Here's the retranslation of every scene with the Spring of Recollection in the game. Overall, her speech here is fairly close to what she says in Waral in-game, with a few details from her final appearance sprinkled in, like her care for Cain. It does misses a few nuances though, like the Legacy being more than just Dark Dragon.

I don't think I've ever seen art of the Spring, but notably, she gets a portrait in the GBA version, and it looks a lot like the manga design, with the slightly wavy hair and especially the blank eyes.

Obviously, the manga rushes through the plot since it's short, thus a lot of places are skipped. I didn't even feel like pointing them out before. However I will point out Waral not being here this time, because Waral happens to not be in the beta map either, and it has very contradicting lore between the ASCII guide and the World Book, meaning it might have not been well developed. Besides, Chapter 5 is very weirdly structured. You get two ship battles that are basically the same, you get to Waral by accident, you advance the plot by going to Ring Reef for no reason and everyone telling you it's off-limits while letting you waltz in anyway, and hardly anything happens in the shrine besides you hearing about the Manual, which is not even a big deal because you get to Rudo by accident later (two ship accidents!! why repeat this plot point!!) and would go to Dragonia anyway to help Bleu. Basically, I obviously can't prove it, but it wouldn't surprise me if the ocean shrine was initially thought off as only a plot scene, and the battles/town added much later for gameplay reasons.

Perhaps worth mentioning, the GBA version also makes a point to mention that Max got lost in the shrine alone, and everyone was worried about him, which does remind me a lot of the ship scene here.

Good Femslash Fics Already Exist

With the whole push for more femslash in fandoms, I’ve never understood the amount of hate I see femslash “fans” direct towards existing creations. There’s nothing wrong with wanting more variety, I do too, but every time someone brings up the fact that femslash fan fictions are already being written someone opens their mouth to say “yeah but those suck.” And then they proceed to read 300+ atrociously mischaracterized mlm fics. They complain abt plotless fluff and then read the exact same pwp scenarios over and over again

And hey, if you don’t want to read femslash that’s totally fine. You don’t have to pretend it interests you. I’m someone who actively looks for femslash and my only problem has been a lack of content in smaller/male-dominated fandoms, the fics themselves are cute af. Ya’ll are missing out on some real masterpieces by labeling all existing femslash fics as “boring,” some of my favorite fics ever are femslash. If an mlm ship invades the tags just filter it out, filter out every mlm pairing in the fandom if you have to. AO3 gives us that option for a reason

I’m not saying we don’t need more variety, but we’re not going to get that by shitting on writers who actively put in the work to make more femslash. When I started writing femslash consistently it was very discouraging because I’d seen soooooo many people online saying they want more femslash fics, yet nobody was reading mine. Then I looked at the stats on other femslash fics and they were the same, really great fics were barely getting any hits or kudos. It kinda sucks knowing that an mlm fic I wrote in 3 hours got more kudos than a wlw fic I spent months on (for pairings of relatively equal popularity). This seems to be the biggest roadblock for people wanting to write femslash, no one supports it. Even tho fandoms claim they would support it, they never do. It’s something I’ve learned to stop caring about but not every writer is gonna push through

This brings me back to a comment I saw about “boring, hair-braidy wlw fics.” That description really stood out to me, and to this day it makes me feel a little self-conscious about my old femslash fics that were “boring” and “hair-braidy.” But then I came across a fic for this one pairing that had actual hair-braiding. It was incredibly well-written and meaningful, exploring how both characters struggled to ask for help but they were able to recognize each other’s dilemmas and help in subtle ways. They did this, of course, by fixing each other’s hair when they both felt helpless to do anything with it. Such a simple way to express a very deep bond. This made me reassess the way people talk about femslash fics, and the way I’d been thinking of them myself. Is fluff really that much of a crime?? Do all cottagecore-type fics really have no substance?? Do femslash fics have to copy exactly what slash fics are doing, or are they allowed to have their own tropes??

My attitude towards the overload of plotless fluff wlw fics is “this is a good starting point.” We need more people writing femslash, more variety in what is written, but that doesn’t mean what we have is bad. I critique wlw fic tropes a lot but I always give the disclaimer that I actually love the fics themselves, I just want to see more of a different thing. And I comment on every femslash fic I read (every fic I read in general but especially femslash), I try to leave something thoughtful to let the writer know I appreciate the effort they put into their work. You’d be surprised how many writers said they were encouraged to update a fic or write more femslash because of a positive comment I left them. Engaging with fics will give you more of a good thing. It has so much more influence than that video you’re about to make talking about how there’s no good femslash fics. When you say things like that it actually discourages people from writing, and makes them feel bad about things they’ve already written. Support femslash writers guys, it’s sexy

- i’m sure we’ll learn more about this in the actual movie so i’m not too worried, but i’m super confused at the very beginning scene. apparently sonic didn’t change his heart…but he did tho? like he learned what being a true hero meant in the last movie. tbh i feel like that’s enough but hey i’m not against more character development for our boy so!! (also that bit where he’s like “in my lungs” was actually really funny to me, ben schwartz’ awesome delivery caught me off guard)

It’s pretty old now like I think it’s like it’s 3 years old first off so I have 3 years of background work experience now 😭 BUT mainly I think that it’s a little too like on the nose for brick! I think that when I started these room projects I just really wanted draw butch’s room it represents his kinda lack of control and care and cluttered mind. Brick on the other hand I think looks put together and is very strict with the way he is perceived even to himself and his very personal space so even tho I think his room is the cleanest out of all the rrb I think he would have even less personality shown in his room in add more like very strange neurotic things he does instead. It’s mainly conceptual stuff that I have an issue with and the contents I decided to put in the room and some point I found myself just adding stuff to fill space because Butch and boomers room is so chaotic I wanted to do the same with him.

So like originally I made the drawing “dark” and there’s even a section of the room that’s not visible for you as a point to kinda explain this whole “you don’t know what he’s thinking aspect” because brick is very dishonest with himself. Well, Im actually not quite sure how to cope with it at all. Only the passing of time has made it easier for me to swallow, and in all honesty, i still havent been able to watch any of his videos since. I still flinch in hearing his voice when it shows up on my feed. But i write about him without a second thought, and i guess a reason for that is because at some point i accepted that my writing was a way of keeping him alive. My stories are a comfort for both myself and others wanting to continue to find joy at the thought of him, and i desperately needed comfort in the months after he passed, so i just kept writing until the bitterness stopped.

I dont think about him being dead. i just think about how happy he made me feel. I focus on the fact that he was really fucking funny and how he was an inspiration for thousands, and i focus on the fact that he still continues to inspire me in making more silly family dynamic fanfiction. Finally finished my ENAsona!! Tho they're literally just like Lem and Mel, my ocs. I havent given them a story or anything yet, tbh I just made them 4 fun, but undercut there's some stuff about them :

LEM : IRRITABLE :

• to her, nothing is good enough. Everything she does, everyone else, everything else will never be good enough. Nothing will satisfy or be content with her.

• the more calmer of the duo, but it doesn't mean she's nicer.

• some say shes a pale green because she's so sick of everything. She would not disagree.

• some people also say her hair is purple and faded because she likes to dye but is never satisfied with any of the results, she just keeps it purple because it's only slightly below good enough for her.

• likes to keep her hair ties so it doesn't mix with MEL's, she doesn't like the feeling of her polygon hair tangled in MEL's 2d hair.

MEL : IRRITABLE :

• only tolerates and likes LEM, who she kind of considers her sister or something of the sort.

• kind of like Shrimpo from dw, she just hates everything.

• Everything irritates her and she hates that too. It gives her constant headaches and anger issues.

• throws things around and off the walls, yells, screams and anything to try to release her never ending anger.

• kind of hates the fact that she doesn't have the sharper side of the body, but kinda grateful too, who knows what she could've done with those claws.

BOTH : ICE CREAM DUO :

• their hair reminds me of yam and chocolate ice cream, hence the duo name.

• also I just realized it kinda sounds like 'I scream' which sorta fits

• both considers themselves as twins/sisters.

• though, like siblings, they're their favourite person and the only ones they tolerate/like, but they still criticize and get mad at each other.

• despite sharing a body and presumably being the same person, they both seem to have different personalities and even have different names each. No one questioned it though, but a few people think they're conjoined twins rather than ENAs.

Problem with x readers. Too specific. And some make the female (we know it 90% female based) reader a bit too girly? Like box cutter girly. Like feminine is fine,graceful is fine,maybe it's just me but some people don't understand what feminine is outside of barbie pink and skirts "anime" girly laugh (tm) feminine or they HAVE TO BE SHY BUT NOT REALISTICALLY SHY . I blame mostly our society. Buuuuut it sucks when you ARE feminine. But you're not THAT kinda feminine.

Maybe the mature,feminine,big sis,mother figure is only applied to myself. But it's hard to related when it feels like it's written for a young teenager. Some stuff i can't relate to anymore. And that hurts that people dont make stuff for a more....adult Audience? And when they do it gets overshadowed it seems? I mean it's ok....but

It's hard for me to describe in words but i feel genuinely x readers make fem readers ditsy on purpose.

Like some fics is good but it could do better.

I tried getting into the raiden fic with shang tsung rizzing up reader. It was in character for raiden till they made him emotionless and boring angry. Made shang tsung somewhat ok but thats not how id react to him,and i feel the fic feels so...all over the place? I got confused. So i couldn't relate AT ALL to this fic.

However the fan art is good?

So there's that.

Oh well i take what i can get i guess. But i hate that long x readers are just get so boring halfway thru. Especially when you are trying to get into them. So you just end up quitting.

I dunno my versions of the characters just are different i guess.

The fan art is great tho.

before you starting dating, when he was 1000% crushing on you, he would get jealous over other people sparring with you and shit like that

at first you couldn't understand why this dude would just. death glare at you while you were doing anything one-on-one with another person and you kind of got used to it

(when you start dating you put two and two together and you hold that over his head for MONTHS)

and like. pre-headcanon-character-development, he definitely would have been like an absolute dick to people who asked you out

youd be stood up by people and not understand why not knowing he either threatened or physically hurt them to prevent them from going on that date (not a good thing and he gets . less shitty about it in the future but lets be real in canon hes a shitty guy) (hes hot tho :3)

I'm bored so heres a list of underrated, obscure and somewhat forgotten Punch Out characters in my opinion :p (including characters outside of the games)

I never see anyone talk abt the Challenger from the original arcade games + arm wrestling but I kinda get why, theres not a lot too him and Little Mac is just a better protagonist in general. Its kinda neat he did get referenced as a smash bros skin tho.

Piston Hurricane is another one of the first characters from Punch Out and I dont see him get any attention either even tho hes kinda neat :[ (Piston Honda is superior tho hehe)

Considering how big punch out is on its stereotypes, I'm shocked they never brought back Pizza Pasta and turned him into a major Italian or even mafia stereotype but maybe its best they didnt.

More of an honorable and debatable mention but I dont see content based on Kid Quick either. But to be fair, Disco Kid is a revamp of him so I guess I can understand why kid quick doesnt get a lot of content himself.

Moving onto the spinoff game, anyone from Arm Wrestling who isn't "Mask X" or Alice & Ape III are very obscure. No fanart or hcs r anything abt these dudes, not even of the supposedly deleted character found in the files of the game. I feel like a character like Texas Mac could have such a personality, sucks that they'll likely never appear again in any future installments. :/

This one really disappoints me but Bob Charlie (wow i wonder who this character is based off of) barley gets any recognition either. I really fw his character and the few fanarts I've found of him r great but sadly a lot of characters from SNES Punch Out arent as noticed compared to say, anyone featured in Punch Out for the NES or Wii. I've seen someone say he was also apart of being revamped into Disco Kid but i couldnt find any source or evidence behind that besides the two having rhythm quotes.

Masked Muscle is another cool character that I dont see anyone talk abt or ever get referenced after Super Punch Out. I really like his mechanics and i like his luchador design too, but hes on the more underrated side of fan favorites from what I've seen.

Not a whole lot to say other than Mad Clown is just another obscure character from SNES Punch Out. I dont have a whole not to say other than its kind of funny that on the Punch Out wiki in the stereotypes category, he gets listed with clown stereotypes rather than racial ones (mostly.)

Hoy Quarlow is too underrated in my opinion. Motherfucker brings staff into the ring and no one bats an eye, he was THE Aran Ryan before Aran Ryan got revamped into being insane. If we ever get a sequel to Punch Out for the Wii or simply just another game, it would be great to see this prick again.

Finishing the SNES installment, the Bruiser twins dont get talked about a lot either. I've definitely seen some art and takes on them b but their also very obscure leaning. Again, they dont have a whole lot going on for their characters but idk, theyve grown on me since I got into the games.

Any "characters" that never appeared in the games but rather in outside media like the comics or ads are extremely obscure and id argue there's only one actually good character, but I'll get to him at the end.

I have no idea who the blonde guy is on this cover. My only guess for the time could have been Glass Joe but this was for the Super Punch Out arcade game, which he never appeared in. I'd honestly dig to hear some theories or hcs on who this guy is. (Also isn't the guy on the far left supposed to be Dragon Chan? Why does he have a Japanese bandana even tho hes from Hong Kong? Piston Honda didn't exist until 2 years later after this ad so it cant be him either.)

Vonnie and Reg only appeared in one of the Nintendo System Comics, specifically the issue Fox and Hounds. The system comics arent exactly the greatest but I kinda liked these two characters despite them both not having a whole whole lot of personality. In a way I kinda wish there was more content with them, especially of Vonnie. I oddly liked her character and I have a lot of hcs for her :D

Finally, GUSHIKEN THE KANGAROO FROM THE PUNCH OUT MANGA IN THE MORE UNDERRATED YET PEAK CHARACTER IN FICTION. PLEASE NINTENDO DO MORE WITH THIS CHARACTER, PLEASE IM BEGGING. /hj
