I just got back to my hotel after the Away From Home Festival and I needed to document my thoughts! This is the third festival in a row that I have attended and so far, this was my personal best experience. In Spain, I had planned poorly and ended up feeling dehydrated and sick, Italy was a travel nightmare (and the worst merch stand experience I have ever had), but Mexico was organized so well. Starting off, I actually got my bracelet this time (unlike Italy where most of them got thrown in the trash??). The merch line was short and efficient (I got a beautiful t-shirt—Louis’ merch never misses). The entire area was lively with colorful food stands, banners, lights, a giant AFHF sign in front of some stone. There was plenty of space, but it still felt like there were a lot of people there. The atmosphere was so chill, I loved it. Surprisingly, I never felt hot, the sun went down quickly and there was a gusty breeze most of the night.
Now for the music…
I completely missed Rodrigo Leal. I could hear Gibby while I went through the line outside (and I saw him later getting photos with fans). I thought he sounded great. I listen to some of his songs sometimes. Reverend and the Makers were better than I thought they would be. The lead singer fumbling with the Mexican flag was a bit comical, but they sounded tight as a group. Honestly, Dylan was kind of my favorite (of the openers). I didn’t really vibe with her music before the concert, but she was great on stage, and I respect that she cut all the Harry stuff. She added a rock edge to her more pop-y songs, and it changed them for the better. I don’t know she was just so charismatic on stage I dug it. Kevin Kaarl was clearly adored by the audience. Unfortunately, I don’t speak a word of Spanish, so I did not understand anything (and may have taken a bit of a snooze on the ground during his set). However, that is not to say I thought he was bad, quite the opposite. It was a nice change of pace, and his voice was moving. I love the DMA’s and were stoked that they were performing this year. They did not disappoint. I was a little distracted because Oli was like fifteen feet away from me singing along and dancing it was really cute 😊. It was so cool to have such a big band there at Louis’ festival. Ooooh the lineup was certainly my favorite of all the AFHFs I have been to so far. Spain is a close second, but I truly loved every act here, and in the case of Dylan, found her way more compelling in person.
Now for Louis…
He is pretty isn’t he. I can’t believe he essentially wore the poster as his outfit. His hair was perfect, and his skin glistening.
My top five songs from the night (in order of the setlist) were: MEGAMIX—All this time is the perfect song argue with the wall, and the live album made me appreciate the intro and transition between att and sibwawc even more than before, I though all of those sounds were prerecorded track, but I saw Steve messing with one of those sound board thingies in real time… neat! WALLS—this song just makes me emotional, especially when the crowd is so into it like they were tonight. BACK TO YOU—as much as I love a sappy moment, a festival set should be energetic and fun, and that’s what back to you is, she had me jumpin’. SATURDAYS—I admire that he has the confidence to sing alone at the microphone with hardly any backing instrumental for that long, it is so pretty, but when that build up pays off it is soooo good, the wall of sound was really taking the pain away on this Saturday. SILVER TONGUES—trust I meant it when I said, ‘I don’t feel like going home,’ what a jovial song I’m smiling just thinking about it, this song fills me with warmth!!
The instrumental outro is sick, and I can never remember what it sounds like, so that was fun to hear. I was trying not to be a grouch about the 1d songs, but why is night changes there for real? If he replaced it with We Made It, or HEADLINE?!?!?! this would be a darn good setlist. Drag me down is actually pretty good in my opinion. Where do Broken Hearts Go is fine live, but I dislike it in principle (if you’re going to sing a 1d cover, at least pick one you wrote on?).
The worst part of the night was when Chris walked right in front of me during night changes.
The best part of the night was going balls to the walls during Silver Tongues.
Truly the night (especially Louis’ set) flew by! I had a great time and cannot wait to see what is in store for next year :)

Sublime With Rome
Recently I was able to connect with the lead vocalist/guitarist of Sublime With Rome, Rome Ramirez, to discuss the band’s latest EP called Tangerine Skies. In this interview, I asked Rome about how he and his bandmates turned the pandemic-era demos into the final cuts for Tangerine Skies, how the band chemistry has been since they acquired a new drummer, and the process for crafting their setlists when they’re on tour. Sublime With Rome will be on tour starting next month. Thank you so much for your time today, Rome. Let’s first talk about your great new EP called Tangerine Skies. I believe it originated as some demos during the pandemic. Can you walk me through that process of getting this EP to be showroom ready? Yeah, during the pandemic, like a lot of people, we had a lot of time on our hands. Especially being touring musicians, we were pretty much at a standstill. So we decided to use that time productively and go into a studio and try to record some music. And in there, we didn’t really walk away with anything, nothing really jumped out. And I think during that process, it was just kind of like, “Okay, the idea of just going in there and trying to just put together something like that, that’s not our style. It has to come from a real place.” So we went home and busted out the guitar and started living instead of coming off the pandemic. And then just going straight into more work and trying to figure that out, it was just like, well just live. I was having a baby. We gave birth to my daughter, and I had to turn out a bunch and just kind of started writing songs from a more simple place again, and it allowed me to kind of put together songs like “Tangerine Skies” and “Battle Scarred,” and then be able to kind of dust off some of this stuff. So that’s awesome. And congratulations on the birth of you said, your daughter, right? That’s so exciting. Yeah, I have three kids myself, so I know what it’s like to be a father and play music for them. And yeah, my oldest is 12, my middle child is nine and my youngest is six…all spread out. It’s funny, I’m always constantly having to explain to them the difference between their toys versus…mine. Yeah, you can see some of the trinkets in my office here, too! I know you’ve been on tour last year with Incubus and stuff like that, but you guys are going to be hitting the road, I think, later this winter, and possibly overseas too…How are you going to craft the setlist with new material versus classics and stuff? Well, so I always like to try and keep it like the rule of threes. Where it’s like, a third of the set of the obvious, number one monster hits that sublime has. They have six giant songs. And then another third is legacy favorites, cuts that our fans love. Like “Pawn Shop” and stuff like that. And then the other third is our original music. And the original music is what we will sub out, for a certain album cycle. We’ll be playing some of the newer stuff that we got, maybe like two songs from the EP for a little part of the set. But you know, we really like to honor the entire thing of what Sublime is. The integrity of the band, and the scope of that they were. They weren’t around for a long time, unfortunately, but they covered a lot of ground, sonically in the short amount of time that they were a band. Absolutely! Can you think of a moment when you’ve either interacted with a fan, either online or in person where they were grateful for you still honoring the Sublime legacy? Oh yeah, man. I mean, a lot. I get a lot of people who could tell me that to my face. I’m one of those people who have a hard time believing anyone. I can take a compliment and say thank you, but in my head, it’s like, he didn’t mean that…But I kept getting these messages on Instagram and stuff, where I think people can be a little bit more candid, without feeling judged or anything. And they tell me how certain songs just really save their life and stuff like that. And it helps remind me that just because the… https://chorus.fm/features/interviews/sublime-with-rome/

Taylor Swift Tours Masterpost
Hey everyone! For absolutely no reason at all, I’ve decided to compile a masterpost of all the regular setlists, surprise songs, covers, and guests on Taylor’s tours with links to YouTube videos when available (I’m only including videos that weren’t featured in official tour movies). I’ve noticed that, although there are posts like this for specific tours, like Red or reputation, some of this information is pretty hard to find, and it might be useful to some to have it all in one place. Also, I’m something of a Taylor Swift live performance ~connoisseur (💀), so I thought I might share. :) Here we go
Note: This is only part one. I don’t know when the posts for Red, 1989, and reputation will be up.
Part One: Fearless & Speak Now
Fearless Tour (April 23, 2009-July 10, 2010)
This tour did not feature a ‘surprise song slot,’ but she did sometimes change the setlist up a bit. She also brought out a couple of surprise guests (most notably John Mayer and Katy Perry), but not nearly as many as she did on her later tours.
Regular setlist: Fearless Tour
1. ‘You Belong with Me’
2. ‘Our Song’
3. ‘Tell Me Why’
4. ‘Teardrops on My Guitar’
5. ‘Fearless’
6. ‘Forever & Always’
7. ‘Hey Stephen’
8. ‘Fifteen’
9. ‘Tim McGraw’
10. ‘White Horse’ (x)
11. ‘Love Story’
12. ‘The Way I Loved You’ (x)
13. ‘You’re Not Sorry’ / ‘What Goes Around… Comes Around’ (x)
14. ‘Picture to Burn’
15. ‘Change’ (x)
16. ‘I’m Only Me When I’m with You’ (2009) (x) OR ‘Today Was a Fairytale’ (2010)
17. ‘Should’ve Said No’ (extended version)
Footnotes:
*Starting from the show in Uncasville, Connecticut on August 28, 2009, ‘Change’ was removed from the setlist. It was added back in Greensville, South Carolina on September 4, 2009. Starting from the show in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on October 1, 2009, it was removed again.
*European shows on the 2009 leg often removed ‘I’m Only Me When I’m with You’ as well as ‘Change.’
*Starting from the show in Brisbane, Australia on February 4, 2010, ‘Today Was a Fairytale’ replaced ‘I’m Only Me When I’m with You’ in the encore.
Surprise songs:
1. ‘The Best Day’ - Evansville, Indiana (April 23, 2009) Note: This was actually the first show of the tour. Unfortunately, I haven’t found a video of this performance.
2. ‘Two Is Better Than One’ - Brisbane, Australia (February 4, 2010) (x)
3. ‘The Best Day’ - Moline, Illinois (May 8, 2010) (x)
4. ‘Jump Then Fall’ - Foxborough, Massachusetts (June 5, 2010) (x)
Surprise guest performances:
1. ‘Your Body is a Wonderland’ and ‘White Horse’ (already part of the regular acoustic set but performed as a duet here) with John Mayer - Los Angeles, CA (May 22, 2009) (x)
2. ‘The Way You Love Me’ with Faith Hill - Nashville, TN (September 12, 2009) (x)
3. ‘Hot N Cold’ with Katy Perry - Los Angeles, CA (April 15, 2010)
Speak Now World Tour (February 9, 2011-March 18, 2012)
Regular setlists:
Eurasia (February 9, 2011-March 30, 2011)
Note: All of the performances linked below are from the Eurasian leg. Therefore, their quality is questionable. I’m only including these because this leg had a slightly different wardrobe than the North American leg which was recorded for the tour movie. I’m not including videos from performances where the costume is the same.
1. ‘Sparks Fly’
2. ‘Mine’
3. ‘The Story of Us’
4. ‘Back to December’ / ‘Apologize’ / ‘You’re Not Sorry’ (x)
5. ‘Better Than Revenge’ (x)
6. ‘Speak Now’
7. ‘Fearless’ / ‘I’m Yours’ / ‘Hey, Soul Sister’
8. ‘Fifteen’ (x)
9. ‘You Belong with Me’
10. ‘Dear John’ (x) - I’m only including this video because she wore her hair loose lol
11. ‘Enchanted’ (x)
12. ‘Long Live’ (x)
13. ‘Love Story’ (x)
North America & Oceania (May 21, 2011-March 18, 2012)
This is based solely on the first North American show
1. ‘Sparks Fly’
2. ‘Mine’
3. ‘The Story of Us’
4. ‘Our Song’
5. ‘Mean’
6. ‘Back to December’ / ‘Apologize’ / ‘You’re Not Sorry’
7. ‘Better Than Revenge’
8. ‘Speak Now’
9. ‘Fearless’ / ‘I’m Yours’ / ‘Hey, Soul Sister’
10. ‘Last Kiss’
11. ‘You Belong with Me’
12. ‘Dear John’
13. ‘Enchanted’
14. ‘Haunted’
15. ‘Long Live’
16. ‘Fifteen’
17. ‘Love Story’
Notes:
Starting from the show in Toronto, Canada on July 15, 2011, Taylor started playing acoustic covers right after her performance of ‘Last Kiss.’
Starting from the show in Denver, CO, on September 27, 2011, ‘Ours’ was added to the encore, right before the performance of ‘Fifteen’. This marked the live debut of the song. If Taylor had a surprise guest, this was the song she would usually cut from the setlist.
Starting from the show in Perth, Australia on March 2, 2012, ‘Safe & Sound’ (x) was added to the encore. ‘Ours’ (x) was shifted to the acoustic set and was played right before ‘Last Kiss.’ It was only skipped at the show in Auckland on March 17. I’m including a video because, although the performance from the encore was featured in the tour movie, this version takes place on the B-stage and has a different costume (the purple Susan Hilferty dress she wore for half the show lol).
At the shows in Melbourne, Australia on March 12, 2012 and Auckland, New Zealand on March 16, 2012, ‘Fearless’ was skipped.
Surprise covers:
1. ‘Livin’ on a Prayer’ by Bon Jovi - Newark, NJ (July 19, 2011) (x)

ALIVE Stage Episode 1 Report
I was able to go to the first four performances of Ivesta Episode 1 from May 15 to 17! I won’t spoil the story or any plot points, but I will be talking about some funny moments, the daily (higawari) scenes, the curtain calls, and the dance live. These will be behind the cut. I’ll cover the things I mentioned in my twitter thread and more~ Sorry for any typos, I typed this on my phone on the plane ride home.
Synposis:
The cast of Episode 1 consists of Growth, ZIX, and some original characters. This play focuses on Mamoru and was a great introductory show for Ivesta. It was a good mix of comedy and low-stakes drama, so it was lighthearted (although some people did cry when it got heartwarming and wholesome). The main motifs were wisteria flowers (Mamo’s family name contains the kanji for wisteria = 藤) and Growth’s tagline in their logo, “Let us go singing as far as we go, the road will be less tedious.”
TLDR: You should buy the BD/DVD when it comes out because Ivesta is so wholesome and the dances are super impressive, unlike anything Tsukista or SQS has done before. The acting was good and it’s a great into to Growth!
The Stage Design:
It was a relatively small theater, but that meant any seat was a good seat to view the stage. The stage itself was kind of trapezoidal shaped because it’s tucked into (what would be) the corner of the venue space. The stage had a lot of tiers and stairs, but the main flat area was large enough for the dances. It was also pretty close to the seating level, only about 2ft off the ground. Since the first row was only 4ft from the edge of the stage, those people sitting in front wouldn’t have to tilt their necks up to view the stage.
The Acting:
I’m not a native Japanese speaker so I can’t fully judge the acting/intonation but it wasn’t cheesy or bad! Some of the backup dancers actually played characters in the play part, and their acting was good.
Ishiwaka Sho was a cute and peppy Kensuke! His voice is also surprisingly high, just like Yamayan’s, so it fit the character perfectly. He talked kind of fast during the MC parts and also would forget it was his turn during the MC, so I would say he was the most nervous that I could tell. Mitani Reo as Ryota was amazing! At first I thought he didn’t fit Ryota’s look that much (I had high expectations since Ryou is my favorite member) but I’ve gotten used to seeing him as Ryou, and his acting is ON POINT. He plays up the bitter/sarcastic parts of Ryou so well and is hilarious. Shiozawa Hidemasa was a calm and collected Koki, but I could tell he wanted to act out of character more since Kou is a very subdued person. For example, he always had a lot of fun in the higawari parts which I’ll talk about later. He was a great leader and had command of the crowd as a leader should. Iwasa Yuki made the stage Mamoru a very puppy dog-like and happy person. Personally, I always thought of Mamo as a more reserved person, but Yuki would always be waving really cutely to the crowds with a big smile. As the main character of the play, Yuki did an amazing job and I’m looking forward to how he’ll play Mamoru in the future!
The Dancing:
Let me just start by saying Ivesta has some of the most technical and complicated dancing in all of Tsukista/SQ Stage. Even the solos all had proper choreo with footwok and wasn’t just the usual waving/walking around like Tsukista has. I’m so glad I got to see the dancing live be sure it was amazing. When the disc version comes out I want to learn the dances because they’re legit. The dancing is characterized by a lot of hand/wrist movements, leaping, and grace.
The play started with a mini live where Growth performed the short versions of “Mahou no Kizuna” and “Fushichou no Nebula” then ZIX performed “Brilliant” and “BML.” This was ZIX’s only dance performance since they’re not in the dance live. Their songs have that edgy/sexy vibe and the dances mirrored that perfectly.
The setlist for the dance live was as follows: “Mahou no Kizuna”, “My Gloria,” MC, “Rada Kiana,” “Jiyuu no Tori,” “Planetaria,” “Amaki Kaze no Primula,” “Lila no Shirabe,” “Re:raise,” “Lucretia,” MC, and “Parallel Lineage.” (That’s all the songs but I may have switched the order of one of the unit songs)
I raved about the overall dancing already, so I’ll just point out some specific stuff. Reo is the best dancer out of the other three Growth members, not that any of the other guys are bad, but he has way more experience. He’s been a dancer for a while and is the main dancer in his idol group. My favorite performance is “Rada Kiana.” It starts with the spotlight shining on each member in succession while they do some solo moves and it looks really cool. It had some salsa-like hand and hip movements that fit the tone of the song. The “la da di la” parts also have amazing hand movements and Hide’s expressions during that part we’re so sultry~
Another memorable song is “Jiyuu no Tori,” especially the outro (around 3:53 of the song) where they do some contemporary hip-hop stuff when the beat is really kicking in. Reo was amazingggg!! Look out for him in this part of the song on the disc cuz damn, you’ll be impressed.
—————-
From here on, I’ll be relying on the list of memorable parts I wrote in my Twitter thread and try to elaborate on them. It will contain spoilers about some scenes!
General:
They do the lightning crackle effect when Ryota and Mitsuru are starting each other down on the TV program (just like in the anime)
Mamoru inhales (huffs) his pachira to give him strength and energy, then Ryou and Ken walk in like “wtf are you doing” lol.
Mitsuru refers to Ryota as the “Sakuraba-rrier” (get it? sakura barrier?) since he protects Koki (Ryou’s last name is Sakuraba), and Mitsuru’s nickname for Kensuke is “Yaegashi Ken” and does little doggie paws since “Ken” can also mean “dog.”
Each Growth member eventually receives a head pat from Koki at different points in the play
Mamo’s headpat scene is where Kou is trying to reassure him and their faces were so close - I’m pretty sure all the Kou/Mamo people in the audience got nosebleeds. Ken breaks it up though by saying something like “now’s not the time for the story about the dog and his master.” xD
For some reason, the MC before the final song never goes perfectly lmao. Either Sho will forget to say his line or they get sidetracked lol.
The Growth call and response they came up with for the stage play was to repeat the flower/plant-based kanji that’s in their names. Mamo and Kou have 藤 (fuji/wisteria), Ken has 樫 (kashi/evergreen), and Ryota has 桜 (sakura/cherry blossom). Then at the end, Kou says “Fan no minna to-” and the audience responds “issho ni Growth!” (“Together with all the fans, let’s grow!”)
May 15, Evening:
The higawari is about Mamoru going to the Lost and Found at a train station to look for his phone. The person playing the station attendant and the 2 guests change each show. For the first show, it was Reo/Ryou as the station attendant. One of the props he pulled out from the lost and found bin was a basketball and Reo got to show off his hidden talent of being able to spin and hold basketball on his fingertip. He even transferred the spinning ball to Yuki/Mamo’s hand~ The two guests were Sho/Ken and Hide/Kou as street performances. Sho kept yelling at Mamoru about soul music and then pulled out some buckets to play the drums on (he was really good!)
During the last song, the cast all go out into the aisles and do the usual high-touches and waves. I was sitting one seat in from the aisle, and Yuki came down and touched my hand!! Unfortunately I missed Reo who came from the back doors…
The first show’s curtain call had each Growth member say a message. Sho went but forgot to introduce himself and mention his name - he went straight to “thanks for coming today,” etc. So when he finished and it was Reo’s turn, Reo said “How can I go when this guy didn’t even say who he is?” Then at the end, Hide forgot to pause so everyone could say “arigatou gozaimasu” together so halfway through him saying it himself he stopped and was like “wait…” lol.
May 16, Afternoon:
This higawari had Hide/Kou as the station attendant. One of the props was a plunger, and I forget if there was another prop or not. The guests were Takuto/Makoto from ZIX and two of the original characters. They had sunglasses and suits on and were some kind of dancers. I’m not 100% sure what they were referencing, maybe that World Order dance group?
May 16, Evening:
I sat in the second row for this performance and it was so close to the stage! During one performance of Mamo’s solo, “Re:raise,” the bead sash that’s draped over his left shoulder ripped off from being whipped around and the beads spilled out onto the stage. It happened right at the “Zenzen…” line of the last chorus since he has a move where he turns his shoulder really quickly. Even though I was super close to the stage nothing hit me, but I think some beads could have hit the people in front of me. Yuki and the dancers kept going as usual, so that was good. I was just afraid someone might trip since the beads were round. After Mamo’s solo the rest of Growth comes out to do “Lucretia,” and I could see them eyeing the beads a little while taking their places. After that is the MC and after saying his lines Hide went to tell someone backstage about the beads (his mic was still on a little lol). The dancers came out and started to pick up the beads while Growth continued the MC. One of them even used a small vacuum lmao. Growth were joking around about it though, and no one got hurt so things continued as normal. After the show I picked up one of the beads that hadn’t gotten cleaned up from the floor:
The higawari was Ryou as the station attendant again. The first prop was a notebook that he called the “Ikemen Note” (like Death Note). If you write someone’s name inside they become an ikemen. Ryou wrote Mamo’s name inside and then Mamo acted all ikemen-like until Ryou was like “nevermind, it’s not real” lol. The second prop was a foam sword and Ryou acted like a clothing store workers saying, “This is a size small, it’ll look good on you!” The guests were ZIX in their animal fur suits (the costume they wear when doing that fortune telling segment on TV). Makoto had Mitsuri on a leash, but I couldn’t hear what they said they were exactly. Makoto kept trying to get Mitsuru to talk, but he mostly made animal noises lol. Then they played a game with Ryou and Mamo (not sure of the name). Basically everyone crouches with their head down and they take turns guessing how many of the four of them will stand up. When the person guessing calls out, the other players decide if they want to stand or stay crouched. If the person guesses the right number of people standing they win. Only Mitsuru was able to guess correctly because he said “1 person” and he was the only one that stood up lol.
During the last song, I was able to get another high touch from Yuki (this time with my other hand lol). I wasn’t even sitting in the aisle, I was 4 seats in, but he gave high touches to everyone on my left and was about to turn away but I decided to reach out too~ Then he saw me and reached over to give me a high touch~
That night it was Reo’s turn to do a curtain call message. He said he loves the story and the message of Episode 1. He tried really hard not to tear up and stopped to compose himself. Hide even gave Reo a small hug every time he stopped, but eventually the tears came… Reo said he wasn’t expecting to tear up like that, but he’s super happy to be able to be in Ivesta. (Y'all I can’t believe I got to see Reo cry from that close lol)
May 17, Afternoon:
This was the last performance I saw. The higawari had Kou as the station attendant, but I forget what props he had that time. The guests were one of the original characters plus Shoon wearing glasses and lab coats. They said they were from the “Kyun Lab” or something. Their segment consisted of saying a comforting line to Shoon who acts as someone worried about something, and the point is to be heartwarming and make their heart “kyun” (squeeze). The side cast member said an example line, then Mamo went and said something like “Don’t worry because I’ll always be by your side” and it was cute. Then Hide/Kou, who had been just sitting and watching, gets dragged to his feet by the other guys. He doesn’t want to do it and was like “yada yada~” but the audience cheered him on. I don’t think he was prepared or expecting to have to say a cute line too lol. I forgot what the line started with, but he ended with “I’ll give you a hug” and hugged Shoon from the back.
ZIX was in charge of the curtain call and we’re really cool. It was nice to be able to hear from Takuto and Riki. Takuto then suggested Hide should do ZIX’s cutesy/embarrassing fortune telling pose and Hide was like “uhhhh” but of course the audience wanted to see that so he said yes. Riki told him to choose another Growth cast member to do the pose with and OF COURSE he picked Reo (cuz Ryota hates ZIX lol). Reo tried to walk off stage saying “oh look, it’s time for me to go” but the other cast stopped him lol. Hide and Reo reluctantly said the line ZIX says which is something like “Happy ni naremasu you ni, sunny na egao de lucky day ♪” and did the pose. The sound board staff even played the little sparkle sound that plays when ZIX does the pose on TV lmao. Reo looked up to the 2nd floor where the sound board was and was like “you better watch yourself” lol.
After the final bow when Growth says their last goodbyes, Reo took his glove off with his teeth before disappearing backstage and the crowd went WILD (including me). Yuki was like “umm idk how to follow that…” but did his usual cute Mamoru waves and had a big smile. Sho had left the stage first so he didn’t see the glove thing lol. Hide was the last to leave. He stuck his hand inside his jacket and “pulled out” a finger heart which was cute~

My Journey to Try to Meet Tay
So, I put together this thread on Twitter not long before my first Rep Tour date (Columbus, OH 7.7.18) and it got quite a bit of attention in the Swiftie fandom (as of right now, I believe the original thread is up to 113 retweets and 242 likes, which is A LOT for little old me). I am trying to get @taylorswift & @taylornation to see it, and maybe...just maybe....this story can finally get its happy ending before I am finished with my rep tour dates. I figured in order to increase my chances of getting it seen, I’d write it all out here on tumblr as well, and maybe some of you very sweet fellow swifties will reblog, tag Tay, etc. I’d truly appreciate it. My next show is Atlanta Night 2, and then I will be in Nashville as well. Here we go, an overview of all of the times I have gone out hoping to meet @taylorswift:
1) 2007 - Country Concert Festival Fort Loramie, OH - I was 15 years old, and Taylor was the earliest act of the day and only had like a 30 minute set. I begged my parents to let me go with my boyfriend at the time just to see her play. There were only like 3 people in the crowd who knew her songs! I’d been following her Myspace (LOL) so I knew already that she loved interacting with her fans, and I waited by her tour bus opposite side of a gate for over an hour before a security guard eventually told me that she was not going to be coming over, that I was pathetic for waiting so long, and that I need to leave. I started crying, and my boyfriend made us go.
2) 2008 - Country Concert Festival Fort Loramie, OH - Taylor got invited back! A slightly later slot, but it was on Sunday which a lot of people don’t stick around for (the festival actually has since cut the day entirely). My high school bestie and I were there though with a poster baring Tay’s lyrics and screaming every word to the songs she played. I don’t have photos of our posters because some drunk girl stepped on it after we had accidentally dropped it and ended up ripping it pretty bad. We waited by the buses after her set for quite awhile before we were eventually told by security that she had to catch a flight to NY or something and wouldn’t be coming out.
3) 2009 - Defying Gravity Tour - Taylor was opening for Keith Urban and a group of my friends and I got tickets to just to see her! I got to meet Mama Swift for the first time, but didn’t meet Tay. I wasn’t really surprised because there were so many of us in our group, and this was before her headlining days so we didn’t even really know if there’d be a chance or not.
4) 2009 - CMT Awards Nashville, TN - I bought tickets when it was announced that Taylor would be performing, and drove to Nashville from Ohio (with my older sisters accompanying me because I was only 17 haha). I got to meet a lot of celebrities actually outside of the venue beforehand, but not Taylor, and my phone also died before the show so I didn’t get any photos.
5) 2009 - Fearless Tour Columbus, OH - Nothing crazy happened this day, really, but it marked the beginning of Natalie and my’s ongoing Taylor concert bond! Taylor also came this close to us during “Hey Stephen” and touched my hand as she was walking back to the stage!
6) 2009 - Fearless Tour Indianapolis, IN - A random guy-friend of mine ended up with an extra floor ticket to the show and invited me so of course I said yes! I saw Mama Swift again, and she actually remembered me and “all my jean skirt, cowboy hat friends” from Cincinnati (the keith urban show!) -- I was shocked, and she is so sweet that she upgraded us from our back-of-floor seats to the pit!
7) 2010 - Fearless Tour Cincinnati, OH - My friend and I arrived to the venue at like 10 A.M. the day of the show, and we brought a scrapbook we had made for Taylor. It ended up raining and still we stood outside (trying to protect our book lol) for nearly five hours across from the tour buses/loading area. Eventually someone from Tay’s team came out and gave us pit passes and took the book promising to get it to Taylor. I still have no idea if she ever saw it.
8) 2013 - The 13 Hour Meet & Greet Nashville, TN - This is the hardest day to talk about of them all...We came from Ohio and walked around the event ALL DAY (totaled about 10 hours) trying to be picked by Taylor’s team members and we watched fans meet Taylor all day from this close to us. We never were picked, and eventually we left/gave up once they announced the last meet & greet wristbands had been handed out. It was honestly heartbreaking because this event had our hopes up so high, but Taylor is truly an angel for meeting SO many people that day, and I don’t fault her at all. Plus, we did get to enjoy a free acoustic set!!
9) 2011 - CMA Fest Nashville, TN - At an event this big, we truly didn’t expect to meet Taylor, but we still had an incredible time supporting her as a CLOSING act of the festival!!
10) 2011 - Speak Now Tour Indianapolis, IN - We had SOOO many glowsticks haha but it worked somewhat! Taylor’s team came up to us in our literal nosebleed seats and gave us pit passes! It was an amazing experience, but we still didn’t get to meet Taylor.
11) 2011 - Speak Now Tour Cleveland, OH - This concert was the VERY NEXT NIGHT from the previous entry in this story! Two out of three of us (Natalie and I of course) made a back-to-back trip from Indianapolis to our hometown (2 hours each way) and then to Cleveland immediately (4 hours each way) to see Taylor again in our same get-up from the night before. We had floor seats this time, and there were these two precious little girls in front of us who kept standing on the chairs in order to see and getting scolded by security. It was breaking my heart that them (or their parents who kept trying to hold them but they were heavy as like seven year olds) couldn’t truly enjoy the concert. Since we knew what the setlist would do, we told the family about Taylor’s “b-stage” songs she’d sing later closer to us. I saw Andrea and told her what was going on, and she said I looked familiar haha I gave her a brief overview of shows I’d been to and when we’d met and she said, “so of course, you’ve met Taylor” or something along those lines and I truthfully said “no I haven’t.” She had me go get the family and brought all of us into the sound-stage/b-stage private area for Taylor’s set there and for the rest of the show. The family was so excited and when Taylor came down from the stage, she hugged those little girls on her way out to the crowd and when she was hugging these other girls in front of us, she extended her arm to half-hug us at the same time. I CRIED A LOT.
12) 2013 - Red Tour Columbus, OH - At this point, we tried to up our costume game lol we went for the “22″ music video look. We were pretty happy with it! We didn’t get noticed by anyone for anything at this show, though. Nothing crazy happened, but as always any night at a Taylor Swift show is magical and memorable <3
13) 2015 - 1989 Tour Louisville, KY - OOOO Lucky #13 ;) This really was a lucky show. We went to the @taylornation booth and they were impressed by how many shows we’d each gone to, and when I told them all about my Master’s Degree Thesis (I wrote it entirely on Taylor just a few months prior, and had just earned my graduate degree about a month before this show!). They were really intrigued by this and kept asking for all sorts of details lol when we left the booth, we barely made it far away before one of the girls from TN was chasing us down. My heart was beating SO FAST. She asked if we’d like to enjoy Taylor from the pit that night instead of our ticketed upper-level seats. OF COURSE! We didn’t get offered Loft ‘89 that night, unfortunately, which once we’d been upgraded we didn’t expect. Although, some girls nearby us did get upgraded and then later given Loft as well. Props to them! This was still one of my favorite show experiences and memories, especially because I heard the “Clean” speech for the first time and I REALLY needed it at this time in my life. A lot of tears were shed.
14) 2015 - 1989 Tour Gillette Stadium, MA - We won tickets to this!! Couldn’t believe it. Four of us got to go, and we drove TWELVE HOURS (it actually ended up being like 14 after traffic and stops etc haha) to go to this. This was one of the costume get-ups I am the most proud of. When we got to the TN booth, there weren’t any of Taylor’s team working it (I guess it was stadium employees taking pics idk). We did our best to stand out during the show, but we didn’t get to meet Taylor. I actually heard that there may not have even been a Loft that night, but there had been at the previous night Gillette show.
15) 2015 - 1989 Tour Columbus, OH - We loved our outfits for this, we were BAD BLOOD AF!! We didn’t get noticed in any way this night, though. Taylor was still amazing as per usual and it was my last time seeing the 1989 Tour. We did, however, cry on the drive home feeling defeated yet again....
16) 2018 - Reputation Stadium Tour Columbus, OH - Just recently added this one because I’m one show into the Rep Tour and have still not met Tay. My first show of the rep tour required me to drive 6 hours from Nashville (I moved here in 2016), but I was so excited that the drive there flew by! I’ve really been working hard to get noticed on social media this era (as you’ve seen everything above wasn’t working for me). I thought maybe this twitter thread was finally enough to get attention from Taylor/TN, so I honestly got my hopes up more than I should’ve about getting a DM for pre-show. I’m still not totally sure what was going on, but it seemed that there wasn’t as many pre-show DM’s as usual and maybe the process is changing (or the holiday impacted it idk still really). Not that I thought I was a shoe-in or anything for a pre-show M&G, but the situation did make me feel like my shot of meeting Taylor now was definitely low. We were absolutely in AWE of every aspect of this show, though, let me tell you. I wasn’t disappointed in any way by Taylor’s production. Wow. Just wow. We also were unexpectedly right next to one of the B-stages so Taylor was so close during that part of the show! I cried my eyes out to the “Long Live” & “New Year’s Day” mash-up because of my new long live tattoo and because NYD has significance to me and my relationship. Unfortunately, I ended up feeling AWFUL like a majority of the show though (like sick) and it got worse about halfway through.I spent a lot of time trying not to throw up or miss any of Taylor performing, and I toughed it out, but it wasn’t the way I wanted to experience the show. I ended up having to sprint past everyone with Natalie’s help to make it to a bathroom and throw up and I felt awful our whole hour drive back to Natalie’s house. It’s honestly probably good I didn’t get picked for post-show rep room because of how bad I felt! ANYWAY I’m still sad it didn’t happen for me, but I am hopeful that it wasn’t the right time and my time with Taylor is still coming.
CONCLUSION: I am not in anyway ungrateful for the @taylorswift experiences I have had thus far. I know I have gotten more from Andrea and @taylornation than many have. Some people haven’t even gotten to see Taylor live! I know that, BUT my DREAM since before section #1 here has been to meet Taylor and thank her in person for everything she’s helped me get through. So if it’s possible in anyway to make this happen so I can tell her that, show her my tattoos she’s inspired, tell her about my thesis, etc....it’d mean the world to me.

Here is my wish list of songs for Taylor to play on the last leg of the tour in Australia, New Zealand, and Japan in no particular order. Please take some of these into consideration, Miss Swift, we're counting on you...
-All You Had To Do Was Stay
To start off our list here is my absolute favorite song from 1989: All You Had To Do Was Stay. While this song was on the 1989 World Tour setlist, it was later cut. To make up for this injustice, maybe we could hear this song on the b-stage in one of these last few shows?
-I’d Lie
While this song is not even officially released aside from on an exclusive version of Taylor Swift, this song has grown to become a fan favorite. The last time our ears were blessed with a live version of this song was on September 26th, 2007 in the Keith Albee Theater, Huntington, WV, USA, so maybe we can hear this middle school anthem of ours live on the b-stage over a decade later?
-Back To December
This heartbreaking forgiveness track of Speak Now containing some of Taylor’s best lyrics hasn’t been performed live since she played it on piano during the Speak Now tour. I know we’d all absolutely flip out to hear this song acoustic in the rep era, so why don’t you give it a go, Taylor?
-Cold As You
This song from Taylor’s debut album is one of my favorites by her EVER and has only been played live once on the RED Tour, and being a Track 5 and a fan favorite, this song should definitely be played again nearly five years later.
-You’re Not Sorry
Another song that hits me in the feels every time and also happens to be my stan song off Fearless is You’re Not Sorry. This track had the glory of being a b-stage song on the RED Tour as well but has not been performed yet, and I know this will be a great pick to play at one of the remaining shows!
-If This Was A Movie
This song on the deluxe edition of Speak Now is the first of two songs on this list that has NEVER been played live before. Between the dramatic chorus, stormy, yet Hollywood vibe, it would be a gift to get to hear this song played live.
-The Moment I Knew
And finally to end our list, is The Moment I Knew, another song Taylor has unfortunately never EVER played live before. This song lies on the deluxe edition of RED and in my opinion, is in the top five off the album as a whole. I’m hoping in the foreseeable future we will be able to hear these heart-wrenching lyrics live acoustically!

Ed Sheeran - Part 1
Wembley, June 15 & Amsterdam, June 28
As many of you know, I was fortunate enough to see Ed twice during this Divide World Tour.
Click here for Part 2. Click here for Part 3.
It all began almost a year ago. On July 8, 2017, tickets went on sale for both shows. I put my boyfriend — who lives close to London — on Wembley duty, and I bought the Amsterdam tickets myself. I went for seats in the sections closer to the middle of the stadium. I figured you wouldn’t be as close as when you picked the sections to the side of the stage, but I wanted to be able to experience the screens properly and from a good angle. We ended up sitting where the red cross is for Wembley (section 122, row 25):
And we ended up sitting here in Amsterdam (section 121, row 2):
I think it’s really cool that I got to experience the show from both sides! I went to see Ed with my boyfriend at Wembley and with a friend from my previous job in Amsterdam.
Click on the Keep Reading link below for more! :-) Please keep in mind that I was quite far away and don’t really have the proper recording devices. And to be honest, I just wanted to enjoy the show and not live it through a camera/phone. So there’s only a couple of my own (bad quality) pictures and short videos in this post, but I just really wanted to share my experience!
Wembley, June 15 We arrived in London around noon. First, we went to have lunch at our favorite Byron Proper Hamburgers restaurant located on The Cut. Around 1pm we travelled up to our hotel, which was a Premier Inn hotel near Wembley. We arrived there at 2pm, checked in and sat in our room for a while. The room was clean, spacious and at the hotel they even had printed out explanations ready of how to get to Wembley. So no complaints there! We arrived at Wembley around 4 pm:

Before entering the premises, they checked your ticket. However, the Wembley tickets had no names on them, and they didn’t ask about any of the resale-related stuff either. We went to our designated entrance and sat around on the floor for a bit. I guess you are supposed to queue at the turnstiles, but because it was so quiet still and because we had seats anyway we didn’t start queuing until 4:45pm. The turnstiles opened at 5pm and we went in and had our bags checked. Again, no resale check here... It’s a bit strange to me how there were all these strict rules and all these documents you needed to bring, but in the end the tickets had no names on them, my booking confirmation didn’t even have a card number on it and no one asked anything. From what I understand someone went around some of the queues, but we didn’t see anyone. If you put such a strict system in place, please enforce it. After we went in we had some pizza and a drink. Even though the food was very expensive (as expected), I was really surprised about the quality. That was some good pizza!

First up was Jamie! I really enjoyed his set and his energy. He’s such a lovely guy. He even went out to the merch stand on the pitch to meet fans at the end of his set. The only thing I have to say is that the sound quality wasn’t great for his set. I don’t know if he uses a different mic, or if the band uses different instruments, or if it’s because people are rude and half the stadium is empty during the gig, but it’s very hard to hear him because of the echo. The sound levels seem fine, his voice is loud enough compared to the band, but it’s so hard to understand a word of what he’s singing/saying. I thought that was such a shame because he’s such a good performer and his songs are great! Below a video of the sing-along part of (I think) the last song of his set, Ahead of Myself:

Then came Anne-Marie! It was only during her set that I realized where I was and what I was doing there: it was almost time for Ed!!! But first it was time to enjoy Anne-Marie.
© edsmysterygirl/Tumblr
I’ve listened quite a lot to her album recently and Ciao Adios and Friends are played regularly on the radio over here so I knew all her songs. I was quietly singing along at this point, still a bit unsure... But I was really enjoying myself so far.
dailymotion
© edsmysterygirl/dailymotion
Now it was finally time for Ed... But first it was time for a break. And time for a toilet break. Apparently more people had the same idea. The queue was soooo long. I was so worried I wouldn’t make it back in time. But I did!!
It was surreal to see him walk on stage. He. Was. Actually. There. RIGHT. THERE. He played the standard setlist he’s been playing lately. First of course, Castle on the Hill. He was SO smiley. And the crowd went wild. Everyone got up when he came on and no one ever sat down again.
© edsmysterygirl/Tumblr
Then was Eraser. Even though Castle on The Hill does have some elements of layering, I feel like the layering towards the end of Eraser was the first time I properly experienced the loop station live. When you listen to live recordings you can make out every single loop fragment if you listen closely, but there is no such thing when you’re there live. It all just blends together into one big ball of awesomeness. Here’s the start of Eraser:
dailymotion
© edsmysterygirl/dailymotion
Next was The A Team. It was incredibly to finally hear that song live after hearing it for so many years on the radio. Because yes, in the Netherlands The A Team still gets regular radio play for some reason. Not that I mind! Not at all! After watching Glastonbury I was expecting a sea of lights during this song. But for some reason, Wembley missed the memo. 😂 I guess it also was because it was still so light out!
I don’t know when exactly the speeches were. But I think it was before Don’t/New Man that he told the story about how much of a boring concertgoer he is because he tends to not move much. And that it’s okay to sing and dance and go nuts and that you don’t have to be embarrassed because everyone is looking at him anyway. And if someone is looking at you, they might just join in because they see you having a good time. And I’m SO glad he told that story. Because, even though I have heard it about a dozen times online, actually being there and feeling a bit awkward and not sure, hearing that? It’s amazing and it’s what allowed me to relax and finally get into the show. :-) Don’t/New Man is the only complete recording I have, so enjoy:
dailymotion
© edsmysterygirl/dailymotion
Next was Dive, but not before we participated in the who’s-the-loudest-crowd competition. I don’t think we broke any records, but IT WAS LOUD. Dive was absolutely amazing. I know a few people are disappointed Dive was never brought out as a single, but I think it makes it extra special. It’s amazing to see it live and hear the whole crowd singing along. I think Dive is a song that works best like that, and not necessarily as a radio single.
© edsmysterygirl/Tumblr
And then Bloodstream!!! Holy shit. The bounce thing. I always assumed it was kinda awkward to do. But it wasn’t at all. And it was so cool to see the whole pitch doing it in front of us. And don’t get me started on the ending! The “all the voices in my mind” part is hypnotizing. Absolutely amazing. You can just FEEL the music in your body.
© edsmysterygirl/Tumblr
Happier was up next. It’s such a beautiful song. You know what’s funny? The first time Ed sings “you’re happier,” you can hear the audience echo back “aren’t you?” even though that line is not supposed to be there. But we’re so used to singing it in the rest of the song that apparently we automatically do it the first time! Lol. Here’s the start of Happier:

Unfortunately, Tumblr only allows 5 videos per post, sooo...

Silverstein Debut “My Disaster (2.0)” From Upcoming ‘Redux II’ Re-Recorded Album
Continuing to prove why they’re one of the hardest working bands in the scene, despite the current pandemic and already releasing a new full-length album earlier this year, Canadian noisemakers Silverstein have yet another new release in store for their fans.
Due out digitally November 20th, Silverstein will be dropping their second installment of their self-released Redux series.
Commenting on the forthcoming 12-track album featuring re-recorded and re-worked songs from previous releases, vocalist Shane Told explains:
“REDUX: The First Ten Years was such a pleasure to make and so well received we knew we wanted to make another one at some point. Of course, we didn’t foresee the circumstances surrounding 2020, but it gave us some time and an opportunity to put together this super fun album of songs that never really held the spotlight. Most of these songs I always thought were great–underrated ‘deep cuts’ that unfortunately were hard to fit into the setlist but in many cases deeply revered by our biggest fans. We were excited to give these tunes a fresh coat of paint and in some cases make a few renovations that could maybe give them the attention they deserve.
I will admit a couple of the songs on this album weren’t my favorites when they were originally released. Maybe it was the mix, the performance, or the song itself, but for some reason they never quite spoke to me. We took on the challenge to find out exactly why they fell flat, and what we could do to find that original magic that existed when they were first written. These songs were reworked, rethought and perfected and now have become some of my favorites we have ever recorded. It’s refreshing and rewarding to be able to bring the knowledge and skills you’ve developed for so many years and go back and breathe new life into something from a different era of the band.
A huge thank you goes out to Sam Guaiana for taking on this REDUX project again and allowing us to share this album with you. He took our collective visions and transformed these songs into what they always should have been. I hope you enjoy these even more than the originals — I know I do.”

hi yujacha!! this is probably a weird question to ask lol but im going to see the happy party train tour live viewing on the 14th and my friend was supposed to come with but they dropped out last second so looks like i'll be going alone TT but do you have any advice for someone whos never gone to a concert or live screening alone?? aaa during the first live i went w my sister but im a total socially anxious mess and i get really nervous if a stranger sits next to me so its my first time alone TT
Hi there! I have no idea why everyone’s been telling me that their questions are weird lol - your question is great, in fact! Technically, I went to the delayed viewing of 1st Live in San Diego alone as well, since I was meeting ONIBE members for the first time ever back then and wasn’t sure if I would be able to get along with them. Fortunately, I discovered that the LL community is pretty friendly and ended up having a blast!
This is gonna get really long, so let me put a summary at the top.
tl;dr: There are lots of online resources to help you learn about viewings, from Team ONIBE’s guides to the meetup channels for the Love Live subreddit. It’s also no problem to go alone to a DV, as you have the potential to make plenty of new friends and get pumped up about the performance alongside LLers who share the same passion for Aqours.
For first-timer viewing advice, check out Team ONIBE’s concert guide! It contains a general checklist of what to bring (water, batteries, towel, etc.), instructions on how to use a kingblade, and some general etiquette about concerts.
I would also highly recommend looking over Team ONIBE’s 2nd Live callbook - the callbook’s been recently updated with details from the Saitama Day 2 setlist, as that’s the performance that’ll be screened at the delayed viewings on the 14th! It’s not mandatory to learn the calls, but in my opinion, it’s a lot more fun when you can join in on the hype along with the multitudes of fans who will be chanting and waving their lightsticks along with the performance. Don’t worry about having to memorize the calls exactly - once you’re at the viewing, it’s pretty simple to follow along with the crowd.
I believe there are some kind fans out there who are sort of taking charge as the community leaders for each DV, and have printed out large batches of these callbooks to pass out to LLers. If you want to make sure you have your own copy (IIRC they were in very high demand during the San Diego DV for 1st Live and the AWM live at AX2017), feel free to print one out on your own!
If you’re interested in making some new friends so that you won’t be completely surrounded by strangers, you can always check out the /r/LoveLive subreddit and Discord server! The server has created specific channels for each viewing so that people can plan meetups, while the subreddit has some threads scattered around it with various people asking for tips about LVs and such.
If you’re not interested in that (which would be understandable, as the /r/LL Discord server tends be be a bit…chaotic), let me offer you some personal advice. I unfortunately can’t say anything on the social anxiety side because I’m pretty good with talking to strangers (I kind of have to be after overcoming stage fright for debate club + needing to cold call people for work), but I can tell you that my experience with live events tends to be that most of the LLers I’ve met (including myself) are in fact socially awkward, haha. Just remember that a lot of people are just like you and meeting other LLers for the first time, so don’t worry too much.
Here’s my general tip on making friends: gather up your courage, approach someone, and find some kind of connection. Once you do that, you’re set.
For example, in my very first class on my very first day of high school, I approached a girl who was by herself (so that I wouldn’t awkwardly be third-wheeling an established friend group). I said, “Hey, I heard that this computer class we’re in requires a lab partner. You look like an okay person. Wanna team up?” She ended up becoming my first friend in high school, and we had tons of fun for the next four years.
I did the same thing in college - as an icebreaker, I asked someone if I could see their driver’s license (since a lot of people you meet in college hail from different locations) and compare it to my own. I then found out that she and I had the same exact birthday, and I told her, “Hey, we’re twins! Wanna eat lunch together later?” And to this day, she’s a dear friend who still refers to me as “Twin”.
I know that I’m making it sound really simple and easy, but it honestly can be if you put yourself in this mindset. Luckily for you, you already have a connection to people at the DV - you’re all LL fans!
Find someone who’s wearing merch of your favorite girl (and on that note, it’s a good idea to bring any nesos or other LL merch with you to DVs; they’re a great conversation starter) and gush about her with them. Or, approach a cosplayer and compliment them! They’re generally pretty happy folks. You can also try to approach a fellow newbie on their own, and see if you two can team up. I promise you, DVs are 10x more fun when you have someone to be excited with during the screening.
The point of a DV and all these community meetup channels is for people to have fun with others who share their love for Aqours. Instead of seeing everyone as strangers, just think of them as potential friends you have yet to get to know better! Other tips:
Ask people where they’re from - some people at DVs are locals, while others fly in from far-off locations!
Talk about the upcoming screening. What are you looking forward to the most? Do you have a favorite song? Is there a costume you’re excited to see? Who’s your favorite seiyuu?
Approach someone who looks experienced. They’ll likely be more than happy to help you out and introduce you to the finer points of attending a DV! :D
Another conversation starter - SIF. I saw a few people playing the game while waiting for the viewing to start, and had a friendly chat with one of them about how difficult it was to play with cut-ins.
Don’t fret that you absolutely have to make a new friend for the DV. The atmosphere of the live is infectious, and everyone just ends up being a huge incoherent mess of screaming and cheering anyway, haha.
Feel free to send me another ask or PM me if you have more questions! ( ・∀・ )ゞ
And as a final note - I’ll actually be going to not one, but two DVs this time around (RIP my bank account)! I’ll be at San Diego early on before driving up to Los Angeles. I’ll make a separate blog post with details sometime close to the 14th so that anyone who’s interested can say hi to me.
If you happen to be attending either of those screenings, I’ll be more than happy to make you feel welcome! Just be warned that I’ll be next to some ONIBE members, and we’ll all be screaming our heads off because we’re huge seiyuu fans, haha.

Live Blog: LCD Soundsystem
LCD Soundsystem Hollywood Palladium; Los Angeles, CA [11-18-2017] by Sam Goldner on 12-19-2017 To put it in James Murphy’s terms, I was there. I remember the day that LCD Soundsystem announced their tenure as a band would be coming to an end, that after three albums they had decided to put a cap on what I thought at the time was one of the most legendary runs in modern rock music. I remember trying to buy tickets for the final Madison Square Garden show, only to be thwarted by one of the most insane scalping-bot buyouts I have seen to this day. I remember the relief that washed over me when Murphy announced there would be a string of Terminal 5 shows the week before, all comprising the same three-hour, career-spanning setlist, and I remember buying my ticket and taking the bus from Boston to New York to say goodbye to one of my favorite bands. The LCD Soundsystem reunion has, to put it lightly, caused me a great deal of self-reckoning and re-evaluation, and James Murphy knows this. His post-announcement apology to the fans that he let down by reuniting was, if anything, a testament to the idea that Murphy remains a fanboy-as-rock-star, as close to being “one of us” as it gets when we’re talking about the constantly satellite position of being a nerdy record collector. It was that embodiment of the outsider-looking-in that drew me to LCD Soundsystem’s music in the first place, but in the five years that passed in the band’s absence, my perspective on their music changed. Where before, it felt exciting to listen to a group of artists whose observer’s stance in music felt in tandem with my own, now it seemed strangely embarrassing to listen to a song in which a 32-year-old man lists off all the obscure bands he likes in an attempt to reclaim his “edge” (and its supposed irony only made it worse). What I had begun to realize since leaving college is that treating music as if it is the center of the universe, rather than just as one beautiful reflection of it, is a dangerous way to go about living life, making the once-lovable nerdiness of LCD Soundsystem now seem like an image of my younger self that I’d rather leave behind. But all personal associations aside, when I saw the band at FYF a year ago, any reservations that I had about their reunion just washed away. Even as I stood in the crowd, thinking about how this was the first time I had seen a band both before and after they had broken up (which even at age 24, made me feel old), it simply didn’t matter compared to the sheer joy I felt dancing along to songs like “Us v Them” or “Yeah.” They sounded as amazing as ever, and I walked out of the festival relieved to know that a group of people having fun making music together was ultimately more important and satisfying than any B.S. notion of a perfect, untouchable three-album canon could ever be. Fast forward a year, and the band is touring on the back of their not-bad/not-great new record, American Dream. They lined up five nights at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles, and our same group of friends that we lost our shit with at FYF the year before all agreed to go. The tickets came out to a devastating $100 each, which right off the bat set an unfortunately high level of expectations for the night, and stood as a sobering reminder of just what sort of act LCD really are these days. Nonetheless, we were all excited, and even if the new album only had two or three keepers on it, we knew the band weren’t ones to walk on and do nothing but new material. The hits would be played. Unfortunately, this Hollywood Palladium show would end up confirming most of my original anxieties about LCD’s return. One of the driving sentimental themes behind LCD Soundsystem’s music is the idea that no matter how cool and young you may have been at one point, no matter how golden your glory days might have been, you still can’t go back. That melancholy reach towards the past is at the heart of Murphy’s party music, and though at their best, LCD Soundsystem manage to use that nostalgia to uncover invigorating new emotional territory of their own, this show at the Hollywood Palladium felt more like a formulaic re-tread than an inspired victory lap. For the first time, the band just didn’t have that spark, and as they ran through all the necessary crowdpleasers and a small helping of new tracks, it began to set in that this reunion was perhaps less an act of old friends getting together to do what they love, but instead something much more dreary: we were just watching them clock in. The show was off from the very beginning, with normally electric cuts like “Get Innocuous!” and “Daft Punk Is Playing at My House” sounding muddied, lacking their usual sense of gradually building bite. LCD songs thrive on their dynamics, their sense of patience, but for most of the show the band just seemed to plow through track after track, with little of the nuance that has epitomized their greatest work. A few songs into the set, Murphy asked everyone in the audience to shut off their phones, requesting that we all stop taking pictures and instead share this moment together and experience something real and blah blah blah. This type of comment has always struck me as pretentious no matter the show, but it seemed especially strange in Murphy’s case. For a band whose rise coincided with that of social media platforms like Instagram and Facebook, whose very first single declared the social currency implicit in saying “I was there,” and who even went so far as to stage a “final” run of concerts that essentially drew a line in the sand for fans of the band – either you were going to be one of the people at these legendary shows, or you weren’t – it seems to me that the very idea of taking pictures at a concert to show one’s friends is one that Murphy’s music has fed into from the beginning. I find it odd and a bit hypocritical that Murphy would act above this kind of behavior. In spite of the show’s weaker moments, there were a handful of songs wherein the band’s chemistry would suddenly kick back into gear, illustrating how exciting they can be when they’re truly in their element. “You Wanted a Hit” was a slow-burning monster, and the immediate one-two follow-up of “Tribulations” and “Movement” made for a mini rollercoaster of mosh-dancing that brought the evening to a delirious frenzy. The encore began with a powerful take on “Oh Baby,” the best song off American Dream, and climaxed with the still-amazing “Dance Yrself Clean,” which, as expected, lifted every single person in the room off the floor once the beat dropped three minutes in. During these intermittent periods of high-energy release, I regained some kind of hope that perhaps LCD does still have some life left in it as a project, that in spite of the band’s weaker versions of classics like “Someone Great” and “All My Friends,” there was still a well-oiled rhythm machine in there somewhere, one capable of making bodies move regardless of whatever legacy it may have wrapped itself up in so tightly. By and large, it was still a fun night, if just for the fact that going to a show with all my friends to see a band that we all love will always be fun. Even the band’s limper songs were still enjoyable to have happening in the background while I caught up with my crew, but until now, LCD had never been a band that I would’ve willfully talked over at a show. We’re all getting older, and to be frank, with LCD Soundsystem aging the way they have, I couldn’t really be too surprised that the show would end up being somewhat lackluster – I had been expecting as much a year before when I had seen them at FYF. But the fact is, that show a year ago was incredible, and it gave me the hope that this one would be just as good, which renders it all the more disappointing. Maybe Murphy was wrong; maybe you can actually can go back to the glory days for one night. You just can’t stay there. http://j.mp/2ByZdOY

My Concert Experience - 9/9/2017
A few weeks ago, I went to The Chance in Poughkeepsie, NY to see the band Metal Church in concert. There were 2 opening bands. This was my second time seeing Metal Church since Mike Howe came back to the band. Was looking forward to it.
Thoughts and pics under the cut.
Psychoprism:
Power metal-type music. Not too bad.
The singer was a chunkier guy, but he was able to do the high screams several times. Honestly did not expect that. Must have also been how people felt hearing Jon Oliva for the first time. *shrugs*
Even though I respect the effort and the people that can do the high metal screams, it got kinda old after a while. It’s like, we get it, you can do that King Diamond scream. You don’t need to do it every minute or so.
Ended their set with a cover of “You’ve Got Another Thing Coming” by Judas Priest. Introduced it by saying “Everyone in this place probably knows this song.”
Vox (Voices of Extreme):
More on the straight-up hard rock side. I had read online that they had just finished a tour opening for the band Tesla. Can definitely see that.
Would explain all of the Tesla songs playing over the PA while they were setting up. They definitely have some bangers, I won’t deny that. I loved that I saw people wearing thrash/death metal shirts singing along to songs like “Love Song” and “Modern Day Cowboy.” Proves that Tesla/good music can transcend subgenres.
They were pretty good.
Ended their set with a cover of “Won’t Get Fooled Again” by The Who. Couldn’t really pull off the YEAAAAAHHHHHHH as well, but who could, honestly.
Metal Church:
This was my second time seeing them since Mike Howe, their singer, returned to the band. Was excited to see them a second time.
The last time I had seen them, Chris Caffery, best known for his work with Savatage and Trans Siberian Orchestra, had subbed in for Rick van Zant, their usual lead guitarist (forgot why). This time, Rick was back, but Caffery was still in the building. He introduced the band, calling them one of his favorite bands and some of his best friends. Apparently, it was his birthday that day as well.
They also got a new drummer since the last time I saw them, Stet Howland. He had a cool goatee, IMO. Made me think of how someone from the band Powerwolf would look.
Started off with “Fake Healer.” Mike Howe sounded as good as ever.
The band’s joy was also as contagious as ever.
“In Mourning” after that, then “Start the Fire.”
Played a few songs from their most recent album: “Needle and Suture,” “Reset,” “No Tomorrow,” and “Killing Your Time.”
In the middle of the set, Kurdt Vanderhoof, one of their guitarists, introduced the band. He referred to bassist Steve Unger as “Big Sexy.” LOL. Mike Howe then introduced Kurdt when the latter was done.
Always good to hear “Watch the Children Pray” and “Beyond the Black.” I wish they would play more stuff from the first two albums. But Mike Howe didn’t sing on those albums originally, so I guess that’s understandable. They also haven’t really put out a bad album either, so.
Before they played “Badlands,” Chris Caffery came out on stage again and said a few more words. People wished him a happy birthday. Caffery ended up playing guitar on “Badlands” instead of Rick. Rick actually had to come on stage a couple times to fix a guitar strap that was falling off. LOL.
While the show was good, their setlist didn’t really change from the last time I saw them, with the exception of adding “Needle and Suture” and changing around the order of a few songs. Was honestly kinda disappointing, IMO. I was hoping they would at least play “Metal Church.”
Other Thoughts:
When I last saw them, I learned that after every show, Metal Church hangs out at the merch table and signs autographs and takes pics with fans. I wanted to do this the last time I saw them, but the person I was with was getting tired and wanted to leave. I promised myself that if I was by myself, I would be so there.
And I was by myself. So I was so there.
I ended up loitering around the place for about 20-30 minutes after the show ended before the band came out to the merch table. Chris Caffery was sitting at the bar, but I ended up being too much of a wuss to ask for a pic. I guess I was also worried about disturbing him. *shrugs*
I realized I didn’t have anything to get signed, but luckily, they had little posters at the merch table, so I got one to get signed.
I basically got to shake everyone’s hands and they all thanked me for coming out. Stet called me sweetie, and I got pics with Mike and Kurdt. I unfortunately was too much of a wuss to say anything other than “Hi” and “You’re welcome” when they said thanks for coming out. As much as I wanted to say things like, “Have you considered playing ‘Metal Church’?” or “Your joy was contagious/you still sound great”, etc.
I also got a tank top from the merch table before the show, mostly because the smallest t-shirt size they had was a large.
Overall, it was a good time.

My Experience at #BeautifulinNY + Tips
So let me start with the fact that this was my very first time to go on a k-pop concert and I was so nervous, hard to explain why. I tried to read people’s experiences from previous concerts, but that didn’t calm my nervousness.
{long post ahead}
Unfortunately, I do not own a lightstick, so that made me a little bit sad. I could have pre-ordered it (to pick it up at the venue) or buy it there because they set up a table for merch. But I found it kinda expensive for $55 so for this time I gave up on it. One thing to note, it’s better if you order it before the concert (which I wanted to but was sold out on their site) because everything is more expensive at the venue. Like I legit bought a pack of stickers for $25 which was a lot, I know, but that was the only thing left by the end of the concert and I didn’t want to walk out without an official merch. (the fangirl was strong in me post concert)
Anyway, back to the beginning.
I left work at 1 pm and when I got home I got ready and waited for my mom to come home from work. I started to panic about not getting there on time so I decided to watch Monsta X Ray’s new ep while eating ramen, only for Wonho lol While I was watching them on my screen, it was still hard to process in my mind that I will see these guys in a few hours perform right in front of my own naked eyes.
I saw on Twitter that people were already lining up by the venue and I was seriously freaking out. Although my ticket was for P3-P5 (somewhere in the back lol) and I knew I have an exact seat and everything, I was still worried that I’m going to miss something.
So it was almost 6 pm when we left the house and got on the D train (which I hate because it always fucks me up). We got off by Bryant Park/42nd st around 6:45-ish and went to Playstation Theatre at Times Square. There were so many people so I didn’t see at first where the line was for the venue. But then by the entrance, I saw some people standing there but the security came and put us in the right direction for the line. Good thing to know, Playstation Theatre is located on 44th st and 7th ave and the security told us to go to 45th street and 8th ave. So we followed the line and looked for the end. BUT WHERE WAS THE END??? like legit almost at the other side of the whole block, like I don’t even know how to explain it but it was damn long. And people were still lining up after us so it became even longer.
We had to wait for one and a half hour to get into the venue and by then it was way past 8 pm, which was supposedly the starting time of the show. I had no idea why it was delayed, why the line went so slowly, and I don’t think anyone around me knew it. But later on twitter, I read fans saying that a fan got injured in the line and that’s why. Which is actually a nice thing that they took care of the fan and didn’t ignore the injury. I didn’t mind standing in line for long because at least I got the chance to buy a fanmade cute Kihyun cut out that I could hang on my neck. I would have bought Jooheon’s too but it was all gone TT but I love that thingy so much like I hung it up on my neck even for breakfast the next day. And I also got a banner for free, which was handed out to everyone and it said “I’ll protect you, so you can bloom more beautifully” in English and in Korean (Beautiful lyrics) and I loved how the directions were on the back, like when do we need to hold it up and in English, Spanish, French, and Korean. We held up ours at 5:14 (Last Page), the very last song.
So fast forward to when we finally got into the venue, it wasn’t actually long after that they came out and boy the screams were so loud but of course I joined in. (I had no voice by the end and even now while writing this my throat still hurts). The setlist was pretty much the same as in Chicago so I won’t be going over that.
After Hero ended they greeted us and they had an “official” translator who was pretty quick with translating hopefully everything that they said. I have to just say I can’t get enough of Changkyun’s English, I really love it lol
They interacted a lot with the crowd like they were always like ‘are you having fun’, ‘did you like what we just did?’ and I think those were really good for hyping up the crowd. They also did like small comedy bits like who is the most romantic and they showed, sang something to prove their romantic sides. They also sang snippets from songs that have New York in it like Kihyun sang a bit from Empire State of Mind. Hyunwoo from English Man in New York. Also Wonho mentioned that Hyunwoo is a romantic person because he buys his friends in Korea all different types of presents. I got to experience Jooheon’s and Kihyun’s beatboxing lol Jooheon also sang from GD’s Untitled.
They talked SO much about Hyungwon and I really loved that. At the beginning and at the end they mentioned him too, and Wonho after they did their special stages and how he hoped he could fill in for Hyungwon. It made me feel really warm especially as I saw how many times they left a special space out for Hyungwon and sometimes acted as if he was there too.
The performances were SO L I T, they were dancing so well and so powerfully and the energy was no joke. But then they were also able to slow it down and make the crowd melt with songs like Ex Girl, Honestly, I’ll Be There, and Sweetheart. I like how one time Changkyun was like we gonna slow down to mid tempo and they literally sang their slowest song, Broken Heart. And then Kihyun’s iconic mom moment to Changkyun with ‘There is something on your face’ and started to get something off from his face. And Kihyun wiped the sweat off from Wonho (K I H O) They also mentioned like twice for the pit to take a few steps back for safety. That’s how Hyunwoo’s ‘please safety’ was born. (did I mention how much I started to love Hyunwoo after the show? Like literally he was one of the highlights of the concert.)
I also loved their outfits, especially when they went for this mint theme. And then for the rocker versions of songs, like there is nothing better than rocker!kihyun and his leather jacket.
Their special stages were no joke. When Hyunwoo, Minhyuk, and Changkyun performed 24k Magic, the whole crowd was excited because it’s everyone’s fave song don’t lie. Wonho performing From 0 with their dancer was great, but I missed Hyungwon. Especially that ionic movement in the dance was weird with the dancer and not with Hyungwon lol but it was still great and Wonho put his heart into fully.
But my favorite was definitely Mirror by Jooheon and Kihyun. When Jooheon was having sort of his highest point in the rap parts, I legit got goosebumps. He is such an amazing rapper, I was truly speechless. But then Kihyun’s powerful voice added even more to it, and that performance really left me amazed. I knew I have the right biases. THESE TWO LOVES OF MY LIFE DESTROYED ME.
They also had some problem with moving the chair like lol one problem was that they were sitting on it (during the slower songs) so no surprise but I think it also got stuck in something. Which reminds me of… WHY STUCK WASN'T ON THE SETLIST? It’s like legit one of my biggest faves from them, but they performed Blind and it was sexy and I was close to passing out.
Their vcrs were cute and creative. First they had one before the unit performances where they talked about what they prepared. I couldn’t see the screen well but there were English subtitles and I could kind of read it, so that was helpful. They were being dorky and I love nothing more than that haha. The other one was a bit more emotional because they were showing a mature side of them and a whole story. I don’t remember exactly how it all went down, I definitely have to watch it again. But it was emotional, that’s for sure, and it showed how important it is for them to be together and stick with each other.
Also Wonho the dear clumsy one accidentally spilled his candies from the basket to the stage and he was throwing them to fans from the floor. Jooheon was also there picking all up probably until the very last one was thrown to a fan, and he even bent down for them while singing his part in Sweetheart. One thing is that his voice was stable lol but even my mom mentioned it that how considerate of him was to not let them go to waste and make sure fans can have them. (side note, after Hyunwoo and Wonho, my mom’s new fave, she even said almost #1, became Jooheon lol we are in the same boat now)
It also took them forever to come back for the encore. I thought they are going to leave us so we had to chant Monsta X two times and we even started to chant Hyungwon :’) but then they finally came back and it was better waiting for longer because it was more precious to see them again. It took them longer because they changed into another outfit. And then they performed Fighter (L I T) and 5:14 (Last Page) (S A D). It took them so long to say goodbye because they shared their thoughts again, we had a picture taken, and then they bowed like four times from four different directions (while dragging each other hand by hand from one side of the stage to the other) Even my mom said that it looked as it was hard for them to say goodbye. Trust me, I didn’t want to say goodbye either. 2 hours was enough and I was exhausted, yet it still feels like it went by so fast.
But I happened to fall in love with them once again. They are so humble, down to earth, but then SO SO SOOO talented and powerful and energetic and funny and know how to hype up the crowd. I’m so happy that they were my first group for my kpop concert experience because I wasn’t disappointed at all. And I love them so much pls give more love and appreciation to Monsta X, they deserve the world.
Here are some concert tips:
it’s okay if you don’t own a lightstick and can’t afford to buy merch, you are still a true fan ^^
don’t worry if you can’t get to the venue early, if you are not in the pit then it doesn’t matter when you enter the venue, just try to be there at least around the time when the doors open and have time for yourself to use the bathroom, eat, and look through the merch they have
BUT if you are in a big city and you rely on public transportation then it’s good to get out of your house early because you never know when they will get into a problem, same with cars and traffic
if you have time, prepare with the fan chants because it always makes it better for the crowd and for the idols
try to know more info about fan projects and freebies or even fan made merch for a couple of dollars — it’s always good to be up to date and to support fellow fans, I told my mom I would rather buy from a fan a few handmade cutesy stuff while supporting that fan than buying a bunch of expensive merch at the venue, I mean it’s everyone’s different opinion but I always have the chance to support the boys, but not always have the chance to support fans
wear something comfortable on foot and prepare for standing up for the whole concert even if you have a seat (i was standing the whole time too)
bring a smaller bag, preferably not a big backpack, a small one is fine
prepare to be either very cold or very hot: like when I went to see 5SOS I was feeling cold in MSG but in Playstation Theatre there was legit no AC (idk how the boys could handle it TT) and I was burning up
if you have a shitty android like me and not an iPhone with a great camera, that’s okay if you record at least their voices are still good on the recording especially if you catch the ment part, otherwise songs with heavy bass and techno sound won’t be that good
a lot of people say this but it’s true: try to enjoy the concert and not record the whole thing — it won’t be that good anyway on your phone as if you see it with your own eyes, that’s why I decided for some of my fave songs to record maybe like 30 seconds or something and then I put my phone away and for the ment I really wanted to record their talk but even then I was just holding my phone but not really focusing on the stage through it
try to socialize (this is a big tip for myself too), concerts are great to befriend people with the same interest and likes as you, I did talk to some people but it’s not like I befriended them because I’m a social flopp and my mom was there with me too so I was just talking to her
if you have no idea about kpop concerts, like me, then know that hi-touch is after the show (at least that’s how it was) and the security makes everyone leave who doesn’t have a wrist band for the event, but they still let you take a few pics of the venue and of the stage, just hurry up because if it takes more time for them to push people out then the hi-touch is delayed and it’s bad for the fans and for the boys too
Specifically for Playstation Theatre:
The venue is small so be ready to feel a little crowded
but the good thing is that even if the stage is far (if you have a seat like in P5) it’s not as far as in a stadium
if you are in P5, don’t expect to see the screen, Playstation Theatre has a couple of small TVs hung up above people and they are just in the way to see the screen
I was legit so mad I wanted to tear all of them out from the ceiling like you think they might show them on those small TVs too but NOPE I guess they never thought about advanced technology and multi screening
There is a place for you to give your coats in
the restroom is pretty lol it kind of reminded me of Harry Potter because all the sinks are placed in the middle of the room and I felt like we can get down to the Chamber of Secrets in New York, besides they also blasted Shine Forever (when they give you nice background music for peeing lmao)
So that’s it from my part, I hope I could cover everything important but even if I was there I couldn’t process everything because it was so fast and I was so happy and living in the moment. I’m definitely going to watch back some videos and be nostalgic about it lol I’m also waiting for the HQ version of THIS pic which was taken there by wonderful fansite-nim, I thank you with my life
If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to message me or send me an ask ^^
btw, at the beginning of the concert while we were lining up on the street, a random old lady asked us if it’s worth lining up for this long for the concert and hell yeah it was so I think that once in your life you deserve to see your faves and to not care about how much it costs. It was great for not thinking about life’s problems for two hours and just to enjoy the moment. So please be kind to yourselves.

[REPORT] EDP × beatnation summit 2017 -beatnation 10th Anniversary- & After Party!
What happens when you bring the biggest names in BEMANI together for a special live event and after-party talk show? You get…
EDP × beatnation summit 2017 -beatnation 10th Anniversary-
-INFORMATION-
Originally announced just about 3 months ago on Konami’s BEnama #161, this event was not only a major EDP (Exit Tunes Dance Party), but also a celebration of the beatnation records label’s 10th anniversary!
beatnation records, for those unfamiliar, is Konami’s in-house label that has released various albums, such as BEMANI Original Soundtracks, or artists’ solo albums. The 7 members include:
dj TAKA (Ishikawa Takayuki)
DJ YOSHITAKA (Nishimura Yoshitaka)
L.E.D. (Kakuta Toshiyuki)
Sota Fujimori
Nekomata Master (Sato Naoyuki)
kors k (Saito Kosuke)
Ryu☆ (Nakahara Ryutaro)
In 2007, the group held their first concert: “beatnation summit –beatmania IIDX premium Live-” in two small locations in Japan, with just 600 and 200 visitors able to attend each one. The label, the games’ popularity, and the live industry has grown since then, and this year’s event was a celebration of the past 10 years of the beatnation label.
This year, some special ticket sets were sold, including a Super VIP set, containing a Limited-Edition pen light, a wristband, a ticket to the front section of the concert, and a ticket for the after-party talk event, held the next day.
It also contained a redemption card to exchange for the Official Pamphlet – a roughly $15 premium booklet including artist profiles and interviews, a special talk session, and most importantly, these pictures:
Excellent.
On the day of the event, March 18th, interested parties headed over to STUDIO COAST in Shin-Kiba, located conveniently east of Tokyo Station, in a somewhat quiet industrial part of the city. There was a limit on the queuing for goods this time, so if you wanted to secure a purchase as fast as possible, you had to turn up at 6am for a randomly-numbered ticket, which determined your place in the line that was starting at 8:30, with goods only going on sale starting at 10am. Some fans turned up early, only to receive a disappointingly high number:
【#EDP2017】 新木場スタジオコースト到着。 整理券配布始まってます。 整理券はすべてランダムで配布されてます。
整理券を受け取った後、列成形は8.時半からとのことです。 pic.twitter.com/sfcV3ElMYM
— ぼぶだんぷ@EDPありがとうー! (@nabarinobob) March 17, 2017
What exactly were they hoping to get? Take a look below at the catalog for event goods:
There were also a large number of CDs available for sale, although those didn’t require waiting in much of a line or arriving early.
For those arriving at a normal time…
Over the river and…
Here we are! STUDIO COAST, also known as the “ageHa” club venue, was ready for the crowds, and a line formed around 10am towards the gachapon capsule machines, where one of 21 different designs was available:
I tried my luck 4 times with the following results:
On a stage area just left of the building, there were 3 massive cut-out stands of the crew, as well as kors k in one of his signature poses, and Ryu☆’s newest album:
Lots of fans enjoyed taking pictures with these until after the event finished! A great new idea for this year’s EDP.
Speaking of new ideas – a very interesting collaboration between EDP and two popular magazines, GROOVE and Sound & Recording, yielded three different items: a custom T-shirt with your choice of various event photos of the concert, a standard T-shirt with 4 choices of colors and logo designs, or a Totebag with those same choices:
After the official goods area had quieted down a bit, I wandered over to take a peek…
This time around, credit cards were accepted in addition to cash and the whole process went extremely smoothly, especially compared to previous events. What sold out first was almost all older goods/back stock, followed by the official event goods:
Some lucky winners (who purchased over 10,000円 worth) got their hands on one of these artist signboards:

— ○おうめうろこ3/18EDP○ (@Oumeuroko) March 18, 2017
When it was time to head inside, guess who had the #1 ticket in line?! None other than Mr. “Gorilla of the North” – who travelled all the way from Hokkaido for this event:

— おれす@ミリオン台湾公演 (@olasejim) March 18, 2017
After grabbing a drink ticket (which I should have IMMEDIATELY exchanged for a bottle of water but forgot…) I proceeded into the Super-VIP [forefront] area which held around 150 people just in front of the main stage.
The venue for this event was quite nice, with excellent sound, plenty of ventilation and, an amazing stage setup including lasers (By MiU) and smoke/ice.

Just before curtain time, we were lucky enough to get a great shot of the rare 北のゴリラ in his natural habitat:
Meanwhile, backstage, the artists and other performers were having a fun time:

-ANOTHER FLOOR-
Before the Main Floor (stage) started, the Another Floor (with an amazing line-up) got started in a separate area, with none other than beatmania IIDX Pro-player DOLCE. as the opening act:

— dolce_iwate (@dolce_iwate) March 19, 2017
Massive New Krew also brought their latest hit “HADES” to the floor:

— ヒゲドライVAN Gt. 社長 (@aida_yusaku) March 18, 2017
MASAYOSHI IIMORI also gave a special performance there:
今日はこんな感じでした pic.twitter.com/Fgk9EIrgV6
— MASAYOSHI IIMORI (@masayoshiiimori) March 18, 2017
Unfortunately for many fans hoping to see their favorites on the Another Floor, the timetable overlapped with the Main Floor. While the passage between the two areas was open, moving from your initial spot would mean you aren’t getting back there. Most everyone in the VIP area with me stayed there the entire time. If I had just bought a normal ticket however, I’d probably go back-and-forth to catch all the best moments of both. My only gripe is the overlap of the times.
-MAIN FLOOR & SETLIST-
The main stage heated up at 3:30pm, with an excellent opening act by kors k! His set included:
Gimme a Big Beat
Insane Techniques
M4K3 1T B0UNC3
the shadow
Playing With Fire
Rave Cannon
Uh-Oh
smooooch ・∀・ (2014)
Super Rush

Next up, Sota Fujimori brought back some classic tracks along with some new ones for a high-energy set that blew my mind, finishing with a special guest appearance by Camellia:
Rise’n Beauty
Back Into The Light (Feelings Won’t Fade)
Fly Above

After that, a hardstyle all-L.E.D.-G set got the crowd even more pumped up!

After the last song, everyone knew what was coming next. As L.E.D. quickly changed clothes, everyone switched their penlights to pink, for Prim‘s set, including an unexpected twist!

At this point, the live was halfway over, and there was a short 10-minute intermission. Immediately following that, it was time for the VENUS stage!
Survival Games -ZEUS Mix-
FUJIMORI -祭- FESTIVAL
Samba de 恋心
Chu☆Chu☆ Tonight
Wow Wow VENUS
恋愛観測 -VENUS Mix-
At the beginning, DJ TOTTO came out on stage to DJ, and to everyone’s surprise, Yoshitaka and Sota appeared on the balcony in the upper-rear of the hall! After a short performance there, including an awesome keytar solo from Sota, they dashed down to the front stage and continued on, accompanied by dance unit “TITAN” – Dai., Yossy, Hirayasu Matsudo, and newcomer LEO. In addition, wac and NU-KO joined the stage for their final song!

Coming up after that was Nekomata Master with a very “猫叉Master+“-focused set, including some special guests:

The next artist, Xceon, came on stage to a warm welcome, as he brought along newcomer vocalist Kanae Asaba as well as Mayumi Morinaga:

Mayumi and the two dancers, all wearing clothes designed by VJ Halka, stayed on stage to sing along with the next act, Ryu☆! This started out with a beautiful extended intro on Oboro:
朧 (feat. Mayumi Morinaga + Dai. & Yossy)
OOO (feat. moimoi + Dai. & Yossy)

The final act was, of course, the IIDX “King” himself, dj TAKA! His set was filled with some incredible moments including Mei, of all songs, plus a special appearance by wac to play the difficult keyboard in Zirkfied, and finally, the full extended version of True Blue, complete with English lyrics shown on-screen, where the entire crowd sung along:
Broken
V
ZZ
冥
ΕΛΠΙΣ
quaver♪
Zirkfied
津軽雪
天空の夜明け
True Blue
After the stage darkened, the crowd immediate started an “Encore!” call, which lasted quite a long time…
But, out came beatnation records for one last set of collaborations:
Chain of pain / kors k VS 猫叉 Master+
Go Ahead / Ryu☆ vs. Sota
焔極OVERKILL / RoughSketch vs. L.E.D.-G
Triple Counter / DJ YOSHITAKA meets dj TAKA
After this excellent high-energy part, the entire cast came out on stage, and 2 announcements were made. First, kors k has been promoted to “Producer” at EDP (EXITTUNES DANCE PRODUCTION)
And…
EDP Japan Tour 2017! 6/4 Osaka @ club JOULE 6/11 Nagoya @ X-HALL-ZEN 7/?? in Fukuoka (planned)
Finally, Special Guest Kanako Hoshino came out on stage to sing a special version of the event’s theme, “crew” along with NU-KO and Mayumi Morinaga.
crew / beatnation Records feat.星野奏子

After an ending credit roll sequence, the event finally concluded. Outside, some fliers were given out including one, announcing kors k and REDALiCE’s final S2TBTANO*C event:
As the guests headed out, many stopped to take this great picture:
-AFTER PARTY-
The official After Party was held in two time slots in Shibuya at Tokyo Culture Culture. Our VIP ticket got us into the Afternoon slot, and we also purchased a ticket for the Evening time.
(Yes, they fixed the typo afterwards.)
The event was essentially a talk session including whichever artists wanted to stop by, including:
Ryu☆, kors k, Halka, Mayumi Morinaga, Xceon, Dai., Yossy, RoughSketch, Kanae Asaba, BlackY, Yooh, C-Show, MK, Camellia, t+pazolite, and secret beatnation guest Sota Fujimori!
All the guests chose parts of the live to watch on the big screen, and give a live commentary about various aspects, such as the song production, backstage information, and many more interesting stories.
A special drink menu was also available including Black or White cocktails, Superfried Gyoza, and more:
Plenty of interesting stories were heard. Hopefully this kind of event happens again! It was a lot of fun.

BTS Wings Tour Anaheim (4/1/17)
I know this is like 2 weeks late but I’ve been busy since the concert so anyway....
This will be an in-depth description of one of the best concerts of my life. Read more after the cut! (I even put some pictures I took!!!)
I’ll begin with the ticketing process. I was minding my own business on my way to work with my mother on November 18, 2016 when Big Hit decided to drop the Wings Tour video.
I was shocked!!! Amazed!!! Taken off guard. I was in the car and actually sat there and used up some of my data to watch this the first time. I had figured BTS was doing a world tour in 2017 but Big Hit is evil and I thought they would give some more warning. I thought wrong. Back to the trailer... I absolutely LOVE the remix of Interlude: Wings that was used. I watched that video repeatedly throughout the day. I’m still salty at Big Hit for only adding Outro: Wings to You Never Walk Alone vs. Outro Wings AND the remix. (I could also go into how Big Hit needs to release the MV teaser version of Blood Sweat & Tears but alas...). I had decided right then and there (actually before this) that I was going to try with all of my power and within a reasonable price range that I was going to make it to the Wings Tour. I was determined, KCON LA in 2016 was just not enough!!! I knew BTS would come to somewhere in California, be it Staples Center in downtown LA or Honda Center in Anaheim. I know they locations were settled by then but that DID NOT stop me from tweeting Big Hit hoping that they would be at Honda Center instead. (I experienced the evils of Staples Center and having to buy tickets via AXS. NEVER AGAIN TBH).
I waited for days and Big Hit finally started releasing tour dates and eventually days when tickets would go on sale. As expected, BTS was coming to Anaheim. I thanked Big Hit and the high heavens that it was Honda Center. I only had to deal with Ticketmaster, nothing else! I underestimated the amount of people that were hellbent on buying tickets for the Newark shows. After seeing people talk about how fast the first show sold out, I was highly worried I wouldn’t be able to get my Anaheim tickets. I was stressing! So I did the only logical thing, when Powerhouse released the second set of Newark tickets, I tried my hand and attempting to get a pair. I wasn’t going to be buying them, but I wanted to see how the process went. I had seen people talking about using the Ticketmaster app vs. the website so I had everything set up and ready to go. I’d like to say that I was extremely lucky because when those Newark tickets went on sale, I was actually able to snag two. I didn’t pay of course and let them go, but it quelled at least a little bit of my worries for when I had to buy my tickets later in December.
The day had come. December 14, 2016. I was prepared to buy my tickets. Unfortunately because of times zones, I was at work when the tickets went on sale BUT my supervisor is an angel. I had told her the week before that I needed to take my break earlier during my shift so I could focus on buying my BTS tickets. She agreed! So there I was, sitting at the desk nervously waiting for the time to tick down. I had already had a Ticketmaster account with my credit card connected so that just made everything that much easier. I did have my mom also log in on her computer and phone and wait just like me. I had read from a few people that within the last minute or so of waiting, they began refreshing the Ticketmaster page and actually got to buy their tickets about 20 seconds faster than the allotted time. I also had read that people going to the second to cheapest tier of tickets (P4) had issues getting what they wanted because the seats were more limited compared to other levels. I was aiming for P4 because that’s where I sat for BigBang’s MADE Tour and it was a good view. With this info in mind, I bit the bullet and decided that I would go for P2 tickets instead. A whole $100 more but I didn’t want to have to pay more from scalpers later for any other section. So there I was, sat at the desk refreshing the Ticketmaster page every 3 seconds until the time came to buy them. I benefitted from the tip of refreshing because just as another ARMY had stated, I got my two tickets right before the actual time came. I WAS SO HAPPY! I had gotten two P2 tickets that were four rows from the general admission standing area as well as close to the extended stage!!! My mom tried and actually got two more tickets but we didn’t end up buying them for obvious reasons (and they were the elusive P4 tickets!). In my excitement I think I just listened to Interlude: Wings (and the rest of Wings tbh) and danced around for the rest of the day, I was excited!!!
In the months leading up to April 1, we got everything else together...not in a timely manner though lol. I love my mother and she has taught me many things including how to procrastinate. We probably could’ve gotten slightly cheaper plane tickets but it’s all water under the bridge now. We got plane tickets and booked our car and hotel and we were set. In the week before the concert I began my normal ritual of listening to the group’s entire discography. I did go back and find the Wings Tour setlist and listened to that exclusively in the few days prior. I also played the tour specific playlist for my mom just to reacquaint her with every BTS song I’d already had her listen to previously.
Fast forward to Saturday, April 1, 2017. The day of the concert. I had wanted to take the day off of work, but my mom (who I work with) didn’t want to miss out on getting paid that day, so we went to work. We were the from 7:30 am to 2:00 pm. We had already preplanned everything and were already packed and ready to head to the airport. Flying with carry on only luggage is such a breeze AND we ended up getting TSA Pre Check so it literally took us about 5 minutes to get through everything and on to our gate. We flew into John Wayne Airport because duh it’s way closer and our hotel was literally down the street. We got to our hotel, changed our clothes, and headed out around 6:30-6:45? I had read that at the Newark and Chicago stops the doors were opened earlier so I didn’t expect there to be much of a line. My mother took this to mean that we could leave later, but whatever at this point. We were SHOCKED that there were still a bunch of lines around outside. I know there other cool stuff to do around the venue but I my precious time was running out! After waiting in line for about 20 minutes we finally made it in. My mom had drank some coffee before we left the hotel (bad decision tbh) and had to use the bathroom but I was worried that the concert was going to start. We decided to find our section then she would go back. We passed the life-sized BTS cutouts and I should’ve listened to my mom and taken my pictures then, but I was desperate ok! We found our seats at about 7:55 and the concert started at 8:05. Once I had gotten to my seat the kind ARMY volunteers were still handing out the bags for the Fire ocean and Rainbow ocean projects. I didn’t have an Army Bomb or buy one (I’ll keep that $60 for something else tbh) but I promised myself I’d actually participate and use my phone flashlight. My mom returned from the bathroom and once again commented on the fact that everyone was screaming at the music video (LMAO but I agree) and then... the lights went down!
From this point on I think I’ll make each song it’s own paragraph...
As previously stated I knew what song was coming anyway, but still. The first VCR came up with ensuing screams and then... Not Today! I have a love and less love relationship with this song. It sounds so noisy sometimes but then others I can’t get enough? And listen to it or watch the MV on repeat? Anyway, BTS started the concert on the main stage, which wasn’t like exceedingly far from me, but not the closest either. I liked the live performance etc etc. I was sufficiently whelmed at this point lol. Also this was the beginning of the assault on my eardrums. The screams were SO LOUD. My mom had randomly put some earplugs in her purse and she already had to use them.
Next was Am I Wrong. I actually really like this song, but didn’t like the choreography all that much. I had watched some of the music show performances but I was still meh. (Maybe it’s because I get tired of music shows and watching the same choreo in different outfits for 4 weeks lol). Anyway I didn’t now what I was expecting buy actually seeing the choreo made me love it soooo much! I’m sorry for distrusting you Son Sungdeuk, it’s great!
On to Baepsae/Silver Spoon/Crow Tit/what have you. One of my favorites! I will just say that I love this song and the choreo... so many hip thrusts but I love. If you didn’t know, my absolute, unwavering, all time favorite is J-Hope aka Dance King Jung Hoseok. He was being very rude during this song and I don’t appreciate it!!! I felt so attacked! He killed his end segment, I need to find a video of his gloriousness.
It was Dope when I realized that BTS was using live band audio. And for that I am eternally grateful. I figured there wouldn’t be a live band but I’m glad they used the recording from the Seoul concerts because BTS + live band is better than any studio recording (for the most part) and I love. I absolutely love the guitar in this and I was not disappointed. Anyway, Dope was dope. I had already seen them perform this at KCON and seeing it a second time live was just as good as the first. After writing about Baepsae I’d just like to say that Jung Hoseok was incredibly rude during Dope as well. He can’t just do a simple hip thrust. I had watched fancams from previous stops and during the hip thrust parts he did these really small controlled thrusts and man. I was dead! He’s gotten so bold since Blood Sweet & Tears came out and I’M SUFFERING!
After Dope was the second VCR. I need to find video of it and all of the VCRs because the music in this one was great! I hope and pray that Big Hit uses the music from the VCRs in actual BTS music but I won’t hold my breath. I’ll just tweet at Big Hit and Hitman Bang with my wishes which will go unheard.
After the VCR ended, it was time for the solos to begin (no pun intended lol). It started off with Begin, Jungkook’s solo. I love this song and it’s actually one of my top favorites from Wings. I wanted to be at least a little surprised about some of the performances since I had already spoiled the setlist for myself, so I didn’t watch any fancams of the member solos. I knew Jungkook was going to dance the whole time but I was still blown away? The footwork was so intricate and he was doing all of that AND singing live. He was wonderful. I honestly stood there and had THE BIGGEST smile on my face the whole song. I don’t really have a bias list for BTS but after the concert he’s definitely in my top favorites with Hoseok and Yoongi now.
Lie. Oh Like. Jimin did such a good job. I had actually seen little snippets of it, but I wasn’t ready. After seeing his outfit, I was offended. That low cut shirt and his collarbones were too much!!! Lie was great. I particularly loved the part where the backup dancers lifted him up. I had promised myself I wouldn’t take too many pictures/video because what’s the point of enjoying a concert through a phone screen (I am a terrible multi-tasker ok) but I tried to get a picture of when they lifted him up. I don’t think it turned out that well but whatever. At the end of the song my mom told me that she had really liked Begin and Lie. Success!!!
Next was Yoongi and First Love. I know it’s more of a chill song so I was wondering what he’d do for his solo stage. I expected Yoongi to come out and stand while rapping and there would probably be a piano. What I wasn’t expecting was for the stage platforms to rise with 4 string instrument players!? I was shocked!!! Yoongi did fantastic and I really loved the strings. I was watching someone’s fancam later and they pointed out that towards the end it was either the strings or the recording but So Far Away’s music was playing in the background. How perfect tbh. I enjoyed it!
The next few songs are part of my favorite parts of the concert! (I’m not kidding. Lost, Save Me and I Need U are some of my top BTS songs). It was finally time for the extended stage to be used in all of it’s glory. Our seats were on the side of our section closest to the extended stage so we could see when the platform would lower for BTS to get ready for their next performance. The platform rose again and out popped Jin, Jimin, Taehyung, and Jungkook to bless us with Lost. Once again, I didn’t watch fancams minus a few seconds so I didn’t really see all of their choreo. I love Lost and the choreo for it was cute and not overly taxing, which I liked.
Save Me. My ultimate favorite BTS song. I was blessed with being able to see Save Me at KCON but this time it was on the extended stage so I was so close. I about died at this point. My favorite song with them only 50 feet (I don’t know really I’m just making this up ok) in front of me where I can actually see their facial features etc. Magical. I, along with most other people in the venue, sang our hearts out. It was great.
I Need U was next. If I say that Save Me is my ultimate favorite, I Need U is next. It only got bumped to second because of Save Me tbh. For some reason I had read the setlist wrong at first and had left I Need U out of my tour setlist playlist and I was bumming myself out for no reason lol. Like I was sitting there thinking how could life go on with me seeing BTS in concert but them not doing I Need U. Then I looked it up again and got myself together lol. I know the crowd was hype for the whole concert but there was just something about I Need U that seemed really special. I have watched so many videos of I Need U performances but it took this concert with the extra backup dancers to really understand one part of the choreo. Towards the end when Jungkook I think is in the middle and everybody falls down around him. It really looks like a flower opening up/blooming. How I managed to not notice this before, I’m not sure but I thought that part was especially awesome. Once again, thank you Son Sungdeuk for you superior choreography.
I feel like there as a VCR at this point. I was trying to keep a note open to keep track of stuff like this but I gave up after Dope lol. Anyway if this is correct VCR that I’m thinking of, it has Namjoon in it but THE BEST part about it is that the music in the VCR ends up being part of their hidden track from 2Cool4Skool, Path (Road, Gil, whatever you want to call it). I was really touched. That song totally pertains to the tough journey of youth themes but it’s shocking they used it considering they’ve been paying it dust is fiveever. So the VCR is of Namjoon and his Wings short film and lo and behold, the telephone booth makes an appearance which segues into his performance.
For Reflection, Namjoon’s solo, the platforms on the stage rose and what else but the phone booth. It wasn’t until this solo that I began to realize that for every solo before and after Namjoon’s, the members got to wear these really pretty sequined blazers. I feel like Namjoon’s outfit was from the Japanese designer that he’s really into right now, but I can’t be certain. So Reflection. I liked it well enough but it’s grown on me even more and the live performance made me love it even more. I knew people were going to do some fanchants and they were so loud! It was during the part where he repeats, “I wish I could love myself.” He said that and the crowd chanted, “We love you.” I guess since Chile he’s been changing the lyrics to “I wish we could love ourselves” after the chants and he did the same for this performance. At the end of him performance, Namjoon went back into the phone booth which was a great transition into Taehyung’s solo.
Sitgma. So the lights on the stage dimmed as Namjoon went into the phone booth and of course he went below stage is Taehyung came up and out Taehyung came from the same phone booth. I really love Stigma and I’m so glad he pulled it off. I know from the first Seoul concert Taehyung struggled a little bit with the high notes in it but not that day. He did such a great job.
Now time for THE BEST solo performance of the night. Every other solo wishes! Jung Hoseok and his solo MAMA. It may not be my favorite solo musically but Hoseok’s whole stage/performance/everything >>>> the other solos. His stage presence alone is out of this world. People say it all the time and he knows, he was born to perform on stage. Where’s that Lady Gaga gif. He’s talented, brilliant, incredible, amazing, show-stopping, spectacular. I was blessed because Hoseok’s solo was the only solo that got performed on the extended stage. I was just that much closer to perfection. He came out from under the stage and sang/rapped/did the choreo with his backup dancers. The choreo isn’t difficult at all but I enjoyed it! He’s so expressive and such a great dancer. Once it got to his adlib part he ran to the runway between the extended and main stages and sang his little heart out before he made it to the main stage. I know it was just the backup dancers but I wished he could’ve had the choir like in Seoul. Anyway, Hoseok was great, everything was perfect. I love him soooo much!
Finally, the last solo! Jin with Awake! Awake is another one of my favorite solos from Wings. I listen once then keeping replaying. So I hadn’t even watched a fancam of Jin’s at all so I didn’t know what I was expecting stagewise. I honestly really liked how they did his. The stage had 5 platforms that could change in height and they put Jin in the middle platform. The strings from Yoongi’s solo made another appearance on the other four platforms. At one point during the song Jin’s platform was elevated above the others and then later on it went in the reverse with the strings being elevated above Jin. I also enjoyed the screen in the background using graphics from HYYH Pt 1&2 album covers. Jin did fantastically and hit his high notes with ease. Perfect tbh!
Next is the most hype performance of the night! Cypher Pt 4. Was I ready for this? I don’t know but I loved it. God bless the performance director for putting the subunits/Hoseok/Cypher on the extended stage, it makes everything better. I saw Namjoon, Yoongi, and Hoseok get their water bottles ready and the water went flying. Thank goodness I was just out of range of water hitting me. Their outfits during Cypher make me cackle but they looked so cute and totally into the song. I think my favorite part besides the song was watching them walk around the stage and hype up the crowd. Namjoon had me laughing so hard trying to do some type of dancing during part of Hoseok’s? part. It was so funny. I also love Yoongi for modifying his lyrics outside of of Korea and saying, “Click clack to the bang bang fuck you and you.” I had to sing along and laugh about it. I haven’t mentioned my mom too much because it was hard to talk to her with the headphones in but she really enjoyed this performance. I think it was her favorite from the night. She doesn’t always stand up during concerts (especially the kpop ones we’ve been to) but she stoop up for the end of cypher. She even clapped!
Next was Fire. I love Fire. This where the preplanned Fire ocean fan project came in. I had my bag ready!!! The Fire ocean ended up working out really well. The upper bowl had red bags while the lower bowl had yellow bags. It was really pretty! I got some pictures too. I know it would’ve been too difficult but I kind of wish the yellow and red were alternated between sections versus upper and lower. I can’t really complain though. It was my second time seeing it, the first being at KCON. It was great. I only wish that they had done the special ending choreo for Fire at these concerts but that is but a minor gripe in the big scheme of things. ALSO. I feel like Fire had some kind of remix plus live version going on and I hate Big Hit for not releasing it at all. It was fire lol. We’re all missing out and being deprived.
I’m pretty sure there was a ment here but I can’t remember. Shame on me. After the ment they segued into their older song medley. These songs are some of my favorites with respect to live versions. I won’t do a paragraph per song because they didn’t even do the whole song but I’ll say that I really enjoyed watching them just freestyle to the music. I think it was during Boy In Luv? that they did a bit of choreo but other than that I loved watching them work the stage. They did shortened versions of N.O, No More Dream, Boy In Luv, Danger, and Run. I died many times when Jung Hoseok and his rude self stayed on my section’s side of the extended stage and did dance moves from some of the various songs. It’s NOT FAIR!!!! I noticed that the setlist for the US Wings tour stops were void of War of Hormone for some odd reason. I’m not complaining though because it’s my least favorite BTS song EVER! Also, I was happy to see Run in the setlist. That song has been disrespected! It didn’t do as well digital downloadwise vs. I Need U, Fire, BST but it’s still so good! I was happy to see its inclusion.
On to 21st Century Girls. I enjoy this song, the choreo is adorable, I love it! I only have one complaint. As stated, I love the live versions of BTS songs, with two exceptions. This being one of them. I didn’t particularly care for an instruments in this live version. Like the song is still nice, but...eh. The prechorus and chorus seemed so bare? I don’t know the word. But there’s some horn sound or whatever and that get’s replaced with who knows what and I wasn’t exactly feeling it. I loved everything else though so they get a slight pass.
Ok, I know there was a talk here! They asked if we were enjoying the concert and tried to bluff and say they were at the last song. THESE BLATANT LIES. I had noticed there were only 6 out of 7 on stage and Hoseok was missing. I was internally freaking out and hoping he wasn’t hurt until I realized that Intro: Boy Meets Evil was next!
I knew it was coming but it just warms my heart that Hoseok got to do MAMA and his Boy Meets Evil intro even if it was only half. I was getting into it and EVERYTHING and then he stopped right at the part where he’s supposed to do that butterfly kick, I think that’s what it’s called. Either way, I was blessed to see him do that live, I was so happy!
The Boy Meets Evil cutoff turned into Blood Sweat & Tears. I always think it’s cute when this transition happens because Namjoon is standing there in the dark helping Hoseok put on his blazer for BST. This song is another one in the setlist that got the superior concert remix. I HATE Big Hit and wish this version was also released. It sounded great with the band and I’m sure the studio would sound fantastic as well.
Last before the “encore” but certainly not least was Outro: Wings. This song is actually my 3rd all time favorite BTS song after Save Me and I Need U. The rainbow ocean was supposed to happen after Outro: Wings and right before 2!3! but people got their bags out early including me. I had the bag over my phone but then I realized I needed some pics or video of this legendary song. Not like I hadn’t been singing along to everything the whole concert but I was jumping up and waving my phone around and having sooooo much fun. It’s such a great song to play at concerts. Everyone was on their feet having a great time. I was in heaven!! Because this was Outro: Wings and not it’s shorter counterpart Interlude: Wings, we got Hoseok rapping his piece. It was so cute because everyone was crowded around him hyping him up. I literally only have one gripe with this live version. It’s a hip-house song with great house elements but the house beats are weakened by using the live instruments and I felt part of the instrumental was lacking, other thank that, this song and performance were perfection.
This is were the alleged encore comes in although if you’re stupid enough to leave at this part, I worry about you. The lights went down and then started the BTS chants. They were only gone about 2-5 minutes then the screens showed the last VCR. It was a nice really touching one about how they’re making their way through life, supporting each other. Seven boys but one goal, etc etc. Really sappy, lovely stuff.
Now everyone was ready and the rainbow ocean was in full effect. It looked soooo pretty! They started singing 2!3! and the whole crowd sang along. It’s a really heartfelt, personal song and you could really feel the sincerity in it. My mom later asked me what the song was about and after I explained it to her she said that she could definitely tell that this song in particular was super important and comforting. I think that says a lot for a woman that only listens to kpop because I make her and has no idea what’s going on besides that. Back to the song. I know the goal was for the fans to sing that last part of the chorus without BTS and we did such a great job? Everyone was so loud and I was so proud, we did well! I got a little video of at least the rainbow ocean because it was so pretty!
Finally and unfortunately, the last song of the night, Spring Day. I actually really love Spring Day after a few months. When it came out I knew some would find it a bit boring but I really enjoy chill BTS music. I wasn’t that enthused with the choreo, like it’s really great and I see people gushing over it and I’m just sitting here like yeah ok. But once again, the live performance reeled me in, I have a newfound appreciation for it. I didn’t want the song to be over.
I think this is where this happened but if it didn’t, oh well. All of BTS gave a little spiel about enjoying the concert, etc etc. I should’ve listened better but my mom kept asking me what they were saying, she should’ve taken out the earplugs lol. I was especially touched when Jungkook said his ment in English. I know Namjoon had gone on the V+ chat a few days prior mentioning how much Jungkook had practiced this part. They all ended up holding hands and bowing to the crowd multiple times.
After all was said and done the lights came up and I’m pretty sure it was the Interlude: Wings instrumental? I don’t remember was played as BTS walked around the stage waving and thanking fans. It was all very cute. I loved when people threw a bunch of Pokemon on stage and Taehyung only picked up the Eevees and held them in his arms/put them on his head. Also cute was Yoongi and Hoseok picking up the Minnie ears and doing the Nae Nae around the stage. Everything was adorable. I didn’t want it do end, they looked like that had so much fun. Finally they slowly made their way from the extended stage to the main stage, messed around a lot more then did one big bow with the backup dancers and made their way offstage. Before everything was officially over a concert practice video ran during the credits of the Wings tour stuff. And then, that was it. I couldn’t hear properly but I had the time of my life. I only wish BTS/Big Hit can get bigger and even richer and then they’ll actually take a live band on tour with them. How awesome would that be!
I LOVED LOVED LOVED Wings Tour sooooo much and I shall wait patiently until BTS comes back again because I had such an incredible time!

Contains spoilers for major moments of HBO’s Game of Thrones s1-6 and the Live Concert Experience.
Last August, the Game of Thrones Live Concert Experience was announced, and, as a diehard fan of both the books and the show, I eagerly scanned the list of dates/venues to see if it was coming to my area. Unfortunately, the closest was Philadelphia on 2/26/17, which is about 2 hours away. I’m unfamiliar with Philly and the date was questionable for my schedule, so I didn’t think I would be able to attend… until I saw the location of the 3/6/17 show, and a lightbulb sparked above my head.
Since I’ve got family/friends in NE and I’m much more familiar with the area, I snagged tickets for the Boston show. Also, because my parents decided to start watching Game of Thrones with me and have spent the past ten or so months getting all caught up, we made a mini family-vacation out of it and split the expense.
I bought the tickets way back when it was first announced, so by the time March finally rolled around, my excitement levels were at a potential Cleganebowl level. We got to the TD Garden about an hour ahead of time, and the atmosphere inside the stadium was definitely meant to ramp up the hype-meter. Outside, they had some of the costumes from the show on display, which was a treat to see. There were smoke machines; not terribly intrusive, which set the scene with a light mist. I had gotten tickets for the “middle-ish” area of the stadium, so we had a great view of the screens and the stage… I’d initially gotten seats for one of the ends, but after some research, I called and swapped my seats, and the new ones were significantly better. For a Monday night, the turnout was decent; it wasn’t sold out, but the middle areas were packed, even up in the nosebleeds, and it seemed to me as though the empty seats were all on the ends, where the view of the concert was restricted. But as for the set up, there was a main stage connected to a smaller stage, which the soloists frequently moved to, as well as two smaller satellite stages, so, even if you couldn’t see the main screens from your seat, there was something to look at the entire time. There was an onscreen clock counting down the final minutes before the concert began, and from the moment the lights went down and the orchestra began the “Main Theme” as the Iron Throne materialized through a plume of smoke, I was as excited as Sansa was when she found out she was going to marry Joffrey…. you know, before he had her dad’s head cut off.
After a pleasant introduction by Ramin Djawadi, the creator of the music and themes all GoT fans have grown to love, the next track was an amalgamation of sorts of the character/house themes, as the sigils/banners unfurled from the rafters and the characters appeared in clips on the screen. I may not be a Lannister fan, but I got chills when their theme began; it might be my favorite motif from the series, and listening to it live was equal parts chilling and thrilling. Hearing the audience cheer for their favorite characters/houses and boo for their least favorites (Joff and Ramsay, in particular) was a surreal experience.
A major highlight of the concert was the soloists that composer Ramin Djawadi brought on tour with him; Christine Wu on violin, Cameron Stone on cello, singer Stevvi Alexander, and Pedro Eustache on winds, as well as a couple of others whose names I couldn’t manage to track down on the internet. Christine Wu played a wonderful solo as a “Weirwood Tree” descended and bloomed around her onstage, complete with red leaves raining from the sky, Cameron Stone rocked out on the cello during the Greyjoy number (on a water-soaked platform, no less) and Pedro Eustache played a 14-foot “wildling horn” in the midst of a snow squall during the White Walkers bit. Shockingly, no one went running for the doors when “The Rains of Castamere” (sung by soloist Stevvi Alexander) started, nor when they launched into the Red Wedding (“The Lannisters Send Their Regards”) afterwards. One truly understands what it means to be a fan whilst watching such misery play out onscreen with hundreds of other fans, though they did edit the sequences from the show to show less stabbing (of the back/neck/chest variety) than the full episode. The performance of the soloists/choir also gave those with a poorer vantage point something to watch, including a semi-reenactment of Cersei’s walk of atonement (no actual nudity, obv) and “warring” cello and violin during the sequences from “Battle of the Bastards.” The choir even donned Harpy masks for the relevant number. As someone who could see the screens perfectly well, it was nice to switch my view between stage and screen, and thus experience the entire concert without fearing that I missed anything big.
All in all, it’s hard to peg my favorite moment from the night – I enjoyed every note and each performance. The setlist featured a lot of the big musical and thematic moments of the series, such as the dramatic dragon-hatching ending of season 1, Jon and Ygritte’s doomed romance, and Sam seeing the library in Oldtown for the first time. One of my favorite episodes is season 2’s penultimate “Blackwater,” so hearing the music live whilst watching the sequences play out onscreen was a treat for my inner fangirl. I also loved soloist Stevvi Alexander’s haunting and beautiful rendition of “The Rains of Castamere,” and her vocals, combined with the talents of a local choir, brought new life and fire to “Mhysa” and various other tracks, such as “The High Sparrow,” “Sons of the Harpy,” and “The Winds of Winter.” Ramin Djawadi also played the dulcimer during the Arya-centric “Needle,” and it gave the song a new, vibrant sound. The “Battle of the Bastards” segment was stellar, and the performance of the orchestra complemented the action-packed scenes of one of the greatest episodes of the series. Hearing the music in person, often with instruments added and the occasional new vocal or twist, also gave me a new appreciation for songs that previously had never stood out to me, such as the Greyjoy themes and Melisandre’s/Stannis’s.
The concert also included special effects aside from the images and scenes on the screens, which enhanced the overall experience and made for a visual feast for most of the concert. My favorite track from the season 6 soundtrack is actually “Reign,” so when the clip of Dany and the Masters played, with our favorite Dragon Queen saying “My reign has just begun,” I was thrilled; but add actual fire into the mix? We were several feet away and could feel the heat when the flames shot into the air. Gosh, it was like Drogon was actually present! Well, not really, but it was an awesome addition to the concert nonetheless. The second major instance was “The Light of the Seven,” the piano-centric track that leads up to Cersei’s act of ultimate vengeance in the final episode of season 6. Djawadi took the piano for this one, on the smaller stage, and as the song reached its peak, he was engulfed by green light and smoke. Thankfully it was all for show, and Djawadi did not suffer the same fate as poor Margaery, Loras, Kevan, and the others in the sept.
As all ride-or-die GoT fans know, the show would not be what it is without the gut-wrenching (and occasionally vindicating) stream of character deaths. After the orchestra finished the last number, the hype-tastic song used to close out season 6 known as “The Winds of Winter,” Ramin and his band members played “The Bear and the Maiden Fair” while a montage of deceased characters played on the screens. A brilliant way to both close the show and offer a bit of a recap of our heartbreak, misery, and, in some cases, victorious moments over the last six seasons.
One complaint? Not NEARLY enough of the suave and mysterious Jaqen H’ghar/Faceless Man. (I jest, I jest – but he is my fave.)
The Game of Thrones Live Concert Experience was exactly that; an experience, and one I definitely recommend to anyone who is a fan of the show and the music. It’s approximately 2.5 hours of music and action – what’s not to like? I cannot imagine the amount of preparation and precision that went into making this concert, and I left the stadium with an ear-to-ear smile – a testament to what Djawadi has done with this score, and what GoT means to fans of the series. Ramin Djawadi and all those who have brought this concert to life have done an excellent job creating this experience and bringing the music to fans in a new, dynamic way, and I am so thankful I got to see it.
