#some family friends called her asking when they could visit and see my baby nephew

I see how Daniel is with his nephew and niece and you can't convince me other that he'd make a great father someday. With that being said, the reader sees Daniel playing with them in the backyard one afternoon and it makes her think about their future and she mentions to Daniel that she wants kids. Daniel agrees with her, and they start trying. I know you said you don't write smut and that's okay, but hinting towards it is just fine because people can but two and two together and figure it out themselves.
But she finds out she's pregnant and tells Daniel who's excited. Daniel throughout the pregnancy he's super attentive and is just there for her whenever she needs it.
Including the birth is optional. But I can imagine Daniel not wanting to put the baby down.
Forgive me if this is a bit much. My tiktok fyp is just full of babies and the baby fever is sky rocketing.
King Of My Heart
Part 1 - The Taste Of Your Lips Is My Idea Of Luxury
Pairing: Daniel Ricciardo x Reader
Warnings: sexual innuendos but no smut
Words: 1.2k
Summary: Seeing Daniel interact with his niece and nephew makes you rethink the timeline of your life and Daniel is more than happy to help you.
A/N: I have finally found the time to write again and I've listened to you guys and wrote this. So sorry to the person who asked me this for waiting this long to actually answer. I hope you'll like part 1 of this at least 2 parter as much as I liked writing it.
It wasn’t a secret that Daniel was a family man, whether it was by blood or the one he had chosen. Daniel loved everyone around him unapologetically with his whole heart and you thought it was the most beautiful thing.
It was one of the reasons you had fallen for him so quickly. He had a way of making you feel on top of the world with the flash of a smile and it was exhilarating. Even after dating for a few years, he never stopped loving you so passionately and the honeymoon phase seemed to stretch on forever.
The sun was shining softly in the garden of Joe and Grace’s house in Perth. The warm January weather was a godsend after leaving the grey clouds of the English countryside and it was one more reason to visit the Ricciardos while Daniel could relax a bit.
Grace had been thrilled to hear the two of you would be coming to celebrate New Years with them and had immediately called Daniel’s sister to see if she could come home at the same time. Michelle had obviously agreed, happy to come around with her own family. When Grace told Daniel his niece and nephew were coming, he looked like a kid on Christmas morning. He loved them so much.
You had never been much of a kid person, sure you liked to spend time with your friends’ and family’s children and you loved them but you weren’t sure about having your own yet. You knew you wanted some at some point in your life, but you were waiting for the moment it’d feel right. For now, you were more than happy to play the babysitter whenever you could and still get to come back to a calm and quiet house when you were home.
Daniel was kind of the opposite. He loved to be around kids and you knew he was only waiting for your ok to start creating a family of his own with you. In all honesty, you were a bit scared by how bad he wanted kids at first, not wanting to stop him from getting what he so desperately wished for but the Australian had made it clear that he would wait as long as you needed. He wanted kids with you and it was the only thing that mattered, not some imposed timeline or a decision made in fear of being alone.
You didn’t know exactly when the right moment would be, you were convinced you’d just know. You hadn’t seen him interact with kids in a while after a busy and hectic season and maybe that’s why it hit you harder than the other times. Or maybe seeing him taking care of his family, of children he was so openly fond of flipped a switch in you.
It’s not like Daniel was doing anything out of the ordinary, Isabella and Isaac had just decided they wanted to play football with their uncle and now the three of them were running around the garden in heaps of giggles and warm booming laughs. It was an endearing scene to see the little group so happy and it weirdly made you feel a mix of yearning and excitement. Daniel, as if connected to you by an unknown force, suddenly looked up at you with a grin, mouthing “I love you” from where he was standing.
When Daniel finally sat down next to you on the lounge chair you had decided to watch them from, you knew you had to tell him. The words were burning your throat, threatening to spill out at any given opportunity but saying them out there in the open, surrounded by his family, his parents only a few metres away, didn’t feel right.
The opportunity came a few hours later, once everyone had retreated to their room and you finally got the Australian to yourself. You were laying down on your back, looking at the ceiling while Daniel was brushing his teeth in the adjoining bathroom.
-“ Dan ?” you called to get his attention, sitting up on the bed
-“ Yes, sweetheart ?” he managed to mumble with his toothbrush in his mouth
-“ Do you still want kids with me ?”
The sentence seemed to send a shock through your boyfriend and he came rushing out of the bathroom, an alarmed look on his face.
-“ Of course I do. If this is about waiting to have them, I still mean what I told you. I’ll wait as long as you need to feel ready, so no pressure.” he tried to reassure you, caressing your cheek softly
You took a deep breath, trying to contain your smile.
-“ I think we’ve waited long enough, no ?”
-“ Are you toying with me or are you serious, I can’t tell.”
-“ I wouldn’t joke about that my love, I’m serious. I want to start a family with you.”
You had barely finished your sentence that Daniel was holding you in his arms, hugging you tightly. You thought he was letting you go after a few seconds but it seemed he had other ideas as he picked you up bridal style with a devilish smile on his face.
-“ What are you doing, Dan ?” you asked, laughing at how happy he looked
-“ Well I think we ought to start trying at some point, right ?” he winked “ And I must say you look irresistible tonight.”
-“ As much as I love the turn this conversation is taking, we’re at your parents’ house and they’re only a few doors down the hall. Doesn’t sound like the brightest idea.”
-“ I’d say it sounds like a perfect idea. All you have to do is be quiet, sweetheart. We both know you can do that.” Daniel said, loving the way your face turned rosy at the thoughts that filled your head
-“ I can do that but two can play at this game and you’re never very quiet yourself. If we do this, I’m not the one they’ll hear and you know it.” you said in a hushed tone, hoping to see his face match yours
-“ Oh I’m well aware of that. That’s why I’m taking you to the bathroom and we’re going to take a very long shower” he said, winking at the last word “The water will cover whatever sounds I make. Plus, it gives me a reason to watch you undress under very good lighting.”
-“ As if you needed a reason to do that.” you rolled your eyes playfully at his behaviour
-“ You’re right, I don’t.”
-“ For someone with such a detailed plan in his head, you sure talk a lot, you know ?” you riled him up, finally get a reaction from the Australian
-“ Oh so that’s how you want to play it ? Alright, I didn’t know you’d be so into the idea but that’s the second best surprise today” he grinned, walking to the bathroom still carrying you in his arms
That night, Daniel stayed true to his words and you were very glad for the thick stone walls separating the bathroom from the other rooms. The next day at breakfast, nobody seemed to have noticed what you had been up to the night before. Maybe they had noticed how neither of you stayed away from each other for more than a few seconds but if they did they had the wisdom of not mentioning it. There were things that were better left unsaid when in the presence of such a lovesick couple, for everyone’s sanity.

How are you?
Stiles Stilinski
The pack had just found out that Miss Blake was the darach and that she had taken y/n, who was Stiles’s sister.
"Uncle Stiles, when's mommy coming home?" His three-year-old nephew asked in his baby voice.
"I'm not sure, but grandpa is looking for her and all of my friends as well. They are strong. They won't come back until they have her." Stiles told his adorable little nephew.
When Stiles went to go see if they could find y/n, Melissa and Chris, Noah was watching his grandson. When the pack had found them, y/n was unconscious and was rushed into the hospital. Stiles didn't want to leave her side and he kept holding onto her hand.
While Stiles was watching over y/n, Derek went and told Noah what happened. When he saw s/n, he just stared. He realised why y/n looked so familiar. Noah already knew, and the only person that didn't was Stiles. Once Derek went to the hospital, he saw y/n resting on a bed. Derek, feeling as if he had to tell Stiles what happened between y/n and himself, sat Stiles down and told him everything.
"Whoa! Whoa! Whoa! So you're telling me that you used to date my older sister, and two years into the relationship, she just upped and left you?" Stiles asked as he looked at Derek, towards y/n and back again.
"Yes," Derek answered. "She must have thought that I would have left her if she told me that she was pregnant and decided to leave. Before you have an argument that I would ignore, I searched. I searched for her for over a year, and I couldn't find a clue as to where she had gone." He finished as he stared at y/n.
"Okay, fine, but if you hurt her in any way, shape or form, you will have Scott, the sheriff, the whole of the police department and every werewolf we know on your back." Stiles threatened after a while of thinking.
Just as Derek was going to say something, y/n began to wake up and tried to look at her to see her surroundings. When her eyes landed on Stiles, she gave him a small smile and thanked him for finding her.
However, when she saw Derek, she froze. Stiles decided that he would leave the room and give them some time to talk things out. He decided to go and call his dad to tell him that he could bring in s/n. Meanwhile, Derek was talking to y/n and sorting everything out. When Stiles arrived back, he saw them hugging, and y/n had small tears, but by the smile on her face, he had nothing to worry about.
After talking about it as a family, they all decided it would be best if y/n and s/n moved out of Beacon Hills with Derek, but they could still visit. Two years later, y/n was visiting about being engaged and pregnant again. A year after that, with a six-year-old and a newborn son. The little Hale family was happy out of Beacon Hills and just visiting when they could and wanted to.
The end.

Character ask: Kermit the Frog
Favorite thing about them: How kind, friendly, and idealistic he is, and how he usually serves as the stable "eye of the hurricane" among the craziness of the Muppets. Yet at the same time, how relatably (and humorously) stressed and angry he becomes when his patience is tested too far. Then there's his dry humor and sarcasm (which was more pronounced in the Tales from Muppetland and early Muppet Show era than in more recent years – in those days he could be a real smart aleck!), and his poetic dreamer quality, which probably stands out the most in his signature song, "Rainbow Connection." Because he's such a famous pop culture icon, it's easy to forget just how three-dimensional and (for want to a better word) human he is as a character, but he really is.
Least favorite thing about them: He can sometimes be a little mean when he loses his temper.
Three things I have in common with them:
*I love music and performing.
*Like both Kermit and @ariel-seagull-wings, I want to make people happy through the arts.
*I can be quiet and thoughtful sometimes, fun-loving and exuberant at other times.
Three things I don't have in common with them:
*I couldn't handle the stress of being the Muppets' leader.
*I don't have any desire to date a pig.
*I'm not green.
Favorite line:
From The Muppet Show:
Me, not crazy? I hired the others!"
From his showdown with Doc Hopper in The Muppet Movie:
"Yeah, well, I've got a dream, too. But it's about singing and dancing and making people happy. That's the kind of dream that gets better the more people you share it with. And, well, I've found a whole bunch of friends who have the same dream... And it kind of makes us like a family. Do you have anybody like that, Hopper? I mean, once you get all those restaurants, who are you gonna share it with? Who are your friends, Doc? Those guys?... I don't think you're a bad man, Doc. And I think if you look in your heart, you'll find you really wanna let me and my friends go to follow our dreams. But if that's not the kind of man you are, or what I'm saying doesn't make any sense to you, well, then, go ahead and kill me."
brOTP: The other Muppets, especially Fozzie, Gonzo, and his nephew Robin.
OTP: Miss Piggy, with reservations (see below).
nOTP: Any human.
Random headcanon: The original script for 1969's Hey, Cinderella! called for the Fairy Godmother to turn him into a coachman. But he had too much pride in his frog heritage to want such a thing – and besides, none of the human actors who auditioned for the part of Coachman-Kermit could imitate his voice well enough – so the script was changed to have him refuse to be turned human and drive the coach as a frog.
Unpopular opinion: I'm not particularly invested in shipping him with Miss Piggy. Their having broken up (again) in the 2015 ABC series doesn't outrage me, and to be honest, I wouldn't have minded if they had never "officially" gotten together at all, but had kept their old Muppet Show dynamic of Piggy pursuing Kermit unrequitedly. (Although a part of me is glad they moved past that, because dragging it out for decades might have made Piggy seem pathetic.) Maybe it's because I'm not a fan of "on-and-off" pairings, maybe it's because of Piggy's tendency to be violent when Kermit offends her, or maybe it's just because my introduction to the Muppets was Muppet Babies, which solidified "Kermit and Piggy are friends and Piggy just wishes they were a couple" as their default relationship in my mind. But while they've had nice romantic moments over the years, I'm content to see them be good friends instead of lovers.
Song I associate with them:
"Bein' Green"
youtube
"Rainbow Connection"
youtube
Favorite picture of them:
Some of these are borrowed from @ariel-seagull-wings
In his "Sesame Street News Flash" outfit:
As a baby:
With Jim Henson:
This poignant cartoon drawn by a Disney artist in 1990:
(I'd like to think Mickey came to visit and console him after Jim Henson died because he remembered going through the same pain when Walt Disney died.)
And with Miss Piggy:

To Be Honest | Para
Featuring: Juniper Grimaldi & Robin Wilson; mentions of Clover Wilson, and Atlas, @chris-grimaldi , Matt & Isaac Grimaldi Location: Chris’s SF home Notes: Robin checks in on the sibling he’s always been closest too.
Her breasts ached, her head hurt, the nausea was still pronounced despite losing her breakfast, and she was tired. She’d always felt tired these days, it seemed like the most dominant of her symptoms. Through baby food prep, walks around the neighborhood, yoga sessions, tummy time and crawling practice with Atlas, a couple days’ meal prep for themself and Robin, routine maintenance of her aquarium tank, and all of the free time now had, Juniper couldn’t stop feeling tired.
Matt and Isaac had come by almost every day and Juniper could only guess that Chris had asked them to check in on her while he was in New York. Between the two of them and Clover, she’d been especially grateful for the visits for Atlas’s sake since it meant that she was able to lie down and not have to worry about him. She also didn’t want to take advantage of the supports of her family or her friends, no matter how willing they all were to be helpful.
Today though, Clover staked claim of Atlas and insisted that she was long overdue for an aunt-nephew day of fun. The weather was going to cut the ‘day’ considerably shorter, but Clover still wanted her one-on-one time. Juniper made sure he was dressed for the rainy weather and double-checked that the diaper bag was stocked with diapers, wipes, teething toys, an extra set of clothes and some organic applesauce pouches. They loaned theirs and Robin’s car to their baby sister, showered Atlas’s face in kisses, and promised that they would be a phone call away if Clover needed anything.
Not long after their sister and son left, Juniper refilled their water bottle and headed upstairs to lie down. No sooner had their head come to rest on their pillows, a knock sounded against theirs and Chris’s bedroom door. Juniper lifted their head and saw Robin standing in the doorway, leaning against the frame.
“Hey,” he spoke. “Can I come in?”
Juniper nodded, “Yes, of course,” while shifting to sit up more.
Robin shook his head as he approached, “It’s okay, you can lie down if you need to. I just wanted to come check on you, see if you need anything.”
Settling back down on the bed, Juniper frowned, “I threw up before Clover came by. And I was planning to do laundry today, but I just feel so tired. I’m trying to push through it, but--”
“Hey,” Robin cut through in his usual serious calm. “Don’t push yourself right now, Juniper. You’ve got both you and your bun to think of.”
Hearing her brother refer to the new baby as a ‘bun’ made Juniper crack a faint, brief smile but it faded as she said, “You’re right.” Instinctively, her hand went to her stomach, cradling her hand to it.
“I know I’ve been busy with work, and you’ve been keeping busy around here and with Atlas, but tell me the truth: how are you doing?”
Juniper was looking down to the foot of the bed where Robin was perched, the same striking blue eyes as theirs staring right back at them. “I’m still so sad about my job but I’m trying not to dwell on it for too long. Any time that I do, I start crying again. I’m happy for Chris and all he’s achieved and doing now. He’s deserved the recognition and the chances to do the things that he wants. But I miss him, and it’s hard not having him here right now. Harder than I expected compared to when he first talked to me about it, or even when he found out he was cast in the lead role. I know that that has a lot to do with me losing my job on the heels of finding out that we’re having another baby. And with the pregnancy news, I... have a lot of feelings around that.”
Robin tilted his head a fraction, “Feelings like what?”
“Just like Atlas, this little bun wasn’t planned. Atlas is only seven months old. I know Chris and I won’t love either of them any more or less than the other, but I hope that we’ll be able to handle it all. I hope that I’ll be able to handle it all. Atlas is still going through some major milestones. He’s not crawling or walking or talking yet and barely has his first tooth coming in. I’m still breastfeeding him, and I’m enjoying making him his own baby foods and introducing them to him. I want to start him in swim classes we can do, and look into mommy and me yoga classes for us to do together. I know that all of that is still possible now. It’s... just going to be more challenging. I don’t want to miss out on things for Atlas, and to be able to love and raise both babies without neglecting either of them.” Pausing for a moment, Juniper fought some stinging in their eyes and said, “I’m just scared. I’m happy about our family growing, but I’m scared, Robin.”
Robin got up from the bed and sat closer, collecting his sibling in his arms for a hug. He felt them hug him back and cry into the crook of his arm. Robin could only imagine the numerous ways their emotions were fractured into, just from the things they’d shared. Add to that whatever hormonal matters they were dealing with and Robin had been truly worried. Chris was on the other side of the country and Robin didn’t know his schedule. He considered calling reinforcements in the form of their parents or possibly more of their siblings, but he also didn’t want to overwhelm or stress Juniper out more. He knew that they had a number of friends who were local and would probably show up too but that might have the same reaction of overwhelming or stressing them out.
“June,” Robin spoke, a little lower than his usual voice while still holding her. “Would you want to spend some time with some of your friends, or some of the family?”
Juniper sniffed and sighed, wiping their eyes with their thumb. “I don’t know... not right now. Maybe... it might be nice to see my friends later, or tomorrow. Maybe I can video call Dad and Mom or something.”
“Maybe,” echoed Robin. “Maybe they’d come down to visit. Or maybe you’d be able to go up to Seattle and see them for a few days.”
Juniper had still been frowning a bit but considered what her brother was suggesting. “It would be nice. I haven’t been home since last Spring, before Atlas was born.” She recalled the trip, the barbecue with the entire family meeting Chris and vice versa.
“Think it over. If it’s something you really want to do. Then talk it over with Chris and make it happen.” It was the only thing Robin could think of in the moment, but he considered still reaching out to a few of their siblings as well as a fw of Juniper’s local friends.
Robin kept on holding Juniper until they’d settled down almost completely. He rubbed their back a little and then encouraged, “Get some rest. The laundry will be there when you’ve the energy. I’d offer to help with it but you know I’m lousy with sorting. Hence the beauty of ninety-nine percent of my wardrobe being black.”
Juniper smiled wearily at their brother, wiping their eyes once more. “Thank you, Robin. And thank you for checking up on me. It means a lot to me to have you here, although speaking of that, Clover mentioned that you two are thinking of moving into the townhouse together?”
Robin shrugged, “...Maybe. With this massive place only having four bedrooms, it doesn’t really leave room for Atlas and the new bun to have their own bedrooms, and for you guys to have guest space. Clover likes her roommate, but the tenants renting the townhouse are planning to move out this summer, so it would work out, and Clover’s gonna ask her roommate if her roommate wants to move in there.”
Juniper nodded, “That does make sense. I’m glad you had the idea of keeping the townhouse and renting it out when we moved here.” They gave Robin another hug and thanked him again for checking on them.
Robin returned the hug and said, “Get some rest, June. Take care of yourself and the bun. I’ll be downstairs if you need anything.”
At that, Juniper tugged half of the comforter over her body, the exhaust already flooding over her. Despite the cacophony of thoughts and feelings still restless in her mind, she was asleep before Robin reached the stairs’ ground floor landing.

For my dad's birthday, my sister and brother went in together on a gift for my dad. My brother invited him over. His wife remade one of our late mom's pie recipes that she always made for my dad on special occasions. My brother and his wife have a 7 month old baby girl who my dad has only seen twice. The assumption was that my father would come over for pie and his gift and would see his grand daughter for a little while. The least the guy can do. My brother has been gone for months learning to be a pilot so you think he might be interested in how his son is.
But my father calls up and says he has some back pain and it hurts too much so he asked if he can just drive up and they can bring out the pie and the gift and he can take them back with him. All benefits with none of the work.
My brother is rightfully upset because his dad doesn't even want to see his own son or his grand daughter. My sister gets involved and says, "No, they won't do that. Just go in for 5 minutes it's no different than sitting in the car. BTW did you see a doctor for this pain?" No.
My father says, "no no I'm in too much pain now and I can't even drive so I'm not coming."
My sister tells my brother to forget the gift. Return it. Enjoy the pie yourselves. But my brother's wife is like I made the guy a fucking pie. Let's just bring it to him and bring the baby and he will see how cute she is.
So they call my dad up and tell him that they will come to him. But he says:
"Can we just meet halfway, I was going to drive to my friend's house (about halfway between them) and watch the Phillies (baseball)."
Like I shit you not, baseball is and always has been more important to the man than anyone in his family and whenever anyone gives him a chance to be involved in their lives the man does this. Meanwhile he goes around garnering sympathy from people because "his wife is dead and his 8 kids don't want to talk to him."
So fuck it. They ate the pie. The man went to his friend's house and stayed for three days complaining he was in too much pain to leave but constantly refusing to go to the doctor.
When my sister asked why he won't go, he claimed it would take too long to get in. She called and he got in at 9 am the next morning. They said he pulled a muscle and gave him some opiates and sent him on his way. Old white man privilege.
Meanwhile I suffer in pain every day of my life. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Now the guy is in Cali visiting his old friends thanks to a plane ticket my sister bought him. He's gonna go to my cousin's funeral tomorrow and use the situation to get as much sympathy from a group of mourners as he can get. My cousin was my mom's nephew and they both died from horrible battles with cancer.
There just isn't a single thing about the man that doesn't piss me off. The stories are endless.
He treats my poor sister like a wife or a mother. It helps that she lives 10 hours away, but it doesn't stop the man from relying on her for something he could easily do himself.
She feels bad because our mom told her to take care of him (to an extent). But I think after this most recent issue, she is very much done with him.
The man had eight kids and he's been burning his bridges with all of them. He's probably about to be evicted so you would think he might want to spend time with his son who owns a house and has a spare room.
#the stories go on and on my whole fucking life#he has his priorities but his family is not one of them#its all baseball and end times rhetoric

when he greeted you with a peck on the lips you couldn’t help but smile at the effort he put in
“don’t worry about a thing [name] we’re going to have lots of fun i promise” he grinned
「 hamada asahi 」
it all happend during a snow day, you were taking care of your niece while your sibling was out of town for a business trip
deciding to get out of the house you told asahi you were coming over to the dorms since it was treasure’s break
he decided to draw out a welcome sign for her so that she would be surprised when you showed up
walking in the dorm shaking your shoulders trying to get rid of snow that’s when you saw the welcome sign
your niece smiled at the cute drawn characters as asahi bend down to give her the piece of paper
“this is for you [niece name] i hope you like it” he smiled
the rest of the day was spent by the fire enjoying hot chocolate with marshmallows
「 bang yedam 」
when yedam told you he wanted to meet your nephew you were kind of against it
partly because your nephew was still very young barely able to walk on his own but yedam persisted
giving in you brought your nephew to the dorms one day
walking in yedam ran straight towards you in awe of the young child in your arms
“he’s so charming” he gushed squishing his little cheeks
as you walked into the living your room you sat down on the couch putting your nephew on the floor so that he could crawl around
he then crawled to yedam’s guitar playing with the strings laughing at the funny noise it was making
picking up the guitar yedam exclaimed proudly
“how about i sing a song for you? would you like that?”
「 kim doyoung 」
you were picking up your 5 year old nephew from school wanting to see doyoung since his dorms was on the way back home
he was surprised to see you but even more surprised when you brought your nephew as well
since it was a beautiful day out you all decided to go to the small park behind the dorms
all three of you decided to play a game of soccer while doyoung was giving your nephew some pointers
“your doing great! [nephew name] but try it this way”
you smiled at the wholesome interaction while your nephew looked up at him in admiration
doyoung gave him the biggest cheer when your newphew made his first goal
“see! i knew you could do it” he exclaimed proudly showing off his cute smile that you loved so much
「 watanabe haruto 」
one of the most important things to haruto was family
so when your sibling finally had your first niece he was thrilled not only for you but for your sibling as well
after a couple of weeks you finally decided to bring her to meet haruto while he was at the dorms
walking in with the baby in your arms he looked down at her tearing up
he couldn’t help it, as it reminded him of his little sister back home all the way in japan
when you gently passed her over to haruto he smiled
looking up at him you wiped away his tears as he finally said
“i think it’s time you meet my family [name] your important to me.. i want them to meet the woman i want to spend the rest of my life with” he vowed
「 park jeongwoo 」
it was a rare day when jeongwoo had a day off from all of his idol duties
so you were shocked when he said he wanted it to spend his day off with you and your niece
the minute you showed up to the dorms your niece went wild running all over the place
she was still at the age where she was just full of energy and there was no way you could stop it anytime soon
jeongwoo ran after her trying to catch her
“come here baby!” he giggled making funny animal noises trying to get her attention
finally scooping her up he gave her a small kiss on the cheek
you pouted until he saw your face giving you a small kiss on your pouty lips
“don’t worry babe your still my number 1 but [niece name] is coming for your spot” he teased as you lightly punched his arm playfully
「 so junghwan 」
being the youngest of the group he was the most comfortable around young children
you decided that he should meet your niece for the first time after a couple of months of dating
one sunny day coming to the dorms he noticed you walking in with her as he was playing a video game
he shyly walked over to her bending down to her eye level
“hello, [niece name] you look very pretty today, it’s so nice to meet you” he announced looking at her pink tutu and her small tiara
she giggled pulling off her tiara giving it to junghwan
he put it on top of his head confidently
“do i look like a prince?” he asked doing a pose
she shyly nodded
the rest of the day was spent playing dress up and having tea time together

Pretty please can we have something where Echo and TBB find out Rex and reader are expecting? Bonus points for Omega's reaction cause I wonder sometimes whether she knows much about the natural way babies are made? I figure she wouldn't have need of that information in the Kaminoans' eyes.
I wanna preface this by expressing the joy I feel and the appreciation I have when you guys come into my inbox asking or wanting to talk about Post-Order 66 Rex and fam. I love it SO MUCH you have no idea :’)
So, if you remember, Hunter was briefly in Insatiable and has a couple lines of dialogue - he even congratulates them on the pregnancy and wishes them well in case he doesn’t see them soon - which is shown during Rex + reader + Hunter’s short interaction. The squad is told the happy news before the events of that particular installment, and I’m thinking that it happens when Rex contacts them to ask if they would be able meet him on [planet] for a little help with [mission].
Find the rest of the series and related works in the Post-Order 66 Rex ML
Let’s go back in time when Rex makes contact with TBB, which preludes the events of Insatiable: (pregnant!reader, TBB + Omega finds out, about 1.6k words)
<<<>>>
"We’re being hailed.”
All members on board the Marauder drop what they’re doing and turn their attention to Echo, who had just called out and is signaling for everyone to congregate in the cockpit. Hunter sheathes the knife he’d been twirling in his fingers and nods before stepping towards the rear of the ship and calling for Omega, while Wrecker sets down Gonky and waves her over. Tech and Echo are already sat in the cockpit, getting the signal steady for the incoming transmission to come through.
"What is it?" Omega jumps down from the gunner's nest - now her room thanks to Wrecker's kind heart and creativity - and joins her brothers in the cockpit. The pilot seats are swiveled around and facing the small space in the center of all of them - the bust of a familiar captain popping into view. "Oh, it's Rex! Hi Rex!" She waves at his translucent blue form with a giddy smile plastered on her face. “Where is-”
"Hello Omega," you chime in with a smile as your head pops into the perimeter of the holo. Her sweet face lights up even more, and her eyes move back and forth between you both, unsure of whom to focus on. From the room you’re still staying at in a high-rise located in Yerbana City, the two of you exchange quick greetings with the five who are currently traveling through hyperspace.
“What’s goin’ on, Rex?” The gentle giant asks with a grin and hands placed on his hips. The captain straightens his stance and crosses his armored arms across his chest plate, and instead of directing his impending response to Wrecker, Rex’s attention turns to Hunter, who’s leaned against the frame at the threshold of the cockpit. A moment passes as the two share a nonverbal understanding before Rex opens his mouth - the focusing pairs of eyes on one another.
“I wanted to see if your squad would be available to help me out.” You quietly observe each individual who are all appearing on your end as full-body projections, landing on Omega to where she’s sitting on top of their Gonk droid - her hands folded neatly in her lap, legs swinging.
“Name it.” Echo is quick to respond with a affirmative nod as he meets the eyes of each member - cutting off Hunter before the sergeant can get a word in. Rex’s oldest friend found himself caught at the receiving end of a very slight glare coming from directly across from him, and begins to backtrack. “I-”
“What is it, Captain?” Hunter interjects.
You sort of tune out the rest, having already been given the spiel by Rex long before you’d suggested for him to contact Hunter for some much-needed assistance. It’s a simple mission: scouting out an abandoned base in hopes to obtain supposedly valuable information from the obsolete Republic database and perhaps to also restock on munitions if there’s anything left there. Normally this would be something Rex could manage on his own, though his thoughts have been a little busy since the start of your extended stay in Yerbana. The two of you ended up taking a little much-needed ‘vacation’ in the repopulating capitol city after receiving the incredible news, and you’re just now getting back into the swing of things. Well, for the most part. Rex doesn’t quite trust his focus as of late with far too many other important things swarming around in his mind, and is worried that he'd make a mistake doing the mission solo, no matter how simple the objective appears to be.
Hunter accepts without resistance, and confirms that they'll meet the two of you just outside the abandoned base immediately after they’ve finished their current objective for Cid, which will probably be in another eighteen hours or so. Rex transmits the coordinates, and it falls silent; the awkward clearing of the throat coming from Rex crackles through the air on their end.
“Somethin’ else, Rex?”
“Actually, yeah. We have some news.” Rex grins and rubs at his nape, and you can't help but to smile wide at him from your position at his side. The squad members all share a glance - a mixture of raised, inquisitive brows and narrowed, concerned eyes. Hunter steps closer to the projection, caution engrained within the features of his half-inked face as he crosses his arms.
“Tell them, love,” your sweet voice of reassurance crackles with the brief wavering signal - your hand laying to rest on his pauldron. Rex chuckles down at his feet and grabs your hand to bring it up to his chest, squeezing gently as he begins to acknowledge the others.
“Everything okay, you two?”
“Based on their lifted expressions and display of affection towards one another, it appears that this ‘news’ is of a positive, exuberant nature.”
You can’t help but laugh at Tech being Tech, which results in mixed reactions at the other end of the call. Rex inhales deep - the air quietly seeping through his nostrils on the exhale. “We’re, uh- we’re gonna have a baby.” His lit up eyes drop to his boots and he’s smirking at his feet as soon as the words leave his lips. You watch as the multiple pair of eyes widen with smiles creeping their way onto each member of the squad’s faces, but the first person to audibly respond is Tech - his focus not lifting from the device held in his hands.
“Are you certain?” All heads snap in Tech’s direction to where he’s leaned forward in the pilot’s seat, elbows resting on his thighs, continuing to tap away at the datapad. Smacking his bother’s knee, Echo squints at Tech and shakes his head.
“Yes, Tech,” you giggle as your hand releases from Rex’s and moves to rest against the beginnings of your baby bump, though you’re unsure if they are able to see either one of you from the chest down. “The bun has been confirmed as baking in the oven. We risked a brief visit to the local med center here, so, we’re certain.”
“Well then.” Tech’s brows lift above the rim of his goggles as he readjusts the spectacles with a finger pushing between them. “Felicitations to you both. That is quite extraordinary news. It seems that I was correct in-”
“That’s so wonderful!” Omega exclaims with the largest grin - hopping off the GNK and clapping her hands excitedly as she approaches you. “When are you getting the baby? Are we going to see the baby when we meet them at the rendezvous, Hunter?”
“Of course you're going to see the baby, Omega,” you answer softly for Hunter, giving him a quick smile and nod, saving him from having to explain. “It won’t be for quite a few months, though. Not until after the baby is born.” Omega’s brows pinch together in confusion, and you cautiously elaborate, unsure of what she already knows as far as what the natural-born process entails. “The baby has to grow inside of me first, and that takes a little while.”
"Inside of you?" Her curiosity is absolutely adorable. She turns to her brothers - soft eyes flickering to each one of them.
"You see, Omega, when-"
"Uh, Tech?" Rex clears his throat, and the intelligent trooper is quick to get the hint - closing his mouth and resuming to silently tap at the datapad. Echo is next to chime in, and he’s smiling like a fool, eyes wide.
“You’re gonna be a dad, eh? Wow... that’s- that’s just incredible, brother.”
“I’m gonna be an uncle!” Wrecker very loudly exclaims, and Omega and you share giggles at his enthusiasm.
“Technically, Wrecker, we are all going to be ‘uncles’ since Rex is our brother, genetically speaking. Therefore, any offspring he may produce would be considered as our nieces and nephews. That is how the nat-borns conduct their family trees.” Tech punctuates his statement with a sure nod - speaking with his finger raised in the air so as to draw attention to his point.
You’re so lost in the way Rex’s eyes continue to positively sparkle with pride and adoration as his brothers and Omega shower the two of you with congratulatory praises that you’re forgetting to respond to all of them.
“We appreciate it, everyone,” you say with an ear-to-ear grin - beaming at Rex.
“We’ll see you all soon,” Rex concludes, “Stay safe out there.”
The holo vanishes as the transmission disconnects, leaving the squad on board the Marauder to go over some more details of their next objective as well as to process the news.
“So...” Wrecker turns around and leads Gonky back to where he was benching the power droid before the call. “What do ya think Rex is gonna do?”
Hunter raises the brow bordered with dark ink. “What do you mean?”
“Are they going to keep this up, now that they’re going to have a kid? You know, the missions and stuff?”
“We have Omega,” Tech inputs matter-of-factly as he prepares the ship for exit from hyperspace. “And we are managing just fine, barring our dwindling ration supply.” Omega smiles sheepishly, but nods with confidence.
“Rex is a good man.” Echo swivels his seat around and sits up straight, meeting the four pair of eyes now gazing back at him. “Always tried to do what was best for his men, his brothers, and still does, even if it's beyond his control or out of his hands. Now that Rex is... free,” Echo puts the most stress into that word as it’s spoken - glancing down at his feet and chewing the inside of his cheek before continuing, “He’s in control of his life, and is able to choose his own path. And that path will lead to what’s best for his family.”

Dating Sam Wilson Would Include...
Here’s some love for our Captain Falcon? Just Falcon? Captain Bird? Sam. Here’s some love for our Sam.
You wanted revenge.
When Steve invited you to jog with him, he said that he would keep pace with you.
He was a man of his word, but he didn’t even break a sweat while you were gasping for breath with your burning lungs.
You wanted revenge, and to see Steve sweat.
That was all!
Your return to the National Mall’s park of monuments for a practice jog was your training for that revenge.
It had nothing to do with the handsome, fellow jogger you and Steve had seen before.
When he happened to be there again, you thought you might as say hello to him.
Steve jogged at the crack of dawn each day and this mystery jogger seemed to have the same habit.
Odds were you would see the man again and if you were with Steve, you would want to be able to explain why you were so easily left behind in his dust.
He was easier to catch up with than Steve, though you were breathless by the time he glanced over his shoulder at you.
It took all you had not to stumble over your own feet when his dark eyes met your gaze.
All thoughts and want of revenge were forgotten: it was only you and….him….what was his name?
You needed to know but, talking to him? How could you!? You were already out of breath and he...he was looking at you like...
“You alright?”
His voice, laden with concern, brought you out of your reverie.
Heat rushed up to your face and, for the first time, you were happy that you were flushed from running.
“Uh, yeah,” you said through little pants of exertion, “sorry...I…”
You were loosing steam, physically and mentally.
You were embarrassed he had caught you staring, a stranger!
Talk about weird and creepy.
But the man gave you a half smile, a hint of hope that you didn’t royally mess up your chances.
He stopped jogging and, relieved to find an excuse to stop, you followed suit.
“You sure you’re alright?”
“Y-yeah,” you wheezed, “you’re just, you’re fast.”
“Tryin’ to race me then?”
You glanced up at him and nodded, “a race, sure.”
Your heart beat like a jack hammer; though you weren’t sure if it was because of the running or if you were nervous.
All you did know was that you were light headed and there was a good looking guy standing before you, worried about you despite the weirdness.
When you finally were able to fill your lungs with a decent amount of oxygen, you straightened your posture and met the mystery jogger’s gaze.
“I...do you want to get coffee sometime, or something?”
Had you really just asked that? Right now?
You were about to throw your arm over your face to hide your shame.
Just as you tried to think of other places you and Steve could jog, the man laughed.
It was a heart sound that warmed your chest, and his smile?
You had never seen anything quite like it: wide and pure.
As you shyly met his gaze, you realized it reached his eyes.
“How about water, like right now?”
“Now?”
“Yeah, now.”
The rest was history, simple as that.
He met Steve and Sam became a fixture in your life; and you in his.
Dates became missions and, before long, you shared a room at the Avengers compound.
You and Sam meshed on some silent level, beyond your shared understanding.
He could tell when you were off and you could read him so easily.
“Hey, you okay?”
“Rough day.”
“How about a flight to clear your head,” you suggested, handing him his goggles.
“As long as you’re coming with.”
He holds on to you so tightly as he flies through the city.
The trust you put in those metal wings to keep you both aloft was otherworldly
But never once did you doubt Sam.
He would never let you down.
Only lovingly embarrass you in front of friends and family.
When Sam retells the story of how you met to his sister Sarah, years later, he jokes about how he had never seen anyone looked more shocked in his life.
“I’ve been through war and Avengers training, so when I tell you I’ve seen people look like they’re about to shi-”
“Hey! The boys!”
At that same table, you hid your face and shook your head.
“I was scared I was going to creep you out.”
“Oh, you did,” Sam said with that wide, unabashed smile on his face. “But you were charming about it.”
He tells the story of how you met when you meet his family.
He doesn’t tell them about Hydra, about Bucky, or even the danger your jobs put you both in.
Sarah seemed to know it, and Sam’s nephews were too young to understand.
You get to see a side of Sam that he didn’t show the rest of the team.
“It’s funny.”
“What is?” He asked, drying the dishes you had just finished washing.
“They call you ‘Uncle Sam’, like the propaganda cartoon.”
“Cause we work with Captain America?”
“Yeah,” you said, nudging his shoulder with yours. “It’s funny.”
“It’s not, but it’s fun to see you try to be.”
With a gasp, you tossed a handful of soap suds at him.
White bubbles clung to his shirt and, after he collected himself, Sam looked at you with a playful fight in his eyes.
“Oh, it is so on.”
You both end up covered in suds and cleaning Sarah’s kitchen.
Whenever you and Sam aren’t in New York (for Avengers business) or in D.C. (for state business), you’re at his childhood home in Louisiana.
Sarah and her boys become your little family as you and Sam grow closer.
It’s strange, you’re not sure when you realized you were in love with him
Though, one night sticks out in your mind.
It was just you and Sam, sitting on the dock, basking in the orange light of the sunset.
“Thanks for coming down here with me. I know our missing person search is important, but I had to-“
“No, I get it,” you rested a hand on his muscled upper arm. “Family first.”
It’s then, when the silence falls over you both, that you realize Sam's staring at you
And you’re staring at him.
You’re desperate to break the sudden tension so you blurt out your first thought.
It seems that Sam did the same as you both say:
“You’re my family.”
Sam smiles, a soft smile, not the wide grin you loved; though, you loved this expression too.
Without a word, Sam leans in and presses his lips to yours.
He tastes like beer and the brownies Sarah made for dessert.
His hand cups your cheek and your fingers wrap around his wrist, holding his palm to your skin.
The kiss is gentle, though everything Sam did with you was gentle, as if he didn’t want to risk breaking the thing you had built together.
Not that he could break it.
Nothing could, not really.
When Sam pulled his lips from yours, a smile spread along your face.
“Plus, I get to see your baby pictures which gives me all the blackmail I could ever want.”
“You’re kidding me, right?”
“Only a little.”
He kissed you again, harder this time.
“I love you,” Sam mumbled against your lips.
“I love you too.”
Banter is a big part of your relationship.
Sam is always one for teasing and cracking jokes to keep people at arm's length.
But with you, while he still teases, he’s more careful
He’s not afraid to just stay quiet, savor the fleeting moments between missions with you.
During those ‘between times’, you and Sam stay in.
Work, missions, what have you, takes you both across the globe
So, when there’s peace, you both hunker down in the Avenger’s compound or visit his family.
Sam is an early riser due to his past in the military and is always awake before you.
He’s a sucker for breakfast food?
He’s always making it as you climb out of bed.
“You hungry?”
“Is that-”
“Pancakes.”
When you help him cook, Sam likes to put music on in the background.
You swear he does it on purpose because, when he inevitably starts to dance, he pulls you along with him.
Depending on the music, Sam will hold you close, sway with you in his arms, or shimmies around the kitchen until you become a giggling mess.
“Join me! You know you want to!”
“The food is going to burn!”
“Sure is! Now dance with me, baby!”
How could you not when he gave you that smile of his?
When things started to grow more heated, after Ultron, after Sokovia, your kitchen dance parties became rare.
You stayed with Sam, sided with Steve and you both paid the price for it.
It was only a few days before Steve came to save you all from the Raft but it was pure torture.
You were in the cell across from Sam, watching him pace the floor and tense up with anger.
The moment you were freed, you ran to him.
Being on the run with Sam added a new layer to your relationship.
It didn’t come without its challenges as being a wanted criminal was easy on no one.
There were nights where you and Sam would sleep with your backs to each other.
It was the stress of running that crippled you both on those nights, made everything, every worry and doubt, difficult to talk about.
But it was also running that brought you together, that kept you together too.
You and Sam would run to the rescue of some poor souls
And promptly run back to each other.
When Steve wasn’t around to keep you both in check, you and Sam would explore whatever country you found yourselves in.
Trying all sorts of different foods with him.
“What is that?”
“Delicious, so, does it really matter?”
Late night flights under the stars and holding each other close in the quinjet.
Then...Thanos…
And, despite all his carefulness and his holding you close, Sam was gone
For five years, you had no one to run with or to
You stayed with Natasha in the Avenger’s compound and tried to help Sarah with the house and her boys.
Whenever you went to Louisiana, you came back in tears.
“You don’t have to go back, you know,” Sarah said one time. “You’re always welcome here, Y/N. You’re family.”
It took all you had left of your strength to not break down in her living room, to not cry clinging to an old photograph of Sam in a baseball uniform.
“That’s why I need to go back,” you whimpered, “so we can try to get him back to us. His family.”
It’s a misty-eyed flight home.
Flying is not the same without Sam; the sky is emptier.
It felt like the thing, the love you had built together was about to break when Scott rolled up to the door of the Avenger’s compound with his ‘time heist’ in hand.
It gave you hope and, eventually, it gave you Sam back too.
“It’s been five years right? You haven’t aged a day.”
His joke brings you to happy tears before you fall into his arms, caked with grime from the battle.
“I got you, I got you.”
After Tony and Steve’s strange send off, you and Sam took a stay-cation.
Most of the time, you two stayed in bed, unwilling to let the other go in case something tried to snap reality in half again.
“I don’t know what he wants me to do with it,” he says, eyeing the bagged up shield propped up against your bedroom wall.
“You know,” you replied, lifting your head from his chest to look into his eyes. “He wants you to keep fighting. Be ‘Uncle Sam’.”
“It’s still not funny.”
You shake your head at him before leaning down to kiss him.
You’re careful, just as he was all those years ago on the dock.
When you pull away, you explain, “it’s not meant to be.”
Sam smiles at you, that same wide, pure smile that won you over the day you first met.
No matter what happens next, you know that, as long as you can see that smile, you’ll make it to fight another day.

My Gift to You
I received an anonymous request to write something about Nesta and Rhys’ relationship post ACOSF and them having a conversation. The requestor said that their relationship didn’t feel genuine enough and that they had a lot of work to do before they consider themselves brother/ sister.
I mean.... same anon. Same. The relationship was definitely not one of happy families in my eyes and personally Rhys buying Nesta gifts just felt like the cheapest way to close the lid on their ‘relationship.’
I don’t know if this is what anon wanted but I just can’t write a future where those two truly bond and get along. So this is Nesta and Rhys as I feel would be most appropriate.
***
‘Brother,’ she’d called Rhys. It was not a word which drifted from her lips as easily as it did from Feyre’s when she used the term to refer to Cassian, or for Cassian himself when he spoke of his kin.
Brother.
There had been no time for thinking, not with the screaming and shrieking and the copper tang of blood filling her nose. Rhys was losing his mind and the healer, Madja, was next to useless, pleading with Feyre to fight death - an act as impactful as a raindrop at the bottom of the ocean.
If fighting death were easy, everyone would win.
Nesta knew if you needed to beg for a life, you needed to beg to what could heed you.
The memory of what transpired for Nesta, when she stepped from one form into another, had faded over time like some strange fever dream.
There had been a presence swimming next to her, a shark with a sharp fin and razor teeth, twisting and arching, waiting to tear from her what she had torn out first. But something else was with her, someone else, with a golden light to illuminate Nesta’s way.
Something given and something gained. Those were the thoughts floating in her mind once she’d been present again.
Nesta sought out the opening of Feyre’s eyes, desperately listened for a new-born’s wail and thankfully, she received both.
Afterwards, in the calm, long after she’d embraced Rhys, Nesta wondered what she had meant by that word - brother.
Even as she cradled Nyx’s delicate head in the nook of her arm, stroking the tufts of downy black hair, she didn’t think of him as someone she shared with Rhys. No, despite the hair and sleepy violet eyes, he was someone Nesta shared with Feyre.
Sister. That was a stronger word.
The first infant Nesta ever held was Feyre. She remembered a scrunched up red face peeking behind a blanket as her new baby sister was placed in her arms while a toddler Elain sobbed in the background, upset at not being baby anymore.
I already have one of these.
That was her first thought, her first memory of Feyre.
“Look”, someone had said as Feyre opened her eyes, “they’re the same as yours, Nesta. The very same.”
For a long time, that’s all they had in common. The gift of the same eyes.
Perhaps Nesta had called Rhys brother because in that moment he was. He was her mirror counterpart, not a piece of her heart or soul the way Feyre, Elain and Cassian were but something prominent nonetheless. A shard of glass slicing into each other’s bones that they just couldn’t pull out.
Thank you, he’d said and she wanted to tell him not to say those words. She didn’t do anything requiring praise, she did what she did for the love of her sister and her sister’s child.
Do not thank me for my very nature.
They drifted into an uneasy peace. A gulf remained between Nesta and Elain which Nesta had no energy to remedy, but a bridge had been built between Nesta and Feyre and the connection was one Nesta strengthened as much as possible.
Nesta walked with Feyre around her gardens, joined at dinners and was polite and nodded and minded her manners and, when she had enough, she would return to the House of Wind and let Cassian love her.
As time passed, so did Nesta’s thoughts of Rhys as a brother.
Once again, he became her sister’s mate, her mate’s friend, her nephew’s father. Once again, he became High Lord. Ruler. Overseer.
Months after Nyx’s birth, Rhys and Feyre attended Winter to visit Viviane who had recently birthed her first child - a girl and rumours had followed of secret meetings between the High Lords. Rhys had purchased numerous furs; thick, luxurious pelts in sable, fawn and silver and sent them Nesta’s way.
“I don’t want these things he gives me,” she told Cassian soon after, standing in a room filled with Rhys’ tokens.
“The furs aren’t too bad,” Cassian replied. “They make the floor more comfortable,” he said, his mouth hot on her neck.
She allowed him to distract her but at night while Cassian slept, she walked around the House, grazing objects with her fingertips and glared at the ones which seemed to shimmer too bright, too long. The House itself rippled with unease.
“They’re all junk,” Nesta said to the darkened hallways. “Jewels and silks and throw cushions.”
Feyre and Rhys had told her once, not long ago, how embarrassed they were at the quantity of their money she’d spent on her path towards destruction. Her pulse jumped underneath her skin at the memory.
There had been no love for her life back then, no begging and pleading to a higher power. No, it had been their love for their finances, their concern for their reputation, their lack of control over Nesta which spiralled into entrapment.
Die, she’d heard. Just do so cheaply and in the dark.
Although the word ‘brother’ faded from her mind, Nesta let her animosity go with it. She had the sweetness of her nephew to immerse herself in and she marvelled at the smile on his gummy mouth and the way he wriggled across the floor on his belly towards her, perfect black wings tucked against his body.
One day he would use them to soar the skies and his freedom, his life, was the best gift Nesta had ever received.
His life was the best gift Nesta would ever give.
Nyx was shy of a year old when the whispers started. One day they didn’t exist and the next – they did. They held a metallic quality as though they being spoken through the clang of steel on steel.
High King.
One night, while Cassian rested on the furs, naked and sated, she trailed her fingertips up his knee, up his thigh to where his flesh lay, warm and re-hardening.
“Tell me,” she said, circling a finger around the tip, “what did Rhys speak to Kallias about all those months ago?”
Cassian exhaled a long breath. “Rhys wants Kallias to accept him as ruler.”
“Of the Night Court?”
“No, he – ah, don’t stop – of Prythian.”
“And what was their arrangement? How could Rhys obtain Kallias’ agreement?”
Cassian’s gasps filled her ears. “Through Nyx,” he forced out, “a promise he would marry Kallias’ daughter.”
After that she listened more to what the clanging whispers told her across the breeze, to what the House told her, to what she heard outside closed doors in Rhys’ home on visits to her sister.
Nesta was as serene as the Mother herself when she drifted to Rhys’ study and lingered by the locked door where he and Amren held counsel.
“They are the same as before, inert and useless.”
“Get her to the blacksmith, boy.”
“Her ability is gone.”
“Possibly, but test her to be sure. If she forges a hundred thousand swords then at least one might be Made.”
“She won’t do it.”
“Ban her from seeing the child until she does. She’ll forge then.”
Nesta closed her eyes, clenching her fists until her nails dug into her palms and blood trickled through her knuckles.
For a moment Nesta became a blade, sharp and dangerous, mounted on a wall and viewing Rhys and Amren from a height. The shadows danced from the lit hearth onto Rhys making his face sunken and hollow. For the first time, Rhys looked every inch the ancient creature he was.
Amren walked to the blade that was Ataraxia, that was Nesta, her silver eyes reflected in the shining metal, a palm splayed outwards with the reverence a worshipper showed their god.
“Turns out she wasn’t a pathetic waste of life after all.”
From then on Nesta would listen to what the blades told her.
Rhys took them from their mounts and held them, caressed them as he should his sleeping mate, his violet eyes passing from hilt to blade tip as his pupils grew fat with want.
They spoke to him but they didn’t listen and Rhys struggled with the push and pull every time he lifted a blade from the wall.
He practiced with them in the safety of his study but the blades were too heavy and made him clumsy, leaving the usually graceful High Lord stumbling over his feet. A ripple spread through the metal almost as though the sword were laughing.
We are no advantage to him, the whispers told her and Nesta knew they were infused with the anger she held towards Rhys when she Made them. Now, they said, now he believes himself your brother and he would like a new gift.
Instead that was what she asked him for, next time she was at his home.
“Hello, sister,” and his smile was akin to a wolf’s as it waited in the field for lambs.
“Rhys.”
He agreed vigorously to her request before she even named her price. Maybe Rhys thought he could eventually turn the bee itself into honey.
“I’ve given some thought,” she said, “and I’d like something back. Eris has the dagger but you have two swords remaining in your possession. Keep the small one but Ataraxia, I would like her to be mine. I will never ask anything else from you.”
The smile on his face froze into place as though he’d gone into the depths of Winter and been lost.
Though the blade wasn’t his, he didn’t want it to be hers.
“I don’t think so,” his voice soft. “What if someone tries to take advantage of you and steals the sword away?”
“I’d destroy it first.” However much the thought pained her, Ataraxia’s destruction had been considered - a gift to the other High Lords, one they would never know they’d received.
Rhys shook his head, his eyes dark. “No,” he said, “I need them.” Despite their resistance they were the only Made weapons in his hold.
“Why?”
He said nothing.
Nesta’s lip curled into a sneer. “To be High King, Rhys?”
He glowered at her.
“You know you’re starting a war among incredibly powerful High Lords?”
“I’m the most powerful.”
“There are more of them, they will combine their powers.”
“I have allies.”
“You have enemies.”
“I have friends.”
Nesta sighed and looked to the two swords, the metal glinting as though caught by firelight although the fire was unlit. Her name was murmured, the rasp of metal on metal.
“They’re your friends now but you’re demanding they give up their people, their lands and heritage to you and for what? Why would they do that willingly?”
She turned away from him and stood before the mounted blades. Her reflection was as clear as though they were mirrors, as was Rhys’ behind her, a dark mist forming over his skin.
“This is a war your son will likely reach adulthood in,” she continued, “do you want that for him?”
“I’m doing this for him,” Rhys spat, “you’re no mother, you wouldn’t understand. This is his legacy. My gift to him.”
A calm transcended over Nesta, as though she were wading through the clear waters of a pool, a loving hand on her back reminding her of their presence.
“Your gift to him should be allowing him to live his life. To allow him to care for the people of the Night Court, to give him the chance to fall in love and choose a partner of his own calling.”
“You don’t understand,” Rhys said again, “you had power for mere months and you think you’re the authority of giving it up. It’s a choice you wouldn’t have made if you understood what powerlessness meant.”
Once, when she wore another body, she could count the ribs underneath her skin by tracing them with her fingertips.
Once, in that same body, a man had pressed himself against her, his tongue forced into her mouth.
Once, Fae had ripped away her bedsheet and dragged her from her bed while Elain’s screams echoed in the dark hallway. She had drowned in the depths of the Cauldron, she’d watched her father’s blood spray across the grass, and she’d been dragged from her bed once more to be drugged and bound with her new body useless.
“If you say so.”
Nesta repeated Amren’s actions and traced her finger against the blade, Ataraxia shivered as though Nesta were running a finger down the spine of a lover. The sword moved, almost imperceptibly, but Nesta saw and wondered if Rhys did.
She’d bargained for the lives of his mate and son and yet Rhys wasn’t satisfied. Nesta was his mirror and so he gave her gifts believing she would want them as much as he did, because he continually sought out tokens to keep. He believed she would never be satisfied because he never was.
Nesta left, leaving him with the blades. They would be no benefit for him anyway and it wouldn’t be long before Ataraxia came back to her. Nesta understood now that Ataraxia had been her gift to herself.
All gone now, the Inner Circle assumed. After saving Feyre’s life, Nesta’s gift from the Cauldron is exhausted.
Lies, she thought as she walked the paths of Velaris to head home. All lies. The Cauldron had never gifted Nesta with anything. Everything she held had been stolen, ripped from something that never intended her to have it.
The sky was black, the fae lights of the taverns and restaurants glowing amber against the pitch and the happy chatter of the city revellers emerged from behind doors. All these fae living their lives as best they could, trusting in the protection of their High Lord.
They weren’t the same, her and Rhys, they were mirrored on the surface only.
Yes, they both stole power from those who never intended to gift it but she would die for those she loved while Rhys would kill for them.
The cold air was sharp and drew Nesta’s thoughts from the corners of her mind like a knife drew blood when sliced against skin. She drew her cloak around her shoulders and wrapped her arms around her middle.
There had been screaming and blood and Nesta’s pleas. There had been the dark slithering laughter of something taking something back. But there had also been the warmth of a hand, ethereal and eternal on her back and a golden magic which poured into Nesta until it overflowed.
Daughter.
The Mother had welcomed Nesta and received her gift with open arms, re-gifting to her in return.
Death transmuted into life. Quieter but no less powerful. No less valuable in the future to come.
This is yours, Nesta was told, and will remain so until the end. This is my gift to you.

“new arrivals” (chilumi oneshot)
Lumine and Childe anticipate the birth of their baby. As always, the two of them never have a moment of peace, and unexpected events arise, throwing everything in danger’s way.
//
hey friends! long time no see :p
i’ve finished my fic “the president and the troublemaker” so i’m back to writing one shots for a bit. if you haven’t read it yet, check it out on my profile :D
this oneshot is in response to this ask i received c:
[Fic Masterlist] // [AO3 Link]
* * *
“new arrivals”
Lumine hated Childe. Well, she hated Childe sometimes. She loved him, she really did, but in this moment, she hated him.
“Just because I am pregnant, doesn’t mean I can’t walk,” she nearly growled at him.
With a sheepish smile, Childe removed his hands from her arms. “Sorry, sorry. Your waddling makes me nervous.”
Lumine scoffed. “Of course I have to waddle.” She patted her swollen belly. “How else can I get around with this thing in me?”
Almost as if in retaliation, Lumine felt a kick inside her—don’t call me ‘thing.’
Instantly, Childe’s hand were resting on her bump, eagerly awaiting their baby’s movements. It truly amazed Lumine at how natural Childe’s paternal instincts were.
Their weekly spars had turned into nightly meetings, and nightly meetings had turned into...Well. Their current situation. It hadn’t been planned, obviously, it had just happened.
It had taken Lumine a whole week of nauseous morning after nauseous morning before Childe finally convinced her to visit Bubu Pharmacy where they both received the shock of their lives. Baizhu had been very compassionate, ensuring the confidentiality of the pregnancy as they left.
Childe had been the first one to get over the shock. For Childe, who had spent his life surrounded by family and younger siblings, he had easily grown accustomed to the idea of his own family—especially one with Lumine.
Lumine, on the other hand, took much, much longer. She hadn’t ever given it a thought: her own family?
She was on a quest to find her brother, of course. To regain her powers, defeat the Unknown God, and leave this world with Aether. She couldn’t just settle down and start a family.
Weeks passed, Lumine’s stomach growing, as she slipped into a dark place, thoughts of failure filling her mind—I’m never going to leave now.
Childe had spent all of his time, taking care of Lumine as she looked after herself less and less. Slowly, he was giving up his duties as a Harbinger; the Tsaritsa and his comrades were growing suspicious. Childe knew if they found out, it would only end in violence. A child between one of their strongest Harbingers and the all-powerful Outlander? They would surely want it as a pawn on their side, if they weren’t going to kill it first.
Childe found them a tiny cottage secluded in the vast mountain ranges of Liyue, with help from Zhongli, who was, of course, the most familiar with the lay of the land. He practically had to carry Lumine there, who was still deep in her depressive state, who spent her days laying in bed, staring blankly at the walls of her inn room, unwilling to move.
Once they were in the cottage, Childe again took care of her as she continued to contemplate her fate, unmoving; he made sure she ate, he cleaned her, and was always there to hold her at night, telling her that he would be with her no matter what she decided to do.
Her love for him only deepened as she saw how selflessly he helped her, how loyal he was. Because of him and his love and devotion, she slowly came to terms with their situation.
The more she thought about it, the more she wanted this life: some secluded home in the mountains with Childe and a bouncing baby on her hip. A slow, peaceful life; it would be such a luxury from what her life was before. But, there was always that pang of guilt that settled in the back of her throat: the anxious thoughts that she was abandoning Aether, her twin brother, for this.
And perhaps it was that guilt that blocked Lumine from having any real connection with the life growing inside her. She hadn’t envisioned whether it would be a son or daughter, whether it would have her hair or Childe’s eyes—she hadn’t even thought of a name. Thinking of this baby only drew up a blank slate, a missing void.
Now nearing the end of her pregnancy, she felt a lot of movement inside. She knew that those moments were supposed to be special, that mothers cherished those feelings, but Lumine’s body registered them more as just...foreign movements.
There was also the fear. The fear of not being able to be a mother in the first place. She envied Childe and his ease with parenthood: knowing all the things to prepare, the foods she should be eating, the first lessons to teach. Lumine had no clue what to say or do.
She and Aether had been abandoned, left to fend for themselves, from a very young age. She never had a solid parental figure in her life.
How am I ever going to be a good mother?
A soft touch to her cheek pulled Lumine from her ruminations.
Childe gave her a smile. “Need anything, Lumi?”
Lumine put her hand over his. “Hm, I am a bit hungry,” she said.
A light chuckle. “How about some sticky honey roast?” His hand slid down from her cheek, his thumb on the corner of her lips. “You’re drooling already.”
She stuck her tongue out at him. “Shouldn’t you be hurrying up then?”
Childe laughed, then kissed her forehead. “I’ll come get you when it’s ready,” he told her, exiting to the kitchen.
Lumine turned, looking out the open window, into their little garden. The earthly scent wafted through the window, the warm sunshine adding an extra tang to the air. Through the window she counted the growing vegetables, taking note of those ready to harvest.
Humming quietly to herself, she made her way to the kitchen, standing in the doorway to watch Childe flutter about the room, pulling various pots, pans, and utensils out from the shelves.
Archons, he was going to be such a good father.
!!!
There was another movement in her womb, this time sharper, a bit more painful. She let out a tiny gasp.
Childe turned, and immediately went to her, brows furrowed. “You okay?”
“Yes,” she sighed. “There’s been a lot of movement lately.”
There was a long pause before Childe spoke. “Must mean it’s nearly time.”
She locked eyes with him. “Already?”
He reached out and soothed out her hair. “Hey, no worries. I will be right here with you—always.” He smiled softly. “We’ll get through it together.”
Lumine nodded, her throat drying. “I’ll be in the garden for a bit.”
“Okay. Can you get some carrots while you’re there? We’re running a bit low.”
She nodded again, leaving the house while Childe returned to his preparations.
She walked through the tall grass, pushing open the wooden fence leading into the garden, her slippers thudding quietly against the little cobblestone path. Finding the patch of carrots, she slowly knelt down, beginning to pull the orange vegetables from the earth.
Birds tweeted, insects chirped, and Lumine again found herself in the vortex of anxiety as she thought about the coming days. Any day from now, she was going to birth a whole new life into the world—a tiny, little, helpless life she was going to have to raise, look after. Can I do it?
She shook her head.
She had helped countless lives, people of all ages and backgrounds, during her time in Teyvat. She had even formed special bonds with so many of them, this child being a result of one of those special bonds. So, surely she would find her way to loving this new life, to caring for it with all her heart, right?
And she would still search for Aether. Aether wouldn’t be angry. He would love a niece or nephew to look after. She was sure her child would love their uncle right back. So, she would have to find Aether for her child and—
BZZT.
Lumine blinked. Was that a bug?
“Found you.”
Lumine looked over her shoulder, finding a familiar blue-haired boy standing behind her. Scaramouche.
“What an annoyance it’s been looking for you,” he said, the ball of electricity crackling dangerously in his hand.
Anxiety pooled into Lumine’s veins. She wouldn’t be able to fight him, not like this. I can’t even stand up quickly right now.
!!!
Another painful movement ripped through Lumine’s body. She bit the side of her cheek in to keep quiet in front of Scaramouche.
“Not going to say anything?” he taunted, taking steps closer to her. “Not even going to raise your weapon at me?”
She dug her nails into the dirt, trying to make the pain go away.
“C’mon. What happened to the almighty Outlander?” His voice continued to drop in annoyance. Lumine could feel the electricity sparking directly behind her now.
“What do you want?” she strained out.
A sardonic laugh rippled through the air as he yanked her up by her hair.
“What I’ve been ordered to do.” He brought the electricity closer to her throat. “To kill—”
He froze, tiny flickers of Electro energy pricking Lumine’s skin. He let her go, stepping around her as she collapsed back onto the ground.
“How...interesting,” he breathed, eyes cast down at Lumine’s pregnant body. “So this is why you’ve hid all this time.” His eyes twitched, calculating what to do with the new information.
Lumine rubbed at her neck. “Are you still going to kill me? Or take me back to your Tsaritsa?”
“Who’s the father?” Violet-blue eyes met amber. “Don’t tell me…” He let out a cynical laugh, eyes growing wide with hysteria. “That idiot? Of course! Why didn’t we see it before? The two of you did disappear around the same time…”
He leaned down, bringing the Electro energy back near Lumine’s face. “Tartaglia’s nearby, isn’t he?”
Lumine glared at him. I can just pull my sword out right now. He was close enough for her to throw a quick jab at. Maybe she could disarm him and get away.
It had been so long since she had last fought, since she last materialized her sword. It was going to take some time to do it.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” she finally answered. She focused her energy to her palm, searching through the void for her weapon.
“Playing dumb’s not going to work.” There was a surge of power through the ball of electricity. “You should just tell me before I kill you and find out for myself.”
“You don’t even want the child? You’re just going to kill a potentially powerful weapon?” she tried to bargain. She needed more time. She could feel her sword’s particles slowly returning to her.
Scaramouche paused for a brief second to consider. “Sounds like a liability.” He glanced up at the sky. “The Tsaritsa has all she needs. I’d rather not run the risk of another filthy betrayer.”
SHING!
Lumine’s sword appeared in her hand.
Without hesitation, she stabbed up at Scaramouche, forcing all the elemental energy in her body through the weapon.
Anemo and Geo energy struck the Harbinger in his chest, sending him flying across the garden.
Lumine struggled to stand, stumbling her way back to the house, energy already quickly draining from her heavy body. She glanced back at Scaramouche.
He was standing up, his eyes twitching with rage. “You—” He launched an Electro attack directly at her.
She raised her hand, trying to charge her counter attack as fast as she could.
I can’t get it in time—!
A shield of Hydro formed in front of her, dissipating Scaramouche’s attack.
Relief washed over Lumine as she turned around. Childe—
“Mona?!” she blurted.
The twin-tailed astrologist gave her a small smile. “Didn’t expect to see you here,” she said. Her eyes flickered to Lumine’s belly. “And with child?”
“What are you doing here?!”
Mona threw up a Hydro shield as Scaramouche fired another sphere of Electro.
“The Hydro witch again,” he snarled. “You’re really getting on my nerves.”
Scaramouche charged an arc of lightning straight at them.
Mona casted a large bubble of water to surround them, wincing as the lightning collided with the shield, burning sparks deflecting all over.
The lightning didn’t disappear upon collision, instead continuously barraging against the water. Mona closed her eyes in concentration, brows furrowing with each passing second.
Scaramouche twisted his arm, amping the lightning with more energy, the Electro glow brightening.
CRACK!
Mona let out a sharp gasp; a fine line had splintered in the bubble.
Lumine raised her hands, straining her muscles, and mustering any energy in her body to charge a barrier of her own to help her friend.
!!!
She groaned as she collapsed back onto her knees, a horrible, throbbing pain rippling through her abdomen. Her eyes widened, feeling water trickle down the side of her leg.
No, no, no...not now!
“Lumine!” Mona breathed out. “What’s wrong?”
The blonde cried out as her body underwent another contraction. “I—the baby…,” was all she managed to get out before letting out another cry of pain. The baby is coming!
Mona cursed, another line fracturing in her shield.
“It’s over!” Scaramouche yelled. “There’s no use delaying your deaths!”
A smattering of blue Hydro energy rushed past the women, heading directly for the Harbinger. Just as quickly, Scaramouche withdrew his arc of lightning at Mona and Lumine, blocking the oncoming attack.
Childe locked his daggers with Scaramouche’s Electro shield. His face was twisted in a snarl, a dark, evil expression Lumine had never seen before.
“I’m going to kill you,” he said to Scaramouche, voice gravelly, but plain, as if it were just a simple fact being stated.
The blue-haired boy barked out a laugh. “You can’t. You were always the weakest one of us all.”
Childe mimicked the laughter. “I never did like you, Scaramouche.” His ocean eyes narrowed. “I’m going to enjoy this.”
There was an explosion of Hydro, engulfing the two Harbingers. The two struck each other with ultimate speed and precision, only brief glimpses of their fight visible, disembodied clashes of weapons and elements.
Mona let down her own barrier, short of breath, and knelt next to Lumine.
“I’ll teleport us out of here—to safety,” she said.
Lumine reached out, grasping onto her friend’s arm. “No,” she heaved. “Not...without him.” She looked up, eyes tracking Childe. I’m not going to leave you.
“The father?” the mage asked. She worried her lip as she stared ahead, lost in thought. Then, “Wait here,” she said.
The witch shimmered into thin air with a torrent of water, reappearing next to Childe. Both Scaramouche and Childe immediately turned their weapons at her, which she deflected.
She leapt and grabbed Childe by the shoulder, disappearing yet again, rematerializing next to Lumine. Childe and Scaramouche both let out curses as Mona grabbed Lumine’s arm.
WHOOSH!
Lumine blinked, and the three of them were in a thick forest: a distance aways from where they were before.
Mona cried out as Childe knocked her to the ground, foot pinning her arm, dagger at her face.
“Who are you?” he growled.
“Friend!” Lumine croaked out. “She’s my friend!”
Childe turned towards Lumine. He released his weapons, rushing to Lumine’s side. “Are you hurt?” he asked, gently examining her.
“It’s coming,” Lumine whispered.
She felt his muscles tense against her. “Right now?” Upon her nod, he clenched his jaw. He turned back to Mona. “Do you know anything about childbirth?”
Mona glared at him slightly, rubbing at her bruised arm. “No. I’m an astrologist, not a doctor.”
Childe returned the expression. “Could you get us to Liyue Harbor? To BuBu Pharmacy?”
A shake of the head. “It takes a lot of energy to teleport. I won’t be able to do it for a while, unfortunately.”
!!!
Another contraction pulsed through Lumine’s body. “Now,” she groaned. “It has to be now.” It’s coming, it’s coming, it’s coming. Tears gathered in her eyes, from the pain, from the fear barraging her mind.
“Okay, okay,” Childe said, tender. He stroked Lumine’s hair. “You’re going to have the baby right here, okay?”
He yanked off his jacket, laying it under Lumine. He motioned at Mona. “You are going to have to hold her leg.”
Mona came to Lumine’s side, face slightly pale, then took off her cape and folded it into a makeshift pillow under the blonde’s head. “You’re a doctor?”
Childe shook his head. His face was taut. “Lots of younger siblings. I’ve seen my mother deliver before.” He grabbed Lumine’s hand softly. “It’s mostly going to be you from here,” he said. He squeezed her hand. “And I know you’re going to do great. Like you always do.”
I can’t.
All her battles combined didn’t come close to the excruciating pain radiating throughout her body now. Her mind was fleeting, blurred—all of her previous anxieties crashing back; she was senseless, she couldn’t fight them off.
“I can’t,” she finally whispered. “I can’t do this; I can’t be a mother.”
Childe tucked her hair back, leaning in close, lips nestled on her forehead. “There is absolutely no one in this world that compares to you,” he whispered back. “It’s terrifying, I know, but if there’s anyone that can be an amazing mother, it’s you.”
“How do you know?”
“I’ve seen you defeat armies of men, monsters, and gods—”
“Childe, that’s different—”
“—and I’ve seen how brilliantly resilient you are. You would stop at nothing for those you love.”
“Ahem,” Mona coughed awkwardly.
Lumine and Childe looked at her.
She looked away, bashful. “You have this strange ability to have patience, and to care for everyone,” Mona said. “Even when they’re difficult and stubborn...like me.” She finally looked back at Lumine. “I think...I think anyone would be lucky to have you as their mother, Lumine.”
Lumine sniffled loudly. “Mona…”
“Now, now,” the mage interrupted. “Let’s get this on the way. I suppose being an aunt would be fun…”
“She’s right,” Childe added. “I thank the stars everyday that I’m going to be able to love and cherish this child with you. There’s no one else that could ever come close to you, Lumi.”
Tears fully rained from Lumine’s eyes. Slowly, she began to nod.
They were right. She knew herself more than capable. And she wasn’t going to be alone. Even with her fears, she had her loved ones there to support her. Together, they would be strong enough for anything.
I...I can do this.
“Thank you, both,” she breathed. She reached out, putting her hand in Childe’s. “I love you.”
He smiled at her. “I love you too.” He kissed her before kneeling by her feet.
“Deep breathes,” Childe told her. “Then push, okay?”
She nodded, taking in a lungful of air.
Breathe, Lumine, breathe.
Breathe.
PUSH.
Lumine let out a sharp cry, pushing with every ounce of strength left in her body, nerves excruciatingly igniting all over. The trees swayed as the wind picked up around the three.
Pleasepleaseplease—
“Lumine,” Mona murmured, glancing up at the leaves. “Your energy is leaking out.”
Lumine stopped pushing for a second, forehead slick with sweat. “Wha-What does that mean?”
Mona pointed at swirls of Anemo energy forming above, leaves and branches beginning to snap off. “It may very well mean you might level this entire forest.”
Oh no… “I-I can’t control it right now,” Lumine said.
“Can you form a seal of some sort?” Childe asked.
The astrologist bit her lip. “I can certainly try.” She grabbed Lumine’s hand then nodded.
Taking in another deep breath, Lumine started pushing again. Both her and Mona winced as Lumine squeezed their hands together. A blue glow emitted lightly from her body—Mona’s magic—and she felt her elemental energy rattling in her veins.
“You’re doing great, Lumi,” Childe said over her panting. “You’re almost there.”
Almost...there!
Lumine screamed as she felt a final wave of pain, and the intense release of pressure.
Then, a cry.
Not hers, however. The pitched wailing of a baby.
She relaxed back, just listening to the crying as Childe and Mona shuffled around, checking on the baby.
It’s here.
She looked down at her feet where Childe was wrapping the baby in his gray jacket. He was smiling, his blue eyes blissfully aglow.
He carried the bundle to Lumine. “A son,” he told her. The baby was placed in her arms.
For the first time ever, Lumine looked down at her son.
My son.
“He’s so small,” she said, smoothing down his head of light hair. She held him close to her heart, and the crying quieted down. His tiny eyes opened, bleary blue hues taking in the world.
Her heart ached as it swelled with overwhelming emotion. Seeing this tiny creature, this life she carried for many months—a product of her and Childe’s love and passion—she knew she already loved him, that yes, she would give her all to protect him: her new family.
Childe wrapped his arms around her shoulders, looking down at their son as well. “You did it,” he murmured, kissing her forehead.
“Congratulations,” Mona said. “The battle isn’t over quite yet.”
Lumine looked up at her friend. “What do you mean?”
Mona raised a brow. “There is another child, isn’t there?”
…
What?
Both Lumine and Childe stared at the astrologist blankly.
“How do you know?” Childe asked.
“Oh, Archons, you really didn’t know,” Mona responded, panicked. “When I was using my magic to seal away Lumine’s elemental energy, I felt the two different life forms—it’s twins.”
!!!
Lumine felt her muscles tense as her body prepared for another delivery. She let out a gasp, looking up at Childe to confirm, yes, there is another baby.
“Hold the baby,” he said to Mona, moving back down to Lumine’s feet.
Mona gently took the baby into her arms, a look of uncertainty scrawled on her face.
BOOM!
There was a thunderous strike of lightning right next to the group; as the dust settled, Scaramouche stepped out of the fog, purple electricity crackling all over his body.
“Would you look at that,” he growled, eyes narrowing in on the newborn. “Another body to dispose of.” A wicked grin pulled at his lips. “I was going to kill you all quickly, but now I think I’m going to make it slow. And tortuous.”
Childe stood, eyes dark. “Mona, keep Lumine safe.”
Then, he launched towards the other Harbinger, becoming engulfed in electricity as well. The two impacted, an explosion resonating around them, and Childe stepped out from the smoke, his Foul Legacy transformation completed.
Over the deafening sounds of blades crashing, Mona took the cape from under Lumine’s head, laying it under her body. She spoke to Lumine, “Are you ready to start pushing?”
Lumine shook her head feverishly. “I can’t.” Not without Childe.
“You must,” her friend said. “You can’t help him until you do.”
Lumine’s body locked up in pain with another contraction. “Okay,” she strained out.
Mona nodded, conjuring a glob of water, then placing Lumine’s child on it. “It’s the only bassinet I can make right now.”
“Can you still help seal my energy?”
“Of course.” Mona knelt by Lumine’s feet. “Are you ready?”
Lumine swallowed hard, then nodded. After taking in many deep breaths, she mustered all the remaining strength in her body to push.
A labored cry exhaled from her body, every fiber in her body praying for it all to stop.
“It’s almost out,” Mona encouraged. “Just a bit more!”
The edges of her mind blurred. She imagined her and Childe, living their lives peacefully with their two children, watching lovingly as they skipped around in fields of flowers. Aether would walk up, greeting his little nieces and nephews, waving joyfully at Lumine. Her friends—Mona, Xiangling, Zhongli, and countless others—would take turns coming to visit, to see them and their happy little family in their happy little home.
It was such a lovely dream.
Tears ran down her face, and Lumine pushed just one last time.
…
The familiar sound of a newborn’s cries filled the air once more. Lumine fell back, laying down in the dirt, the sight of tangled tree canopies above returning to her vision.
“A girl,” Mona said, carefully wrapping her cape around the baby. She stood, carrying the little girl to Lumine.
BOOM!
The two women snapped their attention back to the fight, watching as Childe’s armor shattered around him. He fell, kneeling, and gasping for breath.
Despite her exhausted body, Lumine scrambled up. “Childe!”
“You’ve grown so weak, Tartaglia,” Scaramouche spat. “You’re out of practice. Too focused on your meaningless family,” he mocked.
“Run,” Childe gasped out weakly to Lumine.
Scaramouche slammed his foot into Childe’s head, cackling as the Eleventh Harbinger fell down.
Something stirred in Lumine’s body.
“I think,” Scaramouche said, turning to Lumine, “I’m going to kill your children first. Right in front of you. How does that sound?”
Something old, ancient—something she hadn’t felt in a long, long time.
“Shield everyone,” Lumine said lowly to Mona. In response, Mona gave a small nod, grabbing the two children, and making her way to Childe inconspicuously.
Scaramouche stalked closer to Lumine. “Are you going to try and fight me?” Another cackle. “You’re even weaker than Tartaglia, especially after what you just went through.”
“You threatened my family,” Lumine nearly growled. “You hurt my family.” She raised her arm, materializing her blade. Quicker than before.
“And you’re going to pay for that,” she finished, her veins ignited with ancient energy.
He smirked. “I’d like to see you try.”
There was an overwhelming ringing in Lumine’s ears as she felt the liquid power coarse through her body. The sensation extended through her back, bursting outwards, until...a pair of wings had formed. Her pair of wings.
Her skin was aglow, a golden haze enveloping her, her wings, and her sword.
It was her old power.
Her powers had come back.
“What is the meaning of this?” Scaramouche sneered.
Lumine glanced over at Mona, the two babies in her arms, hovering over Childe, who was stirring awake. A faint blue glow surrounded them—Mona’s barrier.
She turned her attention back to Scaramouche, who was charging up an Electro attack of his own.
“It’s no use,” Lumine said, echoing his words back to him. She leapt up into the air, flying far above him as he cursed below.
She closed her eyes, thinking of her friends, of Aether, her children, her one true love, Childe—her family.
The sword illuminated, crackling with golden arcs of energy. Then, she plunged down.
A sonic boom erupted around her as she landed, acres of dirt and trees uprooting in the explosion. The mountains shook, the clouds parted, and Lumine used the last bit of her energy to blast the dust away.
Laying before her, lifeless, was Scaramouche.
I did it.
She quickly looked around for her family, crying in relief seeing Mona, Childe, and the babies safely protected.
She felt her ancient power drain from her, and she collapsed on her knees as the pain and exhaustion funneled back into her body.
“Lumine!” she heard Childe shout.
“Childe…,” she responded, voice thin.
Then, her vision went black.
* * *
There was the crying of a baby. No, two babies. It sounded so familiar, yet foreign to Lumine.
She was in a black void, looking around for the source of the crying. Whoever they were, she knew they needed her. And she needed to protect them.
Lumine groggily opened her eyes, the black void from her dreams dissipating. Her vision adjusted, and she realized she was laying in her and Childe’s bed, back at their mountain cottage. Muffled through the walls, she heard the crying of her children, and the voice of Childe trying to calm them.
She slowly sat up, the bed creaking under her. At the sound of movement, Mona stirred awake from the corner.
“You’re awake!” she shouted. She went to the door, throwing it open, and yelling, “She’s awake, she’s awake!”
Lumine blinked at her, still rubbing the sleep from her eyes, while Mona came to her side.
“How are you feeling?” her friend asked.
Lumine stretched a bit. “Very sore.”
“Hmph. I would expect so; you really did level that forest.” Mona looked out the window. “After exerting that kind of power, you should most certainly be dead.” She bit her lip. “But I am glad you are not.”
“Thank you, Mona. For all your help,” Lumine said with a small smile.
The astrologist flung her blue hair over her shoulder. “You are very welcome,” she said, returning the smile.
“You never did tell me why you were here of all places.”
“Ah, yes, that.” She folded her arms across her chest. “After our encounter with that Harbinger, I decided to track his movements—just to make sure he wouldn’t cause any more trouble.” She opened her hydromancy chart, looking over the sigils. “As fate would have it, I followed him here, to you.”
The wailing of the newborns drew closer, and Childe appeared in the doorway, two wriggling bundles in his arms.
His hair was rustled, dark bags under his eyes, and his usual pressed attire was wrinkled and disheveled.
Archons, Lumine loved him.
It was obvious to her that while she was knocked out cold, he had been taking care of their newborn children all on his own. Which was probably the furthest thing from easy...
He gave her a smile, tired at the edges, but filled with love all the same—and she gave him the same smile, yearning to embrace him and their new family.
Mona mumbled something about going to observe the sky for a while, and slipped out of the room as Childe sat on the edge of the bed.
Wordlessly, he placed the two babies in Lumine’s arms, and their cries were instantly quelled.
“Now that’s something I haven’t heard in forever,” he sighed. “Silence.”
“I hope it wasn’t unbearable.” She looked down at her babies, gently smoothing their little light hairs. It would never cease to amaze her, the overwhelming love and joy she felt looking at her twins. Looking at their tiny hands, their tiny feet, seeing their little breaths—any anxiety or fears she had felt before disappeared into thin air.
Childe wrapped his arm around Lumine, looking down at their children as well. “The only thing that was unbearable was not having you around,” he said, pressing a kiss to her temple.
Lumine nodded. “I couldn’t imagine doing this without you.” She leaned into Childe’s chest. “I’ll always be around,” she assured.
“And I’ll always be with you,” he answered. “Our little family.”
Lumine smiled, the happiest of tears coming to her eyes.
“Our little family.”

Meet The Parents
Over on The Bog on Discord, there is a cursed Shrek channel. The idea for this fic was encouraged there and, well, 1.5k later, I have so many regrets, this is definitely what I'd call a shrekcident. All I can say is that writing Shrek and Fiona is really really difficult!
@dapandapod, @thecomfortofoldstorries and @fontegagrilledcheese I think you all asked to be tagged when this is up?
Meet The Parents
There had been several letters from back home, suggesting Jaskier return and brings his lovely travelling companion. It was, without a doubt, Jaskier’s mother writing the letters, she had always had a better grasp on courtly things than his father. Truth be told, it was no secret that the Count of Lettenhove absolutely hated ruling and would much rather spend his time out and about. There were several swamps in Lettenhove that he claimed needed his very dedicated attention. The fact Jaskier’s mother went along with him was no surprise. Despite her upbringing, she was quite fond of a swamp or two too.
“It’s another letter,” Jaskier sighed, flicking it into the fire in the inn. “I don’t understand why they are so insistent on me bringing you home. I mean, they’ve never been interested in previous love interests before. Probably because they’ve all held titles and had standards.” Geralt grunted, eyes fixed on the small alchemy set up he had going on the table. It didn’t deter Jaskier as he carried on. “Mother thinks you and father might get on well once you get past the initial shock of meeting.”
“I can’t imagine anyone being over the moon to meet a Witcher. Especially not one that their darling son is fucking.”
“Well, quite. Father had a couple of run ins with Witchers in his youth. Not all of them were pleasant. But I’m sure you can change his mind.” Jaskier hummed to himself as he thought. “Plus Mother was a cursed princess so you might find some common ground with her. And did I mention my uncle? I spent a lot of time with him growing up, he was really patient, letting me learn to walk by clinging to him. Anyway, he and his dragon-”
“Dragon?” Naturally Geralt perked up at that. “You should have started with that. We’re going to Lettenhove.”
Naturally Geralt had assumed the worst. As if anyone related to Jaskier would be able to keep a dragon against her will. His family was just too nice! But Geralt would learn that fact for himself in a few short weeks when they arrived at Jaskier’s ancestral castle. It was a castle, not a mansion, well kept, if a little more shabby than most. There were overgrown bushes around it and Geralt could have sworn the small of a sulphuric swamp drifted on the winds. They marched up the stairs, everything eerily quiet until the door burst open to reveal two menacing figures.
“Ogres!” Geralt shoved Jaskier behind himself, a snarl on his lips and ready to fight. “I believe this is the Count and Countess of Lettenhove’ residence. What are you doing here?”
“Witcher!” The male ogre spat. “Nothing good has ever come of your kind. You’re not making us move.”
From behind Geralt, Jaskier sprang forwards. “Mother! Father!” He embraced the ogres before being almost bowled over by a donkey. “Uncle!”
“You call this a greeting? This is how you say hello to your favourite uncle? What have I got to do before I get a hug from my favourite nephew?” The donkey looked to the side where the ogres were still staring and turned to see what the issue was. “That’s a Witcher. Oh, that’s your Witcher! That’s a nice Witcher.”
That seemed to pull Jaskier back into the moment and he stood up, clearing his throat. “Right, Mother, Father, Uncle, this is Geralt of Rivia. Geralt, my family.”
Vesemir would be so ashamed if he ever found out how Geralt reacted. All the years spent drilling manners into Geralt’s head were for naught.
“How?!”
“Well,” the donkey said into the stunned silence, “when one ogre loves another ogre and they’re into experimenting with potions-”
“Donkey!” Jaskier’s parents cried in unison before his mother continued. “Please excuse Donkey. I’m Fiona, this is Shrek. And to answer your question, ogres and humans had different anatomy. We got curious, had potions to change temporarily and, well, Jaskier happened during those three days.”
It was Jaskier’s turn to hiss, “Mother! Please don’t tell Geralt about your kinky sex lives.”
“Yes, Eskel told me about ogre anatomy and the differences in rather too much detail,” Geralt grumbled.
“Eskel fucked an ogre?”
“It was an orgy actually - though he insisted on calling it an ogre-y. Said he couldn’t get the mud from the swamp out of certain places for over a week.”
As far as first impressions went, Geralt didn’t think he could have done any worse. But he was being ushered in all the same, Donkey already chattering away about the inane things that had happened since Jaskier last visited. It left Geralt in the rather silent company of Shrek while Fiona led the way.
“Dinner’s at seven,” Shrek gritted out and Geralt hummed in acknowledgement which garnered a grunt in reply.
“Oh my word, you’re marrying your father,” Donkey cried at Jaskier, head snapping to look between Shrek’s retreating back and Geralt standing in the hallway as Fiona opened a door.
“Don’t mind him-” Whatever else she was saying went over Geralt’s head because he caught up with Donkey’s words. Just what was that about marrying?!
They stepped into the room and Jaskier let out a wail of anguish. “Mother! Two beds, really?”
“Just be glad Shrek let you even share a room. But I couldn’t talk him out of having Mirror on the wall.”
“Hello,” the enchanted mirror called. “Please don’t rearrange the room or do anything untoward, I really rather wouldn’t see those kinds of things.”
Geralt closed his eyes and took a few steadying breaths. This was fine, he could do this, there was a dragon somewhere around and he was duty bound to make sure she was free. He regretted such a decision by the evening. There was indeed a dragon who lived at the castle but she refused to take a human form, far too happy and, of all things, in love with Donkey, enough to have a clutch with him Dragon-Donkey babies were terrifying, Geralt had ascertained, menaces, taking their temperament from their father while their mother gifted them with wings and the ability to breathe fire. Suddenly, Geralt understood why there were never any contracts in the area. The locals befriended every creature, monster and anything in between. And any they couldn’t? Well, ogres and dragons could easily keep things in check.
Once the shock of it all had worn off, Geralt could actually focus on eating. Other than Jaskier, there seemed to be no one who cared for things like utensils.
“Please, Mother, Father, at least try to have some manners?” Jaskier looked pleadingly at his parents. His only response was Fiona letting out quite the impressive belch before high fiving Shrek.
The sound of small, pattering feet caught Geralt’s attention. He looked at Shrek and Fiona before trying to find the source of the sound. This seemed like the kind of company that would appreciate his party trick with a fork. A hand around his wrist stopped him.
“Not the Three Blind Mice. They’re friends.”
Almost disappointed, Geralt settled back to finish his surprisingly hearty meal. It wasn’t the usual fair of courts, this was more about being filling and warm rather than showing off all the money that went into making tiny portions full of expensive spices. However, it certainly helped set Geralt at ease.
“So, when’s the wedding?” The small amount of peace was shattered by Shrek asking around a mouthful. It had Jaskier shrieking while the rest of his family watched him, frozen in place but not exactly surprised. More like they were patiently waiting for him to be done. Shrek shrugged. “I thought you were bringing your Witcher home to get married. Isn’t that how it usually goes in fairytales?”
“That’s only princes and princesses,” Donkey cut in. “You have a viscount. They don’t have to get married. Unless…?”
“I’m not proposing,” Geralt blurted out. There was a collective groaning sigh from the table, some of it relief, some of it disappointment and Geralt didn’t know just how offended he should be. He didn’t expect Jaskier to loudly but delicately put his cutlery onto his plate to make in clink pointedly.
“Good. Because I wanted to be the one to propose. On my own terms. In my own time. Mother, do you still have the ring? I think I will take it with us. Might eventually use it.”
Donkey gasped. “Not the One Ring?”
“No!” Jaskier sounded exasperated. “We all know what happened to cousin Gollum with that one. I don’t have any wishes to lose my hair because of that. I meant Grandmother’s ring. I doubt Grandfather’s would be very useful.” He turned to Geralt. “Grandfather was turned into a frog. His ring is rather tiny as a result.”
Of course Jaskier had ogres for parents and a frog for a grandfather. He still took after his uncle the most by the sounds of things. Given how Donkey hadn’t stopped making noises, whether it was humming or popping his lips, it was incessant. Geralt felt he now understood Jaskier a whole lot better. And, when the time came, if Jaskier did offer him a ring, Geralt had zero reservations about the knowledge that he would say yes. But the wedding was going to be at Kaer Morhen, he was going to have to insist on that.

Out Of Time ~ 136
MASTERLIST
< previous chapter
Word Count: 2,000ish
Summary: The pregnancy continues. Y/N spends time with Steve. (Read the note at the end of the chapter.)
Warning: car accident
Week 22 was full of compliments from Tony about how Y/N had never looked more beautiful. Her stomach began to get dry and irritated. This led to Tony spending a lot of time rubbing lotion on the baby bump while talking to Morgan.
Week 23 came with worsening symptoms: leg cramps, pregnancy brain, backaches, constipation, and headaches. Y/N was very grateful that Tony was a constant and so very caring. She honestly didn’t know what she would have done without him.
Weeks 24 and 25: Y/N’s sex drive had died, which disappointed the both of them. Tony knew and respected Y/N to know not to push. Her hands also began tingling, which apparently was normal.
Week 26: sleep was definitely not Y/N’s friend. Leg cramps, frequent urination, anxiety, and Morgan’s kicking made it nearly impossible. Tony felt awful, unable to find anyway for Y/N to get rest. A few times, late night drives worked or Tony taking to the bump, but that was few and far between. This left Y/N exhausted and crabby.
Week 27 began with an exhausted Y/N and an intensely worried Tony. They were in the city for Tony to go to a few Stark Industry meetings and so that Y/N could spend some time with Steve.
“Are you sure you’re going to be okay down here alone until Rogers comes and picks you up?” Tony was worrying over Y/N. But he was also worried that, if he was any later to the meeting, Pepper would literally murder him.
“I’ll be fine,” Y/N replied, swatting away Tony from the chair she was in. “I love you. Now go.”
Tony pecked her lips. “Love you girls too.” He started hurrying away. “Make sure to take it easy! Let me know if you need anything!”
“Yeah, yeah,” Y/N muttered, waving at Tony.
As Y/N tried to find a comfortable position in the chair, she could feel something was off. Looking around, no one appeared off. She checked around a few more times before just chalking it up to that half the world had disappeared. Steve arrived lot long later and went inside to meet her.
“Hey, Y/N/N,” he greeted with a smile. “Wow.” He checked her over. “That baby’s really growing.”
“She is,” Y/N responded, smiling softly as she rubbed her belly. “Somedays I can’t believe it and others I just want her out.”
Steve reached his hands out to help his sister out of the chair. She put her hands in his. “My favorite niece giving my sister trouble?”
“Your favorite niece doesn’t let me sleep.” Steve pulled her up, keeping a hold of her while she tried to balance. “It’s kind of getting on my nerves.”
“Maybe her uncle can talk some sense into her today.”
“Please, she’s stopped listening to her father.”
Steve led her out and helped her into the car. Getting in himself, he began the drive to Brooklyn.
“So, I was thinking that we could eat lunch at this diner that’s opened back up in Brooklyn,” Steve suggested. “Then maybe visit the cemetery, visit the parents and AJ?”
“That all sounds wonderful, Stevie,” Y/N responded. “Morgan makes me hungry all the time, so sorry if I spend all your money.”
“Whatever makes my niece, and my sister, happy.”
~~~
Y/N was so picky yet ordered most of the menu. Steve ordered one small thing, thinking to himself that he’d finish up whatever Y/N didn’t. As they waited for their food, Y/N couldn’t help but feel something was off again. She looked around again. Y/N could tell that the other people in there were trying not to stare at the former Avengers, trying not to glare. Studying her surroundings like she was taught, her fingers were anxiously tapping against the table.
“Hey,” Steve called out to her. “You okay?”
“Yeah Yeah, I’m fine,” Y/N said, swallowing. “It’s just… People hate us. And I don’t blame them. We didn’t protect them like we always sworn to do.”
“Y/N,” Steve reached across and grabbed her hand. “We can’t control them and their thoughts and actions. Only our own.”
“And if they don’t move on?”
Steve sighed. “Then we don’t either.”
~~~
“So, how’s wedding planning coming?” Steve asked once the food arrived.
“Currently, it’s not moving much,” Y/N answered. “I just am exhausted all the time and I can’t even think about trying on a dress right now. I’ve mainly just created several Pinterest boards and such.”
“Well, you two are not in any rush, especially since you’re waiting for little Mo to come.”
“Little Mo?” Y/N giggled. “Is that what you’re going to call her?”
“I figured that, as the uncle, I needed a nickname for my niece.”
“You and Tony can’t just wait for her to come?”
“But it’s still too long of a wait. Like, how many more weeks?”
“I’m week 27 currently, so… I think I technically have 15 more weeks. Ugh, that’s too long! Don’t get me wrong, I have loved growing my daughter inside of me, but I’m tired of it and just want her here.”
“She’ll be here so enough and causing all sorts of problems then too.”
“I guess you’re right… She’s not going to let me sleep for years.”
“Good thing you won’t be doing this alone. You have Tony, Happy, Rhodey, Nat, Pepper, and, like always, you’ll have me.”
“Thanks Stevie. Means a lot.”
~~~
“I bought some flowers, they’re at my place,” Steve stated as they drove away from the diner. “Can we stop there and I can run in and grab them?”
“Of course, Stevie,” Y/N answered. “You mind if I just stay in the car? I’m getting tired.”
“It’s no problem. I’ll be quick.”
“It’s too bad though. I’ve never seen your new place.”
“And I haven’t seen yours.”
“I’ll convince Tony and we’ll have you over soon. Or I’ll convince him to leave and sneak you over. That probably won’t happen until Morgan’s here though. He barely let me do this.”
“He’s just scared and he cares. It’s who Tony is.”
“Yeah, I know. It’s one of the reasons why I love him.”
“I am happy for you. Even after all that’s happened.”
“Thanks, Stevie. I hope that one day you can find something that makes you happy as well.”
Steve shot a tight-lipped smile at his sister before pulling off to the side and parking. He rolled down the windows a bit, pulled out his keys, and opened his door.
“I won’t be long,” he said, heading out the door.
“And I’ll just me here,” Y/N responded.
She sighed, leaning back the seat. Taking off her seatbelt, Y/N closed her eyes and rubbed her baby bump. She was so tired and just wanted to rest, though nothing was allowing her to. Then again, Y/N felt like something was off. Her eyes opened and she began to scan the area. Something was not right, and hadn’t been all day. Sitting up straighter, as much as she could, her breath started quickening. Not able to see anything in front of her, Y/N checked the review mirror. She gasped just before a black suv came barreling into Steve’s car.
Y/N was thrown into the dashboard, causing her to cry out. Steve’s car crashed into the car in front of it. The black suv backed up slightly before ramming into Steve’s car again. This time Y/N’s head it the windshield, cracking it. She screamed.
“P-Pl-Please!” She screamed. “My baby!”
As the black suv backed up again, another one barreled in from the side. This crashed Steve’s car into a lamppost. The window next to Y/N shattered all over her. Her vision was fuzzy from her head’s impact with the windshield and she could tell she had begun bleeding in placed because of the shattered windows.
“Because of you, my family is gone!” She heard someone shout from outside the car. “Because of you have the world is gone!”
“Please! Stop!” Y/N screamed. “Please! I’m pregnant!”
“I’m sure others were as well when they turned to ash!”
Tears were soaking Y/N’s cheeks as she tired to get out of the car. But her door was crushed into the lamppost. Her heart and head were pounding as both cars came at her again. She screamed in agony as something impaled her leg.
“More of you should have died after failing to protect us!” The voice outside the car continued.
The black suv to her side rammed into Steve’s car again, effectively knocking her out cold.
~~~
Steve was whistling as he hurried down the stairs with the flowers. There were two boutiques, one for his parents and one for his nephew. As he exited his building, he froze. His car was totaled and two black suv’s were speeding away.
“Y/N,” he gasped. “Y/N!”
He ran to the car. Y/N was clearly unconscious, leaning against her crushed door. Steve quickly looked over her. She was bleeding, everywhere. Which was terrifying him. Looking for a way to get his sister out, he realized her door was crushed shut and stuck because of the lamppost.
“Y/N, Y/N,” Steve called. “Please answer me. Wake up and answer me.”
When he didn’t get a response, he began to tear things off the car. He needed to get to Y/N, needed to get her out of there before it was too late.
“Mr. Rogers!” An old woman came rushing out of no where. “I’ve called 911! They’re on their way.”
“Thank you, ma’am.” He ripped away the back door, finally.
“They said to wait for them to get her out.”
“Can’t do that. She’s my sister and she’s pregnant.” The sirens were then heard coming towards them.
“Please, Mr. Rogers, they’re almost here. You don’t know what damage you can cause.”
Huffing Steve reached through the shattered window to touch Y/N’s skin. “Stay with me, Y/N. Stay with me.”
~~~
“Where is Y/N?! WHERE IS SHE?!” Steve was sure that Tony’s panic could be heard throughout the whole city. Steve was sitting in the waiting room, head in his hands, as Tony, Happy, and Pepper came running in. “Rogers! Where is Y/N?”
Steve looked up, revealing his puffy red eyes and tear stained cheeks. “She’s—Y/N’s in surgery,” he replied, voice breaking.
“What?! How is she? How’s the baby?”
“She’s— they— I’m so sorry, Tony…”
“Rogers,” Tony growled. “Tell me what—“
“Mr. Stark,” a man called, coming out in scrubs. “I was told you’d arrived. I’m one of the doctors on your fiancé’s case.”
“How is she?” Tony turned to the doctor. “How’s the baby?”
“I’m afraid Miss Rogers was brought in with serious injuries. She was bleeding, quite a lot, and had a serious head injury. The baby was also in clear distress.”
“Clear distress?”
“We had to do an emergency c-section to deliver your baby. She’s currently in surgery as well.” Tony stumbled back, Happy steadying him. “They’re both in critical condition and still have quite a few hours of surgery ahead of us. I’ll keep you updated.”
“Thank you,” Pepper said, as the doctor left.
“Tony, let’s sit you down,” Happy said, guiding Tony down into a seat across from Steve.
“What… happened…?” Tony panted. “I thought you were with her?”
“I needed to grab something, Tony,” Steve responded, clearly feeling all the guilt. “I didn’t think that it would be an issue… I came down from my apartment to see my car completely wrecked against the car in front of it and the lamppost beside it… two black suv’s were speeding away. I didn’t get a good look at them.”
“I can’t— I can’t lose them…”
“I know.”
“If I do… I’m blaming you.”
“Don’t worry, Tony. I’m already blaming myself.”
I leave for Disney World this week. It is the last big family vacation that I will be on for a while. Because of that, I will not be on tumblr March 19th through March 24th. I will actually be deleting the app so that it’s not a distraction.
Most likely, nothing will be posted during that time. If something is, it will have been queued up. Things that are posted while I’m out of town will not have tag lists attached. I will put this note in all the fic posts until then.
So do not come at me for spending time with my family instead of including the tag list. (I say that knowing that people won’t care and still come at me…. be respectful and get over yourself.)
Check out the 2 ending chapter titles and possible banners here.
Also, I will be taking all of April off for job hunting and such. Please be kind and understanding. This is important to me.
If you want to be added to the tag list, please dm me or send in an ask.
The Things You Give Part 17
Steven Hyde x Reader
Happy Friday guys! I can’t believe this story has been going on this long lol I didn’t think it would get this far. But here we are! Let me know what you think and if you’d like to be added to the tagslist, please let me know and I’d be more than happy to add you :) I’m not too sure how much longer this is going go tbh. I don’t want it go on for too long but I also have quite a bit to still put in, so it might just be be longer chapters. Who knows. Let me know what you think in the comments! Plus, I love hearing from you all. Enjoy the chapter!
“So, have you heard from Hyde?” Donna asked y/n over the phone.
“No,” she replied glumly. “It’s been three days. He hasn’t come home and I’ve had to tell my parents that he took a few days to go be with his dad in Milwaukee.”
“What about Eric?”
“He’s still acting weird,” Y/n answered, sighing into the phone. “He barley looks at me and doesn’t even talk to me. And if he does, it’s short and kind of awkward. He can’t even make eye contact with me.”
“Yeah,” Donna said absentmindedly. “He isn’t even talking to me. And I’m his girlfriend!”
“Well, to be fair, you are in California visiting your mom.”
“There’s still the phone!”
“Fair point,” Y/n said and turned onto her back as she laid on her bed. “I still haven’t told my parents. I’m so scared.”
“Hyde is too.”
“Clearly or else he’d be here.” Y/n sighed and rubbed her tired eyes. She hadn’t gotten enough sleep these last few days, tossing and turning all night.
“Are you okay though?” Donna asked, concern laced in her voice.
“Honestly? No. But I don’t have a choice but to be. I’m going to have a baby and I have to be strong for it. No matter how hard it may be.”
“You are so strong,” Donna said and wished she could y/n a hug. “You’re going to make it through this. This won’t last forever.”
“God, I hope so.”
“Hey, it’s going to be okay. If you ever need a place to stay, you can stay over at my place.”
“Thank you, Donna. I don’t know what I’d do without you.”
“Yeah, I know,” Donna joked making y/n laugh. “You’re my best friend. That’s what they do.”
“When do you get back?”
“Tomorrow. You want to come and get me from the airport?”
“I’d love that,” Y/n answered. “We can go grab some food while we’re at it. I’ve been throwing up so much that I feel like I can eat a whole restaurant.”
Donna chuckled. “Pregnancy will do that to you.”
Y/n smiled. “You have no idea.”
“Alright, well, I’m going to go. My mom wants to take me to the beach and out to eat before I leave.”
“Okay, well you have fun.”
“I will. I’ll see you tomorrow.”
“See you tomorrow.”
Y/n hung up the phone and stared at the ceiling for a while. Tears threatened to spill down the side of her face, but she forced them down. Hyde was coming back, she knew him. She knew his heart. He wouldn’t abandon them like the man he thought was his father did. He loved her. Right?
“ Y/n, honey?” Kitty called from down the hall, snapping Y/n out of her thoughts. “ Y/n, dinner is ready!”
“Ok, I’ll be down in a minute, Mom,” she replied and sat up from her bed. She took a quick glance in the mirror, checking out her baby bump. She sighed in relief when she saw she wasn’t showing yet. “Soon, though,” she whispered to herself as she walked out her room.
She walked in the kitchen to be greeted by everyone, except for Steven.
“So, have either of you heard from Steven?” Kitty asked the twins as she set down the chicken.
“Who cares? He’s out of the house,” Laurie commented.
“Laurie, hush,” Kitty said sternly.
“No, I have not heard from him,” Y/n said sourly. “What about you Eric?”
“Yeah, he called,” Eric said, not looking up from his plate. “He said he’ll be back tomorrow night.”
“Oh, good!” Kitty smiled and sat down with her family.
“Yeah, great,” Laurie deadpanned, earning an elbow to the ribs from Y/n.
“Why don’t you like him?” she asked.
“Because he mooches off of mom and daddy,” she replied.
“Wh—” Y/n started, confused. “So do you!”
“No, I don’t,” she argued. “All I’m saying is that Mom and Dad work really hard around here and nothing here is cheap.”
“Except you,” Eric quipped, earning a laugh from his twin.
Laurie rolled her eyes, feeling agitated. “Believe me, I’m not cheap.”
“Fine, free. Whatever,” the twins said together and then looked at each other before laughing. If Y/n were being honest, she was happy that they were laughing together at something. Even though that something was their older sister. Even if Y/n wasn’t pregnant she still gets a kick out of it.
“Okay, that’s enough you three,” Red said, unamused.
Y/n and Eric were still giggling as they turned back to their plates. As Y/n looked down at the plate in front of her, chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans, and rolls, she couldn’t help but scrunch up her nose. Her heightened senses made everything smell so gross now and it was driving her crazy.
“What’s the matter?” Kitty asked, noticing her daughter’s distain towards the food. “Is something wrong with my chicken?”
Y/n’s eyes snapped up to meet her mother’s. “No, no! Not at all, just…uh…not sure if I’m feeling chicken tonight.”
“But you love chicken,” Kitty said, almost sad.
Y/n saw her mom’s sad eyes and panicked. “No, no it’s good! See.” She shoved a leg into her mouth and felt the juices drip down her chin
She wanted to gag, but forced herself not to. Not now, kid.
Y/n hummed in satisfaction as she swallowed the chicken, earning a smile from her mother. “So good.”
“Huh,” Laurie said, pouting in thought. “Why does that look and sound familiar?”
“Maybe because it’s usually you—” Eric started before Kitty cut him off, screaming.
“Eric, if you want to live to see your grand-children, you better not finish that sentence,” she warned. Eric looked over to Red who was giving him a hard stare.
Eric quickly looked down at his plate and was quiet for the rest of the evening.
--Time Skip—
Y/n found her head in the toilet that night, emptying the contents of her stomach of the evening’s meal into the toilet. She was trying hard to be discreet, but that showed to be a failure when Eric knocked on the door.
“ Y/n? Are you okay?”
“What do you want—” Her head immediately went back into the toilet.
Eric let himself in and saw his sister in her weakened and vulnerable state. He gathered her hair in his hands and rubbed her back. “Are you okay? What’s going on?”
“Mom’s chicken didn’t agree with me,” she whined, wiping the drool from her mouth with a piece of toilet paper. “Or the baby didn’t agree with the chicken.”
“God, I’m sorry,” Eric sympathized. “Look, we need to talk, but first, maybe you should brush your teeth.”
“I feel like we’ve been having a lot of talks lately,” Y/n tried to joke, but only came off as a whimper and she could feel her stomach churning again. She turned her face into the toilet once again and let out a long, painful, retched noise. “This kid is going to kill me,” she groaned.
Eric waited until Y/n was finished vomiting before helping her up and taking her to her room. “Are you okay? Do you need anything?”
“Well to stop vomiting would be nice, but what I really need is to know where Hyde is,” she said, staring at her brother. “When were you going to tell me that he called? Why didn’t he want to talk to me?”
“That’s what I wanted to talk to you about,” he said and sat at her desk chair. “This isn’t easy for any of us, you know this.”
“Oh, I’m so sorry that you have to carry the burden of mine and Hyde’s baby,” Y/n said, rolling his eyes.
Eric sighed frustratingly. “ Y/n, focus will you?”
She shut her mouth and looked at Eric nervously.
“He’s coming back,” he started. “He just needed a few days to think. He even got a hold of his dad in Milwaukee and spoke to him, but he’s not sure how he’s supposed to handle this. I didn’t want to tell you because I knew you would be upset. He wanted to talk to you, but he said he needs to talk to you face to face.”
Tears started to burn her eyes. “I don’t know what I’m going to do, Eric,” she croaked. “I’ve been alone in this since he left. The only person who was there for me was Donna and Jackie. And Donna has been gone in California for a few days while Jackie has been…well, being Jackie. The father of my child disappeared and my own brother wouldn’t even speak to me. Do you have any idea how crushing it is to be alone in this?”
“See, that’s the thing, you’re not alone!” Eric said. “Regardless of how I or Mom and Dad feel, you’re still going to have help raising this baby. Whether I like it or not, I’m going to be the uncle to my best friend’s and twin sister’s baby. Trust me, this isn’t what I thought would happen at all, but it did. And I came to realize that there is no point in being mad at you when it’s already done. I want to be here for you and Hyde. This is going to be my niece or nephew and…I don’t know, it’s kind of growing on me.”
Tears continued to flow down Y/n’s face. “Thank you, Eric. That means so much.”
Confused, Eric reached out to her and pulled her in. “I’m sorry. Did I say something wrong?”
“No,” she sniffed and hiccupped. “Just pregnancy hormones.”
“And we’re all going to have to deal with this for eight more months. Yayyy,” Eric mused.
Y/n laughed and sat up. She stared down at her lap for a minute while Eric studied her. Something was on her mind and he knew it. “Talk to me.”
She looked back up and wiped at her eyes. “Is Hyde going to leave me to raise this baby by myself?”
“What? No, of course not,” Eric said gently. “Look, he loves you. He’s told me so. I don’t see him leaving. He knows if he does anymore screw ups, I’m going to kick his ass.”
“Your leg would break midair before it could,” Y/n joked earning a laugh from Eric.
“Yeah, probably,” he joked.
“I feel like I’ve asked this more than I should, but…are we good?”
Eric nodded, giving her a half smile. “Yeah, we’re good.”
Y/n smiled at her twin. “So, uh, how do you think Dad is going to take it?”
“Well,” he said, thinking. “I’ve come to two possibilities. One, he kills you and Hyde. Or two, he’ll get so mad, his head will explode.”
Y/n laughed once again, the weight on her shoulders lifting a little.
--Time Skip—
The next night, Y/n and the gang sat in the basement with Hyde still missing.
After Y/n had picked up Donna, they had picked up burgers for everyone.
“Thanks for dinner, Y/n,” Kelso said.
“No problem,” she answered with a mouthful of fries. “I’ve been craving burgers and thought I could get everyone some, so you all don’t feel left out.”
“Well, you should get pregnant more often,” Kelso laughed into his burger.
Y/n gave him a ‘are you dumb’ look. “I think I’m going to pass on that.”
“So, Eric,” Kelso continued, licking his fingers. “Now that we’re past the awkward stage about Y/n’s pregnancy, all I gotta say is BURN!”
The group laughed, but Eric’s face remained stoic. “Hilarious.”
“C’mon, Eric, you’re going to be an uncle,” Jackie chimed in. “Aren’t you excited?”
“Well, kind of actually,” he answered honestly.
“Wait, really?” Y/n asked in surprised, mouth full of food.
“Yeah, but I’m not excited what’s going to happen when Dad finds out.”
“Yeah, we’re going to hear on the news that the Forman’s house blew up,” Fez joked.
“Make sure we’re all in our basements, duck and cover,” Donna said, laughing with the group.
“You guys are hilarious,” Y/n deadpanned and took a sip of her milkshake.
“I’d like to think we are,” Fez said.
Y/n chuckled as she took a bite of her burger. “It’s all fun and games until a father with anger issues explodes.”
“I’m going to have to disappear for a few days, or weeks…or years,” Eric said, staring in the distance. “You know what, I’ll just start packing for Mexico now.”
“Shut up, Eric. Dad’s not going to blame you.”
“Oh really?” Eric asked, setting aside his finished food. “When you failed your geometry test sophomore year, he asked me why I didn’t help you study. When I told I didn’t pass the test either, he asked why I didn’t help you cheat.” He shook his head.
“Well, I don’t think a geometry test is equivalent to a baby,” Y/n responded. “And besides, I don’t think you wanted to be there to stop me from getting pregnant.”
“Yeah, thanks for that.” Eric scrunched his face in disgust while everyone agreed how gross and creepy that would be.
“Anyway,” Donna said, clearing her throat. “Have you thought about what you want to have?”
“Not really,” Y/n replied and finished off her burger. “I’ll love them whether they’re a boy or a girl.”
“Do you think you’ll have twins since you’re one?” Jackie asked.
“Nah,” she replied. “It’s like, less than one percent chance of having twins. I highly doubt it.”
“Well, if you have a girl, you should name her Jackie,” Jackie said. “If it’s a boy, Jack.”
“You hate it when I call you Jack,” Y/n pointed out.
“Yeah, but if it’s a baby named after me, I can deal with it,” she said and flipped her hair.
Y/n rolled her eyes. “I’m not naming my baby after you.”
“Why not?!”
“Because I don’t need that hanging over my head!” Y/n responded and took the last bite of her burger. “We’re going to name the baby something completely different.”
“Like what?” Fez asked.
“I don’t know,” Y/n shrugged. “I’m only four weeks.”
“When’s your doctor’s appointment?” Eric asked.
“In two weeks,” Y/n answered. “They’re going to see if they can detect a heartbeat.”
“Yeah, they have this really cool machine now where they can use the ultrasound to see and hear the baby’s heartbeat. It’s pretty cool,” Donna said. “Kelso, did they use that with Brooke’s pregnancy?”
“Yeah, it was really cool,” Kelso responded and threw away his trash. “It’s really beautiful to see your baby like that.”
“Didn’t they give you a picture?” Y/n asked.
“Yes. Brooke still has it on her fridge.”
“How exciting!” Jackie said.
“Yeah,” Y/n trailed off.
“What?” Fez asked.
“Well, seeing my baby, it’s going to make it real,” she whispered.
“Well, it already is,” Donna said. “But it’s going to be okay.”
She was rubbing a comforting hand on Y/n’s shoulder when the door swung open. Y/n turned to see Hyde standing there with the same clothes he wore three days prior. She wanted to run into his arms and kiss him, but she also wanted to punch him in the face.
“Hey,” he greeted her, rather awkwardly.
“Hey,” she replied gravely.
“Where the hell have you been?” Donna asked him.
“I was just driving around. Went up to Milwaukee to see my dad.”
“Where did you sleep?” Fez asked.
“Either in my car or a motel.”
Y/n nodded and looked down at her hands. Her stomach knotting up and tears burning the back of her eyes.
“Look, Y/n, we need to talk—”
“You left me,” she snapped. “You promised you wouldn’t, but you did.”
“I didn’t leave you,” he argued. “I just needed some time to think.”
Y/n stood to face him. “You were gone for three days! You didn’t even call to speak to me. You spoke to Eric instead!”
“I know, but please listen to me—can you hang on a second?” He turned his attention to the group. “Would you guys get out of here?”
The group turned and walked away, but only a few feet and huddled in the corner by the stairs so they could listen. Y/n rolled her eyes and turned back to Steven.
“ Y/n, please believe me when I say I really wanted to talk to you, but I needed to see you first.”
“Okay,” she said and crossed her arms. “Go ahead. Talk.”
Hyde exhaled and scratched the back of his head. “I…I panicked, okay? This was the last thing I was expecting.”
“And I was?!” Y/n asked, voice rising. “See, here’s the difference between you and me: if I ran like you did, I wouldn’t be able to run away from my problems. Because wherever I go, it goes. I can’t outrun this problem, Steven. Even if I wanted to. But you did and when I needed you the most, you weren’t here!”
“I know. I know I messed up, but that’s why I’m here. I l—” he looked at the group who awkwardly (and not subtly) looked away in other directions, making it look like they weren’t listening. “Look, I’m sorry, okay? It’s a lot to take in. We’re barley out of high school and I get hit with, ‘You’re going to be a father.’ God, I can’t believe this is happening. How is this happening?” He turned away from her, hands rubbing his eyes.
“Well, it is,” Y/n said. “I’m just as scared as you, but I didn’t run away.”
“I’m sorry, okay? I didn’t mean to be gone as long as I was. I just needed to think of what I was going to do. I don’t know what I’m going to do,” he said. “I didn’t have a dad growing up. The only one I knew was Bud and he ran out on me. I’m not sure I even know how to be one. What if I end up being just like him? I can’t do that to you.”
“Okay, guys, I think we should go,” Donna whispered once she realized where this conversation was heading. “We’ll talk to them later.”
“But I wanna listen,” Kelso whined, but hissed when Jackie pinched his nipple. “Damn, Jackie!”
“Let’s go, Michael,” she said sternly.
The group retreated upstairs, leaving Y/n and Hyde alone in the basement. Hyde sunk down onto the coffee table and put his head in his hands. Y/n sat down next him and rubbed a comforting hand on his back.
“Well, you’re not going to be like Bud.”
“How do you know that?”
“Because you left out someone who did become a father to you: Red. He stuck around and continued to help you even when you pissed him off. He’ll never say it, but he loves you. And if anything, you’ll be like him.”
“He’s not going to when he finds out what I did to you.”
Y/n made a face at him. “You knocked me up, you didn’t kill me.”
“What are we going to do?” he asked. “I don’t know,” she responded. “I don’t know about you, but I’m terrified.”
“You have no idea. My job doesn’t pay me enough to support you and a kid. I don’t even think I get benefits. Aw, crap…should we just get married?”
Y/n made a face at him. “’Aw, crap. Should we just get married?’ Is that how you fix things?”
“How else do you suggest we fix this?” he asked.
“Well, by not getting engaged!” Y/n pointed out and stood up. “You really think us getting married because we’re having a baby is the right answer?”
“Well, what do you suggest?”
“I don’t know, Steven, but I don’t want you to feel like you have to marry me.”
Y/n started pacing the floor while Hyde stared at the wall, desperate to find an answer.
“By the way, I didn’t kiss her,” he piped up after a moment of silence. “She kissed me.”
“I know,” Y/n stopped pacing. “Everyone told me.”
“Good,” he said and sighed. “I was afraid you would think I’d do that to you.”
“You’re a lot of things, Steven, but a cheater isn’t one of them.”
“I hope those are good things,” he chuckled halfheartedly, trying to lighten the mood.
She smiled gently at him. “Most of them are. You’re still a huge pain in the ass though.”
Hyde lifted the corner of his mouth in amusement. “Maybe, I can get a job with W.B.,” he suggested. “He might’ve…already offered me a job.”
“Hey, that’s great!” Y/n said excitedly and sat down next to him.
“I think I might take it.”
“You should,” she encouraged him. “I applied to the state college here, but I think I’m going to apply to the community college and get a part time job.”
“No, let me worry about the bills,” he said. “I’m the man, that’s what I’m supposed to do.”
She squinted at him. “This isn’t twenty years ago. I can work and help with the bills.”
“It’s okay, really.” He turned and grabbed her hands. “Let me work and take care of the bills while you go to school.”
“Okay, well, we’re going to have to figure out where to live. I’m pretty sure my parents don’t want a baby living in the house.”
“Yeah, we’ll start apartment hunting,” he grunted and stood up.
Y/n watched him pace back and forth; he sighed and rubbed his face. He stopped pacing and looked lost in thought. “Maybe it is with you,” he said suddenly and gently.
“What?”
“Just now when you asked if us getting married was the right answer because we’re having a baby, I’m saying maybe it is. I mean,” he continued. “This is not exactly ideal, but we did talk about settling down before. Maybe, you know, this time is…now?”
Y/n blinked. “Are you…actually asking me to marry you right now?”
“Well…” he drew out, suddenly acting shy. “I guess I am.” He scratched his head.
She shook her head. “Steven, I told you I don’t want you to feel like you have to marry me.”
“See, that’s the thing I don’t,” he answered quickly. “I actually want to.”
She raised her eyebrows. “You do?”
“Yes. I know how I used to feel about marriage, but that was when I thought all women were the same or…like my mom.” Y/n chuckled lightly along with Hyde and he continued. “But, you’ve changed all that. You forced me to see a different picture painted in a whole new light and honestly…it’s refreshing.”
“I feel the same way,” she said, giving him a shy smile.
“I just, uh…I wanted to do this right. You know?”
“Well,” she said quietly, her heart thumping wildly. “You still can.”
“I don’t even have a ring. Not yet at least.”
“It’s okay,” Y/n whispered.
Hyde smiled so sweetly at her before nervously grabbing her hand and getting down on one knee. “I know that nothing about our situation has been easy. We’ve only been together for a short while, but I’ve known you my whole life. I’ve never felt this way about anyone before and for the first time I actually mean it when I say I love a girl and not just saying it to sleep with her.”
Y/n squeezed his hand a little tighter as he continued. “And as much as I used to hate commitment then, you’ve changed me. You make me a better man. If you’ll have me, I promise to stay and do my best to make you happy because you make me happiest that I have ever been.”
Tears pricked the corner of Y/n’s eyes as she smiled widely. She couldn’t believe this was happening because she never thought it would. She remembers when he used to be so against marriage, but here he was voluntarily on one knee, asking her to marry him.
“So, Y/f/n y/m/n Forman, will you marry me?”
Y/n nodded while tears started to run down her face. “Yes,” she whispered.
Hyde smiled brightly at her as she stood up and swiftly brought her face to his. He held onto her tight as he kissed her hard. They relished the feeling of each other’s lips and the emotion they both felt. Hyde found himself surprised that he wasn’t freaking out and Y/n found herself excited.
Their kiss was broken short though as the group came crashing down the stairs.
“ENGAGED?!” They all shouted.
“Were you guys listening this whole time?!” Hyde asked them.
“Duh,” Jackie responded which earned her an elbow to the ribs from Donna. “Ow, Donna! What the hell was that for?”
“Are you guys serious?” Eric asked, ignoring the girls and walked down towards the couple. “Are you really engaged?”
“Are you mad?” Y/n asked.
Eric shook his head. “No, I’m done being mad. I’ve been doing that a lot lately,” he said and chuckled. “If anything I’m just…shocked. Especially with how fast all this has been moving. I never thought in a million years this would happen.” He rubbed his lips with his fingertips, as if lost in thought and sighed. “But, uh, congratulations, guys.”
He brought Hyde in for a hug, patting his back and then brought Y/n in for a tight hug. If anything he was feeling conflicted. Was he mad at them? No, not at all. Was he happy? Yes, of course. But, what he was feeling most of all was…sadness?
Maybe because the group was changing drastically now. Kelso was becoming a police officer and just became a father himself, Donna was working at the radio station and setting goals for herself with feminism, Fez had a steady job working at the DMV, Jackie was…well, he didn’t know what the hell Jackie was doing, and now Hyde and Y/n were not only having a baby, but they were now getting married and he was now going to be working with W.B at an awesome record company. And what was Eric doing? Besides lazing around the house doing absolutely nothing while watching his friends and sister were working to do something amazing with their lives. His year of not doing anything was almost up and while he enjoyed sleeping in and doing nothing all day long, he was starting to see the down side of it all. And it was hitting him hard.
“Are you okay?” Y/n asked him, seeing his face change.
“Yeah,” he lied and plastered on a fake smile. “I’m just thinking of what you’re going to say to Mom and Dad.”
“Yeah, don’t remind me.”
“Oh, Y/n this is so exciting!” Jackie squealed coming down the stairs and interrupting their conversation. Everyone in the group trailed behind her. “I can’t wait to start wedding planning! But first, we need to get you a ring!” She gasped dramatically. “Oh my God, who’s going to be your maid of honor? If it’s not me I’m going to scream.”
Y/n laughed and placed her hands on Jackie’s arms. “Hey, calm down, Jack. It’s not happening yet. I’m just taking it one day at a time.”
“Well, you better tell them soon because it’s going to get harder to hide a baby bump,” Eric said.
“I know. I was actually thinking of telling them tonight,” she said which caused the group to go silent. “What?”
“Should we start planning your funeral now or?” Donna joked.
“Funny,” she deadpanned. “No, I think it will be fine now that Steven and I have a plan.”
Eric nodded and pressed his lips into a thin line. “It was nice knowing you. Both of you.” He gave her a hug which Y/n shrugged off.
“Alright that’s enough,” she said and stepped back. “They can’t be too mad…can they?”
Again, the group went silent, looking at each other; Trying to decide who is the better liar. But no lie could be good enough to determine what was about to happen with Red and Kitty.
Fez stepped forward wearing the most serious expression Y/n has ever seen. “Before you do, I just wanted to say how much I love you guys and how much I’m going to miss you.” He dramatically wrapped his arms around Hyde and start faux sobbing. The group laughed at Fez as Hyde shoved him off.
--Time Skip—
Y/n waited in the basement for another couple hours, working the nerve to go up there and tell her parents. The gang had decided to stay and come up with a plan, but nothing seemed good enough to prepare them for the upcoming explosion known as Red.
“Okay, so here’s the plan,” Y/n said, exhausted. “I tell them, Steven you have the El Camino ready when things go south, Eric have the Vista Cruiser ready in case Dad tries to kill you, and everybody, whatever you do: act dumb. You didn’t know I was pregnant and just run like hell.”
Everybody nodded in compliance as Y/n laid back against the couch. “I should probably go up there now,” she said, her stomach twisting into knots, her head swimming.
“Do you need me to go with you?” Hyde offered.
“No, no, you stay here. If I don’t make it back in,” she responded dramatically. “Please, move on without me. I love you.”
Hyde grabbed her hand. “Hey, don’t talk like that. We will get out of this alive.”
Y/n gave him a single nod. “Okay, here I go.”
“Wait, Y/n,” Kelso said, abruptly stand up and gave her a hug. “Goodbye.”
Y/n gave a theatrical sniff as if she was crying. “Goodbye, Kelso. I’ll miss you the most.”
“Really?” he asked brightly and turned to Hyde as if to say I knew it.
“No,” she deadpanned and pushed him away from her before walking up the stairs, hearing the chuckles fade away as she entered the kitchen.
She saw Kitty sitting at the kitchen table, hunched over scribbling something on a piece of paper.
“Hey mom,” Y/n’s voice wavered, her knees starting to wobble, but she played it off as if nothing was wrong. To hide her nervousness, she opened the fridge and grabbed a soda can. “What cha doin’?”
“Oh, I’m just going over your medical bill,” Kitty replied and Y/n felt her heart drop to her feet. “I see that they ran some extra tests which explains why we have to pay a bit more. Plus, the ambulance ride didn’t help any.”
“Oh, okay. I’ll help pay that back,” she replied and looked around. “So, uh, where’s Dad?”
“Oh, he’s out getting dinner.”
“Oh, okay,” she replied and opened her water, taking a hefty sip. Kitty looked up from the paper and noticed Y/n acting different. In fact, Y/n’s eyes were glossy and she looked like she was about to vomit again at any second.
“ Y/n, honey? What’s wrong?” Kitty asked, concerned.
Y/n’s chin wobbled as she gripped the can tighter. Do it. Do it now! She stared at her mother who had completely abandoned her task and now was staring at her daughter.
Y/n couldn’t find the words. She stood there, like an idiot, or as her father would say, like a dopehead. Her eyes were wide and she could feel cold perspiration beginning to cover her palms.
It’s now or never.
“Mommy,” she said in a small voice. “I need to tell you something.”
My materialist // wanna be part of my tag list?
Anon: omg can you do one ab asking if cal wants to start a family
“Babe! Hurry we are going to be late!”
You were standing at the front door, looking inside of your bag in case you have forgotten anything.
“Y/N, you do know I went to the bathroom five minutes before you were done getting ready, right?” Your husband, Calum, said as he walked up to you.
You had to admit, you married the hottest guy on the planet. How can someone make a pair of jeans with a simple white shirt look so good?!
“But I still beat you at the door, didn’t I?” You asked with a grin that Calum easily reciprocated.
“That you did” He smiled, placing one hand at your side, kissing your template, and whispering in your ear “But that doesn’t mean you can beat me at the car” And with that, he started sprinting towards the driver’s seat.
It amazes you how after almost 7 years of relationship you never got over the honeymoon phase. You have met Calum when both of you were young, reckless, and stupid; and not looking for a relationship. But it only took one look at those brown eyes and you were hooked.
You still remember how he came to you with a lame excuse to talk to you at one of the many parties you used to crash with your best friends.
“You’re not supposed to be here,” He said, and you almost thought he discovered you and was going to call security “I’m pretty sure god will wonder where all of their angels went”
He quickly apologized once he realized the words that fell out of his mouth, but you just stood there giggling at this cute attempt of flirting. And, as they say, the rest was history.
The next couple of years came and went and it almost seemed like you were in some kind of an alternate reality where everything played out as it was supposed to. Yes, of course, there were rocky times, especially when distance came to play, but all those times just made your relationship stronger.
Neither of you knew why, but being together just felt right. Which ultimately came to him proposing one eventful night in August after visiting his parents in Australia. And that then leads to your wedding just a few months later, you still recall that as one of the happiest moments of your life.
That was 3 years ago, and you were proud to say that you got to marry your best friend. Every day felt like a never-ending slumber party with new adventures and dreams to fulfill. And you wouldn’t change it for the world.
You were thinking about it as of now, looking at Calum with a smile as he drove to your cousin’s place to celebrate the birthday of the newest addition to the family: your baby niece.
Going to these kinds of parties became pretty regular for you, given that you came from a really big family and all your cousins were almost the same age as you, so they started popping babies out like it was nothing! And you were so thankful Calum was always happy to come along “I love your family, Angel!” He said “And you have to give it to them, they know how to throw a party”
It was true. If there is something your family doesn’t take lightly is parties. You still get a headache every time you remember the stress of convincing them to do something lowkey for your wedding. And as you parked outside your cousin’s house you wonder how you actually did it.
“Wow,” Said Calum as he looked at all the balloons decorating the front door “They really went all out on this one” He laughed.
“Sabrina is one year old!” You laughed, unbuckling your seatbelt as Calum opened the door for you “She won’t even remember this!”
“Yeah.. but at least Aunt Bridget will get to brag about having real mariachis playing at the party”
“Real maria-?” You asked, but Calum was already trying to hold his laughter as he pointed to a mariachi band getting out of their van “Okay, that is new… We are not even from Mexico!”
“No… but mom went to the wedding of Mr. Gómez’s son and she insisted we hired the same band for little Sab’s birthday” Your cousin answered as she opened the door.
You and Calum hugged your cousin before making your way inside the house. You stood in awe as you walked up the backyard and everything was decorated in different shades of pink and purple. Even the family dog had some sort of ribbon around his collar.
“This looks…” You began
“Like if a vagina exploded?” Calum finished for you. You slapped him in the arm playfully, trying so hard not to laugh along with him and be serious.
Your cousin came back a few moments later to hand each of you a drink and inviting you outside to join the party.
*
The mariachis were actually really good, especially when they made Calum have a dance-off with one of your uncles to the chicken dance song. And the rest of the party was also really fun for kids and adults alike.
Now the sun was starting to set and most of your family members decided it was time to call it a day after so many games and dancing. You and Calum, however, decided to stay a little longer since most of your cousins unofficially agreed to have a ‘family-friendly after-party’
You were sitting next to your cousin as you held her baby in your lap, making her dance along with the music.
“You are good at this,” Your cousin said, looking at you and baby Sabrina.
You laughed “It’s not too hard of a job to entertain a baby” And to prove your point, you started making faces at your niece, who started laughing right away.
“It’s not that! You, my dear, have the touch”
“The touch?” She nodded.
“You have that motherly essence, it’s easy for you to engage with the children - they all love you by the way, which is a fact I’m extremely jealous of - And you just have that capacity of love only a parent can understand. C’mon, don’t tell me you and Calum haven’t thought about having a family?”
You drifted your eyes to find Calum amongst the crowd of adults and children.
He was playing soccer with your older nieces and nephews, laughing as he threw himself to the ground on exaggerated acting as the kids scored goal after goal, laughing at your husband’s antics.
And just like that, it was like an image of your future passing by You and Calum sitting in the backyard with Duke running around with your child, playing all sorts of games with you, swimming in the pool, and eating ice cream. Reading bedtime stories as Calum sang them to sleep, him teaching them how to play different instruments and sports, always encouraging them to follow their dreams and passions… Yes, you could get used to that.
“I- I haven’t thought about it” You finally said with a light blush on your cheeks. You didn’t know if it was because of the question, your daydream, or the way Calum was looking and smiling at you.
*
You couldn’t stop thinking about what your cousin said even when you were already in the car and on your way home with Calum humming along with the songs on the radio.
Once you reached your home you started looking around, thinking of all the places you could share with your potential future family; cooking dinner together at night or watching frozen one thousand times on movie night or creating a playroom just for them so they could have their own space to create whatever comes into their minds and-
“You are really quiet, Angel,” Your husband said, interrupting your train of thought “Is everything alright?”
You pressed your lips together in a tight smile and nodded as he came to hug you from behind, resting his head on your shoulder “Did you have fun with the kids today?” You asked cautiously.
Calum chuckled “Yeah… Matthew almost threw me off at one point, he’s getting good at soccer”
“I hope so! His dad told me he started going to practice cause he wants to be a soccer player and a musician like his uncle Cal” You said, pecking your lips in Calum’s red cheek. You could see that he was slightly embarrassed but in a good way. You wonder if your future children will be like that as well.
Maybe they’ll have his cheeks, or your eyes… oh, please let them have Calum’s curly hair.
You smiled to yourself at the thought of little chubby-cheeked curly-haired heads running around your house. They will be perfect and they will be so loved…
Calum hummed next to your ear, placing a little kiss to the shell of it “I know what’s got you all wrapped up in daydream land” He said, hugging you tighter.
You turned your face to look at him “You do?” He nodded and placed his head on your shoulder again.
“Knew it since I saw you looking at me when I was playing with the kids” He placed a kiss on your cheek and made you turn around completely while still holding you by your waist. You swore you could hear the beating of your heart thundering louder and louder.
“And to be honest, I’ve been thinking about it since the first time I saw you hold a baby”
You blinked at him, confusion written all over your face “What?”
“Well… I knew from the moment I saw you that I wanted to start a family with you. I just confirmed it the day you took me to Matthew’s birthday party to meet your family” He said as a matter-of-factly.
“Yo-you want to start a family with me?” You asked with a flash of hope in your eyes.
Calum smiled at you, his eyes filled with pure adoration “I want to start everything with you, Angel. As long as you let me”
“Do you think we’re ready?”
“I love you, you love me” He said and you nodded with a smile “We’ve been together for 7 years, married for 3; we both have steady jobs, I’m not leaving for tour anytime soon so I’ll be home through every step of the way, we live in a nice house and Duke is more than ready to have a new partner in crime, so… what do you say, love?” Calum said with a cheeky smile.
You wrapped your arms around his neck and pulled him closer into a kiss.
“Let’s do it”
Today I took my 10yo nephew, 4.0, to the Jurassic Quest drive-through dino experience. We had an hour drive each way and he talked my ear off the entire time about minecraft and animal crossing and a few other things and every time he asked “do you want to hear about _____” I got to respond with “Heck YEAH I do!” even though I have no idea what most of what he said even meant (and I DID ask questions so he could explain them). We ate burger king (his pick) in the burger king parking lot and I explained to him that a Road Trip is where you go driving and you don’t really go driving TO a place so much as that you visit places to go driving. He asked if we were on a road trip, and I said we were kind of on a mini road trip, since this was basically a roadside attraction. I also explained the renaissance festival to him and I have a feeling he’s going to want to go to that when it’s safe to do so again. Kid REALLY wants to throw a spear.
His mom was busy cooking and prepping for the family get together this evening, and I could have returned him to her but he still seemed pretty fired up so I asked him if he wanted to do something else that wasn’t Out With People (he hasn’t gotten vaccinated because he can’t, so it’s been rough for him). He asked if he could come play Nintendo Switch at my house, so I called his mom for permission, and then we drove to the nearest random, deserted Gamestop and I let him pick out a game to try (please understand that he was not picking out a game for him to take home, he was picking out one for us to play together at my house, but that he could choose a solo-player game and I would be happy to watch him play it). He explained a bunch of the games to me, and then finally decided that I should have a copy of Let’s Go Eevee so that we could play together but also so he could be my friend online.
He asked to see the mice, and picked up a few of them to see how friendly and cute they were, and played with the baby chickens in there, and I asked if he wanted to give them some cockroaches and I got A Look... I told him “don’t give me that look, you’re standing about a foot away from like a thousand of them, what do you think is in that huge bin right there?” He asked to see what one looked like, and politely declined touching them but enjoyed watching me give treats to the chickens. I then packed him up one of the baby Marisa snails and two male guppies for his fish tank, both descended from his original two red-tailed guppies he gave to me over a year ago. I got several “we should do this more often”s on the drive back to his house, and overall just had a really good, chill day.
