No. I can confirm that what Sam said is true. I was there. I am always there. Also, I put the rest of your cereal to your washing machine. They have been in the cupboard for a while now, I thought they were getting quite dusty and needed cleaning.

I just had the most delightful date with the most gorgeous theologist in Desert Bluffs Too!!! We had a lovely dinner at my house (some eyeball salad, mushed tarantulas and fried human fingers), watched some movies and of course made sure to serve our great Smiling God by making each other as happy as possible!! Unfortunately Charles said that it would make him unhappy if I shared the details, but I can confidently say that I have never been more joyful!!

Dreamling Week Day I: Meowpheus
I am so normal about Dreamling, I can't even begin to explain just how normal I am! Truly! So normal!! The thought of them doesn't send me into a fluffy fluff spiral or anything!!! I promise I'm normal about them!!! Why are you walking away??? Waitâ
Anyway, happy Dreamling Week one and all! :3 I don't think I'll write something for every day of it, but here's my first contribution. Expect it up on AO3 at... some point? Enjoy some tooth-rottingly fluffy gay shenanigans. Fuck segues, you don't need segues when you have the Dreaming.

----
He was just on the edge of sleep, thoughts drifting off somewhere far away from him. They swayed as a sea, cycling like the tide, the steady in- and out-rush of water and sand. Hob could nearly hear it, if he just listened a little closerâÂ
A weight leapt onto Hob's bed, waking him from his half-doze. He blinked blearily through the darkness, registering a shape that looked an awful lot like a housecat, only fuck-off huge. A pair of onyx eyes that sparkled through the dim room met his, glowing with distant starlightâthe sort that had become nigh-invisible in modern London, so not a reflection or trick of the lightâwhich tickled something at the back of his mind. "Dream?" he mumbled.Â
The cat settled beside him, just within his reach. It tilted its head at him. Good evening, Hob Gadling.Â
"What're you doing here?"Â
Do I need a particular reason to visit a friend? Dream teased, cocking his head.Â
"No, it's justâ" Hob yawned, cutting himself off. "I'm not used to seeing you without a reason, is all."Â
Dream stretched, a low purr rumbling through the bed. Am I bothering you?Â
"Not at all." Hob extended a hand, fingers brushing against night-dark fur so soft and feather-fine he could barely feel it. Dream didn't move, so he dug a little deeper, scratching the top of Dream's head. The same bone-deep purr rattled up his arm as Dream leaned into Hob's touch. He was significantly more accepting of touch as a cat than as a... whatever he called that almost-human shape that had graced most of their visits. "I'm not going to make for very good conversation tonight, I'm afraid."Â
Then it is fortuitous I did not come for conversation, hm? Dream flicked an ear in a half-joking gesture. Sleep, Hob Gadling. Rest well in my presence.
Hob was, belatedly, glad that Dream had appeared to him in this formâthe thought of his hands bruising that marble flesh made his head do all sorts of things he couldn't process. The cat was differentâthere was no temptation to lose himself in stormy eyes or to kiss the delicate skin in the hollow of Dream's throat. He had spent centuries without even the least sign of reciprocation, but the more frequent visits of the previous six months left him starving in an entirely different way than usual. No, he decided, brushing a knuckle against the warm skin at the base of Dream's ear, the cat was a distraction most welcome.Â
He fell asleep with surprising ease for sharing a bed with a large, unfamiliar cat who just-so-happened to be his oldest friend (were he more awake as the words passed his thoughts, he'd chuckle with only the slightest bit of mirth). The deep, soothing purring of cat-Dream didn't hurt, either. It invited sleep, drew it in as though putting him on a sea with his blankets as a wave. Hob wasn't really sure if it was part-and-parcel of Dream's whole thing or not, but the question died like a candle as he faded into unconsciousness.Â
They were strolling through an indistinct blur of a park, the sun bright but not burning, each of them holding a cone of soft-serve ice cream. "You must truly wish to see me, Hob Gadling," Dream commented in a voice that had a quality not unlike gravity. His appearance also seemed much moreâvibrant or saturated would be the wrong word for how little colour there was about him, but the whites seemed truer, the blacks more absolute. Yet he still blended beautifully with the gentle greens and blues of their surroundings.Â
Hob was more awake then he had any right to be, but his mind remained a little sluggish still. At least he could tell he was dreaming. "Isâ is this because you were with me?"Â
Dream shook his head, the slightest hint of what might be a smile teasing his lips. "No. And I am still with you, in the Waking world. You are the one who called me here."Â
"I'm... sorry?" Hob tried, unsure of what one should say in such a circumstance. He wondered if anyone else had ever been in his place beforeâthen dismissed the thought as quickly as it came, a painful pang of jealousy in his heart. His relationship with Dream was still too fragile, still too brittle to test its boundaries. Hob could wait, if he truly had to, for Dream to show some sign of reciprocation; he could also survive millennia on the hope alone. God only knew he'd survived the last few hundred years with little more than hope, at least partially for his strangeâand, until recently, namelessâfriend.Â
Either Hob was showing more than he intended of his feelings, or Dream is just in his head, because those starry eyes softened. "You have no reason to apologise. It is a pleasure to spend time with you."Â
"Well, at least the weather is lovely today."Â Â
Dream glanced up at the sky. "Yes, it is," he agreed.Â
Hob noticed that his ice cream had yet to melt and tasted it. Tension he hadn't realised he'd been holding disappeared. It tasted like vanilla ice cream, yes, and good vanilla ice cream at thatâbut beyond that, it tasted of all the times he'd shared dessert with a lover, every hot summer day spent holding hands with somebody he'd loved, every stroll in the park talking about everything and nothing. He closed his eyes and let the flavour wash over him. When he opened them, he found himself sitting opposite Dream at a terraced cafĂŠ, no longer holding ice cream. Instead, his hand rested on the table.Â
And Dream's hand rested on his.Â
Dream himself remained as impassive as ever. "I find that the weather is fair when I visit you," he mused, lashes beating in slow motion. They were a butterfly's wings, snowflakes falling, a rainbow materialising through scattered droplets of water.Â
True romantic that he was, Hob couldn't shake the jolt of joy in his stomach when Dream continued to allow their skin to touch. He wondered how long it'd been since any mortal had been allowed to touch his (his? since when had Dream ever been his?) Dream Lord. "It's been good to see you more frequently, too. And to finally know your name, after all this time."Â
"I have come to realise that you deserve a great many things you may never receive," Dream said, "and I feel it is my responsibility to give you whichever of those are in my power." He fell silent for a moment before moving his hand to entwine his fingers with Hob's. Another small smile graced his lips.Â
"Is this one of them?" Hob asked, swallowing.Â
"Yes and no. You have been an invaluable companion for many years, despite my distance and reluctance to admit it. In this sense, I am merely returning the favour." Dream tilted his head, much as he had as a cat, an unfamiliar sparkle in his eyes. "While I have never paid particular attention to your dreams, I have always been aware of them."Â
"Oh," said Hob, the statement sinking in, "oh." His face flushed and, if this were a conversation with anyone else, he would've pulled his hand away to cover his face. Dream's touch simply felt too rare to forego, too precious to lose. "I'm, um. I don'tâ don't know what to say. Please forgive me for seeing you in that light?" In his defence, Hob hadn't known who or what Dream even was for the first six hundred years, had no idea that his Stranger would be privy to those fantasies.Â
Dreamâlaughed. He actually laughed, the bastard. His laugh was, at most, a dry chuckle, but it was worlds more expressive than Hob ever expected to hear from him. "Hob Gadling," he said, half-smiling, eyes full of care and mirth and secrets and stars, "I am the King of Dreams. Were I displeased, or uncomfortable, with your fantasies of me, they would be well within my ability to stop."Â
"You don't mind dreams where Iâ?" Shag you silly, Hob finished in his thoughts, far too embarrassed to speak those words out loud.Â
"You were right, one hundred and thirty-three years ago. I was lonely, and I was too proud to admit itâwhich, I have come to realise, is exactly why I was so lonely. Only recently have I become aware of my own such... personal flaws."Â
"So you'd forgive my being so forward as to..." There was no longer a table between them, only a step that Hob closed with relish. They were so close their chests nearly touched, a breathâthough, Hob noticed, Dream didn't breatheâbetween them. He remained hesitant as he put a hand to Dream's waist. With a smooth, too-fluid motion, Dream did the rest and gardens bloomed glorious behind Hob's eyes.

Do The Fireworks Again Kitty
Pairing: Loki x female reader
Warnings: mentions of parent death (nothing graphic), anxiety/grief comfort, Loki being an absolute gentleman and sweetheart, friends to lovers, maybe a touch of angst (yelling, light swearing)
Word count: 3.2k (short i know)
A/N: for context this is written with the Loki from Thor 1, heâs so cute that I couldnât resist, and after the firework trick in ep3 i lost my mind at the concept. This written for a reader who recently lost a parent, i hope it can bring some comfort, i really enjoyed writing it :)
Sign up for my tag list here, requests are open!
After your father had passed from a sickness, leaving you an orphan since your mother had passed when you were only a small child, Odin and Frigga had been longtime friends of theirs and took you in to live in the palace with their family. They attempted to keep your parents memory alive for you, dinners were full of their stories and time spent together, but you were persistent in your attempts to forget your parents even existed and the emptiness they left behind.
Today was Motherâs Day and it goes without saying that that was much harder to forget on a holiday that gave a constant reminder to the void you held within yourself for most of your life, you could feel it start to engulf you more and more with every passing moment you stood there by yourself in a hallway of the palace where you were to meet him.
Since living with the family you had grown quite close to the youngest son Loki, he didnât tiptoe around you as if you were fragile like everyone else did, he treated you like a normal person. Your friendship was built on messing with Thor, the late night talks about Lokiâs father or what little details you would reveal of your childhood, and the magic tricks he would show off after Frigga had taught him. You were inseparable, dependent on each other, so without him by your side you were losing your marbles in all honesty.
Sweaty hands did a swooshing motion as to send a constant breeze your way, a desperate attempt to self soothe as you began to feel the golden walls on either side of you start to close in, slightly gasping for air as if it had been knocked out of your lungs. Your mothers voice slowly creeping into your mind, you slid your back down the wall and rested your head on your knees, arms wrapped around yourself trying to rid what little memory you had of this day.
âI want my mommyâ you could hear your younger self begging and it made your stomach twist, it sounded just like it had the day she passed. Trying to slow your breathing by counting was useless in this state, your thoughts always going back to the last time you had seen your mothers face, the way she said âi love you honeyâ to you. You looked up in the midst of your panic only to see that the sun was already starting to set, how long had you been sitting there?
You stared out the giant glass panes at the end of the hall and watched the sun go down, completely zoned out as you let all of the pain swallow you whole, that is until you were met with the sound of a familiar pair of footsteps and pulled from your thoughts. Loki. As he made his way around the corner you locked eyes making you consciously blink for the first time in what was probably hours, you felt tears run down your face and itâs only then that you noticed youâd been crying the whole time, it doesnât go unnoticed by Loki who immediately makes his way over to comfort his girl.
âY/n what happened? Why are you crying darling?â He asks only letting the faintest bit of panic seep through his voice, his hands coming up to rest on your cheeks, you immediately leaned into his touch for that comfort you had been craving for hours.
âLoki, what was today?â You asked just barely above a whisper, not even sure he had heard you.
âMotherâs-â he cut himself as realization hit him like a bullet, he had abandoned his best friend on the one day she truly needed him to be there. The one time he knew that the dam you built to keep your grief in would crumble, and he wasnât there. His heart ached for you as you sat before him, for the pain he had partially been responsible for.
âIâm so terribly sorry my love, Iâm sorry I wasnât here, I canât believe it slipped my mind. Can i make it up to you? Can i help in any way?â He asked kissing your forehead and letting it linger, feeling you nod against his lips.
âCan we go to your room, i think I wanna talk about it for onceâ you let out weakly, lip trembling as more tears threatened to fall from your already swollen eyes and he gave you a small smile before pulling you to your feet and immediately into his arms. His limbs wrapped tightly around you, almost trying to hold your broken heart together. You happily accepted the notion and took this time to inhale his scent completely, only wanting to get lost in it.
âDo you forgive me? You definitely donât have to, but i would like a bit of a heads up on whether or not i should hide anything you can stab me withâ he said with a deep chuckle and you let out small laugh, music to his ears.
âAll is forgiven Kittyâ you retorted with a sly smile, knowing he was in no place to make a comment about the cutesy nickname you had used, the one he despised more than anything else.
Well, the one he pretended to at least. He would never admit the rush of emotions the nickname that would be otherwise nauseating gave him, but each and every time you said it, those three little forbidden words threatened to fall from his lips.
As he took your hand to lead you to his room he couldnât help but smile down at you, only to find you already looking at him, causing a blush to spread across both of your cheeks. Shutting the door behind him when you reached his room you both went to sit on his bed, immediately falling into your typical position, him laying against the headboard with you sitting between his legs.
He let you talk to your hearts content, holding your hand and tracing shapes along your shoulder to keep you from getting overwhelmed as you went into detail about the last Motherâs Day you had spent with your mother. You talked a bit about your father, it seeming to phase you less, at least for the moment. When you felt that you had let out all that you could, you released a breath you didnât realize you were holding in, slumping back against Lokiâs shoulder, body relaxing into him.
âDo you feel any better?â He asked kissing your cheek a few times, he wasnât usually this touchy, not due to a lack of want but a fear of crossing the threshold he had forced himself to follow. You were in a lot of pain, it would be wrong of him to try and nurture a relationship on the corpse of your parents, he wanted you to have taken the time to mourn and come to terms with what was another big loss in your life before he confessed his dirty little secret. Loki had fallen in love with you. He knew it wasnât right to use your grief as an excuse to touch you the way he always wanted, but he figured if it was also helping you then it couldnât be that bad.
âYeah, a bit, i just feel like Iâm not drowning in it anymore yâknow? Thank you for listeningâ you said with a small smile, Loki humming in understanding against your neck, sending shivers down your body. To anyone with working eyes the little details of your crush were obvious. You never let anyone other than Loki touch you, you were attached to his hip anytime it was possible, and you basically only spoke to him other than the small words you shared with Thor whenever he tried to extend an olive branch. The whole family had been very kind to you, but the rest of them just didnât get you the way Loki could, he had never tried to shelter you, he only wanted to be a confidant for you. He had done it successfully as well, the only one to ever know how you truly felt at any given moment, there was deep and unspoken trust between you two who had been strangers only months earlier.
Loki sat the both of you up as he remembered how he planned to make today up to you, âWhile i was with Frigga she taught me something new, she said youâd like it, give me your handâ excitement clear in his voice. He took your hand and placed his on top, putting his focus into the spell before he opened his eyes to see you enthralled in the magic within his palm where small fireworks were shooting out, leaving a glow of changing colors against your face. Your big wide eyes full of joy for the first time that day,
âLoki! Thatâs amazing, how did she know i liked fireworks?â You asked as the smile spread across your lips.
âShe remembered your mother telling her about how you were so excited when you found out Midgard had two holidayâs dedicated to them, she spent at least two hours making sure i could do it properly, they never see you smile like you do around me so she wanted to do the best she could to make it happen.â He explained, changing the colors of the little light show to fit his story as he told it.
âThatâs very kind of her, Iâll make sure i tell her how much i loved it, because i do love it. Fireworks remind me of simpler times, happier times, how can you be upset in front of such beautiful lights? I feel bad for how much distance i keep from Frigga, sheâs one of few people who knew me before my parentâs passing and i know she would never try to replace my mother, but i feel like if i let her in Iâm betraying her memoryâ you shyly admitted, turning around to essentially straddle him, one of his hands immediately landing on your hips. You knew Frigga would never overstep but in some ways you felt that if you accepted the love she was offering then youâd become attached, only to lose her as well.
âI understand that love, and so does she, itâs why she gives you your spaceâ Loki affirmed you, stopping the fireworks only to settle his hand against your cheek, gazing into your eyes, just barely allowing himself to get lost in them before continuing.
âI know you forgive me for today but I donât quite forgive myself for letting you downâ he said, guilt evident even in his soothing voice.
âLoki-â
âNo let me finishâ he cut you off with a finger against your lips to which you only nodded.
âI donât forgive myself, you deserved better. So from now on we will make Motherâs Day a fireworks holiday, just you and me after i give Frigga her flowers, and hopefully youâll let her join us somedayâ Loki finished with a warm smile, running one of his hands up and down your side. You was beside yourself, happy tears welling in your eyes at the beautiful gesture that you knew he fully meant. Your hands met his face, rubbing your thumb against the apples of his cheeks.
âI love you Loki, thank you so muchâ you exclaimed as you wrapped your arms around his neck, pulling him into the warmest hug you could give him before pulling away to look into his stunning eyes. He had slightly paled leaving you a bit confused but before you could ask him about it he was leaning in, pressing a soft kiss to your lips, and before you could reciprocate he had already pulled away.
Loki didnât dare meet your eyes as he scrambled to get from underneath you, sliding you back onto the actual bed before quickly moving across the room to put distance between you, as if he was trying to protect you from him. Loki paced running his hands through his dark head of hair, angry at himself for doing something so stupid. You tried to make your way over to him but he only backed away.
âNo, you stay over there. God iâm such a fool, Iâm so sorry y/n, I canât believe i did thatâ his voice cracking, y/n could see the tears starting to stream down his face.
âLoki itâs okayâ you pleaded, trying everything to comfort the extremely distressed man in front of you.
âNO IT ISNâT Y/N!â He yelled, more angry at himself than you.
âAn hour ago you were crying about your parents and then i go and try to kiss you?! It was wrong and stupid and it wasnât how this was supposed to happen.â Loki is beside himself at this point, face in buried in his hands.
âHow what was supposed to happen Loki?â you ask with a gulp, utterly confused at your best friends behavior.
âFuck it, i already ruined everythingâŚâ he said shaking his head in disbelief before continuing,
âI love you y/n.â He stated with a wavering voice.
âI love you too Loki, i just told you thatâ you returned.
âNo y/n, I donât love you that way. I love you in the way that makes me weak in the knees, the way that letâs you consume my thoughts for every moment that i am alive. Every breath i take is so i can spend another moment with you, every new magic trick i learn is in hopes that i can put a smile on those gorgeous lips of yours, because i love you. From the very first time i made you smile i knew it was all i ever wanted to do, make you happy. I pushed all of my feelings for you away because i wanted you to heal, I wanted you to be in a better place because it isnât fair of me to put that much pressure on you. I wanted the timing to be right so nothing could get in our way and now Iâve completely ruined any possibility of a relationship. Iâm sorry for this, for all of it, for forcing my feelings upon you when you were vulnerable. Iâm sorry that Iâm such a lovesick fool that i would accidentally hurt you. I hope despite my mistakes tonight you take away the fact that i would move mountains, destroy every galaxy, and leave everything Iâve ever known behind, for you.â He stopped only to release shaky breath, he looked sort of frozen to his place in the room, as if he were going to be swallowed whole by the floor if he moved.
âBecause y/n, i am unconditionally and irrevocably in love with you.â He finished with a slight sob, it was only then you noticed how he was shaking. You carefully made your way to him, reaching up to touch his trembling figure, making him flinch. It broke your heart to see it, was he afraid that you would try and hurt him? After such sweet words?
âLoki honey⌠look at me pleaseâ you begged him, he shook his head without looking up from his feet, youâd think you had screamed at him with the way he was acting like a scared puppy.
âKitty, will you please look at me?â The sound of that nickname made his head reluctantly look up, his eyes meeting yours for the first time in what felt like ages, you looked between him and his lips silently begging for him not to pull away as you slowly connected them. The kiss was gentle and affirming, filled with nothing but love. His arms slowly making their way to your waist as if he was afraid youâd break if he moved too suddenly. You lightly eased into the kiss before finally pulling away, Loki looked more shocked than anything as you moved your head to rest on his shoulder.
âI love you too Loki, when i said i loved you earlier i meant it the same way you did, i just never thought you felt the same. Iâm so in love with you, i thought you would have figured that out by now with how intelligent you areâ you released a small laugh, not understanding how such a brilliant mind couldâve missed something so evident. If it was a snake, it wouldâve bit him.
âObviously I didnât, Iâm intelligent but blind as it seemsâ a relieved chuckle fell past his lips as he smiled at you, the feeling of you in his arms was an unmatched form of soothing.
âPlease donât feel bad about this or the timing, Iâm happy Loki. You make me happy, youâre really the only thing that does. You are the best thing in my life and I couldnât have asked for anything better, except maybe for you to not have scared the shit out of me like that earlier.â Looking up at him during the last part, bringing a hand up to wipe away tear stains littering his milky skin.
âIâm sorry y/n, i just didnât want to overstepâ he leaned into your hand before putting his own on top of it, making sure it didnât leave itâs place for the time being.
âTrust me, i am perfectly fine with this, but you owe me for the damn heart attack you just gave meâ you pointed out, lightly hitting his chest to scold him, your heart had been in your ass from the minute he first pulled away.
âOh no, how could i ever repay you for the damageâ he retorted with his signature smirk, tucking a strand of hair behind your ear
âShut up, kiss me, and do the fireworks again kitty, i want them purple this timeâ removing your hand from his cheek only to play with the collar of his top.
âWhatever you want my love, your wish is my commandâ and with that he followed your request, pulling you in again and giving you what was your first full kiss together, your hands made their way to rest around his neck. It expressed all the pent up emotion, warmth moving between the messy kiss, both of you far too excited to care.
Without breaking the kiss Loki raised one of his hands, bringing back the small magic in his palms to illuminate the kiss with your favorite shade of violet, two kinds of fireworks exploding in that moment.

Harry is awoken by the sudden weight of his dog across his chest, and he yawns and stretches his arms above his head, relishing the crack of his back the gesture produces and sending Fen tumbling down onto the bed. Thereâs a niggling sensation that he has something important to do that day, but in his still-sleepy state heâs struggling to recall what it is. When it hits him, he freezes mid-rub of his eyes, and his hand slowly falls to the furs strewn across the bed. His fingers tangle into their soft texture and he bites his lip.
Right. Itâs that day.The day heâs meant to travel south.

âHey, Harry!â Louis greets, walking up to Harry with a sunny smile.
Any other time, that smile would lift Harryâs heart even as it made it race. He could let himself get lost in it, would probably catch himself more than once hoping, wishing for it to be more than a smile aimed at a friend. Heâd relish the moments he could forget that thatâs all he is to Louis. Any other time, heâd be selfish and let himself entertain those thoughts. But this is not like any other time. Tonight is the beginning of the end.

âThis is Harry Styles,â Chiron offers.
Heâs beautiful. His eyes are a stunning green, the color of new foliage. The new kidâs limbs are long and lankyâhe looks extremely uncomfortable and uncoordinated. Louis internally smirks to himself, guessing the kid probably wonât be too skilled with a sword, or a bow, or anything sharp, most likely. His hair falls to his shoulders in sets of loose, brown curls. The color is rich and luscious, resembling soil so much that it looks like flowers could sprout from his hairline at any moment. But Louisâ eyes are stuck on his soft looking lips, pink as flower petals and slightly parted as his eyes scan the horizon of the camp.

âWhat did you hit me on the head for?â Louis said. He tried to frown, but it hurt too much. Plus it was hard to frown at someone taking care of him so tenderly. âI didnât hit you on the head,â Harry said calmly, moving from Louisâs forehead to remove some bandages on his arm. âMy friend Niall, the God of Death, hit you on the head.â âWell, why did Niall hit me on the head?â Louis asked. He noticed his lips hurt too, and felt a small gash on them. His arms were covered in scratches and cuts, and as he moved to sit up, he winced at a pain coming from his waist. âWhat the hell happened to me?â Harry sighed. âNiall can get a bit⌠excited.â âWas he excited about hitting me on the head?â âNo!â Harry said. âNiall just got away with himself.â âDoes he do that often? Get away with himself, I mean?â Louis asked wryly. âOnly when an idea gets stuck in his head that he canât get out.â
For being the God of Death, Niall has a habit of acting on ideas without thinking them through. It's probably why Harry ends up with an unexpected but entirely welcome visitor in his bed the day after a Mount Olympus party.

may i raise: artem mr 99% win rate senior attorney at 28 or whatever wing, driven to full blown laughter in the nxx headquarters. the reason: some dumb joke luke says that just so happens to cater to artem's Oddly Specific Sense of Humor
I LOVE THIS ASK SO MUCH BECAUSE I LOVE HUMOR. and humor theory, humor studies, linguistics of humor, senses of humor, just, oh man, you hit something here, anon. im kind of sorry for what this answer is going to be because i have thoughts and by god am i going to tell you all of them
i like to think a weird little thing happens, among the NXX Investigation Team: marius wants to know what exactly can make the other members of the team lose their fucking marbles.
mc was his first target and she was very easy to crack. she likes videos of animals doing cute yet silly things and was brought to wheezing laughter at a video of a golden retriever valiantly trying so hard to catch food in his mouth but missing every single time. with further prodding, marius also finds out shes into memes and jokes from medias shes familiar with.
vyn was next and he took a bit of thinking, from marius. marius needed to get vyn right on the first try because he's sure that if he fails once, vyn will give him THE most smarmy unimpressed expression ever and marius will have to be physically held back from punching him in the face. so he thinks about vyn's personality and background, thinks about maybe psychology jokes, but then marius comes to a conclusion that he believes enough to hazard a try. one day, when he and vyn are waiting in the nxx meeting room, marius sends him a tweet. with bated breath, he watches vyn notice it, open it, and then emit just the softest little "hehehe"
which, from vyn, is honestly as boisterous as his laughter is ever going to get.
the cause of the laughter? that video of a dude being pushed from a platform into the dark abyss, his scream echoing, from the Perfectly Cut Screams twitter.
because vyn is like, insane.
marius decides to leave artem for last (because duhhh marius has barely seen artem smile, is he even capable of laughter?? artem is going to be marius' Boss Level, he goes last) so next on the laugh train is luke.
but luke has figured out that marius is on a mission and luke, an arrogant shithead in his own way, refuses to let marius break him.
marius wants to STRANGLE LUKE. marius has sent him memes of olde, memes of new, comedy sketches, tiktok compilations, vine compilations, and luke does not laugh. marius is damn sure he would have, at some of those things, but luke is Refusing To Laugh and marius is so close to challenging him to like, a duel (shut up, he doesnt know okay, hes frustrated and he doesnt know how to express that like a normal person, get off his back) or something.
marius gets so desperate that he even resorts to what he thinks is the most groan-worthy form of humor: puns
very specific puns, because today marius is testing his theory that maybe luke's nerditude will betray him. puns about engineering and natural science, theyre all TERRIBLE but marius continues because he WILL WIN, GODDAMNIT and
theyre outside of the courthouse, waiting for mc to finish up (she just had a trial and she was awesome, as per usual, queen shit) so marius, vyn, luke, and artem are idling outside, and while waiting. marius is telling puns to luke. aggressively.
"you can give up, you know," luke smiles sweetly. "no shame in that."
"fuck you, next pun," marius scowls. "a raven has 17 primary wing feathers. these feathers are called pinions. and the crow only has 16 of those feathers. so the difference between a crow and a raven is..." marius winces. "...only a matter of a pinion."
"okay," luke says, and marius wants to punch him sooooo baaaad. "not only does that pun suck but it's also just. objectively wrong. both crows and ravens only have 10 primaries---"
"shut the hell up, birdbrain."
"---among those 10 primaries there a few that are longer and more distinct than the others, kind of looking like fingers, so to speak. crows have 5 evident finger feathers---"
"oh my god"
"---wheareas ravens only have 4. so i guess with some editing, the joke could still work. a more sound version though would be to compare crows and song sparrows, which do have the correct difference in primaries and---"
marius is about to flick luke in the forehead, but hes stopped by the strangest sound.
the sound of somebody having an asthma attack but like, through a kazoo or something.
marius, luke, and vyn turn to where artem is and he is, inexplicably, losing his shit. he continues to lose his shit actually for like 30 whole more seconds before he calms down enough to look up at everybody who is in turn looking at him like he's grown a second head.
"what?" artem says, puzzled.
"why the fuck were you laughing?" marius asks.
"because it was...funny," artem says as if this is obvious when it is NOT and then everybody in that moment realizes
that what makes artem laugh seems to be the act of over explaining jokes itself.
(and before anybody sends a follow up ask, marius' favorite joke is bofa.
artem scrunches his eyebrows. "what is bofa?"
marius grins, absolutely fucking DELIGHTED.)

Dancing with the Devil: Part II
Part 1
Pairing: Luca Changretta x Reader
Authorâs note: This was so embarrassing to write not because of smut...but because Iâm crushing hard on Adrien Brody right now. And I canât even share this obsession with anyone because⌠heâs kinda niche? Someone please reassure me that Iâm just going through a phase because dear God why canât I stop watching Darjeeling Limited just to see him ahhh.
The story picks up right after the end of Part 1, so I recommend reading that first. Comments, likes, and reblogs are always appreciated, let me know what you think!
Summary: Following your meeting with Luca Changretta, you face the Shelby family and Tommy's reaction. (2.6k words)
Warnings: Smut, angst, swearing
Tag: Let me know if you would like to be added or removed

_____________________________________________________________
You barely make it into your bedroom before he is all over you. The buttons of his crisp, tailored shirt fall like marbles. He moans when you nip the skin of his neck, right over his tattoo of the black cross, legs tangled together like a depraved waltz.
When he grinds into you, you shudder deliciously at the hardness that meets between your bare thighs.
How easy would it be for him to kill you after he fucks you, leaving your corpse twisted in the bedsheets. You know Tommy would find it when he eventually remembers that he has not seen you for days.
âSignorita, you know I come to you with the most honorable of intentions.â He murmurs, as if sensing your thoughts.
âYou're not a very honorable man then.â A laugh that turns into a gasp as he trails his hand lower and strokes between your legs. No, not very honorable at all. And pretty soon all thoughts of honor are forgotten as he coaxes a moan from your throat.
His fingers are magic. The cold outline of his onyx rings scald your skin each time he crooks a finger inside you. Knowing exactly what you need, seeking your depths, swirling, rising to rub the clit, all the while exploring the flushed expanse of your body with his other hand.
Shoulder to breasts to hips and back again.
Without meaning to, youâve let this stranger take control of your entire being. But God, do you crave this pure ecstasy.
Itâs as if he wants to know precisely how much you can take before you're undone. So when you clench around his hand and feel the familiar ache he is right there, helping you ride the wave of pleasure, never breaking the rhythm of his thrusting fingers even as you curse, rake your nails down his back.
You almost cry out his name when you come. But you bite into his shoulder instead.
âSweetheart, Iâm gonna have to hear you next time.â He growls.
His words barely register as you come down from the high. Aftershocks spark like tiny flames. Now you are wearing his scent as much as he is wearing yours.
âBe inside me,â You whimper, tugging at his soft hair, urging him for more.
He rasps an empty warning, âWhat's my name, sweetheart?â
Of course. All this time you've never acknowledged you know of his identity. There was no use in trying to hide it now.
âLuca,â you breathe. And his eyes gleam with approval.
With a snap of his hips, he plunges into silky warmth. The fullness stretches you to your limit, head thrown back. Itâs good, so good. Every withdrawal of his thrust is a blessing because you know what follows next. Itâs him inside you again, wrapping you with his touch and the scent of tobacco and roses.
âDoes your Tommy fuck you like this? Like the way I do?â
âHeâs not mine.â You choke out, punishing Luca with a bite on the neck that elicits a chuckle rather than a yelp of pain.
He kisses you, your foreheads pressed together. âA damn shame for him.â Soon he starts to quicken his pace, going faster, more erratic, his breathing heavy upon your ears.
Yes, you urge him, come on, now.
And this is your chance. In a flash you roll on top of him, pinning down his shoulders with your hands. He tries to arch up but you stop him with a knee.
âHow many men did you bring, Changretta?â You ask, making your voice rough to mask the lust, pressing your hands around his jugular.
It's a pleasure to see him like this. Shocked at your actions, maybe even scared. Naked with want but unable to do anything to relieve it. Unless he tells the truth.
âFifteen. Why baby, am I not enough for you?â He laughs breathlessly, hands trailing goosebumps along your hips, tracing the contour of your breasts. The jib doesn't hurt you. After all, men have said worse. He tries to surge into you again, and his hot member pulses on your thighs.
âDo you swear on your honor? That youâre telling the truth?â You insist, squeezing him harder. The touch brands his skin as much as it brands yours.
In a voice full of self-mockery he says, âYes I swear on my honor. Now let me in, clever Isabel.â
You take him in you, the sensations amplify a thousandfold. You try teasing him, going slowly in and out, but soon you are caught up in the sensation of him completely at your mercy and you ride him, faster, until you keen his name, until he too is undone.
****
Through the haze of dawn, he stumbles out of bed and gets dressed. Before he dons his hat once more, Luca leans down to whisper in your ear, as soft as sin.
âYou tell Tommy Shelby he may expect a visitor in the night. I'm coming for him as the angel of death. The vendetta has begunâŚâ He kisses your hair.
âIâll see you soon, sweetheart.â
The door clicks shut. You rise from your pillow, and a small, hard lump rolls next to your hand.
It is a signet ring of onyx and gold.
****
âSo we all get a death letter from the mafia, but Izzy gets jewelry?â Ada huffs as the family filters into the betting shop. As usual, Tommy holds court at the front of the table, brooding over a glass of whiskey. You roll your eyes as Arthur and John try to cover their snort of laughter with a cough.
âIf you want it, you can have it, Ada. Heâs probably planning on killing me too.â
âDoubt it. Youâre not a Shelby, and weâre the ones who killed his father. Well, someone did, to be precise.â She shoots a bitter look at Tommy, who doesnât even have the decency to look ashamed.
Despite Adaâs matter-of-fact tone, the words cut to your heart. Not a Shelby.
Itâs not her fault. No one knows youâve been sleeping with Tommy, not even your dearest friend. Itâs a lonely secret to keep, but at least you can look at the family square in the eye and not have to worry about the things they say behind your back. Or worse, pity you.
You can handle the violence and moral ambiguity of Tommyâs business. But to lose the love and respect of the Shelbys would break your heart.
âWhat was the mafia man like, Izzy?â Finn asks eagerly. Itâs obvious the boy is thinking of the dashing, gun-wielding gangsters heâs seen in the pictures.
âHe was a wrinkly old brute. Kind of like your arsehole brother Tommy.â A smile to take the edge off the insult. But Tommy only looks off into space. As if he hasn't paid attention to this entire conversation.
Arthur clears his throat. âNow, letâs get one thing straight. It was me who pulled the trigger on his dad, so the blame falls on me.â He pats Lindaâs hand even as his voice is heavy with guilt.
âNo oneâs blaming you Arthur, you werenât the brains behind the operation, no offense.â Ada says. He is about to say something when Polly cuts in.
âStop squabbling like children. Weâve all voted for truce, despite everything Tommyâs done to usââ The words nearly having us hanged hover pointedly in the air. ââSo letâs focus on the matter at hand." She fixes Tommy with a sharp look.
âWhatâs the news from Camden Town? Will Solomons help us?â
âNo.â He says tiredly. And all of a sudden you feel sorry for teasing him. He look gaunt. There are shadows under his eyes, even more so than usual. Without you to remind him to eat, you can imagine his diet for the past few days consisted more of alcohol and cigarettes than anything substantial.
âSpent three hours on a fucking tour of his bakery and another pretending to drink his piss-poor rum. I think he was trying to get me sloshed so Iâd forget what I came for.â Tommy rubs his head.
âHeâs refusing to send his men to help. Said heâs not going to go after another oppressed people.â
âDid you tell him the Italians are rounding up Jews in their country as we speak?â Polly asks incredulously.
âWouldnât make a difference to Alfie. Besides, thatâs just an excuse. Heâs really just a fucking coward.â
Polly looks troubled at this, as does the rest of the family. Everyone had been counting on Alfieâs friendship with Tommy, however peculiar, to help them with the vendetta. What they hadnât expected was his extreme sense of self-perseverance. How are they going to protect themselves now?
âBefore everyone panics, Iâd like to say something.â Tommy clears his throat, setting down the whisky.
âAs you may all know, two nights ago our Izzy encountered Mr. Changretta in the Garrison. He bought her a drink and asked her to deliver an official beginning of the vendetta.â He chooses this time to finally look at you. You hold his gaze until he looks shiftily away.
âWe can also assume that he has been scoping out Small Heath, looking for any weaknesses on our turf. Now, Izzy has something to share with you all.â
You stand up uncertainly. The last time a woman other than Polly tried to speak her mind at the table it had been Esme, who still refuses to come to the betting shop unless Tommy is not here.
âWhile Mr. Changretta was, er, indisposed at the Garrison, I found some items in his coat that I think could be useful.â You fish out a passport and a stack of papers from your skirt pockets.
âGood job, Izzy! Oh, I knew we could count on you more than my idiot brother.â Ada beams.
âBecoming a right little spy, eh?â John ruffles your hair good-naturedly. As everyone gathers around, Polly gives a low whistle.
âGoodness, if this is your definition of an ugly brute, I wonder whoâll really catch your fancy, darling.â
You flush. The documents were obtained shortly after Luca had fallen asleep. It was an exercise in agility, trying to extricate yourself from his tangle of limbs, especially when you wanted nothing more than to stay in bed, encased in his warmth.
To your own credit, the papers were highly useful indeed. Some were maps of Birmingham, circles drawn in places where the Shelbys are known to frequent. The Garrison. Charlieâs Yard. The Arrow House. There was also stationary from The Stanton, a hotel just outside of the city.
There had been another piece of paper in the stack, a letter. But you kept that for yourself.
âWe all have Izzy to thank for bringing us this valuable information.â Tommyâs voice rises above the chatter. âI will be personally examining all the documents and think of a plan. In the meantime, everyone stay alert, stay armed, and stay together.â
âNow if no one has any further questions, I need to have a private word with her. Alone.â
*****
You twirl the onyx ring around your finger as everyone filters out. Itâs much too big but you still wear it anyways. The thick band of gold is comforting in its own way. And despite what you told Ada earlier, you donât want to give it to anyone else.
Tommyâs curt voice snaps you from your reverie.
âWas it good, then?â
A small muscle tics on the underside of his jaw. His previously blank expression is now cold. The coward in you compels you to feign ignorance.
âWhat do you mean, Tommy?â You ask lightly.
âDid it feel good to have that fucking wop inside you?â
You burst out laughing. âChrist, Tommy. Did you pick up that word from Alfie? You sound bloody ridiculous when youâre trying to be crass, you know.â
âDonât fucking change the subject, Isabel.â Tommy snaps.
âOh, so Iâm Isabel, now? You only call me that when youâre trying to get me in bed. Is that what you want? A bit early in the evening if you ask me.â
âWhat I want for you is to tell me how it felt having that man inside you, inside---â
You blaze with anger. âMy sex life is none of your business, even if you are an occasional participant. I did what you would have wanted, and now Iâve got intel on the Changrettas that could save your arse!â
âDo you know how dangerous it could have been? Fraternizing with the enemy is exactly what got us into trouble with the Changrettas!â
âAnd fraternizing with them again has given us an advantage. We know how many associates heâs brought with him, and where they are staying. Good God,â Your eyes widen as you see the mutinous look on Tommyâs face. âAre you jealous?â
The silence of the room presses in until it's almost palpable. Finally he rubs a hand over his eyes, looking utterly defeated.
âI have no right to.â He says, pained. âBut I am, just the same.â
The admission of his feelings would have made your heart soar a few days ago, before you met a man who enchanted you in the Garrison. You only laugh bitterly.
âWhat makes this different from all those other times you made me seduce the men you wanted to spy on?â
He says nothing. But what else is there to say? The past is in the past, and so many hurts have been caused by the both of you, it would be impossible to untangle it all.
You soften your voice, laying a hand on Tommy's arm.
âLet me continue seeing him. He wants me, and we can use that. You know it will be help, you know it might save us all.â
A breath flutters in your chest as you wait for his decision. If Tommy allows it, youâll do it in a heartbeat. The Shelbys are your family, whether you're one in name or not.
But if he refuses, then perhaps⌠Perhaps he might actually care for you, deeper than jealousy, deeper than he admits.
âVery well.â Tommy says finally, and something in your heart shatters. The corners of your mouth curve up in a wobbly smile.
âThank you for trusting me, Tommy. I wonât let you down.â
âYou would never let me down, no matter what you do. JustâŚBe careful, Izzy.â
He closes the distance between you and enfolds you in a hug. You enjoy this quiet warmth, as fragile as spider's silk. With a small laugh, you pull away, patting his arm before turning to the door.
You don't look back to see if he follows.

since ur sexting post all i can think of is sugar daddy erwin. that man is classy and so generous heâd be the best sugar daddy. do you have any headcanons of that? i love how u write sm. thank youuuuu
OF COURSE BESTIE, anything for you. Iâm so glad you enjoy my writing, ily đ Now hereâs some sugardaddy!Erwin headcanons for you:
TW: fembodied!reader (she/her pronouns), spicyness underneath the read more, slight daddy kink, 18+
In a modern AU I always envision Erwin to be in a powerful position like a professor, lawyer or law firm owner, or a CEO of some successful company. Whatever the job is, this man is making bank and has more than enough extra money to spend on a sugar baby. Itâs just him that heâs primarily taking care of, so one extra person would barely put a dent in his paychecks.
You didnât meet him on a sugar daddy site or anything like that. You worked at a small diner that he frequented because of the nostalgia vibes it gave him and also because he was quite smitten with you the very first time he saw you. He doesnât care that the coffee tastes like dirt or that his food is mostly grease whenever he orders it, itâs the way your face lights up whenever he gives you a tip thatâs probably worth more than a paycheck for you that keeps him coming back.
At this point he has your schedule memorized, coming on days that he knows youâll be there, and striking up conversation with you whenever he can. Itâs through your little conversations in between breaks and days on when the diner isnât busy at all that he learns a lot about you and becomes attached. At first he thought it was nothing more than a platonic connection, but that changed one day when a song of jealousy stabbed him in the heart when he saw another customer trying to flirt with you. He decided that he needed to make a move on you soon because you were too beautiful for him to lose you to some lowlife, so the next time you came to his table to refill his coffee he popped the question without even thinking, âWould you like to go on a date with me?â
You were surprised, but you would be lying if you said you didnât have the hots for the older man as well so you agreed and your first date night was the first time you really got insight to how much money he had. First off, he sent you a custom made dress along with some stunning jewelry to go with it and designer pumps that youâve only thought about wearing in your dreams. He wanted to make sure you didnât feel left out or under dressed at the high scale restaurant he took you too. Not only that, but he had a chauffeur pick you up with him in the backseat of the car. He was being extra extra that night and spoiled you like a princess for the whole night. Not letting you even touch your wallet once and getting you everything you wanted.
If you couldnât pay him with money you were going to repay him with the 2nd best way you knew; a blowjob. It was on the way back to his penthouse in the back seat of the chauffeur. Partition up and tinted so he wouldnât see you two; Erwin splayed out on the seat with his hand on the back of your head guiding it up and down as praises left his lips.
âGood girl, just like that. Your mouth feels so good around daddyâs cock.â âYou do that so well, Iâm definitely going to have to keep you around.â Didnt even care that the chauffeur was probably listening to the two of you, but I think exhibition and showing you off to other people would be a big kink of sugardaddy!Erwin.
Not saying heâs passed you around his colleagues before, but heâs probably passed you around his colleagues at one point. (Levi, Nile, & Zeke all at once mayhaps đ)
ANYWAYS, he then repaid your favor of giving him a blowjob by taking you inside of his penthouse and taking you to pound town all night long. Iâm talking about sex on his expensive marble counters, on top of the piano in his livingroom, in his bathroom thats as big as your bedroom and yes, he did use the shower head while you were in the shower to stimulate you even more. Not only that, but at one point in the night he fucked you up against the windows of his penthouse from behind. You canât even remember how many times you came that night.
It was set in stone from that moment on that you would be something like a sugar baby to him. I say something like a sugar baby because your dynamic is not ânormalâ compared to how other sugar baby/sugar daddy dynamics are. Itâs much more like a regular relationship with the benefits of a sugar daddy & baby relationship. He treats you like youâre his wife and you even have a big diamond promise ring on your finger to prove that one day you will end up being his wife.
You can say youâre going to the store to go buy some bagels because you guys ran out and heâs handing you a thousand dollars like itâs nothing. Your eyes glance over at a purse while you two are out shopping? Heâs getting it for you! You say you like a certain brand of shoes? Heâs buying you every pair possible in your size. Not to mention the stacks he drops on you every month for lingerie so you can send him those pictures of you.
You stay at his penthouse with him most of the time but just incase you need your own space every now and then, he bought you an apartment in the building that his penthouse is in. Fully furnished and paid off, so you donât have to do anything but enjoy it. Heâs such a gentleman, always spoiling you and treating you like a Queen.

Summaryâ You have a shot at attaining a huge promotion at your company. The only problem standing in your way is the same one that annoyed you in college. Jung Hoseok. How will you manage to spend an entire weekend at a conference juggling impressing your supervisors while simultaneously battling Hoseok?
A/Nâ This super cool banner was made by the one and only @kimtaehyunqâ, thank you so much! Please let me know what you guys think. Feel free to leave a comment or send an ask!Â
The business world has always been mercilessly cutthroat; thatâs one of the first things business students learn when they enter college. The competition to get an internship at a top company was fierce. Recruiting has to start at least a year in advance if you even want to give yourself a chance.
Luckily for you, you were the top student in your program. Well, one of the top students. Over the past four years, your position had been flip flopping with some surprisingly competent bonehead who annoyingly plagued your life.
âExcited to be graduating this semester, ___?â an all too familiar voice interrupted your studying.
âExcited to graduate as top of the class? Yes, of course,â you replied coldly.Â
âTop of the class? Thatâs a little presumptuous, donât you think?â the handsome boy sat on your table.
âI think itâll be pretty much set in stone after this last final,â you returned your attention to your notes.
âWell, even if youâre number one, I think experience matters a lot in this field,â the boy refused to leave you alone.Â
âThen itâs a good thing I did an internship with one of the top companies over the summer,â you glared at him.
âOh yeah, how could I forget about the internship that you stole from me?â the boy pouted.
âI was obviously more qualified. And how could you say that when you stole my opportunity to go on a study abroad trip with my favorite professor last Spring Break? Iâm still furious that he chose you over me solely because you were sleeping with his daughter,â you retorted.
âThat was a coincidence! I donât know how many times I need to tell you that,â he tried to defend himself.
âWhatever. Do me a favor and leave me alone, Hoseok. Hopefully today will be the last time Iâll ever see you.â
âThatâs kind of sad to think about. Who else will get under my skin and annoy me every time they open their mouth?â Hoseok bantered, âAlso, I told you to call me Hobi.â
âThat would imply that weâre on friendly terms. I donât like lying, Hoseok.â
âFine. Good luck on that last final. See you around,â Hoseok hopped off the table and patted your head.
âDonât touch me,â you grumbled as he walked away.
That was five years ago.
The company that you interned with gave you a job offer immediately after graduation. Quickly moving up through the ranks proved to be an easy feat since your tenacious nature made you the ideal employee.Â
You were currently waiting outside of the CEOâs office. Seconds felt like hours as you mindlessly bounced your leg. It was eerily silent, and all you could hear were the click clacks of the receptionistâs keyboard as she worked. You looked around at the bleak dĂŠcor that was a sorry excuse for modernism as you racked your brain. Were you in trouble? Did something happen? You were summoned up for a meeting but had no clue what it was going to be about.Â
Once you were finally called in, you were greeted by both the CEO and VP of the company.Â
â___, please take a seat,â the CEO politely smiled, âAs you know, I am getting old. I am unmarried, so therefore I have no one to oversee the company after Iâm gone. The executive council and I have been looking for people to fill my shoes. Or at the very least, take a seat on the executive council if one of them were to take my place.â
âYour numbers have been exceptional this month,â the VP chimed in, âAnd every month prior. After much deliberation, your name has been cast into the lot.â
You couldnât believe what you were hearing. Being a member of the executive council at your age was almost unheard of.
âThere is one other candidate that has also been hand selected at the other branch. You both are to attend a conference in which you will mingle with executives from other companies. There will also be a time in which you will pitch an idea to me on how to make this company better,â the CEO continued when he saw your loss for words.
âFirst and foremost I would like to thank you for this opportunity. I will do my best to live up to your expectations,â you bowed to show your gratitude.Â
âPerfect. The conference is in two weeks. I believe that should give you ample time to prepare your presentation,â the VP shook your hand.
After shaking hands with the CEO, you turned to leave. However, something was nagging you.Â
âMay I ask who the other candidate is?â you inquired.
âJung Hoseok from the northern branch,â the VP answered without missing a beat.Â
âAh,â your brain exploded.
âDo you know him?â the CEO asked.
âWe went to college together. I know of him,â you said curtly.
âWell youâll finally get your chance to meet him. Iâve heard heâs very popular with the ladies at his branch. Thatâs not pertinent to his skills; however, you canât blame an old man for wanting to know the gossip of his own employees,â the old man chuckled.
âOf course,â you smiled politely as you excused yourself from the office.
Jung Hoseok? That douchebag? Just your luck to run into him again (to fight for the next step in your career no less!). You think back on all the run ins you had with him during your collegiate days. Nothing but irritating memories of the two of you competing for the top spot came to mind.Â
Whatever. It didnât matter who the other candidate was. You had to get to work and come up with a brilliant plan that will impress the CEO. You brushed the thought of Hoseok aside. It had been a couple of years, maybe he wouldnât even remember you. Thereâs no need to stress out over something so trivial.Â
The weekend of the conference had finally arrived. You were instructed to travel together with Hoseok. You waited alone at the airport terminal. If you were lucky, Hoseok wouldnât show up at all. You werenât.Â
â___!â Hoseok called out your name in a sing songy voice.
âHello Hoseok. Glad to see you havenât changed,â you were already irritated.
âHow are you? Itâs been so long. You look great!â he went in for a hug but you turned away.Â
He stood awkwardly with his arms in the air for a second until he bounced back. He took the seat next to you and began chatting. You answered his list of questions apathetically.Â
âDid I do something to offend you?â Hoseok finally asked.
âI just think itâs funny that even after all these years, I still have to compete with you,â you retorted.
âStill hung up on that? It doesnât even matter anymore. We got good jobs and now weâre here. Together! Isnât that cool?â
âNo, not at all. Although I guess it will be nostalgic coming out on top once again,â you smirked.
âYour competitive nature always amused me. Youâre so cute when you lose,â Hoseok teased.
âI never lost to you,â you gasped.
âThatâs not what that one study abroad trip with Professor whatshisname says,â he cooed.Â
âProfessor Namjoon! You knew he was my favorite, you prick. At least I graduated as top of the class with honors,â you argued.Â
âMy GPA was off by thousandths of a point. That doesnât really bother me. But Iâm glad you have something that makes you happy,â Hoseok shrugged.Â
âThis is gonna be one long fucking weekendâ, you thought.Â
The flight was short and pleasant since Hoseok left you alone. You wanted to see as little of him as possible during this trip. You intended to get that promotion no matter what.Â
After the plane landed, the two of you made your way to the hotel that was hosting the conference.Â
âHi, last name ___ and Jung?â you smiled at the hotel concierge.Â
âAh yes, you guys are here for the business conference?â the concierge asked.
âIndeed we are!â Hoseok chimed in from behind you.
âAlrighty, I got you guys all checked in. Enjoy your stay!â the concierge handed you a singular set of keys.
âOh, Iâm sorry, there must be a mistake. Weâre in two separate rooms,â you politely tried to hand back the keys.
âThe reservation is for a singular suite,â the concierge explained.
âProbably cheaper that way,â Hoseok reasoned while nodding.
Your fake smile faltered for a second. How the hell are you supposed to spend an entire weekend sharing a room with the most despicable person on the planet?
At least the hotel itself was grand. There was no way youâd ever be able to afford to stay in such a swanky place. The lobby was decorated with ornate marble pillars that were laced with gold trimmings. It even had a fancy fountain in the middle to greet incoming guests, which you thought was a bit overkill.Â
âExcited to sleep with me, princess?â Hoseok teased, obviously picking up on your annoyance.
âFuck off. Stay the hell away from my bed and my things,â you spat.
âWhoâs to say that you wonât be able to stay away from my bed?â he smirked.Â
âYou wish,â you rolled your eyes as the elevator finally stopped on the top floor.Â
You led the way to your shared suite with Hoseok. The trip was exhausting; you couldnât wait to take a nap on your large luxurious bed that was probably topped with Egyptian cotton (one can dream).Â
You immediately dropped your bags on the side of the room and flopped onto the bed, shutting your eyes.Â
âInteresting,â Hoseok said.
You ignored him.
âVery interesting,â he continued.Â
âWhat? What is so interesting?â you sat up and glared at him in frustration.
âTake a quick glance around the room,â he suggested.
Your heart sank, âNo fucking way.â
You loved this trope in fanfics, but in real life? Fuck no, not with this asshole. Yes, there was only one luxurious king sized bed in the room.Â
âWell, looks like you're going to sleep on the floor,â you smiled sweetly at him.
âThe bed is huge, we can definitely share,â Hoseok argued.
âI think the fuck not,â you dropped back onto the bed, âIâm sure youâll whore your way into someone elseâs bed each night anyway.â
âI donât think I need to, not when Iâm already sharing a bed with you,â he flirted.
âBite me, Hoseok,â you sighed, not in the mood for a tit for tat.
âAre you into that? Iâd happily oblige,â he responded as he sat on the other side of the bed.
âIâm afraid thatâs confidential information that you are not privy to,â you huffed, turning away from him.
âAre you really going to make me sleep on the floor?â he asked quietly.Â
âWould you listen to me if I said I wanted you to?â you were curious to know.
âLook, Iâll admit that I can be an asshole, but Iâm not a creep. If youâre really not comfortable with sharing a bed with me Iâll sleep on the floor. All Iâd ask of you is to spare me a pillow.â
There was a short silence as you mulled over your options.Â
âFine, we can share the bed. But I demand a pillow divider to be set between us,â you caved.
âWahoo! Thank you so much for your generosity, ___. Do you want to use the bathroom to get ready for bed first, or shall I?â Hoseok celebrated.
âIâll get ready first,â you lazily rolled off the bed and trudged to the bathroom.
You were so tired that you missed hearing Hoseokâs soft chuckle as he watched you stumble to the bathroom. He patiently waited for you to finish before it was his turn to get ready for bed. You were sound asleep by the time he was done.
The blankets were haphazardly sprawled out on your side of the bed. One leg was under the covers while the other was completely exposed. Your mouth was agape with a bit of drool seeping out, and your shirt lifted up to expose some of your tummy.
Hoseok smiled at the sight. Never in a million years did he think heâd ever be lucky enough to see you like this. He pulled down your shirt in an attempt to make you look decent, but there was nothing he could do about your drooling. He tucked you into the sheets properly, making sure that the blankets covered you up to your neck.
He settled into his side of the bed. You forgot to put up the pillow divider. Hoseok stared up at the ceiling, unable to sleep. He turned over to face you in an attempt to get comfortable.Â
âShe looks so sweet. Almost cute,â Hoseok thought.Â
He quickly brushed the thought aside. You were his rival, and have been since the first day of college years ago. He sat up and created a pillow barrier. Bickering with you first thing in the morning was the last thing he wanted.Â
The first day of the conference was filled with attending various meetings while attempting to make as many networking connections as possible. You got up early and left the room before Hoseok was even awake. The less time spent with him, the better.Â
Of course, completely avoiding him was impossible. You were to sit with your respective company during the meetings and presentations. The VP sat between you and Hoseok, while the CEO switched between sitting on either side. You were thankful for the separation, but nervous nonetheless.
The CEO would occasionally lean over to ask you questions about the presentations, and he intently listened to your responses. The VP would merely look over occasionally to give you a smile or wink; he acted more like moral support. You knew the entire weekend would practically be an interview, but you underestimated how anxiety inducing it would be.Â
The higher ups finally left you alone when lunchtime came around. You picked up your lunch in the hotelâs decadent ballroom that had been turned into an eating area. You scouted an empty table in the far corner of the room in the hopes of finding some peace and quiet.
Hoseok had other plans. He saw you sit down at the table and happily followed you.
âHey there buddy!â he greeted you as he sat down.
âShouldnât you be networking with new people?â you rolled your eyes at him.
âI could ask you the same thing,â he retorted as he took a bite of his sandwich.
âIâve been doing that since before you were awake. I think I deserve a break,â you replied.
âI forgot that youâre quite the hard worker. I couldnât have asked for better competition,â he said.
âWas that a compliment?â you asked with an amused grin.
âYeah, and itâs the only one youâll ever get from me. Is your pitch to the CEO ready?â Hoseok inquired.
âIt has been. And no, Iâm not going to tell you what it is,â you proudly answered.
âOh câmon! Mine is ready too! Youâre a damn fool if you think Iâm gonna steal your idea. Iâm just curious,â he pouted.
âFine. Iâll tell you if you tell me yours first,â you offered.
âSo distrustful,â Hoseok feigned offense, âOkay, so I think offering higher bonuses for working overtime would be a good start. There could even be competitive bonuses in each department for the person who gets the best numbers that month.â
âThatâs not a bad idea,â you said at first, âBut donât you think that would just create more animosity between coworkers?â
âI think competition is a healthy motivation factor. It worked for me in college,â Hoseok defended his idea.
âEveryone is competitive in college. Especially in the business schools,â you argued.
âYeah, but not everyone is you,â Hoseok stated.Â
âExcuse me?â
âHonestly, I probably wouldnât be here today if you werenât always on my ass,â he admitted, âBeing your rival was kinda fun. You got flustered so easily, it was almost cute.â
âI do not get flustered easily! Plus, it was always you who was on my ass,â you huffed.
âI see that you still do,â Hoseok laughed, âBut seriously. The universe brought us together again so I guess itâs telling me to thank you.â
âThatâs uncharacteristically nice of you to say,â you looked away from him to hide your reddening cheeks, âYou pushed me too, so thanks for that...I guess.â
âMhm, no problem buddy. Iâll see you in the next presentation room,â he got up to leave.
âWait Hoseok!â you called after him.
âYeah?â he turned around quickly.
âI didnât tell you my idea--â
âYou donât have to if you donât want to. Whatever it is, Iâm sure itâs brilliant,â he winked before walking away.
The rest of the day passed by quickly. You retired to your room, exhausted from all the forced socialization. Your mind was stuck on what Hoseok said earlier. Maybe he wasnât as big of an asshole as you thought. Perhaps you mistook a friendly rivalry for toxic competition.
You were sprawled out across the bed in your pjs when Hoseok entered the room.
âAre you gonna sleep like that?â he asked.
âYouâre gonna have to forcibly remove me from your side if you want it that badly,â you replied with your eyes still closed.Â
âThatâs fine,â Hoseok said as he abruptly rolled you over to your side.
âHey!â you squeaked out in protest.
âIt was either that, or I laid on top of you and suffocated you.â
âHmph,â you let out a displeased noise.
âOh my god, youâre so bratty. How old are you?â Hoseok chuckled.
âOld enough to know that youâre a meanie,â your response was muffled by the pillow you buried your face in.
âSorry Iâm a what?â Hoseok teased.
âA meanie!â you quickly got up and slammed a pillow into Hoseok, catching him by surprise.
âIâm the meanie? You just pelted me with a pillow!â he cowered away from you.
âAnd Iâll do it again!â you threatened.
âI donât think so,â Hoseok suddenly lurched forward, tackling you back onto your side of the bed.
Youâre both laughing at this point. Seeing Hoseok up close and personal made you realize how handsome he truly was. Had he always been this attractive? Hoseokâs cheerful laugh echoed throughout the room as he loomed over you, pinning you down.
âIâll get off if you promise not to hit me with a pillow ever again,â Hoseok tried to say in a serious tone, but his smile betrayed him.
âSorry, I canât make such a ridiculous promise,â you sassed.
âGod, you really are so bratty. Kinda cute, kinda naughty,â Hoseok tsked.
âThereâs nothing you can do about it,â you stuck your tongue out at him.
Hoseok leaned down to whisper in your ear, âOh, Iâm sure thereâs something I could do.â
That sent chills down your spine. This was perhaps the most intimate moment youâve shared with someone in a long time.Â
âKeep dreaming then, lover boy,â you said. Truth be told, just that one sentence turned you on, but you couldnât let him know that.
âAs you wish,â Hoseok released you and retreated back to his side of the bed.Â
âMaybe you arenât as big of an asshole as I remembered,â you chuckled.
âYou thought I was an asshole?â Hoseok laughed.
âI did. Maybe I still do. Not that it matters, weâll never see each other again after this stupid conference.â
âThatâs not true,â Hoseok disagreed, âIâll be on the executive council, so you may see me from time to time.â
âI like the confidence. Too bad itâs in vain,â you teased, âIâm going to bed. Our day starts early tomorrow.â
âOur?â
âThe. The day starts early tomorrow. Just go to bed Hoseok,â your turned over to conceal the faint smile on your face. Maybe he wasnât so bad afterall.Â
The second day of the conference started off as boring as the previous day. The various presenters droned on about different strategies regarding the improvement of a company with a plethora of charts and numbers to back it all up. The CEO wasnât as talkative today to either you or Hoseok. The VP still made his reassuring gestures to you, flashing smiles and winks here and there.
âCan I see you privately after the last morning presentation?â the VP whispered to you.
âYes, of course!â you excitedly answer. Currying the VPâs favor may come in handy later.Â
After the last presentation, the VP discreetly led you to a vacant corner. His tone became serious as he began to speak.
âThe CEO discussed his initial thoughts with me last night. I know I probably shouldnât tell you this, but heâs currently leaning towards Hoseok,â he explained.
The news made your heart sink.
âIâd rather see you on the executive council, if Iâm being frank. My pride is on the line since I recommended you,â his voice lowered, âHowever, I think there is a way to sway his opinion.â
âWhich is?â you eagerly asked.Â
âSomeone might overhear here, meet me in my room in an hour,â the VP covertly handed you his room key.
He walked away without another word. The fact that the VP was on your side gave you a faint sliver of hope. The next hour of free time was spent frantically networking while your mind was obviously elsewhere. Every now and then you heard Hoseokâs voice, and just the sound of it spurred you on to make even more connections. By the end of it, your face began to hurt from all the fake smiling.Â
You were standing in front of the VPâs hotel room exactly an hour after your secret rendezvous. The door opened immediately after you knocked.
âYouâre extremely punctual; thatâs wonderful,â the VP observed as you entered, âMake yourself comfortable.â
You scoured the room to find a place to sit. Your uneasiness must have been obvious, as the VP gestured towards the bed.
âThank you,â you said as you awkwardly sat at the edge of the bed, âWhat is your plan?â
âItâs quite simple actually,â the VP sat beside you, âI just need to get to know you better. That way I can give an authentic and flawless review to the CEO.â
âSo, youâre going to conduct an in-depth interview?â you asked timidly as you noticed him scooting closer to you.
âYou could say that,â he voice lowered as he rested his hand on your thigh, âWe have about 45 free minutes remaining. I believe you should make the most of this interview, Miss ___,â he smiled slyly as his hand began to travel upwards.
âHow dare you?!â you yelled as you abruptly pushed him off of you, âIâm going to report you to HR!â
âThen say goodbye to your promotion. You really think you were chosen just because your numbers have been decent? You definitely were not the CEOâs first choice. He didnât even know who you were. If it werenât for me, you wouldnât even be here,â he explained with a shit eating grin.Â
âThen why the hell would you even bring me up to the CEO? Just so you could try and sleep with me?â you were enraged.
âDonât blame me for wanting some eye candy to entertain me during this god awful convention,â he smirked.
âFuck you, you fucking pig,â you spat.
âOhhh feisty. I like that in a girl. If you leave now, you can kiss that promotion goodbye,â the VP called out to you as you stormed towards the door.
âAnd you can kiss my ass, and shove that promotion up yours,â you snapped, flipping him off before slamming the door behind you.
Tears welled in your eyes as you made your way to your room. You were absolutely distraught. Had all your hard work been for nothing? Had you been nothing but a pretty sight for men to stare at for the past five years?
You entered your hotel room to find Hoseok laying on the bed. You quickly wiped away your tears; you hadnât expected him to be there. He appeared to be taking a nap. You watched his chest rise and fall slowly as you snuck into the bathroom. You freshened yourself up to the best of your abilities. Maybe a little power nap would help calm your nerves. Too bad Hoseok was taking up the bed. Fuck.
You left the bathroom to see if maybe you could curl up in one of the corners of the bed. Luckily, Hoseok was on his side of the bed. You set a timer for half an hour and slowly crawled under the covers. Your eyelids felt heavy as you closed them.
âIf you wanted to cuddle you couldâve just let me know,â Hoseokâs voice surprised you.
âWell, I donât. Leave me alone,â you responded.
âWhat if I want to cuddle?â he asked.
âThere is an abundance of perfectly good pillows for you to use,â you sighed, then sniffled a little.
âAre you sick?â Hoseok asked with a worried tone.
âNo, Iâm fine,â you answered quickly, panicking.Â
â___, whatâs wrong?â Hoseok was sitting up now.
âNothing, leave me alone,â you turned away.
âIf you insist, I wonât push it. Just know that you can talk to me if you need to,â he offered.
You heard him get off the bed. You pulled the sheets over your head to hide your face. You cried silently as Hoseok shuffled around the room, presumably getting ready to leave. Suddenly, he pounced on you.
âHoseok! What the fu--â you cried out as he yanked the sheets off of you.
âSurprise attack!â he gleefully exclaimed.Â
His expression quickly changed when he saw your tear streaked face. You looked up at him with puffy eyes. You were too exhausted to hold your cold stare. Instead, you looked away in embarrassment.
â___, what happened?â he asked softly.
âIt doesnât matter. But congrats, you basically got the promotion,â you laughed in defeat.
âYou spoke with the CEO?â Hoseok was shocked.
âNo, with the VP. That stupid son of a bitch. He--nevermind. I blew my chance, so the job is all yours. I am almost positive that I am unemployed now as well,â the tears returned and you couldnât stop them.
âHey, ___, itâs okay,â Hoseok tried to comfort you, âIf the CEO didnât tell you himself, then you canât be 100% certain.â
âI was literally only invited because the VP tried to get in my pants!â you blurted out.
âWhat?â Hoseok was dumbfounded.
âHe just told me that Iâd have the job if I had sex with him. Can you fucking believe that? How long have I not been taken seriously? This has been so demoralizing,â you let it all out.
âAw, câmere,â Hoseok pulled you up and gave you a warm embrace, âWhat did you say to him?â
âI told him to shove it,â you sniffled against his firm chest.Â
âThereâs the you I know. You havenât changed a bit,â he chuckled, âWe can talk to the CEO together tomorrow about this.â
âWhy would you help me? The promotion is basically yours because of this,â you sighed.
âI donât really care for it, if Iâm being honest. Iâm satisfied with my job now. I donât want any more responsibilities,â he answered while stroking your hair.Â
âThen why are you here?â you looked up at him.
âI only agreed to come after they told me that youâd be here,â he admitted.Â
You didnât know what to say. Too many things have happened in the past hour alone.Â
âDonât get it twisted, I was just curious to see how youâve been after all these years. Plus a free trip is always enticing. Getting to share a bed with you has just been an added bonus,â he smiled.
Your timer rang, causing you to break away from Hoseokâs arms.Â
âGuess itâs time to go to more boring meetings. Yay,â Hoseok feigned enthusiasm.Â
âIâm gonna stay here. Thereâs no point in me attending anymore,â you stated.
âNope, youâre going. Iâm dragging you with me! You gotta show the VP that he didnât frazzle you at all. Fuck that guy. Well, not literally,â Hoseok was pulling you out of bed.
Hoseok subtly made sure that you sat between him and the CEO the entire time. You caught him giving the VP dirty looks, which made you feel a little better.Â
You quickly excused yourself after the last meeting and tried to make a break for your room. Unfortunately, Hoseok prevented you from doing so.Â
âYou got a date for the banquet tonight?â he asked.
âNo. It shouldnât be too much of a problem because Iâm not going. Have fun with your date though,â you shook your head.
âWho said I had a date?â
âIâm sure women were basically throwing themselves at you.â
âYouâre not wrong, but I turned them all down. I have my eyes set on one gal.â
âLucky her, I guess,â you rolled your eyes.
âIndeed. Although I still gotta ask her,â he looked around the room as if he was searching for her.
âYou better hurry. Isnât it in a couple hours?â
âYep. Alright, here goes nothing!â Hoseok rushed off, finally giving you the chance to disappear.
You let out a sigh of relief as the elevator doors start to close. However, someoneâs hand shot through at the last second. Hoseok stumbled in as the elevator doors reopened. You groaned. Why canât you escape him?
âDid she say yes?â you asked with an indifferent tone.
âNot sure yet. Will you go to the banquet with me?â Hoseok asked.
âFuck off.â
âAlright, well she just said no. Ouch,â Hoseok clicked his tongue.Â
âWait, are you being serious?â your eyes widened.
âIf the word âdateâ threw you off, then Iâm happy with going as friends,â he proposed.Â
âIâm flattered, but Iâm really not in the mood to party with random strangers.â
âYou donât have to. Just party with me. Why would I let you be sad and mopey all alone in a hotel room when you could be drinking free booze?â
âIs the alcohol is free?â
âDuh, itâs all being charged to the company. Plus dinner is served.â
âOk fine, Iâll go. I guess I didnât pack that stupid dress for nothing.â
âLetâs not allow a gorgeous dress to go to waste,â Hoseok agreed.
âYou havenât even seen it,â you suppressed a smile.Â
âAnything can be gorgeous if youâre the one wearing it,â he winked.
âOh, shut up,â a small smile cracked on your face.
Hoseok was the first to get ready for the banquet. He wanted your look to be a surprise so he insisted on going first. You were beginning to find his weird yet endearing antics kind of cute.
You werenât prepared when he came out of the bathroom. You were well aware that Hoseok was a handsome guy, maybe even handsome enough to model. However, you werenât ready when Hoseok emerged in a grey suit with his hair styled to reveal his forehead. His radiance was comparable to that of the sun, and he only shone brighter when he smiled at you.Â
âYou look good,â you tried to act cool.
âThank you! Iâll admit I do enjoy dressing up from time to time. But who doesnât, am I right?â he beamed.
You nodded as you hauled your things into the bathroom. After about an hour, you were ready: fully dressed, makeup done, confidence soaring. You had forgotten how therapeutic dressing up could be.Â
Your dress was a deep emerald green that was elegant yet seductive. It had a side slit that flirtatiously showed off one of your legs. The neckline gracefully outlined your cleavage while still remaining on the classy side.
âHoly shit. You look amazing!â Hoseok praised you as soon as you stepped out.
âI was only trying to match you,â you said shyly, trying to hide your flushed cheeks.
âI think itâs safe to say that weâll be the most breathtaking duo there. Shall we depart?â he extended out an arm.
The dinner started out with boring speeches by people you didnât care to remember the names of. Hoseok elected to sit at the table furthest away from the stage, which was an excellent choice. That allowed the two of you to chat the night away in hushed voices. You both had already gone through five glasses of wine by the time the speeches were finally over.Â
âThe dance floor is now open! Enjoy the rest of the night, and donât forget that thereâs an open bar!â the MC shouted through the mic.
The lights dimmed and a disco ball lowered in the center of the room. People began to crowd the dance floor. You laughed with Hoseok as you both observed various awkward shuffles and sways.Â
âWanna dance?â Hoseok yelled over the music.
âI canât!â you yelled back.
âIâm sure you can! Letâs go!â Hoseok didnât wait for a reply.
He dragged you to an empty space on the dance floor. The two of you began drawing attention to yourselves as soon as you stepped out. Two beauties were dancing in the open for everyone to see. You shyly swayed to the rhythm of the music and laughed at Hoseokâs silly moves. However, Hoseok began to move in a way that was absolutely bewitching. He looked like a professional dancer with the way he commanded his body to hit every beat. Hoseok had drawn a very large crowd as people began cheering him on.Â
You were amazed by his stage presence. Youâve always had a thing for dancers, and he looked downright sexy. The song ended and Hoseok gave his audience a dramatic bow, awarding him deafening applause.Â
âI didnât know you could dance!â you shouted when he returned to your side.
âI like to dance in my free time! Did you like it?â he shouted back.
âIâll admit it was sexy,â you laughed.
âYou think Iâm sexy?â
âMaybe I do,â you winked.
You had more fun than you expected while dancing with Hoseok. He made you feel secure, so you were able to let loose. You didnât care what you looked like, as long as Hoseok was there with you.Â
The night progressed and you began to feel bold. A particularly raunchy song came on, as if it were asking you to grind on Hoseok. And thatâs exactly what you did. You guided his hands to your hips as you grinded into his crotch
âYou sure you wanna be doing that?â Hoseok spoke into your ear with a low voice.
âAbsolutely,â you replied.
Hoseok spun you around and gazed at you intimately while he brought you closer into his body. Various body parts were rubbing against each other now. The sexual tension was palpable.Â
Hoseokâs hands were running up and down your body, and your mouth was dangerously close to his neck. The scent of his cologne was intoxicating. You couldnât help yourself; you leaned forward to plant a soft kiss on his neck. His low growl was an indication that he liked it, so you kissed him again with more vigor.Â
âYouâre going to have to stop,â he scolded.
âShit, Iâm sorry. Did I overstep your boundaries?â you were embarrassed.
âAbsolutely not. But I canât fuck you out here in public now can I?â he towed you off the dance floor and made a beeline for the elevators.Â
Thank god no one else was in the elevator, neither of you could keep your paws off of each other. Hoseokâs hands were unabashedly feeling you up and down while his crotch was slowly grinding into yours. Your arms were wrapped around his neck as you planted kisses along his sharp jawline.
Hoseok couldnât stop whispering naughty things into your ear during the entire elevator trip up to your shared room. His lowered voice sent chills down your spine as he expressed just how eager he was to finally have you. You felt yourself getting wetter by the second.
âI wanted to strip off that dress the moment I saw you wearing it,â he cooed, âGod, I canât wait to see how beautiful youâll look underneath me.â
âHoseok, do you ever shut up?â you teased with a coy smile.
âI dunno, you might have to make me,â he played along.
âMaybe sitting on your handsome face will do the trick,â you said as you nipped his ear.
âGuess weâll just have to wait and see.â
The elevator doors finally opened, and Hoseok quickly dragged you out. He immediately tore off your dress the moment the hotel room door was closed. You did him the same favor as you frantically unbuttoned his shirt to reveal his toned body.Â
âWhy donât you be a good boy and wait for me on the bed?â you suggested.
âYes maâam,â he complied, his eyes never leaving your body.
âLike what you see?â you asked, turning around slowly to fully show off the lingerie that perfectly complimented your body.Â
âYou are so fucking sexy, ___,â Hoseok smiled in awe.
âIâm so glad you think so. Youâre not too bad yourself,â you winked at him.
You finally joined Hoseok on the bed. You kiss his body from his abdomen all the way up his chest before stopping at his mouth. You took a second to relish the feeling of his plush lips against yours before he deepened the kiss with a ferocious intensity.Â
âWanna try and shut me up now?â Hoseok lifted his eyebrows suggestively once the kiss broke.
âWith pleasure,â you responded as you began to position yourself above him, âWait, do you want me to take this off?â you gestured to your undergarments.
âNo need,â he said before abruptly pulling aside your panties.
You slowly lowered yourself onto his face and stopped when you felt his breath on your pussy. Hoseok impatiently gripped your hips and pulled you directly onto his tongue. The sudden contact made you gasp. Hoseok didnât waste any time getting down to business.
He flattened his tongue out to cover as much area as possible as he licked across your folds. He expertly flicked and lapped your pussy in the perfect places. Your legs began to tremble, and you had to grip onto the bedâs headboard for support.Â
You looked down to see the beautiful manâs face buried in your pussy; that sight alone was almost enough to bring you over the edge. Hoseokâs hands slithered their way up to your chest, where he began to twist and pull at your sensitive nipples through your bra.Â
âYou taste--so good,â Hoseok panted out from underneath you.
âShould I get off--fuck!â you were interrupted by Hoseok sucking on your clit.
His mouth was heaven sent. Your body began to heat up and soon you lost the strength to hold yourself up even against the headboard.Â
You cried out as you came all over Hoseokâs face. His face was glistening with your juices as he smiled up at you. He seductively licked his lips to taste you again.
âYour turn?â you asked.
âAs much as I wanna see your pretty lips wrapped around my cock, I think I need to be inside you more,â he replied as he repositioned himself.
He stripped off the rest of his clothing. You watched with admiration as more of his skin became exposed.
âYou can take off the fancy underwear now,â he said once he caught you staring.
âYou donât want to see it anymore?â you fakeed a pout.
â___, youâre drop dead gorgeous in it. However, I advise you to take it off yourself because I wonât hold back. I donât want to ruin your underwear, just you,â he replied.
Hoseok mixed in little nibbles while he kissed along your neck. Your voice dripped with bliss as you quietly moaned.Â
âI guess you do like being bitten, huh? What about this?â Hoseok licked your neck, causing you to squirm underneath him.
âI think I like that too,â you whispered, biting your lip.
You wriggled out of your undergarments, leaving yourself completely naked in front of Hoseok. You pull at the hem of Hoseokâs underwear, eager to see what he was packing.
You were not disappointed. Although he was well endowed, what he lacked in length was made up for in girth.Â
âDo you want me to use a condom?â he asked.
âIâm on the pill, and Iâm pretty sure Iâm clean. I havenât been intimate in an embarrassingly long amount of time,â you admitted, blushing.
âI find that hard to believe,â Hoseok said while kissing around your face, âSince youâre so damn beautiful,â his lips found yours and led you into a passionate kiss.Â
His hips began to grind into yours, his dick rubbing against your bare pussy. You wrapped your legs around him, bringing him closer.
âPlease donât tease me,â you pleaded.
âWhat are the magic words?â Hoseok teased.
âFuck me, Hobi,â you begged.
âOh my fucking god,â he growled.
He slammed his hips into yours, not giving you enough time to adjust to him. The stretch was intense at first, but it soon turned into nothing but pleasure. Your euphoria grew as he rhythmically bucked his hips into you.Â
Hoseok spread your legs out as wide as you could go, giving him quite the erotic view that only aroused him more. You tried to stifle your moans, but were failing miserably.
âDonât hold back baby, let me hear you. Show me how good I make you feel,â he leaned over to whisper into your ear.Â
You complied instantly, your moans resounding around the room. Hoseokâs position allowed him to hit you deeply with every stroke. Without a word, he pulled out of you and flipped you over onto your knees. He roughly forced your chest down, leaving your ass in the air for him.
âYour ass is so fucking fat,â he said as his hand connected with your bare skin, causing you to shriek.
He kissed it afterward while his fingers teased your clit. He realigned himself with your entrance. This new position was even better than the last. You could no longer hold in your moans even if you wanted to. Hoseok repeatedly hit your g-spot, and you could feel another orgasm welling up within you.
âHobi, Iâm gonna cum,â you cry out.
âSay that again,â he demanded.
âI-iâm gonna cum!â
âNo, not that. Thatâs hot but call me Hobi again,â he chuckled.
âHobi!â you said with an exasperated tone.
âYes princess? Fuck, Iâm close,â Hoseokâs movements were becoming more haphazard by the second.
âHobi, right there oh my god keep going please,â you begged, âHobi...ah shit!â you came undone.
It wasnât long after until Hoseok followed suit, pulling out to cum all over your ass. He rolled off the bed to get something to clean you up with.Â
âHow are you feeling?â Hoseok asked.
âBetter. You?â you answered.
âDoing pretty well. I fucked the girl of my dreams,â he said gleefully.
âShut up,â you playfully pushed him.
âIâm serious. Iâve adored you since college. I lived for your playful banter,â he began to explain.
âIt wasnât playful,â you interjected.
âYeah, I know. But thatâs what made it fun! All the other girls just wanted to be with me for my looks or whatever. None of them knew the real me.â
âAnd I did?â
âMore so than most. You always pushed me to do my best. I really just wanted to be good enough for you. Kind of silly huh? I even dated that girl in an attempt to make you jealous. Which backfired since her dad was Professor whatshisface who took me on that trip,â Hoseok opened up.
âHobi I...Iâm so sorry. I was such a bitch to you back then. And now too I guess. My competitive side gets the better of me. I was always annoyed by how you were seemingly good at everything. It even irritated me that youâre the most handsome man Iâve ever seen in my life,â you began to apologize, âOh, and his name is Namjoon. Professor Namjoon.â
âThanks for reminding me. I hate to admit it but he made me a little jealous. I wanted you to praise me the way you praised him. Anyway, things can change now that everything's out in the open,â Hoseok smiled, âYouâre even calling me Hobi! Iâve been dreaming about this moment.â
âWas it everything you ever hoped for?â you joked.
âYou said it when you asked me to fuck you, then you said it multiple times while I was balls deep inside of you. So yeah, I would say it was everything I couldâve hoped for, if not more,â he pulled you into his chest.
The two of you continued talking for what felt like hours while cuddling. You hadnât been this relaxed in ages. You were nearly asleep on his chest when he stroked a strand of hair from your face.Â
âTomorrow will be interesting, huh?â he said softly.
âI guess I still have to pitch my idea to the CEO,â you sighed softly, âWhat a waste of time.â
âItâs not a waste of time if youâre gonna get the promotion,â Hoseok reprimanded.
âI already told you, Iâm not. The VP will make sure that you get it. This is good for you. Donât worry about me,â you kissed his cheek, âWe should get some sleep now.â
âAlright. Goodnight, ___,â he kissed your forehead.
âGoodnight Hobi.â
âFuck, I really love when you say that.â
It was time. Time to pitch your idea to the CEO for no damn reason. You were beyond nervous, and Hoseok could tell. He tried to ease your nerves by giving you a firm shoulder massage as you both waited to be called into a small conference room.
The VP emerged, ignoring your mean scowl, and called Hoseok in to present first. Of course he would go first, no need to waste time hearing your proposal.
It was an anxiety riddled wait. You recounted the previous dayâs events, which was a mistake because that only infuriated you. The whole situation was an affront on your character, and you will not stand for it. You debated giving the VP another piece of your mind at the end of everything.Â
â___, youâre up,â the VP called you after Hobi finished.
âYouâre gonna kill it,â Hobi encouraged you, coupled with a pat on the back.
âThis is pointless and you know that,â you sighed.
Hobi shook his head in disagreement. It was heartwarming to see how supportive he was being. Maybe it was due to the fact that the job was practically his already. It doesnât matter now.Â
âGood morning gentlemen,â you greet them.
âThe floor is yours, Miss ___,â the CEO responded cordially.
âIâll keep it short and simple. I propose that the best way to improve the company is to shorten work day hours and increase PTO days,â you said confidently.
âIs that it? Can you expound on that?â the VP cynically asked.Â
âYes, Iâm so glad you asked,â you smiled coldly, âStudies show that employees are exponentially more productive when they are happier. Not only will the company become more efficient, but the overall company atmosphere will become more positive. Interpersonal relationships between employees and bosses will improve in an appropriate professional manner,â you glared at the VP.
âThatâs a very interesting take,â the CEO said thoughtfully, âDo you have any suggestions regarding the actual work that the company does?â
âNo sir. The company has been thriving, so I believe that the way things are running now are proficient. However, as a company, we should always be willing to listen to our employeesâ concerns,â you stated.
âYouâve brought up interesting points to the table. As an employee, do you have any concerns youâd like to express?â the CEO asked.
âThere is one pressing matter that comes to mind,â you stole a glance at the VP to see him shift uncomfortably in his seat, âI firmly expect that employee/supervisor relationships should be strictly professional.â
âAre you just giving us your opinion on office romances?â the VP sneered.
âI believe that trying to use intimacy as leverage is highly immoral, if not a fireable offense,â you held your ground.
âOf course,â the CEO agreed.
âThen said employee would simply need to file a complaint with HR,â the VP dismissed you.
âWhat better way to get my complaint heard than speaking directly to the CEO?â you smiled sweetly, âSir, yesterday the man sitting beside you crudely suggested that I sleep with him in order to gain the promotion. He also alluded that all of my accomplishments are for naught, and that I am purely âeye candyâ.â
âIs this true?â the CEO asked his VP in dismay.
âOf course not. Sheâs grasping at straws. Look how desperate she is to get the job,â the VP quickly defended himself.
âI am not lying. I am fully prepared to be fired on the spot. I cannot continue to work at a company that allows this kind of sloppy behavior to go unpunished. Thank you for your time,â you bowed and quickly took your leave.
You released a huge sigh as soon as you were outside of the room. Hobi rushed over to your side. Suddenly, you began to laugh hysterically. Hobi looked at you nervously, obviously concerned about your mental state.
âIsnât it so funny? All my hard work had just been flushed down the toilet by a stupid man drunk on power. I love that!â you wheezed.
â___, ___ calm down. What happened?â Hobi inquired.Â
You told him what just went down. A smile crept across his face as you got to the part where you put the VP on the spot.Â
âI wouldnât count yourself out just yet dude,â Hoseok shrugged, âAll we can do is wait.â
âYeah, Iâll be the first one to congratulate you on your new job. Then Iâll begin my search for a new one,â you gave him a thumbs up.
The VP stumbled out of the room and angrily stomped towards the both of you.
âYou fucking bitch! Who do you think you are? Do you even know what youâve done? I know people. Iâm gonna make sure your life is hell!â he yelled at you.
âThatâs enough! You have been dismissed. I do not want to see your face around here again. Clean out your office on Monday,â the CEO ordered, âWould the both of you please follow me back into the room?â
You both timidly followed him, curious as to what he had to say.
âI apologize on behalf of the company for this incident. This isnât the first time a complaint has been filed against him. Unfortunately, he always told me that they were just futile grasps for leverage and I foolishly believed him. However, his loss is your gain,â he smiled, âHow would you like to be my new Vice President?â
You were agog. Hoseokâs eyes widened as he stood beside you.
âSurely there are more qualified people,â you stammered in disbelief.
âThere definitely are. But none of them are what this company needs. It takes a special person to have their rival pitch all the reasons why you are a better candidate than they are,â the CEO happily nodded.
âI- he what?â you cast a surprised look at Hobi.
âOh yes. He spent all his time highlighting your best qualities as an employee. It was quite a shock,â the CEO smiled.
âI will humbly accept your offer. Thank you so much sir, I will work even harder!â you bowed gratefully.
âThat brings me to Mr. Jung. The position on the executive council is yours, if you want it,â the CEO offered.
âIf the offer is unopposed, then I have no choice but to accept. I will do my best!â Hobi joined in your bowing.Â
âWonderful! Itâll be refreshing to see some lively young faces at those atrocious meetings,â the CEO laughed, âOh, and one more thing. The two of you will have to relocate to the main branch, I hope thatâs okay. I look forward to working with both of you.â
You both nodded gleefully. After the CEO dismissed the pair of you, the trip back up to your hotel room was nothing but joyous. It was like you were in a dream that you never wanted to wake up from. You even pinched each other to make sure it was all real.Â
âI canât believe you were advocating for me,â you hugged him.
âYou deserve it. Your impressive diligence should not go unrewarded,â he squeezed you tighter, âPlus, this ended up being pretty sweet! Congratulations to both of us!â
âWe need to go out to celebrate!â you wiggled.
âYes! Let me take you out,â Hobi tackled you onto the bed.
âWhere shall we go?â you playfully ask.
âMaybe we should go explore our new city together?â he suggested.
âOur?â
âYes, our. And when I say Iâm gonna take you out, I mean as a date. Because I want to date you. And have been wanting to for years,â Hoseok charismatically emphasized.
âIâm looking forward to starting this new chapter of my life with you then, Mr. Jung Hoseok,â you press your forehead against his.Â
âImma be all up in your bidness girl,â he joked.
âYour business is my business now loser,â you teased back.Â
Looks like all that hard work had paid off, and thereâs no better reward than finally being with Jung Hoseok. Â

" wow... you look... you look amazing. " for peter please? i love love love ur writing btw!
NOTE: This... ended up so embarrassingly long... i don't even know what the word count is, but i can bet it's a good 20%-30% longer than the average blurb.
WARNINGS: cursing, quirky𤪠mentions of drug use, implied making out (but can be perceived as sex, dear god please donât perceive it as sex though), and some good olâ fashion stark!ready x peter parker banter
They say, "never meet your heroes." Well, Peter wished he had adhered to that warning before he ended up here â a lanky, overdressed thumb towering high above the roof of the Avenger's Compound.
A semi-annual assembly of New York City's finest heroes that had little to do with their civic duties, and much to do with their inhibitions, and just how much alcohol it would take to release them â but there was one glaring problem.
Peter didn't drink.
He never saw the allure, especially when it came at such a high risk. He'd convinced himself that he refrained for the sake of Aunt May, the only remaining part of his family who put her life on the line to ensure his safety and overall well-being â the Spider-Man reveal already took some getting used to, he didn't need to add drunken night expenditures to her overnight fretting. Yet, when Flash's 'End of the Year' party had been raided by the police, a small part of him found joy in knowing he needn't fear the police or their breathalyzer test, even if he was deemed Pussy Parker for the remainder of that summer.
Even if he wanted to instill some liquid courage into himself, he hadn't the basic courage to let himself be vulnerable like that, in front of all the adults that made up the Avengers. Mr.Stark had already commented on his only suit, and how small he looked as it swamped his form, and the entire altercation made him wish the roof would just open up and swallow him whole.
Bullies, you'd call them.
There they were, New York's finest Defender's, huddled around the Mastrangelo like it couldn't put their entire life savings to shame, hosting a rousing game of beer pong upon its marble exterior. Your father was lucky your mother was still in Milan, tying up loose ends on a new line of bullshit you didn't concern yourself with. You just counted the days until she returned home, and you could soak up every ounce of her nurturing presence.
God, did you miss her.
Itâs not like your father wasnât just as nurturing, competitively so, to a point were you almost felt smothered â but you were too alike. In spaces where you both held too stubborn, your mother was there to mediate, and with ceaseless barrages of dry humor came her firm, unwavering severity, proving her love with candid remarks instead of jesting quips.
âOh, free intern!â He dragged you from your nostalgic supercut with your endearing nickname, coaxing a fierce glare from your hues. âRun down to that place on 7th street and get some beer? And not that Miller Coorâs Bud bullshit, the upper echelon on Sigma Delta Nu delicacies.â
Jesus Christ.
You had caught glimpses of his argument with Steve, complaining about how stupid it would be to pour anything top shelf into a red solo cup â blasphemous really â but you didnât expect him to do anything more than concede.
"Father of the year, everybody." You clapped just above your head, prompting the remaining company to join you. "I think you're forgetting that I'm not twenty-one."
"First and foremost, I know I am," Tony counters your triumphant grin with a sarcastic one. "Which is how I know that your fake ID says 21."
"Stark, it's fine. I can grab the beer," You thanked God and her impeccable timing once Steve interrupted, settling himself between the two of you with outstretched palms. "I could use the fresh air anyway."
You mimicked Steve's stance, cocking your brows toward your father. "See? Problem solved. Now leave me alone."
Losing interest in the company exponentially, you started to retreat, but groaned once your father's voice pierced the air again. "Nuh-uh-uh, Rogers. Why? So you can go to the nearest GNC and snort a container of protein powder? I don't think so."
You retreat to the furthest recesses of your mind as Tony and Steve bicker back and forth about honesty and friendly competition. Steve wouldn't know how to bump a rail if the U.S Army assembled a thorough, interactive training course on it, and his age quadrupled the life expectancy of most snow-packed socialites. Yet, on the other hand, you were shocked that your father even knew what a GNC was â ultimately, you were riled from your thoughts by an irksome realization.
"Are you fucking- Why can't old man Jenkins do it?" you gestured wildly toward the enhanced super soldier in question, blind to the obvious offense scrawled across his features. You seldom took your opulent lineage for granted, but when situations such as these presented themself, a selfish corner of your mind wondered what it would be like to have a run-of-the mill, cheesy-pun equipped, golf short wearing father. "You'd rather risk your daughter's own safety, and the sanctity of her criminal record, for a stupid game of beer pong?"
Natasha's incredulous laughter chimed between your incessant back and forth, spurred by the uncanny resemblance you and your father shared between every aspect imaginable â your dry wit just so happened to be in the spotlight.
"Yes," He didn't bother to meet your glare, already familiar with its scorching beam against the side of his face "Yes I would."
Hues practically rolled into the back of your skull, exaggerating your every move to a thespian level to make it clear, to even the boniest of heads, that you didn't take pleasure in this task. You were so excited to finally unwind at this event â slam down the sugary mocktail your Uncle Thor always "forgot" to order virgin, dangle your feet over the shallow end of the pool, maybe even shoot a few low jests at Bucky if there wasn't a carnal gleam in his eyes.
Your thrilling plans were now put on hold just to support your father's mid-life crisis.
"I know, I know." He tried to repeat the name of the wine stop nâ shop, only for you to wave him off. He wasnât wrong â you had been abusing your fake ID in that very stop nâ shop for years, though youâve recently come to the conclusion that the cashier was far more interested in your chest than your credentials. "If I get arrested, I'm bring you down with me. I'll tell Business Insider that FRIDAY's just one, big elaborate ruse for the underground Fake ID business you have on the side. They'll eat it up like-"
"Love you, honey! I'll venmo you!" He butt in, sending you off with a wave of his fingers.
You flipped him off, shouting an earnest 'I love you' in return. There was no denying that you loved each other, some would even argue that he loved you more than he loved himself â you just chose to show it in your own, eccentric way.
Mere seconds into your newfound task, you stopped dead in your tracks. You could make out that bed of chestnut locks anywhere.
"Parker?" Swiftly surveying his frumpy attire, you struggled to stifle the upward tilt of your lips. Even as he stood uncomfortably before you, visibly seconds away from crawling out of his own skin, he still managed to be the sweet, endearing Peter you knew and loved. "God, I didn't even realize that was you."
You didn't have the heart to tell him that you caught one fleeting glimpse of him at the very beginning of the festivities and thought he was a part of the catering company, nor did you feel a need to disclose the snide remark you whispered into your father's ear about the miserable staff. There was no sense in kicking a dead horse while it was already down.
His gaze weighed heavy against your frame, though, bolstered by an overwhelming intensity that forced you to wonder if he could read your mind. Though, if you could tap into his thoughts, you'd be shocked to find a reflection of your own â bewilderment, adoration, the tell-tale signs of a burgeoning crush, and the myriad of excuses that disputed them.
He could only manage to stumble over his words, complimenting you with sentiments that could never amount to the emotions welling in his chest. "Wow... you look... you look amazing."
And you couldn't argue, not with the way you were pampered hours prior. Mercier had smothered your hair in this honey-infused serum that made your curls bounce to life with each step, and the custom Jacquemus silhouette you were sporting hugged every ample curve enticingly so. You felt like a million bucks, and you probably cost that much give or take, so why deny it?
Peter, on the other hand â Well, he was very lucky that he was so cute, and his jawline could probably cut Vision's infinity stone straight out of his skull. It almost made up for the tragic shape of his suit, and just how tragically out of place it was at this event.
"You look, um-" Softness tugged at the corner of your eyes as they crinkled dotingly. "You look very cute."
"That was a very convincing half-truth." He chuckled, a subtle pink hue blooming over the valleys of his cheeks."
"Oh, so a part of you knows you're cute." You teased, enjoying the way the pink hue grew deeper.
"Oh! Oh, no... No, I mean, kind of? On the scale of confident perspectives, I think-uh-cute... Cute is on the lower end? And you know what? My Aunt May-"
"Peter, you wanna get out of here?" You interrupted him, hoping to save him from all the words he had yet to stumble over. "And then immediately come back?"
"Yeah," He vigorously nodded his head, despite being equally as confused. "Yeah, I'd like that a lot."
"Come," You offered your hand, a small gesture the two of you have woven into your complicated relationship.Â
You'd tend to straddle a very thin line between friendship and something more, reaping all the warm, tentative affections of newfound lovers without explicitly considering yourselves so. The both of you, for as brilliant as your merits show, continued to convince yourselves that the hand holding, the comfortable silences, the mornings plastered against each other's sides, were simply happenstance. Despite the increasing willingness of each encounter, you'd only ever chalk it up to chance. So when you offered your hand out to him, he took it in stride â because the two of you would indulge in every ounce of attention you could get your hands on, at least until one of you inevitably came to your senses and found someone worth your time.
Your fingers were firmly intertwined as you led him to the roofâs exit, tugging him down the staircase and through the vacant halls of the top floor just in time to catch the elevator. You found no reason to keep his hand hostage once you were inside, so you begrudgingly retracted yours. You swore you could hear a pitiful huff come from his side of the elevator, but you chalked it up to wishful thinking.Â
Now it was just you and Peter, left to your own devices, and roughly ninety-two floors away from your destination. Just enough time to do what you were aching to do.
âPeter,â You murmured, and his gaze flickered to your own without a moment of hesitation, drenched in a hopeful haze you failed to decipher.
âY/N?â He echoed, tilting his body toward your own.
âYou look...â You paused, unsure of which word accurately portrayed your thoughts. âinsane.â
âI know.â He whined. You tried to stifle the giggle that bubbled at his hopeless demeanor, brows furrowed together as he squeezed his eyes shut, shoulders slumped impossible low.
âItâs a good thing you have such a charitable friend.â And you made light work of his suit jacket, the air suddenly rapt with a thick air of electricity as you worked the offending article off his shoulders, haphazardly tossing it on the ground. Protests formed on the tip of his tongue, but he opted to swallow them in return for your help, going slack when you ran your fingers through his meticulously gelled hair.
Though he embodied the vision of a suave, debonair socialite alarmingly well, with his carefully quaffed locks, nothing suited him as well as the pillowy, fawn tendrils that made up his soft curls. You needed them back, needed a reminder of your sweet, darling boy, and patience was never your strong suit.Â
You wondered if he was in need of the same reminder, seeing as heâd let you manhandle him without so much as a hum of discontent.
All done. Only a few revisions, and he was a completely different boy. Clad in a crisp, white shirt, sans its horrifying grey counterpart, you rolled the sleeves up to his elbows and unbuttoned the top three discs. The fabric was taut against his impressive set of muscles, leaving little to the imagination with each sweeping roll of his arms. Youâd pat yourself on the back, but you were too busy drooling all over your work.
âIs- Is this good?â He broke the silence with a tentative query, peering back at you through his lashes.
"Yeah,â You voice came out strangled at best, distracted by the flurry of butterflies ravaging your stomach. There was something about this moment â maybe it was the glint of tenderness ridding his gaze, or your tight proximity, or maybe it was fate, finally persuading you to topple over that dangerous line â but regardless, you decided it was now or never. âbut there's still something missing,"Â
âMy jacket?â He breathlessly queried. His eyes frantically searched your face, like he couldnât settle on just one feature to admire.
âNo, no...â You breathed back, cautiously inching closer, until there was only a sliver of space separating your chests. "You need to loosen up, Parker."
âAnd what- What do you suggest I do?â His gaze flickered down to your lips shamelessly, and returned just as quickly.Â
âDo you trust me?âÂ
âIâve trusted you this far.â
âGood,â You sighed, your breath fanning over his lips before you greedily chased its warmth, kissing him with such feather-light pressure, it almost felt like a dream â a thrilling, delicate dream. You had to tear yourself from his lips before you delved even deeper, hoping to find a mirror image of your relief, your satisfaction, in his own features. However, before your eyes even fluttered open, his palms swept under the curve of your jaw, and coaxed your mouth back to his, instantly qualming any of your fears as you both melted into the exchange. He tasted of spearmint, and cherries, and something so intoxicatingly him that you could barely restrain yourself.
You wanted him, God, did you want him, and for the first time, someone wanted you just as much, without an ounce of greed to it â He wanted you for you.
The remaining seconds of the elevator ride were filled with fervent kisses, and wandering hands, your fingers playing with the curls at the nape of his neck while his bunched the silky fabric of your dress. It was all smitten, indulgent brushes of your lips until the elevator dinged, and the doors opened up to reveal the fashionably late, dynamic duo âSam Wilson and James Buchanan Barnes.
Their expressions were nothing short of priceless, one complexion green while the other ran pale at the sight of your interwoven limbs. You tried to open your mouth before they could comment, but you were far too late, buried in a booming wall ofâ
"This is a public space! You are defiling a public space!"
"I can't do thisâ I'm gonna take the stairs."
Their voices weaved into a messy, irritated harmony of disbelief, managing to still complement each other despite their varying levels of urgency.
An idea, a selfish, evil idea, popped into your head, and you enacted it before you could even unravel yourself from Peterâs hold.
"You just reminded me, I was about to text you! My dad needs a couple cases of Yuengling.â You gestured for Peter to press on the âOpen Doorâ button, and by the time he started clicking the prompt, youâd already fetched your wallet, fishing your card out for Sam. âThey probably have some at the corner store, but heâll throw up if he finds out he was drinking alcohol from the corner store, so youâre gonna have to walk down to that market on Seventh.â You could feel Peterâs perplexed gaze gnaw at your shoulder, but you persisted in your impish pursuits, shoving the AmEx into his hand.Â
âChop chop, lover boys!â You hastily snapped your fingers in his direction, and yelled just loud enough to make sure Bucky accompanied him, parsing their punishment out evenly.Â
Served them right, encroaching on such a perfect moment.Â
Buckyâs groan echoed through the stairwell, followed by a childish stomp of combat boots, and you were pleased enough to shoo Peterâs hand away, pressing the âClose Doorâ button.
Sometimes it was nice being Tony Starkâs daughter â less backtalk from the sovereign throne of comebackdom.
âI thought you said we were getting out of here.â His brows were pinched together, the most adorable little frown forming between them.
âOh, we most certainly are,â You replied, pressing the button for your floor. You could tell that the pieces werenât clicking all the way, and you proceeded to spell it out for him, dropping a chaste kiss to the spot just below his ear. âWeâre gonna go to my room. And then weâre gonna go right back to the party when weâre done.â
âWhen weâre done?â He mused, voice wavering beneath the soft caress of your lips, scattering even more tentative kisses down the column of his neck.
âWhen weâre done.â You parroted back, meeting his downward gaze through your lashes.âI think you still have some loosening up to do.â

After working the same rough and hectic shift, Carlos and TK share a calming bath to wash away the dayâs tension and stress. Being in each otherâs arms eases their worries and uplifts their spirits.

It had been a long, hectic shift for Carlos and TK.
A never-ending shift of one call after another, as TK dubbed it in one of the few texts he had managed to send Carlos in between blaring bells.
And it appeared from Carlosâs reply of tell me about it that he was going through the same thing.
They had met on a few calls scattered over the hours, and every time, the other man looked slightly more tired and drained. Still, though, theyâd give each other small smiles that held the promise of going home to each other when their frantic shifts would finally come to an end.
After returning to the firehouse from their final call, TK robotically made his way to the showers, while chanting hallelujah over and over in his head as he stepped under the warm spray of water.
TK absolutely loved his job, his found family, but some days it would get so exhausting to the point where TKâs knees shake, threatening to give out on him. He holds on, proceeding to also robotically change into his civvies and throw his backpack over his shoulder.
He tells everyone good night as he makes his way towards the Uber, sighing as he drops against the backseat. He then unlocks his phone to send Carlos a message.
TK: Hi, babe. Just moved from the station heading home. Canât wait to see you.
TK slips the phone back into his pocket and sits in silence until the car pulls up to the condo.
TK whispers something along the lines of thank you to the driver, stumbling up the porch stairs and to the front door, pushing his key into the keyhole. The condo is dark, the missing Camaro from the driveway was TKâs first clue that his boyfriend wasnât home yet.
He flicks on a light, toeing his shoes off near the door and drops his keys into the bowl sitting on a table near the door. His phone pings in his pocket as heâs walking into the kitchen to grab a bottle of water.
He fishes out his phone to see a new text from Carlos.
Carlos: Hey, baby. Canât wait to see you, too. I just need to finish some paperwork before I get out of here. Iâll be home as soon as I can.
TK: Just arrived home. Take your time, baby. Iâll be waiting for you.
TK sighs again, walkingâor more like dragging his feetâup the stairs and into their bedroom. He falls backwards against the bed, closing his eyes as his body collides with the soft mattress, a much-needed sensation after the day heâs had.
He feels bad that heâs finally home and can relax while Carlos is still at the station, working. In hindsight, TK had wished he had gone to the station to meet Carlos there and then theyâd go home together.
TK nods to himself, making up his mind. He grabs his phone to text Carlos again.
TK: Let me know when youâre on the way.
He lies back on the bed, scrolling mindlessly through his Instagram and loses track of time. Heâs liking a post here and then when a notification from Carlos pops up at the top of his screen.
Carlos: Heading out now.
TK gets to his feet then and steps into the bathroom, turning on the tap in the bathtub and pushes the drain-stopper down. He quickly retrieves Carlosâs favorite candles, some vanilla scented, others lavender, from the bedroom and sets them carefully around the space, lighting each one as the tub fills with hot water. He also grabs the organic mint-scented body wash he and Carlos share and drizzles a good amount in the water, watching it foam up.
TK is looking forward to taking care of Carlos, after the long day theyâve endured. Heâs also doing it for himself if heâs also being honest, because he can feel the aches already setting in his muscles and the warm water definitely helps there. But taking care of Carlos is his priority. Besides, that always help him feel better, too.
And TK knows Carlos always appreciates a good bath.
Looking around the bathroom, the paramedic nods, satisfied with the setup.
He hears keys rattling, followed by his name being called a few minutes later.
Downstairs, Carlos discards his keys into the bowl with TKâs and places his wallet next to it. He stretches his neck, moving his head backwards and then side to side until some of the tension there eases.
âUp here!â
Carlos looks in the direction of TKâs voice, and notices the hallway and bedroom lights are switched on. He wills his tired legs to ascend the stairs, and then steps into the bedroom, eyes immediately searching for TK. When they donât find his boyfriend, he realizes the other man must be in the bathroom.
Before joining him, Carlos unpins his badge from his uniform shirt and removes his belt, unclipping his service weapon as he goes. He crouches in front of the bottom section of his closet, sliding the door over to reveal his safe. He punches in the code, the lock clicking and Carlos places the items inside before locking the safe.
He groans when his knee cracks as he gets to his feet, kicking off his shoes and wasting no time in heading to the bathroom. He just really wantsâand needsâto see TK, to hold him, to kiss him.
The sight heâs met with makes his tired face light up and tugs the corner of his lips upwards.
âWelcome home, babe,â TK smiles from his place, now lying in the tub with his arms resting on either side of the marble.
âWhatâs the occasion?â Carlos asks with an amused lifted eyebrow.
TK shrugs. âDo I need a reason to pamper my boyfriend?â
A blush colors Carlosâs cheeks as his smile widens.
âCare to join me?â TK extends a hand towards Carlos.
âWouldnât miss this for the world,â Carlos expresses, hands already working to unbutton and remove his shirt, followed by his undershirt and pants.
As soon as he kicks his boxer-briefs away, he takes TKâs offered hand, holding on to it as he lowers himself into the warm water, sitting between TKâs legs. Moments like these and sharing a bath with TK, always reminds Carlos how grateful he is that he picked a condo with a bathtub big enough to comfortably fit two adults.
Carlos lets out a satisfied sigh as soon as his body is immersed, closing his eyes as he falls back against TKâs chest.
He hears TK chuckle from behind and feels the younger manâs arms go around his waist, effectively pulling him even closer into his hold.
âBesides, weâve both had incredibly long shifts, I think we deserve this,â TK adds.
âHm,â Carlos agrees.
âYou deserve this, babe. Youâve been working so hard lately.â
Carlos blindly finds TKâs arms with a hand and gives him a squeeze where it lands on an arm.
âI got you, baby,â TK promises.
âYou always do,â Carlos responds, dropping his head against TKâs shoulder.
TK moves his head and brushes a soft kiss to Carlosâs temple, feeling the officer gravitate towards his touch.
Comfortable silence settles between them for a while, both of them enjoying finally being in each otherâs arms and letting the water wash the dayâs troubles away.
âThank you for this, Ty,â Carlos whispers. âI really needed it.â
TK nods, nuzzling his face against the back of Carlosâs head. âOf course, baby. Anything I can do to help. Do you wanna talk about it?â
Carlos shakes his head after a moment of thought. âMaybe later. Right now, this is all I need.â
âOkay,â TK replies.
âCouldnât wait to get home to you,â Carlos speaks after a moment.
âCouldnât wait to have you right here,â TK responds, pressing a sweet kiss to Carlosâs shoulder.
To Carlosâs very tense shoulder.
TK pulls his arms from around Carlos, and the slightly bigger man lets out a disappointed sound at the loss of TKâs touch.
âJust for a minute,â TK reassures his boyfriend. âYouâre gonna like this, trust me.â
Carlos trusts TK with his life, but he also already misses TKâs warmth.
However, TKâs assessment of Carlos liking whatever he planned is proven right soon enough, as TK gently uses his thumbs to massage and rub at the heavy knots sitting in Carlosâs muscles.
TK smiles at the heavy groan Carlos breathes out, knowing itâs helping his boyfriend.
âThatâs it,â TK whispers. âLet me take care of you.â
Carlos wishes he could turn around and kiss TK in this moment, but between the warm water and TKâs tender ministration, he feels his bones and muscles turning into jelly.
TK pushes down slightly harder, loosening up the worst of the tension he finds, feeling satisfied himself when Carlos sags back against him, clearly feeling a little better.
âThatâŚGod, Ty, I needed that, so much.â
âYeah, I could tell,â TK chuckles. âAre you feeling better?â
âMuch,â Carlos nods.
Before returning to their previous position, TK cups some water into his palms and places them over Carlosâs head, letting the water run through the officerâs hair and down his neck. Carlos seems to be onboard with this, as well, because heâs tilting his head backwards a little in TKâs direction.
TK takes the hint and repeats the action a few more times, until Carlosâs hair is damp. TK then slowly cards his fingers through Carlosâs soft curls, the product he applied that morning long gone now.
With a kiss to Carlosâs neck, TKâs arms return to Carlosâs middle, wrapping around him and holding him close once again.
âWe both have a day off coming up soon, we can do whatever you want,â TK says.
âJust wanna spend it with you.â
âWe can most definitely do that. We can sleep in, have late breakfast in bed, lots of cuddles and oh! We can bake,â TK plans, almost giggling at the idea of baking. Itâs one of his favorite things to do with Carlos in their downtime. He mostly sits on the counter while Carlos does most of the baking, but TK also sometimes helps with the batter.
âSounds perfect, baby,â Carlos smiles, closing his eyes and resting his head back against TKâs shoulder. âBrownies or cookies?â
âHmm,â TK contemplates for a few seconds. âCookies, chocolate chip cookies.â
âMy specialty,â Carlos replies.
They really are Carlosâs specialty. TK remembers taking a batch of chocolate chip cookies into work one day for everyone, and the crew had gone absolutely mad over them. The huge tupperware container was empty in a matter of minutes.
TK smiles at the memory, remembering not only his teamâs joy for the delicious cookies, but also Carlosâs delight and pride when TK told him what had gone down.
The water starts cooling a few minutes later, both men feeling it and a shiver runs through Carlosâs body.
âI think itâs time to get out,â TKâs the first to say. âWe can order in and watch a feel-good movie.â
âAs tempting and comforting as that sounds, I donât think I can really rely on my legs to carry me right now,â Carlos chuckles.
TK giggles along and helps Carlos into a sitting position.
âCome on, Iâll help,â the paramedic says, making sure Carlosâs grip on both sides of the marble is secure before stepping out of tub and grabbing a towel, wrapping it around his waist. He prepares a towel for Carlos before moving back towards him, holding out a hand to the officer.
Carlos takes TKâs hand but instead of using it to pull himself up, he pulls TK closer to him. And this time he does kiss TK, closing the distance between them by capturing TKâs lips with his own.
TK, albeit a little surprised, immediately opens up to Carlos, deepening their passionate kiss. His other hand instantly travels to the nape of Carlosâs neck, settling there and he gives Carlos an encouraging squeeze. They pour everything into the kiss, their worry for each other, their concern, their relief for the otherâs safety. The kiss has infinite layers to it, and Carlos and TK visit each and every one of them.
Eventually the need for air to wins and they separate. They donât pull back completely, their foreheads still touching, each of them breathing a little heavily with identical kiss-swollen lips. They breathe each other in, taking it all in.
âLets get into something comfortable and continue this on the couch,â Carlos whispers into the small space between them.
TK nods and with another light kiss to Carlosâs mouth, he pulls back. He hands Carlos the towel when heâs out of the tub, and they make their way back into their bedroom.
They find themselves nestled against each other on the couch once theyâre dressed in comfortable t-shirts and sweats (TK had also grabbed Carlosâs old police academy hoodie on their way down, knowing heâll be wanting to slip into it later during the night) with Carlos flipping through Netflix.
TK is lying between the officerâs legs, an arm draped over Carlosâs thigh with his back against his chest, his other arm is placed over the one Carlos has wrapped around TK.
âHere,â Carlos says as he hands TK the remote control. âPick a movie.â
They sit in silence as TK scrolls through the list, Carlos watching him with a fond smile decorating his face.
âHey,â Carlos whispers.
TK turns to face him, his features filled to the brim with love and affection.
âI love you, Ty.â
A big smile spreads on TKâs face, his green eyes turning soft. âI love you too, âLos.â
He leans in, claiming Carlosâs lips in a tender kiss.
They settle back when they pull apart, Carlos planting a kiss to TKâs head.
He inhales the scent that is all TK, and he feels comfort brewing in his gut, he feels safe, he feels whole. He feels lighter as the worries of the day seep away.
Lying on the couch, with TK in his arms, Carlos is home.
And when TK nuzzles his body backwards and moves closer into Carlosâs hold, Carlos knows in his heart that TK is home, too.

A Song for the Sea
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Pairing: Finan x OFC
Warnings: some violence, held against their will, forced marriage, hints of abusive relationship
~ ~ ~ ~
Her eyes were like the sea before a storm. Blue and green marbling together. They spoke to him. Of depths hidden under their surface. Of secrets and sadness.Â
Finan could not keep his eyes from searching for her. He yearned to fall captive to their stare once more.Â
While walking through the street of Coccham, his eyes were roving every face for a glimpse of those startling eyes. Â
Osferth at his side, they meandered through the market expecting that they would find them looking to replenish supplies for their journey.Â
~~~~~
Muireann and her husband, Cael had docked at Coccham a few days prior.Â
Upon their arrival, Cael asked to speak with the Lord Uhtred. He claimed to be a trader of fur and wished to stay on in the burg a few days while a storm that was following them passed.Â
He had a large amount of seal skin pelts he was willing to trade for the lord's permission.Â
Uhtred agreed to allow them safe harbor.Â
After showing them to the townâs tavern where they could pay for a room for a few nights, Uhtred informed his men that Cael and his wife were to be watched closely. He did not get an honest feeling from them. Sihtric and Osferth both agreed with their lord's appraisal of their new visitors. Finan was glad he was not alone in his judgements either.
Cael had a sly demeanor and Uhtredâs first impression was that he was either a spy (though for whom he did not know) or was looking to cheat the good people of Coccham out of their money. As a young man, Uhtred had experience with men such as these. They were not to be trusted. Several pieces of their story did not sit well with the men. Why was a trader traveling with only himself and his wife? And by boat?Â
Then there was the fact that Muireann kept her head down and was completely subservient to her husband. Finan knew that many marriages worked in such a fashion but it was not something he ever enjoyed witnessing. He firmly believed marriage should be a partnership. He saw that exemplified in Uhtred and Giselaâs marriage. The same could be said for Sihtric and his wife. Â
Muireann did not appear to be a threat. Instead, she gave him the feeling that she had something to hide. Some secret kept hidden from the world. This sense became pronounced when Muireann took his outstretched hand to board the dock from their small trading boat.Â
She had looked up as her feet hit the boards and their eyes locked.Â
And Finan was lost.Â
He could become lost in those stormy eyes for eternity and he would not have cared.Â
She had taken a sharp inhale of breath when their eyes met. Finan knew that she had felt some connection. Some pull. There was a meaning to their meeting on that dock, suspended above the rising waters and murky depths.Â
âThank youâŚâ she whispered, leaving her words hanging in the air like mist off the sea.
âFinan. I am called Finan, lady.â
âFinanâ She repeated. And he could have listened to her lovely voice speak his name for 1,000 years.
âMuireann!â Cael spoke her name with a harsh bark.
Instantly, Muireann dropped Finanâs gaze and made a hasty apology. She practically ran to her husbandâs side as Uhtred escorted them to the tavern.
Finan watched her leave and felt his world shift. He knew something had just changed for him. And Muireann was the cause of that change.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~Â
Back at the market.Â
It took several more minutes before Osferth and Finan spied Cael and Muireann at a stall on the far end of the market. Close to the harbor. This was likely so they could keep an eye on their boat and itâs content. Muireannâs gaze was constantly shifting to stare across the water. As they approached, Finan watched her. Her eyes continued to return to the water. Her gaze betrayed a sense of yearning. Â
âOur lord would like it if you and your wife could join us in the hall for supper.â Finan said as he approached Cael. âHe knows youâll be departing soon and wishes to send you off with full bellies.â His Irish brogue lilted.Â
~~~~~~
The pair had stayed in the village tavern, paying for one of their upstairs rooms. For several nights, a strong storm had indeed blown through the harbor at Coccham. In that time, one or more of Uhtredâs men had staked a claim drinking and cajoling with the other tavern guests.Â
Everyone agreed that the couple gave them the sense of concealed secrets. What the men could not discern was if that secret would be of any importance to them or to Coccham. Â
Finan had volunteered to be at the tavern more than the rest of the men. Sihtric had a family and much preferred spending his free time at home when they were not required to be traveling with Uhtred. And Osferth enjoyed the tavern but would have struck everyone as behaving oddly if he had hung around the tavern by himself. He was not one to drink unless with the rest of the men.Â
Finan admitted to himself that he was happy to take most of the time at the tavern. The fact was he was desperate to see Muireann again and determine what spark her eyes had ignited in him. He could not shake the feeling that she needed him somehow. And he needed her.Â
He felt a sense of urgency where she was concerned.They hadnât said more than a few pleasantries to each other and yetâŚ
Finan did not believe in destiny like Uhtred. Neither did he NOT believe in it. He had never felt the need to put much stock in it either way. But he found himself thinking about it now. On destiny and Muireannâs eyes.Â
~~~~~~
Back at the market
âThat is very generous of your lord. My wife and I would be honored to eat at his table. Please give him our regards.âÂ
âYes please tell lord Uhtred and the lady Gisela that we look forward to it. Thank you, Finanâ Muireann says while meeting his gaze.Â
The pull was there once again. Just as strong as before. Finan had to stop himself from reaching out to her. Time had slowed and sounds around them had become muffled.Â
Muireann was shaken from their reverie as her husband called her name.Â
Cael had shifted to a further stall after giving a farewell to Osferth. Muireann dropped her head and folded her arms across herself as she said goodbye.Â
âComing,â she called to her husband.
She took a final glance at Finan and then shifted her eyes towards the harbor. There, several seals were perched on a rock.Â
âThatâs an odd sight,â Finan remarked.Â
âWe donât usually have seals this far into the harbor. They prefer to stay upstream. Closer to the ocean.â
The seals seemed to be staring at Muireann and Finan. Their dark eyes watching.Â
Muireann placed her hand on Finanâs arm, gaining his attention once more.Â
âThank you again for the dinner invitation. If there is ale there that my husband can enjoy then I will appreciate the company.â
âIs your husband not enough company for ya? And what has ale to do with it?â Finan did not know what prompted him to be so forward. But he simply couldnât shake the feeling she needed help. And she did offer the cryptic information about ale.
âThe amount of his company is not to my liking nor is the quality. He⌠he is not a kind man. In fact he can be cruel. But when he has enough ale, I canâÂ
But she was unable to finish that thought. At that instant, Caelâs harsh voice broke through their conversation once more, âMuireann do not linger.âÂ
âI must go. I do not wish to anger him.âÂ
With that final comment and all its implications ringing in his head, Finan watched her walk to her husband.Â
âSo your husband is more tolerable when heâs full of ale. We will have to ensure that he gets plenty to wet his palette then.â Finan thought to himself. As he turned to rejoin Osferth and return to the great hall, he did not notice the seal's eyes following Muireann.                      Â
~~~~
Dinner that evening had gone harmlessly.
Uhtred kept up a lively conversation with Cael throughout the evening. They mainly spoke of travels and common places they had both visited. The words spoken were amicable enough. But it did not go unnoticed that Cael stifled any attempt Muireann had at joining in on conversation around the table. Â
He would interrupt her or loudly bring the subject back around to himself. When Gisela and Sihtric both attempted to make conversation with Muireann, Cael answered for her even as she opened her mouth to reply for herself.
The one mistake Cael made was to continue to drink. Finan made every attempt to casually keep Caels cup full. And the man did not protest. As Ceal became inebriated, his controlling demeanor towards Muireann lessened. He began to lose focus on details of his surroundings, like men do when they drink. Â
Muireann, who had noticed what Finan was doing with Caelâs cup, even began to smile at the conversations around her. Finan saw her shoulders begin to loosen and relax. Â
âA song for the sea! Thatâs what Muireann calls it. Itâs a song sung to bless sea voyages. Sheâs the voice of a goddess.â
Somehow the conversation had steered towards superstitions and rituals used in sea voyages. Uhtred had recounted some of the rituals used by the Danes that were taught to him as a child. This prompted Cael to drunkenly proclaim that Muireannâs voice would bless all his travels.
âSing it for everyone, wife.â                Â
âThey do not wish to hear my song,â Muireann whispered.
âI do,â Finan said, across the table from her.
âYes, please let us hear this magical song,â Gisela urged, smiling gently at Muireann.
Muireann had looked up to Finan after he spoke. Their gaze was locked once again. The edges of their reality began to blur and sounds became muffled once more.   Â
Cael placed his hand on Muireannâs shoulder, âYou will sing it for us, wife.â His words were a command.
Slowly, Muireann took a breath. Her eyes were lowered to her lap. As she began to sing, she closed them. A haunting melody that stilled the commotion in the entire hall. The breezes outside calmed and the waves crashed along the shores. The seals jumped and danced in the spray.
âI see your face across the sea,Â
you're in the waves surrounding me
I hear your voice call on the breeze,
 on the ship out on the oceanâ
Slowly Muireann opened her eyes and gazed across the table.
At that moment, Finan knew. He was captivated by this woman. He felt it in every sinew of his being.Â
She continued to sing closing her eyes or resting their gaze upon Finan.
âSailing across the sea on a big ship on the ocean
The moon is rising in the East, the stars hang down around her
The bow is arrow to the hearts of the ones we wish to come to home to
But the newly-lit night directs this flight, singing 'The ocean road will guide you.'
I see your face across the sea, you're in the waves surrounding me
I hear your voice call on the breeze, on the ship out on the ocean
When I awake I'll cast my anchor down and dive below
I'll dive into my lover's arms and warm the ocean's cold
Across the sea into our homes, we'll meet again so soon
You'll be with me across the sea on the ship out on the ocean
I see your face across the sea, you're in the waves surrounding me
I hear your voice call on the breeze, on the ship out on the ocean
I see your face across the sea, you're in the waves surrounding me
I hear your voice call on the breeze, on the ship out on the ocean
On the ship out on the ocean, on the ship out on the oceanâ                     Â
As Muireannâs gentle and soothing voice fades, so does the spell that held the hall entranced. Â
âYour voice is a gift, Muireann. Truly. Thank you for singing to us,â Gisela told her.
âThank you, Lady. I do not often sing for others.â Muireann replies as she returned her gaze down to her lap. Throughout her song, if her eyes were not closed, they were connected to Finanâs.
Just then Cael snored. He had fallen asleep, her song acting as a lullaby. His head rested on the table while his hand still held his ale cup.
Everyone stifled their laughter and then continued to eat and talk.Â
~~~~~
Slowly, the dinner began to come to an end. Muireann kept sending uneasy glances at her husband. Finally, she stood up and asked to excuse herself. Â
âMy husband will not move until dawn, I am afraid Lord. He is a sound sleeper when drunk. I feel this is a horrible way to ..â but her words had been cut off by Uhtred.
âThink nothing of it, Muireann. He can sleep it off here. I have guards positioned and no harm will come to him.â
âThank you. If youâll excuse me then Lord Uhtred. I will retire to the tavern. I would like to rest before we depart in the morning.â
âOf course, lady.â
With that Muireann lifted herself from the table and walked towards the door.
Finan was standing by the doorway speaking with Sihtric before he went home to his family. Sihtric had not missed the intensity between the trader's wife and his friend. He cautioned his friend against making unnecessary enemies. Â
âYou donât understand, Sihtric. She is in peril.â
âDid she tell you that? We all see that he is an ass. She does not seem happy, but many women are unhappy with their marriage. That does not mean sheâŚâ
Sihtricâs words are stopped as Muireann approaches them. Both men have noticed her change in demeanor. She breathed heavily and her eyes kept darting back to the still form of her husband. Â
âAre you alright, Muireann?â Finan asked, his voice laced with concern.
âFinan, I⌠No I amâŚâ She took a frantic breath. âNo, this may be my only chance.â Muireann said.
âOnly chance?â Sihtric questioned.
Muireann glanced at him then down to the ground. Â
âCael has something of mine. Something precious.â She drew her eyes up to Finanâs and spoke with more conviction. âHe holds it captive. He has never given me even the slightest chance to retrieve it,â She spoke. âBut tonight, I will,â She finished.
Finan looks to Sihtric and then back to Muireann. Those eyes like the sea. He was drowning in them.
âWe will do what we can to help you.â Finn did not know what to make of her words. âWe will do what we can to protect you.  Sihtric, keep watch on Cael and I will come with you Muireann.â Sihtricâs mouth had drawn to a tight line. He gave a short nod while looking past Muireann towards her husband.Â
âThank you.â She took Finanâs hand.
âThank you both,â she gave Sihtricâs arm a squeeze.
Then she was past them and speeding to the tavern. Â
Once they were at the tavern, Finan stood outside her door keeping watch.
He could hear her rummaging through their goods, turning over furniture, looking everywhere. He also heard her speaking to herself frantically, in a language he did not know. After several minutes, she opened the door with tears pooling in her eyes. Â
âIt is not here. It isnât hereâ Muireann told him. Her words were distraught.
Finan took her shoulders in his hands. âHey, hey. I will help ya. I will keep you safeâ
Muireann was mumbling to herself. Some words in English and others in that strange foreign tongue. She did not hear him.
Finan grasped her chin gently in his hand and tilted her head to look up at him. âMuireann, , it will be alright. I wonât let him harm you. We will find it.â Finan shifted his palm to cup Muireaanâs cheek. His thumb made gentle strokes along the curve of her face.Â
Muireannâs eyes brim with unshed tears.Â
She took a long shaking breath and leaned into Finanâs hand.Â
âI would have liked to have met you that day on the beach, instead of my husband. I do not think I would mind you holding me.â
âI do not understand. Muireann⌠help me understand,â Finan voiced with uncontrolled concern. He touched his forehead to hers.Â
The moment was broken when the two heard Cael screaming in a voice hoarse from ale.Â
âMuireann...Muireann!â
Muireann took a steadying breath then turned and walked down the stairs and out to meet Cael. He stood outside the tavern, breathing heavy and wavering as if standing on waves. Â
Sihtric was running towards them attempting to keep himself between Cael and Muireann. He had a large bruise forming around one eye and a small line of blood mingled in his hair under his nose.Â
âWhere were you Muireann?â Cael barked at her. He did not attempt to reach her. The two warriors blocked his path.Â
When she didnât answer him, he spoke again. His voice quieter and with more malice.Â
âWhere were you?â Â
Muireann brought her eyes to meet his gaze. She walked between the warriors and took two more steps towards Cael. Still silent.
By now, Osferth and Uhtred were standing watching the wordless exchange take place as well.
Muireann kept her eyes locked with Cael. Â
Then he understood. Â
She was looking for it.
And that was when he made his second mistake that evening. Upon instinct, Caelâs eye could not help but flit towards his carefully selected hiding place, the stables across the square. Â
Muireann didnât miss his look. And she remembered him visiting the stables with Uhtred upon their arrival, claiming they may carry on their journey on foot. He must have hidden it there.
Quick as lightening, Muireann had bolted towards the stables. Equally as fast, shocking for someone so drunk, Cael lunged forward and grabbed her arm whipping her back. The back of his hand connected with her cheek with a loud crack.
In the next instant, the men were in action. Â
Sihtric and Finan restrained Cael but not before Finan placed a few well aimed blows to his gut.
Osferth ran to Muirannâs side and helped her rise to her feet. She brought her hand to her temple and gripped Osferthâs arm to steady herself.
â I will not tolerate someone to strike a woman in my presence,â Uhtred spoke.
âJust let me take my wife and we will leave. You will need never see us again.â
âI will not leave with you,â Muireann spat.
âYou must. I hold you. Your will cannot overcome itâ Cael spat back.
âOf what do you speak? You hold her?â Uhtred asked.
âShe can never leave me. I âŚâ Cael began.
His words were stopped short as Muireann drew a blade across his throat.
As Uhtred had gathered Caelâs attention from her, Muireann had grabbed the dagger from Finanâs belt.
Sihtric and Finan dropped Cael and the warriors all remained silent.
Muireann panted as she watched Caelâs eyes dull and the life leave his body. She looked up to Finan. As he took a hesitant step towards her, she dropped his knife.
Then, as if compelled by an unseen force, Muireann streaked towards the stables. It was as if she ran for her very life. From the still form of her husband, the warriors. From Finan.
When Muireann reached the stables, she wrenched open the doors and sank to her knees in the first empty stall. Buried underneath the rushes, she found it. A small wooden chest, locked. Â
Muireann picked up the chest and with the strength of five men, hurled it at the stable wall. The chest, weathered and sea worn, cracked into splinters.
Muireann grabbed the contents and ran towards the river. Her breath was coming in gasps and her motions were frantic. Once she reached the river, she continued along it until she reached a clearing with a small beach.
Muireann had removed her dress and was stepping out of it as she heard Finan approach her from behind. Muireann swung around to face him. He was not alone, but he was the only one her heart could see. Â
Uhtred, Sihtric, and Osferth had stopped at the bank on the top of the clearing. They allowed Finan to walk towards Muireann. She clutched the contents of the box to her chest. So hard that her knuckles were white. Finally, Finan got within arms reach of Muireann.
He stopped and she stared at him with wide, terrified eyes
Finan held up his hands, âWe wonât hurt ya, Muireann. I wonât hurt ya.â
âI know. I meant it when I said I donât think I would mind if you had a hold on me. If you kept me bound to you.â
âWhat are you talking about, Muireann. I donât understand. What did he do to you? What did he keep to bind you to him?â Finanâs voice was desperate for answers. For understanding.
âI will return. Near midsummerâs eve, look for me from the river,â She whispered.
Slowly, Muireann backed away and careful to never lose grip of her precious bundle from the box, she slipped her shift from her shoulders. It fell away and lay at her feet. Â
She never broke eye contact with Finan.Â
They all watched her.Â
Transfixed. Â
Under her spell.
Muireann walked slowly into the water letting herself glide backwards. She was going home. Her head slipped below the surface and they all waited with baited breath. Â
A few moments later and slightly closer to shore, a seal broke the surface of the water. The sleek, beautiful creature stared at them all with human eyes. Her gaze lingered the longest on Finan. Then she slipped back under the dark waters and was gone. The seals from the harbor slipped away into the depths to join her.
âA selkieâ Finan whispered.
âWas that..?â Sihtric asked. The companions had walked up to stand next to Finan on the shore.
âSheâs a selkie.â
Osferth stared at Finan questioningly. Â
Uhtred answered for his brother. âShe is one of the seal folk. Shapeshifters. Seals who can shed their skins to reveal a human form,â he spoke, entranced. None of them could believe what they had witnessed. Uhtred continued, âIf a man takes a selkie womanâs skin and keeps it from her, she can never leave him. She can not be without her skin. That is how Muireannâs husband was holding her captiveâ
âWe will see her again, Finan. She will return to you.â Sihtric said. â She looks at you like my Ealswith looks at me. And how Gisela looks to Uhtred. I noticed it in the hall. She will return.â
âAye,â Finan said, with tears in his eyes. âAnd when she does, I will not hold her captive. But I will love her. By the sweet lord, our God, I will love that woman.â
Twas a cold night this fine evening. Many people already sound asleep in their beds or off to their late night shifts. The hustle and bustle of the city dwindled by the hour. But not for a certain group. Oh no. They were far too awake on this Christmas Eve.
The League of Villains were hosting their annual Christmas Party, proposed by none other than Toga and later agreed upon by Kurogiri for some group bonding.
Multicolored lights strung along the bar counter thanks to Kurogiri plus a small tree of quaint decorations of ornaments and garland carefully placed on the front corner of the bar greeting all who enter from the side entrance. It lit up the usually dimly lit room nicely. Keeping up with such festivities, he wore a santa hat. âEveryone must wear one, even you Tomura Shigaraki,â he stated in a calm manner.
Tomura reluctantly wore it, keeping Father over his face the whole time as not to be seen and simply drank glasses of whiskey on the rocks, ignoring the festivities no matter how much Kurogiri tried getting him involved. Anyone who approached him was ignored or simply told to fuck off. He wasnât in the greatest of moods being forced to miss a gaming tournament with the grand prize winner getting the rarest items in the entire game plus premium figures of the characters he mains. After a few attempts to speak to him, nobody dared bother him. Not even you.
The rest of the league, including yourself, all stayed in the corner opposite the bar.
Dabi stood leaning against the wall brooding as per usual even throwing in his usual snarky quips when the time was right. Twice was playing charades with Toga, Spinner, and Compress trying to figure out what exactly he was doing, throwing out guess after guess. Occasionally, Spinner glanced back at the boss with the soft pink glow forming in his cheeks.
What you were doing? Just sitting next to Mr. Compress, sipping on the cocktail in your hand all bundled up in some throw blankets. After being in the league these past few months, you soon caught glances of the man in such fine attire. Your cheeks were warm, not just from the booze. Honestly, youâd have nothing more than to finally have Compress right where you want him. You shifted your thighs just thinking about it. With the mask on so conspicuously, you never knew if he was ever looking your way or even noticed the little things you do.
As the night went on, everyone kept glancing at the doorway that led towards the second floor where the bathroom was located. Carefully placed over it was some mistletoe. Not once this evening did two people meet underneath it just yet. Everyone kept waiting, watching as someone would leave to use the bathroom, keeping track of who was coming and going. While normally, someone would kiss the person they bump into underneath the mistletoe, Toga came up with the idea that instead of kissing, the two caught under it would go into the broom closet for some seven minutes in heaven. And thus, it was agreed upon.
Tomura was plastered, passed out at the bar with Kurogiri shaking his head in disappointment at the young boss who didnât wish to participate in the festivities. He had a strong feeling this would happen anyway.
The karaoke was brought out and now the room was filled with the song of some drunken or tipsy villains, minus Toga who Kurogiri made sure drank non-alcoholic beverages that night. Cheers and dancing ensued with everyone taking turns singing.
A sudden tightness in your bladder alerted you and you rushed to the bathroom. Being as tipsy as you were, you didnât think to notice if anyone saw you get up not.
Feeling much better, you stepped back to the bar but then, you bumped into something or rather, someone. âOof, s-sorry,â you uttered, slowly raising your head only to feel the heat growing rapidly in your cheeks, not from the various alcohol youâve been drinking.
The familiar white mask with curious designs caught your attention and the lean build of his...it was him...Mr. Compress. âNone to worry my dear.â Despite not seeing his face, you could feel his smile through the mask.
A sudden feeling on the back of your neck told you to look up with Compress having the same idea. You lifted your head slowly and paused. Your body felt hot, almost heavy and light at the same time. There it was, the mistletoe finally serving its purpose.Â
Time stopped. You couldnât keep your eyes off the hemi-parasitic plant hanging above your head. Of course the one moment you forgot about it would cause this to happen. On top of it all...with your crush. A part of you almost wondered if this was all said and forgotten about or if anyone even noticed.
Loud cheers from across the bar snapped you out of your thoughts.
âOh my god! Itâs happening!!!â Toga squealed, giving you a knowing look. You lowered your head in embarrassment, staring at the linoleum floor. She figured out how you felt about Compress a few weeks ago as you had a hard time keeping your eyes off him during the last fight. âAww look at the lovebirds! Get a room,â Twice cooed then shouted. Spinner nodded and cheered in approval, taking another drink. Dabi was indifferent to the whole ordeal being too busy doodling dicks all over Tomuraâs face, stifling his laughter as to what his bossâs reaction might be when he wakes up.
Your eyes continued to focus on the floor. Butterflies swarmed in your stomach, never subsiding. A gloved hand of crimson obstructed your view. âIâd be honored for you to join me my dear.â The timbre of his voice, so smooth and rich made you lose your breath. You took his hand, warm with a perfect hold in yours as a gentleman would. If you were entirely sober right now, you wouldâve fainted in pure astonishing bliss. He traipsed onwards to the nearest closet that so happened to be the broom closet, leading you in first, him following and closed the door behind him.
The room was tiny to say the least. You pulled the string to the light hanging from the ceiling, illuminating the space, humming though barely audible. Outside, they started karaoke back up singing some classic music for this kind of party. Compress bumped into you the moment the door clicked. You stumbled back, hitting the wall and somehow pulling him with you. You gasped as you both fell onto the floor with a thud.
His warmth and subtle earthy, musky scent engulfed you, sending a tingling sensation between your legs. Slowly, you came back to reality. His body caged around you, on top of you. Soft but deep sighs caressed your ears, adding to the sensation below.
âAre you alright?â he asked, concern in his voice. The mask that adorned his face fell off, revealing the beautiful chestnut eyes you could never look away from.
âY-yeah, Iâm alright...so handsome...uh I-I mean, are you?â You shrunk into yourself...you said it⌠âMaybe...he didnât hear that part?â Oh, but you knew, you just knew he did.
A spark lit up in his eyes as his lips stretched to form a smirk, âhandsome? Iâll have you be the judge of that.â His right hand brushed your cheek that you melted into. Your heart skipped a few beats. âNow what would you like to do for these seven minutes? I might have a few tricks up my sleeve Iâm willing to try with you.â
By now, a minute had already passed. You just needed to say it. All this time, how much youâve always wanted him, how he makes you feel day in and day out. Never once have you ever lusted for someone so much, wondering just what those fingers and marbles could do to you. A man with many secrets who covers his face intrigued you to no ends. All you had to do...was tell him just what you wanted...what you needed. You inhaled deeply and sighed, it was now or never. âF-fuck me with your marbles!â
Compress paused, astounded by your response. He chuckled softly and smiled with a hungry expression on his face, âI didnât take you as the kinky type but alas it appears I am mistaken. Though,â his voice deepened, almost in a growl, âI do have a trick or two that you might be interested in. Now then, we donât have much time.â He leaned forward, giving you a quick kiss on the cheek, whispering an Iâve always wanted you.
The warmth radiating off his body now subtle as he leaned back, unbuttoning your pants. Goosebumps raised on your skin from his touch. He pulled them down your legs along with your panties, leaving your cunny exposed to him. Juices from your arousal shone under the soft lighting before him. You turned your head, blushing. His hand touched your chin tenderly, motioning you to face him.âC-Compress?â
âShh, itâs alright. Please donât hide your beautiful face from me my dear. Especially with whatâs to come.â You could only feel hotter with every word of his sweeping through your ears.
He leaned forward, capturing your lips in a tender kiss, pouring all his feelings into it. Your eyes shot open but fluttered shut soon after, moving your lips to match his intensity. For a moment, the world had stopped. Nothing mattered but the emotions you shared.
âAh!â you cried, breaking the kiss. Your cunny twitched as a couple fingers slid between your folds, testing your every sound and movement. âM-more!â
âImpatient I see. Well, it canât be helped with us having a short timeframe but, I promise to make this performance worthwhile,â he dipped his fingers lower, sliding two fingers barely past your entrance, making you whimper. âOf course, next time Iâll surely give you the show of a lifetime.â
Long slender fingers plunged deep inside your velvety walls in a rapid, steady rhythm. You moaned and cried his name, urging your hips forward as lust overtook your mind. Every touch, the way he pressed and rubbed your sweet spot sent pleasant chills through your body. Itâs no wonder they say he has magic fingers.
They scissored in and out, twisting and twirling in a fierce yet delicate dance leaving you begging for more. He moved so fast, you didnât even notice his fingers slip out for a brief second only to shove in a special something: a marble. The foreign object made you gasp in surprise. It was cool to the touch making your insides tingle. You shifted your eyes towards his face. Compress couldnât stop his smile, hearing your melodic moans that slipped out every movement he made making you tighter by the second.
Soon another marble went in. Then another, and another until finallyâŚ.he stopped.
Compress released his fingers from your tight heat, licking off your juices while humming. Despite the marbles inside you, you couldnât help but feel empty. He must've noticed the glum expression you held. âIt seems you arenât completely satisfied my dear. No worries, I have a little surprise for you.â
His fingers snapped and everything went white. You couldnât think or speak. Nothing but incoherent babbling and screams of pleasure echoed from the enclosed space followed by a quiet buzzing sound. Tears poured from your eyes as drool dripped out of your mouth. Your body continuously convulsed as your cunny twitched and oozed more and more fluids. It was as though you finally found nirvana for the first time. You never knew you could feel like this.
âHhmhmm, I see those marbles are doing the trick,â he cooed with a telltale smirk.
His hands cupped your cheeks, rubbing circles into them with his thumbs. You barely heard what he said, mustering a breath to speak, âthe m-m-marblesâŚ.ah- what..did you-?â
âTheyâre quite special. Since we wouldnât have much time here, I wanted to give you as much pleasure as possible so,â he held a marble between his fingers and turned it on like the others, âas you can see, itâs a special vibrating marble. What do you think about it?â
You cried as another jolt made you ascend once more, âso good!!!â
Knock knock knock
âHey lovebirds, times up,â Dabi grumbled and sauntered away from the door, âbetter hope you didnât make a mess in there.â
A whine left your lips as your eyebrows scrunched together. You sat up, reaching between your legs, digging around to find the marbles but, only one managed to make its way out, rolling onto the floor between your legs. The others however, you could barely reach. âC-Compress...theyâre not coming out! Hnngh...please help!â you whimpered. Your legs wouldnât stop shaking.
Compress shoved his fingers back inside your sopping entrance, digging for the marbles still vibrating inside you. Another one managed to loosen and rolled its way out. He went deeper, trying to reach the others but nothing seemed to work. He sighed, âsorry my dear. It appears I went a bit far. Youâll have to keep them inside until they manage to slide out. After all, I will need them back for next time.â He winked at you as you felt your body heat rise once more. It stands that no matter what he does, you canât get enough of his charm.
Without a second to spare, he helped put your clothes back on. Despite the smile he wore, you could see a small tinge of guilt in his eyes. You paused for a second then gave him a reassuring smile. He picked you up, holding you close to him, giving you a quick peck on the lips. âIâm glad I got to spend this holiday with you my love.â
He carried you out and everyone cheered at the two of you. Dabi teased you, telling you how loud you were. You couldnât help but bury your face into Compressâs chest. âI think weâre going to turn in for the night,â Compress stated.Â
He quickly went up the stairs, giving you small pecks along the way to his room. It was a happy moment for the league that you and Compress surely will never forget...especially with those pesky little marbles still stuck inside you.
Uhhhh part two of the rare pair part 1
"Sleep well, Dove?"
"It's too early for your nonsense." Henry complained, pouring himself a cup of coffee. He had not. Slept well, that is. It was the damn nightmares again. They always came this time of year.
Henry had already visited the field. That usually helped things, but not this time.
"Tell me about them."
"Them what?"
"The nightmares." Even though he already knew well enough what they were about. "The men." Wilbur already knew. He's been in Henry's head more times than he could count. He had to make sure he was the right one for the job, after all. He didn't dig through everything in that mess Henry called a mind. His thoughts were constantly all over the place. And why were there so many musicals and chemical compositions in that thing?
Besides, he needed Henry to trust him if this thing was going to work. Something told him digging around that brain of his wouldn't end well.
Henry paused, looking down at his steaming mug of coffee. "They were dear friends of mine. Lovers." He takes a sip, it's more bitter than usual. "I was the cause of their deaths. Though... you already knew that." His eyes flick up to meet Wilbur's over the rim of his mug. "Didn't you?"
"..."
"I knew I could feel something rooting around. You were scoping me out before we even formally met, weren't you?" Henry grins in victory, setting his coffee down with a satisfying 'clack' against the marble counter.
"Aren't you supposed to be pissed?"
"If anything I'm intrigued! Can you read everyone's minds?" He leaned against the counter, head propped in his hand. "Ooo-what else do you know about me? I want the details."
Wilbur snorted, "Course I can. And for the record I don't know everything about you. I stopped looking around after a bit."
"Oh? So I still got some secrets then?" Henry would have thought he'd have long since taken advantage of his abilities. Know him inside and out. "Huh, seems I've pegged you wrong."
"You couldn't peg me at all." He grins.
Henry only shrugged. And something told Wilbur that he didn't get the joke.
Wilbur clears his throat, "Anyway, uh, wanna hear about which of the Monroe brats isn't Gerald's? The answer may shock you." Like a damn click bait article.
Henry's eyes light up, a loud gasp escaping him. "I knew it!" He was always down for gossip. And a scandal like that? It was right up his alley.
Wilbur enjoyed watching the man lose his shit with every little Hatchetfield secret he told him. And there were a lot. He could tell Henry was plenty skeptical of him, but he was getting there. Little by little.
--
Henry walked into the kitchen to fetch some refreshments for his monthly 'date night' with John and Xander. Used to be bi-monthly. And before that it'd been weekly. Nowadays he found the pair trying to gently nudge him away. And normally it wouldn't have bothered him. But they hadn't started doing this until after he was let go from P.E.I.P. Which made him think.
And think.
And overthink.
He had no problem with leaving the relationship. If they were to simply ask him. But all these hints? He could do without. Xander kept trying to set him up on blind dates. And John was cold. Even when the three of them were intimate. Especially when the three of them were intimate.
It really got him thinking....
His hand barely touches his turtleneck. Was it... no, it couldn't possibly be the scars. John had plenty of his own. Although, baring witness to how Henry got them probably made that very, very different. And there was the nerve damage. And the pain. Which always got worse when there was a storm approaching.
John was his friend. He didn't want him thinking he was responsible for any of that. He should call him-
His phone began ringing, as if on cue. He fetches it from his pocket. Of all the coincidences-
He answers it immediately. "I was just thinking about you, say we really ought to have a chat when you two get here-" his stomach sinks at the reply. "Oh... so, you can't make it then?... No, no. I understand. I hope you two have fun." And he hung up.
He looks at the bottle in his hand. At the neatly set dinner table. At the flowers he picked himself. Apparently the date the three of them made their 'throuple', as the kids called it, official wasn't all that important to them.
Such a shame he had to spend the day alone.
Or... not.
"... Wilbur, how do you like your steak?"
Wilbur was always there, even when he thought he wasn't. He didn't know why he felt comfort in that.
--
"Who was that?" Xander commented, fixing his tie in the mirror.
"Henry. I was telling him about how we couldn't make... it...." He trailed off when he walked into their bedroom and saw his husband getting dressed. "Where are you going?'
Xander paused, standing up straight. "Couldn't make it next month, right?... You told him next month, right?"
John pressed his lips into a fine line. "Iiiii thought you said-"
"John!" Xander dropped his tie. "Why would I tell you to tell him that we wouldn't be able to make it on the three of us' anniversary?"
"It was a mistake-I'll just call him back real quick." John did not want to face his husband's wrath, he could already feel his eyes melting the back of his skull as he dialed Henry's number. "It's just going straight to voicemail-"
"Get dressed, we're going anyways. And y o u can explain the mix-up."
--
"Where'd you learn to cook?" Wilbur asked him. Not that he needed to eat. Or had a great sense of taste nowadays. But it was nice to have something to chew on now and again. And it smelled amazing.
"Oh, my aunt. This is all from her recipe book." He seemed rather proud of that fact.
"Well, safe to say those two are missing out."
Henry hums. He's been quiet all through dinner. Still down about being cancelled on with such short notice. "You know what? They are." He stabs his fork a little too forcefully, and sends his mashed potatoes straight in the air. And right smack in his face.
They both pause.
And then Wilbur starts laughing. Which sets Henry into his own fit of giggling.
--
"Do you hear that?" Xander paused on Henry's doorstep, hearing the laughter coming from inside.
"Doesn't sound like he's alone." John muses, trying to see if he could sneak a peek through one of the windows. He can see Henry fine. But whoever it is he's with is just out of sight.
"John!" Xander whisper shouts, tugging on his husband's sleeve. "You can't just spy on our friend like that!"
"Aren't you curious?" John looks back at Xander.
"I-well-yes! But not enough to spy on him!"
The two continue to bicker quietly, or, they thought they were being quiet.
--
Wilbur looks over his glass, humming. "You've got guests." The curtains then shut themselves. It was a good thing neither of them could see him. He doubted seeing the former colonel would sit well with either of them. Especially John.
"What-" Henry looks towards the door, face now free of the mess from before. He can hear exactly who it is too. And it both confuses and ticks him off.
"And they know you're not alone. They won't buy it if you say you are." Wilbur stands up, "Gotta make them leave somehow."
Henry wracks his brain for an idea. And seeing as he's well into that bottle of wine, they're not really thought out. "... You can change your appearance, right?"
Wilbur locks eyes with Henry, a grin splitting across his face.
--
"Just knock."
"You knock-"
Henry opens the door a crack, taking a peek at the two of them. "... I thought you two couldn't make it." He responds plainly, not even greeting them.
"There was a mix-up." Xander explained, elbowing his husband to elaborate.
"I meant to tell you that we wouldn't be able to make it next time." John tells him.
"Well, that's unfortunate." Henry wraps his fingers around the door, glancing back into the house. "Because I ended up taking your advice, Xander. And I think it'd be terribly awkward of me to explain to my date."
Xander is equal parts thrilled and... well, confused. Thrilled because he wanted Henry to have someone to lean on when they weren't around. And confused because Henry had always outright refused whenever Xander brought up mixers or blind dates. "That's wonderful, Hen! Do we know who it is?"
"I ah-well-" Henry blinked, shit. He didn't even know who Wilbur was going to come around that corner looking like-
"Gary Goldstein, attorney at law!" Henry nearly jumped when the man announced himself. His face flushed. He let the door open fully, and there he was. The supposed Gary Goldstein. A faithful rendition, he'd say.
It was an... awkward conversation to say the least. When Henry finally managed to turn the two away he locked the door behind them.
"Whatthefuckwasthat?"
"You didn't tell me w h o to look like! I just chose a rando guy!"
"I... goddamnit." Henry stood there, trying not to laugh at the thoughts that had to be bouncing around in John and Xander's head right about now. "At least you chose someone at least somewhat attractive."
"Yeah, cuz talking non-stop about audits is so attractive." Wilbur runs a hand through his hair, the illusion dropping almost instantly.
Henry smiles, wine getting to his head. "That's much better."
"What?"
"... Hm? Oh, nothing. This was fun. Should do it again sometime."
--
"You're really going to make an entire plotline-"
"Is that what we're calling our 'reality scheming'?"
"-be quiet, are you really creating an entire plot based off of one thing this Matthews guy said to you?"
".... Yes, of course. Naturally. I'm calling it 'The Guy Who Didn't Like Musicals'... hm, sure is a mouthful. What do you think?" Henry slides over his tablet to show Wilbur, who doesn't know if he should be impressed or not.
He rolls his eyes, leaning over to get a good look at it. "... You know, I think the big man might actually get a kick out of this."
"Speaking of, am I ever going to meet this 'Wiggley' character?" Henry slides his tablet back, tapping on the screen before resuming his scribbling.
"Depends on how well you perform, Dove-"
"Why do you call me that?" Henry looked up, reading glasses askew. He pulls them off to clean them up, fetching a cloth from his coat pocket.
"What, you don't like it?" Like that'd stop him. Wilbur watches Henry. He can't decide if he likes him better with or without the glasses-
"I just find it odd, is all. I don't mind it." He slides them back on, looking back up at him once again. "You called me that the first time we met-"
"That wasn't the first time we met."
"Excuse me?"
Wilbur is no longer sitting on the table. Henry thinks he's up and left until he finds him sitting in the living room, just barely visible from the kitchen. He gets up and follows him with a huff.
"I watched you for a while, before that day. I saw a lot of things." He chuckles, "Lotta embarrassing things too. But that's not the point." He pops his feet up on the coffee table. "I saw you with that bird a while back. You were talking to it. Thought it was kinda kooky, kinda sweet."
Henry has to think for a while, and then his face softens. "The bird you saw was one I nursed back to health." He sighs, walking up to him and kicking his legs so he's forced to move them. "Get your damn feet off my mahogany." He then walks past him, just to sit on the other end of the couch.
Wilbur scowls. He could kill Henry so easily, doesn't he know that? "How kind."
"It was either that or put it out of its misery." Henry makes himself comfortable, leaning back on the couch.
"I doubt you'd have the guts to do that."
"You don't think I'm capable of mercy killing? That's laughable." Henry eyes him, "Look in my mind and find out. Go on. You have my permission."
Wilbur did. And it hit him all at once. It wasn't that the scene shocked him. He just hadn't been prepared for the rush of emotion.
He saw Henry's hands. Injecting something into an IV drip. Shaking as they did so. And a man. So pale and sickly. Just lying on the bed. But he was smiling. And that's all he could see before Henry pushed him out.
"Promise me something, Wilbur."
He looked at him. So he actually was going to use that damn condition then? "... What?"
"Don't ever underestimate me or think me incapable." He curled up on the couch, looking ready to settle in for some sleep. "Promise me, Wilbur." His eyes weren't leaving him anytime soon.
"... I promise."
Henry seemed satisfied, now closing his eyes. "Alexa, play my Sleep playlist."
As soft music filled the room, Wilbur realized that maybe he bit off more than he could chew. Henry was chosen for a reason. He had to remember that.
He also realized it really didn't take long for Henry to fall asleep. At all. Out like a light.
Wilbur gets up, not even thinking when he takes the professor's glasses off for him. "Dumbass."
âWell if you donât try, it wonât get better now, will it?â
Steve reasoned, patting Thorâs shoulder as he passed him, carrying his dish out to the dining room where the team were gathered for dinner. Thor frowned looking down at his own plate, staring at the lasagna youâd made for everyone.
It was one of those rare times when he was staying at the compound, not busy saving the nine realms. The team got together for meals more frequently after the Ultron incident.
A real sense of family developed over the years, friendships were formed as new people became a part of the Avengers. Thor had no problems getting along with anyone in the past, except you.
He met you during the battle of New York, watching you fight like the strongest warrior alongside Natasha and Clint with your unparalleled combat skills.However, you seemed distant and gave him a cold shoulder when the team hung out. Every attempt of making conversation was met with an eye-roll or a look of disgust, and usually ended up with you walking away from the scene.
Thor sauntered out to join the rest, taking a seat right opposite you and digging in.
âOh (Y/N), this is delicious.â
âIndeed. So tasty.â
Everyone complimented your dish, as you looked around the room, positively beaming. You met Thorâs eyes and he gave you an awkward smile, clearing his throat before shoving a large bite in his mouth.
âYou know Asgardian feasts are the greatest. Nothing can ever compare.â He smiled proudly, hoping youâd appreciate his âattemptâ to make nice.
Steve shook his head in exasperation, while your smile disappeared. You went back to concentrating on your food, jamming the fork in the food a bit too forcefully and muttering,
âWell itâs not bloody Asgard.â
Nat placed her hand on yours soothingly, and turned to look at Steve, who was equally bothered.
âIâm sure about that Thor, but (Y/N) here has prepared this lovely meal for all of us, donât you think thatâs nice?â
Thor opened his mouth to say something, but you cut him off,
âDonât bother Steve. Itâs fine.â
Everybody remained relatively quiet for the rest of the dinner, Clint tried to break the awkwardness recalling funny incidents that happened during the last mission.
Thor kept stealing glances at you, guilty for having made you this upset. Heâd actually enjoyed the food quite a bit, but his efforts at making small talk had left you deflated.
âŚ
Two weeks had passed since youâd last seen the proud Asgardian God, not that you would ever admit you had been counting.
You were busy chasing potential Hydra leads with Steve, who on multiple occasions mentioned that Thor was trying to get to know you better but didnât know how to.
âHeâs so stuck up and proud, I just canât stand him Steve!â youâd stated.
The captain had tried to play mediator several times before, however it hadnât gone too smoothly. You expressed that it was best to not try anymore, some people just donât click.
After a particularly tiring sparring session one evening, you strolled into the kitchen to grab a drink, when you heard cabinets opening and closing as you approached. Thor was searching for food, you deduced, as you watched his rummaging from the kitchen doorway.
You didnât want to face another awkward conversation, so you figured you would just tip-toe around the fridge, grab a drink and get away without him noticing.
Having successfully retrieved a bottle of beer, you turned away from the fridge and collided against the large chest of the God of Thunder, who had chosen at that exact moment to walk out.
You hit your bum pretty hard on the marble floor, back going next but Thorâs instincts kicked in and he saved your head by placing a hand underneath while bracing his body with his other hand to prevent crushing you. The beer bottle smashed from your hand splashing liquid everywhere, as a yelp left your mouth.
âLady (Y/N) I am so very sorry, I did not see you. Are you hurt?â
His voice soft, worried as you felt his breath on your cheek, you had shut your eyes on impact, scared that you were just about smushed.
Peeking an eye open, you saw Thorâs face right over yours, brilliant blue eyes studying your face, concerned. You felt frozen, lying on the kitchen floor with Thorâs body on top of yours.
âIâm fine.â The creeping pain in your back and ass said otherwise, with Thorâs help you scrambled to a standing position, heat warming your cheeks, heart still racing. You were very much aware of Thorâs grip on your upper arm as he still ran his eyes over your sweat-covered gym clothes.
A sharp sting in your left hand drew your attention there and you saw a piece of glass lodged in the side of your palm, blood trickling from it. Thor saw it too, jumping into action as he grabbed a towel from the counter and approached you.
Exhaling loudly you braced yourself, carefully pulled the shard out, more blood rushing to the surface. Tears stung in your eyes as you pressed the towel down on the cut.
âProbably need stitches.â You muttered as the towel changed color from white to red, already walking out of the kitchen.
âPlease allow me to assist you, Lady (Y/N).â he called after you, following you towards the elevator.
âUh no, I think youâve done enough.â Muttering rudely, you entered the elevator and pressed the button to the compoundâs infirmary.
Thor followed you anyway, stayed by your side while you got stitches in the med bay, explaining to the nurse how it was completely his fault, even riding the elevator back with you to your apartment floor after the wound was attended to.
You didnât say much the entire time, pangs of guilt coursing through at his thoughtfulness. Discourteous as you had been, this man still tried his best to help but, your stubborn self refused to admit it was all your mistake.
âŚ
Leaning on Steve for support, you limped towards the common area for a movie night. You had a sprained ankle from your latest mission that hadnât quite healed yet and was bandaged.
âEasy. Are you comfortable?â Steve carefully propped your leg on the wooden table, before placing a small pillow underneath.
âAs Iâll ever be. Thank you Rogers.â You gave his hand a grateful squeeze and placed the large bowl of popcorn in your lap.
âYour hand isnât fully healed yet. Seems like youâre losing your edge, (Y/L/N).â
Glaring at his statement, you already regretted telling him about the kitchen incident. All hopes of this embarrassing event staying between two friends had gone to shit when Nat and Sam brought it up earlier today and Steve hid his face, sniggering.
âIâm not losing anything, youâre about to lose your arm if you keep this up.â You threatened, though you both knew you were kidding.
Your banter got cut short when the Asgardian God walked into the room, swinging Mjolnir in one hand and a large candy bar in the other.
You had literally been avoiding him ever since, excusing yourself to fake phone calls when he was around, eating dinners alone in your room under the pretext of wanting to be with yourself.
And now, knowing Steve â Mr Goody-two-shoes, he would ask Thor to join you here, and he did just that.
âHey Thor, weâre watching old classics today, come join us.â
Steve ignored your death stare and continued to look at Thor expectantly, who seemed undecided for a bit, but then smiled and walked over to the couch, accepting Steveâs invite.
You threw a handful of popcorn at Steve when Thor wasnât looking, he merely shrugged, mouthing âyou-should-talk-to-himâ.
Thor took a seat next to you, keeping a considerable distance in between while you resumed the movie. Halfway through it, Steve made an excuse to go to the bathroom only to never return, leaving you alone with the Asgardian.
Youâd fallen asleep before the movie got over, not realizing when Thor had covered you with a blanket or when heâd moved closer to support your head on his shoulder.
The noisy crunch of popcorn from your right, brought you back to consciousness as you noticed the bowl now in Thorâs lap, and his other hand wrapped securely around your shoulders.
He was so warm. You didnât have the heart to move away.
âIâm sorry did I wake you?â he asked, removing his hand away, much to your disappointment.
âYeah. Itâsâitâs fine though.â
Scrambling a foot away, the previous distance returning, you felt your cheeks flush.
A few minutes passed as you both watched the second movie that had begun, before Thor broke the silence.
âHow did you injure your ankle?â pointing to the bandaged limb.
âIf I tell you, youâll laugh. Itâs embarrassing.â
âI will do no such thing, you have my word.â He replied sincerely, turning to face you fully.
You began telling the story honestly, how after the mission you were walking towards the jet and accidently tripped on a previously unseen stone that had resulted in a nasty sprain. You skipped the part of how actually your mind had wandered to the day you and Thor had that kitchen mishap.
He seemed genuinely concerned for you after hearing it and like he promised did not laugh.
âYou know the healers on Asgard wouldâve been able to mend it in no time.â He added.
âYour ability to bring your Godly realm into every conversation blows my mind, really.â You laughed, rolling your eyes.
âWell, all of you have such incredible stories from Midgard to share, and I feel like an outsider, I just thought sharing stories from my home planet would make for interesting conversation. Which I now realize is the cause of your annoyance, so Iâm really sorry about that.â
He frowned, a sad look flashing in his face, before he replaced it with an understanding smile.
You felt terribly guilty for never having thought it that way. He was just trying to make conversation. He was a literal outsider, always taking great interest in wanting to know about âEarthly traditionsâ, having nothing to add to that hence sharing his Asgardian tales.
Wow. And you had been a real bitch about it this whole time.
Suddenly Steveâs words came back to you, all he wanted was try and get to know you better. Well now, it seemed like you had blown your chance of that ever happening as you kept staring down at your hands, unable to form a response.
âIt seems like my presence is no longer wanted, Iâll leave you be, Lady (Y/N), enjoy your eveââ Thor began but you cut him off.
âNo wait! Please.â You said almost too loudly, grabbing his wrist as he was half rising from his seat.
âI owe you an apology, several to be honest. You have been nothing but kind to me and I was a bitch. That little kitchen accident was all on me, I tried to sneak past you because I wanted to avoid an awkward situation. You helped me through that even though I was so rude. Hell, I even faked being busy to avoid dinners. This makes me such a terrible person and I am so sorry Thor. You didnât deserve it, really Iâm so soââ
In all of your gesture-filled apology frenzy, you had missed Thor leaning in slowly with an amused expression on his face, before his lips made contact with yours taking you by surprise.
His soft lips covered yours, hands moving to cup your face gently as he kissed you, feeling you relax against him and return the kiss.
It ended sooner than youâd hoped, breaking apart you found yourself grinning like an idiot, touching your lips, as if to make sure it had really happened.
âYouâre not a terrible person (Y/N). Youâre a strong, poised warrior. Maybe a little set in your ways.â The God added quietly, making you giggle as your forehead landed against his chest.
After a few moments you figured it was time to head back to bed, seeing as it was way past midnight. With Thorâs help you stood up, who ducked down and took your hand in his.
âAllow me to escort you back to your chambers.â
All you could manage was a shy nod, and he had effortlessly picked you up and had begun walking towards your room.
From a dark corner, Steve groaned as he removed a twenty dollar bill from his pocket and handed it to Natasha who had a victorious grin on her face.
Qui Totum Vult Totum Perdit (d.s.) - The Fight
A/N With Hopeâs intense google doc analysis of trying to piece together Daniel and Avalonâs fight through his flashbacks, I figured I should give you the real thing!
âYour ignorance is fucking incredible, Daniel James!â
Her words were venomous, punctuated by the slam of the front door the moment we stepped back inside the house. I was still trying to put my wallet in my pocket after paying the taxi driver, showing exactly how quickly she decided to snap back at me after we already endured a terribly tense flight home. Yet, apparently a simple question of âare you okayâ was completely disgusting of me to ask.
âYou canât just lose your temper like this every time you get a bit upset, Avalon! Iâm just trying to talk to you.â I called as calmly as I could as I set my computer bag on the kitchen island.
She grabbed herself an empty glass from the cupboard and slammed the door shut before turning on the tap aggressively. Her brown eyes glared daggers in my direction over the rim of the glass as she raised it to her lips to take a sip and the diamond ring on her left hand caught the light of the late evening setting sun coming in through the window. Flickers of orange light writhed on the marble countertop between us and died when she lowered her hand out of the incoming rays.
There was a moment of silence as the beginnings of this obvious inevitable fight lingered between us.
âTrying to talk to me?â she repeated my words slowly as she stepped around the island, water glass held in both hands as if she was ready to interrogate me, âWell, gee, Daniel, thatâs the first time in days youâve even bothered.â
âWhatâs that supposed to mean?â I frowned.
âYou spent most of our honeymoon with your laptop and your goddamn work rather than with me.â
I sighed, âAva, come on, you know I had to-â
âNo! You didnât have to do anything! The only thing you had to do was relax for the first time in your goddamn life but that was too much to ask, wasnât it? GodâŚstupid me.â she shook her head in near disbelief, âI thought you might have actually given a shit about me once we got to Costa Rica but apparently, I was wrong.â
A rouge was rising on her sun-tanned cheeks, a clear indication of her true anger she felt, but her accusations werenât making it easy for me to simply let her have this one. It was a fight we had before and were probably destined to again. It just came with the job.
âGive a shit about you? Avalon, youâre my fucking wife, of course I give a shit about you! You were the one complaining about wanting to leave the entire time. That doesnât make the trip very fucking enjoyable.â
âYou werenât around me!â she yelled, tapping her hand against the cup in her hand so the sound of her ring against the glass punctuated each of her words. âWhat person wants to spend their honeymoon alone? Of course, I wanted to go home! I was basically there by myself and I was miserable!â
âI had to get some shit done! Jonah needed me to double check a few things while we were away. Itâs not the end of the world and Iâm sorry if you feel that way!â
I could see her visibly tense and she turned her head so she didnât have to look at me, jabbing under her breath, âThatâs always your excuse, isnât it? âAlways gotta get some shit doneâ. Well, Iâm sick and tired of coming second to your work all the time.â
âWell what do you want me to do?! Do you not like having this house and a nice car and that huge fucking diamond on your finger? Well sorry to break it to you, honey, but without this job, you wouldnât have any of that!â
âThere you go again!â Avalon threw her hand up in my direction, âItâs not all about your fucking money, Daniel! I donât care about that! I would even be perfectly happy living on the side of the fucking street with you because I love you! None of this other shit that you think is required for a happy and fulfilling life; because â news flash â itâs not!â
âWell it makes me pretty damn happy.â
âOh really? Are you happy now? Huh? Does this make you fucking happy?â
âYes! Because at least my house or my car doesnât spew this fucking bullshit at me all the time!â I yelled back.
Avalon literally scoffed and took a step back, her voice lowered to a steady unimpressed drawl, âYouâre a selfish prick, Daniel Seavey. Iâm done trying to help youâŚyouâre such a lost cause thatâŚGodâŚsometimes I wish I never married you.â
âThen why did you? If I make you so fucking miserable all the time! Are you that insecure that youâd rather be miserable with me than be alone? You canât stand yourself either, can you?â
âFuck you!â
âMy brother always told me you were too fucking weak to be my wifeâŚcouldnât handle the baggage that comes with the job.â
âLeave Christian out of this. He doesnât know bull-fucking-shit about us and especially not about me. Neither of you know how hard it is!â
âItâs not hard, Avalon! You sit here and look pretty and I buy you sparkly things! Itâs not fucking hard! Youâre just being an obnoxious brat about everything, and you always have!â
âYou invalidate my feelings all the time!â she yelled.
âYouâre too goddamn sensitive! Itâs not a big deal!â I shouted louder to top her.
âGod, I fucking hate you!â she huffed. She turned to set the glass angrily on the kitchen counter but it fell and shattered on the kitchen floor between us, silencing our screaming match except for our heavy breaths and Avalonâs sniffled tears.
I sighed at the realization that the whole confrontation went on too far and I tried to reach for her, but she pulled her hand back and moved away from me, âAves.â
âDonât.â she snapped.
âAvalon, Iâm sorry, I-â
âSorry doesnât fix everything.â she retorted sharply, yet I could hear the exhaustion in her voice. âIâm sleeping in the studio tonight.â
I swallowed thickly and nodded, glancing to the ground with a heavy heart, the pieces of broken glass shimmering in the kitchen light between us. She went to step around me but I instinctively reached out a hand to her to keep her back from accidently stepping on any broken glass, âCareful.â
âGod, Daniel.â she huffed, âPlease donât.â
I didnât make a move to stop her as she walked around me to storm across the living room and to the back door. She didnât look back as she opened the sliding glass door and slipped out into the darkness that the falling night brought. I watched her disappear out of the house and into the backyard, her form fading from view like she had been a figment of my imagination the whole time, the cruelest most perfect kind of dream.
Oh, how I loved her. And I was so, so stupid.
I busied myself in her absence by bringing my laptop bag and our shared suitcase to the master bedroom and rested them against the wall just inside the door. I returned to the kitchen to clean up the broken glass and spilt water, glancing out the back door as if half expecting her to come back inside. I was met with darkness.
I squinted slightly to try and see the light from the backyard studio window but it was still pitch black. Odd. Usually you could see the light from the main house. I brushed it off that she simply went to bed early after such a fight and focussed on the broken glass. I had just crouched down to pick up the worst of it with a steady hand when the pling of the security camera peaked my attention. It rang steady from the monitorâs spot on the front counter and I headed over to it to check on the studio cameras, but the alarm was disarmed from the studio before I could reach it, sending the kitchen back into silence.
My phone buzzed in my pocket at that moment and I pulled it out to read the text from my older brother,
Did you get home okay?
I hesitated as I read his message, not particularly wanting to be honest with him and have to endure his confessions of his dislike of my new wife and her very personable opinions on my job. It was our private relationship and Christian seemed to like to weasel his nose into it sometimes. Ah, well. He meant well. Before I could decide if I wanted to answer him right away or not, I heard a faint scream from the backyard and my head shot up to look towards the sliding glass doors. I paused, expecting Avalon to come running in to ask me to kill a spider any moment now.
But there was nothing.
I pocketed my phone and walked briskly across the main floor of the house, broken glass forgotten, and slipped outside into the warm LA evening. The studio was only a few paces from the back porch and I jumped down the three steps and across the stone tiles to the door. I didnât bother knocking before I went inside, the darkness that consumed me when I entered already adding more concern to my conscious, and I reached for the light switch blindly.
âAva? I thought I heard you scream, are you-â
The scene that met my eyes with the flick of the switch had my breath stopping in my throat, my words falling into silence, and my heart dropping into my stomach. Avalon was laying over the rug across the small room, eyes staring blankly into the ceiling, and her throat slit until she was laying in a pool of her own blood.
âAves.â I breathed shakily, taking a step towards her, then a second, âAvalon, honeyâŚâ
She wasnât moving. I barely made it halfway across the studio but with my back to the door I had entered through, someone came up behind me and grabbed me, slapping their hand over my mouth and holding me down by an arm around my waist. I struggled and tried to get away but they had a good grip on me as they swiped my feet out from under me and took me to the ground. The sharp slam of my head hitting the side of the piano on the way down was the last sound in the room before I blacked out.
