Oh, I forgot to mention this ever since I got Choi Jong-in.
When it's his cue to battle, he summons a fire dragon and wrecks damage across the area — Dragon Monarch!Jong-in crumb ✨
alksdjfadslf I want to get him in the game so bad. I'm glad that they included that from the manhwa though
I was going to make a separate post about this, but since you brought up-
Some headcanons I have about Dragon Monarch!Choi Jong-In (mostly based on books about dragons I've read in the past and your headcanons about Destruction Monarch!Cha Hae-In):
Dragons like to hoard specific types of objects, such as vases, shoes, etc. Jong-In likes to collect gold things
Jong-in can turn into a dragon. The first few times he did it were excruciating because it felt like he was being ripped apart while transforming. It gets a little better later on, but it's still very painful, so he doesn't rely on it too much
Dragons have their own language since Jong-In learns fairly quickly and tends to communicate with the dragons in it
Jong-In isn't that affectionate with the dragons, but he's fond of them and tends to help them hunt and get them gifts for their hoards
Being with the dragons is calming to Jong-In, so he checks up on them often to make sure they're doing okay also sometimes sleeps beside them because of how comfortable he feels around them
Jong-In actually acts like a father figure to the dragons without realizing it. The dragons treat him with respect in response and address him as "Your Highness" even though Jong-In tells them they don't need to do that
When he starts experiencing intense emotions, his dragon horns and scales appear as a sort of defense mechanism. He has tight control over his mana, but the physical changes aren't something he's used to suppressing yet
Jong-In doesn't need to wear the glasses anymore since his eyesight got better but still wears them to protect his eyes since he is still sensitive to bright lights
Jong-In can breathe fire out of his mouth but chooses not to since he has less control over fire that way
Jong-In enjoys fighting alongside the dragons since he doesn't need to worry about them being hurt by his fire as much

What if Jinwoo kept the ant queen pt.2
She enjoys being in the shadow castle. The reason being is that it is dark there. And she loves darkness. When she was on Jeju island she couldn’t fully experience being in completely dark space because of the mana crystals that were giving off light.
She actually tried to understand the architecture and engineering so later on tried to search it up online. Even though she couldn’t draw herself she always had a humanoid like ant by her side and sometimes even Beru helped her sketch some building to build for their liege.
She is really talkative and loud.
Ant queen once suggested to give Jinwoo a new title. Just like Antares being the “Emperor of the berserk dragons” she wanted Jinwoo to be “Emperor of the undead” or “Emperor of the shadows” but neither Jinwoo saw as appropriate for himself. Saying that “not all of the undead creatures follow my orders” and “the literal shadows cannot be manipulated by me .
Jinwoo’s mom does not enjoy the company of the ant queen. She was still awake when the S-rank gate appeared on the Jeju island and even if she didn’t saw how hunters actually died she knew they died of hands of the ant army. And having a queen of the army who was responsible for the death of so many people is unpleasant.
Ant queen tried to tell Jinwoo about the monarchs and Architect but the system blocked all of her attempts. She was also really sad when she understood that the new liege to whom she grew fond of is soon going to be no more. But yippe Ashborn didn’t had any plans of possessing the body of Jinwoo. She may had thanked him in her mind. But kept it to herself. Maybe out of respect of Ashborn even if she understood that he had betrayed the other monarchs.
-I quite enjoy your company- the ant queen once said to the earth ant. How she saw it? No idea.
She is the only one who got the permission of eating heads of the magic beasts.
-So uh, how do you make your head not to explode from all the thought that comes from your telepathic communication?- Jinwoo asked once the ant queen because clearly Ashborn didn’t teach him how to filter all the shadows thoughts. She gladly shared her experience.
She ate once Iron. She does not feel guilty. Would do that again.
She is a good digger herself. Even though her ants are doing most of the work she still knows how to dig tunnels.
She likes to play with Kaisel. Most of the time they play chess. And yes, Kaisel is actually very intelligent Wyvern (she was one of the most trusted dragons of Antares. Source: solo leveling arise)
Hates water. Hates the Jeju island. Hates the island on where the first shadow castle was build.
Her eyes are actually even more expressive then Beru. Now we know from who he got that.
Beru and her together proclaimed war on Chat gpt. Why? Jinwoo started asking it questions instead of them. They are working now double hard. (They acquired a lot of knowledge from many people so they are basically a Wikipedia)
She begged Jinwoo to walk alongside with him. Did not succeeded. Looks enviously at Beru every time he walks with their liege.
Likes to bully Iron. No particular reason to why
Doesn’t like Liu Zhigang. She just shares the emotions with Beru. You know like “The enemy of my friend is also my enemy” kind of situation
I did add some of my personal headcanons of Jinwoo to this post.

HEAR ME OUT SOLO LEVELING FANS WHAT IF SOLO LEVELING VERSE HAS ITS OWN VERSION OF HPGWARTS HOUSES???!!
(ik there are a total of nine monarchs but i will only die it down to Shadow Monarch, Beast Monarch, Monarch of Plagues, Dragon Monarch, and Frost Monarch)
In which the Council of Monarchs have agreed that in order to maintain the peace and balance of the world they sign peace treaties signifying the end of their long-fought war to put an end to the destruction.
The Dragon Kingdom, the country of prosperity and gold, the land of the rich and vile nobles. The kingdom most sought after for all of its glory.
The Frost Kingdom, Country for the savred and most religous people. The most devout and dedicated in worshipping their monarch. But also the country for elves(ofc).
The Plague Kingdom, the kingdom of medicine. The land of growth and abundance. The mainland for transportations and goods. The most crowded of kingdoms since farmers live here.
The Beast Kingdom, homeland of the warriors, the vikings and all that. The country for the proud people of song and war. Sparta-ish if you may.
And most importantly, the kingdom in which the strongest beings(suho and jinwoo) presides— The Shadow Kingdom. The land that is most benevolent and humble. The land that is pure nobility at heart and mind. And also the mainland of trade and business.
BUT NOT ONLY THAT, each kingdom has their own grand academy that trains students to become worthy soldiers/nobles/heads of their family etC!!! because of the arrival of monarchs, ofc people have powers and the academies are built not just to educate their people, IT IS ALSO TRAINING GROUNDS FOR FUTURE GENERATIONS!!!!
imagine the POTENTIAL PLS LISTEN TO ME SOLO LEVELING FANS LISTTTEEENNNNNNN!!!!!

so the end is much... worse. I'm not quite satisfied with this ending like I get his situation and why he chose to go back in time but to see this ending and how he fought those battles alone in the end left me unsatisfied. At least he got the people back he lost
If they let Jin-woo die I'll riot. This became my favorite webtoon in such a short of time but IF they let him die it'll become my most hated one...
#maybe I'm just like that because I like blood and destruction.#and to see not a satisfiying battle between the dragon king and the shadow monarch in the end#like in the past he got help from the rulers but then when he went to the past would've been nice to see a good battle#but it was over in an blink of an eye in the webtoon...#this could've been my fave webtoon easily but this ending though... why tell me why#I already bought phone cases about solo leveling *cough only using my nezuko demon slayer case*#I have a thing for phone cases but since I'm going OT I'm going to end this here#zey reads#solo leveling

Solo Leveling AU! Choi Jong-in and Cha Hae-in as half-siblings through Antares!
Once, Antares fell in love with a mortal woman and in his normal disguise, he managed to charm her and soon got her pregnant. Shocked upon learning it, Antares chose to leave her by making an excuse that he must fly to another country for a business trip and promised that he'd come back. Little did the woman know, it was a lie coated in sweet words.
Nine months later, the woman gave birth to a healthy baby boy, who had red hair just like his biological father. The woman felt her heart shatter at the sight of the hair color because it became a stark reminder of the man who had made her heart flutter in thousands of ways.
Sure, the woman wanted to love her son more than anything, but it appeared her love was not enough to erase the traces of her baby's biological father. Now, Jong-in grew up under his nanny's care while his mom was a busy woman who hardly spent a day with him due to her work.
His mom never missed his birthdays and other special occasions in his life, so Jong-in was happy. But what he couldn't grasp was how other kids had lots of memories with their parents whereas he, having only a mother, felt completely out of place. He wondered where his father could be, yet his mom always refused to answer.
Going back to Antares, the Destruction Monarch had once again fell in love with a woman. She was a master at taekwondo and also an athlete. Her skills made him impressed. However, unlike his first woman, Antares felt quite challenged at the blondie beauty — she was not easy to be swayed despite being soft-hearted and was always busy.
After a few more attempts, Antares finally got the woman to go out with him. They'd mainly spend dinners together. And eventually, Antares got her pregnant; he was joyful when he learned that he was becoming a father.
Unfortunately, with his duties as a Monarch being called, Antares had to leave his lover behind. But when he came back after one earth year, he discovered that his lover was now engaged to someone else, along with a little girl who was likely his. Enraged and betrayed, Antares decided to disappear from earth for good.
Cha Hae-in was born to a loving family. Her mother was a sportswoman and her father was a literature professor. But little did she know, there was a secret her mother was hiding from her and that secret was about her biological father.
A few years passed, and when gates began showing up, Jong-in and Hae-in instantly awakened as S-Rank hunters. Not just by fate, rather by their inhumane genes that had also given them innate powers. Choi Jong-in, who had inherited his father's flames, and Cha Hae-in, who had inherited her father's unrivaled determination for battle.
They worked under the same guild together. Jong-in's mother had long passed away before the gates arrived and Hae-in's parents had been killed during the first invasion of monsters.
And somewhere in the dimensional gaps, Antares felt a strong connection that was directed to his children, which meant that they had gotten their awakening. His lips tugged into a grin. He was the first and only Monarch to pass his genes to a new life — not one, but two. The Dragon Monarch has two successors.
How did he tell them? Simple, Antares came to earth and instead of clashing with Jin-woo, he teleported himself to the places where his children were battling the monsters. And for the first time, he witnessed how powerful they had become, and he couldn't be prouder. It was like he was seeing himself in two different humans.
Jong-in was the first one to notice him. "You! You're— you're that—"
"Your father." Antares said to him.
Jong-in stood in both bewilderment and shocked.
And not long after, Antares caught something that was heading toward him. He looked at the corner of his eye and saw a familiar force. He immediately blocked the sword with his hand and faced the furious eyes of none other than his daughter.
"You fight good, daughter," he told her.
Hae-in almost tripped from her balance at those words.
To prove himself that he was indeed their father, Antares released his mana and summoned theirs where all three of their mana matched together like mirrors.
Now, everything dawned on the two hunters. Jong-in realized why his mom refused to answer him about his father and why she was frequently avoiding him when he was a child. Hae-in thought the man who raised her was her father, but no, he was actually her stepfather.
After a while, Antares made a deal with the hunters. He would cease the war under one condition: he was going to take his children with him.
Many of the hunters protested, especially from the Hunters Guild, and Jin-woo, who had arrived in the scene just in time, was willing to fight the Destruction Monarch until the end. However, Jong-in and Hae-in stepped up and gave in. They were going with their father.
And of course, being the Guild Master and the Vice Master, Jong-in and Hae-in knew they must do what they thought was best, and that included leaving everyone behind. Jong-in entrusted Tae-gyu, Dong-wook, and Yoon-ho to take his guild members. And Jin-woo, who still wouldn't want to surrender, watched in disdain. Hae-in had to walk toward him and say that everything would be fine, that she would be fine.
Jin-woo didn't say anything else as he was too hurt to know that his friend was a child of his biggest enemy. Though, that wouldn't change the way he saw her anyway, it was just that seeing her leave was more painful.
True to his words, all of the remaining monsters had turned into dust when Antares took his children to his realm.
Jong-in, knowing that he must light up the atmosphere a bit for Hae-in, said: "well, would you look at that! Who knew my second-in-command is actually the sister I never thought I would have?" The corner of Hae-in's mouth twitched. Their friendship was one thing, but finding out they were related was a whole different thing.
Sure, he may be contented with Hae-in as his half-sister, but Jong-in felt hatred against Antares, who was his father in the entire time and had not once showed up where he needed a parent. On the other hand, Hae-in felt neutral about her true father, though she felt bad for Jong-in, who practically yelled at Antares after a minute since they had arrived in the Monarch's realm.
Antares just spoke a single "sorry" and was unfazed at the scowl his son had given him. He did not regret that he hadn't showed up in Jong-in's life since he had duties to fulfill as a Monarch. But now that he finally got to be with his children, he would do anything to make them more powerful and live up to being heirs of the Destruction Monarch.
#jong-in has potential to be a descendant/child of antares#jong-in and hae-in as half-siblings hmm???#this is mainly an introduction of this au — i'll post more headcanons about this family#solo leveling au: heirs of destruction#solo leveling#choi jong in#cha hae in#antares#sl antares#solo leveling au: ruler and monarch successors

My dilemma;
Life had been feeling strangely hollow lately. Days blurred into nights, and nights felt like endless voids. Work was monotonous, and even the usual distractions—games, books, and random internet rabbit holes—had lost their luster. On one particularly uneventful evening, I stumbled upon Solo Leveling.
“Why not?” I thought, setting my phone to stream it from the Ahjin Guild arc. I’d heard about it for years but never took the plunge.
What began as casual curiosity soon morphed into an all-consuming obsession. Jinwoo’s ascent from an unremarkable E-rank Hunter to the Shadow Monarch resonated with something deep within me. Every chapter, every battle, and every heart-wrenching decision gripped me tighter.
By the time I reached the final battle arc, I realized that this wasn’t just a story about monsters or leveling up—it was about life, purpose, and the sacrifices we make to achieve something meaningful. Here is the tale, reimagined, through my lens :
Solo Leveling:
Jinwoo’s world was one where strength determined worth, and weakness meant obscurity or death. As an E-rank Hunter, Jinwoo was the epitome of vulnerability, risking his life in low-level dungeons just to scrape by.
But life, much like a dungeon, doesn’t abide by fairness. It throws you into peril with no guarantee of survival. What do you do then?
Jinwoo’s transformation began in a way that mirrored those rare turning points in our own lives: the unexpected opportunity, the unrelenting choice to rise above despair.
As I watched Jinwoo form the Ahjin Guild, it was hard not to see parallels with the entrepreneurial spirit of real life. Building something from nothing takes courage, vision, and the grit to push forward when others doubt you.
Jinwoo didn’t just gather allies—he inspired loyalty and respect. And isn’t that what life is about? Finding people who believe in your purpose, even when you’re walking a path no one else dares to tread.
By the time Jinwoo confronted the Monarchs, he had transcended mortal limitations, becoming the Shadow Monarch. But what struck me wasn’t his power—it was his loneliness.
With great power comes great isolation. Jinwoo’s choices, while heroic, often came at a personal cost. He missed moments with his family, lost allies, and carried the weight of entire worlds on his shoulders.
And yet, he never faltered. His strength wasn’t just in his abilities—it was in his unwavering resolve to protect those he loved.
The climactic confrontation with Antares, the Dragon Monarch, was more than just a spectacle of might. It was the culmination of everything Jinwoo stood for: the refusal to surrender, the willingness to sacrifice, and the determination to find purpose even in the face of despair.
When Jinwoo chose to reset the timeline and erase himself from the memories of everyone he loved, it hit me harder than I expected. This was the ultimate act of selflessness—a lesson in what it means to give everything for a cause greater than yourself.
My reflections ;
By the time I finished watching, the sun was rising, painting the sky with hues of orange and pink. I sat there, contemplating Jinwoo’s journey and how it mirrored the struggles we all face:
Like Jinwoo, we start life as weak and uncertain, learning and growing through trials and failures.
Every battle he fought wasn’t just for survival but to protect something meaningful. Isn’t that why we persevere in our own lives?
In the end, Jinwoo’s story was about what we’re willing to give up to ensure a better future—not just for ourselves but for those we care about.
As I turned off the screen, I felt something I hadn’t felt in a long time—purpose. Jinwoo’s story reminded me that even in the darkest of dungeons, there’s always a path forward, as long as we have the courage to take the first step.
Below is the link to this amazing dude that does a summary of the manhwa.

Hi! Was wondering if I could ask you something since you run a solo leveling account. It's only cuz I wanna get to know how other people think of the Monarchs really, because I don't want to only use the scarse source material for my basis but— enough said, How do you think the Monarchs reacted to the Absolute Being's death? Do you think they ever tried to guilt trip the Rulers about that? Did they care even an ounce?
They don't look the least sympathetic to me honestly but they were also following rules of destroying planets and so forth because of the Absolute Being so like... they should have looked at least a bit concerned I feel, and canon ain't giving me anything to go off. I wouldn't like to think of them as simple minded bloodthirsty beasts because they had intelligence, they had armies which at some point would have needed some convincing to do for destroying all those planets, and even the insect Monarch seemed attached to her own kind. They seemed able to be more than just chaos incarnates, heck even the monarchs knew each other and how they would react to different things, they also had trust upon each other, or at least on the dragon Monarch, and they were also fighting against one another to best lead a course of action instead of just agreeing to everything in unison (unlike the rulers)Rulers.
Sorry for the long rant tho. I just wanna see another person's views on them.
I’m kind of on the fence about this one. Would the Monarchs have cared about the Absolute Being’s death? How well did they even know the Absolute Being (AB)?
We have zero indication in canon of whether the AB ever actually interacted with the Monarchs. Did the AB ever tell the Monarchs their purpose was destruction? Or did he just give them destructive urges? Did they know they were following the AB’s plan or did they think they were rebelling by destroying planets? (Planets that the AB may have made? Was the AB actually god in this universe or did he just create some things? Who knows!)
And how much contact did the Rulers have with the Absolute Being? They seemed surprised when the AB didn’t respond to their plea of aid, which lead to the revelation that this whole war was just entertainment for the AB. And Ashborn was loyal enough to the AB to die trying to protect him, so presumably the Rulers must have had some kind of contact with the AB.
Is that why the Rulers thought the AB would be on their side? They were in contact with their Maker and the Monarchs weren’t? Did the Rulers think they were following the will of the Absolute Being and the Monarchs weren’t?
What kind of revelation would that have been for the Monarchs, to realize that their Maker had created them for destruction, after all? Or did they always know? Did they mock the Rulers for never realizing it before? Did the Monarchs always know that this war was just a game to the Absolute Being?
Why else would they be created for destruction, with counterparts that were made to try and stop them? And how ironic would they find it, that the beings made for destruction weren’t the ones to kill their Maker, but the ones made for protection and creation were?
But it must be some kind of mind fuck to know you were created to fight and die for your Maker’s amusement. Would they care about the Absolute Being’s death, when the being never cared about whether they lived or died?
Can you miss what you never had?
Were the Monarchs ever children, craving a parent’s love? Or were they fully formed adults, independent and needing no one else?
At the very least, it seems they’ve always had each other.
Perhaps they’ve survived this long in their war against the Rulers because they’ve always had each other’s backs. Antares keeps them from fighting amongst themselves, directing their destructive urges to those outside their group.
Though I’m not sure how loyal they are to each other, whether they mourn. Antares didn’t seem to have much reaction to Baran’s death.
I think it was implied, or maybe outright stated and I can’t remember, that Antares actually planned for Baran and the Beast Monarch, whatever his name is, to betray Ashborn. So, it seems like spite rules them more than practicality. They could have killed off the other Rulers by working with Ashborn, but instead they let their grudge from when Ashborn was a Ruler shape their actions. Maybe their pride couldn’t handle needing a former Ruler to take out the other Rulers.
Maybe Antares didn’t like the competition. He was the strongest Monarch before. If the Rulers were killed, what would Ashborn do after that? Would he leave the group or try to lead? Assuming Ashborn has any morals, he wouldn’t really have been okay with the Monarchs continuing their quest to destroy planets. Antares might have known that and tried to use the element of surprise to take out their strongest opponent first.
After Baran was killed, though, it seems like Antares tried to do some damage control. To get Ashborn to keep working with them instead of turning his new Monarch powers against them. Because if Ashborn had joined up with the Rulers again, with his new shadow powers, I’ve no doubt that the Monarchs would have lost.
I’m not sure where I’m going with this now…
I guess, I think the Monarchs are capable of emotions and stuff, but I do think they like destruction more than other things. It’s what they were made for, so I think they were made to enjoy it.
I don’t think they would necessarily miss the Absolute Being because I don’t think they had a close bond with the AB. And they especially wouldn’t miss the AB if they knew that the AB just saw them as entertainment.
Beyond that, it’s possible they could be friends with each other. They constantly go on fun ‘trips’ to destroy worlds together. Maybe they’re attached to some of the beings in their army. Probably not the weakest ones, since they would have a higher chance of dying, but I could see them getting attached to the stronger members of their army. Probably more like pets than friends, though.
Since canon gave us nothing of their backstory, it’s really up to the individual to decide whether they’re like a found family that murders together or just a bunch of assholes who work together to avoid getting murdered by the Rulers. Personally, I see them somewhere in between, where some of them get along better than others.
And I’m curious to see if anyone else has any headcanons for them. Feel free to reply or reblog with your own thoughts. ^_^
