The strike has nothing to do with the government? It's between the hotel companies and employees. They're asking her to postpone because hotels have ongoing strikes outside of them. They're asking her, one of the biggest pop stars in the world, not to put her fans in the position of crossing a picket line if they travel to see her.

I love Taylor, but she really should delay and I'll be disappointed if she doesn't.

anyway customers do not cross picket lines. workers do. when I worked in a school and we were on strike some students had to go in for an exam. they were not crossing a picket line because they were not the ones on strike.

He can handle a single Hellhound, sure, but one of these particular motherfuckers typically means more of them are just around the corner, and Striker doesn't particularly like the thought of being overpowered over a simple misunderstanding.

There isn't anything else that can explain, after all, the missing gun from Striker's collection. The claims of an attack when Striker hadn't even been in pride half an hour ago. a quick word about the writers guild strike, for those of you who currently AREN'T guild members but would like to be one day: the WGA has always strongly enforced its right to ban from future membership any non-member who crosses the picket line and engages in scab writing, aka writing for any of the struck companies during the WGA strike.

so if you're seeing job openings for screenwriters at places like netflix, amazon, paramount, etc and you're thinking "hey, maybe i'll apply and get my foot in the door," just know that you WILL be scabbing and you WILL be barred from ever obtaining WGA membership. permanently.

during the wga/sag-aftra strike, we may see:

film in other countries continuing as usual, but those actors/writers are NOT crossing picket lines! other countries unions often have rules where they can’t strike in solidarity with american unions.

new indie movies separate from hollywood studios. indie movies can continue as usual too, and may even use union actors if they follow certain guidelines and/or get permission from the union.

awards shows, although they might look different and may be postponed. if there are award shows during the strike, there’s a chance they will just be live conferences announcing winners with no celebrations attached.

celebrities will not be promoting their work during this time— that WOULD be crossing the picket line! yes, this includes social media. they can still post on social media, as long as it doesn’t pertain to their work.

a lot more reality tv. this happened the last time there was a writers strike, and it will certainly happen again.

actors will also not be able to campaign for awards. this awards season is going to be a strange one.

propaganda from hollywood. they are already trying to flip the narrative by claiming they can break the unions, but they can’t. the strikers have the power. stand with them for however long this takes!

I'm going to take the phrase "cross the picket line" away from tumblr until everyone actually starts reading strike demands and listening to union leadership and strike captains.

Random bloggers declaring things "crossing the picket line" means nothing. Read the actual goddamn strike information from the actual goddamn strikers. Stop calling for your own boycotts, stop trying to decide what is and isn't scabbing based on your own opinions, stop making judgment calls disconnected from the actual demands of the actually-striking workers.

Y'all have got to start reading the unions' official documents before arbitrarily deciding what is or isn't "proper solidarity" based entirely on your own feelings. Stop muddying the waters just because it makes you feel more involved.
