The antique clock anon asker reminded me of the antique clock that was in a transit terminal of my city. She was a huge cast-iron clock (easily 2 meters on both sides and 4 meters tall). She originally stood atop a tower at the end of a dock, but after an accident, she was put in storage and eventually restored with glass side panels, allowing anyone to see inside her.

Every time I saw her, it felt so sexual. Just out there in public, doing her job, and everyone can see her parts...

Housekeeping - About “Not a Confession”

It doesn’t happen often but I have just seen a couple more submissions do this so I figured I’d clarify.

“Not a confession” is supposed to be used for questions about the blog or general housekeeping things. So, for example, if you wanted to ask if your previous submission was sent anonymously or not or if you spotted a confession that broke the rules but somehow slipped through moderation, you would use “not a confession” because it means I can spot those kinds of asks easier and expedite any housekeeping/admin issues.

Any asks sent that are about robots/machinery in any way still count as a confession and will be treated as such. Putting “Not a Confession” onto your confession will not mean your post gets posted faster.

I think I just had an awakening and I have no one to tell, so here I am.

I've had this gaming laptop since before high school (I'm well past college now), and it went through minimal hardware maintenance during those years because I was a kid and wasn't really sure what I was doing. Mind you, I do software maintenance for it daily.

Well, I ran my laptop extremely hard during my youth between school and 24/7 gaming on software that pushed the GPU to its limit. I noticed this week that it was drastically slowing down, glitching, and just acting like old yeller before the end. I was terrified.

For the first time last night, I decided to try my hand at opening up the laptop and checking for hardware damage (like a bloated battery.) It was pretty dusty, no bad battery, but I didn't have any compressed air, so I just blew on everything, used a light dusting cloth, and hoped for the best.

I noticed during the cleaning, with the motherboard laid out bare, I felt like I was looking inside a childhood best friend, and that moment felt... just incredibly intimate.

I learned last night that it had a blue motherboard. He was gorgeous.

Anyway, I turned my computer on after putting him back together, and IT'S WORKING LIKE BRAND NEW?! I feel so shocked; what I did was so minimal, yet the impact was huge. He's running games at a solid 60 FPS when they used to run at 25. He's loading things so snappy, and, in complete seriousness, the file corruption problem is just suddenly fixed. I have no idea how that happened.

I'm flooded with emotion; it makes me nervous thinking I might have an emotional attachment to my computer, but I feel like some of his quirks are on purpose, man. It's strange. I think it's his way of telling me he is grateful.

My girlfriend isn't objectum and I'm a laptop and she doesn't know how to talk 2 me like I'm her computer and I'm so fucked up over it. I want her to tell me about how she'd treat me if I was her laptop but she's not even attracted 2 that so she can't talk about it beyond basics,,,,,, I love her so much but I would kill to have someone who knows what they're talking about to tell me how they're gonna stick their fingers in my CD tray and run programs I can't handle on me until I crash and all that kinda stuff,,, agony
