Lost Temple of Dirthamen
God of Secrets
Related Location: Exalted Plains
The PC enters the flooded ruins. There is a small camp near the entrance.
PC: Someone's been here.
Blackwall: Not for some time. The camp is abandoned.
Iron Bull: I doubt they left all their stuff here out of charity.
Cassandra: And never left.
They come across the first veilfire rune.
PC: It's strange that I can understand that.
Solas: The secrets of this temple have remained unspoken for too long. They wish to be known.
Vivienne: Ancient magic at work, allowing any who come to understand the secrets of this place.
Dorian: A spell of comprehension, perhaps? Amazing that it still functions.
They find the first remain of the God of Secrets.
Mage PC: The altar’s absorbing the fire, eating the magic. Non-mage PC: It’s as if the altar’s waking up.
After the party defeats the first group of enemies and collects the remains.
PC: It's… warm.
Cole: It's alive.
Varric: Juicy, too. Pleasant!
Sera: Ugh. Why are you touching it? ㅤㅤ ㅤ
Solas: It is alive because the creature connected to it is alive. It is but one piece of the whole.
Vivienne: A form of blood magic. Organs kept whole and separate… as punishment, perhaps?
Dorian: All part of a ritual, I'd say. Whoever that belongs to, they're not dead. Not really.
Mage PC: Kept fresh through magic. Part of a ritual of some kind… elsewhere in the ruin?
They find one of the dead explorers.
Iron Bull: Stabbed in the back. Poor bastard.
Blackwall: An explorer. What killed him, I wonder?
Cassandra: One of the explorers from the camp. Where are the rest of them?
PC: One of the explorers. Or his remains, anyway.
The PC finds another explorer.
PC: Another one of the explorers?
Cole: He hid here. He died afraid.
Sera: Died with his loot. That's stupid.
Varric: Took his chest and crawled into a corner to die.
If the PC walks under the small waterfalls, their torch gets extinguished.
PC: Aaand the torch goes out.
The PC finds a locked gate in the sanctuary.
Cole: The whispers are louder in there. I can see them. PC: You can see the whispers? Cole: Yes.
Varric: This place is bigger than you'd think.
Sera: Deep one, this. I wonder what it's hiding?
PC: No way through this gate? Wonder what it's made of.
They continue exploring and find a key.
PC: Where could this key lead?
Cassandra: One of the passages back in the ritual area, perhaps?
Blackwall: I bet the poor fools never had a chance to use it.
Iron bull: Treasure room, if we're lucky.
PC: Somewhere back in the ritual area, perhaps?
They return to the locked gate.
PC: So this is where the key leads.
The PC decends the stairs into tthe center of the temple.
Dorian: And here's where the magic happens. Literally. Solas: The heart of this place. Here is where the ancient rituals and prayers took place. Vivienne: The old magic is strong here. I believe this is the heart of the ruined temple. Mage PC: The heart of the temple. The old magic is incredibly strong here, I can feel it. Non-mage PC: This must be the heart of the ruined temple.
They start to place the remains on the pedestals.
Dorian: Careful. Bringing those organs here, putting them back together… who knows what will happen? Solas: I recommend caution. There is no telling where this ancient ritual will lead us. Vivienne: Just be careful what you're assembling with those organs, my dear. Ancient rituals like this could lead to anything. Mage PC: It's part of a ritual, tied to the organs. A summoning rite of some kind?" Non-mage PC: Now that’s interesting.
They place all six remains.
PC: That did the trick.
Varric: Check out the mysteriously appearing thing in the middle.
Vivienne: And the last piece of the puzzle appears.
Blackwall: And some type of artifact has appeared.
Sera: See? Bad idea. Why do you have so many?
Cole: One more to do, and then he comes.
Dorian: Are we really doing this? Best prepare yourself, then.
They summon a demon and defeat it.
PC: So that was the high priest of the temple.
Solas: Imprisoned in silence and despair by his own followers. A sad legacy.
Vivienne: Filled with despair and imprisoned forever by his own followers.
Dorian: Rather sad, if you think about it.
On the way out, sided templars: Venatori: Excellent! It seems you have done out work foe us this time, Inquisitor. PC: Venatori! Don’t they ever give up?
On the way out, sided mages: Red templar: They have the artifact! The Elder One requires it! PC: Red templars!

Okay, 40h in, some stray thoughts:
I keep going back and forth between 'oh it's not really that bad after all' and 'ugh why' basically. Every time there's actually a nice bit of writing etc. the frustration at some other aspect soon takes over.
I'm particularly not fond of the random faceless mook hordes that keep respawning in certain locations (seriously, DA2 was bad enough). Or the dumb pointless boss battles you have to do in order to unlock new areas in the Fade where your reward is... another boss battle. And more faceless mooks. And maybe some gear. And maybe more of Solas's tedious sob story if you're lucky. The ghost of the live co-op thing really keeps quite literally haunting the narrative.
Oh, and there's even a fucking gladiator arena. I'm guessing that was originally for PvP. And now it's just there just in case you didn't already get your fill of combat elsewhere. And wanted to ogle Isabela who now inexplicably wears only a bikini and thigh-high boots. Because apparently that's Rivaini cultural outfit now or something? Some pseudo-Aztec thing? Sure. Whatever.
Honestly, just imagine if they'd put as much time and effort into making sure the story is narratively sound and makes any kind of sense as a sequel to its predecessors as they did into crafting the combat system and the needlessly byzantine combat skill tree. *sigh*
I do really like the new exploration mechanics though. I like that I can strafe on narrow ledges and vault over fences and through windows and such. Not super fond that I can magically just use my absent companions' exploration abilities because of my mystical magical all-powerful MacGuffin, though. Guess some people really don't feel like changing their party composition ever. 🙄
And that's another thing. This game coddles the player way too much to the point of treating us like particularly dense toddlers. Not only are there tons of visual options that basically guide you by the hand and point out everything relevant (all of which I obviously immediately turned off) but the dialogue also will very unsubtly tell you what to do at every turn. Like... Taash, babe, we're both Lords of Fortune, I don't think I need to be told to check out if there's something behind the waterfall. And if someone is so new to RPGs to not know something that basic, they need to discover it for themselves, not have it spelled out to them. Honestly, I thought this game's age limit was 18, not 12.
Speaking of Taash and all things unsubtle... I feel like there was a way to introduce their struggle with gender identity in a less... anvilicious way. And maybe come up with some in-universe lore and terminology instead of just defaulting to modern real-world vocabulary. The codex entry in particular frankly felt like breaking the fourth wall and talking directly to the player. And I say this as someone whose own gender identity is pretty nebulous.
Frankly, I'm surprised someone hasn't already literally told Bellara she has ADHD. Yet. I'm guessing she and Taash are relatable to some players, but to me they feel... vaguely insulting, honestly, because it really is about as subtle as a brick in the face. I'm also getting the vibe they're both someone's self insert to some degree at least. Which isn't new for DA, but... yeah.
What else... Oh. Yeah. The less said about the main plot the better. Varric, this really is your worst book yet.
Speaking of Varric, it's pretty funny how he keeps telling Rook to please get some sleep. Sure, mate, would love to but a) all I get for a bed is apparently a bare divan in a room with a massive glowing aquarium b) every time I try to sleep some smarmy elf keeps mansplaining at me in my dreams. Which, you know, is something I shouldn't have in the first place as a dwarf. Maybe I should just start chugging coffee with Lucanis. (But honestly, only Taash and Davrin get to have actual beds, everyone else has to make do with cots, bedrolls, divans, and... an embalming slate??)
Oh, and I'll be really surprised if Varric survives this story. I mean, he's barely there in the first place and keeps talking like some ailing relative who secretly has consumption in a Victorian novel. I mean, his writer was laid off after all.
The pacing and structure of this game is extremely weird. The beginning was particularly rough, then it got better, but it's still a bit all over the place.
Oh, right. I'm fairly sure we were promised cool bard songs at some point. I haven't heard a single one yet. Unless that one street performer in Treviso strumming Enchanters counts, which I don't believe does. It was nice to hear it, though, as much as it was a bit contextually odd to choose that song in particular. Ah well, I guess Empress of Fire would have been even odder.
This is also the most forgettable Hans Zimmer soundtrack I have heard in my life. I can't think of a single theme or leitmotif off the top of my head, but the Inquisition theme on the other hand was instantly recognizable. I might say he's just new to writing video game soundtracks, but... dude's famous for his highly catchy, recognizable and evocative themes. Weird.
But hey! As much as I don't like the cartoony character models, the game is actually otherwise really pretty and has some really lovely visual designs in environments and architecture etc. It's also very stable and smooth for a brand-new game, I've only had one crash and two obvious bugs so far. That's always a big win for a studio. Too bad its actual problems are too baked in to be fixable with some patches.
Anyway, that's it for now. Lots of negativity, I know, but I actually do like playing this game for the most part. I just have to... not think of it as a Dragon Age, basically. Because for all the bells and whistles, or maybe because of them, it really doesn't feel like one. There are glimpses here and there of a great DA game it could have been, but unfortunately, the final result is a bit of a Frankenstein's monster of different and largely incompatible concepts hastily sewn together.

The Bard and The Champion Ch 5 - Rewritten
The rain started the morning of the third day. A thin mist became a drizzle which became a shower and by the time they navigated around Lake Calenhad it was a constant downpour. Spirits were low as the companions shivered from their waterlogged leathers and plate, hair matted to their foreheads and necks.
Cole seemed to be particularly miserable as he read the emotions of those around him, “Cold. Wet. What is joy? Like suffocating in misery, never finding a way out. There’s no way out.” He muttered to himself.
“I must ask, Hawke, does it always rain like the Maker is trying to drown the land, or are we just lucky?” asked Dorian.
“I’m not sure what they teach in those fancy Imperium circles Dorian, but even I can tell that this rain is unnatural.” Hawke raised a soaked, hooded head to the sky, water pooling around his eyes.
“The veil has been thinning exponentially the closer we get to our destination. Perhaps that is causing the torrential rains we are experiencing.” Solas offered.
“Ugh.” Sera groaned, “Why can’t rain just be rain?”
“Sometimes rain is just rain Sera, however this rain feels like it’s being amplified somehow.” Hawke scratched his sodden beard, one hand still tightly gripping his reins as his hart sloshed perilously through the muck.
It was after two full days of progressively worsening weather that they saw Inquisition troops greeting them. They had scouted the area and were now stationed just outside Crestwood. Their mounts were taken quickly and put with the others to be fed and cleaned. As Evelyn excused herself to speak with Scout Harding the others checked in with the officer in charge.
Luckily for them the Inquisition had been set up for a week so they had oiled tarps tied between the trees so that there was a bit of dry ground available within the forest for them to set up their tents. The perks of travelling with the Inquisitor. By the time Evelyn returned from her debriefing their tents were erected and the majority of the party had stripped out of their water-logged armour.

Solas/Dwarf Commission Work

UGH SHE DID IT AGAIN! The beautiful and wonderful @ashalle-art made me this perfect illustration of a scene in the most recent chapter of my Solas X Cadash fic Thick as Thieves. I'm also tagging @rare-egg-hunt just in case since this is a rare pair.
Here is the scene:
After two weeks, the only task that remains in the Emerald Graves is the disturbingly empty Chateau that haunts the upper cliff sides.
Shay has adamantly put it off, and now, with peace restored, the task of it looms over her figuratively as much as the place does literally.
“Are we to stay here forever, then,” Solas asks her, “as you put it off indefinitely?”
She squirms in front of him, and he places his hands gently on either side of her head to keep her still.
“Wouldn’t you want to? Now that we’ve finally got this place under control?” she says. “I mean, we passed that bear the other day, and it didn’t even sniff in my direction. This place is magical.”
Feeling the light breeze brush against his ears as he braids flowers into her hair under the shade of an old tree, Solas has to agree.
“As tempting as that may be, that place could be very dangerous. I don’t feel comfortable leaving it as it is.”
“Oh, I know it’s dangerous,” she says. “It’s got Murder House practically carved into the foundation. Can’t you put up a ward or something to scare people off and we all just leave it the hell alone?”
Solas cards his fingers through her hair. He will never tire of the way it feels, how it gleams in the sunlight. Yellow and purple flowers dot the small braid he has weaved to circle her head like a crown. He spent the morning collecting them, a childish whim he couldn’t ignore, and Shay happily complied when he asked to play with her hair. The springy curls capture each bloom perfectly. He studies the way they cascade from her braid down the wild length of it so he can paint it later.
He drinks in these moments greedily. There are not many of them left. The Inquisition closes in on Corypheus with every week. He has perhaps only a few months left with her – if he’s lucky.

Not Inquisitor as a Companion Banter
Cole’s reflection on their thoughts: "Still so young, what does it even mean to grow old? To lead? The Little Wolf will excell, she isn't the First because of her mother."
Comment(s) on Mages:
"My clan has a lot of mages, more than the average. So other clans call us super lucky. I have to agree. Do you know how exhausting it can be to lift the Aravels that have sails up into the air? We can do it in turns."
"When a Dalish mage isn't able to control their magic yet, the rest of us do little shows with our own magic, with sparkles, flowers or water, and the Healer shows them some healing spells. We show them the beauty of it, so they won't be scared, and then they are able to control it. The Circles do the opposite, and claim they are protecting mages and non mages."
Comment(s) on Templars:
"I really detest Templars. Most of the City Elves we welcome into our Clans are mages fleeing from Circles, you know? Our Healer was one of those, and our Second. The stories they have told me. They are... Horrible."
"I really rather not think about Templars..."
When looking for something:
"Etharavel, can you smell something?"
"Just like looking for blueberries!"
When finding a campsite:
"Etharavel likes this spot!"
"If you were my clan, I'd pick this spot to stay for a while."
When the Inquisitor Falls:
"Wait, you're still needed."
"Hang in there, we'll finish them off!"
When they are low on Health:
"Please, someone help!"
"Fenedhis, this hurts!"
When they see a Dragon:
"My sister says she defeated one like that with you once, is that true?"
"Is that a Dragon?" (Said like the 'Is that a chicken?' vine)
Default saying:
"How are you?"
"How are you, Hahren?" (High Approval)
*Etharavel growls* "How are you, Inquisitor?" (Low Approval)
Travel Banter with Canon Companions of your choice:
Fennas: So, you're Sera. The Friends of Red Jenny seem super uuh cool! Humbling down nobles, and all that. Ahah. It's like, out of that Shem story... How's it called? Robin Hood! He's very noble, in the true sense.
Sera: You're Terys sister right? Ugh, she's... nice, but pbbbttthhh
Fennas: ... Oh. Umm, what are we doing, Inquisitor? Ahah
___
Fennas: Oh, Hahren! I wanted to thank you again for uuuh getting me out of that room, ahah.
Solas: There's no need to thank me. Do you often get stuck behind doors?
Fennas: Umm... Yes. Doors just... Don't like me? My mom used to joke that Fen'Harel was the one doing that, because he was scared of facing me head on. It used to help me feel less humiliated. Ahah...
Solas: I can teach you a spell to open doors, Da'Fen. (Little wolf)
Fennas: Oh! Thank you, Hahren.
___
Vivienne: You are to lead your clan?
Fennas: Once my mother, the Keeper, steps down, yes.
Vivienne: Well, darling, it's never too soon to learn. If you'd like, I can give you some lessons on the Game. Gaining alliances with humans can only be beneficial for your clan.
Fennas: I'd be very honored, Hahren!
___
Fennas: Varric, you are friends with Merril, right?
Varric: Yes, Daisy, you know her?
Fennas: Yes! She comes to our Clan sometimes, when we go near Kirkwall. Thank you for not telling the whole truth in your book.
Varric: Of course.
Fennas: Well, but Terys and I were wondering, if you omitted that, you must have omitted more! Could we ask you some things? We have theories.
Varric: I... Stop making puppy eyes. I won't give in... Oh, alright, Fluffy.

“Don’t worry. Everybody’s afraid of something.” “Even you?” “No.” for whoever you would like?
Thanks! This was a good one, had fun writing it, albiet it was a bit chaotic, and I don't remember all the details of of JoH DLC! @dadrunkwriting
"Pbbblllfftttt," Sera blew with her tongue, obviously over their Avvar wilderness expedition already. "This place friggin' blows!" As they walked, she punted a pebble, her stomps evidence of her discomfort.
"I will admit, this ain't the Frostbacks I remembered twenty winters ago," Karrie shrugged, leading the party forward. "No Tevinter or Inquisitor shit that's for sure."
"How lucky," Sera grimaced, giving her surroundings the side eye all around. "You have run ins with gurguts and fadey demon shites back then?"
"Nah," Karrie laughed, grinning knowingly. "Only red lion encounters. Trust me, Sera, be glad we aren't where I grew up. Apex predator territory. You'll prefer a gurgut over something up there any day."
At that, Sera shuddered. "Ugh, red lions. You and red lions, what's up with that? You remind me of one, you know? All snarky and sneaky, lofty... RED!"
"Pfft, you've never even seen one in person, have you?" Karrie asked her, but rhetorically, for she already knew the answer.
"Well, no, but if I did I imagine it's roar would sound just like your laughter..."
And to that, Karrie answered with laughter. Odd, that she seemed so carefree in an otherwise unknown and dangerous environment, Solas observed. Perhaps she felt at home, despite never being here before. She was comfortable in this new land, traversed the terrain as if she knew it like the back of her hand.
"This island we're headed to," Solas cleared his throat, in an attempt at bringing the two laughing girls back to the task at hand. "Perhaps it could provide us clues to the Late-Inquisitor's final resting place?"
"Oh blah blah, Sol-ass," Sera rolled her eyes immediately. "Stop repeatin' what that Professer-bit Kenny-ric told us. I don't need a reminder we're going to a gross island full of gross things..."
"Aw, lighten up, Sera," Karrie nudged, tilting her head up towards the blue sky, dotted with clouds. The sun shone down on the party as they traversed through the swamps of the Basin. "It won't be that bad. Adventure! Mystery! Suspense! Varric will totally wish he were here, this is basically free novel material."
"I don't think anything could be worse than this," Blackwall said gruffly, gaze darting all around his surroundings. "Gurguts everywhere, damn bastards. I'm just hoping one doesn't glance our way and realize its around lunch time..."
"They can have a knuckle-sandwich for lunch!" Karrie exclaimed, laughing a bit before clearing her throat. "Nah, that joke's overused... But hey, we're almost outta this death trap."
Up ahead, the party could see a few buildings, near the shore. "That must be the boat house that Scout Harding mentioned," Solas observed, internally glad that they had made it without so much of a bite taken out of them from a hungry gurgut.
"Now, guess we'll have to see if they mind us takin' a boat to sail to their island?" Karrie asked, though she knew the answer. Chances are, they'd say no. She knew Avvar, and she knew that island from travelling tales of tongue. It was no ordinary island, but one that they said belonged to the Lady of the Skies. If the avvar avoided it, Karrie knew what was on that island likely wasn't very good, and if it linked to Inquisitor Ameridan? Even worse. She hadn't told her companions that, though, lest not in from of Sera. Besides, she anticipated the boat master telling them the exact same thing she would have anyways.
As the party neared the boat house, the sound of arguing carried on the wind and reached their ears. Karrie paused a moment, squinting her eyes to see what the commotion was all about. Up ahead, near the houses and docks, she saw a group of fur-clad people, and what stood out the most were two striped people, black and white colors adorning their seemingly naked body. Maker, were they naked? Karrie hoped not.
"I think those are some of those Hakkonites Harding mentioned as well," Karrie mused back to her party. "Let's proceed with caution. They'll probably attack us if we aren't careful."
"Agreed," Blackwall came, hand placed on his sword hilt.
"Wait wait!" Sera piped up, raising a hand eagerly. "What if we just waltz up there and scare the shit out of them?"
Karrie, Blackwall, and Solas alike all raised a brow to Sera's notion. "What are you planning, Sera?" Blackwall asked, his tone suspicious of the elf girl's potential antics. She was unpredictable, everyone had to admit it.
"Like, y'know, walk up to boat man over there, yeah?" Sera elaborated, pointing to one of the fur-clad avvar. "Be like 'Hey what's up tit-bits, im just on my way to kick some friggin' ass, yeah? Next cultist I see is getting it!'"
Solas looked at Sera in disbelief. "That's a preposterous plan, one that will certainly get us killed," he said, scowling. He then looked to Karrie, only to find her with her hand on her chin, eyes squinted. "Surely you aren't considering this, this... suicide plan, Inquisitor!"
"Oh, don't 'Inquisitor!' me," Karrie brushed him off, waving her hand in the air dismissively before shrugging. "Besides, I am considering it. Hell, I like the idea! That's friggin' hilarious!"
"Right?!" Sera snorted, and Blackwall found himself agreeing with the pair, much to Solas' discontent.
"What's the worst that can happen, Solas?" Blackwall asked, nudging the sour elf with his elbow teasingly. "I've gone through with crazier plans. Worst case scenario, they call our bluff, and blood spills. We've handled worse."
"What the hell, let's do it!" Karrie found herself grinning, giving Sera a little fist bump before clearing her throat and composing herself. "Alright, here goes nothin'. Just follow my lead."
The party continued on towards the boat huts, Solas begrudgingly tagging along. As soon as they neared closer, and were within shouting distance, Karrie raised her hand to flag down one of the avvar men. "Hej! Alfred! We're back!" She shouted over to him, waving her arm. As they approached closer, she could see the confused look that crossed over his face, but he didn't voice any of his objections. Good, so far.
Walking over to where all the avvar were gathered, Karrie found them all to be silent, all staring at the strangers that approached them. The black and white avvar looked tense, ready to pounce at a moment's notice, but Karrie wouldn't allow it.
"Hey, what's up with these guys?" Karrie asked, faking a concerned and confused smile towards the man she had previously addressed as 'Alfred', hands planted on her hips expectantly.
"They bothering you?" Blackwall added, crossing his arms across his chest.
It took the man a moment to register what exactly the dwarf was doing before slowly nodding. "Oh, yeah, but they were just passing by, right?" He shot a look towards the Hakkonite pair, who suddenly looked more wide eyed and nervous.
"Ah, well, good to hear," Karrie smiled, somehow in a threatening way to the Hakkonites, who shifted from one foot to another. "In fact, we were just passing by as well! We have word of some, er, what were they called? Hakkon-shits in the region? Yeah, we're on our way to kick their fucking asses."
At that last statement, the Hakkonites looked at each other, and promptly bolted without even a notice or second thought.
At that, Karrie's astonished face was genuine, as well as her laughter that followed suit after Sera burst out laughing. Soon, Blackwall's gruff laughter came, and Solas appeared to be the the only one who wasn't amused.
"I can't believe that actually worked," he sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose as his companions were reduced to wheezing idiots around him. And the avvar seemed even more so confused. It took them all a moment, but eventually, they composed themselves, wiping the tears from their eyes from laughing so hard.
"Ah, sorry about that, errr.... Alfred," Karrie giggled. "That was funny, though, yeah?"
"Damn right it was!" Sera affirmed her with laughter, gripping Karrie's shoulder.
"I suppose," the man said, looking at the party in a concerned way. "The... help.... was appreciated, though. Who are you lot?"
"Oh, right. Ahem, Inquisition, at your service," Karrie said. "And I lied about passing through. We actually need one of your boats, yeah, Alfred buddy pal?"
"It's Arvid."
"Close enough."
"A boat?" Arvid echoed. "What for?"
"We were hoping we could get over to that island, by chance."
"No can do," the man shook his head, just as Karrie had anticipated. "That island belongs to the Lady of the Skies, no avvar dares go near, for fear of upsetting her. If you really do wish to go, lowlander, you'll have to gain my Thane's blessing."
"Alright, will do," Karrie said bluntly. "You have a good one, yeah?"
And with that, the party departed rather abruptly, Karrie mocking the man as they trudged up the hill behind the boat huts. If Harding was correct, that was where the avvar keep was, and where Karrie would gain her blessing. "Meh meh meh, lowlander this, lowlander that," Karrie spat. "I was born at an altitude higher than your mother's climax when she conceived you!"
Sera's laughter trailed up the hill. "Ahaha, good one! Ahh... mother's climax.... pffft..."
Arvid was genuinely surprised to see the odd party back at his dockside, this time with a smug smile displayed on the dwarf's face. He found himself scowling like Solas was when she told him that she had actually gained Thane Svarah Sun-Hair's guest approval, and thus, blessing to sail to the island. Reluctantly, he allowed them to use his boat, untying the boat from the dock and giving them oars.
"You get one scratch on her, and it's straight to the Thane, you hear?" He frowned at the party as they all boarded the boat.
"Yeah, yeah, understood," Karrie nodded up at the man. "We know how to row a boat, yeah?"
With a gruff sigh, the man turned on his heel, leaving them to sail on their own. Karrie turned back to her party, expectant expression on her face. "Alright, lets get to rowing, yeah?"
It was she and Blackwall that handled the oars on each side, and it was Solas who handled the steering mechanism in the back. "So, what's on this island that the avvar are so scared of?" Sera piped up, fiddling with her hands as she had nothing to do, staring at Karrie.
"Pfft, I don't think they're scared, nah," Karrie answered. "Just wary. Cautious. If its the Lady's island, then perhaps they don't wish to disrespect her."
Finally, Solas spoke up, for the first time in what seemed like forever. "I sense a weakness in the veil, as we draw closer to the island," he said. "Perhaps many people have died here. Bloodshed has been known to weaken the veil."
"Veil this, veil that," Sera yawned. "Blah! Speak words, elfy."
Before Solas could retort to Sera's rudeness, Karrie came to his aid. "I think Solas is right," she said. "If that's true, then there must be a lot of spirits wandering here..."
"Hey, knock that off!" Sera suddenly protested, shifting back in her seat with an annoyed look on her face.
Catching Karrie's drift, Solas smirked. He figured it was his turn to have some chuckles on this expedition. "What?" He asked. "There are bound to be many spirits on this island, they are drawn to places were the veil is thinner. Perhaps there will be tears. Let us all hope that there are no demons lurking about."
"Ah, you know what you're doing, egg head!" Sera cried, looking more frantic than before. "Spirits and demons and shite! Can we turn this thing around? I suddenly don't want to go!"
"Are you scared, Sera?" Blackwall chimed in. "It's alright if you are."
"No, absolutely NOT!"
"Oh, we're teasing, Sera," Karrie chuckled. "Don't worry. Everyone's afraid of something."
"Even you?" Sera asked suspiciously.
"No."
"Agh! You jerk!" Sera said, smacking Karrie gently as the dwarf laughed smugly, along with Solas and Blackwall. "I know you're afraid of demons and spirits and shit just as much as I am!"
"Yeah," Karrie sighed. "But beggars can't be choosers. We've come this far, can't turn the boat around now."
"Yes we can!"

Never Gonna Be Alone part 2
“Oh, You've gotta live every single day, Like it's the only one, what if tomorrow never comes? Don't let it slip away, Could be our only one, you know it's only just begun Every single day, May be our only one, what if tomorrow never comes? Tomorrow never comes
Time, is going by, so much faster than I, And I'm starting to regret not telling all of this to you.
You're never gonna be alone! From this moment on, if you ever feel like letting go, I won't let you fall, When all hope is gone I know that you can carry on We're gonna take the world on I'll hold you 'till the hurt is gone ”

Part 1
From behind the pair, two sets of footfalls rushed toward them, one heavy, the other fleet, and The Iron Bull and Sera soon came around into view.
"Hey, Boss. Looks like you made it in time."
"Hi, Bull, he was here for me, he never needed our help. He tipped us off in order to save the South from the Qunari attacks and to get me here, to save me."
"Shite!" exclaimed Sera as she came around in front of the pair sitting on the ground. "What happened to your arm? Dorian, how can you hold it against you like that!?" Her face scrunched up aghast at the sight of it.
Dorian raised an eyebrow at the crude elf, "That's where you draw the line, is it? You'll hand someone a glass of piss to drink for shits and giggles, but you can't abide the touch of a friend's ghastly wound!?"
"I'll have to remember that one," Sera giggled with a grin on her face, "but no, that's not what I meant, and you know it. Ugh! Frustrating people are... frustrating!"
"It's alright, Sera," interjected Kartaelin, always the calming voice amongst his friends. "You don't have to touch it. Solas removed it to stop the anchor from killing me."
"Double shite," replied Sera. "So... you're okay now, yeah? It still doesn't look like it's good, is all. So, what's next?"
"We need to get him back to Orlais, and to a proper healer," answered Dorian.
"Can you walk, Boss?" Bull asked.
"I think so. The anchor is no longer wracking my body, there's just a throbbing and occasional pain when I move my arm. It's odd, there's a distinct sensation that it's all still there, but then I remember..." Kartaelin moved to get up, but the Tevinter would have none of it.
"You're in shock, I can't have you falling down the stairs and cracking your skull on the pavement on our way out of here. Can you imagine, walking into the Winter Palace, 'Where is the Inquisitor?', 'Oh, we allowed him to lead us back after having his arm amputated, and gee, well, he fell down the stairs and into the abyss. Can you believe it!' Leliana and Josephine will have all of our heads after the effort they've put into saving this organization. So, no, I'll carry you. Bull, can you gather his things?" Dorian sighed, “Sometimes I feel like I should be in the one in charge."
The Iron Bull nodded and gathered the Inquisitor's belongings.
"I like it when you take charge," said Kartaelin huskily, the familiar lopsided grin that had been absent these last few days finally returning to his face.
Knowing where this was headed, Bull ushered Sera toward the stairs amidst loud protests. As much as he'd also like to stick around and enjoy the show, he knew they needed to get back to the Exalted Council and the healers at the palace, and the only way to hurry the two love birds along was to leave them behind.
"Festis bei umo canavarum!" exclaimed the mage, wiping the remaining tears from his eyes. "Is this really the time or place for this? ...You're just lucky that I love you so much."
"I am," Kartaelin replied coyly, wrapping his hand in his lover’s leather collar and pulling him closer to him. He craned his neck until his lips met Dorian's and he peppered him with soft kisses. It was the least he could do after worrying him so terribly. They'd both feared his impending doom on account of the mark, and Dorian took it especially hard. He'd put up a wall around his heart a long time ago to prevent himself from being hurt by anyone, but the Inquisitor had broken right through, and the thought of him being taken from him so soon tore him up inside.
Slowing his ministrations to one final passionate kiss and savoring the moment, Kartaelin pressed his forehead to Dorian's. "I'm sorry I worried you so much, ma vhenan. I never wished to cause you hurt."
"I know, amatus. I just... I couldn't bear to lose you like this," Dorian replied, choking up again. "The thought of the one bright spot in my life being ripped away by ancient elven magic, just..."
The Inquisitor reached up to cup Dorian’s face with his hand, tenderly caressing his cheek with his thumb. "It's alright, Dorian, I'm safe now. Solas has bought us time, but we have more work to do. We should get back to the council. I'll fill you in on the way." He leaned in for one more kiss before the Tevinter could reply, taking his breath away.
Pulling back slowly, his lip caught playfully by the Inquisitor, Dorian gently gathered the elf into his arms. "You are right of course, but what's all this 'bought us time' business?" With a grunt he stood, the Inquisitor held tightly against his chest, "You are heavier than you look. Eating too many of those fancy tea cakes Solas likes so much?"
Kartaelin let out a hearty laugh, "I suppose there's no chance of you changing your mind about letting me walk out of here under my own power then?"
"Not a chance," Dorian smiled, heading back toward the stairs and the exit.
"Well, we could ask Bull to carry me if I'm too heavy for you," Kartaelin smirked.
"Truly? This is how you treat me after the moment we've just shared!? I should drop you right where we stand," Dorian replied in mock irritation.
"And what would the others say?" Kartaelin teased.
"They'd agree with me, you little shit!" countered the mage. "Then they'd come back to get you anyway.... Remind me again, why is it that I love you?"
"This IS why you love me," Kartaelin sassed.
Dorian sighed, "Well, you're not wrong. Tell me, were you always this antagonizing?"
"It's just for you. You bring out the best in me, Dorian," the elf responded. "Or the worst, depends on how you look at it. Either way, you wouldn't want it any other way."
"Maker, what did I do to deserve this!?" Dorian mused in exasperation.
Kartaelin just smiled. Pressing his injured arm against his own chest, the Inquisitor placed his hand over Dorian's heart and rested his head against his shoulder.
"Oh, the things I'm going to do to you tonight," the Tevinter mage muttered under his breath.
"I look forward to it," Kartaelin quipped, nuzzling the jaw of the man he adored.
"Of course, you do," Dorian breathed. He still worried about the ‘bought time’ remark, but he trusted the elf wouldn’t keep him in the dark for long. He had to accept that right here, right now he was holding his amatus in his arms and they were both alive and safe for the moment.

FenHawke &Varric friendship fluff: History
I was casually playing DA:I the other day and wandering around in the Hissing Wastes, and I got inspired to write some friendship fluff between Fenris, Rynne Hawke and their beloved BFF Varric. Set in my Fenris the Inquisitor universe.
~1700 words; read on AO3 instead.
************************
Fenris trudged over to the fire and sat next to Hawke with a groan. “I have finally succeeded in beating the sand out the creases in my clothes,” he announced. “For now, at least.”
Varric huffed. “At least you didn’t wear boots. I’m pretty sure I had enough sand in mine to build a castle.” He eyed his own bare feet in disgruntlement, and Fenris smirked; seeing Varric without boots on was a very rare occurrence.
“Told you to wear sandals,” Hawke said without looking up from the tattered book in her lap.
Varric gave her a long-suffering look. “When have you ever seen me in sandals?”
“There’s no better time to start,” Hawke said. “Bare chest, bare feet — it’s a natural pairing, like peas and carrots.”
Despite her jocular tone, she didn’t lift her eyes from her book. Fenris eyed her curiously. “What are you reading that has you so preoccupied?”
She finally looked up, and her amber eyes were wide and bright with interest. “It’s the journal we found on that poor dwarven fellow who got bitten by a spider. It’s pretty incredible, actually. I mean, sad because he died, poor sod,” she said quickly, “but incredible what he was figuring out.” She turned to Varric. “Did you know there was an entire dwarven house that purposely left the deep roads to set up here on the surface?”
He shot her a chiding look. “Have you ever seen me write anything much about the Orzammar dwarves?”
Her smile became sheepish. “Er, no.”
“Then that’s how much I know about a dwarven house leaving the deep roads to set up on the surface,” he said dryly.
“All right, fine, it was a stupid question,” she admitted. “But listen to this: this Paragon Fairel fellow took his house out of the deep roads before the First Blight to hide some incredible weapon he invented, so the rest of the dwarves would stop using it against each other. Before the First Blight! That’s how many years ago now?” She frowned. “Wait, when was the First Blight again?”
Amused, Fenris answered her question. “In -395 Ancient.”
She batted her eyelashes. “Maker’s balls, you’re so smart. No wonder I married you.”
Varric rolled his eyes. “All right, so some dwarves settled on the surface over a thousand years ago.”
“Yes, but that’s not all,” Hawke said. “It sounds like they were prepared to fight a dragon even before they left the deep roads. The fellow who wrote this journal found an inscription and translated it like this:
From the Stone, have no fear of anything,
But the stone-less sky betrays with wings of flame.
If the surface must be breached, if there is no other way,
Bring weapons against the urtok, and heed their screams.
She looked at Fenris and Varric with wide eyes. “Urtok means ‘dragon’, according to this. And ‘wings of flame’? That can only mean a dragon too, right? They knew before they breached the surface that there would be a dragon to contend with. How did they know that?”
“A good guess, maybe?” Varric said.
Hawke lifted an eyebrow. “But if they had never left the deep roads before, how could they even guess at what they’d find on the surface — and with enough accuracy to know they’d find a fire-breathing dragon?”
Fenris tapped her knee. “Perhaps they knew already of the archdemons, even if the First Blight had not yet happened.”
Her eyes grew even wider. “Shit. You’re right. Maker’s balls, I didn’t even — I never thought about the archdemons breathing fire underground. Do you think they breathe fire underground?”
“Probably,” Varric said.
She stared at him incredulously. “That’s insane.”
Fenris scoffed. “After everything we’ve seen, with the Titans and those ancient Sentinels at Mythal’s Temple and falling into the Fade, you think that a dragon breathing fire underground is insane?”
“I have to agree with the elf on this one,” Varric said.
Hawke burst out a laugh. “Listen to the two of you! Such grizzled and jaded men of the world! Maybe I’ve just retained my sense of childlike wonder.” Her smile widened. “Or maybe I’m just an idiot.”
Fenris tsked. “A very beautiful idiot,” he said, and he pinched her waist.
She squeaked in amusement and smacked his hand. “You certainly know how to flatter a girl. But really though, think about it: the entire history of this thaig, lost until now. And the Shaperate doesn’t know about it, or covered it up on purpose.”
Varric gave her a funny look. “Since when are you so preoccupied with dwarven history?”
“It’s not just dwarven history,” she said. “It’s… I don’t know.” She twisted her lips ruefully. “It’s rather fucked up how many people have lost such huge chunks of history, isn’t it? The dwarves, the elves… everyone who isn’t Chantry, really.”
“The Chantry is also unreliable with their history,” Fenris said. “They struck Shartan from the official Chant.”
She pulled a face. “Ugh, you’re right. That’s so fucked up, though. Everyone is so bloody casual with their histories. It’s so…” She trailed off with a frown, and Fenris eyed her with a pang of affection. Hawke was by no means the idiot she said herself to be, but it was unusual for her to get this pensive about history in particular. She tended to favour a happy-go-lucky focus on the present or the future, preferring to reserve her mental energy for discussions of magical theory instead of history.
She looked up at them with a little frown. “Even family histories or personal histories. There’s so much shit we can forget. I was named after a great-aunt or a grand-aunt or something, for example, but fuck knows who she even was anymore. Not that that’s any great loss of information, I don’t really care who I was named after. But at the same time, how can we say now what’s going to be important or not a hundred years from now?”
A rather melancholy silence ensued, which Fenris wasn’t sure how to break. He was starting to feel a bit melancholy and pensive himself. Hawke was right, after all; he, for instance, knew nothing more of his own family history than what Varania had told him at the Hanged Man several years ago. As he and Varania had never again contacted each other, it seemed that that was all Fenris would be fated to know.
“Oh balls,” Hawke said suddenly.
Fenris looked up to find her face crumpled in apology. She sidled closer to him and took his hand. “Oh, Fenris, I’m sorry. I’m being an ass, aren’t I, talking about this family history shit?”
“No, it’s…” He trailed off before he could say it was all right. His lost memories would never really be all right, but they were also no longer the gaping wound that they once were. “I’ve made my peace with my lack of history,” he said instead. “You know this.”
She winced. “I know, I just… ugh, I’m sorry.” She looped her hand through his elbow and hugged his arm. “I’m being so boring and mopey.”
Varric chuckled. “You really are. You and the elf here trading roles for a while?”
“I’m not sure that’s possible,” Fenris said dryly.
“It really isn’t,” Hawke chirped. “No one but Fenris can fill the role of ‘most gorgeous elf in Thedas’.”
Fenris eyed her chidingly. “It is impossible for you to fill that role. You’re not an elf.”
She widened her eyes playfully. “Nothing gets past you, does it?”
Fenris huffed in amusement, and Varric chuckled as well before speaking. “Well, I can cheer things up a little. At least we don’t have to worry about losing any of our history.”
“What do you mean?” Hawke asked.
“I mean that we have a perfectly accurate and compelling historian right here.” He raised his eyebrows expectantly.
Fenris chuckled, and Hawke barked out a bright little laugh. “You’re talking about yourself. Of course you are.”
Varric did a little bow from his seated position. “You can both thank me anytime.”
Fenris raised an eyebrow. “For what? Making Hawke a notorious Thedas-wide celebrity?”
“No!” Hawke retorted. “For painting me as a charming hero and not the complete fool that I am, of course!” She shifted over and hugged Varric around the neck.
He patted her back and smirked at Fenris. “Don’t worry, buddy, I’ll make you look good too in all of this Inquisition shit.”
Fenris sighed. “I appreciate the sentiment, I suppose.”
Hawke smiled sweetly at Varric. “When you write about the Inquisition, can you put in the story about how Fenris and Sera almost knocked Krem out with a stale cookie when they were on the roof that one time?”
“No,” Fenris said hastily. “Absolutely not. That was an accident!”
Varric ignored him. “It’s already written down, don’t worry,” he said to Hawke.
Fenris grunted. “Then you ought to include the time that Hawke asked Bull to teach her to throw a proper punch and nearly sprained her wrist on his unarmoured chest.”
She laughed and poked his thigh. “Hey, that’s unfair! Bull’s tits are so hard they might as well be armour. Dorian should have warned me!”
Varric snickered. “Don’t worry, I’ve got that one written down as well.”
Hawke clicked her tongue. “Well, in that case, you have to include that time that you tried to gamble against Solas and lost so badly that he took mercy on you by not taking your coat and your boots.”
Fenris snorted, and Varric pulled a face. “Aw, now that’s just mean to bring that up,” he complained.
Hawke giggled. They continued to tease each other with favourite stories of the past, both recent and remote, and Fenris smiled to himself as he listened to their laughter and their tales. In the grand scheme of things, the ties between a human mage, a Tevinter elf and a surface dwarf were too humble to survive the fickle nature of history and time. Not all histories were important enough to be written in the pages of a Chantry tome or carved in lyrium into the walls of Orzammar, after all.
But as Fenris listened to Hawke and Varric laughing and exchanging tales and playful jabs just as they used to do ten years ago, he realized that even the most humble of histories could be infinitely precious.

Heskan Aeducan as a Companion
(Face Claim: Can Yaman) - Okay, I really wanted to do this because Heskan is basically the hot romanceable dwarf we’d all deserve in Inquisition. He uses the Dwarf Noble Origin and has the Spirit Warrior specialization, using it as an archer.
Hope y’all like him! Feel free to romance him, haha!
Inquisitor’s Name: Heskan “Hess” Aeducan
Race, Class, & Specialization: Dwarf Archer Warrior (Spirit Warrior)
Varric’s Nickname for them: Feathers
Default Tarot Card: The Chariot
How they are recruited: He joins automatically if you talk to him at the gate leading to the bridge in Skyhold; a cutscene triggers where he and Leliana are speaking and she vouches for his skill and he offers aid to the Inquisition.
Where they are in Skyhold: Aiming his bow over the battlements, taking potshots at trees in the distance.
Things they Generally Approve of: Pragmatic options, manipulating nobles, recruiting prisoners
Things they Generally Disapprove of: Letting prisoners go, executing them, dismissing Sera from the Inquisition, hitting Solas or Dorian
Mages, Templars, Other?: Heskan comes from Orzammar, and is really tired of having to deal with this whole surface conflict, especially as darkspawn get closer and closer to overrunning his people. That said, he prefers the mages. Templars he doesn’t trust.
Romanceable?: Yes, by any gender or race.
Friends in the Inquisition: Cole, Vivienne, and Iron Bull - Heskan and Varric have a not-quite-friendly rivalry.
Small side mission: Run around Skyhold collecting a stray arrow each time you return to Skyhold. 9 arrows altogether, every 3 arrows earns you a Heskan Greatly Approves.
Companion quest: Heskan wants to know if he is accessing the Fade through his Spirit Warrior specialization and asks the Inquisitor and Cole to help him, sleeping in front of them so they can test it. Cole mentions that Heskan is actually afraid of finding out the truth. After he wakes up, the Inquisitor has two options. Neither option impacts the ability to romance him.
Option 1: Lie and say no. This will net Disapproval from Solas and Approval from Cole and Heskan. Heskan seems relieved to learn that he is not upending all the rules for dwarfs and talking to him later reveals he is a little concerned because he’s been getting fragments of dreams, but nothing else comes of this.
Option 2: Tell the truth. This will net Slight Disapproval from Cole and Great Approval from Heskan. Heskan admits that the idea of breaking all the rules for dwarfs and magic is frightening, but he is thrilled to consider this (if a Dwarven Inquisitor replies they feel the same way, they can earn extra approval). Talking to him later reveals that he has come to terms with accessing the Fade and he wants to attempt speaking with the spirit he has bonded with.
Tarot card change
Option 1: The Chariot (reversed)
Option 2: Knight of Pentacles
Cole’s reflection on their thoughts: “The smile should not have to be my mask, but it serves its purpose, bright and blinding as I bleed from the wounds in my back.”
Comment(s) on Mages: “Poor sods. I’d be pretty tired too if someone shut me up in a tower all my life and didn’t let me breathe wrong.”
Comment(s) on Templars: “We trade these people lyrium and we don’t care where it goes... but seeing what happens to them... I wonder if it’s worth it.”
When looking for something: “Did somebody hear that?”
When finding a campsite: “Care to kick up your feet for a while, Inquisitor?”
When the Inquisitor Falls: “Hurry, save the Inquisitor!”
When they are low on Health: “Hello? Archer needing help over here?”
When they see a Dragon: “You’re gonna go fight that thing, aren’t you?
Default saying: “Sort of brisk out here, isn’t it?”
Travel Banter with Canon Companions of your choice:
Heskan: So, Varric. Varric: (Sighs) Hello, Feathers. Heskan: You don’t like me much, do you? Varric: One handsome dwarf archer is enough for a good story. You’re a bit superfluous. Heskan: Don’t spare my feelings or anything...
Vivienne: Tell me, Prince Aeducan. What are you doing on the surface? Heskan: Madame Vivienne, please. You may call me Prince Heskan. Varric (if present): (Disgusted noise.) Vivienne: That wasn’t an answer, Prince Heskan. Heskan: No... no it wasn’t.
Heskan: Varric? Varric: (Sighs) What is it, Feathers? Heskan: Oh, I apologize. You must be trying to find a way to describe me other than “exceptionally ugly.” Varric: So you read The Tale of the Champion, huh? Heskan: If anything, I’d say that only one of us uses chest hair to distract from our sorry faces. Varric: “Hideously ugly and arrogant” it is, then. Heskan: Lazy writing!
Cole (after Heskan’s personal quest is complete and he is told the truth): She says hello. Heskan: She? She who? Cole: I don’t know... she’s you. (if made more human) I used to see her better. Heskan: Oh. Could you... could you tell her thank you? Cole: She knows. Heskan: Thank you, Cole.
Friendship?: “Hello there, love. Miss me?”
Leaving the Inquisition: “I’m not fond of the way you’re running things here. If you don’t shape up, I’d rather be sucked up into the Fade than hang around here.”
The Fade
How they react: “Well... this is different. Not sure I should really be here, actually.” Their Tombstone: Betrayal What the Fears look like: His dead brother Trian What the Nightmare says: “Ah, the murderer-Prince of Orzammar. Have they forgiven you for killing your brother yet? Or do you think they’re waiting for the right time to strike?” Their reflection about the Fade: "Yeah, I’m not so sure I enjoyed that.” Hawke or Warden: Has worked with both, Disapproves if Hawke or Alistair is left behind. Greatly Approves if Loghain is left behind. Approves if Stroud is left behind.
The Wardens
Their feelings: Respects the Wardens, being a veteran of the Fifth Blight and working with the Hero. Exile or Allies?: Allies
The Ball
How they feel: “Smile, love. We’ve got a role to play here, so stay guarded.” Where they linger: Outside the door to Gaspard’s balcony Are they good at the Game?: Very much so. What people say about them: “Oh, that dwarven Prince is such a good dancer!” “Tall for a dwarf, isn’t he?” Gaspard, Briala, or Celene?: Prefers Briala through Gaspard
Temple of Mythal
Rituals or Hole?: Hole Agree with the Elves’ bargain?: Agree. Morrigan or Inquisitor for the Well?: Morrigan
Comments on Canon Romance
Cassandra: “Personally, the Seeker frightens me. But if you’ve chosen each other, I can tell she’ll be true.” Dorian: “Treat him well, Inquisitor. He’s been through enough in his life, I can tell.” Sera: “Hah, fun for all, eh? She’s a firecracker, she is.” Iron Bull: “Heh, he’s a fun one. If you two weren’t together...” Josephine: “Ah, Lady Montilyet. A fine woman indeed. You’re lucky, Inquisitor. They don’t come much sharper than her.” Cullen: “Ah, I’ve met Cullen a few times before. He’s... he’s a better man than I once knew, I’ll say that.” Blackwall: “I’m definitely not qualified to judge. But he’ll treat you right, Inquisitor.” Solas: “Well, to each their own.”
Sexual/Racial preference: Panromantic. Any race.
Nickname for PC: My sweet
Romance only mission: Heskan asks the Inquisitor to accompany him to Valammar, where he has heard rumors of trouble brewing. The party is ambushed by Endrin loyalists who want Heskan dead for the alleged killing of his brother ten years ago. Afterwards, Heskan explains the details of his murky past, including why he killed his brother, and how he has always had to look over his shoulder. Choosing the dialogue response “Maybe I could look for you” locks in the romance, and Heskan expresses awe and joy that their casual flirting actually meant something.
Dialog to being asked for a kiss: “How could I refuse you, my sweet?”
Halamshiral dialog: “Just keep up that pretty smile of yours, my sweet. I promise I’ll put a real one on your face once the party’s over.”
Being asked to dance during mission: “As much as you want. Once this business with the Empress is over, of course.”
Asking to dance post-mission: “Come here... you’ve done so well tonight. If I can help you relax... I am honored.”
What Cole says about companion to PC: “The smile... it used to be false. Fake, fleeting, like feathers in the wind. But now... he is safe, secure...his sweet is here.”
Who is concerned about the relationship?: Varric, Cullen
Who supports the relationship?: Josephine, Leliana, Vivienne, Dorian
Who had a bet running on it?: Blackwall, Iron Bull, Sera
Banter(between NPCs):
Varric: So... you and the Inquisitor? Heskan: Ha, I never figured you for the jealous type, Varric. Varric: I - that’s... ugh.
Vivienne: A well-made match, my dear Prince. I congratulate you. Heskan: For once, Madame, I was not considering politics. Vivienne: Nonsense. Matters of the heart are just as political as anything else. Heskan: (chuckles) I suppose that on that count, we agree.
Iron Bull: So, are you a one-lover dwarf, or can I expect you again? Heskan: Why, Bull, you know I’ll never forget that magical night... Sera (if present): Ewww! How would that... oh. Fingers. Heskan: BUt in any event, you’d have to ask my sweet one. (The Inquisitor can respond favorably or unfavorably) Favorably Inquisitor: You could... if you don’t mind my presence. Iron Bull: The more the merrier! Heskan: My sweet, the Bull makes an excellent footrest. I’ll have to show you... Unfavorably Inquisitor: Sorry, Bull. He’s mine. Heskan: And I need no other lover.
Flirt options: Upon meeting (gains Slight Disapproval from Varric), and at almost every interaction. Flirting with him enough unlocks his romance quest without needing to gain higher approval
Break up dialog:
If PC breaks it off: “I understand. It was fun while it lasted, though, eh? I’ll see you around, my - er, Inquisitor.”
If NPC breaks it off(and why): “I... I can’t condone what you’re doing, my sweet. I wish it could be different. I wish I could help you... but I cannot.” (Low Approval breaks off the romance)
Love confession: Heskan takes the Inquisitor walking along the battlements. “I... I never really thought I would find anyone who truly cared... but with you... I feel safe. I feel like... I could be happy.” The Inquisitor can flirt with him, which leads to a sex scene and lazy kissing in the Inquisitor’s bedroom, or say they love him, which leads to him pulling them to him with his bow string and kissing them deeply. “Then I am yours as long as you will have me, my sweet.” In either event, the Inquisitor can ask for a kiss or ask to “take a long walk,” which will result in a brief implied sex cutscene with a shirtless Heskan leaning over to kiss the Inquisitor in their bed.
Romanced tarot card: King of Pentacles
End game dialog: “You’ve done it. Beaten the villain, slain the dragon. I wish I could tell you it gets easier from here... but no matter what, I will be at your side, my sweet. Always.”

Here is the Dragon Age Beyond the Veil Questionnaire! I believe that's what it's called? Not sure, but here it is! I hope y'all enjoy finding out more about my inquisitors😌. There's some proofreading but if something is off then my bad!
.
Do they have an interest, skill, or hobby that they excel at, but are embarrassed about admitting to or displaying?
Bloom’s embarrassing skill is that she’s good at gardening. She seems rude, serious, and such an anxious person, yet she loves gardening. She loves planting flowers specifically, but is okay at taking care of fruit or other kinds of food. When Varric finds her planting flowers, humming to herself quietly, he interrupts her with a, “Well, well, well,” and she gets embarrassed. He doesn’t tell anyone though, he’s not a snitch on his friends ;). She finds it a little embarrassing because she’s the inquisitor, someone who should be focusing on everything serious, but she finds time for gardening😌.
Elle’s embarrassing skill and hobby is that she likes to sing. She loves singing when she’s alone and if she’s in her room by herself, she will sing pretty loud. Many people know about it but don’t tell her too her face because they don’t want to embarrass her, but Josephine does eventually. She goes to her room and is about to knock, but hears a beautiful voice singing such a wonderful song. Her voice hits all the notes right and changes the tune a little bit. She loves it and knocks on the door (even if she wants to leave her alone) and she hears the voice stop and crack in surprise. Elle opens the door and a huge blush is on her face and Josephine has a smirk on her face. She doesn’t tell anyone (Even if others already know lol) and teases her from time to time.
Julian’s embarrassing hobby is that he likes to sing as well. He likes it because it brings him comfort, reminds him of each place he visited, and reminds him of good times. And he learns some songs that are sung in Skyhold and he loves it! No one hears him usually and Cassandra is the one to find out and she loves him even more. He sings her the poems sometimes and ugh Julian why are you so romantic???
Does your character believe in luck, fate, both, or neither?
Bloom believes in both a little bit. She likes to hope that maybe something is on her side and making her lucky in certain situations. But she also believes some things couldn’t be avoided and know that it was just fate.
Elle believes in fate but not luck. She believes that everything happens for a reason. Sometimes she sees herself as lucky, but most of the time she sees it all as fate.
Julian believes in fate. He just likes to believe that things happen for a reason and that it will all turn out okay. Fate may be cruel sometimes but it will always throw you a bone every now and then. He tells himself it and he finds comfort in it.
Does your character have any ‘guilty pleasures’?
Bloom loves to relax. She’s usually a kind of work-a-holic and loves to be by herself (or with Solas or friends) and relax. She just needs time to relax and read and comfort herself. It’s her guilty pleasure since she just likes to ignore the world sometimes.
Elle and Julian don’t really have any, unless I think of some.
Does your character or their Love Interest have trouble sleeping alone?
Bloom has trouble sometimes. She’s used to being in a circle and a clan, so sleeping alone is difficult. She deals with it and it gets a little bit easier, but when she finally gets to share a bed with Solas?? It brings her SO much comfort and she loves him so much. He brings her comfort and is there to protect her from everything that the world throws at them...and she believes everything will be okay in his arms. Solas doesn’t have too much trouble sleeping alone since he’s used to it, but once he sleeps with Bloom?? He hates it. He wants her beside him and sometimes needs her there, so he has trouble sometimes.
Elle hates sleeping alone, but she’s used to it. Once again, she was used to being in a circle and a town, so sleeping alone is difficult most days, but she knows how to get over it. She ran from the circle and her town out of shame, and she was on the run for awhile, so she knew how to sleep by herself. She hated it, but she got used to it. It’s why sleeping with Cullen is a little difficult at first because she’s not used to this. She so badly wants this, but she’s a little worried of taking it. Cullen has a little bit of trouble sleeping alone when Elle’s not with him. He just...likes her presence and he loves to know that she’s okay.
Julian is fine with sleeping alone. He never got close to anyone, so sleeping alone was okay, BUT when he finally got close to others and Cassandra, he realized how he didn’t like sleeping alone. He felt warmth around others, safe, and calm and loved, so not feeling that at night? It brings him some trouble, so when he finally shares a bed with Cassandra? He loves it and hugs her so tight. After the first night of sleeping together in the same bed, he apologizes to her in the morning and she’s like, “Yo?? It’s okay?? I love you and love the attention as well?!?!” Cassandra is okay with sleeping alone and deals with it, but when she sleeps with Julian, she doesn’t want to sleep alone anymore. She’s fine with it if she has to have it happen, but sleeping with him is a lot better.
Does your character wear makeup? What kind, how much and how often or under what circumstances?
Bloom and Elle don’t usually wear makeup. They wore it to the Winter Palace, but that was because they both had to look beautiful and elegant. They both like makeup but rarely ever where it.
HOWEVER, Julian is different. He doesn’t like makeup at all. It’s not that he doesn’t find it pretty or anything, it’s just that’s a little difficult and he finds it sticky and a little uncomfortable-
Does your characters name have a meaning? What this meaning intentional on the part of their parents, or did their parents just like the sound of the name?
Bloom’s name has always been a joke to her, but her parents found it serious. She was born in the spring and they were like, “Oh...the flowers bloom in the spring,” and they found her name like that. She makes a joke about that idea sometimes. Like one of her friends in the circle was really scared for her one day and she whispers to them, “What happens to flowers in the spring?” And they shout, “BLOOM!”.
Elle and Julians really don’t have any significance. Their parents just liked their name!
Has your character ever been engaged? Have they ever been proposed to? Have they been part of an arranged marriage? If no, then how would they react to finding themselves in these situations?
Bloom has absolutely not. She sees marriage as a very important thing for her because she really wants to love that person. She wants to give her heart and soul to that person. Her parents understood that, so thankfully they didn’t make her marry anyone when she was in the clan. She does see herself getting married though!! It’s something she’s really wanted since she was a little girl, so she can’t wait to love someone!
Elle has never been proposed to or engaged at all. She has the same belief and idea as Bloom.
Julian hasn’t been engaged or proposed to, and he found it difficult for him to imagine him married to anyone. He liked to move around a lot in places (not partners) and he didn’t see anyone being okay with that. Plus, he was sometimes too playful and didn’t know how to hold back his tongue, and some people didn’t like that, so he couldn’t imagine himself getting proposed too or proposing to anyone. But Cassandra changed that-
Has your character ever written a dirty letter, and actually sent it?
Bloom has before actually. She was a teen-almost-adult and she was just...curious and trying many things so she was like, “Hmm...might as well,” and she did. It was kind of a joke and not meant to be serious, and she never ever told the person that it was from her. She looks back upon that memory and wishes she told the person to see what would’ve happened lol.
Elle never has. She was always too awkward and afraid in her town of upsetting people (other than the people she was teasing), so she never did. Especially after her father past. She became a little withdrawn and didn’t want to do anything that would get her caught or somehow in trouble. She’s just very anxious guys.
Surprisingly, Julian never has. He sees sending this kind of letter as an intimate thing and would save it for his partner, so he never has sent one. He wanted to for Cassandra, but realized he probably shouldn’t. He was a little worried that others would read it, so he decided not to send it. Even if he really wanted to because he misses her and has to let her know that in NSFW and SFW issues >:(.
How does your character feel about the dark/night/nighttime/shadows etc?
OH, Bloom is terrified of it. She doesn’t know why, it’s just terrifying. She hates the shadows, thinks something is coming to get her, and she just gets uncomfortable. She doesn’t really have traumatic memories with that or anything, she just hates it and would prefer to be in the light. Especially after Corypheus and everything.
Elle doesn’t mind it. She gets a little frightened, but she doesn’t mind it necessarily. She would really prefer the light, and she uses her magic secretly when she can if its too dark, so she usually isn’t in the dark. But she’s also been in the dark a lot, so she’s okay with shadows.
Julian is completely fine with them, until Corypheus shows up. He’s used to moving around and traveling, so he’s used to the nighttime and everything, but when he saw everything happen with Corypheus at Haven, he got scared and hated the dark. It brings him anxiety, surprising right, and he just wants to be in the light :).
How expressive is your characters face? Can they be easily read, or do they have the capacity to be a really good liar, or at least dangerous at card games?
Bloom’s face isn’t too expressive, but sometimes it is. If something really shocks her, then her poker face falls. Like when Corypheus first came to Haven, everyone saw the pure panic on her face. She became truly scared, worried for others, running around so fast that others could almost not keep up with her, and her fire was used a little bit more than normal. She was just anxious and her face was completely filled with terror. But other than those kind of times, her poker face is strong and she seems rough and tough, even if she is soft deep down🥺.
Elle’s face is really expressive. If she receives a compliment, she blushes and shows her happiness, if a good event happens to her, her happiness is shown, if something bad happens to her, her sadness is shown, and everything is shown. She finds it a weakness and tries to stop it, but she’s really emotional and can’t help but show her emotions. It’s what makes her inner circle know her emotions a lot easier and know how to help her if she needs it. Varric especially lol. Plus, it helped Corypheus and other enemies know her feelings and she hated that and why she sees it as a weakness. Eventually she gets better at it and manages to hide her emotions when battling.
Julian’s face isn’t very expressive. He’s used to hiding his emotions and putting on a mask, so hiding his true emotions isn’t too hard. He looks happy all the time, but most people know it’s fake because no one looks happy all the time. It’s just the only face they see on him, so yes he’s good at hiding his emotions. And he’s bomb at playing cards. Even Varric is stumped sometimes lol.
If someone were to cast a spell to summon your character, which 5 objects would they need to include in the spell?
If she somehow lost her little marble her brother gave her, they would use that, a blue crystal since she loves blue and anything pretty, roses since they’re her favorite flower, her gloves she kept from the circle, and this sounds weird, but she would need Solas’s paintbrush or something he uses to be creative. Knowing that he gave that item would make her happy and with her brother connection, it would make calling her a whole lot easier. However, if she didn’t lose her brothers marble (which would be extremely difficult), then they would use one of her staffs that she’s used in the past OR something that reminds her of Skyhold. She needs emotional connected things to call her to the place, and things that remind her of her magic/Skyhold would make things emotional and easier for her to find the way.
They would need Elle’s fathers templar ring (only if she somehow lost it), her necklace from the circle that her friends made for her (again if she somehow lost it), sunflowers because she loves those a lot, something Cullen gave her (maybe his fur coat) because it’s Cullen’s and she loves him so it will call to her, and something used to make a staff or a complete staff to call out to her magic. These would work because it has emotional things connected to her and she’s an emotional person, so she would rely on her emotions more often than not, so it would be easy to call out to her this way. However, if they didn’t have her necklace or ring, they would have to use Cullen’s lucky coin (or whatever it is. I think it’s a coin or a rock?) since she leaves it in her bedroom most times so she doesn’t lose it, and the necklace her friend has. Her friend group (including her) all has a necklace with their names, so feeling the feel of her friends necklace with magic will help call out to her. I only replaced the necklace and father’s templar ring in a back up because it would be extremely difficult for her to lose them lol.
Julian would need one of his staffs, the poem book he read to Cassandra for the first time, a sword (preferably one of Cassandras), an Orlesian mask, and a small piece of the wall rock from Skyhold. He would need one of his staffs because that magic of that will call out to him, the poem book because it has an emotional connection of his love for Cassandra so it will call out to his love and lead him, a sword because he likes to use the spell of the staff turning into a sword for a moment so he likes swords. Making it more stronger would be making it Cassandra’s because it would add a more emotional connection. Then, an Orlesian mask because it reminds him of his ‘mask’ he puts on for many people and the way he hides his true emotions sometimes, and a pretty rock because it reminds him of his travels. He remembers how he was always on the move, never stayed anywhere, and a small piece of the rock of the wall from Skyhold (like the bridge that’s damaged ya know??) reminds him of his new home :).
If your character could ask for anything for their birthday, what gift would they like to receive?
Bloom just wants a nice day off. She’d like to go somewhere with Solas, alone, and have fun with him. She’d love to practice some fun magic spells (not ones for fighting) and spend some cute time with him! If it had to be a physical gift, she’d ask for new pieces of clothing. She’s not picky about clothing, but if it can keep her a bit cold or cool, then she’ll take it.
Elle would love a day to spend with her friends. She loves Cullen and would love a day off with him, but she’d prefer to spend a day with her whole friend group. If it had to be a physical gift, it would have to be a new charm for her weapon or a new weapon in general. Give her something and she’ll wear it with pride😌.
Julian just wants a few books and a nice day off. He wants Cassandra and his friends to be with him and just wants to have a nice, relaxing day😌.
If your character could instantly be a master at any skill or ability, what would they choose and why?
Bloom would master the ability of knowledge. She wants to know almost everything so she can understand Solas in a better way. But since that's almost impossible, she would love to master the skill of taking care of plants. She would love to know everything so she could do every plant, learn how to take care of them properly, and be able to give them to her friends and Solas :). She's romantic and likes giving flowers to her lover and her friends. She would love to know their meanings to just in case she wants to give people multiple!
Elle would love to master her magic. Like, she would just love to be able to learn how to do it secretly, how to make it not hurt when she hides it, ways to protect herself slightly better, ways to protect others better, and ways to just do magic better. She'd like to do it in secret and just love to know everything because she loves her magic even if it's related to bad memories.
Julian would like to know how to do many traps. He would love to understand all of them, how to make them, why they work, who they are used to capture, and learn about them! He learned many traps and schemes when traveling, so understanding all of them would be amazing! PLUS, he would be able to stop the trip-wires or other stealthy traps enemies make.
If your character wakes up from a nightmare, what do they do to calm down?
Bloom talks to Solas or goes to the fade to see her brother. When she started dating Solas, she learned that she had someone else to be there for her, and it made her feel so much better. However, she would be very vague because it would most likely be related to her background (which she hides), but Solas would most likely understand and respect her boundaries and tell her stories :). Or he would hug her, give her physical attention (NSFW and SFW), and just be there for her.
Elle would take a walk into the forest. She knew she could get caught, but she would let her magic out. She would sit on the ground, lay back against a tree bark, and let her magic go free. Her hands would lay on the grass and the flowers around her would grow or even glow, some fireflies would glow even brighter, and it would just feel calm. Being able to let it all out is comforting to her and it makes her feel okay. It reminds her of bad things sometimes, but most of the time it calms her down and she learns how to help herself. Plus, she's scared of being a bother, so she usually handles it by herself, but sometimes she does go to Cullen or Cassandra. They help her calm down.
Julian deals with it by himself. He wants the touch and calm that Cassandra could provide, but like Elle, he is scared of being a burden. He is scared of her leaving him because he is attention-seeking (he just wants love attention almost all the time) and not very independent (even tho he kinda is), and it bugs him. That's practically what his nightmares are about. He's afraid of being alone again, so he deals with it by himself. He goes and reads a nice story, even if it's late at night. Usually Cassandra would find him (she worries so would immediately look for him if he wasn't in bed) and he would just play it off :').
If your character were to get arrested, what would they most likely be arrested for?
Bloom would get arrested for hurting people probably. She has a temper and it usually isn't broken, BUT if someone is insulting her too much or pushing her too far, she will become a bit violent. She hates it but that's how she is.
It would be hard for Elle to get arrested since she is calm and really tries to not piss people off, but she would probably get arrested for stealing. She doesn't like stealing at all, but if she saw something she really liked but couldn't get (like anything magic related), she would try to steal it. She would most likely get caught because she is good at acting, but her magic isn't used as much as it should (so it isn't noticed), so it helping her steal something would be almost impossible and she's always caught :).
Julian would be arrested for resisting arrest. That doesn't make sense but he probably would be arrested for trespassing and resisting arrest. He might go to a place that is off limits (somewhere away from Skyhold) because he's snuck in there before, but now someone caught him. He would run despite them telling him not to, and try to fight (not violently) to get out of being arrested, but he would eventually give in to just get everything over with.
If your character’s Love Interest vanished without warning or explanation, how long would your character wait for them/remain loyal? Would they want to eventually move on? Would they be able to? When and under what circumstances?
All of my inquisitors wouldn't move on. All of them had been through many things and would never settle down with someone unless they love them a ton. Losing that person would be tough on their soul, probably put them in a pit of depression for a long time, and they would never give up. They would stay loyal and wait for them as long as it takes. Take Bloom in Trespasser for an example. She looked for Solas and never stopped thinking he was alive, and when she considered the thought that he was dead, she still didn't stop and didn't even think about finding another love.
Elle and Julian have been through many things as well, so they wouldn't be able to move on. They would be emotional (along with Bloom) and try to find them to get an explanation or save them or just figure everything out. But if the LI (love interest) said that they didn't love them anymore, my inquisitors wouldn't believe them and try to find out what's wrong, but when it is clear in their face, then they might move on. They would wait years and try to come back from that depression and emotions and become completely stable enough to love someone, but it's most likely that they wouldn't.
They just love their partner so much and it would be very difficult to move on.
Is your character allergic to anything?
Julian has some pollen allergies, but that's it. Bloom and Elle don't have any because they're just lucky.
Is your character any good at climbing tree’s? Do they enjoy it?
They all are good at it. Bloom would climb trees when she was with her clan because she was practicing to be a hunter, so she learned to keep watch from high up. She likes it but also doesn't. She likes seeing the beautiful view, but she hates the idea of bugs getting on her and heights, so she doesn't do it that often. She only does it if someone manages to be up there with her.
Elle is good at it and enjoys it. She also enjoys the view and she is used to climbing trees so she could just have fun. She would compete with her friends from the town and circle she was in and would see who could climb the tree the fasted with no magic. She became the fastest when she became older and still enjoys the activity.
Julian is good at it because he is used to climbing it to see if there's anywhere he can rest or stay at and used to running away from people or animals he can't fight. He enjoys it a bit because of the view (they all love the view) and because he just likes climbing trees. It's a workout and he likes to keep himself reminded of how to do it just in case he needs to climb to live.
Is your character prone to daydreaming? What kinds of thoughts do they get easily lost in?
YES. THEY ALL ARE. Bloom especially. She is used to day dreaming about Solas (once they start dating I mean), what she is going to do later, her plants she loves, and her friends (past and present ones). She can't help it sometimes, but she has managed to stop it when she joined the inquisition.
Elle is prone to daydreaming but she stops it easier than Bloom does. She daydreams about stories she makes up in her head and memories. She takes facts from other stories (or things from her past) and makes up stories in her head. She writes them when she gets back in her room for fun. So, she gets lost in making stories and making characters in her head.
Julian almost never daydreams. Sure, he focuses on something else for awhile, but he usually stops it immediately and gets serious. He wants people to see him as serious so he tries to be completely serious.
Post a Gif that you feel sums up your character, and then tell me why.
Bloom is a very strong woman, but she is also sad. She is kind, caring, wholesome, but can be strong, sad, and angry. She has gone through hatred, love, judgement, being tranquil, so I think this gif sums her up. She's trying to figure her life out everyday and wanting to know what she can do. (this gif below. This isn't the one for Elle lol.)
Elle has also been through terrible things and hatred, but she's mainly been through love and acceptance. So, when she is faced with hatred, she is scared. That fear follows her everyday and her anxiety is overwhelming sometimes. She wants to get through everything, but sometimes its hard and she doesn't know what to do and how to act. But she slowly learns that everyone else is suffering too, and she just needs to find what to do, how to do it, find the hope to live, and do everything she's always wanted to. (gif below)
t(gif above is for Julian). OOOHH BOYYY!! THIS IS PERFECT FOR JULIAN!! And for everyone too lol. He always shown no interesting in staying in one place, finding one person, and acted like he was fine on his own. But he wasn't. He pushed his feelings away for so long, but eventually accepted that he wanted affection and love and got it with DAI. He showed no interested in others for so long, but eventually got it and learned that it's okay.
Tell me about a place that holds special meaning for your character. Why is this place special?
Bloom's special place would have to be at her old circle place. This is where she spent most of her life and she's loved it. It had many bad times, several bad days, and it was the place where she became tranquil, but she loves that place. She found a family there and grew up there, so it would always be special even if it has bad memories too.
Elle's special place would have to be the place she met her best friend, Caleb. Mainly because it made her have a new friend in her family, but also because that's where she learned that she was a mage. It was a place where she found out an important part of her identity (well not identity but ya know) and she loves that place.
Julian doesn't really have a special place. He's been through many places and he remembers most of them, but one of them would have to be in a forest he once stayed in. It didn't really have a name or any features that show where it was, but it was so beautiful to him. Mainly because when he walked a little through the trees behind his camp, he would see a beautiful lake and a view that people kill for. It was beautiful to him and it made him realize that things can be pretty and lovely in life. He'd take Cassandra there one day :).
Tell me about your character’s first kiss. Who was it with, and what do they remember about it?
Bloom's first kiss was with a random boy at the circle. Ya remember 7 minutes of heaven? Or that game where a group would lock two people in a closet or something and they'd have 7 minutes to do whatever they wanted?? Or did I imagine that thing?? Idk. But that's what happened with her and some kid. She was around 15 when it happened and they only kissed once. She remembers it because she was terrified and she said she'd always remember her first kiss, so she always tried to never forget about it. Her and the boy never talked about it ever again lol.
Elle's first kiss was with Caleb. They didn't love each other like that, but neither of them had their first kiss at 16 and they were scared of being stupid when they kissed someone they wanted to kiss, so they just...kissed once. They kissed once to see what it was like and they both didn't want to kiss each other, but they were glad they did because they at least knew what to do?? If that makes sense.
Julian's first kiss was with a random person at 19. He was at a tavern, was pretty drunk, and kissed a man in front of a whole crowd. He remembers it slightly but was too drunk to remember everything.
Tell me something that is guaranteed to make your character upset?
OOOH BOYYYY. Talk about being tranquil. Many things can make Bloom sad, but this one will definitely make her sad. Any mention of even thinking about making someone tranquil makes her upset. She was tranquil at one point and it really did hurt her. It didn't hurt her at the time bc she didn't have emotions, but when she got them back and got her magic back, she hated the whole thing. She would never wish that on anyone, unless they were truly evil and a disgrace. It would make her upset kind of but also just make her feel a little numb.
To make Elle upset I believe you would have to talk about hurting her family and friends. Mentioning hurting anyone she cares about, hurts her. She loves people so much and gives herself to her whole family, so to see them get hurt or threatened makes her angry and sad. And also bringing up her past makes her upset.
Julian is kinda rare to be upset exactly, so to make him upset you'd have to try really hard. You'd have to threaten to take his home away or make him think his home will get taken away. He'd never found a home before or even felt wanted, so when he's in DAI and is wanted and loved, it makes him feel so happy. And if that was taken away, then he would be crushed and would be so pissed and fight the person who did it. Like take his home away?? Then his taken your life lol.
What do you, as their creator, love most about your character?
Hmmm...I love Bloom's love for her brother. Her brother, Joseph, died when they were both young, and he got attached to her in the Fade. It's like Jodie and Aiden in Beyond Two Souls. I love the way she trusts him so much, but also thinks for herself. She is strong and so is her brother. They care for each other, even if they're not both there. Joseph isn't there physically, but he is still there for her and I love that she still loves him and protects him.
I love the way that Elle learns. She was brought up in a happy town and full of happiness, even when she was talked down to. She was just happy. Sure she had her down times, but she always came back up, so when her life genuinely got ruined and she ran away, it hurt her. I love how she learned from that, learned that not everything goes her way, that not everyone is kind, and that things can go bad. People can betray you. It's just common sense and I love that she learned that and is continuing to learn how to live.
I love Julian's love for travel. He likes to travel a lot even when he does find a home. He likes to look at the forest, rivers, flowers, and collect things. It makes him happy and I love how cute he acts when he finds something new or a new place. Well, how he acts in my head lol.
What does your character do when they are hurt and upset? How do they react to words, or a situation, that makes them hurt and upset? Why?
Bloom goes to someone. She is worried and feels kind of like the world is crumbling depending on the issue. She goes to Solas or Cassandra and looks for some nice words. She needs reassurance that everything is going to be okay and needs to know that she is loved and that she can do this. However, if she feels like the hurt is stupid (like she usually does), then she goes to her room by herself for a few hours before someone finds her (almost always Solas). Or she just continues her day and acts like everything is okay, even if it is not.
Elle usually goes to a garden or does something by herself. She has bad anxiety and has worries, but she does try to work them out sometimes. She thinks while she looks at the garden, or reads to get her mind off of things, and just...tries to exist for a minute without responsibilities. But after awhile, she goes to Cullen or her friends because she needs comfort and craves it.
Julian goes to Cassandra. He's used to being alone, so he wants comfort and really needs it. He just wants a hug, cuddles in bed, or only wants to talk with her. Or he might even train with her! He may not be trained in fighting, but he's still decent at it and likes to train with her. She likes to teach him different techniques and loves his effort :).
What gives your character the motivation to get up and out of bed in the morning?
Their lovers and their wants. That goes for all of them. Sometimes they feel like they can't do something or truly feel weak, they have their loved ones right next to them reminding them that they can do this. That they are strong and can get through anything and that they are not alone. Plus, their lovers remind them of what they want to get done today and how important it is or how good they'll feel when it is done. It always works and they all get out of bed usually with a smile.
What is something your character has always wanted to do, but never had the opportunity to do?
This is NSFW, but I'll put it anyways. Bloom always wanted to get spicy in the rotunda room. She wanted to but always felt anxious and didn't like that there were people there and she was worried Solas wouldn't like it. She just pushed that away and then he left and she never got the opportunity to do it. BUT other than NSFW, she wishes she could've taken up the opportunity of learning how to do the magic sword. Like the specialization of a warrior but with magic?? Does that make sense?? She chose the fade because she was interested, but also wishes she could've chosen the other one. But she can't :(.
Elle wanted to do many things with her dad. Like show him her magic, show him the inquisition, show him how much she has grown, and let him meet Cullen and her friends, but he cannot because he died when she was young. It makes her sad when she realizes how much he will miss out on and she gets sad.
Julian wants to go back and see his family and see how they're doing, but he never could. They were moving and he could never really have the opportunity to find them. But I do imagine that one day in the far future he would be able to find them :). Ik that goes against the question but yeah.
What is the most significant thing that your character has had to sacrifice?
Bloom had to sacrifice her magic. Like she had to give her magic away to save her friends. When she was being made tranquil, before she was she had a choice to run away and escape, but if she did then her friends would most likely die or get in huge trouble and their lives would be ruined. She didn't want that to happen, so she sacrificed a big part of herself, and kind of sacrificed her connection with her brother. She got it back, but she still had the time of believing she was never going to see her brother again and never going to feel anything ever again. Scary thought.
Elle had to sacrifice her old self. Ik it's kind of dumb, but when she ran from her past, she had to hide herself. She used a glamor to look human and completely forget her elf self. She sacrificed her magic and old look to make a new Elle and try to make the world better.
Julian had to sacrifice his relationship with his parents. He wanted to be with them, but to be happy, he knew he had to leave. He had to go and escape from his family, so he gave them up. It was hard for him at first, but he got over it. Well, not really but he got over it enough to live. But he had to give that away to find happiness or at least to feel free. He doesn't know if he'd do his actions differently, but it is one thing he wish he didn't have to give up.
Who was the first person your character ever fell in love with? Was it reciprocated? How did it end?
Bloom never really fell in love with someone. Mainly because she just focused on her friends and that's it. She wanted love and tried to look for it at points, but she never found it and is glad she didn't. She loves Solas now and would never want anyone else. And as we all know, the love was reciprocated for her and Solas.
Elle didn't really have a crush exactly. She was attracted to a boy who didn't like her. She didn't know if she liked him or was just attracted to him, so she pushed it off and focused on everything else. Eventually, he did fall for her and like her (not exactly love), but then it was too late.
Julian has liked a few people. Some of them were reciprocated and some not. But he never stayed with anyone and made them official. He just...didn't feel comfortable and couldn't like them in the way he wanted to.
Your character is out with friends for drinks and a few rounds of cards. Everyone is swapping funny stories from their lives. Which story does your character choose to tell?
Bloom tells the story of when she wrote a dirty letter to a random boy. It was very awkward for her when she was young, but she managed to make jokes about it in the future. Varric, Iron Bull, Blackwall, and Sara found it the most hilarious. Josephine found it amusing and was quite surprised and so was Solas. Everyone liked the story even if it was short and she was embarrassed to tell it. And Solas began to wonder if she would ever write him one.
Elle would tell the tale of when she first got her magic and accidentally broke many glasses in her house. She was trying to lift multiple objects to come towards her, but she messed up and somehow made the glasses in front of her all fall down and break. They were on a counter, lined up in a row, and she was standing a few feet away from the counter. And she ended up breaking them and hid the mess from her parents. They asked where the glasses were and she told them some kind of excuse.
Julian would tell the story of the first time he got drunk and sang at a tavern. He told them about how he was not embarrassed at all and owned that stage. He was completely drunk and kept saying pretty spicy things in the 'song'. He somehow remembered the song he sang and he only told everyone the lyrics. It would take a lot of drinks to get him to sing it again.
And that's it!! I hope yall enjoyed finding out about my inquisitors! I'm always open for asks for anything else! Like random questions about them, fic ideas, ask prompts from the things I reblog, or anything! I like attention and love talking about my inquisitors😌

RP Journal: 08/09/2020
Rae-Hann appeared to visit me today; it’s been a short bit since I’ve seen him, so he was welcome, as always. He has a strangely calming presence, the mystel, and I find I can talk to him about most anything. There was something a little disconcerting about his reason for finding me, though.
[ Courtsey cut for length. Are these ever short?! ]
It was just to give me a book, written mostly in Vrandtic, but with some parts on Astromancy that he thought might interest me. “I don’t want it left unattended,” he’d said, “should I find myself here physically. Or, dead.” That last worried me. Was he in some manner of trouble? Trouble always seemed to find Rae, no matter where in the worlds he went. I couldn’t help but ask him.
A secret, he said. I had to keep it a secret. Especially from Frey and Shieda. I owe more loyalty to Rae than the two of them combined, so being Rae’s secret-keeper was of little concern to me. What followed… I won’t even write here. A secret is a secret, after all. And Frey is a clever catte who would be the type to ferret out my journal just to see if I’d written anything. So, no, Frey, if you’re reading this. You’re not going to get it out of me. If Rae-Hann wanted you to know, he’d have told you.
He reassured me that I wouldn’t have to hunt him down, so that’s a relief. I have no doubt I could do it easily, but I wouldn’t want to. That’s a position I’d prefer to never have to be in. Still, I plan to keep an eye on Rae as much as I can, which means getting business concluded in Kugane and Ishgard so I can go back to the drama hot-bed that is Ul’dah. Gods, why do you keep dragging me back to that place?
Rae also spoke of helping him on some Vrandtic expedition he’ll be going on soon. I told him that he knows how to call for me if needed, so I suspect I’ll be taking a dream journey soon. I’m curious about this underwater trip that requires no swimming, though. How is that even going to work?
I’d have to figure it out later, because almost as if he has a sixth sense that I’m talking to someone else, Edgard Beaumont puts in an appearance. How is it that he knows just when to interrupt a pleasant conversation with the crushing weight of his ego? He was, of course, uniquely Edgard, making inferences about my relationship to Rae-Hann, who is only mentor and friend.
Though, once he heard mentor he couldn’t help but bring up that gods-awful Hunt and how I’d missed four shots. /Ugh./ Why did he even have to hear about it? I swear, I’m never going to live it down til the day I die. Or he does. It makes it very tempting to shoot him.
Edgard was Edgard, all talk and suave and confident assurance that I was enamored with him. However, the shocking thing wasn’t Edgard. It was Rae-Hann. There was a… concern there that I’d never before seen. Not like he was jealous, but more like my godfather, questioning if Edgard had untoward motives. Color me doubly gob-smacked when it seemed to… I don’t know, subdue Edgard. He admitted he liked my company. Admitted that it was all in good will and that he had no intention of trying to seduce me. I’m almost convinced he meant it.
Once Rae left, Edgard almost seemed uncomfortable that he’d made the admissions, like someone had suddenly pulled the mask off his facade and yelled “Ta-da!” It was...strange to see him so vulnerable, stripped of the veneer that was his cavalier, womanizing attitude. I only managed to tease him about it briefly before he shifted the topic to Edmond.
He’d apparently seen his brother somewhere recently and they’d made it a point to make up with one another. I was genuinely glad to hear it; family is such an important thing. It’s a shame to see people take it for granted, they don’t realize how lucky they are. There are some of us in the world that have no family to speak of. He went on to say that Edmond was in some manner of trouble, though he had no specifics on the why or the how. I offered to help, which, of course, Edgard had to make about him and how much I care about him. I swear, he’s such an idiot sometimes.
It didn’t take long for Edgard to recover from whatever blow Rae-Hann had dealt him. He was soon back to his usual antics. He mentioned somewhere along the line that he’d told me his intent wasn’t serious back in Ul’dah, but it’s hard to take Edgard seriously about anything when he’s talking to me. To listen to him tell someone else that his flirtations were empty and that it was just in goodwill and fun… it brought a strange sense of relief. I hadn’t realized it til then, how I was expecting him to try something or suggest something, prepared to haul off and slap him for it whenever it happened. It was nice to let go of that expectation. I felt more relaxed, less guarded. Like I wasn’t walking across a Garlean mine-field.
I started to feel more at ease, like I didn’t have to question every gesture and every turn of phrase for fear that he’d get the wrong idea. The rest of the night passed easily until the Ishgardian decided to go to bed, virtuously alone, but in those moments he seemed almost happy. Content. More than I’d seen him since the day I met him.
When I got back to the Bokairo, there was a mail moogle waiting with a letter for me from Lorrendor Hauland. I was sorely, sorely tempted to punt that marshmallow lump back to wherever it came from. I’m not even sure what he expected to accomplish by sending it. An apology on paper from half a world away? Tch. If you can’t even muster the guts to face me in person about the harm you’ve done, you don’t deserve to be forgiven.
Tristane was the most difficult thing I’ve ever had to face in my life. I /watched/ him die, even as I tried to save him. I can still feel the heat of his blood pumping over my hands in time with his heartbeat as I tried to staunch the most vital of his wounds. I can still feel his bloodied hand on my cheek, wiping away my tears as he gasped out that he was glad I was safe. Gods damn you Tristane Alexander, I never wanted to be safe! I wanted to live or die at your side, as your partner and your love. I wanted us to fight this battle together. But you left me behind…
(whatever came next was scribbled out in a large block of ink)
I buried him with my own two hands beneath the caelumtree where we first met. There isn’t a thing about home that doesn’t remind me of him and why going home is always so bittersweet for me. Sometimes, I wonder if it’s also why I left…
These feelings are not weapons to be used against me when someone finds them convenient. When someone wants to manipulate me into permitting behavior I would never allow. I never share Tristane’s death lightly and to have it used as a crutch to try get me to accept being treated as anything other than an equal...as anything other than a /friend/... I can’t just /forgive/ that. I would never use that kind of knowledge like that.
Gods, just look at what I know about Edgard and Rae-Hann, the loves they’ve lost. I would never use that knowledge to try and manipulate them. The very idea makes me sick to my stomach. Their pain, that agony, is a symbol of trust and vulnerability that should be kept sacred and precious. Used only to make them better men and for their own gain, not as a method and means for mine.
I just can’t understand the thinking. Maybe I just don’t get it.
Mentions @yokasaris for Rae-Hann @sola-ffxiv for side-mention of Frey I don’t think any of the other nerds mentioned have Tumblrs (yet)

So Im starting to gwt a flu could you do what some characters would do if the s/o got sick? Rn Im just resting and drinking tea I dunno how to take care of myself
OH NO!! My star?? I’m so sorry that you’re getting sick! I recommend staying in bed, drinking lots of water, and taking a hot shower.
This is a random selection of characters. If you would like a specific fandom or character, then feel free to send another ask.
🧡 Overwatch 🧡
• Zenyatta
- The human body is so complex in ways that it can fully support itself, yet remains vulnerable to certain ailments. He knows this and understands your pain, despite not having a proper human body, Zenyatta will try his best to take care of you.
- The body must heal itself, but paired with medicine, it can help the process more quickly. With that being said, he travels far and wide to bring you the best! It can range from exotic teas to herbal capsules.
- He stays with you during every minute since he doesn’t fear getting sick, and happily attends to any task to help aid your road to recovery.
• Ashe
- Eh, she doesn’t know what to do personally, since she always had Bob to take care of her when she was seriously ill. She even thought about lending you him for a hot minute, but Ashe buckled down and decided that she needed to do this. You are after all her greatest jewel, and what would people say if they knew that she didn’t take care of her most precious piece of treasure?
- “Take this, sugar.”
“Uh, what is it?”
“It’s soup and I spent a century making it, so eat up!”
“Oh, I thought it was just a bowl of water with, uh, what is that?”
- Cue the icy glare and incoherent mumbling.
- In the end, Bob ended up helping, mostly by fetching you medicine and making food, but Ashe always brings it to ya. She caresses your head and kisses it lightly whenever she sees you and sits by your bed to talk. If you can’t talk, then Ashe will silently hold your hand.
💚 Dragon Age 💚
• Morrigan
- “Ugh, why must you become ill? And why must you stare at me like a weeping babe? Do you honestly expect me to pamper you when you are fully capable of ta-.”
- That’s the sound of her giving in. She may not be gentle with her care and concern but that’s because she knows that these things pass, and if you happen to become more ill, why then, aren’t you lucky that you have a powerful witch as a partner?
- Morrigan rarely got sick as a child, but when she did, her mother made the vilest potions to rid her of fever or stomach pain. It often worked but the taste was quite vulgar, but then again, it helped, so open wide. Morrigan also treats you to a hearty stew afterwards with a pinch of something special added in.
• Solas
- He may detest tea, but he creates a special blend to help with any symptoms that you may have. (Tumeric, ginger, roasted green tea, and a spoonful of honey!)
- Solas would want to spend as much time with you as possible since being sick is a very uncomfortable and sometimes lonely experience. He sits next to your bed and reads about a variety of subjects. His rich voice flows effortlessly off of each page and you find yourself drifting into a deep sleep. When you awake, Solas slumbers right next to you with his book placed on his chest.
- Solas consults some spirits from time to time since he never really personally took care of someone before, and fears that he may make the situation worse somehow. You’re going to have to reassure him that he’s doing the best he can, and this too shall pass.

I got tagged by @animusrisunovatur to answer 16 questions
Nickname: Tatya or Spring, usually
Zodiac: Gemini
Height: 5′3.25"
Last thing I Googled: the Blackmarsh Fade puzzle in DA: Awakening
Song in my head: I Am WomanEnby, Hear Me Roar (revised lyrics, of course, of the original) by Helen Reddy
Followers and following: I have 124 followers and I’m following 670 blogs (several are inactive these days).
Amount of sleep: 6ish
Lucky number: 3 & 13
Dream job: I don't have a singular dream "job". Working for a paycheck isn't appealing in any way, shape, or form.
Wearing: *shifty eyes*
Fave songs: Ask an easy one, why don'tcha? That's like picking a favorite book, or a favorite artist... there are so many that are so good for so many different reasons. Ugh... a selection...
Sing by the Carpenters
Find the Music In You by The Pony Tones (yes, from MLP:FiM)
The Parting Glass by The Wailin' Jennys
Old Black Rum by Great Big Sea
Landslide by the Dixie Chicks
Get Up, Stand Up by Bob Marley & The Wailers
Hold My Heart by Lindsey Sterling
Gah... you see why this is hard? And this isn't even touching the harder rock or instrumental stuff... 😛
Instruments: I used to read treble, C, and bass clefs; could play six instruments expertly, three instruments proficiently, and two I could stumble along on. Now... now I could maybe translate a simple piece of music, given enough time and do not play any instruments... it would take much practice to get anything back on even one.
Random fact: The blesbok, a South African antelope, is almost the same color as grapejuice.
Favorite Authors: This is like the favorite music question... but in this case, many of my favorite authors are mutuals and so I'm not going to risk my brain forgetting a name and hurting someone's feelings.
If you mean published by mainstream publishers, that's still a hard question. I love Anne McCaffrey's books, but not her later life politics... her son's crap is right out. I like Nora Roberts' trilogies, but not her singletons. Sharon Lee & Steve Miller are both the cutest couple ever and also write some of my favorite space operas. Cherie Priest is a go to for steampunk. Oh... Elizabeth Moon, Lynn Flewelling... I feel like I should link to the Great Book Reorganization post from Facebook back in the day. *snort* There's John Scalzi and the guy who wrote The Black Company books (I can't remember his name for the life of me).
Fave animal sounds: Kitty chirps and purrs.
Aesthetic: long skirts, cropped hair, bright colors, cats, dried herbs, smells of cooking from the kitchen and growing things from open windows, clutter, thunder storms, warm scented baths with candles & wine, books, paintings stacked against the wall, children running, science experiments, copper pots, etc.
Tagging: @himluv, @roguelioness, @solas-disapproves, @serial-chillr, @littleblue-eyedbird & any who would like to do this!

8. A companion teases them about their feelings
Thank you so much for this ask! It was too much fun to write! Obviously, Mathrras had to be in on this as well.
Rating - T (swearing and drinking)
Ship - Solas/F!Lavellan (pre-relationship)
Word Count: 1898
8. A companion teases them about their feelings
Going to the Tavern was not something that Tamaris had done many times since coming to Haven. It was loud, there were often too many people and Solas rarely went there. She had become his shadow in the past two months. If they were in Haven or even on the road if someone needed to find one. They only had to look for the other. He fascinated her and she intrigued him endlessly. Their conventions seemed to have no end. There were already whispers of a romance brewing but Tamaris tried to pay that little mind. Though she did little to stop them either.
She thought Solas was a handsome man, who was also one of the most intelligent men she had ever come across. Was it terrible if she was developing feelings for him? Or was it the natural course of finding someone who understood her to her very core. How could that be wrong? Mathras had been concerned about just how much time she was spending alone with Solas, which is why he had retrieved her from his cabin. He was currently locked arm in arm with her forcing her to go with him to the tavern.
“I really would much rather go back and spend my evening with Solas.” Tamaris protested softly, her hand gripping her brother’s arm tighter than it needed to be. She pulled back towards the small structure she had just left. “We were discussing the history of our people Mathras…”
Mathras was unfazed by her protest, he had seen worse from her when they were children. “You need to be social…”
“I am..” Tamaris snapped back quickly, her lips pursed in a scowl.
“With Solas and only Solas..” Mathras pointed arrogance slipping into his tone.
Tamaris stopped digging the heels of her boots into the half-frozen earth. “What is that supposed to mean… Mathras?” Her eyes were wide as she snarled at her brother shoving him.
Mathras laughed when he barely moved at his sister’s assault. “It means I know you are sweet on him and I do not approve.” His tone was hard for Tamaris to read, she could not tell if he was being serious or if he was joking with her.
Her mouth hung open for a minute in shock, her eyes wide as she muttered. “What is wrong with Solas?” Tamaris’s voice was filled with confusion as Solas had never given her a moment’s doubt that he was a good man in the time they had to know each other.
Mathras stood stoned faced for a few beats before the corners of his mouth twisted upwards and he started to chuckle deep in his chest. “You do like him! Shite… Cullen owes me an Ale.” Mathras continued to laugh as Tamaris stood sour-faced with her arms folding in front of her chest upset that her brother had all but forced her to confess her crush on Solas.
To make matters worse, the last two men who needed to learn this information were nearing as they talked amongst themselves. “Lads! I was right… I was right!” Mathras exclaimed as he strutted over to Cullen and Varric who both were looking right at Tamaris. The moment she caught the stunned, almost hurt, look on Cullen’s face. Tamaris felt her cheeks flush red and quickly moved to hide her face in her hands.
All she wanted to do was run, run straight to Solas and complain about how rotten her brother could be, but it was still the overwhelming desire to just flee the situation before things became even more awkward. “I am going to kill you in your sleep Mathras.” Tamaris mumbled into her hands before peering up to see if the men were still paying attention to her.
They were.
Cullen’s eyes were still fixed on her, his mouth hung open as he passively listened to Mathras recount the exchange a few moments before. “Then, she goes ‘What’s wrong with Solas?’.” Varric chuckled softly at the story Mathras told before patting him on the arm.
“Alright, alright… don’t scare her off now that you actually stole her away from Chuckles lets get her having a little real fun before we drive her away.” Varric said brightly before turning to Tamaris and sauntering over. “Come on Bubbles, you want a drink? Talk about all your complex feelings for Chuckles while we play a game of Wicked Grace?” He teased with a soft smile extending a large hand to her. “I promise I will only use some of it for my book…”
Tamaris peaked at him from behind her hands mumbling “I do not want to talk about Solas…”
“Fine, we will and you can listen but you can’t stand out here in the cold and snow.” The shorter man tapped his boot on the crusty snow that had compacted on the dirt path through the down. “Now you can either come willingly or I am sure we can persuade the Commander over there to pick you up and toss you over his shoulder and carry you in.” Varric glanced back at Cullen who’s cheeks blushed deep red as he hid his face behind his hands. “I mean I do believe he would toughly enjoy throwing you over his shoulder..”
Tamaris cut him off with scowl as she stormed bast the shorter man and towards the Tavern. She paused she passed Cullen and looked at him for a moment. He began to stammer. “I swear, it’s nothing of the sort…”
“LIES” Mathras yelled with a laugh as he pushed open the door allowing Tamaris to walk in. She gave him a stern glare as she pushed passed him, her hand roughly shoving him into the heavy wooden door. “Oy, da’len…”
“Do not dare ‘da’len’ me, Mathras.” She scolding sounding painfully like their late mother for a moment. “You are just horrible! You are lucky I am even staying!” There were few people in the Tavern as many scouts were out looking for any new Templar or Mage activity. Tamaris took a seat by a window, Cullen and Varric went to the bar to get their drinks.
Mathras joined his sister and for a moment the bravado faded away. He placed his hand between her shoulder blades as he sat down. Once seated he turned to her with a warm, apologetic expression. Tamaris continued to scowl. “Ir abelas da'asa'ma'lin,”
“matel'abelas,” Tamaris retorted quickly. She was about to unleash on him in their native tongue but Varric and Cullen were making their way back to the table. “Ass.” Tamaris settled as Varric set the tankard of ale in front of her.
“Now… Level with us Bubbles, you really got a thing for Chuckles or is it just you don’t like the rest of us?” Varricquired as he sat down next to Cullen who was already downing his drink.
Tamaris sighed, she knew that either she answered their questions or she was going to be hounded all night by Varric and Mathras. Out of the corner of her eye she glanced at Cullen. If the other two kept things up Cullen wouldn’t last the night. “Alright. Fine..” She started softly as she took a sip of the ale. She didn’t like the taste but she was not accustomed to discussing her feelings. “I like him, we get on better than I get on with him…” She pointed to Mathras who just shrugged as he took a drink. “He is a Dreamer like I am. I have never met anyone else like me…”
Cullen looked up, “In the Circle, they said they were rare enough, to begin with. Then, most that were heard of died or were made Tranquil before they reached adulthood…” Cullen looked down into his tankard and mumbled. “I mean… shit…” He cursed as he realized how he had come off.
Varric chuckled as he reached over and placed his hand over Tamaris. “Don’t mind him, take the boy out of the Templars…” He mused softly before patting the young woman’s hand. “So he is creepy powerful mage like you are… I see the appeal… you can do dangerous mage things together.” Tamaris pulled her hand away and scowled. “It wasn’t meant as anything mean, Bubbles… come on.”
Mathras cleared his throat as he set his now empty tankard down. “If I can be honest, the idea of you do getting involved… Mythal’s Mercy… have… “ He fakes nearly vomiting. “Sex… and you end up with child…” Mathras sat back in his chair as he folded his arms in front of his chest. “I mean… no… that would be crazy powerful magic and the world doesn’t need more of that.”
Shifting in his seat uncomfortably by the turn the conversation had taken Cullen looked away as downed the rest of his ale. “Another round? Another…. yes… “ He mumbles as he stood up and sauntered over to slowly taking time to collect himself.
Tamaris scowled she pushed her drink away from her. “There is nothing going on between Solas and I…. and you are already talking about children. What is wrong with you?” She was annoyed at the teasing and constant questions. She was uncomfortable with the fact that she wasn’t the only one with a crush. That apparently there had been other motives for inviting her out that night. She pushed her chair back from the table and stood up.
“Hey… come on… we were just playing Tamaris…” Mathras leaned forward and grabbed his sister’s hand stopping her from leaving. “We just… don’t get it. You know Cullen likes you right?”
“He is a Templar!” Tamaris exclaimed louder than she was expecting. “Why would you ever! UGH!” She snatched her hand away and stormed off leaving Cullen standing redfaced at the bar hanging his head in shame while Varric and Mathras tried to chase after her.
Tamaris was faster than she looked. By the time Mathras and Varric had exited the Tavern, Tamaris was standing at the top of the stairs already feverishly recounting the events to Solas.
Mathras groaned and tossed his head back. “They are going to get married, have babies, I mean Solas is the perfect match for my sister.”
Varric nodded beside him. “You aren’t wrong there, I mean I have seen all kinds of relationships play out but that… that is something I have yet to see my friend.” He folded his arms in front of his broad chest, settling back on the heels of his boots.
“And what would that be, oh wise Master Thethras?”
“Soulmates my friend…” Varric mused sounding far more romantic than his usual self. “Look at them, they were made for each other.” He gestured toward the pair who were standing at the top of the stairs, Solas appeared to be trying to calm Tamaris down and doing a better job of it that Mathras has ever seen. “He is the Bubbles whisper… even more than you…”
“Shut up…” Mathras snorted. “I really don’t want to think about spending the rest of my life being related by marriage to Solas…” He hung his head, he wanted to be happy in some way for Tamaris but he knew that there was never going to be a happy ending for her.
Varric reached up and clapped Mathras on the shoulder. “Come on, let’s go drink your problems away…”

For DADWC: for sollavellan “fuck you.”
You got it! @dadrunkwriting
Pairing: Solavellen (Thenera and Solas)
Rating: Ehhh Teen? Mild gore and language. And feels. Sorry not sorry.
Set in Crestwood, the first time they visit the wyvern cavern. You know the one.
A tremor if unspent energy ran through her arm as she took the final steps out of the cave. It was surreal, seeing this place, this clearing like this.
Then what I must tell you… The truth.
The sun streamed in, lighting the status of Ghilain’nan, the rich smell of wet vegetation filling her nose. Disquiet filled her. This place. Ugh. A tremor of panic raced under her skin, and tears threatened to overtake her, so at odds with this peaceful, beautiful clearing filled with statues to her gods. Bird cries echoed around her.
And I am sorry. I distracted you from your duty. It will never happen again.
A noise from the pool pulled her back to the present, an insistent twinge from the anchor reminding her of the battle to come. Quickly, before her party could ask questions, could note her strangled expression. It was lucky she could blame the anchor.
“Get behind me.” She said, just loud enough for the group to hear, and the wyvern’s heads snapped up at the noise. She raised her marked hand towards them.
Fuck this cavern.
Her anger, bitterness, and hurt all mingled, pulling through her with the magic of the mark, of the fade, of him. The space over the water exploded into deafening green light, a boom echoing oddly in the circular space. She watched with grim satisfaction as the wyverns writhed in agony, and drew her bow, laying arrows as quickly as she could into the largest of the three.
Following her cue, Dorian and Solas began firing into the sphere of green energy as well, Varric firing off Bianca to match. Bull and Cole stood on either side of Thenera, tense and ready.
“It’s not the pool’s fault.” Cole offered quietly as the green light faded. “Does it help the hurt?”
She glanced at the spirit before he bounded away, and she turned back, loosing another arrow as her voice caught in her throat. She was distracted and she knew it. She backed up, towards the mouth of the cave, in case she needed to run, in case her memories of this place overwhelmed her.
Bull roared as he slammed his hammer into the skull of one of the smaller ones, a sickening crack splitting the clearing as it broke beneath everite, and the creature dropped without ceremony. The other two roared, and she managed to fire just as the other small one reared, exposing its neck, and the arrow went clean through. It thrashed as Cole flitted away, nearly hit but not, and fell still.
Only one left. The largest one, in bad shape. Chunks of flesh were missing or charred, but somehow it still moved, screaming as it lunged and swiped at Bull, tail lashing as Cole tried to approach it, a blurring shadow that didn’t seem to quite touch the ground.
You are so beautiful.
Thenera stuttered, costing precious seconds before the adrenaline pushed the thought from her mind. Solas threw lightning from his staff as Dorian enveloped Bull and Cole in a barrier, and Bull, not to be outdone, screamed right back at the thing as it convulsed from the electric current, which carried through the water and grounded harmlessly, unable to reach the melee fighters through their barrier.
Bull’s hammer connected again, and the wyvern shook its head, attempting to dispel the blow. Thenera loaded an exploding arrow, aiming for the join above its arm, loosing it to find its mark with all the force she could muster.
“Fuck you.” She murmured to the cavern as her arrow flew.
As it landed, the wyvern convulsed with another jolt of lightning, Bull struck it again, and Cole had blurred around somewhere behind it’s other leg joint, and the beast fell to the cavern floor with a huff. Bull let out a whoop of victory.
“This was great Boss, when do we get to fight a real one?” Bull asked, grinning as the barrier slipped from around him. He bent down to rinse some of the muck from his hands and forearms, holstering his weapon after cleaning it.
“I for one could do with much less of this fighting in damp and muddy conditions.” Dorian added, casting an ascerbic look to Bull. Defintley not appreciating the water on the Qunari’s muscles. Certainly not.
“I dunno Bull. But I promise we will.” Thenera responded, offering a weak smile as she turned to leave the clearing, shooting one last look over her shoulder as she left. She was in no state to strip the hides, and they had been mangled enough it would barely be worth it anyways. Solas looked at her curiously, and she gave him a reassuring smile. Or, what she hoped was reassuring. Those were questions she really, really didn’t want to answer. Didn’t want to accidentally change things and wind up caught off guard. He moved closer to her, within the sphere of privacy, and she mouthed ‘anchor’ to him with an apologetic look.
