Just imagine how it would be, playing as Solas... Solas preventing Solas to ruin the Veil... Solas being sarcastic with Solas about 'the God of lies, treachery and rebellion. Depending on the story, of course'.

Solavellan fic recs please I’m so hungry 🥺🥺

oh I'd love to provide! these have been my personal favorites so far (also fair warning, I am a solavellan fucked in DAI truther and that is reflected in my choices below so your mileage may vary)

Everything by niceasspavus - especially their fic Servitude which is an absolute masterwork. The prose is succinct but spectacular, the smut is excellent and never feels out of place (smut sometimes can with solavellan okay) and they dig into Solas' mind in a really beautiful way. They also started a modern AU fic and while that's not usually my trope at all, I've actually read what they have posted so far like three times because it's so good. Can't wait to see if they grace us with more.

Fellchaser by @rosieofcorona - Okay make that literally anything Darcy touches I recommend but Fellchaser is...I want to plaster my walls with it. The walls of my mind prison at least. The first time I read it, I literally read it five times back to back to back (I was admittedly very high but that's NOT THE POINT) because I was so taken with the prose and every detail. It is absolute perfection, seriously, the only thing wrong with it is that it isn't 100k words

What He Wouldn't Give by sugarhihello - a devastating take what happens immediately after the Crestwood scene we know and hate to love. I'm scared of writers who can make me want more of a scene like that and yet this fic gives me that

Dreadful Recollections by @scaryanneee - if you know me from the bg3 era at all, you know Think of Me is a smut of all time so scaryanne joining us in solavellan hell has been SO FUN (for me personally at least eheheh) This little smut is so brilliant because it truly gave me so many ideas to play with for my own ship during this time period while also being so hot??? Also just read the tags on this and you know you're in for a great time

Handle With Care by feynite - I'm sure you've seen feynite if you've looked at solavellan fics because Looking Glass is the biggest one but I think this is just a really excellent little fic of theirs. Sad AND sexy - what every Solas fan is looking for I think

I wonder what the moments before the well conversation were

amidst his fear and frustration with how the events at the temple played out, did he ask a servant to pack her a bag? Did he pack it himself? What was the chatter around the great hall as residents and visitors alike noticed the apostate’s belongings joining the inquisitors down the stairs.

What did Dennet think, when solas requested two mounts be prepared for a long journey moments after the party returned from the arbor wilds? Could he sense Solas’ anxiety? The fearful thread of hope that threatened to lighten his shoulders?

How quickly did the kitchen staff begin to gossip about rations prepared for two? Did they slip an extra skein of into the pack, their own well-wishes poured in with the good wine?

What did Lavellan think, arriving at the foot of the gates to find weeks worth of travel prepared, two bedrooms and a single tent, Solas standing taller than he ever had, save in their shared dreams, and holding out a hand to help her mount her steed. Did his hand tremble with the weight of what he would say? Or did the prospect of finally admitting the truth help him leap into the saddle?

How quickly did the entire castle know that solas intended to devote himself to the inquisitor

and how quickly did all their smiles turn to ash when he returned alone

IT'S DONE! Finally finished my stained-glass embroidery version of the Tower card from DA:I's tarot :)

This one was both simpler than my Hierophant design (less busy so less sections, simpler background divisions, smoother lines/shapes) and also more complicated (taught myself vector art so I could print the design onto the fabric instead of hand drawing/transferring, I had to dye my own dark red and grey threads, which are used for the wolf + the figure and some of the background). I'm happy with how it turned out, just gotta add a hook to the wall so it can hang with the others. And I still need to finish figuring out my design for The Hermit--that one has been the hardest to transition to this style so far.

(also, I am very tentatively thinking about taking embroidery commissions later this summer. if that's something you're interested in feel free to let me know, though be warned the large illustration style are like 35-50 hours to complete and would be expensive)

I think he's a fucking asshole and I love it.

He's no longer wearing his "polite mask", as Lavellan can say in DA:I. He is not the same person we knew before because he was pretending to be someone else then. And yet. You do still see those parts of him still, in the way he speaks, in the way he thinks, etc. He's the same and yet he's not, but the ways in which he's not feel authentic rather than "OOC" because part of his character established is that he was faking so much for the Inquisition.

'varric's vibe when you pick the 'I'm worried' option after he asks you how you feel about having solas in your head is so fucking funny. the very careful 'so, uh, just... out of casual interest why -- why aren't you putting wards on yourself and your mind to keep him out, and incidentally exactly how might you do it if you did. no reason why I'm asking just. curious. I have no stance on this' probing of it all (that should be the giveaway in itself, really, in hindsight I think real varric would be a lot more freaked out on rook's behalf about this even if he might still have reached the conclusion that the connection to solas was worth the risk, he's got kirkwall blood magic trauma to fill a telephone catalogue). that and the '>:) then I see you've made a choice (so this is basically a little bit on you now, you got fairly outsmarted etc., I don't have to feel as guilty thank you for having youthful hubris that will be your undoing so I can feel less bad about my role in it). honestly if anything I'm doubling down on my previous 'mind!varric is directly controlled by solas the majority of the time and rook's mind is mostly a collaborateur' post. this conversation is transparently solas gathering intel and giving you the 101 on leadership while you're building a small focused rebel force.

in solas' defense... this whole situation is very very funny in an extremely dark kind of way he is nothing if not on brand. the stuff he says about himself in this conversation is like. he's both reading himself for filth AND he can't read all of a sudden he can't uh......... he has plenty of self-insight (a single flower with blackened petals) and it helps him exactly not at all in breaking his patterns lmao

also it makes the relationship between solas and rook so. so much. what an insane intimacy in grieving for someone so much you both conspire to raise him from the dead together, just for a little while, because neither of you can bear to let go. what a violation in being the only knowing party in that. solas can hear rook following through on relaying his apology to 'varric' no matter what else they think of him. and he still does what he does to them in the end. he's feeding them affection (some of it even real eventually, I think, he clearly respects rook as a pure agent of chaos on some level and has some incredulous amused fondness for them no matter how you end up in your relationship with him) and confidence with one hand, and readying a knife in the other the whole time. solas my love my friend my genuine darling I think I will have to strangle you unfortunately
