soooo i never have any plans to continue this soujiro seta x oc story i made years ago, but since i only have a number of OC in my head, i thought of pursuing my childhood dream of finally drawing her beside soujiro:) dream come true, i guess!

Right I've long begun envisioning an AU where kenshin takes in soujiro at some point after Kyoto Arc because he sees himself in soujiro. so soujiro has been wandering for a short while right? and then he meets kenshin again and somehow finds himself being taken in by the Kamiya Dojo.

Man I forgot just how good Sojiro Seta's whole shtick was. Not just a cliche smiling villain or creepy childminded killer, but an internally logical one. Because he's not just a trope with an explanation rationalizing it; the fact that he's emotionally repressed, and thus smiles at inappropriate times, has consequences when those repressed emotions are brought to the forefront.

And even beyond the tropey visual drama of it makes for such a good dynamic just writing wise because Kenshin spends all this time espousing his ethics to various adults with their own personal and political perspectives on who should get to hit whom with swords, but then he gets to Sojiro and halfway into the fight everyone in the room realizes that Sojiro doesn't "disagree" with Kenshin's ethics, he literally cannot comprehend them.

And as the perfect punctuation to that, one of the other villains is the one who responds to his confusion with a quiet, understated kind of pity and disgust. An almost literal, "Oh... He's fucked up..." moment
