In East Berlin around the late 60s /early 70s, KGB Asset 3B-1 is tasked with surveiling a subject that has raised some low grade red flags. Nothing too serious. The original order is to just eliminate the subject - kind of like you would swat a fly before it becomes a nuisance - but Asset 3B-1's personal equipment malfunctions and the whole thing gets switched to recon first and this is how Asset 3B-1 finds himself watching a hapless artist sleep, mostly. Until of course the truth comes out, the way it always does. Because at the core of this are Bucky and Steve, as always---idiots who are being the most idiotic idiots about everything, especially each other.

A/N: Yep, it's sat going down another canon-bending rabbit hole, this time in the footsteps of John le Carré and every Cold War spy movie ever. Strap in, darlings.

Thinking some thoughts recently…

Waking up in the morning a little bit colder due to the winter weather, but also the fact that your boyfriend is no longer beside you. You missed the heat of his body as a chill ran through you. With a yawn and a stretch big enough to ease your tired muscles, you roll out of bed to find your favorite heat source. Sure enough, he’s exactly where you expect him to be; bopping away in the studio. You check the time to see it’s almost 10:00am. It’s the weekend, so you’re not bothered by the time, but you do wonder how long he’s been in here already. You decide to make your presence known with a soft “morning,” before walking closer to him. He turns in his chair to reply, but as soon as he sees you, he can’t help but chuckle. There you stand, engulfed in one of his hoodies with the warmest and coziest blanket in the house wrapped around your shoulders and covering your head. “Morning,” he says with a grin. “You cold?” “Yes, and it’s your fault,” you say, stepping in between his legs as he looks up fondly. “Oh yeah? How so?” He looks so cozy, also sporting a hoodie and sweats, hair still a little messy, which leads you to believe that he hasn’t been in here for very long, actually. “Woke up and you weren’t there, and you know I can’t sleep without my space heater.” Noah barks out a laugh before you feel his tattooed hands on your hips, pulling you into him. You instantly start to feel warm again. “Well then,” he states as you climb in the chair to straddle his lap. “I guess I better warm you up again. Can’t have you freezing all day.” You let out a content sigh at the feeling of his big, buff arms around you and nuzzle your nose into his neck. You feel Noah jump slightly. “Jesus! Your nose is fucking freezing.” “Shouldn’t have gotten out of bed,” you quip back. He kisses your forehead before mumbling out a sarcastic “Yeah, okay.” And that’s how you sit for a while, soaking up his natural body heat and placing sweet kisses of his neck and shoulder every so often.

For Iceman, a port call to Hawaii holds more significance than the first step off of the boat at the end of a cruise. This was the closest place to a home he could achieve, one of the few places he actually bothered to unbox his things. He was able to go out and explore and make friends and make out with friends and have a life. It was the first time that his wants were able to somehow coexist with his father’s demands, the first time his father’s gaze was no longer burning a hole in the back of his head. He was a jagged cliff worn smooth below the water’s surface by the crashing waves that eroded away at his rough exterior.

So to Ice, it was of great importance to show Slider and whoever from their squadron followed around the place that was more to him than just another base, another stop in his father’s career. He introduced them to what lay beneath the superficial front created by the tourism industry, a tour guide who knew the islands like the back of his hand and then some. This was the first time most of them had met Tom.

I've seen some people questioning Remus as Fear in the new aside and I'm here to defend that placement.

As Virgil himself said, he would obviously be the first choice for fear, I think most of us agree on that, but he made even more sense with Anxiety for... obvious reasons, so we had to go for the second best

Roman loves adventuring and challenges, he always wants to get to new highs and outdo himself, so not him

Not all fears are irrational, but a lot of them are and even the rational ones can easily be exaggerated in your mind, so not Logan either

Janus hides things for you so don't have to think about them. Or fear them.

Patton would be my third choice actually, he has a similar aesthetic to Fear and he's responsible for a lot of emotions, but his approach tends to be more "let's ignore those bad feelings and focus on the good things!" (I do think he could've been Joy, that would really work for him)

So we get to Remus. On the surface level, they're completely opposites, Fear is soft-spoken, jumpy, polite, and dresses like those over the top nerdy characters in old high school movies, Remus is... Remus, but that's how they manifest for the different people they belong to, cause obviously Riley (the 14 years old girl/nb who's into hockey) and C!Thomas (the 30 something theater kid) are very different and are gonna view and manifest their emotions differently.

But at their core, they can serve a very similar purpose: reminding their person of things they fear and that makes them paranoid and that they don't really want to think about, the obvious difference being that Remus is more about scaring Thomas and Fear is more about being scared for Riley

Just my opinion tho feel free to disagree just don't be mean about it
