The Shed: A Mini Review
IMDB Summary
“Stan lives with his abusive grandfather and tries to protect his best friend from high school bullies. When he discovers a murderous creature has taken refuge inside his tool shed, he tries to battle the demon alone until his bullied friend discovers the creature and has a far more sinister plan.”
"What the fuck is inside the shed???"
Very interesting and fun premise with ,at times, a not so fun execution. This definitely had potential to be really fun and exciting but the characters seem like caricatures rather than real people. The third act was pretty great with its spooky home invasion vibes. There was also decent gore and vampire design. For all its flaws, I think i liked it???
Love an axe/knife throwing moment.
Stanley deserved better friends and I hope he moves far away to start a new life!!!

Horror Movie Review: The Shed (2019)
Horror Movie Review: The Shed (2019)
A clever take on a horror villain that lacks originality, The Shed is vampire flick directed by Frank Sabatella with a story by Jason Rice.
It also doesn’t hang about, as we’re introduced to a man running for his life through a forest as the sun rises. He is being hunted by something we get glimpses of in the background, a pale and dark figure. The man stops for a breather, thinking he has…

THE SHED
If in the bullied teen horror subgenre Brian De Palma’s CARRIE (1976) is the gold standard, then Frank Sabatella’s THE SHED (2019) is probably a bronze plus. It benefits from a strong cast, some astute filmmaking tricks (slow pans and overhead shots to generate tension) and a savvy depiction of the power dynamics in high school cliques. Stan (Jay Jay Warren) is an orphan bullied by his grandfather (Timothy Bottoms), the legal system and high school hot shot Marbles (Chris Petrovski). Then a recently turned vampire (Frank Whalley) takes refuge from sunlight in the grandfather’s shed. After it does in his dog (yes, the dog dies, but it’s early, so don’t’ get attached) and grandpa, Warren boards up the shed. Can you guess where this is going? Sabatella works an interesting variation in that Warren keeps trying to keep people out of the shed, with little luck. Then his equally bullied best friend (Cody Kostro) decides the shed is the perfect vehicle for revenge. The leading lady (Sofia Happonen, who’s pretty but not all there yet as an actor) is an outsider like Warren, but has bartered sex to get in with bullies and mean girls. Yet she’s drawn to Warren and becomes more than just a quivering damsel in distress. There are flaws. During the final attack, some of the characters are downright stupid for no other reason than to stretch out the action, and the punch line seems unnecessary, more as if Sabatella were setting up a sequel than making a dramatic point. But he keeps the film moving, avoids the more obvious pitfalls of the genre and had the smarts to cast the wonderful Siobahn Fallon Hogan, one of the best actors working today, as the town sheriff. For horror buffs there’s also a great bit in which Warren bones up on vampire lore by watching a film called “The Return of the Vampire,” which is really THE TERROR (1963) with new dialog dubbed over it (and a faulty TV set creating interference that blocks the characters’ lips). The thought of some forgotten film in which Dick Miller teaches Jack Nicholson how to hunt vampire Boris Karloff is enough to send any true horror geek into throes of ecstasy.

Frank Whaley, Cody Kostro, Sofia Happonen, Timothy Bottoms e Jay Jay Warren estrelam. (em Tijuca, Rio De Janeiro, Brazil) https://www.instagram.com/p/B5TvLBClLK7/?igshid=v70gmzzk0c7y
