@fighting-these-demons re: Domon and Kyoji
that is exactly who I imagine whenever I see this post.
Domon is exactly the kind of person to have A Routine (especially since I've settled on AuDHD Domon as a headcanon), and we have seen Kyoji mess with him, just with more of a goal in mind.
(I also kind of wonder what kind of video games, if any, Kyoji would go for. Which is very hard for me to speculate on because my answers would be extraordinarily biased towards my own tastes. )

Fucking Seconded.
the city where we live doesn't allow public barbecues so my brother fucking welded a grill to a handcart and now hosts "chill and grill sessions" where he sends all his friends his live location so they can hunt him down on their bikes with sausages in their backpacks while he carts it around evading the police like some sort of barbecue vigilante, grilling on the run. i have never been prouder of him

you know what i miss in movies. sincerity. authenticity. when scripts didn't spend their time being overtly self aware, lampshading all of their mistakes, and winking at the camera. when they told stories without a sense of spectator before they even hit the screen

I've basically been gunning on teaching myself comics (with a few wrong turns 🥴) the last few years and I've been pleased at everything I've learned so far and proud of the projects I've completed! But I think I really need to accept that the way I draw is just not social media friendly 🧍‍♂️

I don’t miss her anymore!!(the girl who used to be a tiktok/twitter addict, never went outside, spent years cooped up in her room, made idiotic decisions)
I love her!!(the girl who’s best friends are tumblr, Pinterest, and nature)
I love her!!(the girl who goes outside and documents her life, while not overly exciting, still managing to live in the moment)
I love her!!(the girl who is slowly finding her peace through stories, nature, and film)
I love her!!(the girl who’s no longer struggling to keep high grades and finding that learning comes easy to her when she doesn’t procrastinate)
I love her!!(the girl who’s no longer afraid to express herself in what she wears, how she carries herself, what she loves doing)

*sigh*
someone here failed the child empathy challenge today >_>
one of my family members used to work at a school and wanted my help making little goodie bags of halloween candy because we like to know how many kids to expect each year
problem is, this family member mentioned wanting to hand each kid a baggie, and when I pointed out that hey, maybe that would come off as kind of lame to the kids, they tend to prefer being able to pick their treat themselves, maybe we should just present the basket of little baggies and say "take one?" (the bags are see-through). the response I got was "well that's kind of insulting to me, personally, because I came up with the idea to hand them out."
and I'm just sitting here thinking "seriously??? you're usually one of the reasonable ones. Why settle for 'good enough' when you can make the kids happier with exactly zero extra effort on any of our parts?" <_<
Like, a huge thing kids don't tend to like is adults who need to have everything "just so." Kids like a little chaos, they like a big tub of things they can choose from, and they like to have as many limited instances of being able to pick literally anything for themselves as they can, because nearly everything in their lives is decided for them.
I'm not even going to go into the pushback on "maybe we should have a few 'allergy-free' bags in the mix so that kids can choose a bag that they can eat everything out of'' - actually fuck it I am. To that I got "well those kids' parents will take the candy they can't eat'' That is not the point? The point is that those kids effectively get less candy? Don't go on to me about equality and then snub equity in the same breath ffs (╯‵□′)╯︵┻━┻

lol maybe how i hunt for fanfiction is different from everyone else but the thought of doing weird math to prove a fic is good or not when there's a million gems that don't enough hits/kudos for whatever reason you're going to get a much better indication of quality and appeal from the tags and summary than you ever will from stats like that

my tinder date wants to know why you’re banned from tinder
Ask and ye shall receive!
Gather round, folks, and lend an ear as I tell you about Arnold.
No, he’s not a first date gone wrong, nor is he a scorned ex-lover who came up as a potential match. He isn’t a rival to whom I am bitterly attracted, and he isn’t an unrequited crush.
Arnold is my son.
He is also a rubber chicken.
Tumblr media
[image description: a white hand holds a blue rubber chicken against a white wall. The rubber chicken has a red beak, comb, wattles, and feet, as well as a gold collar that’s says “SQUEEZE ME!”]
Let me set the scene.
A couple years ago, on a cold night in late autumn, I went to a grocery store with some friends. We all separated to get what we needed.
I don’t remember if I actually got anything for myself in that trip, but I do remember wandering around, only to come across a giant bin of rubber chickens.
Immediately thinking of the vine where that person presses a bunch of rubber chickens (geese? some sort of fowl) to make a loud noise, I did the same thing, probably to the chagrin of fellow shoppers.
Some of my friends joined me in my shenanigans, and we left the store in a jolly mood.
Days later, one of my roommates, who was one of the friends from the first grocery trip, came back from another grocery trip with a gift for me.
It was a blue and red rubber chicken.
I looked on my new child with complete adoration and named him Arnold. I thanked my roommate with all my heart and left to plan the many hijinks I would get up to with Arnold. (He has admittedly been through a lot, but the wear and tear mostly comes from love.)
One day, i had the bright idea to make Arnold a Tinder account.
I did not give myself much time to consider the idea before diving in. Arnold had a photo shoot, and I uploaded as many photos as Tinder would allow for his profile. I believe I put his age somewhere in the 20s. I picked the option for any gender to match so as many people as possible would see him. According to what I put in his bio, he got the Covid vaccine, has a natural talent for singing, lives with his mom, and likes Kpop.
Then I published his account.
While matching with people amused me at first, keeping Arnold’s Tinder account active eventually became a chore. Every so often, Tinder would email me and say my his account would be hidden if I didn’t open the app and use it.
I swiped through people, and whenever i matched with people, i would just shoot them a simple “yo.” I tried not to carry on any conversations, though, because I myself was not interested in going on any dates. This was just to entertain me and maybe some other people who came across Arnold.
One day, I got an email saying Arnold’s account was reported and I was no longer welcome on Tinder. I assume someone reported Arnold bc he isn’t an actual person, so I was technically breaking the laws of Tinder or whatever. It was honestly a relief; no more swiping through profiles just to keep the account alive.
I still have Arnold, and I still love him. But you will never see him, or me, on a dating app again.
TL/DR: I made a Tinder Account for Arnold, my rubber chicken. It took over half a year, but Arnold’s account was eventually reported for not being a real person, and I was banned from Tinder.

unfortunately if i ever developed the lifeseries orv au in my head in earnest i would in no capacity whatsoever manage to be normal about it at all and like. i mean it
#like . genuinely. so much of orv deals with metafiction & the act of art literally coming to life through#reading/watching/observing it (schrodingers cat) (both dead and alive) (your gaze the determining factor) (a witness to existence)#& how characters turn into real people & vice versa & fiction intermingling with reality#and its that character bit that i am kinda obsessed with esp in mcyt spaces from a phenomenological standpoint#for example in smps where roleplaying elements are light and the characters the ccs are playing as#are much closer to themselves than they are actually characters#AND LIKEEEE THIS IS KIND OF ORVS ENTIRE DEAL REALLY#this act of being percieved and witnessed and characterized by yourself and others#the different social conventions between how we treat ppl as characters vs ppl as human beings#how every person is unto themself a story and how fiction is a tool used to preserve life#to resurrect the dead#to love someone with all your heart despite never actually truly ''knowing'' them#only having an imperfect reconstruction of their existence entirely based on your perception of them#how much of you is ''real'' versus ''fiction'' ? genuine versus persona?#does it matter?#and like. explodes. its so everything to me. its so everything. its not nornal. this is not a mormal way to engage with media#but there is a narrative mechanic that involvws cosmic twitch streaming as metaphor for the audience & performance & stage & storytelling#and i cant just NOT think about it in tandem with whatever it is i have going on here#you tell these stories to keep others alive... to keep yourself alive.. to stave off death...#like... this combined w the endless death game timeloop that is the life series is just#really... important to me... the watchers less as eldritch beings and more true to their metaphor as audience stand ins#greedily devouring the story because its all that we have left#this perpetual act of death and rebirth a preservation of life a celebration of their stories#somethign we cherish and champion and hold close.. something that allows all of us to live#for just a little bit longer#see i. i. yeah. not normal. not nornal at all

Are there any current films about the spiral of social media addiction in the way they did all those 90s movies about the spiral of heroin addiction
