Maybe I'm misunderstanding, but if male and female socilisation aren't universal why even call it that to begin with? read the reblog and while I agree with Skullamity on how having the social expectation of being a boy or girl can suck, why call it female socaliation if there's no one way to be female socialised?

my brothers, as I said in the previous post, were "socialised" the same as I was in one way (dresses, long hair) developed the same mannerisms, but "socialised" different from me in other ways. (me given the expectation of being stoic and adultified and "the man" tm)

. which one of us was actually socialised female, what is the point of calling it that? because I was treated very differently at home and at school, a freak at achool, and adultified man of the house at home. If that's the case, then I was both male and female socialised? what makes up this socialisation? what's the agreed upon parameters?

That was never actually answered, and where my questions lie. What makes socialation? what are the parameters? who decides this? because it feels like white, able bodied, christian i guess parameters(I know I've said this a bunch I just can't think of a better word),

Skullamity mentioned Knitting, is that a universal female thing? are boys who were raised to knit socialised female? is it based on personal belief? if there's no universal male/ female experience, if that's the case then why call it that in the first place? Like I said, I get were skullamity is coming from, I just guess we disagree on these words and how they're used? It's very binary in the way he explained it as well. anyway, what do you think?

It's socialization given to people expected to be fe/male based on AGAB.

A girl raised to knit is often raised to knit specifically because she's female and for that reason alone, it's expected of her to because of the sexual characteristics she exhibited at birth, so that is an example of female socialization

A boy raised to knit could be female socialized if his understanding of of his raising is that he was inducted into feminine gender roles to such an extent, but "a parent teaches their son to knit" is not what I would call female socialization on average.

The thing about receiving socialization in different ways in your childhood is that like, this is not something you put in your bio. No one is saying trans women need to start every sentence with "as a male socialized woman," these terms are inherently messy things for use in fairly high-level discussions of gender theory. Being treated [female] in some respects and expected to fulfil [male] gender roles in others, does not preclude the other, but they're still very tied to the specific genders with which the clichés are derived from and it's worth having a name for what's happening when an AFAB person is sat down at a sewing machine and told this is supposed to be their niche, or an AMAB person is disallowed from playing with "girl's toys."

Yess bathrooms are so weird and a big anxiaty trigger for me, not cus thre scary but cus there safe nobody can bother you in the it not socaly excepabal. So i get fucking stuck in them, like shit out side scary gess im gona sit her for like 3 howers

my bathroom is small, but I prefer smaller spaces, they feel lots safer than bigger ones, they're weird though, the echo, the total lack of comforts like cushions and teddies, it's weirdly like home without any home in it. I get stuck in them because my internal organs don't work properly lmao. but yeah they like dissociation.
