A long, creaking squeal sounds from Roan when you come home. Eddie plugs his ears, knowing exactly what it is you have in the huge plastic bag at your waist —Roan's special treats, as previously discussed, for being such a lovely girl lately. 

It might be a silly thing to treat her for, but she deserves toys before any amazing behaviour, and you have the extra money to buy them. Why shouldn't she get them? You and Eddie chatted some while you were at work that morning, trying to choose what toys to get. 

"I haven't bought her toys by myself since we first met, what if I pick something crappy?" you'd worried. 

Eddie gave it a little bit of thought, hand twined in the curling wire of the telephone, slouched as he usually does against the back wall of the shop. "Hey, she hasn't had any new dolls since Christmas. They'd go over nicely. Or she always likes a new dress. I'm sure you'll find something when you're there. You can get me something fun at the same time if you want." 

You'd laughed at his joke and, if the light in your eyes now is anything to go off of, managed to find some presents you're happy with.

"Naddy's Toy Emporium!?" Roan shouts, rocketing off of the couch where she'd been standing waiting for you. 

You've a nightly routine, hugging her when you come home like your life depends on it, but clearly Roan has decided the hug can wait. For once, Eddie's finished dinner before you're return, so he has a good seat on the couch to watch everything unfold. 

You let her grab the bag's sides but lift it a touch when she tries to take it. "Hey, they're for you, I promise, but let's come inside and put them on the table!" 

Roan squeals and knocks into Eddie's knees. He sits up and grabs her gently by the waist, hoisting her onto his lap. You sit on the couch cushion trampled flat by Roan's feet, pulling the play table where she likes to eat her snacks closer. 

"Are you doing the speech?" you ask Eddie, putting down the bag. 

He grins. "Ro," he begins, turning skewiff, her back to the couch to allow you both a great view of her face, "you've been a really good girl, lately. Do you know that? You've been eating all your dinner, no tantrums before school, and now you're even starting to help clean up around the house. So me and Y/N just want you to know how proud we are and how awesome we think you are." 

"And we think all this awesome deserves some presents because we love you," you say. "Do you want the smallest or the biggest one first?" 

There's lots of nice presents. You've stayed within the confines of the agreed budget, which is a feat for you (as you love to spoil her). There's five new barbies, one of which comes with a car, and the other a puppy dog. They have clothes, accessories, and an abundance of plastic he needs to cut away with scissors. His hand is welted red by the time he's through. 

You also bought her a glittery lip gloss to replace the one she lost a few weeks ago. The proof of it sparkles on your cheek and Eddie's, twin thank yous. 

You go quiet as Roan retreats to her satin princess tent, driving the pink corvette back and forth as she makes the barbies talk to one another. 

"You okay?" he asks. You'd been wearing this huge smile for the last twenty minutes and now it's gone, he hates it. "I've been thinking maybe you deserve something nice, too." 

You smile weakly. Okay, so you're not wanting anything. 

"Dinner should be ready soon." 

"Thanks, Eddie." 

He gives up. He's about as subtle as a feather boa and you love him that way, drifting down toward your arm, his face smashing into your shoulder. "What's wrong?" 

You put your head atop his. "Well, I'm just thinking." 

"I may not look like it, but I think too, occasionally. Share with me." 

You push his arm until he sits up and sinks down into his side instead. Eddie supposes you're allowed, even if usually he'd call it sexist or selfish. "I had a lot of fun picking those out today, and I kept thinking about the look on her face…"

Eddie hums to show he's listening. Kisses the top of your head 'cos he can. "Yeah?" 

"I just remembered being her age. Do you remember wanting something really badly? There was something so nice about getting to grab a kart and– and to just stand there debating which ones to get." 

Eddie toys with your pinky finger. "That's not everything, is it?" 

Your smile presses against his arm, a deep emotion in your voice that's hard to pin. "Watching her makes me remember. Being a kid, playing make believe. I'll never be that young ever again, and there's no way to go back. But I," —you take in a steadying breath— "don't mind. I love seeing her so happy." 

He intertwines your fingers between his, shorter and a little bit softer than his. He soaks in your presence for a moment, the smell of you, your tiny sounds, the secret you've shared with him. You're a mixture of sad and happy. He's not sure which one overpowers which, only that they're hitting you hard. 

"There's lots of cool shit that comes with being a parent. You know the best one?" he asks you, raising his eyebrows at you with a fondness lining his lips. 

"No?" 

"You can play games without anyone judging you. I know it's not the same as being a kid again, but it's close." 

"Yeah?" you ask, sitting up. "You'll come play too, right?" 

Eddie casts his gaze to his daughter where she chit chats on the floor. "Hey, Roanie? Can we come play with you?" 

Roan is almost as pleased as when she first laid eyes on her treasure trove of dolls.

so basically smth that becomes v notable looking through the in character tweets by zan regarding the other dream friends, is shes v competitive n has quite the ego abt herself:she can recognize n acknowledge others skills rly well but her conclusion is either "well im better (angry)" or "well im better (excited to beat them)", this gets taken to a new absurd when introducing adeleine, where she immediately starts talking abt how shes hiding behind her canvas like a child n therefore does not know ~the path of strength~ n can never beat a ~battle-hardened warrior like herself~, n then she proceeds to keep downplaying adeleine even when shes showing new skills n seems excited to fight her after noting ado n ribbon were dancing around like its showing her some kind of lesson.generally she seems to take anything she perceives as weak or cowardly rly personally

so i was thinking like.i feel theres smth to be said regarding her strength fixation? when you take her backstory of having attempted suicide at a young age into account? suicidal ppl often feel helpless n weak, specially when theyre again, v young, so i could def see this all started from her trying to cope w that through just becoming the strongest n most confident, specially when her role in the cult was hyness' choice, so hed likely be giving her a lot of positive attention from succeeding in combat, smth she seems to rly want (from one of her playable screens) bc she absolutely adores him n would consider his opinion n approval like holy words (kanji used in jp straight up implies she idolizes him n generally anything regarding her feelings on him is so extreme in the original text lol)

I was trying real hard to keep faithful to the feelings from the canon Sabo and Luffy reunion while also not having Ace being DEAD as the driving force of the thanks (the ASL brothers thanking each other is something that can be so personal—) and I'm, if nothing else, content with where it ended up. Nothing shows how much you love a character like giving them fucktons of piercings and just generally disregarding their canon design. anyway i beat the elden ring dlc a few days ago (started lvl 100 and eventually capped at 150 and 18 scadutree blessing by the end) and my final verdict is that its fucking incredible, i cant say its a 10/10 bc theres still some frankly inexcusable bullshit (5+ reused dragon fights including a new all time worst, final boss phase 2 performance impact, npc gank fight*) but literally everything else is fucking stellar. the map is one of the best designed world maps ive ever seen in a game and going through the individual segments really recaptured the feeling of opening up lordran for the first time in ds1. as for that thing everyones talking about - im sorry to use the SI words but to be blunt all the complaints about the dlc's difficulty have entirely been a skill issue lol. yes its hard but fromsoft dlcs are always hard and given how difficult elden ring already was what else were people expecting? the expansion literally gives you its own self contained leveling mechanic. use it.

yet more camera issues aside most of the new bosses are amazing - special shoutout to messmer, the dancing lion, bayle once i switched to a longer range weapon, metyr, and maybe midra. negative shoutouts to the golden hippo and commander gayass for their ds2 hitboxes but they are comically weak to fire and i was using the new anvil weapon on them so they died in like 10 hits lol. rellana was also fucking annoying but i have a feeling ill figure her out when i get to rl1. of course the elephant in the room is the final boss and my thoughts on him are uh. well i dont know. i love the first phase but dear god they really went overboard with the onscreen effects in phase 2 and i dont think he would even be half as difficult if you could actually see wtf hes doing. the hair does not help. lorewise no one would actually be confused why hes there if they actually did the npc quests but its a fromsoft game so admittedly i cant really blame people for missing those. but still. my final thoughts are that his design decisions are highly questionable but after beating him i got that good sense of accomplishment instead of "thank fuckign christ thats over" so thats a good sign. i dont feel like going into more plot stuff rn but i think it did a mostly (but not entirely) satisfactory job answering questions i had about the base games (very messy) story. prepare to see some really bad takes about miquella lol

anyway yeah its fantastic. literally the size of an entire souls game on its own. well worth the purchase. play it

Plus, if you’re big into maintaining your strength, that’s great! You can come along with him to work out! He’s something of a gym rat himself, so having someone along to encourage and be encouraged by is something he really values. Plus he can glare at anyone that’s checking you out. (He is very willing to yell at them. And it’s always German yelling. Effective, but at what cost?)

But if you’re just into sports, he’s gonna be your number-one fan. Like, legit, he’ll run fan pages. He would miss anything to support you at a game. You need a water boy? Please, please, let him be your waterboy.

Of course, he’ll always support German teams over your own, but he also thinks you personally should win instead. So it’s not a big deal.

He’s also very eager to show you off. He’s never had the… best taste in partners, so he’s very excited to finally have someone strong and kind to bring home! Plus, his entire family is also strong as hell, so maybe you guys can have a competition. Yes, he’s the only one that wants that, but it’s important to him, damnit! He’s gotta prove you’re the best one there

Overall, he loves his S/O no matter what, but your strength is one of his favourite things about you. He’ll be there for you when you’re weak, just as he’ll be there to admire you when you’re doing incredible things. He just loves… you.

4. When scared, does your OC fight, flee, freeze or fawn?

andrew: i think with him it very much depends on what the thing scaring him IS. if it's dangerous he's gonna flee. if it's scary because he can't understand it, he'd freeze if he's scared but someone he cares about is also under threat, he'd fight. that kinda thing

ace: he flees or fawns. every time. just depends. or like attempts to fawn, it doesnt work, so he flees. he's a wimp and a coward who only has his silver-tongue as a weapon, so. i think if it was really bad though, he'd freeze. because it's unlike him, he always has Something to react with. delicious

6. How easily could your OC be convinced to do something that goes against their moral compass?

andrew: it would be very hard. he's a Good Boy. something/one dear to him would have to be threatened because even if it was just him, he'd just take that bullet (or whatever it was) rather than do what they're trying to make him do though? if he has someone who he's wrapped around the finger of, it'd be a smidge easier. i mean julian had him ruining people's lives lowkey sometimes, but it was fine because he just didn't think about it and it made julian happy

so yeah it depends on WHO is trying to make him do it or just the situation in general but overall? id say its tough and requires specific requirements to be met, the most important being: if he does do this, it's not so black & white Bad. if it's black & white bad or good he's gonna dig his heels in the dirt harder

ace: just give him money. for real. he'll do almost anything for a certain price. otherwise, just threaten to kill him. he'll LITERALLY do anything then. he likes his life too much. however when he becomes close to andrew, all that becomes...less effective because he wants to do right BY andrew <3 or really anyone that managed to worm their way past all his walls and into his heart that's like..a generally good person

10. What's an AU that would be interesting to explore with your OC?

for ace hmmm...really just anything that puts him against the wall. really pushes him without quite breaking him. sooo i guess any AU that brings a lot more danger into the equation. because in any AU that's chill or pleasant the interest comes from him being a fucking Clown (both because he can be funny and because his interpersonal issues make a lot of melodrama)

but i personally love seeing how many pieces i can break him into until he stops trying to put himself back together. i don't want him to reach that point because that's boring, but i like pushing it. like i made him so happy and his life so perfect literally so i could ruin it in his...well initial canon universe...

17. What is the worst thing you have put your OC through story-wise?

andrew: hmmm...julian i guess typically. but moreso because i haven't officially plotted the zombie apocalypse story aka his canon. so i might come up with even worse (better) things to put him through :)

for both: there was one time in an AU where i had a demon possess ace and basically was intentionally trying to ruin his life (namely his relationship with andrew) and that was awful for both of them <3 (this was prior to cult au and probably lowkey inspired it i think)

ace: CANONLY...well in the supernatural/horror story i don't fully know yet because i'm still plotting but in cult au...i think the whole thing is probably the worst thing i've put him through for Now. he hides it but he's absolutely miserable and going Through It at all times. losing his self, his agency, and worse is everyone loves that for him

Y/n had recently been let go from her job as a makeup person on AEW. But lucky for her NXT was looking for a new makeup person for the girls and some of the guys for when special effects were needed. So she kept it a secret and made sure NO ONE would find out. The thing is being BFFs with your crushes girlfriend means you are around said crush All. THE. TIME. whenever there wasn't a backstage segment or a fight the 2 were always together. But luckily Nathan had been a lot busier recently due to being one half of the NXT men's tag team champions. But usually whenever he was around he would not have axiom his tag partner with him. Which was good because it kept your mind off of Nathan and helped you not feel like a third wheel as much. Now tonight you had a huge match you were facing Kalani Jordan for the NXT women's north American championship. You were nervous but also excited so you, thea, Sol, Nathan and axiom were all hanging out and you were warming up while talking with the others. "So do you feel ready for your match?" Axiom asked. "Yeah I'm nervous but I know kalani won't play dirty and I can trust she will be fair" she replied back "yeah you're gonna kill it I know you can do it!! " Thea said enthusiastically. First impression: "protagonist kinda buddy" i don't think ive ever had proper thoughts about him? beside that he's fun. I feel like he's one of these characters I came to truely appreciate after some years. I was like 16 when I watched zexal ? So he was just a protag to me, but now that I properly witness that oh my god he's 13 it changes everything.

Impression now: OMG HE'S SUCH A FUN GUY god i love his teen boy who clearly struggles but also wants to have fun mood. I particularly love his earlier immaturity. The way he can be soo prideful sometimes is so much fun and he just?? feels like such a genuine character?? He has his stupid moment, but also many heartfelt and understanding episodes where it shows he's not all that immature. Maybe I like zexal I more in that regard, it showed more yuma moment variety.

Favorite moment: the very, very early astral-yuma dynamic is incredible and they have so many just... fun moments. Especially the reverse psychology moment. That boy does NOT want to be told what to do (and it's so much fun).

Idea for a story: haven't had zexal fic/AU ideas in like. forever. (except for yagumo but he's special) but i still often ends up having sci-fi AU for him. cheesy space adventure stuff, mech stuff, exploring foreign planets.... i just think he works so nice in a weird and colorful distant space setting. The comical protagonist that gets very intense sometimes. Also in old school-y space suits.

Unpopular opinion: I legit don't like stories that force angst him too badly. Overall I am not a huge protagonist angst liker for more or less reasonable reasons, but Yuma has specific recurring elements in fanworks that I just don't like. By that I mean stuff that use don thousand only as an angst determinator for Yuma. MAYBE don thousand is one of the most beautiful and hot and impressive yugioh character to me and seeing him reduce to "make the hero sad" isn't very fun. And like overall main characters don't have to suffer to be interesting and antagonist aren't limited to their effect on the main character.

Favorite relationship: Yeah so i really like astral/yuma mostly because I love Astral (my autism alien!!!!!!) and his dynamic with Yuma is SO MUCH FUN and i don't really like this kind of "boy find a mysterious girl (it's usually a girl) and ends up sacrificing everything for her" type story but they truely manage to build up their bond. It doesn't come out of nowhere, it isn't a linear progress, it's not always perfect... And their affection at the end is so satisfying. I also love his dynamic with... pretty much anyone he is friend with. yuma-kotori besties is such a cute one. yuma-mihael also being friend and having this nerdier aspect in common. yuma-alito brainless moments. Like they're just so fun and cute to me.

Unrealistic headcanon cuz screw canon: ive always really enjoyed the headcanon that the parts of four all specialize in a different elemental magic and have a strong connection to their respective element. Theyre almost like elemental spirits, except that theyre...not spirits technically. Ive seen a couple fanfics exploring this and im IN LOVE with it!! So even though there is like little to no gameplay that uses this, and the manga only really explored red using fire and none of the others, i hc that these four are absolute masters of their respective element and basically live and breathe it

dofus is ending this july and its been on my mind this week. i know im annoying abt this series but idc and ill write an essay abt my thoughts about it if i want to. its been with me ever since i was 11, and i grew up reading it. in 4 months the final volume will be released and while im so excited to see the end, im not ready either. i can't imagine not being able to look forward for the next volume. ahhhh

anyways this isnt even about this. this isnt a revelation because the subtext has always been there but ive been thinking about it hard these past few days. dofus is about love. now yeah i know most krosmoz medias are at this point (even tot said that all of his stories are about love so im fundamentally right about this) but i think that its especially prelevent in dofus. yeah its silly and the series isnt meant to be taken 100% seriously most of the time, but its in those little serious moments that its very much made clear how it was, and always will be about love, most specifically love for your family. blood, adoptive, found family, it doesnt matter. the way arty and crail love each other so much, even if not related by blood. the way even though gou tries to go on, he knows his trauma about letting his family down will never leave him. the way jack sacrificed himself for lily. the way dodge accidently adopts ejipe. the way lethaline just wanted to belong to a group. the way vil feels remorse for putting his mentor (and father really) on his deathbed and that he knows he'll never be able to redeem himself. the way the group decides ''yeah were a family now'' even though they were all strangers trying to kill each others just a few months prior. you could argue that its the same in wakfu but truth is that wakfu's whole love subtext got so muddied with the whole demigod bullshit of season 3 that i kinda don't care about it right now. hell even the main villain, soft' orn, is about the effects a lack of love can have on an unwanted child.

anyway. growing up with it, growing up in a dysfunctional household..... idk. i think this series really helped me with my pain. the way the characters love, even amidst their flaws is just so special to me. like hey, i can be loved too, even if i have flaws. wow. thats fucking insane. i too can have friends. i too can have a family.
