Why did Felix never tell Adrien about the fact that Gabriel was Monarch?
Why didn’t he tell Adrien about the freaking elevator to his mothers Glass coffin?
Why did he never mention that they were both Sentimonsters?!
Like Felix, your whole plan in emotion was to betray Gabriel ANYWAY. Why would you bother keeping a promise to the jerk.
Better yet, WHY didn’t you go and free the kwami. For a guy hating the enslavement of your kind you sure as s*** seem cool leaving the kwami to suffer.

07-1 | PARANOIA AT ITS FINEST
m.list | prev | next
Tumblr media
“I can’t believe you’ve actually roped us into this.”
Caitlyn’s voice cut through the soft hum of chatter filling the orphanage’s main hall, carrying that distinct tone of exasperation she reserved for situations she swore she wouldn’t get involved in—but inevitably did anyway. Her arms were crossed, her stance one of feigned reluctance, but the way her gaze flickered to the children running past, the small, almost imperceptible twitch of her lips as one of them called out her name—it told a different story.
Adrien snorted beside her, nudging her side. “Oh, please. You say that like you’re not already attached to half these kids.”
Caitlyn scoffed, glancing away as if that would somehow disprove his statement. It didn’t.
It had been a week. A week since you first suggested volunteering here. A week since you first stepped into this building and felt something settle beneath your skin—something quiet, something wrong.
And yet—
Nothing.
There was nothing.
No alarms. No leads. No proof. No reason to feel this way.
Even after you snuck into the cave to tap into the Batcomputer—timing it precisely for when no one would be around, combed through records, permits, reports, and analyzed every file you could find that could tell you that this place wasn’t what it seemed—nothing. The orphanage was clean. The reports were routine. The funding sources checked out.
And that was what upset you the most.
It should have been a relief.
But it wasn’t.
Because you still couldn’t shake that feeling. That deep, gut-wrenching sensation that something was staring you in the face, something was waiting just beneath the surface, something was wrong.
Because you knew—you knew—you were missing something.
But what?
You stared across the room, watching the way the children moved, how the staff interacted with them, how everything seemed so perfect. Too perfect. The kind of perfect that made your stomach twist, that made something cold crawl up your spine because nothing in Gotham was ever truly perfect.
You crossed your arms, fingers digging into your sleeves, tension knotting itself between your ribs.
You could really use Tim’s smartness right now—
The thought barely formed before you crushed it.
No.
You weren’t going to burden him with this.
Things were still… complicated. You had distanced yourself for a reason. Bringing him into this would only drag up all the messy emotions you weren’t ready to deal with.
Maybe—maybe this really was just you overreacting.
Maybe you were seeing ghosts where there weren’t any.
Maybe that “vision” you saw was something made up in your head.
But that doesn’t explain why it was so vivid. Why it felt so raw, so real—
“You’re doing that thing again.”
Caitlyn’s voice pulled you back, and you blinked, finding both her and Adrien watching you with unreadable expressions.
“What thing?”
“You always get that look,” Adrien added, arms still crossed but his smirk growing. “Like you’re five seconds away from spiraling into an existential crisis.”
“I do not—”
“You do,” Caitlyn confirmed immediately. “You get all quiet, and your face does this thing where you look like you’re trying to solve the world’s biggest mystery when, in reality, you’re probably just making stuff up in your head.”
“I do not.”
Adrien huffed out a laugh. “Oh, yeah? Then what were you just thinking about?”
You opened your mouth, then promptly shut it, refusing to dignify that with an answer.
Caitlyn gave you a knowing look. “That’s what I thought.”
“Can we focus on something else?” You huffed, shifting your weight to one side. “Like the fact that you two are terrible influences?”
Adrien snorted. “You’re the one who dragged us into this.”
“You didn’t have to come,” you pointed out.
“You think we’d actually let you volunteer at an orphanage alone?” Caitlyn raised a brow. “Be real.”
You exhaled through your nose, resisting the urge to roll your eyes.
“You should be thanking us,” Adrien added smugly. “Especially since we’re the ones keeping you sane.”
“You call this sane?”
“Well,” Caitlyn starts, “you haven’t completely lost your mind yet, so I’d say we’re doing a decent job.”
Before you could respond, a familiar weight latched onto your side, small hands gripping onto the fabric of your sleeve.
Elliot.
You glanced down, only to be met with the boy’s wide, expectant gaze.
Elliot had latched onto you like a baby duck the second you stepped foot in this place again, and over the past few days, he had only gotten more attached. He followed you everywhere, immediately sought you out whenever you arrived, and if you so much as moved an inch away from him, he was quick to close the distance again.
And truth be told—you weren’t used to this.
This kind of closeness.
Not really.
Of course, you had experience closeness with Caitlyn and Adrien.
But Elliot—
Elliot was different.
Elliot didn’t hesitate.
Elliot didn’t keep his distance.
Elliot clung to you like you were something safe.
And you didn’t know how to handle that.
Not when you didn’t even feel safe with yourself.
“Aren’t you gonna play with us today, (Name)?” His voice was soft, hopeful, like he had already decided that whatever you answered, he wasn’t going to accept a no.
You hesitated, opening your mouth—only to stop when he gave you that look. The one you were slowly realizing was his greatest weapon. The one that made your defenses crumble.
The wide-eyed, unblinking stare.
The slight, pleading tilt of his head.
The tiniest wobble of his lower lip.
It was lethal.
And the worst part? He knew it.
“…Yeah,” you found yourself saying before you could even think about it. “Yeah, okay. Just give me a minute, okay?”
Elliot beamed.
If you had even an ounce less self-control, you might have visibly melted.
You watched as the boy ran off towards where the other kids were playing.
“Oh my god,” Caitlyn whispered dramatically.
“Precious,” Adrien added, looking between the two of you like he had just discovered his new favorite thing in the world.
“You two need to get a grip.”
“It’s cute,” Caitlyn commented. “You’ve basically adopted him at this point.”
“I have not.”
“You so have,” Adrien smirked. “It’s adorable.”
“You two seriously need hobbies.”
Caitlyn just grinned. “Says the person who dragged us here for no apparent reason.”
You opened your mouth to argue, to tell them it wasn’t for no reason, that there was something wrong with this place—
But then the air shifted.
The room didn’t go quiet, not really. The children were still playing, voices still carrying, footsteps still echoing against the floor. But something in the atmosphere changed, something subtle yet immediate, something that made the back of your neck prickle.
Something you felt more than saw.
A presence.
Mrs. Cole.
She entered the hall with a soft, pleasant smile, her hands clasped neatly in front of her, her posture calm, collected, perfect.
And yet—
Something in you immediately recoiled.
It had been this way from the beginning. The first time you met her. The first time she spoke to you. That deep, instinctive discomfort—the kind you couldn’t explain, the kind that settled beneath your skin and refused to leave.
And the worst part?
You were alone in that feeling.
Adrien and Caitlyn greeted her like normal, their smiles easy, their voices light. The other volunteers, the staff, the children—they all liked her.
But you—
You just stood there.
Watching.
Waiting.
And that gnawing feeling of unease only grew stronger.
Because something was wrong.
But you just couldn’t see it.
Mrs. Cole approached with the same composed, effortless grace she always carried—her steps measured, her smile gentle, the kind of expression that made it impossible to distrust her. She looked at ease, radiating a warmth that made people lean in instead of pull away.
But you didn’t lean in.
You were staring.
“Ah, there you all are.” Her voice was warm, measured, like honey drizzling over words that had been carefully chosen before she even spoke them. “I was just telling the staff how lucky we are to have such dedicated volunteers.”
Caitlyn beamed. “Well, it’s been great so far! The kids are all super sweet.”
You were watching.
Mrs. Cole’s reaction came exactly when it should. A gentle smile, an approving nod—textbook-perfect in a way that sent something unpleasant curling in your stomach.
“You’ve been wonderful with them,” she said smoothly. “They’ve taken quite a liking to all of you.”
A normal thing to say. A reasonable thing to say. And yet—
Something about it snagged in your brain, like a thread pulled too tight.
They’ve taken quite a liking to all of you.
Not “you’ve made a great impact on them.”
Not “they enjoy having you around.”
The wording was… off.
Why was it off?
You barely noticed Adrien chuckling beside you. “Well, Caitlyn’s the favorite, obviously. The girls follow her around like ducklings.”
Caitlyn nudged him. “Please. You’re the one they treat like a jungle gym.”
Mrs. Cole gave a small, polite laugh, like she was indulging their banter rather than truly engaging in it.
You noticed that.
You noticed everything.
You noticed how detached it felt, how it landed exactly where it needed to but carried no real weight.
The way her shoulders never fully relaxed, despite her friendly demeanor. The way her eyes lingered just a second too long before moving on. The way her responses never carried the slight unpredictability that came with casual conversation—everything was too smooth, too well-placed.
You noticed that.
And then—her eyes flicked to you.
There was no shift in expression, no telltale sign that she had noticed you just staring, analyzing every micro-movement, every carefully placed word. But the second her eyes met yours, you felt something in you go rigid, your body instinctively preparing to mask whatever she might have caught.
Which, ironically, felt unnatural.
Because you couldn’t let her see that you were suspicious of her.
“And you,” she said, the warmth in her tone undisturbed, like she hadn’t just caught you in the act of scrutinizing her. “Elliot seems especially fond of you. It’s lovely to see how much he trusts you already.”
You ignored the way Caitlyn and Adrien both smiled knowingly at the mention of Elliot’s attachment to you.
You knew you should say something pleasant. Something easy. Something neutral. Something normal.
Instead, the words that came out were flat, toneless.
“Yeah. He’s a good kid.”
An awkward pause.
Too short to be obvious, too long to go completely unnoticed.
Caitlyn’s smile faltered slightly. Adrien shifted beside you, like he could feel the weird tension in the air but wasn’t sure if he should acknowledge it.
And Mrs. Cole?
She didn’t even blink.
She absorbed the bluntness of your answer like it didn’t affect her at all, her expression remaining perfectly composed, perfectly pleasant, as if she hadn’t just been met with a wall.
“That he is,” she agreed, gracefully moving past it, as though she hadn’t just walked into a conversational dead end. “Well, I won’t keep you from the children. Thank you again for all your help.”
She excused herself with the same quiet ease she always carried, stepping away to tend to the other kids.
The second she was out of earshot—
Adrien whirled on you. “Okay, what the hell was that?”
Caitlyn groaned. “God, could you have been any drier? That was painful.”
You exhaled sharply. “I answered her, didn’t I?”
“You barely did,” Adrien shot back. “You sounded like someone forced you to acknowledge Elliot at gunpoint.”
Caitlyn smacked your arm lightly. “Dude, what’s your deal with her?”
You crossed your arms. “It’s nothing.”
“That’s definitely not nothing,” Adrien shot back. “You’ve been like this since day one. What is your deal with her?”
You opened your mouth—then closed it.
How were you supposed to explain this?
What were you supposed to say?
That something about her felt wrong, but you couldn’t prove it? That every interaction with her left you feeling like you had just missed something? That her presence made you instinctively wary in a way you couldn’t rationalize?
That no matter how hard you looked, you still couldn’t find anything to justify it?
“…I just don’t like her,” you muttered.
Adrien scoffed. “Yeah, no shit.”
Caitlyn and Adrien weren’t going to let this go.
You knew it from the second Caitlyn narrowed her eyes at you, that sharp stare she always gave when she smelled something off—when she knew someone wasn’t telling the full story. Her arms were crossed, her weight shifted slightly onto one foot, but there was a tension there, like she was waiting.
Adrien was the same. Standing beside her, his arms folded, his brow raised in quiet expectation. He wasn’t impatient—not yet—but he was watching you, like he was giving you the chance to explain yourself before he dragged it out of you.
You didn’t give them anything.
Adrien broke the silence first. “Okay, seriously. What is your problem with her?”
“I don’t have a problem with her,” you replied immediately.
Too fast. Too sharp.
Adrien scoffed. “Right. You just happen to tense up like a goddamn statue every time she’s around.”
Caitlyn gave a dramatic huff. “You act like she personally wronged you in another life. Or murdered your dogs or something.”
“Titus and Ace are fine…” you muttered.
“Exactly!” she said, exasperated. “That’s what makes this so weird! There’s no reason for you to act like this!”
You didn’t respond.
But Adrien wasn’t done. “Look, if she said something to you, if she did something—”
“She didn’t.”
“Then why are you acting like this?”
“I’m not acting like anything.”
Another lie.
But you said it so smoothly, so effortlessly, that it almost sounded convincing.
Almost.
Caitlyn’s eyes flicked over your face, sharp and discerning, scanning every microexpression, every flicker of something that might betray you. Adrien wasn’t even trying to be subtle about his suspicion anymore.
Yet, you still didn’t give them anything.
You were stubborn. Tight-lipped. Unyielding.
Because you couldn’t tell them.
Not yet.
Not when you still didn’t know what was wrong.
So instead, you acted.
Acted like everything was fine.
Like you weren’t uneasy.
Like you weren’t drowning in the feeling that something was slipping through your fingers.
Your gaze drifted past them—toward Mrs. Cole.
She was across the room, surrounded by children, laughing at something one of them had said. She knelt slightly, leveling herself to their height, hands gentle as she adjusted the collar of one child’s shirt. She was warm, present, soft-spoken—exactly what a warden of an orphanage should be.
And yet—
You couldn’t shake it.
That feeling.
That deep, gnawing unease that clung to your ribs like a second skin.
You watched her closely. The way she spoke, the way she smiled, the way her hands moved as she patted a child’s head. Everything was measured. Natural.
But was it?
Or was it too natural?
Too perfect?
Her movements were fluid, seamless, her expressions genuine. Nothing about her demeanor was off. Nothing about her gave you any reason—any reason at all—to feel this way.
And that was what unsettled you the most.
Because there had to be something.
There had to be a reason.
You just couldn’t see it.
Tumblr media
Gotham was shifting.
Bruce could feel it.
It wasn’t something obvious—no, this was something far more subtle. A change beneath the surface, insidious and creeping. It was the kind of shift that haunted the shadows, leaving behind nothing but the unsettling sense that something was on the brink of happening. Bruce had learned to trust that feeling, that gnawing instinct that had saved Gotham more times than he could count. And right now, it was telling him that something was very, very wrong.
Another murder. A woman in her early twenties, found in a dark alley just outside a prestigious club.
Bruce sat at the Batcomputer, his fingers hovering over the keys, eyes tracing the same reports for the hundredth time.
This was the third this month.
There was nothing connecting the three victims, other than the fact that they were all young Gotham socialites.
But there was something else.
The way they were murdered. Stabbed and slashed. And the slashes—those markings—they were unmistakable.
They all had markings from a Talon. Meaning—
The Court of Owls.
Gotham was shifting, sliding beneath the surface like a shadow.
And he knew that feeling.
He had felt it before.
It wasn’t paranoia. It was an instinct.
An instinct he’d developed after all these years, after all the lies and manipulation, after the near-destruction of Gotham.
He couldn’t afford to let it happen again.
The last time the Court of Owls made their presence known, it was a brutal awakening.
The Court had been quiet for months since then. But the stillness only made him more wary. He knew how they worked—silent, methodical, waiting for the perfect moment to strike. And now, with another death on his hands, he couldn’t shake the feeling that the Court was making its move again.
And then, as if Gotham’s problems weren’t enough, another report came through. The Riddler had escaped Arkham. Again.
It had barely been two weeks since Riddler’s last stunt. Arkham had barely contained him long enough to let the city breathe before he escaped again.
Bruce could feel the weight of both issues pressing down on him, the combination of old ghosts and new ones tangled together in a knot that was suffocating.
He rubbed his temples, trying to block out the noise, the weight of it all. Gotham was shifting, and every move it made felt like it was slipping further out of his control.
And Bruce had no doubt—Nygma had already set the board.
His fingers moved across the keyboard, cycling through city surveillance, tracking movements, patterns, anything that might give him a lead. There was always a pattern with Riddler. Always a thread to follow. But right now, with the Court making their move from the shadows, Gotham couldn’t afford another high-profile attack.
He needed to tackle this immediately.
He rubbed a hand over his face, then ran it through his hair. It was too much. Too many pieces of the puzzle scattered in front of him, too many possibilities. But there was no time.
His gaze focused on the web of information splayed across the massive screen—patterns, reports, whispers of activity. Pieces that didn’t quite fit yet, but he could see the shape they were forming.
Behind him, Dick leaned against the table, arms crossed, expression unreadable. He was here. He was listening. He was doing everything Bruce had asked of him.
But Bruce could tell.
He was distracted.
Not in a way that was obvious. Not in a way that would compromise the mission. But it was there.
A slight delay in his responses. The way his gaze lingered on nothing for a second too long. The tension in his posture—not the kind that came from exhaustion, but from something else.
Bruce had seen it before.
But this time, he didn’t know what was causing it.
Not exactly.
He’d been watching him for days now, and every time they spoke, it felt like Dick wasn’t really there. His focus was on the case, sure, but it wasn’t complete. There was something else pulling at him. Bruce had tried to push it aside—he couldn’t afford to get distracted by personal issues, not with Gotham at risk—but it was hard to ignore. Dick wasn’t just distracted. He was withdrawn. And Bruce had seen that behaviour before. He knew that behaviour.
It was the way Dick stood, his arms crossed, his jaw clenched, his eyes never fully meeting Bruce’s. It was the way he moved through the cave like he was running on autopilot. Like he wasn’t really present. Like he was fighting something inside of him. And the longer Bruce let it go unspoken, the more it gnawed at him. Because Bruce knew Dick better than anyone. He knew when something was eating at him. And he couldn’t let it fester.
Not now.
“What’s on your mind?”
Dick blinked, looking up from where he had been staring at the ground. “What?”
Bruce glanced at him. “You’re distracted.”
Dick huffed out a breath, running a hand through his hair. “I’m not distracted.”
Bruce didn’t say anything. Just watched him.
“Okay, maybe I’m a little distracted.”
Bruce didn’t push. He just waited.
For a second, it seemed like Dick wasn’t going to say anything else. His mouth pressed into a thin line, and Bruce saw the muscles in his jaw tighten. It was that familiar look—the one Dick wore when he was trying to hold something back. Bruce could see it now. The weight he was carrying, the quiet frustration. He could see it, feel it, radiating off of him in waves. He shifted, arms tightening around himself. Then, finally—
“It’s (Name).”
Bruce’s shoulders tensed.
Of course.
He had heard bits from Alfred. How you were avoiding Dick, the way he had been silently carrying the weight of your distance. The way you hadn’t been talking to Dick the way you used to.
Bruce could feel it too.
Alfred had asked him to check on you. It shouldn’t have been that hard. Except, for some reason, he could never find a moment with you.
Not really.
Had it always been this hard?
No. That wasn’t right. He would’ve noticed if it had been.
Wouldn’t he?
But now Bruce was thinking, really thinking.
The last few weeks. The subtle shifts in your behavior, the way you had started slipping through the cracks before he could catch you. The way Alfred had gently suggested—more than once—that he should talk to you. The way you never seemed to be in the same room as him anymore.
The way he couldn’t remember the last time you had really spoken to him.
Not since you decided to quit being Batgirl.
Ah.
Was that what this was about?
Him letting you quit?
He had given you space because that was what he always did—he never pried, never pushed, never asked for more than you were willing to give.
But what if that was the problem.
What if he had let you drift too far?
His fingers curled against the edge of the desk, a slow, controlled movement. He hadn’t wanted to think about it before. Hadn’t wanted to believe it. Because the idea of you avoiding him—
It wasn’t possible.
Was it?
Bruce’s throat felt tight, and he didn’t understand why.
Dick exhaled sharply beside him, running a hand through his hair. “She barely looks at me anymore.” His voice was quiet, resigned. “But you already knew that.”
Bruce swallowed.
No. He hadn’t. Not really.
But if he admitted that you were avoiding Dick, then he’d have to admit that you were avoiding him too.
And he couldn’t accept that.
He wouldn’t.
He wasn’t sure why the thought unsettled him as much as it did. People had walked away from him before—people he had cared about, people who had once looked at him the way you used to. And he had let them go, because that was what he did. He didn’t hold onto things that weren’t his to keep.
But this was different.
Because it was you.
You. His daughter.
His flesh.
His blood.
Bruce exhaled slowly, letting the silence stretch between him and Dick. He wanted to ask—wanted to know just how far this distance had spread—but he wasn’t sure he was ready for the answer.
Dick, however, wasn’t finished.
“I don’t even blame her,” he admitted, his voice quiet, restrained, like he had already gone over this a thousand times in his head. Maybe he had. “She has every right to be pissed at me. I just—” His voice faltered for a second before he exhaled sharply, shaking his head. “It’s different now. She doesn’t look at me the same way. I don’t think she ever will again.”
Bruce studied him carefully. He could see it—the guilt, the regret that had been eating at him.
But what unsettled Bruce the most wasn’t Dick’s regret. It was the realization that he had assumed this was only about Dick.
That it had never once occurred to him that you were avoiding him too.
The thought lodged itself in his chest like a shard of glass. A slow, cutting thing that he couldn’t pull free.
No. That wasn’t—
You weren’t avoiding him.
You wouldn’t.
Would you?
If it was true, if you were avoiding him, it was just—just a misunderstanding. Just—
His jaw tightened.
This wasn’t supposed to happen.
Not with you.
Of all the people he had failed, of all the people who had ever walked away from him, you were the one person he thought would never do that.
But had you?
Had you already left, and he just hadn’t noticed?
Tumblr media
Bruce didn’t react. Not immediately, at least.
But Dick saw it.
The shift. The way Bruce’s shoulders tensed just slightly, the tightening of his grip against the edge of the console, the way his jaw locked. To most people, it would’ve looked like nothing. Just another one of Bruce Wayne’s unreadable silences. But Dick had spent too many years watching, reading between the lines, noticing the things that no one else did.
Bruce’s silence was never empty. It was full. Full of things he didn’t say, things he wouldn’t say.
And right now?
Right now, Bruce wasn’t just listening. He was realising something.
Dick exhaled sharply, dragging a hand through his hair.
“Yeah,” he muttered. “That’s what I thought.”
He hadn’t meant to bring you up—not like this, not here. But Bruce had called him distracted, and, well… he wasn’t wrong.
You had been stuck in his head for days. Weeks.
Every unanswered call. Every delayed text. Every excuse you made to get away from him as soon as possible.
Dick had tried. God, he had tried.
That lunch a few days ago—he had been hopeful, maybe even stupidly so, thinking that things could be… normal. That he could talk to you without feeling like there was a wall between you both, that you wouldn’t keep him at arm’s length.
But the moment you saw him, you were already looking for an exit.
You barely stayed long enough to eat. Said you were busy. That you had somewhere to be.
And Dick had let you go.
What else could he have done?
You had every right to do this. To be mad, to resent him, to ignore him, to pretend like he didn’t exist.
He deserved it.
Especially after what he did.
Especially after what he’s been doing for years now.
It’s not like he didn’t understand your anger towards him. He did.
He knew what it was like to feel replaced, he experienced it first-hand. He should have understood what he was doing the moment he benched you. He should have known how it’d feel like to you.
He should have handled it better. Especially since he knew at the time, you were still grieving.
But that didn’t mean it didn’t hurt. That this didn’t hurt.
But… this wasn’t just about him benching you, was it?
No.
This wasn’t the first time he made you feel like this, was it?
This wasn’t the first time he’s made you feel like you didn’t belong.
Like you were something temporary—something easily set aside.
Maybe that was the worst part.
How long had it been like this?
How long had he been like this?
He swallowed hard, staring blankly at the Batcomputer screen, but his mind was already somewhere else.
Tumblr media
The first time he saw you, you were a baby.
He hadn’t even really processed it at the time.
Everything had been a blur—his parents were dead, his life had been turned upside down, and now he was in some massive, unfamiliar mansion with a man he barely knew and a butler who spoke to him with a kind of patience he didn’t know how to handle.
And then there was you.
You’d been brought to the manor not long after he had arrived.
A tiny thing, barely able to walk on your own.
He remembered that moment, the moment Alfred brought you into the manor. That moment burned into his memory in a way he never really questioned before. Maybe because it had been one of the only stable things in those early days, when the ground had been ripped out from under him and his life had been shattered beyond repair.
He hadn’t thought much about you at first.
He hadn’t thought much about anything except the overwhelming, gut-wrenching anger that had settled in his chest, the grief that was still raw and sharp, the sheer, desperate need for revenge that burned beneath his skin.
So he ignored you.
Or at least, he tried to.
Because you didn’t ignore him.
It didn’t matter.
It shouldn’t matter.
But time had a way of changing things.
Little by little, your presence became something else.
He didn’t know when it started. When you stopped being a stranger and started being—
Well.
You were way younger than him, but that never stopped you from being stubborn, from trying to talk to him, from wanting him to be happy. And maybe that was what got to him the most.
That innocence. That kindness.
You just wanted him to smile.
And, somehow, eventually, he did.
He hadn’t known how to deal with you.
You weren’t annoying, exactly.
You were just—
There.
Soft and small and persistent, constantly hovering on the edges of his grief, constantly reminding him that there was still something else in this house besides darkness and vengeance.
He didn’t know what to do with that.
Because somewhere along the way, things changed.
He wasn’t sure when.
Maybe it was the first time you climbed onto the couch beside him and fell asleep against his arm like it was the most natural thing in the world.
Maybe it was the first time you grabbed his hand and pulled him outside, insisting that he chase you around the garden, that he play with you, that he let himself just be a kid, if only for a little while.
Maybe it was the first time you hugged him, your tiny arms wrapping around his waist, telling him that you loved him in the simple, easy way that only children could.
Whatever it was, it had stuck.
You had become his family.
His little sister.
His responsibility.
Dick didn’t know how much of who he is today had been shaped by you, but it was more than he’d ever admit.
And maybe that was why he wanted to keep you away from the truth for so long.
From the pain, from the violence, from the endless cycle of grief and vengeance that had become his life.
He didn’t want to ruin that part of you.
Didn’t want you to know about the things he did at night. Didn’t want you to see the kind of world he and Bruce lived in.
So he never told you about Robin.
Not at first.
Not for a long time.
Not when he went on to build a new name for himself.
Not when he left Gotham and became Nightwing.
You didn’t need to know.
You weren’t supposed to know.
You were supposed to have a normal life. A safe life. One that wasn’t filled with violence and blood and pain.
That was what Bruce had wanted for you.
That was what he had wanted for you.
That was why he hadn’t told you.
And maybe—maybe, that had been a mistake.
Because when you had found out that day—
When Tim sought him out, asking him to be Robin again. When he had come to Dick with that relentless, unwavering certainty that he needed to be Robin again. That Batman needed a partner. That Gotham needed balance.
After Jason’s death had fractured something irreparably in Bruce, in Alfed, in you, in him—
God, Jason’s death.
The guilt gnawed at him, relentless, insidious, something he never let himself think about too long.
Because Jason had died wearing his colors.
Jason had died playing the role Dick had walked away from.
Being Robin. And being your brother.
Jason had died, and Dick hadn’t even been there.
Not for Bruce, not for Alfred, and not for you.
Dick hadn’t been there to stop him from taking on the job, he had not been there to stop him from going to Ethiopia, hadn’t been there to—
He just wasn’t there.
And you—
You didn’t even know the true cause of Jason’s death.
You had to find out the truth about Jason’s death—
The truth about the lives he and Bruce led—
From some random kid who somehow knew the truth before you did.
Instead of hearing it from him. From Bruce.
God.
He still remembers the way you looked at him on the day you found out the truth.
The moment you stepped into the cave that Bruce had hid from you for years.
Your arms crossed tightly over your chest, your expression unreadable—except for your eyes.
Your eyes were always so damn expressive.
And that day, they had been filled with something that made his stomach twist uncomfortably.
Betrayal.
Dick could feel Tim watching from across the cave.
He wasn’t saying anything—wasn’t even moving—but he was there, standing next to Alfred at the bottom of the stairs, barely in the shadows.
Dick almost felt sorry for the boy, for having to witness some family drama he wasn’t apart of unravel before him. But then again, he walked himself into this the moment he went to find him.
“…How long?”
Your voice was steady. Controlled.
But he knew you. Did he?
Knew how your hands clenched subtly at your sides when you were trying to keep yourself from shaking.
Knew how you bit the inside of your cheek when you were trying not to cry.
You were trying not to cry.
And it’s all his fault.
“…How long have you been lying to me?”
He didn’t know how to answer that.
Didn’t know how to explain that he had never wanted you to find out like this.
Didn’t know how to justify the years of secrecy, the years of letting you believe he was just your older brother, just the normal, easygoing Dick Grayson who had left Gotham to make a life for himself aside from being Bruce Wayne’s ward.
The years of letting you believe that he didn’t hide anything from you.
But the silence stretched too long.
And that was an answer itself.
You exhaled sharply, shaking your head.
“You were Robin.” you said, and it wasn’t a question.
It was a fact.
A truth you had just put together, piece by piece, and now it was unraveling everything you thought you knew.
Dick swallowed.
“…Yeah.”
You blinked, staring at him like you didn’t recognize him.
Like you weren’t sure if you ever had.
“Our father is Batman.”
“Yes… he is.”
“And Jason?”
Dick’s breath caught.
He looked away.
But that was answer enough, too.
Your expression twisted, something like realization dawning on your face.
“That’s why—”
You cut yourself off, exhaling sharply.
“That’s why he died? He died because he was Robin too..?”
The words hit him like a gut punch.
Dick could barely breathe.
You were staring at him, waiting for an answer, but he didn’t have one that wouldn’t make this worse.
Jason.
Jason, who had died in his colors. Jason, who had been Robin because Dick had left. Jason, who had never gotten the chance to grow up, to get out, to become something more than just a ghost haunting all of them.
Jason, who you had mourned, who you had cried for, who you had spent weeks asking Bruce about only to get nothing in return.
And now you knew the truth.
You knew everything.
And Dick felt sick.
“I—” His throat was tight. Dry. He forced himself to swallow. “It wasn’t—”
But you had already taken a step back.
Away from him. And for some reason, that single step had hurt more than any punch he’d ever taken.
“How could you not tell me?” you asked, voice sharp with something between betrayal and disbelief. “How could you just—just let me think—” You exhaled, shaking your head, hands clenched into fists. “I grieved him, Dick. I stood at his grave, wondering how he could just die like that, and you—” Your voice broke. “You knew. You knew the whole time.”
Dick winced. He wanted to reach for you. To fix this. To explain.
But what was there to explain?
That he hadn’t wanted you to know? That he had convinced himself that if you never found out, you’d be safe?
That it hadn’t mattered, because Jason was dead either way?
That was worse, wasn’t it?
So he stayed quiet.
And that silence was answer enough.
You let out a shaky breath, your expression twisting. “So that’s why you were always busy, huh? Because you were Robin. Because you’re Nightwing now. You always had something to do. Something more important.”
Dick’s hands curled into fists at his sides. “I was—”
“You were lying,” you cut him off, and Tim could see the way that made Dick flinch. “You were always lying, weren’t you?”
“I didn’t want you to get involved in this life,” Dick forced out, his voice tight, defensive in a way he hated. “I couldn’t let you—”
“Oh, right, because lying to me was so much better,” you snapped. “Keeping me in the dark was so much better—”
“I was protecting you!” Dick snapped back, his voice louder now, sharper than he meant it to be.
It echoed through the Batcave.
Tim flinched slightly in his peripheral vision.
Alfred didn’t move.
You let out a bitter laugh, something short and humorless. “Protecting me?” you echoed. “Jason is dead, Dick. And you want to talk about protection?”
Dick clenched his jaw.
You weren’t wrong.
And maybe that was the worst part.
“Why?” You took a step forward. “Why, Dick? Why wouldn’t you tell me? I thought—I thought maybe, maybe, if you didn’t have time for me anymore, the least you would do is not lie to me. That you wouldn’t keep something this huge from me.”
Dick’s mouth opened, but no sound came out.
That was what did it. That was what ruined him.
He had nothing to say, because you were right.
“I just wanted to protect you,” Dick finally said, and it was almost desperate, like he was trying to hold together something that had already cracked beyond repair.
“And you thought lying was the way to do that?” Your voice was shaking now. “You—you let me believe you just didn’t care anymore. I was so naive that you could just continue to lie to me for years, isn’t that why?”
“That’s not true,” Dick said quickly, stepping forward, but you stepped back just as fast.
You inhaled sharply. “I just want to hear you say it.”
Dick stilled.
You swallowed. “Tell me that you didn’t want to keep it from me. Tell me that it was Dad. Tell me this wasn’t your choice.”
Dick clenched his jaw.
And for a second—a brief, terrible second—you saw it.
The truth.
The answer before he even said it.
His shoulders squared, his expression unreadable, and then—
“I didn’t want you to know.”
The words hit like a punch to the gut.
You took a step back, blinking.
“What?”
Dick’s face was set, his voice firm. “Bruce told me not to tell you, but I didn’t want you to know either.”
You stared at him, uncomprehending.
“You—” You swallowed hard, your throat burning. “You didn’t want me to know?”
The betrayal was sharp, almost dizzying.
Dick flinched.
“I had to find out from him,” you suddenly snapped, pointing directly at Tim, who stiffened, eyes going wide.
“I had to find out from some random kid that has nothing to do with this—”
Tim opened his mouth. “Uh—”
“And not from you—my brother..!”
“This isn’t how you were supposed to find out,” Dick said quickly, his voice barely above a whisper.
“Yeah?” You let out a short, humorless laugh. “Well, then how exactly was I supposed to find out then? Were you even planning on telling me the truth?”
“(Name)—”
“Or were you going to keep this from me ‘til the day I die?”
Dick took a step closer. “Please, just listen—”
“No,” you cut him off, shaking your head. “I can’t do this.”
Dick froze.
You exhaled sharply, turning on your heel and heading for the exit.
“Wait—”
But you were already gone.
Tim hesitated, looking between the empty space where you had been and the absolute wreck that was Dick Grayson standing there, unmoving, like if he did, he might actually collapse under the weight of the argument that had just happened.
The silence stretched.
And then Alfred stepped forward.
“Master Bruce is still pursuing Two-Face,” he said evenly. “I will go check on Ms (Name).”
Dick exhaled slowly, rubbing his face.
Right.
There were more pressing matters.
And they weren’t going to wait.
Tumblr media
Dick doesn’t even know what happened after that. You two just… avoided each other.
Avoidance wasn’t new between you two, but that time, it felt different. Alfred had told him you weren’t just avoiding him—you were avoiding everyone. That should’ve made him feel better, knowing he wasn’t the only one left out in the cold. Instead, it only made the weight in his chest heavier.
For a while, he didn’t know how to fix things. Didn’t even know where to start.
Maybe that was the problem.
Then and now.
It had always been you who stepped up first, the one who reached out, patched things up, and smoothed over the cracks in whatever had fractured between you. Even back then, after weeks of avoiding him, it was you who sought him out first—apologizing for your outburst, telling him you wanted to be Batgirl.
He hadn’t been happy about it.
Of course, he hadn’t.
The last thing he wanted was for you to get pulled into this life, the same way he had, the same Jason had. But at the same time… he didn’t want you to think he didn’t trust you. Because he did.
Didn’t he?
Maybe he should’ve helped more. Trained you. Guided you the way Bruce had done for him, the way he had done for Tim. But things had been complicated—Bludhaven was drowning in corruption, Blockbuster was tightening his grip on the city, and Dick had been stretched too thin to be what you needed.
Maybe that was why things had always felt strained between you.
Why things always felt off with you and him.
He hadn’t been there for you—not the way he had been for Tim, who had started out at the same time you did. And now, he couldn’t stop himself from wondering: Was it because Tim was Robin while you were Batgirl? Was it some misplaced instinct, some part of him that thought Barbara could help you better just because she had worn the mantle first?
Or was it just him? His failure?
Dick has many regrets.
And you—you are one of them.
Not because of who you are, but because of how he handled you.
Or rather, how he didn’t.
How he stood by and watched, too consumed by his own battles, by his own pain, to see you needing him. How he told himself it was okay, that you were strong enough to handle it alone.
And maybe you were. But that doesn’t excuse him from not being there when you needed him most.
And now, for the first time, you aren’t the one bridging the gap between you.
And he hates that he’s only realising this now.
He could have fixed this—maybe. If only he’d made the effort sooner. If only he’d found the courage to do something. To make up for what he failed to do. But now, everything feels too fractured, too far gone.
And that’s what hurts the most.
The fact that you don’t seem to need him the way you once did. That maybe, just maybe, you’ve moved on from him.
The thought suffocates him.
He wants to fix it. He wants to scream at the walls, to do something to make it right, but he’s frozen. Because what if it’s too late? What if you’re done with him? What if you’ve already written him off, already decided you don’t need him in your life anymore?
The overwhelming guilt twists tighter, leaving him suffocated, alone in his own mind.
You’ve stopped waiting for him.
And it kills him.
Dick knows he’s running out of time. And for the first time in his life, he doesn’t know what to do. He doesn’t know how to fix it.
Not when you were avoiding him. Not when everyone he’s asked tells him to give you space, to leave you alone.
But how long more can he continue leaving you alone? When that was the exact reason you two were in this position?
His instincts tell him to give you time, let you breathe, to let the air clear before trying again. But that voice in the back of his mind screams that it’s too late. That if he waits too long, if he doesn’t move now, this—this—will be the end of whatever was left of your connection.
And the thought terrifies him.
He’s not sure if it’s pride or fear that holds him back now. Maybe a mix of both. Because even if he did try, what if you didn’t want him as your brother anymore? What if you didn’t need him in the way he still needed you?
What if the space you wanted from him was one he could never fill again?
What if it’s too late?
The coldness in the way you’ve pulled away, the way you’ve stopped needing him… he’s afraid that’s the reality.
And maybe that’s the hardest pill to swallow: that he’s powerless here. That even with all the skills, all the experience he’s had, this is one thing he can’t control.
This feels wrong. It feels so wrong, and he can’t shake the feeling that something is slipping through his fingers, something irreplaceable. You’re not just anyone. You’re his sister.
You are his little sister. And that’s why this hurts so much more.
The space between you isn’t just the distance of an argument, or a fight that can be fixed with a few words. It’s a gap between family—between two people who were supposed to always be there for each other, no matter what. And somehow, he let it slip away. He let it stretch farther and farther, until now, when it feels like he can’t reach you.
He hates this.
He hates feeling lost, unsure of how to fix something that should be simple. He’s always known what to do, always known how to make things right with his team, with anyone—everyone—but not with you.
Not now.
The years of you looking up to him, trusting him, believing in him… and now, you’re turning away. And it’s because of him. Because he wasn’t there when you needed him, and because now, when everything has broken, he’s just letting you walk away.
His thoughts spiral, each one heavier than the last. He should’ve done better. He should’ve noticed the small things—the moments where you tried, where you reached out, when you needed him to show up. He should’ve noticed everything.
But he didn’t.
It feels like too much to fix now. How can he bridge this gap? How can he even begin to make things right when you’re already gone from him, retreating, pulling away from the only person who was supposed to be there for you through everything?
How can he let you go?
He can’t. He just can’t.
Because you’re his sister. And no matter what’s happened, no matter how much space you need, he can’t just let this be. He can’t let you slip away from him, not when he still loves you so damn much, not when he’s still your brother.
Dick hates that even now, it feels like he’s still not prioritizing you. Not when Gotham is on the verge of chaos, when everything is unraveling faster than he can keep up with.
Bruce needs him—Gotham needs him. And he hates himself for thinking this, but it almost feels easier to focus on the city, on the madness, on the constant fight to keep everything from falling apart, than to face what’s happening with you. He hates that he can’t just put his focus on you without it feeling like he’s failing the entire city.
Not when the Court of Owls is seemingly starting to creep back into the shadows, when they’re pulling strings from behind the scenes. Not when Riddler is out again after his bombing less than two weeks ago. The city feels like it’s shifting into new, terrifying territories, with danger lurking in every corner.
It’s easy to justify the exhaustion, the endless grind, when the city’s on the line. But it doesn’t make the guilt disappear.
The guilt that he still hasn’t gone after you. That he still hasn’t made things right yet. Not when Bruce needs him for this, not when Gotham seems to be shifting into unknown territories.
He tried to shove it down—tried to bury the guilt—and just focus. Focus on the bigger picture.
But it’s hard.
It’s so hard.
Every time he tries to focus on something else, his mind inevitably goes back to you. He hates it.
Bruce’s brooding presence is a constant reminder that there’s always something more pressing—always a new threat looming. And yet, Dick can’t seem to escape the nagging pull of you.
“Bruce,” Dick snaps suddenly, his frustration slipping through. He didn’t mean to. He didn’t mean to bring you up again, but he needs something to clear his head. “It doesn’t matter. I didn’t mean to bring her up. Let’s get back on track.”
He barely registers the way Bruce’s gaze sharpens, the way his lips tighten in a fleeting moment of something—concern? Worry?
No, it looked more like… guilt.
But Bruce doesn’t voice it. Instead, there’s a brief pause, and then, a subtle shift in his eyes. His entire demeanor falters for the briefest second, and Dick feels it, like a change in the air, as though Bruce is about to say something.
But Bruce just sighs, a deep, tired sound, and mutters, “Alright.”
The conversation moves on, like it always does. The case file is opened again, the details of the recent murder presented to them both, as if nothing’s changed, as if everything’s fine.
But things definitely weren’t fine.
And it wouldn’t be for a long time.
Tumblr media
Damian wasn’t one to get caught up in things that didn’t concern him. That’s what he told himself. But when it came to you, he doesn’t know why things are different now.
It wasn’t that he cared. Not really.
He was Damian Wayne, after all.
He was above things like worry, like caring too much.
But when he started noticing how you’d been waking up earlier and earlier to bake things—treats, he noted with growing curiosity—and then leaving for school with them in tow, he couldn’t stop thinking about it.
You weren’t just baking for no reason. You weren’t baking for yourself, like he had first assumed. No, you’d been bringing them to school, and that… that didn’t make sense. You weren’t that kind of person. Unless you were making it for your schoolmates.
No, that was certainly beneath you. You had to know that.
But then you started coming back late. Very late. Far later than what could be excused by a few extra-curriculars or staying after school.
That was when Damian decided to… observe.
He wouldn’t call it stalking, no. Stalking was a bit too… intrusive, in his opinion. He preferred to call it a ‘careful examination of your recent activities.’ That was much more appropriate. And so, with his usual precision, he followed you, quietly keeping his distance, ensuring you never knew he was there.
It wasn’t as if he cared. He didn’t care at all. Obviously.
But he was curious, and he wasn’t about to admit to himself that he was starting to care a little more than he should.
And that’s when he saw it.
You and two other people—a blond guy and a brunette girl—heading towards an…. orphanage?
Damian’s sworn he’s seen the blond guy somewhere, but he can’t place a finger on it.
The place wasn’t far from the manor, but it wasn’t somewhere he expected you to be.
He kept his distance, blending into the shadows as he watched you hand out the treats you’d baked to the children there. So that’s who you were making them for, he thought, his mind almost too sharp for his own comfort.
From where he stood, he observed the way you moved among the children there, your every action contrasting with the other two people you came with. Your friends, as he had identified them, were lively, and they were running around with some of the kids, laughing, playing. But not you.
No, you sat back. You were content just to watch. You were curled up on the grass with some of the other children around you, reading them books.
Books?
Damian frowned. Was that really you?
The same you who never seemed to have time for things like that? The one who always preferred to be out in the field, out on patrol with the rest of the family?
He couldn’t recall a time where you’d ever been the type to sit and do something so mundane. Yet here you were, doing it effortlessly, surrounded by the kids.
And then, of course, there was him.
A little brunette boy. Always near you. Always by your side. Clinging to you like you were his only source of comfort.
Damian’s fingers tightened into fists. His jaw clenched, but his eyes stayed on the boy. For some inexplicable reason, he hated how close he seemed to be to you. How you didn’t seem to mind. No, you were indulging him—letting him climb all over you, laughing at whatever he said.
Damian hated it.
He didn’t understand it. He didn’t understand why this bothered him so much. Why the sight of some random, orphaned kid getting your attention like that twisted something inside him.
He now watched as you and the same boy were sitting off to the side, away from the others, in a quiet corner of the yard. The kid was holding up a stuffed animal, trying to make it talk in a high-pitched voice, and you—you—were playing along, mimicking the voice and laughing as if it was the funniest thing you’d ever heard. Damian’s gaze never wavered. He could see it—the way you were smiling at him. At him, not at anyone else.
Damian didn’t get it. What was so special about this kid? Why did he have to be so attached to you?
And why did you seem so attached to him?
Why were you so at ease with a kid you barely knew for more than a week at most?
Damian hates the fact that he’s feeling like this, that he’s thinking such stupid thoughts.
He watches as the kid tug at your sleeve, saying something in your ear. How much more were you going to indulge this kid?
Tumblr media
“Hey, (Name),” Elliot asked in his little voice, “why’s that kid just standing over there, staring at us?”
You blinked, and without thinking, your gaze followed his.
And there, standing by the fence, was Damian. His figure was stiff, unmoving, his gaze intense and unwavering as it locked onto you. His eyes were cold.
Damian’s heart skipped a beat when he saw you look up, your expression morphing from confusion to realization as your gaze fixed on him.
Damn it, he thought.
Damn it, damn it, damn it.
You knew.
You knew he had been watching.
You didn’t say anything, but he could tell. And the worst part? He didn’t even care that you caught him. He didn’t care that you’d seen him there. What bothered him was the way you’d stopped laughing, the way you’d looked away from him. That distant, almost guilty feeling he got from you.
It was clear. You were aware now.
And somehow, that made it worse.
You groaned slightly, already knowing what was coming. It wasn’t like you hadn’t expected him to follow you; it was just… typical. Rolling your eyes, you’d excused yourself from Elliot, and made your way toward the edge of the orphanage, where Damian stood with his arms crossed, leaning against the railings. The only thing separating the two of you was the metal bars, but that didn’t seem to stop him from making his presence known.
You stopped a few feet away from him, taking in the sight of his usual stubborn posture. “What the hell are you doing here?” you asked, keeping your tone casual, though there was a sharpness beneath it.
Damian’s response was as expected. “Just passing by,” he said, but you could tell it was a lie by the way his eyes darted, refusing to meet yours directly.
You deadpanned, crossing your arms and raising an eyebrow. “Really? You’re just ‘passing by’ on this side of town? When’s the last time you took a stroll over here, hmm?” you remarked, giving him a knowing look. The whole situation screamed of him being here for some other reason.
Damian scoffed, clearly not fond of being caught. He straightened up, trying to act casual, but you weren’t buying it for a second. “I don’t need to explain myself to you.”
You sighed, rolling your eyes. “You’re so stubborn, it’s exhausting,” you muttered, turning to walk towards the entrance. You glanced over your shoulder, your voice softer but more commanding now. “Come inside. Stop standing out here like a loner. It’s an orphanage, not some shady alley.”
Damian shot you a look of annoyance, but instead of refusing, he followed you, clearly annoyed by your comment. “I’m not a loner,” he muttered under his breath, but you could hear the bitterness in his tone.
You smirked, knowing you had won this one. He didn’t even try to argue as you dragged him inside, making sure to ignore his huffing and groaning. Once inside, you immediately caught Caitlyn and Adrien’s surprised expressions when they saw Damian lagging behind you.
Adrien was the first to speak, his jaw nearly dropping. “Is that Damian freaking Wayne I see?” he asked, a cheesy smile on his face.
Damian stood with his usual unimpressed look, glaring at Adrien like he had just been asked the dumbest question in the world. “Is he an idiot or just plain stupid..” he muttered, not in the mood for any more attention.
Caitlyn turned to you, a hint of confusion in her voice. “You invited your brother?” she asked, raising an eyebrow.
“More like he invited himself,” you replied, giving him a side-eye.
Damian just scoffed, his expression unreadable. “I’m just making sure she’s not getting herself involved in some shady business,” he muttered, clearly irritated, and yet somehow still reluctant to admit he had followed you because he wanted to.
You laughed quietly, rolling your eyes. “Yeah, sure. Whatever you say.”
Before Damian could open his mouth to retort, one of the staff came in, calling the children for their meal time. You glanced at Damian, who looked like he was trying to figure out how to stand still without getting involved, but then you pulled him over to the table where everyone else was sitting.
Damian was unceremoniously slotted between you and Adrien, who immediately started up a conversation, not sensing the tense atmosphere Damian was giving off.
Adrien, the chatterbox that he was, began asking Damian a series of ridiculous questions, which only made Damian’s discomfort more apparent. “So, Damian, heard you were homeschooled before? How’s it like going from staying in the comforts of your home to having to mingle with us commoners?” Adrien asked, his voice full of that teasing nature you were used.
Damian’s eyes narrowed slightly, though he gave nothing away. “Tt. None of your business,” he muttered, though his tone was less sharp than usual.
You couldn’t help but watch the interaction unfold, noticing how Adrien kept talking, seemingly without stopping for air, while Damian remained his usual, stoic self, barely responding but still staying present.
It was…endearing in a strange way. You had always known that Damian wasn’t someone who opened up easily, but watching him with Adrien was oddly satisfying. Adrien was persistent, and though Damian was clearly trying to distance himself from the conversation, there was a shift.
In the midst of the lighthearted banter, you caught yourself smiling a little. You knew it would take time, but somehow, Damian was warming up to Adrien’s constant energy. You knew that Adrien probably reminded him a bit of Jon—always asking questions, always talking. And now, somehow, the two of them were starting to get along.
You glanced over at Damian, his brow furrowed in a mix of confusion and frustration, and you chuckled to yourself.
Yeah, he’ll get used to him, you thought, enjoying the rare moment where your brother was forced to interact with one of your dear friends. It wasn’t much, but it was a start. And for now, that was enough.
As the kids were digging into their meals, the conversation around the table shifted, like it always did at some point—towards superheroes. One of the younger boys, Marcus, piped up with a mouthful of mashed potatoes, “Who’s your favorite hero?”
The question quickly spread like wildfire, and before you knew it, the whole table was eagerly waiting for an answer from you, Caitlyn, and Adrien. Caitlyn and Adrien exchanged glances, clearly excited. You, however, already knew where this was going. The answer was obvious.
“Don’t say Batman,” you interjected quickly before either could open their mouths. “That’s such a cop-out answer. Everyone knows Batman’s the go-to.”
Caitlyn looked at you with a mischievous grin. “Well, I wasn’t even going to say Batman anyways,” she huffed out. “Mine’s definitely Nightwing.” She leaned back, resting her arm on the back of her chair, eyes gleaming with a grin. “I mean, come on. He’s hot as hell. And have you seen that ass? Dude’s got the whole bakery goddamn!!”
You froze, your eyes wide for a split second, doing everything in your power to avoid crashing out at that. Did she really just—?
Oh god.
Damian’s gruff voice came from beside you. “Tch.”
You nudged him sharply, hoping he’d keep quiet. “Shut up,” you muttered under your breath, trying to maintain some composure, but you could feel Damian’s growing annoyance from the side of your vision. He didn’t even bother looking at you when he responded.
“What.”
“Don’t react.” You said, your voice quiet but firm.
“Richard wouldn’t like what your friend is saying.”
“Hah, if anything, he’d be honoured.”
“No he wouldn’t.”
Your friends glanced at each other, confused by your hushed but tensed conversation with your brother.
And you didn’t blame them.
After all, Caitlyn had no clue that Nightwing was your older brother, Dick Grayson, and that’s exactly why you were doing your best not to let it show. You weren’t about to explain that you didn’t want to hear her gush about his freaking butt during a nice and peaceful meal.
Adrien, always the oblivious to these things, shifted his focus to the conversation. “Well, I didn’t really mess with him before, but Robin is cool as hell. I mean, come on, he practically saved my life. Got to give the lil guy props for that.”
Damian’s posture straightened a little at that, clearly pleased by the compliment. However, he scowled the moment Adrien added, “the lil guy.”
Damian’s eyes narrowed, and he muttered under his breath, “Robin’s not little.”
Adrien raised an eyebrow, teasing. “Oh really? Well, he’s about…” He trailed off, glancing from Damian to you before continuing, “…about your height, actually.”
You almost choked on your drink, your eyes going wide.
Oh no.
Was he literally about to connect the dots—
“What a coincidence. Maybe you should cosplay as him sometime.”
Oh.
At least Adrien’s blondness is still going strong.
Damian’s answer came with no hesitation, voice completely unbothered. “Sure.”
You sighed with relief, though internally, you were in full panic mode.
Thank god that’s over.
One of the little girls, Emma, who had been quietly listening to the conversation, raised her hand excitedly. “I like Batgirl a lot!” she said with a beaming smile.
Or not.
Caitlyn turned to her, a playful glint in her eye. “Oh, really? Which one?”
Emma blinked, confused. “There’s more than one?”
Caitlyn laughed, shaking her head. “Of course! There’s the original Batgirl, then there’s… the replacement, then the ninja one that came out of nowhere, and now the really nice and friendly one.”
You frowned slightly when Caitlyn called you—or well— the former second batgirl, the replacement. But she wasn’t wrong. You had been a replacement. But you had tried making it your own, hadn’t you? That should at least be recognised, right?
You watched as Caitlyn went off into a long rant, detailing the various Batgirls from across the years. Emma and all the other girls looked wide-eyed, clearly taking it all in, though you were sure half of what she was saying was going out the other ear.
You couldn’t help but shake your head, muttering under your breath, “There’s only one right answer.”
Caitlyn, not missing a beat, grinned. “Yes, and that’s obviously the OG!!! I miss her. I wonder what happened to her. She just stopped showing up for years now.”
Oh.
You grumbled, unable to refute the fact that she was right. The OG Batgirl was the best, no question. Barbara created Batgirl on her own. She owned it. But…come on, you had to back yourself up here.
Adrien piped up, “Nah, the blonde one’s the best. She’s cool and real fun.”
You deadpanned at him. “You’re kidding, right? That’s your pick?”
“What? Am I wrong?” Adrien asked, genuinely confused.
You huffed, leaning back in your chair. “Very.”
“You’re both wrong.”
At that moment, Damian’s voice broke through, and everyone turned to look at him.
You glanced at him, not sure if you had heard him correctly. “What did you say?”
Adrien looked at Damian, raising an eyebrow. “Oh yeah? Who is it, lil guy?”
Damian’s gaze shifted to the table, his voice as steady as ever. “The best Batgirl is obviously the third. She’s the most proficient and the best fighter.”
You stared at Damian, deadpan.
Of course he picked her.
Of course, he’d back the best fighter—always.
For one fleeting second, you actually thought he was talking about you.
But of course he wasn’t.
You didn’t know why you even entertained the possibility of him choosing you. For half a second, you thought—just thought—that maybe, just maybe, he’d acknowledge you. But no. Obviously not.
You should’ve known better.
“What?” Damian asked, noticing your stare.
“Nothing,” you muttered, though the way you immediately crossed your arms said otherwise.
But it wasn’t nothing. It was mild irritation mixed with some very well-earned pettiness. It wasn’t like you expected him to say you were the best Batgirl, but still! You’d think your own brother would at least pretend you were a contender! For a moment, you really thought Damian would pick you.
But of course he didn’t. You weren’t even in the running.
Fine. Fine.
If Damian was going to be like that, you weren’t going to let him off easy.
“You know who’s not the best?” You paused for effect. “The current Robin.”
The temperature in the room seemed to drop.
Adrien and Caitlyn both turned to you, looking confused. Meanwhile, Damian—oh, Damian froze. His head snapped toward you, expression shifting in real time, his usual blank stare morphing into something far more hostile.
“What did you just say?” His voice was calm. Too calm.
You leaned back in your chair, feigning nonchalance. “I said the current Robin is overrated. He’s fine, I guess. But people act like he’s some unstoppable force of nature, and honestly? I don’t see it.”
Damian’s eye twitched.
Adrien let out a short laugh, glancing between you two. “Wait, why does it sound like you personally hate him?”
“I don’t,” you said. “I just think he’s too aggressive. Like, okay, congrats, you were probably trained since birth, but does that really mean you have to act like everyone else is beneath you? Maybe try teamwork sometime.”
Damian scoffed. “Tt. You mean like how the second Batgirl worked with her team? Oh, wait. She didn’t even have one.”
You stiffened slightly. “Excuse me?”
“She was reckless,” Damian continued, now fully engaging in the argument. “Unrefined. She relied on brute force and emotion instead of strategy, which is exactly why she never measured up to her predecessor.”
Your eye twitched.
Oh. It’s on.
“Well, the current Robin acts like he’s the smartest person in the room,” you shot back. “Always belittling everyone he works with, always convinced he knows best—”
“Because he does,” Damian cut in smoothly, sharp.
You narrowed your eyes. “Oh, please. Batgirl was just as skilled—”
“Skilled?” Damian repeated, looking almost offended. “She was a brute. She had no tactical foresight, no patience, no discipline—”
“She gets the job done,” you interrupted.
“And leaves chaos in her wake,” Damian countered.
“Oh, because Robin doesn’t leave a mess?”
“At least his messes serve a purpose.”
You narrowed your eyes at him. “And at least she wasn’t a condescending little—”
“Okay, wait, wait, wait, pause,” Caitlyn suddenly cut in, raising her hands. She and Adrien were staring at you two, completely baffled. “What is happening right now?”
Adrien tilted his head, looking between you and Damian. “Yeah, why do you two sound like you’ve got some kind of personal vendetta against Robin and Batgirl?”
You and Damian both froze slightly, suddenly realizing just how heated this was getting.
You coughed, quickly forcing a neutral expression. “No, definitely not.”
Damian straightened his posture, clearing his throat. “Tt. Of course not.”
Adrien and Caitlyn exchanged a look.
“…Right.” Caitlyn tilted her head. “You sure you guys don’t secretly have some grudge against them?”
Adrien hummed in thought. “Or maybe they just don’t like heroes who remind them of themselves?”
The silence that followed was deafening.
You and Damian both turned to glare at Adrien, who just retreats behind Caitlyn.
You huffed, crossing your arms. “Whatever. The current Robin’s still annoying.”
“And the second Batgirl is too stubborn.”
Caitlyn frowned, looking thoughtful. “I don’t know…I always thought the second Batgirl and Robin actually worked well together. Like, whenever they were seen in the same place, their fighting styles just fit. Like they just got each other’s back, you know? At least, from what I’ve seen.”
Your jaw tensed. You pointedly avoided looking at Damian, and you knew he was doing the same.
Caitlyn’s words echoed in your head, looping over and over again like an intrusive thought you couldn’t shake.
“I always thought that Batgirl and Robin worked well together. Like, whenever they were seen in the same place, their fighting styles just fit. Like they just got each other’s, you know?”
No. No, you didn’t know.
Because that wasn’t true.
It couldn’t be true.
Because if it was true, then—
Then what did that mean?
If you and Damian worked well together—if your fighting styles “fit”—if you “just got each other”—then why hadn’t it been enough?
Why hadn’t it felt enough?
Why hadn’t you been enough?
Why had it felt like you were always fighting for validation?
Why did it still feel like Damian only ever saw you as a burden on the field?
If you had actually worked well with him, then why hadn’t he said anything back then? Why hadn’t he—
You exhaled sharply, shoving the thoughts away.
No.
Caitlyn was wrong. She had no idea what she was talking about.
“You’re giving them too much credit,” you said, shaking your head. “They didn’t work well together.”
Caitlyn blinked. “What? No, they totally did.”
You scoffed. “They barely tolerated each other.”
“I don’t know about that,” she said, tilting her head. “They just… understood each other. You could see it in the way they fought. Like, Robin always knew where that Batgirl was gonna move next, and vice versa. It’s like they were in sync without even needing to say anything.”
Your fingers curled slightly.
No. That wasn’t—
That wasn’t—
That was just necessity.
That was pattern recognition.
That was forced proximity because you had no choice but to move together or risk getting each other killed.
That didn’t mean you worked well together.
It didn’t mean Damian saw you as an equal.
It didn’t mean—
“I suppose the second Batgirl is not… entirely incompetent.”
It was barely more than a murmur, but it was enough.
Enough to make the conversation still. Enough to make all of you turn.
Damian’s eyes flickered downward, arms crossed, his expression a mask of impassivity.
But that sentence. That one hesitation.
It meant something.
Your brain stuttered.
Of all things—that was what he said?
Damian Wayne—the boy who had no patience for weakness, who barely tolerated most people, who was damn near incapable of giving credit where credit was due—just admitted that?
And then—
Then he kept going.
“She’s… effective,” he admitted, as if the words physically hurt. “Her combat style is instinct-driven, but adaptable. It lacks structure, but it’s—tt—unpredictable. It forces opponents into a rhythm they’re unfamiliar with. It’s inefficient, but it works. Works for herself. And works for Robin too.”
You blinked.
That wasn’t just some throwaway comment. That wasn’t just begrudging approval.
That was acknowledgment.
You had spent years training. Learning to move, to fight, to make up for every weakness you had. You wanted someone to see that. Your father, Dick, Barbara—hell, even Jason. But you’d never expected him to see it. To notice.
Much less appreciate it.
And yet, here he was, admitting that you were—what? Unpredictable? Capable?
Your mouth opened slightly, but the words never came. You just stared, feeling something unfamiliar twist in your stomach.
You weren’t used to this.
Weren’t used to this at all.
Definitely not from Damian. After everything—
Caitlyn sighed, leaning back. “Yeah, I suppose so. A lot of people in the East End like her, from what I’ve heard.”
The weight of Damian’s words still lingered, but Caitlyn’s casual addition made something inside you shift again.
“But I haven’t exactly seen her in the past few weeks. Wonder what happened?”
And just like that—
That fleeting warmth vanished.
Your body tensed, fingers curling into your palm so tightly that your nails dug into your skin.
“She quit,” you said before you could stop yourself.
It was too sharp. Too final.
You knew it the second it left your mouth.
And it showed.
Adrien and Caitlyn turned to you, their confusion immediate.
They weren’t just confused by the statement itself.
They were confused by how you said it.
By how certain you sounded.
Realizing your mistake, you scrambled to correct yourself, forcing your voice into something lighter. “I mean, I heard she quit. I guess.”
There was a beat of silence.
Caitlyn hummed thoughtfully. “Oh. What a shame.”
And then—
“It’s a load of bullshit.”
Damian’s voice was edged with something sharp.
You turned to him, frowning. “And what exactly do you mean by that?”
Damian exhaled sharply, arms still crossed. “That Batgirl—assuming she really did quit—is an idiot.”
Your jaw clenched.
“She wouldn’t have quit if she didn’t think she was making an impact.”
“But she did,” Damian said, tone clipped, like it was obvious.
Your breath caught.
“She made an impact. Gotham is worse with one less hero. But she’s too dumb and socially inept to realize that.”
The words slammed into you like a brick wall.
It wasn’t mockery. It wasn’t insulting for the sake of it.
It was genuine frustration.
Damian was angry—not because he didn’t like her—but because she left.
You left.
Because you gave up.
As if you didn’t see what you were to Gotham.
But did you even mean something to Gotham?
Your lips parted slightly, but the words wouldn’t come.
Because what were you supposed to say?
What were you supposed to do with the fact that Damian cared?
That he was fighting for her—for you—when you had convinced yourself no one would?
Damian never defended things like this. He never cared enough to.
But here he was, riding this hard.
For Batgirl.
For you.
And you—
You didn’t know what to do with that either.
The air was too thick. Too heavy. The tension sat like a weight between you both.
You turned away, pressing your lips into a thin line. Damian did the same.
And you could feel your friends shift uncomfotably in their seats after that awkward conversation that they got lost in.
“I like whoever (Name) likes.”
Elliot, small but absolute in his convictions, piped up with the kind of unwavering certainty that only kids had.
You barely had time to react before something in your chest tightened, an ache so unfamiliar that you almost mistook it for something else.
Fondness.
You ruffled Elliot’s hair gently, watching as he beamed under your touch, his loyalty so simple, so unquestioning.
“At least someone knows who truly is the best,” you said, your voice soft but amused.
Adrien, clearly irked by the favoritism, complained, “Hey, no fair! That lil guy just goes along with whatever you say. That’s not counted.”
The words were playful, but they settled something in you—if only for a moment.
A brief, fleeting peace.
You risked a glance at Damian, but found his expression unreadable.
And that made you tense even more.
Because how did one conversation just destroy whatever rapport you’d built with him over the last few weeks?
You opened your mouth to say something but—
“Oh! Looks like you’ve brought along another person.”
And just like that—
Everything in you froze.
Your breath stilled.
Your fingers twitched.
Something cold wrapped around your ribs, tightening.
Mrs. Cole.
She moved toward your group, all warm smiles and polished perfection. But you knew.
You knew better.
The warmth didn’t reach her eyes. The perfection was too smooth, too calculated.
And yet, your friends didn’t see it.
They didn’t feel it.
They didn’t feel the unease sinking into your bones, clawing its way under your skin.
You straightened instinctively, every nerve in your body suddenly alert.
You felt your jaw lock.
And you just stared at the old woman standing in front of you and your friends.
When you didn’t move to introduce Damian, Caitlyn, ever polite, started to do it for you.
“Oh, this is—”
“Damian Wayne,” Mrs. Cole interrupted smoothly, smiling. “Son of Bruce Wayne. Of course, I know him.”
Then, with a turn of her head, her gaze landed on you.
And despite the kindness in her expression—
Something inside you shrank.
“I apologise,” she said gently. “I should have realised earlier that you were, in fact, (Name) Wayne. I hope you weren’t too offended.”
Every syllable was measured. Smooth.
There was nothing wrong with what she said.
But your mind churned.
Something in you twitched.
Something itched beneath your skin, something you couldn’t place.
A meaningless pleasantry? Or a subtle dig? A test? Did she expect you to be offended? Was she gauging your reaction?
Your eyes flickered to her face, scanning for any indication of intent. The tiniest shift in expression. A microsecond of amusement. A twitch of satisfaction.
A crack, a slip—anything.
But there was nothing.
Just polite words and a soft tone.
Just surface-level kindness.
Not a misstep. Not a single crack in her perfect facade.
It made your stomach turn.
Your thoughts tangled, looping over themselves, spiraling deeper into your own paranoia—
And then you realized you had been silent for too long.
Too long for it to be normal. Too long for it to be anything but weird.
You scrambled for a response, grasping for something, anything—
“It’s fine.”
It came out rough. Stiff. Completely unnatural.
Like a person forgetting how to be a person.
Mrs. Cole only smiled. If she noticed your awkwardness, she was far too polite to acknowledge it.
Adrien and Caitlyn, however, were not.
You saw it immediately—the way Caitlyn pressed her lips together to keep from groaning, the way Adrien squeezed his eyes shut like he had just physically felt secondhand embarrassment.
Yeah. Yeah.
That was bad.
You wanted to fling yourself out the nearest window.
Mrs. Cole, as if unfazed, turned back to Damian.
“I hope everything here has been to your liking.”
Damian regarded her for a moment before giving a clipped, formal response. “The conditions appear satisfactory.”
“I’m glad to hear that,” she replied easily. “We do our best to provide a safe environment for all the children under our care.”
You didn’t move.
Didn’t speak.
Didn’t breathe.
Just listened.
You tried to read him.
Tried to see if he felt it too.
If he sensed that something was off with Mrs Cole.
But—
Nothing.
Damian’s expression was unreadable, sure. But that wasn’t new.
What was new was that he didn’t seem to think anything of her at all.
“Well,” Mrs. Cole finally said, brushing nonexistent dust from her sleeve. “I have other matters to attend to. It was lovely meeting you, Damian.”
She smiled, nodding at Caitlyn and Adrien before turning back to you.
“And you, of course, (Name).”
Then—
She was gone.
Moving seamlessly through the orphanage, weaving between staff and children like she belonged there.
You exhaled shakily.
You had overanalyzed every movement, every syllable. Had searched for something.
And yet—nothing.
No proof. No reason for this unease gnawing at your ribs.
And yet, it didn’t go away.
It never went away, no matter what you did.
No matter what you tried convincing yourself with.
And as you sat there, stiff and silent—
You failed to notice the way Damian was watching you.
Expression unreadable.
Eyes sharp.
Like he had seen something.
Something off.
Something he couldn’t quite place.

A new friend…?
Tumblr media
ChocoAU relationship info below!!
This is for @comedic-slut because of your ask and I said I WOULD make a post about it so HERE U GO!! 🥹🫶 THIS ONES FOR YOU BB /p
Adrien as we all know was raised completely isolated. He didn’t know anyone else at school except Chloe, who introduced him to her friends, and one of them wasn’t Nino ahasjhdhd. So he was kind of trapped in this social bubble, despite really wanting to branch out and make more friends, like he had initially hoped. Chloe wouldn’t let him talk to anyone else either (warning him that they were “losers”).
Nino was Alya’s childhood best friend, so they hung out all the time. It was always just, him and Alya and then Marinette. He didn’t want or feel the need to even try to talk to Adrien, since he was cousins with the girl who bullied Marinette and Kim kind of bullied him as well, so The Empire was the group to stay away from. He also was friends with Ivan and Max (they played video games sometimes), so Adrien was just. Never an option for him.
The only reason why he went to even talk to Adrien was because after Chloe and Adrien had a mysterious fight that caused Adrien to be essentially “kicked out” of their friend group, Alya wanted to know why for the drama. The class talked to Kim first, but he said only Sabrina knew, and everyone was aware she would never spill. So, they sent in Nino as the sacrifice to ask Adrien and find out.
Nino invited Adrien out to eat pizza for lunch (since Adrien always went off-campus to eat after the fight), and they got to know each other. Adrien really liked Nino’s bluntness, and he felt like Nino treated him like any other person. But since he had ulterior motives, Nino felt bad for only hanging out with Adrien for information on his personal life. So after the hangout, Nino tells Alya what she wants to know, but still decides to eat out with Adrien, even though Alya points out he can’t afford to do it.
Chloe, still hurt from their fight, finds out about Adrien potentially making a new friend. So, acting in anger and selfishness, she commands her driver to over Nino’s bike. His bike was his only ride to school and to do his job as a delivery boy. (He’s attending the school on a scholarship, so his parents aren’t as wealthy as most of his friends.) Nino immediately stopped talking to Adrien after that, and Adrien got pissed that Chloe would do something like that to scare away his first friend.
Adrien stands up for Nino, he argues/talks with Chloe about her emotions, and she ends up buying him a moped as an apology!
Afterwards, they continue to hang out and develop their friendship!! :D

tsurugi’s influence in revelator: let’s talk about it
something i noticed while watching revelator was the underlying implication that ms tsurugi is still very much active in the inner workings of the agreste family.
let’s set the record straight: we know very little about ms tsurugi’s partnership with gabriel from the earlier seasons. however, we do know that ms tsurugi is a very wealthy, smart, and cunning individual who owns a business in the technology industry, allowing for her to team up with gabriel to create the alliance rings in s5. she knew gabriel was monarch and willingly working with him (very important to note that she did not work for him), her intentions a mystery.
obviously, what made me realize tsurugi likely had some involvement in the events of revelator was vincent mentioning she sponsored him in one of his videos:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
seems kinda meaningless at face value, like something the writers inserted to fill an awkward space in the script. however, if you watch miraculous, you know that everything is intentional.
okay, so ms tsurugi sponsors this recently famous influencer who makes a living off of spreading false information about people. this is odd, as it doesn’t seem like the type of content tsurugi (a very no-nonsense type of person) would endorse.
on the contrary, vincent’s videos are coincidentally targeted at “reporting” on people who tsurugi had some sort of personal connection to. weird, right?
the most obvious example of this is how vincent is very clearly anti-adrienette. tsurugi and gabriel pushed hard for adrien and kagami to get together in earlier seasons to create “perfect” images for their brands.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
as soon as these words came out of his mouth, sirens immediately went off in my mind. WHY is vincent, a seemingly irrelevant character, using the same type of language gabriel and tsurugi used to describe their own children???
rich, famous, good-looking. vincent is glorifying adrien and kagami, describing them as pretty and powerful faces that shouldn’t be involved with common people such as marinette, a baker’s daughter (who he implied is using adrien for his status and success).
language like this has been used to describe adrien since his adrien, the fragrance days—perfect being the most prominent word. why? the lore is insane (iykyk), but to put it simply, adrien is a sentimonster, a creation in the eyes of gabriel. he believed his son could be nothing short of flawless.
a theory common in the miraculous fandom is that kagami is also a sentimonster. i won’t dive into this theory too much, but there’s plenty of concrete evidence to back it up—a noteworthy one being tsurugi using similar language to describe her daughter as gabriel did for adrien. she has high expectations for kagami, and wants her to be nothing short of the best—exactly how gabriel “parented” adrien.
from vincent’s video, it’s implied that tsurugi paid him to spread hurtful misinformation that marinette was a golddigger. her motivation? to get kagami and adrien back together. we already know she hates felix, her daughter’s current boyfriend, so it makes sense.
a possible counterargument:
“vincent is just creating meaningless drama revolving around the popular topic of gabriel agreste’s death, as it offers the opportunities for him to gain popularity”
respectfully, nothing is meaningless in miraculous. maybe i would agree with this argument if TSURUGI of all people didn’t sponsor his content. maybe i would agree with this argument if he didn’t spread false information that clearly villainized marinette and glorified kagami. he also obviously has it OUT for mari. don’t tell me he’s not obsessed with making people hate her because HELLOOOOOO:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
people are gonna love hating the baker girl.
it’s giving very much lila/cerise vibes, honestly. i wouldn’t be surprised if this was some scheme involving tsurugi and lila to turn everyone against marinette, something cerise has been trying to do SINCE SEASON ONE.
so, what do i believe? i believe FOR SURE that tsurugi has something to do with the events of revelator, likely paying vincent to spread misinformation about marinette with the hopes of kagami and adrien getting back together. i also believe it’s very possible cerise is somehow involved in this, maybe working with tsurugi in some way.
LET ME ALSO SAY: tsurugi only cares about marinette because she is preventing kagami from a relationship with adrien. she would not care about ruining marinette’s life otherwise. cerise, however? she obviously hates mari. if tsurugi and cerise did work together to orchestrate vincent’s secrets, it benefitted BOTH of them: pushed for an adrigami redemption (for tsurugi) and demonized marinette publicly (for cerise).
i’m feeling a lil bit like cerise with her thousands of notebooks with this all over the place rant, but lmk what yall think 😭😭😭

El Toro de Piedra reactions
Papacorn more like plateofcorn. I’ve been telling you guys the Ivan lore is gonna go crazy
So is El Toro a real supervillain with super-strength powers or is he just like, some guy wearing a costume? In a world where Luka has magic empath abilities and the ice cream man has divine matchmaking powers I guess it’s not unheard of.
It’s nice to see there are actual criminals in Paris other than Hawkmoth though because before this point it was like “where are the cartoon bank robbers?”
Ok I NEED to know what’s up with Ivan’s mom. “Strong like me and intelligent like your mother” is she also a career criminal? Raul was in jail and Ivan canonically has a younger sister so I’m guessing they live with the mom? Either way his family lore isn’t complete yet
Totally unrelated to anything (the intro reminded me) but I noticed Argos’s eyes look normal in his render but in Revelator they were all purple like in s5. Is he slowly gonna start looking more human over the course of his development?
Gabriel had Adrien wearing that fuckass outfit from birth no wonder he doesn’t know how to dress himself
I like how we’re slowly building a timeline of when exactly Gabriel went insane, like in that plushy that was probably still the Gabi Harry Clown remembered. Somewhere between this and beginning his archeological adventures something happened to him
“You’re gonna know all the secrets of my childhood” [from reading the baby photo album] oh dramatic irony 🦚
Why do I like Luka’s Brazil design more than his default outfit
Ah Marinette you almost walked in on Nathalie’s deeply plot significant evil zoom call. She snapped her laptop shut so fast you’d think she was watching something else
Who thought Luka participating in a concert over FaceTime was a good idea. What kind of utopian sound quality and internet speed do they have in this world? Idk connection is still unreliable tho ig
What’s with him traveling btw because he was clearly back in the Revelator flashback. Do they just teleport him in when they need Viperion or is he traveling back and forth now? Is he gonna come home permanently later?
The conspiracy theorist in me wants to say Gabriel didn’t write that letter and it was planted by the organization but I doubt it. It’s suspicious though. Like when did he write this and what did he think was gonna happen after he died? What if poofing this letter into existence was part of his wish and he had to sacrifice a single sheet of blank printer paper in order to make it happen? Pretty good deal
Ladybug and that STUPID IDIOT chat noir
Ah Ivan’s breakdown censoring the sentimonster stuff just in time of course
I like the way they animated his hand shaking when he dropped the drumstick
So this is a regular thing and he refuses to talk to Mylene about it :(
Mylene literally has one of the best dads in this whole show so maybe Ivan is comparing Raul to Fred and that’s why he feels so weird for having a problematic father
The version of Lila (I assume) stalking Ivan is dressed in traditionally masculine clothes. Maybe she has cross-dress disguises as well.
It’s actually kind of insidious how Nathalie is pushing Marinette into being responsible for hiding things from Adrien. All this crazy shit went down with your villainous boss and somehow the blame for covering it up is going to end up on his son’s high school girlfriend (???)
And *she’s* the one really gunning to sweep it under the rug because if the truth gets out it will primarily have negative consequences for her. I’m not sure how much I believe hiding this is really “for Adrien”
What, you guys don’t know about the secret compartments in the Louvre bathrooms?
Oh hi Alim
Why is it always the Mona Lisa, why do they never go after a less well-guarded painting. Also that room is the French painting gallery and the Mona Lisa isn’t French and is displayed in other parts of the museum… lol I know they only have one gallery modeled and re-use it for everything but still
Ivan’s phone background is the Kitty Section logo
The letter,,, so this is what he was learning in poetry class
Was Raul gonna karate chop the letter in half wtf
I wonder where he’s from, like he’s a Spanish speaker but what country?
Did they ever confirm Ms Bustier was the French teacher before this? I kind of assumed she was but I don’t remember them explicitly saying it and it was more like each class had a main home room teacher than every single class being with different teachers
Nathaniel turn your head more i want to see your miraculous. I think it’s curved? Like it’s a thin and flat silver hair clip but it has a sickle shape that curves around the bunch of hair
Does he have freckles now? Also now we can tell that him having creases under his eyes is just part of what he looks like and not his character model being weird
Zoe what are you doing here you were never even in her class
Sabrina is once again standing directly between Zoe and Max in a group shot. This is maybe the fourth time this season. Incredibly suspicious what is going on here
Yay Mr Montalain looks like he’s in the same art style as everyone else now! And he’s one of the only characters who didn’t have their eyebrows utterly waxed in the redesign. If there’s anything that I have beef with in the redesigns it’s that no one’s allowed to have prominent or interesting eyebrows anymore.
Ondine brown hair animation error?
Even the patriotic People With Blue Eyes cocomelon baby is clapping
The girl with dark skin, a pink pixie cut, and sunglasses on her head is there. She was eating lunch with Adrien, Nino, and Sublime in ep 4 but we don’t know who she is yet
I just noticed Chris is in the crowd, baby why are you an unattended child at the tribute concert for the big kid schoolteacher
The dude in the background who looks like Milo from Atlantis with long curly hair seems like he’ll be one of the new teachers maybe
There’s also a guy who looks like he rides a penny farthing to work, he might also be a new teacher
Aw Ivan’s contact photo for Mylene is her leaning on him
Oh I guess the crime thing maybe is a family business? His grandma? I need the extended Ivan family lore where’s his family tree like those promotional graphics from a while ago
I’d say his dad is a toxic masculinity machismo guy, but him bringing up the grandma (and grandpa) feels like it’s “correcting” for that, like no he’s not patriarchal he was just raised in a hard ass crime family where everyone was like that regardless of gender
That re-contextualizes the Ivan little sister lore :( he probably doesn’t want her to have to deal with the stuff he did and end up like the rest of his family. He might be involved in raising her, too, if his parents are in and out of jail and that might be where his interest in childcare comes from
Off topic, I just finished watching a YouTuber play the game The Roottrees are Dead/Roottreemania which is a mystery puzzle game about piecing together a crazy family tree from nothing and I feel like I’m back in it. “You placed Ivan on the tree and found that Raul is his father. You found the line about his mom’s intelligence, allowing you to place Mrs. Bruel. You collected the clue about Raul being like his dad to fill in Ivan’s grandfather. The line about Ivan’s grandmother setting him straight allows you to add her to the tree. What you may have missed is that in one of the Germany-exclusive trading card game secret lore cards you can find information about Ivan’s younger sister, the last known piece of the tree.”
He looks at his dad like “god you’re pathetic” and then starts running and screaming
Manhole covers are really light in miraculous Paris
Oh so he was keeping the ox miraculous is his pocket. Last episode I thought it was an animation error. Or maybe against school dress code. But he just doesn’t fully accept it
Ivan you were given a free little magical girl animal companion to talk through your problems with and you just gave them away you aren’t utilizing your resources
I’m seeing the pattern here. In Penalteam they all rejected their miraculous for different reasons and now they’re doing it again but expanding on why each of them didn’t want it. Sabrina didn’t think she’d be a good choice because she used to be a bully, and Ivan was afraid of being aggressive because it turns out he doesn’t want to resemble his dad. I’m guessing Marc’s episode will be about overcoming impostor syndrome then, but I’m curious what Nathaniel’s deal is like wtf does “I’m not comfortable being on a team” mean.
Ok his dad being a supervillain is kind of out of nowhere and I do wish there was some sort of foreshadowing that this guy even exists but I gotta say they have been setting this up for a long time. To the point where fans did notice that Ivan probably has issues at home like a violent parent. I feel like the supervillain thing specifically was probably made up later on to make the topic less heavy
TRANSFORMATION the smoke exhale the hammer smash the kicking at the ground slay
My fav part is where he turns his back to the camera and flexes
“I’m not a real singer” lmao why are you the vocalist then what
Rose said star in English is that a thing in French? That the English word for star means rockstar or something because I thought the normal word for star meant that too
THEY 😲👉 THE. ONSCREEN THEY KISSED. After all these years holy moly omg THEY
It sort of pmo when people say “oh so they’re finally canon now” like where have you been. Why do they have to smooch on the lips in front of us for us to know that we already knew that. It’s like every season the show crosses the “oh they’re gay” threshold for more and more people by being more obvious
And when people complain that it was cowardly and not good enough, do you want to see tongue in this children’s cartoon? What more do you want (this is a rhetorical question btw guys don’t be in my replies and also gay marriage has only been legal in the us for ten years and is criminalized in many places let’s be fr). Ok salt over
Anyway they kissed, epic 👉 gay people
Adrien holding phone Luka like how Nathalie used to hold tablet Gabriel. Does it ever drive you crazy just how fast the night changes
The song is lowkey quite good what
Maybe the most insane fight sequence in the entire show I might be gagged
I am my fathers daughter
Minotaurox tanking that hit to protect Chat Noir oh if there’s gonna be a “civil war” between him and Ladybug we know whose side Ivan will be taking
From the side profile his hood really does look like an ox’s neck that’s pretty cool
Guys they made Ivan so gorg in the redesign. Character designer 1: ok so I guess Ondine needs normal clothes we could start with that Chatacter designer 2, slamming open the door, gasping out of breath from running up the stairs, a pile of papers flying everywhere: we need to make Ivan cunty
He’s so tuff, equally if not more so than Pegasus I would say which is a pretty high bar
Ladybug’s lucky charm cowboy hat is so unserious girl read the room. this is what happens when the main character is the only bitch on the show with no daddy issues in The Daddy Issues Episode
The visuals in the ep are so artsy. You got Juleka’s chrome neon concert lights vs Ivan’s breaking bad sepia filter western
How did a letter turn into a whip?
They were technically right, Raul didn’t do anything illegal. Yet. What is this new chance program even supposed to do though because I don’t think it’s working
“Your dad was a hero” Adrien: :/
Ah this part :) evil shadow government cult thing. This is how Tomoe’s connected to everything. Are they as an organization The Supreme?
Now that Gabriel’s dead is someone else taking over as The Diamond? They were the second to last one to log off and Nathalie didn’t move so is someone else behind that name now
Maybe Lila… like Kagami said she isn’t special enough to be a diamond so maybe she took that personally and decided to prove her wrong by filling that role ?? ?
Nathalie’s dad is wheat man nooo Marinette’s wheat-based dad is so much better. I wonder if she was raised to be some kind of fucked up secret agent child soldier from a young age and that’s why she has crazy assassin skills. She doesn’t want to be involved in this bs but lacks the courage to face her father. If only she was there to hear about Ivan’s valuable life lesson and how Adrien regrets that he missed the chance to apply it. If only Nathalie still had the chance right ahaha
Gabriel probably wasn’t aware Nathalie was a plant? Or maybe he was and she was more like a conscripted bodyguard idk
The theatre mask icon reminds me of Lila, like obv her metaphorical masks but there have been screenshots circulating about the black and white split mask hanging in her bedroom and how in Climatiqueen, the lighting of the first lightning strike makes Aglae’s face look exactly like that mask. Creepy. Maybe she’s that dude’s daughter and she was also raised to be some spy like Nathalie was.
I’m kinda hoping Lila is being manipulated by the powerful elite adults at some level because that’s more interesting to me than “girlboss teenage girl outsmarts everyone on earth”. Maybe she thinks she’s in charge or on equal terms with the rest of them but they’re using her
I wonder if the Bourgeois are any of these or Bob Roth. I hope they’re mostly new characters. It feels cheap if they’re all established antagonists who aren’t particularly threatening and play silly roles. Tomoe is nothing like that, and also is an industry titan from a totally different country. It seems like these people are the leading elites in certain categories from all around the world. Could this eventually be a setup for more miraculous world specials? Surprise one of these people lives in Rio and one lives in Dakar, see you there.
I’m not analyzing each logo in detail because other people already did it better than I would’ve
Ok that’s enough, maybe see you guys next week for The Ruler or maybe not. I’ll decide if I want to talk about it or not. I committed to post about this one last time because I felt in my balls that it was gonna be fire and it was.

Hollow Wedding: Reactions and Aftermath
Summary: People react and figure out what to do next after Kagami runs from the wedding.
“I can’t believe this,” Alya said.
That was the third time she said it.
“I can,” Nino said, leaning on his elbows and staring at the table with wide eyes. “I mean, I didn’t think about it, but five cancellations isn’t a coincidence, it’s a pattern.”
“But Adrien’s not like that!” Alya burst, staring at Marinette and Nino with wide eyes. She looked lost. Marinette wished she could throw her a line, but she was just as lost. “Adrien’s your best friend! And there were akumas too-”
“Not all the time,” Marinette pointed out. She wished she had a journal to track it. “Only about half of those cancellations were because of akumas.”
Alya blinked. “But Adrien’s not like that!” she repeated. “I mean, sometimes, he can be clueless, like with Lila, but he’s a good guy!” She stood up as if preparing to drag Kagami out of the bathroom where she was washing off the wedding. During the entire time at the juice bar, she had been staring at her. “She’s probably lying. You shouldn’t-”
“What would have happened if they got hurt?”
Alya blinked again, her anger dying down. “What?”
"What would have happened if Adrien or Kagami got hurt?" Marinette felt her fingers clench into the material of her skirt. She barely knew Kagami and had very negative feelings about Adrien at the moment, even more at the memory of Lila, but the thought of either one getting hurt made her feel sick. "Not even from an akuma, Paris is still a big busy city." She looked up and stared Alya down. "What would have happened?"
Nino spoke for her, his eyes horrified. "Gabriel would have blamed us."
"He would have ruined us, Alya," Marinette said with a nod. "And Adrien didn't care, if he even thought of us. He didn't think about us when Lila was around, so tell me, WHY ARE YOU STILL HUNG UP ON HIM?!" She didn't expect the scream her voice became, and based on Alya's wide eyes, neither did she.
"...I..." Alya closed her mouth, covering it as she thought. "I just..." She closed it again, sitting in silence. Marinette stayed silent as well. She could wait for years for Alya’s answer.
"I don't know," she finally admitted. "I honestly don't know. I should have moved on by now, you're right." She closed her eyes, took in a deep breath, and held it. When she released, she opened her eyes. "I'm sorry, Marinette. You're right. I should have gotten over the idea of you guys dating a long time ago."
Marinette was tempted to forgive her, but she refused. This would be like a lot of other issues in their friendship, like the embarrassing Instagram pictures or Alya’s constantly going through Marinette’s things. It would take time.
“Yeah,” she said. She stood up then, brushing her hands on her skirt. And that suddenly reminded her that she was still wearing her fancy dress. “I’m going to go get changed and check on Kagami. Nino, I think you should tell Nathalie at least that Kagami’s staying the weekend.” She wouldn’t be surprised if Kagami left tomorrow morning, but saying “the weekend” would give her time to collect and consider her options.
Nino gave her finger guns. “Got it, dudette. Do you mind if I raid your fridge too?” He winced. “The food wasn’t great, and I’m still hungry.”
“Yeah,” Marinette said. “I have some frozen stuff, so if you guys want to do an appetizer spread, go ahead.”
She headed out of the kitchen, heading to her bedroom. The shower was silent, but she didn’t think about it as she opened the door.
Then her brain processed what she was looking at.
“SORRY-!” Marinette screeched as she slammed the door.
She stared at the door, her mind scrambling. What she had seen was Kagami’s pale skin gleaming, her lithe figure in the middle of pulling the shirt Marinette had laid out for her. Her hair curled freely at the ends, reminding her of her childhood crush on Joan of Arc.
The door opened.
“Sorry!” Marinette repeated, staring at Kagami. “I should have knocked-” The shirt she wore was made for Marinette, who tended to be on the thicker side, meaning that on Kagami’s slender body, it hung off, revealing a freckled shoulder. “I- I’m sorry. How are the clothes?”
Kagami didn’t take the out, though. “You have no need to apologize, this is your apartment.” She looked down and plucked at the shirt, which had an adorable hamster on it. “The clothes are comfortable. Thank you for giving me an outfit.”
“It’s no problem,” Marinette said, stepping around Kagami to step in. There was a stack of neatly folded clothes on her bed. The Miraculous Box was left untouched, thankfully. “I just wanted to let you know that Nino’s making some food and he’s also texting Nathalie to tell her that you’re staying the weekend. You don’t have to stay the weekend, but I figured Gabriel would give you that time-”
“I don’t mind staying for the weekend,” Kagami interrupted. Her hands began to fuss with the edge of the shirt. “Unless you mind?”
Huh. “No, I don’t,” Marinette said, grabbing some pajamas. “I know some of the girls want to get to know you more, and so do I.”
Kagami blinked and, for a second, a pleased smile flitted across her face before she turned, giving her privacy to change. “So do I,” she said. “For example, have you ever fenced?”
That brought up an old memory. “I wanted to,” she said. “At first, because like a lot of teenage girls, I wanted to whack things with a sword.” A snort made her look back, realizing that Kagami’s shoulders were shaking. “Then I got my crush with Adrien and- this is so stupid,” Marinette felt her hands rise to her face at the memory. “But there was a place free in his fencing class and my friends and I did this whole stupid scheme to get in it so I could spend time with Adrien.” “Did it work?”
“Nope,” Marinette admitted. “But Nora, Alya’s sister, heard us groaning about it and she got me into kickboxing.” She finished pulling up her shorts. “Looking back, I’m really glad that it didn’t work out, because I would have stabbed myself or someone else.” She sighed. “But I’m bummed that I never got into it.”
There was a long pause. “I could teach you,” Kagami offered. “I help at Adrien’s old fencing class, sometimes.”
Marinette’s heart, for some reason, skipped a beat. “You would do that?”
Kagami turned, giving a polite nod. “You have been so kind,” she said. “Letting me stay on your couch-”
“You don’t have to stay on the couch, I don’t mind sleeping there this weekend-”
Kagami held out a hand. “You are a wonderful person, Marinette,” she said, her tone thick with sincerity. “Spending time teaching you how to fence is nothing.”
Marinette nodded. “We can see if we can buy any equipment tomorrow?” she offered.
“That sounds wonderful.”
-_-
Adrien was pretty sure he was going to die.
Kagami had just walked into the hall, walked up to him, and told him they were divorcing. While he had been processing that, she had walked up to her mother. Whatever she said, Ms. Tsurugi was furious.
And now they sat around the dining table, staring at him.
“...Care to explain why you have another woman?” his father asked. “You and Kagami have been in love for a long time.”
“Well, not really?” He needed to be honest. Surely, they would understand. This wouldn’t be a repeat of Lila’s reveal. “I mean, Kagami’s a great person, but I don’t love her. She looks like my crush, so I needed to be honest with her.” He tried for a smile.
There was a long silence as both Ms. Tsurugi and his father stared at him. Adrien felt beats of sweat prickle up as he realized that he had said something wrong. What it was, he wasn’t sure, otherwise he would’ve fixed it.
Tsurugi finally stood.
“The marriage is being annulled,” she said, her tone broiling with anger. “Furthermore, I am pulling from our agreement.”
Oh shit.
His father stood up, his eyes wide and frantic. “What- but- You can’t, simply because my son is an idiot!”
Adrien flinched at the insult and the sudden chill in the air. Ms. Tsurugi spoke then, her words cool and calculated. “I am not pulling out because your son is an idiot. I am pulling out because you are an idiot, Gabriel.” His father sat down, and Adrien nearly checked his pulse. “You and your wife have made your son an idiot, and it shows.” She leaned forward. “What would happen the moment your son took control of your business, Gabriel?” Her nails screeched against the table. “It would have sunk because your son has no idea of the real world. You have willingly doomed your company and you wanted to tie my daughter to your sinking ship.”
His father gaped, but before he could say anything, Nathalie walked in. “Sir, madam, I have news about Miss Kagami’s whereabouts.”
“That’s great!” Adrien said. “Where is she?”
“She is with Miss Dupain-Cheng, Mr. Lahiffe, and Miss Cesaire, and will be spending the weekend with them.”
…wait.
“Mr. Lahiffe also took the time to inform me that you have been repeatedly cancelling events with your friends and Miss Kagami,” Nathalie said, folding her hands. “I was not aware of this, considering to my knowledge that during those times, you were out of the house and with your friends.”
Oh fuck. Oh, fuck.
Adrien had always intended to introduce Kagami to his friends, but stuff had happened. Akumas, his restricted schedule, trying to convince Ladybug to date him…eventually, it got to the point where he was pretty sure he could never introduce her because of this.
Fuck.
"So," Tsurugi said, straightening up and paying no attention to his crisis. "She's safe?"
Nathalie nodded. "While we have our thoughts about Mr. Lahiffe, Marinette Dupain-Cheng is one of Adrien's most trustworthy friends. She will take good care of Miss Kagami, I assure you."
Tsurugi nodded. "That is good to know. My lawyer will be here by tomorrow to settle matters." She turned to the door and walked out without another word, leaving the dining room in silence.
Adrien's relief at her gone disappeared when his father and Nathalie turned towards him. His father's shock was still there, but it was being covered by a cold veneer of rage. "What..." he started, gripping the table. "Were you thinking?"
"I just-" Adrien started, trying to think of an excuse. At first, it had just been the akuma attacks. Then he got the idea for the romantic picnic, and it seemed like the best way out. Nino and his friends knew his crazy schedule and his father didn't exactly think highly of Nino. "I, look..."
"Let me see your phone," his father said, holding out a hand. "Whoever you kept lying for deserves to know."
"No!" Adrien said, placing his hand over his pocket where the burner phone he kept for Ladybug was.
"I refuse to indulge you in this idiocy," his father snarled. "You have lied to everyone for over seven years. What would have happened if you or Miss Tsurugi had gotten hurt during one of your little games?!"
Adrien felt a scoff come out. "The cure would have fixed us."
A fist slammed down and the table cracked. "THERE IS MORE DANGER THAN AKUMA ATTACKS!" his father roared, and Adrien felt himself shrink back. He had never seen his father so angry before. He had heard him throw things out of anger once, back when he stole that book, but seeing the fire in his eyes was different. "WHAT IF YOU HAD GOTTEN MUGGED?! KIDNAPPED?! MURDERED?!"
Nathalie stepped forward as his father panted. "You don't know this since I screened your mail, but there are quite a few of your fans who have spoken about stalking you and murdering you so nobody else could have you," she said. She wasn't serious, right? Adrien felt his doubt die as she stared him down. "I would have expected Lila Rossi's behavior to have made you understand."
That was a low blow.
"So," his father said, leaning back. "Give. Me. The Phone."
Adrien felt his hand move on his own, pulling the burner phone out. He could just send out a mental prayer that they never used their hero names. The moment it hit his father's palm, there was a soft chirpy ding!
Adrien immediately lunged for it, but his father was already opening it up. His eyes scanned the texts, and his anger grew more visible. “She…” Gabriel closed the phone and let out a hiss of air. “Are you sure you two are friends?”
“Ye- Yes?” Of course, he and Ladybug were friends.
Gabriel handed the phone over. “Friends don’t treat each other like that,” he said, his voice cooling. He slumped over, massaging his eyes. “I can’t believe…” Without finishing his sentence, he stood up and walked out of the room. Nathalie followed him out, giving Adrien a look that was hard to decipher.
Adrien looked at the text. Logically, he needed to talk to Nino and try to figure things out there, but it was Ladybug. His friends could wait, his lady couldn’t.
BugOut: I really hope you were joking about waiting for me to crash your wedding, because that is fucking unfair to your partner. I just found out my friend has been dragging his fiancee on for years now.
BugOut: If you’re really like that, I’m so disappointed in you.
The screen went dark.
-_-
Kagami settled into the couch with a sigh, drawing the soft red sheets around her.
The furniture at Adrien’s home had always been stiff and uncomfortable, like Gabriel Agreste. If there was anything she had loved about Adrien, it was that he tried to make it gentler sometimes.
Here, the couch was warm. It was a touch bumpy, with some stains here and there, but it felt alive. Earlier, Nino and Marinette had battled in a video game, jostling and teasing each other, Alya encouraging them as Kagami watched, filling the room with life. The pajamas she wore were unlike the red silk she wore usually, but if she focused, she was sure she could smell Marinette.
You’re really pretty.
Her face warmed at the memory, with Marinette’s cheeks pink and a little unsure smile on her face. Adrien had blushed before at her, yes, but now Kagami wondered if it was truly at her. She wondered if he was seeing his other girl then.
…did it matter?
Kagami shook her head. No, it didn’t. Right now, she was sitting in a place that was warmer than anything else. The windows glimmered with Paris’s lights. Tomorrow, she and Marinette would meet up with the rest of Adrien’s “friends”, giving Kagami the chance to make friends that Adrien had denied her, and buy fencing gear. By next week, hopefully, she and Marinette would have their first friendly match.
Her mind created the image of Marinette pulling a fencing mask off, smiling at her.
She couldn’t wait.

Even better for the Roger=Lila idea, the kwami aren't fooled by his disguise. They want to tell their holders the truth, but they tried that before when Fu ran into him and it got them nowhere, so they decided to just bear with it.
Marinette: What do you MEAN Lila’s an alien?!
Wayzz: It is just as we said. She’s an alien.
Mullo: And a master of disguise. And a massive jerk.
Marinette: Why didn’t you tell me?!
Tikki: We thought it would be better.
Marinette: Lila is an alien who is trying to date Adrien and manipulate my friends! How is this better?!
Longg: We’ve tried to tell people before. Often and repeatedly. But his glamour is too great. No one listens!
Sass: And trying to out him only makes things worse.
Tikki: He eventually gets bored and leaves on his own anyway. We’ve learned it’s just better to ignore him.
(They look over to the school on fire.)
Marinette: …this is better?!
Sass: Sadly, yes.

Could you recommend good written rarepair fics?
Sure! I don't know what you qualify as rarepair, so I'll use my old standby of "everything that isn't Lovesquare". I've got a lot of these to recommend, so I'll split it up by ship, unless there's only one fic in the pairing, in which case I'll dump it at the end.
I've split this up by pairing. If I have multiple fics to rec for a pairing, I'll give it its own category, if not, then it goes into the "one-offs" category at then end.
I have categories for Adrino, Marigami, MarcNath, Lukadrien, Julerose, Chlobrina, DJWifi, Alyanette, and FeLuka, in that order.
---
Adrino:
Within Your Heart by Inkyibis
It’s Valentine’s Day and Ladybug just wants to her superhero partner to find his love. And what she wants, the Lucky Charm will create. If only she could remember what it is she did last night.
Adrino fic here! Marinette’s drunk and feeling awful that her superhero partner is alone on Valentine’s (she’s in a loving and committed relationship with Alya), so she creates a Lucky Charm to help Chat find love! In this universe, Ladybug’s Lucky Charms have the power to create new rules for the universe to follow, such as making one that demands that if you have any magic in you, you have to tell the truth or else you’ll freeze. Or in Adrien’s case, that he has to wake up in the arms of his true love every day XD. It’s very sweet and I love both Adrien’s and Nino’s relationship, and the relationship between the rest of the Miracuteam members as well, even though that’s not the focus.
---
I’ll give myself a name (something stupid and pretentious) by @bbutterflies
Nino looked at the number and didn’t recognize it. Usually he wouldn’t answer, but he had nothing better to do – and could still really use a distraction – so he did. “Hello?”
“Hey, Nino.”
Nino stood up quickly, chest tightening. He knew that voice. He’d been waiting to hear it again for over two years. “Adrien?” he whispered.
“Yeah. It’s me."
-
When Monarch is defeated (and revealed to be Gabriel Agreste), Chat Noir immediately goes missing. Adrien disappears not long after. When Adrien finally shows up in Paris again, Nino would do anything to make sure he doesn't disappear again.
Ah this is lovely, Adrien’s been in a lot of emotional turmoil since Monarch’s defeat, convinced that everyone would hate him, SHOULD hate him, for not realizing that his father was the villain, and should hate him even more for disappearing like he does. But slowly Marinette and Nino get through to him, convince him that they just want him back.
And also Adrien and Nino smooch. Multiple times. So that’s a bonus XD.
---
Would Trust You With Everything by @kasienda
Nino breaks off, tears streaking down his face. Adrien wishes he was here as himself instead of Chat so he could offer a hug.
“It’s not like I don’t think she deserved her privacy. It’s just it felt like I was her last priority. And if I knew why, then maybe we could overcome it. But when I don’t, I’m not willing to be her last thought. You know? I always put her first.”
“Yeah,” Chat agrees, able to relate too well. He always put Ladybug first too, and he’s not sure it has ever been the same for her. “I’m sorry you’ve been so alone through this."
“I haven’t been totally alone,” Nino disagrees, holding up his phone. “My best friend has been keeping me company virtually most of the day.”
“Yeah? It helped?”
“I don’t know if any of the stuff he sent helped, but like, given what I know he’s up to, he totally had to move heaven and earth to talk to me so much, and that really helped. You know, just knowing that someone was thinking of me.”
“I’m glad,” Chat Noir said. “I wish he could be there in person for you.”
Nino sighs. “Yeah, me too, but at least you’re here."
...
Season 4 au - canon divergent from Rocketear Rocketear led to DJWiFi breakup.
Ahh, Adrino my beloved XD. I love the identity shenanigans in this one with Adrien being around Nino as both Adrien and Chat Noir, and both of them vaguely describing their situations to each other. It takes Adrien a bit to figure out that he has a crush on Nino, but once he does...
---
The moment I knew (I’d no choice but to love you) by @bbutterflies
“He’s dating me,” Nino said, taking Adrien’s hand in his own.
Adrien could only stare back at him in shock.
“How dare you all force him to come out?” Nino continued, glaring at the reporters. “That was disgusting.” He pulled Adrien over to the car, guided him in, and shut the door behind them.
In the relative quiet and privacy of the backseat, Adrien finally processed what had just happened. “So… when were you going to tell me we were dating?”
This Adrino fic is delicious XD. Reporters keep hounding Adrien about his love life, so Nino finally gets them off Adrien’s back by fake-dating him. Problem is, Adrien’s actually been madly in love with Nino for years but has never been able to tell him. And now as they’re spending more time together, Nino’s beginning to find that he’s enjoying all these “couple” activities more than maybe he ought to if it’s entirely platonic...
If you want to see Adrien and Nino PINING for each other while “fake” dating (is it really fake if both parties want it to be real?) then you’ve come to the right fic!

Chemistry With Him by @bbutterflies
It kind of sucked Nino was taking chemistry, but classes had filled up fast and he needed to take something and his advisor had said the credits would, somehow, count towards his major. It really sucked he was taking it first thing on a Monday morning (and Wednesdays, and Fridays, unfortunately). But he could get through it. He knew he could.
So no more boys. No distractions. He could do this all on his own.
“Is anyone sitting here?”
Nino looked up to find the source of the voice. A blond, green-eyed, absolutely beautiful someone.
Okay. Maybe one distraction.
Ah, adorable Adrino. This is a universe where Adrien never went to public school, so while Chat Noir, Ladybug, Carapace, and Rena Rouge all know each other (and Marinette, Alya, and Nino all know each other’s identities) they’re unaware that they are all already friends with Adrien. I loved seeing Chat and Carapace excitedly tell each other about their awesome crush/boyfriend, not knowing they were talking about each other XD.

Awaken by InkyIbis
The previously white butterfly, now oozing black and purple as a conduit of the butterfly miraculous powers, flutters softly within the silvered-gloved hand.
It sits there for a long time.
"Go, my akuma," The soft sigh pushes the butterfly, the akuma, out towards the despair of a love not returned. The same ache within his chest. On a level so great that he's willing to sacrifice the city to mend it.
It's okay if he's the villain for now. He'll force the miraculous of creation and destruction to be revealed, and once he gets his hands on them, none of this pain, none of his loss, will ever happen.
This is essentially a canon rewrite for Miraculous (specifically seasons 1 and 2, with a bunch of the events mixed around) that focuses primarily on Adrien, with his relationship with Nino being the main driving relationship of the fic. (Don’t worry, Marinette’s still treated fine, she’s just not the focus). This is the best “rewrite Miraculous with more of a focus on Adrien” type fic I’ve seen, with it reworking the plots of the episodes so that they’re different enough to be their own distinct thing - it’s not trying to just rewrite the canon episodes but from Adrien’s POV, there’s a lot of lore changes going on as well, and things occur in different orders.
Like lorewise, Chat’s given a more important role in cleaning up the mess the akumas leave, with his power helping to cleanse akuma victims and he and Ladybug needing to use their powers in tandem in order to cast Miraculous Ladybug. There’s also no Miracle Box holding the kwamis. Instead, Chat sometimes surpasses his limits and ends up summoning kwamis, which is dangerous to him, but very useful.
What really makes this fic great though, is its focus on Adrien’s emotions. You really get a feel for Adrien’s insecurities, especially when it comes to not feeling like he’s good enough for Nino, with not wanting to bother him when he absolutely should, with feeling like he’s not a good enough friend to him, and then there’s dealing with all of Gabriel’s usual abuse on top of that.
Speaking of Nino, this is an Adrino fic (though several characters get crushes on Adrien, Nino’s the one who matters most for this), though a slowburn one. Nino’s clearly head-over-heels for Adrien, but Adrien has like, no context for what a romantic crush feels like and is basically viewing Nino the way he viewed Marinette in canon prior to season 5. He clearly cares for him a lot, including romantically, he just... doesn’t get it.
Anyway, if you want an interesting canon rewrite fic from Adrien’s perspective with Adrino as the main pairing, this is a good story to pick up!

If I hold you too close by @bbutterflies
Paris didn’t come to a screeching halt for akumas anymore. They were so commonplace, so frequent, no one stopped their lives unless they were in danger. They trusted the heroes to fix everything if something did go wrong, save them if they got hurt. Adrien was still fighting the urge to find Plagg and go running into battle. Plagg wasn’t here, though. --- Post-season 5 where Adrien got sent to London sooner and gave up his Miraculous to keep Paris safe.
If you know this author, then you've probably already guessed that this is an Adrino fic (seriously if you like Adrino, check out bbutterflies fics, though honestly if you ARE an Adrino fan, you probably already have).
So in this scenario, Adrien was sent to London and didn't get to return, so he gave Plagg the ring so he could find another Holder. In this case, Nino. After a few years, once he's an adult, Adrien manages to come back from London, but he's in ROUGH shape. He drinks a lot, he has a reputation for partying hard and causing disruptions, and is really depressed and hates himself, and hates Felinoir (Nino's Black Cat form) even more, for having what he lost.
But even while Adrien's pushing everyone away to protect himself, his old friends refuse to give up on him, even though he's given up on himself.
While Adrien's problems are the primary focus of the fic, they're not the entire focus. Nino gets a POV, and he has personal issues and insecurities of his own. He has trouble holding down relationships, he doesn't have a lot of close friends these days, and he's struggling to keep up in school with all the akumas he's had to fight. He and Ladybug are fine coworkers, but they aren't much more than that - they aren't friends like Chat Noir and Ladybug were.
Oh, also, Nino's a transman. That's also caused some issues in making and keeping friends.
It's a beautiful story of one person hitting rock-bottom and gradually being pulled back out of it again, until they can stand on their own and push themselves up the rest of the way, and of a friend who discovers their childhood best friend (and crush) has changed enormously since they last saw them, and not in good ways - only to find that their friend is, at their core, still there. They just need help seeing it themselves.

Marigami:
Plans Aren’t Everything by BeeRye
Feeling a bit fed up with constantly having her dates with Marinette cut short, Kagami sets aside some time in order to plan the perfect outing for the two of them. Despite being the holder of the Miraculous of the Black Cat, she believes one day of romance isn’t too much to ask for. As long as she treats it all like she does everything else in her life, the results she wants should come to pass. She doesn’t quite know what to do if that ends up not being the case.
This was adorable and captured Kagami’s mindset well, she decided, rather optimistically that she could just brute force the date into going well. Unfortunately, that’s not gonna stop Hawk Moth. Fortunately, Marinette has her own back-up plans…
---
Anchor by @liiinerle
“Marinette. Please take that sabre out of your neck.” “Right. Thanks. I forgot it was there.” She grabbed hold of the guard and pulled; the blade slid out like it had only been run through butter. After dropping it on the floor, she picked up one of the teacups and picked up a biscuit from a tin she’d brought in; she placed the biscuit on the saucer plate and handed the whole thing to Kagami, who could only really resign herself to accepting it. —– Marinette has raised Kagami from the dead, and also happens to be dead herself. It turns out some bad choices were made in the past. But that doesn’t mean they’ll lead to bad outcomes for them now.
I love this, Marinette’s incredibly blase about being a zombie - which makes sense, given how long she’s had to get used to the idea. And she’s waited so long, tried so hard to bring Kagami back as well, though if she didn’t WANT to be back, she’d accede to that request. Luckily, Kagami doesn’t seem to mind as long as she’s with Marinette XD.

Galaxy In Your Eyes by @liiinerle
Arriving in Paris, Kagami almost immediately finds herself assaulted by a dark, infectious butterfly. When she wakes up, a ladybug-themed superhero is standing over her, and her eyes are like holes into an empty, vast, and incredibly alluring universe… An AU where the two main Miraculous function differently from the norm.
Nice Marigami fic here! Or should I say, Ladygami - technically Marinette doesn’t exist, only Ladybug, who’s an immortal creation goddess, or something like that. But she still fights to protect Paris from Hawk Moth alongside Chat Noir, who is still a normal, squishy human underneath the suit.
Anyway, there’s a but of inspiration from Nimona here, with a lot of people being scared of Ladybug because she’s a bit… out there, especially when she shapeshifts to have like, 6 extra arms and a lobster tail. Kagami’s into it though XD
---
Accidents Are Also Miracles by @liiinerle
After a few turbulent days where four new people discover her secret identity, Marinette loses faith in her ability to keep the secret hidden. Wracked with doubts and insecurities, she pleads with Alya to take over as Scarabella, but she still can't let those worries go. Especially not once Monarch starts taking a particular, and personal, interest in her.
Along the way, she also starts to date Kagami, and has to deal with changing feelings about herself, Adrien, Alya, Kagami, and the idea of being Ladybug. At the same time, Alya works to uncover Monarch's secret identity, while Kagami struggles against a controlling parent, and a girlfriend who seems bent on destroying herself - with or without Monarch's involvement.
Fantastic Marigami fic here! You’ve got three major POVs in this fic: Marinette, Kagami, and to my delight, Alya. I loved getting to see Alya cope with taking over as Scarabella especially.
But of course, this fic centers more around Marinette and Kagami, with Marinette struggling with Monarch targeting her, and Kagami struggling against her abusive parent, as well as both of them trying to navigate their relationship together when they know that not everyone will approve.
There’s also some other plots going on in here, like Sabrina breaking away from Chloe and becoming more independent (and closer to Adrien in fact), as well as a Lila takedown plot, though thankfully not one that involves demonizing other characters. While there are conversations about people believing Lila and siding with her, no one’s actually attacked for it except for Lila herself.
Oh yeah, and while this fic may not have much focus on Adrien, he’s still treated fairly and with respect, even when he messes up. He can make mistakes, but people understand where he’s coming from, and are still kind to him and want things to be okay, and to help him escape his abusive circumstances.

Marcnath:
Day 7: Book by Andromeda612
During one of his works, Marc comes across a rather interesting book.
MarcNath AU fic here! Basically Marc is a super powerful warlock, and is brought in to help with the case of a lying witch who apparently caused a lot of problems for people, using her magic to help fool everyone. She’s actually dead by the time the story starts, and everyone’s trying to go back through and figure out what she’s done and why memories surrounding her seem to be foggy. Meanwhile there’s a book she left behind which appears to be sentient, and which Marc’s taken a liking too...
---
don't you worry child by @mexicancat-girl
Marc and Nathaniel have a good life, married and living together in a cottage in the woods. But they consider having children at some point. Marc in particular really wants to start a family with his husband. He knows the fey are real, so he goes searching in the woods to find one to strike a deal. He may get a bit more than he bargained for in the process.
This is based on a tumblr post that’s been going around, which I think a lot of people will recognize as they continue going through the story. That post is credited at the end of the fic, so as not to spoil the plot.

Confession Plans of Questionable Sanity by yellow14
Nathanael Kurtzberg has a confession to make. He’s in love with his big classmate Ivan. With the help of Marc, Marinette, Adrien and Nino, he’s going to confess, using increasingly complicated schemes. Marc meanwhile, is busy coming up with even more complicated schemes to sabotage those schemes so he can confess HIS feelings for his redheaded friend. Nothing could POSSIBLY go wrong with this, right? Written for the March 2023 gift exchange on the Miraculous Fanworks Discord forum for CassieTheweirdWolf.
This fic’s just really funny. These kids love to make things waaaaay harder than they need to be. But hey, everything ends up working out in the end, even if it’s not the way they planned!

Evillustrator Reimagined by onewaywriteturn
A full, mostly-standalone rewrite of the episode "The Evillustrator".
Nathaniel never planned to tell anyone about his secret crush on his friend Marc, but his world changes when Chloe picks up his sketchbook and mocks his art in front of the whole class, inadvertently outing him as bisexual. Now as the Evillustrator, he has two objectives: to take vengeance on Chloe for what she did to him and to go on a date with Marc for his birthday.
At the same time, Marinette is already struggling to defend Sabrina from Chloe when she learns of the Evillustrator's crush on Marc, one of her good friends. And while getting Marc involved with an akuma fight is messy enough, the fact that Marc has secretly liked Nathaniel for a long time complicates the situation so much more.
If you ever wanted to see Evillustrator rewritten to focus around NathMarc, this is the fic for you! The two of them just PINE for each other so hard and are so convinced that the other person couldn’t possibly actually want to date them, even with Evillustrator making it uh. Exceedingly obvious XD.

I'd Do Anything For $20 (To Feel More In Control) by Shroomifyiy
Bee!Nathaniel AU one shot (because I think he's silly teehee) Nathaniel hated keeping secrets, especially from someone he cared about. But unfortunately, it's not up to him to decide that. Marc feels hurt from Nathaniel's actions. He just wants his boyfriend to be honest with him. Hawkmoth is a bitch ass motherfucker. Enough said.
Fun Nathmarc fic here! I love seeing Nathaniel's interactions with Pollen, and him cope with the strain on his relationship with needing to run off all the time to go fight akumas with only the flimsiest of excuses. He loves Marc deeply, as deeply as Marc loves him. But Marc's getting suspicious and wondering what's going on, and Nathaniel doesn't think he can tell him.

Handle With Care by @dragonchris
AU where soulmates can feel each other's emotions. But having a soulmate isn't always beautiful and romantic. Sometimes it's messy. Sometimes it hurts. Marc and Nath have to learn what that means for them.
This was cute, I loved seeing how Nathaniel and Marc both thought about their soulmate, and how they cope with the aftermath of Reverser in this AU. Helps that Alix is a platonic soulmate of Nathaniel's here (Nathaniel has two soulmates).

Lukadrien:
When feelings are too big for words by ClockworkCaptain
When Luka takes a gig playing for a drag show he's falls hard and fast for the drag queen Buttercup who uses her performances to work through her own emotions. Meanwhile Adrien's been using drag to work through his own emotions and thinks maybe Luka coming back into his life and showing interest might mean a second chance. Made for @mlsecretsanta 2022
One of the issues I tend to have with Luka shipfics, and with Lukadrien especially (though I think Lukanette actually has this problem worse) is how Luka tends to disappear within the fic and the pairing, feeling more like “The Love Interest” than his own person. Not so here! While most of the intrigue surrounds Adrien, I still got the sense of Luka being his own person, not just existing in the fic for Adrien.
I adored Adrien getting to display an aspect of himself through persona and performance - that does align well with how he approaches Chat Noir - and overall I just had a lot of fun with this fic!
---
forever (and a little bit) by @rainbow-arrow
Now the world was out of tune. It was messy and blurry and Luka could not fathom waking up tomorrow and accepting his new life. He had less than nothing. How could he care about anything when the better half of his melody was replaced with silence. --- see also: Luka's villain origin story
This is a tragedy, don't go into it expecting a happy ending. Adrien breaks up with Marinette because he's upset over her lying to him about his father's fate and not telling him he's a sentimonster, and gradually becomes closer to Luka instead, first as a friend and later as a lover. There are fragments of story from the future that let you know this love story isn't going to last...
It's rated M, though I think that's mostly because of Adrien's injuries. I can see why it's M rated, but I think most teens should be fine reading this.

Two is Company by Shadownoble
Adrien’s father wants him to play for an upcoming party. Only this time he won’t be doing it alone.
This Lukadrien fic's adorable! Luka's got selective mutism, which Adrien takes in stride. I love how their relationship develops, they're smitten with each other! Though of course while Gabriel brought the two of them together, he's an obstacle too. Because he's a dick.

Julerose:
How Could I Not? by SorryJustAnotherPerson
In fairy tale books, Princesses were saved by nights from ferocious dragons. Those books were not their story, but Rose was happy to flip over a new page with her Juleka every single day. Many years ago, she was put to this tower by her parents and her kingdom, along with a fire breathing dragon, so she could find her prince charming one day. How foolish for them to not calculate her falling in love with the dragon. I mean seriously. How could she not?
I love fairy tale type stories, especially fractured fairy tales. And Juleka being a dragon is awesome. This is just a fun and adorable story.

You’ll be the prince and I’ll be the princess by @mexicancat-girl
With Team Miraculous now full-time holders, Ladybug has them patrolling in pairs like her and Chat Noir. New partners Pigella and Purple Tigress get along phenomenally, their easy banter and similar wavelengths making working with each other a joy in and out of combat. But sometimes Tigress is surprised just how close she is with her partner. Sometimes she tries not to feel too guilty thinking about it.
There’s some nice Julerose here! I love them kinda getting into a lovesquare with each other, though it’s not as much of a problem as it is in canon since it’s reciprocal in every relationship and they’re both down for a poly. It’s fun, and I love the “Luka attempting to woo some of his love interests” plot going on in the background XD.

Chlobrina:
Tides of Time by JayJoy3000
Chloe, to her disdain, attends a prestigious university in London where she happens to run into her traitorous, ex-best friend who left Paris years ago without an explanation. But Sabrina is not the shy pushover she once was... Or, the one where Chloe Bourgeois absolutely does NOT spend months pining after Sabrina Raincomprix. No, that would be ridiculous. Utterly ridiculous.
I love how this fic handles Chloe, this is a Chloe who's realized her parents are crap and decided to try to be better, and made some real friends with Juleka and Luka (and seems to be on decently friendly terms with the rest of the class, but they don't come up much), but still has a ways to go, with not really understanding why Sabrina ghosted her, that Sabrina wasn't as happy as she thought.
Also at the beginning of the story Chloe still believes she's straight. Chloe is the ONLY one who believes Chloe is straight XD.
---
Hanahaki by @generalluxun
First fic: Late Bloomer
On what might very well be the last night of her life, Sabrina Raincomprix pulls out a very special scrapbook, pressed between the pages is the past, the past she has never shared with anyone. She relives how she got to this moment one page at a time, preparing herself for the end. A phone call interrupts her self-imposed exile and brings news that could change her life forever. Even if it does though the question looms... change it how?
I love this series, how it shows how both Sabrina and Chloe have changed, how bad Chloe's circumstances are, and how much she needs help. She's not in good shape when Sabrina reunites with her - she's got a pretty severe eating disorder, for one thing - and Sabrina can't just... leave things like they are.
I love the delving into of Chloe's and Sabrina's psychology and viewpoints, and them both growing as a result (this is solely from Sabrina's perspective, but Chloe's the focus of the plot, so you see a lot of her).

DJWifi:
Strangely Familiar by @sunfoxfic
Alya Césaire’s life is perfect. Indeed, between the success of the Ladyblog, how well she’s doing in school, and the fact that she’s a superhero who has never bore the weight of a crisis of epic proportions, her life almost couldn’t be better. Almost. But Alya has always been a go-getter, and so she’ll chase after that perfect life if it kills her. Which is how she ends up rushing to move out of her father’s apartment and in with Marinette, Adrien, and a complete stranger: Nino Lahiffe. And in fact, her life does seem perfect — she and Nino are fast friends. They spend a lot of time together and get to know each other really well. But in the end, fortunate situations will bear unfortunate truths, and she learns things about herself that aren’t quite comfortable. Like I said, though: Alya has always been a go-getter, and she won’t let new feelings deter her from chasing after her perfect life.
This is the single longest DJWifi-centric fic on AO3 (which is a travesty) and it is GLORIOUS. Alya and Nino are both well fleshed-out here, with their own problems and baggage they’re dealing with, but it’s easier together.
---
disconnected by just_an_ordinary_fan
Lady Wifi believes she might be the only one who does not want to obey Hawkmoth's orders. When she sees another akuma hesitate in the battle, she finds she might not be entirely alone.
I actually wrote my own fic, Nullius in Verba, based off of this one. It’s short but has an intriguing premise, with all the akumas being transported to this warehouse after the fight’s over, having been basically forced to do Hawkmoth’s bidding. The akumas also don’t seem to remember who they were before, or even that they WERE ordinary people before, which is an interesting twist.

Alyanette:
is it chill that you're in my head? by bringthestorm
Alya stared at the picture plastered across the homepage of every single tabloid and news site, whispering every curse she could think of under her breath. SHOCKING SECRET ROMANCE BETWEEN LADYBLOGGER AND PARISIAN SUPERVILLAIN REVEALED!!! the headline announced, casually shouting the words she had been dreading for all of Paris to read. --- Alya had always assumed that someday Paris would discover that she had secretly been kissing their most wanted vigilante, but she had never thought it would happen so soon. As the domino effects of her relationship with Ladybug go spiraling through her life, Alya turns her sights towards the one responsible: the elusive superhero Hawkmoth. AKA Someone outs Alya and her girlfriend so she retaliates by deciding to take down Hawkmoth
I recommend this to anyone who either A. Loves Alya and wants to see more of her in a starring role, or B., wants to see an AU where Parisians could feasibly believe that Hawkmoth is the good guy, and that Ladybug and Chat Noir are, if not villains, at least reckless.
---
the best laid plans (of bugs and bakers) by @mexicancat-girl
Paris is buzzing with the appearance of a new ladybug-themed hero, Scarabella. Alya decides to use her second hero identity to help her best friend Marinette. A bit of her flirting with Marinette is bound to make Marinette’s crushes jealous and finally ask her out! Her plan is fool-proof…! Except when it’s not. Not enough people are talking about Scarabella flirting with Marinette. How can Alya properly help her best friend if the news can’t be bothered to cover Marinette’s budding romance with Scarabella and only posts things about Marinette with Chat Noir?! So Alya puts her all into her plan, upping up her flirting each time she appears as the newbie hero Scarabella. This totally does not backfire in any way.
I adore fics that center on Alya, I haven’t exactly been shy about that fact. This is a nice one for some Alyanette adorableness! (And some Scarabella and Chat banter, I really enjoyed reading that as well). “Fake” flirting to make crushes jealous tends to turn real very quickly, and this is no exception. It’s hilarious, Alya’s the last one to figure out that her romantic relationship with Marinette is very much real XD.

Feluka:
Boomer!Luka: FeLuka Ending series by @19thsentry-blog
In the Shadows (the first fic in the series) summary:
On one side is Luka, 140-year-old Snake Miraculous holder and keeper of the Guardian's secrets, on the other is Marinette Dupain-Cheng, a relatively newly minted hero of Paris and Guardian of the Miracle Box. Each is looking to fulfill their promises to their now gone mentors to reunite the Kwamis and keep them safe. Sounds simple--until you throw in a rocky start, the Atlantic Ocean, Félix Graham de Vanily, and a whole host of secrets…and suddenly simple becomes complicated (story of Marinette's life, right?).
So this is obviously way outside my normal wheelhouse. I don’t typically read Lukanette fics, even ones that turn into FeLuka later on in the series (though boy it becomes apparent quickly that the author’s fascinated with FeLuka’s dynamic.) But this one is really good, with the best Luka-centric fics I’ve ever read, and some of the best Felix-centric content as well. I love how Luka has his own baggage here, with all the pressure of wandering around for over a century, looking after the few Miraculous he found, trying to keep what’s left of the Order alive, unaware of Fu’s survival or of the Miraculous user’s re-emergence in Paris. There’s a lot of focus on Luka’s own feelings and thoughts and problems, not just on helping other people with them.
The plot works even without the romantic aspect, so even if Lukanette isn’t a pairing that draws you in, I still recommend this fic, so long as you don’t actively dislike the pairing itself. And even though it’s a Lukanette fic, Adrien and Alya are treated fairly and with respect. Adrien may not end up with Marinette and is bummed about it, but the narrative is still kind to him overall, there’s clearly no ill well towards him, or Alya for that matter. (There are later fics in the series that focus more on Adrien just healing and coping and living after finding out that his father’s a villain and his mom’s been in the basement this whole time, and in the multiversal travel fic, Alya gets some standout appearances as Scarabella which are fun).
And FELIX - it’s clear that 19thsentry has this whole conception about Felix’s psychology. He’s wrapped in a ton of self-loathing until it started to consume him, made him lash out. Him being a sentimonster, wanting to get the Peacock Miraculous, actually gave him some direction for that at least. And he’s just in this pit of his own making, until he meets Luka, who can see through him when no one else can, who cares for him even though he doesn’t understand why, who’d been through so much over the years and yet kept himself kind. He’s attracted like a moth to a flame, infuriated that he cares, yet not able to stop himself from caring about this mysterious, infuriating musician.
Yeah if you can’t tell this is the series that really sold me on FeLuka as a couple.
Oh yeah, one of the fics in here is M-rated, and it does earn the M rating for sexual content, though it’s nothing too major.

See This Chance by @19thsentry-blog
Luka died in 2016. Yep. Crushed by the Arc de Triumph when Mayura’s Robustus slammed into it. It was kind of a big deal, but once you’re dead, you’re dead—especially when there’s no Lucky Charm to bring you back. Luka’s been dealing with it in the typical ways. Written for FeLuka week 2023.
Yes, this is FeLuka. Not one of the typical ships I read, but I ain’t opposed to it, and this is a nice foray into the pairing. I love ghost AUs! Luka’s just fumbling around, unsure what to do with his incorporeal existence, until he starts haunting Felix. It’s an intriguing plot and I gotta admit, I wish it was longer so it could be fleshed out more, but what’s here is good.

Come Take My Hand by @carelisswriting
Luka heard his soulmate for the first time when he was ten. All he knows about her is that she likes fencing. It's just a coincidence that Kagami likes fencing, right? (Lukagami Soulmate AU, written for the Miraculous Ladybug Secret Santa Exchange!)
I’m a sucker for soulmate fics, and this had an interesting take on it, with your soulmate able to hear you thinking only about the thing you’re most passionate about. Loved Kagami’s way of showing Luka she’s his soulmate especially!

Attack of the Crystal Zombies by @trainsinanime
Kagami had spent more and more time hanging out with Zoé, talking about things like families, expectations and crushes on Marinette. It was only natural, probably, that she would help Zoé practice flirting. That was definitely a great idea. Granted, the deadly Akuma battle around them was a bit of an issue…
Quality Zoegami fic here! I loved how Kagami kept thinking she was bad at flirting, but it was sure working on Zoe XD. The akuma attack going on around them, interweaving with their conversation, added a bit of spice to the whole affair!
---
All Of Them? Every Single One? by @liiinerle
It turns out that Marinette loves a lot more people than she’d initially thought.
This is hilarious and adorable. Tikki lays out how Marinette has a crush on basically every girl she’s met - and even girls she doesn’t know are girls yet XD.

Emotional Mountain Ranges by @liiinerle
After Zoé’s attempted romantic confession to Marinette is interrupted by an incensed Chloé and Audrey Bourgeois, she’s left distraught and adrift, a crying mess in an alleyway far from home. Ladybug saves her from the incoming akuma, and tries to help her back on her feet - and Zoé wonders what she could possibly have done to earn this much attention from a superhero…
Lovely Zoenette fic here! I especially like how Marinette talks to Zoe, reassures her that she’s good enough, that she (as Ladybug) isn’t as perfect and composed as she thinks, and just… tries to get Zoe to have more confidence in herself. It’s mostly from Zoe’s perspective too, which I like since there aren’t a lot of Zoe POV fics.

Swimming in Circles by @generalluxun
Life has moved on for Marinette Dupain-Cheng. She’s not where she thought she would be seven years ago, but she’s still in a good place. Classes, hobbies, friends, her life is full despite the lingering shades of her faded yet sweet middle-school romance. Then just as quick at the first time, someone drops into her life and turns her into an absolute mess once more. Love and crushes might be her undoing, but she’s got a little more experience this time to weather the storm. This fateful stranger stirs memories as well as emotions inside of her, and with a forthrightness her old self would be jealous of, Marinette takes the plunge.
So this is a Trans fic, with Marinette’s new crush being a trans version of a certain classmate who she doesn’t recognize, who’s changed a lot, for the better. I like how it deals with the baggage she has with that person, has her think that through.
---
Three’s company by @torvalvt
Kagami has been doing her best for years to ignore her feelings for her friends. It doesn’t help that Adrien and Marinette insist on spending as much time as possible with her, even going so far as inviting her along on their dates together. If only the affection she felt for them wouldn’t get in the way of their relationship. Because it is growing harder and harder to tamp down her feelings with how close they are getting to her.
This is adorable. Adrien and Marinette really want Kagami to join their relationship and she just doesn’t dare hope for it. If you want some adorable Adrigaminette from Kagami’s perspective, I recommend checking this fic out!

Stone Streak by kingxuppu
Ladybug and Violet Tigress had been fighting the mysterious Duskwing for eight years now. Through the years, the two have grown stronger together and even gotten married, they are waiting until they finally beat Duskwing to start a family. At least, that was the plan. When Juleka gets confronted with the realization that her friends are starting families of their own, she realizes just how badly she wants to be a mother.
Due to unfortunate circumstances, Juleka and Marinette get the chance to adopt Juleka's young modeling friend Adrien.
Maybe they aren't quite a traditional family, but with magic, rockstars, and fame, normal was never an option.
Via Discovery: There are actually two terms of venery for tigers, depending on the makeup of the group. The first is a streak of tigers and this refers to a female tiger and her cubs.
Now this is a rare pairing, there’s not a lot of Julenette fics! Adrien and Rose actually have some ship tease going on, the whole kid group in canon got broken up into two groups here, one that remained around canon age (so like 13) which notably consists of Chloe, Rose, and Adrien, and then I think everyone else are adults in their mid-twenties. It’s weird seeing Adrien as Marinette’s and Juleka’s son, but hey it works! I love how Juleka really showed Adrien the ropes on modeling and became a Mama tiger for him, the fic’s mostly just very sweet, though with a surprisingly dark final act.

In Direct Opposition by @generalluxun
Alya Cesaire is a brand new student to Francis Dupont, to Paris even. The first student she meets is one Chloé Bourgeois, and Alya is determined to make a friend. Things advance Chaotically. Her new 'friend' is definitely a handful, and suddenly Paris has a supervillain and two brand new superheroes! Alya finds herself balancing a lot of things, trying to live up to her ideals and those of her icons.
And then reality seems to contradict itself.
As time progresses it seems to happen more often. Becoming a hero, battling villains, staying alive, working through friendships. Something is lurking, tweaking events at times, changing them, and no one seems aware. Alya will need all her wits to get to the bottom of this. Her investigative mind can only get her so far though, and then she needs to rely on her friends. This is not a foe you can beat head on.
I betaed this entire fic, it’s really good! I adore the focus on Alya’s philosophy here, her determination to be a hero, to help people and defeat evil - and that defeating evil means trying to reform the people doing bad things when possible, to try to save EVERYONE, even the “villain”. I thought it was really clever the ways Alya would redirect Chloe and subtly encourage her to be a better person, while also trying to get the people around her to give her a second chance and keep an open mind.
Also Alya and Chloe are an adorable sapphic couple XD.

Herbs And Steam by @liiinerle
Juleka le Flor Blef, nature witch from near the forest of Couffaine, arrives at Eiffel Castle so she can partake in the Queen's Trials - a contest to determine the strongest witch in all of France. She wants to prove the strength of her magic, but when she arrives, her attention is quickly distracted by two very interesting women: Kagami, the princess, who seems to act nothing like a princess should; and Marinette, the blacksmith, who has created a magic all her own through metal, steam, and ingenuity. Juleka is immediately besotted with both of them, and needs to work extra hard to focus on her magic. Juleka also soon becomes aware that there is stronger magic at Eiffel castle than she had expected. For one thing, there's a tree in the courtyard put there years ago by a witch whose powers seem to surpass hers; for another, there's Alya la Pluvie Versaunt, who must be the most powerful mage Juleka has ever met...
Unusual poly here, there aren't a lot of Juleka/Kagami/Marinette fics! I love the world here, getting to see all these different witches honing their craft, and Juleka making friends with many of them - though especially the nonwitches Kagami and Marinette, of course XD. If you like some femslash or a good fantasy AU, this fic should scratch that itch!

Graveyard Love Series by @liiinerle
A brief two-parter series which chronicles what happens after Lila dies suddenly, and Marinette finds out that she's the one saved as Lila's emergency contact on her phone. In part one, Marinette seeks answers with Alya's help - and what she finds ends up testing their friendship. In part two, Alya seeks to rebuild their relationship - and perhaps build it into something more.
First fic in series: Absent Soul
Just for a moment, Alya seemed speechless, her eyes as wide as the hallway was long. “You’re really going to start to believe her now?” Marinette sighed. “It’s not her I believe. I just… I don’t think she could manage all… this if it was fake. And besides… me, her emergency contact? That’s too bizarre to be a lie.” Even more than that, it was too bizarre to be true. So what could Lila possibly hope to achieve? “I’m not sure I agree with you,” said Alya. “But I’m not gonna let you go this alone. And I’m pulling you away if I smell anything cooking.” The thing was, Marinette wasn’t sure she agreed with herself. Nothing made sense. Even just knowing more would help settle the tumult in her brain, which felt like it had been speeding up almost imperceptibly for every door she’d passed through since the balcony. --- Marinette suddenly learns that she's saved as Lila's emergency contact on her phone... the same day she learns that Lila has been in a fatal accident. She is then pulled through a week of responsibilities and discoveries she never imagined having before, and a growing fondness for someone she once hated.
So this is fascinating, I love how it explored the insanity of whatever bizarre situation Lila has going on. Marinette's great here, she doesn't understand why Lila did the things she did, or what her background truly was, but if she had no one else, then at least she has Marinette to make sure her remains are taken care of properly. Though perhaps to a worrying extent. Thankfully, Alya's here as well to give support, and perhaps an intervention if things go too far. The second fic in the series focuses around Alya giving that intervention, of a sort.

And Mark Ronson Can Get Stuffed by @liiinerle
Marinette gets a call from Vivica, Jagged Stone's guitarist, with a proposition. She wants a producer - and she's heard Marinette's the best one for the job. At least, that's what Jagged says, and well, the only real competition is Bob Roth... ... but Marinette still isn't prepared for the whirlwind of feelings she'll get spinning through her brain whenever she sees Vivica play. Or for the realisations she'll make about herself as she sits engulfed in a type of music that feels like it gets her, and gazes up at the angel who's holding the guitar.
So this is a RARE rare pair, I've never seen Vivinette before! Man though, is this a great first fic for the pairing! I love seeing Marinette's efforts to be the best producer she can be for Vivica, not totally realizing at first why she's so nervous and determined to be the best she can be for her... and then becoming all too aware of her feelings XD. I especially adore how enamored Marinette becomes with Vivica's songs, being deeply affected by them but unable to put her feelings into words well enough to give feedback.
---
Stop Time by @liiinerle
— she put her hand on the page, blocking it so the words wouldn’t scream so loudly at her. They had screamed more than enough already. Gritting her teeth, she pulled her fingers together, crumpling the paper slightly — just enough that it didn’t look so pristine and mocking. It needed to be full of despair, in every possible way. “Marinette —” started Mullo. “No! Never again. Marinette is… gone, forever.” She let go of the paper. Now it lay alone in the light, as the last thing she could ever tell them. That she loved them, that she’d miss them, that she would never talk to them again. A suicide note. Of sorts. ----- Fu accidentally names Marinette as the new guardian, and not Ladybug. She's forced to fake her own death and go into hiding in order to get away from Hawk Moth. She finds a hiding spot in the Louvre, but there she's forced to face the effects of her going away by a very unexpected source: her friend Alix.
Definitely mind the tags on this one! But if it ain't triggering to you, then I highly recommend reading it. You can really feel Marinette's struggles here, with basically making herself homeless, unable to reach out to her friends and family, needing to steal just to feed herself and the kwamis, and then dealing with everyone in her life grieving... and then moving on. Except for a few people who don't...
It's just... it's really good, really heart-wrenching.

The Only Love We Keep by @nemaliwrites
Zoé is used to wanting things she can’t have — loving people who do not love her back. She’s made peace with that. But as soon as she meets Scarabella, she’s a goner. Or, five times Zoé’s love wasn’t reciprocated, and one time it was.
I love this analysis of Zoe and her circumstances, her mindset, her philosophy based on how she's grown up. How she yearns for her mom to actually love her, but she just... doesn't. And how she finds friends who actually care for her, and someone who actually wants her.

The Black Cat of the Family by Anonymous
To Felix, Chat Noir is freedom. Pure freedom, unhindered by anything (well, except perhaps a little too much dedication to Ladybug). He goes where he pleases when he pleases. He acts so ridiculous, like no one was ever watching, even when everyone was watching. He chafes at orders and authority, even when the orders are coming from Ladybug herself. He's free to be whoever he wants, in a way Felix only wishes he could be. So of course he starts flirting with the catboy. It also doesn't hurt that the superhero is easy on the eyes. Chat Noir, meanwhile, is simply trying to figure out how to reject his cousin without revealing his own secret identity. But when has anything in his love life ever worked out for him? Or, in other words: Somehow the Fathom-Graham de Vanily-Agreste family becomes even more dysfunctional in brand new ways.
This was fun, I liked the natural way Chat caught Felix's attention with his kindness, wit, and hidden depths. It makes sense why Felix would slowly develop a crush on him, while Chat just thinks that he's having fun with his cousin.
Also Chat's reaction when he realizes that Felix is, in fact, confessing his crush on him, is just priceless XD.

Marinette Salt Prompts : Discordant Music and Unsettling Melodies
Prompt by @bloop24
The show portrays Luka as some kind of empath but with music. He says that Marinette is the clearest melody he’s ever heard or whatever, but if you really stuck with him being an empath he would have immediately felt something off with Marinette.
Instead of having a cute moment during their first meeting, Luka is friendly but distant. When he heard the song of her heart, he was left disturbed. At first there was nothing wrong with it, but the longer he listened the darker and more twisted it became. It was like it was trying to play a completely different melody, one he couldn’t make out. He was aware that Marinette was one of Juleka’s friends, so for now he kept quiet about her heart song but kept an eye on her. After everything settled down with his mom being akumatized another one of Juleka’s friends joined them. Adrien was nice and listening to his heart song he had a hidden wild side. When he turned to look at Marinette he noticed that her gaze intensely focused on not only Adrien but him as well, It was then he recognized the song that Marinette’s heart was trying to play. It was Adrien’s but a more warped version, it was like her heart song was desperately trying to match his. It didn’t take long to figure out that Marinette was infatuated with him.
Eventually Juleka noticed Luka’s wariness whenever Marinette came over. Luka was honest with his sister, and said that Marinette’s heart song was dark and twisted and how it tried to match Adrien’s. When he was done explaining his reasonings he noticed Juleka avoided looking at him and looked almost ashamed. She then explained that Marinette had more than a crush on Adrien with her having his schedule and even some of the plans she and the girls helped with.
Luka was left disturbed by this revelation, but also disappointed in his sibling, he knew Juleka had a hard time being confrontational often avoiding it, but to help essentially trick Adrien into going on a date without his consent with someone he might not even like was too far. He expressed his disappointment, but understood that she had hard time making sure she was heard. He made it clear that Marinette would only continue to drag her into things that were definitely not legal and that it would be best if she separated herself from her. Juleka agreed since she wasn’t comfortable with it from the beginning.
Juleka had pulled the girls aside to talk about Marinette and how she didn’t want to be apart of it anymore. Rose and Mylene hesitated while Alix readily agreed with how she was never for it to begin with, not caring much about the romance aspect. Alya tried to convince the girls that Marinette was just like that and did over the top things but none of the girls were having it. With Juleka vocalising her opinions, they no longer felt comfortable helping Marinette with any of her plans, and having reflecting on what they were doing it, they all agreed that they wouldn’t want someone doing what they were doing to them. In the end the all agreed to distance themselves from Marinette and not encourage her. Rose, Juleka, and Mylene weren’t very confrontational people so they made up excuses why they couldn’t hand out with her. Alix had no problem telling her that she didn’t feel like hanging out with her that day and Alya hung out with her but quickly made excuses to leave whenever she wanted to talk about making another plan to go on a date with Adrien.
With the girls change in behavior, the guys of the class quickly took notice of the distance and awkwardness between them, or more specifically between them and Marinette. Ivan had asked Mylene and Mylene not wanting to hide anything from him told him the truth of what was going on. Nathaniel asked Alix and she had no problem telling him everything that went down and Marinette’s behavior.
It wasn’t long before everyone knew about Marinette, everyone except Adrien, Chloe, and Sabrina. No one knew how to tell Adrien and no one wanted to really tell Chloe or Sabrina knowing they would make a big spectacle of it. Nino, not wanting his best friend to be in the dark any longer decided he wanted to be the one to tell him. They felt bad but they knew they had to get the adults involved. While they talked with Mrs. Bustier, Alya went to talk to Marinette’s parents. She was prepared for them not to believe her, After all, no parent wants to believe the worst of their child. She told them everything while also encouraging them to go up to her room and look around. She had told them about the pull out schedule and the chest of presents she had.
As the days passed, Marinette was left confused. Her girlfriend’s always seemed to be busy nowadays, not handing out as much as they used to, and even the guys seemed to be at a distance whenever she tried to talk with them for schoolwork and such.
When she got home she was greeted with an unpleasant surprise. Her parents had gone through her things in her room and found her schedule for Adrien along with the chest of presents and photos under her bed. They scolded her and told her that she could get into serious legal trouble. They then grounded her, taking away her phone and computer. She wasn’t allowed to go anywhere and after school she was to come straight home.
To make matters worse, when she went to school the next week, she learned she was moved to another class and would be monitored in case she tried to go near Adrien. Her friends wouldn’t even talk to her and the few that would would give an excuse to leave. She didn’t even see Adrien even anymore and when she did he would quickly run away. Marinette didn’t understand, what went wrong?
Too distraught with emotion, Marinette did not see the akuma apporaching her, getting closer and closer...

Homeless Chloe AU Draft
Version 1 - 01/2025
By @the-lost-lights and @generalluxun (with a sizable contribution from the various people that asked questions about it).
Chloe, following the loss of the Bee Miraculous and arrival of Zoe to Paris, runs away from home because she feels that she’s been replaced by a “better version of her” and that nobody needs or will miss her.
The sad part is that she’s not entirely wrong: Andre is too busy to realize that she ran away from home, thanks to Lila nearly everyone at school thinks that she’s on an expensive holiday (and Adrien and Marinette also believe her, if only because it would be in-character for her to go on an expensive holiday without saying anything to anyone) and only Sabrina and Zoe realized that she’s gone and are trying to find her without much luck.
Two months later and she’s barely hanging on as a homeless in the streets of Paris and her mental state worsens with each passing day. One day she stumbles upon an Akuma fight and Ladybug saves her but fails to recognize her. This causes Chloe to snap.
With her sanity damaged, Homeless!Chloe starts to hallucinate all the people she knows telling her that she’s worthless and nobody cares about her and the best thing she could do is throw herself in the Seine and die since she has nothing to live for. One month later after the Ladybug incident she almost does so but right before she jumps she realizes that despite everything she still wants to live, only for the Hallucination of Zoe to “push” her into the Seine. Before she can drown the currents bring her towards the Couffaine houseboat, where Anarka fishes the unconscious teen out of the waters and brings her to an hospital.
At the hospital the doctors who threat Chloe realize who she is and contact the police, who then contact Andre and ask him why the hell his daughter, who had disappeared from the public for three months ended up in the Seine. Andre, who didn’t even realize that his daughter was gone, freaks out and tries to cover his ass, only for the police threatening to charge him with child neglect and taking Chloe away from him and send her to her mother. As this happens, Chloe starts to freaking out and telling everyone that she doesn’t want to stay with her mother and Zoe because they will hurt and kill her and Anarka, in a well intentioned move that might bite her in the ass in the future, takes her out of the hospital, brings her to her houseboat and essentially adopts her.
The first days as a Couffaine aren’t easy for Chloe, not because she hates the houseboat (after three months living on the streets she’s fine in staying anywhere that isn’t a dumpster) but rather because she’s not doing fine mentally (constant hallucinations that tell you that she’s worthless and should die will make anyone insane) physically (she’s too thin, has various illnesses and ended up in the Seine, which clearly didn’t do good for her already precarious health) and lots of thrust issues, but her new family tries to make her feel better in any way possible.
Anarka at one point gives her a rescue cat that she names Pollen, like her former Kwami. They get along very well and she brings it everywhere she goes because it helps her calm down.
Following the disappearance of Chloe from the hospital, Andre manages to “persuade” (aka corrupts the higher ups) the police to stop the investigation against him and instead focus on finding his daughter and in the meantime covers up her disappearance with a public announcement that Chloe has been transferred into an exclusive school in Switzerland. Meanwhile Zoe and Sabrina decide to continue their search for Chloe by themselves and eventually they’re joined by Adrien and Alya (the former because he’s starting to be worried about the radio silence from her friend and the latter because she realized that something fishy was going on).
I’m still working on what will happen next but I have plans for Chloe to go back to school under a fake identity and bonding with the members of Kitty Section, plus a couple of ideas about Monarch trying to akumatize her and Zoe discovering where Chloe is and being divided between bringing her home or let her stay with her new family.

Daminette Fic Recs
So it looks like my posts are getting too big for Tumblr lol
I'll now be separating them a bit more and will have to make multiple parts for each post.
Link to Part 2
Updated 11/2/24
Marinette Dupain-Cheng/Damian Wayne
She’s Sunshine, She’s Grace, She’ll Punch You in the Face by Brinxiethebear *Finished*
~Marinette struggles to stay happy nowadays but what better way to change your mood than with a change of location? Adrien gave up his miraculous so he could start fresh. After all, his dad was in prison for being the super villain Hawkmoth and his other caretaker Nathalie died from over use of a broken Miraculous. So now Marinette is the guardian of the miraculous. ~
for us to collide by LadyLiterature *Finished*
~The story of Marinette stumbling upon the illustrious Wayne family over and over again, as well as the more infamous Bats, over the course of her many visits to Gotham. She, of course, charms the whole lot of them and finds that the same is true in the reverse.~
A Robin and His Lady by ProudGeek4Ever *Finished*
~Marinette lost her friends to Lila, Adrien was long forgotten and Chat Noir kept getting more irresponsible. Being a teenage superhero was stressfull, but Marinette's life takes a turn for the better when a chance meeting in Gotham changes everything. Damian changes everything.~
No, Mr. Wayne, You Can't Adopt Me! by ggomoz (ggomo_springtime) *Finished*
~Bruce's personal assistant is scarily competent---she seems to know the best decision at each time, predict emergencies, and is an expert at handling all of his children. But what if there's more to her than meets the eye?~
More Than One Secret by Tyshian  *Finished*
~Marinette Dupain-Cheng has Secrets. Damian Wayne has Secrets. The pair together have Secrets.~
Reunions are... interesting if you’re a Todd by crazyjc *Finished*
~Alright, this is based on laraceleste's Tell Me More where Jason Todd is Marinette’s big brother with one exception—Marinette didn’t know where Jason was after she was adopted until after he died when she was ten. They were apart for three years here, as GCPD got her at 7.~
It's Just Indifference by dontyoublink *Finished*
~Marinette thought she would just get some inspiration for her designs when she headed to the park. As luck would have it, she also meets four (interesting? unique? slightly insane?) Americans. Frisbee, ice cream, and much-needed conversations ensue.~
World's Greatest Detectives, My Ass by Appleberry84 *Finished*
~Marinette figures out the Batfam's identities and decides to torture them.~
Leave it Behind by ShannonEsmerelda *Finished*
~Marinette Dupain-Cheng has grown tired of Paris, and the miracle box was no longer safe there. It'd been active in the country for too long, seen too much damage. She needed to find a place for both her and the kwami's to heal, while still having the ability to be a hero. So, why not Gotham? The city had enough crime for both her and the bat family without getting in each others way, right? Right?~
Report to HR by SimplyAnotherWriter  *Finished*
~Look; Bruce liked Marinette. If the girl hadn’t already had loving and adoring parents that had spotless records and nothing incriminating about them whatsoever(Bruce had checked long and hard), he probably would have adopted the girl just like he had the others.
However, things wouldn't remain this perfect if Damian continued to try and mess it up by SCARING the poor girl!~
The Sun Who Lit Up The Night Sky by FandomQueen10325, leaping_lizard_babe *Finished*
~4 months after the defeat of Hawkmoth, the akuma class wins a trip to Gotham. While they are there, Marinette keeps attracting bad luck, and can never seem to stay out of trouble. The Batfam is very interested when they learn about what had happened in Paris, so they question ladybug.~
Travels of Passion by StarShine583 *Finished*
~When people as famous as the Waynes come to visit your city, the most you'd expect to get from them is a quick little smile. A hand shake if you're in the right place at the right time and extremely lucky. Marinette didn't really expect to get either, and she certainly didn't expect to get what she actually got.~
Of Birds and Bugs (revising and rewriting) by orphan_account *Finished*
~Marinette was a busy girl. Between her idol work as NeTi, and her duty as Ladybug, it was hard to do everything else, like being a good class president. Still, she was able to pull through.
Somehow, the class get's a trip to Gotham, sponsored by Bruce Wayne himself, and it looked like Marinette would be able to take a break for once.~
Dinner at Wayne Manor by littlefleetinglight *Finished*
~In the front hall standing in a line was Bruce, Dick, Jason, Tim and Damien; in that orders, with Alfred standing in front of them like an officer in front of his troops.
“Now, when Ms.Marinette arrives there will be no inappropriate language, no crude gestures or noises, and there will be no interrogation. Do you gentlemen understand?”~
#SunshineOfGotham by sixtyeightdays *Finished*
~All of Gotham knows Marinette, the Sunshine who's made her way into everyone's hearts. But so what if all of Gotham knows Marinette? Does her class know that they know Marinette? Of course not, why would they! But, well, let's see how they find out.~
Rockin’ the House by littlefleetinglight *Finished*
~It was another charity gala held by the Wayne Family; this one was raising funds for art programs across the world, and because it was for art there were artists of all types from all over, including the famous Rock’n’Roll artist Jagged Stone…and his guest.~
To marry an Assassin by PL_Panda *Finished*
~Marinette wakes up in a cell and later is forced to marry a member of the League of Shadows, who is also less than willing. Exactly what she was pulled in? And of course there is magic involved, so no cancellation. And apparently in Tibet ancient orders can marry minors off just like that. This was definitely not Damian's day. Or Week. Or month. He got married with a random girl...~
Who Needs Words? by AKP31E *Finished*
~After the defeat of Hawkmoth and the retirement of Suhan, Marinette’s life is just getting crazier. She doesn’t know how a soulmate could ever fit into her life, and sometimes she thinks the two letters on her wrist are just the universe’s joke to her, but she knows better than to bank on it. Her soul mark isn’t even a word. Who is going to say “Tt” to her?~
History Repeats by DesertSnowQueen  *Finished*
~When Kitty Noire makes an appearance in Gotham, she finds herself drawn to a certain little bird whose brothers are far too entertained by this turn of events~
Magical Girl by Judysupremus
~Marinette accidentally portals into the batcave.~
The Power of Luck by FridayFirefly
~The Ladybug Miraculous had quite a few side effects, none more powerful and unpredictable than the power of Miraculous Luck. When Marinette's family relocates to Gotham, Marinette finds her Miraculous Luck leading her down a path she never would have expected, a path that leads straight to Damian Wayne.~
The events on a Saturday Morning by orphan_account *Finished*

serendipity by keeptellingyourselfthat *Finished*
~The last time Damian AL-Ghul saw Marinette was when they were twelve. He didn't think he would see her again. So, it's a huge surprise when he stumbles upon her in WE while exposing the liar of the class from France.~
In The Wrong Bed? by San_fics  *Finished*
~“Like I said,” Jason yawned. “Eventually everyone in this family goes crazy.”
“I'm not crazy!” Damian protested. “She was here!”
“Maybe you just had a very realistic dream?” Dick suggested.
“I’m perfectly capable of distinguishing dreams from reality, thank you very much!” Snapped Damian. “She was real and she was in my bed!”~
Cat Cursed by TheStarfishAlien *Finished*
~The Cheng family carries a curse. Every other generation carries a second form, that of a cat. Their dual nature makes it difficult for those with the curse to fit in with society. Some flee permanently into the form of the cat, while others try their hardest to pretend that their cat form does not exist. Very few find a balance in the middle.~

She wasn't ready for her life to change drastically because of it.~
A Welcoming Change by Brinxiethebear *Finished*
~Damian Wayne always saw himself in a certain light. He was calculating and cold and he always took his work seriously. He was what others would call the Ice Prince. He was a loner and by choice. The only people he ever really tolerated talking to was his family and his only friend, Jon. Mainly he just spent time with his pets.~
Never alone by Alexiessan *Finished*

Contrary to her belief, Marinette was never alone.~

Four times the Ladybug magic teleported Marinette to where she would be safest, and the one time she was already there by EditorOfEverything *Finished*

The Bug, the Bird and the Bats by whoscountinganyway *Finished*

“Lit,” Richard repeats. “Isn’t that what you kids call it, with the music and dancing…?”
“I don’t follow. The video had rather dim lighting, if you asked me.”~
Freezing Fate by boldlyanxious *Finished*

chapter 3: December
chapter summary:
“Has that been happening a lot?” Adrien asked quietly. “Your dad, getting sick like that?”
Felix’s eyes trailed slowly back over to him, face impassive.
“Yeah.”
“Me too. Well, with my maman, I mean.”
Felix’s eyes went wide, and he sat up quickly. He looked at Adrien, alarmed.
“Your mum?” He asked frantically. “Adrien, your mum’s been getting sick?”
excerpt:
It was snowing outside and Adrien couldn’t remember the English word for “exhausted.”
“Try again,” said his tutor, Mr. Ferrel, in bored English. Frown lines creased along his brow. “Tell me about your ambitions. Why don’t you tell me how you feel about your exciting modeling opportunities, Adrien?”
Big fluffy snowflakes kept getting stuck to the tall windows on the other side of his room, painting his periphery in white. He thought distantly of old winters when he was little, when he’d beg to go lay down in the snow and make angels.
“I have many ambitions,” Adrien began, trying to translate and conjugate the English verbs before they left his mouth. “I like to be a student because I like reading and learning new subjects. It is very interesting. Now, I spend many time modeling, so this is one of my ambitions too.”
His English lessons had doubled in length recently, ever since Adrien had made a fool of himself in last week’s Teen Vogue interview. When asked about school, he’d mentioned that he was studying two languages, and flubbed the bit of English he’d been prompted to demonstrate. Adrien didn’t mind the extra lessons so much—he really did like learning languages—but by the end of the three hours, his brain was always swimming in words.
“Much time modeling,” Mr. Ferrel corrected. “Or ‘a lot of.’ Not ‘many.’”
“Sorry,” Adrien responded. “I do much time modeling—”
“It’s ‘spend,’ not ‘do.’” Mr. Ferrel frowned. “‘Doing time,’ in English, makes it sound like you are in prison. I believe you are supposed to like modeling.”
“I like it.” Adrien’s cheeks burned. “I like spending a lot of time modeling—”
The door to his bedroom flew open, saving him from further embarrassment, and Adrien and Mr. Ferrel both turned their heads. Maman glided through the doorway like a glimmer of light. She was dressed casually, in simple black jeans and a thick white sweater, her golden hair braided loosely to the side. A bright smile lit up her face.
“Adrien, darling!” she cried. “Come downstairs, it’s time!”

Regarding the “Is Marinette a Stalker?” post, I want to say thank you! Because I did something like Marinette and self-doubted my younger-self’s actions. A bit of context, I’m (37 y/o, female) one of the many adults that loved MLBCN when it started airing. When I came disappointed at the show by S4, I turned to the fandom to look out for fanfics, and was surprised by the salty side.
Don’t get me wrong, I kinda get the why’s and the reasons, and even though I enjoyed a Mari-salt fic titled “The Schedule” (iirc), I… sorta felt ashamed at myself? When I was 19, I fell in love with this guy, and it seemed that he liked me too. Our university had a system only for students where we could do lots of administrative stuff, like choosing our classes. At my time, there used to be a search tool on it to look out for our classmates’ schedules; in my curiosity, I searched for his just to see if we shared free periods. (Btw, today I do feel that it was wrong that my university had that function).
At my defense, after finding my crush’s schedule, I also searched for my friends’, just so I could organize with them to set up a table for our LAN parties. At the end my feelings weren’t reciprocated, my heartbreak ocurred close the next semester’s start, so I searched his schedule one more time, but just to avoid having classes with him.
When I read that Mari having Adrien’s schedule was “stalker behavior” I was like “OMG, was I a stalker? And worse, I was legally an adult!”, but I can’t remember my friends being creeped out by me. I don’t know if it is a subject whose meaning has evolved as time went on, or maybe it can change according to our different cultural/countries’ POV. But we do crazy stuff when we are young-adults, and worse when we are adolescents, add first love/crush feelings, and well… (just look at Hey, Arnold!’s Helga, she had it bad for Arnold and went to do stuff that by today’s standards is a serious case of bullying).
If the issue is the “breach of privacy” and the “3 years”, well, the first one isn’t touched on the show, maybe Mari got the pattern by observation, or Alya helped by asking Nino, or maybe even Chloe said something loudly, or my personal fan-favorite: as Class Rep, Marinette has access to that information to make easy her duties! And as for the second issue, they are 13-14 years old, my bet is that if their school makes fixated schedules for its students, so it wouldn’t be difficult to guess Adrien’s schedule for the next 3-years, and since his father was Marinette’s favorite designer, she might have followed his seasons releases, and might been easy for her to add it to Adrien’s schedule.
I want to clarify that I’m not looking to invalidate people’s feelings about this, or saying that they are wrong. In the end, we all must remember that Marinette is just a fictional adolescent character in a cartoon show, and cartoons will exaggerate actions just for the sake of the plot. We don’t like something about the characters’ actions and/or personalities? We teach and explain to the children why is wrong; and as adults, we tell ourselves to be wary if anything about it is in our daily actions, so we don’t fall into the “hating something that is a reflection of us” projection.
I like to think that I was a good adolescent and young adult that didn’t do anything morally or ethically bad, so it really freaked me out that part of the Marinette salt fandom. So, a thousand thanks! And sorry that your friend, cousin and you had to deal with that stuff.
(Post this ask is in reference to)
Before we get started, I wanted to say that your university having that feature seems incredibly dangerous. Most people are going to use it the harmless way that you did, but boy does that have the potential for misuse. Way better to let students decide if they want to share schedules on their own.
Anyway, while I will absolutely agree that the show occasionally takes Marinette too far, leading me to understand why her behavior bothers people, I think that biggest issue in her writing is actually something you sort of brought up:
I fell in love with this guy, and it seemed that he liked me too.
It sounds like you had some sort of relationship with your crush and that makes a world of difference to how your actions are going to be perceived by others. Checking the schedule of a guy you don't know? Kinda creepy. Checking the schedule of your friends including the friend you have a crush on? Normal.
Let's look at a personal example to show you what I mean. When I was in high school, I learned parts of my crush's schedule. On my way to lunch, I would purposely walk by the area where he hung out so that I could say "hi" to him as I walked past.
This statement probably raises some questions in your mind like how did I learn that he'd be there? The answer is incredibly innocent. I learned that part of his schedule by accident because his hangout spot because was also my hangout spot during my free periods. I just happened to go by one day to see a different friend and ran into him, thereby learning a bit of his schedule. After that, I took path A to lunch instead of path B because they took the same amount of time and I liked seeing him for two seconds every day.
It's also worth noting that we had the same hangout spot because we had a mutual friend group! We were in the same small club and spent a lot of time together. We even hung out together outside of school and club activities. We eventually dates for several years because he asked me out! So when I said, "hi" to him every day, it didn't shock anyone or creep him out because I wasn't some random girl. I was a friend taking a moment to acknowledge his existence before going about the rest of my day.
An additional mitigating detail is the fact that I could have told you details about several platonic friends' schedules because that's just what happens when you know people and pay attention to their lives. We all know random crap about the people we care about. Crushes simply enhance your attention, making you way more aware of everything you do, say, or think about this person. That heightened attention might make you feel creepy at times, but that feeling doesn't automatically make you creepy. It's more complicated than that. The details of the situation matter because there's a ton of nuance around this topic. Nuance that actually makes it hard to give examples because this stuff can be incredibly personal. What person A find cute and charming is a hard no for person B.
That nuances goes beyond crushes on people you're close with. For example, you don't need to stop going to your favorite coffee shop because the new barista is cute! You are not stalking them by maintaining your usual habits! You're not a bad person for experiencing attraction toward a person who is working! It only gets weird if you start crossing social boundaries like if you start asking them on a date every time you see them even though they are very clearly uninterested and you've never actually talked to them beyond simple pleasantries.
This is where we circle back to Miraculous.
While the early seasons of Miraculous gave Adrien and Marinette a few moments of friendship like playing games together in Gamer, those moments quickly stopped. By season three, they barely interacted. This happened for an obvious reasons. Miraculous is an episodic formula show in almost the purest sense of those terms. The writers have made it clear that the episodes are designed so that they can be watched in any order leading to all sorts of weird moments like Felix telling Marinette that Gabriel is Monarch only for her to act like this is new information in the next episode. This was explicitly done so that people who missed the first reveal didn't feel left out:
Talking about previous episodes, [the writers] then say that... the 5 last episodes of season 5 (Collusion - Revolution - Representation - Conformation - Recreation) go together and there is a direct continuation between them. (However, one of their rules as Miraculous writers is that these episodes can also be watched and understood independently.)
This ridiculous rule* means that the on-screen relationships can't develop and grow as that makes the show feel too serialized. This limitation meant that Adrien and Marinette could NOT become functional friends with a developing relationship as that would require a certain viewing order. The same was true for Ladybug and Chat Noir's relationship. They could not become stronger over time. They had to stay stagnant.
Without those friendships, Adrienette was reduced to being all about Marinette being unable to function around Adrien and Ladynoir was reduced to being all about Chat Noir flirting relentlessly while Ladybug constantly shot him down. The only side of the square that was allowed to be a true friendship was Marichat because they could interact without it leading to a romance since they weren't in love, which is a major problem since Adrienette is what became canon in spite of it having the substance of unset jello. How are we supposed to ship a couple that never knowingly interacted???
This inability to have developing relationships is why the writers wrote Marinette more like a fangirl than a friend with a crush. But fangirl behavior only plays well when there's a level of separation between the fan and the object of their affections. The fan can't actually know their crush because that makes the fan feel creepy and weird. This is Marinette's main problem. The thing that understandably turns a lot of viewers off. The way her crush is written simply doesn't fit the story canon is going with.
If Marinette and Adrien had been written as true friends and were allowed to have more of those early show moments where they did non-romantic things together, then Marinette would come across light-years more relatable than she does in canon even if her actions didn't change.
It's not that Marinette never has questionable moments, she absolutely does! It's just that a lot of those moments are only questionable because of the nature of her relationship with Adrien. They would all feel wildly different if Adrien was her close friend or boyfriend.
To see what I mean, think about how much less creepy it would have been if Marinette claimed to have Adrien's schedule after she and Adrien started dating. Your instant assumption becomes that he gave it to her! You also have the addition of Gabriel's controlling nature to mitigate the way Marinette's rickshaw date plan comes across. It goes from awkwardly over-the-top to sweet because she's just trying to find a way to spend a few minutes with her boyfriend whose life is too controlled to allow for proper dates. Same exact episode setup, wildly different read because context matters.
It really is sad how much the writing failed Marinette because it's normal to be a little weird around your crush. Wanting to get to know them better and spend time with them is completely understandable and common behavior! But the writers didn't just decide to keep Marinette and Adrien from being good friends. They also decided to give Marinette an active running gag of trying and failing to confess. This gag requires her crush to be extremely active while the show's formulaic nature meant that the crush could never have true progress. This lead to the show constantly putting Marinette in awkward positions and questionable situations. It's a terrible call if your goal is to actually tell a romance. They would have been way better off to make Marinette shy and afraid to confess as a contrast to Chat Noir's bold flirting. The most I'd do in that setup is to let her have the occasional secrete admirer thing where she leaves Adrien a gift or sends him a note like we saw in The Bubbler. That way a much stronger way to play Marinette's crush.
*Quick note: status quo rules are fine in shows that don't have overarching plots, but Miraculous is a romance with an overarching plot. Both of those elements require you to have some level of serialization to your story. I recently used ABC's Castle as an example of this. Almost every episode it a unique murder mystery, but the characters' relationships progress over time. There are also several plot lines that run through the show, leading to a handful of episodes that do need to be watched in order. Notably, all of the major status quo changes happen in that handful of serialized episodes. This is the type of show that Miraculous needed to be for its main story lines to work.

Featuring level 99 plate of corn analysis
I wonder what gets posted in the pig channel, like cutesy things?
Aurore :))))))) the children yearn for her getting screen time. Where is Mirelle
Ok so Aurore is genuinely interested in meteorology as a science and wasn’t competing in s1 to just become a TV personality
I’m getting a hunch influencer!Chloe is part of some larger akuma-baiting plan. Like she’s running competitions and showcasing her “rich perfect life” to potentially make people upset. I feel like Zoo is run by Tomoe since she was pretty much responsible for Alliance, which had the goals of invasively collecting data and making people doomscroll. This feels like the same exact thing, take 2. Vincent did an ad for her cars in revelator, and he might be in on this too.
It’s called Zoo because all the channels are named after animals get it get it?
Chloe lists off the names of miraculous animals who aren’t allowed to compete as their icons show up on screen, but she says unicorn instead of goat. Huh (maybe she’s biphobic. Sorry)
I like that Alec has a huge afro wig now, it feels more in tune with his backstory
Yeowch imagine scrolling and a news report about your father’s death shows up
I want to know what Adrien was texting Juleka about. Meow meow to meow meow communication
LMAOOO his messages to Marinette bro was infodumping. Purely one-sided yapping. I guess this lines up with what she says later about not knowing what to write in response to his perfect texts
r/malelivingspace fr he’s so unsure about his identity he can’t even decide on a wall color. In revelator we see him in front of the same wall but it had like teal and yellow swatches. Idk if he’s still deciding or if it’s gonna be like “what if my wall was a messy splatter of different colors and I didn’t have to choose just one”
TIKKIS LITTLE TEA SET oh me oh myyyyy
Gina lore also what could Marinette possibly be doing with her stuffed cat and potted plant
Why does a Reblochon pancake actually sound kinda good
Adrien: Nathalie probably isn’t going to like my pancakes 🥺 Nathalie: oh thank fucking god they taste like real food instead of chalk and nightmares
The garden hose scenes made me laugh out loud each time, they didn’t get old. Ily gorilla
They’re so cute but also that one couple in high school that has you like is this allowed wtf is that allowed
Adrien’s kinda eating in that bike helmet with his bangs in the wind
Tf is Ray posting about to be in second place
Nora is in 3rd and in 4th place is uh… chlorine? Nice to see people so interested in chemistry!
Diane seems really sweet but I have to wonder if it’s fr or if she’s secretly one of those aggravating out-of-touch people iykwim. Luck is obviously written all over her and she pretty much tells Aurore later like oh I’m only winning because I’m lucky haha see all my posts are so stupid yet everyone loves them! which is what makes her snap. I guess my question is if she’s well intentioned yet insensitive or if she’s an undercover mean girl
AURORES OUTFIT oh peak character design the sunny dress covered by the cloudy transparent raincoat? And her mismatched gold smily sun and silver frowny flower earrings? The bits of curly hair in front of her ears look like lightning bolts
Gorilla on the scooter serving Paul Blart realness
Aglae you’re so cute please don’t be Lila you little emo boy from Whoville
She’s wearing like goth oxfords with socks with ghosts on them? She has one of those “tattoo” chokers but there’s an animation error in one moment where it looks much thicker. Her hoodie has a paint splotch design and her leggings do as well in a tie dye way or maybe it’s supposed to look like they’re ripped?
Why are they posed up like the iconic Marc and Nathaniel love at first sight scene is something yurious occurring
Interesting attention to detail that Aurore sucks at makeup and is one of the only girl characters not wearing any
Oh did Aglae like, smirk sinisterly in the split second before she hugged Aurore and told her she was too nice to do anything underhanded or am I seeing things
Girl why is Manon at big kid school? I didn’t realize school for all ages meant literally fully integrated that sounds… unhelpful. And every single other character we’ve seen at school so far is a teenager.
Marlena teaching cooking class as if she doesn’t have a full time job already
Adrien how do you even mess up using a piping bad that badly
I need a full 360 on the design of that poetry teacher she looks like Professor Plum
Juleka, Rose, and Ivan are all in that class and have been shown to write poems/their own lyrics, but Luka isn’t. Headcanon Luka is bad at lyrics?
Guys great news Ivan still has an eyebrow slit, it’s just a lot smaller and harder to see. He’s also wearing a necklace made out of metal beads. His miraculous might be missing (animation error) and he still has bleached bangs.
Ok I had to double check to make sure I’m not crazy but Nathaniel’s hair is like, brown now, right? Or at least way faded. I had to turn back to the intro where his hair is bright red again and Alix is next to him… *remembers trading card lore* hmmmm I think I see where this is going.
I was gonna leave it at that ^ but then I remembered some of you will have no clue what I’m talking about so. There’s a piece of trivia that Alix dyes Nathaniel’s hair so I’m saying his hair faded because she’s been gone too long and she’ll fix it when she comes back. I’m predicting this will be the main plot of his focus episode
As soon as I saw Ondine is was like :0 👉 ONDINE!!!! She’s so gorgggg she’s finally allowed to wear normal clothes. Ondine my queen I love you and I can’t wait for your episode I’m so glad you’re part of the squad and kind of important now. If they ever need a substitute miraculous holder she’s probably at the top of the list.
Oh hi Marc. Wait are your legs clipping into the ground? It’s kind of funny that the whole gang is crowded around one table while Marc and Nath are taking up an entire big table for just the two of them
They’re eating a refined smear of orange sauce for lunch (jk I know they’re done eating)
Zoe’s phone case and screensaver are her shoe design. They all have more unique cases now ig, Aurore’s in blue with white clouds and Diane’s is pink with green clovers.
Hot take Kim was valid for asking Aglae if she thinks Aurore was about to get akumatized. That was a perfectly important and relevant question.
Also Kim has stud earrings now, I first noticed that in revelator
lmao “I know what you need, a tall glass of water!” “…Buh-” 😧👉🥛
Oh wow the food pyramid poster in the nurses office seems to be organized like the hierarchy of needs with carbs on the bottom, then veggies (vitamins), then proteins, then sweet treats. Then exercise and drinking water are drawn below the pyramid. That’s actually a pretty nice design. See this is the plate of corn content I promised you all
The drills. The lightning crown. The stormcloud skirt with neon lightning cracks… peak. If Aurore knows how to do one thing, it’s slay. Reminder that akumas “design” their own costumes
Glad to see the school is confirmed to actually have an elevator btw
The 2D wow
Oh my that train cataclysm scene was epic. Sure is lucky there was nobody on it during all that! I’m glad to have cool fight choreography again because last season it was starting to feel kinda like they just beat up the villain in 5 seconds out of obligation and left. I hope we’ll get some cool lucky charms again
Ohhhhh people have been saying that Lila hasn’t outright requested the miraculous yet before this. Omg she’s only doing it *after* the akuma gets what they originally wanted so it feels like a fair follow-up deal. Rather than expecting them to pledge allegiance to her on a gamble that they may or may not get what they want. The braincells
Episodes since the Eiffel Tower has last been personally victimized: 0
I guess they can just automatically use power ups now? Is this part of having adult powers or do they like eat a handful of special macarons every morning just in case
She has neon corset lacing on the back of her dress
Markov is now a tiny fella who snaps into Max’s wristwatch. I miss his old design because it was really cute but this new concept is pretty cool
Pegasus has been carrying this season so far what. First transformation of the season this is his show now. Miraculous tales of Pegasus
The choreography is like the same but cooler. Such small changes make it so much more visually interesting to follow like how it pauses on his shoes and chest to highlight the more interesting details of his suit, and how the horseshoe boomerang swivels in with a lightning swoosh effect. The Just Dance icons at the bottom are fun.
Did you know Just Dance has a map of the miraculous theme song where the coaches are cosplaying lb and cn? I recently found that out. I also recall one time Alya and Nino were playing a game that’s basically Just Dance in the show. Rest in piss Gabriel Agreste you would have loved Lida
Ok yeah Pegasus saved the tourists but realistically they would still take serious fall damage. I guess his portals somehow magically decelerate them so they’re ok.
Chloe degaf about this contest she’s so over it like ugh I guess you won whatev
Aurore considers Marinette and Adrien to be her friends
Oh so now you care about the book again
*Aurore putting a picture of Claudie on a hear me out cake* Max: THATS MY MOM
I see Lila is also doing that “next time…” 😈 shit Gabriel used to do before he realized that statistically it probably will um not be next time or the time after that either
I guess the ladybug community is the peace and love one where nothing toxic happens ever or something
People have pointed this out a long time ago but the merry go round is now filled with seats designed after the miraculous animals :)
If you gave Adrien the goat miraculous he wouldn’t even have powers he’d just turn into a black widow type of superhero
Marinette: I’m gonna be mature and let Adrien live his life! Marinette two episodes later: now who the fuck is that and why hasn’t he introduced her to me how do they know each other
RIP Adrien you would’ve loved Apple by Charli XCX
“Why doesn’t Sublime assume Adrien is jogging for sport, a totally normal thing to do in a park?” bro he’s wearing skinny jeans
Astruc or someone please tell us Diane, Aglae, and Ondine’s last names for tagging reasons please
Ok that’s all for now folks, see you after El Toro de Piedra probably!

Regardless of Perfection: An Adrinette Fic, featuring Félix 4.5K Words; Rated G for General Audiences
Adrien is dumbfounded. His knee is glued to the floor and his hands poised in front of him, as still and unmoving as his heart, stopped in his chest and aching as it fails to function. He can feel the eyes of every patron in the restaurant, staring with the same shock and confusion he feels.
“No?” he manages to squeak out, not even believing the word as it leaves his lips.
But Marinette has aggressively slammed the velvet box closed. Her face is already pink, hastily turning red, and Adrien can see tears in her eyes as she shoves his hands away with so much aggression that she near topples him over.
“Don’t—” she manages to say, and, “You can’t—” but she can’t seem to find words anymore easily than he can. She stands up and runs from the restaurant, linen napkin falling to the floor.
Adrien is only vaguely aware of the waiter helping him stand, a murmured apology as he’s settled back into his seat. A bottle of wine is placed in front of him, “Condolences from the guests over there,” but Adrien doesn’t even see the gesture, doesn’t know who to thank for the wine he’s meant to drown his heartbreak in. The waiter clears Marinette’s plate and glass without a word.
Adrien had planned tonight perfectly—at least, he thought he had. Everything about today had gone so right, like Ladybug’s own Lucky Charm had made it happen. He and Marinette had seen a movie together that afternoon, had a lovely walk along the Seine, and then she’d gone home to put on a brand new dress for their dinner on the Eiffel Tower. Adrien Agreste, even famous as he was, had waited months for this reservation to come up. Even though he’d carried the ring on him for the last several weeks—just in case the moment felt right—he’d known that this was the plan. That tonight was going to be the night. It was truly perfect.
He’d carefully steered the conversation over dinner to their future together, to the plans they’d talked about over the years amidst dreamy sighs and giggles. She’d seemed excited—had he misread her entirely? He didn’t think so. He’d known Marinette for nearly a decade. Surely he knew the difference between excitement and panic and he was sure that she had been excited—nervous, maybe, because of course she must have guessed how special today was—but he hadn’t seen any panic in her, not until the moment he had opened the ring box.
Her face had dropped. True horror had filled her eyes. And she had said, “No.”
Actually, she had practically shrieked it as she shoved the ring box away.
Adrien still didn’t understand it. Marinette certainly wasn’t the sort of person to be upset about a diamond being too small or a ring being inexpensive. So the rejection had to be about him, and Adrien couldn’t fathom why, couldn’t identify what clue he had missed along the way.
He’d been nervous to propose, naturally, but he had never thought that Marinette would reject him, certainly not so dramatically. He didn’t think anyone had expected it. Even her parents and their friends were all waiting back at the bakery, ready to celebrate, convinced she would have said yes.
A new panic climbed Adrien’s throat as he imagined Marinette arriving back at her parents’ place, greeted with a congratulatory cake and champagne. He needs to call them, tell them the devastating news before Marinette reaches them.
But as his fingers alight on his phone, it begins to buzz. Adrien swallows and draws it out, unable to tamp down the desperate hope that it’s Marinette telling him she’s changed her mind—but instead it’s Nino.
Adrien answers and says nothing.
“Adrien, where are you?” Nino asks, voice thick with concern.
Adrien tips his head back against the chair and stares up at the ceiling. The warm yellow rings of lights glare down at him and he swallows down the mixture of shame and despair that begin to coil in his chest, familiar friends that have known him far longer than Nino has.
“Adrien?” Nino asks.
“I’m still here,” Adrien says, but with no more strength than he had managed to repeat Marinette’s rejection with.
“Where are you?” Nino asks again.
“I’m still at the restaurant,” Adrien clarifies. He doesn’t know where he’s going to go after this. Certainly not home. He considers the possibility of transforming into Astro Chat and disappearing into space.
“Listen, Marinette just called Alya, and Alya called me, and I really think you should—”
“It’s fine, Nino,” Adrien says.
“I know that’s not true. Do you want me to meet you somewhere?”
Adrien considers the prospect of company. He knows even if he does go home alone, Plagg will still be with him. He can’t truly be alone, unless he does decide to transform. Maybe he does need to spend some time on top of the Eiffel Tower, cloaked in Chat Noir’s magic and the silence of being so far above the world. Maybe he needs to spend a few days on top of the Eiffel Tower.
“I just want to be alone,” he says, fidgeting with the miraculous around his finger.
“If you need anything—”
But his phone buzzes against his ear, and Adrien loses the rest of Nino’s offer as he checks to see his cousin is calling him.
Adrien wonders how many phone calls he’s going to receive tonight. He wonders how many of them he’ll take and how many he’ll ignore.
He doesn’t think he should ignore this one.
“I’ll talk to you later,” he says to Nino, unsure exactly when later will be, and switches to the incoming call.
“Félix,” Adrien manages dismally. He wonders how fast word is spreading amongst their friends. He wonders if the news has already gone viral through a restaurant patron’s video footage.
“Kagami says I can’t kill her,” is all Félix says for a greeting, “but I will if you give me the okay.”
Adrien isn’t in the mood for Félix’s sense of humor. “Félix, I don’t—”
“I’m not joking,” Félix says.
Adrien rubs his eyes and runs his hand through his hair. “I’m going to hang up,” he says, wholly uninterested in Félix’s brand of comfort.
But Félix ignores this threat, and Adrien makes no move to follow through it it.
“Is there a possibility that she didn’t mean it?” Félix asks, voice turning from cold to cautious.
But Adrien doesn’t know how he could have misunderstood a loud, desperate shriek of, “No!” that seems to grow more violent as he turns the memory over and over again.
“She shoved me away and stormed out. I don’t think she could have communicated her feelings any clearer than that.”
Félix is quiet for a moment, and Adrien can picture him evaluating the evidence and trying to draw a picture of the event.
“Where are you?” Félix asks.
Adrien doesn’t answer.
He doesn’t consider himself a liar or even duplicitous in any way. He’s always genuine with his feelings—except when he isn’t.
Anger and heartbreak are too much for him, and he buries them deep, terrified that he’ll use them as weapons against others. He’s glimpsed, as much as the rest of Paris has, how hurt can be weaponized. He knows, too, the way that grief and heartbreak can make someone undesirable. He grew up in a home that treated sadness like a sickness, like rot that needed to be carved out. The last thing Adrien wants is for his friends and loved ones to see him at a low like this.
“I’ll be home soon,” Adrien finally says, avoiding Félix’s question.
“I’ll meet you there,” Félix says.
“Please don’t,” he says.
“You don’t enjoy being alone.”
And how could Adrien not cry at that? He’s been in shock—the rejection hurts, but he hasn’t truly felt it yet—until Félix trods on the roots of Adrien’s aching heart. He doesn’t enjoy being alone, and he wasn’t supposed to ever be alone again. He was supposed to have Marinette with him forever, but now…
He tries desperately to bite down the tears, but they swell up regardless. “I don’t understand,” Adrien chokes out, and his tears drip down his cheeks, like water through a crack in a levy. “I don’t understand what went wrong or why—” But his words fail him as his throat is suddenly consumed with a gasping sob.
He doubles over, one hand still clinging to Félix on the other end of the line and the other tightening in his hair like he can tear it out and his heartache with it. He leans against the table, unable to hold up his own weight as the burden of Marinette’s rejection bears down on him and an empty, lonely future spirals out before him.
“Tell me where you are,” Félix says, voice strangely tender.
Adrien screws his eyes shut, like he might be able to seal up his mess of tears or keep out Félix’s uncharacteristic kindness.
He knows the other restaurant patrons have to be watching, and all Adrien can think is how nice it would be to disappear. He thinks of how Marinette managed to flee the restaurant in her panic, and he wishes his legs would work and carry him out, too. He thinks if he hangs up the phone, he’ll be able to gather himself together just long enough to get out of here and find a place to become Chat Noir.
“Ah,” Félix says, “Nino just texted back. I’ll be right there.”
And Adrien can’t even protest, can’t warn him not to. Adrien certainly doesn’t want Félix to see him like this, doesn’t want anyone he loves to glimpse how utterly broken and devastated he is, but the words stick in his throat, drowned by the sobs he can’t fight down.
Adrien drops his phone onto the table, aware the call has gone dead and presses the heels of his hands against his eyes in an effort to stem his tears. He wonders how long he has until Félix arrives. Perhaps he can leave before his cousin gets here—
But there’s a gasp from the guests of the restaurant, a sudden rise of tension and fear that swells around him. Adrien’s skin prickles, familiar with the way a crowd’s mood changes before an akuma attack, but when he opens his eyes he sees no monster nor black butterfly searching for a victim. Instead, it is his cousin, dressed in the purple and blue hooded uniform of Argos.
Adrien should have guessed that Félix would manage to make a bigger scene than Marinette had.
As he reaches the table, his hand goes for Adrien’s shoulder, but Adrien shrugs him off.
“Please don’t,” he begs, unsure how he can bear Félix’s offer of comfort—unsure how Félix can bear his misery. Already, he can feel another swell of tears burgeoning. He curls into himself, burying his head in his hands, hiding what he can of his heartbreak.
Argos drops into the chair that Marinette had sat in not thirty minutes ago, and as he does, drops his transformation.
“I’ll stay until you’re ready to leave,” Félix says, voice still tinged with tenderness, and it only makes Adrien’s chest ache more.
Adrien is not used to people standing with him when he makes a mistake. He’s used to sharp critique and deathly silent meals. Marinette and Nino alike have been so gentle in their attempts to draw him out, to allow him to misstep without flinching, but this particular misstep feels so monumental. He doesn’t know how he could have read Marinette so wrong; he doesn’t know how anyone would want to sit with him through this.
Félix, at least, knows what it’s like to bury heartbreak and mistakes well out of sight and well out of reach. Félix knows the way perfection is not an achievement but an expectation, and he understands that something as ugly as grief is not fit for public consumption nor private indulgence.
Adrien draws in two shaky breaths, but they’re whole and uninterrupted by wild sobs. He thinks he has enough composure to speak again and asks, “Do you know where I went wrong?” He doesn’t care for how raw and ragged his voice sounds, and he reaches for his glass of water.
Félix picks up the wine that Adrien has left untouched and sniffs the uncorked bottle curious. He pours a little, swirls and sips it, then wrinkles his nose, and checks the bottle. His upper lip curls in disgust and finally, he turns his eyes back to Adrien. “Have you considered that you may have made no mistakes at all?”
Adrien shakes his head. “No—I must have done something—or said something—” he feels the tears threaten to crawl out of his chest again, and he presses his thumb and forefinger against his eyes to hold them back. “Alya might know. I can text her.” But when he reaches for his phone, he finds that Félix has already snatched it out of reach.
“Adrien,” Félix murmurs, “you cannot charm the world to your will by following a dance step diagram. There is no pattern to unlock, no measure of perfection that will make everything turn out right.”
Adrien grits his teeth, certain that what Félix says is true, but unable to accept it. If he could just be better, then things wouldn’t have turned out this way.
“I’m sure you did everything right,” Félix continues. “The date, the dinner, the tie, the ring…” Félix’s hand closes over the blue velvet box. “But sometimes, Adrien, things simply—” He stops as he flicks the box open.
Adrien’s heart sinks. The ring was the problem after all, wasn’t it? He should have bought something expensive, something that glittered. He had just thought that Marinette would have preferred something sentimental, so he had chosen to propose with his mother’s wedding band. Apparently it had ben the wrong choice.
Félix snaps the box closed and slides it back to Adrien. “I’m going to find Ladybug,” he says, and Adrien’s heart pounds with new concern.
“Ladybug?” he asks weakly.
Félix gets to his feet, but he hesitates as he eyes Adrien and his disheveled hair and tear-stained cheeks. Something in his tight shoulders sags ever so slightly.
“No, not Ladybug,” he says. “Adrien, I’m going to take you to Marinette.”
“Félix, I can’t—”
“I don’t think she meant to turn you down.”
Though Adrien is reluctant to believe Félix, his heart pounds with hope. “What’s wrong with proposing with my mother’s ring? I thought she’d think it was romantic.”
Félix scrubs a hand over his face. “Well, she didn’t.” His voice is once again flat and cold, void of the care he’d been displaying moments ago. His words, at least, show an awareness of feeling. “I’m going to take you to Marinette, and the three of us are going to have a very difficult conversation, and it is going to hurt, but it will be all right. Can you trust me on that?”
Adrien isn’t sure how he can, but Félix doesn’t make it sound like he has any choice in the matter. “How do you know it will be okay?”
Félix draws his mouth into a tight line. When he does speak again, it’s painstaking and slow, like poison being drawn from a wound. “Because you have people who will love you regardless.”
There is not much more room for discussion. Félix pauses only to call Alya—on Adrien’s phone, certain it’s the only way she’ll answer—and merely says, “Where’s Marinette?” before engaging in tense negotiations with Alya for Marinette’s whereabouts. He wins the interrogation, or at least Adrien thinks he must have, because as soon as he ends the call, he transforms back into Argos and scoops Adrien up in his arms.
Adrien decides that he prefers when Ladybug carries him, but he doesn’t have much choice in the matter, unless he were to suddenly tell his cousin the truth about the ring he wears on his middle finger. But Félix is clearly in a hurry to reach Marinette, and is uninterested in mortal means of travel. Leaping across rooftops with the power of the Peacock Miraculous is the best the two of them can manage.
He lands on Marinette’s rooftop, and Adrien stumbles out of his cousin’s arms, unsure he has ever dropped onto this rooftop as himself.
He does his best to scrub his cheeks free of any tearstains. His hair, he’s sure, is unsalvageable after their flight across the rooftops, and he does not even want to know the state of his suit.
Argos lifts the trap door without knocking and drops down inside. Adrien, suddenly aware that he has this brief moment alone, considers the risk of simply leaving.
But before he can quite manage a whispered, “Plagg, claws out,” Alya’s head appears from below. She gives him a sad smile and climbs out to meet him.
Adrien backs into the balcony railing, but Alya approaches anyway. She puts a tender hand on his shoulder and ignores the way he flinches. Even as he tries to shrug her off, she squeezes tighter.
“I’m really sorry,” she says.
Adrien refuses to meet her eyes. He can’t let her see the tears that are springing up all of a sudden. He doesn’t know why his cousin has insisted on this.
“For what it’s worth,” Alya says, “I don’t think she meant to turn you down. She’s… she’s really embarrassed, but she won’t say anything more to me than just that she panicked.”
Adrien doesn’t think that quite matches with his memory of the event, but his heart is racing again, brought back to life by the hope Alya is offering him.
“You should go talk to her. Félix won’t let me in there for whatever it is he wants to say, and I don’t know that I trust the two of them alone together for very long.”
Adrien isn’t entirely sure if that Alya’s fears are about mistrusting Félix—distantly, he remembers Félix’s offer of murder—or if they’re about mistrusting Marinette and her own scheming.
“I’ll go down there,” Adrien concedes, “but I’m not sure I’ll have much more to say.”
“Then just listen. And, hey, you know that no matter what happens, you and I are still friends, right?”
His chest swells and Adrien thinks this alone might break him. He isn’t sure how to accept this offer of kindness, of unconditional trust.
“Okay,” he manages, voice strangled with a whirl of emotions he can’t begin to name.
Adrien climbs down the ladder into Marinette’s bedroom and finds that Félix is once again without his magical costume. He has settled into Marinette’s desk chair as easily as if it was his own, while Marinette sits on the edge of her bed, head between her knees and hands locked behind her neck as if she is preparing for an earthquake or a tornado. Adrien considers mirroring her posture, but chooses not to, only because he is unsure where he would sit. So he stands, leaning against her windowsill, unsure how to begin this conversation.
“If you don’t tell him, Marinette,” Félix says, “then I will.”
Marinette’s whine is muffled by her knees and whatever she murmurs into her leg is fully unintelligible.
Félix sighs in exasperation. He takes his own ring—his father’s ring—between his thumb and finger and yanks it off. He turns it over between his fingers. “Adrien, have you ever wondered how you and I are so terribly alike in appearance even though we are only cousins?”
“Our mothers are twins,” Adrien says, almost automatically. He distantly remembers asking his mother about it once, and she’d said the same. She had said to never bring it up again, so he had done as she asked and never questioned her answer. Even now, it seems impossible to think otherwise.
“My mother can’t have children,” Félix says, and there is nothing in his tone nor expression that indicates how absurd the statement is.
Adrien glances to Marinette for some sort of clue or help, but she is still in a panic. His heart aches to see her like this, and all he wants is to sit down next to her and hold her. But he remembers how she pushed him away just an hour ago, and he remains by the window.
“Félix, that doesn’t make sense.”
“My mother can’t have children and neither could her twin sister.”
Adrien does not have the patience for this conversation. He rubs his eyes, aching and tired from the tears they have spilled. “I don’t understand what you mean.”
“My father created me, and your mother created you, using the Peacock Miraculous.”
Marinette moans like a seasick sailor whose ship has made a sudden lurch beneath her feet. Adrien can only stare at Félix, stunned.
“Why would you say something like that?”
“Because it’s the truth,” Félix says, “and because I told Marinette.”
Adrien’s gut twists. He isn’t sure which part is harder to swallow: the idea that he’s a Sentimonster or the idea that Marinette rejected him because of it. His entire reality shifts before him, and he clings to the window’s ledge to make sure he stays on his feet.
“But you… you can’t be serious.” But even as Adrien says it, he can’t imagine Félix would be anything less than serious. His next concern, then, is that Félix has simply been horribly misinformed.
He looks to Marinette again, and he knows by the white in her knuckles and the half-formed sob that bursts out of her chest that she believes it.
“My father used this ring as the object to bind me to life,” Félix says. “Your mother chose hers and your fathers’ wedding rings.”
Adrien shakes his head, still unable to see truth in Félix’s words, but finally—finally—Marinette says something intelligible.
“I’m sorry,” she says, and hiccups on another sob. She lifts her head and looks at Adrien. Her face is flushed, cheeks tear-streaked and eyes puffy, red, and streaked with mascara. Though she’s still wearing the dress she had put on for their formal dinner date, the satin is wrinkled like she’s the one who took a journey across Paris’ rooftops in a superhero’s arms. “I didn’t mean it, Adrien, I swear.”
Adrien pulls the velvet box out from his jacket and looks at the ring inside. He still can’t wrap his head around the idea that this ring and his father’s ring, still attached to the necklace fastened beneath his shirt, are tethers that hold him to this world. He still can’t believe that he isn’t human. He feels human. He imagines that this night wouldn’t hurt so much if he were otherwise.
But more urgent than this absurdity that Félix has laid at his feet is Marinette’s apology. He stumbles over to Marinette and collapses onto the bed beside her. “Which part didn’t you mean?” he whispers.
Marinette hiccups again and tries to rub her eyes dry, but she only succeeds in smearing her mascara. The black streak bleeds into her hairline and her tears continue to fall regardless.
“The part where I pushed you,” she says, and chokes on another sob. “The part where I said no.”
Adrien plucks the ring out from the velvet box. “Marinette—”
“No!” she yelps again, and closes her hands over his. She falls off the bed, knees hitting the hardwood floor with a thud and she winces, but does not lose her grip on Adrien’s hand. He’s afraid she’s going to break his fingers
“Adrien, don’t,” she says. “I can’t take this.”
“But Marinette—”
“Please,” she sobs. She buries her face into his knees, tears and makeup soaking into his suit. Without looking up at him, she pries the ring out of his hand and slides it onto his own finger. “Adrien, I love you,” she chokes on another gasping sob, “and I cannot love you and wear this ring.”
Something new inside Adrien breaks, something he can’t name. He stares down at the top of Marinette’s head, and her hands holding onto his like he’s the only tether she has to this world. New tears fall from his cheeks, unattached to sobs. They aren’t sad tears, not at all.
Human or not, Marinette loves him. He’s not sure anything else matters.
He sinks to the floor beside Marinette, takes her face in his hands, and kisses her.
She doesn’t push him away. She doesn’t shriek and reject him. It’s the kiss he had expected, long and deep and perhaps a bit more wet than he had been prepared for. Even her hiccups, he thinks, ought to have been expected.
The chair beneath Félix creaks as he stands, and he coughs.
Marinette and Adrien politely pause their kiss, but they keep their hands intertwined and their foreheads pressed together.
“I’ll let Alya know we’re finished, then.”
Marinette tries again to wipe her eyes dry. “I’ll go—” She pauses for a sniff and a hiccup. “I’ll go tell my parents the good news.”
Adrien squeezes her hand. “Wait, one more thing.” He turns to his cousin, already halfway up the ladder steps. He supposes that Félix has given a lot of emotion today, and he shouldn’t be surprised his cousin is trying to slip away. “Why did you tell Marinette about the rings before you told me.”
Marinette sucks in a sharp, sudden breath of air and her hiccups vanish. Félix freezes on the ladder, but it’s brief. He shrugs and says, “I’ll let Marinette tell you that one.” And he leaves.
Adrien looks at Marinette, watches her worry her bottom lip and flick her eyes between her sewing machine, the box that he knows her diary is hidden in, and the dollhouse perched on her desk.
“Marinette?” he asks.
“Well—I—I mean—I can’t—I mean you can’t—” Marinette fumbles for the right words, but Adrien is used to this. He waits patiently.
“I’m Buglady,” she finally spits out, “I mean Luggybady. I mean—”
Adrien’s eyebrows lift. “You’re Ladybug?”
She swallows and nods.
He glances at the plain black earrings fastened in her ears. He thinks about the last several years of interrupted dates and how he hadn’t even noticed her terrible excuses for lateness because he was too busy thinking about his own.
Adrien works his ring off of his finger. He never removes it, and it requires a bit of doing, but once its off, he slides it onto Marinette’s finger.
“Adrien, I said I can’t—”
He leans in close, whispers, “It’s just my miraculous,” and kisses her cheek.
She swallows and looks down at the band, clearly thicker than the wedding band and with an unadorned place for a stone setting—a space perfectly sized for a glowing pawprint—and begins to hyperventilate all over again.
“But you can’t—I can’t—but Adrien—Chat—”
Adrien kisses her, and she sinks into it, panicked words and breath forgotten. There’s nothing more to be said between them.
Nothing about today went perfectly; nothing about this kiss is picturesque or even truly romantic. But Adrien wouldn’t trade today and all of its mess for anything in the world. He loves his lady, panic and stuttering and all, and he’s willing to admit that maybe it’s okay if she loves his mistakes and his secrets too.
