Promoting the Patreon survey I made just one more time before I make some decisions and the page goes live. Thank you so much to the people who've already answered. Your answers gave me a lot to chew on.

I'm thinking Wednesdays as publication days, so I think I'll launch the Patreon this Wednesday the 8th as well. If you want to have any input on potential rewards and tier levels, lmk in the next two days or forever hold your peace!

As for the story itself... My likely start date is May 15th, but I also don't want to rush this edit. So if I need an extra week or two to shine things up, I'll take it. If I push it back, it'll only be until the end of May at the latest. Still, though, May 15th is my projected date to begin posting.

On the start date, whenever it does finally turn out to be, the first chapter will go on AO3 and the first two chapters on Patreon. One historical essay (more of a foreword, really) will also go live both here on tumblr and on Patreon at that same time. From then on, chapters will go live on Wednesdays and historical blog posts/writer commentary will be posted throughout the week. It will take roughly five to six months to serialize, and then an ebook will be made available through Patreon.

That's the plan, anyway.

I'm going to be making a free tier on Patreon if you just want to get news about the story in your inbox, and I'm also planning on creating a tumblr specifically for the story for organization purposes. More info on that next week, I suppose.

I've got some very exciting news

Since the start of October is about a week away (I know how gross where did the year go?) and we all know that marks the start of the kinkiest month of the year, I've got some exciting news

I am doing Kinktober this year, as I think I've stated before previously. I'm not doing every day again this year since I had to make my own list and just didn't really feel inspired by some and just didn't have the energy to write others.

Then I got a brilliant idea.

This year's Kinktober will have a...bit of a theme...

Allow me to use a meme to explain

Yes, all of my kinktober fics will be centered around Kyle, our beloved Gaz, Mr. Severely Underappreciated And That's A Crime.

The fics are all kink-related. Some are just straight kinks, others may involve some uh...other things 😏

I'll be releasing a more in-depth post closer to October 1st that will also serve as the masterlist (and I will be linking it on my navigation post as its own link). I have an update schedule planned for Kinktober (and CRCB will still be ongoing during October but we will be having a conversation about that fic separately) and will be posting on my taglist blog for Kinktober fics as well since that blog is for everything that gets released on this blog. So if you would like to be notified of when Kinktober fics come out, give that blog a follow and turn on notifications. (I sound like a YouTuber)

Anyway, that's the plan. We're giving Kyle some much deserved attention and love for Kinktober. I will also have some other things going on over on my Patreon for paid-Patrons since I can't make NSFW stuff public, so if you're interested go and check that out.

But yes, so much content is coming in October for y'all and honestly I'm really excited. You'll get more detailed info in the Kinktober masterlist which will probably be dropping closer to the weekend or maybe even next Monday. We'll see. I'll also be posting some news about CRCB here soon as well, also probably closer to the end of the week.

Ironmouse- Queen of the Underworld

Castle resides in the Nether Wastes region

Oversees all the Nether capitals/kingdoms/demon kind

And business concerning the Overworld's access to the Nether

Tina- Princess of the Seven Capital Vices

Castle resides in Warped Forest region

7 deadly sins reflect the Seven Capital Vices (regions) and are named: Avaritia, Luxuria, Invidia, Gula, Ira, Acedia, Vanagloria

Helps Mouse with matters concerning demon kind/the kingdom's subjects

Bad- Prince of Death (Grim Reaper)

Castle resides in the Soulsand Valley

Also has connections and access over ancient cities/deep dark

Mostly rules over matters concerning dead mortals/making sure souls pass properly

Bad's role is like Hades' in greek mythology basically

Yangdding- Highest ranking demon general

Main fortress resides in the Crimson Forests

Leads Mouse's armies

Has a lot of experience exploring the different biomes, fighting, and resolving conflicts between demons

Still a part of demon nobility but doesn't "rule" over anything, so no royal title

Basically a brief summary of how the Nether Kingdom works:

Demons are still looked down upon by many people from the Overworld, but that's mainly due to the many millenia of tyrannical demon rulers and the power they abused to instill fear into the people of the Overworld. Eventually, the Nether Kingdom became impoverished because of the corrupt governing, until IronMouse- a "lowly demon" stepped in to try to change things. A civil war ensued, but the rebellion led by Mouse, Bad, and Tina won and Mouse took the throne as the new Demon Queen.

She changed a lot of things including how long a ruler should stay in power, since technically, one crowned demon can rule forever. Mouse declared that demon rulers can stay in power for 1000 years maximum before they must eventually find a successor to take their place. Mouse's dynasty has just reached its 650th year when the story takes place. Ironmouse wants to establish peace with the people of the Overworld, and they mainly stay out of Overworld wars. That is, until the ancient conflict between demons and vampires arises and escalates once more...

I want to go over the vampires and Bagi's role, but I think that requires a separate post XD

But yes, Tillie Walden posted the cover for Book 3 and honestly? I actually like it, y'all.

I really like the colors here, they're lovely.

So, we've got Clementine, Ricca, Olivia, Fen, and the cat, Dr. Barnwell featured on the cover pretty predominantly, which is interesting given the designs of the previous covers.

Doing a little bit more research, I also found this:

"Clementine suffers a loss unlike anything she's ever faced"... I mean, I have some doubts about that given I've, y'know, played the games and know a lot about the losses Clementine's suffered.

The darkest turn I could see would be Olivia losing her baby... which Clementine has been with someone who lost her baby before: Christa. I mean, if Tillie pulls out a walker baby in this final installment, I'll be surprised... though we should keep in mind that Tillie herself had a baby not too long ago, so I don't know how willing she is to take that route, y'know? It's an exceptionally dark topic to begin with, but she's written about some other very serious and heavy topics so if she's willing, I'm willing to give it a go.

But listen... "The Gardener"?? Tell me more?? If they're the new antagonist, please be better than Miss Morro?? I beg of you??? The implications of someone, a "mentor," called The Gardener that offers her a new family, and a "new way of living"???? "but at what cost"???

Y'all, are they joining a cult? Please tell me they're joining a cult.

Clementine had that line about cults in Book One. Foreshadowing? Tillie, you genius.

I'm only partially joking. Book One was the perfect set up for a cannibalism plot twist and it just... didn't do that. Book Two could've done something way more interesting with Miss Morro, but just... didn't.

So maybe this time it really will just go for it.

My promise still stands though: If Amos comes back as a twist villain, the book gets an immediate 5/5 stars, no questions asked.

Actually I am sort of interested in Jaden/Johan but in the sense that they would start dating after S3 because after all they went through all that shit for each other and they have the chance now but it sort of feels almost obligatory and after the honeymoon infatuation wears off it turns out that they were like 18 and barely knew each other and aren't actually super compatible, also the demonic entity that tormented Johan for who knows how long still lives in Jaden's head and is a non-negotiable member of this relationship, which, wow baggage? And then eventually Johan gently dumps him and goes back to Scandinavia and Judai spends the next few weeks sulking about it. I think it would be fun to watch Jaden Yuki get dumped.

I made the mistake of scrolling the dash last night, hoping to re-engage my Loki fandom feels, only to be reminded of why I've more or less quit this fandom - which, for the record, is bc I don't know if it's purity culture or "woke" culture or just "for the love of god, I'm begging you to touch grass" culture, but I'd like to engage with my blorbo without running into posts spouting takes like "saying Loki has small, slender hands is a feminization kink (and therefore bad)." Like?? I think there's something inherently anti-genderfluidity(?) to assume that men can't have small, slender hands or that having small, slender hands is automatically a feminine trait, and also Loki does have small, slender hands, and also even if it is being written as some kind of a kink, so what? Why are we kink-shaming?

I mean, I don't know, it just seems like there are more and more and more things that are being shamed, or criticized, based on an arbitrary sense of morality that undermines fiction as a creative, explorative form of art and it's just beyond exhausting - and fucking obnoxious - at this point.

I finished Raincode chapter 5.

uerhfhgh. no. literally one of the things i said to my friends as i first started the chapter was that I hope the game wouldnt end with shinigamis and yumas pact ending. guh. AND THE GOODBYE KISS. NOOOOOOO

I didn't expect like to be genuinely invested in Shinigamis and Yumas partnership, but they we're just so cooperative and soft this chapter I can't take it

I called the "everyone was killed and replaced by a humonculi" and the meatbun twist pretty early into the chapter, I felt so smart even though it was likely easy to deduce seeing as its one of the first things you figure out in the mystery labyrinth

I ALSO predicted that Makoto was the humonculi of Number One, what i DIDNT expect was that YUMA WAS NUMBER ONE. WOW. I felt so much for Yuma like what an identity crisis

also the ending...

Yakous still dead, Yuma has his memories back and isn't the same Yuma I've grown to love, Shinigamis pact is over, the Nocturnal Detective Agency is now abandoned and empty

I can't be mad at the ending, it makes sense, it delivers on what it wants to deliver, its a decent conclusion, but GOD DAMN IT I just want everybody to be okay and being good ol detectives together and Yumas an amnesiac with his little ghost partner... I kinda wanna write a self indulgent fic but idk if I have the willpower for that.

I will say playing as Kurumi in the epilogue surprised me, and the after credits cutscene was interesting. I also checked the eshop to look at the DLC and the first one releases tomorrow I'm pretty sure?? so that's interesting timing on my part

Does anyone else hate writing the beginning of fics??

Like I know where I want the story to go, sometimes I even know where I want it to start, but trying to figure out how to open it?? Introduce the scene??

I just feel this pressure that it needs to have a good hook (thanks school-essay writing for that one) that HAS to catch the attention RIGHT away.

Maybe this is just me but it's my least favourite part of writing ;-;
