story of us
Tumblr media
pairing: dexter mayhew x reader
a/n: part of a series that’s also on my ao3 wr1tingtoc0pe :)
————————————
I met Dexter Mayhew on my last day of university. It was our graduation ball and I was dancing with my friends when he caught my eye, not for the first time however.
I’d always noticed him, I’m sure he’d never noticed me but I saw him, he’s hard to forget. Dexter had this aura about him that could only be described as enthralling, not only that but gorgeous blue eyes and a smile that could kill.
“Hi, i’m Dex” The brightest smile made his eyes light up as he held out his hand towards me, the music and lights seemed to stand still as we made eye contact. It took me a few seconds to register that he was talking to me, after an awkward amount of time I finally shook his outstretched hand. he’d never acknowledged me in the four years we’d been on campus together. I gave him my name and told him I knew who he was already, “ The infamous Dexter Mayhew.” I smiled, as did he and I think my heart stopped for a second.
“Do you want to dance?”
“I mean I kind of already am” I stated plainly.
“I mean with me” He let out a little scoff, not really a laugh but not not a laugh..
“Oh. yeah, sure” I took the hand he held out to me as he lead me to a quieter area of the dance floor, I could hear my friends squealing as we disappeared.
“Dex!” I ran with outstretched arms for an embarrassing amount of time, probably should’ve waited until I was closer to him really.. when I finally reached him I dropped my bags as he stretched out his arms and I jumped into them, wrapping my arms around his neck as he spun me around laughing.
“Someone’s happy to see me,” he took my bags in his arms.
“Actually i’m just happy to be off of that train. Seven hours.. my bum is sore.” I pouted dramatically as we started walking off of the platform and to the car park.
..
“This time last year we were at the grad ball, can you believe it’s been a year?!” Dexter questioned and I shook my head as the memories of that night ran through my mind.
“I really can’t, i’ve put up with you for a whole year! I deserve a medal.” I spoke exasperatedly and laughed when he gasped,
“you’ve put up with me?? i’ve been putting up with you!” He bumped his shoulder into mine as we reached the car, he opened the boot and put my bags in and then ever the gentleman opened the passenger door for me.
“Dexter Mayhew, what a gentleman,” I quipped as he tipped his imaginary hat at me, closed the door and walked around to the drivers seat.
“We’ve been out of university for a year and I have accomplished nothing.” I sighed as I walked next to Dex down the high street.
“We’re twenty three, we’ve got our whole lives ahead of us, we’ll figure it out.” Dex and I were quite different when it came to our outlook on life, he was all about having fun and living for the moment, ever the optimist with the mindset that everything would work itself out. My mindset was quite the opposite, ever the over thinker. Dex was good like that, he was always there to remind me to be in the moment and to have fun rather than stress about the future.
“What do you think we’ll be doing at forty?” It seems so far away but in reality, it’s not.
“I don’t know what i’m going to be doing tomorrow, let alone at forty” How I wish I could live life like Dex could, no plan or worries about the future. “I will say one thing though. I hope I have children by the time i’m forty” This revelation took me surprise because I didn’t know Dex had even thought about that kind of stuff, “what?” He had a little smile on his face as I gathered my thoughts.
“I didn’t think you thought about that kind of stuff” it was endearing that he had though, Dexter with children.. I mustn’t think about it or I might just melt into a puddle of adoration. Before he respond I spoke again “you’d be a great dad, the best.” Maybe he doubted himself because his smile grew at my words, Dexter Mayhew an aspiring father, never would’ve thought it.
“Do you want kids?” he asked as we entered a quaint café and I waited until we had sat down to answer
“I don’t know. It’s a lot to think about, kids are expensive and there’s so many global issues I don’t know if I want to bring a child into this mess-“ I stopped talking when I saw the sly smile on his face as my eyes found the table, “can you stop staring at me like that, please.”
“Sorry” He seemed to have more to say but he didn’t, “What do you fancy?” You is what I wanted to say, but i’m not that stupid.. I dare ruin this beautiful friendship we’ve forged over the last year.

You could not wait to get off this god-forsaken train, you had just a few more stops until you could escape the havoc. You were exhausted from being on high alert the whole time; not only did you have yourself to look after, but you also had your two-year-old daughter to protect.
Anxiously sitting in the quiet car with your baby glued to your chest, cradling her head as you whispered lullabies into her tiny ears.
A couple of guys walk towards you and you instantly think the worst. Holding your hand out as a way to back them off. “No-please. I don’t want any trouble.” You mumble, gripping tighter on your daughter.
“No no, we don’t want to hurt you.” The larger guy said sweetly.
Opening your eyes, flickering your attention towards the two men. Turning your attention to the moustached man behind with an irritated expression. “It looks like he does.” You meekly say, nodding at him.
“Don’t worry about him, he always looks like that. We want to help you, it’s not safe on here, especially for your daughter.” The guy said with a sincere smile.
“Why would you want to help me?” You questioned.
“Wasn’t my idea.” He grins, knocking his friend in the side.
“Shut up, you twat.” The moustached man grits.
“But seriously, we need to get you off by the next stop, everything is about to go tits up.” Extending a hand to escort you off.
“What’s your names, first?” You ask.
“I’m Tangerine, he’s Lemon.”
“Like the fruits?” You question, holding back a smile.
“Oh bloody hell it’s not important-“
“Shut up, bruv.” Lemon interrupts, punching his friend in the shoulder. “Miss, we just want to make sure you’re safe.”
For some bizarre reason, you felt as though you could trust them because your instincts were never wrong. Reaching between your feet to pick up your bag and slinging it onto your forearm, shimmying your daughter to sit on your hip.
“My brother will take that.” Lemon says, nodding to your bag.
“No, it’s okay.” You brush them off while you struggled to balance the weight.
Instead Tangerine snatches it, gripping it in his hands as he leads the four of you.
“Don’t mind him.” Lemon whispers as he gestures for you to walk first.
Following behind the broody guy, he escorts you off the train as you brushed a comforting hand down your daughter's back. Making your way to the platform, you look between confused. What now?
“One sec.” Lemon says, holding his index finger up. “Come on.” Dragging his brother to the side.
You felt so awkward standing there, overhearing their discussion about what to do with you. You were tempted to turn around and walk, but you really didn’t have anywhere to go.
The brothers part from their conversation and stare at you, each of their faces displaying a different emotion.
“Do you have anywhere to go, love?” Tangerine asked, looking between you and your daughter who was sleeping soundly against your chest.
Shaking your head no, a pained smile across your lips.
Lemon loudly whispers into his brother's ear “I really think we should offer.”
Tangerine looks away and sighs, putting his hands in his trouser pockets. “Fine.”
“We have a couple of spare rooms back at our estate… we’d be happy to have you.” Lemon says with a smile.
“I- uh- I don’t know… I don’t want to be a bother.”
“You won’t.”
//
Everything seemed to be going well so far, you were sitting in their private jet on your way to their home in the countryside. You had managed to get some information out of Lemon. You felt as though you could finally relax.
“What’s her name?” Lemon asks from the seats next to you.
“It’s Mandy.” You say in a baby voice, blowing raspberries on her cheek. “Mandarin for long, because they’re lucky to me.” Smiling sweetly at your baby.
Out of the corner of your eye, you see Tangerine warmly staring at you, but when you meet his gaze his eyes snap away to look at an upside-down fashion magazine.
“That’s real cute.” Lemon makes a playful face at Mandy. “Does she like tv? Because we can put some on?”
“She actually loves Thomas the tank engine, I don’t suppose you have that?”
“Oh bloody hell.” Tangerine snickers to himself from the other end of the plane. “He loves Thomas.” Walking over and taking a seat to join the three of you.
“You do?”
“Mhmm.” Lemon excitedly hummed, eyes lit up huge. “I’ll put it on now.”
Once again, you catch Tangerine gazing at you, but you pay him no mind. Bouncing Mandy over your knee as she giggled at the trains on the little screen.
//
You have been at their house for a few days now and you started to feel settled, you didn’t want to overstay your welcome but it just felt so nice to feel cared for. They welcomed you as one of their own and gave you everything you could ever need.
You and Lemon were starting to build somewhat of a friendship, while Tangerine was a tough nut to crack, more often than not he’d be standoffish. You would notice the way he’d try to make Mandy laugh or the occasional glances at you, but other than that he tried to keep his distance.
//
Over the last few weeks, you could feel him warming up to you more and more. It felt as if he was glad you both were there.
Earlier on today he took you and Mandy to a baby store and told you to get as much as you could. He held Mandy as you stocked your trolley. At first, you felt awful for spending his money, but he constantly reassured you that it was no problem.
So now back at their house, you were sorting your room while one of the brothers babysat Mandy. You were assembling a new cot when you noticed how eerily quiet the house was.
You make your way into the living room, stopping in the doorway as you look around the room. Mandy was curled up asleep on Tan’s chest, cuddling into him as his hands brushed over her hair to soothe her. You felt like melting. It was such a sweet sight.
You wanted to join them but you didn’t want to interrupt. He noticed you lurking in the hallway and patted the spare seat next to him, urging you to sit with them. So you do. Settling yourself on the sofa to enjoy the peaceful silence in the room. He reaches an arm around you, pulling you into him. At first, you hesitated, but within moments you fell into his embrace, snuggling into him while the fireplace crackled.
//
A couple of months had passed since you joined the twins, you were only meant to stay for a few weeks- only until you got back on your feet, but they practically begged you to stay and you couldn’t quite pass on the opportunity. In return you did as much as you could to help around the house, feeling like you owed them.
You and Tangerine have got really close recently like he dropped all of his barriers to be around you. You didn’t realise just how sweet and considerate he was until you saw him with Mandy. He’d play with her and spoil her constantly, and you could see how happy he makes her- it almost made you a little jealous. The way she’d giggle and squeal around him made you swoon and fall for him impossibly harder.
Neither of you knew, but you were madly in love with one another. It was one of those beautiful classic ‘saving each other’ stories; he saved you by giving you a place to live, and you saved him by entering his life. He had become the man you always wanted and the kind of father you wanted for your daughter. Not only did you gain a place to stay, but you also attained your own little perfect family.

It would actually be fine for me if Taylor was staying truly neutral in politics. But she's not. The entities she's in business with, the entities she promotes tell a different story. She either switched completely from the MA days or she didn't care in the first place. She just picked another topic since coming out was off the table and it was just an Era. I'm disturbed with how she conditioned people to love these pieces of shit she's been hanging out with. The excuse of the PR narrative doesn't do it for me because you could apply that to anyone. What would it be like to say 'Elon doesn't actually feel the way he expressed online about his trans child, he doesn't actually like being in business with dictators. That's just the image he wants to portray to get in good graces with the alt right. He's actually a great guy bts'. Isn't that absurd? Well this follows the same line of logic. Taylor is platforming these terrible entities, homophobes, misogynists, racists, abusers, to get in good graces and make money from the alt right. But don't worry guys, she's actually a great person. (This isn't aimed at you rainbow but at the people who use these excuses).
Yeah I absolutely get it and look for me, I’m always going to *want* to find a reason Taylor isn’t what she’s presenting to the public because the music tells us such a vastly different story of who she is and what she loves, the values she upholds. Am I right, am I wrong? I have no fucking clue because I don’t actually know Taylor Alison Swift. I do know it’s been a super bummer watching everything she’s involved in outside of the Tour this past year, and I had hoped with November drawing near, we’d get some bravery and honesty from her & her team
We also gotta remember Taylor seems to loath being told what she’s doing is wrong/weak and is very good at spinning narratives to make her appear completely blameless, which like isn’t how being a human works? It takes 2 or 3 or 12 to tango, and she’s never been someone who acknowledges her own mistakes publicly IMO
There will always be people who will protect/excuse Taylor online until the earth crumbles to dust which I think is one of two things—people struggling deep in the parasocial or people who are made too uncomfortable by facts and thus stick to the “light / fun” stuff. I can’t do that because fakeness / lying sets me into a fiery rage so
TLDR: Yes it sucks to see her play nice with people that seem to not care about humanity as a whole. Again, I don’t personally know any of these people, and I don’t think people are all bad or all good, but you’d think at a time when again democracy for the USA is on the fucking line, she would step up to speak for the common folk

magic it made . george weasley x reader . wc: 484.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
authors note: unedited . a little summary is that the reader and george have moved into a flat in a muggle neighborhood and attempt to make the bed without magic.
·:*₊‧ masterlist . taglist form . request works . ·:*₊‧✩
Tumblr media
“this is so hard,” george huffed as he flopped down on the bed — the fitted sheet snapping from the two corners it had finally stuck to and curled over his face.
you’d finally signed the lease to the flat this morning. it was in a nice muggle town, the ones that you see on the television with trimmed bushes and picketed fences.
you needed a break from the wizarding world after everything had happened. losing life long friends, family members, and having your lives be at risk themselves, it was all too much.
he especially, being around his childhood home knowing that some of the most significant people a part of it could have been missing out of the frame.
it had been a month or two since you’d come to the consensus to finally move in together, and three hours since the weasleys and your friends left after helping you move everything in.
the nap you’d taken on the floor in a pile of blankets and pillows had been more unpleasant than being exhausted — so you decided to get up and get the sheets on your actual bed.
which proved to be harder than you thought without magic.
george sighed, pushing the sheet off of his body and sitting up. his legs still touched the floor even with the platform of your bed.
“can’t we just magic it made? that was the first thing mum taught me and siblings because it would never look just the right way if we did it by hand,” he took you by the hips and placed you right in between his legs.
“but honey, we’re living in a muggle neighborhood for a reason — these people do muggle things all the time and i think the least we can do is learn how to make a bed properly,” you reasoned with a slight whine in your voice.
it was sheltering to be a part of a pureblood family, yes. but you had come to terms with that and worked to integrate different ideas into your lives. the last thing you were gonna allow was you and the love of your life to be a grown man and woman who couldn’t make a bed.
“it would be so much easier though love, and then we’d be able to actually use our new — king sized bed, without our families being within earshot. doesn’t that sound good?” he hummed, hooded eyes wandering down your figure like a fox.
he always knew how to steer a conversation.
“i thought you were tired. remember?”
you placed your hands around his neck, giving him an inquisitive look as he found something to answer with.
“i can preserve my energy for. . . better things.”
you hummed long in thought before he interrupted.
“it’ll just be this once, we can ring hermione tomorrow and ask her to teach us.”
“promise?”
“cross my heart and hope to die.”

Ep. 20 - Let’s Run Together, I’ll Be Your Oasis
Hello my beloved fellow souls,
welcome back to Danbi’s Room, your weekly dose of safe space. Go grab a cup of something warm and get yourself cosy.
I hope you’ve been well. I’m really sorry for my repeated and lengthy absence. In the past few weeks my life has shape-shifted quite a bit and my Sundays have been pretty hectic. I wasn’t in the mindset to hold safe space for you guys so I just went on a break. Now I am definitely on the way to be back on track, and I totally am on this platform, but with a slight change: Danbi’s Room is going to be moved permanently to Mondays. There are two main reasons for this decision: it’s easier for me to be consistent given my weekly routine; secondly, after all, Sunday is still Chan’s Room day, and in hopefully manifesting it will come back someday, I prefer switching to Monday. Maybe is out of respect, or also to differentiate, I don’t know, I’m just following my guts.
So, how have you felt the energies of this Solstice? It’s been two weeks now, so we’ve fully settled into the new season. The Sun is waning in the Boreal Emisphere and waxing in the Austral Emisphere. It’s a time of great changes and I hope you can welcome them all. We have a lot of resistances inside of us. I’m not talking about being strong and resilient, that’s always positive. What I’m referring to is everything which is frozen and tense in our heart: we’re immensely hurt by all of that, yet it is often too hard to acknowledge those wounds in the first place. Let alone loving them. Even more difficult to let them go. Or, better, to untangle them, to untie all of those knots. We’ve grown morbidly attached to these lumps and we’re terrified of letting them loose. What is going to happen? Will we be swept away by the avalanche of awareness the knots were safely holding in walls? We’re numb even to the physical pain at this point. It hurts but we quickly turn our attention away from the blades and the thorns tormenting our muscles, forcing them to an extreme, unnatural tension. I know, everything and anything might happen and that is far beyond terrifying. But I believe there’s a detail that might make it a bit more bearable. We automatically assume we’d have to let go of literally everything, leave all behind, untie all the knots at the same time and come out as a complete new and different person.
Pause.
Why the hell would you do that?
First and foremost, everybody has their own pace and they’re all equally valid. There’s no such a thing as the “right” pace. Even if you run slowly it’s fine. If you crawl it’s fine. If you’re still it’s fine. If you’re stuck it’s fine. This things all have their place in our personal paths. Most importantly, we’re still ourselves. We change, we shift, we find out new things and we rediscover others but it still us. And as diverse as the outcomes can be our steps are still all consequential. Even if we leap over a chasm, that leap is still after the step before. We can’t go and erase something just because. That’s unrealistic and noxious. Everybody has their own particular story. This means that there is a false narrative we can get rid of and we can be able to embrace the fact that we don’t have to abandon our post for something new. We have two hands: we can grab the new while still gently holding the old until we’re able to dance all together in a circle where we become all the same as one. The blur leaves space to the appearance of the oasis, oxygen comes back to our tired lungs and the going in and out, back and forth, inspiring and exhaling, composes a new melody. We go into each other’s heart to warm it up so it doesn’t ache anymore. And since we share the same dreams, if you’re tired, let me be your respirator.
Today’s song recommendation is Respirator by Han and Seungmin. It is about pain that takes your breath away, but that can be overcome together.
I hope you enjoyed this episode and that you have a beautiful week ahead of you!
I’ll see you in the next one, big hug!
With love, yours,
Danbi

Meeting with Elder Kevin Hamilton
I was invited by Elder Kevin Hamilton to meet with him when I next come to Utah, and this past week I took him up on his offer.
We had a very friendly conversation. He spent 90 minutes with me!!! He was very generous with his time. If I wrote about everything we discussed, this might go down as the longest post in history, so I’m going to share the parts I think most interesting or important and it’s still going to be long.
————————————————————
Elder Hamilton showed me the view from his office, overlooking the plaza and looking out at the Church Administration Building. He said the funny thing about being a Seventy is it’s like being called to the Quorum of the Anonymous. “Members don’t really know who we are or what we do, but they all know the people in that building across the way, and that’s how it should be.”
I commented that’s a result of hierarchy in the church.
“Oh yes, the hierarchy is strong. You may not know this but the apostles’ job is to testify of Christ, it’s the First Presidency who runs the church, makes decisions about operations and policies.”
One thing he admires about President Nelson is how he’s not afraid to make changes to things that are hardwired into our traditions. They’re just policies, not doctrines, and he’s shown us they can be changed and improved. Things like moving to 2-hour church from 3-hour church.
I chimed in, “or allowing single men over age 30 to serve in the temple, and women can be witnesses at sealings & baptisms. Those changes were meaningful.”
—————————
Elder Hamilton asked me to share some about my journey. I spoke about coming out later in life.
He asked how my family accepts me. I replied that it varies a lot. For instance, my mother wishes I would go back in the closet and never mention it again. She feels I’m ruining her eternal family.
On the other hand, my dad thinks he’s supportive but he doesn’t really get it. I’m president of the Florida chapter of Affirmation and I had setup an event in Orlando. As I’m headed out the door, my dad says hopefully, “Maybe you’ll meet a nice lesbian.”
Elder Hamilton laughs. I mean really laughs, for a whole minute. He finds this so funny.
Over the rest of our conversation, he two or three times dropped in the line, “or maybe you’ll meet a nice lesbian,” and we’d laugh.
—————————
Elder Hamilton asked me what my blog is called. “Nerdy gay Mormon.” He writes down the name and then asks, On which platform will I find it? “Tumblr.” He writes it down.
<gulp>
“Elder Hamilton, this is where I share about my experiences, my thoughts and my feelings about being a gay member. It’s not all sugar and spice. I share about differences and criticisms I have of church. This is a hard space to be in and I write about that.”
He understands it might be rough and tumble, he can handle that.
Later, as soon as I had an opportunity, I opened Tumblr on my phone and scrolled through what my last 20 posts were so I could see what it is he’s most likely to find if he actually checks out my blog.
—————————
Elder Hamilton had heard of Affirmation. He asked if Affirmation is affiliated with the church.
I answered that the church did give Affirmation a donation from the LDS Foundation to fund suicide prevention efforts, but otherwise no, they aren’t affiliated. Affirmation is clear they want to interact with the church but not take its money. Affirmation wants to focus on being responsive to what the membership wants without concern of whether this statement or that activity might result in a loss of funding from the church.
He said this is sensible.
—————————
I mentioned that I’ve been asked to be on a panel at the Affirmation conference, and I’m a little nervous, I haven’t had time to prepare.
He inquired what message I plan to convey. I replied that it depends on the question asked. I guess I’ll have to see what they ask in order to know how to respond.
He remarked, “Yes, you respond to their questions, but think if there’s an overall message you’d like them to take home, something you can emphasize with your answers.”
I answered that it’s the children who have to make these hard choices, it’s not the parents’ choice. The person who has to deal with the consequences is who should get to make the decision, especially if we’re talking adults.
He granted this makes sense. He suggested that I could emphasize that parents need to love their children, to not make that love conditional. Kids need to know they can depend on their parents’ love, they shouldn’t be scared they can lose it.
This was an excellent point, I used it in an answer at that session.
—————————
Elder Hamilton disclosed that questions on trans issues come up frequently and those have to be worked through, questions such as should a trans man be allowed into the priesthood quorum meeting or may a trans woman attend Relief Society.
Sometimes they get asked to let trans girls go to girls camp. He said that “a biological boy is not going to be allowed to sleep in the same tent with biological girls. We have to use some common sense.”
I think the obvious solution is right there in his sentence--have a tent for the trans girls. That settles the leaders’ worry about what might happen at night, and allows these individuals to come and participate and not feel excluded & rejected.
—————————
Elder Hamilton had previously shared with me that his favorite uncle was gay, he’s passed away but Elder Hamilton still sees his partner. I brought that up and said that intrigued me, has he seen his uncle’s partner recently?
Elder Hamilton shared they had a family reunion this past summer and the partner was there. The partner is Danish, grew up Lutheran, but knows Elder Hamilton is a Seventy in this church. The partner asked, “When I die, will me and your uncle be together?” Elder Hamilton replied, “I don’t know.”
A niece was sitting nearby, she’s trans and not LDS, she queried, “Do you think when I die that I’ll be a man?” Elder Hamilton responded, “I don’t know. None of us really know what heaven will be like.”
I thought this was very human of him to not recite what the church might teach, but instead to humbly acknowledge he doesn’t know.
Elder Hamilton questioned me, “What do you think your life and eternity looks like?”
“I don’t know. How can I know that? People seek answers and come to church, but queer people find far fewer answers than others. I can’t focus on the unknown.” I went on to suggest if I stay on my current course that my life will get more and more lonely as my nieces & nephews go to college, get married, and start their own families.
I notified him I didn’t want to offend him, but I believe I’m included in God’s plan, just not the church’s version of the plan. There must be an amendment or asterisks to the plan that the church doesn’t have.
Elder Hamilton observed that none of us really know what heaven is like. What he thinks heaven is like and what I think heaven is like are gonna be off. We’re going to get to judgement day and learn what heaven is really like and our desires are going to adjust to fit. Heaven is wonderful and we will be happy there.
—————————
Elder Hamilton let me know he spoke to a group of Young Single Adults and was asked when he thinks the church will accept same-sex marriage, as it did when it removed racial restrictions and polygamy?
He responded that the racial restrictions weren’t doctrine.
He further answered that he believes God affirms marriage between a man and a woman, but makes exceptions for polygamy when He needs to build up a posterity. There’s about 3 million direct descendants from the polygamy of the early church, about 80% of them are active in the church. All the current apostles except Elder Soares and Elder Uchtdorf, are descended from polygamists.
Elder Hamilton doesn’t believe gay marriage is like the other two examples. “The Law of Chastity is doctrine.”
While I disagree with his characterization that these things are nothing alike, I sympathized that it was an unfair question to ask when he thinks the church would change on gay marriage. If the church ever were to make a change, how would Elder Hamilton know what that timeline would be?
—————————
Elder Hamilton casually noted that he knows of some people who do change and no longer experience same-sex attractions.
I thought, maybe that’s what they tell him, maybe it’s true, I don’t know. But I personally know hundreds and hundreds, maybe thousands of people who have wished for that so strongly, prayed so hard, done all that they can to change their orientation to no avail.
What I articulated is, “I grew up with leaders saying if I had enough faith, then God would change me. I tried my very best to be so faithful, and I could never be faithful enough for God. My best was never enough. That was very damaging. I could never measure up, I was always deficient. It felt so defeating. I felt like if I can’t be good enough, then what’s the point?”
Then I conveyed my experience of being 19 years old and praying, “God, do you love me, all of me? Do you love who I am, and what I am?” Immediately upon saying these words, waves of warmth radiated across my body and I heard a voice proclaim, “You are not broken,” and that encounter sustained me for a long time. “But it is sad to think that someone who grew up in this church, went to Primary and the youth program, and didn’t know if it was possible that God could love me. We need to do better.”
—————————
Elder Hamilton reported that he used to be a mission president and several of his missionaries have come out as gay since returning home. He was speaking of how quickly they leave the church, and he feels his former missionaries need to spend more time addressing their faith, that they throw it away too quickly.
I countered that people don’t walk away from their faith casually, especially if this had been their life. These people served a mission, this is their community, their family life revolved around church. They don’t lightly walk away. They go through turmoil in determining if they should leave.
—————————
Elder Hamilton announced that he appreciates I don’t go around trumpeting that I’m a gay stake executive secretary. There was a guy in The Bay area (he means San Francisco Bay, as someone who lives by Tampa Bay I want to make that clear) who over and over again popped up in media saying he’s a gay ward clerk.
“Okay, we get it, you’re in a bishopric. Lots of people are in bishoprics. It doesn’t give you any special authority on what you’re speaking about.”
I acknowledged that sometimes it comes up that I’m a gay stake executive secretary, others want to make a bigger deal about it than I do.
I was requested to create a bio about myself for the panel I’m going to be on at the conference. I know being an active member is an important reason I was chosen to be on the panel. In the bio I put that “I’ve served for 9 years in stake callings.”
Elder Hamilton declared that was a good way to put it. “In our church, callings do act as shorthand to convey a lot of information quickly. If someone says they serve as an Elders Quorum president or a Bishop, you immediately can assume certain things about them. By saying you are serving in stake callings, that indicates you are temple worthy and all the choices you’ve made that goes with that.”
I explained that I do my best at my calling, I work hard at it, and it may come up from time to time in conversations or blog posts, but what I really want to talk about is the special work I’m involved in, and this calling helps that work to happen.
In 2015 it stung when the church inserted a new policy in the Handbook that classified all gay couples as apostates and forbade their children from joining the church. I yelled at God, and got a response—It’s fine to leave this church, but if you’re willing to stay there’s a special work for you to do.
There’s four parts to that work, one of which is help leaders better understand. I thought that meant I’d help a ward young men president understand. Never did I think I’d be sitting in the Church Office Building speaking with Elder Hamilton.
When people want to speak to me about my calling, to me it’s only a tool that allows me to do this other work. My special work includes helping young queer Mormons accept themselves. If someone wants to interview me about being a queer Mormon, it’s that work I want to speak about, not my assignment in church.
—————————
Elder Hamilton commented that recently he was at a stake in the northwest and they have a gay stake clerk, or maybe he is an executive secretary. “Either way, you’re no longer a unicorn, you’re not the only one.”
I countered, “Oh yes I am a unicorn. Two of us out of 3500 stakes, that’s still pretty darn rare!”
—————————
As we wrapped up, I reminded Elder Hamilton of my Tumblr blog and asked if it’s okay if I post about our conversation. He appreciated that I asked and encouraged me to please do so.
—————————
After the meeting, I sent Elder Hamilton a short email. “Elder Hamilton, Thank you again for meeting with me. I enjoyed your kind spirit. I left feeling uplifted and I appreciate that. As requested, here is a link to the affirmation conference happening this weekend. I hope things go well with your assignment this weekend”
He responded a few days later. “Thanks David, it was good to be able to see you. Please stay in touch. I am grateful to be able to call you a friend. Let me know if I can ever help in any way. Thank you dear brother.”
This was a good visit. I feel like we both learned some things and gained an understanding of each other’s viewpoint.

this might sound weird, but, uh, I spend a lot of time daydreaming, and one of my ongoing daydreams is about a space alien stranded on Earth with no other members of his species around.
and this is not some Star Trek rubber forehead alien. He’s more or less centaur shaped: four legs, two arms, big. (Actually in retrospect he’s approximately Andalite shaped. I think that series had a bigger effect on me than I realized.) And because he’s not human shaped, living in a human world poses challenges. Small doorways. Stairs. Emergency protocols that aren’t designed for someone whose weight is somewhere between deer and horse.
And his brain is different: he doesn’t like being outside, because in his society there is no outside, everything is “indoors”. He doesn’t really understand human body language, not because he hasn’t tried but just because that’s not a part of his species’ communication so his brain isn’t set up to understand it.
His culture doesn’t really do birthdays. Or food. Or music. Or pair bonding. Or a number of other things that are of central importance to humans.
And he’s not less capable than humans, his species is highly advanced, he’s personally very intelligent, he’s well adapted to his own world. But he’s not in his own world. So he runs into problems.
And dang the social model of disability makes so much sense seen through that lens.
Of course if everyone couldn’t walk up stairs we’d just have an entire society that didn’t have stairs. At whatever level of technology, from just living in flat areas to building ramps to elevators or idk hover platforms or whatever. And that goes for everything, literally everything. If everyone slept 20 hours a day, the standard workweek would be perhaps 14 hours. If nobody could just decide to do a thing and then do it reliably, we would have different ways of organizing our lives. If we went through regular periods of being non-functional, or unpredictable ones, society would be structured around that, like going through kemmer in The Left Hand of Darkness. If we hadn’t built the working world around a dichotomy of men who labor and women who care for children, then parental leave would just be a thing everyone does. If no one fell in love, our social lives wouldn’t be structured around marriage and couples and the nuclear family.
Things don’t have to be the way they are; they are the way they are based on certain assumptions of what’s normal. Normal not in the sense of typical (it’s not more common to be male than female for instance, and it’s not that typical to be fully abled) but in the sense of social norms, standards, expectations.

Dylan O’Brien & Zoey Deutch On Influencers, Erotic 80s Thrillers & Being #TeamTaylor
"I had some really wonderful, insightful conversations with public figures who have been cancelled." - by Harriet Sim
Starring in the confronting new drama Not Okay, co-stars Dylan O’Brien and Zoey Deutch sit down with marie claire Australia to talk about what drew them to the film, their first experience with influencer culture, and why they'll always been on Taylor Swift's team.
Marie Claire: Not Okay puts influencer culture under a microscope and examines how it’s become part of the zeitgeist. What drew you both to the script?
Zoey Deutch: I'm really fascinated by cancel culture. When you do a horrible thing, there are consequences, but we're in an interesting time where we sit behind our computers and play God, and decide who gets to live or die. Public shaming and cancellation isn't a new thing, but the scope, and how quick and inescapable it is, is new. I was really interested in that conversation and asking the question, should people be allowed to make mistakes? Do you believe in redemption? I think everybody looks inward. That's always been a really interesting thing for me to discuss; Internet culture, privilege and the mindless endless scrolling that we do. On social media you see war and school shootings, and then sprinkled in there are ads for hair and gummies and beyond Facetuned photos, and you're just hit with this stuff. That’s what drew me to the story.
MC: What was your first exposure to influencer culture?
Dylan O'Brien: I guess YouTube was the first iteration of it, and since then it's just had these different evolutions. It feels like anybody can become an influencer with the way TikTok is designed, it makes it easier to find your way to anyone's pages.
MC: Did any of the current influencers or make for a great character research?
ZD: We spoke to, and I won’t name names, many cancelled people. I had some really wonderful, insightful and interesting conversations with public figures who have been cancelled. They were multifaceted people who had made bad mistakes, and were suffering consequences, and were wondering, how long would they be suffering for.
MC: Dylan, you use Twitter, as a platform for advocacy on everything from pro-choice, LQBTQI rights, black lives matter ect. Why is using your voice and your platform on this medium something that is important to you?
DO: I think it's mostly driven by what's been going on in the world. The way I see it is that it’s this collective, this conversation and fight. In such unprecedented times it's sort of an emotional desperation. If you can possibly bring even the tiniest little percentage of awareness, I think it's our collective duty to do that together.
MC: Zoey you’re in Ed Sheeran’s Perfect music video and Dylan you’re the heartbreaker in Taylor’s All Too Well. What was the experience like?
DO: Working with Taylor was amazing. I can’t believe she’s real sometimes. She just naturally became a friend so quickly. It felt like we’d known each other for years, we’re the same age and have a lot of mutual friends. She’s the best and so brilliant.
ZD: What’s funny about both Taylor and Ed is they are both so prolific. They write hit after hit. Their songs are so deep, vulnerable and personal. I remember asking Ed ‘are you ever worried you’ll get writer’s block?’ And he’s like, ‘Absolutely not.’ They are similar in that sense, they just have so much to say.
MC: What genre would you like to tackle next?
DO: I’d love to do a horror movie.
ZD: Me too!
MC: Would you play the hero or the villain?
Dylan: I don’t think I’d be believable as the bad guy.
Zoey: Really? I think he could be a good creepy murderer and I mean that lovingly.
Dylan: For weeks I’ve been on this 80s erotic thriller kick. We’re got to bring back the erotic thriller.
Zoey: Dylan’s interested in being fully nude for an hour and a half. I feel confident we can make that happen.
MC: Have you read A Court of Thorn and Roses? It’s essentially fairy porn, but they’re making it into a film.
Dylan: What, no?
Zoey: Ok, we need to delve deep. Dylan’s looking into fairy porn now.
Dylan: This is cool.
Zoey: Okay, this is your next movie Dylan.

The end of the green ninja
Chapter 12 Banished
The first to get banished along with losing their powers was Kai and Cole they woke up in some kind of wasteland “Hey this place looks familiar.” Cole started to recognize the surroundings, Kai sat up and winced in pain he must’ve broken his arm during their fight earlier along with getting banished Cole helped him by using his hood ripping it so it could be used as a makeshift cast for his arm “Thanks, man.” With some help Kai stood up and leaned against Cole for support “Oh yeah. This is the first realm, we just need to find the dragons to get us out of here.” Seemed like an easy enough plan “What about the others? Lloyd is definitely going to send all of us here.” Cole pointed out which proved to be true but they didn’t know that yet so the two set off on the search for the dragons and possibly the others.
Next was Jay and Zane, landing somewhere farther from where Kai and Cole landed “Oh great. We’re here again! Not only that we’re powerless!” Jay started complaining while Zane scanned the area “No worries Jay. Remember how we got out the first time? All we need to do is find the dragons.” Hearing that seemed to have given Jay some hope “What are we waiting for? Lead the way!” He insisted but there was a pause “About that, we are transported to a different place than last time possibly further away.” They added which ultimately killed Jay’s hope as he just fell back laying on the ground “I give up.” He sighed, getting picked up by Zane hanging over their shoulder and started walking “The others must’ve been sent here as well maybe we can find them.” They pointed out and they were on their way.
Like before both parties got Morro’s transmission and both parties gave the same response “Morro get out of there! It’s a trap set by Lloyd! We’re lost in the first realm! You need to run!” But to Morro’s side it didn’t come out properly and thus he too got banished. Morro and Garmadon found themselves in the middle of nowhere “Where are we?” Morro brushed the sand off him as Garmadon tried to figure out where they arrived “I’m not sure. Perhaps there are people here that we can find.” He suggested which the wind elemental agreed with and now everyone was on their way looking for something. However they started to lose track of time and not a single one of them has found anyone else they were hopelessly lost. No dragons. No natives. Not everything was hopeless though. During their mindless walking around the Oni side was founded by none other than Morro and Garmadon “How did I not figure this out sooner? This must be the first realm.” He grabbed Morro dragging him to the inside of the Oni border mumbling to himself about not knowing their location sooner.
The two explored the area seeing all the things that was abandoned by the Oni later stumbling upon the middle of the area where it contained a platform surrounded by four pillars at each corner “Is this some kind of theater?” He asked as a joke chuckling lightly which died down in an instant “More like a place for public punishment. My father told me about how Oni would punish their kind in front of everyone.” Garmadon approached the platform seeing it up close showed the dried blood on it and now was deep in thought. His father told him many things about Oni and was trying to remember it all, the revival only gave him half of his memories which meant memories from his childhood were buried away he let out a gasp once remembering something Morro asked if he was okay and got the hushed response of “A cure.” Morro raised a brow “But we already-“ “No. There is another way, I now remember. We must look.” He grabbed Morro so they could start looking for 'the cure'.
“Kai look! Mountains!” Cole pointed to the mountains in the distance for once they found something during their time here “Finally! I thought we’d just die here.” Kai let Cole lead them to the mountains where the dragons were but they were haulted by the gap where the bridge use to be now it wasn’t too big of a problem as it was solved by jumping as far as they could reaching the other side from there was the cave and in the cave was dragons “Psst hey dragons.” Cole whispered tip toeing around heading over to the earth dragon Kai doing the same thing towards the fire dragon. Cole gently placed his hand on the earth dragon as it looked at him with recognizing before going for a few more dragons “Do you think we’ll be able to find them?” Kai asked, getting up on his dragon leading the rest out the cave waiting for Cole to get on his dragon “Positive.” He said then flew off the other dragons following pursuit.
“Zaaaane we’ve been walking forever, can we please take a break?” Jay whined tiredly walking behind Zane who was completely fine “No.” They stopped, looked around, then kept walking “Then can you at least carry me?” The nindroid did stop again to let the lightning elemental hop on their back to be carried leaning against them glad to have a break from walking “I don’t remember it being this long.” He huffed resting his head on top of Zane’s “We were transported to a different and possibly farther place than our last trip here.” They felt more weight be put on them as Jay started dozing off “Mmm we’ve been here for weeks without finding anyone. Wake me when we get there.” He closed his eyes falling sleep, Zane held onto him tight and kept going. A loud roar was heard from the sky the nindroid and the now awake lightning elemental looked up to see dragons circling around them in the air before landing “Yes!” Jay was excited to see the dragons especially the ones riding them, they landed and the ninja ran to hug each other “I thought I’d never see you guys again!” Jay clinged onto them “Is this everyone here?” Zane asked to make sure “Pretty sure Lloyd banished Morro and Garmadon here too.” “Then we should get looking.” Cole answered and Kai got back on his dragon with that they flew off. While flying Kai was thinking to himself about Ninjago and Lloyd “When I get out of here I will defeat you, Lloyd. Destiny didn’t let me be the chosen one before but now is my chance, I will take your place as the green ninja.”

Bella and Dani Thorne Announce 'Twisted Sisters' Podcast Have you ever had a cathartic talk with someone that you wish you recorded? Or maybe you think your conversations with your best friend deserve a wider audience? For famous sisters Bella and Dani Thorne, that dream is becoming a reality.Today, the duo announces Twisted Sisters, a new weekly series that will give listeners a chance to hear the two give an unfiltered and unadulterated glimpse into relationships, drama, pop culture and more. Unlike the standard podcast format, everything is done live. The inseparable duo will be able to take calls and read the chat, making the show just as much about the listeners as it is about them. Produced by Wheelhouse DNA, Twisted Sisters will air live every Wednesday from 6 to 7 PM PST via Amazon's Amp, an app that allows for anyone to DJ and host their own live shows with just their phones. Bella is best known for her role as CeCe Jones in Disney Channel's Shake It Up, starring in feature films such as The DUFF and Infamous and making her directorial debut in 2019 with the adult film Her & Him. She recently founded the alternative brand THORNE, which showcases jewelry and smoking accessories designed by Thorne herself. Dani is best known as COM3T, her electronic DJ stage name. When she's not hitting the stage at major festivals such as Bonnaroo and Lollapalooza, she runs PLANT BASED AS FCK alongside Honeybee to deliver mouth-watering vegan food across Los Angeles.Below, read PAPER's chat with Bella about the conception of Twisted Sisters, what it's like to work alongside a sibling and the best late-night hangover grub. So for those uninitiated with the platform, how is it different from the normal podcast format?Dani and I have always wanted to do a podcast. We have like all those late-night conversations where we're like, "It'd be good to see what other people think about this and get their opinions!" And then Amp approached us at Amazon, and we said yes! We've always wanted to capture late-night conversations with girls talking shit and really get people's perspectives on things. Because it's live, you can see them chatting with us.How will the show's weekly structure work? We're always gonna start off with three positive things. Then we'll get into the nitty gritty for each week. It could either be games or a whole relationship episode, maybe something that's geared towards pop culture and talk about what everybody else is talking about in the world right now. We're planning to jump a little all over the board. How does it feel to be interacting with your fans in such an intimate and live way as opposed to Instagram and Twitter?I'm excited! I'm also somewhat worried. I like to be in my bubble, a little bit unreachable. This will definitely not be that. But I'm most excited to see feedback in real-time. I think that's going to be really fun and will definitely bring me a lot closer to my fans because we see eye-to-eye on a lot of things. It will be nice to see that as I'm actually doing the podcast and see what their thoughts are and get more into their lives and relationships. You and your sister come from two very different worlds, with her as a successful DJ and you as an actress and entrepreneur. What would you say are some of your biggest similarities and differences that we'd be able to see on Twisted Sisters?I think that just by hearing us speak, it's gonna be kind of confusing already. People think our voices sound alike, so that's gonna be pretty funny. I think that's finishing each other's sentences is always a good one. We say the same things a lot of time and we're always jinxing each other because of it. We have so many similarities!I think that our biggest difference is that I'm a little "glass half empty" and Dani is definitely "glass half full." I think together that makes a really well-balanced mindset. She's always been a positive light in certain situations, and I think that it helps when listening to her on the podcast. People get to hear us talk about things that aren't always easy to talk about such as family trauma and then give each other advice on how to move on and become strong or feel better about a situation. I'm really excited to hear it and have other people put themselves in the same situation to go, "Oh, yeah, definitely. This is good advice."In a way, it seems like you want to bring back the beauty of those old-school relationship advice shows on the radio like Loveline! That's exactly what I pitched! When I was growing up, we'd hear Ryan's Roses and stuff in the morning where people would call in and talk about their own relationship stuff. I always thought that it was so interesting to hear about somebody that you don't know where they are in life, and yet you guys still connect over something. I think that that's very intriguing. Old-school radio shows were my references. There's something so satisfying about being able to hear someone else's issues, regardless of whether or not you relate, and hear how a third party would handle it. Yeah, definitely. And I think it'll open my eyes a lot as well. You know, it works both ways with us giving advice and then listeners giving us advice, and really getting to hear their stories and giving us a different perspective. Finally, what is the strangest hill that you'd die on?I think the best late-night drunk food is street dogs. They got the bacon-wrapped street dogs with extra jalapenos, sauerkraut, onions, mustard, mayonnaise. They just throw it all out there, and I'm gonna stick by it! I think that's the best food.Twisted Sisters: Dani & Bella Thorne premieres live on Wednesday, January 25 at 6:00 PM PST on Amp.Photos courtesy of Dakota Robbins (Raen Photography) https://www.papermag.com/bella-dani-thorne-podcast-2659274204.html

“Happy birthday to me.” The words tumble loosely from your lips on a heaved breath, your fingers curled lazily around a cold glass of whiskey.
It isn’t a rare occurrence to see you perched atop a stool at the edge of the bar, nursing your third glass at 2am on a Friday night. Or rather Saturday morning. It’s one of the only places you can find solace, away from nosy coworkers and nosier acquaintances. The loneliness is soberingly blissful. You never cared much for social interaction.
At this point the bar is emptying, only a handful of bodies sticking around in the early hours. In the reflections of the rows of glass liquor bottles you see them again. Two lanky figures sitting in the corner booth at the back of the establishment. Any normal person would see them and think nothing. But you know better. When you first walked into the bar six months ago they were in that exact spot, and every time afterward they’d be there when you walked in and stayed after you left.
You, being observant as you are, always watched everything from your spot at the bar, the slightly warped images in the glass serving as your eyes for the night. It didn’t take long for you to figure the two were watching you every time you stepped inside. The blonde one always sat with his back to you, and his head would occasionally turn in the reflection. You’d alternate seats to make sure you weren’t imagining things, but it only confirmed what you’d suspected.
Not that you cared enough to do anything about it.
As long as they keep their distance you’re perfectly content letting them look. And they did keep their distance. They’d never even come within 5 feet of you, seemingly happy with just lingering glances. Of course, tonight would be a different story.
You watch as their glassy reflections stand up, the distance between you and them shrinking with each of their long strides. You let your eyes fall to the amber liquid in your hands, praying they’d only pass you by on their way out. Two sets of footsteps approached, two bodies popped up on either side of you, and a deep, silky smooth voice sounded on your right.
“Mind if we take a seat?” A glance to your right revealed a rugged, yet handsome man peering down at you with his deep, tired onyx eyes. Long raven hair spilled over his shoulders, framing his chiseled jaw peppered with barely tamed scruff and a scar curved along his cheekbone. You turn to look at his friend, long blonde hair pulled up into a high bun and hypnotic green eyes focused on you behind orange tinted sunglasses despite being indoors past midnight. He is handsome as well, a small mustache on his smiling lips, high cheekbones and a sharp jawline drawing you in.
You couldn’t help but feel they look familiar, somehow. You’d seen their faces before, somewhere, but you pushed that to the back of your mind for now.
It wouldn’t hurt to let them sit with you, right? They seem friendly enough, and it’s better to entertain them in case things go south should you reject their request. With a small, tired smile, you nod.
“Sure thing, fellas.” They both plop down on either side of you and the blonde immediately gets talking.
“So what’s the occasion, little listener?” Two thoughts came to mind. One, how did he know there was any occasion, two, what kind of pet name is ‘little listener’? Your confusion must have shown on your face, because the raven haired man spoke up.
“You’re pretty dolled up for a night at the bar, kitten.” Ah. So they had been watching you. You aren’t wearing anything that would normally be considered ‘dolled up’. Your tan sweater and black skirt are relatively plain, and the platform boots you’re wearing accompanied by your thigh-high socks are something you’re experimenting with.
But usually you entered the bar with a white button-up and black slacks from your job as a waitress. Today you had time to go home and pamper yourself a bit before heading to your usual drinking spot. Evidently, they noticed. You bring your glass up to your lips and gulp down the remaining liquid before entertaining the question.
“Nothing special. Call it a birthday party.” And hey, you mean it when you say it isn’t special. Your birthday only marks yet another routine year on this earth. The blonde nudges your shoulder with his own.
“I’d say that’s pretty special, sunshine!” The alcohol must be affecting you, because you chuckle a bit at his enthusiasm.
“Just another year gone by, you know?” You’re never this talkative sober. The man on your right rapped his knuckles on the bartop, the barkeep making his way over with a tired smile.
“One more glass for this pretty kitty here.” The name had your eyebrows raising.
“This one’s on me.” As the fresh glass was sat on the bartop you scoffed quietly.
“Kitty?” A deep hum came from the man.
“Well how would you describe yourself, kitten?” Somewhere in your muddled brain you warned yourself not to be self-deprecating on your 25th birthday. You didn’t listen.
“Definitely not feline. I’m short and chunky and the only thing cat-like about me is my posture and eyeliner,” you stated, matter-of-factly. As a waitress at an esteemed high-end restaurant, you had to learn to be quick on your feet, agile, and most importantly, poised. A hum comes from the blonde, a muttered ‘pretty and humble’ floating on his breath. You force a chuckle at the statement.
“Pretty is also a word I wouldn’t use to describe myself.” A short silence falls between the three of you, and you take the time to study their faces. Where had you seen them before? You’re certain if you’d met them before you’d remember them, you don’t tend to forget attractive people.
They’re oddly patient as they watch the cogs in your brain turn, your eyes taking in every detail of every feature. Your breath caught and your eyes went wide when you’d finally placed their faces.
“Present Mic and Eraserhead. You’re pro heroes.” The words are quiet, nearly imperceptible as you breathe them, but they’re close enough to hear. Present Mic beams at the recognition.
“In the flesh, sunshine. But we’d prefer you use our names.” Eraserhead leans away and sticks a hand out for a handshake.
“Shouta Aizawa.” You shake his hand and turn to the blonde, who similarly has his hand held out.
“Hizashi Yamada.” You introduce yourself, a bit shaky and only slightly starstruck. What in the world are two pro heroes doing talking to you? As you regain your composure you excuse yourself to the restroom. You weren’t prepared to talk to heroes tonight. A glance in the mirror has you sobering yourself, rationalizing their strange behavior. These two are pro heroes. They were clearly only worried about your safety, a woman all alone in a bar till the earliest hours of the morning. ‘That’s why they were watching me’, you muse. You quickly fix yourself, then step back out to the two heroes.
The three of you pass another hour of time before you decide it’s time for you to head home. They offer to give you a lift, but you politely decline. You can't intrude on them any more than you already had. Hizashi insists otherwise.
“Please Sunshine? If something were to happen to you we’d never forgive ourselves!” It made sense to you. They’re pro heroes after all, it’s in their nature to worry. So you oblige to ease their anxieties.
Since Shouta hadn’t touched any alcohol, he’s driving, and you punch your address into the GPS system of their very expensive looking car. As you sit back, Hizashi holds a bottle over his head.
“Water?” You thank him and drain the bottle, realizing you’re a bit more dehydrated than you initially thought. In your semi-drunk haze you fail to notice that the bottle had already been opened, and you miss Shouta’s eyes watching you down the beverage through the rearview mirror.
It’s only five minutes later you feel drowsy, your head lolling to the side and eyelids drooping. You don’t quite register the question Hizashi asks you, and when you don’t answer he turns around to look at you.
“You seem tired, Sunshine. Take a nap, we’ll wake you up when we get there.” Your exhaustion takes hold over any rational thoughts, and with a sleepy nod, you stretch out over the backseat and let your mind slip into unconsciousness, blissfully unaware you’ll never see your apartment again.
The first thing you notice as you wake up is how stiff and sore your muscles are. It takes you a moment to realize you aren’t in your clothes from last night, nor are you in your own bed. Your eyes snap open and you sit up, taking in the unfamiliar room. With a curse under your breath you scour your memory for anything, checking if you’d gone home with anyone or gotten yourself in a tight situation. The last thing you remember is being driven home by the two pros, then passing out in their backseat.
Questions began forming in your mind. ‘Where am I? How did I get here? Where had the two heroes gone?’ In an attempt to think clearer, you try crossing your legs, but your ankle is stopped short by something heavy. Throwing off the blanket, a thick metal cuff glinted in the light of the room, an equally thick chain leading somewhere over the side of the bed.
When your breathing begins to quicken, you settle your mind, refusing to panic. Willing yourself to relax, you begin to think about how you can get out of this situation. ‘Today should be Saturday. Assuming this room is part of a house, someone would most likely still be here’. With a small breath, you speak, hopefully loud enough for someone to hear you.
“H-hello? Is someone there?” It only takes a few seconds for footsteps to reach your ears, and the door opens to the last person you’re expecting to see. A ruggedly handsome Shouta Aizawa stands in the doorway, leaning against the doorframe with a small smirk on his lips.
“Good morning, Kitty.” As endearing as the pet name is, the only emotion you feel right now is confusion. Your mind is drifting to all the fanfiction you’d read online, piecing together the events of last night like a puzzle. ‘The bottle of water was already open’. In your defense, they’re pro heroes, it’s only natural for you-- or anyone, really-- to let your guard down. A large hand on your shoulder jolts you back to reality, your eyes wide as you stare up at Shouta like a deer in headlights.
“You okay Kitten?” All you can manage as you settle your thoughts is to blink up at the man, swallowing down the lump in your throat before letting out a shaky breath.
“Let me guess. I’m home now, aren’t I?” The man stares back down at you with subtly raised eyebrows before chuckling softly.
“That’s not the reaction I was expecting, but I can’t say I’m mad about it. You’re a smart little kitty, aren’t you.” He leaves you to your thoughts and your mind begins reeling once again. You understand this is wrong, that you shouldn’t be so willing, so obedient. You also know how boring your life has been up until now. How mundane and lonely you’d been for as long as you can remember.
You’d cut ties with your family long ago, and ‘friend’ is a very loose term. Most of the people you called friends are acquaintances at best, your antisociality and trust issues meant ‘making friends’ is not on your life agenda. Somehow you knew, deep down, you wanted something like this to happen. You longed to give up control, to let someone else string you along and take the reins and let you relax, not have to worry about anything anymore. That side of you tended to make itself known through your explorative late teen years.
You’d had romantic partners before, though once anything intimate came up they all refused to associate with you anymore. They couldn’t understand your want to give up control, your need to submit. They refused to collar you ‘like an animal’. None of your partners ever understood the weight behind such a garment. This may be your chance at the relationship you’d always craved, regardless of its twisted nature.
Then there’s the logical side, the chances of you actually escaping. As a quirkless human in the presence of two trained pro heroes (assuming Hizashi is also in on this), the likelihood of you making it out is slim to nonexistent. If you somehow manage to get out, the two could easily track you down and just as easily drag you back. So, as wrong as it seems, you don’t fight it.
Shouta returns with a tray of breakfast, setting it down on your lap after you’d adjusted yourself to lean against the headboard. As he pulls back you mumble a ‘thank you’ and begin to eat, acknowledging the pang of hunger in your belly. As weird as it seems to say ‘thank you’ to your captor, you find it could be helpful even if only a little. Being polite is automatic, but it’s also a great way to make sure you don’t end up injured, or worse, dead somewhere, so for once in a long time your manners are intended. You’d gotten halfway through your meal when Shouta speaks up.
“You’re taking this really well.” He almost seems skeptical. You peer up at him as you finish the food in your mouth.
“There isn’t much use panicking. I’d only end up hurting myself. Besides, it’s not like I can get out.” You motion to the cuff around your ankle and he gives a small chuckle.
“You’re not wrong, kitten.” He leaves to let you finish breakfast, returning ten minutes later and taking your empty tray. He comes back right after, a pair of handcuffs and a blindfold in hand.
“I’m sure you need to use the bathroom.” You give a small nod, acknowledging the pressure in your bladder for the first time since you woke up. Gently, he takes your wrists and locks the cuffs around them, then holds up the blindfold before going to tie it around your head.
“These are just a precaution.” Soon you feel the cuff on your ankle fall away, and Shouta’s strong arms loop under your knees and back as he lifts you off the bed. You’re both surprised and not that he can lift you with relative ease. He is a pro hero after all. It takes less than 30 seconds for him to stop and gently place you down, taking the blindfold and cuffs off.
“I’ll be waiting just outside the door. Once you’re done, knock and I’ll take you back to bed.” You nod and he leaves, locking the door once he’s outside. Of course it locks from the outside. You take a moment to just think about your current predicament. Currently you’re locked in the house of a pro hero, being kept against your will (sort of). Your life had just taken an unexpected turn.
You knock on the door like Shouta said, and it isn’t long before you’re back on the bed with the cuff around your ankle. As he turns to leave you stop him, and he turns back to you with a quirked eyebrow.
“Can I...draw?” You didn’t know if he’d actually let you have anything, but it was worth a shot. If you were to be cooped up here you need to keep yourself occupied. With a low hum, he leaves the room and comes back with a sketch pad, pencil, and eraser.
Days come and go with either of the pros serving you three meals a day. They begin questioning your obedience, especially Hizashi. He questioned your lack of panic and how you never seemed to try to escape. Even he knows this isn’t normal. Shouta seems less skeptical, like he’d expected less of a fight than any normal, sane person would give. When Hizashi asked questions you answered truthfully. Lying is of no use to you.
“Really, I don’t mind it here. So far my life has been pretty shitty and boring, so this turn of events is mildly appreciated. Besides, you treat me relatively well, considering I’m being held captive, so I can’t say I’m upset.” You’d guessed from both your reading and their actions that they truly believed they cared about you. The chances of them hurting you are slim, so you’re able to live with them without fear.
The cuff around your ankle came off about a week in, and Shouta gave you the freedom to roam the house, though it wasn’t without warning. He held his hand out to you, an offer to help you stand, and you took it. Slowly, you swing your legs over the side of the bed and shift your weight to your feet. Your legs shake like a newborn fawn, but Shouta held you to let you stretch your legs and get comfortable walking again.
He led you out to what you assume is the dining table and sat you down, Shouta taking the seat on your right. You assume Hizashi is in the kitchen, what with the clatter and smell of food. Shouta asked what you’d been drawing, which caught you a bit off guard, but you answered anyway.
“Koi fish.” He hummed, focused on you.
“Any particular reason why?” You take a moment to think about your answer, it’s not a question you’re used to responding to.
“Well they’re gorgeous creatures. Elegant, sleek and graceful. The way they move is so mesmerizing, smooth and flawless like a flowing creek. I’ve always loved drawing koi.”
The conversation lapses into your fascination with the fish, how they somehow remind you of dragons and how the fantastical creature’s existence isn’t as far-fetched as it’s made out to be. Hizashi joins soon enough, serving dinner and listening in on the conversation.
Once you all finish eating you get comfortable on the couch, nestled between the two men. It isn’t long before you drift off to sleep, their body heat lulling you into dreamland. Shouta carries you to bed, carefully laying you down and pressing a light kiss to your temple. He stands above you, admiring your features as you sleep.
You’re gorgeous to him, a goddess in your own right. He and his blonde counterpart had started watching you mainly because you were a woman, completely alone and seemingly unarmed in a bar until the earliest hours of the morning. Neither of them could tell if you were quirkless or not, and as heroes they made sure to keep an eye on you during their weekly trip to the bar should you get into any trouble.
But eventually it became a habit to look for you, and the more they looked the farther they fell. You looked as exhausted as Shouta every time you stepped through the doors, hair just beginning to lose its style and shoulders sagged. But you were so beautiful, even in your exhausted state. Hizashi was the first to mention his infatuation to Shouta, but the raven-haired man had already figured the blonde was into you.
Soon enough they began to get antsy, constantly watching you walk out the door into the dead of night all alone. You’re just too trusting of the world outside, not taking enough precautions for a woman of your caliber. They made it their mission to make sure you were safe, and one day, take you back home where they could protect you.
Now that you’re here, it’s like a dream. Even as you sleep you’re the most beautiful thing in the world. How your lashes flutter against your cheeks, the way your lips softly part with every breath, how your chest gently rises and falls, it all makes him stare down at you in complete awe. It takes a great deal of willpower for him to tear his eyes away from you and join Hizashi in their room.
*
***3 months later***
*
A couple months have passed since you’d...moved in with the two men, and you can’t say you hate it. They’ve respected your privacy, allowing you to stay in your own room and letting you bathe yourself after refusing their attempts at persuading you to join them. Honestly it’s been nice living with them.
Though, the longer you’re with them the more thoughts begin gathering and swirling in your head. Caring thoughts, how their days progress, how they’re feeling at any point in time. And needy, dirty thoughts. Any time those pop up you make it a point to push them deep down into the farthest recesses of your brain, refusing to fuel those pesky embers.
Somewhere in the back of your mind you know what’s happening, what’s been happening. You’re no stranger to Stockholm Syndrome, having done your own minimal research on the subject a few years back. You constantly tell yourself this isn’t normal, nor is it healthy, to enjoy the company of your captors. You have to remind yourself that they had taken you from everything you knew, and even though there wasn’t much for you to love, they’d taken you from that as well.
But soon enough the illogical prevailed, because despite all of that, the two have been nothing but good to you.
In no time at all the days you spend alone in the large house are the days you find yourself missing their company, hoping they’d return sooner. You managed to dig through their clothes and pick out some of their older t-shirts, and began wearing them around the house. Their lingering scents have been a comfort as you patiently wait for them to come back. They don’t seem to mind at all, so you’re content.
As time passes you get closer with them, gravitating toward them and snuggling into either of their sides, letting them wrap an arm around you and tug you into them. You began giving kisses when they left and returned, a small peck on the cheek at the door. The first time you had engaged a kiss was a shock to both of them.
You had tugged Shouta’s sleeve and when he turned you silently grabbed his collar and yanked him down, leaving a small peck on his cheek, doing the same with Hizashi. They barely had the time to react before you dashed to your room and curled under the blankets, face heated and heart pounding like some schoolgirl who had confessed to her crush and got a positive response. That night you’d received more cuddles and kisses than normal.
The kisses became routine, and before long you all slept in the same bed. Strangely enough, life began to feel somewhat normal. The house began to feel like home.
And soon enough that schoolgirl crush manifested into something dirty, something lustful and carnal. Just as much as you long to be around them, you want desperately to feel their hands on your bare skin, mapping out the curves of your body as you writhe beneath them. You crave them and their touch. But of course you still have your pride. Dropping hints would have to suffice.
Slowly, subtly, you dress lighter, more scantily. No shorts under their t-shirts that barely cover your ass, allowing the stretched collars to drop and expose the slightest peek of skin. After a shower you walk back to the room in nothing but a towel, allowing the edge to ride up your thighs. Your tactics seemed to work, their eyes glued to the newly exposed skin, soaking in your plush thighs and soft skin. Their stares make you ache, but after weeks of nothing but lingering glances you decide to toss your pride out the window.
You have dinner ready when they walk in the door, and after everyone had eaten and showered you usher them both to the couch while you sit facing them from the coffee table. Their confusion is evident on their faces, your nervous fidgeting and reluctance to look them in the eyes didn’t help. What you’re about to bring up is embarrassing to say the least, but staying silent would be a detriment to your sanity. With a steadying breath, you meet their gaze and quietly force out your seemingly ridiculous request.
“So… I enjoy being here with you,” your fingers twist into the hem of your shirt and you swallow down the lump in your throat, “and I really appreciate that you’ve given me anything I asked for-”
“No.” Shouta’s voice suddenly cuts off your sentence.
“You can’t go outside, Kitten. I’m sorry, but that’s non-negotiable right now.” You blink dumbly at him, completely thrown off balance by his statement before you catch yourself, waving your hands frantically in front of you.
“No! Oh god, that’s not…um…. I wasn’t asking to go outside. I love being here, with you, and doing whatever but...it’s what we don’t do...that’s bothering me...just a little bit…” By now your voice is so quiet and high-pitched you wonder if they can even hear you. Hizashi, bless his heart, is just as confused as before the conversation started.
“Sunshine, you aren’t making much sense. If you think about it, there’s actually a lot we don’t do.” Shouta holds a hand up, silencing the blonde. His dark eyes drag over your body, watching the way your thighs almost imperceptibly rub together and you can’t meet his gaze. You squirm, the intensity in his eyes something you aren’t used to but it makes you hot all over. His hand comes down on his thigh twice.
“Come here, Kitty.” Slowly, you stand and walk to him, letting his hands grab your hips and pull you down to straddle his lap. A finger curls under your chin, angling your head to look Shouta in the eyes. A small smirk pulls the corner of his mouth, a moment of realization flashing across his face.
“Our little Kitty is getting needy ‘Zashi. Isn’t that right, Kitten?” Heat flooded your face, your embarrassment and arousal sending hot blood to your face and chest. You squeeze your eyes shut and nod, hoping they’d do something about the very horny state you’re in. Shouta’s hand moves to your hip again, lifting you and placing you in Hizashi’s lap before standing and walking away.
The blonde cooed at the surprised squeak you let out at the sudden movement, and you open your eyes to his wide grin. Leaning forward, he wraps his arms around your waist and presses his lips to yours in a sweet kiss. It feels nice, and you let your body melt into him and his warmth, his long fingers digging into the flesh of your lower back as he tugs you closer and a pleasant haze settles over your mind.
It’s a blissful moment shared between you, and Shouta returns just as Hizashi pulls away from the kiss. They share a look you can’t place before the former raises a hand to gently stroke your arm, leaving goosebumps in its wake. He seems conflicted, trying to mull over some sort of decision in his brain, his brows just barely drawn and jaw set. When his eyes dropped to his other hand, yours followed, to find he held a long thin black velvet box. Clearly it holds some sort of jewelry.
After a few moments he turns it to you and lifts the lid, and your heart damn near stops beating. Whether it’s from excitement or a brief flash of fear, you don’t know. These two have been watching you for much longer than just at the bar. Those few months are only the tip of the iceberg, but how they’d come to notice you would probably forever remain a mystery to you.
Right now, all that matters is that they know everything. From your failed relationships to the reason they’d all ended. They had to know, that’s the only explanation. There’s no possible way it’s pure coincidence that you now gaze down at a beautifully crafted leather collar. It’s simple, thin, black dotted sparsely with sparkling gems and a dainty metal ring centered at the front. Tentatively, you reach out and trace the leather with your fingers.
“Is this...for me?” A deep hum sounds in Shouta’s chest, and that’s answer enough for you. Shouta plucks the garment from its seat and moves behind you. The cool leather feels heavenly as he loops it around your neck, his fingers brushing your skin. Everything seemed to go quiet as you waited for something, anything, to solidify this moment.
Click.
You shudder out a breath you didn’t realize you’d been holding. Shouta tilts your head and presses his lips to yours, looping a finger through the collar and giving a gentle tug. It makes you mewl, allowing him space to slip his tongue behind your teeth. He can see your pupils dilate when he pulls away, plush lips slick with saliva, lust invading your mind. You look so needy and desperate for them, so fucking gorgeous.
Hizashi leaves a kiss on your cheek then picks you up and places you on your feet. Both men grab either of your hands, lacing their fingers with yours, and gently pull you with them to the bedroom. Hizashi begins undressing first, and you can only let your eyes drag over his bare upper body for a moment before Shouta grabs your chin and distracts you with another kiss. This one is more passionate, heated, rough as his tongue effortlessly invades and dominates your mouth. Hizashi’s voice permeates your lust-filled haze.
“Come here, baby.” Shouta pulls away and allows you to walk over to where the blonde sits naked on the edge of the bed. He motions for you to turn around and you oblige, then he grabs your hips and pulls you back to sit in his lap, your back pressed to his chest. You watch as Shouta undresses, baring his skin to you as Hizashi tasks himself with undressing you.
Your shirt is the first to be removed, a groan spilling from the blonde when he discovers you aren’t wearing a bra. He pulls you flush against his chest, peppering wet kisses down your neck and shoulders as your eyes roam over Shouta’s sculpted frame. The raven haired man makes his way over, kneeling down between your legs and reaching up to toy with your breasts, rough fingers working your nipples until they peak. Hizashi’s hands find their way down to the pouch of your stomach, grabbing at the soft pliant flesh and squishing the fat there.
You let out a low whine, feeling extremely self-conscious with his hands working at the parts of your body you hate the most. You grab at his wrists in an attempt to pull him away, but he hushes you and whispers into your ear, his breath hot on your neck.
“It’s okay, pretty baby. Let me feel you.” You will yourself to let him go, let his hands explore your body the way he wants. He keeps his hands on your belly, long fingers massaging into your skin.
“You’re so beautiful, you know that?” He’s nipping and kissing at your neck, whispering praises into your ear as he fondles all the fatty parts of you.
Shouta’s hands reach up and tug your panties down, then grip your thighs and pull them apart, exposing you to his hungry eyes. You can’t help but feel exposed, uncomfortable, as they touch and gaze at every part of yourself you had always despised. A whimper builds in your chest, tears beginning to sting your eyes and your breath shaking. Hizashi leans over and kisses your tears away as Shouta leans forward and kisses at your belly and thighs, hands working at whatever flesh he couldn’t get his lips on.
“Let us love you. All of you. You’re such a pretty kitty.” You let yourself relax, let yourself relish in the fact that these two gorgeous men are doting over your body like you’re a goddess, like they couldn’t live if they didn’t worship every one of your perfect imperfections. Though you’re far from comfortable, the initial fear subsides, allowing them full access to you.
“Good girl kitty, good girl.” Shouta whispers as he nips at your thighs, sucking little red marks into your skin. He hooks your legs over Hizashi’s, and the blonde’s fingers dip down to tease your folds, barely breaching your little hole and making you buck for more friction. A soft moan slips from your lips as he pushes two long fingers into your soaked pussy.
You rock your hips into his hand, his palm barely brushing against your clit making you mewl. Shouta focuses his attention on your breasts and belly where Hizashi left bare, kneading and kissing and licking, leaving blooming marks all over your skin. Soon you feel a knot form in your stomach, tightening and burning impossibly hot. Hizashi feels your pussy clenching around his fingers and quickens his pace, grinding his palm down against your clit hard and curling his fingers to hit that spot that has you seeing stars.
When the knot snaps you’re falling apart on Hizashi’s lap, back arched and legs shaking. You throw your head back against his shoulder and cry out, pleasure racking your body in intense waves. Hizashi keeps moving his fingers inside you, letting you ride out your high, legs trembling and toes curling with the continued stimulation.
After your release you relax back down, chest heaving with every breath. Hizashi lifts you up and lays you down on the bed, Shouta crawling up over you and kissing you sweetly. He grabs your legs and wraps them around his waist, lining up his painfully hard erection with your throbbing pussy.
“Are you ready for me kitty?” You look up at him through your lashes and nod fervently, needing him desperately despite the sensitivity. He tugs at your collar gently.
“Use your words kitty cat. Are you ready for me?” Your eyes widen slightly and you answer without any real thought.
“Yes Daddy.” Shouta growls at the name and swears under his breath, thrusting his hips forward and bottoming out all at once. The air is punched from your lungs, the stretch around his thick length almost enough to make you cum a second time. Shouta leans down and kisses at the bruises Hizashi had left on your neck, giving you some time to adjust. It only takes a few moments for your walls to stop clamping down on him.
“I’m going to move now kitty. Relax for me.” He starts slow, groaning as he watches his length slide in and out of you.
Your warmth feels so good around his cock, and he moves faster, driving his cock so deep you swear you can feel him in your throat. Hizashi lays down next to you and puts two fingers into your mouth, your tongue sliding over them, coating them in your saliva.
He pulls them out and goes to rub your clit, leaning over and placing open mouth kisses along your collarbone, sucking new bruises onto your skin. Your legs quake with the quick building pleasure, your second orgasm creeping up fast. Suddenly both men stop their movements, Shouta pulling your body flush against him and sitting up.
Lithe, cold fingers suddenly dance around your back entrance, toying with your puckered hole. A single finger pushes in and you mewl and squirm at the new sensation. A second finger works its way in, the two digits working to stretch you gently. Soon there’s a third, and when you’re relaxed the fingers are gone and replaced by the thick head of Hizashi’s cock.
“You ready, sweet thing?” You nod and whine, a little weary but ready to be full of the two men. He slowly inches his way inside, shallow thrusts sinking him deeper until his hips are flush with your ass. Both men pepper wet kisses along your shoulders, giving you time to relax, but you don’t need it. You whine, wiggle your hips in an attempt to get them to move, and they oblige.
Their initial pace is slow, letting you feel every ridge and vein as they slip in and out of you. They build up a rhythm, when one is bottomed out the other has only the tip in, and soon you’re drooling from the amount of stimulation you’re getting. Hizashi’s fingers move down to work at your clit, and just the slightest touch has you trembling. The stimulation shoves you over the edge and has you cumming hard around them, your slick dripping down your thighs. They slow their pace slightly, your holes clamping down on them and attempting to milk them dry. Hizashi’s fingers rub your clit harder, overstimulating you.
“Do you have one more for us baby? I know you can cum one more time for us.” You whine, thrashing in their arms trying to simultaneously get away and tug them closer. Tears fall down your cheeks and a familiar tension fills the pit of your stomach and Shouta leans over and bites down on your shoulder. The pain pulls you over, crying out as you clamp down on their lengths hard. Their hips stutter as they chase their own release, and they shoot rope after rope of cum into you as you ride out your own high.
They still their movements, holding you and each other close. After a few moments they pull out together, the movement making you moan and tremble. Your body goes limp and Shouta pulls you to lean against him, stroking your hair and back. You’re sobbing softly into Shouta’s shoulder, your last release washing over your body almost painfully, your bones already beginning to ache. Shouta rubs your back softly and Hizashi peppers soft kisses along your shoulders, both cooing praises in your ears.
Shouta picks you up and the three of you go over to the bathroom, where Hizashi plugs the drain and turns on the tap to fill the large tub with hot water. Shouta climbs in and sits down, still cradling you, and the slowly rising water begins to soothe you. Hizashi pulls out a tube of ointment and rubs it onto Shouta’s back, relieving the scratch marks you left on him. After tending to Shouta he unlocks your collar and sinks into the tub, leaning against you. You let the two massage you and wash you, bringing you back from the intense scene.
“You okay kitten?” Shouta rumbles into your ear, petting your hair. You nod into his shoulder and grab Hizashi’s hand, wanting to be close to the both of them. The hot water and the care of the two bring you back down to earth, and you start to feel fatigue pulling at your consciousness. Hizashi notices you drifting off and takes you from Shouta. He dries you off with a towel and locks your collar back around your neck.
“Sho, I’m going to take her to bed. When you’re ready come join us.” Shouta hums and Hizashi carries you to bed.
You lay with Hizashi and cuddle into his chest, letting him hold you and rock you as you drift off. After a few minutes you feel the bed behind you dip and look up at Shouta with half lidded eyes. He gives you a peck on the lips before nuzzling against your back. With a long, soft sigh you melt into their arms, content with the new life you’d been brought into.

________
One Week Later
“Y/N, can we get orange?” asked Arrow from where she sat in the shopping cart. She pointed at the tubes of frosting and you took one off, handing it to her as you went back to searching for a box of red velvet mix.
“Come on,” you sighed, squatting down. You saw one shoved in the back and you bent down, reaching back to get it. You huffed when you pulled it back, the expiration date still plenty good. “Score. Okay Arrow what other color…”
She wasn’t in the cart anymore as you stood, her bright pink shirt and shorts nowhere in sight.
“Arrow!” you shouted, people from the farther end of the aisle turning to look at you. You breathed hard and spun around, exiting the aisle and looking at the checkouts. “Arrow!”
“Mam,” said a man in a white dress shirt and slacks, walking over with a headset on.
“I had a little girl with me and she’s missing and she was in the cart and I would have heard her climb out,” you said, walking quickly, the man following with you as you checked down aisles. “Arrow!”
You heard the guy talk into his headset when you caught pink and a guy near the front of the store. She spun around and you ran over, the manager not too far behind you. You didn’t say a word when you kicked the back of the guys knee and grabbed Arrow, picking her up.
“What’d I do?” he said, Arrow turning away. He looked more angry than you were expecting and you swallowed, the manager urging you back. “She’s the one that took my granddaughter!”
“She’s not your fucking granddaughter, pervert. I’m her nanny and soon to be step-mom so you can back the fuck off.”
“Step fucking what?” he said, his face going blank.
“Grandpa I told you Y/N’s my friend,” said Arrow. You blinked and stared at the man.
“Prove it,” you said. The man angrily pulled out his wallet and ripped out a picture, turning it around. It was a large group photo but you could clearly see Jensen and the kids in it along with… “You’re her father. Danneel.”
“Who the fuck are you,” he said. You took out your phone and went to your pictures, showing him one of your backyard bonfire from the weekend before.
“Is there a problem?” asked the manager. You shook your head and he rolled his eyes and left.
“Sir, I’m so sorry,” you said. He nodded and glanced down.
“Well, I can’t blame you. I understand the feeling,” he said.
“Can we...talk?” you asked.
“I think that’d be best before somebody else gets their ass kicked.”
Fifteen minutes later you had your bag of baking supplies in your trunk, Arrow was playing on the jungle gym and you were sat at a picnic table with Danneel’s parents.
“You guys came down early for JJ’s birthday, huh,” you said.
“We had to come down this weekend instead. Something came up last minute next week,” said her mom. You nodded and took a deep breath.
“I am so sorry. That is absolutely not how Jensen and I wanted to tell you both.”
“I’m old but I’m tough. I’ll survive,” said her father. You looked over to where Arrow was playing, gnawing on your bottom lip. “You said you were the nanny and soon to be step mom. Mind unraveling that for us?”
“I uh, I started working for Jensen in January as a nanny to help with the kids. The relationship part came a few weeks later. We’ve been engaged very briefly. Don’t even have a ring or anything yet,” you said, shaking your head. “Please don’t be mad at him. It’s taken him so long to stop feeling guilty for having feelings for me. Please don’t be upset with him. I don’t...I’m not trying to replace anyone or anything. I didn’t want to like him. But I did and I love him and he deserves to be happy again.”
They looked at one another and back at you.
“Good,” they both said.
“Excuse me?”
“We think he deserves to be happy too. He was in such a bad place after the accident,” she said. “He’s sounded like himself again recently.”
“Plus if you’re willing to kick my ass for thinking I took Arrow, that gets you some brownie points,” he said with a smile. You nodded and looked down at the table, swallowing. “Not what you were expecting?”
“Your daughter’s husband is engaged to a younger woman. I wouldn’t blame you at all for whatever you might think,” you said.
“He’s got a lot of time left,” he said. “He doesn’t have to be miserable for it. We don’t want that for him. It’s not what she’d want. He’s doing exactly what she’d want from him and that’s all we can ask of him. Well and maybe stick around the country for a bit so we can see the kids some more.”
“Yeah, no plans to be anywhere but home right now,” you said. You looked over at Arrow and watched her jump off a high platform. She fell down to her knees but got up and brushed them off before she was running again.
“She’d like you,” you heard, your attention going back to the two of them. She was staring at you and you smiled.
“You don’t know a thing about me mam.”
“I think we know the important parts,” she said. You nodded and glanced down. “What do Jensen’s parents think of all this?”
“They know he’s dating but that’s it. I’m supposed to meet them next week,” you said.
“We’ll keep our lips sealed for the time being then,” she said. “What about your folks? What do they think of Jensen and the kids?”
“The kids probably haven’t met either parent yet, right?” he said.
“It’s kinda complicated...I was adopted. My mom died a long time ago. I don’t have a dad or family really,” you said. You pursed your lips and picked at the corner of the table with your fingernail, the air heavy.
“Well we approve of him,” he said. “He’s a good kid.”
“I know. He’s very special,” you said. “I just wish something so horrible didn’t have to happen to him and your daughter in order to meet him.”
“We can’t change that fact,” she said. “She’d want you to take care of him, keep an eye on him. Oh and remind him to take a break and slow down every once in a while. He always gets so caught up in work and being on the go. She had to calm him down sometimes.”
“I have noticed that trend,” you said. “I hope you don’t feel like he’s going to forget-”
“No we don’t worry about that. If we learned anything from this it’s just that you have to live while you have the chance,” he said as Arrow ran over.
“Y/N, I’m hungry,” she said.
“Alright, munchkin. Why don’t we head home and maybe your grandma and grandpa will have lunch with us?” you asked.
“We’d love to,” they said. “We’ll meet you two there.”
“That went shockingly well,” said Jensen late that night when you were having an extra slice of JJ’s early birthday cake. “Those guys loved you.”
“I think we both got a little too worried over the parents situation. Dee’s parents were great, especially considering I nearly broke his knee. I’m really excited to meet yours next weekend.”
“It’s not too long of a drive up there. I haven’t been home in a long time. I’m looking forward to it too,” he said, a big smile on his face. “I’m really glad they liked you.”
“What’s not to love?” you said, Jensen smirking around his piece of cake. “You’re so hard on yourself. I’m really happy they like me too but even if they didn’t, there’s no problem there. You’re allowed to live your life. Dee wants you to keep living it.”
“I still wonder if she was just like ‘this boy is driving me nuts again, he needs a girl,’ and somehow shoved you into my life,” he said.
“Maybe. I mean, it was good timing that I was looking for a new job the same time you were looking for a nanny.”
“Did you ever report that last guy as an inappropriate employer?” he asked.
“I tell the agency but nothing criminal no. I mostly feel sorry for the families. Nannies are stability in the kids lives and leaving them isn’t easy. Unless they’re little shitheads but even then I don’t blame them, it’s the parents that turned them into it,” you said.
“What’d you think of those three, when you met ‘em I mean,” he said.
“They’re all a little shy like you but they open up if they like you. They’re pretty damn funny. They got wit and sarcasm, even if they don’t know it yet. They’re kind and intelligent and they look to you in how to act like most kids. I knew they were good kids from the start.”
“You’re gonna be a great mom,” he said. You smiled and watched him eat a piece of cake, Jensen tilting his head. “You know they have called you mom before. All three of them. Accidentally but still.”
“Being a nanny has some of the roles of a parent but there’s still a difference,” you said.
“Yeah but you’ve never just been the nanny,” he said, scraping up some frosting with his fork. “Speaking of your sudden thrust into motherhood, the whole kids thing...how many of your own were you thinking of?”
“I don’t know. I don’t need to make a baby to love it. I was adopted and my mom loved me so much. I mean there’s already three of ‘em to chase after.”
“I’d like to have a baby with you. Someday,” he said. You dabbed your finger across some frosting on the plate and sucked on it, staring at him. “I know you do. Y/N there’s no more secrets. There’s never gonna be a secret between us ever again. Sometimes you get nervous but we have to talk about these things and everything. The big choices and the little ones we make together.”
“Honestly? I don’t want you to think I’ll love them less than a kid I make. I won’t. I will treat them all the same but I don’t know how to prove that to you.”
“You told me the day I hired you that I needed to hire someone I could trust, that trust was going to be so important. Y/N, I’ve never doubted your feelings for them. Shit, I’m pretty damn sure you were in love with them before me. And I get it because they aren’t scary. They can’t hurt you like the adults can. We wouldn’t be having this conversation if I had a shred of doubt.”
“I gotta think about kids more I guess. How many, when. I don’t know that right now.”
“We’ll figure out all that when we’re ready. Just let me know and we’ll come back to this conversation,” he said, wrapping an arm around your waist. “You know...hearing about what you did at the store...that’s kinda super attractive you know.”
“Uh what?” you said, Jensen pulling you into his lap.
“You, going protective badass...that’s very, very hot you see,” he said.
“You’re such a guy,” you said while he picked up the last piece of cake on his fork.
“Well we-” he said as you leaned forward and wrapped your lips around the dessert, pulling back with a smile. “Oh you shouldn’t have done that.”
“What are you gonna do about it?” you smirked. He narrowed his eyes and set his fork down before he was standing and flipped you over his shoulder. “Jensen! Put me down!”
“Do the crime, do the time!” he said, walking over to the stairs. “Hm...what to do with you...ah I know…”
“You know…” you said before he flipped you down onto the couch and plopped down on top of you, catching most of his weight on his hands on either side of you. “Troublemaker.”
“You love it,” he said. He leaned down and kissed you, your hands wandering to his hair, holding him close. You grinned and wrapped your legs around his waist, Jensen kissing you sloppy and cheeky and like a teenage boy making out for the first time.
“Dad,” said JJ, rushing down the stairs. He dropped this forehead to yours and sighed.
“What is it?” he asked. He sat up and you both looked at her, spotting the pale tint of her skin. “Feel okay?”
“Jensen call an ambulance, now,” you said, pushing him off and going over to her. He sat up and you kneeled down next to her, her lips slightly blue. You put a hand on her chest and felt the labored breathing. “Did you eat something new tonight? Or did a bug bite you?”
“I stepped on a prickly in the bathroom a minute ago,” she said.
“Jesus,” said Jensen as he rushed into the kitchen. “She got stung by a scorpion.”
He grabbed a bottle from the cabinet and started unscrewing it.
“Jensen go see what the scorpion is and get rid of it before the twins find it,” you said. He left the bottle with you and shoved the phone against your ear. “Hi, sorry how much of the anti-venom do I give her?”
“There should be a child dosage on the bottle, half the cap,” the person on the other end said. You unscrewed the lid and poured some out, having her swallow it down. She whined and you didn’t blame her based on the smell. “An ambulance will be there shortly.”
“Thank you,” you said, spotting Jensen at the top of the stairs. He was holding his wrist and had a slightly smushed object in one of the clear plastic cups from the kids bathroom. “We have the scorpion.”
“EMT’s should be able to identify it,” she said, Jensen walking down slowly. He took a seat on the bottom step and shook his head.
“Jensen?” you said, his hand reaching for the bottle. You moved his hand from his wrist and saw two dots there. “Shit. My fiance was stung too.”
“There’s a nest in the bathroom vanity,” he said, pouring himself a dose and knocking it back. “I blocked off the door but get the twins out of there, please.”
“JJ,” you said as you saw her color get better while Jensen was getting paler. You took your phone out of your pocket and dialed, handing it to her. “Tell Uncle Jared to come over right now.”
Five minutes later Jared was there, JJ and Jensen sat in the back of an ambulance, Jensen getting a shot of something in the leg.
“We’re taking them to West County,” said a paramedic.
“I’ll see you guys soon,” you said, JJ staring worriedly at Jensen who has holding his wrist again. Jared looked around as they took off and you sighed. “Hey.”
“JJ said she and Jay got stung by a scorpion?” he asked.
“She got one as far as they can tell. Jensen got three. There’s a nest in the bathroom cupboard,” you said.
“Idiot,” mumbled Jared. You raised and eyebrow and he shook his head. “He forgot to get the pest spray done this year I bet. Dee always handled that kind of stuff. They’ve had a scorpion problem before when they first moved in.”
“Oh.”
“I’m gonna take the twins and stay the night. I’ll call and get the spray guys in first thing in the morning. You go take care of those two,” he said. You nodded and he grabbed your arm when you headed for your car. “Wait five minutes to calm down.”
“Jared I’m fine.”
“No, you’re not. You just don’t know it. Go inside, get your purse, Jensen’s wallet, take a beat, okay?”
“Okay,” you said. “Make sure-”
“I got it. Go on,” he said. “Make sure he’s not freaking out. Last time he was at a hospital it wasn’t good.”
“Right. Okay. Call me if you need something. And stay away from the kids bathroom.”
“Y/N. I know. It’ll be alright, I promise.”
One Hour Later
“Is dad okay?” asked JJ from where she sat in your lap. Jensen peeled an eye open and smiled.
“I’m okay. Sleepy is all. We’ll be home in a few hours,” he said. His wrist was bandaged and he had an IV in his arm but he’d taken the anti-venom soon enough that they had enough time to get the proper medication in both him and JJ. She was already discharged but you didn’t want to leave Jensen by himself.
“Mr. Ackles,” said a doctor when she walked in the room. “Your bloodwork came back and everything looks good.”
“Awesome,” he said, sitting up in bed. “Can I get out of here?”
“You got about fifteen minutes left on that IV drip but I’ll let the nurse know to start the paperwork. I want you to take it easy tomorrow. Nothing strenuous.”
“I got it,” he said with a nod. “Nothing strenuous.”
“Jensen,” you said around noon the next day, catching him unloading some wood from the back of his truck. “What are you doing?”
“I was gonna work on those shelves for the kid’s playroom,” he said. You crossed your arms and he threw his head back. “I feel fine. The nest got cleared out and the house got sprayed. I wanna work on this.”
“You have all the time in the world to do it. Work on it tomorrow,” you said, picking up the wood plank. He tried to take it out of your hands and you growled.
“Sorry,” he mumbled.
“Please do what the doctor said and rest today,” you said. He bit his lip and you moved the pieces of wood into the garage, Jensen leaning back against the side of the truck when you shut the trunk. “You’re scared, aren’t you.”
He nodded and glanced at his wrapped up wrist, then down to the ground.
“Hospitals freak me out now,” he said. “I don’t like bugs. My body hurt and knowing I forgot to do something so simple put them in danger sucks. Knowing if she hadn’t come downstairs it might have been real bad sucks. If you hadn’t noticed I don’t know if I would have and it scares me not knowing.”
“Close your eyes for me,” you said. He shut them and took a deep breath, letting you take his hand and walk around to the back of the house. You spun him around a few times stopping him so he was facing the pool about twenty feet away. “Know where you are?”
“Somewhere in the middle of the backyard,” he said. “What are you doing?”
“You said not knowing scared you. Lots of times you don’t know. It’s kinda just how life works,” you said, dropping his hand and moving a few feet away. “Take a big step forward.”
“Y/N, I don’t like this,” he said, fidgeting his hand along the bottom of his shirt.
“I know you don’t. But would I hurt you?”
“No,” he said.
“So listen to me. Big step forward.” He took a step and you looked around. “Jump backwards.”
“What?”
“Jump backwards.” He frowned and took a small bunny hop back. “Again.”
“I feel ridiculous.”
“Says the guy who plays pretend for a professional career. Now hop back and then step to the right,” you said. He groaned and did as asked. “Jog forward until I say stop.”
“Are you trying to kill me out here cause I feel like I’m about to break my neck slipping in the pool.”
“I’m trying to get your anxiety out in a non-life threatening way, okay?”
“By having me jump around the backyard like an idiot.”
“By having you get comfortable with the fact that most of life is spent not knowing and you can’t change that fact. You can’t see it all coming.”
He threw his head back but kept his eyes shut. He stared to run towards you and you wrapped your arms around him when he got there, Jensen peeling them open slowly.
“See? I wasn’t gonna let anything bad happen,” you said. He nodded and rested his forehead on your shoulder, pulling you into a squeezing hug. “You okay?”
“I’m sorry for being short and not doing what the doctor asked,” he said.
“Hey, it’s alright. I got scared too last night. Everything is fixed now so no need to worry over it. Why don’t you take a nap and maybe we have a real quiet lazy day while Dee’s parents got the kids for the day,” you said. “Sound fun?”
“Okay,” he said. “I’ll take quiet today.”
Three hours later Jensen was curled up with a blanket, his head resting in your lap as you watched a movie together. You played with his hair, Jensen turning into the touch every so often.
“I know you’re worried about me,” he said. He turned and faced up at you, your fingers swirling in his strands. “I know I’m kinda clingy today which I’m normally not.”
“You can cling all you want, honey,” you said, stroking his cheek with your thumb. “I wish life would give you a break for a second. No work, no badness. Just some peace and quiet for you.”
“My parents lived here after the accident. For a few months. They were here, Jared and Gen were over every day, my siblings would stop down every week. The first few months I understood. I had an injury I had to recover from. But I felt like a child those few months once I recovered. Everyone taking care of the kids, of me. I was barely a father to them. Playtime. A story at bed. Someone else made most of their meals, did everything for them.”
“You’re a father but you’re still someone’s child,” you said. He blinked and you shrugged. “You were hurt, possibly the worst out of anyone. I know taking care of everyone else is your default but people get to take care of you too. I get to take care of you.”
“I feel like all I do is get taken care of by you,” he said. “I never give it back.”
“You’ve given me a family again. You take care of me every single day.”
“I never see you getting upset. It’s always me. I’m always the fuck up,” he said. You slumped down and took a deep breath.
“I get upset Jensen. I got upset that very first time we fought, that night with the ice cream. I got upset when you got jealous of that nanny in Canada and we saw my father the first time. I got upset telling you the truth of it all because you of all people don’t need problems like that dumped at your feet. I got upset when we saw him again because I was scared and I was scared he might hurt you too. I got upset when we fought when you got home and I got upset when you proposed because you were so scared and I get upset Jensen. I get upset when you’re hurt. I get upset when I hurt. But I don’t have all those safety nets under me that you do, remember? I just got a couple right now and you’re my last resort. I’ve been my own support system for so long that I can’t undo that all overnight. I know it’s been months but the fact I even let you see me cry, the fact I can even talk about this stuff with you and know all you’re thinking about is how to make me feel better...I still need to heal too. You’ve done so much already. I’m gonna have my moments where this is switched, believe me. But today’s not my turn for that, it’s yours.”
“I love you,” he said, staring up with the softest green eyes you’d ever seen on him yet. “Even more than five minutes ago if that’s possible.”
“I love you,” you said, bending down and kissing him. “You’re the expert on the falling in love stuff though so I’ll leave that up to you.”
“It’s very...it’s what you think it is and it’s not at all what you think. There’s falling and nerves and then calm and then falling and calm and you spend the rest of your life doing that. It’s not magic and it takes work to keep it alive sometimes but all you gotta do is talk. Just talk and it always seems to work out for me,” he said.
“Can I tell you a secret?” you asked. He nodded and smiled as you went back to playing with his hair.
“You know I really like when you do that,” he said.
“I know you do. It relaxes you,” you said.
“Makes me feel safe too,” he said. “But what’s your secret cause eventually I’m gonna want to know them all.”
“I was very attracted to you when we met. But that kinda freaked me out a bit. I found myself liking you a lot that first day I was here. You got me a birthday cake. I realized how kind you are that night. It wasn’t for anyone’s benefit other than my own. I had a crush on you, even though I knew it wouldn’t go anywhere.”
“I had a crush on you from when you made me a cup of coffee. You’re so good and kind yourself,” he said. He reached up and cupped your cheek. “I’m really happy you had your mom eventually. I would have liked to have met her.”
“Maybe she and Dee are hanging out wherever they are.”
“I hope so. She won’t mind sharing me with you,” he said.
“You honestly think so?”
“You gonna mind sharing me with her?” he asked.
“I’ve always shared you. Just hope that wouldn’t bother her.”
“I used to think maybe it would but no, she wants me to be happy and that’s you so you got all eternity to get to know each other eventually if you think about it.”
“Well when you put it that way we got nothing to worry about,” you said.
“Oh don’t worry about that. I think your mom was right. I get to have two people is all, kinda like she did,” he said.
“She would have liked you. Would have said you’re a little old for me but she would have liked you.”
“Wasn’t she older than Ray?” he asked.
“Yeah. She was. She was only fifty,” you said.
“You grew up too fast,” he said quietly.
“Maybe. But it got me here and I don’t think I would have done anything different. I wouldn’t want to screw that up. Well I’d do one thing different.”
“What?”
“Drop by this house, have a conversation with a certain someone.”
“Say hypothetically you had that ability, you’d really do that knowing what you’re giving up?”
“I’d give her back to you right this second if I could.”
“I appreciate that, really,” he said. He let his hand fall down and reach around your back, curling around your waist. “But she’s not more important than you are. I miss her. Everyday. But I lose one of you either way in that scenario. And I can’t choose. I’ll never be able to. If she were here and you weren’t, I’d still be just like this. It’d still hurt.”
“Make me a promise. I keel over early, you try again. Try for both of us.”
“I will if you will,” he said. He held up his pinky finger and you grabbed it with yours. “But he can’t be hotter than me.”
“Equally as hot?”
“Slightly less hot but that’s my final offer,” he said.
“Eh, fine,” you said. “You’ve worn me down.”
“Always words I want to hear,” he chuckled. You slid further down the couch until you were practically laying back, your arms wrapping around him. He got up and lay down with you on the wrap around side of the couch, pulling you into his chest. “Can I take you to dinner tonight? Just us.”
“Yeah. I’d like that.”
“Okay, honey,” he said, kissing your forehead. “Thank you.”
“For what?”
“Just thanks. For what you said. What you did earlier, just being with me,” he said.
“Lucky for you I like being with you a whole lot,” you said.
“Very lucky for me,” he said. “Very lucky indeed.”

A/N: Was I really going to name the epilogue any thing else?
                                                         *     *     *     *     *
Effie had been quiet lately.  When Matthew said ‘quiet’, what he really meant to say was not all there, and when he said ‘not all there’ what he really meant to say was that she was there, with him physically, but her mind was somewhere else.  She had these bouts from time to time.  Effie was always going to be a work in progress, and that meant sometimes she’d regress instead.  He knew that when he signed up to be with her ten years ago now.  He knew that when he raised the idea of buying and building a house together seven years ago, and she said no.  He knew that when he raised the idea of buying and building a house together six years ago and she said no.  He knew that when he raised the idea of buying and building a house together five years ago and she said no.  He knew that when he raised the idea of buying and building a house together four years ago and she said no.  He knew thar when he raised the idea of buying and building a house together three years ago and she said yes.  He knew that when they moved in to said house two years ago.  Some bouts were long, some were short, but he always noticed them.
This was another one.
She usually came around.  Well, actually, she almost always came around.  She’d ask something or propose an idea and Matthew would learn or realize why she was so withdrawn, why she was so quiet.  Sometimes they were simple, and a short bout: “I want to change the menu at the bakery.”  Sometimes they were vastly more complex, and a long bout: “I know Chantal’s okay with me not having kids, but what about Keith?”  She’d get stuck in her head a lot.  And with someone with so much to learn, as someone who was quite literally going through life learning by doing, it was almost a guarantee this would happen, considering what she came from.
But Matthew was there.  Always.
As he spooned her in bed, he could feel how distant she was.  He could practically feel her mind racing and refusing to slow down despite it being late at night.  Matthew placed a small kiss on her shoulder.  “D’you want to talk about it?” he offered.
Effie turned around so she was now facing him.  He could see the worried look in her eyes and started to worry himself.  She took a deep breath.  “Would you want to marry me?”
Matthew licked his lips, and without hesitation, he nodded his head.  “Yes.”
Effie looked away, almost ashamed.  “I had it in my head that you wouldn’t want to because I’ve been married before,” she whispered.
A regress.  Inevitable.  Effie’s mind was a complex ocean.  “You were never married,” he said firmly.  “But if you want to get married, I’d love to marry you.  We could do it however you wanted.”
“What about our marriage?”
“What do you mean?”
“We’d get married, but what would our marriage be like?”
Bad memories, obviously.  The last time she was a “wife” it wasn’t a marriage at all.  It was practically a hostage situation.  An abusive relationship.  “Do you like our relationship how it is now?” Matthew asked.
Effie nodded her head.  “I want it to stay like this,” she said.
“Then that’s what our marriage will be like, too,” Matthew assured her.
***
“I don’t know what type of ring I like,” Effie mumbled on the phone to Geneviève as she picked at her lunch, a poppyseed bagel she’d made with a generous spread of lox and cream cheese.  Geneviève was in Sweden, like she was every summer, with Jacob and her twins.  Though they’d be back in a few weeks for the season, Effie couldn’t hold off talking to her.  She never really could.
“Why would that matter?” Geneviève asked.
“Matthew and I talked about getting married.”
There was silence on the other end of the call before Effie heard the dial tone.  She thought the call dropped – it did that sometimes, especially when Geneviève was in Sweden – but then her phone was vibrating all over again, and it was a FaceTime request instead of a simple phone call.  Effie couldn’t help but smile as she accepted the call.
“You and Matthew WHAT?!” Geneviève shrieked, holding the phone too close to her face.
“Um…yeah,” Effie nodded.  “We talked about it a few nights ago in bed.  I asked him if he would want to marry me and he said yes.”
“Effie, Matthew’s probably wanted to marry you since he told you how to pronounce tomahawk.  What made you think he didn’t?” Geneviève asked.
Effie shrugged her shoulders.  “I don’t know…” she said.  “I just—last time I was married, it wasn’t a good marriage.”
“You were never married,” Geneviève deadpanned.  It was good to know she thought the same thing as Matthew.  “But besides that—has Matthew been anything like him in these past ten years?”
Effie shook her head.  “No way.”
“Then what makes you think he will when you’re married?”
Effie knew Geneviève was trying to make a point – and a good one – but Effie was, for some reason, still apprehensive.  “He comes home soon,” she said.  “I’m going to talk to him more about it.”
Geneviève nodded in understanding.  “Just remember that you deserve happiness, however that comes to you,” she reminded Effie.  “And remember, Effie – you can choose happiness, too. You can choose to overcome a fear and make yourself happy.”
***
Effie searched all about engagement rings until she heard the garage door open and Matthew step into the house.  He’d been at the gym, and his own lox and cream cheese bagel was waiting for him in the fridge.  “Hey,” he called out from the laundry room.
“Hi.”
“Whatcha up to?”
“Uh, looking at engagement rings.”
He was silent.  Silent until he rounded the corner and Effie saw him emerge from the hallway that led to the laundry room, his gym bag slung over his shoulder.  “Engagement rings, huh?”
“Mhm,” she nodded, adjusting herself in the bar stool.  “There’s so many different styles.”
Matthew looked at her skeptically, dropping his gym bag before walking over to her.  “There are…” he began.  “But you should look at a style or styles you like, and then we can bring it to a jeweler.”
“A jeweler?”
“I’m not gonna get you just any ring, baby.  It’s gonna be custom made,” he said like it was the most obvious thing in the world.
Effie’s research told her that custom made rings were the most expensive types of rings.  While there were so many pretty styles online, custom was definitely something to aspire to for many people, even thought it was out of reach.  “You’d get me a custom ring?”
Matthew looked at her.  Without saying a word, he leaned back into the barstool beside her but grabbed hers and scooted it closer to him.  “Will you please talk to me?” he asked softly, but needily.  “You know I’d get you a custom ring.  You know I’m gonna let you get any dress you want and have whatever kind of wedding you want.  You brought up marriage but the questions you’ve been asking me…Effie, it’s as if you think I don’t love you.”
“That’s not—no,” she shook her head, stuttering out her words.  “I’m sorry, Matthew.  I don’t mean it to be like that.  I know you love me.”
“Then what’s with the questions?”
Effie took a deep breath, avoiding eye contact with Matthew until she knew she had to talk.  “This is what it was like last time.”
Matthew’s heart dropped into the pit of his stomach.  “What do you mean?”
“Abraham was nice before he abused me.  He promised me so many things.  And I know you’re not him—you’re nothing like him—and I’ve—I’ve told you that for ten years but—”
“—Effie, if this is too much for you, we don’t have to get married.”
Effie began shaking her head.  And when she began shaking her head, tears started to well up in her eyes, and as they welled up, they fell down her cheeks.  She tried wiping them away but Matthew beat her to it; she was so ashamed she couldn’t even look at him.  “But everybody gets married.  Look at Brady.  And Taryn, even.”
“Effie…we’re already in a committed relationship that’s like a marriage anyway.  I’m devoted to you, and you’re devoted to me…we—we live together, we act like we’re married anyway.  If you don’t want to change that then you don’t have to.”
“Yes I do,” she stressed.
“Why?”
“I do because I want to do something for you.  You’ve been doing things for me for ten years and I know you want this.  I know you want to get married.  So I want to give that to you because you’ve given me so much.”
“You giving me yourself is enough.  You know that.  You’re enough,” he said.
“I know,” she nodded.  “But marriage is a celebration of love.  It’s a celebration of love.  And I want to celebrate our love.  I just have to get it through my thick skull that marriage isn’t a punishment, it’s a celebration.”
Matthew nodded his head, giving her a quick kiss on the nose.  “Want me to call Dr. Barlow?  We can work on this together.”
Effie nodded.

Half a year later, Effie couldn’t stop staring at the rock on her finger.  It glimmered in even the shittiest light.  She was sure Matthew had something put in it to make it shine so much, but he kept denying it.  Geneviève loved it.  So did Jenna.  So did Annica.
“But do you?” Matthew asked her.
She nodded.  The second he slipped it on to her finger, everything became real.  Everything.  She’d never had an engagement ring before.  She never had a testament to her partner’s love for her.  And here it was now, on her finger, ready for her to wear for the rest of her life.  Matthew gave it to her.  Her Matthew.  Nobody else but her Matthew.
***
“Oooooooh, Effie,” Chantal’s eyes lit up as Effie walked out of the fitting room of the small bridal boutique in St. Louis they went to on a whim.  Taryn’s jaw dropped in quick succession as Effie walked out and stood on the platform in front of them, a three-panel mirror showing her every angle of the dress.  She watched Chantal through the mirror.  “Oh Effie, this is stunning.”
“Do you think Matthew will like it?” she asked.
“Matthew’s gonna bawl,” Taryn interjected, causing everyone to laugh.  “I’m about to bawl!”
Effie looked at herself in the mirror, patting down the fronts of the dress, even though it fit her like a glove.  Despite trying on some dresses already while out with Jenna and Geneviève, she didn’t get the same butterflies in her stomach as she did seeing herself in this dress, now, even though this wasn’t planned.  It was the first one Effie chose for their consultant to pull but the last one of the three she tried on, and it was the most beautiful.  She loved everything about it: the eyelet organza, the corset bodice with exposed boning, the A-line skirt with pockets.
The ivory.
The consultant puffed out the skirt for her, letting it fall behind her dramatically.  Effie was quiet as she watched Taryn eye the consultant and say “We need a veil” before the consultant left them alone.  Chantal was covering her mouth at the point, admiring the dress but also as a mechanism to stop herself from crying, probably.  Effie pat down the front of the dress again, her heart beating in her chest.  “Chantal?” her voice was small.
“Yes sweetie?”
“I can wear white, right?”
Chantal nodded automatically.  So did Taryn.  “Of course you can.  You were never married,” Chantal said.
“Even if you had been,” Taryn piped in, “it’s your wedding.  You can wear whatever you want.”
***
Matthew held Effie’s hand as they sat on a couch in Dr. Barlow’s office together, talking through Effie’s trepidations of marriage and expectations as a wife.  Effie knew that the only reason why she was having trouble with all of this was because of her past experiences; when she thought about it, deep down, she wanted nothing more than to marry Matthew.  But her mind was a funny thing – it always was – and that’s why they were here.  Matthew had been patient in waiting for her to agree to buy a house and move in together; he’d been even more patient in not asking her to get married but letting her make the decision herself.  Now it just all came down to this – the working through the nitty gritty things, the things that still plagued her mind – so she could go into the marriage in the healthiest way possible, just like their relationship was.  And she was going to see it that way.  It helped her immensely to see it that way.  This is just an extension of our relationship.  This is a celebration of our love.
“Have you given thought to any popular wedding or marriage traditions that the two of you would want to follow or not follow?” Dr. Barlow asked.
“Like what?” Matthew asked.
“Effie, will you be taking Matthew’s last name?”
Effie looked at Matthew before squeezing his hand quickly and nodding.  “Yes,” she said confidently.  “I’ll become Effie Tkachuk.  I met this woman through hockey – her husband plays for the Toronto Maple Leafs – her name is Bee Rielly.  She took her husband’s last name and she said the reason why she took it was because she had no connection to her maiden name, McTavish, because she had no real family and her mom was an alcoholic and it only really reminded her of that.  Considering her background, she wanted it gone, and I feel the same way.”
Matthew squeezed her hand back.  Dr. Barlow smiled and nodded her head.  “It’s great that you’ve met someone like that, that can help you see these kinds of things in that perspective,” she said.  “Are you having a church wedding?”
“No,” Matthew took this one.  Even though he and his siblings went to Catholic schools, religion wasn’t a huge part of their lives.  “Just an officiant.  We actually already have her booked.”
Dr. Barlow nodded again.  “Effie, how do you feel about the tradition of someone walking you down the aisle?  Levi?  Matthew’s dad, perhaps?”
Effie shook her head vehemently.  “I love them, but no,” she said.  “No way.  I’m entering into a marriage freely and I’m making the decision.  Nobody is giving me away.”
Matthew smiled.  “And that’s that on that.”
***
The more that Effie planned, the more she got to experience what normal wedding planning was like.  It was stressful, sure, but it wasn’t your-mom-telling-you-that-you-were-going-to-marry-a-55-year-old-when-you-were-fourteen-years-old type of stressful.  It wasn’t an I-don’t-know-anything-about-being-a-wife-I’m-only-fourteen-years-old type of fearful.  It actually wasn’t fearful at all.  The more decisions she made about how she was going to marry Matthew, the more excited she became.  Decisions about flowers, about table coverings, about décor, about music, about food.  Her favourite was taste-testing cakes samples with Matthew.  Every time they tasted something Matthew would always say, “It’s not as good as your cakes” to her.
Every.  Single.  Time.
***
Between family, friends, and teammates, there were about 130 people at the wedding.  Effie wore her dress, tailored to perfection, and the veil – long and regal and cathedral length, because the only day it was socially acceptable to wear a veil that long was on your wedding day, and Effie was going to take full advantage of it.  They did a first look and Matthew cried.  He cried again when she walked down the aisle by herself.
When Effie stood holding hands with Matthew, reciting vows to each other, she thought about the past ten years.  She thought about the person she was when she met him at Noah’s birthday party.  She thought about their Starbucks meetings and him teaching her about corn dogs and candy and frappucinos.  She thought about how different she was from then till now, and that though the past still affected her, and crept up on her from time to time, she had been strong back then, and was even stronger now, and that made her proud of herself in a way nobody else could understand.  Not even Matthew.  That she stood here with him, marrying him, making the choice to marry him, spoke volumes of her progression.  It spoke volumes of the person she had been, the person she was now, and the person she was becoming.  She was always a work in progress.
Matthew was there for it all.  There to help her, there to guide her through it.  There to help her achieve her dreams and expose to things she never thought possible.  Lake Louise.  Moraine Lake.  The Bahamas.  Europe.  St. Louis.  Confidence.  Trust.  Love.
“I love you,” he whispered to her when their vows were done, rubbing his thumb over the backs of her hands.
“I love you too,” she whispered back.  Freely.  Meaningfully.  Deeply.
“I now pronounce you husband and wife!” the officiant beamed.
For the first time in her life, Effie was married.

6. Draco Malfoy - Rainy Nights, Warm Drinks
*Warning - smut*
“I want you.”
“Keep your eyes open, look at me, baby.”
Draco’s p.o.v
Loud chatter filled the jam-packed dining hall as students discussed their Christmas plans while their grubby hands reached for the feast laid out before each house. My gray-blue eyes stared blankly at the turkey and sides that touched my plate, my fork picking at whatever it could reach without me moving too much. I was counting down the moments that led up to Dumbledore clinking his fork against his glass that would dismiss everyone from Hogwarts, sending them home. Each single tick drove me crazy as I shook my leg, desperately pleading for time to move faster. At the end of this feast, everyone would be on the train heading to their families, while I would finally get to see the one person that I couldn’t get off my mind. Even now, the only thing I could think about was seeing her beautiful face and hearing her soothing, angelic voice, tuning out the voices of my friends.
  “Draco? Earth to Draco!”
Pansy’s voice sliced right through my current thoughts involving my plans after school. Blinking a few times, I turned my head to see Pansy, Blaise, Crabbe, Goyle, Pike, and Nott staring at me. While Pansy stared at me with concern, the guys stared at me skeptically.
  “What?” I muttered, dully.
“Pansy asked you what you were doing during the break,” Blaise informed, taking a sip from his cup.
“Yeah,” Pansy agreed, “I was thinking you and I could go on a date since we won’t be in school.”
A date? I had broken up with Pansy a year ago with the excuse that dating her had become boring, which it had, however, the real reason I left Pansy was because I had fallen in love with another girl. The whole thing had torn me up since day one because I hadn’t believed that I, the Slytherin Prince, could have fallen for a muggle, and yet I did. After a whole week of thinking about it and running everything carefully through my mind, I finally decided that I didn’t love Pansy and needed to end it with her before things got too serious.
“I won’t be returning home this Christmas,” I stated, “Dumbledore has asked me to stay and help tutor some second years in potions.”
“That’s ridiculous!” Pansy sneered, “it isn’t your job to teach those brats.”
“You’re dad’s okay with that?” Nott asked, a smirk playing on his lips.
“He wasn’t at first but once Dumbledore told him that I was the highest ranking student when it came to potions, he settled down and decided that I’d make a great leader for those snot nose brats,” I spoke, pride dripping from my lying tongue.
Of course, staying at Hogwarts wasn’t a complete lie, it was just not the full truth. For the first four days of break, I’d be staying with Maggie and her Grandmother then I’d come back to Hogwarts to help out with tutoring, and it’ll keep going like that until school starts again. It was an agreement that I had worked out with Dumbledore after he found out about Maggie, which if I’m being honest, I’m not even sure how he found out.
“And you’re okay with it?” Blaise asked, amused.
“Doesn’t matter to me,” I muttered.
I looked back down at my plate, feeling their eyes still watching me but not paying attention to it. Eventually, Dumbledore stood up from his seat and clinked his silverware against his wine glass. The chatter stopped immediately as everyone turned their impatient attention to the headmaster. Excitement was bursting through my chest, something I never thought I’d ever feel for a girl like Maggie. Dumbledore started by wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and happy holiday, then proceeded in telling everyone what to expect when they got back from break. We were expected to practice and prepare for our O.W.Ls that were coming up, which Umbridge decided to announce after interrupting Dumbledore. I may have pretended to like Umbridge and do as she said to appease my friends, but in all honesty, I hated her more than I hated anyone else.
After all of Dumbledore and Umbridge’s talking, the feast disappeared from our tables and it was time for everyone to head to the train. I saw my friends on the train. Pansy turned around.
“Well maybe I can stay here with you, so you aren’t alone,” she offered.
Annoyance broke out across my face, “I’ll be fine, Pansy. I’m not interested in spending time with you anyway, so you’ll just be alone.”
She started pouting while the other snickered behind her back. Scoffing, she stormed past everyone onto the train. I waved goodbye to the others and they followed after Pansy to the cart. Those leaving for the Christmas holiday were finally headed towards the platform and those who would be staying at Hogwarts for the vacation headed back towards the school.
As I was approaching the entrance, I saw Dumbledore standing there waiting for me, a smile on his face.
“Good evening, Mr. Malfoy,” he stated, “have you gotten your belongings together?”
“My bag is sitting in my room,” I replied.
“Once you collect it, go to Hagrid’s. He’ll be waiting for you there to help you get to the muggle world. Have a safe trip.”
With that, Dumbledore walked away allowing me to go fetch my belongings.
I grabbed my trunk out of my dorm room and carried it all the way towards Hagrid’s small hut just a little ways from the school. Hagrid was outside playing fetch with his large hound as I finished walking towards him. Immediately, he looked up after tossing the rather large stick across the field.
“Malfoy,” Hagrid said, “what brings you here?”
I raised an eyebrow. He was kidding, right?
The big oaf laughed heartily and patted my shoulder with his gorilla sized hand.
“I’m messing, is all,” he bellowed, “let’s get a move on it before anyone notices.”
Hagrid opened the door to his home and gestured me inside. Sitting on the table when he opened the door was a thick, black bag filled with dark, gray powder. Hagrid scooted around me and picked up the black bag before meeting my gaze. This was awkward for me, and I knew he could tell but fortunately he didn’t say anything to make it worse. Instead, he told me that the floo network would take us to Diagon Alley and we’d have to walk through another entrance into the muggle world. From there we’d take a wizard bus, which I found odd, straight to Maggie’s farmhouse just on the outskirts of London. However, I grew bored with being explained the plan and just wanted to get there already.
I went through the floo network first and waited for Hagrid patiently for a moment. Once he was standing by my side, he took my luggage and walked with me through Diagon Alley. We both walked through the less populated parts of Diagon Alley until the two of us reached a dead end. Hagrid tapped his umbrella against the wall in a pattern and they started pulling apart revealing the empty alley of the muggle world. The smell was different from the one back in the wizarding world. I could definitely smell freshly mown grass, but there was an oil smell mixed in too. As Hagrid and I walked past all of the people and shops that adorn the streets, I could smell pastries, coffees, and other foods that I recognized. I could feel the inside of my mouth water.
We waited on the sidewalk near a coffee shop for what seemed like forever before a bus came to a sudden stop in front of us. No one seemed to notice its incredible speed.
“Why hello there, Hagrid,” said a frail, stubbled face man wearing a purple suit.
“Hello to you too, Stan Shunpike,” Hagrid laughed, “starting work a bit early, aren’t you?”
Shunpike gave a crooked smile and nodded his head before gesturing us on. I went to grab my trunk when Shunpike grabbed it instead, pushing me inside. The smell was something to gag at. It smelled worse than anything I could imagine. Hagrid took a seat.
“Aren’t you going to have a seat, Malfoy?” He questioned.
“No, I’d rather stand,” I muttered, disgust lacing my voice.
  “Where to?” Shunpike asked.
Hagrid gave the address and Shunpike looked at us confused.
  “That’s a muggle household.”
“Not completely,” Hagrid said, “Loral Belle is the homeowner, Dumbledore’s friend.”
A slow nod bounced off his thin shoulders and sat down.
“Ernie, you know where to go.”
As soon as the knight bus took off, the speed pushed me back. Not even my grip was strong enough to keep me in place and I ended stumbling backwards until Hagrid’s large hand grabbed ahold of me. I pretty much clung to Hagrid’s large arm as we whirlwind through the busy streets of London. Two trucks stood in the way of the bus and I thought we’d slow down. However, we didn’t. Instead, the bus warfed itself so that it was thinner and we slid right through the small crack separating the two muggle vehicles. It wasn’t long before we reached the dirt road that led to Maggie’s farmhouse. Hagrid paid Shunpike and told him that there was extra in it for him if he waited for him and kept this visit a secret. Shunpike agreed with a large smile on his face.
Hagrid grabbed my trunk and led the way to Maggie’s. He tried to make small talk with me as we hiked down the dirt road, but neither one of us knew what to say to each other.
“How did you meet her?” He finally asked, catching my attention.
“My father had some work to do with an old, retired friend,” I said, all of the memories flooding back to my mind, “I saw her sitting by the fountain reading a book when a group of guys started harassing her. I watched her try to get away from them, failing miserably, so I stepped in despite her being a muggle. A gentleman never lets a woman get pushed around. She already knew I was a wizard when I helped her, she said that her Grandmother had taught her to tell the difference from a young age. The more I talked to her, the more I liked being around her.”
A goofy smile appeared on his face, “she sounds like an amazing young woman.”
  “She is.”
Sitting on the porch when we got there was Grandma Loral rocking back and forth while a red scarf was being knitted next to her in the air. When she saw us, a smile appeared on her face and she climbed to her feet, approaching us at the edge of her porch.
“Hagrid,” she greeted, “it’s been years.”
“Nice to see you too, Loral,” Hagrid said, “I wish I could stay long, but I’m only here to drop off Mr. Malfoy. I’ll see you in four day.”
I looked up at Hagrid, “thank you, Hagrid.”
If I didn’t know any better, which I didn’t, I could have sworn I saw tears in Hagrid’s eyes. He tried to push it away and claimed that dirt had gotten in his eye, but I knew the truth. No one was use to me being so nice, and seeing me do so meant to them that I was finally deciding things on my own and not because my father wanted them. Just like my decision to continue seeing a muggle. Grandma Loral and I waved goodbye to Hagrid, once he was gone, Grandma Loral sat back in her seat.
“Maggie’s in the garden out back,” she said smiling, “thank you for coming, Draco. I know that the decision couldn’t have been easy.”
“Actually,” I admitted, rubbing the back of my neck, “it was the easiest choice I’ve ever had to make in my life.”
Grandma Loral told me to head back there and she’d take care of my trunk. Nodding, I walked down the steps and headed down the cobblestone path to find Maggie sitting underneath a tree reading a book. Dozens of flowers of all shapes and colors surrounded her and blew in the breeze. Her brown, curled locks of hair brushed delicately against her freckled face. She was as beautiful as the day I first saw her. I walked over to her and smiled at how deeply invested she was in her novel.
“Mind if I sit?” I asked.
Her body jerked and her head whipped around to see me standing there with a smirk on my face. A large grin stretched against her face from ear to ear before nodding eagerly. As soon as my body was positioned next to her, she threw her arms around me and squeezed tightly.
“I’m so happy to see you,” she said, releasing me from her tight grip.
“I’m happy to see you too, Maggie,” I said, “how have you been?”
“I’ve been fine. Things have been a little difficult lately.”
When I asked her why, a sad expression came to her face. I thought maybe she was being bullied more, but as she explained, I realized that it wasn’t that. Grandma Loral was getting sick and it was getting worse and worse. Maggie was worried that she’d lose her grandmother and have no one once she’s gone. I touched her hand and told her it was going to be okay. She looked up at me.
“How have you been?” She asked, her smile trying to distract me from her growing tears.
I told her about Umbridge and my family, she never looked away from me and held on to my hand the way I held on to her’s when she told me about her Grandma. It seemed we were both going through some stuff right now and all we wanted was for someone to talk and relate to.
The remainder of the day moved quicker than I had hoped. Maggie was now in the kitchen cooking up some soup for dinner while I set up the dining table. From the kitchen, the two of us could hear Grandma Loral coughing up a storm. Maggie grabbed a glass, filled it with water, and brought it to her grandma before returning to finish dinner.
After supper, Maggie helped her grandma to bed before joining me in the living room with two glasses of hoto cocoa. Rain started to drum against the roof of the farmhouse, lightning slashing against the darkened sky and thunder rolling across the heavy clouds. With each passing second, the rain got harder and louder. I sipped on my warm beverage and looked at Maggie. She had whipped cream sitting above her lip and I laughed causing her to look at me.
“What?” She asked, an innocent smile dancing on her face.
“You’ve got some whipped cream on your lip,” I chuckled, leaning forward and wiping it away with my thumb.
A small red tint appeared on her face as she tried to avoid eye contact with me. I could tell she was embarrassed and I found it to be more attractive than ever. I scooted closer to her and she looked at me.
“Draco, is everything okay?” She asked.
“I love you,” I blurted out.
Her bright green orbs widened in shock and I started to regret saying anything to her. I looked away from her, but she grabbed my shoulder, pulling it to face her.
“I love you too,” she hummed.
Before I could stop myself, I smashed our lips together, saying a silent prayer that neither of us were holding that hot beverage. The kiss deepened and I pulled her into my lap, gripping her waist tightly to keep her in place. When we pulled away, she was panting from the lack of air, her lips red and slightly swollen from the heated kiss. I leaned down and started nibbling on her neck, earning a small whimper from her.
  “D-Draco,” she gasped.
I unattached my lips from her warm flesh and peppered her jaw with kisses before reaching her ear.
  “I want you, Maggie.”
Her body shivered at my words and I smirked. Maggie was gripping onto my blazer tightly.
  “But I-”
“Shh,” I cooed, “I’ll be gentle.”
I waited for her to give me the signal to continue. When her head nodded, I laid her down on the cushioned couch and began kissing her again. I traced my tongue against her bottom lip and tasted the cherry lip gloss she had coated her plump lips with after dinner. My fingers squeezed her thigh and she gasped, giving me full entrance to the inside of her mouth. I slipped my tongue into her warm, wet mouth and our tongues fought over dominance, however, Maggie’s submissive side kicked in and she let me take control easily. Quiet moans spilled from her muffled mouth. When I pulled away from her, a small string of saliva pulled from both of our lips. A rosy tint illuminated off her face and her green eyes were hazy, her floral shirt was pulled up, revealing her black, laced bra.
“Fuck,” I hissed, my pants growing tighter at the sight of her coming undone from my touch.
Pulling myself up, I removed my blazer and tie before unbuttoning my white, dress-up shirt. Her glistening eyes watched my every move, widening at the sight of my bare chest. She started nibbling on her bottom lip as I pulled at the hem of her shirt.
“Let's get this off,” I muttered, my voice husky and dripping with arousal.
Maggie didn’t argue, she just pulled her shirt above her head revealing more of herself to me. I groaned as I leaned down and started sucking on her exposed skin, leaving wet kisses against her porcelain skin. Her heartbeat was pounding against her chest, her skin was heating up, and her fingers gripped the couch cushion. I reached behind her and unclipped her bra clasp. Immediately, her hands moved to cover herself up. I lifted her chin.
“Don’t hide yourself, baby girl,” I whispered, “let me see you, please.”
  “Okay,” she whispered.
She allowed me to remove her bra from her small body and I tossed it to the side with the rest of our clothes that littered the living room floor. I pressed my lips against hers once again, my left hand gripped her left breast and I almost melted at the feeling of her perfectly soft, fleshy breast. Her pink, peachy nipples hardened from both the cold air and my calloused hands pinching at them. Her moans were becoming louder, but not too loud since her grandmother was sleeping.
“Draco, please,” she moaned, her hips moving against my own.
“What is it?” I moaned back, “what do you need, baby girl? Tell me.”
   “I-I need you. Please.”
Those words turned me on even more. I unbuttoned her shorts and pulled them off, her black matching panties hugged her hips. I hooked my fingers to her lacy panties, pulling them down and revealing her perfect pink cunt. My pants were becoming more and more uncomfortable by the second, so I quickly removed them from my body, discarding them to the floor with the rest of the pile. I started kissing her breast, sucking on her nipples, and tracing open mouth kisses against her body until I reached her lower area. The sweet aroma coming from her was intoxicating and I felt drunk from the scent alone.
I traced my tongue against her already soaking slit causing her to shiver and moan. My tastebuds were coated with her delicious nectar and I couldn’t help but dive in quickly. Her small fingers tangled themselves into my gelled hair, messing up every strand. A list of moans echoed off the walls as I flicked my tongue hungrily over her clit. Maggie tried to close her legs, but I pinned them back down. My gray-blue eyes flickered up, meeting her lustful orbs. She was covering her mouth because she was becoming too loud. Careful not to hurt her, I slipped a single finger between her folds and she flinched. I stopped.
“I’m sorry,” I whispered, “do you want me to stop?”
  “N-no, it’s okay,” she panted, “i-it’s all just a n-new experience.”
Nodding, I went back to lapping up her flowing juices and started entering my finger again. This time it slipped in with ease. A few seconds passed and I added another finger, moving them slowly in and out of her.
 “D-Draco, faster.”
I didn’t waste time and started moving my fingers faster and faster into her sex. Her back arched off the couch, I could feel her clenching around my fingers and I could tell she was getting closer and closer to her release. I started sucking on her swollen clit and she yelped out before cumming all over my fingers. I removed them from her then placed them in my mouth, sucking every last drop off of them. Groaning against my fingers, I pulled them out with a pop.
“Delicious,” I hummed, watching her chest move rapidly as she caught her breath, “have a taste.”
I captured her lips with mine and rummaged my tongue around her warm mouth. Her eyes rolled to the back of her head making me smile at how undone she looked for me. I pulled away.
“Doesn’t that taste amazing, sweetheart?” I whispered in her ear.
All she could do was nod her head. Sweat was beaded against her forehead and her hair was starting to cling to her face, it was the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen.
“Ready?” I asked, “and use your words for me.”
“I-I am,” she muttered, “I-I’m ready.”
Climbing on top of her, I aligned my hardened member with her entrance before pushing it, peppering kisses against her face as she cried out in pain. Once I was finally nestled inside of her aching cunt, I stayed there to let her adjust to my size. A minute passed by when she gave me the okay to move, then I started moving my hips at a slow pace. Every time I pulled out and pushed back in, I felt myself get squeezed around.
“God damnit!” I groaned quietly, “so fucking tight. It feels amazing, Maggie.”
  “D-Draco, you’re s-so…” she couldn’t even finish her sentence.
I started moving faster and harder with each stroke and both of our moans filled the room along with the sound of our sweaty skin slapping against each other. Despite the noise coming from us, we remained quiet enough so we didn’t wake up Grandma Loral.
Maggie squeezed her eyes shut as I started snapping my hips harder to meet hers. I grabbed her chin with my right hand and pulled her head to meet mine, my lips feathering over her. Her warm breath fanning over my chapped, slightly parted lips.
“Keep your eyes open. Look at me, baby,” I said strictly.
Maggie’s eyes opened and our eyes stared at one another as I drilled into her repeatedly. Her nails raked into my back causing me to growl at the stinging pain. I lifted one of her legs over my shoulder for a better position, my cock now going deeper into her sweet sex.
“Fuck, fuck, fuck, I moaned, resting my forehead against her, never tearing my eyes away from hers.
  “Oh my God,” she said.
“Feel good, huh sweetheart,” I praised, “you love being fucked like this.”
I didn’t want to take it too far, afraid that me being rough or even degrading her would cause her to push me away. She was sensitive. But Maggie seemed to love my words and nodded her head furiously as she started meeting my thrust.
  “Yeah you do, fucking slut.”
Her moans were like music to my ears and I could feel her tightening around my throbbing cock. I wrapped my hand around her throat, not too tightly, her free hand gripping my arm as I practically slammed into her with inhuman speed. I didn’t know what came over me, but everything felt intoxicating and I felt energy rushing through me.
“I-I’m going to cum,” she whimpered.
“Then do it,” I growled against her lips, “cum.”
Her body started shaking as pure pleasure rushed over her small form. I watched her emerald eyes roll to the back of her head as I continued to slam into her, riding out her high. Our moans got louder, and we didn’t care that we were being loud. If we got caught, we got caught. All that mattered to me was watching her, being with her, loving her.
My thrust started getting sloppy as I felt myself coming to my end. I removed my hand from her throat, letting her lungs collect the well needed air, and buried my head into her sweaty neck. With a few final, strong thrust, I came inside her dripping cunt and moaned in her ear, or more like growled with pleasure. Her body shivered at the sound as she knotted her fingers in my hair. My body collapsed onto her, our chest heaving up and down as we tried to settle down. Once our breathing returned to normal, I pulled myself out of Maggie and laid next to her. I looked at her.
“Sorry,” I whispered, as I tiredly chuckled, “I didn’t mean to finish inside you.”
She giggled and shook her head, “it’s okay. I’m on birth control, so it’ll be fine.”
I smiled at her and leaned down to pick up my dress-up shirt. It was cool to the touch and as I cleaned up the mess on Maggie, she closed her eyes enjoying the welcoming, cold cloth. After I cleaned the both of us up with my shirt, I laid back down. Lightning flashed against the sky once again as a loud rumble of thunder hit the clouds. Maggie sat up and cracked the window open, the cool breeze washing over our sweaty bodies. I pulled her into my arms and nuzzled against her.
“I love you, Maggie,” I whispered.
“I love you too, Draco,” she said, “now and forever.”
Forever, huh?
A smile appeared on my face as I closed my eyes and drifted to sleep next to the one girl I would sacrifice everything for. All of the thoughts that once invaded my mind, the unsureness of being with a muggle, how my father would act once he found out, all of it, disappeared. The only thought left was how I would protect her from Voldemort, and if she would still be by my side when she found out I was destined to be a death eater. But all of that could wait. I wanted nothing more than to enjoy the next four days with her.
I’ve never felt so relaxed before.
Forever sounds nice.

You Live In Sweatpants And Hoodies (GeorgeNotFound)
MASTERLIST
pairing : georgenotfound / george x influencer!reader.
summary : george and your fans realize that under all the sweaters, you have a body.
a/n : if you are wondering what dress i was talking about, search up jennie short black dress :)
before social media, you studied law and got a degree in it but ended up not using it due to your social media career sky rocketing.
but you never thought studying was a waste, that could be your backup, after all. social media doesn’t last forever. and you were ready to accept any difficulties since you knew you had plan b.
you, till this day, could not describe what you do on social media. it started with tiktok. everything nowadays started with tiktok. but you were one of the first people who was on it.
and then tiktokers would make their way onto youtube to sustain their “career” and grow. so that’s what you did. you never abandoned that app, though. especially not now, everyone on that app is seriously hilarious.
your content on youtube was all over the place. once, for a video, you talked to weird men on omegle and tinder. another time, you would try different aesthetics on yourself.
but here’s the catch, you’ve never really worn revealing clothes. your mum had always told you to never deprive yourself from what she says “fun young girl things” which is dressing up, or down, in her say and go have fun with your friends.
but since the pandemic hit, you have had no where to go anyways, and you never really liked to show off your body. it’s not that you felt uncomfortable doing it, it’s just that you’ve never had the reason to.
you also didn’t grow up girly. you hated dresses, especially short and tight dresses. and you weren’t a fan of wearing shorts either. you always opted to go comfy.
whenever you post a tiktok, you always wore your signature hoodie and sweatpants that were clearly sizes too big for you. but you liked it, it’s comfortable to sleep in.
and whenever you had to pan down to show your outfits on youtube, you were always caught wearing jeans and a baggy shirt, just styled differently, according to the aesthetic of the video you were filming for.
you heard your phone ring from the couch. you picked it up, knowing who it was anyways. “morning, cutie.” you stared.
“morning b.” george greets you, hair everywhere, clearly just woken up.
you and george met on tiktok, just like all good friends do. he had duetted a tiktok of yours and you found him hilarious. you quickly followed him on every single social media platform he was in. you even set an alarm in case he ever streams and you’re asleep.
you two are close. some would say you two are dating, but you two haven’t figured it out yet. you two didn’t really want to disclose it anyways, you two knew your not so secret feelings for each other, anyways.
remember when he called you ‘b’? yeah that stands for ‘bub’. he thought it would be cute for him to have a different nickname than the usual “baby” or “babe”.
you two actually live very near each other, making it way easier as a couple, but since england was put into a quarantine order, you two didn’t meet often.
some would probably ask why you’d have to set an alarm when he streams when you two clearly are in the same timezone? well, that boy had no sense of time and a terrible sleeping schedule. it amazed you at how early he got up today.
that facetime call lasted about half an hour before you told him you needed to stream on twitch today, to which he responded to you that he’s watch it later.
today, you had a surprise. for the world. you can’t believe you even thought about this but it was about time you showed off to the world what assets you’ve been blessed with.
speaking of showing off. no, you weren’t a particularly insecure person, you were just comfortable in the clothes you’re in. but celebrating the long time you’ve been on social media, and it being your birthday, you thought it might be fitting.
george and you agreed to not make anything special about your birthday. you hated parties and large gatherings, and since you were still in the middle of a pandemic, you used that as an excuse to not go out.
you spent the longest time searching for a good enough outfit for this day. and you found it. you decided to pick a pretty simple dress, a black short dress that went to your mid thigh, that showed off your waist, spaghetti strapped and a little backless.
you walked out the shower, your robe on as you walked to your bathroom counters to dry your hair. you didn’t really bother to style it, just leaving you straight long hair down.
you put on the most basic white sneakers you could find to still make it casual, and you thought it went well together, anyways.
you finished you makeup and took a good look at yourself. you had been aware that you only wore baggy clothes, so this was a huge change. you twirled yourself, feeling confident.
you couldn’t wait for people to have heart attacks.
you sat on your gaming chair, getting ready to start your stream.
before you started your stream, you made sure you left your facecam turned off first.
you went live. chat was confused since this was the first time that you’re not on facecam. all they could see at the moment was the caption “IT’S MY BIRTHDAY!” that you typed on your notes app on your computer.
“hi, chat.” you said, to calm them down a little.
you heard your phone go off, a text notification. which you knew was george since he had a special notification ping on your phone.
it said “did you forget to turn on your cam?”
you laughed at that. “no, chat, i haven’t forgotten to turn on my facecam, just wait for a sec, please.”
you felt giddy, excited for the reactions.
instead of wearing your cute cat headphones, you wore your airpods instead to get the whole look going.
you let out a sigh before moving your mouse cursor to linger on the ‘start recording camera’ button. you clicked on it, before moving your chair back to fully say hi to your chat.
you brought your hands up to wave to the camera. you tilted your head slightly. “soooo, it’s my birthday.” you said.
chat was going crazy so you stopped reading them so you wouldn’t get a headache. the donations went crazy too, but you tried your best to read them all.
you thanked the people who subscribed to you or gifted you subs.
“360 of this dress? sure, i’ll give you a twirl.” you replied a dono.
you stood up, and rolled your gaming chair away so that they can see your whole outfit. you spun around once, quickly telling them where you got the dress from.
you tried to hold your foot on one hand, balancing yourself to show them that you could go casual in this dress too.
what you noticed was that, your phone hadn’t stopped beeping from a text notification, which belonged to the one and only georgenotfound.
and since maybe he noticed that you won’t check your phone, he sent a donation instead.
“WHAT THE FUCK.” the monotoned voice read out the donation, which was from george.
you facepalmed, knowing exactly what his reaction is like at home.
“I’M COMING OVER.” the voice said again. you laughed at his antics.
“see you then.” you replied, laughing, knowing he was joking around anyways.

GEORGE’S POV
she thinks i’m joking, isn’t she?
well, she gave me her spare key for a reason, and this would be the best reason.
i knew i wanted to come around anyways. just after her stream. i promised her no going out, but not no gifts and ordering in.
sneaky, i know.
i had a plan brewing in my mind. to walk in her house as quietly as possible, to surprise her.
after seeing her in that dress, i don’t think i can stand our fans not knowing we aren’t dating.
i know, i haven’t really asked her out, but we kinda both agreed that there was no use, knowing each other’s feeling was good enough and that we didn’t need to do anything extravagant.
i don’t know what she’s tell her fans but i’m sure i hadn’t disclose our relationship. the fans shipped us, sure, but i don’t think i’ve ever said it out loud.
we knew we’d have to say it someday. so i thought, why not today? as i surprised her at her own house.
her fans watching her stream are tweeting at me like crazy. no one had seen her like that. she practically lives in sweats and hoodies, constantly.
the most fitting thing i’ve seen her wear is skinny jeans, but she would always wear a baggy top with it. people always say she drowns in her clothes, but i never complained, she looked good either ways.
but seeing her in that dress, damn. i needed to be there and hug her, kiss her. i couldn’t wait to see her in that dress, right in front of my eyes.
our observant fans or close friends have asked if she dresses the same at home, and my answer always stayed the same. that she lives in baggy clothes.
there are some creepy people out there who would ask that question in a sexual way. thinking i’ve seen her in less. but truthfully, i haven’t. we’re not pass that stage, and we prefer it this way.
what the fans see is what i see on the daily, too.
and no, me going to her house to see her more clearly in that dress doesn’t mean we’re doing anything. i just want to observe her beauty. see what she’s hid from me.

YOUR POV
chat was going crazy over george’s donation. but you still laughed it off. it’s all a joke anyways, him coming over.
he was coming over later, after noon, so he wouldn’t just drop everything to see you right now.
“geez. chill out, chat, george was joking.” you told them.
you sat on your gaming chair more comfortably as you started playing a couple rounds of among us with your fans. you told them not to cheat and watch your stream as they’re playing ad lucky you, they listened.
for some reason, your chat still kept blowing up with george comments. maybe they were still caught up on that comment he said earlier.
but you hadn’t thought that he’d be behind you the entire time, telling the chat to not make it obvious.
“happy birthday, b” you heard a very familiar voice from behind you.
you almost had a whiplash from how quick you turned your head to see who was behind you.
you stood up to hug him, almost falling to the floor, stumbling on your own feet.
with the way you ran to him, he almost fell to the floor. “you’re here, you’re here.” you kept repeating it to him, not believing that he actually came. you knew he’d come later, but not this early.
george moved you back gently to see your full outfit. you two were aware that the facecam is still on, and pointing to you two, seeing every move.
“come here.” he whispered to you before grabbing your waist, to kiss you.
you two took a little while enjoying each other’s company, still in front of everyone on twitch.
he moved you back a little, turning you to face your gaming monitors. “MY GIRLFRIEND, EVERYBODY. isn’t she so hot, oh my god.” he said to the stream.
you laughed at his stupid antics, covering your face with your hands as you blushed.
your chat didn’t stop talking about the interaction, not believing that their ship was finally sailing.
you played a couple more rounds of among us with them, george taking over sometime or making funny comments to entertain your chat while you played.
after the stream, george and you took time to enjoy the time alone, ordering in your favourite food and opening gifts that he bought you.
you forgot to mention that both of your twitter was blowing up too much that you had to mute it for a while. you knew that a lot had screenshot the cute moment.
you took note to screenshot some of the photos on twitter later.
