Nonono! I promise it isn't! At least, I really don't want it to be...

It's been sort of a tough few months for me since the last update. Stuff has either stolen away my very easily stealable attention, stood directly in my way, or I just don’t feel any motivation to get up and work on any of the things I want to work on. I feel really guilty that it's taking me so long to write the next batch of chapters, and in a screwy way it's that guilt that scares me away from working, as if I'm worried that nothing I can produce will be worth the wait. I know it's silly, but that's just the way my brain works.

So as much as I hate to say it: It'll be ready when it's ready. I've learned my lesson before about trying to complete something by a specific date. So I'm just gonna work through it somehow and it's gotta work out eventually.

On a slightly related note, I've actually been considering going back to the previous chapters and rewriting them a little now that I have a better idea of where the plot is going, but, idk, there's still some other things I should figure out first.

I was not planning on it, but I absolutely would not be opposed to writing something with transfem Denji! I read a fic with transfem egg Denji and it was absolutely splendid. I don't know if I'll have time to write it soon, but... Eventually! Maybe over the summer! (or hey, maybe I will manage a ficlet for Denji Week!)

I do plan on finishing it!! And I mean that. For once lol. It has a super special place in my heart, but for the past few months I was in a pretty toxic work environment that took up a lot of my time and took away a lot of my writing motivation.

However, I have a new job now that has given me much more time and I’m hoping to use it to catch up on some of the series I’ve let fall to the way side…and Lost In Your Depths is first!!

I actually only have two (or 3?) more parts planned out so there’s not much left and I really want to do it justice!

So, once I’m done with kinktober, I want to try to get some series pieces out! 🥰

By the end of this week, I will almost certainly collapse from exhaustion from the irregular sleeping schedule of the past 2 weeks that inevitably happens as a result of being a fan of three sports at the same time 🥲

I have been watching US Open 🎾 in the evening up till ungodly hours in the morning because there have been so many 4 to 5-sets matches.

I also watch some World Cup 2022 qualifiers for Europe ⚽️ in the evening (I support die Mannshaft 🇩🇪, but follow Сборная 🇷🇺, OnsOranje 🇳🇱 and the Three Lions 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 as well). 

Then there is F1🏎′s triple header of Spa (on Sunday, I just went to take a nap 💤 after 2 hours of waiting lmao because I expected no actual racing would happen given that the heavy downpour wouldn’t stop), Zandvoort (which I had to wake up rather early on both Saturday and Sunday to avoid getting caught in the traffic and to have enough time to settle down before all the action) and Imola.

Oh wells, at least I had two weeks of adrenaline, emotional rollercoasters, and mentally, I feel satisfied :”)

I think about Tsumugi as the mastermind a lot. Not the Junko fan girl fanon bullshit, but the canon mastermind Tsu.

Someone so desperate to keep this dream world of hers alive and finally coming to terms that either she would have to go back to her boring mundane life where her hobbies were limited to her work, and where she was most likely overworked as well, or die there.

And that life… was one she realized she didn’t want to live anymore, shown with her wide smile as Junko and her sad expression as Tsumugi. She doesn’t idolize Junko. She idolizes Junko’s world.

I think about that Tsumugi a lot.

Ok not to write a thesis about the mummy this fine morning but. Tbh I do think it’s super interesting how it seems to comment on indiana Jones specifically. So okay, the plot of both the mummy and the original Indiana Jones movies (with the possible exception of temple of doom which is.... temple of doom. I can’t say that it’s aged badly because I’m fairly sure it was also really bad for the time!) is about archeology For Power- you have two opposing sides set up, one with pure motives and the other with more.... questionable ones (in Indiana Jones, these ones are actual Nazis so um. You can tell the difference very easily). That said, as most ppl who’ve watched the Indiana jones movies recently have uncomfortably realized, the ‘good’ adventurers often aren’t paragons of morality themselves- their motives, aside from the pretty sympathetic one of ‘spiting hitler’ are to relocate these incredibly significant cultural artifacts to American museums, stealing them from their country of origin and the people they’re most important to (which, frankly, is also using them in service of affirming imperialism, just in service of an empire the audience is meant to root for). And typically, while these movies end with the artifacts in question destroying the nazis, the good party is spared from these disastrous effects because they have a better understanding of the history. Hell, in raiders Indy even succeeds in bringing the arc back to America.

Yeah, the mummy is not like that. Don’t get me wrong- it’s not like, a progressive masterpiece, there are plenty of questionable racial aspects at play, but they do get one thing right, and that’s how they treat the morality of the adventure itself. The main protagonists all have fairly selfish if understandable motives for wanting to go to Hamunaptra- brenden fraiser because he owes evie, evie because she wants to further her own academic career, and evie’s comic relief brother because he wants money. The ‘bad’ party that they’re shown in contrast to is um. Motivated by greed and thirst for recognition. They’re also pretty clearly modeled after the Indiana Jones aesthetic- they’re trigger-fingered, bourbon-slinging Americans and they even wear the same goddamn hat.

And the thing is? While the Americans are the party that the mummy comes after first, it’s not because they’re in some way morally or intellectually inferior- both groups played a pretty equal role in bringing the titular mummy back to life. While the protagonists are obviously, you know, the protagonists, the mummy himself is arguably portrayed pretty empathetically- he killed a guy, sure, but he was tragically in love! He’s still tragically in love 3,000 years later! And idk, even though the mummy isn’t particularly greedy or in need of institutional validation, the irony of him using the archeologist’s body parts for his own needs in the same way they were all set to use his for theirs? Pretty interesting. The original movie ends with Brenden fraiser and co escaping sure, but they aren’t really rewarded for their actions. If anything, they’ve further buried and protected the artifacts they were after... in accordance with the wishes of the people who’s culture they were trying to profit off of. So while this is all sort of baby’s first critique of adventure movies (like, it’s even something the mcu has explicitly noted- the MCU!), I think it’s sort of cool to look at how these criticisms developed in-genre.

7 reasons to create Yuru-Chara for "Jameson's Door"

So, to begin with, the word "Yuru-Chara is not at all the name of Chara from some Alternative Undertale Universe" Yuru ", and even more so it is not a reference to one member of Jameson's Door community, which has such a nickname in Discord... "Yuru-Chara" is a kind of mascot, but only in the Japanese way. They necessarily look "very cute" (kawaii), which means that their design should be memorable due to its simplicity (so that such a character would be easy to draw even a baby). The goals of Yuru-Chara are obvious - to codify the advertised product, or, more simply, to be its symbol, which would immediately be associated with the product advertised (IMHO, Robbie the Rabbit from Silent Hill franchise is kind of "Yuru-Chara" but he's not enough "moe" on my opinion).

Well, let me explain the reasons why I believe that the Jameson's Door project needs "Yuru-Chara"

1) Community. Yes, you, my dear friends. So, When I invited people to join the project, the Silent Hill fans (who were a priority, because the project was designed specifically for them) reacted rather coldly and even negatively. Messages in which they simply scolded me and sending to hell, were far from rare. But Undertale's fans (to whom I sent out invitations "just for lulz" - forgive me, my friends, but I say how it really was) responded most willingly, and gladly accepted the invitations (for which I thank them & you personally by the bottom of my heart!) 2) Nikita "Bratish" Kuplinov. He is the lead artist of the project, it depends on him what "face" will have "Jameson's Door". But he is far from a professional (some will try to challenge this, but this is really so, he himself writes in his portfolio on DeviantArt that he is just hobbyist), so his drawings, which he does NOT from photographs, but draws in a vector, do not corny fit in a grave and gloomy style, which was set by Silent Hill. In addition, he is clearly addicted to anime - these are his main subscriptions (and followers) to DeviantArt & Pixiv, and indeed his drawing style is clearly strongly inspired by this genre. 3) My personal impressions after walkthrough Silent Hill 1. The fact is that when I played the above game, I was very embarrassed that there was practically no character on which, in general, the goal of the game was tied. In case someone hasn't guessed, I'm talking about Cheryl Mason. She runs away from her father (whom we play as) and our goal is to find her. At the very beginning of develop, I confess, I conceived the idea that the main character had a wife. And until recently (read - before the idea of ​​registering an account on Reddit), I did not even think about returning to the topic of a female character in Jameson's Door, if... 6) And yes, Nikita Kuplinov AGAIN! Oh yeah, this person still haunts me. The fact is that, despite his seeming dependence on me, in fact, he created most of the art before I met him (he was going to do FreeDoom 3, can you imagine?), And in general, he is an extremely willful person. All you need to do is look at his art with his "avatar" (especially "Gamedeveloper's Life"), or the infamous comic strip, "Jameson's Nosebleed". Yes, to be honest, I was completely unaware of the existence of this art until he published it on his profile. It was his strange (and stupid as I thought before writing this post) fantasy, from start to finish. He even add logo of "SH-Team's Core" that I lead, in order, apparently, to make fun of me, to make everyone think that he did art in full agreement with me, although this was ABSOLUTELY wrong! Yknow how a seblos kiss is like, the main thing we're all looking forward to for the seblos development this season?

I suddenly realised that seblos has been an established relationship since season 1 episode 5 right? Yet the newer relationships, Redlyn and Rini, have very open acts of PDA and no one gives those a second thought. So why shouldn't seblos be kissing and holding hands and cuddling like the rest of them? They're like 15 and in probably their first high-school relationship, in real life they'd be all over each other.

And why should their first kiss on screen be a big deal? (we can see almost every interview with Joe and Frankie includes the question "when is seblos gonna kiss")

Why should it have a huge buildup when all this time the other couples just kiss randomly throughout episodes?

It's almost like they want to be able to say "look how inclusive we are, we have gae people and they kiss"

if they were really inclusive, they'd have all 3 current couples act like actual teenage couples.

there’s a lot of struggles i face as a fat person but one of my reoccurring (problematic?) thoughts is wondering how others, like partners or friends, can love me? or maybe not love, but have any desire towards. what does it mean as a skinny person to associate with a fat person? what are my skinny friends thinking? what is my smaller partner thinking/feeling? it doesn’t even always have to be on purpose, i’ve had friends assume i’d fit into things, i’ve had people talk about weight and experiences like we’re equals. what goes on in their head? is it as centered in their mind as mine? maybe it’s not just about desire and love but instead awareness. i know i’m fat, and those who see me know i’m fat but how aware are they of what it all entails to be fat?

I always feel incredibly sappy between the years, and I've been thinking about how much Red Dead has helped me cope this year. Like everyone else, I was pretty much stuck in my tiny one room flat for most of the spring and summer months, working, writing my bachelor's thesis and not doing much besides that. I don't want to get too personal, but when I read my diary entries from between June and August... it's quite the Experience™. It sounds horrible now, but sometimes the only thing that motivated me to get out of bed were the dailies in RDO.

I have played quite excessively this year and I probably would have finished my thesis much quicker if i hadn't, but at the same time the game gave me that feeling of freedom that I missed so much this summer. Just free roaming, hunting, taking pictures of pretty sunsets and then sharing them here has been (and still is) an absolute pleasure and my no. 1 method of relaxation. I've created art (not much, but it's ok), I've written some fics (short, but it's ok), and isn't that the point?

Anyway, what I actually wanted to say was Happy New Year, wherever you are! Thanks for all the likes and reblogs! May 2021 be kinder to us <3
