Thinking about Marvel movies again... Like yes the movies were bad. So in Ironman 2 I think there's a throwaway visual of a newspaper that claims Ironman has singlehandedly solved the war in the middle east. There is NO WAAAY lmao and really in the first movie too they fail to engage with the situation in Afghanistan in any meaningful way. It's stupid! It's frustrating! It's american military propaganda! But!! I dunno!!! There are some things in the MCU that still just absolutely captivate me. I can't deny it. For Ironman it's like - how do you overcome your past? When you've wasted your whole life being a terrible person can you really turn that around? Can you really do better? But you HAVE to do better. And one can argue he's going about it completely the wrong way (and he is a cringefail loser really), but he IS trying. That's why I like Ironman and not Dr Strange, I think. And for Captain America - oh I love the whole time travel aspect. A guy from the 40s finding himself in the present - isn't that fascinating?! Like he grew up small and dirt poor in the great depression. He had every disease and managed to pull himself through art school. Then he went to war and he couldn't have been older than his late 20s. Well, you wouldn't realize that from the movies. I think about it a lot though. Growing up poor in Brooklyn, that's gotta have an effect on a man. And Loki - he finds out that his entire life is a lie and that by birth he's the very monster his brother and friends were ready to destroy and what do you even DO with that ya know? And they go through so much, Thor and Loki, and at times they are diametrically opposed but they're still BROTHERS and you can't just throw all that love away, all that history and intimancy and they know each other better than anyone, but did they really? Ouuugh it just really gets to me okay? And there are so many interesting things in the mcu and I've daydreamed about it all so so much but the movies just. Ultimately. Do not care. About the same things I do. And that's okay, people rarely do. Care about the same things I do I mean. It's still fun for me to think about. Like it doesn't have to be perfect because the gaps give me room to explore ideas of my own. It gives me space to make it my own, to fill it with my own meanings. So I can excuse a lot of plot holes but even I have my limit. After Endgame I got sick and tired of having to explain away bad plot decisions. Captain America would NOT do that. Thanos is an idiot. Sometimes the premise is just fundamentally flawed. There's no saving it no matter how much I daydream. So I don't really keep up with marvel anymore. But... I still do think about it from time to time. It could have been so interesting.

Drew a bunch of Marinettes in a bunch of different artists styles it was a lot of fun!!
Artists who's styles I mimicked: @buggachat @hamsternamedmarinette @ladybeug @sabertoothwalrus and @anna-scribbles all epic artists 🤟😎
#my art#marinette dupain cheng#miraculous ladybug#miraculous fanart#style mimic#sorry for the @s btw#yall should go follow those artists if you dont already also#this was sort of inspired by a post the three artists on the top row made#i think they all got together and drew with one another#which is really cool#but i was genuinely confused because i mimic styles a lot#and ive seen others do it too so i was just like#wow they really know each others styles really well#until i thought about it and read their posts some more#style mimicking is really freaking fun and i think its really good practice#and a good way to explore other ways of doing things#like you really have to learn new techniques and get out of your comfort zone#also anna scribbles i could not find a recent pic of marinette in her main outfit#so thats the only marinette i drew in different clothes cuz i couldnt find a more recent ref of you drawing it#anna scribble marinette has privileges thats the others dont#but ye#i also threw my own style in there as a frame of reference to what me draw like#ive drawn marinette before just not in a loooong while#sabertooth walrus was the hardest for me to mimic cuz they have a broad range in their style#so its like which sabertooth do i wanna be in this pic#Buggachat has such a distinct style thats very clean and consistent which is amazing so they were easy#being easy or hard arent bad things either it also has to do with like styles meeting up with one another#buggachats and mine arent too too different in some shapes and aspects#so yeah itd be easier plus they drew marinette like 3 sec ago so i have more recent of a ref#as opposed to sabertooth who i have a recent ref of ladybug but not marinette so we got two diff styles in one

Anteater Weevil. Smaller than a great anteater and more arboreal, the species combo would eat more termites and sap from trees than ants on the ground.
@weevilsdaily Hope you don't mind me tagging you. Your blog is what got me to get down and fully design an idea I've had for a while.
I love both great anteaters and weevils so so much.

yeah so this was insane
#i feel like too many people reduce this interaction to jason being like ‘lol same’#but idk :/#this chapter is from jason’s pov#and leading up to it he’s like ‘people keep walking on eggshells around me bc of the the michael varus stab wound’#and he hates it so when he goes on deck to help out with the storm#everyone’s like wtf except for percy#and jason states how much he appreciated percy not treating him like a sick kid#and i feel like it’s echoed in this sentiment where jason could say so many things like#‘you should never feel that way’ ‘im here if you need anything’#but he doesn’t make percy feel alone in his desire to just…. end it all#which ik for some people that doesn’t work but you’re not a character in hoo and percy is dealing with so much guilt#and he can’t tell annabeth bc she’s a main aspect of that guilt#and he doesn’t wanna guilt her more and he feels ashamed and when he describes this he feels weird for feeling it#so having jason this tough guy be like ‘yo i understand it bc i felt the same way#that’s gotta mean a lot to percy#also insane how jason who also struggles to display vulnerability#allows it in one of few times in this moment just so percy this guy he’s supposed to be jealous about#feels comforted and not alone in his guilt and shame#and also it’s just insane how jason’s wanting to kay em ess does not get talked about AT ALL#and just seeing his mom and the pressure of new rome getting to him#like this scene is insane and i’ll never shut up about it#also ignore me i’m just finishing my reread of hoo that took all summer#jason grace#percy jackson#pjo#ashla.txt

This might seem like an "old man yells at cloud" situation, but it's just wild growing up and being told how dangerous distracted driving is - how, at highway speeds, you can traverse the length of a football field (100 yards, 91 meters) in a matter of seconds - how one split second sending a text while driving could result in a potential fatal crash, and then getting on the road as a driver and being surrounded by billboards. Their entire purpose is to catch one's attention, so they're lining major roads, which tend to be highways. How is it that you're told how important it is to never be distracted while driving, but still being advertised to?
At best, this type of advertising is an eyesore to pedestrians and motorists and a general waste of electricity to light it, and at worst, it is an active danger considering they are there to advertise and therefore, must catch people's attention.
I'm not even against advertising in theory, but this particular mode bothers me so much and I hate how pervasive it is - especially in large cities or highways.

The "Sansa reminds Sandor of his sister" motive that some people try to hitch to his character really just flies in the face of his actual attachments to her, doesn't it? Sansa reminds Sandor of himself. He sees the little boy who used to love knights in this girl who's been swept up by the same romanticism. He sees his abuser in her abusers, the much larger knight(s) beating on the helpless child. He sees how she is betrayed by every level of authority that should have saved her and remembers his father's neglect and Tywin and Robert's apathy for Gregor's crimes. He's protective of Sansa because he was Sansa.
And GRRM's design, that one of the strongest warriors in the series, a fearsome and cynical 6'8" guy who's "muscled like a bull" and has the face of death itself, sees himself in this soft and effeminate teen girl, and empathizes with her because he was an abuse victim too, is INFINITELY more compelling than "Oh yeah I bet she just reminds him of his sister," who he's never mentioned and who we know literally nothing about. Way to unnecessarily water down a character, you couldn't have ignored the black and white text more efficiently if you tried.

pisses me off to no end when people on reddit or whatever complain that the show wouldve been better off without the tuunbaq.....did we watch the same show? the tuunbaq is everything, it held everything together. the tuunbaq is the main transformative element of the terror. the tuunbaq elevates the text beyond mere historical fact and lets it say something about the expedition's broader context of imperialism. it hunted the british men who were trampling on its home as a mere stopover, a side casualty, to finding the northwest passage (for, you know, "trade with china" after britain beat china into submission after the imperialist opium war). silna couldnt complete a proper ritual with it because of the british men - just as british colonizers have historically intruded and disrupted the practice of indigenous culture. and in the end the tuunbaq dies, after all the injuries it's taken from the british over the course of 10 episodes and finally chokes to death on the worst of them. because there's no escaping the reality of colonial history, and there is especially no fantastical escape for the colonizer. there's no proper way for us to move forward otherwise.
good historical fiction doesnt have to limit itself to accuracy - it needs empathy to draw out meanings in history using literary craft. thats what the tuunbaq means to me.... if you wanted a straight depiction of historical record, just go watch a documentary.. TUUNBAQ DENIERS DNI

Okay, you’ve heard of pillow talk and talking someone through getting fucked, but have you considered the beautiful intimacy of someone talking you through dying. Like- you’re bleeding out with your head resting in someone’s lap, and instead of trying to stop the blood or help, they just run their fingers through your hair, maybe lightly touch their fingertips to the edge of the wound, softly telling you that it’s going to be okay. Dying happens to everyone, it’s normal to be a little nervous, but you do it so well and so beautifully. It’s alright to let go. You can relax. I’ll take care of everything, you don’t have to worry your pretty little head. It’s okay if your eyelids get a little heavy, you can go ahead and close them. Or, better yet, I can close them for you, yeah? It’s too much work to do it yourself, I understand — you just have to leave it all to me.
And they hover their blood stained hand over your mouth just to feel your breathing get all slow and shallow, reminding you of all the things you won’t have to worry about. Besides, isn’t this the best way to die? In the arms of someone who’s there through every step of it, whispering sweet nothings, promising that they’ll take such good care of you once you’re gone. Telling you all the things they’re going to do with your body, softly groping you, making sure you feel good and safe in your final moments.

no but the thing is. they KISSED. on screen. it was a real scene, not deleted, not removed from a script, it HAPPENED in front of the world's eyes. and AND the actors are normal about it and the whole cast and crew is normal about it and it's not vague and it's IMPORTANT. no matter the rest of it and what came after it, it happened!!

One of the most bizarre feelings imo is finding out about a prejudice you didn't know existed
Like. I only recently found out that there's areas IN MY OWN COUNTRY where discrimination against Italian people is a genuine problem
Like
I definitely know WHY I always assumed Racism was a prejudice more dependant on differences in skin colour but holy shit damn yeah okay so there's also ultraviolet racism too huh, we're all just drinking the shitty bitch water then
