The current plan is to write my dragon fic. I looove dragons, and I've always loved fics that make my favs dragons. Hoarding Humans is a good example of that ;P I really wanna do it myself! I feel a little weird directly using the concept of HH (just the idea of a dragon's hoard being humans! i've been obsessed with it ever since!!)... I know there's a whole Inspired tab thing on ao3 but remember I was brought up in the animation meme community trenches. I've seen some very vile things said to ""copycats"" (and it's usually just somebody who took inspiration off of someone elses art style or a certain part of another persons meme @_@ don't get me STARTED on the ragebait...) and I am not in the proper emotional state to handle that right now QwQ

However that doesn't mean I can't write about dragons. I have some ideas in mind-- I've properly conceptualized my go-to fantasy world for AUs like this. I know who the main cast would generally be (DICE! Kokichi rounds up some of his classmates from in game :P so people like Gonta, K1B0, Miu, Kaede, Rantaro. . . maybe Kirumi? I have lore trust me. I'm cooking.) I know the main premise of the story, and it goes into my own bullshit with dragons, because lord knows I ever follow any actual myths or tales (´ﾟωﾟ｀) (i read wings of fire that's good enough for me!!!)

I am still trying to learn how to draw dragons in a way I like though. Here's my concept for Maki and Shuichi ^^"

Overall the chances of this fic happening after HGH, as of right now, are fairly high. This is what I plan to write once I'm done with HGH.

But please, please please keep in mind that I . . . am absolutely horrible with making promises about my fics. I'm so forgetful I forget to even check my notes to see what I've forgotten. T_T my fics would be a tiny bit better than they are now if I actually kept track of wtf im doing. maybe i should make a checklist.

Point is, I don't know if this is what I'll write once HGH is done. I've done some estimating and while, for once, I do not have a concrete ending in mind, I can guess how long this'll be. I think... it might be around as long as M5? Somewhere around that 130k mark. Again!! I'm not sure!! I need to figure out what I'm gonna be doing for the non-Tsumugi half of the "recovery" arc, so who knows what the word count for this is gonna be T_T. MY POINT!! MY POINT IS THAT!!! It could change. By the time I'm done with HGH, I might write this dragon fic. I might write a differeny fic. Or I'll lose motivation to write anything for a bit. Lord I am yapping so I'll move on

ONE. Saimatsu mansion :D I've mentioned it here and there, but the idea is that Shuichi and Kaede are plopped on an island and have to escape. It's one of those more out there ideas G_G and I haven't really descended into my full levels of insanity yet (wait until i start posting my crossover aus /j), but this would be bordering on it. I have some more minor ideas for this one, but I haven't rlly explored it yet :'3

TWO. remember unexpendable? yeah so i. i really really like crossover aus. almost as much as i like giving them superpowers. I was thinking of an Undertale x DR fic where I drop Shuichi into the underground. Undertale is super special to me,, it got me out of a really dark place. My favorite OC of mine (Montserrat<3) is an Undertale OC! So I think it'd be a lot of fun, especially since Danganronpa is basically the reason I'm like?? actually living now XD I got a job because posting my DR fics helped me overcome enough of my social anxiety to get employed. So!! It'd be nice. i also think shuichi and papyrus would get along do NOT @ me also undyne would scare the shit out of him. Anyways I dunno if this would be another oneshot, considering the, uh. length of the game. and how insane i could rlly go if i went into the neutral /genocide route stuff too. I dunno. It'd be fun :P i also have doodles wait

THREE. I don't know what could and couldn't be used for a plot twist so I'll keep it vague, but basically it's a fic that involves the ENTIRE CAST. A bit of a challenge for myself. Everyone's back! And all of the blackeneds revert to, like... HGH levels of despairs. So it's up to everyone whos still normal to find a way to make them also normal before, uh. things get worse. TV GIRL BLAST 💥 (oh yeah this would be a kaede-centric fic! her pov for the majority. i had a lot of fun writing her during Unexpendable and i miss her </3)

FOUR. i got really into in stars and time so now i'm even more not normal about time loops. so let's put shuichi in another one! but i wanted to shake it up a bit and really let my less canon-reliant, more creative side flow a bit. It'd also be kind of a message to myself about life... WHATEVER Thats not important. What is important is, hey! I've been watching WAY too many Minecraft ARG analysises than what could possibly be considered healthy for my anxiety, so now I want to sic a bunch of them on Shuichi. this things unfinished because i only have very vague ideas for a few of the loops... but the overarching idea is that even the smallest (but impactful!) change in a choice can lead to an entirely different loop, with an entirely different entity. and during all of the loops, shuichi gets little bits and pieces to the bigger picture, which will break him out of the loops. idk this seems like a big and tiring project so this is more of a "maybe" than the others but i still think it's cool :')

FIVE. ok this one isn't danganronpa... remember when I said I was super into In Stars and Time? I wanted to write an ISAT fic. Siffrin and Bonnie are so so special to me and i wanted to indulge in that. I haven't rlly been writing in my oneshots though so I don't really have a grip on writing anyone from ISAT,, so. :( i have to spiral into full insanity privately before i can determine what is safe to show the internet /hj

And that is all I can think of off the top of my head. :P These ideas have been brewing for quite a bit, and ones that have actual ideas to them. I dunno which one I'll write first... or even if I'll write them. I guess we'll just have to wait and see. Who knows? Maybe I'll break my rules about writing two fics at a time. Just give me time ... and please be patient. I can only write so fast ＼(_ _)

would it be too obvious to predict that kiyo killed angie? because it seems like there was a ritual involved, and he's the ritual guy. and he wouldn't shut up about the resurrection ritual angie wanted to do being like an offense to proper rituals or whatever

you know people have been saying "yeah they're definitely dead, positive, i watched them die" so many times i'm starting to get suspicious

the instant kiyo was like "the spirit medium should be a girl" i knew it was gonna be tenko, and i had the immediate thought of "she's about to die, isn't she?" which only grew stronger as she was saying all that uplifting stuff to himiko

Okay so. I'm like, 99% done with V3 and I realized I've barely shared like any of my thoughts here so. SPOILERS AHEAD

-The fact that Ryoma wanted to die and was fighting to find something to live for only to find out that he had NOTHING...that shit was sad bro

-Was NOT expecting Kirumi at all but in retrospect it's the least suspicious ones that you should be the most suspicious of. Also her execution was p brutal

-ANGIE WITH THE CULT...the fact that she managed to brainwash half the group had me terrified. Also her Atua worshipping got real old real fast. I hate religious cults lmao I was literally sitting there like "I REALLY hope she's the one to die this chapter" bc if I had to read one more sentence of her being like "Atua will save us all <3" I WOULD have gone to play in traffic.

-Angie needed to go but TENKO 😭 She was just a hopeless lesbian in love with Himiko she did not deserve what happened to her

-Speaking of Himiko I was kinda meh about her at first but after the chapter 3 trial her character developed so wonderfully...it was so nice to see her grow and change and learn to express herself 🥺

The most amount of drama was when Kokichi tricked Gonta into kidnapping most of us for "Insect Meet-And-Greet" which well....is when I did some regretable behaviour now I think about it.

Group therapy spirals out of control startlingly quickly this morning, with Miu leaping out of her seat to accuse Kokichi of not caring what he did to everyone and Maki lunging to attack him after his rebuttal. Gonta hears his name tossed around in the chaos more than once, either to shame Kokichi or by Kokichi—though it’s admittedly a bit hard to make out what Kokichi is saying with Maki’s hand around his throat—but Gonta feels his throat locking up, his chest starting to constrict.

He knows that, when it comes to things like this, when it comes to what happened during and after the fourth trial, Gonta ought to have an opinion, but his memories of what happened when Miu died are already so warped and fragmented. Headache-inducing, truly. He can’t think back on it without starting to hyperventilate, as he’s hyperventilating now, his stomach churning and his knees knocking together with trembling so violent he genuinely thinks he might break his chair.

When Tenko finally jumps to her feet, yelling that everyone be quiet, Gonta stands too. He’s not quite as abrupt as Tenko, but being larger than her the movement is still enough to draw eyes. They pierce his skin, singe his arm hairs, not unlike his own execution, and suddenly Gonta’s vision is starting to darken at the edges.

As a child, Gonta remembers hunting for food with his family. It was a necessity, but a part of Gonta had felt guilty for the way the prey animals would turn around and run off. They were only trying to survive, after all—but Gonta was a predator, and well, he needed to eat too.

Now, Gonta thinks he is more akin to a squirrel or a deer, because he barely even registers it as he flips around and darts out the door. He opens it so hard he thinks it slams into the wall, and the loud bang makes him cringe, but not so hard that he can’t run. Past the sound of his blood rushing in his ears and his own haggard breaths, Gonta can’t hear anything, not any of his friends who might be calling out to him and not even his own footsteps as they pound against the tile.

He must find somewhere to hide, or perhaps he just collapses, but eventually he finds himself curled up into a ball on the floor, back pressed into the wall, hands tangled in his hair. Even there, all Gonta can hear are his own strangled, gasping breaths; all he can feel are the tears biting at his eyes and the sharp sting in his scalp.

Accordingly, it startles him somewhat when something touches his leg. Gonta jumps, hands falling to the floor as he scrambles back, but goes still when he sees who it is. Kaito is in front of him, half-kneeling, hands extended and expression tight with worry. When their eyes meet, Kaito manages a smile that blurs after a moment. Or, well. The smile doesn’t blur, but Gonta’s vision of it does as fat tears drip past his waterline.

“Momota-kun,” Gonta chokes out.

“Hey,” Kaito murmurs, voice impossibly gentle Gonta as he leans forward, arms still spread to invite him closer. Gonta all but falls into his chest, hands creeping out to fist in the back of Kaito’s shirt as something like a sob—more of a panicked howl—fights its way out of his chest. “I’ve got you, big guy. It’s okay.”

It’s less the words themselves that mean anything to Gonta—people say it’s okay all the time without any real meaning behind it—and more the fact that it’s Kaito, who is warm and close and smells familiar, that really starts to make Gonta’s trembles subside. Simultaneously, he can’t seem to stop crying, hiccuping sobs muffling themselves in the fabric of Kaito’s sweatshirt.

Kaito doesn’t seem to mind, at least. His fingers thread through Gonta’s hair and he makes these shushing noises, yet Gonta doesn’t feel like he needs to be quieter at all. There’s a shame to it, sure—but not from Kaito’s end.

If anyone had to find him, Gonta is glad it was Kaito.

“I’ve got you,” Kaito mumbles again. “You’re gonna be okay, buddy. You’re gonna be just fine.”

Strangely, despite the noise still crowding out the inside of Gonta’s head—he knows.

After,, years, i remembered i had this in my drafts, so i continued, i have half done, the other half is pending, but some day.

For those who might find this without context and say "ayo what the fuck is going on" "why is himiko so tall", this is for my fanfic, its called "the curtain rises, encore" on ao3. it's one of those nobody dies fics with virtual simulations and yada yada, you guys know the drill. since its VS, i changed how they look (and himiko pulls a saionji on us because nobody told me im not funny on time, alas, this is the result of it).

Some commentary for those interested. i gave the girls the prettiest clothes i could think of but i'm a guy so i don't know if i succeeded, i'm very sorry if i didn't, i tried. tenko looks like that one omori girl. tsumugi is now in her path to become goth (will make sense in the fanfic someday). kokichi won't know how to dress, not on my watch, he uses the ugliest attire he can find. i changed ryoma's design because i'm in charge. i made kaito beefy, no i'm not h0rny, i like drawing beefy guys because i'm a jojo's fan and an araki fan (araki one day i will steal your drawing style). you people have NO vision making shuichi a MCR fan, like he could be but i'm still in charge so he's now a The Cure fan, he has a the cure shirt, i was gonna give him a tool shirt (it's a metal band, not literally a tool omfg) but i think that would take it too far, i'm still deciding if he would listen to progressive metal or not (IT'S ALWAYS THE QUIET ONES TRUST ME). miu has a hentai shirt, i have no further comments. gonta is cute with a messy bun, if i was good at drawing i would add instect decorations or some flowers, but i'm not, so let's just visualize how great that would have been.

It wasted my time taking forever with the loop question, it felt like a rehash of trial 2 (my favorite so far!) but worse because Kirumi is a much more interesting character than Gonta and actually participated a lot in the discussion, it spent most of its time hyping up Kokichi instead of doing literally anything else, it basically only revealed "oh the outside world sucks" which if you played the other games its information the audience already fucking knows and it didn't even have a cool conclusion because the execution sucked ass.

Also, the fact that Kokichi spent half the trial spoonfeeding Shuichi the information is a narrative choice, but it's a narrative choice that sucks IMO. A major selling point of DR is solving the mysteries and having someone else DIRECTLY tell you the answer makes the whole thing pointless. And the crime scene isn't complex enough that analyzing it can carry the trial- in fact, compared to trials 2 and 3, the crime was extremely easy to guess once you find out the world is a loop.

I hope the next chapter salvages thing somewhat. For now, I'm gonna do something else.

also just. kokichi and komaeda both having what are wildly considered the two most gruesome deaths in the whole franchise (with strand of agony sometimes outranking one or both) and how genuinely, nobody gives a FUCK that kokichi died in one of the most brutal, horrifying ways a person can die. also there's a couple lines in v3 that imply that whole the blood is pink for us, THEY see it red- which means they actually saw like, real blood around that press. and not to get too gory but like..... since a hydraulic press is very slow, all the uh, inside parts, are gonna jettison out before the whole thing is squished. especially anything in the skull. point being, the scene the v3 kids saw is exponentially more gruesome than what we as the audience saw

And None Of Them Gave A Fuck Kokichi Died Like That. he died with two different slow painful ways of death battling for dominance and then it was actually a third, different slow painful way of death that did him in. even kaito still says he hates kokichi and that he was a lying sack of shit. i mean, i personally interpret it as like- holding onto hate is easier than realizing you needlessly antagonized and misinterpreted a seriously hurting boy and now theres nothing you can do about it because he's dead and you killed him, but honestly? i am not sure the writing team for drv3 put that much thought into it

im just so mad about what happened to kokichi. hes my favorite character in anything ever and the game he's from fucking hates him so much

i replayed sdr2 and v3 at the same time, and honest to god the way komaeda's classmates treat him vs how ouma's treat him is... fucking insane. with komaeda, he's exponentially more unstable and dangerous and yet most of them at least TRY to understand him, and when he died, everyone was horrified that someone could do that to him, even if at that point he was an active threat and nobody liked him

but with ouma he was ostracized from the START, and when he died, nobody actually... gave a single shit. sure, it could be because nobody knew he was dead until the very end of the trial, and that was kaito's time in the sadness spotlight, but... idk. it rubs me the wrong way. and the sdr2 kids were horrified at the idea of komaeda being tortured, but when maki confesses to ACTUALLY torturing kokichi, literally nobody gives a fuck

like. i like maki, shes an interesting character!! but the shit she gets away with narratively that's way worse than the stuff kokichi does, and yet kokichi is treated way worse.... I Don't Like That! its giving big "bullying the weird kid" vibes and idk it just makes v3 seem more hostile as a game

The playlist is gonna end up being pretty long so let me pull out a few I'm particularly excited about right now, one per chapter

CH1: Haunted House - Sir Babygirl. To me, this song is for Kaede's doubts after they find Rantaro's body. She's scared because Rantaro wasn't the mastermind, she's fucked up really bad, but she still has to keep going despite this

CH2: Leopard - Jack Stauber. This is one of the oldest songs on my DR playlist in general. I feel like it represents Ryoma's murder really well, especially the part that goes "And the minds under the floor / Don't see the life as a chore / Though the bad is gone, and they're no longer sore / They can't feel the light anymore"

CH3: ¡Aikido! (Neurotic Erotic) - Will Wood. This one represents Tenko's feelings for Himiko, and while it's fairly upbeat there is a sense of melancholy to it I feel that fits with her desperation at the beginning of ch3. Plus the fact that it literally has Aikido in the title is just such a beautiful coincidence. This is THE Tenko song.

CH4: Snowcone - Rei Ami. Rather than talk about one of the 5+ Gonta songs I have in this section (GIVE ME A BREAK) Here's one for Miu. This song is the perfect transition from the beginning of the chapter into deadly life. The first half is the kind of confident music that absolutely fits Miu, but it ends with a self-deprecating sadder sequence that perfectly fits what Miu was going through this chapter.

CH5: Kiss me, Son of God - They Might be Giants. This one's for Kokichi's re-entrance at the beginning of Ch5. I have two songs like this for him this chapter, this kind of arrogant boasting but there's an undertone of his awareness that he's truly alone because of the things he's done. I like the kind of song for Kokichi that suits the front he puts on but you can just barely see between the cracks.

CH6: Paparazzi Murder Party - Vane Lily. This song's for the retrial of Rantaro's murder, and the revelation that it was Tsumugi who did it all along. I really like the imagery of this song, it fits well with the idea that Rantaro is kind of a celebrity already (since he was the survivor of a previous killing game). And the lyrics also fit well with the slow reveal that she was behind the killing game "'freak.' / 'You're such a freak.' / Well, sorry, but / I'm just being me"

If nothing else, platonically or romantically, Celeste and Gonta would have a really compelling dynamic to explore - the real noble raised as a complete unknown looking to rediscover his heritage, and the fake noble clinging to her dream of ascending to aristocracy, juicy!

Kokichi is a menace, and I'll have none of his fancy jiving footwork in this house.

I've seen some nice variations of Kirumi, Mukuro and Sakura with Taka, I think matching the girls' sensible and dedicated natures with his own - and a lot of pairings with Celeste! Often with Celeste initially pursuing Taka based on how he fits into her desired aesthetic, feelings developing later, and I'll admit- they do have the spooky goth couple look down. I think the one that surprised me with how well it could work was Leon with Taka. Leon's volatility being shown as more performative, and in fact he uses his social fluency to hide his nervous need to be liked - it creates a compelling dynamic with Taka who cannot read a room to save his life, and wears his heart on his sleeve.

That is actually kind of adorable

Given Leon's over the top, dramatic personae - calling Makoto, as someone who totally understands him, his 'soulmate' fits well into his all or nothing style. No half measures with Leon Kuwata.

He kind of reminds me a lot of Klavier Gavin from Ace Attorney, although not a suave - they're both very outwardly loud and flashy; both drawn to the spectacle of being a rockstar, but are internally much softer and in need of reassurance from those around them than you might have thought.

fem!mondo and fem!taka are a blast to mess around with!

It'd be really interesting to see how someone goes about developing their relationship as women- A huge part of how Mondo presents and interacts with others is how he's tied his identity as a man to his reputation; his strength and pride as the leader of the Diamonds, and this is what has boiled over into his toxic masculinity. Approaching Mondo's crises and dated view of gender expectation from the lens of Mondo as feminine rather than masculine would be fascinating

@yaysof11037 [the pride comic!] In my main non-despair au I've got Mondo in my head as Bisexual, although takes his sweet time recognising his attraction to men as more than just 'admiration'. The pride comic however doesn't take place in that au, so although at first I was gonna have him with the Bi flag, I thought it might be more in line with the spirit of the comic if I left it open; so people could imagine what flag they wanted instead :) (lol I did actually mention it in the tags, but it's easily overlooked XD)

In my mind, I tend to see Takemichi as having a platonic found family style relationship with the Oowadas, basically like their 3rd unofficial brother- Mondo still being the youngest, but Takemichi as a sort of moderating, long suffering, middle sibling. I've mentioned in [here] (in the asks after the readmore) that I don't have anyone specific that I pair Daiya with. In my little non-despair au, he's somewhat of a permanent bachelor, and has only really had casual relationships previously.

I'll admit that Daiya and Michi isn't one I've seen before! Takemichi does have the briefest hint that he might not be traditionally heterosexual, so him nursing a crush on Daiya wouldn't be outside the realm of possibility. However, perhaps it's because we're introduced to Daiya through the lens of his little brother Mondo, I have to say that personally I can only really see Daiya as a sort of pseudo brother figure to the members of his gang.

Daiyakure is a pretty popular pairing, and it was a bit of a surprise to me when I first saw it! And whilst it's true they never meet in the games, I think people like to explore the sort of loose and wild dynamic they could have, and since there isn't an established interaction people can go crazy with it!

yeah, that's very fair XD I was thinking in the grand scheme of all the shows I like, and found that there are very few canonical romantic pairings that I'm invested in, and the number of headcanon ones I have, I could count on one hand.

It's worth mentioning here that the only pairing I really personally ship in Dangan is Taka with Mondo. However! I'm happy to talk about any pairings as well as ones where Taka and Mondo aren't together, zero issue there! My brain just doesn't really connect the dots of any others without prompting. My internal relationship needle mostly points to platonic like a true North, unless I see something that catches my eye and it knocks it off course XD

Taka and Hina share so much boundless passionate energy, and a certain naivete - I love to see them form a close alliance!

This ask was asking since I drew Kaito and Maki as adopted siblings in the previously linked ask dump ^ and [this one], the query was something like 'Since you drew them as siblings I assume you don't ship Kaito and Maki?'

In the original ask someone said that they saw Kaito as Mondo and Taka's kid- but I thought out of the cast of V3 Maki was a better fit than Kaito, so for that one ask, I put them as adopted siblings! In my own opinion however, Kaito fits better as Hiro's son, and upon further reflection I think Maki suits Fuyuhiko and Pekoyama best! Which of course would definitely make them not siblings.

In terms of their actual dynamic in the game, Maki's slowly defrosting nature and subsequent unyielding loyalty toward Kaito seems to be implied to being equivalent to a blooming crush. Whereas Kaito's own notion of romance is more oblique. Is it requited? Unrequited? The game'll never tell! To my mind, I don't pair them romantically- rather I lean toward Maki perhaps having an initial unreturned crush on an oblivious Kaito, but what forms instead is a strong friendship.

This ask was something like 'what do you think of saimota?' I don't remember if there was anything more to it.

I can't quite get a bead on Shuichi as a character - he's mostly reactionary, with those around him being the instigating force on how he choses to act. He seems starved of friendship because of his quiet and nervous nature so a warm, energetic presence like Kaito or Kaede certainly has him come out of his shell (literally). Shuichi and Maki have some similar traits, as well as sharing their heroic adoration of Kaito. The game seems to point toward Maki's interest as romantic so it wouldn't be disingenuous to suggest that Shuichi's might be too.

-monokuma spends a long time insisting that he does NOT lie about motives and that the dead can be revived, but *only in the ultimate academy*. this...still doesn’t tell us how exactly they’re being revived (character backstory put into a new body VS the og person being put back into the simulation), but it’s at least interesting!

-”i dunno about tenko, but i’m pretty fuckin’ sure kiyo murdered angie!” miu calling the murderer themselves but then proceeding to be completely wrong about *how* the murder happened happens in nearly every trial and it’s always hilarious. love u queen.

-”you mean one of those *two* people! cuz a robot ain’t people, jack!” MIU! after all that maintenence together!?

-again with the ‘no-one could have opened that door but kokichi’! i get why it was written like this, but it’s still such a stupid assumption for the characters to make. they don’t even ASK if the others can lockpick, let alone consider that’s something easily lied about.

This is a good chance to use that one headcanon of Rantaro sleeping late, because I feel like with all the waking up early and staying awake for long periods of time, he would be generally be pretty tired in the mornings when he's not on one

It was 8am. Shuichi Saihara was beginning to wake up, while Rantaro Amami was still fast asleep. He just had returned from an expedition the night before and arrived home at 1am.

Shuichi had stayed up until his boyfriend came home finally, and it wasn't long after until they had both fallen asleep.

When Rantaro's on his adventures, it's only natural that he wake up very early and go to sleep very late, and when on his adventures he does so with ease. When he's home however, it's quite the opposite. Usually to make up for lost sleep, otherwise just for the hell of it, he sleeps late. Very late.

Shuichi on the other hand, naturally wakes up early, usually around 7am. He dosen't have many problems in the mornings, it's usually falling asleep that's a problem. And with the tiredness due to waiting for Rantaro, 8am was almost considered late for him.

Shuichi yawned and checked the time. He stretched his arms a little and got out of bed. Then he looked down at Rantaro, still out cold.

I'll let him be for now...he's probably pretty sleep deprived

Shuichi went to the bathroom and did normal bathroom stuff like brushing your teeth, (omg it's 11:11 as I'm writing lmao) because it's late and I can't think of anything other than that.

He got dressed and made a small breakfast for himself, like he normally would do.

Two hours pass. It's about 10 now. Rantaro's still deep in sleep, and Shuichi considers waking him up. He decides against it, because even he understands that feeling.

It got concerning when noon hit.

Shuichi decided to wake him up at this point, he's been out for a while now.

"Rantaro?" He peeked in the room.

Rantaro looked like he was beginning to wake up, yet still asleep. At least he wasn't in a deep sleep any longer.

"Taro...Do you want to get up now?" Shuichi asked gently.

"Mm...no, no not yet..." Said the sleepy Rantaro, not having the energy to open his eyes.

"It's-...It's almost noon, are you sure you don't want to get up? We did plan on seeing everyone else later today, they've been missing you, too."

"Whose gonna be there again?"

"Well, Kaede and Kaito really missed you, Angie, Himiko, Gonta, even Ryoma and Tenko. Oh and, especially Kokichi."

"Agh...of course. Could I have ten more minutes?"

"Of course, but only 10 minutes. It's getting pretty late."

"Deal."

It was more than 10 minutes as expected. 15 in fact. At this point, Shuichi had to get him up and out of the goddamn bed, even if he had to force him.

"Rantaro, it's time."

"Please? Five more minutes?"

Rantaro wasn't usually childish like this, but he's tired (although it is a bit amusing). His brain isn't doing the regular Rantaro brain stuff.

"I can't negotiate anymore, Taro. Last time you said 10 minutes, it's been 15 now."

"Damn..." He yawned.

"There's now way around it anymore, you're getting up now."

"Or what?" Rantaro said teasingly, all though only half aware of anything going on around him.

Big mistake.

"Cant say I didn't warn you..."

Now Rantaro expected him to pull off the covers, or shake him, or even pinch his nose or something like that. The sudden feeling of 10 fingers on his sides caught him completely off guard.

"WAH-Hahaha! Nohohohoho!"

"I told you, Taro."

Rantaro grabbed at his wrists, twisting and turning in the process. While this would be the point when Rantaro would completely turn the tables, he's Tired Taro right now and doesn't have the strong muscles.

"Shuichihihihi! Stahahahp!" Rantaro whined through his giggling as Shuichi moved his fingers up to Rantaro's ribs.

"I told you, only if you get up." Shuichi said, almost teasingly.

"Buhuhut I'm tihihirehed!"

"I know Taro, but we have plans. You won't be tired once you get up." Literally only Shuichi Saihara could be so sweet while wrecking the shit out of someone.

Rantaro squeaked once Shuichi got close to his underarms. He stopped for a moment.

"Sh-Shuichi..."

"Are you gonna get up?" He said almost threateningly. Who knew the usually introverted detective could be so assertive?

"..."

"I'm warning you."

"..."

This is...kind of childish... Rantaro thought. Maybe he should just give in at this point?

One second too late.

"WAH-NOHOHOHOHO!" He squealed. It wasn't a surprise to Shu that his underarms were one of his most sensitive spots. This was something he knew very well and knew for a while now.

"Gonna get up now?"

"YEHEHEHES! YEHEHES, JUST STOHOHOP!"

And he stopped.

"Aghh..." Rantaro rolled over, clutching his sides and his face slightly pink. Yet, he definitely was feeling more awake now.

"Come on, out of the bed. Or I'll tickle you again."

"Okay, okay! I'm up now, see? I'm awake!" He panicked, scrambling out of the bed.

Shuichi chuckled.

"Hehe...about time..." And then he reverted back to the Shy Shu we all know and love.

"That was a little mean, don't you think?" Rantaro smirked, his hair still a little messy.

"Well-I...I did warn you!"

"Eh, true, but wouldn't it only be fair if we're even?"

It took the poor guy a second.

"...Shit."

Cue Taro, full of energy thanks to his wake up call, hunting down and mercilessly destroying Shuichi as per revenge.

The thing about taking an hour to figure out video game logic is that, as annoying as it might seem, it kinda makes sense. The people currently alive at that point are Shuichi, Kaito, Maki, Kokichi, Gonta, Himiko, Kiibo, and Tsumugi. Kokichi knows video games, but he also knows the answer to the trial, so he's not gonna give that away. Tsumugi also knows video games, but she's the Mastermind, so like hell is she gonna give away the answer. Gonta doesn't even remember the virtual world, Maki grew up in an orphanage without access to things like video games, Kaito spent most of his childhood playing outside and doing anything and everything related to SPACE, Kiibo grew up in a lab relatively isolated (his Inner Voice might know video game logic, but I doubt they're allowed to help that much), and Shuichi spent less time playing as a kid and more time trying to make up for his existence. So the only one who might be able to speed things up is Himiko, but this is the chapter where half the cast (including Himiko) have pretty much given up on trying to help and just left it to Shuichi. So she's not gonna help. Hence, it takes an hour to figure out a basic video game loop.

sorry anon but the mental image that keebo's inner voice might be SCREAMING at him that the world loops, and keebo's own thoughts wondering "huh............looping world? no fuckin way....yeah no way" is hilarious to me

i get that at that point it makes absolute sense that no one would know basic video game logic, but it still doesnt make the gameplay any less of a slog to get through. it's rough, and it's kinda funny that they have to keep showing that motion graphics chart of the signboard flowing in the river

it feels like the devs are padding out time in the class trial. the case itself is very straightforward, but the circumstances around it, the conflict between the characters that is unfolding, and the motive we get to see as painful closure by the end of it...that's what makes this chapter juicy

so playing it with my friends becomes.....loading up the game and catching up through small talk while i play psyche taxi, all to determine one more clue as to why the end wall is actually just One wall and how miu tried girlbossing her way to smash kokichi with a hammer (love her)
