Jack Rose X Kapyy anyone?

So whilst i was doing the Jack Rose recruits Hatsune Miku drawing, i was thinking of how he'd interact with other coaches. That then led to me shipping him with Kapyy.

I don't know what this ship would be called and I can totally see Night Swan setting Jack up with a bunch of different coaches to get more people to his shows. This ship would be doomed from the start as Jack knows that he will have to break Kapyy's heart eventually. In another life things could've worked out if Night Swan wasn't there. Kapyy is sunshine whilst Jack is Midnight Rain because of this, Kapyy loves him fully, whilst Jack likes him but doesn't want to fully reciprocate because he knows that he'll be dating someone else when his mother tells him that he has to find someone new.

I'm also not really into ships in general, but i thought that the idea of these two dating at one point was interesting, as i see this relationship happening about a year before the events of JD2023. I don't really know who i'd ship these two with normally. I definitely see Kapyy as gay, but not really the best with romance, and this is the first time that i've shipped Jack with anyone. I might draw them together again because I do think that they're cute together.

This is also more pose practice for me, hand holding is awkward to draw lol, but i guess I also wanted to draw Kapyy happy for once.

OnK Chapter 155 Akane Thoughts

Before I start rambling about the chapter, let me just confess that my hopes of Aka delivering some Chapter 51 & 52 parallels in the upcoming weeks just increased exponentially.

I know, I know, I'm probably playing myself but. In this week's episode we see Aqua and Akane go out together and starting to work together as a team.

And in this week's manga chapter, we see... Aqua and Akane go out together and (potentially) starting to work together as a team.

As if to prove that it's no coincidence, Akane is even wearing a choker in both, this week's episode and this week's manga chapter. Even though in the manga, she hasn't worn one since... well, the very chapter the anime is adapting this week.

It's like Aka's break was strategically placed just so the chapter & episode line up 😭

Granted, there's nothing to guarantee that he will keep it up in the next two weeks. Maybe this will be enough for him and he will call it a day. But since we've gotten this far and hope is free, may as well keep hoping while expecting nothing 😂

Moving onto the chapter, full disclosure: I've been half-expecting Akane getting the "Moving On"™ patented haircut because it very much is a thing in Asia, whether it be in manga or in real life. So no surprise there.

The reason she gave on the other hand...

The funniest thing about all this is that, hello?? The bangs are one thing, but are we supposed to pretend that Akane didn't wear her hair long as a kid? If anything, Akane cut her hair short that first time because her idol wore hers short. So why should anyone take short hair as a more genuine Akane thing than long hair??

But whatever, Aqua went back to his Love Now hair so the choice of haircut itself was obviously just Aka wanting Akane to be in sync with him. Because even if Aka recently spent 4 chapters establishing that Aqua is supposed to end up with someone else, he and Akane are the ones who continue to move as a pair.

Naturally.

So leaving the haircut itself aside, Akane is back to her original hair parting and thus (apparently) done imitating Ai.

The question here is: in what ways exactly has Akane been "imitating" Ai up to this point? Because I know there are a lot of different schools of thought when it comes to that.

As far as I'm concerned though, we have seen Akane, we have seen Ai, and we have seen Akane acting as Ai.

Needless to say, this isn't at all how Akane conducts herself in her day-to-day life lol

However, I don't think she means that she just shaped her hairstyle after Ai to be more like Aqua's ideal girl. That's fair and makes sense on paper, but if "imitating" Ai was just about making her hairstyle more appealing to Aqua, then why didn't she cut her hair after she and Aqua broke up? More than that, why didn't she cut it after she chose to support Kana's love life?

Because the timing of the haircut is key, IMO. She cut her hair short only after Aqua chose happiness and accomplished his revenge. In other words, she cut her hair short only after her goal of saving Aqua was accomplished.

To me, this implies that if Akane has been imitating Ai, it's been in ways that she thought would help her accomplish that goal.

Now, since she hardly speaks this chapter, it's hard to gauge what changes this will bring to Akane's characterization. However, there is one thing that already stands out to me:

Remember what happened when Akane thought that Kamiki killed Ai? She feared that Aqua would get his hands dirty by killing him in turn, and as such decided that she had to deal with Kamiki on her own in order to protect Aqua.

Now she knows that Nino is the Big Bad, and the first thing we see her do is... go discuss the situation with Aqua.

Akane now trusts that Aqua won't break, and so instead of acting on her own to protect him, she wants to be forthcoming with him.

Considering what I mentioned above about Aqua and Akane moving as a pair, I can't help but to think Aka may just be establishing Akane's own version of this:

And — what a coincidence — those lines also fit none other than Ai, who pretended to not love Kamiki and kept her distance from him because of how important he was to her.

Since Ai knew Kamiki was about to break, Ai put on a façade that wouldn't show her own doubts and fears. All in an effort to not burden him more, to protect him better even if she failed at it.

So I'm inclined to believe that may just be how Akane has been imitating Ai.

Aqua recently described Ai as someone who was always carefree, strong and who never cried. Needless to say, he was wrong about her, but that's the impression Ai deliberately tried to give. And what have we seen from Akane, especially lately?

Even when going against her true desires, Ai always put on a smile and remained flippant. So Akane may have been taking a page from that particular book... to be Aqua's perfect support.

His perfect ally.

I theorized before that this star here was Akane fully embracing the role as Aqua's girlfriend, but she wasn't just any kind of girlfriend. She was as supportive of Aqua as she possibly could, always trying to offer him solace, precisely because she knew how burdened Aqua was.

And throughout it all, Akane kept her own feelings and wants very close to her chest. She even intended to say goodbye to him with a smile, not realizing just how hard it would be on her.

Akane has been striving to save Aqua all along and playing any role she deems necessary to accomplish that goal (the supportive girlfriend, the well-meaning ex that gets in the way of his plans), but now that Aqua has finally been saved, she doesn't need to put on a mask anymore. Unlike Ai, who wore hers nearly until the very end.

With that reading, I can't help but think that Akane's wording was pretty clever. If she wants to be vague about her haircut being related to the "saving Aqua chapter" finally coming to a close for her, saying that she no longer needs to imitate Ai is a good way to convey it without actually saying it.

I may be completely off about all this, though. Truth is, we could sit here all day trying to figure out Akane's thoughts and Aka's intended meaning, but we all know that a lot of people will be running off with the most unflattering interpretations and they could be right for all I know. Aka's mind sometimes works in twisted ways 😂

That said, one unflattering interpretation I do want to fight against is that of Akane's feelings for Aqua just being an emulation of Ai's own. That doesn't add up, because Akane's goal from the get-go has been to help Aqua be happy.

And she had that goal even before she started imitating Ai:

Unless Aka retcons this, Akane's feelings for Aqua are Akane's own. He saved her and helped her be happy, and Akane has always been seeking to save him and help him be happy in turn.

It is possible that Akane has been trying to fill for Aqua the role of unconditional love and support that Ai would've filled for him if only she were alive. That's more or less just another way to say everything I already mentioned above.

However, even in that case, this should be motivated by her own feelings for him rather than Ai's. Not to mention, Ai's feelings for Aqua are motherly feelings and thus, strictly platonic. Meanwhile, Akane's for Aqua were paralleled to Ai's for her lover literally just a chapter ago:

So if Aka's writing is consistent, that particular interpretation should be off the table.

But that's enough time spent trying to make sense of Akane's line and Aka's intention behind it lol

Moving on, I can't help but notice what a big coincidence it is that right after we get a chapter showing that Ai and Kamiki are (in many ways) a failed Akane/Aqua, we now get a chapter where Akane cuts her hair short to differentiate herself from Ai.

Akane and Aqua may just be about to move into uncharted territory.

The first time we saw Aqua and Akane team up in Love Now, they did so as a business, fake relationship. Now, they're (potentially) teaming up all over again and being more honest while they're at it. What kind of dynamic will we see now, I wonder?

Granted, it doesn't have to involve anything romantic. This could be very well Aka setting up the stage for Aqua and Akane to end up as friends, and I'd personally be fine with that as long as it's executed well.

Regardless of the nature of his feelings though, I can't help but remember this:

Aqua once said that he will like Akane no matter what kind of Akane she is. With some luck, we may just see Aqua finally prove that he meant it.

His reaction when he saw her was so funny though. Aqua's feelings for Akane can be interpreted in many different ways, but indifference definitely isn't a plausible one lmao

Even here in this panel he's anything but indifferent. Almost like Akane just broached a sore subject

Also, it is kind of poetic that as soon as happiness is back on the table for Aqua, we see Aqua and Akane reunite on a chapter titled "Happy Ending" of all things lol

Now, onto the plot! It's nice to have confirmation that Aqua did originally intend to kill Kamiki. I'd like to know what exactly entailed his original plan, but that may be asking for too much at this point.

We still don't know what changed Aqua's mind, though. This chapter presents it as Aqua simply respecting Ruby's choice, but like I mentioned before, if that was all there was to it, then why didn't Aqua change his mind after he saw Ruby act the "I don't love you" scene for the first time? What let Aqua finally accept that Ruby's version of revenge was the right one?

On that same note, this chapter seems to confirm that Aqua has now embraced his life as Aqua Hoshino. He once discarded the naive thought of being happy, but now he seems ready to move on and getting a happy ending. Last time we saw Aqua pre time-skip on Chapter 151, his stars were still black. So, what gave?

We should still be missing a piece to solve that particular puzzle, IMO. I do think that Aka will eventually show it, even if it ends up being something as simple as "Kana True Oshi ❤️" (lmao)

Speaking about puzzles, it's hilarious how Aka makes Aqua be smart only when it's convenient to him. Just like Aqua magically could tell that his father was Kamiki just "thanks to Akane's movements", now he was suddenly able to tell that Nino was the big bad 😂 At least we're being told Akane already figured that out for herself, so that's good.

I swear though, if this doesn't all end with Aqua asking Akane what her happy ending is, I'll riot. Akane has spent the entire manga trying to save Aqua, and now that he's saved, she will be working to make everyone's happy ending possible. So Aqua better put in some effort to make sure Akane gets her happy ending too, whatever that may entail.

Things are moving super fast though, way faster than I thought they would. Now they even know about Yura, like?? Hopefully we'll at least get a few flashback panels to show how in the world they knew about her, because Aka is seriously pushing it lmao

In-before Aqua and Akane use a B-Komachi concert as bait to draw Nino into making a move so they can catch her. With everyone's help, of course 😂

I also can't help but wonder if Kamiki may pull some strings so that Ruby can have her Dome concert...

Everyone could see the Nino reveal coming after what happened with Kamiki, so I won't dwell on that. What I do find interesting though is that Nino is being presented as a fan gone wrong. She is everything a fan shouldn't strive to be. So knowing Aka, it's only natural that she will be contrasted to someone who is a true fan. Someone who genuinely wants only the best for their idol, without seeking to own them in any way.

Considering everything that has happened in the story, the two people who are most apt to fulfill that contrast are Aqua and Ruby. In Aqua's case in particular, that's a very interesting thought... especially considering his relationship with Kana and what Kana wants out of him: to be his number one idol, an idol that is an idol for him and him alone.

But we'll have to wait and see whether Aka sticks to his values or not 😂

All in all though, I'm very pleased that this chapter seems to put Akane front and center in this final arc, which is exactly what I was hoping for 😭 And I even got Miyako! I wish her relationship with Ruby and Aqua weren't so underdeveloped, because that family hug could've been one of the manga highlights for me otherwise.

I do kind of worry that Aka may pretend that now that Aqua has (more or less) embraced his life as Aqua Hoshino, there's no need for anyone else to know that he once was Goro though. Akane learning about it is the one thing I've always wanted to see in this manga, so I really hope Aka will at least let me have that much

weretangle behind-the-scenes design progress

i love <3 rambling about my design choices and i actually have a bunch of weretangle concept sketches to share and go off about

i started pretty early on with the ‘sonic = nightmare wereform, tangle = titan wereform’ idea - picked titan because it was one of the few minions without stretchy abilities, and i thought it fit well for tangle’s design and to contrast how she usually is, and then i did up some initial sketches leading to this one:

i didn’t push her proportions very far with this one, mainly just the exaggerated forearms and a liittle bit of extra fur; not nearly werecreature enough i gave her tusks as an inversion of fangs, considering tangle’s wereform is sort of an inversion of sonic’s and this would be an easy way to contrast them to a viewer; i also added some pinkish markings as a way to introduce a third color, like werehog gets an extra fur color in white, and to echo dark gaia minions having their glowy spots. the shoes are mostly her regular shoes with randomly different lacing pattern, as well as glowy aggressively pink soles with spikes mimicking titan feet, sorta. they’re a different shape.

from here, i tried pushing a little more and got these:

and here i go more for the ‘towering werelemur not used to her size yet’ angle, as well as still using a spiral arm pattern - which i struggle to draw consistently in any of the sketches that use it lol

the bottom right sketch is the first i did on this page; the shoe design is about the same as the first concept with regular laces, but the whole body is pretty different, using a lot more bulk. i use a consistent ‘wavy/fiery’ sort of shape for fur tufts, going off the two tall firelike spike-things titans have, using it for her tail also - i gave this up after this sketch because it would be hard to translate into a shape you’re supposed to see in 3d from multiple angles, such as her tail or hair, while also retaining a consistent ‘fiery’ shape. some of the added fur i liked and kept, others (like the tufts right behind her head up from the body) i toned down, and some (like the shoulder spike tuft) i removed entirely. she also had a marking between her eyes - also meant to echo dark gaia minion glowy markings - which didn’t stick around past this sketch, since it looked too ‘intricate’ - it would stand out against werehog sonic and call into question why he doesn’t have any glowy bits, and my main idea going into this design was ‘a design that can appear besides werehog sonic and seem like it’s from official media’, otherwise i’d just redesign werehog sonic a bit

the little chibi werelemur tangle as size reference to werehog sonic is sort of its own design; a little more ‘boxy’ or less ‘flowy’ than the other, slightly shorter arms that don’t drag on the floor, regular-shaped fur tufts, and a different hairstyle to be extra fluffy-looking. it’s also hard to see with how light the sketch lines are, but she’s still got her chest fur, just larger. this one also goes back to the hands being white instead of greyed.

the third sketch (supposed to be tangle sheepishly trying to tiptoe, but getting caught) blends these two together a bit, using mostly the 2nd sketch’s proportions, but a bit of ‘fiery’ fur like the 1st, and back to 2 tusks like the first concept above. the shoe design is still pretty tame, because shoes are hard !! i also still didnt know how i wanted the laces

and from here i sort of knew the angle i wanted to take with tangle’s wereform, so i did sketches within a similar vein:

(bottom right, realizing she’s scary now; sketch above that, realizing someone saw her and is trying to seem less scary)

here i’ve narrowed down to a few traits that remain, while fine-tuning the rest: a fur ‘crest’ surrounding her head to act like the ‘jaw’ a titan has, and exaggerate her chest fur; her tail being thicker at the tip like a mace, but still having a normal fur tuft shape (& kinda looking like an artichoke lol); one tusk at each corner of her mouth instead of two; tufts of fur at either side of her head to resemble horns; and a settled bodytype/proportions, with little variation

since her tail doesn’t stretch, setting the length is important; it should be long enough to have range to use as a weapon, but not long enough to grapple/wrap also, the precise size of her head in relation to her body does a lot for conveying scale, and this varies between the different sketches here; i think i like where i landed with the final, so doing a bit of variation here was important to see how to get to what worked best. i also start messing with her arm pattern again, because i want it to be easy to recreate while drawing, and a spiral is not unless you can make clear rules and a pattern for it, or the limb is vague enough for it not to matter - for example, garurumon’s tail. you can also see i’ve given her lemurish hand pads, which isn’t a trait we’ve seen with sonic characters iirc but i have always maintained that tangle deserves it because it’s such a cool design choice AND helps give you an idea which way the hand is facing, and where the hand ends since you terminate it before the wrist! i think it wouldn’t be out of place, especially when werehog has more realistic hands and actual fingernails, when we never see sonic’s hands gloveless otherwise.

also, here’s the first sketch where i have clothes on her - because i can’t see a canonical weretangle design not using clothes, even if i consider them unnecessary for animal characters - and i still took it down to some makeshift shorts and extra chest fluff, because i’m not too fond of the ‘wearing ripped, pulled-chicken clothes’ look, or just putting oversized clothes on weretangle. and the first actually cool shoe concept!! which is basically the final shoe design i went with, just cooler-toned metal. i also really like the tall shoes look, because it gives a sense of being unwieldy or restricting movement - the general vibe to tangle being way larger and clunkier, which her shoes fit into, and also are further armored, so the shoes really fit better with the overall design than before

last note here, you can see the sketch with most color is messing around with an added tone between the light and dark, as sort of a ‘sooty’ effect or ‘gradient’ along the arms; i scrapped this shade because i’d already added an extra one with the darker grey for her palms and facial markings. (which is an interesting note, because this isn’t consistent in idw which greys are shared and which aren’t - at some points, her ears are the same darker grey as her eye markings; at others, her eye markings are noticeably darker than either other grey; and sometimes her ears are the same shade as her muzzle, and just the eye markings are darker. in my own art, since i draw her ears with lemur fur instead of bald, i generally color her ears the same as her grey fur markings)

aaand now back to the final design for comparison <3

most traits are inherited from the concepts, such as the horn hair, single tusks, etc. so i’ll talk more about what’s new for this iteration!

there’s a specific layout to her chest fur tufts, and it’s sort of a ‘double v’, but one ‘v’ is inside the other and only has 3 tufts. they also curl around her neck and leave the shoulders exposed, which makes it easier to position them against each other. her arms have an entirely new marking, which is different along the arm, further accentuating the shift in proportions compared to a spiral pattern. it’s also way easier to draw without seeming inaccurate :) the upper arm has , if you look at it creatively, a ‘jaw’ shape - and the darker marking on her chest could be interpreted as a ‘tongue’ sticking up, maybe? it’s also better at clearly conveying which way the arm is rotated

the forearm then has a jagged ring pattern, like tangle’s tail, which also gives it a bit more of a ‘dangerous’ feeling. at first when i was coloring the design, only her palms were darker and the whole hand was white, but then i tried the darker grey on the fingers… and immediately it terminated the hand shape so well, and let her claws stand out without introducing a new color or making them dark plus, if you squint, it makes the fingers look like just another stripe! which is my fav part :] and then last, the face, which was also spur-of-the-moment that turned out well; i’d already been using a darker color around her eyes than her muzzle, and then tried a little curl around her muzzle and her forehead marking and !! it looks like a scar or something?? sweet!!

So... Frazer the voice actor to Dammon doesn't want Tav or the Dark Urge to romance his character? Well, shit.

It's late, I'm tired and should be in bed, just saw the letter from Dammon from patch 5, and yeah I'm a little weepy now. So excuse any typos.

Fair warning: Just some venting below but no major spoilers.

Update: I've got a better understanding of where Frazer is coming from and a better solution suggestion is 👉here.

But feel free to read this slightly saltier 🧂post. lol

So wait... Frazer doesn't want more work? Why? I mean true, I don't really see Dammon getting along well with a Dark Urge or a Tav Murder Hobo type, but a majority of Dammon's fandom we genuinely adore him and Karlach. And, I'd like to think, most of us just love options. We want to romance him with Karlach and a player character of our own design too.

Would I romance him on every playthrough? Maybe or maybe not. But I do know it will be at least once as Karlach. (I'm on two immunosuppressants. I don't-can't get out much. I can sooo relate to her being touched-starved stuff. I cuss just as much as her too-if not more.) I've got no problem playing as her but again most of us want more options. So what's the problem?

For her, the devs could even put in a few special lines that are unique to their romance. Hells, I would romance them both all the way through the game with Tav if I could so nobody was feeling left out.

Respectfully, I don't understand what Frazer's hang-up is at all. But it feels like a slap in the face when Dammon has become a comfort character to so many of us. We're cheering him on and we're trying to drum up interest to get Frazer a bigger part.

We do this because some of us have a lot of shitty real-life stuff going on, and BG3 has become our escape. And, unlike every romance option we have so far, Dammon doesn't bring us big drama or a lot of demands to the table. Even as just a merchant, he somehow feels... just there for us... supportive. He's not just a pretty face to us, we seriously want to get to know Dammon just a little more! We want him to evolve and grow. We want to know what's his baggage. At this point many of us would settle for him to be just NPC we can romance-not a fling mind you. A full romance like what we see in Dragon Age Inquisition with Cullen or Josephine.

But wouldn't it be cool if we could get him as a full companion? One that could perhaps be an Artificer in a DLC that would introduce that class to the player too?

Even now, when my Tav visits him each day to sell their things, I forget for a little while all the crushing pressure on my play character's shoulders for a few minutes.

In early access, overhearing him grumble about wanting better tools had me roleplaying to collect every tool I could find. A little silly minnie quest. Giving him hammers, and other blacksmith-related stuff, for free taught me how to raise my relationship with a merchant and get a better discount.

Perhaps his simplicity or just his kindness is his appeal. Perhaps don't give him too much baggage if you flesh him out more please.

But how do we get around this Larian, if Frazer won't budge?

Hate to suggest this but consider, Dammon has a twin brother, a nearly identical one. Maybe he has more scars, a different hairstyle, have fun with his design. Oh, maybe he never takes his enchanted armor off, and we have to go into the relationship a bit blind with no idea what he looks like under it all at first. He finally takes his helmet off and seeing Dammon's face we're a little confused. Trust me, we will suspend our disbelief given magic and dragons, for starters, exist in this world. Dammon having a long-lost twin won't be a huge stretch.

So have the twin, instead of Dammon, drop as one of the stars in a DLC. Have him join our party as a fully fleshed-out, perhaps mysterious, companion featuring the Artificer class and fully romanceable. Finally, the fandom gets what we want, a male tiefling we can romance. Dammon can hammer away at his forge and pine for Karlach all he wants. Frazer can stand by whatever principles that are making him hesitant to take on a larger role, more acclaim, another paycheck, possibly more work, and maybe even a gaming voice acting award.

By all means Larian, please throw all that money and acclaim you would have thrown at him at another voice actor. Let the new guy have it all. Sure we'll still pine a bit over Dammon now and then. But if Frazer doesn't want a larger role, guess we'll have to try and respect that.

AOZ Total Apocalypse Barry Redesign

so last year, i posted a couple of sketches of this design i had for Barry Steakfries in a scenario/AU where AOZ was a complete survivalist apocalypse. i really like the design i came up with, but my art style has matured and changed a lot since that original post, and i thought i'd give TA!Barry a revamp with an updated style and more details than i initially gave him :D

his design was originally based on Barry's Monster Hunter skin from Magic Brick Wars where he's seen with a scratch over his right eye and i thought that was a really cool skin for him, so i made a whole alternate universe design from that. thing is though...... the eyepatch in the original design i made was on the wrong eye. so like. i had to fix that lol. i also felt that the design didn't look visually distinct enough? like it's different from the OG inspiration but i felt like it needed more, so i gave him some boots, a belt, shifted around his injuries and gave him a different hairstyle. i really like the hairstyle i gave him, it looks messy and disheveled and yet is still reminiscent of who Barry was before the apocalypse and i also came up with it in like 10 seconds :3 also, i felt like his tie kind of cluttered the design a bit and didn't feel necessary, so it's now wrapped around his left leg as a makeshift brace.

Total Apocalypse is something i've actually thought out a story outline for, so the next few paragraphs are just gonna be me spoiling explaining the lore and why Barry looks the way he does, along with some other stuff :D (this ended up being WAY longer than i intended it to be lmaoooo)

the general story of Total Apocalypse is about how a catastrophic event occurs after Professor Brains mysteriously goes missing, in which an extremely powerful and unstable version of the AOZ Zomb Bomb goes off and sends a shockwave throughout all of time that throws the entire timeline into becoming a complete apocalyptic wasteland that sends all of civilisation back 100 years and kills millions. Barry and Craig, who appear to be the sole survivors of the event, crawl out of the wreckage of the professor's laboratory and must find a way to survive and possibly restore what was destroyed, rebuild a new life from the ashes or abandon ship and try to find an entirely new timeline where none of this ever happened. the story is pretty focused on the characters and how their personalities could change based on the events they go through. it's kind of a "what if i put these two through hell" type of thing lol.

i haven't planned this out completely, but the whole reason the apocalypse happens is because Brains has been slowly going absolutely insane after defeat after defeat and is planning to completely destroy the timeline of any and all trace of Barry Steakfries for good. he ends up having a lot more get in his way than trying to plot the destruction of Barry however, and it only makes him spiral more and more. the thing that tips Brains over the edge is Glorebax repeatedly trying to stop his plans both out of Brains wasting valuable resources on weird experiments and genuine concern for his wellbeing, as Brains has been acting extremely erratic, choosing to isolate himself in a secret underground lab for several weeks at a time and lashing out at anyone who irritates him even a little bit. shit happens, Glorebax discovers the lab and almost manages to completely stop Brains' plans and confiscate his scientific equipment, but he ends up being murdered by Brains in cold blood, taking over RBC and enforcing a sort of dictatorship over the lab and his subjects.

Barry and Craig catch wind of Brains' strange behaviour, and they come across a group of scientists (possibly the Science Team, haven't decided yet) who usher them into an alleyway and explain to them that Brains has been formulating an extremely destructive plan with highly experimental technology, and that if Barry and Craig don't try to stop him soon, the entire timeline as they know it may be completely wiped out. the scientists also explain that they've been in hiding for months and had direct access to Brains' experimental technology. they managed to smuggle it out of the lab to develop specialised gadgets for Barry and Craig to use to protect themselves, should their attempt to stop Brains go sour. they don't know when or where Brains is planning to attack, but they would keep Barry and Craig updated if anything changed.

they never heard a single update from those scientists ever again. not one word. for all they knew, those scientists had just entirely dropped off the face of the earth. the alert that something horrible had happened was extremely sudden. Legitimate Research's scientists rushed and scrambled to send a memo to the duo when they had detected extreme levels of energy coming from a small opening underground. Barry and Craig rushed to the lab as soon as they could, but when they got there, a panicking scientist immeduately shoved them into a nearby portal, crying out that there was absolutely no time to prepare and that they had to stop Brains now. but unfortunately for them, it was already too late. Brains had already activated the bomb, and there were merely seconds left to react, quickly activating the protection gadget, Barry leaps onto Craig and shoves him behind a nearby cabinet, shielding him with his body as the blast ruptured through the laboratory, tearing it and everything surrounding it apart piece by piece as the shockwave ripped through the atmosphere like it was nothing.

miraculously, Barry and Craig survive the blast, though not unscathed at they find themselves trapped under layers of debris and thick heavy dirt. luckily though, the gadget had also survived the blast, although barely, as its power was quickly starting to drain and flicker away, jeaopardising their survival. acting fast, Barry yanked Craig up from the ground and used the gadget's forcefield to deflect the wreckage away as they both hurriedly climbed out into the surface, where they found...

nothing. absolutely nothing. everything they had ever known had been completely and utterly wiped away. what was once a lively neighbourhood full of cosy houses and families was transformed into a horrific wasteland littered with the barely recognisable rotting remains of a life that no longer existed anymore. Legitimate Research's laboratory had completely vanished. the skies were no longer blue and sunny. they were instead painted with a sickly and unnatural green hue, which in itself was being strangled away by a thick and ominous dark smog that turned the whole world black. the grass was no longer green. it was grey, burnt and withered, with every single surrounding plant being reduced to a barely recognisable shrivel of its former self. it was as though the earth had been completely sucked of its life force, and the only thing that was left was a zombified carcass that only persisted because there was no hell lower than here for it to go to. the only thing Barry and Craig could do was stare, completely frozen in place as the feeling of pure, unadulterated terror and dread washed over them, and they realised they had failed their mission. they couldn't save it in time. everyone was counting on them to save their world from a terrible fate, and they failed. and now, everything was gone.

so after all that exposition: why does Barry look the way he does? wtf happened to him? well, at some point in the story, Barry ends up in an ambush that leads to him being brutally attacked by a horde of flesh-eating zombies, and he is in REALLY rough shape. he's quickly outnumbered by just how many zombies there were, causing him to lose an eye and have his entire arm torn off. this immediately sends his body into a pained shock, and he would have ended up as zombie food if it weren't for Craig swooping in at the last second, repelling the zombie horde away and getting him the hell out of there. this scene is supposed to have huge character significance for both Barry and Craig, as it exposes both of their biggest flaws and establishes a major character arc for them. the reason Barry ended up in a huge zombie squabble was because he was in a state of denial that the world they knew was gone now, trying to act as though everything would be fine if they just tracked down a time-travel device and distracting himself by trying to be the tough action hero. he couldn't handle his crushing guilt over the fact that he failed to stop the world from being destroyed and tried to "make up for it" by repeatedly saving the day and refusing to let anything stop him until he was sure he won. Barry severely overestimated how much he could handle on his own and got severely hurt in the process, which gave him a huge reality check that things aren't just going to return to how they once were anymore, no matter how much he wants them to. losing his arm and becoming disabled puts things in perspective for Barry and makes him realise that no matter how much of a hero he wants to be, he's still only human, and the only thing left to do now is to try to adapt and survive. but at the same time, losing something as important as his arm so suddenly in an attack he deliberately went into out of extreme guilt for something be believed he was the sole cause of sends him into a deep depression, and he isn't sure if he can live on like this. he gets better though :3

as for Craig, i haven't fully thought out what happens to him yet. i know i want him to become more courageous and play the role of a no-nonsense combat medic. the significance of the zombie attack scene for him is that it explores Craig's biggest flaw: his fear. Craig has always considered himself a coward. he's often too afraid to face any danger on his own and instead hides away and shuts his eyes until it's all over. this has lead to some pretty bad self-esteem issues and a never-ending cycle of anxiety and guilt. he knows how much of a coward he is. he's hyper-aware of it, in fact. the cycle goes like this: Craig becomes afraid of a dangerous situation -> his immediate reaction is to flee and hide, waiting for someone else to sort out the danger for him or for the danger to sort itself out -> Craig emerges unscathed, but incredibly guilty that he did nothing to save himself and had to rely entirely on the help of others to save him, especially if the danger could have put that person in significant harm -> he ruminates on this guilt, his mind declaring himself a coward and a damsel for being unable to help himself in the face of danger -> Craig is left incapacitated by guilt, thinking himself a worse person for being afraid and deciding that because he couldn't save himself, he'd be too helpless and weak to get himself out of any danger on his own, so he doesn't even try -> repeat.

so, here he is, in another dangerous situation where he could get severely hurt if he doesn't flee and hide away. he's incredibly scared, and because of the way he's conditioned himself to feel about his abilities, he does what he would always do in a situation like this: he hides and watches from the sidelines until the danger goes away. but as he watches on from his little hiding place, a horrible feeling of dread burns up inside him as he notices that Barry is struggling. he's struggling a lot. they're all closing in on him, and he's visibly scrambling to reload his shotgun in time before another zombie attempts to pounce on top of him, and he's running out of strength to just keep pushing them away without the opportunity to attack them back. Craig's entire body is struck with intense burning adrenaline, his heart practically beating out of his chest as he realises that he NEEDS to get out there and help his partner before he's eaten alive. hiding away won't do him any good now. the only way to save this is to attack. with trembling knees and shaking fists, he quickly dashes into action, grabbing a bag full of medical supplies he had stashed nearby and snatching up a blunt metal pole and bolting towards the horde of zombies. he charges at them at full speed, nearly tripping over his own feet from the sheer velocity he was willing to go just to save the one he loves. he raises his weapon and swings hard into the face of his enemies, striking and shoving his way through the horde as he advances closer and closer to Barry's whereabouts. terror fills his entire body as he hears Barry's bloodcurdling cries of pain, and a voice inside his mind tells him that it's already too late to save him and that he should run away while he has the chance. but even then, Craig still persists, his entire form having already gone into overdrive, each cry for help only making him advance faster and faster through the horde. his body was like a machine, instantly converting terror into energy, which only increased the more and more fear he felt.

finally, he had done it. with one last mighty whack of his weapon to the head of a zombie who was about to plunge its teeth into Barry's chest, he quickly hoistered the injured monster hunter up onto his shoulders and made a mad dash into the distance, trying to get as far away from the horde as he possibly could. he had ran into the entrance of a dark and musty abandoned house and, once the coast was clear, urgently tore open the medical bag and spilled an anti-septic solution all around the torn stump where Barry's arm once was and laid him down to rest. his limbs were shaking like mad, his heart felt as though it were going to burst, and his mind was echoing with an ear-piercingly loud drum that just kept beating and beating and beating against his skull. he was absolutely and totally wracked with fear. but he did it. he had proven himself. he was no longer a coward. oh yeah and his bf was safe too yaaaaayyyy!!

ok so. after spoiling literally everything that happens in the story, this is my new and improved redesign for TA!Barry :D i'm really proud of it and i'm really glad i decided to revisit it again!! i want to make a design for Craig but it's like 12 am right now and i've spent WAY too much time writing this damn post and spilling out every idea i have for this au looolll. hopefully reading allat wasn't too much. i love my little apocalypse idiot and i want to draw him again some time! he's fun to draw :D (also i forgot to mention some things, like how Barry uses the brace-and-go and hollywood one-armed shotgun techniques, how i wanted to put a symbol on his eyepatch and how i want to come up with a design for a robotic arm Craig would make for him later in the story, but it's so late and i'm so tired that i'm not gonna bother adding that in,.,, ecks dee)

Oh good question!

Our first twst ship is Azul/Idia. These two were pretty much the reason we fell into this fandom in the first place. Our very first twst posts here are fanart of these two, and we weren’t even sure we’d be getting this invested in twst back then. We kind of thought we’d just post a couple of things and move on 😭 Who knew.

Our most recent ship… has to be Crewel/Deuce, right? It’s hard to tell because this is one of the ships we’ve been talking about here and there, but it’s been just about a month since we’ve posted them for the first time.

But that was the entire point, Anon. Even before posting the sketches of the girls I’ve said a couple of times: I really like the idea of fem!Lilia looking pretty much the same as the original Lilia. It’s supposed to be confusing – that’s the comedy and the interesting part of it, at least to me. I love that it’s tricky to tell them apart, just like with Idia, whose baggy clothes hide her entire body.

Who knows, maybe she used to have a low tied bun when she was living in a forest with Silver. But maybe she didn’t 🤷 I feel like Lilia’s hair isn’t a commitment – she does whatever she feels like doing, just like the original Lilia. And I just happen to love it when her hair is identical to male!Lilia.

Funny enough, I think I drew the original Lilia with pigtails a couple of times lol

That Jade quote still lives in our heads as a reminder that we should definitely do something about it, because this is such a juicy piece of Jade’s personality, but we never get to using it to its full potential. One day we will..! Still, we think about it pretty often. It’s a pretty good indicator of just how much Jade (and presumably Floyd as well) would hate the feeling of betrayal. We always talk about Azul being the most yandere-coded because of how petty he is and how unforgiving he is, but Jade and Floyd probably aren’t much better. Their only advantage is that they don’t get as attached as Azul does (and he isn’t someone who gets easily attached either, so that’s saying something). Which in a way makes the betrayal scenario even worse for these two: if they end up actually getting attached to someone and that person backstabs them, well it’s over for that poor fool indeed lol

It could happen to one of them or to either of them, and honestly a lot of it depends on who betrayed them. How close they were, what kind of relationship they had… But in general, I feel like Jade didn’t lie when he said about dragging someone beneath the waves. I think these two might actually drown a person, then force the guy to drink a potion that allows him to breather underwater, tie him to a pole in an abandoned ship and leave him there in the cold darkness of the ocean, unable to die or move. And then they would come back from time to time to torment this person, maybe torture him, maybe just bully him a bit, maybe rape him. But always, always come back just in time before the potion’s effect wears off to force him to drink more of it. And then, after a couple of months of this life of nothing but loneliness, terrifying underwater ghost haunting and eel torment, they would suddenly stop appearing, as if they got bored and got over it. Just so that person doesn’t get too used to relying on them bringing the potion to keep him alive and all.

I can see this type of scenario for either Idia or Riddle, but it would be a bit different for both of them, I think. And of course, this is just one of millions of other options…

Guadalcanal looks a little like the 1940s-era superhero Sparky Watts, as created by Boody Rogers. Idk if this was intentional or not but they seem to have a similar "can-do" personality bordering on the absurd in different ways

I'd never heard of this character! But it's the right time period so I was excited to look him up.

...My god, it's uncanny.

There's a few things going on here, and it's a fun opportunity to talk about the design process, which I'm always happy to explore.

So when I first started working on Guadalcanal, I was immediately drawn to the little detail that he had one gun for defense purposes. It's almost silly, right? This big, imposing aircraft carrier who can't really defend himself at all and has to rely on the destroyer escort, but still carries around a tiny ladypistol "just in case". For that reason, my primary visual inspiration is, no joke:

Doctor The Meme himself from Gundam X. The wiki tells me his name is 'Techcs Farzenberg' which is an absolutely top-tier white-people-in-anime name.

Gonna be honest, I'm mad I didn't look up more pics of this guy before. Now This Is Fucking Character Design.

But he's a little old, right? And that hair just won't do. And I like how serious the glasses make him look, but I need a little more charm. A big boat needs to be the kind of character little boats will want to follow and defend. So we have a basic idea (as silly as it is) but we need to fill out the details.

I'm big on drawing design inspiration from old photos. Not only is this a great way to draw period-accurate outfits, but it also helps with designing more realistic faces. I find that when I draw inspiration from photos and real people, my characters feel more realistic, like people you could actually meet somewhere instead of just lines on a page. So I googled up "wwii navy men stock images" and clicked around.

Oh yeah, this is great stuff. His glasses dovetail nicely with our bespectacled non-combatant idea, and this lad's hair is much more indicative of the time period we're trying to portray. From this guy I pulled the hairstyle and reaffirmed that my decision to give Guadalcanal glasses was the right one. This guy just looks so approachable, and I want that for my character as well. If this is your great-grandpa, congrats, he lives in my head rent-free.

Now to put the finishing touches on him. I bulked him up a lot to give that air of importance and authority, and softened his facial features out to make him even more friendly-looking. His face - particularly his nose and mouth - are heavily inspired by an ex-boyfriend of mine (who I won't show here for obvious reasons lol). I think most designers can't help but draw inspiration from the people around them, so we might as well lean into it. I love the way my lived experiences can be reflected in my work. Now we can put it all together!

The one on the left was the first-pass design and the one on the right was a redraw after some tweaks and a bit of practice. You can tell I struggled with the hair and just phoned it in, but that's what first-passes are for. There's a reason I never posted the first design, lol. The second one I prettied him up a bit and broadened all of his features, focusing on his nose and the ratio of negative space around his eyes and mouth. I think this gives him a more mature look without aging him too much, since we still want him to look young enough to excuse his youthful arrogance. I figured out the hair as well, which was helpful!

"But why does he look so much like Sparky, then?" You might ask. This is a fun example of 'convergent evolution' - where two artists come up with the same result based on different approaches! A thing that's important to note about Sparky is that he was originally designed as a send-up or parody of superhero comics of the time. This informs a lot of decisions about his design.

Sparky has superhuman strength, speed, and toughness. Sound familiar?

But of course, you don't want to step on a copyright holder's toes. And you want comic book buyers to know they're buying a Sparky Watts comic and not a Superman one. Being a parody gives the artist a lot of outs here, ways to make Sparky visually distinct while still poking fun at the types of superheroes the audience is more familiar with.

Where Superman sheds his Clark Kent glasses that make him unassuming and approachable, Sparky keeps them on all the time. Superman has tousled black hair and a costume with his symbol on the front, where Sparky has neatly-parted blonde hair and a normal collegiate outfit that distinguishes him only by way of saying that he's completely ordinary. You can see, then, how they arrived at his design. By making him *different from Superman* they made him the same as Guadalcanal. That's okay, they didn't know. ;^)

STAR WARS EPISODE II: Attack of the Clones 00:31:40 - 00:31:42

Here's a diagram I made of Dex's Diner. It's not to scale, but I think this shows all the characters who appear and where they're seated (except FLO and Hermione Bagwa because they're all over the place).

#5 Seboca and human patron #20 leave while Obi-Wan and Dex are talking, and #24 Bogg Tyrell only enters for a drink and staggers back out.

Here are Kajain'sa'Nikto #1 and #2 sitting against the back wall beside the door. Maybe this door leads to the refresher because they are missing in a few shots. Nature might have been calling!

In front of them, you can see human patron #3. She has a hairstyle similar to Wilst Molan from the Outlander, who is glimpsed briefly at the Outlander Club, but it looks like a different actress.

Here is human patron #3 and the unnamed Pacithhip #4, with the two Niktos behind them missing. They return a minute later.

The Pacithhip might be drinking Jawa Juice like Obi-Wan as he's got the same style of cup!

The next table has 3 named patrons: Seboca the Dug holovid star, another Dug named Rednax, and the Nuknog private investigator Slyther Bushforb. (Love that name lol)

They're most easily seen when Obi-Wan first enters the diner.

Seated at the next table are two Rodians, Honka and Sidewa, along with a human companion wearing a helmet (patron #10). You see them several times during Obi-Wan's chat with Dex.

We all know who's sitting at the next table: Obi-Wan and his old pal, Dexter Jettster!

The next patron, on the other side of the entrance, *might* be Lowle Ch'red. She's wearing similar clothing as an extra who didn't appear in the movie (as far as I've found) who was identified as Lowle Ch'red, but they're played by two very different actresses.

Personally, and for obvious reasons, I think they should be separate characters. The black actress doesn't wear a headdress or metal armbands and has a tattoo on her chest, while the white actress doesn't. They just have similar fashion sense!

The next two patrons (#14 and #15) we never get a good look at. #14 might just be a human wearing a tall collar (much like patron #21 at the counter), but we just don't know as their back is always turned. #15 is an older human with white hair.

The table along the far wall is interesting. There's a human patron (#16) but their companion (#17) is tricky. It looks like a Weequay mask possibly, but without hair or maybe with white hair? Or it could be a different kind of mask, but the wrinkles kinda look Weequay to me.

Beside them, we have a single human patron looking wistfully out the window by himself. There might be another booth there, but I think it's more likely a set of stools like the Niktos are sitting at on the opposite end of the diner.

Speaking of the other end of the diner, let's head back to the back and check out who's sitting at the counter. Patron #19 is a bald human seen briefly at the beginning of the scene, blurry as the camera moves, and again later when we get a wider shot of the diner.

Next to #19, we have the diner patron played by Sara Elizabeth Joyce. In this interview with Amy Richau, Sara explains that George told her that she was a bounty hunter and doesn't like Jedi, hence why she exits the scene shortly after spotting Obi-Wan.

Also in that interview is this behind the scenes photo, which also shows a better look at diner patron #19.

Next we have another diner patron wearing a big hood, like patron #14, again with their back turned to us so we don't know if it's a human or a different species. It looks like they might have a large blaster hanging on their side too.

Two spots down we have another human patron, #22, who gets a close up shot when Obi-Wan enters the diner. He's got a pretty interesting looking collar on his suit - and it looks like he's carrying a blaster on his belt too!

The last sitting patron is this human patron, #23, at the end of the bar, close to the kitchen. In another shot, we see that he's chowing down on one of Dex's famous sliders!

And finally, the last patron, #24, who enters and abruptly leaves is Senator Bogg Tyrell, who we saw earlier during the speeder chase with her significant other, Seboca (who's sitting nearby). She grabs a drink and then walks back out, followed shortly by Seboca.

Talioang'ri villagers have stereotypes about stuff...

(Just wrote a little thing about common things Kxayltirey na'vi from the Talioang'ri village in the outskirts of the tribe's lands might say or believe about other parts of Kxayl society. Their perceptions vary based on how they view the Centre Plateau cultural hegemony, their age, how much contact they've had with people outside of their own village etc.)

Think of your own country or region!

Different regions will have their own situations going on, and their own stereotypes about each other. Many stereotypes are just over-generalizations over a few people someone met or just legends / rumours etc. but are common things people may joke about. In Finland two halves of my heritage, Savonians and Ostrobothnians, got their own stereotypes too and I figured I wanted to emulate that.

Savonians are known as talkative but having very riddles-packed, implicit and indirect way to word things. We are called twisted corckscrew people whose expression has so many layers of irony and playing shit for a joke in it that our real feelings are veeery hard to find out. ;)

Ostrobothnians are known for being.... Braggy about our achievements and liking to show off, and for being prone to knife fights lol. Also for being very spiritual and tbh there are two kinds of spirituality to us, some stuff that seems more like recycled animistic faith recycled through Christianity and that'll make you very compassionate to living beings, OR horrific bigoted authoritarian Christianity I see people get major religious trauma from... (I was lucky that this wasn't the case with my family, - but it was my Ostrobothnian mother that influenced my spirituality in a way that was non-judgemental and compassionate.)

See how interesting little detail like this is in real life? I want to feel deeply how my Kxayltirey people would feel about themselves and each other, what a chat with some drinks with a Plateau direhorseman would be like, what discussing society with him might be like... How I'd see his life approach and little gestures etc. of the unspoken. How he goes about his daily life, why I might love him and his family a lot. etc.

So I love to dig deep into this kinda part, drawing from real life social dynamics and experiences.

For my fanclan, I think it's fun to explore the variety of perspectives my characters will have themselves, and hear from others around them depending on who you're asking.

A Central Plateau direhorseman, Outskirts Direhorseman, Outskirts-dweller moving into the Txe'lan'mo city of the centre plateau, a family from the outskirts insecure about their status in Txe'lan'mo, remaining Ikran people of the distant mountain villages, Talioang'ri villagers with their mixed cultural heritage between Gorge Foresters and Plateau people (Kxasi), elderly Talioang'ri villagers, Talioang'ri youth, higher class Txe'lan'mo citizen, the Tsahik's close cultish follower groups, the traveling Trader Class....

...All formerly mentioned are possible Kxayltirey people you might meet while visiting their area.

All of them will have very varied perspectives and understandings of who themselves and other people are.

Talioang'ri is a village in the partially forested Lower Plateau, where Kxasi is from. Their cultural heritage is very visibly an admixture of Gorge Forester and Plateau cultures, making them kinda oddballs deep into the upper plateau villages.

Here are some stereotypes they often have about other regions or themselves...

- Gorge Foresters - unknown and taboo, confusion about who exactly are they anyways. Old spoken knowledge says many Talioang'ri have Gorge Forest ancestry. Some believe it, some think it's a joke. The hairstyles originating from Gorge Forest culture among Talioang'ri villagers are considered either beloved heritage or out-of-fashion and "not stylish" depending on who's talking. Many youth in Talioang'ri choose Plateau style hairstyles instead, especially when moving there. Long dreads from the whole head type of styles are most common in older folk, and young folk keeping them are considered either eccentric, rebellious or old-fashioned depending on who you ask.

On the Plateau Talioang'ri mixed ancestry is considered simply common knowledge, but many Talioang'ri folk deny it out of shame since they too want to feel like proud Kxayl and not be associated with negative Gorge Forester stereotypes. So Talioang'ri folk moving to the Plateau often get backhanded remarks about "having to unlearn those Gorge Forest ways" or have stereotypes assumed about them, like being "simple" or prone to fighting, which is quite humiliating to deal with.

- Talioang'ri villagers may either admire or resent Plateau folk. Many consider the direhorseman and craftsman classes of the Plateau their comrades, and often join their culture themselves. More prejudiced villagers, especially older folk, resent all Plateau folk for being "hegemonious" culturally (everyone wants to be them now) and how the Plateau ruling class drains the ecosystems of the Outskirts regions (including Talioang'ri)  and pushes Outskirts youth to move to the Centre, leaving many small villages dying out. Many Talioang'ri youth feel that their region is a dying backwater, and just want to go to the centre where most resources from the whole Kxayl region are taken...

- Some Talioang'ri villagers don't understand what's the difference between regular plateau folk and their ruling classes, or assume they're all basically one type of way. Some villagers who have visited the Txe'lan'mo city say that there is an obvious class difference going on in there and that the ruling class folk are oddly condescending and stuck-up, but the regular people are quite good comrades when you work with them and get to know them. Some of them will be prejudiced and insecure, though, and feel the need to put others down for being "new in the city".

- Many in Talioang'ri have never heard of the Ikran culture of the Floating Mountains, due to the systemic erasure of that identity by the plateau ruling class, and because the persevering ikra'vi villages are very far, far up and away from the centre hubs of Kxayl society.  Some older folk know about them and talk about them sometimes, but almost no one is interested or curious about that. Most Kxayl anywhere simply don't get educated on this topic ever because it's somewhat hidden information.

- Talioang'ri view of themselves, when positive, takes great pride in their innovations as crafters and hunters in the varied Lower Plateau terrain, where you find a mosaic of both forested and open plains biomes. Kxasi is an example of someone really proud of where he comes from. Some others just feel shame to be from "some dying backwater".

AVSL's Leon Kennedy Headcanons

I've been writing Leon since 2006, here are JUST A FEW of the many headcanons I have for him.

--Leon is autistic.  The next time you wonder why he says really weird things or has a flat affect...well...lol.  But he's a GenXer so he doesn't even know this about himself. (writing him since deciding this has been twice as fun and enjoyable)

--piggybacking on that, Leon doesn't really relate to or click with anyone and is known as a loner.  He always requests to work alone, which makes other DSO agents think he's a snob.  He doesn't do much to refute those claims.  Leon truly doesn't care what other people think about him; the thought doesn't even really enter his mind that other people do think about him.��

--He likes thinking that he's fashionable, but really he's a 90's grunge "leather jacket and boots" guy.  He just has money for the expensive boots and jacket these days. 

--His dad was a musician and a long-haired beatnik, and is one of the reasons Leon has a longer hairstyle.

--Despite the drinking, Leon eats healthily and has real disdain for junk food.  In his mind the two balance out (they do not.)

--Obviously his reflexes and instinctual movement is top notch, but Leon hates driving anything other than a motorcycle.  He sees vehicles as a means to an end, and usually temporary.  The DSO cringes anytime his mission requests involve vehicles.  Driving is a skill he never cared about or felt passionate learning.  (Other than motorcycles, of course)

--Exception to the above.  His favorite car is the Landcruiser, and he has a FJ40, powder blue, locked securely in very expensive storage for when he finally retires or gets a vacation.  It's the only possession he really cares about.  He is fond of Toyotas in general, and his dad drove a blue Toyota truck.

--Sometimes Leon muses about "if things were different" and thinks about his home and white picket fence and the wife and children he'd have, but every time he meanders down that thought train his inner voice reminds him "things are never different" and the thought stops.  Usually this involves alcohol. 

--For the ladies: he's a leg guy.  Any leg will do.  Curvy, thin, muscular, just showing legs is good.  For the gents: he's an arm guy.  Very bro of him.

--His most hated sport is swimming.  Not only is it difficult and blunts every movement he does, but he also has to get wet, and get his hair wet.  0/10.

--Back to physical: Leon isn't really strong with words (clearly) and most of his romantic talk is awkward jokes and banter.  When he's physical with someone, he prefers to just be physical and let his body do the work, just like in combat.  Which now sounds really unromantic when I type that out but eh oh well. 

--His favorite whiskey is MacAllen. No one knows this and he would be weirded out if they did.  THAT INFORMATION IS PRIVATE. 

--Biting fingernails makes his brain short circuit.  If he sees it happening, he WILL stare.  Then again he stares a lot.  But in the biting nails case it will be an intense, judgy stare. 

--He was forced to train with the government, so training in his preferred forms of MA and weapons handling are pretty much his only hobbies aside from drinking.  Leon sometimes hates that he doesn't have better hobbies, but he really loves martial arts and has a gift for that, as well as training others, so he has mostly made peace with the fact that he can't crochet or line dance or whatever.  Despite his inability to connect with others, he's a great teacher and a lot of agents look forward to learning from him. 

--He still watches WWE. 

--He also watches cheesy kung-fu movies and westerns, which is where he picked up most of his propensity for the ridiculous one liners.  Third favorite movie genre would be mafia and crime.

Stormy Hurricane (Pre-Beatles Era)

Now I will say out of all the Beatles, Ringo definitely looked the best in the Teddy Era

The bit of facial hair he has paired with that sleek silver streak is totally working for him

Plus I see that he knew rings were going to be his theme from the very beginning

7/10 we're starting off pretty strong here and I hope it stays that way lol

Tough Guy Attitude (1962)

Honestly still giving Teddy Era vibes even though he looks completely different

Ringo had baby bangs before they were cool

I know the outfit is kinda basic but he looks fabulous anyway

8/10 nothing too extravagant but he's still handsome regardless

Aspiring CEO of a Hairdressing Franchise (1963-64)

The Mop Top has officially emerged

I feel like if he wasn't a musician the hairdresser thing would've totally worked out

The look is softer than the previous two eras and I feel like that suits him better

8/10 again because even though it's a simple look he still rocks it

Human Sacrifice (1965-66)

I know y'all thought this hairstyle was atrocious but I gotta be honest it's not THAT bad

Like in the Help! movie I thought he looked really cute, and in '66 his hair is the same just longer

I will agree though that the whole longer sideburns thing did very little to help this look lmao

8.5/10 and I know that's a high score but he looks adorable and I will stand by that

No because I love this. I used to not like it but now I love it

This era didn't feel like Ringo to me at first which is why I didn't like it, but now I see how he embodies it and I'm so into it

The Rise of the Silver Streak (1975)

WE HAVE OUR FIRST DILF ERA Y'ALL

I know he had already been a Dad for several years at this point, but this is the first era to actually exude that dilf energy we all know and love

Also I know that the little silver streak in his hair can be seen in many previous eras as well but I feel like he really embraced it here idk

9/10 I'm really vibing with this one

Character Development (1976)

Why does every person who has such luscious hair have that one era where they decide to chop it all off

I mean if I remember correctly he was going through a lot during this time so maybe he just needed a drastic change or something

I do appreciate the silver streak being on FULL DISPLAY

4.5/10 not for me but I respect it

Ognir Rrats (1977-80)

I must say his fashion was on point during this time

A lot of these eras start to blend together after a while since they all look pretty similar lmao

But that doesn't mean that the quality factor goes away. He still manages to pull off most of them

8/10 and the Ognir Rrats movie lives in my brain rent free

YMCA (1981-82)

SEXY COP RINGO NATION RISE UP

Why does he look so good like this omg

I'm not even attracted to the cop uniform usually but I guess that's just the power of Ringo

9/10 this is my guilty pleasure Ringo era

*asdfmovie voice* I Like Trains (1983-86)

Even though I wasn't born yet when Ringo was the Thomas the Tank Engine narrator I somehow still remember hearing his voice when I watched it as a kid

Which is even wilder because he was the narrator for the UK version and I live in America

The conductor look does suit him though

8/10 because watching the show now and hearing him make little voices for all the different trains is top tier comedy

Commercial King (1987-88)

Ringo did more ad cameos in this era than I can count

I'm also confused about the commercials where he couldn't even actually try the product because of his food sensitivities (looking at you, Pizza Hut)

This era is similar to Rise of the Silver Streak, except a little less dilf and a little more "rockstar who wants to branch out and try new things"

8/10 and if you haven't seen the commercial he did for a Japanese sparkling apple juice company, I highly suggest you watch it it's hilarious 🤭

Volleyball Player Braids (1989)

You either get the title or you don't there's no in between

These little braids both suited him and looked very out of place

At least his hair was long enough again to the point where he could braid it

7/10 not my favorite, but he looked good and he knew it too

Experimentation (1990-92)

This is pretty much his default look at this point but the title does have a purpose

He had a mullet briefly in '91 and then promptly got rid of it lmao

Something tells me he made the right choice because despite not choosing a photo of it, it honestly didn't look that great

7/10 I respect him for not only experimenting but acknowledging when something is not working for him

Classic Rock Chic (1993-96)

When I tell you this look goes SO HARD 🥵

He IS a rockstar and is making sure everyone is gonna know it

I know he looked like this for about four years but I wish it lasted longer. This look peaked in '95 and there was nothing else like it 😌

25/10 I feel like I have to file this under the dilf category because I'm too attracted to it for it to be anything else 🤭💕

Fountain of Youth (1997-2020)

I am not joking when I say that he looked EXACTLY the same for TWENTY-THREE YEARS STRAIGHT

He cut his hair short again in '97 and then said fuck it we're staying like this

I do think it's funny how he had so many different eras when he was younger and once he entered his sixties he just found one he liked and stuck with it

5.5/10 I guess the short hair suits him but I'm just admiring the fact that he wanted something more low maintenance as he got older lol

All-Starr (2021-Present Day)

His hair is longer again and honestly I think he looks great

I love that the earrings and ombre sunglasses have not left since the 70s/80s because I absolutely love them

The peace sign necklace is also a serve and I'm not ashamed to say that he is the reason I bought one that looks exactly like it 🤭

8.5/10 he's really just adopted that rich guy aesthetic where he either dresses so cool it makes him look thirty years younger or he just wears tracksuits 90% of the time and honestly I love that for him 😌💕

OMGGG I'm so happy that you noticed that!!!! It was very much intentional lol

I don't actually draw them enough (and I post them even less) but I looove thinking abt designs for Nevermoor characters and why I might do certain things when drawing, what they'd mean, etc. The lineup I posted before I did in literally a day for a media adaptation class and I didn't allow myself much time to really think about and draw the designs. Plus I stuck more towards canon than my own interpretations, so I really need to draw everyone more because I don't fully agree with some of the ways I drew some of them. Looking back at it, I liked some of the ideas I had regarding shape language in the lineup and there's definitely some aspects I'd like to elaborate on and exaggerate in the future. For example, Jack's hair has sharper angles because he puts on a bit of a prickly teen persona, whereas Mildmay's hair is rounder because of his kind persona. Very basic and I need to work on making it more complex, but a fun start.

I want to work on nailing down designs for characters and rules for different parts of their designs so that I can easily draw folks in the future. I have this idea for a young Squall drawing that's on my to-do list of Nevermoor ideas, so I wanted to think about how I would draw his hair to reflect his more innocent nature as a child, but still relate to his hair as an adult. I also wanted to try and nail how I would draw his hair as an adult, bc I struggle to draw him and have never liked the results. Here's something from like two months ago, where I started to think about Squall's hair throughout his life:

Not fully where I want it yet, but it's a start! I need to revisit it when I have time. I think that especially for Squall, equating different hairstyles to different times in his life might make it more fun to draw him at different stages, because his life has been so long and he's changed so much. I don't fully remember every decision I made when drawing these Squall ideas, but I think I remember some of them, so if anyone ever wants me to elaborate I'm more than happy to!

On characters and dynamics

So, some stuff I didn't really comment on but the whole plants thing is very cool, lots of interesting philosophical arguments. Even if the whole... scientist shows journalists around thing was a little.... well, damn, aren't you nice, huh? IDK THAT WAS SO RANDOM WHAT DHSAJD-

Also the imagery of Vash having cords to all of the plants sure was something. (not negative)

I... was really confused on what was going on with his vine thingies at the end. I'm pretty sure both him and Knives got 1 wing each with their... tentacle... thingies, but they never really focused on it well (or maybe I was too tired to notice) so I was like "?? what is this noise behind him" for like... 2 minutes.

I think the show peaked with everything except the end for me (like all the plants stuff, like everything going on with the morality aspects and all that)- which might be my lack of trigun investment going into it to be fair. I feel like.... they did set it up but then didn't really deliver on it in a way that felt impactful to me, things were just kinda... happening and people were just kinda... there. Which like, i get this is kinda beyond anyone's capabilities but. YOU KNOW-

Maybe I just don't get it (likely), but I feel like it was kind of set up well, but then also not really resolved with the same "pieces"?

Like uh. we had wolfwood and vash redirect the cannon from the orphanage, which is very similar to vash redirecting the core-space-cube-thingy from the city in the end.

And we also had the whole "reach the person inside" aspect with livio, which then kind of came back with vash. But Meryl... idk, her part in the climax felt kind of unearned or... not as impactful to me? She wasn't really involved in the livio stuff at all.

I'm not saying Wolfwood would have made sense to be there in her stead, not rly, but her being there just didn't really do anything for me. She even already had her moment of not running away in the orphanage arc too. And she also didn't really have a huge impact in the end either, because it was mostly Rem's memory? Which like, you could argue makes my whole problem irrelevant which is fair, but idk. felt strange.

So yeah, I do think that i find it a jarring that the ending kinda had this whole Meryl->Vash and Wolfwood->Meryl rescuing thing going on, when I feel like the show almost exclusively focused on Meryl+Roberto and Vash+Wolfwood.

I’m not familiar with all the live sets. I do love to watch T in the Park 2016, Lolla 2017, and of course Reading 2021. I’m not the biggest fan of guys with longer hair but honestly, Van’s rocked every hairstyle he’s had (and I’m counting the coconut head era lol). What are your faves?

Also I just listened to that video of Lou and Bondy introducing their new song and omg! He sounds entirely different, his voice is soo much lighter. I reckon it’s from cleansing the toxicity that he’s mentioned in the past. I love knife-edge, asleep at the feels doesn’t quite resonate with me but that’s okay! I’m so glad that he’s back to putting out music he’s proud of and enjoying the process again! - 😅 anon

T in the Park 2016 and Lolla 2017 are two of my faves to watch too, I don’t watch Reading 2021 as much now as I tend to notice the tension between the boys too much and it takes away from me enjoying the set. I love Van’s long hair though I think he looks amazing with it 🥰

A particular fave of mine to watch is TRNSMT 2019 as I think they were at their peak here. I also adore watching Glasto 2015 as it was one of their first big sets and you can tell how much they’re loving it. They have so much energy! Lolla Chicago 2018 is amazing too. Yes I think you’re right about Bondy, I’ve been trying to put my finger on why he sounds different. Aww I hope he’s really happy doing his own thing now. I’m loving his new sound and Asleep at the Feels has grown on me hugely now and it’s my fave personally. Really looking forward to see what they put out next.

okay so what I was going to post before I noticed I got polls was!! i went through some of my sketchbooks and encountered some sketches i was 🐗 about.. i wanted to share them on here!! I'll put them under a readmore since y'all know I like explaining things 🫣

first off is one of my Steven Universe OC's... pearl!! 😳😃 what pearl? I genuinely could not tell you anymore 🫣 but from what I remember, she was a supporting character to my main OC, Aquamarine (the reveal of the canon aquamarine killed my interest in the show 😭). The two worked on this off-Homeworld ship but rose up against the captain and iirc crash-landed on Earth a long time ago? and Aquamarine was looking for Pearl, who'd lost her memories in the crash. something like that? anyhow I remember feeling like GOD when I decided on that hairstyle! i also like her cape, it's like a translucent bubble around her (was the translucency thing associated with all pearls? I don't remember anymore 😅)

next are some of my bnha 🫣 ocs! They were second year students, if memory serves correctly. truthfully I forgot who they were until I saw the little nametag in the second picture 😶😅

The one on the left is named Ikina Youta, and basically his quirk is that he's like the sun? He can superheat his body, emit light, and funnily enough charge stuff through solar power 😆 A big part of his story was that he was Terrified of his quirk, to the point Aizawa was going to expel him for wasting its potential. His family (he's actually a tie-in to my sister's own characters haha) develop adaptive gear that supports him and keeps him from burning himself alive when he uses his quirk, so now! in his second year! he is breaking ground and testing out the extent of his powers :]

The one on the left is named Uzumeru Tsuyume, and he's actually Recovery Girl's grandson! He has a mix of her and his father's Sandman quirk (i slappa you and you knock out 😈.. which doesn't sound like a superpower at all... LOL!!!), so basically if he touches you you get knocked into a deep restorative sleep. his mother, chiyo's daughter, wasn't a huge fan of him going to UA after helping her mother patch heroes up her whole life, but Tsuyume thought his powers would be most helpful at ground zero and so he went to UA against her wishes. He really looks up to his grannie and has lunch with her twice a week :-] his costume is somewhat of a homage to her, although his friends tease him because it also looks like a racecar driver's outfit, which was not intentional he swears!!!!! but the little racecars on his nightstand tell a different story 👁👁❗ I think, similar to Chiyo, his power is a little draining on him so he's always a little tired and grumpy. he and youta balance each other out :D

they're actually 2/3 of my 2nd year trio! the third member of their group is a birdgirl (i was still debating how Bird i wanted to make her before i abandoned bnha..) named Koetaka Hanami, whose power is basically being an Offensive Opera Singer... her hero name is even Coloratura 😆😎🤠 she's a huge fan of Present Mic and resembles him in some ways... She brings the heat and muscle in their trio! Tsuyume does most of the support work (although sometimes it's nice to have him smack someone just to knock them out lol) and Youta does a lot of person-to-person stuff.. i have forgotten the word for this just now </3 he can also be a human flare so that's pretty useful! but Hanami is the one running in and taking care of the baddies, with her glass-breaking voice haha

I moved on from bnha after the first movie (iirc? whichever one i-island was..) so I have no idea how they'd fit into the overall plot anymore teehee! they are just fun little dolls for my brain now :]

finally are some doodles of the one... the only.... mister sergio joestar dun dun dun! He's actually why I went digging through my sketchbooks to begin with haha!

i remember really wanting to capture his fuckt up Dad Hair + sideburns.. i think the left one does it the most justice- my sketchy style makes his hair lose the plot in the right drawing hehe. anyhow the context of the left sketch is that josuke was an evil baby and would constantly pull on his scarf, but. sergio refused to ever take it off because it was a present and reward for his swagrannie lisa lisa :') so he would just let josuke choke him out.. imagine he's doing the goku laugh, u know the one!

the right drawing is just the lament o' sergio to me. I forget the context but I think that look of mild concern/apprehension suits his journey pretty well.... POV you can sense Dio within a 100 mile radius (plot twist he is having his hot girl summer in japan and is unaware of ur existence 🤪🤪)

my first and i think Only drawing of giorno is here too! i wanted to try an animal crossing style out on him.. when I drew this I wanted to get more into an AC style for my cutesy drawing, to complement the looser and :3-ier style I would use that you can see to his left. i think it turned out nicely! I think the sketch on his left is of my main YOI character, but. your guess is as good as mine lol!

seeing these made me want to pick drawing back up again and maybe commit to doing some studies/use references! I've never done a study of anything and my use of references is. light at best <3 so these really are Pure Sketchies and Doodlies ur honor. i wonder what more serious art from me would look like!
