I'll put some of the stuff I find helps me below here. I find it really hard to describe sometimes so if it doesn't make sense or if you want clarification then let me know :)

Be familiar with the source material. This might sound silly but I've seen fics where the a/n is like 'yeah I haven't read Journal 3 or finished the show but I wanted to write-' .....Please. Just. Finish the show and the Journal. The Journal gives you TONS of useful insight into Ford's actual personality and I think you see a lot more of his mannerisms in it. Rewatch his episodes. Use what you've got of canon stuff.

Watch other stuff with JK Simmons in. It'll be helpful for you to pick up how he sounds and then make it easier replay his tone in your head and make your dialogue more accurate. I don't actually know how helpful this tip is bc I brought this up to my partner (RE: Hearing the character's exact voice in your head as you write) and they said this isn't really something people do, so I'm not sure if I'm alone in that technique or not....? (also sorry Mr Simmons but a lot of your movies are d o g s h i t! So, suffer through them as much as you can for the sake of research. Whiplash isn't in the bad pile though btw, it's one of the greatest movies ever made. Just watch that 14 times in a row until you can quote the entire thing by heart. Or use Portal/Cave Johnson audio. Much more fun.)

Know the Ford you're writing. Is he younger, likely at college? Is he research-era? Is he post-portal? Ford presents (at least to me) as multiple different versions of himself over the course of his journey. He has fundamental traits but the degree to which he displays/shows/acknowledges/applies them varies dramatically depending on where he is in life and who he's around.

Balance him. He's strict and sharp and sometimes rude, but not so much that he's devoid of all other emotion. He's funny and he likes to get silly sometimes. We're literally told that exact thing (quite a lot actually) in the canon material. This is especially relevant if you're writing post portal Ford or pre-Bill/pre-obsession-with-work Ford. Again, he isn't all the time but he definitely is more than people give him credit for. If you're writing Ford during his Bill obsession stage then he's going to be erratic and harmful, more than anything to himself. He's going to be acting poorly because he isn't in his right mind, so extend some sympathy to the guy. You don't have to make it okay that he might be lashing out and hurting others, obviously, but there's a reason behind why he's acting like that. He isn't just 'a bad guy'.

However, he is also an asshole sometimes. Everyone can be. He's very diverse. This diva HAS the range! (He experiences the world in a very different way to most other people, I think, so his behaviour can be perceived as difficult to 'normal' people).

Ford is never one emotion at a time. No character is. If he's angry, there's going to be a reason behind that anger and then several emotions behind that reason. Is he telling someone off because he's intrinsically and irrevocably an asshole? No! He might have been afraid of them getting hurt and snapped at them, and the fear shows as anger. Maybe he's frustrated with them and doesn't know how to appropriately address that frustration. There's always a reason.

If he is just being a bit of jerk, because that's plausible, it's not going to be the case that every time he does something that can be perceived as being jerky, that he is being so.

He is very full of love. For his family, for his work, for his friends, for his object of affection (these tips apply to him in general, if you're writing ship stuff or reader stuff or gen). He is full to the brim with it, he just struggles to identify it, to know how to show it and how to express it.

I think that for Ford, acknowledging his feelings is a bit like touching a hot stove: He recoils from them immediately because feelings are painful and intense, and they're hard to handle. They hurt and he's going to be loathe to keep touching the thing that reliably burns him every time he goes near it. Ford isn't very good at being bad at things and he IS bad at emotions. Really bad. They're not finite or logical or able to be proven like science is. They're artistic and available for interpretation, and they're often nonsensical. That's hard to get your head around for someone who likes to view everything from a black and white perspective.

If you think he has a disorder (autism, BPD, NPD, HPD, whatever) and you yourself don't have that thing, then RESEARCH THE FUCKING THING! Ask people who do have it for advice. Treat it with respect. People that have 'negative traits' from these types of disorders (and believe me, people do think you're awful if you have a personality disorder or autism) are not inherently bad people and them enacting their symptoms doesn't make them evil, provided they know how to acknowledge their wrongdoing post behaviour and try to do better in the future. If I split on someone and act out by starting a fight, it is my responsibility to return to that person and apologise for inappropriately starting a fight once I've cooled down. It can be hard, it can be done through gritted teeth, it will be uncomfortable, but it must still be done because I'm an adult. Obviously, when it comes to things like this, we're always working on a sliding scale because people with complex mental health issues don't always know they've made a mistake so they may not feel like they need to apologise/may not even know that they've done something wrong if they're in a really bad episode. That's difficult to get right however, and I would not recommend writing intensely detailed stuff like that unless you're very used to/accustomed to the disorder.

HE KNOWS HOW TO SAY SORRY and he knows when he's fucked up. This is a skill he's learnt better over time. I think it would be most relevant to use if you're writing him post-portal, though. I don't think this was a skill he had when he was younger/pre-portal and if he did apologise, it was something that had to be really dragged out of him.

Show that he's tender and capable of empathy. I think it was only really during his obsessional years that he locked off that part of his brain, and even then it was more out of pure delusion and trauma/self-protection than it was an inherent drive to be evil. He's never been evil, just misguided, betrayed and a bit of an ass at times.

He does more through action than through talk. In comparison to Stan, who is all mouth and uses verbal communication frequently, Ford is more physically inclined. He tries to be very esoteric but he gives away a lot in his behaviour instead of talking. I don't actually think he knows he does this and that's why he thinks he's super mysterious.

If you're stuck on a scene, play it out as him. Not yourself. It's not so much how am I going to do this, but how is Ford going to do this? What do you think Ford would do in that moment, according to what you've seen him do in the show?

Don't be afraid to make your own Ford, to a certain extent. I'm not writing about a strictly canon!Ford. He's informed by canon for the most part, but he's also my little barbie to dress up and be silly with. I don't necessarily have to solely make him do what I think his canon counterpart would do. I think canon!Ford is aroace/just not interested in romantic or sexual relationships. I don't think he has interest in much of the stuff that my fanon!Ford does, but this is fantasy land and Ford isn't real so we can do whatever we want. He'll feel more real if you give him his canon traits and then add some of your own spices to the recipe on top.

Be nice to him. This isn't advice, I'm just begging you LMAO. When you're writing him talk about his science stuff or whatever, have your other character (reader, I presume?) be engaged and happy to listen to him. I wouldn't be interested in someone who annoyed me with their passions, so don't write it as though he pisses you off because the audience can tell if you don't actually like him that much. They will pick up on how you really feel about a character as the author unless you're an excellent liar and it's really hard to actually lie like that and retain a sense of genuine love in your story. Just treat him with love and care. Treat any character with it.

Okay anyway WHEW that's a lot! Sorry. These are just things that I do and they're not my view of how to write Ford 'correctly' or anything, they're just what I find helps me characterise him for my fics. I'm sure plenty of people would disagree with my interpretation and that's fine, we're all receptive to art in different ways so there's not really a 'right' way to be for the most part. Just listen to what he tells you/shows you about himself and the way in which other characters speak about him truthfully.

Hi handsome. Is there anyway I can ask for some advice? As a fellow bkdk shipper and bakugou lover. So I am trying to write a bakugou x reader, with a bakugou who’s all-knowing reluctant closes friend is Izuku. For storyline purposes (as my all knowing kind eyed friend for reader) and just for the length of time.

This almost seems like a silly ask. But how would you recommend, for me to build the relationship between reader and bakugou… to feel genuine and worthwhile and just as intense as a long time friend Izuku could be? Basically, I’m asking for advice on how to make an audience ship Bakugou with reader as opposed to his best friend who has a somewhat intense relationship with him already built into canon.

i dont find this ask silly at all! i think as an avid x reader and shipfic writer - this is actually a relatively understandable concern. you have to convince your audience that your y/n is also able to metaphorically compete for bkgs heart that canonly has other paths paved

in the situation for bakugou specifically, i think your y/n has to exhibit 2 things. mental strength and any sort of identifiable thing they care about. for bakugou as a character, there is nothing more important to him than respect. your reader, in some way, has to be able to earn his genuine respect. this is NOT limited to physical strength. the nature of bakugous development is that he deeply recognizes strength in all walks of life.

make your reader formidable. maybe they stand up for justice. maybe they’re especially good at handling conflicting and mediating. maybe they’re competent at their job. maybe they’re very good at something trivial like making tea but they dont let bakugou talk down on their hobby. you have a lot of options but i think representing that bakugou values reader insight and respects their viewpoint will lend itself to them being compelling.

additionally, when i say mental strength, i think reader needs to be able to reconcile with bakugou easily. this is one of those bkdk things they dont have which is an ability to communicate clearly lol. this doesn’t mean reader has to have an easy going or even patient temperament - but that reader can say sorry and have just a sliver more of emotional intelligence than bakugou because while i think hes grown a lot, romantic feelings probably turn him into a complete baby.

a reader who is willing to hash things out even at the sake of fighting is very important contrast. while i am a bkdk enthusiast, i think them having a romantic relationship canonly would take a shit ton of effort and therapy. they are deeply intricate but thats a double edged sword. you can play off those gaps.

the most important thing is that you understand bakugou is a character with a natural intensity and presence. this makes him very versatile in the sense he doesn’t discriminate other people at all based on shallow shit. if you want to write a compelling love story with him - any partner can work as long as you keep who he is in mind. anyone who can stand as his equal can be a compelling love interest.

the other one ive posted about is something me and ben (catgirlrepublic) have worked on together its not at all close to done or anything but it's. a fun little crossover. Between jdate and my fuckinuhm. Original characters story “Untitled Villains Project”. the sketches of the comic version ive started is actually my pinned post 👉👈 its like the first chunk of the story, i think half of part 1? yea.

Tldr john fucking Somehow is able t oget into contact with a certain curious scientist from another reality who’d just love to study the Soy Sauce, most certainly not for her own nefarious purposes

John and Dave meet up with the scientist, her name is Boss, and her lab assistant, Toxic, and after a bit of a preliminary Vibe Check where john determines her trustworthy (which Dave doesnt agree with,) the two agree to be taken to the world UVP is set in. from there they stay in Boss’s lab (big old fucking abandoned military lab). John and Toxic are fast friends due to mutual love-of-chaos. John n Dave get to fuckin, camp out on an air mattress.

The day after they arrive, the two get split up, not exactly intentionally; big plot points of UVP are liek. Fueled by Boss sending Toxic to go fetch her “research materials,” which are usually important artifacts

Fuckin side note i guess i have to explain my dumb bullshit: Boss’s, uh, field of expertise so to speak is actually fckin, basically the scientific study of magic and superpowers n shit like that. This shit’s all real in that world. Toxic’s got fuckin superpowers, so do 4 other main characters, whatever. It’s got a bit to do with spirituality, iss Boss’s hypothesis. So she has Toxic fetch important artifacts that might have “energies” to them. The thing is actually way more fuckin complictated than that, this is just Boss’s initial hypothesis.

Motherfucking anyways. So Boss gives Toxic a job to do, and John get excited about how Cool that sounds, and ends up going with Toxic, leaving Boss and Dave alone. Neither is thrilled about this. But Dave and Boss get to have a bit of conversation (while Toxic and John are off bonding and having a good time) and come to a… mutual grudging understanding of some kind. They still dont like each other though lmao

Theres gonna be deeper shit going on but we havent sorted it out yet/tbh havent like Written For It in a while but i still like thinking about it a lot lol

Also pretty sure our endgame is john and dave steal toxic and bring them back with em lmao boss is kind of not nice and toxic would most certainly be better off in Undisclosed. Actually theyd fucking love it. Theyd become a local cryptid im sure. Undisclosed’s mothman is a teleporting spike baby.

Quick briefing on my fuckinuh. Original character story, this one doesnt have a name (yet? Idk lol my work never actually goes anywhere sso who gives a shit). It centers around two grim reapers, Red (26, bi woman) and Blue (22, aroace agender asshole). In this reality or whatever, grim reapers function kind of like low-level office workers. They get told who’s going to die + when by some middle-management types, and upper management only involve themselves when punishment needs to be doled out. These Higher-Ups can be seen as analogous to Korrok; they’re decidedly not human, never were, and fucking terrifyingly powerful. Additionally, grim reapers are sort of .. designed to be “background noise” people. In reality theyre supernatural beings and, uh, look Real Fuckin Weird (the whole deal has a neon aesthetic im terrible at drawing uwu) but most humans just perceive them like extras in a movie. A body’s there but the camera’s not focused on it.

To the narrative: the shit starts when Red n Blue get relocated to Undisclosed. Relocation is something that just happens every now and then to reapers; they usually work in teams, but they get split up into different cities to avoid any strong bonds forming (a counter-union strategy from the Higher-Ups).

Red, Blue, John and Dave end up running into each other for the first time in a McDonalds where John n Dave are getting some 4am “hey, we just survived another horrific monster fight” celebration burgers. John and Dave are the only two people who can see how… strange Red and Blue are. Nobody else notices.

John unintentionally pisses Blue off, leading to Blue whacking him upside the head with a dildo bat. They all four get kicked out of McDonald’s. Dave and Red both are less than thrilled

Blue and John end up resolving their differences, somehow. Red and Dave briefly bond over their dumbass best friends being, well, dumbasses. They all part ways amicably.

somehow-or-other (idk yet) they end up running into each other a few more times, and eventually john invites them over to his place, and the four (plus Amy now!) get to know each other a little better

while there, Blue gets a text about some guy who's gonna die and John offers to drive them to where that's gonna go down. they take him up on the offer and get to have a bit of one-on-one conversation

after that ordeal though Blue has had Enough of people and bails, leaving John to head home alone

theres a sort of mirror-development going on with the five of em. Red, John, and Amy would all like everyone to get along, though theyre a bit tentative about it (John moreso than the other two, actually, jsut cause. well Red n Blue could still be Sauce Monsters). Dave and Blue on the other hand do Not like people enough for this shit, and Dave's not unconvinced theyre Sauce Monsters. he will not trust them until proven he should

the story's kinda nebulous but i got an idea for some Shit going down that involves both Sauce Monsters and also the Higher-Ups to have some fuckin absolute chaos go down.

Dave transitioned post-high school and faked his death for it. People go missing in Undisclosed all the damned time, after all. He moved to the next city over, transitioned fully, then came back as a completely new man. Yes i know this doesnt exactly fit with the “everyone knows David from high school” thing alright, hush.

Anytime anyone brings up John’s old best friend (pre-transition Dave) John throws an entire fit like an overdramatic grieving widow. Full-on sobbing “why would you bring her up?! I miss her so much—” to the point that people just stop bringing up because Jesus Christ That Sure Is Uncomfortable KJHGFDS.

This is a scheme he and Dave came up with prior to Dave leaving, though Dave hadnt exactly anticipated John putting on this much of a performance about it— but it’s stopped Dave from ever having tto hear his deadname again, so hey.

Amy transitioned sometime in middle school/early high school. Her family was super supportive and loved her a ton and most people just know her as Amy. she was super shy her whole life really so. Yeah. people just dont think to bring it up lmao also i Feel Like big jim would absolutely wallop anyone who gave her trouble of any kind

John’s nonbinary (genderfluid specifically) and not exactly Interested in transitioning ? like hes fine with how he is. mostly.

he came out to Dave in high school but hes not out to anyone else exactly. Maybe his bandmates. Probably any other trans person in Undisclosed knows, too, cause theyre safe to tell lmao. Johns mostly a “he/him out of convenience” kinda nb who’s cool with any pronouns but does prefer they/them most. Dave and Amy use they/them when the trio are alone

Also this is a totally self-indulgent caveat that i think would be great, Dave’s actually agender but because he's transmasc and transitioned when he thought there were really only two options, and being Boy at least felt less weird than being Girl, he just kind of assumed he was a dude. It’s only through a lot of (like fucking years and years hes probably in his 30s/40s when he puts 2 and 2 together on this one) talks about gender with John that he realizes he actually feels like No Gender. Masc aesthetic with none gender.

Also Amy came out to Dave about being trans early on in them seeing each other and his response was to get very nervous before blurting out “me too” and then just being too embarrassed to talk about it for the rest of the day. by contrast when Amy comes out to John about it his response is to yell “EYYY ME TOO” and give her a big ol hug lmao

Johns an absolute troublemaker, Of Course. Hes wanted in several towns for absolutely stupid shit. Hes a loner who shows up, causes chaos, gets drunk, does some drugs, runs away if people get too mad at him

He definitely had the same kind of deal with the soy sauce as in canon— he was at some kind of party, somebody offered it, he took it cause why the fuck wouldnt he, now he can see monsters and shit

Hes kind of a mooch also. Like. dont let him stay in your barn man he’ll never fucking leave and drink all your booze.

He runs into Dave when they happen to just, cross paths in the same town. the bullshit John stirs up ends up involving Dave in a way that makes it seem like it's his fault too, and they both get run out of town

after that he just tags along after Dave. hes decided this guy's Cool he wants to stick around. Dave is pissed at first, but not enough to shoot him or anything, and eventually, John grows on him

Dave

Dave also is a loner but unlike John hes simply so fucking awkward and bad with people. He doesnt feel like he belongs anywhere so he just travels

He’s the stereotypical Lone Ranger tbh. He wanders from town to town, solving their problems, though hed deny its out of any moral obligation (it kinda is, a little bit, tbh. He does like feeling useful). He shows up, fixes things, leaves. He's kind of a legend but most people think he's hiding something dark. other people jsut know him as that guy who farted real loud in the middle of the saloon and promptly skipped town out of sheer embarrassment. you know how it goes with Dave

He ends up involved with the Soy Sauce when a snake (not Actually a snake,) bites him. The snake’s more like the wig-monsters, really. Anyway, it injects him with the soy sauce, he fucking trips balls in the middle of the desert, he can see monsters now

He runs into John and shit goes tits-up, as said, but they become traveling buddies after that. he'd never say so, but he's glad for the company, actually. it's nice. hes not used to companionship but he feels a strange kind of easiness hanging out with John....

not sure how the Monster Dave concept will like fit in to this reality but like. trust me i want it in here. I'll Figure It Out.

Amy’s been living in a town John and Dave end up passing through and she is very curious about these two new Handsome Strangers who claim to fight monsters and just kinda. Persistently tags along til they let her join for real

Her family’s all dead, unfortunately, just like in canon, and she’s been living alone for a few years before meeting John n Dave. she had nothing left in that town to stay for, she'd been fantasizing about escaping on wild adventures for a long time and this felt a little like a dream come true. (Dave still gives her a spiel about how Difficult it is, but really, her fantasies were pretty grounded-in-reality already. i jsut think thats how she is, yknow?)

Shes the first person to react to the whole “we see monsters” shit with a kind of “oh, okay. neat” kind of response lmao

John and Dave fix whatever the fuck is up with her town (maybe that’s where the Korrok shit can fit, who knows) and Amy ends up being integral to that. After, she insists they take her with them because “they need her now” and Dave just cant really say no. John too is very much "the more the merrier!" and hes actually glad to have another person along he loves people lmao

At the start she has long hair but after she joins them she chops it short with a knife for convenience

also she still is an amputee. justt. idk. it was a wagon/stagecoach accident rather than a car accident lmao. just to clarify since i hadnt mentioned it, i wouldnt rob her of her ghost hand or yknow. all of the significance to her character that Missing A Hand has. although also now im going to have to research what was used as painkillers way-back-when, but im betting shes still got, like, her pain pills, they probably had those, maybe i wouldnt have to try too hard there. old timey medicine could be WACK though,

Hes also a wanderer, but he ended up at the same town john and dave met in, at that same time, and starts following them after, already aware of who/what they are.

He keeps his face covered 24/7. actually he covers a Majority of his self for reasons. kinda want him to be a slightly more horrifying Worm Entity rather than human idk,

do you write in silence or with music or the tv in the background? how do you come up with your ideas? is there something you want to write but feel unprepared for?

mm, it depends! sometimes i need silence. sometimes i need noise. usually if i'm writing smth outside of my comfort zone i need silence to focus. but if i'm writing in my comfort zone, noise doesn't bother me, can even be an asset.

ideas, oof. my problem with ideas is that i can't turn them off. errything gives me ideas!! you've given me a lot of ideas! my ideas give me other ideas!! even playing 'guess that smell' at work gives me ideas!! figuring out the ideas is harder than having the ideas. that involves navigation from point a to point b.

is there smth i want to write but feel unprepared for? ur rly getting my gears going today, pal. but yeah, defo. the one wip of mine is taking forever bc it involves going outside of my comfort zone so, no grief, no murder, no gore. (platonic) relationship building that takes place over a period long enough that it hopefully feels organic and not rushed. it also involves me having to read more on the st wiki and potentially even having to read the longer pages my attention span balks at. i still flirt with the scrapped ideas of susan's adventure with the ambien walrus and billy's blackout journey from outsider pov, even tho it's like no! no brain, stop! we can't do that!! i'm not prepared for those for all the reasons i babbled abt when asked abt axecution. and ambien being paradoxical to the 80s, obvi.

had one idea for the eep 'verse of susan going to an inmate-led support group for incarcerated women against abuse bc the data in this study suggests doing so was notably helpful for many of them and the group at this particular facility consisted of a significant number of women who'd killed their abusers. and. well. it'd rly be the only way for susan to deepen her insight on what max went through prior to/during the final event bc it's not smth they can openly talk abt, obvi. not deeply, not with the short amnt of time they get to see each other, not in profound detail while being watched or having recorded phone calls. nobody can know. it's smth max carries by herself, rly. i only briefly skimmed over the lumax in recidivism bc yeh, me n romance don't rly mesh. but just for the record, he *doesn't* actually know. so this would be a way for susan to gain more insight into what max went through in the context of the final event, some more beyond the aftermath she saw and the (1) intentionally vague conversation they did have abt it in recidivism. okay i'm sorry i'm rambling now but that one i feel unprepared to write bc that is when i would achieve crack crossover level 9000+ bc it would involve digging through a ton of misc media to find enough characters to put in a support group. whew, sorry that got so long. 😅

((For all the shit I give the epilogues, it does have its moments. Specifically highlighting this bit of dialogue here: ROXY: you think you choice mattered so much that no one elses could measure up? ROXY: n then what ROXY: did u get what u wanted? ROXY: did your life end and the points got tallied and you came out on top or like what? ROXY: still p much seems like were movin to me ROXY: and you sure dont seem like ur winnin so wheres all this good shit you got that you gotta go around handin out apologies for? ROXY: also damn dude while were at it!! ROXY: u forgot to actually say sorry in that apology! JOHN: no, i didn’t — i just meant... JOHN: i’m sorry for fucking up your life, or making it not— ROXY: i like my life!!! ROXY: i mean it aint perf and i got my share of fuckups n mistakes in there but you dont get to tell me its fucked up ROXY: or that it isnt real or somethin ROXY: its mine!

First: criticism. The writers wield this little section like a crude cudgel. They use it to underscore the weight of ‘canon’. This is the ‘candy’ timeline, so it supposedly ‘weighs less’ than the ‘meat’ timeline, but its characters still have meaningful thoughts and emotions. Here, John supposedly makes a choice that supposedly invalidates a bunch of supposedly important events, and Roxy here blows it all out of the water by claiming she made these choices too and that part of the blame rests with her in the direction her life has taken... which is total dogshit used to justify a bunch of really overt swings in character thematic. Continued here: ROXY: you wished i was one way the whole time we were married ROXY: but i wasnt ROXY: but now that youre all convinced ur the only real boy in a crowd o puppets ROXY: here i am bein me just like you ordered only i did it without your help ROXY: widen ur zoom my man!! ROXY: im not actin like this now because you want me to or bc you dont want me to ROXY: i was bad at standin up for myself then and im learnin to be good at it now ROXY: ive got my own self actualization train ROXY: ur just pullin in to one of my many roxy figures some shit out stations right as i built it JOHN: but... JOHN: you were never like that before i... ROXY: dude ROXY: where tf do u get off trying to decide what is or isnt me being “like me” enuff ROXY: do u think ppl stay the same their whole damn lives or what JOHN: you’ve really never felt like anything about our lives here was... off? ROXY: off from what exactly?? JOHN: the way things should be? ROXY: what does that mean???

Roxy here argues that there is no ‘one right way to be’ as a half-baked wink to the audience that all this gross mischaracterization is intentional and that it diverges so grossly from the established character arcs in order to demonstrate that nothing is set in stone. While technically true, this also makes for some pretty terrible writing.

Roxy was a caring, almost too involved individual before the epilogues. Her ditching Calliope for John and this messy marriage business and just letting Jane warp into a full-blown dictator makes no sense, even couched within the idea that ‘characters change.’ Yes, characters change, but there’s generally a reason for it! And not a shitty deus ex machina reason such as ‘John makes a choice!’ What even fucking happened to Candy Calliope anyway? She just fucked off somewhere? How do you sincerely throw a character away like that and then have the gall to wink at the audience as if what you’ve done makes sense? Changes in character are generally brought on by catalysts in their life! Trauma, joy, death, new settings, new ideas, events! Not... John deciding to eat a plate full of candy. If we had insight into Roxy’s thought process behind ditching Calliope and marrying John and having a kid on a whim, this might be saved. But we don’t even get a glimpse. Instead we’re pawned this shitty excuse for a very glaring departure from what we knew about Roxy. Character development is just that -- development! As in to become more complex or advanced! Roxy has made wrong choices in the past, yes, but her reasoning was laid bare in such a way that those wrong choices made sense for her to make. She then makes different decisions later because she learned from her wrong decisions. This is development! Her character is learning and changing behavior because of the things they’ve been through! Her reasoning for this awful series of bad choices is just... not explained, despite going against a ton of shit Roxy has learned. It’s slipshod. It’s careless. It’s sacrificing the tree to showcase the topper. The audience isn’t vested in this Roxy because she’s seemingly robbed of her agency, and then they’re trying to foist this idea that she somehow still has agency on us as if they didn’t preface the entire timeline with ‘well, all this shit is going to happen because we decided it and no other reason!’

Now: the praise. This bit of dialogue has huge implications for ‘non-canon’ dynamic. No, not ‘non-canon’ in the cheeky way the epilogues and HS2 claim to be ‘non-canon.’ I mean ‘non-canon’ as in this blog that I run and all the blogs that you, the reader, are writing and reading as well. Roxy’s insistence that characters change can swing the other way, too. Characters can develop in bad ways as well! Not bad as in bad writing, but bad as in flawed character reasoning! Suppose what Roxy learned from her time in HS1 was that most things can be solved by unvoiding fix-all solutions into existence? Then we might be able to see her trying to fix the human-troll-population issue by just... making more planets! Or unvoiding some sort of device trolls could wear that inhibits hivemind tendencies! That would be interesting and perhaps morbid to write about!! It would at least track with her past experiences!!! Or better yet: perhaps she actually takes a side against Jane (as she has done in the past) but instead of using their friendship as the moral plating, she went right into sarcastic arguments FOR eugenics to demonstrate how bigoted Jane was being? That’s a very Roxy thing to do!! She could have made the argument that if trolls need eugenics to suppress their violent tendencies, then so should humans! Having read about the Condesce’s eugenic practices during her formative years, this should have been fairly obvious to Roxy that what Jane was suggesting was from the same playbook, at least.

But I digress. What this bit of dialogue really does is give credence to us, the audience, in exploring these stories we’re currently writing for these pre-established characters. YES, canon Rose likely didn’t dabble so thoroughly in game magics, and she likely didn’t have as much anxiety as my Rose. BUT I prefaced my Rose’s current state with a bunch of events that make sense! She missed her rendezvous with the others! She had to float adrift, alone in a broadcast satellite, for nigh on a decade! She’s had a long fucking time to develop all these anxieties and mental illness because that’s what happens when you’re isolated for years! It is a tool I use to express my own anxieties and explore how someone might somehow overcome them! And most importantly: she’s still Rose. She has unprocessed mother issues. She cherishes her friends. She’s more than a bit gay. And she knows when the meta is using her and when it’s not, because she’s had a traumatic experience being used by Doc Scratch as a plot device. And that trauma isn’t going away (well, unless she gets therapy, but given the setting we’re writing... not likely), so she’s going to be overly cautious when it comes to big decisions involving her friends. What she’s not going to do is suddenly abandon everyone she’s departed from because uhhh Jade ate some bread the wrong way or whatever.

tl;dr: What this section of the epilogues/HS2 (well, really just this bit with Harry Andersen, Tavros, and Vrissy that is somehow more interesting than virtually EVERY OTHER PART of HS2) is telling us, the audience, is that it is good to diverge from canon. Non-canon characters will still have very real feelings and face very real consequences for their actions. Just... don’t do it like they did it. All these characters we’re writing for and all these events we’re writing around them... they’re valid! They matter! Just because they’re not canon doesn’t mean others are willing and wanting to read them, and that makes them important! Unfortunately, this also means the epilogues/HS2 are important, but let’s ignore that for now. What I’m trying to say is: be indulgent! Write the things you want to write! As long as they’re well-reasoned, they’re good writing! Characters can be overpowered! They can be cliche! They can have teenage problems as an adult! Just... give them a good reason.))

What  is  your  OTP  for  your  character?

Kiribaku!!!  I started off bakudeku but in the back of my mind I always thought kiribaku was flawless even though it was blasphemy problematic to think so.  They’re just so cute and wonderful together like Bakugou benefits from Kirishima being the sunshine boy, positive with the social aspects he lacks but can also handle when he gets intense and Kirishima benefits from Bakugou always inspiring him to work hard and do his best plus isn’t phased by his hardassness.  They cover each others weak spots and it completes me AND A CUTE HEALTHY RELATIONSHIP LIKE THAT IS IN NO WAY BORING.

What  are  you  willing  to  write  when  it  comes  to  shipping?

I don’t have any limits cause I know this is fiction and I’m just here to have a fun time.  I guess I hate the idea of planning a ship with someone I haven’t threaded much with to see if there’s chemistry.... but I like exploring even toxic ships if I have the chance.  But like Red, I hate character death memes or anything like that, I will start crying and be very sad cause there’s plenty of ways to do angst without killing a character or like maiming them, like the amputee au’s and stuff make me depressed, even bakugou being fully deaf because of his quirk hurts me, I just hate it when people are hurting on a certain level because of my crazy empathy.

How  large  does  the  age  gap  have  to  be  to  make  it  uncomfortable?

I know this is a #problematic opinion, but firstly age gaps between adults irl or in fiction don’t bother me like a grandma with a 28 year old, that’s not my job to say stop even if I don’t get it.  In real life, if you’re older and trying to get with a teen or kid, you sicken me, get out, but in shipping and writing I don’t see the problem shipping say a 17 year old with a 21 year old because it’s not a real mind at stake of being damaged, it’s a character you’re portraying or making as healthy or unhealthy as you want so if both muns are adults, you’re just having fun doing a ship just like you have fun making a headcanon or doing a really dark murderous verse.  It’s fiction and as long as you understand there’s a power dynamic that comes with that instead of saying it’s a perfect or flawless ship, then yeah.  You just gotta understand how that would legit work and know the consequences of it.  Doesn’t mean I always like it but I’m not going to say HOW DARE YOU EVEN T H I N K OF DOING THAT, I AM A THOUGHT POLICE, like it’s really no problem what you write as long as you’re writing with a fellow adult and portraying things in a non-glorifying way.  Doesn’t mean I’ll do it and I really don’t wanna do any age gap things on this blog but you get my point.

Are  you  selective  when  shipping?

Nahhh, it just seems like I am because I like working up a lot of chemistry with another muse to make sure they’re on the same wavelength before I feel it and start thinking of it as a ship.  With someone like Kirishima, he’s real easy to ship and can get along with anyone opposed to a character with a more difficult personality.  I try to default all my muses as bi because I am but with all the gay coding, I’d be a fool to ignore it even if I still think a m/f ship could still happen with extreme extreme work and chemistry.

How  far  do  steamy  moments  have  to  go  before  they’re  considered  NSFW?

The moment you start touching the groin parts is where it gets NSFW in my book.  But before that point with like intense makeout and rubbing, I’ll tag things nsfw? just to be safe, if that ever happened.

Who  are  the  other  characters  you  ship  your  character  with?

I came into this fandom thinking Todokiri was cute af, kinda did that a bit with my ex and think they’re very adorable, like a different version of tod/odeku and I think Kiri would do that boy right, we also did shinkiri for a very brief time AND I HIGHLY LOVED THAT.  Uhhh... but some crack ships that might be cute are him with sero or tokoyami... shoji... tetsu and sen too, those boys need more lovin. 

Does  one  have  to  ask  to  ship  with  you?

Nope, normally I’m pretty transparent if my muse is starting to develop feelings and if that isn’t obvious enough it’ll be in the tags me giving that extra insight.  I like working up to that point instead of just chatting ooc asking each other how the ship would work out and stuff, I’d rather experience it is what I mean.  If I feel like it’s not consensual though and one sided crushes make anyone uncomfy, I’ll stop straight away, just reply and in the tags go ‘nah man’ and it’s fine.  But yeah, to me ships can be obvious coming so no need to specifically ask me about it.

How  often  do  you  like  to  ship?

I loooove shipping but I prefer the work it takes to even get to that point is what I figure.  I like development threads, and if they lead to ships, AWESOME!  And if not, that’s cool too!  It really just depends on the ic and ooc chemistry.

A little more on the obsessed side, which is funny because I’VE ONLY DONE KIRIBAKU.... I think it’s cause most of the fandom dodges me for being problematic, not that I don’t block their intolerant asses anyhow. Sorry if you came here expecting me to be mainstream...

Are  you  multi-ship?

Yes, I like being multiship cause it gives me a chance to explore different dynamics and that’s a ton of fun for me.  I used to want one ship per character but.... the first baku I ever loved already had a kiri so I had to throw that out the window.  DON’T REGRET IT THOUGH BECAUSE I MET ANOTHER FANTASTIC BAKU TOO, U KNOW WHO U ARE.

What  are  your  favorite  ships  in  your  current  fandom?

Kiribaku obvsly, momojirou is super cute.... deku x not being totally op due to bad writing is a great ship.  Being in the fandom has given me a lot more notp’s than otp’s lolol....

Finally,  how  does  one  ship  with  you?

Just subtle hinting as we thread leads to maybe a few fluffy memes or if you want a darker ship then we can develop an AU, it’s really not too hard cause denying a ship is very unlikely to happen unless the chemistry in our threads is too weak or if I just don’t see two characters as a thing for one reason or another.

I don’t know what this is, but I wanted to attempt some fluff. It’ll suck because I cannot relationship. Also gain some insight into John and Y/N’s friendship.

Sherlock is out of character, but bite me lolol~

His hands quickly grasped the bottom of my shirt, swiftly pulling over my head and tossing it to the side.

“Bedroom?” I asked, pulling away for a moment as Sherlock nodded, leaping up making me wrap my legs around his waist to prevent myself falling.

“Bedroom” He smirked, quickly walking to his bedroom.

“You know, I never believed in love” I said, smiling as Sherlock gently ran his hand up and down my arm.

“Really?” He asked, gazing up at me, looking extremely relaxed. Something I wasn’t used to seeing on Sherlock.

“Well, I always thought it was stupid, people do stupid things because of it. But now I understand why it’s so addicting” I said, watching as Sherlock smiled, gently pressing his lips against mine.

“I’m glad you think that” He sighed happily.

“I like seeing you like this” I admitted, looking over at him, his hair messy but he looked completely content. Like he wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.

“My parents would constantly beg me and Mycroft to at least try and get a girlfriend or boyfriend, they would tell us how much they wanted grandkids and how much they wanted to see us happy” Sherlock smiled, grabbing my hand and interlocking our fingers.

“Well, I hope I make you happy” I said, squeezing his hand lightly.

“More than.” He began.

“I know it doesn’t seem like it, that I don’t show it. But you do” He continued, placing his spare hand on my cheek, running his thumb across.

“I don’t mind, Sherlock. I’m not good at this relationship thing” I smiled, making him chuckled, moving my hand into his hair.

“Me either” He admitted, a slight smile on his face, closing his eyes for a moment.

“We can work this out together” I said, gently running my hand through his curls, smiling as he hummed in appreciation.

“What time do you think John will be back?” I asked, my hand still running through his hair.

“Soon, she’s going to break up with him” He said casually, making me laugh.

We both saw this coming, it always happens.

John should probably stop dating, well attempting.

As is on cue, the door to 221B was thrown open, making me and Sherlock jump up and quickly throw on our clothes, praying John wouldn’t knock on the door.

“Then she broke up with me” John explained, sighing dramatically while I tried not to laugh.

Even though my friend was feelings slightly down, it was still amusing.

“Why don’t you try dating a guy?” I joked, taking a sip of my tea, waiting for Johns reaction.

“I am not gay!” John exclaimed, pointing his finger at me making me chuckle.

“Bi?”

John dramatically threw his hands in the air, making me laugh even more.

“So, what did you two do while I was getting dumped?” He sighed, looking between Sherlock and me.

Immediately, I felt the blood rush up into my cheeks, a dark red blush covering my cheeks as I sank further into the couch.

“Well, that explains why your clothes are all rumpled” He chuckled, looking at our clothes.

“I’m gonna go to the motel, I have things to do.” I shrugged, grabbing my jacket from the couch.

“You know the offer still stands, for you to stay here I mean” John said, as I threw on my shoes.

“I’ve already overstayed my welcome” I laughed, tying my laces then standing up.

“You’re seeing someone that lives here, I’m pretty sure you can’t overstay your welcome” Sherlock interrupted.

“I suppose” I shrugged, laying back down on the couch.

“Okay then, I’m sleeping here” I chuckled, dangling my feet off the edge of the couch, my shoes still on.

“I still have things to do though” I sighed, remembering that I need to go and check on Ava, see if she got picked up.

“Like what?” John asked, looking at Sherlock while he walked into the kitchen, probably to check on his latest experiment.

“Go see if Ava got bailed out” I chuckled, shaking my head at our drunken antics.

“Over there” Ava yelled, pointing at a shadow on the wall.

Gasping, the two of us ran towards the shadow, stumbling every step.

“Ghosties?” I called, excited to see some ghosts.

“Who ya gonna call?” Ava sang, leaning against the wall for support.

“Ghostbusters!” The two of us screamed, sprinting towards the shadow.

“We were gonna do something today too, I think” I shrugged, pulling out my phone to text Ava.

Did you get out?

Smiling to myself, I looked over at John.

He didn’t seem too upset over the break up. In fact, he seemed slightly relieved.

My phone buzzed a few moments later, alerting me of a text.

Thankfully, haha :). Coffee?

After reading her text, I immediately jumped up and made sure I had my jacket, keys and money.

“Going out, don’t know when I’ll be back” I smiled, running down the steps to leave the flat, not waiting for a reply.

“You look awful” I laughed, sitting opposite Ava in a local coffee shop.

It was run by a young woman called, Jaehee.

She was nice and would sometimes talk to us on her breaks. Sometimes, when she’s stressed I help out. She gives me free coffee too, which is a bonus.

“I love you too Ava groaned, rubbing her temples.

“Why did we drink so much? I’m still hungover a day later” She chuckled, taking a sip of her coffee, handing me mine.

“It just happened. We shouldn’t go out together” I laughed, gently blowing on my tea/coffee.

“Agreed” She smiled, her face suddenly paling.

“What wrong?” I asked, concerned.

“I think I’m gonna be sick” She said, suddenly rushing to the toilet, me following her.

As soon as she reached the toilets, she fell to the floor, throwing up whatever she had ate this morning while I pulled her hair back.

We stayed like this for a few minutes, before she had emptied her entire stomach.

“You okay?” I asked, handing her a piece of tissue to wipe her mouth.

She nodded, weakly, standing up and leaning against the stalls door.

“What’s going on? What happened?” I asked, worried about my friend.

“I was fine one minute, then the smell of coffee made me feel extremely sick” She sighed, rubbing her watery eyes with her fingers.

“Okay, weird question. When did you last have sex?” I asked, watching the blush rise quickly onto her cheeks.

“You don’t think…” She began, trailing off before she could finish, but of course I knew what she meant.

“Only one way to find out” I said, helping her stand up straight, taking her outside to get a cab.

“We’ve got fifteen different ones, how are we gonna do this?” I asked, pulling out all the pregnancy tests.

We weren’t too sure which ones were the best, so we just grabbed a ton.

“You just pee on them, right?” She asked, pacing nervously around the room. I nodded, watching her closely.

She looks, absolutely terrified.

“Okay, pass three” She said, holding out her hand.

I grabbed three from the pile, handing her them and watching her head into the bathroom.

We didn’t know where to go, so we ended up back at the motel I was staying at.

She came out a second later, placing the three tests upside down on the dresser opposite the bed, before sitting beside me.

“What if it’s positive?” She asked, biting her finger nails, a nervous habit of hers.

“I don’t know, you’ll have to talk to Harry. After all, it’s your decision” I sighed, running a hand through my hair.

The two of us sat in silence for a moment, before my phone beeped.

It was a text from Sherlock.

‘Case, we need you’

I sighed to myself, quickly typing out a reply before checking the time on my phone.

‘Sorry, I’ve got something on’

I quickly got a reply, with only forty-five seconds remaining.

‘More important than this?’

’Sort of, I’ll explain later’

Soon after I sent the text, the timer went off.

“Now or never, I suppose” I said, standing up and walking over to the dresser.

“Can you do it? I can’t, I can’t look” She said, tugging on her dark red hair.

I nodded, picking up each test and turning them over.

They all said positive.

“Positive. You’re gonna have a baby, Ava” I smiled, watching a large smile make its way onto her face.

“I didn’t think I’d be this happy” She said, a grin etched on her face as she enveloped me into a tight hug.

“I’m gonna be a mom!” She laughed, wrapping her arms around her stomach.

“I better be godmother” I warned, jokingly making her laugh.

“You’re gonna be a parent!”

It had been an hour since we had found out about Ava’s pregnancy. We had used every test, just to make sure before she decided to go home.

She decided she was going to think about it for a while, before telling Harry.

It was great, seeing how happy she was.

We had always talked about kids, her being sure she wanted them but me not so much. I’ve never been sure about kids. Being responsible for someone else’s life, that sounds stressful. I mean hell, I forget to feed myself sometimes, let alone a kid.

A smile was still on my lips as I walked into Baker Street.

“You look happy” John commented, as soon as I walked into the room.

“I am” I smiled, sitting down on the couch.

Sherlock was sitting in his usual seat, hands rested together in a praying like motion while his eyes were closed, obviously deep in thought. John was sat in his chair too, only he was typing up another blog post, probably about the latest case.

“How come?” He asked, glancing up from his laptop.

“Ava’s pregnant” I said, my smile becoming wider as I thought about it.

“You should tell her no trespassing now, then” John joked, placing his laptop onto the table in front of him.

“I’m just happy for her. She always wanted kids” I said, still feeling extremely happy.

“Do you?” John asked, turning to face me.

“Do I what?” I asked.

Obviously, I knew what he was going to ask, but I may as well try and delay it.

“Do you ever want kids?”

“I never really thought about it” I shrugged casually, not wanting to go into it.

“Why not?” John quizzed, wanting to talk about it.

Please stop, John.

“Never had a reason too, I guess” I said, hoping to put an end to the conversation as soon as possible.

I didn’t actually know why I didn’t want to talk about it. I guess it was because no one had ever shown an interest in me when Ava and I would talk about it. In fact, no one had ever really shown any interest in me at all. Only people looking for a hook up, or guys hoping to get into a relationship just get sex and someone willing to do anything.

I was still mad about that.

“No-one liked me enough for me to want them” I admitted, knowing he wasn’t going to stop until he got an answer.

A sad look made its way onto Johns face, before he glanced over at Sherlock who was still deep in thought.

“What about you? Do you want kids?” I asked, directing the attention away from me.

“Uh-yeah. Hopefully” He said, thinking for a moment.

“I just wanna meet someone who understands me, I guess” He shrugged, after thinking.

“Cheesy” I joked, making the conversation less serious.

“Tea?” I offered, standing up to make some tea after he said yes.

While I was stood in the kitchen, I began to think about what John said.

Do I actually want kids?

To be honest, I would kind of like kids. But it’s not just my decision, it would depend on my partner. Right now, that would-be Sherlock. But he doesn’t seem like the type to want kids.

I was suddenly brought out of my thoughts by the kettle whistling.

I sighed to myself, pushing my previous thoughts out of my mind, grabbing two mugs for John and me, knowing that Sherlock wouldn’t be out of his mind palace for a while.

“Here ya go” I smiled, handing John the mug, before moving to sit back on the couch, gently blowing on my drink.

“Do you remember that time we skipped class?” I asked, chuckling slightly as I remembered the memory.

“I can’t be bothered with calculus” I sighed, running a hand through my hair in frustration.

We had, had a substitute teacher for the past week and all she did was give us sheets of paper and some sums and told us to do them as fast as possible.

Too easy.

“I know! Let’s skip” I chuckled, gripping the right strap of my backpack. John thought for a moment, before shrugging.

“What the hell, sure” He agreed, shrugging.

“I have corrupted you, young man” I joked, looking around for any teachers before hopping the fence, shortly followed by John.

“Where are we going?” he asked, looking towards me making me blush.

“Pete’s burgers?” I asked, pointing towards the burger van that was always outside our school.

“We always get free burgers when we’re with you, so sure” He chuckled, wrapping his arms around my shoulder, making me blush even more.

“Hey, Pete” I smiled, walking up to the van, waving at Pete.

Pete and I became fast friends when I helped him find his cat after she went miss. He seemed like a tough guy that loved no one, but he was a softie on the inside.

“Y/N! How are you?” He grinned, turning his attention away from the shelves he was previously stocking.

“I’m great, how are you?” I replied, pulling out some cash from my bag.

“I’m good, Mittens is good too” He chuckled.

Mittens was his cat, she had white fur and black for around her paws, hence the name Mittens.

“So, what can I get you and your little boyfriend over there?” He asked, leaning over the counter between us.

My blush darkened even more. It seemed everyone knew about my crush on John except him. Or, maybe he did and he was being nice to me by pretending he didn’t know.

“I’ll have a burger, what about you, John?” I asked, brushing off the comment about John being my boyfriend.

“The same please” He smiled, checking his watch, obviously nervous about skipping class.

“Coming right up” Pete smiled, turning to start making John and I’s burgers.

We stood around for a few minutes, the three of us engaging in light conversation, waiting for our burgers.

“Here you go, two burgers” He smiled, handing us a burger each.

“How much?” I asked pulling out a ten-pound note.

“On the house. I gotta thank you” He chuckled, pointing to the sauce.

“You already thanked me, I feel guilty every time you give me something for free” I smiled, taking a bite of my burger.

“Well, I’m never gonna stop thanking you” He smiled, leaning over the counter again.

“Thanks’, Pete” I smiled, nodding.

“You kids behave. Also look out, your teacher is over there” He warned, pointing towards one of our teachers.

“Shit, hide!” I laughed, thanking Pete again as John and I ran away from the burger van and into a field.

“Do you think she saw us?” John panted, laughing.

“Probably” I laughed, looking through a bush to see her walking over.

“Go! Go! Go! She’s coming!” I said, pushing John so we could run into a forest.

John and I’s laughter echoed from the hollow trees as we sprinted through the forest, jumping over fallen branches and vines.

“Miss Y/S/N, Mr Watson” Mrs Smith’s voice bellowed, making me laugh even more.

“You’re such a bad influence, I swear” He called over his shoulder, still sprinting through the forest, Mrs Smith’s heels clicking behind us.

“She’s gonna fall” I snorted, looking behind to see her taking her heels off.

“Shit, she’s taking her heels off!” I screamed, taking off into a full sprint, John doing to same.

“This way!” John laughed, grabbing my upper arm and dragging me through a pathway towards a few trees.

“Climb!” He yelled, running towards a tree and climbing up.

“Shit” I muttered, grasping a branch and hoisting myself up until I reached the top.

Looking across, I saw John at the same height making the two of us laugh.

John raised his finger to his lips, quieting me when he pointed towards Mrs Smith who was below us, looking extremely confused.

“I swore they went this way” She mumbled, turning around and going back the way, she came.

Once we were sure she had left, we climbed down. Or at least, I attempted.

I got down two branches before one snapped and fell, me falling with it.

“Ow” I groaned, gripping my arm in pain.

“You alright?” John asked, helping me back onto my feet.

“I landed on my arm” I chuckled, wincing when I tried to move it.

“It might be broken” He sighed, gently taking it.

“Alright Dr. Watson calm down” I joked, wincing when he poked it.

“Broken, I think. You should get it checked out” He laughed, the two of us carefully walking through the woods to get back.

“You broke your arm by climbing” John chuckled, sipping his tea.

“The branch snapped!” I exclaimed, laughing quietly, not wanting to disturb Sherlock.

“Then there was the time with Adam” He chuckled, reminding me of the time we nearly got shot.

“I think its this way” My friend Adam said, pointing towards a farm.

“I don’t know, Ads. It looks like private property” I sighed, looking towards the place he pointed at.

It was a small farm, with a few animals in stables. A large house stood at the back and the smell of cow faeces[CC1]  was filling the air.

“What’s the worst that could happen?” I laughed, following Adam and John towards the family.

“The gates locked” John sighed, rattling the gate making the lock hit the metal fence.

“We’ll just climb. There’s probably a fence the other way around, but I can’t be bothered to walk around” Adam chuckled, lifting himself up and over the fence.

John and I looked at each other, shrugging before climbing over ourselves.

“Let’s go look at the cows” Adam said, walking towards the cows.

“Heya there, cow” Adam chuckled, rubbing the cows head.

I laughed at him, before moving to my own cow and doing the same, handing it some food that was on a table nearby.

“Oi!” I menacing voice yelled from behind us, making us spin round in fright.

About fifty feet away from us was a sweat man, around 40 holding a rifle and he did not look pleased.

“What did you do to my cows?” He snarled, taking the safety lock off the gun, slowly walking towards us.

“Nothing, we were just petting them” John said, worry evident on his face.

Heather’s Game Changers Cast Ranking/Analysis

My Absolute Faves:

1. SANDRA

Okay I can’t even describe how excited I am that Sandra is on this season. She’s my favourite survivor player ever and is the EPITOME of a game changer. Sandra delivers the perfect combination of strategy and entertainment for me and the survivor franchise should consider itself blessed that she agreed to return. As for her chances of going far, everything in me is saying she’s bound to be a premerge boot, but it’s queen changa! In pearl islands and heroes vs villains she was still screaming premerge boot but clearly we know how that turned out. I’m rooting for her above everyone else which is redundant to say when she’s already #1 on the list but... had to let that fact be known again.

2. TONY

I think I would say Tony is my third favourite survivor contestant ever (behind mother sandra ofc and Kim Spradlin). He’s crackedt out of his mind and it’s pure entertainment gold. I’m never not fascinated by trying to figure out the logic behind what Tony is doing. I don’t see how it would be possible for him to get far again sadly, but whatever happens I’m sure he’ll go out in a blaze of glory. Apparently he’s already been jumping out of bushes and whatnot at the pregame ponderosa like . .. . crackedt legends only.

3. CIRIE

Cirie really did THAT strategically in Panama and Micronesia. Unlike the other two legends I already talked about, I do see a good chance of Cirie going far in the game again. I haven’t watched Micronesia or Panama recently (and I lowkey forgot what panama was and typed casaya for the season name while making this post), so I don’t have a crisp memory of everything she did, but..basically I remember that I stanned it. The only thing I’m concerned with is her rivalry with Sandra or whatever their relationship could be called. I’m not gonna lie; when I heard that she said Sandra didn’t deserve to win either of her seasons, I was....disgusted. Tbh. That doesn’t take anything away from the fact that Cirie’s gameplay was everything but girl...don’t come for Sandra like that.

4. ANDREA

Andrea has really grown on me since she first played. I don’t think I had much of an opinion on her in redemption island because I really didn’t care for anybody in the cast at all dfsndjfndsj but in Caramoan I liked her! She gives me constant conspiratorial vibes which I need to really STAN a survivor contestant. I just think she needs to fix her social game a bit because strategically I do think Andrea has the capability to win. Other than that I just enjoy her presence on my TV. I don’t think she’ll be targeted for a while by anyone but dumbfucks like Caleb or Brad for the same reason sexually deprived men usually target her *eyes emoji* so..yeah I have high hopes for her!

5. MICHAELA

I don’t think I appreciated Michaela enough while MvG was on (also because I missed a ton of episodes for school and had to binge watch the season in chunks of like five eps at a time). But Michaela has the makings of a legend - she gives me the blend of entertainment and strategy that I referred to in describing Sandra. A different blend than Sandra of course, but Michaela is a unique character in my mind, and I think if she can get past the barrier of being an unknown variable to the rest of the cast, she could do really well. I’m excited to watch her on the season regardless.

6. HALI

MUVVA! The ONLY good thing that I remember about W*rlds Ap*rt excluding Carolyn. Honestly half the reason I love Hali as much as I do is because she’s hot and that’s just the tea. Her weird analogies in confessionals and unintentional comic relief at tribals are great and I’m looking forward to them, as well as her renewed motivation to actually be a strategic force in the season. In worlds apart she at least TRIED to do something strategically, so now I’m hoping she can maybe tune her social game up a bit in order to be able to implement some of her schemes.

7. MALCOLM

Yeah I absolutely am thirsty for Malcolm. Sure am. Is that why he’s this high on the list? Britney_spears_crying_yeah.gif . SNkjdsfhjdskh I’m only half serious about that. Based on the pregame ET Canada interviews, I think his ego either got bigger or he’s just more comfortable showing it now that he’s played twice and feels like there’s less to prove, so I could see him being more of a villain this season than an underdog like his first two seasons. He is strategically adept, and I don’t think there’s a chance he could become someone’s goat and get super uninteresting, so all in all I’m happy he’s coming back.

8. JT

Ohh JT. If I remember correctly, he was the first person to play a perfect game and I think that makes him a game changer. What bumped him up in my rankings was the fact that in his interviews, his passion for the game is burning up like Russell’s hat in the fire. JT is NOT here to play games this season. I liked him in both Tocantins and HvV; I think he gives a level headed and still insightful perspective into the game, and in spite of him giving Russell that idol, I do think JT is one of the smartest people on this cast in terms of not only being able to come up with good strategic moves but being able to implement them. I agree with what he said in his interviews that people will more remember his blunder in HvV and extreme loyalty to Stephen over him winning and probably be more inclined to work with him, so I think JT could definitely make it far and maybe win again.

9. ZEKE

Something about Zeke’s personality I’m drawn to. I wasn’t a humongous Zeke stan in MvG (because I was rooting for David’s side I’m sorry Zeke), but as the game went on, he went from initially annoying me because he looked too old to be on the milennial tribe to being really endearing and pleasant to watch. Maybe it’s recency bias but seeing him and Michaela going into this season for some reason feels like two new players being cast into a season of allstars, and automatically makes me want to root for the two of them.

10. TROYZAN

Let me take a minute and fasten my wig on before saying this but um..I like Troyzan. dnsjkgfhjkhd if you want to block me after that I understand. He pissed me off in One World of course because he tried to act like he could compare to the legendary Kim Spradlin when he clearly could not, but now that Kim isn’t here I think he might be more tolerable. He’s an independent thinker which is the main quality that makes me like Troyzan. It’s a mess that the main thing he’s remembered for is screaming “this is my island” at a group of women who then steamrolled over his corpse, but it at least proved that he’s not only extra and will add some drama to the show, but he will pave his own way strategically.

11. AUBRY

No one can deny that Aubry was a strategic force in Kaoh Rong. That’s the main reason that I’m happy that she’s returning because I think she definitely earned it with her level of gameplay. For some reason there’s a disconnect for me with Aubry that I hope this season will patch up and I’ll be able to fully stan her. She doesn’t have that quality for me that I love in players like Sandra, Tony and Cirie, where they are not only amazing strategically but also have that entertainment factor. In summary, I have no qualms with this casting choice, but I’m going to have to wait until the season starts to know whether I’m going to root for her or not.

Lowkey not doing it for me:

12. SIERRA

I remember really liking Sierra in W*rlds Ap*rt until the moment she rejected Hali’s plan, then let herself get dragged behind the likes of D*n F*ley and W*ll S*ms. That was just sad. Her only moment of redemption was voting for Carolyn at FTC, but it was too little too late for me. I still really like Sierra as a person, but for me to sit here and start saying I think she’s a game changer in any way would be a complete load of shit. I don’t see why Carolyn wasn’t given her spot, but she wasn’t, so I hope Sierra can really prove herself this season as a strategic player, because at this point I wouldn’t give her that label.

13. CIERA

I’ve seen enough of Ciera. I understand why she’s a game changer, and as such I understand why she’s on the season, but I’m just tired of her. I think it’s because of her political views that I just haven’t been able to reconcile. I really liked her on Blood vs Water and she was pretty good during Cambodia, but every time I think about her I just start thinking about how she’s a Republican and I’m like okay................ . . . .. um.... I can’t. I’ll know that I’ll never root for Ciera over the top nine people on this list, but I don’t HATE her, so if she goes as hard as she did at the end of Blood vs. Water I think I’ll end up liking her more. I think my opinion is also based on the fact that I don’t see where her storyline could develop from here on the show. Anyways.. I like? Ciera? At least somewhat? So..I think she will at the least deliver some quality conspiracies on the show.

14. TAI

I like Tai but the only thing I remember about him is him loving a chicken and him being very wishy washy at the end of KR. I could see him going far again for sure, but not on his own strategic merit; I think he could easily become the goat of a stronger player ie at least 80% of this cast. I mean if that has to happen I hope it’s Sandra :)) but yeah...in general...I don’t think he was THAT popular to merit a spot on this season in spite of not really being that great of a player. I’m sure he’ll have some other cute moments with animals and nature and whatnot so I’m looking forward to those I guess?

15. OZZY

Ozzy is the lowest person on my rankings that I would consider to be a game changer. The reason why he’s this low in spite of that is because I think even though he has changed the game, the game hasn’t changed him. He’s played THREE TIMES before this and I still get the sense that he’s going to use the exact same strategy this season...yikes. In South Pacific, he was being more strategic I think..but that may just have been because he felt like the leader of his tribe, so the narrative of the season centred around his thoughts for the tribe and his influence on the tribe. Were his ideas actually strategically sound? Not really, even though I think it’s good that he recognized that physicality was his biggest asset so he took advantage of that (referring to him getting himself voted out to go win duels on redemption island). At least Ozzy has gained some self awareness over ten years? Maybe? I hope so for his sake.

16. JEFF

I’m sorry but how is he a game changer. I can’t fully speak to Jeff’s abilities because I still haven’t watched Australian Outback but based on his game in Cambodia, he was serving some hot mess teas. He did deliver some entertainment like him calling Abi out at the challenge (or getting called out by her I lowkey dont remember), so my best hope for him is that he delivers some more of those. I could see him aligning with Sandra, so if that happens he will almost definitely shoot up in my rankings. As of now though, I don’t have any expectations for him. He’s at least not loathsome and completely deluded.

17. DEBBIE

I’m over Debbie’s shtick. I feel like she’s going to get herself embarrassed by the players this season who are ACTUALLY strategic. I think the reason she’s on this season is supposed to be for entertainment value, and in a regular cast filled with slightly more boring people that’s fine, but this is game changers. Everyone here is entertaining in their own right and Debbie is just annoying to me. Honestly she’s only above Sarah because I feel like she won’t last long and therefore I’ll have to deal with seeing her less and get less annoyed. If she targets players that I don’t like, maybe I’ll starting warming up to her and she’ll rise in my rankings, but for now I’m not hype about her.

18. SARAH

Girl. Her dealing with the Kass situation that resulted in her voteout was one of the most embarrassingly bad displays of strategy - or LACK OF strategy rather - in a minute on Survivor. Sarah really doesn’t entertain me at all and my impression of her from Cagayan leads me to believe she will probably not be that strategically adept. I’m in disbelief that she was even cast, like...really??? CBS couldn’t find anyone either more strategic or more entertaining than Sarah? damn. The one moment I can remember liking her was in Morgan’s ponderosa video when they were putting on makeup together because ok that was cute but it had literally nothing to do with the game. I could see her going far which annoys me even more because I wouldn’t want her to stay in the game over anyone higher on this list, maybe just Debbie. I hope Sarah can get it together this season because I’m almost done with her and the season hasn’t even started.

19. BRAD

Brad is totally a game changer! He invented getting his wig torn off by Candice Cody and Marissa Peterson!! KWEENT Bread <3 God I can’t believe he’s on this season. Based on the previews, they’re going to try to give him a redemption arc of some kind which I’m already over. The good part about him is that I can’t see him winning even if he gets to the final three, so as long as a smarter player that I like can get control over him, I can support him being on the season as a meat shield. If Brad does manage to at least fake some humility and become a better player, good for him I guess. I just know it’s highly unlikely I’m going to end up rooting for him unless he targets the very last person on this list.

20. CALEB

Bye. Bye. Literally bye. Whose dick is Caleb sucking at CBS to not only get on survivor the first time after being a complete embarrassment on BB, but get to return?? ON A GAME CHANGERS SEASON?????? Mike Skupin got airlifted first and he did it in a literal blaze of glory so Caleb...hunty..please explain how you changed anything. His interviews are even more cringeworthy, with him saying dumb shit like “I’m just happy I can return so I can be a warrior for my tribe” GIRL......B Y E GO HOME!!!! Maybe he’ll become an actual game changer if he gets medevaced twice. That’s the only hope I have for his legacy.
