thoughts on the new bad batch trailer?

Please take my analysis with a grain of salt as Disney can post flashback scenes, scenes that might look to be part of a whole sequence but are two separate/several ones to throw us off. Plus these is plenty that they AREN'T probably including in the trailer. Should be interesting if there will be a second trailer for S3.

I don't see too much serious evidence that outwardly points to Tech. HOWEVER, I do see two "maybe" possibilities in the trailer and they are both wearing helmets:

Timestamp 1:03, The "X" Clone Trooper shown in the second half of the trailer. Now I have seen one trooper who unalived himself in the last season w/Senator Chuchi and Rex, so we know there are clones still actively working for the Empire. And, if you look REALLY close, Timestamp 0:36, there are more X Clone Troopers in the trailer scene right before the one w/Omega getting scanned. It's a shot from the top of the room showing what looks like 3 X Clone Troopers and a droid. Could one of them be Tech? Don't know.

Timestamp 1:14, The scene with the Imperial armored soldier in the cockpit of his ship lifting his left arm up. Did Tech steal a stormtroopers armor to save his brothers? Remember Tech's "hand signal" callback to S1? Is he signaling to The Batch? Or, also in Tech fashion, is he flailing because of an explosion as Tech sometimes does? Or, is it just a random stormtrooper and not Tech?

Looks like we get Fennec, Rex, Echo, Phee, Howzer, Cad Bane, Ventress, Palpatine, and Scorch.

The scenes in the trailer that REALLY has me scratching my head:

Timestamp 0:28 shows an Imperial Transport ship crashed and smoldering on a large hill. Is it the same ship from Timestamp 1:07? Faraway shot of several figures walking away: The one at the top of the hill looks like Omega. There is a figure either rolling down the hill: Wrecker? Although, silly me who works with dogs...it almost looks like a dog running down the hill. And a figure at the bottom that I at first thought was Crosshair...but then it kinda looks like Rex with the shadowy person walking next to them on the other side. It looks like Phee's hair. Or did this ship only carry Omega as seen in Timestamp 1:23? Did she meet someone on the planet to help her hide? Someone with a dog (I just remember the wonderful scene with the space puppy licking Omega's face and how happy her laugh sounded)?

Timestamp 0:33 is that Crosshair in the left hand side of the screen walking calmly in the opposite direction (that everyone else is running)? Is he settling a score? Is that Clone Trooper "X" (possibly Tech?).

What does the "il" uniform patches on each side of Omega's shoulders mean. I checked the Aurebesh language keys online. Doesn't match up with anything.

Who is CX-1??? Timestamp 1:15. Boba Fett????

Timestamp 1:21, who is the dude in the white and grey armor??? Wait...OH SHIT...is THAT WOLFFE???

I DON'T trust Emerie. She's creepy. Sorry. Not all the clones are tight with one another. I worry she's in secretly with Hemlock.

Are Fennec and Cad Bane working with The Batch? Or against them? Is Ventress teaming up with The Batch against Palpatine? Or is she truly fighting them at the end? Or is that just two separate scenes meant to look like they go together?

And, something that makes me sad: Both Hunter and Wrecker look older, more aged. They are still so handsome. However, with the stress of what they have gone through, plus their advanced aging...well, how long do they have left? The still of Echo doesn't look like he aged at all. Could it be that he isn't as accelerated due to what the Techno Union did to him? Or were The Batch genetically altered to be so specialized...but live even shorter lives than the Regs?

i was so excitedly surprised to see the new visuals!!! they did a really great job combining the new origins cutscenes with gameplay and the timing was INCREDIBLE esp for a live show. infinite kudos and honestly i can appreciate them waiting two years to actually do this since the cutscenes really tied to first few medleys together

conductor absolutely CRUSHED IT dude was very understanding that the audience was going to be Losing It consistently and he made it work. so much love to that orchestra they did a stellar job and im so sad they’ll get overshadowed by the vocal parts (which. yeah obviously. but they did SUCH great work and the conductor did a great job directing the audiences applause to them)

felt bad they had to stop between every single medley for applause but such is life . also experiencing live audience reactions for stuff like the chemical plant zone drowning trap and amy being playable in the metal sonic race was amazing

enjoyed the sky sanctuary medley even though it took the place of the sonic 3k music overall, so much kudos to the video team that was SO cool (AND IT HAD THE FRONTIERS ANIMATED SPECIAL!!!!! YEAHHHH WIN FOR KNUCKLES FANS EVERYWHERE)

the believe in myself/it doesn’t matter one’s are always so sweet to me i love how they frame them using the cutscenes from each of their respective stories + the end card 🥺 now do that for everyone else’s themes!!!!!!!!!!

i’m definitely forgetting at least one bit in there but it was so delightful all around, the new arrangements were so fun, unleashed sweeps as always but one guy near me was SUPER passionate about aquarium park im glad he was happy. the frontiers medley ended w/ the new supersonic form and having not watched that trailer this was the BEST possible way to see that new content holy SHIT!!!!!!!!

intermission: that was the single most positive bathroom i’ve ever been in and i mean that in the least weird way possible. everyone was so so so excited and complimentary (ty to the person who liked my pins and whose fiancé liked the tails one. i like it a lot too :]) also kudos to the stunning wave cosplayer i saw she was killing it!!!!! molly whoever you were i hope you enjoyed the second half as much as i did

interesting structure too, compared to the order of the OG one in 2021 (which focused more on ramping up to the classics + live n learn at the end) this order bookended some of the less popular songs (reach for the stars and the new superstars theme particularly) with the BIG names

literally two minutes before the second half started i was telling my beloved friend i dragged along that all i needed to be happy was for them to have kept knight of the wind and it was the FOURTH SONG . WIN FOR JAY. 3 of my top fives within the first twenty mins of act 2. incredible

obviously escape from the city floored everyone. i think that got the most people singing but we were all already exhausted vocally it was very funny hearing what lines people mumbled. but it DID have the most call and response, with the biggest songs they would really just shut off the mics and let the audience sing a lot of lines it was so so fun

johnny took his leave from the stage (and complimented + thanked dave vives and also the fandom), said goodnight, and sometime around now tomoya ohtani was brought on (he deserved more applause and did eventually get it)

superstars theme was cool!!!! but right after city escape was funny bc . no one knows it. you go from most singable theme imaginable to everyone sitting as upright as possible and the half that wasn’t already recording to whip out their phones to capture it especially as they introduce it as “the first time this song has EVER played on this side of the ocean” lmao. hope you liked it london i’m glad you took us down a peg

his worrrrrrlddddd we all love it. we were all so tired. also we kept fumbling the lines bc we all like the zebra head version and rappings hard. i get it. video team did a fun job remixing the visuals for sonic + shadow + silver focus sections though it was really cool

reach for the stars really had people peetering out over the length partly bc we were all exhausted vocally and partly bc it’s sadly less iconic

i could not take fistbump seriously bc they had our beloved ian jr front and center for the whole video. it was glorious. they started w gadget for the opening bit and then bam ian jr everywhere. amazing . got a whole games worth of cutscenes with his beautiful face you did your creator (who was IN THE AUDIENCE) proud

at this point they thanked everyone for coming + the band walked off stage and they turned all the lights off for a joke. me knowing they wouldn’t leave w/o live and learn was skeptical <- totally forgot they had a whole other guest star who hadn’t done his signature contribution yet

“one more” chanting ensued and my bro says he thinks they definitely had someone planted to say that but like. they did way more than one more. no way that was an intentional phrase

it’s dead. it’s dead and gone . my hearing and also the ability to play sonic music it’s been forever changed . hearing those incredible songs from frontiers + a full live orchestra backing up the astounding vocals (HOW) was incredible. this is when i could feel the literal balcony shaking . my vocal chords are going to kill me tomorrow

obligatory “just one more” was undefeatable and ngl im so glad they did it second, the hype up with break through it all made it even better despite them going the opposite in the game . should have used the cooler going supersonic clip from the trailers rather in game though . no one is immune to undefeatable + the extending music video was crazy good

ANOTHER “one last one” in which johnny was called back on stage, pretended to not know what people were asking for/what he was supposed to sing, got the ENTIRE crowd yelling the name of the song, and then and he + kellin absolutely crushed live and learn

they showed the really funny still shot of shadow overlaid on the moon for the last shot of the video and i know it’s the actual ending but it lingered for like 15 seconds and i couldn’t stop laughing . they showed all the dialogue captions leading up to him dying so i though they were going to show him falling to earth but nah. stock render brain store ass pose

despite a few things im blah about with the netflix LA and still more excited about it that that avatar studios and im a kataang fan so i should be happy right? but no i got such low faith in bryan/mike after lok it felt they just didnt understand their own characters .. im in the mostly neutral camp about em no hate/deep love but their choices in LOK baffle me to this day ..

I haven’t watched LoK but anyone who follows me or has talked to me probably knows my “there are no comics on Rose’s blog” rule so yeah I have simillar mixed feelings on the og creators 🥲 I still love the original show with my entire heart. I know I’ve been pretty critical this rewatch around but I’ve done more thoughtful analysis with a more positive spin in the past so right now I’m doing a lot of “hey that sucks” live posting lol

I was initially more hopeful about the live action than I am now but some of the stuff I’ve seen about it…. Mm. 😬 We’ll see I guess!

Oh man I love yoo takes me back. I stopped reading it awhile ago cause I think it was being dragged out and I kinda lost the plot somewhere. I don’t like when the story keeps continuing when it’s just for the sake of it and it doesn’t work with the plot. There are very few exceptions to this. Tokyo Revengers obv being one of them cause I would seriously be so happy if it went on forever and I got to see what the daily lives of all my beloved characters were like. I have a love hate relationship with Ken Wakui 😤🤧😭. OH ALSO as sad as I am abt the ending I’m so excited for the second season in January (Black Dragons arc is my favorite). Have you seen the trailer? ALSO there was an announcement right after the release of the final chapter saying that Wakui was gonna be doing a special arc abt the Toman founders and I really hope it’s in the reset timeline with Takemitchy cause I need to see how him and Mikey did it all and just their relationship with everyone (adding childhood-friends trope to the number of reasons why this ship has everything). And it also included the announcement of Wakui saying he’s working on multiple spin-offs and I was like AFJBGFDJKHHHGGHGGG YES GIMME *ahem* also I haven’t read the Bajifuyu Letter from Baji Keisuke spin off yet but I was gonna wait until after the manga ended as a source of comfort yknow so I gotta do that eventually. EGGNOID MY DEAR COLD-BLOODED KING SIRENS LAMENTS LETS PLAY. I LOVE ALL OF THESE SO MUCH. Haven’t read them in a while tho 😅 (besides Lore Olympus atm). I recommend Brimstone and Roses, Unlovable Replacement, Midnight Poppy Land, SubZero, Down to Earth, and The Kiss Bet. They’re all on webtoons. OH and i heard that Nagi makes an appearance in the latest ep so I’m excited not cause I’m falling for him or anything ofc. How’s life? Good I hope? I finished reading the latest chapters of the manga (and I'm amazed at the fact that I've managed to keep up with it so far; are we ever gonna get shirtless aiku and i wanna see him with the italian team)

I love yoo does make me feel nostalgic; but yeah as much as I love the whole story, the plot did get dragged out. So like here's the thing, I've watched a lot of k dramas and some of them are really lengthy. Like whats wrong with secretary kim had a good plot and everything, so did suspicious partners but this new one I watched (the penthouse) it got dragged out for so long that I didn't even want to watch season 3; even if it was interesting i'm being pushed to watch hospital playlist even with let's play when Sam and Charles were being dragged with Marshall in the bg i... dropped it. No ill will intended against the author and their artwork; cause they are amazing, but i lose interest with complicated plots. me watching he is a psychometric

The coincidence! I was literally asking abt the black dragons today (wanted to know if Shinichiro is there or not and turns out he is!) I wanna see the whole thing with Mitsuya, Hakkai and Taiju - me having a tr brainrot and thinking if i should work on it or will people get annoyed with me ⁽⁽ଘ( ˊᵕˋ )ଓ⁾⁾ I like manga omakes- they can even be turned into mini eps cause of it - esp with the trio and their pet shop business! I just want you. And thats the thing, that the day you broke up with me, I had spent all day looking forward to seeing you. I was with my last client  and I kept saying to myself, “only 2 meow hours before I get to go home and see Ryan. Okay now 1 hours, okay now 30 minutes. I was so excited to see you after spending 3 days away from you and now its been 2 weeks. I miss you. I really do wish ,y first boyfriend had dated me for more than a month. It just all solidified that no one is ever going tot truly want to be with me. I finally found you, someone that likes me, but a month in and youre done. I understand youre busy and need to focus on yourself, but it just makes me feel like im not enough, im not worth the effort it takes to be with. I never am and I never will be. I hope in another sims universe we’re together, because it made me so happy when you said that, and I would like to think that we’re one of the rare ones where we didn’t end up together and in most of the other ones we were destined to be each others person, like I thought we were in this one. I saw main tera hero once again....I'm telling the embarrassment, the cringe, THE OVERACTING 😮‍💨 ok yeah ik it is a rom-com, even if they did exaggerate, it is to emphasise the funniness idk whtv BUT GODDAMN HIS ACTING DID NOT DO IT FOR ME how did I even like it? 😭😭 YK it is a remake from a South Indian movie, which was waaaayyyyy better thn this. There was no cringey acting like his. ~After the movie he drove you home and you could tell he was nervous the entire way

~He walked you to the door but you dragged him to the back of the trailer where there was no window cause you knew Eddie would watch if you guys said goodbye in front of the door

~Before he could comprehend what you were doing, you put your hands around his neck and pulled him down and kissed him

~He was shocked at first but eventually gave into the kiss and wrapped his hands around your waist as he pulled you a lot closer to him (rail me rn like pretty please)

~Once you guys broke apart for air, he rested his forehead against yours

Steve came back from his "walk several hours later, drunk, and still fuming. He sees you and Eddie sitting on the couch, Eddies arms wrapped around you. "Get the fuck up" Steve demands, grabbing your arm.

"Dont tou.." Eddie began before Steve cut him off "SHUT UP MUNSON." His grip around your wrist tightened as he pulled you to your feet.

"Heres what's gonna happen" he said, face inches away from yours, "your either going to get rid of it, or you both can get the fuck out of here."

"Shes not getting rid of MY baby Steve" Eddie scoffed, reaching his arm in-between you and Steve.

"Shes MY girlfriend Munson, and if she wants to stay here and be with me, she's fucking getting rid of it." Steve spits, grabbing Eddies collar. The boys stared at each other in a heated, silent glare, chests heaving, fists clenching.

"Im not getting rid of it Steve" you mutter, looking over at Eddie.

"Then get the fuck out. Both of you. NOW" Steve yells, shoving you towards the door. The last time you saw Steve was when Eddie was pounding his fist into Steve's face for touching you. "Go, wait in my van, I'll be right there" he commanded through gritted teeth before shutting the apartment door, ready to full on brawl with Steve.

That was two months ago. Now you and Eddie live in a tiny little trailer, close to his uncle Wayne. Eddie picked up more shifts at the hideout, and you got a part time job at the Library in town. You and Eddie were happy, incredibly in love, and so excited for your baby. There was just one problem, Steve Harrington was stalking you.

It started 2 weeks ago, when Steve caught a glimpse of your tiny bump as he was waiting for Henderson to come out of the Library. He knew he'd royally fucked up the moment he regained consciousness after Eddie had beat his ass. He wanted you back with him, no matter who's baby that was, he NEEDED you back with him.

It was innocent at first, he would come by the library every day, sitting out in his car waiting to catch a small glimpse of you as you walked to your car. But it escalated quickly from there, he would follow you home, and spend hours watching you and Eddie through the windows of your trailer. He watched as Eddie catered to you, watched him spoil you, watched him take Steve's rightful place as the man in your life.

Neither you or Eddie had noticed Steve following you around, that is until today, when Eddie came to pick you up from work. He'd only driven you because you felt dizzy that morning.......when he pulled his van up to the parking lot he saw Steve's BMW. He didn't think much of it at first, its a public library after all, and Steve and Henderson still hangout quite a bit. It wasn't until he noticed Steve still in the drivers seat that he started to get concerned. Eddie became angry when he saw you walk out of the library and towards his van, and he saw Steve's eyes on your every move.

Eddie was almost on fire when you finally entered the van. "Eds......what's wrong?" You ask, immediately noticing how angry he was. "Eddie?"

"Nothing sweetheart" he lied, carefully pulling out of the lot and heading home. It wasn't long until he caught a glimpse of the BMW trailing behind them. That solidified it for Eddie, causing him to become enraged.

"Princess" he said, in a too calm tone, "dont be scared okay, but Steve is following us."

"What?!" You choke, turning in your seat to see that Eddie was right.

"He was watching you, as you walked out of the library. He watched you walk all the way to my van, and now the fucker is following us" Eddie grips the steering wheel so hard his knuckles turn white. How dare Steve bother the two of you after everything he fucking did. He had a lot of audacity to even fucking look at you at all.

He made a split second decision, holding his arm out in front of you as he stomped on the breaks. The van came to a screeching hault, and Eddie could hear Steve's tires do the same.

"Eddie" you nearly whisper, seeing the anger in his face, knowing what he was about to do.

"Stay here baby, PLEASE." He begs, kissing your cheek before unbuckling his seatbelt. Before you could argue with him he was hopping out of the van, stomping towards Steve, who was already leaning against the hood of his own vehicle.

You were too scared to move, so you just watched in horror at what was unfolding.

"Why the fuck are you following us Harrington" Eddie yells as he approaches Steve, hands gripping his collar as he speaks.

Steve just flashes a coy smile at Eddie before responding, "Im here to take my girl home." Returning Eddies grip around his jacket.

Eddie is taken aback by what Steve had just said to him, "what the fuck are you talking about Harrington, that's not YOUR girl anymore remember, she's mine now, she's all fucking mine, you piece of shit" Eddie seethes, shaking Steve as he just laughed in Eddies face.

As you watched from the van you witnessed the most horrible thing happen. Steve swept Eddies leg out from under him, slamming him onto the pavement, knocking him out. You saw the dark look on Steve's face as he turned to the van.

Before thinking you tried to scramble out of the passenger seat, attempting to run into the forest you were parked near. You didn't make it far before Steve had a tight, rough hold around your neck. "Dont fucking fight me babydoll" he said coldly.

You thrashed around for a moment, trying to escape his grip, but he tightens his arm around you, cutting off your air. You gasped for air and stumbled on your feet as Steve led you back to his BMW, shoving you inside. He turned to where Eddie was laying on the pavement, a tiny trickle of blood running down the road where Eddies skull hit the concrete. Steve spit on the ground next to Eddie before climbing into the drivers seat of his car.

You were shaking and crying frantically. "Steve" you whimpered, his tires screeched as he turned the car around, speeding away. He didn't respond to you, he just kept driving, flashing you a crazed look every now and then.

hi, genuinely sorry to dump this all on you but also, would love to get your opinion on this!

I’m having kind of…qualms with kinnporsche since it aired. i’ve been so excited for the show since the first trailer dropped and im not necessarily disappointed per say, i feel like im mostly just trying to understand what i should be expecting from the show?? i think firstly, kinn and porsche’s characters in the show feel different than they were in the trailers (they feel WILDLY different from the first trailer lol) which isn’t honestly a bad thing at all, just again. different expectations. porsche’s character feels the most different; i definitely thought he was gonna be a lot more serious/focused and then gets swayed by his feelings for kinn etc. the thing i never expected was his goofy side (again not a bad thing at all but it leads to my main point which is —> ) i feel like the slapstick comedy of it completely blindsided me and i just dont. get it??? it’s honestly not that the comedy is bad, i just don’t really understand where it fits in. the show is everything it promised to be: great acting, production, styling, plot for the most part, writing for the most part, characters, directing, cinematography, etc everything is such high quality and when they stick to that it works so well but the comedy (specifically the slapstick-ness of it all) always seems so out of place with everything the show is trying to be and i can’t really understand the decision to include it. like these actors are GOOD the directing is GOOD the story is GOOD the production is EXPENSIVE i just (in the nicest way possible) don’t understand why they waste it on like. a few cheap jokes 😶

episode 5 was PHENOMENAL for this exact reason because it finally felt like the show we saw in the trailers. it had so many scenes that just wowed me: the opening scene, the bathroom mirror breakdown scene (which was so reminiscent of the hidden messages trailer), the sex parallels scene, the drunk confrontation scene ALL SO GOOD and showed off exactly what the show is trying to show off: its high quality acting, directing, and styling. i just feel like this episode was exactly what ive been waiting for since ep 1 and i just really really hope they stick with this vibe for the rest of the show it just serves them so so well. again, not hating on the comedy or the show whatsoever and i do not mean to be a stick in the mud AT ALL lol we’ve gotten some great moments from it, but i was just wondering if y’all felt the same or if maybe i really am just being a hater 😅 (also could be - hopefully - worried about nothing and they were just trying to keep things light in the first few eps before delving into the angst lol)

Given that first trailer was by a totally different production company and crew, the final product was always going to be way different once Be On Cloud got ahold of it, and I personally am so happy it turned out that way! You’re right that the first trailer and what we actually got are two totally different things, so I get that it could be hard to adjust your expectations with all the changes made.

As far as the comedy aspect goes, I’m by no means an expert in the Thai film and tv industry or even just Thai culture in general, so I don’t want to generalize too much, but I’ve found that pretty much every series I’ve watched, even the more serious melodramas, will feature some amount of this style of comedy, and atp I’m inclined to say it’s just par for the course! It’s not necessarily everyone’s cup of tea, and if you’re coming from a Western lens the mix of comedy and drama can be jarring at first. It’s maybe less immediately accessible to, say, an American audience or a British one, so there can be a bit of adjustment needed to get used to this style.

I did really like the comedy of the first few eps bc I do think, like you mentioned, that the show from this point is going to get darker, and we needed some moments of levity in the beginning to sort of set the stage and get us used to the characters before they get dumped into all these shitty situations. They’ll need to have those lighter, happier, funny memories when they’re in their darkest moments, and tbh we will too lol.

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with not finding the comedy to your taste - what we like is what we like! If you want to keep watching but aren’t jazzed about having the same amount of comedy that we got in the first few eps, then I’d stick it out for a while yet bc I’m pretty confident we’ll be diving into a lot darker and more serious stuff soon with more of that insane acting from Mile and Apo.

Speaking of not me, i’m just blown away by P’Nuchie’s directing style, i love her so much her work is brillant so beautiful everything is so thought about & i can’t believe i’ve been missing out on her work for all those year before now!!!

Do you know where i could watch other works she directed? Is it easily available for english speakers?

She is absolutely one of the greatest directors of her time and I definitely recommend checking out her work! That being said, I do want to warn you that her best works are not everyone's cup of tea so please watch the trailers and read the synopses carefully checking for triggers before going in.

Her debut film The Blue Hour (2015) is what made me fall in love with her work. It's so incredibly executed it blows my mind. The movie also stars Gun and Oab as the main characters so there's the benefit of having familiar faces to help cope with the very bleak and at times quite violent imagery. This movie is very trippy though, Tam has a very loose grip on reality due to some unspecified illness/disorder so the entire time you're left questioning which of the events actively happened and what was just part of his delusions/hallucinations. It's been a couple years since I watched it and have seen it multiple times now but I still am not entirely sure what did and did not happen. A shortened for TV version is available to watch on Netflix in the Thirteen Terrors anthology but I must warn you if you watch the cut version it will be even more confusing than it already is. Also the cut version cuts out a lot of the scenes showing Tam and Phoom's relationship so... Fully subbed versions of the film are available on most illegal asian show streaming sites though so if you can't find any legit ways to watch it I recommend kissasian.

Her current most critically acclaimed work is Malila: The Farewell Flower (2017). Like The Blue Hour, it has a lot of mature and at times bleak themes. This is a film I haven't been able to find on any legal or not so legal sites atm (tho mdl claims it is on netflix and prime so maybe it's available in different countries?) so I can't give you too many details about it. I recommend checking out MDL for details. Or ask Axelle (@piningbisexuals) since she has actually watched it. What I can say is that it is a very artistic film with a lot of depth and explores queerness and queer love. It also isn't a happy ending but it's not really a film you go into looking for cheer anyway.

Then there's After Dark, a collection of four interlinked horror stories. I actually didn't notice P'Nuchie was a writer and director for this series until I went to her MDL page today even though this series has been on my watchlist for some time since I watched the trailer with Jane. All the more reason to watch it now! This one is a wetv series so if you have access to that it should be easy enough to watch. If not, it is available on dramacool as well.

Finally, there's Girl Next Room: Security Love starring Gigie. This was her first time directing a series and it came out really good. I highly recommend watching it, especially since it's just 6 eps and available on yt (gmm series) so it's the easiest to watch. This is also an easier watch on account of there being no violence or gore or death xD

(But I personally recommend starting your journey with The Blue Hour because it just feels right.)

As for her upcoming work, I'm super excited for Forbidden, which is a mystery horror series with Oab in the cast. I love Oab so I would have checked it out as it is but knowing P'Nuchie directed it just makes it ten times more worth the hype.

How Bad is Sia’s “Music” really?

I watched it illegally (because there was no way I was paying for that bullshit) and found out. It’s not as bad as we thought... It’s worse.

Literally the first thing you hear while they’re showing the production companies is THOSE stereotypical noises. If you’ve seen the trailer, you’ll know what I mean.

What was the need to show her in her underwear? Maddie Ziegler was 14 when this was made, so what was the need??? And why did Sia prolong the scene by having her hitting herself?

Less than a minute in and my reaction was already “what the fuck is this shit?”

So the opening number not only had stereotypical exaggerated facial expression, it has Maddie in BLACKFACE?!? And with culturally appropriated hair?!?

The exaggerated facial expressions are literally constant and I took photos during the film to show it, more later, but I’ll keep mentioning it

Sia, calling your characters Zu and Music doesn’t make them interesting in the slightest. They’re still painfully terrible and one dimensional

Literally ONE minute after being left alone with her autistic sister, Zu calls the mental health service asking if they could “theoretically” “pick up” her sister?!? Like she wants to get rid of her already?!?

“A magical little girl” - autism isn’t a magical power?!? And Music is a young woman, not a little girl?!? Why are you infantilising her?!?

Okay I’m not being funny but this choreography is NOT hard. ANYONE can do it, so claiming that you needed to hire a dancer to be Music because of the numbers is literally bullshit (and even so, there are so many amazing autistic actors and dancers?!?)

And there’s no indication before this that Music puts everything and anything in her mouth, she just randomly decides to get on her knees, under the bench and eat chewing gum, like she calculates that it’s there and gets it???

She has a THIRD meltdown after an allergic reaction to a bee sting and her sister just yells at her before realizing... I’m not here for this movie, I feel like I drifted off and was not really there

So Zu got angry because she left the drugs at the park but she’s not that upset that her sister had an allergic reaction???

Zu gets absolutely drunk because a) she lost Sia’s drugs and b) she’s stressed out by her autistic sister... wow, great message, Sia!

She really fucked off and left her sister alone to go clubbing/on a bender

The less said about the musical number here the better

Sia’s movie also checks the box of having stereotypical Asian parents, specifically stereotypical Asian dad being harsh/angry and hitting his wife!

Let me reiterate: this is a movie about a neurotypical former drug addict whose character development comes from the autistic character, from having an autistic sister she has to take care of. I’m so tired.

We are NOT plot devices or tools for character development. Not once does anyone in this film treat Music like a human being - she’s treated as a burden, a problem, and then like a pet that they decide to keep. Not once is the film focused on how she is feeling - it’s always about Zu or Ebo. The performance itself was so over exaggerated and it made me want to cry when I watched it because this is how the world sees us, and this movie will make it ten times worse. It’s stuff like this that made me think “I don’t want to be labelled as autistic because people will think I’m a certain way”, that made me wait so long before going to the GP to get a referral.

As I said, poor autistic representation aside, the movie is just so appallingly bad. It truly is one of the worst films I’ve watched. If you’re going to watch it, please don’t - or, if you want to because you want to see how bad it is/to raise awareness/critical posts, at least do it illegally. Do not give Sia your money.

Was the first thing you said to yourself. At eight am. On a Saturday. In the middle of July. You usually be sleeping until 2pm on weekends since you were usually so busy on the weekdays. Being Englands new up- and- coming musician is all. 

“Ow!” you said as your foot slipped on something and stubbed your toe on the edge of the dresser. You bit back a mirad of curses as you picked up the foul weapon.

Oh.

Sky Heavens- Head in the Clouds. Your first album. Of course. You were lucky enough to get one from the store. Nearly all of the record shops were sold out. You should be happy, I mean sales were doing great, and as for the royalties-

Oh my gosh how has it ben 25 minutes already?!. 

It was a very important day for you.. you were preforming for your first crowd ever. So of course you were excited. but more nervous because, it was your first time. And you had terrible stage fright. And you were doing a duet with David Bowie. Oh you almost forgot.

Your first performance was gonna be Live Aid.

As you tucked in your fancy bell-sleeved bloused you asked yourself a string of questions. For example:

How in the hell did you get into live aid?

What song were you gonna sing with David, er Mr.Bowie?

Were there gonna be high notes? Could you even hit them?

Am i dressing too casual?

Oh my gosh, were going after Queen.

Your final though was punctuated with a hailing of a cab. You felt dizzy after you entered the car so you focused on the horizon, which made your eyes get heavier and heavier until...

“Ma’am this is a cab not a daycare” the driver grunted.

Your head snapped up, wiping the drool off off your chin. You have got to stop making this a habit. You scolded to yourself.

Every time your legs hit the ground of Wembely Stadium, you could feel the muscles in your leg turn into jelly. Your heartbeat is playing the percussion. And your pretty sure that your haven’t taken a breath since coming out of the cab.

You finally taken a breather when you hear commotion coming from the nearest hallway. You saw so many stars you could’ve swore you were in space. You saw Elton John, Freddie Mercury, Roger Taylor, Brian May, (you couldn’t find John Deacon) Adam Ant was sitting on a couch reading a magazine. Next to him was Elvis Costello sticking straws down his hair, you were about to laugh when-

“Boo!”

“Jesus!”

 “No this is David.” joked a lanky man with blond hair, and a pastel blue suit, matching your all white outfit (with a pale blue headband) making you too look like the color of the sky.

“Mr.Bow- David, hi!” you exclaimed, trying to sound as cheery as possible. 

He hesitated for a moment looking in your eyes as if searching for something only for a moment. “Come into my trailer, i need to talk to you.” he says softly.

You followed him into what looked like a portal to the personification of serenity. There were books piled on top of a small table. A kettle burning on low. With not surprisingly, a pile of teacups littered on top of the counter.  You also noticed (on nosier inspection) small annotations scribbled in the corners.

“Y/N!!”

“YES” you exclaimed, jumping slightly. You have got to start paying more attention to your surroundings.

“Tell me whats on your mind, and be honest” his voice was filled with concern, but somehow still comforting.

You took a breath- seventh one today. And started:

“ I feel like everyone will be disappointed, when they see me. All I ever wanted to do was make music that someone will relate to and find comfort in. And now that I have that, which I am very grateful for, I have to handle the price of fame as well. People put celebrities on pedestals and if they make one mistake in the public eye the pedestal crumbles. And don’t even get me started on the media. And today one of the biggest days in history, and if I do bad, then i will not only disappoint myself but the families in Africa who are relying on me to succeed. And-”

“Y/N” David said sternly “Calm down, you will be fine.” He took a breather and said.” You remind me of myself when I was younger, a shy little Capricorn boy, I just wanted to make music, and the fame tagged along. Its what happens eventually. I just used theatrics to cover up the stage fright.” “Now I just focus on the crowd as if they were one person and give them ll the light I have.”

“As for you when singing Under Pressure with me- while singing Freddie’s part- I want you to take all of the audience’s energy, make it into light and give it towards the sky.” “Give everybody hope.”

Just then you heard.a knock at the trailer. it was time for you to get ready. 

You watched as Queen rocked the show. This was gonna be hard for you to follow up. You felt like this performance was gonna be talked about for decades. You felt pity for the future generations that wont get to see this. 

You watched with butterflies in your stomach, as you saw David perform TVC 15 which bleed into Rebel Rebel. You smiled with fondness, as the corners of your mouth twitched,(which happened often when you’re nervous). When you were turned around.

“Y-Yes ” you were shaking

Once again, i pregame and think I’ll stay UTR but the game starts and i get impatient and just want to do something. so i volunteered for the summit/hero challenge. And my arch nemesis Ava is there too....

Zukiswa

Today was a quiet day. Nothing major happened. I was so happy that my tribe won the challenge and the plan with my alliance worked. Clefford has really come through and I now trust him. Looks like me, MJ and Clefford are my ride or die in this game. I am also making very interesting connections with Jinx and Ava. These are that at a human level. We have not even spoken about the game yet in our one on ones. It's just very exciting. 

Julia

I confess, the relief at not having tribal tonight, is palpable. I almost got 'tripp'ed up but plans have not been derailed. However, they have changed a little bit. I was trying to save Tony and i dont know why. He dissed me, so ok Tony, dont come looking for my help later.... these boys dont wanna play with me... their loss...im used to being underestimated. Thats one of my superpowers, so im throwing my hat in the ring like a boomerang baby

Ariel

I am writing a confessional early because waiting for the challenge result is making me nervous, and there is nothing I can do about it. So MJ is trying to form an alliance with me and Navi which I am actually really excited about. We all came from different tribes and have different time zones. So yaaaaay! This is actually makes me excited to merge. Hopefully the 3 of us makes it to merge. Speaking of merge, I still have to put myself in a good position within our tribe for me to Survive. And honestly, I have no idea what's going on with our tribe. I have a good talk with all of my tribemates but that is all I got. I don't know who is close with who. I hope Adeline trust me enough to keep me. I feel like I could work with Dj and even with Jinx and Dominique. But my main priority for now is try to work with Adeline, so I can connect to Ava and Els at merge as well. Idk, I am just hoping we will be safe again. I don't want to go to tribal council. Waking up to a new day after the first Tribal was CANCELLED. Boyyy did we get so lucky! Especially me being that I actually missed Tribal. I would've gotten my first strike had it not been for Brandon being booted. Going forward I really have to be on top of things!

Yayyy! I eventually created an alliance with Navi and Ariel and we now have an alliance chat. I’m still on the look out but they seem sweet. Hopefully we all make it to the merge cos that’s the whole essence 😂

Been way too tired to make video confs. But basically i volunteered for the summit. Ava was there 😡 nemesis. And then we all started the challenge and all couldn’t do it. So we negotiated for a bit and decided to go with rock paper scissors between the three of us. Ava won first, i won’t second, tony last. And we bribe the hosts so that they would tell our tribe that we gave up on the actual challenge LOL. Gave my coins to jinx and els

Hahahaha I probably the happiest girl in “Fiji” right now 🤣😂😅🤣 my tribe won immunity again! Whoop whoop! We’re giving the “Taku vibes” from survivor US season 42. Ava is really a useful tribe member and they’ve proven that twice. They also gave me a coin which means they trust me enough or like me at least. Everyone in my tribe says we should keep winning till merge! Yes I wish so too but I can’t stop thinking , what if we find our selves at tribal pre-merge. I don’t want that to catch us unaware so right now , I’m trying to make the best possible safest and wisest alliances ever. I’ll make Ava a very good friend but not an obvious ally except if they propose it. I think I’m just still trying to wrap my head round a-lot of things which is okay. Lastly, I need to check up on my one world ally (Navi) and make sure she isn’t gonna home. Ariel and I need her. That’s all for today. I slept of twice typing this. LOL

Today was not so loud. I think I've made some connections with people outside my tribe though. Jinx feels like my first born. But I know this is a game and I can't play it like a Mom.

I am kinda bummed out that we lost the challenge and going back to tribal council to vote someone off. While i think our orig plan - with 2 variables will hold, and neither involves me, anxiety, never far away, IS nibbling at my fringes.... the member that lost the challenge would not engage in a alliance with lil 'old' me the day before and now its too late as ive solidified a connection in an interesting way.... tsk tsk... im glad i understood the assignment ahead of time, as in.... if you accept the challenge and fail, you gotta start dog paddling... now had that member been willing to form an alliance, Id be trying to save his arse... instead now i may be helping to orchestrate his virtual demise mwa ha ha ha ha

Alright so it turns out we didn’t have to go to tribal for the first round… But then we still lost and we’re gonna lose a person regardless this round (yay…) So much for making the most of an opportunity, eh? Well I reached out to Els since they’re the person I trust the most at this point. They asked what I thought about the vote, I pitched Tony since he was one of the targets last round. I’m not super married to the plan, and I let them know that I’m will to hear out any ideas they have. They haven’t responded back yet. Everyone else has been radio silent except for Tony. We’re just talking about Canada lol. This vote is gonna be tough to coordinate on my end since I’m gonna be busy tomorrow (yay work 🙃), so hopefully we can get a plan going and get the pieces in place before I get really busy. But knowing my luck it’s going to be the most arduous process of all time 😭 Oh also, I’m now officially in an alliance with MJ and Ariel. I’ll try to update if anything major happens.

Am I toast or am I f*cked? Shooooot, this definitely is not the best thing to happen to me right now. I feel like, Jinx and Adeline definitely is working together either with Dominique or Dj. Adeline and Jinx, both did not give me any coins. So that sucks. It means I am definitely not on their good graces, which I don't really know why? Is this about the time zone thing again? Adeline got us safety! That is a relief, but I am a little worried about how difficult the second challenge was! The difficulty level went up so drastically from the first round to the second round. I need to work more on my social game if the challenges are going to get more difficult like that.

I can now say that the game has really started. I am that kind of person who is organized and want to see things my way or atleast have a control of it. I tried my best to control where coins would go. I had to give 4 coins to Els to prove my alliance with her and 3-3 for me and Jinx. I distributed m coins to MJ and Zukiswa, which both are in alliance, and to Ava since they got the highest score on our first challenge. As the second round started, Ava volunteered to be our Hero in the next challenge. We were all curious on how it will go. They also represented our Tribe at the Summit. When the challenge results been released, I was so proud of Ava for being the number one in the challenge and managed to secure our back-to-back immunity challenge wins. They are so great! BUT, I didn't received any Summit coin from her. I was so confused, because she should've reciprocated my gesture by giving her coin when I gone to The Summit. I felt like I lost control at that moment. I only got 5 coins for these rounds. I got scared of my position in my tribe, even though I'm in alliance with MJ and Zukiswa. I spend all of my coins at the Merchant's Emporium and got an Extortion Advantage where I can extort coins from someone. They must give it to be before tribal or else, they'll lose their vote on Tribal Council. I was so happy, because it was well spent! Now, I'm making observations on who have the most coins, so I can use this advantage.

Hiiii, I bring you another confession that I should’ve done way sooner! This round was literally determined by Rock Paper Scissors It’s rock paper tribal Anyways Julia and I got on a call and rlly bonded, she revealed that she originally wanted me out bc she saw me as a threat and I was like omg but now she wants to work with me until the end bc she didn’t want to lie to me! Summit gave me 4 coins, assuming 2 from Adeline 2 from Tony, I think it’s best that we keep Tony and vote moth out bc I love moth but they haven’t been active at all I wish Tony had trusted me enough to tell me abt the Rock Paper Scissors but hey he gave me tokens so I’m not complaining!!

So far I'm working on getting in the second person in my 3 person alliance. If this goes well and we all stay true and confident we will be good until the merge as we have pulled in over half the tribe. In this game you can never be too sure so I'm always on the skeptical side, no not paranoid. We will see how this plays out.

Tribal tonight!! I cannot wait to see how this all goes down (being that it's my first ORG and all) Even tho it's our second time having to head to Tribal, it'll be our first time actually voting someone out. I'll be submitting my vote right after this confessional.
