HELLO
Please PLEASE make a fic about the songs church- chase Atlantic!!
It's my latest obsession, next to enha ofc
leading you on | l.hs
♱ plot: from the shy boy you first met at church camp who your parents once adored to their biggest fuckboy nightmare, you and heeseung reconnect on an online platform where you became a popular streaming duo together, leading to some steamy (and eventually forbidden) connections between you two…
loser!streamer!heeseung x fem!streamer!reader
♱ contains: SLOW BURN, swearing, sneaking out, mentions of bulges (multiple times), oral and fingering (f. r.), slight corruption kink, y/n stripping in front of a large audience (on camera), unprotected sex + virginity loss, y/n deliberately disobeying her parents, angst-ish, ft. other kpop idols, roughly 7k words
a/n: this is my first time writing a one shot all about Heeseung so hopefully I did our favorite loser boy some justice in this fic... have fun reading!
Heeseung. He was always just so... flirty with you.
Not emotionally, that is, but physically.
Leaving lingering touches on your thigh during Bible study, whispering dangerously close to your ear in that bedroom voice of his, or texting you random pictures during the day with his bulge obvious in almost every single one.
Two little voices battled in the back of your mind whenever you were around him, one voice wanting him to take things further while the other found it strange how he did such things so shamelessly.
The boy's got sex written all over him, your friends would warn alongside your Christ-converted step-sister Giselle who'd had her fair share of 'guys like Heeseung' in the past.
But you didn't see him that way. Despite his flirty tendencies, you figured those were just attributes that made him who he is.
Who you've always loved him to be.
However, those Holy, Holy, God Almighty church days were long gone by now, being no more than a distant ninth grade memory to you and most of everyone else who attended back then.
Everyone except Lee Heeseung, who could never shake his adolescent infatuation with you... ____, the girl who accepted his flaws and eventually stole his heart.
You and Heeseung reconnected a few years later by chance, the same day of your one year anniversary on your streaming channel.
Initially, your content consisted of one-hour long broadcasts where you'd just talk with random strangers, hearing out their problems and giving righteous advice.
However, Heeseung became a recurrent visitor on your streams, coaxing you to speak on topics more interesting than whether its modest to wear glam makeup or if kissing should be saved for marriage.
Your channel amassed a whopping 20,000 new followers in the first month of Heesung partnering with you, and its part of what led him to becoming an anticipated guest to your growing fanbase.
A dynamic duo, some commenters would call you two... and much to your parents chagrin, at that.
Off camera, things were the same.
You and Heeseung had grown closer than ever, sacrificing sleep to text each other all night, doing fuck-all on your web streams for hours, and even considering meeting up in person for a broadcast after he shared with you that he still lived in the city.
But then... something changed.
Or more accurately, your overly controlling mother put her foot down.
|Messaging| 💬
Heeseung: So we're not allowed to hang out together this Friday ?
You: Not alone... and honestly, not on the streams anymore, either...
Heeseung: Don't tell me its bc ur shyyyy
You: Nope… pArEnTs ^^
You'd say your mom had it out to get Heeseung more than your dad ever did, resenting the mere mentioning of his name at weekly church gatherings.
"That daughter of yours has gained quite the audience on social media," one womann would say, "too bad she seems to be losing her Faith to that poor Heeseung boy..."
"Such a shame," another would agree, adding to the heat-bubbles boiling in your mother's blood-
"Our faith teaches forgiveness and kindness," you defended yourself, just as your mom gave you maybe her third lecture this week on why you should cut ties with him.
"It also advises caution and wisdom when it comes to who we allow into our social circles," she hummed back, taking a sip of her morning coffee, red lipstick staining the rim of the white mug, "I'd be no better than a fool to sit here and support this meaningless friendship between you and that... man."
You internally rolled your eyes at her words, thinking of something, anything to say in order to change the subject right now.
"Well, I have plans with some friends from church tonight, if you don't mind-"
"Will Heeseung be there?"
"What? No," you lied, and not for the first time, either.
It helped you to feel less guilt whenever you blamed it on the little voice in your head, "Just me and the girls," you clarified.
"Mhm," she smiled facetiously before continuing, "I'm afraid I still can't trust you to go, though... especially not after that little stunt you pulled online..."
Your hand halted at the kitchen countertop as her words settled in your mind, "What stunt?"
FLASHBACK
It all started with a picture.
A stupid picture you got dared to leak by an anonymous tipper who offered a $1,000 donation in exchange for a steamy photo of Heeseung.
Chelbear03: God, he looks so THICK
Chelsea, one of your viewers said in the streaming chat, practically moaning at the photo of Heeseung, biting her lip as if she could feel him inside her just by looking at the screen.
Chelbear03: PAINFUL 😩
pucca_princxss: Need a tissue for your drool, Sea-Sea? 🧻
Danielle, another fan joked.
Chelbear03: Okay, FIRST of all, I have drool coming from TWO holes rn- Secondly, I'd rather just have him lick it up 😔
Chelsea typed back, a nuance to her words that you couldn't tell was meant to be either comical or serious.
"Lick up what?" a curious voice asked from the screen.
That's when your hand flew to cover your mouth, eyes going wide at the sight of Heeseung coming back into frame after saying he'd be "afk for a bit while showering."
His hair was still a bit damp from what you could tell, a towel draped lazily around his neck as your eyes unfortunately fell to the lump hiding behind his pants.
Oh God-
"N-nothing! Uhm... it's not important," you chuckled dryly, only adding to the awkwardness everyone was starting to feel from behind their screens.
pucca_princxss: OOP speak of the papi-
Chelbear03: Please forgive me, Hee-man 🧎♀️ ... bc I am disrespectfully foaming at the mouth as we speak-
Chelbear03 has left the stream
A notification of Chelsea having left the stream popped up in the chat almost immediately after she sent that message.
"What was that all about?," Heeseung smirked with confusion, looking between both you and the server comments displayed on his screen for an answer that never came.
"Fine then, keep your secrets... its not like I can't just rewind the stream highlights anyway," he added, just as you felt frantic emotions overcome you.
"Heeseung, you really don't wanna do that, just let me explain-"
His jaw dropped, not necessarily in shock, but with intrigue, the raunchy photo of his semi-hard cock through his sweatpants being displayed on the screen, right before his glossy deer-like eyes.
The same picture he'd only ever sent to you.
"I guess this is my mini Drake moment then," Heeseung chuckled to himself, a heavy sigh escaping your lips at his fortunately chill reaction.
"I did it for 1k, Heeseung, I'm sorry," you whined, pulling your knees up in your chair before burying your face behind them.
"Don't be... everyone already knows I'm your slut at this point," he said in a deeper voice, making you freeze once again as your eyes shot up to view the screen, almost in denial that such words even left his mouth.
anonymous tipper: worst thousand $$$ I ever spent... how abt I multiply the price by two for a sexy picture of the lady ?
yxstar3ject: ooo, but i was thinking maybe a double feature instead ? would luvvv to see how she treats this little slut of hers 🤭
Heeseung snickered so loud, you almost felt it on your skin, watching his facial expressions change with each suspicious message that filled the chat box, throughly entertaining him
"Guys, cut it out before I end the stream," you giggled shyly, revealing your full face that looked a little less flustered than earlier, "Heeseung isn't my slut either, okay? Just a good friend, I swear..."
pucca_princxss: you two need to stream in the same room one day bc this long distance sexual tension thing is so not the vibe :|
"Maybe one day..." Heeseung's voice faded off as he turned off the lights in his room, getting ready for bed...
"Maybe~~," your mother repeated in a mocking tone at the memory of your "filthy fest" of a stream that day, disgust displayed all over her before she took the last sip of her coffee as if it'd soothe her.
"Hope that refreshed your memory sweetie, but either way, my answer's no. Not with that slut on the streets and especially not without my supervision..."
“If you’re referring to Heeseung with that vulgar comment, I’m sorry to correct you, but it’s not right to just bash him with words like that,” you went on, leaning your elbows over the counter.
“Please, any guy who sends raunchy dick pics, let alone to a girl he’s not even dating, is a slut, ____,” your step-sister Giselle voiced while walking into the kitchen, dressed in athletic wear as she filled up her water canteen with a lemon flavored electrolyte packet, “not to mention those other weird things he says about your relationship on the stream.”
Despite how much your family claimed to dislike Heeseung, they had no problem with bringing him up every five seconds in a conversation.
You glanced at her through a side eye, shaking your head at the fact that she was just eavesdropping on your conversation, “That was hardly a dick pic, and you should know that better than me, Jizz-elle,” you retorted, putting extra emphasis on the first syllable of her old nickname.
“Yeah, real mature, ____… you can slut shame me but not your little online boyfriend?”
“Ladies!,” your mother raised her voice slightly, pursing her lips at the tension built up between you two, “that’s enough of this discussion…”
You noticed the way your mother’s eyes lingered on your step sister for a moment, “And where do you think you’re going?”
“To the gym,” she answered shortly, walking past your mom and out of the kitchen with haste.
You scoffed out loud, “Not gonna interrogate her like you did to me?,” you said, laughing as if humored when it was really just a way to mask how irritated you were.
“No,” your mom said with a delayed reply, “Giselle is not my blood… I must take her word for what she says to avoid conflict with your step-father… you, on the other hand, will—”
“—abide by your rules… got it,” you finished for her, knowing better than to continue going back and forth with her in this matter.
You left the kitchen, going up to your room and plopping yourself on the bed, staring at the ceiling as you entered into a deep thinking space.
One in which you'd strategize on how to successfully sneak out of the house to hang out with Heeseung tonight.
|Messaging| 💬
You: So, you want me to meet you where again ?
Heeseung: Just take a hard right past the first stop sign from your place and a few steps past that one brown house (pls ignore my Dora ass instructions rn 🗿)
You: ok ok 😭, smart tho !! … that way, none of my neighbors will see your car :D
Heeseung: Exactly. U sure u still wanna do this, tho ?
You: Yeah, ofc ! Had enough of my mom nagging me all day ☝️ I need a release BIG time
Heeseung: Haha, okay then ! I’ll see you at 10:30pm
You: Cya ! 🐒
THE LAST TIME you and Heeseung met in person was back when you were both young teenagers, navigating hormones and puberty while aiming to keep God at the center of it all, so to speak.
You didn’t know what to expect from meeting up with him, and especially not under such circumstances.
Still, you had a pretty good feeling that all this trouble wouldn’t be for nothing.
It was currently 10:34pm as you turned off all the lights in your bedroom, wearing an all black outfit to ensure you weren’t seen.
You double checked to see if you had everything with you before leaving: phone, spare cash, and a well-rehearsed story in case you got caught.
Opening your bedroom window, you stuck out a leg, suddenly feeling thankful for your step-dad giving you the bedroom on the first story of his home.
Both your feet were on the floor now, your hands finding the window sill as you closed the window back, careful not to accidentally lock it back so you would be able to get back in later.
You then followed the instructions Heeseung outlined in your texts, walking a few blocks down and taking a right turn once you reached the stop sign.
That’s when you caught sight of his dimly lit side profile under the lights of his car and through the tinted windows.
His eyes were on his phone until your figure blocked the streetlight that shined in his car, drawing his attention to your face as a smile spread over his own.
His eyes lit up like you were the candle to his soul, stepping out of the sleek black car to come around and give you a hug.
“Oh- hi,” you chuckled shyly, hands hesitating to wrap around him before he pulled away, looking you up and down while bracing your shoulders.
“Hi,” he smiled back, “I was just about to text you when you showed up at my window… nice black fit, by the way.”
“Thanks,” you said in a playful voice, watching as he opened the car door for you to get in.
“Would it be wrong of me to assume your panties match, too?,” he asked teasingly, joining you in the vehicle before pulling out of his parked position and cruising out of the neighborhood.
“Wow, you’re really representing this slut persona of yours, huh?” You teased back, putting on your seatbelt.
“Mostly because I can’t help it,” he shrugged, flashing you a smile before looking back at the road, “the fans ship us anyway, so we might as well commit to it, right?”
“Righttt,” you answered suspiciously, poking his thigh before looking back out the window, “gosh, this is crazy…”
“What is?”
“How long we’ve known each other and still happened to maintain a solid friendship despite the distance.”
“Yea,” he agreed, turning down a lane decorated with flowers that somehow still shined in the dark of the night, “We’d be fools to give up this bond we share, though… fools not to explore it further.”
He pulled into his driveway a few minutes later, showing you around his place before leading you to his bedroom, a familiar sight to you thanks to the streams.
“Oh- you’ve still got your monitors and mic set up?,” you asked curiously, noticing how the screen of his computer was on the streaming website.
“You remember what Danielle said on our last live? About us broadcasting in the same room together sometime…” he started shyly, pushing out another gaming chair for you to sit in.
“You really think it’s a good idea to stream right now?,” you rationalized, watching as he joined you in the nearby seat, “I mean, I’m obviously down for it, but what if my mom sees it again? Or Gisel—”
“I’ve already blocked your mom's account, ____, we should be fine,” he smiled, “and… if not… I’ll exchange another photo with your anonymous tipper for some forgiveness cash,” he shrugged, pouty lips making you melt a little inside. "Deal?"
You always knew that Heeseung was cute, but you didn’t think it was possible for him to get any better looking from behind the screen.
“Okay then,” you agreed with a sigh, hoping that your nerves would calm down once the broadcast started.
Almost instantly, 100 viewers joined when Heeseung pressed the “stream” button.
You both began with greeting everyone, trying to get past the chat’s excitement about finally getting to see you two in the same room together.
yxstar3ject: OMFG YALL ACTUALLY DID IT ❗️ this is the moment we’ve all been waiting for 🤧
Chelbear03: holy fucking fuck, how is she so CALM NEXT TO HIM 😩
mrloverl0ver: everyone in favor of them playing truth or strip for us, spam the chat with W’s
pucca_princxss: hoon, you raging perv- WWWWWWWWWW XD
Chelbear03: ✨ W ✨
laylaspapi: W no homo wait, why's my name pink now ;-;
yxstar3ject: I took orange the other day ~ sawwy Jakey W <3
You watched as the chat box started to flood with W's and other random comments, feeling Heeseung sat a hand on your thigh as if to make you feel more comfortable.
"Alright peeps, chill out with the chat spamming, we see it," Heeseung said, laughing off some of the tension, "It's not like you guys didn't get a free show the other day, anyways," he added.
"I don't know..." you started, voice and logic trailing off as more letter W's filled the screen, "it might be fun?"
"____," Heeseung said more seriously this time, "it's a pointless game, y'know? We're honest with the fans... they already know most of secrets, so its silly to do truth or strip..."
"Great. That'll only make it more challenging for them to get our clothes off then," you smiled, suddenly feeling excited about playing, a bit of your competitiveness rubbing off on the initially cautious boy.
"Fine then... we'll do it," Heeseund said, eliciting a few viewers to send gifts to your broadcast, "I'm gonna need a drink for this first, though."
Heeseung was doing a good job of making it seem like he wasn't totally down for this, even though on the inside, he was mostly concerned with making sure you felt comfortable, too.
He left the room for a moment before coming back with two canned cocktails in his grip, placing them on his desk in front of you two.
"I'm guessing you don't drink much," he said, popping open a can of sugary fizz with his teeth while making eye contact with you, "so take it slow with this, yeah?"
"Sure, dad," you joked, taking a sip from the can, hoping that the alcohol would maintain your fleeting confidence, considering that you'd just agreed to strip in front of hundreds of people online.
Chelbear03: alr, first question heheh, starting easy !! :))) when was the last time you got upset and why
Chelsea was the first to initiate this little "truth or strip" questionnaire. Heeseung read the question out loud before humming to himself in thought.
“Hmm... maybe when I overcooked my ramen this morning?”
"Who eats ramen for breakfast?" You asked with a dry laugh.
"Don't judge me because I have good taste, ____," he replied, shoving your thigh with his knee a bit, "and you're dodging the question..."
"Oh- right," you chuckled shyly, thinking of what to say and whether to be honest, until you remembered the consequence would be to remove a piece of clothing.
“It was um... over some stupid things my stepsister was saying about a friend of mine… also this morning...”
"Does that friend so happen to be me by any chance?," Heeseung asked knowingly, giving you a look that you quickly brushed off.
"Moving on, next question!"
anonymous tipper: name the last person you hooked up with $100 donation on the line here, btw... plus someone's modesty 🙈
Oh God, you thought to yourself, dreading how this anonymous tipper knew you'd do almost anything for money.
It was really a bad trait of yours...
"Wow, just jumping to the extremes, aren't we?," Heeseung mumbled between a sip of his drink, the wet condensation drawing your attention to his glistening digits for a quick second.
How were you just now noticing how thick his fingers ar-
laylaspapi: uh oh someone looks nervous ...
pucca_princxss: mission accomplished 👹👹👹
In all honesty, you didn't really have an answer to that question, but to avoid coming off as prudish, you opted to take a pair of clothing off instead, lifting your hips in your seat to pull your pants down.
"____, what the-" Heeseung started before choking a bit on his drink, not just at your sudden boldness, but at the sight of your lace panties hugging the natural curves of your hips, pants getting bunched up at your ankles before you kicked them off under his desk.
yxstar3ject: 😭😭😭😭 DEFINITELY wasn't expecting that, oml-
Chelbear03: your turn, hee 🙏🙏🙏
Something about how frazzled your usually calm and collected best friend became at the simple act of you undressing before him gave you a feeling of exhilaration.
By now, your top barely covered the flesh of your thighs, a few commenters saying things about "wanting to take a bite" before Heeseung cleared his throat, hoping that they'd stop making things worse for him.
"Well uh, I'm not willing to strip a layer just yet, plus I could use the $100, so I'll be honest..."
The chat stalled momentarily as if everyone watching paused in eager anticipation of who and what Heeseung was going to say.
"It's been a while, I'll admit," he chuckled dryly, staring off as if envisioning it behind his sparkly eyes, "but it was around a year and a half ago... with a girl I'd rather not name, but she was a bit older than me..."
"Oh?," you accidentally said out loud, a strange feeling of happiness washing over you now that you knew he hadn't been with any girl since you two met reconnected. You're not sure why this information made you happy... or maybe you're just not ready to admit how you truly feel about him to yourself yet...
"How'd you two meet? Wait- why am I even asking that," you cringed at your own inevitable curiosity, Heeseung taking delight in how his timidness somehow rubbed back off onto you.
"Nah, it's okay... I'm sure the viewers wouldn't mind a little storytime-"
He adjusted his posture in the chair, eyes scanning a few new comments before he spoke, "I met her during my bad boy stage, I guess you could say... we bonded over the fact that we were both born in October until we eventually started smoking together at a friends house of mine every now and then... she and I were both going through some divorce drama with our parents and uh... we thought fucking would be a good emotional outlet? I don't know, maybe it was more of a distraction, I guess..."
Heeseung didn't expect himself to ramble the way he did, but he wanted you to know the main details, even though he left out a few parts for another time and conversation.
Chelbear03: what would it take for me to be that girl ? just for one night 😔
maindancertypeshit: pretty sure Hee just confirmed he's into older girls, Chels ... and ones with daddy issues at that-
You nearly snorted at the sudden comment, up until you realized who the last one came from.
"Excuse me, but what the hell is a toddler doing on this stream?" Heeseung asked sarcastically, obviously referring to Niki.
pucca_princxss: LMAO, looking for his mommy ofc 🤱 (😏)
maindancertypeshit: ayo, wtf??? so dani's allowed but I'm not?? hmph >:{
maindancertypeshit has left the stream
You sighed while laughing slightly, taking a sip of the drink as water droplets now dripped unto your thighs, Heeseung's eyes doing a terrible job of not staring.
"I say we do one more round before ending the stream," you offered, looking at the time as you knew you'd wanna spend more private time with Heeseung before having to run back home.
yxstar3ject: BOOOOOOOO :(
Chelbear03: im too pressed abt riki rn to give a damn bro did NAWT have to dish me the truth like that 😭😭
mrloverl0ver: ok ok, let's make this last question worth it then hmmm ...
Sunghoon typed in thought, just as the bulb in Heeseungs side lamp suddenly shattered, the loss of light coupled with it's piercing sound making you jolt in your seat, half of your canned cocktail spilling on your shirt and chest.
"Shit," Heeseung swore under his breath, happy that none of your drink or any glass from the lightbulb got on his streaming equipment.
That's when he noticed you shivering a bit, the cold liquid contrastingly with the warmth of your body.
"C-can you grab me a towel please?," you asked softly, Heeseung taking the can from your grasp and leaving the room with haste to grab a damp and dry cloth for you.
"Here," he offered when he came back, hooking his hands at the hem of your top and pulling it over your head in one swift movement, making you gasp out loud.
You were now half-naked in front of your best friend, not to mention the tons of people watching from their digital screens.
"Heeseung, what're you-"
He was now taking off his own shirt, holding it in one hand while he wiped your chest down with the cloths he held in the other.
There was something about the way his eyes looked while wiping down your boobs, coming off as romantic despite the awkward nature of the situation.
"Put this on," he whispered so quietly you almost missed it, snaking your head through the head hole of his T-shirt while he flicked the ceiling light on, your mind running in a hundred different directions in this moment.
You're not sure if it had something to do with the alcohol, but your skin still tingled in the spots where his fingertips grazed your flesh... just like old times...
You don't think you ever put on a T-shirt faster in your life, wanting to cover up as fast as you could despite how everyone had already gotten a free show from the both of you.
laylaspapi: B👀BS ?!?!? caught in 4k? just like that !?!??!????
mrloverl0ver: guess that means the games over now since y'all started stripping regardless ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
pucca_princxss: I think Heeseung's house might b haunted :'0
Chelbear03: HEESEUNGS FUCKING ABS RN- IS HE TRYING TO KILL ME !??!?
yxstar3ject: 👁👄👁
The chat was going crazy at this point, their flood of comments honestly being the last thing on your mind as you sat bottomless in Heeseung's gaming chair, wearing his T-shirt as he searched for another shirt somewhere behind you.
A billion emotions were coursing through your veins, still trying to grasp how you went from sneaking out your bedroom window, stripping in front of an audience, and getting flustered from the mere presence of Heeseung now.
"Alright guys, this was fun but we're gonna call it a night for now," Heeseung said as he came back into frame, not even bothering to sit back down as his right hand found the mouse, moving it towards the end stream button.
"Yeah, I think my streaming career might end here," you added jokingly, making Heeseung chuckle a bit at your words, his bright smile doing nothing but make your stomach flutter all over again.
What was going on with you?
"Who knows? Maybe we can work on starting an OnlyFans together ..."
"Heeseung-"
"I'm kidding," he laughed again, looking at your face from the screen, not even aware of how he bit his lip before speaking, "you look pretty on camera though, for what its worth."
The all-too familiar tune of the livestream ending rang in your ears, the screen displaying stats of the broadcast engagement, which surpassed any and every stream you've ever filmed before.
"Wow," Heeseung marveled, just as he shut his computer off.
"I know," you added, stretching your back while sitting, "we don't even reach stats like that in a week..."
"I wasn't talking about the ratings, ____," he returned, the room seeming much more quiet now that the computer was off, even though it's been this way the whole time.
"Enough about that, though," he started again, taking your hands in his to pull you out of the chair, "I haven't been a very good host to you this evening... making you work first thing before properly treating you... allow me to make up my lacking..."
"I mean... you gave me a nice seat and something to drink... you even lended me one of your shirts after I made a big mess of myself," you replied while giggling, feeling silly as he held both of your hands while speaking formally all of a sudden.
"Yes, yes, but I'm serious," he continued, now guiding you down to the rug lying in the middle of his bedroom floor, "you still like candy, right?"
ALMOST ANOTHER HOUR had passed and it was somewhere around midnight give or take, you and Heeseung hardly feeling tired as you sat on the mat together, alternating between eating orange slices and gummy bears.
You were propped up on your elbows, a glow still present on his face from the laughter you've shared together so far, even though there was something less innocent you wanted to get off your chest.
You were feeling completely reckless already, and you figured it wouldn’t hurt for you to push things a little further.
Besides, it’s not everyday that a girl like you gets an opportunity like this just placed in her lap.
It's just like Heeseung said, you'd be a fool to give up this bond you two share and not explore it further...
Plus, you weren't sure how much longer you could hide behind the good girl act.
Giselle was right: Heeseung had sex written in full length parables all up and down his six-foot-something body, and you'd be lying if you said it didn't turn you on.... if you said it didn't reel you in, like a burning desire to explore what's corrupted.
To be ruined.
"Heeseung," you started, making him look down at you as he sat with his legs crossed, hair messy from the amount of times he ran a hand through it, "can I ask you something?... It's... kinda personal..."
He popped another strawberry flavored gummy bear into his mouth, "As long as it isn't about your period, I should be good to help you then," he chuckled slightly.
"And what makes you think that I need help with something?"
"Hmm… maybe just that way that your nails keep picking with my wrist watch right now," he answered quietly, drawing your attention to your fingers which tend to get busy whenever you were nervous.
"Oh- I... I didn't even realize...," you laughed at yourself, shying your hands away before sitting up and hiding them in your lap.
"Well go on," he urged, looking back at you with warmth in his eyes, taking off his glasses and setting them aside, "What'd you wanna ask me?"
You let out a breath, clenching your thighs a bit as your sight fell between his legs.
Fuck, did he just laugh? God, he definitely noticed your peeking... you fucking perver-
"I don't really know how to word this but..." you chewed on your lip in thought, "Sometimes... when it's just you and me alone like this... even when we're just video chatting... I feel," you looked up at the ceiling as if it'd help you divulge, "I don't really know what to call it."
He blinked at your words, adjusting his sitting position on the ground, "Are there certain things I do or say that make you feel... whatever it is that you can't explain?" He asked, tilting his head at you, just as his hand inched closer to you on the rug, but not quite touching your skin yet.
"Its a few things, actually-"
"Like what?" His hand was now on your thigh, eyes glued on your shaky figure even though you avoided eye contact, lost in the veins that trailed the pretty skin of his arm.
"When you touch me," you whispered so quietly, the only reason he heard you was because he read your lips, thinking in his own mind what it'd be like to taste them, "like that."
"Speak up for me, I can hardly hear you," he urged, almost as if cooing at you.
"I can't," you said shakily, chest expanding slightly with each heavy breath you took in and let out.
Your idea of being bold was starting to backfire... if only you could stop being so awkward about this for one second-
"It's just me, ____," he whispered with a slight chuckle this time, your hands finding the fluffy rug beneath you as your skin still stung from where he'd last touched you, "be as honest with me as you need."
"Maybe it's best we just pretend I never said anything," your voice trailed off, regretting having looked into his dark eyes that stared back at yours because you felt as though your shield had faltered, his energy coaxing your mind to wander.
"Would you mind if I took a guess?," Heeseung offered with an expression you couldn't read, but you nodded anyway, just as his hand traveled further up your thigh, your breath hitching in your chest as you felt his finger tips meet your core.
"You feel something in here, don't you?," he whispered again, "Hurts, doesn't it?"
Like hunger pains, you answered in your head, finding his shoulder as half of you thought to push him away while the other half just needed to touch him.
You nodded shyly in response, thankful that he didn't move any further so you could catch your breath, already too effected by his actions.
"I feel it sometimes, too. The aching... but I'm sure you're old enough to know there's only one way to get rid of it."
You didn't even have to ask to know what he was implying, feeling tempted to give in to whatever this urge was.
He was right though. It did ache, and so badly, your own core tearing up with a need you never intended to entertain.
That's when his touch creeped closer to your core, your thighs closing around his hand as you struggled to think clearly.
You almost couldn't in a state like this.
It baffled you how the energy was starting to change, but it was only a matter of time that you'd be able to sit bottom less in front of Heeseung looking the way he does before something sexual would happen.
"Are you willing to let me help you?" He asked, gripping your flesh between his hands as a shy sound fell from your lips.
You were having second thoughts.
"As much as I'd like to, Hee, it just doesn't seem right anymore..."
Even though this was all your idea to begin with-
"But doesn't it feel right?" he pressed, feeling his hands gently pry your thighs back open, but its not like you were putting up much of a fight either, "Besides, you wouldn't have told me if you didn't want me to do something about it..."
In this moment, you couldn't care less about maintaining that fleeting sense of virtue all the elders in your life harped on growing up.
You were simply young, horny, lovesick, and in need of a release.
Before you knew it, your legs were parted for him, your back against the rug as his head got comfortable at your heat, fingers barely grazing over your now bare cunt before he started leaving plush kisses against your sweet spot.
The ache was definitely still there, but having him this close to you made it feel better.
Almost too good, honestly…
“Heeseung-” you cried out, clamming your thighs around his head as you felt his thick and warm tongue enter you.
Hooking his hands at your knees, it helped to open you back up for him, feeling your stomach tighten as he continued to lick you down.
“I’m still here, baby…” he cooed, looking back up at you, just as your phone started to ding, "relax for me, alright?"
It was a few random messages here and there, you being too pleasure-drunk to give a damn as he continued lapping at your slick, alternating between one and two fingers as he teased your hole, only making you want more.
“Fuck…s- someone’s calling me,” you whined, propping up on your elbows with tired eyes as you reached for your phone, seeing none other than Giselle's contact number as Heeseung left your core, getting on his knees and unbuckling his belt.
"What're you-"
Your words were cut off as he leaned closer into you, his bulge resting in between your folds as he looked into your eyes and said, "Answer it."
He was already rocking against your pussy as you struggled to stay focused, his boxers being covered in your slick just from how wet you'd gotten, even though you nodded no.
“You want me to help you, don’t you?” He continued, completely aware of your stalling and hesitance as the phone continued to ring, your breathing only getting heavier as he kept grinding against you.
You bit your lip, clenching around nothing as his fingers cascaded over your sensitive spot. Heeseung practically drooled at the sight, your tight little cunt all slick and messy for him.
"Hello?" Giselle asked over the phone, "where the hell are you right now?"
Fuck.
You watched nervously as Heeseung pulled his boxers past his hips, his thickness springing up now that it was finally free to breathe.
"What're you talking about, I was just in my room," you lied terribly, watching Heeseung with pleading eyes as he lined himself up with your entrance, bracing a hand on you lower abdomen while glaring back at you, a glint of playfulness in his doe eyes.
Oh, the way you wanted to smack him across his pretty face right now-
"I wasn't born yesterday, ____. I checked your room an hour ago and you're still not here. Tell me where you are," she continued, voice cracking a bit as you winced through a bitten lip, thanks to Heeseung somehow having slid his thickness inside you.
Well, most of the way, at least...
"____?"
"Y-yes, I'm listening, just- don't worry about me, I'll be back in a bit-"
"That still doesn't answer my question, ____..."
Thud.
You accidentally dropped your phone beside your head once Heeseung pushed all the way in now, leaving a few kisses along your neck to help you calm down.
His hips were still, but for some reason, your breathing remained shaky beneath him, your step-sister still awaiting your reply on the other side of the phone.
"Call you later," you said in a squeaky voice, reaching over to hang up the phone as Heeseung started to move again, your legs trembling a bit as the nerves in your mind traveled through your whole body.
"Now that wasn't so hard, was it?" He asked sarcastically, hand following a trail from your waist, over your boob, then to your neck, goosebumps sprouting on your skin as you suddenly felt cold, your body internally shivering.
"Hee," you said with a whimper, feeling his grip loosen around your neck before he started thrusting into your walls, your slick providing just enough lubrication for him to slide in and out easily.
You couldn't even think in your mind at this point, his actions already becoming more than you could handle given how new everything was.
How nice he felt.
"C'mon, don't get quiet on me now, baby, I just started," he teased, slamming his pelvis against yours to hopefully reel a moan out of you, which obviously worked, your hand flying up to grip the fluffy rug over your head as it became harder to hide your sounds.
He hissed at the feeling of you clenching around him, a smile tugging at the corner of his mouth as he looked into your eyes.
"So either you like it when I'm rough with you or when I call you baby..." he started in a low voice, "which is it?"
"M-maybe both... now can you stop trying to turn me on with your words for one fucking second?," you asked with labored breaths, feeling your orgasm creep up on you a lot sooner than anticipated.
Sure, this was your first time, but you were glad he didn't treat you like a baby during the whole thing.
There was just something about the way his voice sounded in this moment, the way he was rutting into you like a horny teenager that took you over the edge.
And he was being such a tease, trying to make you talk knowing that your sentences would be broken and whiney thanks to how rough he was going.
He wanted to hear you falling apart underneath him.
He let out the most attractive chuckle you'd ever heard at your words, "But I can tell it's working," he smirked, bracing himself against the floor so you could wrap your legs around him better, "now quit your complaining and keep taking me like a good girl, alright?"
You're sure your clit started doing backflips at the pet-name, coupled with the pretty sounds he was very intentionally humming beneath your ear.
He found your wrists on the rug, sliding up to your hands and interlacing his fingers with yours,
“Stop trying to act tough, I can tell this is all new to you…. don’t even know what to do with your hands, huh?” his said, watching as your eyes get lost in the view of his shaggy hair.
He snickered, “you can touch it if you want…”
Fuck, you thought to yourself. You don’t know why you felt the need to put on some act for him… maybe it was because you assumed a competition between yourself and other girls he’s been with, even though in reality, you’d been the only girl on his mind for a while now.
“I…,” you started with a stutter, “I can’t.”
Your fingers were still interlaced with his, but your inability to touch him had less to do with the fact that he had you pinned down, and more so to do with your nerves.
As badly as he wanted to keep toying with your head in this moment, he could you were getting closer from how your breath kept hitching, so he didn’t have much time to play.
Releasing his grip from your hands, he brought a thumb to your chin, tapping at it for you to open your mouth, “I’m gonna speed up now then, okay?”
He choked out, his own head becoming a little fuzzy as you parted your lips obediently for him, the sight of your tongue laving at his fingers being enough to make him feel like cumming.
He knew you had to get home quick now, but he still wanted to give you the best orgasm of your life.
Once he collected enough of your spit on his fingers, he slid his hand down, circling your swollen bud while looking into your eyes, your hands automatically flying to his shoulders to brace yourself.
“Fuck, Heeseung~,” you cursed with furrowed brows, whimpers that almost sounded like high pitched hiccups falling from your lips as you felt your hips chase his.
There was so much energy coursing through both of your bodies that it could charge your dying phone on the floor right now.
“It’s okay baby, you’re almost- shit, you’re almost there,” he grunted weakly as he continued fucking into your walls with his fingers at your clit, his own eyes closing at how good your tightness felt around him.
You never heard yourself sound like this before, getting all whiny just as he whispered the words “Come for me” against your neck, sealing the space with a kiss and retreating his hand from your core, holding you in place as your orgasm hit like a flood.
You were squirming so much, walls pulsating like a drum as he kissed you down, your hands finally being brave enough to grip at his hair while he rode out your high.
You could tell that he didn’t finish inside you, but he was nice enough to slow down and not fuck you completely stupid.
“I can’t even believe we just did that,” you mumbled mindlessly, eyes staring back at him as he started to gently caressed your cheek.
“Wasn’t too bad for a quickie though, right?,” he asked jokingly while still inside you, not quite yet ready to pull out of your comforting warmth.
To say goodbye to the you he brought out in this sex-filled space.
“No… it wasn’t bad at all,” you smiled back, words sounding somewhere in between a shocking realization and sincere compliment.
“Then I guess that means we can look forward to doing this more often-”
“Heeseung-”
“Kidding,” he whispered softly, meeting your lips in one last kiss before leaning back up to adjust his pants, “now let’s get you cleaned up and ready for home before your mom has me crucified.”
“Okay,” you said while laughing slightly until he pulled out of you, your legs trembling a bit from the missing fullness.
From the feeling in his chest, Heeseung came to fully accept that he was 110% in love with you, not giving a flying fuck about the naysayers who’d disapprove of your now-even-more-complicated friendship.
You on the other hand, came to realize that Heeseung was worth much more than being judged by a bunch of hypocrites, and that you now had the courage to make a lot of your own decisions now, even if they’re solely for the sake of pleasure.
”Still,” you continued, watching as he stood up from the ground to grab a pack of wipes from his desk, “I just remembered that I locked my bedroom window when I left.”
“That’s a good thing, right?” He asked while parting your legs, wiping your sweaty thighs down with your panties hunched up in his other hand.
You admired the view of him cleaning you up with adoration flooding your heart, your limbs letting themselves relax as feathery words fell from your lips, “It means I might have to spend the night at your place for a little longer…”

Ch.3: Don’t Hold Your Breath for a Break
A/N: Hiiii, sorry I’ve been away for so long. 🥺 Life has been pretty stressful. But, I’m back now, new chapter, whoo! I have had this on my mind for a while now, and finally got the chance to incorporate it into this chapter~ I really do hope you enjoy the arrival of the next BTS member to show up, whose dynamics with Y/N are already among my favorites. Also, always feel free to chat with me about this fic if you’d like, I don’t bite and thrive on the engagement! 🤗 I wanna know if anyone wants to guess what is going on or has figured it out yet. This chapter is especially dedicated to the blog who had a super easy tutorial on how to keep your formatting from google docs to tumblr!! Saved me a lot of time. Hehe *PLEASE do not ask about the taglist in this story’s comments*
In the days that followed, Y/N completely fell down a rabbit hole. It felt prudent to look more into BTS, or more specifically, Park Jimin. From a strictly legal perspective and nothing more.
After all, she was sure his attorneys would be sending a court summons any day now just as soon as they managed to find out her identity and track her down. It was something she lived in fear of.
Binna was none-the-wiser that the reason she suddenly seemed so attentive about the band’s recent lives was because she wanted to know if they’d mentioned anything. Any clues that would tell Y/N when her days as a free person were coming to an end.
Honestly, she hadn’t found much. Nothing that would be helpful in allowing her to participate in her own legal defense. Speaking of that, could she even afford an attorney that would be able to stand up against Park Jimin’s? She was sure a global superstar would have the best in the country.
Y/N listlessly scrolled through yet more photos of Jimin—looking for hidden meanings in the recent videos the group had posted was starting to make her feel like she was overreacting at best and paranoid at worst.
There were pictures of him with a variety of hair colors and outfits, taken over time, and he was flawless in all of them. Even ones she came across where he wasn’t glammed out in full makeup made it obvious he was just one of the lucky ones, naturally born attractive.
“How many wardrobe malfunctions can one person have throughout their career?” Y/N found herself muttering, spying yet another photo where Jimin’s fancy jacket was sliding down his arm. “Is he allergic to keeping his shirt on his shoulders?”
Though, given how many fan compilations existed that compiled every single moment where Jimin’s shirt or jacket hadn’t quite managed to stay all the way on, it didn’t seem like there were many complaints. Army was swooning and swooning hard if anything.
But really, being sued within an inch of her life wasn’t even the worst part about it all. If someone saw the “notes” section of her phone, they’d have her committed first, and ask questions later. She’d have her committed, under normal circumstances.
Because what she had experienced not once, but twice? It went against everything she stood for. Logical, grounded, a firm believer in science and fact. Facts didn’t support phenomena like getting sucked through a mirror and ending up in an idol’s dance studio.
Facts didn’t support seeing the face of another idol—because she now knew the reason the man in the mirror looked vaguely familiar was because he was another BTS member, Seokjin—instead of her own reflection when she went to brush her teeth. It just…didn’t make sense.
Science couldn’t support it. It was nuts. Yet it happened to her. And that was the only reason she believed it. Too bad no one else would. Or worse, if and when Jimin announced he’d be pressing charges for assault, and she had confessed beforehand to someone…it would probably be taken as evidence the attack was premeditated.
Sure, they’d have to prove how she got in. But…but still! She couldn’t risk it. Wouldn’t. Which meant her phone was her only safe secret-keeper. They were co-conspirators in it all.
Speaking of the damned cursed thing… trying to outright return it hadn’t worked, even though she had the receipt and everything! She still remembered the bizarre events that day.
Y/N was almost out of breath by the time she entered the phone store, embarrassingly worked up in front of the few strangers milling around inside. She got a few curious, side-long glances, and then they went back to perusing the inventory.
“Welcome!” Called an employee already speaking to other customers. “Someone will assist you shortly.”
Y/N gave a short, affirmative nod, trying not to come off anxious as she glanced around. Everything looked…the same as the night she had bought the phone. Shiny new models on display, the monitor above their heads playing a loop of advertisements for different Samsung products, and everything neatly put away and organized. Absently, she began to think over the store’s layout, and the fact that it could have a strong subconscious effect on the consumer. Organization of inventory could actually play a role in whether or not someone wanted to buy something.
But, putting that aside, the store didn’t look like the kind of place that would sell someone a phone that would ruin their life. Looks could be deceiving, though. Who knew what was actually afoot?
“Oh, can I help you, miss?” A middle-aged woman wearing the store’s polo top came over with a tag that said her name was Hayoung asked in an attentive tone.
Y/N was quick to nod. “I’m here to make a return, actually. I bought a phone from your store not long ago.”
“Was the item not to your liking?” Hayoung asked, guiding her over to an available station.
The university student glanced down at the phone in question, which she’d placed back in the original purchase box. “You could…say that.” She mumbled. “I’ve thought about it, and I really don’t need anything even half this fancy.” Telling the woman she thought the phone might have it in for her was out of the question. “So I’d like to exchange it for something simpler.”
Hayoung dutifully accepted the box, scanning the barcode and then lifting up the lid. Y/N had anticipated a smooth return in which she’d flash her receipt, maybe some ID, and have the exchange completed in no time. But when Hayoung’s brow furrowed, she knew she wouldn’t like whatever the saleswoman was going to say.
“Is…is something wrong?”
“Well,” she paused, “Are you sure you purchased your phone here? From this store? I know we’ve had models similar to this in stock before, but this one’s just not ringing up.”
“Really?” Y/N shook her head, rummaging around in her purse. “I don’t see how that could be. I have the receipt if that helps…”
She then proceeded to go through her small purse, searching the exact spot she knew she had folded and placed the receipt. “Um, hold on a minute please,” Hayoung waited expectantly as Y/N kept looking, growing increasingly more frustrated as she turned the contents of her purse inside out hunting for the receipt.
No, no way was she ever that careless. She had made sure she put it into her purse before leaving the apartment, and she didn’t exactly care that much in it to begin with! It was all zipped up tight, so how could it have fallen out?!
It took several more long, awkward moments of searching futilely in vein for her to realize it was true. The receipt was no where to be found. Trying to fight down the flush of defeat crossing her cheeks, Y/N cleared her throat, speaking diplomatically, “I’m sorry, I don’t seem to have my receipt on hand after all. I guess I’ll just…try to search it out and return when I do.”
“Oh, there’s no need. Our system can search for and find the purchase if you happen to have the card on hand.”
Y/N wanted to slump over in defeat, “Actually my friend bought it…”
“Oh,” Hayoung tilted her head, “Do you happen to know the account number used?”
Y/N mentally wondered if Binna was free. She shouldn’t be in class right now, right? So it would be okay to quickly give her a call and get this sorted out. She had to leave the store without this phone. That was a must!
“H-Hold on please!” It was a little embarrassing, snatching the phone she had been trying to return from its box and powering it on. In anticipation of making the return, Y/N had thought to wipe it and remove the SIM card chip, but then recalled hearing it was best to do that at the store when the transaction was complete, in case there was something forgotten on the phone that still needed to be retrieved.
Hastily scrolling down the admittedly short contacts’ list, Y/N located Binna’s number and pressed the button to dial. The phone rang three times, and she anxiously tapped her foot as she waited to see if her friend would pick up. ‘Please, Bin. Come on. Please.’
Of course, as it always was when she needed something to work out, it didn’t quite go smoothly. Binna hadn’t picked up, and she had ended up ending the call right before it switched to voice mail. Typing out a text message asking for the information she needed, Y/N had glared spitefully down at the phone.
“Do you recall the name of the clerk who sold you the phone?” Hayoung asked gently.
Y/N thought it over, the sales associate’s face floating to mind. “Yes, his name was Suk-kyu.”
“Hmm, that name doesn’t sound familiar.” Hayoung shook her head. “I’ve been employed here three years and never heard anyone go by that name,”
It was unlike her, but Y/N felt she was entitled to a bit of out of character behavior when her jaw actually dropped. “You’re kidding…”
But, Hayoung assured her, she was not. She didn’t think they had ever carried the exclusive Army Edition of the phone. She didn’t know who Suk-kyu was, and Y/N couldn’t find her receipt, the only bit of evidence that might have been able to successfully lift the burden of the phone from her person. She had left the store, apologizing for wasting the patient woman’s time, and feeling like she was at least partially going crazy.
Needless to say, Y/N had been…anxious about the phone since then. A bit scared, even. A fear she had no choice but to shoulder in silence for the time being. There wasn’t much she could do but continue searching high and low for the receipt and hope it turned up soon.
In the meantime, she didn’t let on that anything was wrong, using the phone like before, though limiting that to when it was really necessary. No more playing around with it or downloading apps. Nope, she didn’t want to risk getting too attached to the thing.
The only thing she did besides make calls was research. Things she never would have thought about looking up before. Like, unexplained phenomena with electronics, most of which led to completely wild conspiracy theories or dead ends.
Y/N had been so engrossed in breaking her brain over what to do, she jumped when the apartment door swung open, turning around on the coach to see Binna march in, a few grocery bags in her hands. Keys in her mouth, she gently kicked the door closed, humming to herself until she happened to look up and spot Y/N.
“Oh!” Binna hustled into the small kitchen to set her bags down, then her keys. “Y/N, didn’t expect to see you here right now. You’ve got class today, right?”
“It was canceled…” she sighed, sliding down the couch cushions and placing her phone on the coffee table. “The professor’s out sick with the flu.”
Binna winced in sympathy. “Yikes, poor guy…”
“Yeah,” Y/N took great care not to get sick, so she hadn’t so much as had a cold in years, but she still remembered times when she was a child in bed with chills, body aches and a fever. Once she had even had pneumonia, her mother forced to call out from work and nurse her back to health. “He just wanted us to go over the assignment we’ve been working on since the start of the semester. You know, take this as independent study time basically. But…”
“Buuut, knowing you,” Binna smiled, “You’ve already taken the initiative and gotten a head start a long time ago, so you’re ahead of everyone else.”
“Done, actually,” Y/N confirmed, not afraid to admit to her efficiency.
Her roommate made a noise of encouragement as she began to put the groceries away. It didn’t look like much. A loaf of bread, some bottles of sauce they’d been running low on, some eggs and a carton of milk.
“That’s great, since it actually kind of works out. Chin-Mae and Min Su invited me to check out this new steak house that just opened up. I heard reservations are booked out for weeks already, but thanks to Min Su’s connections, we can go this evening. What do you say?” Binna wiggled her eyebrows, trying to entice Y/N.
“Alright, I’m in,” she agreed.
“Because I’m sure they won’t mind adding just one more to our party, especially if that person is you…” Binna continued to ramble.
“Bin, did you hear me?” Y/N clucked, pinching the bridge of her nose. “I said I’m in.”
Eyes round as the eggs she had put away, Binna blinked, nodded, and finally broke out into an ear to ear grin. “Oh, wow, that’s new. I m-mean not that it isn’t great you wanna join us, but…”
“What?” Y/N felt a little defensiveness creeping up on her, and she probably didn’t do the best job completely hiding it from her tone. “You made the invite, and you said Min Su and Chin-Mae would be fine with it. Did you not…really want me to come along?”
They thought she would kill the mood, the nasty little whisper entered her head unbidden. They thought she was so stuffy and boring.
“What, Y/N, no!” Binna immediately denied, “I’m really glad you can make it,” she shot over to the couch, wrapping her arms around her friend’s neck from behind as she bent over for the hug. “It’s true you normally put up a little more resistance when we ask you to come somewhere. You stay so busy, so I was a little surprised is all. But I’m glad you’re agreeing.”
Y/N’s tense shoulders relaxed, and she mentally sighed to herself, feeling silly. Of course, of course her friends wanted her there. And this was Binna, who struggled to have a bad thought about anybody. Secretly resentful definitely wasn’t her style.
But with the stress she had been under, and the dread she’d done her best not to give into, Y/N could admit her nerves had been on edge. “Yeah, sorry about that…” she laughed weakly, reaching up and patting one of the arms looped around her neck. “I don’t know where that came from, but I’m happy to eat a little steak if Min Su’s recommending it.” The man had the best luck finding good places to eat, or stores that sold exactly what you were looking for but probably overlooked.
“Good girl,” Binna uncoiled her arms and leaned back against the couch itself. “That’s the spirit. And hey, I heard from some of the girls in the campus’ BTS fan club that one of the guys on campus might be related to one of the waiters who might have catered the food on the set of a music video for Taehyung!”
She said it in a breathy squeal, and Y/N couldn’t help but smile indulgently. She was almost sure she knew which one Taehyung was, but she still wouldn’t put money on it. It might just as soon be someone else. Maybe Namjoon?
She’d gotten more familiar with their names but as most of her time perusing videos and photos had been spent investigating Jimin, she wasn’t entirely sure on the others’ faces. Well, besides Jin and J-Hope.
“Nice,” she said, letting Binna get all her gushing out as she texted Chin-Mae just to make sure it really was okay if she tagged along. Stupid to be anxious about feeling unsure if everyone really wanted her to come, but better to be safe than sorry.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
She was impressed the minute they walked through the door. Min Su stopped trying to sneak an arm around Chin-Mae’s waist and immediately went over to talk to the maître d. The two men spoke cordially, the head waiter confirmed their reservation, and then they were led to their table with a flourish.
Binna was practically bouncing on her heels, squealing under her breath. “Can you believe this place?” she whispered excitedly, “I feel like a movie star, coming here.”
The restaurant was definitely lavish, so she understood where her friend was coming from. The tables were polished stained oak, and lit by a candle to provide ambiance, and the floors were a gorgeous brown tile that Y/N suspected to be marble.
The restaurant was done in a mixture of black, gold with high beam wood ceilings and low atmospheric lighting. They walked past a bar, long and oval, with shimmering glasses the team of bartender would pull down as they did impressive tricks to wow the gathered guests.
“It’s one of the hottest spots in Gangnam right now,” Chin-Mae commented as they sat down. The table comfortably fit the four of them, and everyone got settled as a young woman hurried over, handing them menus and introducing herself.
“This is so cool,” Binna exclaimed, still wiggling in place. She shook Y/N’s arm. She was all done up with some icy blue eye shadow that matched her aqua dress, and a more subtle plum shade of lipstick.
Her hair was secured in a complicated twist by a pin she recognized from the last time they had gone shopping together. Y/N adjusted the shawl draped over her shoulders, pulling down her own strapless dress. Binna had helped her pick accessories, which were mostly shades of amber or gold, and apply some light makeup.
Y/N chuckled, nodding as she scanned the menu, trying her best to ignore the listed prices. She had come fully prepared to pay her own way, but Min Su insisted the meal was going to be on him. It must have been nice.
The perks of being from an affluent family, she supposed. The guy was already well on his way to being a successful lawyer, following the family tradition. He had moved all the way from his hometown in China to come and work on his master’s degree at one of the top universities in Korea, just for a change of pace. “Thanks again for letting us crash your date night, guys.” Binna beamed.
“Please,” Chin-Mae scoffed lightly, not looking up from his menu. “What was I supposed to do all evening? Talk to him?”
Min Su pouted, but it didn’t diminish the fond glow in his eyes as he leaned over his boyfriend’s shoulder and whispered something in his ear that gave Chin-Mae pause.
Their friend cut a sharp look at his partner, smacking his thigh and then proceeding to ignore the man who was happily leaning into him and commenting on the menu. Yeah, nothing new there. Min Su was totally gone on Chin-Mae, as always.
There was nothing about Chin-Mae’s bluntness or dismissive attitude in public that ever put him off. If anything, the mean behavior only served to make Min Su try harder. Though, she and Binna both knew Chin-Mae wouldn’t be with someone this long if he wasn’t just as serious about them.
He was just a straight shooter, raised in a family that wasn’t completely accepting of who he was, and unfortunately awkward and out of his depth about how to handle someone as affectionate and doting as the man he happened to fall in love with.
They were well suited in that regard. Min Su was patient and persistent enough to shower Chin-Mae in all the attention he needed to overcome the lingering doubts about being worthy of such deep love and devotion.
Y/N was perfectly fine, pursuing the path she was. Career goals first, everything else second. But sometimes, watching them, a little envy did ignite.
It must have been nice to find something like that, and she was truly happy for them. It didn’t seem likely she’d have time in the near future to go out and chase it for herself, of course. And she wasn’t really worried about it.
“So, what’ll it be for you guys?” Y/N cleared her throat, interrupting the warm and cozy silence they’d all been existing in.
“Ohh, I think I’m gonna have the smoked chicken and spinach salad, and a side of the fried mushrooms,” Binna announced, tongue poking out in concentration as her finger followed where the items she wanted were on the menu.
“You’re going so easy on him.” Chin-Mae remarked. “I’m getting the iron skillet trout,” he squinted, leaning further into the menu. Min Su only smiled, plucking the reading glasses from Chin Mae’s breast pocket that he had forgotten to put on and placing them on his face for him.
The absent-minded pat he got on the hand for it made the law student’s whole face light up. “And the chicken fried steak. That okay, babe?” He might not have looked it, exactly, but Chin-Mae had a healthy appetite. And if they were coming to such an exclusive restaurant for the first time, it wasn’t surprising he wouldn’t be keen to hold back.
Min Su was nodding encouragingly before Chin-Mae had even fully gotten the question out of his mouth. “And what about you, Y/N?”
She clammed up slightly, having been looking at the menu, mentally ruling out what seemed too expensive, or wasn’t quite her taste. “Uh, the pot roast sounds like a filling entree.”
“And?” Chin-Mae prodded, interlocking his hands together and leaning on them.
“And nothing,” Y/N shook her head. “It comes with two sides, that’s more than enough.”
“Boo,” Her friend hissed dramatically. “Fine. If neither one of you is going to take advantage of this, then I guess it’s up to me.”
Their waitress returned with a tray of drinks at precisely that moment, and as she set them down in front of the correct person, everyone began telling her their orders, which she jotted down without missing a beat.
Only Min Su had actually ordered any steak, but, given the price of a 24 oz there was just no way she felt comfortable doing that to the poor guy, even if he was a good sport about it and more than capable of handling a large bill.
As they sat, sipping their champagne and waiting on the food, something Y/N had been putting off thinking about started floating through her mind. Ever since the whole Jimin fiasco, despite her deep diving and frantic searching, nothing had turned up that indicated anyone was coming after her.
But she just wasn’t willing to believe she’d gotten away that easily. She almost killed a celebrity. And, due to that, she’d really wanted to seek legal advice from Min Su, under the guise of some far-fetched hypothetical, of course. Her friends weren’t onto her, and she couldn’t give them a reason to be.
She just had to find a way to casually broach the topic…
“Oh,” Binna gasped from her side, drawing the whole table’s attention to herself. She was carefully scrolling her phone with a freshly manicured nail, scowling slightly. It was so rare that Binna displayed any actual disdain, it had Y/N a bit curious.
“What’s wrong, Bin?”
“It’s nothing,” she replied immediately, then paused. “Well it’s not nothing but, it’s just…I really wished we lived in a world that respected idols as people, you know? Some people call themselves fans and act like famous people aren’t allowed to have any boundaries.” She then went on to describe how there’d been another sasaeng incident reported on a news site she followed to keep up with celebrity gossip.
Apparently, it was a pretty serious one, and crazed ‘fans’ had attacked an actress a well-known idol was reported to be dating. Her bodyguard had fended them off, but the actress still went to the hospital with some injuries.
Y/N perked up slightly, but Min Su and Chin-Mae were thankfully too engrossed in listening to Binna rant to notice. It would be much easier to bring up her question using the information Binna had just provided them as a pretext.
It was about time she had a stroke of good luck. Stopping to think it over, Y/N cringed. Not that she wasn’t sympathetic to the poor woman who had been harmed because of someone’s delusions. But it just…presented an opportunity she had to take, and….
‘Oh, why am I trying to rationalize it to myself?! I should just ask the question before the subject changes.’
That decided, she opened her mouth and spoke, doing her best to make it seem as casual as possible. “So Min Su, you’re practically a lawyer. What kind of charges could that person face? Attacking a celebrity and inflicting bodily harm isn’t the same as harassing them for a photo.”
Y/N silently patted herself on the back, sitting from her glass with an expression carefully schooled to look only mildly interested. Inside was another matter. She was rocking back in forth, heart hammering and eyes wide, waiting for an answer with baited breath.
“Hmm, well, I’ve mostly studied corporate law.” He admitted, playing with a ring on his index finger, “But I do know that given the severity, it’s likely both the actress and the company she’s represented under will press charges. Things are also moving faster these days, prosecuting people who do things like that.”
Y/N swallowed, eyes fixated on Min Su’s thoughtful expression. “There were also witnesses, so it’s very likely to result in a conviction.” Yes, there had been a witness in her case too. Well, J-Hope had only seen her fleetingly. Maybe. Hopefully not. But if she was on any camera then…it was most definitely over for her.
“The court could go light on them if it was a first offense…they might be sentenced to a large fine and community service…” Okay, Y/N thought. It would probably drain her savings, but it was still possible to bounce back and have a future, right? She could still put it in the past and become a CEO one day, right?! “Then again, it was a premeditated attack. Jail time is also a strong possibility.”
Her heart sank back down to her feet. Jail. What successful CEO in Korea had been to jail before graduating, and for assaulting an idol no less.
‘I. Am. Done.’
“What’s the matter, Y/N?” Binna giggled, “You look like you smelled a rotten egg. But I guess hearing about how far some crazy people will go is pretty disgusting, isn’t it? I don’t think I’ll have much sympathy for them, whatever happens.”
“…Yeah…” Y/N said once her words came unstuck. That was another thing. Her sweet friend was going to think she was a criminal. She had known Binna since high school, having shared a homeroom class with her. They were vague acquaintances then, friendly enough to speak from time to time but by no means close enough to hang out between classes or after school.
In fact, admittedly, Y/N used to wonder if Binna’s perky personality was just an act. It had to be, in her cynical rationalizing, because who was really that upbeat, in high school?
Later on, she would realize she was just projecting, and once she stopped doing that was when she truly came to appreciate Binna for all that she was, steadfast and supportive. Although they didn’t become close, didn’t become friends, until meeting at orientation when arriving at Korea University.
“They knew the consequences before they did it.” Chin-Mae joined in, swishing the last of his champagne around before drinking it down. “It’s stupid to think your life won’t be impacted when you run wild like that.”
Except, Y/N wanted to wail. She hadn’t known. She wasn’t a sasaeng, and she knew she had assaulted someone but at the same time she hadn’t really done anything wrong. Except maybe buy a cursed magical phone, that somehow was behind all this.
…Yeah, she’d just keep that thought to herself.
“Well,” Y/N smiled, “Thanks for giving your input.” She told Min Su, who nodded, humming with a cheerful ‘no problem’.
A cartoony chime went off, and Binna groaned as she stared down at her phone, “Nooo,” she sighed, sounding truly remorseful. “Right now?”
“What’s happening?” Chin-Mae raised a brow.
“Jimin is going live!” She whined, “And normally I’d watch but I’m having such a great time with all of you, and I don’t want to be rude…”
“It’s fine, go ahead.” Y/N said, forcing a smile. “We know how addicted to that stuff you are.” Really, she wanted the floor to swallow her into the abyss. She knew the minute she heard that sound what was going on. If her phone had been turned on, they would have heard the same noise coming from her purse too.
She had made an account on several apps BTS often broadcasted their lives to, and set an alert for just that occasion. There were a couple of false alarms she hadn’t tuned into once she saw they weren’t from the person she was basically stalking at this point. But this was it. The big moment.
He hadn’t done a solo live since the accident…but Binna said his members had mentioned that he had a small accident while practicing and was recovering well.
All of Army was behind him, sending him tons of well wishes from all over the world. It was sweet, but she wondered how fast they would turn if they knew she was behind their beloved idol’s injuries.
“Yeah, what Y/N said,” Chin-Mae rolled his eyes. “Check on your man,” he joked.
Binna giggled, flashing them a cute heart. “He’s not my man,” she replied playfully, “I’d have to get in line for that. Plus, I’m really more of an OT7, you know? It’s really hard to stick with one bias.”
Nonetheless, when she began to watch, since Y/N couldn’t exactly whip out her phone and do the same without raising suspicion, she subtly leaned closer to at least listen.
Of course, Binna was always more astute than she let on. “Oh, did you wanna see too?” She angled the screen so they could both see before Y/N even had the chance to protest.
And the live was just starting, the exact same idol she had seen what felt like a lifetime ago was sitting in a room by himself. It looked like he was on a couch, legs crossed, looking small in his soft oversized sweater and giving the camera a cute wave. “Hi, everyone,” his sweet voice said. “Thank you for waiting on me!”
Gushing comments poured in, cheering him and welcoming him back, asking him what he’d been up to, and telling him he looked good. Jimin tilted his head, a coy, secretive smile appearing on his shiny lips. Y/N couldn’t tell if he was wearing gloss or if they always looked like that.
She had been a bit too preoccupied the one and only time she had the opportunity to see them in person. He had dyed his hair a different color, though. It was now a shade of strawberry blonde that complimented his angelic features well.
“Well, I haven’t been up to much. Just resting, really.” he explained. “Even on days when I felt better and tried to join practices, the members just shooed me away.” He laughed. “Oh, but look at this!” He reached down, his head dipping out of screen for a minute, popping up seconds later holding a little pot. “Taehyung got me this ‘get well’ plant!” He showed them a cute little sapling.
Binna cooed, Y/N glancing at her then refocusing on his words. Who knew when a hidden meaning would pop up.
“I don’t know how well I’ll be able to take care of it; I’m not sure if I have a green thumb. But I’ll try my best!”
Comments came pouring in again, people saying he was going to enter his plant dad era, because collecting succulents could be addicting.
Other people gushed at the sweetness of the VMin friendship, whatever that was, and yet more people reminded Jimin that he looked really good. Yet one comment in particular seemed to catch his eye, and he squinted, seemingly intrigued.
“Hmm? You wish you were a plant so I could take care of you?” He repeated. “You don’t have to be a plant for me to want to take care of you.” The statement was very matter-of-fact, “You’re Army. I’ll always watch over Army.”
Binna sounded like she released a tiny sniffle. “Is he not just the sweetest?” She asked, nudging Y/N a bit. “Since you’re new to BTS, have you chosen a bias yet?”
Y/N wished she could tell her the real reason behind her sudden interest, but that was kind of out of the question. “No, not yet…”
“Y/N’s a BTS fan now?” Chin-Mae asked, “Since when?”
“Pretty recent.” Binna replied.
Y/N was only half listening to her friends, mostly focusing on Jimin’s chatter. Someone was still insisting they wanted to be his plant, and he looked nothing short of amused.
“Okay, if you insist. Should I start a garden then?” He asked his fans. Y/N watched, stunned, as his bright eyes narrowed into a practiced and very effective smolder. She had seen it in pictures before, but in real time it was really something else, “It’ll be full of so many pretty flowers, and you’ll all bloom just for me, right?” The heady purr of his words sent a shocked shiver right down her spine.
Binna swooned, while Y/N felt her breath hitch. ‘What… the…hell…was that?!’ A flirty throwaway line like that had never had that effect on her before.
But then, thinking back, he had flirted with her in the dance studio too. She’d just been too worried to pay attention. Clearly, the man was an old hand at the art of duality, going from wholesome to heathen in five seconds flat. That was…dangerous.
Binna seemed to already know how she felt, leaning into her with a sigh. “That, Y/N, is what happens when Jimin turns from angel to demon.” Her friend explained. “I’d say you’ll get used to it, but odds are you probably won’t.”
Jimin then went back to amicably speaking to everyone, as if he hadn’t just teased fans within an inch of their lives. The conversation moved on, and he was speaking about upcoming projects he was excited about or a funny habit that he had noticed in his band member. All normal, non-threatening stuff. Y/N was almost thinking she could relax. Almost.
“What? You want to tell me a secret?” Jimin was reading another comment. “Okay, I’m listening…”
Y/N quirked a brow at the comment. “Sometimes I dream about you.” it read.
The idol grinned, replying casually. “Sometimes I miss Army so much I end up thinking about all of you in the middle of the day.” Y/N’s blood ran cold as he looked intensely at the screen. “It’s almost like you’re there…”
That was it. The sign she was waiting for! He was talking to her.
“I…” Y/N stumbled to her feet, startling Binna. “Need the bathroom, I’ll be back.”
“Oh, okay.” Her friend said slowly, setting down her phone. “Is anything wrong? You don’t…look so good suddenly.”
‘You wouldn’t either in my shoes,’ she thought miserably. ‘Park Jimin is going to sue me within an inch of my life.’
“It’s alright,” she held a hand to her stomach, selling the illusion of sudden nausea. “Just…lady problems.” She said lamely.
Poor Binna didn’t even question it; she nodded, eyes full of sympathy. “Well text if you need anything.” She squeezed Y/N’s hand. “I’ve got a few extra tampons in my purse.” she whispered discreetly. Really, Binna was too good of a friend for her.
Y/N rounded the corner in a hurry, blindly guessing where the bathrooms might be located. She passed their waitress, rolling out a cart that she was pretty sure contained their meals. Everything looked delicious, and of course she couldn’t even enjoy the great evening Min Su had generously provided. All because she was screwed.
She hustled into a bathroom as fancy as the rest of the steak house, and so spacious there would probably be an echo. She hustled over to the sink, activating the handless system by shoving her trembling fingers under it. As she splashed her face with warm water, the dread twisting up her stomach gave way to deja vu.
‘This is just like…the event at the internship.’ The wild day that would be the beginning of the end of her life. Removing her hands from the water, she gently pressed the pad of her thumb up to her eye, tapping it a few times.
Her makeup was well done, but it still felt like she could see bags. ‘At least it can’t get worse.’ She assumed. After all, what was worse than this? The dumb phone was put away in her clutch, turned off, and back at the table.
The very least she could do was fake a smile so she didn’t ruin everyone’s meal, and enjoy what might be her last chance to experience this. They probably didn’t serve many steakhouse dinners where she was going.
That thought firmly in mind, Y/N squared her shoulders and prepared to march back out, tightly gripping her clutch at her side. Wait, her clutch?!
Binna must have handed it over to her, assuming she might need it. She had said to text if she needed anything, and Y/N couldn’t exactly do that without a phone. Well, at least it was off. Y/N wasn’t totally sure what kind of phenomenon had disrupted her life, but it all started with that phone.
No sooner had she backed away from the mirror than a wave of dizziness overtook her, sending her keeling forward. Instinctively, she clutched the sink to maintain her balance, almost screaming out when she looked up as the dizzy feeling passed.
The mirror in front of her was the same as always, a reflection of her wide, mortified eyes. But the long glossy mirror that made up the entire wall of the bathroom at the entrance of the restroom?
A reflection of another room, just like before. “No…” she whispered, not ready to admit that it was happening again. What was worse? All of it being real, or her losing her mind? “Not again…!”
She clenched her eyes shut, then attempted to get her feet moving. She would keep her head down and hurry right on past, to the exit. That was the plan at least. And she was making good progress to move without falling over in her modest heels, but the minute she actually got closer to the mirrors, a strange feeling overwhelmed her.
Almost like a compulsion to stop. Y/N felt like she was watching a scene in a movie, watching a victim wander down the hall of a haunted house, towards the homicidal attacker lying in wait.
Her feet were making her move on her own! Her fingertips reached out, and yet she had no control. She had to touch the mirror, see if that room on the other side was real. But deep down, she knew the answer before her fingers made contact.
It was a strange emotion somewhere between surprise resignation when she wobbled onto a floor that was not marble and found her eyes darting around a room that was not the steak house.
Pressing against the mirror desperately, she confirmed what a large part of her had assumed. There was no give to the mirror, apparently no way back from the time being. Was she even still in Gangnam?
Her senses were feeding her all kinds of information, and frankly, it was starting to overwhelm her. The raw scents of sweat, male musk, and ammonia could only mean one thing, and it was further proven when she peered around the blind corner of a painted brick wall, only to see two people exercising.
Well, one was doing stretches, and with the way he hopped up, he had just finished. An older man in a tank top and sweats had pads strapped to his hands, and Y/N watched closely, not even daring to breathe, as the younger man sat down and laced boxing gloves onto his taped hands.
He stood up, and who she assumed was his trainer got into a defensive stance while the younger man hopped around nimbly. Y/N watched, wide-eyed as they began to train, the guy in the black hoodie practicing blocking, jabbing and dodging.
It was clear he had put a lot of dedication into this. Y/N was never much of a sports person, but she knew the result of hard-work when she saw it. His moves were fluid, and instead of slowing down, they got quicker the more he went at it.
Somehow, it never felt like a good time to draw their attention to herself, go wobbling over in her dinner attire, and ask for directions back to the High Tower SteakHouse. She had a few other options, of course, like calling Binna. Or maybe Chin-Mae…but how did she explain it?
She had gone to the restroom for a few minutes and wound up in a completely different location without leaving the restaurant?! Then again, it meant they would really have no choice but to believe her.
It was impossible for her to have gone anywhere far when they all saw her leave for the bathroom. Maybe she could sneak out while they were distracted and then call when she was outside the gym, not standing around all conspicuous.
Y/N was weighing the merits of her plan when she heard an excited yell, whipping her head around and watching the trainer give his client a few congratulatory pats on the back, apparently satisfied with the work he’d put in for the day.
They began speaking lowly to themselves, and Y/N paled when she noticed the only door out of the room she could spot was behind them…. The corner she was standing behind seemed to be where the water fountains and locker rooms were located.
Hiding out in there was another option, but it didn’t exactly appeal when she would have to keep checking to see when the gym was empty. Right now it was just the two of them, but what if more people came in?
They’d have questions about someone being dressed like she was, right? Then again she could also be found out just staying put where she was. Ugh…it was beyond frustrating.
Her luck was completely shot, huh?
A little hope returned when the trainer waved at the young man and then began heading for the exit. She assumed they were done for the day, and the second guy would be done soon too. But not so, because then she’d actually be lucky.
As soon as his trainer had cleared the room, he gave a loud sigh, beginning to shimmy out of his hoodie. Y/N didn’t think she was close enough to make the door in the small moment he had his vision obstructed, but she was close enough to get an eyeful.
If his training earlier hadn’t tipped her off that he was dedicated, his physique would have. He was all hard lines, though the minuscule glimpse of a thin waist when his shirt rode up with his hoodie was impressive too.
She could see a full sleeve of tattoos decorating one arm, and coupled with his longish two-toned hair, a deep brown that gave way to a raging red, he was kind of…hard to look at. Distracting in a way she didn’t anticipate. She didn’t get distracted, not usually.
He, on the other hand, got straight to business. Oblivious of her presence, he walked right over to the large, hanging punching bag and began to hit it. But he wasn’t just hitting it. Again, Y/N was no boxing aficionado, but she knew he knew what he was doing.
His strikes were always controlled, his breathing never ragged the way she could guess hers would be. He pivoted on his back foot, and she knew that the small movement put more power into his strikes.
He was hitting the bag like it owed him money, grunting occasionally, the muscles in his arms and shoulders flexing in his t-shirt. At some point, Y/N figured he would stop. He would either head out the door, or into the locker room, and that was when she would flee.
Hopefully, wherever the cruel cosmic entity that thought her life was a joke had dumped her, it wasn’t very far from the restaurant. Then again, shouldn’t she have gotten a worried text by now?
She’d been gone for a while. Or, maybe Binna had actually come to check on her and seen that she had disappeared entirely. Y/N could imagine the freak out as Binna flailed her way back to the table and informed Min Su and Chin-Mae that somehow, someway, she’d been kidnapped.
What was her life lately, she thought miserably. With nothing to really do but scroll her phone or continue to watch the mystery man go at it, she turned to checking what news was trending for the day. Normally, she at least kept up with news involving the business world, if nothing else.
The celebrity gossip blogs she left to Binna, BTS investment notwithstanding. Stocks were up at several companies she had an interest in working at after graduation—assuming she made it with her life in chaos lately—so that was good.
A CEO had resigned from his post at a company she had almost interned at but decided not to at the last minute off a strange feeling. Some scandal involving embezzlement. So she dodged a bullet there.
And, lastly, BTS’ Jungkook had endorsed some new sports brand, and now merchandise was selling out faster than it could be restocked. The article included a picture of Jungkook, posing in shorts and a t-shirt next to a mountain of different athletic gear for various sports.
Wait. Y/N could have swallowed her tongue. Wait. That man, the man in the picture and the one boxing…were the same person?!
Feeling like she may just be sick, Y/N did a quick check, and really took in the boxer. That was undoubtedly the idol pictured in the article.
Not only was she going to jail for assaulting one BTS member (albeit on accident) a fact that she had managed to forget up until that moment, she got pulled back into the same thing that got her in trouble before, and ended up crossing paths with another one?!
Once it came out what happened between her and Park Jimin, there was no possible way people would believe she wasn’t a sasaeng. The circumstantial evidence just kept getting more and more damning.
Jungkook. Jungkook. What did she know about Jungkook? Admittedly not much, considering all her focus had really been on Jimin for obvious reasons. She knew…that Binna said he was the youngest in the boy group. He was multitalented, and here her friend swore she wasn’t exaggerating or anything.
According to her, he was like some kind of Barbie of idols, he could do it all. Those weren’t her exact words, but it was the gist. Jungkook also had a habit of being a little shy around members of the opposite sex, or so it was claimed.
Y/N personally had always thought all idols had to be manufacturing some parts of their personalities for public consumption. Who knew which parts? None of the scraps of information she had been fed told her anything about whether he was liable to press charges for stalking him or not.
Then again, he was an idol, and knowing that, Y/N had to assume he had gone out of his way to book private gym time, hence why the spacious work out room was empty save for him. Which meant him catching her was going to lead to a world of trouble.
How good were her odds if she just booked it for the exit the minute he went back to the locker room? Or if he left, she’d wait a little bit to be sure he had cleared the building, then she’d leave too. Waiting…yep…that’s all she could do. If she wasn’t in a dress, and didn’t find the idea so dirty, she would slump over on the floor.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jungkook caught the punching bag as it swung back from his last strike, finally feeling satisfied with his boxing for the time being. His limbs had that good burn that he liked, and his heart rate was up, despite his controlled breathing. But he wasn’t ready to leave just yet, so he decided to switch from boxing to something new. After a break.
Unlacing his boxing gloves, he found his gym bag and rummaged inside for his water bottle. Sitting down on a mat, he took a few sips, trying not to gulp it down too fast. His bottle was empty in no time, despite his attempts at moderation, and refilling before he resumed working out didn’t seem like a bad idea.
His footsteps echoing in the big empty gym was probably his imagination, but the weird sight when he rounded the corner? That he was pretty sure was real. Leaning against the wall, a woman…no, a girl, dressed up like she had somewhere important to be was nodding off. He froze, staring, all kinds of thoughts flying through his head.
Who was she? How’d she get in? When did she get in? Was she dangerous? Did he need to call for back up? Jungkook had purposely began training at this gym because it was exclusive. As his fame had grown, unfortunately he had to stop using more easy to find public gyms.
The one at HYBE was an option, but sometimes he wanted something…quieter. Trainees who came in meant well, and they tried to be respectful besides giving him friendly greetings, but they couldn’t help but gawk, and that made it awkward when he was trying to get in the zone. Here, he had thought, was perfect.
But maybe he was rushing to conclusions. He didn’t know anything about the situation besides a girl in a nice dress was falling asleep by the water fountains while standing up. Her head slumped forward, then snapped up quickly as she jolted awake, eyes wide and alert.
That was when they locked gazes, and his loose, sore muscles tensed right up. She, on the other hand, curled away like she was facing a thug in an alley. It was bemusing; yeah he’d bulked up a lot in the last several years after he got serious about training. Jungkook never considered himself all that intimidating, though.
“Are you… staff?” he asked, since it didn’t seem like she was going to speak up first. Not with the way she kept looking like the guillotine was coming down on her head any moment.
It took a reasonably long time for her to compose herself and answer, which was another pretty big tip off that something was not right. He was ready to whip out his phone and call security. Or at least he would be, if he hadn’t put it on do not disturb and left it in his bag.
“This is all a misunderstanding, really,” she warbled, her hands slapped the wall behind her like she was trying to steady herself. “I didn’t…I didn’t mean to be here.”
“What?” Jungkook was definitely growing suspicious. No one who wasn’t up to something just answered like that.
“I was just going to wait until you left and I guess I started to nod off…” she ran a shaky hand through her hair, disturbing it a little. “But really, please, if you’ll pretend you never saw me, I promise, I’ll be on my way.”
He backed away quickly as she lurched forward, but before he could tell her not to do anything funny, she bowed very formally, and the idol watched, perplexed. When he didn’t respond in any way, she resumed her upright position, then tried to brush by him with her head down.
Though, when he noticed the phone clenched tight in her fist, he acted without thinking. Something his hyungs had told him to be careful of doing in the past. At least they weren’t around to scold him.
“Hey,” he seized her wrist, and she stopped in her tracks, though he wasn’t expecting her reaction at all. Her eyes took in the hand on her like she could just flay it off with the intensity of her stare alone, and then she met his eyes head-on, hers surprisingly stony. “Your phone…”
“What about it?” she tried tugging her hand away, but he wasn’t ready to let go just yet. Not until he got some answers. He liked this gym. He wanted to keep using this gym, and at the thought that his privacy was being invaded yet again, and he would have to find somewhere else, yet again, he was getting a little worked up.
“That’s an Army phone, a Galaxy Z Flip 4: Army Edition.”
Her eyes widened, and then she scoffed, shaking her head. “Yeah, I guess you would know. But to tell you the truth, though I can admire your band’s marketability, this phone itself has been nothing but problems. This is just the latest one. Now, please, let go.” There was some bite in her tone now, her voice surprisingly stern.
When she tugged again, he acquiesced, something she probably didn’t expect, since she stumbled before catching herself. And when she felt her cellphone tugged right out of her hand? She rounded on him, scowling. “That belongs to me.” She held her hand out, clearly expecting it back.
“Why are you here? This is a private gym, and you don’t sound like you’re staff.”
She snatched for the phone, but he held it away, using his speed to his advantage. “Are you Army?”
“What? No,” she sounded offended by the notion, which in turn offended him. Then again, a true Army wouldn’t do this to him. Wouldn’t invade his space. “And what does that matter?”
“You’re not Army but you’ve got a phone that’s a rare exclusive. Only Army would want to own something like this. And if you’d go this far, you might be a sasaeng.”
Here, she did pause in trying to retrieve her phone, a bit red in the face under her makeup. “Please, between my class schedule and internship, who would even have the time? The people who think stalking and harassing idols is worth jeopardizing their future for really need…” Surprisingly, the girl tried to jump for the phone like she wasn’t in heels, but he held it above his head, which meant it was way above hers, “…a hobby!”
“So I won’t find pictures you secretly took on this?” Jungkook squinted, not convinced.
“No!” She hissed, jumping again, “Now who’s invading whose privacy, you…you muscle-headed, bunny-eyed brute!”
He was so taken aback, he faltered, and with one last pounce, the mystery girl had snatched the phone, though not without a cost.
Before she could even yell out in triumph, her heel wobbled and her foot rolled. Jungkook watched in slow motion, wincing in automatic sympathy as she went down.
Time sped up as she cried out, on the ground and clutching her ankle in a dress too nice to be touching the bare gym floor. He stood over her, carefully watching her face at first. He could tell she was in pain, but attempting not to show the extent.
Something about that alone…took him back to his early days. A wave of nostalgia he didn’t want to feel washed over him. He would hide his exhaustion, sometimes even hide injuries sustained while on stage until the end of a performance, until he couldn’t hide it anymore, just to avoid worrying his hyungs.
And when they caught him, like they inevitably always did, he’d cry, apologize, worry they would resent him. It didn’t make sense to everyone, probably only to those who had experience firsthand with the feeling. Not wanting to let others down, wanting to live up to everyone’s expectations, struggling with the fact that they were still human.
The girl gingerly tried to shift her injured ankle, and that alone seemed to send a fresh wave of pain throbbing through it. With the way she bit her lip and clenched her eyes to stifle the cry he could just tell.
And even though Jungkook had been concerned about a million things regarding her appearance, including that she might be another delusional ‘fan’, no one could fake pain that expertly. Plus, she’d have to be some actress to make her ankle swell on command.
It was probably stupid of him to drop his guard, even for a second, but he found himself dropping to his knees, almost reaching out, and then hesitating. She stared up at him through her lashes, her own eyes as guarded as his had been, but wavering as she focused on ignoring her obvious injury. “I need…I need to call my friend.”
Making up his mind, Jungkook loosely grasped her foot by the heel, ignoring her half-hearted attempts to swat his hand away. He extended her leg, careful not to hurt her as he manipulated her foot to get a better idea of how bad it was. “You rolled it pretty hard.” He finally concluded.
“Yeah, no kidding.” Jungkook briefly met eyes with her again, but she stubbornly looked away. “I wonder how that happened.”
Guilt hit him pretty fast. Yeah. Even if he thought she was an intruder, he should have just called security and let them handle it. They were never far, and there was no way she could have stopped him. Not by physically overpowering at least.
“Hang on,” he told her, setting her foot down and getting back on his feet. “I can help.”
“That’s a nice gesture,” she ground out, failing to hide a wince, “But really, I have my phone, so I can just call my fri—” she grabbed it and opened it, only for her face to fall. “Really? Now?” He heard her grumble irritably.
Noticing his quizzical face, turned a blank screen to him. “It’s dead.” She deadpanned.
“Okay, then let me help.”
Jungkook didn’t know this stranger by any stretch of the imagination, but he had anticipated what her response would be. It probably sounded something like “no”, since she seemed disinclined to take his help.
Was she always like this, so stubborn? Was it some kind of pride thing? He had been there, too; his hyungs really had their hands full with him over the years, didn’t they?
Retrieving the first aid kit Jimin had gifted him some time back, he made a brisk return to find the girl in much the same position he had left her, staring sulkily at her injured ankle. She looked up when he approached, but didn’t say a word.
“You might have to take off your shoe.” he informed her.
He waited to get a response, the big plastic kit held by his side. Jungkook wondered if she just planned to ignore him, and if he should take her silence as consent and proceed, but that didn’t feel right. Finally, she mumbled, “…This is really happening…isn’t it?”
Nodding slowly, he popped the kit open and examined its contents, locating the roll of compression wrap. While he did that, he noticed her leaning forward, trying to unstrap her heel without moving in a way that would hurt her foot even more.
Jungkook had never worn heels, but he always thought anyone who did without falling over must have some hidden talent. Hers weren’t as tall as some, but she was still plucking at the strap with building frustration.
Guessing she wanted it over and done with just as bad as he did, the idol seized the heel of her foot again, bringing her leg out and reaching for the buckle himself.
If he expected a beaming smile and a grateful attitude, he’d be sorely mistaken. She gave him the stink eye. “I can do at least this much.”
“Maybe, but I can do it faster.” He shrugged, already loosening the heel and sliding it off while holding her foot steady. From so close, and without the shoe in the way, he could really see just how fast the ankle had discolored and swollen. Again, he wrestled with the guilt, absently reaching for the wrap. “So,” he began by holding her ankle at a ninety-degree angle, “Who are you? Because this doesn’t mean I forgot…”
“Believe me, I’m someone who doesn’t want to be here anymore than you want me to be here. I didn’t have a choice, not that you’d ever believe me…” she huffed. “But, because legal repercussions are probably unavoidable, I’ll start by being cooperative. Maybe when they review all this, that’ll work in my favor.” It sounded like she was talking to herself, not him, but then she cleared her throat and extended her hand. “My name is L/N Y/N.”
Jungkook didn’t expect such a strange introduction, and the attempt at a handshake reminded him of Namjoon-hyung. He grasped her palm very briefly, barely holding on to it long enough for their hands to go up and down, but she didn’t seem inclined to want to hold onto him either.
“Y/N…” he repeated.
“As for what I’m doing here…well, again, it’s not something any sane person would believe.” She switched her focus to watching him meticulously wrap her ankle. It was pretty careful care for someone that could have been stalking him, but he had already started, and if he was going to do it, his sense of perfectionism said he had to do it right.
“Are you…insane?”
“Excuse me?” She didn’t look very amused, but he guessed it wasn’t exactly a polite question.
“You said a sane person wouldn’t believe you…” he explained.
“I am not insane,” Y/N rubbed a hand to her forehead. “I just feel like I am lately,” she whispered. “I was dining out with some friends, in the restaurant bathroom and then…”
Jungkook waited while he secured the wrap with some bandage clips and closed his first aid kit. “And then?”
“It’s going to sound insane,” she finished matter-of-factly, “You’re going to call me a liar and accuse me of stalking you, then we’ll be right back where we started.”
Jungkook was torn between still wanting to contact security, but also experiencing some curiosity he couldn’t quite tamp down. “Do you have proof?” It didn’t sound like she did.
“Proof?” Y/N repeated, arching a brow as if he had just said something strange.
“You’re not even going to try to make me believe you?” he goaded.
“Sure, help me up and I’ll hobble right over to the mirror. You’ll see exactly how I got here and this whole think’ll be cleared up just like that.” Her tone was so sugary the sarcasm was evident.
Jungkook figured he had indulged this for this long…why not go all the way. Offering her a hand, he warned her to brace herself, and then pulled her up with ease. “Okay.”
“Okay?” She said warily, trying not to show him how much she was utilizing the wall for support.
“Okay,” Jungkook nodded, “Show me.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Idols were weird. Y/N wasn’t sure if it was just the fact that they lived in a completely ‘different world’ from normal people or what, but she hadn’t expected her first extended run-in with some world-famous celebrity to go like this.
Park Jimin was one thing; he’d been concussed, so that was enough to make him loopy. She hadn’t expected anything out of his mouth to make sense. But this guy, Jean Jungkook?
Totally different. He wasn’t suffering a head injury, for one. And he had seemed angry at first, but still handled her appearance in much the same way a mean boy on the playground would in elementary school. Playing keep away with her phone, really?
He’d even treated her with decency when she tripped and sprained her ankle. God, that was yet another thing she was going to have to deal with. Sprained her ankle! Sprained! How was she supposed to get around campus quickly? It was huge. Though she supposed that wasn’t a concern at present.
The idol’s strange demand was at the forefront of her mind, seeing as he was right behind her while she hobbled slowly to the mirror, her heel in one hand and her phone in the other.
She must have looked like a suffering pigeon, doing a funny little hop. But she refused to let him touch her after she got her bearings. It was humiliating enough to have someone see her make a fool of herself and get injured to boot, idol or no idol. Well actually, his status made it even worse.
And he was watching her oh so closely as she made it to the mirror, taking a deep breath and turned around to look at him with some difficulty. “Here it is.” She said flatly. “How I got in, and how I probably would be able to get out, if life felt like cutting me a break.”
He stepped around her, staring at her incredulously like she knew he would. She would look at herself that way in his position. Jungkook pressed against the mirror with the flat of his hand, one good time, as if to confirm it was solid. “You used the mirror? What, like magic? Like a drama?”
“You’re the one who said you wanted proof; I never said it would satisfy you.” she retorted. “I barely understand it myself, but what I’m saying is the only truth I have to cling to.” Her chin dipped, “No matter how implausible it is…”
She knew she would get the same result he had when she pushed on the mirror, but as if to confirm her fate was truly sealed, Y/N tried anyway. When her hand went right through, the cool glass giving way to cool nothingness, she yelled, pitching forward.
Jungkook made a noise, something startled, and she glanced at him to confirm he was seeing what was happening. His bulging eyes made it evident that he was. Yes! Y/N jerked her arm away too fast, and in doing so almost fell back on her ass, if not for the lightning reflexes of the idol who moved to extend an arm around her waist.
Y/N got her bearings, smoothed a hand over her shirt and her racing heart, and tried to hold back her tears. He could see. He could really see. The weeks of going crazy in silence, holding it all in, and someone else…could see.
“Your arm went through the glass,” he breathed.
“More than my arm’s gone through.” Y/N spoke with more confidence, now that there was no way he could deny it. “That’s…how I got here.”
The idol once again moved forward, pressing both hands against the mirror. Nothing. “How?” He wondered.
“I don’t know.” Y/N replied, “It’s been happening since…since I got this phone. So that’s my only theory, that the events are connected.” She held up the dead device and wiggled it around. “Not that that’s a story anyone would believe if I got caught breaking and entering.”
The idol appeared to be thinking, worrying his lip piercing with his tongue, “Unless they saw it.”
Y/N squared her shoulders, eyeing him up and down. He fidgeted, looking small somehow, despite being fairly tall with a healthy amount of muscle. From close up it was even easier to see than watching him from behind the wall.
“It might come as a surprise for you to know, not everyone would be as cavalier as you about all this. In fact, I’d go as far as saying your reaction was a bit…strange. Has anyone told you that you’re odd?”
‘Nice going, Y/N.’ She thought bitterly, ‘That was over the top blunt. You’re not trying to make an enemy out of the very first person to be witnessing the crazy with you.’
Luckily, the idol didn’t look overly offended. Jungkook pursed his lips, big eyes sheepish as he rubbed his head. “Uh-huh, my hyung.” he said thoughtfully.
“Well…” Y/N gestured vaguely. “Now that you’ve seen what I’ve seen, you know about as much as I do. Would it be too much trouble to ask if I could…go?” Pointing a thumb toward the mirror like she was about to miss her cab would seem dumb if he didn’t know.
“Oh, right,” Jungkook’s tapped the mirror again. “You’re going back to where you came from.”
“Ideally,” Y/N frowned, “I’ve been gone a long time. There’s no way my friends aren’t concerned about that. And when they can’t find me who knows what they’ll think.”
Somewhat afraid the give they had both witnessed was a one-off, Y/N pressed her hand to the mirror once again, happy when it rippled and went right through. It might have been too late to salvage the evening with her friends, but at least she could salvage her reputation.
This will probably never be made into a video because i do not have the time so enjoy this script anyway<33
Intro:
Hello everyone it's drew here, mh headphones are currently broken and I can't voiceover things for now :,) so instead have some FunNy text! Anyway tysm to everyone who watched my last metal family analysis, through it was barely any people at all it still was amazing to have the opportunity to make that video to explore the metal family universe and all the beautiful citizens within it, now onto the video
Who heavy is and his character:
Heavy metal is the youngest son of glam and victoria metal, he has ginger hair, green eyes, and tanned skin, he dresses in a familiar way to the rest of his family with darker clothing and is typically seen with band tee shirts and cuffs on his wrists, Despite the dark clothing his face personality is bubbly and optimistic, he's seen as the golden child of the family for his cuteness and his golden heart, he also is my favorite metal family character lol
Brief summary of episode:
Its heavys 14 birthday, his parents give him a pair of piercings as a family tradition and to celebrate heavy growing older, heavy however is afraid to do so due to having a fear of needles, his family indirectly peer pressures him to go through with it regardless, he faints, then wakes up with his new brow piercings while in the car with his family. He relaxes upon realizing he has his mothers approval and the episode ends
This analysis purpose:
So, I've been wanting to discuss this for a while, as I'm sure most of us know the fandom has acknowledged dee and his father glam have family issues, with Dee feeling like a failure and forcing himself to be hyper independent and with glam calling Dee a disgrace and even not backing down but actually confirming that being his true thoughts in his qna, but I'm not focusing on that today actually, today we'll be focusing on heavy and Victoria, my hypothesis is that heavy and Victoria also have similar issues to glam and Dee, I believe heavy heavily (ha get it) idolizes his mother to an intense level, and desperately wants and craves her love and approval where I've harvested this idea from and I believe to even confirm my thoughts
Moments where heavy showed his desperateness for approval n it's meaning::
Since it's our main focus for this video, let's focus on season 2 EP 4 first off, the whole episode high lights heavy and Victorias interactions and relationship, with her being the one to call him down for breakfast, with heavy being sadden and dissatisfied by Dee telling him that she left dye to heavy aggravating her (which we find out is a lighthearted prank in which Victoria jumps out the closet to hug heavy, again, she's the one to hug him specifically) we see continuously in this episode and out that he always looks at her first for reassure, because to heavy she is the most important, ofc he loves his father too, but it honestly seems clear to me just how Victoria is heavys favorite parent with how much he wishes to be like her, that or he acts similar to her in order to get her attention, like how in his qna he stated how once he gets all “big and strong” he'll fight back on his bullies, and in Victorias and she states that one time heavy helped her in the car shop, and how he dropped the oil and burned his hands, Victoria seems unphased by the fact heavy was crying and in pain and said how he's actually not allowed to help in there anymore, We see in episode 3 of season 1 that Victoria will often get into fights with even just slight aggravation from others who bother her, and we see in episode 2 how heavy does the same, now its possible it's just a family connidence but I believe its also likely that heavy gets into fights on purpose to try and impress Victoria? Just a small suggestion, in episode 4 (of season 1) when heavy cried and asked himself what was wrong with him, Victoria however just told him to quiet, in season 1 episode 8 when victoria is at the bar we can see heavy go there and be able to get through the crowd to talk to her, we can see him smiling and being happy to see his mom until she starts yelling at him due to annoyance both of the current situation she's in with the betting and heavy being at the bar interrupting her, we can see his mood worsen as she gets increasingly upset, this shows just how optimistic he is and how quickly his mood can be brought down, something that I've noticed too is how heavy isn't scared or frightened, which sure might SEEM good doesn't seem so when you take into account the fact Victoria always yells around the house likely and probably does have angry outbursts towards her children too, we've seen again and again heavy desperately wanting Victoria to be proud of him, in the same episode heavy says “what if someone spends the last of their money?” Which can easily be a reference to him losing in the poker game back in episode 4, Victoria responds by saying “then their an idiot! And I have no sympathy for idiots” look at heavys face, this clearly was heavy, in a very indirect way asking what'd she think if he was like those dumb gamblers back the the bar, not to mention, notice how Victoria says that person would be an idiot?.... Heavys main nickname by Dee, his older brother, IS. IDIOT. “IDIOT BROTHER” “IDIOT” ?!!! ITS AS CLEAR AS DAY!
Random thoughts+rant:
Basically in summary I believe that heavy is desperate and aches for victorias approval, we see how he acts towards his mother in all the episodes, how much he inspires to be strong like her, and to get her love and approval, instead of her constant jokes at his expense, I mean, Victoria even wanted him to get pierced, which he absolutely did not want, but he went through with it in order to appease her, he was so afraid of needles he FAINTED from it, he speaks loudly like her, he does things in order to gain her approval, he wants his mother's love, he wants her attention, he just wants be rewarded, and feel earned, the look he gives her at the end, his tired eyes, his miserable face, he clearly is so drained, so so tired, heavy keeps fiending for her word, her request, he needs it, the desire for encouragement is never ending for him, he's a child that wants so desperately to be seen by his mother, honestly, i can even draw parallels from him and Victorias relationship to Che's and his mother's, with how strong they both fight for their mothers comfort and love, how they both need to fight, they feel they need to fight the world for their mothers, ofc heavys is a lighter issue with just having more casual mental issues with needing to make his mother proud, veruses ches feeling like he needs to protect his mother and keep her safe before she passed, overall I wanted to get this video out before the new episode because I've been wanting to talk about heavys mommy issues for a while now, I find it interesting how when he thinks his mother will notice he acts more tough and mature but when alone like with life and Dee he's chill, happy go lucky, and alot nicer, and this was all a very brief recap of what I've seen and noticed from heavy and Victorias dynamic, if anyone has anything to point out or their own theories, please comment down below! Its amazing to see others own analyses on things
Outro:
all these characters are so amazing and complex, I've had other thoughts about what to make videos of, like Dee potentially being a self harmer, to go into detail with glam and his own intrusive thoughts and tendencies, Victorias potential past and so much more, I'd really appreciate any support given from these videos I make, I love sharing my creativity and using symbolism and connecting patterns to create new ideas and theories, I adore metal family with my whole heart and can't wait for new episodes, may Alina and Dina be blessed with their productions, and I wish everyone watching this, a good morning, evening, or night, peace out
Todd Haynes on Velvet Goldmine and Fandom (and Gender, and Yaoi, and Slash Fic)
Source: "Something that is Dangerous and Arousing and Transgressive: An Interview with Todd Haynes," Julia Leyda.
Edits and emphases my own :) The whole interview is fascinating, and while I kept most of the Velvet Goldmine stuff in this post, there are more bits to read about it, as well as conversation around Todd Haynes' other films. This is gonna be a really long post, with screencaps throughout, so find it below the cut!
JL: You've done several movies that are very clearly woman's films, but the movie that I am most fascinated with in terms of gender is Velvet Goldmine, which is not usually interpreted in that context.
TH: No, except it's probably gotten the strongest female fan base of any of my films. And what's wonderful for me is to see new generations of young women, even as we think we progress as a society and there are new options available to each new generation that seem to be catering to that market more acutely, still Velvet Goldmine offers that market something that they’re not getting elsewhere. I always love it when girls come up to me at festivals and that’s the one, that’s the movie that really turned them around.
JL: I’m interested in how you use the trope of playing with dolls in Superstar and Velvet Goldmine as a way to figure gender, embodiment, desire, identification. You said in an interview that playing with dolls is what you’re doing in Velvet Goldmine, using it as a metaphor for the filmmaking process, to play with the characters of the idols more than making an actual biopic about bisexual pop stars. So what about the female characters in Velvet Goldmine? Fans, rock and roll girls like Mandy — talk a bit about them.
TH: Interesting question... I don’t know if [the role of the rock-n-roll girl and the role of Angela Bowie in glam] relates directly to doll-playing except that it really might be the last time that you see an active female figure freely utilizing artificial terms of self-expression and persona in an unembarrassed, unabashed, almost radical way. That was in a way the fascinating counterpart to the more aloof, silent, objectified figure that Bowie assumed as Ziggy Stardust. Of course, there was also that hardcore influence from the American music that he loved — the Stooges, the MC5, and the Velvet Underground and Lou Reed — as the final ingredient to give it that kind of duality, the cross between English musical traditions and this American hardcore, a direct assault. He needed both of those, but there was still a kind of passivity and object-ness of that figure that seemed more quiet, and more comfortable being an image, an idealized beautiful façade that people could project onto; whereas Angela Bowie was active, pulling the strings and moving the levers — in that way, I think, making him up so that he was the doll that she was playing with. So a lot of that energy and that fire and fearlessness I think could be attributed to her.
JL: In the doll-playing scene in Velvet Goldmine, the girls are like Mandy, manipulating them and fantasizing about them. So that trope of little girls playing with dolls scene really gets at the way the movie is about bisexuality and a kind of less bordered sexual identity, that is based in play, in fantasy —
TH: — is fluid, is mutable, is conducive to all kinds of voices and all kinds of players pulling the strings. But one thing that Velvet Goldmine kind of misses is how strongly and passionately young women were the driving desiring consumers of this very unique moment in popular culture history. That has continued, too: the androgynous male object is something that still attracts a really passionate, active female spectatorship. That’s so fascinating to me, and you can see it played out in so many different ways: the tradition of the Japanese comics of the ’70s, what’s it called again?
JL: The subgenre of manga with the boy lovers and its girl fans, yaoi.
TH: Exactly. The boy lovers and the girl fans, really directed at girl consumers, and it’s this androgynous, starry-eyed princes and pretty boys who have sparkly eyes for each other.
JL: I wondered if you were aware of yaoi or not. When I was working on a conference paper about the girl fans in Velvet Goldmine some of my colleagues said, Hey that’s just like yaoi! And I said, Wow, it really is, but I have no idea if that’s part of what he was thinking or if it’s just a coincidental, cross-cultural parallel.
TH: It was a tangent that I learned about in the process of research, but I don’t remember when exactly. I was certainly aware of how there was a particular Japanese following with a passionate attachment to the Bowie phenomenon, glam rock, T. Rex; Japan made up a major part of their market. But I think it’s an interesting counter-argument to the classic Laura Mulvey idea of a limited female spectatorship and if anything it only further underscores — although I think this is all embedded in that, and though I haven’t read those articles in some years — that marginalized subjects, such as gay subjects and women, have to find a more dexterous and nuanced way of reading culture and finding their way into all kinds of content that is not designed for them. I think there’s this ability to transform and to enter into all kinds of different subject positions of which this is one amazing and fascinating example: the glam rock thing with young girls’ driving interest in it.
JL: When I was a teenager I was a huge Bowie fan, and my mother was confused because I was always trying to look like Bowie; she would say, “You’re attracted to him, you have a crush on him, why do you want to look like him? When I was younger I loved Jean-Paul Belmondo, but I didn’t want to look like him.” But in the ’70s, and in my case the ’80s, and still today I think, girls of all sexual orientations experience that overlapping between desire and identification — it’s there in the Arthur character, too, but I’m thinking of in the opening sequence with the glam girls rampaging.
TH: Right, they’re absolutely rampaging, terrorizing the town in utter desire. And we all know that the passion that we see displayed there, the intensely sexual display of female spectatorship probably started with Valentino, Sinatra, the Beatles, and Elvis.
JL: It’s almost hysterical.
TH: Yes. There was in these cases an androgynous, feminine element to the actual performance; in a way, just for the star to be up on stage, just to be objectified, is to arguably be feminized. These artists in their unique and shaded ways capitalized on that, and the result among female spectators is something that society is still startled by: that radical emotional response that it engenders... Each generation has its own variant on that. It does call into question all sorts of assumptions about opposites attracting, the whole simplistic reductive ideas of what drives desire —
JL: — and the borders of identity.
TH: Yes, and the female subjects, spectators, consumers, maybe because they’ve had to learn how to occupy different subject positions in dominant patriarchal culture, have revealed the ways that desiring has narcissistic or self-reflexive aspects. On the other hand, maybe male spectatorship has just been so much more catered to and delineated in solid terms, and thus hasn’t been able to explore the margins as thoroughly, but women and gay people and African Americans, for example, all have to find different ways of entering mainstream cultural production.
JL: I love that the girls with the dolls in Velvet Goldmine are storytellers, they are controlling the narrative, in a sense, and that you say that that’s what you were doing as a director.
TH: I think that’s how we all begin to externalize our desires: through storytelling. Dolls are a tool that lends itself to that; they are supposedly made for little girls, and I loved dolls when I was a kid. The Barbie doll became a multiply useful subject in the Karen Carpenter film, and that was the internal nod that I was making in Velvet Goldmine, but it was so relevant it didn’t feel like a detour or a private joke — it felt like it was getting to the core of the intense effect that is felt by these kinds of characters in popular culture. That free-floating desire in the little boy-romance that the little girls are constructing is about as sweet and tender as anything in the film.
JL: That kind of storytelling, the freedom in play, helps the characters, but also the rest of us, decide who we are and how we want to tell our own stories.
TH: It’s the story and the engine of the film. It is really the fan’s point of view — the Arthur character, obviously — but it’s really the theme and the whole motor of it. I always knew I wasn’t really interested in getting inside the closed doors of these famous subjects and that’s why a fictionalization of this unique period made sense. We all already fictionalize and fill in and fantasize. And we see it too in the whole slash fiction phenomenon, which I didn’t even know about until Velvet Goldmine, and in which Velvet Goldmine has itself become a category.
JL: That’s the cool thing about Velvet Goldmine — it is itself a sort of slash fiction, and there’s this ongoing spin-off slash fiction community carrying the stories forward — it’s a perfect loop.
TH: Yes. To ignite that little flame that makes people want to respond actively and creatively and participate. It reminds me of a girl… I was scared of Bowie when I was in junior high school, and I remember I was aware of him, but it was all just too freaky. There was a girl in a lip sync show in seventh grade who picked his song “Changes.” She was this beautiful girl and she imitated him, as many girls did, right, because he was so pretty... [S]he just did the perfect lightning bolt like Aladdin Sane, and she got her hair just right — I forgot if she wore a wig. But she performed “Changes,” and I remember hearing and thinking, “Oh, this isn’t so scary . . .” because I expected it to be really hardcore music and I would be put off by it. But it was so pretty.
JL: So she turned you on to Bowie.
TH: She really helped...
JL: I’m trying not to let my brain explode with that idea! I remember that scene in Velvet Goldmine where they’re reporting on the news, saying something like, “Girls everywhere are wearing glitter makeup,” and that conveyed the society’s sense of fear, of what are all those girls up to? The idea that they’re going to need to be controlled again somehow because they’re getting a little too weird or too powerful.
TH: The glitter girls, as they were sometimes called, especially the LA version of the glitter girls, that’s another thing I really remember from junior high. As I read later when I studied this period, they were a force to be reckoned with — extremely precocious, among some of the youngest, most adventurous and not violent, but persevering, fearless, active fans. They peopled the Rodney Bingenheimer English Club on Sunset Boulevard —
JL: Like the Runaways.
TH: Yes, they gave birth to the Runaways. I think it was one of those girls who ended up in Roman Polanski’s house, who was fifteen or however old she was, but that’s why it’s very hard to examine that infringement outside of its cultural context and what was happening at the time in Los Angeles. Glitter girls scared the shit out of me when I was a kid — they were tough, and girls were already ahead of boys at that age, but they were miles ahead. It was intense. I can absolutely picture those kinds of girls, and they were intense, in their platform shoes and glitter makeup.
JL: With Arthur, I thought you did such a great job developing that character as a kind of giddy, exuberant, awkward young guy. You’ve said that Velvet Goldmine was your most affirmative film, even though the ’80s scenes are so dark, it provides the character of Arthur with this memory to cherish even in the middle of the awful ’80s.
TH: Totally. I don’t know if there’s a more joyful moment in any of my movies than that little passage that I’ve been showing as a clip in a couple of festivals and retrospectives of Arthur getting the record, and making his brother agree to lend him the money taking it home, opening it up, and that cherished —
JL: Fetishized!
TH: — fetishized record. And then he leaves the house, stashing his coat and just prancing proudly with his badges down the street with the song playing, and yet still being met with this higher echelon of socially superior kids who look down on him, and the pretty boy who scowls at him for his presumption to even be in their company. But still I think every kid has some version of that: his awkwardness, his passion, his vulnerability, and his strength, too, are all embodied in that ability to fall in love.
That beautiful sequence ends with him turning the page one more time to the page with the image of Curt and Brian kissing. And I remember feeling that, a kind of recoiling, confusion — like it’s tapping something exact, absolutely precise, but just too many membranes down to be able to be freed up, able to be voiced or affirmed. But it’s something you’re bookmarking for the future, that feeling you’re going to return to when you have a little more strength, a little more perspective. It’s touching something that you know you’re going to have to get back to because it’s something that is dangerous and arousing and transgressive. Christian's performance is so amazing because that sequence starts with him in the classroom, where he really looks all of a sudden like he’s fourteen years old, with his ruddy cheeks —
JL: — and his really bad bangs. I identified with him utterly and painfully in that scene. And his flailing dancing scene. My God, that character is so beautiful.
TH: He did such a beautiful job. He really was so committed and so profoundly inside that guy. I remember when we wrapped and he put away the Arthur clothes and he came back and said, “I just put away the Arthur clothes and cried a little bit.” And I don’t know if I cried but I sure felt like I could’ve. I think despite all the beautiful, fancy guys in that movie, I think my heart belonged to Arthur.
JL: Of course, because Arthur’s us.
TH: He is.
JL: When he takes that coat off and starts walking down the street it’s just: yes! We were all there. I like the way that film gives a few different positions over to that kind of fandom: audience member, fan, young person who’s still working things out, still trying to figure out who they are, and who they want, and who they want to be. The girls as well as Arthur.
TH: It’s also why the whole package of bisexuality, a kind of performative, made-up, dressed-up sense of identity and self, and coupled with this sense of being extraterrestrial, speaks so directly to adolescent instability and to that moment of uncertainty. It couldn’t have been a more total package for the mutability of that time, touching all the nerves and also the freedoms that dressing up allows you, and imagining different kinds of love objects that aren’t necessarily the ones you’re supposed to have. But even that is blurry, unfixed.
JL: Tommy Stone’s star image shows the other side of that dressing-up, right? If you can change yourself that radically, you can also change yourself into a horrible, plastic thing.
TH: Right, and a kind of converse example. The female fan who comes up to Arthur in that final scene at the bar who is so ecstatic about Tommy Stone because that’s all that generation has. That’s what they got — it’s not their fault that the same desire, the same need for something special is expressed, but it’s just not radical, or progressive, or culture-changing. But it’s what they’ve got, and I didn’t want to blame them because they are part of a culture that had to clamp down around categories once again, resume control of those categories that were seeping into each other so surprisingly for a brief time.
JL: Exactly. That limited world that she inhabits and Arthur’s wistful smile as he gives her the press pass, seeing her giddiness.
TH: Just as the emerald pin is the ultimate token of passing on heritages and opportunities or insights or ways of radically inverting a person’s destined experience. That’s how that scene is framed with him passing on the press pass to her and Curt passing on the pin to Arthur. There’s a nice sense of camaraderie among generations and different stations.
‘We’ve always been very divisive’: Måneskin on fighting fascists and breakfast with Chris Martin
First The X Factor, then victory at Eurovision, now a Grammy nod: the Italian glam rockers have taken the road less ordinary on their way to worldwide fame. So long as they can be themselves, they wouldn’t have it any other way (posted on 21.01.2023)
Damiano David is bent double over a large glass table, gleefully snorting an imaginary line of cocaine. His Måneskin bandmates – bassist Victoria De Angelis, guitarist Thomas Raggi and drummer Ethan Torchio – collapse in fits of laughter around their frontman, each one pretending to wipe the nonexistent powder off the table in their rented LA flat.
David is playfully reimagining the Italian rockers’ most infamous moment: hours after winning Eurovision 2021 with their pogoing glam-rock stomp Zitti e Buoni, in front of a global audience of 183 million, footage circulated of David appearing to snort something off a table in the green room. The images quickly went viral, with Emmanuel Macron reportedly calling for the band to be disqualified (France’s entry was in second place). In the end David offered to take a drug test, which cleared him of any wrongdoing; the results are still pinned proudly to his fridge at home.
“I think the view people have of us, and of me, it’s very off-target,” David says now, his usual rock star uniform – Gucci-styled 70s glam idol mixed with Rocky Horror Picture Show vamp – replaced by an oversized beige sweater and a violent cold. (Every band member is struck down with it, rendering a grey-looking Raggi almost mute.) “People think we behave like the Sex Pistols, or Mötley Crüe, but we’re nothing like that,” David continues. “We’ve got more educated on the risks of drugs and how they affect your body. I don’t even drink alcohol any more.”
“At the time we got so upset about it and now we don’t give a fuck,” smiles De Angelis, the band’s most outspoken member, sat looking resplendent in an Italians Do It Better T-shirt.
David, however, is having none of it: “No, I am still upset about it, actually. I think it’s dumb to tarnish the victory at Eurovision. I think we should go back and hand flowers around.”
Måneskin, despite their throwback vintage rock vibe, represent a very modern take on the rock’n’roll mythos. Prior to Eurovision – a DayGlo pop jamboree not renowned for its links to rock excess – the band gained notoriety via Italy’s version of karaoke conveyor belt The X Factor. Their origin story has led to some music purists taking umbrage at the band’s success, with their CV now including two UK Top 10 singles, more than 4bn streams, multiple world tours, a collaboration with Iggy Pop, plus a support slot with the Rolling Stones in Vegas.
“Some of the stupid comments we get are probably because of [having done The X Factor and Eurovision],” shrugs De Angelis. “People are so narrow-minded that they can’t see beyond the idea that if we went on Eurovision we must be shit. They can’t listen to our songs with an open mind and judge them based on what they really think.”
On their highly anticipated third album, Rush!, Måneskin’s first since becoming one of the few new rock acts to break through globally, the band can often be found grappling not only with the speed of their ascent (hence the title), but also a complicated relationship with what rock’n’roll means in 2023. “The whole concept of rock music is not conforming to what society would love you to be,” De Angelis says. “It’s ignoring those made-up rules and being yourself. We don’t think real rock music is about these stereotypes of the sex and drugs and rock’n’roll lifestyle,” she continues. “It’s about expression and creative freedom.”
Still, Rush!, which was mainly co-produced in LA by Swedish hitmaker Max Martin, is stuffed with songs about sex, drugs and, indeed, rock’n’roll, but often with a twist. While lead single Supermodel criticises, rather than valorises, LA’s vapid party scene (“Everything [in LA] is so huge and big and wants to impress you, it’s all showing off,” sniffs De Angelis), the band confess to having enjoyed at least one A-list schmooze with Coldplay’s Chris Martin, who invited them over to his and girlfriend Dakota Johnson’s house for breakfast.
“Dakota cooked us eggs, Chris didn’t cook,” remembers Torchio.
“He was enjoying the moment,” suggests David.
Supermodel also references the band’s apparent drug of choice, cocaine, as does the frenetic Bla Bla Bla, though it largely serves as a warning of sorts, as David sings: “I’m too drunk and I can’t get hard.” “It happens when you drink too much,” the 23-year-old shrugs, ignoring his bandmates’ giggles. “Even when you haven’t had a drink. [That song] is a mixture of honesty and putting on ‘crazy guy’ shoes. [That character] says some things I would never say.”
Perhaps the best example of stereotypical rock’n’roll swagger arrives on the ludicrous Kool Kids, a punky marauder that finds David aping the spit-flecked delivery of Slowthai. “That [was written] three days after Eurovision so our feeling was: ‘Fuck off, we won and everybody has to eat our shit,’” David says. “Before Eurovision we went through a very tough year; everybody was trying to stop us doing this kind of music and doing Eurovision. Nobody believed in us. So we had this feeling of being the underdogs that won.”
That feeling has helped cement Måneskin’s sibling-style bond. It’s been fostered since they formed at high school in Rome in 2016, with David, De Angelis and Raggi coming together after their various other bands didn’t work out (Torchio was later recruited via Facebook). “I remember when I started playing guitar at school, everyone was like: ‘Oh my God, you play electric guitar. Are you a lesbian?’” De Angelis says. “It’s all these stereotypes you know.” Suddenly her eyes dart around the room. “But then actually they were right,” she adds with a huge roar of laughter.
The band, named after the Danish word for moonlight (De Angelis is half-Danish), would quickly garner similar reactions across Rome for their style, which often involved every band member donning makeup. “I remember even when we were busking or playing at school parties everyone always looked at us like freaks,” says De Angelis. “This gave us even more of an attitude of wanting to tell them to shut up. Growing up and being inspired by a lot of the artists from the 70s, the glam, it showed us something we hadn’t seen.”
In 2017, the band appeared on The X Factor, eventually finishing second and landing a chart-topping album in Italy a year later. “When we went on The X Factor we were the first rock band to [appear], but we just played as if it was our own show,” De Angelis continues. “We didn’t have to change.”
While more success quickly followed in Italy, including five Top 10 singles in two years, the band say they felt a shift at home after Eurovision sent them interstellar. “We’ve always been very dividing,” David says. “There are a bunch of people that love us and are very proud of what we’re doing, and then there’s a whole other part made of conservatives and traditional rock’n’roll fans and fascists that hate us with everything they’ve got. Then there’s this conspiracy building up … ”
Everyone at the table looks bemused.
“What?” splutters Torchio.
“Yeah, guys you have to be informed,” snaps David. “It says that we’re getting famous because we’re being paid. That we’re working with the Italian government to share this gender-fluid culture!”
“A lot of people are really proud,” De Angelis says. “But Italy is a very conservative country and they’re intimidated by the fact that someone can wear makeup or high heels or appear half-naked or not be straight. But fuck them.”
This passion for nudity caused problems last August when the band performed at the MTV VMAs, where they won best alternative video for single I Wanna Be Your Slave. While David donned a dog collar, leather chaps and buttock-revealing thong, De Angelis covered one nipple with a silver star before her top slipped down revealing the other one to be unadorned. Cue lots of hastily edited aerial shots to save everyone’s blushes. “We’re too hot for US television,” smiles De Angelis. “It’s so stupid because they want to appear so open-minded and then they get scared about a pair of nipples. There is this difference between men’s and women’s bodies and how you’re perceived and sexualised all the time. Everyone has nipples.”
“It’s very clear the different standards people have because I was literally butt-naked,” adds David.
Perhaps it’s no surprise that a band whose success was forged in controversy are now under the microscope. For David and Raggi, the band’s straight contingent, there have been accusations of queer-baiting, thanks to their penchant for sporting makeup and experimenting with a more fluid style. “There are some cases where it happens, but sometimes [the accusations are] so extreme,” says De Angelis. “It’s stupid for queer people, who should fight these stereotypes, to label it as this and create more hate. The fact [Raggi and David] are straight doesn’t mean they can’t wear makeup. Or heels.”
David agrees: “Everything me and Thomas do is always filtered by two people who are [queer]. Of course we don’t experience the same stuff, but we live every day very closely with people from the community.”
They are keen to also deflect their spotlight on to more immediately concerning issues, with Rush!’s throbbing Gasoline – performed at last September’s Global Citizen festival in New York – aimed at Putin (“How are you sleeping at night? How do you close both your eyes? Living with all of those lives on your hands?” run the lyrics.) The song, they say, is a message of support for their Ukrainian fans. Rather than shy away from politics, the band see it as entwined with who they are. “Everything you do as an individual is political,” says David.
For now, however, they are keen to get some sleep. There is a discussion around how much time they’ve had off since winning Eurovision in 2021, with the general consensus landing on about two weeks in total. With another tour booked for this year, including a sold-out show at London’s O2 Arena, and a Grammy award to fight for (they’re nominated for best new artist), their schedule seems unlikely to let up any time soon.
“Two weeks off in two years!” repeats a dazed David shaking his head. Rock’n’roll stops for no one.
When You Become Your Idol Bias's Child - Oshi No Ko Anime Review
Everyone and their dogs have been hyping up Oshi no Ko since it’s anime adaptation announcement. I was also curious on what the hype was, so when the first episode was released, I sat down and watched the episode. I was blown away.
The anime centers around the Japanese entertainment industry. I’m not too familiar with how the Japanese entertainment industry works, but I grew up watching Korean entertainment. While every entertainment industry may seem ritzy and glam, that’s only a front to the cesspool of darkness buried deep within. Every entertainment industry is dark.
The animation is beautiful, honestly. Doga Kobo is an underrated anime studio. Their animation quality has improved a lot; if you’re unfamiliar with them, they’re the studio that animated the perfection that is Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun. I love the choice of colors that the studio uses to make the animation pop out. The way they color the characters’ eyes is pure quality.
The music is great. The opening, Idol, is THE anime song of the season and possibly the year. It’s super addicting and it’s one of the rare times I do not skip openings. It’s just that good. The ending song is good too! However, other than that, I do feel like the OST is a bit forgettable. I don’t remember the songs used in the anime other than the opening and ending.
The writing of Oshi no Ko highlights that immaculately. The story is about Ai Hoshino a sixteen year old idol who takes a hiatus and goes to a hospital where a male gynecologist named Goro resides. It turns out that Goro is a fan of Ai and got into stanning idols after a patient died. While he was shocked that his bias is pregnant, he becomes supportive and promises her to help her give birth naturally and not caesarian. One day, Ai gets into labor, and her stalker actually follows Goro to an isolated area in the forest and murders him by pushing him off a ledge. When he awakes, he finds himself inside the body of Ai’s son, Aquamarine Hoshino (Yes, that’s his actual name). However, there’s another person who got reincarnated as his twin sister Ruby Hoshino; it’s Goro’s patient Sarina who was a fan of Ai’s before her death.
The early years of the Hoshino family was cute, honestly. Ai was charming. Aqua and Ruby were hilarious kids; they have no clue what’s going on with their new lives, but they were just trying their best to live. Because they were reincarnated, they behave much differently from normal babies as they can already walk and talk. I always wondered why no one ever pointed out how different Ai’s babies were from other kids. Like, Ruby was already knowing how to use Twitter and talking about “virgin birth” while Aqua read thick books meant for adults when he was around 2 or 3 years old. People have commented on it via gossip and baby Aqua uses Youtube as an excuse of his precociousness and people buy that. I guess it’s just Japanese culture to not stick your nose into people’s business.
Ai’s death was pretty shocking in itself. I didn’t expect it to be so sudden. She didn’t even reach twenty years old before her death. How unfortunate. I think what hit the feels the most is the fact that, throughout episode 1, Ai never once said that she loves her kids. While she has strong affection for them, she’s unsure what love is. Love and lies are a big theme in this story. While her name is Ai, it has several meaning. The most common meaning is “Love”, however Ai’s name is written in katakana. There could be two meanings why it’s in Katakana, which usually associates with a loan word. It could stand for “I” as in the pronoun, but I think it most likely stands for “Idol” since idol is pronounced as “A—i—do—ru” in Japanese. Ai says I love you to her kids the first and last time before her death and realizes that her love for them were genuine. I know that Ai’s death comes as unfortunate for some fans and viewers, but it’s the point of the show.
The show is about the darkness of the entertainment industry and how Ai was a victim of said darkness. Because of that, Aqua got dipped into the darkness at about the age of four and sought revenge against Ai’s true killer as he realized someone had sent the stalker behind the scenes. I kind of like how the narrative splits between the two main protagonists. Aqua’s path is how the industry’s darkness can affect anyone; it has affected him to the point that he’s becoming a product of said darkness with his desire for vengeance and the way he’d use anyone to achieve that goal. Ruby represents the flowery, glamorous portion of the industry. Note how Ruby wasn’t fully present during Ai’s death due to her being locked out behind the door that she was leaning against. While Ai’s death has affected Ruby as much as Aqua, she still walks a path of light because of her strong desire to uphold her mom’s legacy and to become an idol as great as her.
Aqua and Ruby are the MCs of this story, but I feel like Ruby doesn’t get enough screen time, which is why I feel like she’s the weakest part of the anime so far. This anime is mainly Aqua diving into each possible plot point that can give him a clue to Ai’s true killer. Ai is the catalyst, Aqua is the driving force and Ruby is just exposition. Exposition is good for the readers, but I feel like that role diminishes later on as Kana comes into the picture as she’s more aware of the industry than Ruby. Since Season 2 has been announced, I do hope Ruby gets more screen time.
Because this is a character-driven drama story, the characters are the prime focus. In addition to the twins, there are a plethora of supporting characters who help them with their goals. We first have Miyako and Ichigo. Ichigo is the CEO of Strawberry Productions and Miyako’s husband. He’s the one who recruited Ai into becoming an idol and formed B-Komachi. Miyako wasn’t thrilled about her marriage at first and was even forced to babysit the twins; she only got married to Ichigo because she wanted to meet hot guys. Eventually, she warms up to the twins to the point that she actually adopts them as her kids after Ai’s death and her husband’s disappearance. While Ichigo and Miyako are important figures in Ai’s life, I feel like Ichigo disappearing kind of makes him look bad. Miyako pretty much kept everything afloat since the incident. I was surprised how much she changed after caring for the twins. Miyako is a neutral character who knows about the darkness of the entertainment world but isn’t innocent to get tainted. She’s kind of like mission control of the story as she’s the one who gets Aqua gigs and forms the new B-Komachi for Ruby with the help of Aqua who recruits two members.
The first of the two he recruits is my favorite character and THE scene stealer of the entire show, Kana Arima! Kana is a character who was considered a genius child actress (not a baking soda licker) but eventually lost the spotlight as she got older. Her story is basically the dark path child actors face when they get older. It’s a very harsh world. People once thought Kana was astounding and she had so many jobs as a child, but when she got older, nobody wanted her anymore. People even believed she was past her prime since the child Kana they all wanted was gone and that no one wanted the teen Kana. The last episode of this season reveals that Kana’s issues comes from the fact that she feels like she won’t be complete unless someone needs her, which shows how much psychological damage the industry can have on a child.
Kana is a character who wants to look for light in her darkness and eventually sees it in Aqua despite him drowning in darkness. I think what makes Kana so compelling is the fact that she cares more about being used for her talents and not past fame and such. She wants to be acknowledged as a good actress and not someone who used to be a child actress. Even if her gigs are bad (the drama she was in was SO cringe, especially with the way the male actor was acting).
Kana is a perfectionist and harshly criticizes herself when something doesn’t go right in her eyes. I can relate to her a lot; while I am not an actress, I can relate when it comes to writing. I used to write fanfic. One fan fiction in particular had a lot good reviews, but the popularity scared me, so I stopped fan fiction writing to focus on original works. When I changed paths, I felt like my writing wasn’t as good as it was when I wrote fan fiction and it made me wonder if this was the path for me at times. The fact that Kana went through a lot just to survive because she does love acting from the bottom of her heart speaks a lot for me. I’m glad that she took Aqua’s offer into becoming an idol because idols get a lot of gigs from singing to acting. I’m sure more opportunities will come for her the more she enjoys her idol life. Though, I do feel bad for her because her crush on Aqua’s very complicated as she likes him, but his feelings are ambiguous at best because he clearly doesn’t want to be in a relationship as he’s too fixated on revenge, but he does have a soft spot for her that’s different from his soft spot towards his sister.
The second idol that Aqua recruits for B-Komachi is Mem-cho. Mem-cho is a YouTuber known for her bubbly personality. She was on the same reality dating show Aqua was on and told him about how she wanted to be an idol at first but her lost her chance and resorted to becoming a YouTuber. While she does grab onto her idol dream after Aqua makes an offer, it turns out that she’s been lying about her age. While she poses as an 18 year old, she’s actually 25. In the idol industry, they value youthful girls above all. Anyone past 20 is considered too old for an idol. I know it’s cruel to think like that, but that’s how Japan’s idol system works. While 20+ year old idol debuts are common in Korea, it’s different for Japanese standards as they value youth. Mem-cho’s issues is very realistic and I like that. However, I do wish that Mem-cho got more screen time as a character and not as the cute background character. I hope Season 2 changes that.
In the same reality show that Aqua and Mem-cho are a part of lies another important supporting character, Akane Kurokawa. Akane is a passionate theater actress who’s considered a genius in her theater troupe, Lala Lai. However, even if she’s considered great in her theater world, she’s anything but in the filming world. She has no presence, which means no screen time. When she tries to step up, she accidentally scratches Yuki’s face. This causes her to be dunked into cancel culture. Akane is a character who was basked in pure light but got forcibly pulled into the world of darkness because of cancel culture and cyberbullying.
There was a controversy that broke out in the real world regarding Akane’s cyberbullying case. After the airing of Episode 6, a complaint was filed. The filer turned out to be the mother of Hana Kimura. If you’re unaware, Hana Kimura was a MMA athlete who was on a reality show called Terrace House. She did some things that caused her to be targeted for cyberbullying. When it got too much for her to bear, she decided to take her own life at the young age of 23. While the events of the incidents seem similar, the author never officially confirmed if Akane’s story was based off of the late Ms. Kimura’s. However, because Mrs. Kimura, the mother, filed a complaint, there were people that started cyberbullying her. I don’t want to get into it too much, but you can watch The Anime Man’s video regarding this topic to get a bigger picture. Long story short, I stand by my claim of the entertainment industry being the darkness in people.
Because of the incident, the light she was basked in is no longer pure. While she does manage to come back, she’s definitely not the meek Akane Kurokawa from before; she’s an evolved Akane who is able to use her acting prowess and amazing analytical abilities to capture the essence of a person she does not know personally and do it in a way that the aloof Aqua manages to keel over for her. I’m amazed that Akane is able to do this. This makes Akane like a wildcard honestly. It’s unknown if she’s going to be someone who’s going on a dark path or if she’s going to go on a light path. Just please do not reduce her to someone who lacks agency around Aqua. PLEASE.
I do wish that there were more male character to balance out the female cast. I want to see more of Pieyon, the Director and more. Fortunately, it seems that there will be more males in next season. I want to see Aqua interact with male characters.
The last thing I want to talk about is the voice acting. The voice acting is good. My favorite female voice actress Megumi Han steals the show with her performance as best girl Kana. If you’re not familiar with Han’s roles, she voices Gon from Hunter x Hunter, Yamato from My Love Story!!, and Jill Warrick from Final Fantasy XVI. Her range is insane and it’s because of Kana that my love for Han’s acting increases day by day. Aqua and Ruby are voiced by Takeo Ohtsuka, whom I’m not too familiar with and Yurie Igoma, who’s a complete rookie. I think they’re doing a great job with the twins. They make them sound distinct and not too basic. Rumi Okubo as Mem-cho fits her perfectly. Manami Iwakura as Akane shows off her acting prowess. If you’re not familiar with Iwakura’s roles, she voices Tohru Honda in the Fruits Basket remake. I’m familiar with her soft voice, but the way she is able to voice Akane the way she did in Episode 8 really proves that she is versatile. I want to see more roles of her. Rie Takahashi did super well as Ai. I think the best performance of this show has to go to Pieyon. His VA uses a high pitched duck voice for most of his appearances. Like, that’s not even his normal voice, so props to him for being able to produce such a voice.
Overall, I highly recommend watching this anime if you want to watch a dark show. I can see why it’s so popular now that I’ve finished all 11 episodes and thought about it. I will gladly buy the manga and read on ahead. I can definitely say that this is Spring 2023’s best show. Sorry, Demon Slayer. Oshi no Ko is just too good.
Also, did you know that there’s two meanings of Oshi no Ko? Oshi means bias, if you’re familiar with English idol lingo. Ko usually means child, but it’s also another way to say “person”. Oshi no Ko can either mean “My Bias’s Child” or “My Bias/My Favorite Star” in a contextual term.
I hope you enjoyed my review and please watch Oshi no Ko!
Born on August 16th, 1997 in Yeosu, South Korea, Chan-hee was born as the second and final child to two freelance photographers. As their parents were frequently in completely different countries, Chan-hee and her older brother spent most of their childhoods being raised by their aunt. However, once they were both old enough, their parents often took their children with them on work trips. Chan-hee would spend a lot of her time in countries such as the United Kingdom, Germany, Singapore, and Taiwan.
During her freshman year, Chan-hee would participate in an exchange program to Japan, alongside her brother. There, she would see T-ARA live for the first time, which was a group she already enjoyed. upon returning home, Chan-hee found a new love for the music industry.
With the help of her brother, she auditioned for MBK Entertainment, but failed to pass the first round. Chan-hee would spend the next few months honing her skills, and would even attempt to appear on the fourth season of Superstar K, but would fail yet again. Eventually, she would try her hand at auditions for BIGHIT Entertainment in the fall of 2012. and although Chan-hee would place second due to her inexperience, staff saw potential in her, and she was accepted regardless.
Out of all the members of KRUSH, Chan-hee took up the most modeling gigs during her trainee years, often modeling as a trio alongside Kaleina and Aeri. of course, as the GLAM scandal rocked BigHit in 2014, many female trainees were forced to join other companies. However, since the three worked so well together, BigHit surprisingly changed their minds, hoping that they could try their hands again at another girl group.
For the next two years, though, the girls' debut was constantly postponed. And as Chan-hee's eighteenth birthday came and went, she considered departing from BigHit to apply for college, as initially, she wanted to follow in her parents' footsteps. The longer their debut was postponed, the closer she came to adulthood, and to her, it seemed as if her career in the idol industry was on the rocks. However, with enough pleading from Aeri and Kaleina, Chan-hee stayed.
And merely a year later, Chan-hee would be the second member of KRUSH to be revealed, debuting as the group's lead vocalist and oldest member. Due to her visuals and motherly attitude, Chan-hee has risen to become the group's second most popular member, especially in South Korea.
Marcia Hines headlines Broken Heel's final festival
New Post has been published on https://qnews.com.au/marcia-hines-headlines-broken-heels-final-festival/
Marcia Hines headlines Broken Heel's final festival
Superstar Marcia Hines brings the heat as she brings Disco Inferno to Broken Heel’s final festival.
If you thought the Priscilla Queen of the Desert inspired festival Broken Heel couldn’t get any bigger for the films 30th anniversary, you’d be wrong.
With a career in the entertainment industry spanning over 50 years; Marcia Hines is coming for the festivals last hurrah, and she can’t wait.
“I’m going out there and performing for the people who gave me the career I’ve got.” Marcia told us.
“People in the main cities have it so lucky, they get everything. As a performer, you owe it to your audience to go anywhere you possibly can.”
Ready for Broken Hill to dazzle
With 26 albums, countless chart-topping singles, so many stage productions, plus helping others in the industry grow on Australian Idol, you’d think Marcia would want to take a break!
“I love what I do, and I think it helps immensely when you don’t think of what you do at work.” she said while performing in the musical Greece in Perth, “I look at it as my blessing, and I love being able to say that.”
Marcia won’t be outshone when it comes to glitter and glam when she heads to Broken Heel later this year.
She is bringing her Disco Inferno show for all to enjoy on the festivals eventful Friday night.
“I’m performing with some very talented people onstage.” she told us, “We work hard at it, and we can’t wait to entertain the audiences on the night.”
“I love regional areas because people don’t mind traveling a few hundred kilometers to see a show, and that works for me too.”
Celebrating community
With the festival located in the far west region of outback New South Wales near the border of South Australia, getting there can be a bit of a drive.
Luckily the Broken Heel team have coordinated travel options from coach, train and air so that all you must do is pack your boa and get ready to party.
The inland mining town is transformed into a pride-filled hub for five days, creating an inclusive space in an area many people wouldn’t think it would be.
But that is why Marcia is excited to headline there this year.
“This is the community that brought me up.” she said.
“Back in the day, I lost maybe 75% of my boyfriends because of the epidemic that hit us. Those people helped me immensely in my life.”
“That’s the great thing about the performance arts. We’re all family.”
“And the community, that’s where a lot of the artistic and theatrical parts of the world came from.”
“When nobody else knew of us. They lifted most of the music that was happening in the disco era. In the clubs and all the incredible spaces.”
Celebrate disco, drag and more with the one and only Marcia Hines this September at the Broken Heel from 5th -9th September.
Kelly's PokéBand
All the pokémon that Kelly has chosen specifically for her band and which are not very interested or aren't active often in battles, preferring to show off their skills in music at their trainer's concerts.
Ashley, the [Low key form] Toxtricity on bass
Ashley will not relinquish her position as the band's bassist for nothing, very different from the former bassist who only let himself be bribed for a pittance;
Kelly doesn't need her empathic powers to win Ashley over and get her excited to play, the sincere love for music that the pokémon trainer demonstrates is more than enough;
Both she and Amber love sharing moments with Kelly, especially when music is involved like Kelly just as chilling with all the pokémon in the ranch while playing guitar melodies along with Ashley.
Alecia, the [Shiny] Greninja on drums
So Galar has a gorilla drummer huh? Okay, cool…
But not as cool as a ninja frog who can give a Rillaboom a run for his berries if we're talking drumming skills.
Oh come on! Make way for the one and only amazing Alecia! She learned from the best drummer since said pokémon was still a frokie!
Alecia proved it by humiliating the Galar's UNBEATABLE Grand Champion's rillabom in a drum skills competition!
(Dude, Alecia can play classical music on the drums easily, obviously every rillaboom doesn't stand a chance against this ninja frog pokémon's drumming skills);
And when Kelly managed to make her career as a singer and pop idol take off, Alecia even received the position of drummer in her trainer's band with flying colors! Don't @ her!
Amber, the [Amped form] Toxtricity on guitar
Pfft! Amber and Kelly are the wild duo in the band and lovers of various rock genres;
Classic Rock, Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, Indie Rock, Glam Rock, Punk Rock, Grunge, Progressive Rock, Country Rock, you name it.
But Metal is a favourite, especially when Kelly wants to vent her frustrations and does special Heavy Metal versions of other songs of hers and Amber just goes wild;
Amber, like Ashley, loves her guitarist position and she won't give it up for anything, at least not without putting a good fight to defend her position.
Lucy, the Inkay on DJing and synthesis
The sweetheart and cutie of the band and fans!
Lucy is the sweet little bean and the entire Kelly's fanbase loves the little pokémon and gushes over how cute she is having fun while she's the DJ band at concerts;
Kelly once invited Piers to feature on an album of the Metal version of her songs and some new ones and he cried and fainted not unable to handle Lucy's cuteness when he saw her DJing all happy and helping Kelly record a Metal version of one of the pop idol's greatest hits;
Well, Kelly's Charlie the Rotom still being quite mischievous had recorded and shared the moment thhat become a meme;
And Piers has no regrets gushing about Lucy's cuteness so don't @ him;
(This spawned another meme);
Pretty much all of Galar (and the rest of Kelly's fanbase around the world) couldn't handle her cuteness either so everyone was even.
Juan, the Inteleon on piano and keyboard
Pfft! Excuse me? Did anyone really think they could be the band's pianist besides Juan himself? Nah, dream about it!
Juan is just like Alecia, he was personally taught by Kelly who has innate skills both in singing and playing practically any instrument;
(Bruh, Juan made the most talented pianist in Galar cry and get emotional with the pokémon playing his own interpretation of a collection of classic operas);
Juan's hands are solely for art and play the piano that he so reveres as a symbol of overcoming his unhappy past and a mark of unconditional love from his trainer who made him what he is today;
Well, unless there are other male Pokémon flirting and courting his mate, Alecia... Then he's going choice violence;
(And yes, he is glaring menacingly at Leon's rillaboom).
Marisol, the Primarina on vocals
Marisol would obviously be a vocalist with Kelly and as a pokémon known as a soloist she knows what she's doing;
Obviously many of Kelly's fans freaked out about Marisol being able to speak like a human, but Kelly's fanbase soon fell in love with how amazing duo these two form on vocals and their performances;
When this duo hits the high notes? The audience goes crazy!
Marisol loves singing with Kelly and having fun with the rest of the band, whether it's just casually or during rehearsals and shows she can't describe how happy she is.
paint night ~ kth | 1
summary: You crash Taehyung's birthday paint night and ruin it with your attitude.
✨ title: paint night | ✨ pairing: taehyung x f!reader ✨ word count: 2.6k | ✨ rating: PG-13 ✨ genre: non-idol!au, romance, fluff, angst, strangers-to-lovers? ✨ warnings: swearing
Your friends, Alex and Han-na thought it would be fun to go to a 'wine and paint night', but you didn't see the appeal in drinking wine while you were painting. Imagine being buzzed and tipsy and the painting looks like shit. Because you were sure that that's how your painting would turn out. You didn't have the best coordination when you had alcohol in your system.
Alex and Han-na came over all glitzed and glammed up. You pursed your lips and rolled your eyes, as you stood there in your hoodie, jeans and boots. "Aren't we just going to get paint on our clothes?"
"You can't wear that," Alex exclaimed.
"What? Why not? It's cold and snowing. You're lucky I even agreed to this," you said as you finished putting on a coat.
"Go change, please," Ha-na pleaded as she started heading towards your bedroom and began rummaging through your closet. She would pick up a few items of clothing and shook her head until she came across an a-line long sleeve leopard dress. "Ah, this'll do."
"Why are we getting all dressed up anyway?" you asked as you began to change out of the clothes you were wearing previously.
"You never know who you'll meet at these things," said Han-na.
Alex walked in. "Just change. Who's got your panties all up in a twist?"
Han-na chuckled. "She needs to get her panties undone, that's what. Change your attitude."
You huffed at her comment. You did not need to 'get your panties undone' by anyone. It's been stressful at work, especially near the holidays with so many projects and deadlines.
"You two are ridiculous. Who could you possibly meet at something like this?"
Boy, were you wrong. There must have been a group or something who decided to attend the same night you guys were there too. As the three of you chose your seats, the six men sitting behind you were already in front of their canvases, drinking and loudly conversing.
As soon as Alex filled her glass of wine, she walked to the front of the room towards who you guessed was the teacher for the night. She tucked her hair behind her ear and chuckled shamelessly at the smiley muscular man.
"Does Alex know him?"
"Yeah, that's Jungkook. I think they knew each other through art school," Han-na replied.
"And he owns this place?" He looked young to be honest, to own a studio like this. It was a smart idea, you had to give him that.
"Mhm, why? You interested in him or something?" she asked.
Annoyed, you snapped back, "I'm just curious. I'm not looking to get into his pants."
Alex scurried back to her seat next to you and Han-na. She looked giddy and buzzed off her conversation with Jungkook.
"Jungkook invited us out afterwards with him and his friends," she whispered.
Ah, so that's why Alex and Han-na wanted to get all dolled up. You should have known. You rolled your eyes and sighed, and took a sip of your wine.
The color palette chosen for tonight's painting reminded you of a warm sunset, the kind you see when you're walking along a sandy beach. One of your favorite things to do when you went to visit some friends in Busan.
Jungkook interrupted your thoughts. "Hi everyone, it's a small class today since we're closed for a special birthday party."
"Are we crashing someone's party?" you asked quietly.
"No, we were invited," Alex responded with a pompous smile and cocked eyebrow.
"And you're only telling me this now?"
"I knew you wouldn't go to a party so I had to be creative," she proclaimed.
"Tonight is Taehyungie's birthday, so we're celebrating by doing one of his favorite things: painting," Jungkook explained.
That's a new and fun way to celebrate you suppose. Most guys you knew just went out for drinks to celebrate. Alex and Han-na turned around to toast the birthday boy, as did you. Taehyung was breathtaking to the eye. His eyes were kind and his smile was boxy. The leaf-printed button down complimented his golden skin perfectly, while paired with black slacks, brown loafers, and a black beanie adorning his head. His friend sitting next to him, pulled out a cone shaped party hat and put it on his head. Taehyung shyly smiled as everyone was giving him their attention.
"Speech--speech." The ethereal looking man on the other side of him exclaimed. Taehyung protested but the man next to him wouldn't let go until he did.
He cleared his throat and stood up, holding his glass of wine. "Thank you everyone for coming and hanging out with me on my birthday. As I get older I just want to be able to spend time with those who I love and care about. Let's have some fun painting tonight. Enjoy."
Everyone cheered and raised their glasses to him. The two of you grinned as you caught each other's eye, while raising your glasses and sipping on your wine.
The night continued with Jungkook leading the class in painting a sunset, like you had pictured earlier. Hues of purple and orange coated your canvas. You took a step back to see your creation and thought it wasn't bad for your first time. You swore it would look like shit with the good amount of alcohol in your system.
Jungkook came around to look at everyone's work and praised the three of you. As he went back to look at his friend's works, he couldn't help but laugh at their attempt to paint.
"You guys didn't even try," he laughed.
"Maybe you're not a good teacher," said the handsome broad-shouldered man jokingly.
"Jungkookie, Jin-hyung is just kidding. You're a great teacher," said the man with a bright and energetic aura.
As Jungkook went over to the birthday boy's canvas, he let out a sigh and shook his head. "You did something completely different but I'll forgive you since it's your birthday." He gave Taehyung a shoulder rub and moved on.
Paint night was coming to an end and everyone was getting ready to head out. You were curious as to what the birthday boy had painted. The group was huddled by the door getting their coats on, and you quietly sneaked off to see what was on his canvas.
His canvas was not filled with the warm colors that were provided, instead with a darker vibrant palette of black, red, white, and green. As far as you could tell, it looked like a face with the written phrase, 'You make me wanna be a better man.'
"Huh...interesting," you expressed out loud.
"You don't like it?"
"Oh--no no, I didn't say I don't like it. It's just a very interesting piece, that's all," you explained. His style was very unique, you hadn't seen anything like it to be frank. "What was your inspiration?"
He thought about it for a moment before answering, "Mm I don't know. I just let whatever I wanted come to mind, and this came out."
"I wish I could do that," you chuckled.
"You can," he said firmly.
"I don't think so. I overthink everything, each stroke I make, the colors I use..I was never good in art class," you explained.
"Your sunset looks good to me," he replied.
"I think the wine helped with that," you chuckled softly.
"I'm Taehyung by the way," he said with that same boxy smile from earlier.
"I'm Y/n. Sorry for crashing your birthday party. I didn't know I was being dragged here."
He seemed bothered by your comment. "I'm sorry my birthday was an inconvenience to you."
"No, that's not what I---"
"Hey, we're leaving! Come on," Jin yelled towards the two of you.
The night continued with more drinks and food (finally, because you were getting hangry). Your heart was beating quickly and your palms were getting sweaty, thinking about the comment you made earlier to Taehyung. You didn't mean it that way at all. You were hoping to catch him alone so that you could explain and apologize.
"Another toast to the birthday boy!" The ethereal man, named Jimin shouted. He was clearly buzzed and was having a lot of fun, giggling his way through a late night dinner.
Everyone clinked their shot glasses and downed their yogurt soju.
"I'm going to use the restroom," you mentioned to Han-na.
Looking at yourself in the mirror, you thought about the impression you made on Taehyung. He was just trying to enjoy his birthday and you ruined it by that stupid comment. What's wrong with you? You softly slapped your cheeks, embarrassed with yourself.
As you stepped out of the restroom, you bumped into Taehyung. "Oh--sorry," he mumbled as he continued on his way.
This was your chance to say something before you couldn't for the rest of the night. "Wait--," you exclaimed.
He turned around and slowly walked back towards you. An awkward silence surrounding the both of you. He quirked his eyebrows up, waiting for you to say something.
"I wanted to apologize about earlier. The comment I made was stupid and I didn't mean for it to sound like I didn't want to be here, because I do," you explained.
He acknowledged what you said and went back on his way to the restroom. Since he didn't say anything back, you wondered if you had hurt him more than you thought you did. "Gosh, I'm such a jerk," you muttered under your breath.
The group of men and your friends were still celebrating as you returned. From what you could tell, Jimin seemed closest to Taehyung, so you whispered to ask what Taehyung's favorite dish was.
As he came back to the table, the waiter came over with a plate of japchae and placed it in front of him. "I didn't order this," shaking his hands.
"Y/n ordered that for you," Jimin replied, "Isn't that sweet?" He smiled brightly towards the confused birthday boy.
It was getting late when everyone decided to call it a night. Alex ordered a cab for the three of you while the guys were being gentleman's and waited for it to come. Even though you doubled up on the black tights, it did not help with the cold winter chill blowing through this December night. Thankfully the big winter coat helped with the top half of your body.
While waiting for the cab, Jin and Jungkook found a good patch of snow that freshly dusted Seoul. They started forming snowballs and throwing them at the rest of the guys, then Alex and Han-na joined in. All of a sudden, you felt cold ice hit the back of your hair. You turned around to see a surprised Taehyung. His hand covering his mouth and eyes widened in shock about what he just did. It looked like he didn't mean to hit you but did anyway.
You walked over to a fresh patch of snow to begin forming your own snowball seeking revenge. Everyone began squealing and laughing as the fight continued. You were searching for Taehyung when he popped out from behind a bush and you aimed that snowball straight towards his face. He covered his face and then went down.
"Oh--fuck!" You shouted, worried that you really hurt him again, physically this time. You ran towards him and his hands were still covering his face. "Oh my god, are you okay?"
He didn't respond and that worried you even more. You crouched down and all of a sudden, he pulled you towards him, laughing as he grabbed some snow to rub in your face.
"Yahh--I thought you were really hurt," you shouted as you tried to get out of his embrace. He finally let you get up. You brushed the snow off of yourself and he held his hand out towards you to help him get up. You rolled your eyes as you reached out to him. He continued to chuckle as he stood up. His smug smile showing how pleased he was with himself.
He took off his damp beanie, letting out a fluffy, wavy, medium length hair. He ruffled it as he smiled at you. When a light finally shown on his face, you noticed a huge red spot expanded across his cheek. You gasped at what you did earlier.
"What?" he asked.
"Um, your face," you replied as you brought your hand up towards his face and softly brushed your thumbs against his cheek. "It's all red."
"Is this how you celebrate someone's birthday? Insult their artwork, hate that you're at their party, and throw a snowball at their face?"
"First of all, I did not insult your artwork, I apologized for my comment, and you threw a snowball at me," you didn't mean to sound like a brat, but you did.
"Well, you can say it was payback then," he smirked.
"I'll let you get away with it since it's your birthday, but I won't let you get away with it next time," you declared.
As the cab hadn't showed up yet, the rest of the group didn't seem to mind and began sitting around and singing their hearts out. You stood there laughing at their drunk asses, then you felt someone nudge up against your shoulder.
"Wanna go on a walk?" The birthday boy asked. You nodded and followed alongside him.
The wind chill wasn't letting up tonight. You tried to gather your coat even more to cover yourself, but it was no use. Taehyung could see you struggling, as he handed over the hand warmer he had in his pocket.
"Thanks," you muttered.
"Are you always this moody?" he chuckled.
"Only when it's someone's birthday," you said cheekily.
"Oof--I don't want to be around when it's your birthday then," he said with another chuckle.
You weren't always this bitchy, you swear. The end-of-the-year festivities always brought a sour mood in you. It was a cruel reminder of how lonely you were. Then again, it shouldn't be an excuse to be a bitch towards your friends who just wanted to have some fun.
You abruptly stop and turn towards him. "I promise I'm nice and fun...sometimes." You smirked and continued on your way.
He swiftly followed behind you and caught up. "Mhm, I believe you." Clearly, you left a bad taste in his mouth, but it's not like you were trying to leave an impression on him. You'd only just met him.
"Again, I'm sorry for ruining your birthday. How can I make it up to you?" you asked genuinely. You did feel really bad for being such a sour puss tonight.
Taehyung thought about it before answering, "Mm, how about a birthday present?"
"A present?" What could you possibly give to him at this time of night? Nothing was open.
"Yah--Y/n! The cab will be here soon," Alex yelled.
"Okay!"
He was waiting for an answer from you. You couldn't think of anything to give him, but you inched closer and held onto the lapels of his coat, and reached up so that your nose was brushing up against his. You could see his eyes startled by your gesture, but he didn't resist. So close to his lips, you could feel his breath on yours, the cold air escaping from the both of you. He was ready to move in before you pulled away, "I guess I owe you a present."
"Y/n!" Alex and Han-na yelled.
"Coming!" You said as you started backing away from Taehyung. He was speechless as you left him stranded after your little interaction. You turned back around and yelled, "Happy Birthday!"
[INTERVIEW] Why Wonho Prefers to Keep His Beauty Routine Minimal
K-pop idol Wonho talks to Allure via Zoom about his new EP, Facade, and explains why his beauty and style habits are as simple and timeless as ever.
The day before I hop onto a Zoom call with Wonho, I'm watching a video on his workout routine with my mouth slightly agape. It's as if with each passing year, the dude gets increasingly shredded. It seems like a nearly impossible feat, but somehow Wonho makes it happen.
In my mind, the same can be said about his burgeoning solo music career, which bloomed out of unfortunate circumstances after he had already found major success as a member of Monsta X (after three years of hardcore pre-debut training, no less). Years later, after his initial debut, he's defining his own destiny as a soloist through raw lyrics and performances one might not necessarily expect from a typical K-pop idol. (I mean, have you heard the lyrics for "Losing You?")
Take a gander at his Instagram and you'll find rows of casual photos — amongst a few promotional photos and thirst traps…I mean, shirtless snaps of his workout progress — showcasing his bare face (or what appears to be him wearing very minimal makeup, if any) and wearing comfortable clothes. As one commenter says, "Man's just serving us with the "boyfriend" photos huh." (She has a point there.) It's a far cry, one might say, from his days as an idol group member, when he was constantly zhuzhed up with copper eye shadow and bold graphic liner.
But then again, Wonho is such a captivating performer and dancer that it's no surprise he also doesn't feel the need to go all-out on makeup. As long as he has clean-looking base makeup and foundation that evens out his skin tone, his glam team can take flashy, heavy eye makeup out of the equation. In his daily life, he forgoes the base makeup all together but does draw in his brows to frame his face occasionally. As far as I've noticed from the K-pop idols I've interviewed or read about, they tend to go easy on makeup when not on the clock, so they can give their complexions some much-needed breathing time.
You scoffed when you saw what your bandmate tweeted out, tweeting as if he wasn’t using his phone either. Deciding to throw something at him, you spot a plastic perfume bottle, reaching out for it, only for Luna, your other bandmate to slap your hands of her perfume bottle.
“Don’t you dare.” She playfully glares before turning back to her original position, with her hair stylist tending to her long reddish-brown hair.
“Sebastian, you are so lucky you’re on the other side of the room right now or I swear to God, you would have a concussion.” You frowned, before turning back to your phone, further proving Sebastian’s point.
“See?! What are you even doing?” He loudly asks, you barely hearing him from the noise of blowdryers.
“Writing.” You answered, annoyed. It wasn’t a lie tho, You were now writing a new song, since your management once again are rushing you to write at least 12 songs for your new album.
“We wrote 3 songs yesterday. Calm down.” Your bassist, Luna reassured you, who just finished her glams.
“We’re supposed to be finished with this by the end of the month. How am I supposed to calm down?” You complained.
Ever since your band, Coldify, got enough attention, your management barely gave you enough time to just breathe and write like you used to, How were you supposed to produce quality music?
“Choco Milk?” Jace, your drummer offers you his second cup
“No thank you. Hot sweet things stress my throat. Maybe later though.” You stood up, thanking your stylists, before changing into your casual clothes, since you would be doing a Q and A session first as a soundcheck and also for extra fan service before the concert proper.
Once you finished changing, you walked out of your dressing room, only to find that your bandmates are now all set up, all except you.
Jace is fiddling with his drum sticks
Luna is tuning her bass guitar
And Sebastian is playing a random tune on his electric guitar.
You rolled your eyes at them, before slinging your own acoustic guitar over your shoulder, the familiar weight and pressure of it’s strap makes you smile.
“Are we ready guys? We can start now, there’s only 5 minutes left.” You asked them, plugging in your “in-ears”
They all nodded at you and you guys started to do your signature intro, you playing a few notes on your acoustic, followed by Sebastian and Luna, then you all run out, hearing the screams of your fans intensify, before Jace started banging on his drums, ending your intro with all of you guys harmonizing your band name and lifting your right arms up, showing the compass tattooed into the insides of your wrists, symbolizing your band and the friendship that will never grow old.
“What is up LA!?” You loudly said into the mic, chuckling when they screamed louder than your own mic.
“Well, we certainly need to up the mic volume later.” Luna giggled, sitting on one of the chairs positioned in the middle of the stage.
“Mhhmmn. Let’s all calm down first yes? You guys save your energy for later.” Sebastian winked into the crowd, also sitting on one of the chairs, with his mic in his hand.
“Great, great. We’re all settled in, Please sit down and let’s start this 1 and a half hour Q and A? Soundcheck? Fan service? Whatever you want to call this whole shebang.” You joked, thanking the staff that gave you your own water bottle.
“You know the drill, if you don’t that’s fine. My name is Luna and I am the one who plays the amazing silver-gray bass back there.” Luna introduces herself
“That amazing silver-gray bass that you would marry someday. I swear you are inlove with that thing.” Sebastian teased, earning him a loud smack to the shoulder.
“That is animal abuse. Stop it.” You hold in your laugh, but bursted out laughing anyways when you saw the appalled look on his face.
“My name is Jace. And I bang my sticks into a hallow cylindrical thing for a living. I heard they’re called drums but whatever. I also live with these idiots and I, unfortunately, am the one who holds their leashes.” Jace introduces himself, smiling into the crowd
“Okay, Father. My Name is Sebastian. aka the most attractive one in this group. I play the guitarrrrrr. You guys can call me Seb, Sebastian or Daddy. Your choice.” He winked.
“Ew.” All three of you pretended to gagged, before laughing at Sebastian’s pouting face, your audience also laughing at your antics.
“Okay- Okay, Stop. We need to be serious. Gosh. My name’s Y/N! And I’m your local sapphic lead singer. Yes, I need to say that everyday because people still debate that I’m straight. It’s annoying” You introduce, taking a sip of your water
“Right. So this is how it’s gonna work. There are multiple Coldify interrogators, as we call them, roaming around, all you have to do, is raise your hand, first one they see wins the first question. And the cycle continues until we run out of time.” You explained
“HmmHmmn. So are you guys ready?” Luna asks, earning a few “Yes!” and “WHOOOOO” making all you guys chuckle.
“Okaaaay! on 3. 1,2,3! OH! That redhead with the all black attire. I like that.” Sebastian calls, waiting for the guy in the uniform to hand the girl the mic.
“What’s your name love?” Jace asked the now blushing girl
“Ah. Kadie. I just wanna say that I am such a big fan and I wanted to know if, besides the tattoo you guys have right now, the compass, are you guys still planning on getting a matching tattoo?”
“Ooooh. Tattooes. Hmm. I personally would love to have another tattoo. But you see, Sebastian here cried when we first tattoed. And I am not looking forward to that at all.” Luna answered, laughing when Sebastian whined.
“Oh yeah. No. Not again.” Jace agreed, while you just smiled and nodded.
“Next Question Please.” Sebastian interjected before you could even talk
“Hi my name’s Catherine-” You guys interrupted her to say hi
“Hehe. Hi. Uhm, I wanted to know if you guys have like, favourite youtubers or streamers?” She asks shyly, which made you smile.
“Oooooo. Okay, now you guys get to know why I tweeted that earlier.” Sebastian chuckles
“Okay Mr. Snitch. But uhm. I would have to say... Sykkuno. His voice is just the best-”
“Excuse me? Corpse?! Hello? Corpse has the best voice don’t even. He’s my favourite, what you said was just Corpse slander” Sebastian interrupts Luna, to which Luna answered with a glare.
“Uh-huh. Okay. As I was saying, Corpse’s voice is good, but Syk’s is just this wholesome anime type voice that just melt’s your heart you know? He should be a voice actor for like, an anime protagonist. AND HIS PERSONALITY IS SO GOOD AND WHOLESOME LIKE WHAT THE FUCK?” Luna gushes, nodding to Jace before she goes on a full rant
“I’m sure you won’t match with him, expecially since he’s quiet and you’re loud and abnoxious.” Sebastian casually says
“You know what?”
“Pokimane...” Jace speaks into the mic, interrupting the siblings from fighting. “...Because she’s actually a really good gamer, and she also has a cat called called “Mimi” and that’s major points in my book.” Jace says, smiling.
“Hmm. That’s actually a tough choice... I would have to say-” You were interrupted when your phone let out a noise, letting you know you forgot to silent it.
“BABUSHKA!” Your face felt hot as you desperately tried to put your phone in silent, but it was too late.
“My phone just outed me what the hell?” You mumbled into the mic, hiding your face as you hear your fans laugh and coo at your cuteness and embarrassment.
“Anyways, if that didn’t answer your question, I don’t know what will. But uhm, Valkyrae. 100 percent. She’s just really skilled in video games and has probably played more games than me. Also, she’s absolutely fucking gorgeous and I just love her personality and all.” You smiled, still feeling a little bit embarrassed
“I just love her personality- Please, last night you fell asleep to her playing a horror game. She screams alot in that video, I’m just saying. How could you sleep to literally her screaming in your ear?” Sebastian shrugs, ignoring the glares you sent him
“Just this morning, you were frowning because there was another viper on the team Rae was fighting against in Valorant, and you accused that viper of being a copycat.” Jace added
“Or the fact that you always flinch, or dodge and curse whenever someone shoots at Rae-” Luna finishes making you cover her mouth before she says something more
“Okay. I think it’s pretty obvious that I have a crush on Valkyrae but please- Stop.” You grumbled, frowning playfully at your fans when they awed at your band’s interaction.
“Next Fucking Question Please.” You huffed, closing your eyes and leaning back into your seat, trying to settle your beating heart
Rae will for sure see that. Oh my god. Thoughts of Rae seeing your clip of literally simping for her has your heart running marathons.
“Hi! Uhm, this question is for Y/N”
You hear the gasps of your bandmates, but you pay no attention to it since you were still gay panicking inside
“What will you do if you ever met Valkyrae in person?” a familiar voice echoed in your ears, you of course can’t figure out who it is.
“I honestly don’t know how I would react. Maybe faint? But then probably hug her? I dunno? Kiss her cheek maybe? I mean, how would you react if you meet your long time crush?” You answered mindlessly, chuckling silently knowing that you probably faint and be knocked out for God knows how long. Or maybe you’d fumble and embarrass yourself.
You hear your bandmates join in the laughter with the audience, and that made you open your eyes, throwing a confused glace to Luna who just patted your back and made eye contact with who, you presume, asked the question.
You followed her gaze, eyes widening when you saw the brown-eyed brunette beauty holding the mic. Your brain lagged, trying to comprehend the situation.
“Uhm, I mean- Unless, You know? She’s uncomfortable about it. I don’t wanna make her uncomfy, you get me? First impressions are a thing. I mean- I’m just gonna shut up.” You just spat words out before your brain could even comprehend it.
Come on Y/N keep it together. She gotta think that you’re cool. Not an awkward gay mess.
“Pfft- Little too late for the first impressions that included you being cool.” Jace threw his empty water bottle at you
“...I said that aloud didn’t I?” You asked, now trying to hide your face behind Luna’s back, who’s doubling over from laughter
“Please, someone tag me when you decide to upload this very moment. I wanna blackmail Y/N with it.” Sebastian wheezed out.
“I think we can do something with the hugging thing. Just don’t faint on me.” Your eyes snapped to Rae’s as you see the smirk etched on her face, her hands still holding the microphone
Your eyes widen as your fans, screamed and a series of “OOOOOOHHHH” and “Get it Y/N!” erupted, making your embarrassment amplify even more.
“Is it embarrass Y/N day today? God, please- Next Question please. Oh Jesus.” You put your face in your hands, trying to hide.
Thankfully, they didn’t pry anymore, your embarrassment slowly subsiding as they asked about your daily life, career, albums and upcoming awards. After finishing a couple more questions, you guys sang a couple cover songs, and that’s what concluded your soundcheck. (Sebastian managed to sneak in Janet’s PETTY song, which you rolled your eyes on but sang nonetheless.)
You walked out and to the backstage as you shoved Sebastian playfully for making kissy faces.
“Y/N and Rachell sitting on a tree-” He was suddenly cut off by someone
“K-I-S-S-I-N-G” Your gaze wonders to Pokimane, or Imane who just interrupted Sebastian
“Kissing?! Isn’t it a bit too early for that? Why would they kiss-” Sykkuno says glancing between Rae and I
You wondered if they said anything else because you’re going to be honest to yourself, you were only looking at Rae’s eyes. The deep brown orbs you only ever saw through your screen, was now staring right back at you, her brunette hair tied up in a bun- She’s staring back at you.
Quickly averting your eyes, you felt yourself grow shy, you now also find your shoes very attractive.
“Keep your head up or else you would faint on me and I don’t want that. I prefer to hug a conscious person, Thank you very much.” you lifted your head so fast you could’ve given yourself a whiplash. Darting your eyes around Rae, you quickly find that your friends + Imane and Sykkuno have left the both of you alone.
“Sorry. You just caught me off guard there. Hi! Uhm. I really don’t know what to say to you- Uhm.” You rub the back of your neck, nervously smiling at Rae you in turn smirked at you, raising her brow in the process.
She quietly chuckles before opening her arms, signaling for a hug, to which you launched yourself in, trying not to breathe because that would be so weird.
“Okay so now can you take out your knife and stab me just to make sure that this is real.” You stated, looking directly into her eyes
“...But I’m not the Impostor?”
“...Okay that’s clever-” You laughed, taking a sip out of your water bottle, leading her to your dressing room
“Speaking of, do you mind if I play with you guys sometimes? I’ll find time, I promise.” You say, watching the time considering you only have half an hour to change and get ready, not to mention your crush is right in front of you as well.
“Wait really? Yeah! Just DM me on twitter! I’ll organize a lobby just for you.” She replies, plopping herself on the sofa you have.
“Awe, I feel so... special” You smiled, finally composing yourself, emerging from behind the curtains, already in your performance outfit
“The almighty Creator of the Year, creating a lobby? For lil ol m-” You were greeted with a facefull of pillows thrown at you, just for that statement. Which made you laugh.
“Shut up.” She grinned
“I’m sorry, m’lady” You curtsied playfully, expecting her to start smacking your shoulders, instead when you lifted your head up, she was just sitting there with a soft smile on her face.
“You’re wearing my merch.” She stated
You widened your eyes then looked down, the hoodie that you just randomly picked up was her merch.
“I’m sorry, do you want it back?” You spit the words out before your mind could comprehend how idiotic that sounded
Rae bursted out laughing at your statement, putting her hand over her mouth while doubling over. You rolled your eyes at her and plopped down on the sofa, crossing your arms.
“Yeah, Yeah. Go on. Laugh. At least I can spell broccoli right.” You teased, poking her side
“OKAY! LISTEN HERE HOTSHOT! I-” she was interrupted by a series of knocks on the door.
“Y/N! PLEASE TELL ME YOU’RE DECENT AND IS NOT SEDUCING RAE BECAUSE THAT’S JUST WRONG” Sebastian loudly asked through the door
“Oh My God. Please just kill me.” You rubbed your face with your hands
“I’m pretty sure I’ll be the one doing the seducing but okay.” You hear her mumble under her breath, making you look at her with a scandalized look on your face
“DOOR’S UNLOCKED SEBASTIAN. DON’T BE AN IDIOT..” You replied
“Don’t mind him Y/N We’re just coming in to say that you have 5 minutes until we have to go onstage.” Luna softly replies, shoving Sebastian out your field of view.
“I’ll be right there Lune.” You stood up, smiling at Rae
“I guess that’s it. I’ll talk to you later? I think? Just check your DM’s soon yeah?” She pulls you into a hug, kissing your cheek as she pulls away.
“Good Luck out there. I know you’ll do great.” She smiles, walking out, leaving you to your thoughts
“Huh?” You touched your cheek, a smile slowly paints itself upon your face
"Come on, lovergirl we're running late." Jace drapes his arm around your shoulder
"She kissed my cheek." You say, still shocked
"Lucky You." Jace says, his ears reddening.
...lucky bastard
"POKI KISSED YOU TOO DIDN'T SHE?!" You screeched
'Hush!" His cheeks are also red now.
"Huh. I guess today's our lucky day." You grinned, now extremely happy and hyped
"Oh, check your e-mail now by the way. Manager says she sent our line up there." he pats your back, getting into his position, as best as he can considering the stage is now pitch black
"Huh. Okay." You pulled out your phone, sending a piece of paper flying. Bending down to pick it up, you feel your heart soften into mush and then it decides to run another marathon.
Just incase my Twitter DM's don't work, or if I'm streaming. xx 09-xxx-xxx-xxx
"Be still, my beating heart." You sighed out
Valkyrae just gave you her phone number
Hey Beautiful: Jennie x Reader
Request: Hii :) i have a request for jennie x femreader, where the reader is a famous idol and Jennie has a crush on her. They attend the same award show and at the end when they are backstage the reader asks Jennie for her number. Then they go on a date or something just cute stuff (fluff i guess😅)
A/N: I’ll write a continuation of this if you’d like for the date part :D
Awards show season was in full swing and you were to attend the MAMAs tonight. It was your first time attending without a date, usually your best friend tagged along but she was working the night shift at her job so she couldn’t make it.
You were already in your dress and your glam team was getting your hair and makeup done before you were to leave. This had been going on for hours and you were simply exhausted and hungry, the only thing keeping you going was knowing that you’d be seeing some friends of yours later in the evening.
It took two hours but eventually your hair and makeup were finished and you were cleared to leave. Your manager sat across from you in the car, a smile on his face as she teasingly asked, “so anyone you’re excited to meet in particular?”
You knew exactly what he meant, there was one person that had showed an interest in meeting you for months, Kim Jennie. To be honest when she said she was your fan in an interview, you were a little surprised. Despite being one of the most popular female soloists at the time, you were still shocked when you heard artists you looked up to liked you.
Jennie in particular had mentioned on many occasions that you were her ideal type and she’d date you if she had the chance. Blinks and your fans shipped the two of you heavily as well. Most of the time you hated when you were shipped with people you never met because it made for uncomfortable times when you actually did happen to meet them. It’d happened in the past when people shipped you with a popular member of a boy group, he was to produce a song with you. However with all of the shipping flying around, you didn’t want to risk you or him getting involved in a scandal that would just add fuel to the fire. But with Jennie you entertained it, saying you’d date her too and she was your ideal type as well. Fans had been praying for an interaction for the longest and you knew you two were probably going to cross paths tonight.
Once you’d walked the red carpet and avoided falling on your face, you were escorted inside to find your seat. The idols on the plus couch across from you were TWICE, the girls greeted you warmly, especially Nayeon who happened to be a close friend of yours.
She scooted closer to you, and started catching you up on everything that had happened in the past month because you two hadn’t talked in a bit. You were both performing tonight, she wasn’t nervous whereas you were for the first time.
Before Nayeon got up she nudged you gently, using her head to point you towards a familiar idol. You squinted, having forgotten your contacts at home, you realized it was Jennie, sitting with her members and talking to them. Nayeon stated, “I’m gonna call her over.”
You panicked, “No no, not yet. Don’t call her over- Nayeon I sweat to god-” YOur friend only laughed, waving the girl down and mouthing to her from afar. You froze, trying to look everywhere but at Jennie, this was not how you wanted to meet her for the first time. Giving up, you hid your face in Nayeon’s shoulder, your face beet red as you laughed, the rest of Twice laughing and teasing you playfully.
Nayeon patted your head, “she’s gone.”
You peeked from her shoulder to make sure she was serious and not playing a prank, and she was. Jennie was now talking to Irene, facing the other direction and not paying you any mind.
Nayeon told you, “you’re gonna need to work on that. She also said you’re cute...you missed it while you were hiding.”
You smacked her shoulder and said, “I wouldn’t have had to hide if you just left her alone in the first place Nay. That was so embarrassing please never put me through that traumatizing experience again.” She sighed and said “okay fine, but you should talk to her before the night ends. She really does like you.”
Nayeon scooted back towards her members and you focused straight ahead for the stage. As performances went on and awards were given out, you felt your heart race knowing that your big performance was coming up.
A staff came and got you from your seat to escort you backstage during a break. Your manager was already in your dressing room with your stylist, both of them getting everything you need for your performance. Your dancers were warming up as well in a corner.
You changed and start to warm up your vocals as well as your body, it was a new song and a new choreography which you’d never performed in front of such a large audience. The dance break was what you were most worried about because you hadn’t had a lot to time to practice in your shoes so you were afraid of messing up and hurting yourself.
Your manager noticed the look on your face, “Hey don’t be nervous. Everyone in that crowd is your fan. You could go out there and just breathe into the mic and everyone would still lose their shit. So go out there and do your thing, I’ll be watching from in here. You’ll do great, stop worrying babe.” He always knew the right thing to say, he was like your best friend and soulmate all at the same time.
You hugged him, “Thank you, I’ll meet you back in here when I’m done.”
The dancers pulled you into a huddle, putting your hands together you all yelled, “1-2-lets get it.” You all broke and made your way towards the stage where a staff last minute checked your IEMs and mic to make sure they were working.
You took a deep breath before making your way to the stage, the lights dimmed before the song started. Looking at your dancer they gave you a subtle nod, and smile giving you the last bit of confidence that you needed.
During your performance all of your nerves melted away. You hit every note and move perfectly, gaining a huge reaction for the audience. The deafening sound of fans and other idols cheering you on only made your confidence rise, and it showed throughout your performance. When you were done almost everyone was standing up, even the idols as they cheered for you.
After you were off of the stage you pulled your IEMs and mic pack off, handing them to your manager so you could go and change once more. Your second outfit was different, more elegant yet subtle. You changed your shoes to a pair of sneakers, relived that you could finally get out of heels.
As your stylist touched up your makeup and hair you remembered that Blackpink was preforming in a bit. You wondered if you’d see Jennie back here, Nayeon did mention that she would probably be here when you got off the stage.
Your questions were answered on the way back out to the audience because you ran into Jennie. The woman was passing you, looking down at her phone as she was walking.
She looked up from the device to bow as she walked by, “Oh! Y/N hey!” she beamed as she tucked her phone in her back pocket. Although she knew she had to be somewhere she didn’t care, she wasn’t going to miss her opportunity
You looked her over and tried to not let your eyes linger on her very toned abs for a second too long. She told you sweetly, “you did amazing earlier, you looked stunning.”
Heat rushed to your cheeks the longer she looked into your eyes, you stuttered out, “t-thanks...you’re going to kill it out there, more than me definitely.”
Just as she was about to respond Jisoo called down the hall for her, waving her over with a clearly impatient manager.
Jennie quickly turned to you and asked, “hey, I know this is the first time we met but can I have your number? Maybe we could go out sometime?” Her hand rested comfortably on your arm, a subtle touch that still made your heart burst inside.
You nodded, “yeah, sure. I’d really like that.” Quickly she whipped out her phone and you put in your number, saving your name with a red heart emoji.
Jennie smiled, “I’ll text you later.”
You told her with a shy smile, “okay, good luck out there.”
Jennie kissed your cheek, “thanks beautiful, i’ll see you out there.” She walked past you and to her members and managers who were waiting for her.
You touched your cheek and smiled before following a staff member that was to take you back to your seat. When you got back Nayeon took one look at you before bursting out laughing. You frowned, “what?”
Your friend replied, “run into Jennie did you?”
You asked, shocked at how she already knew, “wha- how did you know?”
Nayeon swiped her thumb over your cheek a few times before pulling away, showing you the faint lipstick stained on her skin, “She isn’t exactly the most subtle.”
You poked Nayeon’s neck with a smirk, “Well turns out you and Jeongyeon aren’t either, Nay.” Her face flushed red as she pulled the collar of her top up and brushed her hair around her neck, you let out a laugh earning a slap on the arm from her. The two of you went back and forth playfully until the lights dimmed indicating Blackpink coming on to perform.
You watched intently as the girls performed Lovesick Girls, Jennie staring at you as she sang that last part, winking in your direction as she made the heart gesture with her hands. You couldn’t help but smile back at her, trying to hold back how flustered the simple gesture.
At the end of the night you were finally home and able to check your phone and as promised, Jennie did reach out to you. The message read:
Unknown Number: Hey beautiful, I’m sorry I couldn’t see you more tonight. But I can make it up to you by taking you to that new art exhibition downtown. Are you free next Saturday?
You typed back quickly, not caring if it made you look desperate or like you were watching your phone: Don’t apologize, nights like these are hectic and unpredictable. I am free and I’m more than happy to go, thank you <3
You quickly updated her contact to Jennie and broke into a happy dance when she told you what time she’d come pick you up. You’d been dying to check out the art exhibition since you found out it was coming to town but tickets sold out before you could get the chance. So not only were you going on a date with your crush, but also to check out what you’d been dying to see for weeks.
You flopped onto your bed and sighed, relieved that the day was finally over and that you were able to end it on a positive note.
For my training today Goddess wants me to write about 5 women I’ve come across in my time with her who have influenced me and (obviously) write a little about the impact they’ve had one me. Choices can be female presenting, so drag queens are ok, as well as females and can cover anything (shemales, porn star, influencers and so on).
I don’t think many of my choices will be surprising if you’ve followed me for a while but I want to make sure I have a selection and don’t just pick all porn stars 😂...typing this makes me think about all the porn stars who mean a lot to me but I won’t get to mention!
I’ll save my top choice to last but the rest are in no particular order.
First up is Luna Rose. She’s a drag queen and in my early days with Goddess, she gave me a few to look at and study and Luna was the first to really vibe with me.
I learnt a lot about makeup from her but what I really love is her feminine energy and mannerisms. Spending time with her as she goes through a makeup haul or tries on new outfits is a lot of fun. I love that I can see her growth on her channel and it feels achievable. She shows how makeup is fun and colorful and she also loves wearing very large 🍈🍈.
I was watching one of her videos for this (and this might be the silliest thing I write here) and it really stood out how much her hand movements have affected me 🤣.
Next up is a much newer love, Chrissy Cocoabutter. Goddess had me watch her towards the end of last year and I adored her straight away. Her very exaggerated, over the top drag/sissy look and mannerisms (❤ her voice!) and how she is completely upfront and unabashed about what she wants.
Like Luna, you can see her early videos and her growth. Knowing that others have struggled with the same things is important, even if you *know* they must have, seeing it is different.
She’s also “real” in a way that porn stars can’t really be (and OMG, I just realized she wears glasses and I think Goddess pointed me towards her after she made a point of saying I needed to wear my glasses when I do photoshoots 😅), she does it all herself! She’s a glorious, amazing trans sissy slut and I’m so glad she shares so much.
My one “traditional” porn star for the list is the fabulous Kianna Dior. She was the first one I watched who I really felt a connection too. All of the women I’ll write about here share some commonalities but Kianna is probably the one who stands most on her own because I just love watching her work.
She’s older and she has amazing boobs (my first falsies were the same size!) but I think she marks the point when I started to watch women in porn more as idols and people to emulate and less as objects I desired. I mentioned her boobs but what I remember is them oiled up and wrapped around 🍆.
I wanted to include at least one trans porn star and I was thinking Aubrey Kate because I love her glammed up style but I knew of her before my time with Goddess so I picked Daisy Taylor.
I’ve spoken about it a few times but the film Genderella holds a special place in my heart because it was the first time I felt like I saw something like myself reflected in pornography and it made me feel like there’s more there, it’s just that I’ve never been exposed to it.
The first time I watched Daisy, Goddess pointed me to some of her early scenes with her (then) partner and they felt like sex instead of porn. Slow and tender with building passion, intimate in a way that you only tend to get with people who have a connection and watching it expanded my horizons in the same way Genderella did and broadened my definition of possible.
There could only be one Number 1 and it has to be Wifey.
I loved her the first time I watched her but every time I see her, I pick up on more and more. To begin with it was her skills, I loved watching her perform, show herself off, work a guy, work a 🍆...
But as I went back to her again and again, I would focus on her outfits or her nails or her makeup or her mannerisms or other specific things and I feel like she’s just a total package.
When I think about my ideal life, it’s usually hers I’m thinking of and, even though I know that what we see is edited and presented just so, I find her super inspirational. It’s not in the same way as (for example) Luna but in the way that a world class athlete might inspire you to follow in their footsteps, even though you can’t reach the same heights.
I use her as a base for a lot of my outfits (with varying success 😅) and the first time I was hooking up with a guy, I had her videos playing on a loop as I was chatting on Grindr and waiting for them to arrive to keep me in the zone.
