And I am in absolute shambles. No one warned me. The loop back to 4x01, the implication that Castiel falls in love with him all over, that maybe this time loving Dean won't be quite as easy, that they may never kiss and Castiel will spend all this time in love with him, unrequited on the surface and still die for that same man, having never felt Dean's lips touch his ever again in 15x18 .... Oh I'm ruined forever.

I'm reading "So Says The Sword," a Destiel fanfic and this is one of the most meaningful declarations of love I think I've ever read.

“You would do it differently?”

Dean chokes out a half-laugh, the sound wet and uncontrolled, like he is close to tears. “Yeah,” he says. “Fuck. Right, I’m just gonna—leave my brother to be tortured for millions of years. Yeah.” He lets out a slow, shaky breath. “No. I’m always gonna try and keep him safe—whether he wants it or not. He can throw it back in my face, but I’m always gonna try.” He is quiet. “He’s all I got. Or—was.”

Castiel hesitates. “He’s not.” Dean scoffs. “What the hell else is there? My car? My jacket? I got nothing else rooting for me.”

Castiel is silent, and after a long moment, Dean lifts his head to look at him. Their eyes meet in the half-dark, Castiel exasperated, Dean uncertain. After all he has done for Dean—and this is still in doubt.

At last, Dean says, “You.” The word is somewhere between an accusation and a breath of relief.

“For as long as I am,” Castiel says. “With all that I am.”

"For as long as I am. With all that I am." I mean, who says that?! Angels. That's who. That's pure, true love right there and I'm all a flutter.
