how did stardust end up in loopsif's timeline in the first place? i'm assuming this is post twohats canon, did he make a wish later on to see loop again? to be able to help loop in their original timeline? mostly i'm curious if stardust knew what they were getting into lmao

...also if loopsif DOES get out of their time loops eventually... would he go back to his normal timeline, or would he be stuck there forever?

...would loop still be there in stardust's timeline?

1: Yes i think that this was a very intentional decision made by ISAT Siffrin. He'd be very cautious about Wishcraft and its rituals after the events of the game, so Stardust's presence is planned out (somewhat)

I'm thinking that its been many years since the loops and most of the party has settled down in their homes across the world (and its not like they dont make time to see each other). ISAT Siffrin gets melancholy and wonders... if they could have prevented Loop from becoming- well-- Loop.

The idea took root and then well here they are

in stars and time "speak no evil" au braindump

welcome back! we have a fun one this time! welcome to the speak no evil au! in which I got a little too deep into the crane wives album and project it onto loop! as one does.

this is a postcanon au, though, so I can't talk about it without spoilers!

[notes below the cut!]

[woe, spoilers be upon ye!]

in essence, this is a postcanon au that takes place about a year after the loops end. the party is traveling still, now accompanied by nille. without warning, loop reappears- they've regained a more humanoid form, but there are some remnants of their star form. there is one striking and notable difference.

they don't speak.

it's so jarring, for them to be completely silent. not to say they can't communicate- they've retained their expressive body language from the loops, and will write things out if absolutely necessary, but beyond that... they're mute.

nobody knows what to make of it.

they won't tell them how or why they returned. they won't tell them why they won't talk. they simply return, and, in spite of everything, siffrin welcomes them with open arms. they don't question it initially. it's enough that their here.

still, they know more than anybody that trapping everything inside will eventually lead to a disaster.

they can only hope that they'll get through to them somehow.

the story...

like i said, loop returns a year after the loops end, with a humanoid form and now mute. the only thing they say, before shutting up completely, is when they see siffrin. "stardust". that's all they get.

at first, it's not an issue. siffrin is just glad to have loop back in the first place. they essentially cling onto them for the first few days, and don't push their silence. what's even more odd is that loop lets them. the party is confused- despite loop being shy around them on the final day of the loops, they were at least somewhat communicative. they know what happened between loop and siffrin during twohats, though not loop's story. It's easy to say that they're hesitant to give loop their trust. loop makes it evident that they know this. still, they make no effort to explain themself or their story. they just seem to solemnly accept it, and stick by siffrin.

Siffrin grows more and more concerned as time goes on, because it's obvious that loop is hiding something. there is no reason why they'd do such a complete 180 from their normal chattiness. but in spite of their attempts to gently coax it from them, loop doesn't give an inch. scared that they'll leave again, siffrin decides to let it go- for now.

the party slowly grows more comfortable with loop. they each build their own kind of dynamic with them, finding their own ways to communicate with them. siffrin can read loop easily- they're him, after all- and a lot of their interactions involve siffrin acting as a sort of verbal translator for their emotions and siffrin talking with them about the loops. It's nice, they find, to have someone who will just listen. loop knows, of course, but unlike the other members of the party, siffrin doesn't feel nearly as much guilt or self-loathing surrounding their interactions during the loops. so they talk. or, siffirn talks. they talk about the loops, their guilt with the party, the things that were good, their struggles with regaining a sense of self. loop listens, and, sometimes, offers comfort, in their own way. usually, when they begin to spiral, they'll poke his hand, like they did in the loops. it helps. whenever they talk to the party about their issues, loop is there, and serves as an anchor.

bonnie and loop get on suprisingly well from the start. despite being curious as to why loop won't talk, bonnie just decides that since siffrin trusts them, they will as well. they make them food- they can eat now, which is a novelty they seem to enjoy immensely- and loop lets them chatter on all they want. still, they are distinctly uncomfortable when the questions get turned on them- usually, that's when they start to close off and find an excuse to leave.

mirabelle and loop bond over storytime! loop expresses interest in mirabelle's reading, initially in a attempt to ease the tension between them and the party in the beginning, but eventually it turns into a book club. similarly with bonnie, loop likes to listen to mirabelle talk about her favorite novels, and will take the time to read her recommendations. they'll nod along, and when mirabelle asks what they think, they'll do their best to give their opinion.

odile and loop take a bit to get along- odile is suspicious of loop, for obvious reasons. however, they get taken on one of her and siffrin's secret missions, perusing an antique shop for a few hours. loop finds a headache book- a simple cookbook. odile is curious, asking if they can read it- they just nod, with a conflicted look on their face. odile hesitates before taking the book and buying it- or rather, having the book given to her in relief, handing it back to loop. they're confused, but odile asks if they would be willing to translate it for her. loop seems hesitant, but then nods. odile buys them a crafted notebook to write their translations down in. this notebook starts out as just a means of translation, but over time, it gets used for other things, like communicating with the party every now and again, or journaling. they still don't give a lot of information, even though they can put their thoughts to words now, but it makes things easier.

it also reveals that loop feels guilty. very. guilty. with a means of more easily communicating, siffrin pushes again to find out what happened. loop initially refuses to write anything about their thoughts, but after a few weeks, they begin to give small tidbits, only really to siffrin. excuses, though weak ones. small, mildly concerning comments of self depreciation or deflection. apologies, for the few moments they seem to misstep, even if only slightly, even if by accident, in ways that would be easily forgiven or forgotten about.

isabeau has the hardest time getting through to loop, for obvious reasons. hes does his best, but they make efforts to avoid him if they can. when they can't, they give minimal reaction. still, isabeau tries, even if just for siffrin. he jokes, makes puns, offers words of encouragement, but nothing really seems to get through. not until one day. Isa's walking along, and siffrin very casually flirts with him. he's so dumbfounded that he trips into a puddle. siffrin is spouting out apologies, isa is assuring him that it's fine, but... then they hear laughter. quiet, and breathy. barely there. they look over, and sure enough, loop is doubled over, laughing their ass off. it's the most noise they've made in weeks. both Isa and Siffrin can't help but laugh along.

I don't really have. a neat conclusion to this au yet? But I will talk about why Loop doesn't talk, because there is a reason and it eventually does get revealed. Essentially, they just kind of... floated, for a bit. As a part of the Universe, they got to rest for a while. Until they got lonely. Or, lonelier. They couldn't go back to their family, for obvious reasons- they destroyed them, it was their fault. But they are lonely, and if they don't find someone, some reason to stick around... they'd be breaking their promise to Siffrin, something that, despite themselves, they don't want to break. They can't find it in themselves to be mad at Siffrin, not when they showed them genuine kindness, the first major change in their life, the only reason they didn't succumb to their hatred and self-loathing, even when they quite literally had their hands wrapped around their neck, ready to kill them. Now they're just lost, drifitng, and, like the Favor Tree, even though it's restful, they still want, they still yearn for more than they have been given. They need something to change. After everything... Siffrin is the only one they can think to go to. So, they come back.

As soon as Loop returns, they are confronted with the mortifying realization that Siffrin may have told them what happened when they last spoke, and they may hate them. Siffrin wouldn't hate them, they promised they wouldn't hate them, but the thought of the party looking down upon them, like they're a threat, an intruder... it makes them sick. But they're here now. And they won't, they can't, go back to being nothing. At their core they might be harsh, bitter, sarcastic, angry, disgusting, but they can still be better, they can still make it up to them. They just have to not mess this up. So many of their awful moments were the result of their brutal words and scathing remarks- it was all they could really do to feel better about themselves, since they were bound to help Siffrin by the Universe. All those things they said, all the times they insulted them, teased them, made them feel worse instead of helping them like they were supposed to be, all the times they lied through their teeth... they couldn't do that again. Not if they wanted this to work. They wouldn't get another chance. What is that saying? "If you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything at all." "Silence is golden." "Speak no evil."

So... yeah! this was all inspired by bitter medicine.... crane wives my beloved... but if you have any other questions, send it in asks! i'd love to hear your thoughts!

Encore Et Encore: Act 1, Chapter 2: Hour Time Together

Full Game Spoilers for In Stars And Time, Including Twohats! (technically not in this episode but it's in episode one so you should read that first)

It took a while for Siffrin to remember who and where he was, but that was normal for suddenly waking up.

…why did he wake up again?

He had a really weird dream. He was standing there with 2 other figures…

The dream slipped through his mental hands like sand. He closed his eyes again.

♢: "--frin! Siffrin!"

A shadow covered the sunlight that was previously piercing his eyelids.

♢: "… Siffrin…?"

Judging by the voice, that was Mira here to wake him up. Or maybe Isa was doing a really really good impression. He snickered at the thought.

♢: "Siffrin, are you making puns even in your dreams? What am I saying, of course you would be…"

♢: "Anyway, good morning! Or, good afternoon rather… sleep well?"

☆: “mmbl.. grmbl…” was all he could say in response

♢: "… You’re still half asleep, huh..”

With all the strength he could muster, he lightly nodded in response.

♢: "Well, I'll let you rest a little longer, gotta be ready for tomorrow and all! Make sure to come to town soon though!"

He sighed, lightly blowing the hair in his face up, before it fell right back down.

☆: “…” Wake up Siffrin, you have a country to save.

He stood up after a moment and stretched, stretched, stretched, his body was really feeling the whiplash of the sudden wake. After a bit he began wandering to the town of Dormont, where a statue of the Change God stood proud and tall in the center, visible even from this distance.

He watched as two birds sang to each other in the woods, one was light, the other was dark. He envied them a bit, and chuckled. At least they weren't aware of the potential end of the world.

Eventually he met up with Mira.

♢: "Well that didn't take long, haha! How did you sleep by the way? Scale of 1 to 10?”

☆: “Hm… 3, a weird dream, and a certain someone woke me up.” He sticks out his tongue playfully at her.

♢: “Noooo I’m sorry! It’s just we have a lot to do, prepping for the King and-”

☆: “How dare you Mirabelle, punishment for a millenia.” He holds his hand out dramatically, as if cursing her. She puts on a big, obviously fake frown.

♢: “Noooo, not punishment for a millenia!!!”

They both laugh.

♢: “OH!! BY! THE! WAY! I wanted to talk to you about something! Um… I had a nice idea for how we can make the night before the final fight special, how about a nice sleepover? Eat food with friends, tell stories, all that stuff!”

Siffrin took a second to wonder how that was different from what they normally do.

☆: “Uh… How is that different from what we normally do?”

♢: “Oh crab… you’re right.. It was a dumb idea, just forget about it…” She lightly facepalms her face.

Siffrin immediately panicked. He made Mira upset. This is the worst thing probably ever.

☆: “N-no no! It’s a good idea! We should do it! And make the best of all the times we did it ever!”

♢: “You think so?”

☆: “Of course!” He smiled reassuringly.

♢: “Heh, thank you Siffrin.. Oh, if we’re doing it you should probably go tell everyone! I wrote down a crafted note and everything! Isabeau is at the Favor Tree, Madame is at the shops, and Bonnie is at the fields! Tell them to meet at the Clock Tower, okay? You should also check out the Change God Statue for good luck!” She hands him the note.

That’s a lot of things. Siffrin waves as Mira leaves, looking at the note. He decides to head to Odile first, since the shop was just over there.

He opened the door, the shopkeep jolting up slightly, clearly they were dozing off a bit. He walked to the end of the shop and found Odile inspecting various things on the shelf.

♤: “Hmm.. Oh, Siffrin, you look well rested, I take it you slept well?” She looked at the stuff on the shelf as she spoke, before turning to give full attention.

☆: “Well enough at least, Mira woke me up.” He fake-pouted.

♤: “Heh, probably for the best, don’t want you sleeping on the day before the possible end of the world. Anyway, how can I help you?”

☆: “Right, Mira wanted me to tell everyone about a sleepover at the Clock Tower.” Odile lightly scoffs.

♤: “A sleepover? Gems alive, you really are kids.”

☆: “Yea, but it’ll be fun to forget about things for a bit.”

♤: “Yeah, yeah, I’ll be there, poor Boniface likely needs it. Maybe we all do. Nevertheless, the Clock Tower has 3 beds, no? I’ll have you know I plan on having a bed to myself.”

☆: “Yeah, Mira and Bonnie will be sharing, probably”

♤: “So who’s sleeping on the floor, you or Isabeau?”

☆: “We’ll probably share as well”

♤: “…Mhm. Anyway, I’ll be there.”

Siffrin waved goodbye and left, checking Odile off the list, albeit mentally, since he had nothing to write with. Next up was Bonnie, so he headed east, saying hi to the townsfolk as he passed, eventually finding Bonnie staring at vegetables.

☆: “Hey, Bonnie!”

♧: “…heyfrin.”

☆: “We’re going to do a sleepover at the Clock Tower tonight.”

♧: “A sleepover? That’s dumb, I’m not a kid, Frin. Was it your idea?” Siffrin sighed lightly.

☆: “Mira’s idea, actually.”

♧: “Oh, then it's a great idea, sucks you stole it from Belle.” The small one snickered and pointed teasingly at him. He sighed again.

The two leaned on the fence, staring out to the vegetable field. Most of it was frozen. The squash was out of seconds, the mushrooms were out of minutes, and the onions were out of hours. Siffrin would keep this thought rolling if he hadn't noticed Bonnie was nervously glancing at him.

♧: “D-Don’t you got somewhere to be, Stupidfrin?”

☆: “Wow, I can’t enjoy a moment staring at veggies?”

Bonnie took a moment, did they hurt Frin’s feelings?

♧: “S-sorry I just- want some time alone!!”

☆: “No it’s fine, Bonnie. I don’t carrot-all” He smirked down at them, as they frowned in return.

♧: “Get out of here!! Stupidfrin!” Siffrin leaves without another quipping word, checking Bonnie off the mental list as well.

One left. Siffrin headed for the Favor Tree to talk to Isabeau. The tree was very big, paired with the Change God statue in the center and the Clock Tower to the east, it made the town of Dormont very symmetrical, even, nice.

They approached the Favor Tree’s designated area, with Isabeau leaning on a nearby, non-favorable tree.

☆: “Isa!!” They grinned.

♡: “Sif!!!” He held out his arms wide as Sif approached.

☆: “Isaaaaaa!!!!”

♡: “Sif!!!!!!”

☆: “ISAAAAAAAA!!!!” They continued playing it up. Isa chuckled.

♡: “Ok that’s enough, we don’t wanna be here all day, do we?”

☆: “Booooo…” They stuck out their tongue playfully.

♡: “So, how’s it going? Here to wish at the Favor Tree? It’s crazy how big the thing is!”

☆: “Hm… Yeah, It’s a…” They got that look on their face, that both them and Isa knew well.

♡: “Mhm??” Isabeau waited in anticipation.

☆: “..A real TREE-at.” Their smirk was so sharp it could kill a sadness.

♡: “HA! HAHAHA! YES!!” He raises a hand to their shoulder as he laughs, but stops just short and brings it to his side as he wipes his damp eyes.

♡: “Ha… that was good.”

☆: “Anyway, Mira wanted me to tell everyone we’re meeting at the Clock Tower for a sleep over tonight.”

♡: “Sleepover? Crab yeah, now I’m excited. Though, the Clock Tower only has 3 beds if I remember correctly… and M’dame will absolutely demand a bed to herself- more power to her- so I suppose we’re sharing again?” He said that less like an actual question, and more like a confirmation, because he was pretty confident in his conclusion, but wanted to make sure with his bunkmate.

☆: “Yea, that sounds about right.”

♡: “Alright! I’ll be there!” He gives a big thumbs up

♡: “I’ll let you do your Favor Tree thing now! I'll be up north if you wanna talk again! Cya, Sif!” They both waved as he walked away.

Siffrin approached the Favor Tree. It was towering, to the point they were a bit nervous to make a wish. Like asking a teacher to use the bathroom back in school. Or at least that's what Mira and Isa said. He never went to school.

Think… What would be a good wish to ask… Talking with their party was nice… Traveling with them was the happiest you remember being, though your memory always was spotty… but if something was better than this, it probably wasn’t good enough to remember. They shake off the conflicting nature of that sentence and think.

Mira.. Isa.. Odile.. Bonnie… He loved them all so much. He knew his wish. He took a leaf and held it to his mouth, whispering to it.

☆: “I wish to stay with those I care about, when all is said and done.”

He folded it up and sent it to ride the wind. The breeze brushing the tree made a strange sound, like a group sighing. Vaugarde is so weird. Welp, should probably make it over to the Clock Tower.

As he made his way over, he noticed the Change God statue again. Stars, he knew he was forgetting something. He needed to make a prayer for good luck. Though, doing that right after making a wish on the Favor Tree felt… greedy. But he said he would, so do it he shall. He approached the statue’s stature.

Mira and Isa told him that Change prayers were manifested by simply believing strongly, for nothing concrete, the Change God is a lazy deity after all. Seemed a bit off. A god taking a backseat to its domain? Though he supposed the inverse was also a problem. Whatever, he wasn't here to critique the culture. He was here to save the world.

He believed strongly…. For understanding.

And with that, he bowed slightly to the statue and made his way to the Clock Tower as the sky darkened from the curse. If they won or lost tomorrow, at least today still happened.

Sadly I did not do the twohats ending BUT IM PLANNING TO!! I think I need to replay the whole game because I have one save but I dont want to replay the game when its so fresh in my mind because I want to re-experience the dialogue if thats at all possible lol

That being said I am sososo curious and also avoiding spoilers like a minefield (which is difficult when im literally always thinking about and wanting to see them)

Anyways I think you were right about the new game+ being pretty simmilar to the first one you play, which is a relief to me!!

It's still a good idea to have an act 4 save anyway bcs that's the best spot to go event hunting (you can use the isat wiki for walkthroughs. That's what I did :])

And for two hats, here's instructions on how to get it, spoilers for act 5 but nothing for two hats

First. I believe you can do this bit in act 3? But I did it act 4. Anyway you gotta spam look at the silver coin until you get a flashback. Then you gotta spam show the coin to Loop until they tell you something. If you do this step right, you'll get an achievement!

Then you gotta play the game normally. After the Bigfrin fight, before the final talk with the Head Housemaiden, you can go to Dormont! You have to go to the Favour Tree, pick up an item and then go in your inventory to look at that item. I'm pretty sure you pick it up automatically? But you might have to interact with the tree i dont rember. But looking at it in ur inventory in entirely manual and necessary so don't forget !!!

The last step is to have fun :]

More ISAT & Old Mond Thoughts ™

Rhw and Isabeau. They’re both “defenders” in some way or another, the type of people to be in the frontlines. They would be able to balance eachother out- isabeau being outwardly friendly and extroverted yet oblivious to things with a low self-esteem, while rhw would come across as stern and coldhearted yet fairly observant, but he has a soft spot for people he genuinely trusts and cares about. While the king and deca are the type of people to say “i want to protect you” <- ends up making people’s lives far worse/evil with morally grey intentions, isa and rhw are “i want to protect you” <- genuinely wants to help others. Also. isabeau holding rhw’s claymore.

Mirabelle and Gunnhildr both being “blessed” by their respective “gods”, while being resistant to the most immediate danger (time freeze and the blizzards). Sadly I do not know much about gunnhildr or her ideals (hoyo please give us more gunnhildr lore please) however I can figure out a way to tie this into mirabelle’s “What if I don’t want to change and just stay how I am”. Mira giving gunnhildr a bow for her to put onto her ponytail. “Chosen one” type characters <- not the protagonists

Now here’s where things start falling apart a bit for my theories- bonnie and wispti are both A- short B- childish and C- more sidelines/support characters. Wispti sitting in bonnie’s hat. The two of them running around (is it still running if you’re flying?). Them constantly sneaking food into places. Wispti giving snacks to bonnie from places they should not legally be going into.

Which. brings me to my next point. For starters, I have neither gotten the twohats ending nor have i played the prologue (But I do plan to do both!! eventually!!) but I have been repeatedly spoiled. So. Loop and (venti? barbatos?). First of all how are wind wisps in the AU both things that just so happen to exist along with technically being two separate companions. Second. Loop and venti being heavily associated with time. Venti either being made entirely of wind or wearing something resembling his archon statue cloak, his skin being the same dark void featured on his wind wisp form. Then again he would look more humanoid from the neck up than loop does. Ven and loop both being the “guardians” of their respective “protagonists,” along with “being them” in some way, however I don’t actually know much of the context behind the relationship loop and siffrin have with eachother so I can’t say much further.

Odile and Amos bonding over being the oldest member of their party (Amos only being a few years or so older than rhw however. if you take the immortal amos theory into consideration.) They need a coffee and a break. Cannot deal with this. Perceptive over others. Amos constantly complaining about The Divorce to odile. They both have a diamond motif on their clothes. They take care of the other party members (mentor of sorts)

Unfortunately I don’t know what to do with the Head Housemaiden. Only thing I can think of is Istaroth being her counterpart but istaroth is the time god herself while euphrasie is only a representative (I could be wrong about this since the wiki doesn’t say much about her yet)

This took way too long to write. I am so normal

ohhh my goodnesss isabeau and rhw together …. that is SUCH a fun dynamic to think about real holy ??? especially with the way isabeau was The Only defender who actually went out of their way to help when asked (iirc), rhw would respect him so much for that (and this is leaning into hc territory—but if rhw was the same way too, another thing to bond over ….) and i see you raising isa wielding rhw’s claymore and cheering as loud as possible over the idea of him holding a weapon nearly as tall as he is and doing it powerfully and gracefully but i also raise you. rhw using isabeau’s gloves. rhw catalyst—except he punches the lights out of you, all physical, no elemental. also the image of him with those sparkling gems of gloves is so .

ALSO YEAH YEAH THEM AND BEING “CHOSEN….” gunnhildr leading her clan, trying her best for everyone to be happy…. mirabelle not wanting to let anyone down for being a “fraud” …. so you ?? yeah, same here. gunnhildr with a bow would be so so so so cute too. feeling buddies …. 2 !!! the weight of the world won’t feel as heavy if we lift it together !!!!

and oh god the influence wispti will have on bonnie. bard and co have already swayed that wisp plenty and now they get to be the ones doing the swaying. oh god. god you’re so real. wispti voice i will teach you everything you need to know (<- about to make bonnie have the most saddest puppy eyes in existence of this world, the effects of this will be catastrophic.)
