Ghil Dirthalen: 'Interview with John Epler || Dragon Age: The Veilguard {Marketing Spoilers}'
(Before deciding whether to watch this video, please note the spoiler warning in the title and in the video description below. ^^ also the segments of the video I mention below are not to do with DA:TV!)
Video description: "Welcome, welcome! I was honored with being able to go to the Veilguard preview event earlier this month, and I got 20 minutes of John Epler's time to ask him questions on the upcoming game! Epler is currently the Creative Director for Veilguard, but has been with the series for ages now.
Near the tail end of the video, I do ask questions about some details of the game that were released in marketing so far, so please keep that in mind!"
[source]
Segment:
Ghil: "Kind of in the background doing a lot of heavy lifting in the fandom is a Tumblr user called Felassan."
John Epler: "Yes."
Ghil: "And they're actually a very good friend of mine. And I know that they would just be overjoyed if I asked to your face, is there any chance that we can get a Last Court just out, back out into the wild?"
John Epler: "Last Court - the problem, I would say I don't actually have a great answer to that one, largely because that's not, that's not fully ours, that's owned by another company, so."

I finally got around to watching Elemental (2023) and I do think those that were describing it as an immigrant story were accurate. It is also a love story, like the marketing said, but you can't disentangle Ember's experience in the story from her family being diaspora.
But what struck me most about the film is that it's one of the only recent pieces of media I've seen, both in Disney and outside of it, that depicts generational trauma in a way that is fundamentally kind to the previous generation (parents, grandparents, etc).
In most other versions of stories like this I've seen lately, for the (immigrant, usually some variety of Asian, and it is clear that the Lumen family is inspired by multiple Asian cultural influences) parents/grandparents, even if we understand why they behave a certain way, it usually frames that generation as restrictive, oppressive, and perhaps even knowingly upsetting the younger generation. And yes, there are parents that do that. I understand the benefit of telling that story.
However, there are also immigrant families like Ember's. Where you have a family that supports you, that treats you kindly. But even still, you carry the weight of what has happened to them, an indebtedness that you can't ever repay. Bernie, Ember's father, doesn't want to force Ember to do anything. But he carries his hopes for her future, and Ember in turn responds by behaving in the way she thinks would make her parents most happy. So though they have this loving dynamic, the conflict is not in their personality, but in that weight they are both carrying. And that is a story I find relatable as an immigrant, and one that I thought was a standout point in this film.

Hey mags! How are you?
So, this is really self-indulgent, so I apologize if I ramble a little-
Recently I decided to do a hair transition back to my natural wavy hair, and it's been kinda hard taking care of it bc I never learned the right way to do so (I couldn't figure out if it was wavy or curly so at some point I just gave up and straightened it) but now I think it's a little better than it was before, but I've had some people tell me that the haircut I got looks weird, so that really bummed me out bc I don't know how to properly style it yet.
So, could I please ask for some thoughts on aki reacting to reader that changed hairstyle from medium size and straight to short and wavy? This is very specific and kind of silly, but it has affected me way more than I'd like to admit hdhajsha
Love your blog btw! I hope you have a nice day/night! 💕💕
yes, of course!!!
I think aki is pretty peculiar about how he keeps his own hair, so he's bound to notice a change in yours. he asks you a little bluntly, why'd you change your hairstyle? and when you answer, he says, hm. I like it this way. it's pretty.
and he's no expert on hair styling, but if you'd like, he'd be willing to offer some help. it upsets him to think of you not being happy with your appearance, he wants you to feel as beautiful as he thinks, knows that you are. he does some more research on styling and asks if he can try doing your hair for a change, hoping to cheer you up and pamper you a little.

I cried today and everyone was mean to me about it :((
I didn't have a reason to cry but still... bakugo would've cared lmao
baby :((( are you okay? are you doing better??? i'm really sorry people weren't nice to you... i'll never understand how people can just... stand there/be mean while someone is noticeably hurting. it honestly makes my blood boil, so i really hope you were able to get some relief + recover..........
ANYWAY I was just thinking about this the other day (not to clown on your pain tho, sorry)!!! How Bakugo's heart starts to ache at the mere thought of you crying. And how he gets kinda frustrated, huffy even, because he feels so silly for being so weak for you, but also because he just wants to fix things so badly... :((( SO incredibly badly, that no matter what the issue is, how big or small, he wants to pummel it straight into dirt.
Just him grabbing your face and wiping away your tears with his warm thumbs, looking into your eyes all concerned, silently asking, telling you that you're okay, it doesn't matter, they don't matter. And then him hugging you roughly to his chest, too, so you can weep into his shirt as long as you need, even if it's not long at all. He'd even let you blow your nose there, too, if you needed, would wear the moist stains with pride.
I can even see it making him a little needy, also. Him frowning while he coos at you to show him your pretty face, tell him what's wrong and who did this, all so he can fix it and make everything go away. maybe get you a present too, after. cuddle.
but it's only cuz when you cry, it makes bakugo want to cry, too :(((
