I finished and submitted all my assignments from my rural thing. The last assignment was kind of hard; it was a reflection on the experience as a whole, the community, and also how we personally feel starting school after this. It’s not hard in the sense of actual cognitive difficulty with the material to cover and analyze, but rather, I wasn’t sure how to positively explain how I feel. WE all know here that I felt like shit most of the time, spent lunches crying in my car trying to nap and feeling alienated, spent evenings crying in the room overwhelmed and overstimulated and way too mf HOT, multiple times questioned if I made the right choice at all to enroll in this particular program. I don’t and never had doubted my love for medicine as a whole and my abilities to learn how to be a good doctor. But like, program specific fit? I doubted that.
So anyway since I didn’t have much room I tried to briefly state the concerns I have in a way that (hopefully) conveys my ownership of my role in this and what I learned I need to do / how I need to grow going forward. And then also focus on how I really did love the medicine side, and how (even though I question my “fit” with the culture at this one site) the experience has affirmed that rural care feels RIGHT for me. (Like I may be autistic and struggle assimilating into a mid-sized practice full of neurotypical extroverts, but the patient care aspect? The scope? The relationships you build? I know a lot of people view autism as “self focused” people who don’t care about those relationships, but that’s not MY autistic experience; my empathy and desire to care for the whole person, not just see them as a body, is one of my greatest strengths).
ANYWAY when I was finalizing and submitting that assignment, apparently my third assignment (the previous one, a patient interview + reflection) was graded. I didn’t know that my specific state’s track’s director (who I have a lot of contact with) would be the one to read and grade it. She had very positive feedback. But. Now I’m super super anxious about my last assignment. When I thought it was read and graded by somebody I’d never really interact with in person, it was easier to mention that I’m neurodivergent and yes, that lead to some problems that I need to address within myself. But now I feel… more open and raw. I didn’t tell my preceptors, I didn’t plan on telling anything who like, had any major dealings with me. Buuuut now it’s out there and fuck. 🙃

Aight, cause I can’t seem to sleep, some more analysis for MLQC stuff with episode 2 and aligning with the main game. Obvious spoilers for the first two episodes at this point. There are some spoilers for Chapter 15 in the game, which I will put in bold. There’s also some thoughts on the series as a whole that I’ve mentioned in other posts.
Generally speaking, we’re on a track of them animating about 1 chapter per episode.
The story of the anime is going slightly...different. I double checked about the kid in the anime and, in the game, it turns out to be the guy who tries to kill her in the alley who has the warping power. The anime shuffles events slightly, like in game, the episode of Miracle Finder airs before the warping guys teleports MC, and we haven’t had some scenes with MC and Victor that were in Chapter 2.
Honestly, it’s still good pacing. I’m predicting that they’re going to get to the end of Chapter 19 by the end of the series, and I think it’s 12 episodes. At the very least, they’ll probably hit Chapter 14. They’re trimming some stuff. For example, the next episode is probably Chapters 3 and 4 combined. Chapter 3 is filming Kiro in a bear costume, and 4 is Souvenir. The two arcs are relatively short, and can be shoved into one episode. That is, if they haven’t cut 3 completely. It’s been a hot minute since I’ve gone through the chapter, in all honesty.
Here’s where I’m getting into some spoilers for later parts of the game, so if you wanna look away, now’s the time. I suggest having played through Chapter 19 before reading past this point.
The biggest thing that throws me off is that we see Josie, her brother I assume, and Hades in the OP. Josie is only in Chapter 12, but is mentioned briefly in 7, and maybe the end bit of 11? Her brother isn’t even significant enough to have a character design in the game, but does appear in chapter 7. I might not even have the right set of siblings from chapter 7, since i haven’t gone through the game’s story in a while, but it would make sense for the anime to combine the roles if they are all different characters.
Hades being there, though, is the main reason why I think we’re hitting Chapter 19 because he doesn’t even show up until Chapter 17 or 18, I think.
Also in the OP is the Black Swan Queen, who doesn’t appear in the series until Chapter 15, 16ish. Also, promo art of Gavin in his military uniform, which is very much not until the end of 18, and not even prominent until we get Cyril (which it’s impossible to get him in this season. it just wouldn’t work).
Also, correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe you can see Ares standing next to Hades in the OP.
Tumblr media
I half expected them to show Ares in the post credit scene with Hades, because it would have worked, still, imo.
Also, with the boy in the episode. It felt to me that they emphasized a lot about how he wasn’t going home to his family, he was going into protective custody for the time being. We know that in Chapter 15, Gavin defects from the force, because he’s pissed about people he brings in being killed without trial, because supposed criminals still have rights. Are they going to kill the boy? Will they end up replacing the arc with Perry and his father for this kid?
Also, okay, can we talk about how poetic it would be to end the series at Chapter 19? Begin the series with baby Victor saving MC, only to have him kill her in the end? Ough, it’d be beautiful.
Though, in a worst case scenario, I also see the plot completely diverging.
It’s also possible for the anime to simply stop at Chapter 10. The only thing is, iirc, Josie only joined Black Swan after her brother dies in Chapter 12, but she’s seen with the Black Swan tattoo in one of the trailers.
I don’t know, like it looks like it should be chapter 19, but, I tried tracing out how it would align with episodes, and it doesn’t make a lot of sense.
The way I see it is
Episode 3 is going to be a combination of chapters 3 and 4, with more focus of 4
Episode 4 would be Chapter 5, and maybe 6? There’s a risk of rushing things, or dropping key ideas (i.e, the focus is on kids with autism for the show, but they could drop it to just be orphans? I don’t know) or they drop MC stalking Lucien, which would be so sad because then we don’t get Gavin waking her up while she’s at work.
Episode 5 will either be Chapter 6 if it isnt combined with Chapter 5 or it’ll be Chapter 7. They won’t combine 6 and 7, because of the cliffhanger at the end of 6.
The problem is that now, Chapters 7 onward are harder to combine, seeing as there is a lot of plot happening between 7-19. So, now, there’s 12 plot driven chapters thrown into either 6 or 7 episodes. If they start doing 2 chapters at a time, maybe? But it feels like it would rush some really important things, namely the reveal of Ares, MC falling of the building and Gavin catching her, Kiro at the station, the arrival of Helios, Victor stabbing MC...
Like, maybe you could cram 7-10, but the problem is that 8 and 10 would have to be standalone episodes, which kinda screws over Lucien and Gavin.
I don’t know, what do other people think?
