QUICK REMINDER
In the US: threatening government officials is a felony under federal law (18 U.S.C. § 871). Even memes.
be careful with your jokes if they spill over to active officials.

series master list
"Shit! Shit, shit, shit, shit, shit!"
It was safe to say that Y/n L/n was not having a good morning.
George had been watching her over the top of his paper while she paced the living room on the phone, his eyebrows changing between furrowing and raising as he tried to figure out what was happening with only one half of the conversation.
"Are you... alright?" He wasn't the best at this sort of thing, but when it came to his friends he tried to put some sort of effort in to show that he cared about them. Y/n huffed, pinching the bridge of her nose and looking like she was about to break into tears. If that happened George would have to go and get Lucy, because he definitely had no idea how to deal with Y/n when she cried. Normally he went and made her tea and plated up some biscuits, and she always accepted with a grateful smile and a lot of sniffles and let him leave again when he stood awkwardly near her, shuffling his feet on the spot.
He got the feeling that wouldn't be happening now, and he'd be held hostage instead.
"It's my mum. You know I've got this family Christmas thing coming up, right?" She paused while George nodded, taking her hand away from her face to see his reaction, then continuing on as she gestured wildly. "She seems to think I have a boyfriend, which I absolutely do not-"
"What, really?" George exclaimed sarcastically, pressing his hands over his heart in mock surprise. Y/n glared at him, looking incredibly non-threatening in her very jolly Christmas jumper. He resisted the urge to snort, knowing full-well that his friend spent most of the time complaining whenever relationships were the topic of conversation, since she couldn't understand why she was still single.
"As I was saying," another glare was aimed his way, "Mum thinks I have a boyfriend, and my aunt overheard her on the phone just now talking about my non-existent boyfriend, and it was Aunt Linda-"
"The one who gossips to everybody?"
"Yes!" Y/n jabbed a finger in George's direction, expression wild and fierce. "The one who gossips to everybody! So by now I think my entire fucking extended family and every single family friend knows that I have a boyfriend, who does not exist, and thinks that he's coming to our family Christmas in the middle of fucking nowhere!"
"I thought it was your childhood town?"
"Which is in the middle of nowhere! Genuinely nothing but fields and forests and the general countryside for miles and miles. Oh, and to top that all off, my cousin will be there-"
"The bitchy one who makes you feel like shit who you also thought wasn't coming this year?"
"Yes. Her. And Linda is her mum so Steph'll definitely know." Y/n finished, throwing herself into the sofa with a groan, turning over slightly, and screaming into a pillow.
George was about to stand up and head to the kitchen to put the kettle on (Y/n normally screamed not long before crying full-out) when Lockwood poked his head through the door, frowning at the sight before him.
"Everything alright?"
"Y/n's having a crisis. Fancy a cuppa, Lockwood?" George properly got up now, glad that another member of the household was here to deal with the situation. Lockwood nodded, then frowned again when he realised that George was escaping and shutting the two of them in a room together. Lockwood absolutely could have left anytime he wanted, but it was likely that Y/n thought he'd volunteered for the role of caretaker and couldn't leave without looking like an arse, or starting yet another argument between the two of them.
George breathed a sigh of relief, then made for the kitchen. He'd need a cup of tea in a minute when Y/n realised who was there to comfort her.
~~~
"The fuck do you want, Lockwood?"
"I- uh... what's... what's the problem?" His voice sounded pained, like he really didn't want to be in the room, and Y/n rolled her eyes.
"If you don't care, then leave," she said, attempting to hide the wobble in her voice at the thought of having to find someone to drag to her family gathering for three days, where she would be interrogated and prodded and poked and watched every second of every minute of every day, and criticised for every tiny thing she did. She was dreading it, really, but at least the third day would just be her immediate family and her non-existent boyfriend. The first two days would be filled with inquisitive relations that hadn't seen her since last year, wondering about her job and why she hadn't pursued something more stable, or asking about her love life (that was completely uneventful) and why she wasn't thinking about settling down.
Lockwood's frustrated sigh brought her out of her thoughts, and she pulled her face out of the pillow enough to see him clenching his jaw as he studied the wall with a lot more interest than it deserved. "Fine. Vent if you need to. Can I help at all, or are you going to get on my nerves until you leave?"
"Do you always have to be such a dick, Lockwood? Or are you like that because you're compensating?"
"Fuck off."
"Lovely comeback," she snapped, turning to lie on her back, staring up at the ceiling instead of at her boss' face. If she looked at him any longer she might bore holes through his head with the intensity of her glare. Neither of them said anything for a minute, the only sounds the clock ticking away in the corner, counting down to her imminent doom, and George in the kitchen making tea. "My family thing, this weekend. Everyone thinks I'm bringing my boyfriend."
"You don't have a boyfriend though."
"I know that, Lockwood. But my family think that I do have one, and now I have less than forty-eight hours to find one." She heard him snort, and squeezed her eyes shut in the hopes that it would block out his next words.
"Good luck with that. Maybe Kipps'll volunteer? He needs the free food."
"Can't you have just the tiniest bit of sympathy for me?" She pushed up, moving to sit and direct her frustration at Lockwood. "I am in a near-impossible situation here and you're being insufferable right now!"
"Maybe you should take Lockwood," George said, and Y/n jumped at the sound of his voice in the living room.
"Where the fuck did you come from?" she asked, already eyeing up the plate of biscuits on the tea tray. "Wait," Y/n paused as she properly registered George's words. "Take him?" Lockwood looked just as horrified by the idea of it, shaking his head frantically.
"Yeah. Oh, here's your tea, Y/n/n."
"What about you, George?! Surely you could come along and help me out instead?!"
"I thought I told you already, I'm going to my own family's house for Christmas. Lucy's going to stay with Norrie, and Holly's spending the holidays with her girlfriend. Lockwood's alone, in this big old house, and you've got limited time and also limited options." Y/n was annoyed at how right George was, but she wasn't giving in so easily. Not when giving in meant spending three days with the one person she despised more than anything in the world.
"Fine, if you have no other options by the time you need to leave, I'll go with you. But I will not enjoy a second of it if I do," Lockwood finally ground out, and Y/n had to fight back a look of surprise at his words.
"You- what?"
"It saves being in this house alone over Christmas. I've done that one too many times now, and at least your family will be a distraction. And," he added, "a great way to see all your baby photos." His smile was wolfish, and Y/n wondered how anybody ever found it charming.
"Alright. But I'm finding someone else, so it looks like you'll have to miss out on this one I'm afraid." Her smile was simpering, sugar sweet and sickly with how faked it was.
George looked between the two of them, then sank back into his armchair with his tea. "That's that sorted then."
~~~
It was absolutely not sorted.
Y/n was panicking. A lot. Apparently nobody fancied spending Christmas with some random agent for three days in the literal middle of fucking nowhere with her entire extended family, which was incredibly inconvenient for Y/n.
She now was supposed to be leaving in roughly two hours, and was frantically shoving the last few things in her suitcase while phoning anybody that she could attempt to pass off as her fake boyfriend.
Anybody that meant she didn't have to take Lockwood.
Perhaps if he wasn't such an asshole all the time, she'd be less reluctant, but since the first day they'd met he'd been rude to her.
It had been after a job, three years ago back when she was a solo agent taking any work that meant she could keep a roof over her head and food in her belly. Her night had been long, making her tired and weary with how much her bones ached, and she was hardly looking where she was going when she turned the corner onto her street, making her bump into a tall figure. Her first thought when the two of them stumbled away from each other was how gorgeous this boy was, and her second was how utterly awful his personality was. She had apologised before she could see his face, already muttering excuses and explaining her lack of coordination, but within seconds he was opening his mouth and talking, telling her that she should have been more alert and "could she not stand on his shoes, they're new" and she'd taken a proper look at him and decided that yes, he was pretty, but he was also not particularly nice.
Then a few months later she'd seen an ad in the paper for a small agency that had needed a new agent, preferably with strong Touch, and had chosen to go along for an interview. What she hadn't expected was the boy from that night to be the one interviewing her, and evidently he was just as shocked to see her, his expression quickly settling into a frown.
"No thank you. We don't want careless agents like you, thank you very much." His words had stung more than she cared to admit, making the backs of her eyes prick and her throat close up with emotion. She'd almost turned tail and walked out the door (something she very rarely did), but a girl dressed mostly in blue and with an excited smile on her face came in to the room, asking if this was their new recruit. Apparently the boy couldn't say no to her, or the other girl that appeared a few moments later with her clothes all neat and ironed, or indeed the other boy with glasses and curly hair who had ketchup stains on his t-shirt. Within minutes of the three of them arriving in the room, Y/n had a job at the company as an agent with a strong sense of Touch, and was being given a biscuit and a cup of tea.
She had quickly learned that the first girl was Lucy, the second was Holly, and the curly-haired boy was George, and then Lockwood had introduced himself as the head of the company.
"Don't you have... supervisors?" she had asked, confused as to just how this company worked exactly.
"No." His smile had been tight, and he had left the room right after, pushing past his colleagues and heading up the stairs. Lucy had been quick to fill in the rest, explaining all the answers to every question that Y/n had, with Holly and George chipping in when she forgot something.
Lockwood had continued his behaviour from that day ever since, despite Y/n's best efforts to get him to like her, and eventually after a few months of attempted friendship offers, she gave up and leaned into the whole hating each other schtick that was apparently happening.
So no, she did not want to have to bring Lockwood to her family gathering for three days and pretend to love him. She didn't want to do that at all.
Unfortunately, it was starting to look as though she wouldn't have a choice.
~~~
"Well? Please? Come on, I never beg for anything from you."
"I know, and I'm actually rather enjoying it."
"Prick," Y/n muttered, frowning at Lockwood. "You said that you'd do it if you had to. Well, you have to. So pack your bags and let's go; the train's in an hour."
"Fine. But I am not happy about this." He made his way back inside his bedroom, leaving Y/n stood outside the door (she refused to cross the threshold of this one particular room).
"Oh, because I am personally so ecstatic about this situation!" Her voice was thick with sarcasm, and Lockwood paused in his packing to glare at her.
"It's not my fault you couldn't find somebody to pretend to date you for three days."
"No, but I'll blame you anyway."
"Charming."
"Hmm. Hurry up."
"We've got ages, stop fretting like a mother."
"The train leaves in an hour, and it takes ten minutes to get there. Then you have to factor in maybe five to ten minutes of traffic, and difficulties getting through the gates at the station which is what, another five minutes? And then if there are any problems with the actual trains then we want to be early just in case so that a plan can be made to get a different one, and also if there aren't any problems then we at least want to be there early so that we can get on first and get a table. So no, we haven't got ages, we've got minutes before we need to go. Hurry up."
Lockwood had been staring at her in disbelief while she talked, his jaw slack and his eyes wide, but when Y/n glared at him again he went back to packing. "You really think that much about travelling?"
"There is so much that can go wrong with trains, so yes."
"Fine," Lockwood huffed, coming out of his room to cross into the bathroom, grabbing his wash bag out of the cupboard and shoving a toothbrush and flannel in. "Where's the toothpaste?"
"I've got some, so we can share. Trust me, you don't want to share with George. He's like a dragon with the way he hoards his toothpaste."
Lockwood gave her a weird look as he zipped up the bag, heading back into his room to finish stuffing items into the large bag he was taking with him as luggage. Y/n was sure he'd repurposed a kit bag for this, but if it meant she wasn't having to explain to everyone why she had failed at bringing a boyfriend that didn't even exist then she supposed she could forget about where the kit was currently being stored.
"Ok, I think that's everything," he said, running a hand through his hair as he stood up, yanking the bag up and over his shoulder. He was still in a suit, which Y/n thought was ridiculous since they didn't even have any meetings today other than the one with her family, and when they made it to the bottom of the stairs he grabbed his jacket and signature long coat. Y/n was already in her own winter coat, thick scarf wrapped around her neck and gloves poking out her pocket, her boots echoing throughout the building. They were the only two left now, since the other three had already left for their own Christmas celebrations, so Lockwood had to spend an extra minute finding the keys to lock up, and then another minute trying to put them back in his pocket. In the end, Y/n was so frustrated with how long he was taking that she snatched the keys from his hand and shoved them in the chest pocket on the inside of his coat, turning and dragging her small suitcase behind her into the pre-booked taxi.
"Sorry, he takes a while to do things every now and then. He's immensely stupid," she said, smiling at the driver as the man put her suitcase in the boot of his taxi. He looked concerned, frowning up at Lockwood where he was coming down the stairs, then nodded slightly, his expression morphing into confusion.
The drive itself was fast, and there were no problems at the station, but Y/n still couldn't help but feel that something would go wrong on their journey to her parents' house.
"The only thing that's wrong-"
"Don't say that, you bastard!"
"-is me being here."
"Oh. Well, that's true."
"Why couldn't you have just gone on your own?"
"You'll see when you meet everyone. Are you... will you be alright? I mean, it's literally everybody still alive in my family along with all of our close friends, which is near on fifty people, all in my parents' house."
"What are you trying to say?" Lockwood's expression was stony, and a coldness had come into his eyes that Y/n had only ever seen back when she was trying to be his friend and asked about his family. She had since learned that they had died when he was young, and had steered well clear of the subject afterwards.
"I just... it's a lot for me, and I do this every year. I can't imagine how awful this'll be for someone who's..." she trailed off, trying to find the right words.
"Who's family is dead?" Lockwood asked, more forcefully than he needed to.
"No, I didn't mean-" Y/n said.
"Sure," he cut her off, tone sharp and as bitter as the wind that was whipping around them. She tried to speak again, but he scoffed and turned away before she could explain what she had really meant by her words. Lockwood didn't seem to be relenting anytime soon, instead choosing to stare out at the tracks with a clenched jaw. The conversation died, and they didn't say a word until the train pulled up to the platform and they were attempting to find a good seat.
When they were finally sat down, bags secure and able to relax a little, Y/n sighed softly at Lockwood's still tense figure. He wasn't looking at her, which she supposed was a good thing because generally when he looked at her he was coming up with something rude to say. But if they wanted this to work, they needed to be talking.
And apparently, Y/n had pissed off her fake boyfriend.
Ugh, she thought. This is going to be a fucking shitshow.
Eggman will truly do whatever it takes to get what he wants. He doesn't care what method it takes and that's not just the death and mass destruction he'll cause. That also includes the ways he'll willingly and happily take control of minds
One of the common ways is with manipulation and deceit as he's very intelligent and knows how to mess with people's heads and emotions. But literal mind and thought control are options he's open to and has tried to take too
In Colors, he makes the mind control cannon, tries to test it on Sonic but it hits Tails and he has a blast with it, and plans on using it to mind control the entire planet so that he'll literally be the only thing on their minds. He's very pleased and excited by this idea
youtube
Then you have the Forces promo video of Eggman Empire propaganda where he advertises the Robotomy Treatment, listing never having to think again as one of the perks. You'll lose all thought and become mindless, literally lobotomized and controlled
youtube
I feel this counts as game canon as it was made to promote Forces. But then of course the previous example is within a solid finalized canon game, so it is indeed something he is indeed interested in attempting in game canon either way
It doesn't matter whether you consciously surrender and submit due to his threats/manipulation/deceit etc or if he literally mentally or physically forces you by taking over your body and mind. He'll be happy if he gets what he wants
This is why Sunshine Balls brainwashing people, Metal Virus that turned everyone into mindless zombies, or the Lego skits of Eggman mind controlling a guy in non canon media suits his character, it's something he's attempted in games too
youtube
Yeah I can also see him thinking it's not so appealing if he uses that method on literally everyone because he actually likes threatening, forcing, and controlling them while conscious and aware of his power and brilliance
So I could see him having this approach at times as he does express sadistic enjoyment in his threats and force and getting to demand people to praise and obey him for the assertion of his dominance and the power trip
If they were all completely mindless in it, he wouldn't be able to dominate them further and repeatedly enjoy the power of putting them in their place and also the entertainment of them being conscious to suffer under his rule
But at the same time, he'd love for everyone to be extremely obedient and submissive, totally under his control, and always giving him what he wants above everything, not constant nuisances he has to keep beating into submission
But it's not something he's above morally or won't do for any other reasons. The games show he will and enjoys it. It also shows he doesn't care whether expressed love and admiration for him comes from a completely genuine place
Love him or hate him, if he's the center of attention and praised- "genuinely" (through manipulation and brainwashing most of the time lol), by force, or total literal direct mind control, he gets what he wants and he's happy
TailsTube didn't exactly say it was about always wanting to be 100% genuinely loved by everyone by their own beliefs and choice, just being the center of attention and in control. (The whole point of TailsTube is to inform about game canon)
Also I think he could have all the love in the world and find it'll never be enough for him, I wouldn't be surprised. And the reason would be that he's so greedy and attention whoring, he still feels he deserves more after he has the world
I can't see it being in a sad desperation. More like, with his ego and self love, he just wants everyone to praise him and see highly of him just like he already does himself and that's why he's so bold, confident, and forceful in demanding it-
Aside from genuinely loving the evil angle too! He's seen to purposefully take the evil approach, not out of implied force or last resort but just finding evil super fun with his sadistic enjoyment and gleefully labelling himself evil
He could do things the good way, he's a genius with a 300 IQ and he's great at trickery so he could at least fake it. But he doesn't always try to fool by acting like the good guy, he'll embrace and call himself evil and make serious threats too
He enjoys all the different evil and deceitful methods he can take and has the most fun with them! I love that so much because they're usually what results in all of his most thrilling and badass moments in the series đđĽ°
I find the mental mind control approach just as interesting as his deceitful/manipulative/brainwashing and threatening physically forceful approaches, I'm always down to see more. It's game canon and I love it!
#I see people saying it's ooc when it's in other media and I'm like ???? he literally does it in game canon too#and it's hot lol#you can take control of me any day master ;)#dr. eggman#dr eggman#dr robotnik#eggman#my post#mind control#analysis
Imagine being unable to sleep, upset by Echo's departure, and turning to Tech for comfort
The ship was stuffy. Your mind was full. The future was uncertain. It was the perfect mixture of reasons to be restless.
You'd removed the top half of your blacks and tied it around your waist, putting on a tank top in hopes of cooling down. Sitting on the lowered ramp of The Marauder, you stared into the misty night sky, feeling trapped by the stale silence. Your eyes began to sting, emotions starting to overcome you. How could so much have changed so quickly?
The sound of footsteps pulled you from your troubled thoughts, and you didn't have to turn around to know who approached. The rapid tapping of gloved fingers on a datapad was enough for you to recognize him.
"You are unable to sleep," Tech says.
It wasn't a question. He'd just stated it as a fact, as he did with most things.
"Not really," you answer, quickly wiping at your eyes.
"I suspect there is a reason," he begins, sitting down beside you, "Would it ease your mind if you shared your concerns with me?"
Your heart skipped at the prospect, and at how near he was.
"I'll be alright, really," you hesitate, trying to compose yourself.
"The tension in your voice and your constrained body language suggests otherwise," he replies, putting away his datapad.
You can't help but chuckle, "Nothing gets past you, does it?"
"Not really," he parrots your words. He removes his helmet and puts it aside. You're surprised to see he's smiling ever-so-slightly.
You sigh, trying put your many thoughts into words. "We've all lost so much. After all our fighting and all our running, sometimes I've wondered what it was all for. But I thought as long as we stayed together, things would be alright. We would figure it out because together we had hope. Now, I'm afraid that we've lost it."
Tech pushes up his goggles before responding.
"I know it may seem that way, but Echo did not leave because he had no hope," he offers, "He believes that there are better ways apart from this squad that he can help preserve hope, and if he is successful, pass it on to others."
"I thought we were already doing that," you reply, shaking your head, "I know we have to be careful, especially for Omega's sake, and we can't fight The Empire the same way others can, but I thought we were making some kind of difference."
"Echo's departure does not necessarily signify failure in our pursuits."
"But aren't we stronger together than apart?" you ask, looking to him.
Tech blinks slowly, visibly weighing your question. Surely he is bothered by all this too?
"Theoretically, yes. But our objections cannot change what has happened," he admits.
Your gaze falls back to your boots, shame setting in. How selfish you must sound. "You're right. I don't think less of Echo. Truly I don't," you say, holding your arms, "I just don't want to lose this squad, and I really don't want to lose..."
You were desperate to say it, but the word caught in your throat. Tears threaten to return. This is not how it was supposed to go. Squeezing your eyes shut, you bow your head, hoping he wouldn't see your entire façade crumbling.
You nearly jump as you feel his hand gently clasp your shoulder. You look up to see his soft brown eyes, full of warmth and understanding.
"I do not have plans to go any place where you cannot also be," he affirms, "And I intend to never make such plans."
A tear slips down your cheek as you choke back a sob. Whatever was left of your composure, he'd just destroyed it, and somehow it was the push you needed.
You lean over to rest your head on his chest. You hold your breath as you feel him tense up at the contact. Fear washes over you that you've gone too far, and you're about to sit up, but then he carefully wraps his arm around you, holding you close.
You purse your lips, trying not to grin. How long you had waited for this moment. Heart racing, you close your eyes and wish for time to stop. So many words had passed between you over the months, but now you could barely speak.
"Tech?" you breathe.
"Yes?"
"I never want to make those kinds of plans either," you say, relaxing into him more.
"It's settled then," he confirms, proceeding to rest his chin upon the top of your head.
It was settled. You knew with absolute certainty that this is where you wanted to be. You were stronger together, and no matter what became of the galaxy, together you and Tech would stay.
Personal PO ranking list?
Here's mine, based on how much I like them !! Explanations under the cut. If u guys want me to rank how hot they are too, dont hesitate sending me an ask >:P
ANYWAY ONWARD: (warning, this is a long one, you've *super macho man voice* RELEASED THE AUTISM BEAST, ANON!)
King Hippo
in case if you aren't aware of how obsessed i am with king hippo i have: 1. made a sona to selfship with him 2. drafted a slowburn between said sona and hippo, its still a work in progress. 3. made concepts of hippo island, including its island shape, culture, nature, species and more 4. made concepts of a petroglyphic hippoan language 5. made hippo parents. No he's not adopted in my hc :P 6. Gave hippo an entire past that im still writing out.
Hippo is endlessly fascinating to me because of how many possibilties there are for character expansion. We get little about him, and yet there's still enough to supply the appetite (or i might just be autistic.) He underestimates Little Mac initially, and when he does, he doesn't even seem mad he lost, just to name an example.
OUTSIDE OF ALL THAT THOUGH... i just have a weakness for characters that get characterized not through dialoque but through other means. Ofc hippo is not the ultimate example of this (his entire lore is just. Guy who eats a lot and puts a manhole cover on his stomach), but still !! It's not often you get nonverbal characters in media. Aside from that, he just has the most outstanding design in the entire game. Scary to most, but my cute little hip hip to meee :3
Von Kaiser
SIGMUND THE FRAULEIN PULLER MY BELOVEDDDD... He's traumatized, he's got a hot voice, he's got the cutest lil moles, he's great with children, He's a MAMIE'S BOY... ok that last one is more of a hc, but let's be real, why else are we all here ?? :P Either way, he just has so much history to him, or at least as much as a punch out character can have. Similarly to Hippo, there's so many directions his character can be pulled. Why is the man the way he is ?? I need to study him under a microscope STAT.
did i mention hes really cute because he rocks back and forth on his heels n tip toes, this man is literally so autism AuHGAHJD moving on.
Aran Ryan
goddd i love his brogue n his maniacial laughing n grunting (man every punch out fan is so down bad arent they /lh) ANYWAY... what else i love about this man is similar to kaiser; i just wanna study him under a microscope. disect his brain even. why is this man so insane. does he even have a nice side ?? i think he does, but it's covered up by excessive feral behavior. and beneath THAT nice layer is just more beastly untamed MAN. I like him bc i want to see him get worse. He's so ugly and unhinged in a cute way. (not surprising coming from the resident hippo liker- ANYWAY x2)
Super Macho Man
Yes i know castle aka my sona is portrayed as hating macho, but this couldnt be further from the truth. i LOVE THIS MAN. i LOVE TO HATE HIM. He's literally such a gd cocky bastard who's constantly spouting the funniest gd lines in the game. I'll never be macho bc I can't afford lines that good.
Also the intepretations that he's lying about his age which is why his hair is silver are so funny to me. All in all, hilarious character, definitely THE funniest one. 1000% deserves the top meme status.
Bear Hugger
OH MAN THIS SWEETHEART AUGHHH... where do i even beginn... i cant be the only one who like. wonders if this man has some rage that he keeps hidden? Like looking at how nice and jolly he is, in contrast to his TD cutscene where he is angry with mac... plus, when mac accidentally punches his squirrel away, n hugger cries afterward ?? who's to say he wouldn't be Pissed after a while.. either way, hes similarly also rly funny. imagine threatening a teenage boy in the goofiest way (NORTHERN LIGHTS, EH??), laughing and then immediately napping. Peak character interaction ghgh.
In short, he's just really sweet, funny, i love that hes an animal lover, i love his bushy beard, they knew what they were doing calling him bear hugger bc YES i wanna hug him plz n thank u
Disco Kid
ANOTHER SWEETHEART HAS HIT THE RING. i just LOVE this guy's energy. He's another boxer, like king hippo, who's not mad at all at mac when he loses to him. Additionally, his friendly teasing is just so gd adorable, how can you not love this guy tbh...
Lastly, I love music based boxers so much. I think what could've elevated disco to an even higher level, is if he had like a move that u had to avoid on the beat of the music or something. Other than that, he's GREAT i wanna give him a platonic smoochie. He just seems like the type of guy who'd make friends with everyone and wants to try everything, even if he sucks at it, like Pippi Longstocking
Glass Joe
Many have said it more eloquently than I can, so I'll keep it brief (HA); he never gives up despite his horrendous win/lose ratio. He's a goofy, charming guy w/ an attractive voice (fr, you wouldn't expect a guy like him to have THAT deep a voice, at least I wouldn't.)
While yes, he is hilariously patriotic, he also breaks some stereotypes of his people, which i find a rly funny aspect of his character (i.e he's shown to be a nice guy while the french r stereotyped as rude, he doesn't surrender etc). Finally, I love his stupid emo hair. That is all, thank you thank you. ily joey.
Don Flamenco
DONNIE BOY !!!!! Ik i sound like a broken record but. attractive voice, funny cartoony shenanigans, i LOVE his KO animation so much. Also, a layer to his personality that I simply adore, is how, despite how cocky he is, he still compliments mac when he avoids his punches (saying "bien viesta" or "bien hecho"). He's got his sense of fair play !
Also, i think we can all agree that his transformation from an overly confident spanish flag colored guy to a sourpuss all black emo is peak comedy. I know the Wii game is nothing but bangers in the comedy department but this has got to be up there with macho jiggling his ass in the camera.
Bald Bull
He's so sillyyy, everyone always forgets this. he does a fucken chicken dance when he wins in contender mode. Aside from that, he's just a very intruiging character. He's obviously stressed n angered from the paparazzi hounding him 24/7, but outside of them, he isn't a very angry person at all. He even isn't mad that he lost to mac either, instead training harder to combat his weakness.
Plus ! I feel like the creators of the Wii game very cleverly made the decision to make him hounded by paparazzi, bc that also ties in perfectly with his secret Mask X persona. In short, Bull is awesome.
Soda Popinski
i LOVE how delightfully strange this man is, and how adorable he is despite being a man who. does have his fair share of anger issues. Like Bull, it's just so cute how he dances when he wins, and even juggles in TD, all while bubbles appear around his head ! I wanna edit him to some hard bass music tbh, he'd be perfect for it.
At the same time, I can't help but fire the Angst Beam at him bc like. what r those scientists doing to him... It just makes me Wonder if he has a choice in the matter at all... BUT ending on a lighthearted note, he has a rly funny, pitiful reaction to being star punched in contender mode, and i like his stache. hes like a kitty. To Me.
Piston Hondo
Hondo is one of those characters who has that perfect blend of seriousness and goofiness. He can outrun a bullet train. he reads sailor moon in the ring. he (if you intepret him that way) gives mac advice during intermissions by referencing ancient Japanese proverbs. he calls out for sushi when he gets knocked down.
Another reason why Hondo is great is bc his win to lose ratio is literally 26-1 before he fights mac, meaning he has only ONE loss before mac beats him. It really gives you the vibe this guy is in his prime and the real deal, despite "only" being in the lower major circuit. It really gives you the vibe he'll climb in the ranks, which i think is an awesome, subtle piece of characterization.
Gabby Jay
LISTEN OK... Hes probably my favorite SPO character, mainly bc of how little info we have of him, and yet how much is implied with said little info. Like. He's gotta be a little insane in the noggin right. He literally gave up his job as a cafĂŠ waiter to become a boxer at middle age. As the poster describes it "something snapped." Imo this implies he just got so tired of dealing w/ unreasonable costumers that he channeled all his anger into boxing. In short, I think he's mad interesting despite how little we know about him.
Plus! He says an old man who says YAY as a taunt... doesn't get any better than that. He's adorable.
Mad Clown
First of all, this man is an enigma. what do you MEAN he was an opera singer, has had a mental breakdown, joined the circus and then quit to take up boxing, AND HES ONLY 27 ????
Secondly, and yes this is once again very hc based, I think this man, since hes a palette swap of bear hugger, would have a circus bear as a coach, and that his bear is one of his only friends, which probably adds to his . Thirdly, eventhough I wish his outfit was more orthodox, it is VERY cool having a clown boxer in the lineup (spoken like a true clown liker), esp one with such a colorful past, befitting his outfit. He's just so sillaayyyy.
Great Tiger
This guy is literally SO much fun, it's a shame i don't rotate him in my mind often enough. I feel like he'd b great to have at parties. He has a nice voice as well, I feel like he'd do well as a radio presentor or smth.
WHICH REMINDS ME !! the wii commercials !! "send word to my mother; i am in jail" showstopping, peak comedy, life changing. Also the idea that he is just. blisfully unaware of his own weaknesses or maybe even his faults is an interesting character trait that i feel like people should explore more, its interesting !! Lastly, i LOVE how his own clones talk to eachother, that reminds me sm of my own stimming as an autistic person. I like your funny words, magic man.
Dragon Chan
Initally, i didn't rly get the hype for him, but recently I've gotten it more now !! I rly like his hair and his gimmick is funny as hell. Plus, I like to think since's based on both bruce lee and jackie chan, that hes an actor !! Think about it; what if he choreographed the fights, directed the movies n wrote them ?? it adds a whole new dimension to his character !! Anyway, Dragon is cool asf.
Hoy Quarlow
The fact he calls you sonny is so gd funny to me. I love mischivious old people characters, they're always so hilarious. Also, someone please take this man out of the boxing ring, who even put him there. He barely resembles a boxer outside of his boxing gloves. Im pretty sure the guy isn't even an actual boxer n just decided to enter the ring to fuck w/ people. The man's gotta do smth on his retirement age !!
Either way, he's p unique to me as the oldest boxer w/ no palette swap, even if hes also rly unfitting for the game.
Bob Charlie
His name is goofy as hell first of all, and secondly, again, i love the idea of music boxers. u cant tell me bobby n disco wouldnt be friends.
Also, I know it's just a reused sound bite from gabby jay, but the fact he goes "yay!" when he wins by KO is so cute to me ghgh. In general, he has a rly funny voice, despite how limited it is. Charles Martinet is the king fr. Also I like that he has purple n red in his palette, it's a nice combo.
Mr. Sandman
He has a cool voice, some great lines, and is, despite his looming figure, kind of a goofball (him going "BOO!") in the ring. Despite that though... I just don't find him as interesting as say, my faves, because he isn't as cartoony as them. I know they wanted to make him more serious as to make him a more threatening final boss, but even then he's just.. kinda dull imo. He's higher on this tier cause he has more going for him than the last two, but eh idk. just wish he was a bit more interesting.
Piston Hurricane
I think his gimmick is really cool, i love the idea of elemental boxers. the execution is rather dull, however. I do like his haircut n colorscheme tho !!! As u might know, i've also made a redesign of him, wherein i give him swirly corn rows, which i thought was a cool nod to his wind element. Don't have much else to say. He's just missed potential.
Narcis Prince
Look... I can see the hype for him. hes a very funny, attractive (I GUESS... i just find him basic looking) character, but hes just not for me at all. the outfit is what mostly throws me off, he looks like a basketball player who dressed himself in the dark đđđin general SPO has a huge probem w/ overdesigning their characters and Not Really making them look like boxers, but man he has got to be one of the most egrerious examples... That said, he is funny at least so he's got that going for him. I love his asshole laugh, but thats ab it. if he had appeared in Wii n received more characterization, im sure he would b up there w/ aran in joe in levels of popularity.
"I dont feel strongly about you"
Basically what it says on the tin. I don't really have any strong feelings on them to have fully formed opinions. At least w/ pizza pasta i did give him some characterization in my Uppercut to Ăbersetzung fic, but what we have for him in canon? its basically nothing ghgh. I do think you can have some fun w/ him tho, plenty to work with.
as for the others? ehhh idrc ab them soz. Masked Muscle has a funny lose quote, but his gimmick is rly gross. Heike is ok i guess but doesnt rly stand out to me. Rick n Nick r interchangeable to me. n thats everyo- oh wait yeah kid quick. hes just weird looking, like a pug.
"mike tyson and mr not mike tyson"
real man and not real man. what else is there to say?? I do really love what the fandoms done to mr dream tho, ive seen some cool concepts float around :3
but yeah. hes not a character i particularly think about.
#dw ill save you all from tagging every single character#i literally did not proofread this btw so if theres any mistakes dont roast me </3#its 11 pm cut me some slack#punch out#punch out wii#super punch out#tiermaker#monkey brain typing
The Hunger Games AU!Tommy Shelby x Lucy Winters Headcanons
It'll be awhile until I will actually be able to write this AU down, but I need to tell you all about some of my ideas before I actually explode, so here you go. As it almost always is with me, this is long as hell because I just do not know when to shut the fuck up đ And this isn't even close to all of the ideas that I have for them at this point in time.
Please note I may tweak some of the lore of The Hunger Games universe here and there. And kudos to @evita-shelby who also has a fantastic list of headcanons for this AU that you should check out! There's a little overlap between mine and hers! And also a shout out to @justrainandcoffee and @call-sign-shark for putting this idea into my head in the first place!
Tommy's Games
Both Tommy and Lucy are from District 12 and have Covey ancestry. Both of their families were poor, and them and their siblings all signed up for and claimed multiple tessera.
When Tommy was 15, he volunteered to take Arthur's place when Arthur was reaped.
He was an immediate favorite, and many in the Capitol fawned over how handsome he was.
The arena he competed in was a mountain covered by a sparse forest, and containing a cave system within. All water located within the arena could be found in the caves, forcing the tributes to venture inside and brave the mutts of bats, worms, snakes, spiders, and rats down there. Every 12 hours, the water in the pools in the caves would rise, either drowning tributes who got trapped, or forcing them up closer to the surface. Tommy used the caves and his experience working in District 12's mines to his advantage.
He was caught in a cave-in at one point, but managed to dig himself out. He killed several other tributes during his games in increasingly vicious ways, which garnered him a reputation as one of the most ruthless victors.
He hated the fame that came after he won, but used the money given to him after winning to buy horses and set up a stable in the victor's village.
Lucy watched his games with great interest, and her brothers teased her for having a crush on Tommy due to how invested she was in the Games that year and in him winning.
After winning, Tommy started to slowly amass influence over those in the Capitol. As the only victor for District 12, he became a mentor. He was also prostituted out regularly by Snow to Capitol citizens.
He began working with rebellion cells, offering assistance whenever he could.
Lucy's Games
Lucy was 18 when she was reaped. It didn't come as a massive surprise, given how many times her name had been put in, but it was still a punch to the gut, since she was one year away from no longer being eligible for the games.
She met Tommy, who would serve as her mentor, officially on the train. She was wary of him at first due to his reputation for being a womanizer in the Capitol and for the viciousness that he displayed when winning his games. This wasn't helped by how cold and gruff he was towards her on their first meeting.
Despite starting off rocky, she and Tommy eventually softened towards each other. He began to realize that she actually had a chance of winning, and she was grateful to the advice he gave her and the moments of kindness and comfort he offered.
Her weapon of choice in the arena were throwing knives, which she was deadly accurate with. Her strategy was to remain uninteresting and non-threatening to the other tributes.
On the night before the games, she had a panic attack and Tommy stayed up with her for most of the night, working to calm her down, and promised that he wouldn't let her die.
The arena she competed in was a dark, maze-like cave system. The mutts featured in the arena were giant, bat-like creatures (think like the monsters in The Descent) that were blind but had highly sensitive hearing.
Tommy had himself a quiet little freak-out when he saw the arena they put Lucy in, since it brought back memories of his own games. He still suspects that the uncanny similarities might've been Snow trying to fuck with him for some reason. It did have it's advantages though, since it made lots of the advice he'd given her for surviving extra useful.
Tommy worked night and day to get her sponsorships.
Lucy survived, but barely, and suffered severe scarring on her body from being nearly mauled by a mutt.
Post-Games
Lucy self-isolated significantly the first year after winning her games. Outside of one of her brothers, Teddy, her family didn't offer much support. Tommy took it upon himself to regularly check in and look after her.
They soon developed a habit of sleeping in the same bed together to help with the nightmares they both suffered. They bonded strongly over their similar traumas and their shared love of horses.
Lucy also became a mentor.
When they first started having sex, it was mainly for comfort and connection, since both were big in denial about their building feelings for one another.
Tommy made a deal with Snow to keep Lucy from being made a part of the sex trafficking of victors.
Even after admitting their feelings to each other, they were unable to be publicly together, as Snow did not want Tommy's desirability to potential buyers to decline.
Lucy was aware of the prostitution Snow put Tommy through, and while it horrified and enraged her, she never held it against Tommy, and always did her best to reassure him whenever he expressed guilt towards her over it.
Lucy's youngest brother, William, was reaped a few years after she won. She suspected this to be purposeful, and a retaliation for some of her more rebellious actions towards Snow.
Despite her and Tommy doing their best to mentor him, William was killed in the arena. Lucy was heartbroken, and some members of her family blamed her for his death.
Tommy and Lucy both offered help to the growing rebellion whenever they could, and participated in the storming of the Capitol.
Both survived, and afterwards they finally were able to get married, and opened up a stable providing equestrian therapy for those suffering from PTSD from the games or the battle with the Capitol.
Disventure Camp All Stars Power Ranking (Round 12 - Venus)
Hey everybody! @accirax got me into yet another media! Truly shocking!
Basically, power rankings are a way of guessing who will be next eliminated in the YouTube series, Disventure Camp All Stars (the third season of Disventure Camp). I only just caught up as of last episode, so this is my first time doing the power rankings! If you want, you can look at mine and accirax's as a sort of versus situation; we didn't consult until after we finished writing these.
But, basically, the characters will be ranked from 1 to 9, with 1 being least likely to go home and 9 being most likely to go home. At the end of the next episode, I gain points equal to the ranking of the player eliminated. At the end of the show, you get to see how many points you won.
Anyways, let's jump into it! Unlike accirax, I don't really get a whole lot other than excitement out of the trailers, so I'm gonna be going straight for the ranking and analysis.
1: Grett
Honestly, it kinda surprises me that I'm putting Grett at the very top, but it makes sense to me. After all, I feel like one of the biggest plot arcs going on right now is the tension between Grett and Yul, in which you're obviously supposed to root for Grett and against Yul. Obviously Grett could go out and Gabby could avenge her or something, but... eh.
Even beyond that meta reason, I don't really understand why people would be voting Grett. She's not especially threatening in challenges, nor is she the one running the villains' alliance. The best reason I can think of is the classic Survivor "vote for the least likely target so that they misplay an idol," but like... the villains don't need an idol right now. They have the numbers. They'd only need an idol if they flip someone (likely Gabby flipping to take out Yul, who would actively not want to target Grett) or if the heroes find an idol. It really seems like they aren't putting multiple idols in the game at the same time, so that would guarantee the villains wouldn't have one, meaning that the heroes could have their pick of targets. Why pick Grett in that case?
2: Gabby
Hopefully I am not in danger putting Gabby very high as accirax was last week. I think we're good from a meta level, though.
Gabby has very clearly been considering flipping on the villains and going back to the heroes, both for Grett's sake to get rid of Yul and because Ellie told her to watch her back and not truly trust the villains. Paired with Gabby being friendly with Tom at his elimination, rather than continuing to seek vengeance for Ellie, it really seems like her flipping is in the cards here. And, because the heroes need to get back on top eventually, I think that flip is going to go through successfully, rather than the villains taking her out as a preemptive strike or something.
It's definitely possible that if Gabby doesn't flip this episode, she might receive the heroes' votes again for... unknown reasons. I still don't super understand why they voted for her last time. But, if Gabby doesn't flip, I find it unlikely that the heroes would have the numbers to actually oust a villain, which means Gabby should be safe.
3: Jake
Mr. Plot Armor himself. Welcome back to the high parts of the list.
The thing is, even if Jake's meta armor is arguably wearing thin (he's already got things as resolved as they're probably gonna get for a while with Tom, and he's learning to make up with Aiden quickly), I don't really see the in-game reason for the villains to target him. Like... Jake is annoying and gullible. He causes the most rifts in the heroes' alliance, by far. Even if the villains have the numbers, it's still good to keep someone like that in the game so that, once the villains start looking to turn on each other, you don't have to worry as much about the straggling heroes pulling together the numbers for an uprising.
Also, if I had to guess, Jake is still going to be in the main game at the time of the losers' motel episode. I've been theorizing that that's going to be around final 5 or so; it'll be at a point where everyone who isn't in the very late game can be in it. This is because I think it's going to be a major place to wrap up plot threads/get people ready for the plot threads to be wrapped up in the season finale, so you want to make sure all your viable characters are in place to get their character development.
It's definitely possible that Tom and Jake are going to make up in the losers' motel episode. That would be the most viable reason for Jake to be there, in my opinion. My personal take, though, is that Tom will probably get himself to be really ready to talk to Jake in the losers' motel episode, probably talking to Miriam again or something, and then Jake would pick Tom as his person in the finale, and they could make up there.
In any case, I'd be pretty surprised if Jake went down here, for both in-universe reasons and for meta reasons. He's just at the center of so many plot threads. I think they want to take the time to set up some more, new plot threads before cutting Jake, if they intend to do so.
4: Connor
I'm going to open this by saying that I have no idea what to make of Connor as a character. I never have, and it's quite possible I never will. So, sorry Connor stans, I have NO idea where this man is going.
However! I do know that if they're going to burn their back from the dead slot on Connor, they're planning on him doing... something. Like, literally anything. I guess he did pull the heroes together to vote together last time, but... they didn't actually eliminate a villain to seize the majority. I just feel like if his fate was to rally the heroes, then immediately get kicked out again before reaping any of the benefits, it would feel... weird? Like, he should get at least one victory. He has to talk to Riya, at least, and from the trailer, it doesn't seem like there's a big impending Connor/Riya conversation.
So, I kinda have Connor here strictly for narrative reasons. My biggest hesitation with putting him so high is the part last episode where Riya and Yul talk about how dead Connor is once he doesn't have immunity, which was important enough dialogue that it made the episode trailer. That definitely seems... shady, for Connor's survival odds. But also, it seems like he's kicking Yul's ass in the episode preview, so maybe Connor just wins and that prophecy waits for another day!
5: Alec
This is definitely not just me believing in Alec's viability to survive. This is definitely based on logic and evidence. (<- is an Alec stan)
I was worried about him last episode, but I believed he'd make it out alive, and look! He did! He won immunity! He probably won't win a third one in a row, but I think that last immunity bought him some time.
Now that the villains have the majority, they have to lose it or face an idol in order to lose it. I think an idol would feel kind of cheap here, though; the villains won the tie 5-5 vote twice already. Having them lose that lead AGAIN to an idol, putting the numbers back even at 4-4, is a bit repetitive. I don't really know which of the villains would flip on Alec specifically to take him out, or at least at this point. I could definitely see a late game situation where, Fiore style, Riya flips on Alec to take him out as the biggest threat to win, but for right now, Alec is a useful ally. He's proven repeatedly that he's loyal to the villains alliance and can help out other villains, like how he helped Gabby win the tiebreaker challenge.
I definitely feel like Alec is being set up to be the main villain of the season. That could mean he's the first villain of the post-merge villains' alliance to be defeated, but I think it's much more likely he'll make a deeper run.
6: Riya
I didn't really know where to put Riya. I don't feel like there's a whole lot keeping her in the game, necessarily, but I also don't feel like she's in imminent danger. Six it is, I guess.
Basically, I think if a villain is going to go home this episode, it'll be Yul. He's the one who's had his downfall most specifically set up, and I think the heroes are going to take the advantage by flipping Gabby to take him out. As a result, I feel like the other villains are pretty safe, all things considered. Riya was much more threatened when the heroes could take their shot at anyone on the 50/50. Now that the villains have the advantage, Riya has much more built-in protection.
I'm not sure exactly where Riya is going to place overall. She made a deep run last time, but she also wasn't behaving the same way for most of last game, so they might want her to make a genuine deep run again. Then again, it's not like anyone who's made it this far is having a short run, and I could easily believe they'll call it quits on Riya content sometime soon. Especially given that Riya and Aiden might be talking again this episode-- that's one of the major plot threads with her that still feels unresolved. I guess she should also technically be safe until she talks to Connor, based on my Connor logic?
7: Ally
Let it be known that I struggled with exactly how to rank these last three. I think that any of them could very plausibly be going out this episode.
My big hangup with Ally in both directions is that I feel like she hasn't done much of anything for a while. The most memorable thing she's done in recent memory is talk to Tess during the returnee challenge and yell at Jake in the space challenge. Since her relationship with Jake is kinda being treated as the less important version of Jake and Aiden's, I don't really know where that leaves her. Plus, her most important connections are to people in the losers' motel.
Something that's working against Ally is that I do think she'll be in the losers' motel by the losers' motel episode. Things haven't been resolved between her and Hunter (and Tess. Believe in the polycule), and they pretty clearly indicated that they wanted to wait until after the game to discuss things further. That means this isn't a character relationship struggle that we can realistically solve during the finale challenge; they need to talk this out AFTER the game. Plus, Ally's fixation with how the audience is perceiving her means that it might be interesting to see her get to actually witness the audience's opinions of her, which is only possible from outside of the game.
That being said, none of that means Ally needs to get booted this episode. She easily could, but it's also very possible she's still got more plot to get through.
The biggest thing threatening Ally, imo, is that she's the most generically expendable hero at this point. If the writers want another round of "yeah, the heroes are still losing" and a round where the status quo doesn't really change, Ally is the best boot option. That being said, I feel like we're entering a time period where the writers do want to shake up the status quo, which is why I don't have her at the very bottom.
8: Yul
I thought Yul was 100% going home last episode. Then, I thought he was 100% going home this upcoming episode. Now, I think he's most likely to go home the episode after that.
Yul is very clearly gonna get flipped on and eliminated one of these days. His villainy is too villainous, and much like Alec worried about, if Yul sucks too much, all the villains are gonna have to pay the price for it. We're at 9 now. Why wouldn't Gabby flip now and send Yul home? It's definitely a possibility, and a pretty likely one at that.
The thing is, Gabby taking out Yul for Grett's sake isn't necessarily the whole story. I feel like part of the point with Grett is that she needs to stand up for herself, too. The reason why I like Yul going down at final 8 instead of final 9 is that you'd need Grett to flip, too, to send Yul home. I think it'd leave the game state in a much more interesting place if Gabby and Grett agree to flip to take out Yul, but afterwards, the villains still have a tentative majority if they decide to work together. It makes it much more nuanced than "Gabby flips on Yul and now the heroes have the advantage for the rest of the game."
That being said, it's very possible I'm just overthinking this and Yul's ass is GONE. I'd definitely believe it. Part of me still kinda thinks that's the most likely, even if it's not the verdict I actually ended up going with.
9: Aiden
Sorry king, but you might be slaying too close to the sun.
If I'm right and the Gabby flip doesn't happen this episode, that means a hero is almost certainly going down. I don't think it'll be Jake or Connor, which really left it between Ally and Aiden. My basic logic is that Aiden feels like he has more plot threads wrapping up.
Aiden has been playing for himself for a while now, after his declaration post-James and Lake boots. He was friends with Tom, he's making up with Jake, he's confronting Riya. That's, like, most of what he's got going on this season. It's definitely possible that the reason they're investing more in Jake and Aiden's relationship than Jake and Ally's is because they're going to last longer, but personally, I'm more thinking it's because Aiden is going to get voted off first.
Plus, I feel like he's a pretty good target for the villains. Most people like Aiden and want to work with him, plus he seems like someone who'd be pretty opposed to working with any of the villains under any circumstances. The villains are going to have to choose who to target. If I'm roughly hypothesizing that Connor wins immunity, and Jake is the most likely to cause fractures in the heroes' alliance, that only leaves Ally or Aiden. I think, if I were the villains, I'd be more likely to see Ally as a potential asset and Aiden as a potential threat than the other way around.
Besides, I do think it's possible that they're going to want to use losers' motel episode to get the audience some Jaiden content. We didn't get much in the returnee episode, soooo...
Wrap-Up
Thanks for listening! I'm excited to be able to watch Disventure Camp in real time from here on out, especially given that we're getting new content every week. I'm just gonna put some other half-baked theories at the end here as bonus content because I don't have enough to make a whole post:
I think Jake is the most likely winner pick, but I also think Gabby is a really viable winner. She's going to be a pivotal piece of why the villains took charge when they did, and, I suspect, a pivotal piece of why the heroes were able to fight back. Narratively, that could make her a satisfying winner pick. It would also be a way to potentially get Ellie some of the money without Ellie having to continue to subject herself to the game, which has proven to be bad for her.
I think Derek is going to get offered a promotion-- specifically, taking Emily's place, to an extent. I forget exactly what Emily was supposed to be handling (the confessionals, maybe?), but the fact of the matter is, there should be a non-intern spot opening up in the payroll. This would be a natural but concrete way to continue escalating Derek getting favored over Trevor, which I think is good. Derek and Trevor's plotline is probably supposed to last for most of the season, which means we still need a lot more developments before it can be properly resolved.
Alec will adopt Fiore. Alec WILL adopt Fiore. Alec will--
This isn't a theory, but I do wonder if the fact that Connor hypothetically should still own the losers' motel will be relevant at all ever? That was probably just a one-off joke, but still.
Rambles over! Looking forward to the next episode!
Dearest Izzy,
I saw you wearing the ribbon today. I hope this letter got to you quickly, so you didnât think I abandoned you.
I should confess that Captain Bonnet is writing these letters for me. I donât know how to write, so heâs taking everything down for me.
Izzy, I wish you had someone in your life who was as devoted to you as you are devoted to others. You deserve to have someone treat you that way, the way you treat people YOU love. And not just people, everything in your life.
I donât know that youâd actually like me at all. Iâm much younger than you. Iâm not the kind of person people notice. The nicest thing anyone here has ever said about me is that I was an âoriginal character,â whatever that means. Frankly, I think youâd find me annoying. But oh, how I could listen to *you* talk all day.
Shall we set up a meeting?
-Y.S.A.
Stede Fuckinâ Bonnet.
Of course he was the one writing these letters. Izzy had begun to wonder if perhaps - based on how romantically written the first letter was - Bonnet had somehow been a part of it. Though, now knowing that piece of information, it was surprising that he was managing to keep it a secret. He was even acting normal anytime he came around Izzy, giving nothing away. But he wondered if that would change now given that he wrote this letter so heâd obviously know that his name was mentioned - that it was revealed he was the one writing these letters, but not the one that felt so strongly for him. Not the one that called Izzy beautiful, Kind and devoted. That told him he deserved to be loved the way he loved.
Gods, who was behind these letters!?
âIâm much younger than you.â
Another hint. The list was shortening. It wasnât Stede because he was writing the letters (unless it was to throw Izzyâs suspicions off), but he wasnât much younger than him. He was also out on deck all the time and apparently this person was not. He was barely noticed? Who from the crew spent most of their time below deck⌠It was beginning to drive him mad trying to figure this out, though there was the offer of meeting to be considered now. Something Izzy was really considering even though a part of him wanted to try and figure it out first. But it was maddening and he didnât want to go on too long with it⌠so, he sought out Stede.
Actually, he waited until he was alone in his quarters. Then he found him, confronted him, and asked him to write to his secret admirer with a response, agreeing to meet. Fuckinâ Bonnet and his Fuckinâ smile. He was having fun with this, he was smiling, excited for Izzy and more so, excited to be part of it. Izzy almost wanted to smack that smirk off of his face, but he was just helping whoever it was that requested his help. And Izzy was impressed Bonnet didn't out the name of his secret admirer, not even when Izzy threatened him. An empty threat, of course, and even Bonnet knew that. Besides, it was a little more fun this way, even if it was starting to drive Izzy mad.
He thinks about having Bonnet write a letter in return, but that wasn't really Izzy's style and it wasn't like it was a secret on his end.
"Shall I tell them you'll meet?" Bonnet questions with an excited look in his eyes as though he's reading one of his books, left on a cliffhanger.
Izzy sighs. Bonnet is enjoying this a little too much and he just hope the twat doesn't keep this going for his own amusement. Izzy wouldn't put it passed him, though. "Yeah, and don't even think about stallin', Bonnet."
Bonnet huffs. "But this is fun, Izzy! I've never done anything like this before."
"Bonnet." He doesn't need to make a verbal threat. It's in his eyes this time and Stede frowns.
"Oh, fine. I'll tell them." He huffs in disappointment, but deep down, he's still excited. He doesn't know how Izzy feels about this person, but he does believe Izzy deserves to know that he's appreciated and loved.
One step closer to unraveling this mystery, Izzy thinks. Though, he's far more nervous now...
#anon#it's driving izzy mad and me mad omg xD#is it a mutual? a new follower?#WHO IS IT#possibly on sided? đ#and if so I apologize in advanced xD#but itâs still fun#c; izzy hands
Can't say I wouldn't get a lobotomy if it came with a free top surgery. Canon transmasc Hajime real, but people do whatever most convenient for their stories and I got used to people being scared of putting transness and parenthood together, so that was a positive surprise to see. And yesss to Gundham being Kokichi's favourite uncle. You heard of Shuichi was making presentations to reassure Togami, get ready for Kokichi making a presentation explaining to Hajime the benefits of joining sondam soon after his throuples exist naegirigami realization, with arguments such as: they're both cool and that'd balance out your no fun energy, I would be nice to Himiko if I was her older brother, can't promise I will be otherwise, the Devas already accepted me, if you don't want to join then I'll just run away on my own. It would be very threatening if they weren't close neighbours and loving having Kokichi around, it still causes some trouble, with Himiko being quite younger and needing undisturbed nap time, and that's how Gundham officially becomes an uncle unlike other babysitters, they just had to sit down and give Kokichi a good explanation why he can't be his dad, this sets off a process of elimination that leads to several others becoming his aunts and uncles, eventually all kids on Jabberwock have to deal with Kokichi being their cousin, he's almost catching up to Shuichi in the competition, the work's not done until he has outdone him though
(At least with as far as I've gotten, the main dr games can get a lot funnier if you head canon the protag as trans I could talk about it for hours) Kokichi essentially working his way down the list of people on Jabberwock that could possibly end up with Hajime and ending up with aunts and uncles instead is kinda hilarious lmao. He got the right answer with the wrong formula yknow? Also just imagine at HPES they have like. a family day where the kids have to make family trees and every Jabberwock kid is like "and this is my cousin Kokichi-"
From your recently reblogged (1/28) prompt list
27 & 33 for Jake & Savannah đĽş
Whenever you get to it. :)
Heyyyy! Hope it's all going well on your end :) I love this!
27. "I'm okay. Don't worry about me." and 33. "Show me where it hurts."
I am having SO many thoughts lmaoooo.
I also think this kind of ties into what I said about Jake and his childhood- linked here if you want to check it out :)
-
Jake, Savannah and their two year old landed in Austin around 10pm, little Ronan tucked into his mother's side. Savannah had initially been against flying so late but something came up at work and Jake had to stay a little later- apparently Maverick had done a Maverick and Jake had been involved. She wasn't surprised; those two were scarily similar sometimes.
-
"Got your coat?" Jake asked as he stood from his aisle seat when a majority of the plane was cleared out. Savannah nodded, pulling it tighter around her little boy who was finally asleep. He'd never been to Texas let alone on a plane so the first half of the flight had been full of nervous apologies to those around them. Jake had taken Ronan on his lap for a little while and pulled up Bluey which seemed to work but then he'd wanted Savannah and she'd never say no to him; to be fair, she'd never say no to either of her boys.
"Can you grab the luggage?" Savannah asked as she got up, Ronan covered by her jacket to hopefully keep him asleep.
"Got it. I'll text my folks in a second."
As they disembarked Savannah kept one hand holding Ronan securely but the other tangled in Jake's belt loop. He'd never say it, but he didn't particularly like coming back to Texas. Not anymore, not unless they were going to visit Javy's family. There was a family reunion this weekend and everyone wanted to meet the baby. Jake's parents had only seen Ronan once, too busy with their lives, and one of his sisters had come to San Diego to give them a hand a couple of weeks after he was born but Savannah spent most of it undoing everything she'd done. Honestly, the best help they'd had was Bradley and his wife Dee; they had three and were old hats by then. Dee had been by Savannah's side as much as she'd needed, and Bradley had surprisingly been exactly what Jake needed when he was sleep deprived because he could threaten everything under the sun and Bradley wouldn't even flinch.
-
The baggage claim queue wasn't too bad, the reason they'd picked a later flight. Jake hoisted the car seat on to his arm and passed the smaller suitcase to Savannah.
"You got him?" He checked with her, and she nodded.
"He's out, hopefully we can keep him that way. The time zone change is going to fuck him up."
"The way my family is, that's not the only thing that's going to fuck him up," Jake murmured. Savannah frowned.
"Hey; we don't have to do this. We can turn around, say our flight got cancelled, and head straight back home."
"No, we can't. I promised my mom; I can't go back on it."
They walked toward the exit of the airport, eyebrows raising when they spotted Jake's father standing toward the exit.
"Jake!" He called out. Savannah smiled at him but Jake stiffened.
"I think I'm gonna throw up," he whispered. Savannah glanced at him in alarm. He did look a little pale, but he was already moving slowly toward his dad. They shook hands, then Savannah waved. Usually she would hug but Ronan was asleep and she didn't want to move him just yet.
"Father."
"It's been a while."
Jake's father went to look in the carseat but Savannah shook her head.
"I've got him- he's asleep for now, hopefully he stays that way. It's good to see you, Mr Seresin."
"Jake, you look good."
"Thanks, dad."
Jake lifted the carseat on his arm.
"The car?"
"Right! Let's go, I'm sure you two are ready to get into bed."
Daniel led the way out of the arrivals and into the carpark, pausing at his SUV.
"Let's get this hooked up, and then we'll be on our way," he said, reaching for the car seat. Savannah pulled her coat open a little once Jake had put the suitcases in the boot, carefully passing Ronan to him.
"Oh no that's okay, I got it, no woman should have to mess with a car seat while their husband holds the baby," Daniel said when she tried to help.
"No, there's a specific buckle- ah! There."
She clipped the final piece in, an expert in doing it considering they had one seat for two cars, and Jake carefully tucked Ronan in. They then got into the SUV and Daniel started it, glancing over his shoulder at Ronan and Savannah in the backseat.
"You two warm enough back there?"
"Yes, thank you," Savannah replied politely.
-
The drive back to the main Seresin residence took about an hour and luckily Ronan stayed asleep the whole time. Jake and his father had a stilted catch up conversation; Jake couldn't talk work because of what he did for work, but Daniel liked to talk about the ranch and all of the town gossip so that made up for it. It hurt Savannah to think Daniel would never know half of the incredible things his son did. He was up for a promotion soon and he was ecstatic about it; but he was staying quiet for the drive.
They pulled into the driveway and Jake glanced over his shoulder at his son and wife for a moment before unbuckling his seatbelt.
Savannah was ready to pep-talk him into the next century but he was already out of the passenger seat, rounding the car to open Ronan's door. Ronan stirred, yawning as he scrubbed at his eyes. He reached out for Jake the second he saw him and Jake got him out of his carseat while Savannah grabbed her backpack off the floor. By the time she got out of the car Jake was greeting his mother, bending nearly in half to hug her.
"Hi Mrs Seresin, how are you?" Savannah asked politely, doing the usual greetings of hugs.
"Savannah, you look well. And please, it's Jackie, you married my son," Jake's mother greeted her. They all stepped inside and the house was dark, which was weird considering Jake's youngest sibling was 18 and still living at home.
"Bailey not home tonight?" Jake asked, glancing around.
"No, she's out with some friends. You know how it is, right before graduation and all of that. Can I get you anything?"
"Mrs Seresin, I'm really sorry, I need to get Ronan to bed and I'm pretty wiped myself. Would it be okay for us to go to bed?" Savannah asked. Apparently that was the wrong thing to say, as Jackie seemed mildly offended by the request.
"I'll show you your room."
Jackie led Savannah through the house, walking past the stairs and opening a door which led to a bedroom.
"The crib is just over there, fresh towels and toiletries are in the ensuite. Anything else?" She asked. Savannah politely shook her head.
"No, but thank you. We really appreciate it."
"The others should be here around 9am tomorrow morning."
Savannah dreaded the morning- the time zones meant Ronan would be up early, and it was nearing midnight already. Jake came in with Ronan, and Jackie cleared her throat.
"I guess I'll leave you two to it."
The door closed behind her and Savannah glanced over her shoulder at Jake as he began getting Ronan ready for bed.
"Do you want to talk about what's bothering you?" She asked. Jake shook his head.
"I'm okay. Don't worry about me."
"I don't believe you, but okay. I've got your back, just tell me what you need."
Jake smiled, pausing to press a kiss to Savannah's temple. She wrapped her arms around his waist and the pair kissed, sighing as they paused for a moment.
"Tomorrow's going to be nuts, isn't it?" Savannah whispered into Jake's shirt.
"Yeah. Sorry."
"Hah, I'm sure I'll remember that later. C'mon, let's get Ronan into bed."
-
Ronan woke at 5, calling out for his parents as he sat in the crib. Savannah was convinced Jake hadn't actually slept, he moved far too quick for someone who had been passed out when Ronan called for him. The three of them had snuggles for a couple of hours, then Savannah heard a knock at the door.
"Everyone decent?" A playful voice called through the door. Jake smiled; a big, real smile, and he called back.
"I would keep your eyes closed if you're comin' in!"
"Jake, you're literally disgusting."
The door swung open and Savannah realised this was Jake's youngest sibling; Bailey. She had the same eye colour as Jake, the same sandy blonde hair except hers curled where Jake's was pretty much pin-straight. She beamed and Jake got up to give her a hug, swinging her around.
"It's been so long, I'm so sorry I couldn't come see you when little dude was born- hi Sav- can I call you Sav? Jake calls you Sav."
"Hey Bailey, and yeah of course! It's great to finally meet you!"
Savannah picked Ronan up, getting up to give Bailey a hug too. When they pulled away Savannah glanced down at her son.
"Ronan, this is your Aunt Bailey."
Ronan glanced between his parents before he smiled, clapping his hands together. Bailey glanced over at Jake.
"He's definitely yours. Hi little dude, you're adorable! Favourite nephew, hands down."
"Don't let Jared hear you say that, you know Jack is his pride and joy," Jake lightly scolded. Bailey rolled her eyes.
"Jack is a shithead of a five year old, it's different."
"That's fair," Jake agreed, tickling Ronan's sides.
"Are the other two on their way?" Jake asked. Bailey grimaced.
"Yeah, Jared and his family are about an hour out and Jayne said she's got to do something before she's going to meet us here."
"Sweet, so we won't see either of them before lunch."
"Mommy, hungry," Ronan said, poking Savannah's cheek. She glanced down at him, gently removing his fingers from her face.
"Gentle, Ronan. Alright, let's get you something to eat."
-
The family reunion wasn't just started by 9am, it was in full swing and Savannah was keeping an eye on Ronan as she and Jake milled about, greeting various family members. Jake kept his hand on her waist, protective but light, and her drink was always full whether it was juice in the morning or the champagne in the afternoon. They happened to walk past his father at one point and catch part of the conversation; it made Savannah's blood run hot and she pulled on Jake's shirt, whirling on her heel to face his father.
"I'm sorry; what did you just say about my son?"
"Sav-"
"I said that he was born out of wedlock; it's bad luck, you know how it is. I didn't mean anythin-"
"Oh, so you didn't imply that Ronan isn't Jake's then?" Savannah asked simply. Jake's eyebrows shot up and the arm on Savannah's waist tightened a little.
"Dad, what the fuck? Why the hell would you do that?"
"-I just meant-"
"-daddy!"
Jake's father ears were instinctively tuned to the sound of his son's distress and he spotted Ronan on the ground nearby, blood pooling on a cut from his knee. He was already crying and Jake rushed off to make sure he was okay. Daniel went to turn back to his conversation but Savannah wasn't done.
"Jake and I didn't have to come to this reunion, plain and simple. We were both concerned about what you'd said to him in the past. You and your wife have been nothing but cold toward us since we flew in last night, and your eldest son and daughter are staring like we're aliens. The only person who has showed us kindness out of your entire family is Bailey and that's terrifying because she's at the age where she's supposed to be a massive bitch, yet she's the sweetest person I've ever met."
"I helped you when Ronan was born!" Jayne exclaimed from across the crowd. Jake, still with Ronan, glared daggers at his eldest sister but Savannah had it in the bag.
"Yeah; you made a mess, fucked up our sleep schedule, and used the time in San Diego to take a break from your own kids. I really appreciated that."
She didn't seem to agree but Ronan was crying harder and Savannah turned sharply on her heel, kneeling by her little boy and husband. Jake's face was pinched, stressed, but Ronan was reaching for his mom.
"Hey, what happened? Show me where it hurts."
He pointed to his knee but kept sniffling into her shoulder. Jake was standing, glaring at his family who were staring.
"Haven't y'all got enough to stare at?" He hissed. Savannah tried not to tense up; she could hear the Hangman in his voice. He was about to go full asshole mode.
"Sav, take Ronan inside. First aid kit's in the bathroom near the stairs," Jake insisted softly. Savannah stood, Ronan in her arms, and paused to squeeze Jake's hand.
"Don't burn bridges you'll want to cross later," she whispered in his ear, kissing his temple. Bailey was making her way through the crowd, coming to help Savannah.
-
"There we go, all better!"
Savannah pressed a kiss to her fingers then the fingers to Ronan's now patched up knee, glancing over her shoulder at Bailey who was standing guard at the bathroom door.
"Bailey, could I ask you a favour?" She started. Bailey immediately nodded.
"Go, I can hang here with him. Jake could use a hand."
Savannah kissed Ronan's forehead, leaning down to get eye-level with him.
"Mommy and daddy are just outside, okay? Aunt Bailey's going to hang out with you."
Ronan was already distracted from the cut on his knee, going to Bailey and asking to watch Bluey. Bailey, the baby pro at this point considering Ronan is her sixth niece/nephew, pulled out her phone and sat with him on the floor. Savannah thanked her, quietly dipping out of the bathroom to find her husband.
-
"Jake."
"Sav, look, m'sorry..."
"Ah, there's that apology from last night. What the fuck possessed you out there? I've never seen you that angry, let alone with your family."
Savannah found Jake in the kitchen of all places, now nursing a black eye and a glass of water. She took a seat at the island next to him, pressing her lips to his temple. His arm reached out and she leaned into him, sighing.
"And where did that black eye come from? Do I want to know?"
"My brother throws a mean punch when you insinuate that he's been stepping out on his wife," Jake muttered. Savannah nudged his shoulder.
"Seriously?"
"Even before they were married, he was stickin' it where it don't belong."
"Ugh, Jake, gross."
Even as Savannah snorted, she kept her face buried into Jake's shoulder. He tilted her chin up and they kissed.
"Thanks for watching my back," he whispered. Savannah rolled her eyes.
"Someone's gotta; you're gonna put your foot in your mouth otherwise."
"That's true."
It is said that Viserys decreed that Alicent and her sons would return to court with him, while Rhaenyra would be confined to Dragonstone with her sons. Even now it is Ser Erryk and no longer Harwin who would serve Rhaenyra. The paragraph makes it very clear that it was Viserys who ordered Rhaenyra to stay in Dragonstone. Not her who confined herself there, although I think that decision must have helped her, because she was already living there almost full time anyway. But it wouldn't make sense for this paragraph to mean that Rhaenyra chose, since it's talking about Viserys' orders specifically.
That's very annoying of Viserys.
A)
Paragraph you refer to:
To prevent further conflict, and put an end to these âvile rumors and base calumnies,â King Viserys further decreed that Queen Alicent and her sons would return with him to court, whilst Princess Rhaenyra confined herself to Dragonstone with her sons. Henceforth Ser Erryk Cargyll of the Kingsguard would serve as her sworn shield, whilst Breakbones returned to Harrenhal. ("A Question of Succession")
If we use "self" and "her" together, it seems that Rhaenyra, as you said, decided to stay behind at Dragonstone.
The "whilst" lets us know that two separate events occurred at the same time and that while they may correlate, it's not necessarily a relationship of causation.
But in this case, they are.
B)
And like you said, anon, at this point, Rhaenyra had already stayed, ruled, and lived in Dragonstone for 5-6 years. Viserys didn't have to tell her to stay at Dragonstone -- it was her home and territory more than the Red Keep was and there would be no point in him doing that at all if she has literally nowhere else to go to be, especially to find some peace. So why tell her to stay behind?
To talk away from the book a little, in the show, Rhaenyra actually has only been there for perhaps a few months. Laena's funeral was at Dragontone, and they would not reasonably leave her charred body to rot for so long and then put her in a coffin for the sea. So it's likely that from the time Laena dies in #6 to her funeral in #7, it's been just maybe two, three, four months (and four is pushing it). Which just reduces Rhaenyra's experience once again aside from not having her develop a strong bond with Laena before her death just as she did in canon.
C)
Other than that, we do see how Book!Viserys never castigated her for traveling to the Red Keep for his hand injury or even mentioned any sort of confinement, her bringing Gerardys to heal him. And there was no mention, at all, of the court or council expressing surprise or wonder or any sort of thought to any sort of order of confinement.
......................................
Conclusion
If it wasn't for the fact that this paragraph does list events as from Viserys making commands and arranging new persons into places, I'd have disagreed with you. But I can't. It does, still, make me very frustrated with Viserys. Because the order for Rhaenyra to specifically confine herself is a nothing order that contradicts itself, more punishing than deserved. An attempt to appear "fair".
As for Rhaenyra choosing not to press Viserys to change his mind maybe through a letter, that would mean that, yes, Rhaenyra decided to use the opportunity to stay at Dragonstone because that is where her strength was and her family needed to recover from the ordeal away from the perpetrators. And/or her pride after what happened between them being bruised and at Viserys seemingly taking Alicent's side. (These are royals, but they are also family, and family tends to be resentful of each other esp when there's been an imbalance of adjudication or treatment or whatever.)
We remember that:
one of her sons' life was just threatened and he could have lost an eye if Alicent got her way...and he was present for Alicent to say this
the Red Keep is also where Alicent had been undermining, harassing, and provoking her since she was 10
Then it is more than an issue of acclimation and habitation for her and her family.
Distracted
Eddie Munson x Fem!Reader
You're a friend of Robin's whose been in his world peripherally for a while. Like you've gone to the same parties and you've hung out at Family Video and seen him when he brought the teens in to see Steve after Hellfire sessions. You've only hung out in groups and your conversations, though extremely flirty, have been pretty surface level.
But you've got a thing for the quirky metalhead. Not only is he a fucking babe, but he also seems genuinely sweet and is very funny. When you bring this up to Robin, however, you aren't prepared for how she lights up, telling you that Eddie's been asking about you, too. Ever the matchmaker, Robin pushes you into a plot that makes it so that you and Eddie end up alone at his place on a Saturday night (initial group plans are bailed on last minute by all the teens who were threatened within an inch of their life not to actually show up).
Eddie seems unfazed by this turn of events and takes it in stride, cracking open a six pack for the two of you to share and throwing on a horror movie.
"If you want to bail, too, that's cool," he lets you know, even as you plop down beside him on the couch, beer in hand. He's got a self-deprecating smile on his face. "I'm sure hanging out alone with the town freak wasn't exactly on your agenda this week."
"Don't presume to know my agenda, Munson," you tsk, feigning a frown that is already curling around the edges into the smile you can't suppress. "You know how type A I am. I won't have you questioning my to-do list."
You apply the innuendo lightly, but the way his eyebrow quirks lets you know that it lands as you'd intended. Eddie runs his tongue over his teeth while appraising you.
"I wouldn't dare get in the way of your efficiency, sweetheart." There's a dare in his eyes, but you lean back against the couch and watch him over the top of your bottle as you take a sip. You've got time.
As the night goes on, the two of you drink and laugh and tease one another. One movie ends and he puts on the sequel immediately. Some slasher where kids are running around screaming in the woods. The two of you discuss what your own strategy would be if you found yourselves in a similar situation. At this point, you're feeling loose and floaty - combination of the alcohol and the sound of Eddie's laughter. It's got bubbles fizzing in your bloodstream. Your bodies have shifted closer on the couch as time has gone on, and as he emphatically describes something, his hand comes down to press onto your knee. Seemingly just as a matter of emphasis and to ground your attention in his point, but you notice that his hand doesn't lift up when he finishes his monologue.
A thrill of possessive pleasure runs through your body at the realization.
"You know, you'd probably die somewhere around the halfway point of the movie," you challenge suddenly and Eddie's eyebrows shoot up in surprise.
"I'm sorry, princess, but what?!"
"You know because you're all..." you gesture to his body. The denim vest he's still wearing over his band tee even though he's relaxing at home. The tattoos. The heavy rings on the hand that's still resting on your knee. His fingers flex against your skin when you point at them.
"I'm a badass, you mean? What about my badassery makes you think I'm dying at all?"
"The cool guys always die at the midpoint," you argue. "They get distracted having sex with the hot girls and that's when the killer guts them." Exactly as you say this, as if the universe is trying to bolster your argument, a young man on screen is stabbed through the back mid-thrust, falling down bloody upon his shrieking lover. You glance away from the screen and back at Eddie with a satisfied smirk. "Case in point."
"All I got from that is the fact you think I'm cool," Eddie says with a smug smirk. You roll your eyes at him but shift a bit closer.
"I also said you'd die fucking a bimbo."
"No, you said I'd die fucking a hot girl," he corrects, also shifting infinitesimally closer.
"Oh, so you were listening," you tease. Your hand rests on top of his hand on your knee and you start fiddling with his rings.
"Yeah, and I guess that means you should be concerned," he says flippantly, his fingers splaying out on your knee so that yours have more space to move between them. You're now distracted by the attention you're focusing on his hand.
"Why should I be concerned?"
"Because the hot girl getting fucked by the cool guy dies next," he says, nodding his head towards the tv you had all but forgotten about just as a young woman running topless through the woods, her breasts swinging and covered in her dead boyfriend's blood, is cut down by the killer. You both laugh.
"All I got from that is the fact you think I'm hot," you say turning back to him and mimicking his prior comment. His face lights up with a grin.
"Guilty as charged, sweetheart."
The moment feels right. The electricity between the two of you is palpable and you lift his hand up off your knee and towards your lips.
"They only get got, though, because they get distracted," you posit, pressing a kiss to each of Eddie's rings. His eyes are trained on your lips, his own parted to let his suddenly shallow breathing pass through. "Do you think you could keep from getting distracted?"
"Uh...yeah," Eddie says, running his tongue over his bottom lip. "Yeah I'm sure I could stay focused. Vigilant."
"Oh yeah?" you ask, smiling at how he's already so distracted. Suddenly you're lowering his hand and bringing it to the top of your thigh, right at the hem of your skirt. He takes a sharp inhale. "What's that? Losing focus?"
"No. Never, sweetheart," he says with a laugh, though it's shaky. Without even losing a beat his fingers flex in your hand, the pad of his thumb caressing at the skin of your thigh that he's never touched till now.
"What about now?" you ask, abruptly pushing his hand up your skirt to rest on your clothed pussy.
Before you can even process the next heartbeat, Eddie is on you. His mouth is capturing yours in a soul searing kiss and you can't help but gasp into him. Taking in his taste and scent all at the same heady time. Your hand abandons his on your mound and you bring your arms up around his neck to pull him as close to you as possible.
"If I die, I fucking die,â Eddie practically growls against your lips. âDistract me, baby.â
You laugh but he dips his head down to nips at your collar bone and it turns into a moan. Eddieâs hand starts rubbing blindly at your slit through your panties and you find your hips moving against his fingers of their own accord.
âDo horror movies turn you on?â Eddie teases. You bite your lip and shake your head, looking him dead in the eye.
âNo, you turn me on, Eddie Munson.â
Suddenly youâre being pushed back down against the couch. The abruptness of his manhandling has you squealing and you lock your arms around his neck, being sure to keep him close and bringing him down with you.
His kiss arrests your lips again, his tongue invading your mouth. Itâs everything you ever wanted. Itâs what youâd imagined each time youâd watched him from the other side of a party or listened to him joking around with your mutual friends.
All of his attention. All of his focus on you.
What you donât realize is that itâs always been on you. At those parties and those hang outs, as much as youâd watched him, heâd been watching you. Learned to love your smile and how quick you were to laugh. Catalogued your stories in the back of his mind as you told them to a riveted audience of all the teens.
Heâs finally getting to touch you the way heâs always wanted. And itâs working him up faster than heâd like to admit.
You shift on the couch and it gives him more room to slot his body between your opened thighs. When his hard, denim-covered bulge presses against your thigh, your hips buck, pushing up into the palm which has been applying pressure to your pussy.
âRemember that agenda?â You ask with a tremor in your voice. His hand slips under the elastic of your panties, fingers making direct contacted with your slick core for the first time. You both groan.
âUmâŚyeah.â He says, shaking his head as if to clear it in order to comprehend your words. The tip of a finger circles your clit before sliding down to push into your hole. You gasp. âYour to-do list.â
âYouâre at the top,â you gasp out.
Thereâs a moment where a Eddie doesnât react. Heâs so focused on pumping his finger in and out of your tight pussy, feeling you around him. Watching your chest rise and fall. But when your words make sense he throws back his head and letâs out a bellowing laugh. His laugh makes you laugh and then youâre shaking in one anotherâs arms. Trying to calm down. The shared vibrations of your joint hysteria seeming to wreak havoc on all of your nerve endings.
Eddie lunges forward and begins sucking at your neck and the tops of your breasts exposed by your low neckline. Just as he adds another finger to your pussy.
âI can be efficient, too, you know,â he says before worrying your skin between his lips.
âOh yeah?â
âYeah.â
âCan you be efficient with your shirt off?â You ask, fingers scrabbling at the hem of the garment. Eddie sits up quickly and yanks the shirt off with unnecessary, theatrical aggression, tossing it away as if itâs offended him. You reach out and trace the tattoos on his chest and he moves to lower himself back over you.
âMmm, cool guy,â you hum, your fingers passing delicately over his inked skin. Eddie quickly unbuttons your blouse and pulls it open, gazing hungry down at your bra-clad breasts.
âHot girl,â he responds, pressing his face juvenilely between your tits. You grasp at the hair at the back of his neck and laugh until you feel him beginning to suck on you. Then your hips are rolling into his hand. The hand thatâs started to fuck you in earnest. âYou look like youâre more distracted than me right now, sweetheart. Maybe youâll be dying before me after all. That petite mort, huh?â
Youâre laughing and gasping all at once. His French accent is atrocious but heâs referencing a conversation youâd had with him and Robin about orgasms the week prior. You hadnât thought heâd been paying attention since heâd been half in argument with Steve at the time, but now you know otherwise.
âYou weâre listening to that? Was - fuck - pretty sure you were focused on whatever Harrington was saying.â
âIâm always focused on you, sweetheart.â
You feel heat creeping through your body as fondness mixes with arousal. Youâre impatient and you both push and pull at him all at once.
âOk I just need you to fuck me, ok? Can we jump to that?â
âNuh uh, Iâm making you cum first.â His thumb presses harder circles into your clit and you cry out. But you shake your head dramatically side to side.
âNo I want you inside me now.â
âThatâs a bit pushy of you, isnât it?â Eddie teases, but as he does so he eases his fingers out of you and brings them up to lick off your slick. Youâre already unbuckling his belt and pushing down his jeans.
âNo, Iâm efficient. Type A, remember?â His cock springs free of his boxers and youâre ready to drool. Heâs practically edible, and if you werenât so fucking on the edge right now youâd swallow him while immediately.
âHow could I forget,â he responds, voice full of gravel as he grabs his cock and pumps one twice. You lay back against the couch, legs splayed and waiting for him, divesting yourself of your bra and cupping your breasts to keep yourself worked up. âFuck youâre a pretty picture.â
âGonna just stare or are you gonna do something, Munson?â
âSee? Pushy,â he says, even as he lowers himself on top of you and pushes his tip right into your entrance.
The teasing stops as you both come together with rolling hips and gasping breaths. His thrusts are hard and definitive and you find yourself holding on for dear life. He feels so good and right and heavy and strong and youâre so close so soon.
âEddieâŚJesus Christ IâmâŚâ your eyes are squeezed shut and he kisses your eye lids, paradoxically sweet when juxtaposed with the harsh way heâs pounding into you.
âYou gonna cum, baby?â He asks, and thereâs playful mocking in his tone. If you couldnât feel his muscles shaking, proving he is equally close, you would have felt more shame.
âY-yeahâŚgonna cum.â You admit it on a whine. He feels so good and then suddenly his finger is between you, swirling over your clit again.
âAlready? I guess thatâs efficient of you,â he says and you clench hard when you laugh, making him let out a loud moan.
âStop - fuck! You canât clench like that,â he admonishes.
âStop making me laugh then, asshole,â you say with no bite. He, however, bites your neck and laves his tongue over the skin.
âMmmm, youâre sexy when youâre mean.â
Youâre not sure what does it - his thrusts, his finger on your clit, his teasing - but one moment youâre rolling your hips into his and the next youâre writhing beneath him, cumming harder than you ever have before. You practically black out calling his name, so much so that you donât even notice when he cums along right after you.
You come back to your senses to find him still inside you, trailing kisses up and down your throat and chest. You take a deep shuddering breath and grip weakly at his back.
âYou gotta get up,â you say, pushing weakly at him with not intent behind the motion. Eddie shakes his head and buries it into your neck.
âNever.â
âI gotta get up and cross you off my checklist.â You tease with a breathless laugh which he returns.
âYou canât. We were so distracted the killer got us. Weâre dead, remember?â His grin is so wide one of your trembling hands lifts automatically to trace his dimples.
âFuck. The downside to being cool and hot is pretty disproportionate to the upside.â
âSpeak for yourself,â he snorts, letting his hand come up to cup your jaw. âIâm staring at a pretty big upside.â
pairing ~ loki x gn!reader
word count ~ 1k
prompt ~ #13: asking for hugs and kisses from you out of the blue
warnings ~ pre-dating fluff, touch starved loki(??), minor awkwardness, mutual pining.
You could never quite put your finger on why you found Loki of all people so glued to your side, not that you minded, but for someone so characteristically distant and cold towards others, it was a bit of a shock to say the least.
You remembered the first day you had met him, the rest of the team had briefed you on the god before he came in, as if you hadn't been watching the news when all that happened, and you couldn't help the small, chilling shiver that ran up your spine when he finally walked through the conference room door.
There was an air of self assured confidence when he entered, a slight sneer on his face as he quickly scanned the room.
You assumed that someone like him would stand at the back of the room as opposed to sitting with everyone else. Even if no one had told you, you would've assumed he was royalty just from the way he towered above everyone else.
His eyes widened slightly and you hurriedly turned your gaze, mindlessly tapping a pencil on the table as if you hadn't been openly ogling the man just seconds ago. Your heartbeat quickened, watching his shadow from the corner of your eye as he sauntered around the large table, thoughtlessly passing the other members of the team in their chairs,. Just when you thought he would pause, when he would settle himself in the distant, dreary corner, he continued.
It was then when you realized the empty chair to the left of you.
You had to actively stop the anxious whimper that threatened to escape your lips as the chair beside you was pulled from under the table.
"May I?" His smooth voice had you turning embarrassingly fast in your chair to face him.
"Of course" You smiled, before quickly turning back to face the front of the room.
You heard the quiet hum of satisfaction that rumbled through him as he adjusted himself in his seat.
You weren't afraid of him, not even after all the dramatic prank horror stories Thor always managed to bring up at every gathering. Not even after you had seen him lurking in the shadows at every party, meticulously examining the crowd as if he were some sort of vampire looking for his next victim. Not even after all the videos Tony would show you of New York, warning you to be careful around him.
You weren't scared, though your heart still thundered in your ears regardless, and you prayed he didn't have some super-godlike-hearing that Thor negated to tell you about.
Just as Steve was about to begin the meeting, your breath hitched in your throat at the hushed, but still recognizable sound of a chair scooting across the floor beside you reached your ears.
Your eyes flickered to look beside you, and sure enough, he was there.
It was barely noticeable really, and you probably wouldn't have noticed it if you hadn't heard the quiet shuffle of his chair.
You saw how his face still remained that, solid, focused expression like nothing had happened at all.
Maybe nothing did happen.
The room felt a little warmer though.
It seemed like forever had passed since that moment, and though his surprising touchiness had gotten bolder and more apparent, it still never failed to catch you off guard.
The first time he asked you, the world's temperature seemed to spike in seconds.
He had just returned from a mission, and you could tell his exhaustion by how he trudged over to you, his shoulders slumping as he collapsed onto the couch beside you.
His arms and legs were draped over the side of the couch, his head only inches from your lap.
"Welcome back." You cheerfully whispered in the darkness, it was much too late for you to speak any louder.
He grumbled something unintelligible into the fabric of the couch in response.
"Rough time?"
Loki finally, begrudgingly pulled his head up to finally look at you. "Very."
You hummed at his answer, continuing to flip carelessly through your book.
You could feel his eyes still glued to you, and the sensation made you squirm as you placed your book on the side table.
He had a tendency to stare sometimes, not unlike some of the others that lived in the tower, but this time it felt different, more pointed, as he studied you.
"Could I-" He sighed, "May I hug... You?"
His voice sounded small and almost fearful as he spoke, you weren't sure if you had ever heard him like this.
Being completely honest with yourself, you wouldn't have minded if he just fell onto your lap in the first place, but there was something undeniably charming about his shyness over the question.
"Yeah-" You answered, much too quickly for your own liking as you cleared your throat, "Sure." You finally sputtered.
He pushed himself from his original position, now sitting up beside you. "Are you certain?" He asked, turning to you, "If you aren't comforta-"
"Loki, I'm sure." You interrupted, smiling.
You looked at his face, his darkened under eyes told you everything you needed to know.
He needed this.
He swallowed, and you watched as he slowly reached his hands out to touch you, hesitating for a second.
You saw how his eyes lingered on his hands for a moment, before they flickered up to you, silently asking for your permission to touch you.
Your heart broke for him, how long had it been since someone had allowed him the comfort of touch?
"I'm sure." You repeated, nodding softly.
He slowly reached for you, languidly leaning into you as he snaked his arms around you.
His head rested on your shoulder when his arms finally settled around your torso. You expected some sort of nervous energy to stop you from giving into the embrace, but despite the fact you two had never hugged before, something about his arms around you felt right, like this moment was just waiting to happen ever since your first meeting.
In the silence, if you listened closely enough, you swore you could hear his heartbeat.
And it was just as fast as yours.
i am sending every single loki hug your way my dear!! literally every single one. no take backs. i hope you enjoyed this one mwauh all my hugs to you always!!
This year really is throwback year for me. Been watching a lot of my old shows and revisiting old fandoms. It's cool to know that some are still active, Storm Hawks woo, sad to see others are dead ;~; but I've honestly been really enjoying myself.
Of the ones I rewatched I'm gonna make a top ten tier list of the ones that held up how I remember and ones that didnt.
10. Golden Compass
Specifically the movie that I was obsessed with as a child. Honestly it still held up and I feel like I actually understood way more then when I did as a child. I just put it as number 10 cause although I did enjoy the experience it didn't really spark anything new. Good movie though! I bought the new series to compare.
The greatest draw for the Golden Compass was always the world building to me. I remember as a child imagining myself with my own Daemon. We need more Golden Compass AUs.
9. Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness
Ironically I revisited this game before Jaiden haha. I secured a Gamecube controller around January and brought ye old gamecube out of storage for a binge. Honestly a played a bunch of games besides this one, X-Men Legends, Finding Nemo, etc. But this one stood out the most.
It was honestly a lot of fun. I love the world of Orre and although I think Paldea is now my favorite Orre remains the second and is strongly there. This region was so fascinating and there has yet to be a team to top Cipher in my eyes. These guys were generally threatening to me. The characters were eh though and it was really the world building and story that kept me going.
I know it's never going to happen but gah I wish we could get a remaster or even better a new game in this region.
8. Kim Possible
This was the summer binge and I watched all movies and series. Yes even the live action recent one. All in all it was pretty enjoyable. Kim is badass, Ron is adorable and Shego is đŽ. It was amusing to remember what I could and couldn't remember. Although I put it lower then the others for one reason.
As a child I absolutely loved the Kim/Ron pairing but rewatching it now... I actually didn't care for it as much. Kim was always pushing Ron aside, wouldn't hang out with him in school cause of her reputation. It honestly painted her in a light that hurt. Still an amazing story with great characters. My favorite episode definitely being the one where Drakken raps. Just wish
7. Wizards of Waverly Place
I was obsessed with this show as a child. Although ironically I remember not liking Alex at all. Also ironically I still hold that sentiment. Just not as strongly. Alex was great and the series(and movie) were fun. Again the draw was the world but I'm still mad that only one person could technically be a wizard. Such a lame world but that's the world they live in.
Good magical shenanigans and honestly not too goofy with the visual effects. I remembered more of a story so was surprised when this really didn't seem to have one till later. Regardless still enjoyed myself. Also side note but her parents are goals. Think as an adult they are my favorite characters.
6. X-Men(90s Cartoon)
Does a mall rat eat chili fries. Although this one got number 6 I will say this show is so dated. You can definitely tell it was the 90s but I actually kind of like it for that reason. Its over the top but surprisingly mature. With the first episode starting with Morph dying then the team mourning afterwards.
I was honestly surprised by what they did show in it. I know it was based on the comics(which I also own and am a huge fan of). But for a kids adaptation of it they didn't change much. Honestly I wish I would place this one higher just simply due to the themes and the impact of the stories. Only reason I'm not is cause obviously the show is borrowing from the cartoons.
But yeah, if you were thinking of watching it. I highly recommend it. It is very 90s but still very mature and probally the best experience I had rewatching as an adult. Show had me crying on more then one occasion. Let yourself get immersed in the world and I'm sure you will enjoy yourself as well.
5. Bakugan
I admit I should probally put this a bit lower. Cause I watched the second and third season and was utterly neutral on them. However... the first season was as I remembered and this was one of my childhood top ten favorites so... of course its gonna make the top five.
Great Pokemon knock off with characters I still love. Honestly Dan was the weakest character for me but he still was great. I love the main group and the creature designs. Preyes, my favorite as a child, was more annoying then I remembered but was still wonderful. Never skipped the opening once haha.
All in all it was pretty solid and unlike a lot of the other shows on here. It actually hopped into the plot by the first episode. There was not a lot of fillers. Just wish the series after it didn't just throw it all away.
4. My Babysitters A Vampire
I'm actually surprised I'm rating this here cause in a way the others are probally better but... I loved every one of the characters, the world is very bare bones but what we do have is extremely intriguing. Most of the show I was honestly just trying to learn more about the world. It was fascinating and opened up a lot of questions.
The queer subtext was also amazing. I swear not one of these characters are straight. As someone who likes plot usually this series did not get into it until way later. Being more of a monster of the week type show. The monsters were fun though and contributed to the world, and again the characters are great, which is why I think I was lenient.
Might actually do a fic related to this one down the line. Mostly to dump my own headcanons down and cause I looked and there was not a fic with what I was looking for.
3. Teen Titans
By no surprise to anyone... yes this was amazing to start to finish. I was going in with high expectations and it delivered. As someone who also reads the comics honestly this rendition of them is still my favorite to date. Beast Boy is still my favorite but have to say on rewatch Cyborg is equal or maybe even overpassed him.
The show was just great. Honestly not much more needed to be said here. It was how I remembered and great still. In terms of just quality this is actually number 1. It was only surpassed by the other 2 cause honestly it's perfect. I watched it and left satisfied but with no need to hop into the fandom or even read fanfics for it. It gave me what I needed and then I moved on.
2. Ben 10
I have to admit watching the first series that everyone completely hypes up. I was disappointed. Ben was annoying, Gwen was stuck up and honestly at first it was not living up to how I remembered. Then I moved onto Alien Force and the next ones. And that... was where the fond memories of waking up every Saturday to watch Ben 10 came from.
Kevin joining them and becoming a good guy. Fire. I always enjoy redemption arcs and he was honestly amazing. Gwen was honestly a bamf and her pink magic, amazing. Ben was genuine and honestly probably my favorite protagonist as someone who has a problem of usually tossing away the main character in favor of sides.
And of course, omg the aliens. I lovvvveee them so much. Their designs, seeing native versions of them. The creature design of this series is phenomenal and the action scenes honestly hold up even now. Honestly I think there is a reason Ben 10 keeps coming back. The world that he is apart of is amazing. I'd love like an adult CW cartoon just called: "The Plumbers" or something. Just to stay engrossed in this world.
I did watch a bit of the new series but admittedly wasn't as big of a fan of it. It was okay but I enjoyed the more mature themes of the 'teen' versions of them.
1. Storm Hawks
Atmos. A world of a thousand mountain top kingdoms.
And full of some of the coolest world building based on barely anything I had seen in awhile. This show immediately got me rehooked to Atmos the minute I started. The Sky Bikes were amazing to watch, the various other races in the world really added as well. Also I genuinely liked pretty well every character seen. Especially the main cast. They all... got along, it felt very organic and fun.
Honestly this one hurt the most to rewatch and get to that cliffhanger ending. The show wasn't that long but Ah I wish it was more. I would want a return to the world of Atmos. Whether with the Storm Hawks or someone else. I've even started to write some fanfic for it just to get the excitement out that I had for retouching on this fandom.
This is so far I have a list of others that I'm going to be checking out. And hey if anyone has any other recommendations I'd be down. Most of these I watched just cause I randomally got sparked or reminded of the fandom.
My next 5 on the list though are:
1. Atomic Betty
I remember this one fondly so I hope it was as good as I remember. It's just a matter of finding it.
2. Martin Mystery
I remember this show was super scary when I was younger. Doubt itll 'scare' me now but I'm still excited to watch.
3. Class of the Titans
I only remember an episode that had a vampire in it and that's about it. Really excited to see this one. And also see that episode apparently with the vampire.
4. Secret Saturdays
Monster fighting family with a sasquatch. Yeah I'm down. This one will be interesting though cause although I know I watched it. I know I wasn't that into it as a child. Still I want to see it again.
5. Transformers Animated
I saw an image of Prowl and it reminded me of this one. I never saw it on actual tv but I remember renting the series at the video store as a child and binging them. I'm real excited to watch this one again honestly. I might start with it as Transformers has always been great.
Miya Osamu || Little Delights | First Meeting
SUMMARY. Osamu can't help but be intrigued when his daughter starts bringing home delicious desserts prepared by her best friend's mother.
PAIRING. You x Miya Osamu
GENRE. Fluff <3
WARNINGS. Suggestive content
Haikyuu! Anthology Series | It's Fate When Your Kids Are Friends
OSAMU | First Meeting > Second Date > Third Time's The Charm > Four Is Our Family
Osamu's made it just in time, right as the bell tolls to signal the end of his daughter's second day in her new school year. Standing back as a swarm of kids rush out of the brick building and into the arms of their waiting parents, he takes a moment to breathe and relax. Juggling his burgeoning restaurant with being a single parent isn't an easy job, but he wouldn't trade it for anything.
He stands taller than many of the other adults around him and it's evident his little girl has no problem seeking him out as a black, red, and grey blur races towards him, a thrilled, "Papa!" reaching his ears and splitting his mouth into a wide, happy grin.
His arms are already open in a silent but enthusiastic response as he crouches down and then the bite-sized impact of his daughter is rocking him back on his heels, his reaction overly exaggerated as he pretends to almost fall over from the small force of nature that's all Miya Izumi.
Standing back up, Samu catches sight of another little girl who was trailing behind, wide eyes studying him before shifting to Zumi, his daughter turning back around to wave at her, proclaiming the girl as her 'bestest friend in the whole wide world'. The girl returns Zumi's enthusiastic wave with a quick raise of her small hand before her attention is caught by a pretty young woman, her own wide smile replacing her previously hesitant expression as she's warmly enveloped into welcoming arms with kisses peppered on her cheeks and forehead.
Her delighted giggles reach Osamu and his daughter as they turn around, hand in hand, to walk back to his car, small interaction soon forgotten as his little munchkin lists off the snacks she's looking forward to having on their return to his shop. She won't be able to finish half that list, he bets to himself with a quiet chuckle at his daughter's inherited exuberance for food as he securely buckles her into car.
It's not until they reach his second pride and joy, Onigiri Miya, that he finds the first little surprise tucked away in Izumi's not so empty lunchbox. When he inquires about the remarkably delicious looking set of biscuits he certainly didn't pack for her that morning, his daughter's response is that it's a thank you gift from her bestest friend, Reina, for the lunch she'd shared with the girl on her first day.
Well, a six year old certainly didn't bake these from the looks of it. It's only confirmed by his first taste, the texture and flavour beyond even most consistent home bakers, let alone a young child. Right? But a more pressing thought flags his attention, first.
"Did your friend not have her own lunch?"
"She did! We split because hers wasn't so good, even though her mama put so much love into it. But the treats were so much better so we decided to go halfsies and have best of both!" His daughter giggles with the oblivious sweet innocence of a child.
"And what about today?"
"Mhm. Same. But I liked the chocolate brownies yesterday much much better!"
Samu chuckles at her excitement and can't help but tease his precocious daughter, "Oh, and was it better than papa's food?"
Zumi's eyes widen as she contemplates the question with all the adorable seriousness she can muster, but loyalty must break free and run because her reply is, "Almost! So close, but I love papa's cooking more than anything in the whole wide world."
It seems the whole wide world is the current standard of measurement for first graders, but he appreciates the heartfelt sentiment behind her loving words.
After another moment of consideration, Osamu settles on the thought chewing at him and decides that tomorrow his daughter won't be giving up a portion of his food which she loves so much. No, she'll have double the amount to do with whatever she may please.
So briefly, that he doesn't even ponder on the sudden image, he's reminded of the warm reunion he witnessed between the little girl and the woman who he'd assumed was her nanny, but concludes is probably the girl's young mother. Based on the number of treats Zumi brought back, Samu's certain the woman had to have thoughtfully made extras of these baked goods for her daughter to have more than enough to share with friends and then some.
Well, it's definitely no skin off his back to make his daughter even the slightest bit happier by being able to help her share her savoury little delights with her new bestest friend.
It's on the third day of your daughter's return from her new school year that you're able to confirm that something is indeed amiss. The previous two days, the small portions of her lunch left uneaten were questionable, given her voracious appetite, however, when she returns with the lunch you made for her today still sitting wholly untouched in her cute little lunchbox, you finally sit her down to ask about it.
Her response is far from what you expected, "My friend's papa made extra lunch so we could both have something yummy to eat!"
You press your lips together to hide your amusement as you teasingly inquire, "Oh? Is that so? And I guess that means mama's food isn't so yummy after all."
Her eyes widen in dismay and mouth opens in an immediate denial that you know would be a lie to soothe your feelings. Even at such a young age, your beautiful baby girl is truly a kind and compassionate soul, she would dutifully eat anything you prepared no matter how lacking the meal might be and never utter a word to tell you the obvious truth.
Before she can manage to find the right words to faithfully express how much she loves your cooking, you lean in to kiss her on the forehead and pull back with a laugh, gathering her in your arms for a warm hug. "Oh baby, I'm so sorry I can't make you the food you deserve. But please don't ever feel the need to say otherwise to spare my feeling, okay? You should always be honest about what you like or don't like."
Her little arms find their way around you as she snuggles in, voice soft and words like a wise, old soul when she denies, "But your food is made with so much love mama. Zumi says some people are just better at other things. We both think you make the best yummies."
"The best yummies, hm?" You think about the various baked goods you add in to balance out for the healthy but tasteless lunches you're able to prepare.
They are indeed good, but baking has always been something that comes more naturally to you than cooking. An interesting distinction not many people might accept, but for you the former has always been an effortless science whereas the latter is more of a difficult art.
"Well I'm really glad you like those, but we do need to figure out what to do so you're not picking at your friends' food or going hungry."
She pulls back to send a serious look your way, exclaiming, "But I'm not picking at it, I promise. Zumi said her papa made extra just for me!"
You take a moment to consider her words. She made a similar implication in her earlier statement, that her friend's dad had made extra for them both. What does that mean? Did his daughter ask him to because she was sharing her food with Reina? Or did he somehow grasp the situation and is simply being generous?
A warm burn threatens your cheeks as you consider the awkwardness of accepting such a gesture from a complete stranger. While you appreciate the kindness of Reina's friend and her dad, it still somehow feels like a terrible imposition, as if you've burdened them somehow with your lack of skills to keep your child happily fed.
It's not like you can't cook good, healthy food. You're just painfully aware how bland the food you make can be, unless you spend three times the amount of time as anyone else would need to in order to prepare similar meals. But... studying the smile that's on your daughter's face, you can't help the twinge in your heart that reminds you how much more her happiness is worth than your pride.
You won't assume this will be a daily occurrence and you'll continue to make your daughters lunches so she never goes without, however, it'll be no extra trouble for you to make double the batch of baked goods than usual. After all, you usually account for the fact that she'll be sharing with friends and classmates anyways.
However, you're now determined there will be enough delicious snacks for Reina to share not only around at school, but also some treats for her sweet friend Izumi to take home for her generous parents. Perhaps, you think, it might be prudent to include a short message, thanking the man for his thoughtful effort.
Silent gratitude isn't very much to anyone ~ (So I hope you and your family will accept these.) Thank you for your kindness, Miya-san.
Osamu blinks, unaware of the small smile that curves his lips as he reads the delicate, handwritten note carefully wrapped around one of the cupcakes Izumi brought back home today. There are only three of the original twelve left, apparently, but the one he's just bitten into is as incredible as expected.
If he's correct in his assumption from the note addressed directly to him and included with today's delightful treats, then the little girl's mother has picked up on his small action and is returning the gesture to convey her thanks. The thought is confirmed by his daughter explaining that one of each of the three cupcakes is for their family.
Three for their family? Hm. Well, it's just him and Zumi, but he's sure his brother will be all over the remaining offering when he visits tonight. If there's any left for him that is. Probably won't be, it's really just that good and anyways, he doesn't need Atsumu nosing his way into this simple exchange as it is.
The following day, Friday morning, Samu pens back his own note, assuring the woman that no thanks is necessary. There's no reason for her to express her gratitude over what's really such a simple action for him.
That evening, he and Zumi enjoy some quality mochi delivered in a white, rectangular box with a pretty decently hand-drawn background scene at a spring festival on the cover. Two little girls, one that looks remarkably like his daughter and the other like her best friend, hold hands in the centre of the street dressed in traditional yukata and sharing a box of what he assumes is mochi.
As they much into the chewy treats, he watches and listens as his daughter points out the bright colours she and her friend chose to fill into what was apparently initially a blank canvas for them to colour on. Her delight at having a pink and grey yukata, even if only in a drawing, prompting him to make a mental note about looking into the clothing and any upcoming festivals.
Osamu makes a point of saving the box, childlike scribbles over the simple sketch leaving a warm feeling in his chest and a slightly wider smile gracing his mouth.
The response he receives the Monday evening (from his penned message the Friday before) is enough to prompt a full smirk that, this time, doesn't go unnoticed by him. The woman showed an interesting sense of humour and gracious acceptance with the first cupcake note. Then, a sweet and thoughtful disposition with the drawing included as part of the soft treat for the girls Friday.
But now, Samu sees a challenging firmness in her reply to his easy brush off of her thanks, delicate lines yet again adorning the small card carefully tucked into a pretty red ribbon that's tied around and decorating another white, rectangular box.
Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it ~ So please accept this gift without concern.
Sitting inside are four differently coloured, rounded treats that look familiar but he can't place off the top of his head. A quick search identifies the delicate confections as macarons, the colorful delights an absolute wonder as the airy crunch of the top and bottom shells simultaneously give way to a firm filling with the first bite, the sweet flavour almost dissolving on his tongue.
He and Zumi finish the box off in minutes, three of each flavour included to a total of four different flavours, so both he and his daughter each get seconds of their respective favourites.
The next morning, filled with anticipation at what new surprises you might include with the goods you send today, he's fully aware of the grin that stretches his face as he writes out a note of his own for you to receive later this evening.
The macarons were inspiring. Izumi and I definitely won't turn away any gifts you'd like to send our way. I wonder... what other surprises do you have up your sleeve? I sent a little something your way to inspire you too. - M. Osamu
The neatly written note returned, once again, on the back of the small rectangular card you'd last sent, brings a warm smile to your face. The various onigiri that came along with it, apparently with specific instructions communicated from Izumi to Reina that today's additional quantity is set aside for you specifically, stretches the amused curl of your lips into a delighted grin.
You split each of the four different types of rice balls with your daughter, listening to her input on the delicious food as she points out her order of most to least favourite. Although there's not a single one you wouldn't eat on any given day if given the choice, the food is simply divine.
Your note the following day is a compliment to the chef, with a cheeky inquiry as to what deities one must pray to in order to make food like that. His response is a swift rebuttal asking what cruel gods bless some with the skills to cook but others with the skills to bake, ironically echoing your own thoughts from the previous week.
So goes the back and forth for weeks, notes getting cuter, sassier, and more personal as jokes, challenges, and encouragements alike are enclosed among the lunches of two excited little girls, their own bond strengthening with this unique camaraderie between their parents, until you feel the peculiar sense that you know the man on the other end, without ever even having actually met him.
Then, one day, three weeks into the first exchange, you receive a note that makes your heart beat in your throat at the unspoken challenge which raises the stakes of the now familiar routine. It's a simple response to your unassuming request for the onigiri recipes you initially received as the first returned delight, a meal you and Reina have been craving since the first taste.
I can do one better and teach you. xxx-xxx-xxxx. - Osamu
There's no reason to be shy or hesitant, is there? After all, it's a kind offer that will only serve you and Reina well with your future attempts at her lunches. You can't count on Miya Osamu's kindness forever.
Fingers still shaking, you dial the number enclosed within and find the call picked up before the first ring even finishes.
"I wasn't sure ya'd actually call."
Oh, wow, that's a voice to melt hearts alright. You're still smiling as you immediately reply in beat, with the easy familiarity of your shared repartee over the last few weeks, "With an offer like that, how could I not?"
He's quiet for a second and you start to lose your smile, suddenly worrying that perhaps you've acted too familiarly with a man that's all but a stranger and offended him. But his next words, slowly expelled in a lazy but thoughtful drawl, have your heart beating fast for an entirely different reason, "I had a feeling ya'd sound as pretty as ya write."
Now you're the one that's silent but it's entirely because you're at a loss for words, this quietly charming man having stolen them right from the tip of your tongue.
A low chuckle breaks what you realized was actually somehow still a remarkably comfortable silence and then his delicious voice reaches you again, "I hope I didn't scare ya voice away. It'd be a shame now that I've only just heard it."
Okay so he's maybe much more of a flirt than the subtle hints you'd noticed over the notes, but then again, they were delivered through your daughters as messengers so it would be reasonable he would have toned it down. Then again, what kind of man flirts with a woman he's never met previously? He doesn't even know what you look like. Have you captured his interest solely through your mutual correspondence?
You almost snort, catching your thoughts and feeling like you're the main character to some historical romance. Maybe during a world war era. Mutual correspondence. Right. What are you even thinking? He's got you flustered already.
"Funny. I would never have imagined you would sound so pretty from the way you write." You're tempted to arch an eyebrow with your audible smirk but then you remember that it's not like he can see it.
"Ya think my voice is pretty, do ya?" His tone is full with soft satisfaction, "Maybe ya can tell me if it's better in person."
"And here I thought the offer on the table was for learning a delicious recipe."
You swear you hear the smile in his response, "Sounds like yer in either way."
"Sounds like I am." You concede in mock resignation but you're painfully aware that your words and following sigh sound more like a promise.
You and Reina find the charming storefront quite easily from Samu's instructions. It's finally the weekend, several days since your first call with him, and your handwritten notes have now upgraded into convenient, daily text messages.
He's definitely confident and teasing but not quite the overt flirt you briefly considered he might be from a few days ago. In fact, he's more calm and grounded, even if he can be a smooth talker, but you've quickly found that what came across as flirtatious was actually just him being honestly direct. Which is both exciting and flattering enough to make you nervous for this first real meeting today.
A soft chime sounds as you open the door to usher Reina through before following her in yourself. The first thing your eyes land on is a small girl running to your daughter like a heat seeking missile and the two collide in an adorably sweet hug, somehow understanding each other while seemingly talking simultaneously.
With a small smile on your face, you take a moment to survey your surroundings and find your bearings in this unfamiliar space. It's not an overly large area, focusing more on a cozy, comfortable atmosphere emphasized by the deliciously welcoming smell of various foods that make you feel right at home.
Your eyes run over the bar with stools lined against it before you do a double take, finally noticing the dark haired man that's leaning with his arms crossed against a door frame beyond it, watching as you examined his space.
He must be able to tell he's slightly startled you as an amused smile stretches his lips and he dips his head ever so slightly in greeting. "Welcome to Onigiri Miya."
"Thank you for inviting us, Miya-san." You bite your lip at your automatic formality, already certain what he's going to say next.
And he doesn't disappoint, eyebrow arching as he uncrosses his arms and, finally, steadily makes his way towards you, "I already told ya to call me Osamu. Or Samu."
Now you're smiling again because the situation is definitely out of the ordinary, the level of familiarity you feel with a man you're seeing for the first time can only be considered unusual. You take a moment to study him as he stops just before you, tall build with broad shoulders and a handsome face that looks like it belongs on a heartbreaker not a homemaker.
Your fingers itch to push back the locks of his hair peeking out from under his dark cap and falling over on side of his forehead, if only to have an excuse to run your hands through it. But that's definitely not appropriate no matter how comfortable you might already feel with this easygoing man.
"Right... Osamu, then. And of course, you can call me Y/n."
"Yer name and looks suit ya, just like yer voice and handwriting." He's got a small smile on his own face now and you're not sure if he's aware he basically just called you pretty. He doesn't really seem to do this on purpose, from what you've gathered.
You beam at him regardless and volley back, "Well, I can say the same for you too."
And for a brief second, that small smile splits into a quick grin that stutters the already erratic beat of your heart. Oh yes, this man is certifiably lethal in all the best ways.
"I'm happy to hear it. Now, let's sit ya down with the girls while I grab some things."
Izumi has already led Reina to a table by the window and Osamu gestures their way as he moves to lock the door behind where you came in and then moves off to the kitchen behind the bar again.
You notice with a little apprehension that the girls are sitting next to each other on one side of the booth still giddily talking together (although not over each other anymore) about friends and weekend plans and such, but you're not going to be the anxious oddball that separates them for seemingly no reason. Even if you're already sure of the overthinking you'll be doing at the thought of Samu sitting next to you in the booth.
He doesn't seem to think about it at all as he easily slides in, smoothly setting a plate and a tray with cups, glasses and a couple pitchers on the table just as you feel the left side of his body line up against your right. Okay, yeah, because this is totally normal for you. Not.
You hope neither he and especially not either of the kids can tell you're flustered, even as you feel the heat creep up your neck and flirt with your cheeks. Yup, normal day, normal day. Just a regular day with a new friend.
"Here ya go." You just hold yourself back from jumping when he hands you a cup from the tray and then leans over to pour what looks and smells like tea from one of the pitchers. If you're not going crazy, he's pressed even more against you for those long seconds, completely in your space even if it's not unwelcome.
He either knows exactly what he's doing or he's just one of those people that's never paid mind to polite social norms and rules of conduct that many prefer. While you're calming yourself down, he's already poured the girls juice from the second pitcher into their glasses and set out quarter plates in front of everyone.
You finally focus enough to take in the still steaming gyoza on the plate he'd placed down in the middle with confusion and ask, "I thought we would be making onigiri and eating it for lunch?"
"Of course, but I couldn't put ya to work on an empty stomach."
"Mhm." You give him a dubious look, you might have mentioned your early breakfast in one of your texts to him this morning, but you have a feeling that this is also an effort to make you and Reina feel comfortable in this space together instead of getting right into the cooking lessons planned for the day.
It's an incredibly thoughtful effort and that warm flush is threatening you again so you choose to tease him and deflect instead, "Somehow, I feel it's more about your empty stomach but okay, let's go with your version instead."
You lose the fight with the flush and flutters when he chuckles at your sassy retort, especially since you literally feel the vibrations melt from his body and into yours with the way he's still somewhat pressed into you. Does the man not have enough space in his own booth? Actually... you notice you can move closer to the window yourself since there's quite a bit of space on your side too but, then again, it would be a little obvious to shift now.
The girls pick up the fried dumplings by hand with happy exclamations as they bite right into theirs, you and Osamu following suit but not before placing another two on the plates in front of each of them and then splitting the remaining ones between you.
With a dip into the soy and vinegar sauce (chili excluded for the girls), you quickly bite into the first one and savour the sudden burst of flavour in your mouth. Oh wow, yes, this is exactly what your cooking is missing. This addictive, tasteful quality that makes you want multiple helpings of whatever's being served.
With a glance from the corner of your eye to the right, you meet Osamu's eyes studying your reaction and decide to ask the question on your mind, "You made these yourself right?"
"I did."
"Okay, they're hands down the best gyoza I've ever had." You compliment him genuinely before giving in to the urge to  tease him yet again because the flutters are back, if they ever even left, and you can't have him knowing just how much he affects you, "But who ever heard of serving gyoza in an onigiri shop?"
He must catch the light, teasing tone because he just smirks and throws right back, "Well if they're as good as ya say, maybe IÂ should expand the menu."
"Oh no, don't do that!" You laugh with wide eyes, "Then Reina and I will never find space when we try to come back here during regular hours! Actually, I'm sure you're already always packed, hm?"
"Some days and times less than others, but there will always be space for the two of ya whenever ya want to visit again."
Oh yeah, it's a losing battle, the flutters are a full on tsunami of feelings now. Just push it away and chill. But then he adds, "And I can teach ya this recipe too. Anytime there's something ya like or want to try, just let me know. I'm sure we can make an amazing cook outta ya yet."
Your mouth drops open followed by your blurted question, "Why are you helping me so much? I'm sure this is a lot of time and effort for you too."
You hear the girls' conversation pause as they pick up on some subtle change in either your body language or demeanour, but Osamu's calm eyes just meet your wide ones, his lips sliding into a soft smile, as he simply answers, "Because I like ya."
You feel like you're back in grade school because you want to ask if he means that he 'like' likes you or just... likes you. But there's no way you're going to ask that question, not only because it feels a bit asinine but because that's not a conversation to start in front of both of your daughters.
You look over to the girls who are watching with beaming smiles, maybe happy their parents are good friends just like the two of them, and you return their wide grins with a reassuring one of your own before looking back into steady grey eyes. "Well, I really appreciate your help. Thank you, Osamu."
"I'd say no thanks needed, but I've been down that road before." Another quick, heart-stopping grin graces his face, this one almost as roguish as his tone is playful. He's definitely referring to your initial correspondence when you made a firm point against his initial brush off, as if his actions in making extra lunch for your daughter to enjoy wasn't incredibly thoughtful and certainly out of his way.
"Well you certainly catch on quick. Let's just hope I can say the same." Your playful smile turns into a grimace at the thought of how difficult it might be to actually improve your skills. Maybe it's just a question of talent? Maybe you're just never going to be able to reproduce food like him.
But he glances over to catch your frown just in time and reassures, "I know what I'm doing. Soon enough, you will too. Just say you'll keep supplying me and Zumi with yer baking every once in a while when ya don't need us anymore."
You know he's probably joking with the last part but you hadn't planned on stopping. You love to share the goodies you bake with the people in your and Reina's life, it makes the two of you pretty happy so you're sure Izumi and Osamu will be able continue enjoying your baked goods to their heart's content.
"Izumi will definitely get her share of sweets and snacks every day." You send a smile her way when she hears you and bounces excitedly in her seat but then you force yourself to drop it and face Osamu with a challenging look instead, "But you... well, I guess we'll have to wait and if you're as good as you say and maybe then you can get some too."
He places a closed hand to his chest as if he's been struck, the girls laughing at his overdramatic reaction, but his widening smile gives him away. You look at each other for a suspended moment, with shared amusement but also the teasing heat of something else reflected in his achromatic eyes, which makes you certain he picked up on the unintended double entendre in your words.
"Sounds like a promise." Then with an arched eyebrow at the empty plates and cups in front of everyone, Samu asks, "So shall we get started?"
You agree, helping him clean up the table and he takes the opportunity to help you and Reina familiarize yourselves with the kitchen. The rest of the afternoon is spent in an equally easy cadence as he does indeed walk you through the steps of making his recipes, flavours included.
He starts with the simplest option, yaki onigiri, which is just fried rice shaped in a triangle or oval, and then demonstrates how to make and add a few of your and Reina's favourite fillings in to change and enhance the flavour. The girls enjoy making their own mini rice balls alongside the two of you and the time flies until you're all back at the table and having the onigiri you've just made for lunch.
You can't deny there's an improvement already but your little rice balls are still nowhere near the level of skill and flavour of Osamu's, even though he and the girls all assure you that you've done a great job. You accept their compliments with a smile and the determination to keep at it on your own time until you improve even further because Reina deserves better than even this.
By the time you finish eating, the girls are unsurprisingly tired out and choose to stay at the table to watch a Disney movie with Izumi's iPad. You can't help but smile in amusement while watching Osamu grab the thing from behind the bar, tapping away on the clunky looking device which is perfect for Izumi with a thick, pink rubber cover protecting it from grade-schooler level damage.
After the movie's been set up for the two worn out little munchkins, you and Osamu head back into the kitchen for him to show you how to make the gyoza and the next hour slips away with more teasing jokes, increasingly heated looks, and slightly bolder touches.
You can close your eyes and now know the feel of Osamu's hands on yours, demonstrating how to properly fold and pleat the wrappers. You can still feel the heat of his chest brush your back from when he leaned around you to pick up an empty bowl to place in the sink, and you're pondering on what feels like a heated brand on your hip where he lightly curved one hand to shift you over.
You can't deny your attraction to the man, a slow fall that you should have seen coming from the excitement of receiving his words every day until you were eagerly expecting the notes, to this first meeting where he's everything you expected from reading between his lines and even more.
Since the girls are pretty much full, you and Osamu clean off the new batch of gyoza between the both of you - him more than you, which you tease him about again. All the while, you're panicking about this new realization of your feelings, given that you're seriously crushing on a man who might only mean to help as a newfound friend and maybe you're the one reading too much into his interactions.
It's not until you've helped him clean up, collected the girls, and are watching him lock up the shop that you get some semblance of an answer.
"Thank you again Osamu. This was not only very instructive but Reina and I had a great time today."
He's holding Izumi's small hand in his, similar to Reina's in yours, and his other hand stretches up to rub at the back of his head, his arm bent at the elbow. When he speaks, it's not a direct response to your gratitude but a question instead, sounding somewhat unsure himself for the first time today, "How about next time we have a date that's more fun than instructive?"
Your jaw almost drops in surprise but you quickly collect yourself because he's still looking a little worried, maybe because he thinks he's overstepping by calling this a date or maybe because he's not sure you'll want another one even if you do accept that.
Your smile is quick to light up your face and, with a light squeeze from Reina's hand to yours accompanied by her and Izumi's giggles, you happily reply, "Just let me know when and where, and it's a date."
He grins again, the third time today your heart stops at what you're sure is usually a rarer sight since bodies aren't always dropping to the ground around him (that you've heard of). "I think I might already have something in mind."
"Oh yeah?"
"Yeah, but let me look into it and get back to ya."
"Sounds like a promise."
With your final reply, a borrowed echo of his words to serve as a temporary goodbye, you and Reina split away from Izumi and Osamu. Heading for your car with once last look behind you, you're pleasantly unsurprised to find a flash of gunmetal grey also glancing back your way. Later that night, finished with your and Reina's joint skincare routine and having tucked her into bed, you find the expected message waiting for you.
A/N: Okay wow I had SO much fun with this one! I hope you all do too <3 It's not triple edited per usual so please do let me know if you catch any errors or issues. No promises but probably dropping Atsumuâs First Meeting next ;)
