We all know I can’t just buy one palette from a collection …..
Hey guys,
A few posts ago I mentioned that Makeup Revolution have made a Halloween makeup collaboration with Corpse Bride. If you didn’t know I adore Tim Burton movies and this is one of my all time favourites. In the collection I originally bought the smaller palette called The Newly Weds £10 and after loving this palette and I went back to shop a little more from the collection and well I found another eyeshadow palette I liked didn’t I?! I mean are we surprised by now … well we shouldn’t be.
So today we are going to be chatting about the large palette in this collection called Corpse Bride X Makeup Revolution Upstairs Downstairs Eyeshadow Palette £20.00. When I saw this palette originally I wasn't too sure so I stuck with the smaller palette but after trying and loving the formula I decided the bigger palette would be the perfect edition. This palette has 24 shades ranging cool and warm toned mattes and shimmers. I think we can all agree this palettes colour story is perfect if you want a mix of everything.
Like The Newly Weds palette it still has the typical blues, lilac tones inspired by the movies colour story but this time it's like the colour story has been expanded. The packaging of this palette is also unique a first for Revolution. This palette has beautiful artwork from the movie on the front of the palette and it basically has 2 flaps that fold out and open the palette. When you open each flap you can see 2 quotes from the movie on either end. I love this touch and think it really adds to the whole vibe of the palette.
Now out of the two palettes I would say if we're looking at theme of movie to palette I would say The Newly Wed palette £10 is my favourite because it is literally blues, purples, black and shimmers which is just spot on for me. But if you want to have a taste of the movie colour story and yet still have shades you could wear any time of year then this palette would be a better investment for you. The shades in this palette are so pigmented and pretty I think focusing on the colour story itself it could be a few favourite for me.

Makeup for Magick/Ritual p3: Beltane
We made it to Beltane, you guys! We did it! Is this actually going to go up in time without my computer freaking out? Only time will tell. And no, I didn't get a better phone.
.
.
.
I stole my sisters. ANYWAY!!!
It's the last of the three fertility sabbats (along with Imbolc and Ostara). And that's fertility in all its forms, by the way, not just the baby-making kind. You need fertile soil to for just about any kind of plant to grow, after all. The main colors that I, personally, associate with Beltane are bright/summery reds, lush greens, and… white. All colors of fertility, growth, passion, shmex… as you do. However! The entire rainbow spectrum is fair game. Think of all the colorful flowers, plants, and trees and stuff. For instance, just looking out my widow from where I'm typing this, you got the green of the new leaves on the tree, the reddish-orange color of the little helicopter seed fellas hanging from it, and little yellow, almost white, flowers on the bush in the neighbor's yard.
Any of the more nude palettes from Ostara are still in play. And DAMMIT! The picture's cut off at the edges. Because of course it is, why wouldn't it be? *groan* Whatever, let's get into Colourpop.
Top: Strawberry Shake, Main Squeeze, Orange You Glad?, Uh Huh Honey
Middle: Just My Luck, Blue Moon, It's My Pleasure, Oh La La
Bottom: Yes, Please!
If the red/green thing is what you wanna go for, grab the Just My Luck palette and either Strawberry Shake or Main Squeeze and you're good. And of course, as the rainbow spectrum goes, there it is. Hell, if you have the Fade into Hue palette, just grab that. I don't have it because, though the eyeshadow formula is decent for the price, there are pressed glitters in the palette. And unlike the BH eyeshadow formula, I don't think the CP formula is good enough to make up for the handful of arts-and-crafts-herpes shades you have to deal with in this palette.
Yes, Please! is here because Beltane is also a fire festival and this a cute and cheap fiery palette.
On to Give Me Glow!
Top: Summer Vibes, Extra Spicy
Bottom: Vintage Rose,Vivid Rose
Where there is the CP Yes, Please! Palette, there is the Give Me Glow Extra Spicy palette. Unfortunately, she's no longer available, but it's a great pick for this fire festival if you have it.
Kindly excuse the busted pans in my Summer Vibes palette, but a good chunk of these shades could work for Beltane. You can take it fiery or flowery, depending on what you're going for.
And if you want to look like a stereotypical flower fairy (and I mean that in the best possible way), the sister Rose palettes are the palettes to grab.
Now let's get the single-palettes out of the way.
Tarte's Tartelette Toasted palette is another one of those fire festival palettes, except more of a warm toned nude version of one as opposed to the bright fiery colors of Yes, Please! and Extra Spicy.
The Too Faced Life's a Festival palette is just full of great brights and those fun duochromes. Definitely the time to pull it out if you have it.
And then there's the ABH Modern Renaissance palette. This palette will give you serious vintage flower fairy vibes, and was the first time I got said vibe while using a palette. Okay, technically that was when I used the Makeup Revolution dupe palette, but that formula was utter trash.
And as for the ABH sub-brand, Norvina…
We got two. The Pro Pigment Palette Vol. 3, and the Pro Pigment Mini Palette Vol. 3.
The Mini's cherry reds, green and pinks and beautiful, and that white has a cherry red duochrome to it. Ignore the pressed glitter in the middle of the top row, the shades are pretty enough not to.
The larger Vol. 3 has some nice bright greens, reds, etc. that makes it great for the lushness of Beltane, even though it's meant to be a fall palette. Which it's also great for, but we'll get to that in a future post.
Now for BH Cosmetics!
Top: Trendy in Tokyo, Chillin' in Chicago
Bottom: Mimosa
Trendy in Tokyo is the typical rainbow palette, except the shimmers are more satin than metallic, so not my favorite of their Travel palettes.
Chillin' in Chicago would make a pretty good fire festival palette, and lays in between Tartelette Toasted and Extra Spicy/Yes, Please!. It's not as nude as Toasted but not as bright as the two others.
Mimosa's pinks with orange and yellow pops could give you a bright, flowery look.
And now the last of the palettes, Juvia's Place!
Left Column (Top to Bottom): The Masquerade Mini, The Magic Mini
Middle Column (Top to Bottom): The Zulu, The Festival,The Sweet Pinks
Right Column (Top to Bottom): The Warrior III, The Chocolates, The Violets
The Masquerade Mini's top two colorful rows are what you're reaching for if you want to do a fully colorful Beltane look, but can be paired with the bottom nudes if all you want (or can do because work or whatever) is a little pop of color. For The Magic Mini, you're looking at the top two rows, which are the warmer rows, and the purple duochrome (Faso) and the green (Buzo) in the bottom, cooler toned rows.
Both The Zulu and The Warrior III are beautiful colorful palettes. In Warrior III, I'd stick with the top six mattes. That green and red are beautiful, and that pink is almost neon in real life. The entire Zulu palette is good for brighter plant/flower looks. And that pink/gold duochrome in the bottom left corner? So beautiful.
In The Festival palette, I'd say all the shades except the metallic black, the deeper metallic teal, and the matte mustard gold. The red, pink and oranges are so beautiful and rich, guys! And that metallic white and gold? *chef kiss* But, guess what palette is getting pulled out for Samhain. X3!
The Chocolates, Violets and Sweet Pinks are basically companion palettes. The Chocolates have some "rich, fertile soil" vibes if you want to bring that into the look, while The Violets are fairly floral and The Sweet Pinks are more bright pops with a more floral matte and shimmer shade (top right, bottom left). The two pinky floral shades could actually be cute with the Violets, now that I think about it.
And finally, the singles! A few days ago, my first Terra Moons singles order arrived, but since I haven't really got to play with them much they won't be included in this one. Though they, as well as my first order of singles from Looxi beauty, will probably start showing up in my next post. Okay, Shroud singles first!
Top: Enigma, Azura, Vigor, Ignite, Vigil
Bottom: Oracle, Pillow Talk, Scrumptious, Magnetism, Soulstone
Pillow Talk, Scrumptious and Magnetism aren't pressed glitters, but definitely act and remove like they are. So, if you pick these up when Shroud reopens, keep that in mind.
Enigma (purple with a blue shift)
Azura (teal blue with a green shift)
Vigor (bright lemon-lime soda green)
Ignite (fiery copper)
Vigil (yellow-gold)
Oracle (champagne gold)
Pillow Talk (deep purple with a gold shift)
Scrumptious (coral red with a gold shift)
Magnetism (aqua green with a gold shift)
Soulstone (magenta)
And finishing off, Give Me Glow singles!
Column 1
My Sunshine (pale sunny yellow metallic)
Lucky Charm (light yellow metallic)
Lemon Lime (electric green with shifts of banana yellow)
Limeade (lime green)
Column 2
Peach Glaze (pale icy peach)
You're Cheesy (Mac n Cheese orange)
Havana (deep coral metallic)
Low Battery (neutral-toned, medium-dark red)
Column 3
Pink Frosting (icy bubble gum pink)
Heartbreaker (electric hot pink)
West Coast (deep vivid coral)
Floral Coral (peachy-pink coral)
Column 4
Strawberry Lollipop (reddish pink)
Pink Lemonade (pink base with electric gold a baby blue shifts)
Icicle (icy white)
Marshmallow (pure white)
Column 5
Pretty Little Lilac (icy lavender)
Electric Purple (neon pastel purple)
Bubbles (true icy blue)
Sky High (bright sky blue)
Column 6
Toxic (deep neon purple)
Purple Hills (a pure deep electric purple)
Under the Sea (deep sea blue)
Starboy (deep cobalt blue)
And we've reached the end of the Beltane post! Fun fact, the Beltane crossquarter day is on May 4th so, still relevant right? Yes? No? Maybe so? The fact that I was able to get this done by Beltane is a miracle in and of itself. Use these as color story inspiration for your own looks, maybe repost with palettes/singles you've found in your own stash, and I'll see you in the next one!

Hey doll hey!! How are you doing today? Great I hope. I called my Doctor today to get the results of my Covid-19 testing …. was told that the testing centers in Orlando are on backlog for 7 to 10 days!!! So frustrated! That’s potentially 10 more days of quarantine for me. I feel like crap still and couldn’t get out of bed until around 9:30 AM… but just as I was making my morning coffee I got the delivery for my new ColourPop Making Mauves palette and blushes so that perked my spirits up a bit. Well, let’s jump into this scent and Face of the Day ….
Calvin Klein Euphoria. I purchased mine at Sephora for $80 for 1.7 fluid ounces. The scent notes are: Pomegranate, Persimmon, Green Notes, Black Orchid, Lotus Blossom, Champaca Flower, Liquid Amber, Mahogany Wood, Black Violet, Cream Accord, Rose Hips, Japanese Apple, and Red Wood. I think I like this one more than I like the Deep Euphoria scent. It’s a clean crisp scent that is good for everyday wear. This is a causal clothes type of scent. It’s not the longest lasting scent but it does linger for a good while.
Base: I primed my face using Believe Beauty Pretty and Primed Hydrating Primer ($5 at Dollar General). I then used Tarte Clean Slate Timeless Smoothing Primer ($39 at Ulta and Sephora) to fill in the pores on my cheeks and sides of the nose. My foundation today is a combo of 1 squeeze of Pixi by Petra Flawless Beauty Primer Hydrating Glow Primer ($22 at Target and on the Pixi Beauty website) and 3 pumps of Urban Decay Naked Skin One and Done (Discontinued) in the shade Medium Light. I lightly color corrected my under eyes using Pixi by Petra Correction Concentrate ($12 at Target and on the Pixi Beauty website) in the shade Brightening Peach. I used 5 dots for each under eye of ColourPop Pretty Fresh Hyaluronic Concealer ($9 on their website and at Ulta) in the shade Medium 83C. I set my full face using Believe Beauty Matte Blur Loose Powder ($5 at Dollar General) in the shade Translucent and warmed up my face using Benefit Hoola Bronzer ($30 at Ulta). For touch up powder today I am using Flower Beauty Light Illusion Perfecting Powder ($13.99 at Target) in the shade Beige L4-M1.
Eyes: I primed my lids using P.Louise Base ($10 pound sterling/ $12.08 USD on their website… can also be found on the Morphie website for $15) in the shade Rumour 0.5 and today I chose not to set the base because I have noticed a lot of YouTubers do not set this particular base when doing their makeup. For today’s eye look I used the ColourPop Making Mauves Eye shadow Palette ($14 on their website). For my first transition shade I used the color Big Mauves (soft lilac matte). As my second transition shade I used the color Solitaire (soft mauve matte). I used the shade Big Fig (mid-tone dusty lavender matte) to deepen my crease and outer 1/3 of the mobile lid. On the inner 2/3 of my mobile lid I used the shade A La Mode (true mauve with pinpoints of silver and copper pearl ultra metallic). I deepened my outer v with the shade Marquee (muted plum matte) and then went in with the shade Mauve On Top (icy rose metallic) over the middle 1/3 of the mobile lid to blend the inner and outer 1/3 together. For the lower lash line I first went in with the shade Solitaire (soft mauve matte) and then went in with the shade Marquee (muted plum matte) to deepen the lash line. I then buffed the whole under eye out using the shade Tongue Tied (mauve with pinpoints of silver and violet pearl sequin). I lined my lower waterlines using ColourPop BFF Creme Gel Liner ($6 on their website) in the shade HoneyDude (a nude). I set my brows using Maybelline Great Lash Mascara ($6.99 at Ulta but I purchased mine from Amazon) in clear and then filled in my brows using Benefit Precisely My Brow Pencil ($24 at Ulta and Sephora) in the shade 4.5 and then I carved out my brow line using the BH Studio Pro Brow Highlighter ($5 on their website) on the shimmer side and set the brow line using L’Oreal Infallible 24-HR Eye Shadow ($9.99 on their website) in the shade 899 Endless Pearl (a creamy vanilla matte).I popped on a pair of House of Lashes Falsies ($12 on their website) in the style Iconic and coated my upper and lower lashes with L’Oreal Voluminous Carbon Black Mascara ($8.99 at Ulta).
Cheeks and Lips: For blush today I used the ColourPop Pressed Powder Blush ($8 on their website) in the shade Catch My Vibe (pale baby pink matte). I highlighted my Cupid’s Bow, tops of the cheeks, center of the chin, bridge of the nose, and high points of the brows using Benefit Boxed Highlighter ($30 at Ulta and Sephora) in the shade Cookie (a pale yellow champagne with a slight silver reflect). I lined my lips using ColourPop Lippie Pencil ($6 on their website) in the shade Obvi (a light pinkish brown) and filled in the lips using ColourPop Lippie Stix ($7 on their website) in the shade Byron Babe (a deep rose matte).
Final Thoughts: ColourPop Making Mauves Palette: A+++ This palette is just so pretty! Each mauve has a subtle difference between them that lends to a really pretty monochromatic look. These shadows are finely milled and really pigmented. There is some kickback in the pans but zero fallout on the face. Even over a sticky base these shadows blended out beautifully. Each shade buffs into each other seamlessly and without getting patchy or muddy and they did not skip. The only thing I could see making this palette a bit better would be a pale mauve or a pale pink that was a bit more creamy in color for the brow bone… but even without this shade the palette is amazing.
ColourPop Pressed Powder Blush in Catch My Vibe: A+++ This blush is stunning! There was no kickback in the pan. The blush buffs into the skin wonderfully and did not skip or go patchy. It’s worth noting that this matte blush also did not look chalky on the cheeks. Even though there was no shimmer or sheen to the blush there is still a really pretty glow to the skin. I’m glad I purchased both shades in this collection.
Well that’s all for now dolls. Hope you have a great rest of your day/night and that you are in good heath and great spirits. Remember…. Save a spoon for a bit of lipstick.
XOXO
Making Mauves Palette Face of the Day Hey doll hey!! How are you doing today? Great I hope. I called my Doctor today to get the results of my Covid-19 testing ....
