Damn Olivia Cooke does look so much like Natalie Portman, it's unreal. Just popping in to say I hope your day is good and also I was struck with some curiosity and was wondering what songs you associate with Hope (or/and Hope & Poe)? â endlessly curious bc putting music to my ocs and pairings is maybe my favorite part of the process
Hi, thank you for the ask and I hope you're day's good as well! And yesss, I absolutely love putting music to my oc's. It's literally the first thing I do when I start writing a story. I have a whole second spotify account with my playlists for them here. I'm the type who puts like 80 songs in a playlist and I need to cut them down but I've got a couple I listen to on repeat. I have three separate playlists for the story, one for hope, one for her and Poe, and then one for the solo family.
With Hope I've got a lot of Halsey/Marina on there. A couple songs for Hope that I'd play the most would be;
Nightmare - Halsey
Devil in me - Halsey
Seventeen - Marina & the Diamonds
You asked for this - Halsey (heavy on this one)
Who am I living for - Katy Perry
This is me trying - Taylor Swift
The Family Jewels - Marina & the Diamonds
Crossfire - Stephen
Which Witch - Florence and the Machine
Burned - Grace Vanderwaal
Animal - MISSIO
The Tradition - Halsey
Then I've got quite a few for her and Poe as well. With their relationship I'm going to put it through a bit of hell. With the Oddy arc there'll be some mistrust and major fights there when Poe worries that she might be being blackmailed into spying, and then there'll be a tough period between them realising their feelings and actually getting together before she'll be taken captive and brainwashed by the First Order. So there's a mix of really upbeat songs and then downright tragic ones.
The entirety of Taylor Swifts Reputation album but in particular
Call it what you want (heavy on this one)
Getaway Car
Gorgeous
Fransesca - Hozier (this one is definitely their relationship after she's imprisoned and the lengths Poe goes to to get her back)
Drive - Halsey
Maroon - Taylor Swift
Look after you - The Fray
The Reflection - The Neighbourhood
Renegades - X Ambassadors
Starman - David Bowie (I'm making David Bowie exist within SW specifically so they can drunkenly sing this)
Dangerous - David Guetta
Cruel Summer - Taylor Swift
Powerful - Major Lazer
Mirrors - Justin Timberlake
My Tears Ricochet - Taylor Swift
Friends - Chase Atlantic
Fire Meet Gasoline - Sia
The Chain - Fleetwood Mac
Young Gods - Halsey
Out of the woods - Taylor Swift
Flawless - The Neighbourhood
False God - Taylor Swift
Lovers on the sun - David Guetta
Leaving tonight - The Neighbourhod
Train Wreck - James Arthur
Hold on - Chord Overstreet
Just give me a reason - Pink
I'm finishing up the final chapter of the prequel atm before I really get back into the main story, I have a lot written for it but it's editing and getting from point a to b. They're relationship for the next few chapters will be going pretty strong, then there'll be the oddy arc and it's going to be pretty messy for a while but with the two of them the constant thing is that no matter how mad they are with each other they just can't hate each other because they really do accidentally become best friends (who keep accidentally flirting with each other in front of everyone.) It's essentially going to end up a very dramatic slowburn situationship until they blurt out that they're in love mid fight.
I have one scene coming up where her and Poe have a major major blow up after she disobeys orders to save his life in a dogfight since she still feels pretty safe in the assumption that the first order won't kill her whilst everyone else just thinks she's genuinely delusional. Poe's convinced she's actually insane which she kind of is but she wasn't wrong. It's going to be during that spy arc and they both genuinely go a little insane during that fight, so she takes off and goes to lay low with Lando for a while and he gets the whole earful, only for Poe to show up at his door the next day to bring her back and Lando is just in stitches over it. "Hope, there's a handsome resistance commander here to see you" and she's just dumbfounded that he had the guts to come after her (and falls a little in love).
But in the next chapter I'm writing atm they're going to be pretty cute. Poe being her willing assistant as she compiles their intel into a motion for the senate, bringing her caf and gossiping when she catches Snap leaving KarĂŠ's room at like six in the morning and Poe being offended he wasn't the first to know, running to wish her luck as she goes to leave and then bailing her out of jail the next day. When they're a mess they're a mess but when they're cute they're insufferable to everyone around them.
I'd love to see what playlists you have as well <3 because honestly making playlists for oc's is one of my favourite parts of writing!

I used to have a really weird recurring dream. Me & my two sisters were in a car that was driving/rolling down an endless hill. My older sister was driving. She was a) not old enough to drive, b) not actually in control of the car. Dream me was convinced that I should be the one driving, & kept trying to convince my older sister to let me take over. The whole 'discussion' was basically "you can't drive, let me try" "you can't drive, either".
(My little sister was also there, in the backseat, but she was maybe 5-7, & therefore irrelevant to the discussion. She never actually featured in the dream in any way. She never spoke, & I never saw her, but I was nevertheless constantly aware of her presence.)
What makes it weirder (for me, as the dreamer, anyway) is that I've always been a semi-lucid dreamer (I am nearly always aware that I'm dreaming, & can stop things happening if I really try, but don't have a lot of control) so whilst dream-me was fully convinced she could control the out of control car better than my older, bigger (i.e. closer to the right driving proportions) sister, dreaming me was absolutley baffled by the notion, so I'd sort of pinball back & forth between being the arguing me & watching the arguing me in a sort of out of body way.
At the same time, I was also aware that whilst the car was "out of (our) control" it was also driving an an absolutely straight line down a smooth tarmac road on an endless hill, & therefore we were in no actual danger (aside from the fact we were alone, in a car, with no food, & no way to get out or stop it...). Such an odd mix of safe & unsafe. Truly surreal.
To this day I have no idea where it came from (or why it stopped). I have never been stuck in a car. Happen to like big hills. Never had any desire to drive (beyond deciding to learn anyway due to the practical necessity of our car-centic world). Arguing with my sister over who should be in control, I get, since she could be overly controlling, & I also hate feeling out of control, it's just the rest of the package that was weird!
everyone has dreams about being lost at school, late to work, cant find bathroom etc but whats yalls most common Uncommon stress dream. ill always have dreams about having various problems with my fish tank

When His Mum Takes Care Of You When Your Pregnant And Heâs On Tour ~ Got7 Reaction
Mark:
You smiled appreciatively to Markâs mum as she came out to meet you as you pulled up outside the house, rushing to open the boot of your car and take out of the shopping bags so that you didnât have to do it.
By the time you got out of the car, the boot was empty. âI could have carried some, you tried to argue, but she wasnât having it.
âYouâre carrying enough of a load already,â she replied.
âI know Mark told you to take care of me, but he wants me to take care of you too,â you added, walking behind her into the house, âsome of those bags were really heavy to.â
Once your mum had placed all of the bags down, she grabbed onto your hands, âI can carry a few shopping bags, Iâm not that old just yet you know.â
âI know youâre not, but youâve still got to make sure that youâre careful.â
âI am,â she chuckled, appreciating your concern, âbut if something happened to you, I know that Mark would never forgive me for not being there for you right now.â
âI can see where he gets it from,â you commented, âhe thinks that I canât do anything whilst pregnant, like mother like son.â
Her head nodded proudly back at you, âfor the next five months, you wonât be lifting a finger whilst youâve got either me or Mark around and watching over you.â
âYou two are trouble, you know that Iâm absolutely fine.â
Jay B:
Your head shook as Jaebumâs mum loaded up the new pram that the two of you had bought into the back of your car, refusing to let you do anything, despite her struggle to angle it to manage to fit across the boot.
Once it was in, a chuckle came from her at the look on your face. âI still canât believe that you offered to pay for that, itâs expensive.â
âAnd itâs for my grandchild, remember,â she smiled to you.
âYouâd already done enough just driving me to be able to buy a pram,â you tried to tell her, but she refused to listen as she got into the car, âJaebum wonât be happy that you bought it.â
She shot a glare to you as you joined her inside the car, âhe doesnât need to know that I bought it, heâll just say the same as what youâre saying right now.â
âBecause we both agree that youâre already doing far too much for me.â
âI can never do too much,â she corrected, âI wish that I could do more sometimes to help you out, Iâve been through pregnancy Y/N, remember that I know exactly how youâre feeling.â
âI wish Jaebum was here,â you suddenly admitted, taking her by surprise, âit feels like something is missing sometimes.â
Her head nodded understandingly, âmaybe we can try and update him a little more, make him feel like heâs involved even though he is around the world.â
âIâd like that a lot, itâs been so strange not having him here.â
Jackson:
A sigh came from you as your phone rang almost as soon as you closed the door and said goodnight to Jacksonâs mum for the night. Picking up your phone, you werenât surprised to see that it was Jackson calling.
The moment you picked up; you heard his voice. âMum just text me to say that sheâd just left you,â he quickly told you.
âYou Wangs never know leave me alone,â you joked to him.
âShe said that you were doing well,â Jackson responded, ignoring your joke, worrying about you as ever. âBut I thought Iâd ring and just make sure that you were doing well for myself.â
Your eyes rolled as you sat back down on the sofa, âshe arrived at nine in the morning, and left at nine at night, I donât get any time alone Jackson.â
âShe just worries about you; weâre all worrying about you right now Y/N.â
âBut you guys donât need to worry,â you tried your best to tell him, âI get that Iâm a little more dangerous these days, but I can still spend some time by myself and survive.â
âI can give you space when Iâm home,â Jackson chuckled, âwhilst Iâm miles away, thereâs never going to be a moment when Iâm not worrying.â
You laughed in reply, knowing exactly what Jackson was like. âDo you think you could tell your mum that she doesnât need to worry as much about me?â
âI can try, but I promise, she definitely wonât listen.â
Jinyoung:
You handed your front door keys to Jinyoungâs mum, allowing her to open up the door to your home, helping you over the small step. You smiled back at her, holding onto her hand to try and ease the pain.
She kept her hand on your back, supporting you as you walked. âThank you so much for this,â you told her once you were over.
âItâs important that you got checked,â she smiled.
âI know, but you didnât have to stay at the hospital with me, I would have been alright,â you added, taking a seat on the sofa, âI really appreciated having some support though.â
Once the door was shut, she sat down on the sofa beside you. âJinyoung made me promise that Iâd care for you whilst he was gone, Iâve got to stick to it.â
âItâs nice for him to be on tour, I finally get rid of him from my side.â
âHeâs being clingy?â She laughed, knowing her son all too well. âI know that he tends to act as if he doesnât care, but he really does care a lot, especially whilst youâre pregnant.â
âI think itâs done him some good on the road, gives him the chance to think about something else,â you noted, âheâs a mess some days.â
Her arm wrapped around you tightly, âdo you want to tell him about going to the hospital? The doctor said that you were fine, and you know heâll worry.â
âIâll tell him once heâs home, thereâs no need now.â
Youngjae:
As his call was answered, Youngjaeâs eyebrows knitted together in confusion as he heard a different voice. He didnât know what was going on as he recognised the voice of his mum, not expecting to hear her voice.
It took a moment for him to speak as he tried to figure out what was going on. âHow come Y/Nâs voice has suddenly changed?â
âY/Nâs getting a shower,â his mum explained to him.
âThat doesnât explain what youâre doing with Y/Nâs phone,â Youngjae laughed, sitting down on the bed of his hotel room, âI didnât even know that you were at our place today.â
His mum did the same, sitting down on the sofa, âI was driving past so thought Iâd stop in, Y/N wanted to shower with someone around to help.â
âIs she struggling to even shower by herself? Should I come home now?â
âNo,â his mum grinned, refusing to let Youngjae stress, âsheâs been busy cooking so Iâm keeping an eye on the food for her, everything is under control back over here.â
âAre you sure that Y/Nâs alright?â He pushed, desperate to be sure, âdo you think that sheâs depending on you too much.â
His mumâs head shook, âI needed help when I was pregnant, Iâm more than happy to help Y/N, Iâm trying my best to fill the gap that youâve left Youngjae.â
âI really do appreciate all youâre doing for her mum.â
BamBam:
Your smile grew as soon as BamBam picked up the call, feeling normal again as the two of you started talking. Naturally, it didnât take long for him to ask how you were doing with your bump, wishing that he was around.
You chuckled though as soon as he asked the question. âNot an hour has gone by when your mum hasnât rung me so far.â
âIs she ringing you that much?â BamBam laughed.
âI know she means well and wants to make sure that Iâm alright being here by myself, but Iâm capable,â you smiled, watching BamBamâs smile grow too, âIâm alright.â
His head nodded, knowing exactly what his mum was like. âIf she was able to, sheâd be on a plane across to you so that she could be in person.â
âYour tour is only three weeks; nothing is really changing right now.â
âPlease, just humour her for me,â BamBam asked of you, âwhen I get home, sheâll go back to ringing me so you can be left in peace again, sheâs just a massive worrier.â
âI never believed you before when you said that,â you joked, âbut Iâm definitely seeing it for myself, I have to give hourly updates to her.â
BamBam offered you a grin, knowing how hard things were for you, âI know you feel bad telling her nothing has changed, but itâs what she wants to hear.â
âI do appreciate her caring, itâs just a lot, thatâs all.â
Yugyeom:
Your eyes shut momentarily as you heard a knock at the door, taking a moment to pull yourself up off of the sofa. With your bump getting big, it took a little while for you to make your way across to the door to open it.
You smiled softly as you opened up the door to reveal Yugyeomâs mum before you. âFor you,â she spoke, handing you a carrier bag.
âWhatâs all this?â You asked, taking a look inside.
âYugyeomâs dad and I did a load of cooking today, and we thought youâd appreciate some of the meals to save you cooking,â she explained, taking a step inside your home.
You quickly took the bags into the kitchen, inviting her through. âYou didnât have to think of me like that, youâre too kind doing all of this for me.â
âYouâre carrying my grandchild; a bit of cooking is the least I could do.â
âYugyeom hasnât put this up to you, has he?â You laughed, knowing exactly what he was like, âheâs been texting me nonstop these past few days.â
âHe doesnât know that Iâm doing this,â she assured you, taking a seat, âheâd probably tell me to stop worrying about you too.â
Your head nodded in agreement with her, âyour family is full of worriers, but at least I know with all of you guys Iâm always going to be well looked after by you.â
âOf course, weâre all right here when you need us.â

the one where you and harry are keeping a secret from your brother, who happens to hate harryâs guts.Â
authorâs note : hello everyone! i'm back with another fic, one that i can't believe i wrote so quickly to say the least. this is part of @harrystylescherryââs playlist challenge. i chose drive on by miss charlotte clark because it is an amazing song, and i can only hope that iâve don't it justice. Â
word count : 13.9k of a lot of angst, smut and only a tiny bit of fluff. i really don't know what happened to me.Â
please talk to me about drive on here. let me know what you think :)Â
But if we parted I'd be half-hearted So I'll leave the light on
As you were getting ready that evening, you knew that you were going to have to try your hardest to not show that you were absolutely dreading what was about to happen. The light sounds of Fleetwood Mac filled your room as you finished making sure that you looked okay. It seemed as though the longer that you looked at yourself in the mirror, the more you started to doubt that you actually looked okay.Â
You tilted your head to the side as you looked in the mirror, running your eyes up and down your own body as if to check that youâre at least presentable. Your outfit wasnât too out of the ordinary, just a pair of black, flared trousers and a white knitted jumper because you knew that it is going to be quite chilly and you are going to be outside for a large portion of the evening and you make sure to pair it with some white trainers, ones that match so you start to feel a little more put together. Even though it certainly wasnât the most out there outfit, it was okay and you had to keep reminding yourself of that.Â
Walking down the stairs, you could hear the mumbling of your brother, Isaac, in the kitchen, along with someone elseâs voice that you immediately recognise as Daisy, your best friend. Youâre not exactly surprised at their discussion, because whenever theyâre alone in a room together you know that it doesnât usually end up with them discussing sunshine and rainbows. The more you think about it, the more you struggle to determine which one out of the two of them is more stubborn, because they both are just as stubborn as each other.Â
âBaby sis!â You try not to roll your eyes at your brotherâs greeting, âWhere the fuck do you think youâre going?âÂ
âWeâre coming with you.â You respond, walking forward so that you can greet your friend with a hug. You knew that it was going to be a long shot of him letting you come with him, but if Daisy was too you knew that he wouldnât be able to say no, and thatâs why you go with her every single time. Itâs how youâre cheated the system of having an overprotective brother.Â
âI thought you were going to Daisyâs for a sleepover?â He questions, and you nod your head.Â
âI am.â You smile, âBut after.âÂ
You walk over to grab yourself a bottle of water out of the fridge because you know that if you look at him in the eyes heâll be staring at you in a way that you could do without. You know that heâs only saying the things that he is because heâs protective of you, but you also have to keep reminding him that it wasnât the first time that you had gone out and been to a race with him, and it certainly wasnât going to be the last.Â
Chugging down a bit of the water, Daisy extends her arm out to you and you pass the bottle to her, watching as she takes a sip before passing it back to you so that you can put the cap on. Even though you have been to the races before, that certainly didnât meant that every time you did go you found yourself being more and more nervous for what youâre going to witness. Itâs dangerous, and sometimes you feel a though youâre the only one out of all of them to notice that.Â
âEvery fucking time.â Isaac shakes his head and you smile.Â
âThank you.â You had an obnoxious grin on your face as you say the words, and you know it.Â
âYeah, well. . .â He shakes his head, âJust come on and letâs get in the fucking car.âÂ
The first time you went to one of the races, you remember not being able to focus on anything other than the fact that anyone could get really injured, or even die, at any second if theyâre not careful. Maybe you were just too overly cautious, and you couldnât ever find yourself focusing on the thrill and excitement of it all because you were too worried that someone was going to get hurt. It was even worse when the person you were worried about was someone you cared about like you did your brother.Â
âOne of these days you will take me without putting up a fight.â You say, following him towards his car, âI donât know when it will be but I can feel it.âÂ
He looks at you as he opens his door, âThatâs never going to happen. For one, I hate that you even come to where the races are held, more so that you stand and watch them.âÂ
You shrug and climb in the car, âMum and Dad donât know that you race, and if theyâre not able to be there and worry about your safety then I am going to be the one to do so. Canât have you risking your life and at least not one of us being there.â
He shakes his head and tuts, âIâm not risking my life. Itâs just competitive driving.âÂ
You furrow your eyebrows and you hear Daisy chuckle, âYouâre delusional.âÂ
âSays you.âÂ
The two of you hear a tut coming from the back seat, âI know the two of you are siblings, and this is just what I have to deal with, but sometimes I really do wonder whether or not youâre children hidden in fully grown bodies.âÂ
âIâm not the child.â Isaacâs quick to say, âIf anything, youâre the child!âÂ
âReally?â You shake your head, âYou must know that you saying that basically proving everything! Youâre the child, Isaac.â
âGod, I wish Iâd never said anything.â Daisy shakes her head and you cross your arms over your chest, pouting slightly but trying not to make it too obvious because you really were trying to be the adult in this situation.Â
You and Isaac werenât the closest of siblings, to say the least. The two of you never did much together and if you did it wasnât voluntarily, but that didnât mean that you didnât care for each other because you certainly did. The two of you would protect each other without any hesitation, in any situation because that was the type of siblings that you were. That didnât mean that you were friends, though, because you didnât have to be. You loved each other, and you cared for each other, but you didnât have to be friends with each other and you were both okay with that. It was was though you both had an unspoken agreement that youâd look out for each other in this way.Â
Turning onto the ever so familiar field, you know that it isnât going to be long before your heart rate is going to feel as though it is beating out of your chest and your palms are going to start to get sweaty. You believed that you brother was good at what he did, he wouldnât have gotten as far as he had if he didnât, but even if someone is as good and as talented as he was that didnât meant that accidents donât happen.Â
There isnât just that fact that your brother is good at the sport to contend with, but also the fact that some people who do it may not be as good as he is, and they could be reckless, and in drag racing, recklessness gets people in trouble. You knew that, he knew that and everyone who participated and watched knew that. You knew that there were some people there just to watch the race whilst getting drunk with their friends and you didnât mind that because that was what it was there to do, but you couldnât stand the people who were there in hopes that something did go wrong, just to see a little bit of action in their boring day to day lives.Â
You supposed that a part of your worry for these games were because you werenât just worried about your brother, you were worried about somebody else also. Isaac stopped the car so that you and Daisy could get out but you hesitated before doing so. You looked at him, and he nodded at you so you nodded your head and again and got out. You stood and watched as he drove away, making his wear to where all of the participants line up their cars before it starts.Â
Your eyes follow him, all the way along the man-made little road on the field and to where the other cars were. Thatâs when you see him, stood in exactly the same place as he was a few weekends before this one and a few weekends before that, leant against his car and his arms crossed as he chewed some gum.Â
The insides of your stomach flutter, and not in nervousness but instead in the complete opposite way. He catches your eyes straight away, raising his eyebrows at you as you smile at him. You nod your head, trying hard not to let too big of a blush cover your cheeks and he nods back. Thatâs as far as your interaction with Harry can go at the moment, because if anyone saw the two of you communicating you knew that all hell would break loose and you certainly didnât want to be around to see that.Â
The race was going to start any second, and you made your way over to where Daisy was stood, knowing that she would have saved you a spot next to her so that you didnât have to try and manoeuvre your way through the crowd to get a good spot to watch. You were relieved that you had arrived here not early enough to have to wait hours like you had before, because it was in the time like that where the overpowering feeling of worry was able to slip into you like nothing else and you would try really hard to overpower it but the majority of the time you never felt as though you could.Â
What YN worried about the most though, was the fact that whoever could be injured in the race, or something worse, were both people that YN loved. The two of them for different reasons, of course, but it was still love and all of the love you felt for them was important. You watched as they both sat in their cars, driving towards the starting line with such an ease that you wondered whether or not theyâd be able to do it in their sleep. You wouldnât be surprised if they could. You know that Harry has raced in hundreds of races, and you also know that your brother is quickly catching up to that, but that doesnât make it any easier, for them or for you.Â
âReady racers?â A woman walked in between the cars and held up a flag. Both her brother and Harry respond by a roar of their engine, â3! 2! 1! Go!âÂ
You look down slightly once you hear their cars start, going along the man-made path and over all of the hills and round all of the bends. You only look down for a second before looking up and watching as they drive away from you. The people around you cheer, and Daisy even cheers from the side of you but all you can make up the courage to do is clap your hands slightly. Every time you stand and watch a race, you always say to yourself that youâll never do it again because you donât think that youâre heart will survive it, but then you always come back to watch the next race because you physically canât keep away. Not when two people you love are doing something that you know could end badly.Â
They drive around, the two of them doing anything they can to try and throw the other off track but you know that it probably wonât work, because it works with everyone else but hardly ever with each other. You know that whoever wins will do so because of their speed, because thatâs how it always happens when the two are up against each other. You stand there watching them drive for what feels like hours, the cheers only getting louder as the two of them fight for the first place prize.Â
As the finishing line draws to a close, theyâre playing cat and mouse with each other, and you know whoever is next to cross in front will win.Â
Itâs Isaac. Isaac won. Youâre happy for him, but at the same time you know that Harry isnât going to be the happiest but youâll just have to remind him that he won last time and that he has to let other people win at some point. Your brother was cheering when he got out of his car, and you could see his friends bouncing over to him with smiles on their faces and drinks in their hands. You and Daisy make your way over, but you arenât as excited they seem to see him.Â
âAre you two leaving now?â He asks and you and Daisy look at each other before nodding, âSatisfied?âÂ
âVery.â You nod, âWell done.âÂ
âThanks.â He raises his hand up and points at you, âAm I picking you up tomorrow?âÂ
You shake your head, managing to keep your cool as you did, âDaisy said sheâll drive me back. I donât know whether youâll be at work by the time weâre ready.âÂ
âSounds good. See you tomorrow.âÂ
You physically let out a sigh of relief when you walk away and he believed you. You hate lying to him, you really do, but you just donât see any other option to do what youâre doing without lying, which is horrible buy you really donât know another wine.Â
Daisy slips her arm into yours as you walk away, âWhereâs he meeting you?âÂ
âIn the usual place.â You nod, âI couldnât see him when we were over there so I think heâs already gone.âÂ
âOkay.â She nods, âIâm catching a ride with Dennis, will you be okay?âÂ
âIâll be fine.â You smile.Â
âCall me if you need anything?âÂ
âYou know I will.âÂ
âGood.â She wraps her arms around you before pulling away, âSee you soon?âÂ
âSee you soon.âÂ
The walk to the edge of the field, just behind a row of trees that hide Harryâs car from the watchful eye of others isnât a long one, and you can feel the butterflies bubbling in the pit of your stomach the closer you walked to it. Just as every time you did this, your stomach was in twists and turns tightly in your stomach until you have to place your hand upon it as though it would calm it but it doesnât. It doesnât calm down until you see the back of the man you loves head, a slight cloud of smoke around his head and his leather jacket on his body. A smile immediately broke out over your lips.Â
You bound over to him, immediately wrapping your arms around his waist and placing your cheek against the leather of his jacket. You can feel him tense underneath your touch slightly but once you hear and feel him chuckle, his whole body relaxes.
He hums, âWho might that be?âÂ
He grabs your hands and lightly pulls them away from his body so that he can turn around and place his hands around her back. You grin and place your chin on his chest, laughing softly as he leans down and places multiple kisses around your face, âHarry!âÂ
âWhat?â He grinned pulling away from you, shrugging his shoulders, âDo you not like my kisses or something?âÂ
You chuckle, âI love your kisses, but donât you think they can wait until weâll out of public. Away from my brother.âÂ
He pouts, dropping his head to your shoulder, âI suppose.âÂ
Harry walks over to the passenger side of the car and opened the door for you. As you walked towards him, you placed a kiss to his cheek and slipped into the car. The nerves were back in your stomach as you watched Harry walk around the car and slip into the driverâs seat. The two of you donât get to see each other as much as youâd possibly like to, so nights like these were special to you, and you hoped that he was just as excited and nervous as you were.Â
The second Harry was sat in his seat, and had started the car, his hand was on your thigh, squeezing the flesh through your trousers at you sat there. You really had missed feeling having him touching you, even though it hadnât been that long. If it was up to you, Harry would be with you everyday and you would be able to kiss and touch him everyday without any issues, but you knew that just wasnât the case.Â
You and Harry had been together for a little shy of three years now, hiding your relationship from literally everyone apart from a few trusted people on each side of you. It wasnât that you wanted to hide, but you both knew that you just had to if you were going to be able to have the relationship that you had. When you were younger, Harry and Isaac were best friends. You could always remember sitting in the back of the car after behind picked up from school and being squashed into the door because the middle seat was always taken by Harry. You canât quite remember why the two of them fell out, but you did remember that it happened when the three of you were around fifteen or sixteen.Â
It was a shock to everyone, because the two of them had been friends for the longest of times and Isaac did seem to be in a rut once it had happened. You had tried to talk to him about it a few times but he never said anything, so you turned to the one other person in the situation who might have to been able to help you. Harry. At first, he seemed to be completely shocked when you walked over to him one day after school and jumped into his car. He actually looked quite taken aback, but when you started asking questions about the falling out he just went quiet.
To this day you still donât know what had happened between the two of them, but you do know that was the day that you relationship with Harry turned from being the generally acquaintances because youâre friends with my brother to something more. Harry was somebody who you had grown up with, and yes you could admit that he was handsome, but youâd never thought of him in a romantic way up until that point. A part of you wished that you had picked up on it early because you may have been able to kiss him sooner than you had but you were happy, and the two of you were now three years going strong.Â
The fact that your brother and Harry had fallen out, and when the two of you got together it was really rocky between them, you both decided that the best thing to do was just not to tell him, which led to not telling anyone. You had said that when things improved between the two of them you would tell him, but once the Drag Racing started, there was no way that it would ever improve between the two of them, and you just had to accept that.Â
Arriving at Harryâs apartment, it was almost as though your body was working on auto-pilot when Harry opened the door and you walked through. You kicked your shoes off by the door, walked into the kitchen to pour yourself a glass of water and made your way into his bedroom. Harry was already stood in the small room, placing his jacket in his wardrobe. You quickly started to undress, swapping your clothes for one of Harryâs shirts and a pair of your pyjama shorts. You walk into the bathroom to take your makeup off and brush your teeth.Â
âHave you had any more thought into our anniversary trip?â Harry called from the bedroom.Â
âIâve thought about it.â You say, running your make up wipe over your eyes, âThatâs about it.âÂ
You can hear his sigh even from the other room, and your insideâs twists in not the good way. The anniversary trip had been something that the two of you had spoken about for a long time, and it would be coming in a few months and Harry had been on your back for a long time so that they could get it booked, but you were thinking about a lot of other things rather than booking a holiday. You did hate that you didnât have anything more to say to him, because you knew that he was disappointed, but there was only so much that you could say.Â
âIâll need to book time off of work soon, YN.â He appears only in his boxers in the doorway, leant against it with his arms crossed, âI need to know the dates.âÂ
âI know.â You sigh, turning so that your hip was leant against the counter, âI still just need to figure out what Iâm going to tell Isaac.âÂ
Harry sighs and runs his hand over his face, âI know. We can think of what to say to him later, but as soon as possible can you tell me the dates.âÂ
He walks over and places his hands on your waist and you nod, âI will. Iâll check when I get home.âÂ
âGood.â He presses a kiss to your cheek.Â
You hated hiding things from Harry, you really did, because that man really was your soulmate and the person in this world that you told everything to, so it felt horrible to be hiding something from him. Hiding things from Harry felt like ripping your heart from your chest â you just couldnât do itâ but here you were, doing it without anything happening.Â
It had been a long night for the two of them, and you knew that even though Harry had a brave face on, you knew that inside he probably wasnât too happy that heâd lost. The thing about Harry, and your brother for that matter, was that they are so competitive, especially with each other, that when either one of them loses they try to seem like they donât care but they do. When you walked back into the room, Harry was already in bed with his arms crossed and his face in a sulk.Â
You sighed and walked over to your side of the bed, pulling the duvet back and slipping under. Harry didnât even turn to look at you, so you wrapped your arm around his waist and placed your head upon his chest so that he couldnât help but look at her. You knew that the main thing that you needed to do right now was try and get him out of the rut. It could spring on him at any point but it was never anything that was easy to get him out of. You sighed and pressed a kiss to his bare chest.Â
âDo you want to talk about it?â You mumbled against his chest.Â
âThereâs nothing to talk about.â He mumbled and you shook your head, lifting your hand up to push some of his hair out of his face.Â
âThere obviously is.â You sighed, âYouâre in your rut. Talking about it takes you out of it. I know that, you know that, but youâre just too stubborn to realise this.âÂ
âIâm not too stubborn.â He pouts and you shake your head with a roll of your eyes, raising one of your eyebrows at him, âI just. . . fucking hate loosing to him. Talking about the anniversary, and I know why you havenât said anything about it yet, baby, just reminded me. Iâm sorry.âÂ
You hesitate for a second before smiling at him, âI know you are, H, donât worry. Itâs my fault. I shouldâve told you.âÂ
âDonât.â He shakes his head and leans forward, placing his hand upon your cheek, âDonât apologise. I get that itâs hard for you, I know. I just. . . wish that I could take it all away from you. Itâs my fault that youâre having to keep secrets from your brother.âÂ
You shake your head, âItâs not your fault. I promise that it isnât your fault. Thereâs been hundreds of times in the past three years when I could have told him.âÂ
âItâs not just you. We need to tell him.âÂ
If you needed anything else to love Harry for (which you really donât because you love him with youâre entire being) you feel as though this would be one of those things. You couldnât believe how understanding he was, and even though the two of you did have times where you butted heads on things, it was never over anything big like this. The two of you made sure that if you ever did have a problem that you needed to sort, there would be some arguing and shouting but there is in any couple, but the two of you always made up before it ended up turning ridiculous.Â
You turned your head to Harry and placed you lips on his, pushing his shoulders down with your hand so that heâs on your back. You move slightly underneath the duvet that you were both under, manoeuvring yourself so that you were hovering over his body, the two of your lips never separating. You were straddling him, your hands resting on the pillow by Harryâs head. Your hips ground against his boxers involuntarily, and you can feel him smiling against him. Harry moaned into your mouth, and you could feel his bulge growing harder and bigger beneath you.Â
Pulling away slightly you lean forward and place your forehead upon his, smiling as you place a small kiss to his nose. The hard and stern face of your boyfriend that you had seen earlier when he was racing had completely disappeared, and it was now replaced by his soft and flush features that he only ever saved for when he was with you, and you loved it. You could still feel his hard-on rubbing against your thigh, and you leant forward and placed your lips back on his. His arms wrapped around your waist and back, slipping them down until he could squeeze and knead the flesh over your pyjama short.Â
âYou know I fucking love you, right?â He mumbles against your lips and you nod.Â
His hips continue to buck up to yours, whilst you grind yours back down to him. You pulled away and leant your head upon his forehead again, âI know you love me. You know I love you?âÂ
He responded you flipping you over, his body now hovering over you. He gave you a boyish smile and nodded his head, leaning his head back down to place his lips on your neck, pressing small little kisses to the skin.Â
âI know you love me.â He mumbles against her lips, âDo you wanna feel me, baby? Have you missed me?âÂ
You responded with a moan, the sound of his raspy voice goes all the way from your ear, all the way down your spine to the heat between your legs. You wouldnât be surprised if your panties were completely ruined by now.Â
âOf course Iâve missed you.â You mumble against his lips, your cheeks flushing as you admit it to him. For years you two have been this close, but it didnât stop you from being nervous every single time that you are near each other. Itâs always how it had been, and probably how it will always be but you wouldnât have it any other way.Â
âTell me how much youâve missed me.â He kissed down your neck, and you couldnât help the smile that crossed you face as he did so, âDonât hold back, baby.âÂ
You threw your head back as he moved downwards, threading your fingers through his hair as you did so. You just hoped that it made him feel better than it was.Â
Walking home the next morning, your entire body was relaxed and happy in a way that it only ever is after youâd spent time with Harry. If you passed anyone in the street, you smiled at them and there was a slight bounce in your step. There was an excitement that there hadnât been in you for a long time because you were going to look over your schedule and finally get yourself sorted for your anniversary trip with Harry. Walking through the door that goes into kitchen, you immediately walk over to the fridge to take the orange juice out.Â
âMorning little sis.â You jump out of your skin and turn around, leaning your back against the counter and lifting your hand up to your chest as it beats in your chest. Looking at your brother, it seemed as though he had just got back from a run, since he was all sweaty, he had his running shoes on and his headphones around his neck. Immediately your heart started to beat in your chest quicker, and the relaxation that you had felt before had immediately left your body and you feel back on edge as you do a lot of the time recently.Â
âMorning.â You grin, turning back around to open a cupboard to grab a glass that you could fill with the orange juice carton that you were still holding, âBeen for a run?âÂ
He nods his head, walking over to the fridge and taking out a bottle of water. When he wasnât looking directly at you, a sigh escaped your lips. It was quickly over and he was looking at you again, leant against the counter across from you with his arms crossed.Â
âWoke up with the want to go for a run.â He explained and you furrowed your eyebrows, looking at him and he chuckles, âI know, totally unlike me but I really did just feel like it.âÂ
You nod, your fingers tapping on the counter slightly, âDid you. . . did you go on your normal route?âÂ
Isaac shakes his head, âI met up with DâAngelo. We went to the lake.âÂ
Just like that, the worry that was in your body had left. The lake was on the other side of the town to where Harry lived, and where Isaac normally ran meaning that he couldnât have seen you leaving Harryâs house which was good. You were starting to realise that the more you had to make sure that your brother hadnât seen or didnât know anything about you and Harry, the harder it was becoming for you to keep track of everything. The lie of staying over at Daisyâs had worked for years now, but the older that you got and the more that situations were changing for the two of you, it was harder to keep it as a lie.Â
âWas it busy?â You ask, trying to make conversation that made it seem as though everything was normal and nothing had happened.Â
He shakes his head, âNot really.â He hesitates for a second before looking up at you and tilting his head to the side, âI did see Daisy and Dennis though.âÂ
And just like that, your whole body was back to being on edge and nervous. The only way that you could describe how you felt was a mixture of both shock and immediate nervousness. Isaac continued to drink from the bottle in his hand, with no malice or shock on his features at all. If he did know something, he wouldâve had said something by now and you knew that because of how well you knew him and thatâs in one of the ways how you were both similar â when you knew something, you couldnât keep it a secret.Â
It was something that you had grown up with, your inability to keep secrets and you were honestly and truthfully so surprised that you and Harry had managed to keep your relationship a secret for so long. This wasnât the first time that you had thought that Isaac had found out about your relationship, and it wasnât the first time that you hadnât been able to figure out how to get out of it but you knew that you would be able to get yourself out of it. You hoped that you would be able to get yourself out it.Â
You were started to get quite nervous though, with sweaty palms and a heart beating directly up against your chest. Your mind spiralled and you hoped that you were going to hear something that would stop your chest in the next few minutes.Â
âDid you?â You cleared your throat to make it seem as though you were more put together than you were.Â
He hums, âYeah. They explained that you were walking home and that Dennisâ arrival was out of the blue.â
You nod and smile, your heart stopping to beat so quickly the second those words escaped her lips, âYeah. He appeared and asked her to go on a walk before work later. I said that Iâd just walk home so that Daisy could go. I think heâs going to ask her out soon.âÂ
Isaac scoffs and crossing his arms over his chest, âI hope so. Theyâve only been dancing around it for the last few years.â
You nod, âWeâve all said it. I donât know how many times weâve told her but anyway, Iâm going to get in the shower before getting ready for work.âÂ
Youâre quick to walk out of the kitchen and up the stairs with your head spinning. The entire time that youâre getting ready, showering and doing your hair, standing in front of your mirror and looking at the marks that Harry had left over the entirety of your skin before putting your work uniform on, youâre thinking about what youâre going to do. Today you were going to book some time off work from the cafĂŠ during the week of your anniversary, and even though that Daisy would know why you were doing that, you didnât have to tell anyone else there. When it came to being at home, and telling your brother why you were going to be leaving for a month whilst Daisy stayed at home was going to be hard to explain to say the least. You were going to have to think very carefully about what you were going to say.Â
Walking into the small cafĂŠ you worked at not that long later, you were happy to finally be in the place where anything else that happened in your life went to the back of your mind and you could focus on making drinks and serving customers. You had worked at the cafĂŠ since the day you turned eighteen, and you had worked there ever since. It wasnât what you wanted to do forever, working in the little cafĂŠ with your best friend and your boss that is just an absolute asshole, but you just havenât got the funds or was it the right time for you to try and get your dream going.Â
Your dream, albeit a big one, was to one day own your own cafĂŠ that sold your own treats that you made and looked the exact way that you wanted it to. You had been planning your own cafĂŠ and telling everyone you knew about it since sitting in your maths classes in middle school when you realised that school really wasnât for you. You were okay in school, and you got good enough grades, but none to get you to what you wanted to do in life. Over the last three years, many of your conversations with Harry had been about your cafĂŠ and how you would work there whilst he would take over his fatherâs mechanical shop.Â
That was the plan for the future, but first â you had a shift to do and you had a lie to think of.Â
âAfternoon.â You mumbled as you walked into the small cafĂŠ, Daisyâs eyes immediately widening as she takes a look at you stood there, âHow are you?âÂ
âIâm sorry.â Daisy blurts out, not being able to stop herself from doing so, âI really didnât know that he was going to be there, if I did I would have never gone there, you know that.âÂ
âI know.â You walk over and wrap your arms around her shoulders briefly, âHe doesnât know, itâs fine. I shouldnât be relying on you so much, Daisy, I know that. Iâm trying to figure out what to do.âÂ
âItâs okay, YN.â She mumbles, placing her hand upon your shoulder with a smile, âI know why youâve done it, but Iâm glad youâre finally coming to your senses. Itâs three years too late, but at least youâre here.âÂ
âAt least itâs happening now.â You sigh, widening your eyes as you look at her.Â
âYouâll be fine. Everything will be fine.âÂ
You sigh and nod your head, hoping that she was right.Â
You heard Harryâs car before you could see it, pulling up outside of your house in a quick stop so that you could quickly duck out and get it. Isaac was out for the night, doing another race in another town that Harry couldnât do because he had work, so they had decided to spend the night together. Due to Isaac being out of town, they decided that they might even be able to go for a meal, to a restaurant, like a normal couple would.Â
You gave him a small smile and a peck on the lips as you sat in the car. There hadnât been much discussion between you and Harry that week, not since you had left his that morning. It was odd, because the two of you spoke everyday, even if it was just to check that the other was okay, but the conversation this week had been limited to you asking him to come for a meal and him replying saying that he would. You always knew that this day would come, where the unspoken issue between the two of you had become too much for you to handle.Â
You had tried five times over the last week to say something to Isaac, trying to drop it in to normal conversation but you always dived away from it, as though you couldnât allow yourself to say what you wanted to say to him. You had never been as nervous before in your life, and all you had to do was tell him about a secret that involved the one person that Isaac hated most in life and his twin sister. You just had to try your hardest to remind yourself over and over again that it was the best thing to do, and that youâd be happy if you were able to get the words out, but you just couldnât.Â
The two of you arrived at a restaurant on the outskirts of the town you lived in, one that meant you would be safe if Isaac did return home and one that the two of you also knew would serve good food. The car ride continued without any words spoken between the two of them, and you tried your hardest to not feel the nerves bubbling inside of you, but you also knew that there was a reason why you were going to have this conversation with him, and there was a reason why you needed to feel nervous for it.Â
Sitting across from Harry in a booth that sat at the front of the restaurant, you couldnât even bring yourself to take your eyes off of his face. There hadnât been a lot of times during your relationship with Harry where you had felt like this, and it was usually always when the two of you were discussing the exact topic that you knew that you were going to be now. Whilst you couldnât take your eyes off of Harry, it seemed as though he wanted nothing more than to not look at you.Â
âHey.â He didnât look up from the menu that he had in his hand, âAre you going to even look at me?âÂ
You watch as he doesnât even move a muscle, never mind do the thing that you wanted him to do which was look at you, âIâve looked at you.âÂ
âNot since weâve sat down you havenât.âÂ
You watch as he sighs and drops the menu down so that it was rested upon the table between you and lifts his eyes up to look at you, âHappy now?âÂ
A small smile breaks out your face, a sarcastic one at that, but a smile nonetheless, âVery.âÂ
Harry rolls his eyes and leans back in his chair, crossing his arms over his chest. You look at him with your eyes widened. Why this was happening all of a sudden, you didnât know, but you had a slight suspicion that you werenât going to be able to argue your way out of this one with him like you had done in the past. The first thing that led you to believe that was the fact that you were in a public place, where you had to do your best to make sure that you were going to tell the truth and nothing but the truth.Â
As a whole, you were ashamed of your actions over the years, and you knew that you wouldnât be able to apologise for everything that you had done in the past but you could at least try. Everything had changed now that you had your three year anniversary coming up, and you realised that there was so much more to life than trying to hide a stupid secret from your brother.Â
âHarry.â You start, a sigh immediately leaving your lips after, âIâm sorry. I really am.â He nods his head, âI donât expect you to accept my apology, and I certainly donât expect you to forgive me for the shit that Iâve put you through these last couple of years, but, I want to let you know that I am trying to fix things. I promise you.âÂ
He sighs, âI donât know how you can, YN. Iâve thought about it a lot recently, in the past week, since our conversation last week.âÂ
âI have too.â You nod, your fingers messing with the hem of your jacket, âI have too. Iâve tried so many times, to tell him, but I just canât and I donât know why. He canât do anything, Iâm a grown ass woman and heâs just my brother. He canât tell me who I can and canât love, and I do love you Harry more than anything, but thereâs a part of me that just canât tell him.âÂ
Harry cleared his throat and sighed, âI never told you the reason we argued.âÂ
You shake your head, âNeither of you did.âÂ
âDo you want to know?â He asked.Â
You shrugged, âI donât know. . . if it will help, than yes.â
Harry sighed and nodded his head, running his finger over his bottom lip the way that you knew that he did when he was nervous, âWe were in Eugeneâs basement, having just watched one of his races and he had some shit, and we decided to take it. It was just us, everyone else had gone to do something else or get high somewhere else, and we were just sat.â You were hanging off of every word that he said, âWe were taking about, I donât know, life and all the shit that we usually do when weâre high and we got onto the topic of you.â
Your eyes widen, âMe? Why were you talking about me?âÂ
âHe mentioned you and how you wanted to do things with your life and how he was fed up that all he had to do with his life was race.â Harry chuckled and shook his head, âI couldnât even help it, I just blurted out that I liked you and that I was going to ask you on a date, thinking that he would be happy for us, but instead, he punched me in the face.âÂ
Your lips part, âHe what?âÂ
âHe punched me.â Harry runs a hand through his hair, âAnd then he just started screaming at me, saying that scum like me wasnât good enough for someone like you. The more he said it, the more I believed it and I believed it all the way until you got in my car and asked me to tell you what had happened. I didnât, and I didnât for a reason, because if I had told you maybe you wouldâve thought the same as him, that I wasnât good enough for you, so instead I asked you on the date, just like I had planned to.âÂ
You let his words sink in for a while, the sound of them bouncing around in your head for a while as you look down at the table in front of you. You couldnât lie and say that you hadnât thought about what had gone down between them, and what had been said to make them despise each other as much as they did, but you certainly hadnât expected it to be about you of all things. It started to all make sense now, how when you had asked him, after your first night together at his house, if he was okay that you didnât tell your brother about the two of you being together, and he agreed. At first you had thought that it was odd, seeing as though this man didnât know your motive behind why you were saying that, but at the same time, you didnât know his motive behind why he said yes.Â
It all made sense.Â
You sigh and nod your head, âWhy didnât you just tell me? I wouldâve understood. You know that I wouldâve.âÂ
He shrugs his shoulders, âWhy didnât you tell me about what you had been thinking? And what you had been trying to do?âÂ
You shrug your shoulders, âI donât know.âÂ
âIt works both ways, YN.â He shrugs, âAnd Iâm sorry that I didnât tell you but a part of you has to realise that there was a reason you didnât tell me and you didnât tell him. I understand a part of you was trying to keep it calm between us, but there had to be more than that.â
You can feel the tears starting to brim within your eyes, and the more that you thought about it, the more that you knew you were going to struggle to hold them back. You start to blink quickly, lifting your eyes up to look at the ceiling. It worked, and you managed to make sure that no tears slid down your cheeks.Â
âA part of me did do it because I knew that it would be easier for you, that you didnât have to tell him that you were my boyfriend. I knew how hard that wouldâve been for you.â You explain, lifting your hand up to scratch your forehead, âSo I decided that for a little while, I just wouldnât tell him. At least not until things had calmed down between the two of you. After a few months of waiting was going to say something to him, just drop it into conversation and then walk out of it with my hands up but then I realised that it wasnât going to be that easy. The day that I was going to do it, he walked into my bedroom with this big news that he was so excited to tell me.â You take in a breath and sigh, âIt was the news that you were starting to drive, and that he was going to beat you that night and I knew that if I had told him, he wouldnât have just beat you in the race.âÂ
âI can stand up for myself, YN.âÂ
âI never said that you couldnât.â She shook her head, âI just didnât want you getting hurt because of me.âÂ
âI wouldnât be getting hurt because of you. Iâd be getting hurt because of something we did.â He explains, âJust like you canât blame this all on me, and me on you, Iâm not going to let you blame this all on yourself either.âÂ
âHarry.â You sigh and lean back in the chair that you sat in, âWeâre going to have to tell him.âÂ
He shakes his head, âHeâs not going to like it.âÂ
âI know.â You agree with him and hold your hand out, âBut weâve got to tell him.âÂ
âI know we have.â He grasps your hand in his.
It turned out that you and Harry didnât have to wait for too long to tell your brother, because when Harry pulled up outside of your house, your brother was already sat there on the steps of the house, waiting for you to arrive home. You couldnât believe what you were seeing if you were completely honest, and a part of you realised that this was it. You turned to look at Harry slightly, a sigh leaving your lips as you did so.Â
âYou still want to do this?â He asked, pulling his keys out of the ignition as the car came to a complete stop.Â
You sigh and lean over to place your hand upon his, âI donât think we have a choice, now.âÂ
âWe do.â He turned his head to look at you, squeezing your fingers as he did so, âI could just drive away. Ignore him.âÂ
You chuckle and shake your head, lifting your connected hands up to place a kiss to the back of his hand, âCome on. He might explode if we keep him waiting any longer.âÂ
You certainly couldnât lie and say that your brother looked like he was handling everything well, because he certainly wasnât. His jaw seemed to be constantly clenched the entire time that you walked towards him, and you definitely saw his hands that were clenched by his sides in fists. You knew that he was going to be annoyed, and you expected that there would certainly be some shouting involved with this, but, she certainly didnât want this to become physical at any point. In your opinion, it certainly wasnât worth it.Â
âYN.â You stop in front of him once heâs spoken your name, and Harry is just a few steps behind you. Having him there really brings a comfort that you donât really feel unless youâre with him, so if anything, you were happy that he was there, âWhat are you doing with him?âÂ
âIâmââ You start, looking at him for a second before letting out a sigh, âHeâsââ
You canât find the right words to say what you want to say. You knew that it wasnât going to be easy to explain to your brother, but you at least thought that youâd be able to get past the first words without choking up, but it seemed as though that wasnât the case.Â
âIsaacââ Harry takes a step forward, so that he was directly next to you but before he could say anything else, Isaac holds his hand out to stop him.Â
âI wasnât talking to you.â Harry clamps his lips shut, and you can tell that heâs trying to hold back so many things but at least he isnât making the situation worse which you knew that he possibly could. Isaac then turns to you, âI was asking you the question. What are you doing with him?âÂ
Letting out a sigh, you shut your eyes for a second to calm yourself down, âIâm. . . weâre together, Isaac.âÂ
He lets out a sigh and shakes his head, tutting slightly as he did so, âWhen Eugene told me, I didnât believe him. I said that youâd never do that to me because you know that I hate him more than Iâve hated anyone in my life before.âÂ
At first you listen to the words that he was saying and you nod along, as if youâre understanding what theyâre saying, but you quickly shake your head and cross your arms over your chest.Â
âIâd never do what to you, Isaac?â You ask, your eyebrows furrowing as you say the words you were speaking, âIâve fallen in love with someone, Isaac, I donât think that involves you at all.â
âBut you know I canât stand him!âÂ
âStill here, you know.â Harry mutters, lifting his hands up and walking away from them slightly.Â
You turn over to look at Harry and glare at him slightly before you turn your attention back to Isaac, âWhy do you think I didnât tell you? I knew that youâd react like this.âÂ
âWhat? Iâd react completely sane, YN?â Isaac scoffs and shakes his head.Â
âSane?â You physically canât believe what youâre hearing, âIsaac, you donât have the right to act like this over who is my boyfriend. Yeah, I understand that you donât like Harry and he isnât particularly fond of you either, but you donât have a say in that.â You stop slightly and let out a sigh of relief when you realise that youâve got him listening, âI would completely understand if you were upset about me not telling you and lying to you, but that is what you can be mad at.âÂ
He looks at you but then he shakes his head, and you know that everything that youâve just said has gone and he couldnât care less about it now.Â
âYN.â You know that tone of voice anywhere, and you couldnât believe that he was still acting like this, âItâs Harry. You donât know the shit that he said, and you donât know what it was like to sit and listen to him saying everything he said about you.âÂ
This time, itâs you who lets the words that heâs just spoken sink in for a while. If what Harry had said to you earlier was true, that all your brother had to be upset about was him saying that he liked you and wanted to ask you out. Now, youâre not exactly sure how the male mind works, but youâre pretty sure that Isaac can distinguish between someone saying that they like someone and something else. You turn to look at Harry and he looks down at the floor, and thatâs when you realise very quickly that there was something else to the story that you didnât know. The mere thought of it made you feel sick. What had actually been said that night?
âIsaac.â You turn back to look at him, âWhat was said?âÂ
âYN.â He shakes his head, scratching his forehead slightly, âI donât want to tell you.âÂ
âTell me.â Your words are harsh and you can tell by the way that Harry backs away from you that youâre about to be in for a real treat, âTell me!âÂ
âWhen we were in high school, we had this list.â Isaac starts, and you know that what he is saying is probably really important context but you just want him to get to the point, âAnd on this list, weâd rank who we thought were the most fuck-able girls in the school.âÂ
Your entire heart plummets to the pit of your stomach, âThatâs disgusting. You should be ashamed of yourselves.âÂ
âI am, donât worry.â Isaac nods, âHarry never got involved with it, and we all knew why, because he was the good one who never cared about those things and everyone just accepted that. I certainly did.âÂ
âJust get on with it, Isaac.âÂ
âWell, we were in Eugeneâs basement and we were high and drunk and everything was just a little blurred if Iâm honest, but I asked Harry a question. I said, best friend to best friend, if you were to pick one person to go on the top of the list, and just be his one person and nobody apart from us would ever find out, he turned to me and said: you.âÂ
You canât figure out what your angrier at. You canât decide whether itâs because Harry had actually said those words to your brother, degrading you in such a way that you had never ever expected him to or the fact that he had lied to you about what had actually happened. In honesty, you do think that thing that has upset you the most was that he didnât tell you the truth. He could have told you what had actually happened earlier on in the day on you wouldnât have cared, because you knew that he was high and drunk and he probably wouldnât have meant it but the fact that he lied, made you feel sick to your stomach. It made you question whether or not he had lied to you at other points and you just hadnât known because you were too naĂŻve to see it.Â
You turn to look at Harry and heâs looking directly back at you, not at the ground and not anywhere else but directly at you.Â
âHarry.â You can already feel the tears start to form within your eyes, âTell me itâs not true.âÂ
Harry shakes his head and looks down at the ground, and you shake your head to try and back the tears. You know that if you open your mouth words will tumble out that you really donât mean, and you know that you canât let that happen but youâre in such a state that you know that youâre mind would be clouded with how upset you are.Â
âHe knows itâs fucking, true, YN.â Isaac says from behind you, âThatâs why we fucking fought and punched the living daylights out of each other.âÂ
You shake your head again, the tears involuntarily spilling down your cheek, âHarry. Why didnât you tell me?âÂ
âI thoughtââ He starts but then he shakes his head, âI didnâtââ
Just like you couldnât find the words to say, it seemed as though Harry couldnât either. You really didnât care about what he said, and you wouldnât care about what he said. There were things that youâd said when you were younger and in high school that you certainly regretted and you would hate if anyone was to bring them up but you wouldnât lie about it. You had lied in the past and done things in the past that you didnât agree with, but it wasnât as though you were doing it for any other reason but to protect the relationships that you had made with people.Â
âHarry.â He lifts his head to look at you, âI think you should go.âÂ
âYN. . .â He takes a step forward towards you but you hold your hand up.Â
âJust for tonight.â You nod your head, âWeâll speak tomorrow. We all just need to. . . calm down.âÂ
âBut YN. . .â He takes another step forward but you shake your head.Â
âPlease, Harry.â You close your eyes, âJust for tonight.âÂ
He doesnât seem very happy with what you had said but he nods at you once before walking over to his car and getting in. He slams the door closed behind him, and you flinch when he does so. You watch through the window as he looks at you one last time before starting the engine and driving.Â
He drives on, and he doesnât look back, not even one last time and you watch as his car disappears off the street. Once you know that heâs gone, you start walking towards the end of the drive and down to the pavement.Â
âYNââ Isaac starts but you turn to look at him and shake your head.Â
âNot now.â You run a hand through your hair, âIâm going to Daisyâs. Iâll be fine.âÂ
With that, you walk down the street and towards Daisyâs house, the thoughts of what had just happened dancing around in your head. You knew that this was going to happen at some point, and it would all blow up in your face, you just hadnât know that it would be like this.
The next day you return home with bags underneath your eyes and yawns escaping your lips. You would say that youâre nervous, but after being up all night with worry in your stomach, youâre pretty certain that youâre just a little anxious but the thing that overwhelms your brain more than anything is the want for all of this to be over. You needed to sort things out with your brother, so you could go back to being siblings that annoy each other more than anything, and then you need to sort everything out with Harry. You knew that it was going to be hard, and you knew that your emotions were going to be high but you needed to get it over and done with. You werenât going to allow your life to be like this for longer than it needed to be, and it didnât need to be at all.Â
When you walked through the front door of your house, you didnât know what you were expecting to see, but you really didnât expect what you saw. Isaac was laid across the couch, with empty beer bottles on the table in front of him. You knew why he had done it, and you hated that it was your fault that he had done it but at the same time he was a grown man, just like you were a grown woman, and he knew that this wasnât the right way to go about things.Â
With a sigh, you walked over to the sofa and picked up one of the cushions by Isaacâs feet and threw it air his head. He groaned and moved around and that was when you nudged his legs so that you could sit down. He groaned again but moved them away, and you heard him yawn and felt his body lift up from beside you so that he was upright.Â
âHowâs the head?â You mumble, crossing your arms over your chest and leaning back in the seat.Â
He groans and does the same, âItâs been better.âÂ
You chuckle and close your eyes, allowing a slight calmness to wash over your body. If there was one thing that you missed about getting older, was not being able to have the stupid conversations with him that made absolutely no sense to anybody but the two of them. But, something that you did know was that even when this was all sorted and everything went back to normal, you wouldnât be surprised if not everything went back to normal between the two of you. It was something hard to understand, but you just had to accept it because you wouldnât be surprised if it took years to fix.Â
Thereâs a silence between the two of you for a while, but you quickly realise that isnât going to help you in your situation so without really thinking you collect yourself and let out a small breath that you didnât know you had been hiding for a while.Â
âIâm sorry.â You say, the words coming out of your mouth stronger than you had expected them to. You thought that they would at least be broken, but they werenât, âIâm sorry for everything, but most importantly, Iâm sorry for lying and keeping it from you.âÂ
You donât know what Isaac is going to say, and the fact that you donât does make you worry slightly but you know that youâd be able to handle whatever he was going to say. You would be able to handle it because you were strong, at this point you needed to be.Â
âI accept your apology.â He says, and you turn to look at him with tears in your eyes. He nods at you and smiles, âThe more I thought about it, the more I understood why you did it. If the shoe was on the other foot I wouldâve done the exact same thing. I wouldnât have even hesitated to.âÂ
You nod your head and close your eyes, a few tears falling from them but youâre quick to lift your hand and wipe them away. He reaches over and grabs your hand, and you squeeze his as you do so.Â
âI shouldnât have lied to you though.â You shake your head, âWe donât lie to each other.âÂ
âOh.â Isaac shakes his head and you furrow your eyebrows at him, âWe donât lie to each other but we certainly keep secrets. The amount Iâve kept from you. . . youâd probably kill me.âÂ
Your lips part in shock, âAre you going to tell me them?âÂ
âNo.â He shakes his head, a chuckle leaving his lips, âI maybe will later, but right now, youâve got somewhere to be.âÂ
âHave I?â He taps his hand on your leg and stands up, and all you can do is furrow your eyebrows in response.Â
âYou have.â You watch as he grabs his jacket and places it on his body, âAnd Iâm going to take you there.âÂ
You know straight away that Isaac is talking about going to see Harry, and just the fact that he was going to take you made you want to burst out into even more tears that you had been before. You didnât though, because you were able to keep your calm and just smile and nod along with him, but it was certainly hard for you to do. It felt as though you were getting acceptance from Isaac and although you knew that you didnât really need it, it sure felt good to have. You offered him a quick smile and got into his car, driving you to Harryâs and leaving you there with a squeeze of his hand.Â
Even though you werenât that nervous when it came to talking to Isaac, speaking to Harry was a completely different thing. Whereas you and Isaac had a sibling bond that could never be broken, you and Harry had a bond, one that was love to the highest degree, but it was still a love that could be broken. You just hoped that this wasnât it and you hadnât met the point of no return just yet.Â
You palms were sweaty as you knocked on his door, and your heart felt as though it was going to beat out of your chest but you knew that this was the right thing to do. You could hear shuffling behind the door, and then it swung open, and you wanted to sigh in relief just at the sight of him stood there. He looked like he hadnât slept, but you hadnât either so it was something that you both had in common, and he had his joggers hung low on his hips in a way that you always found so endearing whenever he did it.Â
âHi.â You say, the corners of your lips tilting upwards slightly, âCan I come in?âÂ
He opens his mouth as if to say something but then he just ends up nodding his head and opening the door wider so your body can slip through. It looks exactly the same as the last time you had been there, and it felt comfortable and like your home. It certainly was your home away from home, and living with Harry would be something that you wouldnât mind doing in the future if time permitted you too. You had to remind yourself to take a few steps back and look at the situation ahead of you, and how you had a lot of things that you needed to talk about before anything else in the future could happen.Â
Walking into the apartment, you hear Harry shut the door behind you. You knew that he wasnât too far behind you, so you turned around.
âI didnât think youâd be here so soon.â He muttered, shrugging his shoulders, âI thought youâd need a few days.âÂ
âI said I would talk to you tomorrow.â You smile and nod your head, âIâm wasnât about to go back on that.âÂ
You swear you can see the slight lift of the corner of his lips, and itâs the first sign to you that everything might actually end up being okay.Â
âI know you think we have things to talk about but I actually just have one thing to say.â He says, taking a step forward towards you. You watch as he hesitantly reaches out and grabs your hand, and you smile at just the feeling of his skin on yours again, âIâm sorry, Thatâs all I can say. Iâm sorry that I said those things all those years ago, and Iâm more sorry that I didnât tell you about it when I had the chance. It was stupid of me, and I can understand if you want to. . . if you want to.â He physically stops and you can tell that heâs struggling with something, âIf you want to break up with me.âÂ
You gasp at his words, taking a step forward and placing your hands on his cheeks, âHarry. . . no. Donât think that. Iâm not going to break up with you over that.âÂ
You can hear him physically sigh and you couldnât even understand why he dared to think the way that he was, âI didnât know. I didnât know how youâd think.âÂ
âHarry.â You lean forward so that your forehead is on his, âIâm upset that you lied, but I did too. If anything, weâre just as bad as each other. Thatâs probably why weâre so perfect for each other, right?âÂ
âRight.â He chuckled, nodding his head, âWeâre perfect for each other. I love you so much, Iâm so sorry.âÂ
âIâm sorry too.â You close your eyes as you let the words sink in, âIf thereâs one way I know how weâre never going to go through anything like this again, is if we promise to never keep anything from each other again.âÂ
âWe wonât.â He mumbles, âI wonât.âÂ
âGood. I wonât either.â Your hands grip onto his arms as they wrap around your neck, âI need you, Harry Styles. I do.âÂ
âI need you too.âÂ
With that you open your eyes so that you can look directly in his, a small smile breaking over your lips at the fact the two of you knew that he needed you just as much as you needed him. It certainly made this entire situation feel as though it happened for a reason, that it happened so that you could be stronger than you already were. You never doubted that he loved you, and that you loved him, but there was the doubt that everything would have caught up with you, and that was something that you knew would be your fault. All of this was your fault, for not being honest in the first place, but that didnât mean that you couldnât find it in yourself to be honest now and get you and Harry through this.Â
Without even the slightest hint of hesitation you lean forward and place your lips on his, and he didnât wait to kiss back, his tongue moving against his bottom lip before pushing it through your parted lips. Your tongue met his in your mouth, and you pulled each other closer, grasping at each other with the want and need that never stopped when you were around him. The spark that you always felt when you were with him ran all the way down from the skin of your lips to the tip of your toes, fluttering all over your body. You had told him that you needed him, which was the truth, but you were soon starting to realise that there was more to the need you had for Harry than what met the eye. It was something that went past all of the words in the dictionary to actions that you needed to name, and thatâs why you pulled away and rested your head on his forehead.Â
âHarry.â You mumble, âTake me to the bedroom.âÂ
He pulls away and furrows his eyebrows, not expecting those words to slip from your mouth, âAre you sure? We donât have to.âÂ
âIâm sure.â You mumble against his lips, âNever been more certain of anything in my entire life.âÂ
He presses kisses against your neck and shoulders as he places you down on the bed, his body hovering over yours. When he starts to put a little more pressure on your skin with his teeth, you canât help the light moans that start to escape your lips. He starts to toy with the hem of your shirt, and you respond to him by lifting your legs and wrapping them around his waist. Your hips move in circular motions to his, and itâs his turn to moan into you.Â
You pull away and sit up, pulling your shirt over your head and revealing your bra to him. It wasnât the nicest bra you owned, but it got to the point in your relationship when you didnât need to wear fancy lingerie all of the time to feel good enough for him, but that didnât mean that you didnât every now and then to feel sexy. Every now and then, though, just like you felt now, you realise that you donât need to wear anything to feel sexy because just the way that Harry looked at you made you feel like that. The was his eyes raked up and down your body, across every inch of skin that he could see. That made you feel sexy. The way he looked at you made you feel sexy.Â
âMissed this.â He leans over and places a kiss to the skin of your shoulder, âMissed you. Youâre so fucking beautiful, YN, you have no idea.âÂ
You lean forward and capture your lips again on his, slipping your arm around his shoulder so that you could run your nails down his back, scratching lightly as you did so. He took it upon himself to slip his hands between the two of you and unbutton your trousers, pulling them as well as your panties down your legs. You remove your arms from around his neck so that you can unclip your bra and pull it down from your torso and throw it down on the floor with the rest of your clothes. This was how you loved it to be with Harry. You just loved it when the two of you were together, alone. You guessed a part of it was because that was all you ever knew of it.Â
Harry was the most loving and beautiful person youâd met in your life, and you would have loved to be able to show him off to the world as the one you loved but it just wasnât that easy, but now you had the slight suspicion that you might be able to, and a part of you was excited about that.Â
Your hands extend back out to him, pulling his body back down so that he was hovering above you again. He places a single kiss to your lips before moving his way down your body, placing kisses to your chest before moving down to the top of your breast and then down towards your nipples. He moves from each of them, one to the other, giving each of them the attention that he always does. You smile and thread your fingers through his hair, running through the curls that sat on top of his head. You used it to pull his head back up and place his lips on yours again. He responds by immediately kissing you back, and he wraps his arms around you so that he could flip you over, so that youâre resting above him now.Â
You pulled back and rested your forehead against his, âYou want me on top?â He nodded and you smiled, watching as he slipped his hands into each side of his joggers before pulling them down his legs, as well as his boxers, revealing his cock. You manoeuvre your body so that youâre further down the bed and so that your head is at the same level as him, and you lean forward, pressing a singular kiss to the tip. The sound that emits from his throat causes you to not hesitate in leaning forward and wrapping your lips around the top of him, starting to bob your head at a slow pace that you know is seemingly working because you can see his stomach moving up and down at a quick pace. Groans tumble from his lips, and you know that heâll be getting close but before he can do anything else his hands press against your cheeks and lift you back up so that he can kiss you again.Â
âDonât you wanna. . . ?â You ask, your eyebrows furrowing as you look at him.Â
âNo.â He shakes his head, placing his lips on yours, âI donât want anything but to be inside of you right now.âÂ
You watched as he moved backwards slightly, so that you were close enough to the wall that you could rest of your hand against the wall as you manoeuvre yourself over him. His cock slips between your folds, and words canât describe how wet you are for him, dripping all over him. You place your lips on his again and start to move yourself up and down his cock. The groan that escapes his lips is unlike any youâve heard before, and you canât help the smile that dances across your lips.Â
âYouâre drenched for me.â He groans against your lips, âFuck, I wanna be inside of you.âÂ
âBe my guest.â You grin, and you watch as he leans down to grab his cock in his fist and you lift up so that you can line yourself up with him. You grasp his shoulder as you slowly sink down on him, the familiar feeling of having him fill you up overwhelming you. You had been together for three years and no matter how many times you had sex, it still manages to overwhelm you more than words can explain. You whimper when heâs fully inside of you, hesitating for a few minutes before you press your lips to his in another short kiss.Â
âSo fucking tight.â He mumbles, âBest fucking feeling in the world.âÂ
You tilt your head back slightly with a smile crossing your lips, âIâm glad youâre enjoying yourself.âÂ
He chuckles but thatâs quickly shut off when you start to move, bouncing up and down on his cock. Your nails scrape down his back as you move, and you canât help the moans of profanities that leave your lips as you move. You knew you were squeezing yourself around him, it was always something that you did that caused him to clench his jaw, just has he was doing now. You quickly found a rhythm, swirling your hips and grinding them in a way that had both of you moaning out each others names.Â
You tilted your head back when he hit a spot deep inside of you that sent a wave of pleasure rushing over your body. He didnât even hesitate to lean forward and capture your nipple in his mouth, flicking his tongue over the bud slightly before moving to the other. He wrapped his arms around your body and slipped them down your back, all the way until he grabbed the flesh of your ass and squeezed. His movements were harsh, but they sent a wave of pleasure through your entire body.Â
âYN.â You hum, leaning forward and resting your head on his shoulder, not stopping the movements on his hips, âYouâre never going to leave me, are you?âÂ
You move so that youâre sat up straight and look at him, âWhy would you think that? Iâm not going to leave you, Harry, never.âÂ
âGood.â He leans forward and placing his lips back on yours. Your movements donât slow down, if anything, they speed up and a string of moans escape your lips. His hands are all over your body, and his lips are too, and the the feeling starts to rush over you. You manage to keep your hips moving at the pace for a while before you slow down, and Harry notices this and quickly flips you both over. You lay on your back with your head on the pillow, and Harry doesnât even hesitate when he slips back into you. His movements arenât fast, but theyâre certainly deep.Â
âSo fucking deep, Harry. Feels so fucking good.â Your words only seem to egg Harry on, especially the way your nails scratch down his back, âIâm so close.â
Harry was hitting just as deeply inside of you as he had been when you were riding him, and the feeling tips you closer and closer to the edge. Your hands drop down to your sides to grasp the duvet cover, and you turn your head so that you can muffle the obnoxiously loud moans that you couldnât help leaving your lips.Â
âI know you are baby.â One of his hands slips through yours, âDonât hide them moans though, let me hear them, baby, you know what it does to me.âÂ
You move your head back so that he can hear your moans, and he smiles as he continues to fuck you. It doesnât take long before heâs tipping you over the edge and your orgasm hits you. Itâs one of the most powerful youâve ever had, and you have every reason to believe that itâs because of how high emotions are between the two of you at the moment. Itâs intense and you can feel it everywhere, all over your entire body and more so in the pit of your stomach. Harry didnât stop his movements, not until he hit his high as well and spilled into you. You didnât care about anything else in that moment though, because you felt closer to Harry now than you even had been, and you never wanted it to change again.Â
Once he pulls out of you, a whimper immediately leaving your lips due to the emptiness you now feel. He quickly cleans you up, and then drops into the bed beside you, and you donât even hesitate when you wrap your arm around his waist and rest your head upon his chest. When your eyes close, you let out a sigh of relief.Â
âHarry.â He hums, and you can feel the vibration of his chest beneath your ear, âIâm sorry I told you to drive away.âÂ
âDonât be.â He mumbles, his fingertips dancing along the skin of your arm, âWeâve all done thing that we arenât proud of, but we have a new start. One where we donât have to keep this a secret.âÂ
You nod and smile, still not opening your eyes, âI love you.âÂ
âLove you too, baby.âÂ

There had been no call back from Bucky; he was on a mission far away, and deep undercover, and the fact that you had no response did not surprise you, however, it was impossible not to feel overcome with worry.
From what you knew, he was somewhere in Austria with Steve, and most likely irritated by the company of Sam. The thought of them together, waiting for further intel made you smile, and so you sat up on the sofa; the place where you had fallen into a rural slumber late the previous evening. That thought also made you lightly snicker to yourself, and had you grasping your chest in agony at the action.
You adjusted your seat on the sofa, kicking the blanket under your legs as you tried to relax your entire body. To subdue the worry for your love that you had and were experiencing, you and Nat had watched a movie, your head running with thoughts of the danger that your boyfriend was possibly under.
It was no doubt that James Buchanan Barnes, the White Wolf and former Winter Soldier was a fine fighter; he had endured and survived wars, achieving victory in the vast majority of his battles. But still, he was nothing more than a man, with a veil of serum coursing through his veins, and whilst it made him much stronger, he was still sustainable to injury, and worse.
Countless times had you seen him braised in bruises, and kissed along the seam of his scars, and though he had lived through decades, and still appeared unscathed considering the circumstances, he was a mortal man, able to die and it was far too clear for your scared eyes that he wouldnât be able to survive every fall.
An emptiness peeled away inside of you as you placed the phone down, resting your head upon the arm of the sofa of where you had done so priorly. Taking a deep breath, you wheezed, feeling nothing more than internal pain, and it was not just for your longing to see Bucky again. It was indeed something else, a condition that you had grown used to over the years.
It had taken everything from you; the job that you had so well partook in was diminished to being unsuitable for your health. Being an avenger had once been your only purpose, but it had been the one thing that had broken you. From all the rubble and other pesticides that you had breathed in, it had tampered with your lungs, and made you to be nothing more than a victim, a fallen hero.
The worse thing about being fallen in such a way was that you had not died on the job, instead, you were being tormented every time you watched your friends leave the compound, carrying a duffel bag that had all the necessities that they could possibly need for the gruelling months ahead on the missions that they had been sent on.
Knowing that if you werenât so inwardly broken and that if that were the case, you could have easily accompanied Bucky and the others on their uncover op made you feel worthless, and disposable. As your chest raked the air that surpassed its roots, it waded a feeling through every limb that was attached to you.
Large gulps from the air machine that was beside you usually helped, but as your brought the medically introverted oxygen mask to surround the lower half of your face, the torturous sensation failed to fade. It remained, stuck in the collapse of your airways, refusing to allow air into your defined bloodstream.
The factor alone had you panicking, and as you went to stand, there was a pounding fire coursing through your head. Your eyes got dreary, fluttering as you reached out to grasp for the side of the seating area to stabilise your steps. But it wasnât enough, all of your weight leant to one side, and a loud and colossal smash echoed through the room.
You helplessly laid there, having no ability to get up, as the shards of the glass table that had tried to break your fall, and had ended up breaking instead, stabbed mercilessly into the canvas of your back. It made you feel like a dartboard, free to the attempts of anything that put a bet on to try. This was your final fall from greatness, and if you werenât to survive this, that would be o-
âY/n.â A voice rushed out, as footsteps scrambled to come to your side. The silouhette of a blurry man knelt beside you, sickened with their own scheme of panic. âNat!â He called out towards the kitchen, you hearing the pitter patter of her assumed footsteps that were toed in competent heels.
âClint, what happened?â She asked, but giving him a break to compose his answer as she called warily out for FRIDAY, relieved when the AI answered her order. âGet one of Starkâs cars ready to go to the hospital, inform who needs to know. Y/nâs just had a nasty fall, and I assume more.â
âShe was like this when I got in here.â Was the archerâs delirious response. His hands raised your head out of the cracked pieces, gently picking the sharp crystals out of your hair. He was sick with worry, he knew that you were touring a difficult road, one that no one else on the team could fathom to understand, but despite all that, he was still there for you, as were the numerous others.
Wearing his priceless suit, Tony rushed into the room, his brown eyes blown wide as he scoped the scene. âSheâs losing consciousness.â Nat informed the pair, focusing on how your eyes barely had the strength to stay open. Your breathing was laboured, and the choke emitting from it was audible, making all witnesses wince from the threatening sound.
âMy car is ready, on our way to the ER, give Barnes a call.â He held the keys to his vehicle, swinging them around his finger, as he watched Clint and Natasha hoist you up, and support you through the journey to the front of the compound. Nat stroked your hair as she bit back her own tears, combing tenderly through the slightly bloody tresses to soothe her own present anxiety.
The mission was turning out to be a bust, they were tracking Zemo after his great escape; hence why their departure was classified. It was unknown why the once Baron of Sokovia had fled to the country, but all prior intel had supported the idea that he was searching for a partner to help finish his work, if he were to ever get caught by the American government again.
Bucky hated being away from the place that had slowly become his home. It made him feel lost, but if he wanted to remain within said area to continue his life, he had to follow Furyâs orders, or else the panel that had granted him freedom for all his past actions, may happen to change his mind.
The gig of being an avenger was more of Steveâs expertise, he was loved by the country, and had never tried to break its order down piece by piece. Before he was cleared to join the team, and the debate that lead to Steve and Tony siding against one another, he was nothing more than a tense ghost story.
All knew he was real, but most were too scared to admit that the Winter Solider was an assassinating figure in existence. To everyoneâs dismay now, following rule number two, he was no longer HYDRAâs pet weapon. He, for the first time in his life, had some kind of clarity on who he was.
His identity, was James Bucky Barnes, the White Wolf, the protector of the world and a renounced ally of Wakanda. And he was happy to be known as such, in a way, the new him cleared his red ledger, and that faded away with that damned red book.
No one had the power to control his mind again, all of his actions were now completely up to him. At first, with the reign over himself, he had been unsure on how to start with this new and invented soldier that he had become. He was no longer taking refuge behind the facade of TâChallaâs country anymore, for he was no a wanted man of the state.
But Sam enjoyed prodding at his âcyborg brainâ, driving him to certain frustration. Though, it did not matter as much, for he found the peace he had been searching for after that little bit of calm that he had experienced on his hideaway.
You. A retired avenger, that had kicked his ass, and continued to brag about it to this day, when he was under Pierceâs demeaning orders. Though, it saddened him, to have the knowledge that you no longer had the ability to pin him down on a training mat, or throw his best friendâs shield in his silent face.
There was no longer an ignition of strength to fight left within you, you were weak from the condition that had and was holding you hostage in its devastating grasp. The debts of your god deeds had wormed their way through your body, destroying it bit by bit.
Whenever he was away, missing the presence that you had once accompanied him with, he was unable but to do anything but worry about your struggling health. He feared that one day, he would get a call claiming that you had experienced a traumatic accident, and as he sat in the small and cluttered motel room, the vibrancy and life that his phone was off putting had him nervously on edge.
âItâs Fury.â He claimed to his rugged partners, putting the man that had regained control of his empire on loud speaker, awaiting for the patch wearing associate to respond to his acceptance of the call. A moment of silence had him standing, the next, caused him to pace. Steve frowned, well aware that Fury only went silent, and did not barking affirmative orders when something had happened.
That man was an absolute whore for the dramatics, he had even faked his own death on multiple accounts. There was nothing the man could fathom not to do, and this sure as hell, in the name of Goose, was not the first instance he had informed his recruits of shocking factors. Steve remembered when the dark clothed man informed him that he was in the 21st century, and to this day, it remained to be the greatest shock that he had experienced.
The second had got to be the reveal of Buckyâs survival, that heart stopping moment had gone in slow motion, as the soldat whipped his unmasked face around to face his opponents, and he was quickly recognised. You had been there to ease the confusion and the humongous shock that wired his brain. And not to mention, to soothe the wave of emotions, you had prompted at jokes at about kicking his best friendâs fine ass.
That had only been the start to a long road ahead, it had all seemed like your quad of rebelling would go on forever. Sam Wilson was your best friend, and the first to be told of your failure to continue your raids on missions, and to say that he was holding back fountains in his eyes, was a casual understatement. The Falcon had felt angry at himself for not realising the increase in coughs that fled from your sassy mouth, or how quickly you would get tired.
He put some of that blame upon himself, claiming that he should have been the first to notice the signs. It was his idea, before your struggles were revealed to anyone else, to refuse your aid on missions, which lead to conspiracies from the team. For a couple of weeks, the members that you had fought alongside for so long had speculated that you were pregnant, and even Bucky had even began to fall for that idea.
In the end, they had all wished for that to be true, a child would be a gift, whereas instead, you were bestowed with a curse. Sam had offered for you to stay with Sarah and the kids, but upon your insistence, you remained in the compound, organising files and watching cinematic classics for the thousandth time.
But anyone could see, that every time they discussed the missions, of left to endure them, your face fell, appeased by the thought that youâd never share that experience again. They all tried to distract you, Thor had even taken you on a vacation to New Asgard so that you could relax and play video games with Korg, yelling frustratedly at Noobmaster69 as the kid tried to spite your friend and his gaming skills.
That though, had not ended well, and instead, the noise had brought you insufferable pain, and you had to be taken home. But what was home anymore? You hardly felt as though you belonged upon the army of your friends, or the guardians that they were aligned with.
And so, it was very understandable why Bucky was inclined to worry. All his dragged our life, he had watched people die, or awakened from cryo to find them gone, and the split moments that he were required on missions, was another moment that he had lost with you.
He gulped as he waited for Fury to say something, anything! And when he did, he wished that he could go back in time, and stop you from ever having been an avenger. âItâs agent Y/L/N, something has happened...â
It had been hours of no news, and Stark tapped his well dressed foot. He had requested, - no, insisted the best doctors to tend to your internal and external injury, claiming that if your condition was made any worse, he would personally make sure that they never tended to another patient again.
He was not usually one to be so aggressive, but he feared loss, it was a great flaw and attribute of his. Possibly, in some peopleâs judgemental eyes, he cared too much, but he never thought so. To him, the billionaire was human, no matter what the citizens over the world thought of him.
Sure, he wore an iron suit to protect the world, but beneath all the metal, he had a heart. And heâd be damned sure that he used it, and that it beat for a purpose. Natasha and Clint were either side of him, the assassins on her phone as she read the captainâs well written message.
âTheyâve entered the country.â She spoke, referring to Sam, Bucky and Steve. It was a relief that they were going to be here soon, then theyâd all look sane in comparison to Barnes. It was doubtful that he was holding himself together well, these hours had been torture to all of them, but he had actually been tortured in multiple gruelling occasions, but it was nothing in comparison to this.
One of the countryâs best and devoted doctors opened the door to the room that you were being stabilised in, leading to all eyes waiting outside to stare hopefully at him. It was an intimidating thing, to have three avengers leaving him with one of their owns lives in his hands, he was not a hero. But to them, he was to be, they trusted him and the various recommendations that had suggested that he would be best suited to the deed.
The fact that he was the man in charge in this situation was to be great steak in his career, though, he would never be able to anyone, not even family, that he had saved the life of an avenger. Due to doctor patient confidentially, he was bribed into silence by the philanthropist himself, who was certain that he was fine for paying for the entire service himself.
Money had no importance to Tony, not as his friend was the patient that could have died. The man removed his sunglasses, sternly looking up at the kind doctor with pleading and urgent eyes, wanting to scoop every detail that he could from the eccentric medic. âHow is she?â
The doctor gulped, well aware that there was a weight apparent on his shoulders, even when delivering any news. But this, was a whole new experience, he knew that you, the woman hoisted up in the hospital bed, had saved his coursing during the battle of New York. He was grateful, for everything that you had done, but simultaneously, felt the need to be careful with any tactic that he used to save your life.
âWell,â he licked his dry lips, watching as the Black Widow herself stared into his soul, âsheâs stable, for now. And it would be okay if one of you went in, sheâs currently in the midst of waking up. However, she is going to be unable to give much in the verse of a conversation, the oxygen mask that sheâs wearing has to stay on, and it will not be a good if she tries to waste the breath sheâs being given to talk.â
He was interrupted by the sound of competent running down the hall, it was as though the men dressed in their gear ignored the no running rule. But it was understandable, seeing as Buckyâs eyes were wild and wide, as he came to a stop and asked what was going on. Clint stood, bracing a hand upon his shoulder, before informing him the details they had just been given. âI think you should be the first to see her.â
Bucky didnât argue with Clint, and instead, walked into the room, ensuring that he shut the door behind himself. He smiled painfully at the sight; there were so many tubes, and all the surrounding machines were lit up with statistics that he did not understand. Nevertheless, he looked towards the vacant seat beside your bed, and claimed it for his ass that you had once kicked.
Your eyes watched as he looked down upon you, your hands reaching to remove the mask, but he placed his hand upon your own, and replaced them to be upon your chest. âShush darling, no talking, doctorâs orders.â He spoke, rubbing your cheek with his right hand, feeling the corner of the mask against the inside of his palm.
âHad me so worried doll, thought I was gonna lose you.â At the thought, a grimace presented itself of his woeful face, and to comfort him, you placed your fingers around his own, absentmindedly playing with them as you listened to his sincere voice. âOn the way here, I spoke to Shuri, we are going to see if she can help you in anyway, as long as youâre okay with that. Does that sound good baby?â
Fluttering your eyelashes as you looked through their webbed curtain to stare lovingly at him, you nodded your head, ignoring the spiteful pains that emitted from where the glass had shallowly penetrated your scalp. âAlright, Iâll let her know. And I was thinking...â he waited for a moment to continue, being encouraged by the crease between his brow line.
âWhat if we stay in Wakanda, and we leave all this behind? We can still see people when they visit, and we can just, have some calm to ourselves. No missions, no aliens to fight, and no Zemo to chase. Or I was thinking, we go and live by Sarah, you love those kids, theyâre basically your nephews, and we could take boat rides during the middle of the night, and help the people who live there, and...â
At his rambling, you smiled beneath the plastic system that was around your mouth, listening to him talk and talk about your future together. Yes, you missed missions, but you would give all that up for a normal and easy life, with Bucky Barnes.

vote for my man napoleon solo. please ignore the fact that i exclusively refer to the film rather than the show.
here's why:
thief
blackmailed into working for the cia when caught but keeps stealing stuff anyway
calls the kgb agent "peril" the entire film because he's gay
absolute whore, keeps sleeping with people
steals everything on every single occasion. walked through a party and stole half the jewellery there
will not shut up
blorbo shaped
illya was drowning and napoleon ate some random guy's sandwich and drank his wine whilst listening to music before going and rescuing him
has stupid competitions to see who is the better spy (ie explaining the knife cut with a co2 laser only to be one-upped by illya with the co2 laser)
bragging about breaking into the vault but forgot to turn the alarm off
can cook
the way he's standing in this image
just fucking look at him
napoleon i am judging you for this so much
once realising that victoria had drugged him, he just lay down with pillows to avoid hitting his head
will not shut up
was busy discussing what to do with rudy (guy that tortured him) with illya whilst rudy was sitting on the electric chair and burning to death
upon realising that rudy had burnt to death, he said "i left my jacket in there"
once told gaby to drive a car into an alleyway too small for it, jamming the car in the air and allowing them to escape via the window
on that note, successfully snuck gaby out from behind the berlin wall
has a nickname of "cowboy" by another man
when telling victoria he was a thief she said "i hope you wear a mask" and he said "sometimes. just never when i'm stealing things."
got back to his hotel room in time to meet victoria before she caught him having been out
opinions on women's fashion because he's a Fashion Man
bugged illya then got all offended when illya bugged him
"only my mother calls me napoleon"
got victoria hit by a missile after telling her that:
"Earlier today, I killed your husband. I'd like to report that he died honourably, selflessly, and courageously. But he didn't. Instead, it was a rather pitiful affair involving tears, begging and offers to trade anything and, indeed, anyone so that I would spare his life."
victoria proceeded to threaten his and his family's life and he replied with
"I see one flaw in that plan." / "Entertain me." / "While you've been telling me how dangerous you are we've been locking onto your radio signal."
[proceeds to explain how he's going to blow her up]
convinced illya not to steal the nuclear bomb plans by having stolen and recovered illya's father's watch, with he had earlier profiled as his weakness
burnt the nuclear bomb plans with illya and gaby rather than give it to the cia
i love him
have some youtube videos as proof as to how great he is. i love him. i would both kill and die for him.
i should probably have done this for illya and gaby as well but napoleon solo is my favourite. he's the guy ever. i'm feral when i hear his name. the man from uncle (2015) is a film of three days of straight bi shenanigans and illya napoleon and gaby are a polycule. napoleon is my fave and i'm not even attracted to men
in short: please vote napoleon

Smutty Kai request!
The reader is an alternative girl so like piercings, tattoos and fishnetsâŚthe whole nine yards.
She decides to pay a visit to Kai after seeing him at a rally, sheâs been on the edge of death multiple times and is in no way afraid of dying. He tries to manipulate her in true Kai fashion but it doesnât seem to work, heâs more drawn to her than she is to him. She is not afraid of Kai in any way no matter how he threatens her, it turns her on more than anything. He ends up shoving a gun in her face only for her to suck it off.

The man continued to speak, you finding it incredibly difficult to make up the words that fell out of his lips from the thick joint you smoked earlier and the loudness of the crowd. "have a nice day." happened to be the last few set of words you were able to acknowledge, him passing you a tiny white card with a wide sympathetic smile before practically disappearing passed the huge tinted exit doors that resided in the back of the rally. Losing no time you went out of your way to read the card handed to you, it having printed out the stranger's name and address (Kai Anderson, 555 Apple st) accompanied by a bold quote stating "join me. let's take over the world"
You quickly followed your way out to him immediately after reading the card, in attempt of asking him a couple of questions. Just for Kai to be nowhere to be found, as you stood there only being surrounded by empty cars parked neatly in the parking lot.
"shit." you mumbled to yourself, before speeding off in your own car directly to the printed address, sliding the fact that going to an unknown address to meet up with unknown man was practically considered a death trap, but you of course, didn't mind it not one bit.
Soon arriving at your destination you come up against a group of middle aged men guarding the door with rifles in hand and noticeable pistols in their pants.
"hands up slut!"
"and what the fuck are you cosplaying as?"
"probably some shitty pornogaphic emo anime bitch"
"what the hell is up with you whores tgese days?"
"hey nice cheerleader skirt!"
All of their unwanted chattering drove you over the edge, as one of them dropped their weapon, ran over to you and pushed you against a nearby wall, beginning to check if you were armed yourself to clarify your entry.
"hey man check her army combat boots she might have some shit in there." another yelled out, the guy rapidly ordering you to take off your dr. marten's platforms, soon realizing you were good to go.
"what's all this bullshit for? is the president waiting for me in there?" you rhetorically questioned, causing the man infront of you to slap the right side of your face with as much force as he possibly had in him, you instantly slapping him back notwithstanding the fact that there were approximately six other armed men infront of you.
He was quick to pick up the rifle and aiming it right at your throat.
"lower the guns." you heard a familiar voice order, the men all rapidly lowering their guns at their feet in sync, all accepting the demand, replying with a firm "yes, divine ruler."
"what in the.. fuck" you once again mumbled to yourself, as you looked up at the man you've desperately been wanting to meet, him signiling you in.
He was like a king walking around in his kingdom, the black zip-up hoodie he wore slightly toning the firmness of his form accompanied by the black sweats that sagged on him just a bit, and of course the blue half up-half down that suited him delightfully. Although completely lost in his strangely unique beauty, there was nothing that could've easily taken away the curiosity that you felt from the whole scenery. From the random card, his sudden disappearance, the guards (and the fact you were technically harassed by them), to the colored pieces of tape on his fingers, and the overwhelming feeling of being there in general.
"you know its kinda dangerous driving high, right?" kai interrupted your overthinking, him filling up a glass of water and handing it to you, pointing over at a large leather black couch that stood behind you, you taking your time to take a seat. "don't you think your storm troopers are dangerous too? why do they call you 'divine ruler'? and why were they so heavily armed?". He only chuckled to your referral towards his men, heading over to take a seat beside you.
He was noticeably confident, like he owned the world and had everyone bow down to his presence. Well, but of course not everyone, not you at least. You weren't the type to submit to absolutely anyone, as you damn well knew that the idea of bowing to someone was such a pure act of disrespect to yourself, you unwilling of allowing anyone to feel superior over you being a present mental note.
Kai though, feeling like the king himself had such so many sociopathic traits written all over his face, he seemed cold, eyes full of darkness and evil, not one sign of emotion in them, not happy, not sad, not angry, nothing, there was absolutely nothing, like a robot attempting on mimicking its way out to identify as a human.
"you're not drinking the water I gave you." you heard him voice beside you, applying a slight pressure ontop of your netted thigh, you quickly meeting your gaze with his emotionless ones.
"im not really thirsty." you returned a reply, staring blankly into his eyes, just for him to break the eye contact, heading his eyes onto his right lap.
"it was to cool off your high a bit, im not interested in your thirstiness." Kai replied coldly, returning his gaze from yours back to his lap, repeatedly.
You only observed how he allowed all of his weight to sink into the couch, accommodating one of his hands behind his head whilst the other reached in between your thighs to grab the glass of water you've declined. Sipping on it quickly, you watched how a few drops dripped down from his mouth leading on to his chin and finally onto himself.
"Food shouldn't be declined, y/n." you felt anderson suddenly interrupt your thirsty gaze on him, his knowledge on your name making your eyes widen. "how the fuck do you know my name?" you quickly respond to his statement, eyeing how he playfully fidgeted with his locs, purposely ignoring you. "I said how the fuck do you know my name!?" you yelled out this time, producing his playful fidgeting to be replaced by an angry frown.
"who the fuck are you yelling at, little shit!?" he raised his voice back at you, getting up from his comfortable stance to eye you down better.
Mimicking his position now, you got up and stood infront of him, the platform of your martin's reaching up to his height, you two eyeing eachother a few inches away from each others' faces now, his infuriatedďżź, and yours stonely calm.
"Im not afraid of you, Kai Anderson."
"You should get to know me, i'll give you a reason to be."
"I doubt it."
"Oh yeah?"
Anderson only smirked to your rebelliousness and unzipped his zip-up all the way down, demonstrating the pistol he had digged deep into his pants, apart from his fitted body. Your eyes only traveled down his form, the gun in his pants, the band of his calvin clein's, and his v-line, all being your favorite combination on a man.
"Was that supposed to scare me?" you allowed your rebelliousness drive him over the edge, as he now choked slammed you onto the couch you stood infront of, pulling out the gun he had digged in his pants, aiming it fiercely onto your face.
You only giggled to his triggered self, causing him to choke you harder now, you feeling your breathing intensify with every breath you took.
"why-y are you bei-ng s-uch an ash-hole?" you stumbled in between your words, the smile not for once leaving your face, as you looked up at the man who hated nothing more than a woman feeling superior, knowing her worth and not taking bullshit from anyone. You now tried fighting back just for Kai to apply more pressure, pressing the gun closer to your face, him breathingly holding the gun and your neck down.
"don't make me fucking kill you, y/n!" he shouted, pushing the gun closer and closer onto your face, as you eyed the gun and him repeatedly, deciding to part your lips, pushing your head closer to the weapon, allowing it to enter your mouth, for you to now deepthroat it fully.
Feeling his hand loosen around your neck you couldn't help but to dampen yourself from the feeling of his bulge growing ontop of you along with his bottom lip slipped in between his teeth, whispering
"i need to know what it feels like to be inside you.."

Upset Plans
The phone rang, disturbing her and she sighed, knowing who it was, knowing what they wanted.
âHello?â
She was ready for bed. Sat curled up on the sofa, a cup of tea in hand and the television filling the silence in the room like ambient chatter in a restaurant. Comfortable.
âWhat did you ask him to do?â
She didnât want to drive back to Highgrove but theyâd never rung her before when it wasnât necessary. She knew she was the last resort. She slumped down whilst she listened to their explanation. The room was the perfect temperature. Warm enough to sit in ease but cool enough to wrap a blanket around her knees and feel snug.
âDoes it ever occur to you, when you know full well he doesnât deal well with change, to give him more warning?â
This was a classic case of bad management and she listened to the protests down the line with disinterest. Did they enjoy distressing him? Was that why they were so inept at breaking bad news to him in a sensitive way? Why was it always her job to calm him down when theyâd triggered him?
âYes, yes. Iâm on my way. I warn you though, Iâm in my pyjamas and I have no intention of getting changed and getting him to agree with you. Iâm coming to calm him down, thatâs all.â
She listened to the protestations with half an ear and the beginnings of annoyance triggering a fierce need to protect him.
âIâm absolutely not telling him to get in the car and drive to London tonight⌠No⌠Because itâs not important enough⌠Perhaps... Ask him tomorrow. He might want to. You know what heâs like. He might feel like he shouldâŚâ
She took a sip of her tea with apprehension building in her stomach.
âIs that my wife? Are you talking to my wife?â She heard the words bellowed through the phone as though he was shouting directly into it.
âTrying to manipulate me through my own wife! I wonât be managed. Tell her to mind her own business.â
âTell him Iâm on my way and if he dares to talk to me like that heâs got another thing coming.â
She smiled, imagining his private secretary debating whether or not to convey her message. He was in a catch-22. Facing either her wrath or her husbandâs. His more explosive, hers more dangerous. She imagined heâd gamble on her not finding out and made a mental note to find out. And let him know. It was always good to keep men like him on his toes.
She phoned for her driver and shuffled in her slippers to the door to wait for the car, deciding along the way to exchange her dressing gown to a more substantial one. White and fluffy was perhaps not the order of the day. Who knew how long sheâd be up with him and who would be there. She couldnât count the number of times she had done this over the years. Sheâd tried a multitude of strategies. In the early days, she tried to control him with sex, tried to reason with him, tried to trivialise the issue, unconditionally backed him up, sided against him to shame him, ignored him, punished him, comforted him. Eventually, sheâd realised she didnât need to do anything. He just needed her with him. He just needed to have her there for his emotions to retreat from the battle they were fighting. She calmed him down because he loved her and he wanted to be calm for her.
Tonight was no different. Except she was annoyed with his staff for being insensitive towards him. The likelihood was, that once sheâd calmed him down, heâd want to travel to London there and then, leaving her behind, like usual.
He was really distressed. She heard him before she saw him, shouting still at his staff. The shouting continued as she walked into the room.
âSo you didnât think it was enough to bother me? You had to disturb my wife, make her come here to do your bidding? Sheâs ready for bed! Look at her. Shame on you! And Camilla? You side with them?â
âPlease leave us.â
That caused more than a few wide eyed looks as they scuttled from the room like ants. He was angry, yes, but she looked at his face and saw he was hurt and tired too.
âIâve not come to side with them, Darling.â
âWell do you think I should go? Are you going to persuade me to go?â
âNo. You can do what you like. I came because I could hear how upset you were.â
He was pacing up and down the room, not looking at her. âItâs just unreasonable!â
âYes. It is.â
âItâs so late.â
âI know. Iâm in my nightgown.â
That made him look at her but didnât have the reaction she expected.
âThey disturb you too! If I donât do what they want, they bother you. Itâs not acceptable. Itâs manipulation.â
âDarling, Iâm perfectly capable of saying no.â
âNo youâre not. Youâre here. You shouldnât have toâŚâ
âIâm here for you. Not them. Are you not going to kiss me to greet me?â
He moved towards her dutifully and grasped her forearms to kiss her cheeks.
âReally? Thatâs how you greet me?â
He moved away in a sulk. âYou donât want to kiss me. I can tell.â
âGreet me properly, Charles. Iâm your wife, not your mother.â
âYouâre only here because they wanted you to deal with me.â
âIâm only here, cantankerous husband of mine, because youâre upset and I love you and I want to make you feel better.â
âSee, even you canât stand me.â
âCome and kiss me. If I couldnât stand you, I wouldnât be asking you to kiss me, would I?â
âYou mightâŚâ
He was so sullen she almost smiled. Already, his temper was calmed. He didnât quite dare to shout at her and the forced control helped him. âCharlesâŚPhilipâŚArthurâŚGeorgeâŚâ She said the names with affection and he looked at her before deciding to stop fighting and walked across to kiss her. He needed the kiss more than her. She knew that. It was forceful but brief. It made her heart pang a little in compassion for him. âTell me what happened.â
That set off the pacing again and with his voice raised, but not as uncontrolled as before, he told her what had happened. She listened to him, as she had done a hundred times before, splutter through the perceived insults and indignities. She watched his puffy face calm from its angry red to a softer pink.
âWhat must you think of me?â
She was sat down on the small sofa by this point, listening to the argument circle round and round without much more of a comment than a nod and a murmur to encourage him to continue. Now she patted the seat next to her and he padded over obediently. âI think youâre a wonderful man. Iâm so sad that youâre feeling so upset. I want to wrap you in my arms and tell you everything is going to be okay.â
âIâm sorry.â
Her heart twinged. This was usually the difficult part. The part where he became wracked with guilt and feelings of inadequacy. Those really tender moments where he needed her to remind him that he was a positive force in the world, that his life had value. Sometimes, he was standoffish with her, not believing her words, feeling so ashamed of himself that he didnât believe he deserved her. Today, she grasped his hand as he sat down and although there was no returning pressure, he didnât pull away from her. That gave her a hand to stroke, to gently mess with, as her words of encouragement took hold in his brain. It was always upsetting for her to see him like this. So sad and broken. Eventually, he sunk against her and she wrapped her arms about him in relief, whispering love into his ear, kissing his head gently.
âThank God I have you.â
âYou fought for me, Darling. You made it happen.â
âI canât imagine my life without you.â
âYou donât have to. Iâm not going anywhere. Youâre stuck with me.â
âGood.â
âSo youâll have to put up with me.â
âWe both know itâs the other way around. Iâm sorry you have to put up with me.â
âI donât put up with you. I love you. Thereâs a very big difference.â
âI know you do. Iâm so lucky. Iâm privileged to have you with me. Youâre everything. I love you so much. I do. And I appreciate you. And you have to suffer my dreadful temper. Iâm sorry.â
âDarling, itâs all for love. Nothing more, nothing less.â
âIâm so tired.â
âWell I want to finish off watching my programme. Why donât we head to the living room and we can sit together on the sofa and if youâre really lucky, Iâll let you lie down and Iâll scratch your head. She pushed her nose gently against his and felt his lips press against hers.
âSounds really wonderful.â
Sitting with his head on her lap, looking up at her, she felt the television programme fade into the background. Her fingers loosely tangled in his short hair and tousled it slightly. Her nails ran gently against his scalp. The movement was soporific and his eyes kept drooping and shutting. He was so calm now but she tried to ignore the niggling worry about him driving to London. If she managed to get him to fall asleep, heâd have to stay here with her. Seeing his eyes looking up at her again, she brought her fingers to her lips and kissed them before pressing the same two fingers against his lips. His eyes closed as he pushed a kiss against her fingertips. He was so gentle and loving, he hardly seemed the same man from a couple of hours ago. Lying safely with her, protected by her, loved by her. Once upon a time, they needed to make love to one another to feel so close. Now, the comfort of living with their acceptance of every facet of each otherâs quirk and personality trait, their understanding of each other, was as intimate as any love making and certainly longer lasting. It was a passion for each other which grew without any warning and lacked any of the jealousies attached to desire. It made the mundane repetitions of work and duty joyful. The way he checked his cuffs before he started to speak. The enthusiasm he conjured for dealing with greeting crowds of people. The way his forehead frowned as he read a book. All those precious insights about him she stored in her mind and treasured. It turned an ordinary conversation into a radiating contentment and any shared glance into such a warm pleasure.
âBefore you fall to sleep here, what do you want to do?â
âWhat do you think I should do?â
âNo, Darling, your decision.â
âIâm asking for your opinion.â
âI think you should wake early and decide then. Give yourself time to get there if you feel that you need to then.â
âThatâs what I shall do then. See you did come to tell me what to do!â
She smiled, not rising to the provocation. âYes. You should know that by now.â She paused. âShame you ignore my advice most of the time.â
âI know itâs always with my best interests at heart. I might not always wish to act upon it however.â
âI know, Darling.â
âI should go tonight, shouldnât I?â
She sighed, audibly, and ignored the question. On the one hand, she loved that she was the person who could calm him so he could return to his duty, on the other, she was never a pull great enough away from his work.
âPlease come with me.â
She sighed again. âCan I meet you there tomorrow?â
âThen I donât get to hold your hand in the car.â
âThen I donât need to get dressed and style my hair.â
âIâm sorry, Darling, that was a little selfish.â
âIâll come with you if you want me to?â
âNo, Darling. You go to sleep. I donât know how long itâs going to take anyway. I donât want you sat around waiting.â
âWeâre having dinner at your sonâs tomorrow evening. Iâll see you then.â
âIâll meet you in the drawing room an hour before?â
âCoffee and a catch up?â
âI might need something stronger.â
âI can arrange that.â
âI donât want to ring the bell.â
âI havenât forgotten, by the way, that you told me to mind my own business.â
âI didnât say that to you. I wouldnât actually dare to talk to you like that.â
âI heard you say it.â
âWell what âother thing comingâ have I got then?â
âOh, he did relay my words. What did you say?â
âNothing really. Spluttered out angry words. Please donât punish me for it.â
âIâve not done anything.â
âYouâre thinking about it.â
âWhen have I ever been cruel?â
âYouâve refused to kiss me.â
âYou did that earlier.â
âIâm sorry. Iâm so sorry. I will make it up to you.â
âI know.â She smiled down at him but he was still frowning.
âYouâve also refused to look at me. That was the worst.â
âThat was different.â She wondered what had triggered that memory.
âI know. You acted normal in public and then turned to stone in private. It was awful. I thought Iâd lost you.â
âIt was a long time ago.â
âIâd linger at each engagement we went to because it was the only time youâd deem to talk to me.â
âI was angry with you.â
âYou were making a point too.â
âYou shouldnât have treated me like that.â
âI know.â
âItâs the only time in our whole lives Iâve ever felt you didnât care about me.â
âIâm still sorry.â
âGood.â
It was that which had made her decide to give him the cold shoulder. It had been shortly after she had broken her leg, after the cast was off but whilst she was still in a lot of pain. Heâd not noticed and heâd not been sympathetic when she struggled to get about. She could see he was annoyed with her for not keeping up with him and eventually it came to a head. Theyâd had a massive row and heâd said that she was exaggerating and work shy. Her response wasnât restrained. Then, there was a painful disconnect, where heâd thought that the argument was the end of the matter whereas for her it was the final straw. It turned out to be the worst few weeks of their entire marriage.
âI had nobody to talk to.â
She stroked the side of his face, her eyes looking down at him concerned. âI know. Iâm sorry.â
âNever again.â
âNo. We promised.â They had promised to talk about the things which upset them. They had promised never to let things get that bad again. They had both kept their promises, the memory still a painful deterrent. Suddenly, she didnât want him travelling all that way on his own. He wouldnât ask her to come again, respecting her choice, but that didnât mean he would prefer her to stay here and to drive alone, without her. âDarling, Iâll come with you to London.â
âNo you wonât.â
âIâll just put on shoes and a coat and I can sneak into Clarence House no problem.â
âYou donât have to. And I know you donât want to.â
That was fear. Fear that she was going to do something which wouldnât make her happy. And heâd worry that he had made her do something she didnât want to do and would resent him for it. She bent her shoulders so she was hovering closer to his face. âI want to sit with you in the car, holding your hand. I want to listen to your Siegfried Idyll sitting in the back, in the dark, and remember that wonderful morning with you.â
âI love you.â
âBecause I spoil you.â
âYes. That helps. But Iâd love you anyway. I love you much more now than I loved you then. And at that point, I wouldnât have believed I could ever love you more. But I know you so much better now.â
âThe more I get to know you, the more I love you. Thatâs always been the case.â
âI thought I loved you almost from the moment we met. After six months, I knew I loved you.â
âYou should have told me.â
âYou would have run a mile.â
âI wouldnât. And then we would have had longer to spend getting to know one another. We would have gotten to this point sooner.â
âYou have a much more romantic view of love than me. You needed to lose me to realise you loved me. I donât think you truly loved me until that point.â
âI would have learnt to love you.â
âI would have married you knowing you didnât love me. Hoping you one day would. Instead I got to marry you knowing you will love me to hell and back several times over. I might fantasise that things could have been different but that⌠how could I ever want to swap that?â
âWould I have been enough for you back then?â
âYes. I think I loved you enough back then to never consider anyone else. Would I have been enough for you? Thatâs more the question. I donât think I would.â
âYou would.â
âPossibly. What would you have done if I slept with someone else back then?â
âCried.â
âAnd now?â
âKill you. And then die of a broken heart.â
âGood. I also got to marry you knowing that will never be something either of us need to worry about.â
âBecause weâd both be dead?â
He chuckled up at her. âThatâs not what I was meaning, no.â
âI wonder what theyâd do to me if I killed you?â
âPut you in prison for murder?â
âDo I not have diplomatic immunity?â
âFor murdering me? I imagine theyâd put you in a mad house actually.â
âIâd not be insane. If I murdered you, youâd deserve it.â
âWould you prefer to be tortured in the tower?â
âYes. That would make for a much more interesting history lesson. Move over Anne Boleyn. Sheâd have nothing on me!â
âIâm sure that could be arranged.â Then he laughed. A chuckle which grew to a full bellied laugh and she joined in, her shoulders bobbing with her laughter. âOkay, Darling, help me up and we can ring the bell.â
âIf I put on a hat, I donât even need to think about my hair.â She pulled him up and he sat next to her, one hand encasing hers as he rang the bell and she smiled, recognising how he sat up straight in preparation, feeling the slight squeeze over her hand which expressed his thanks, savouring the soft kiss against her hair, knowing heâd be breathing her in, her heart warm with all those little insights to him.

Hi, I really, REALLY love your writing, you're a amazing writer and I just want you to know it (ب_ب)âĄ
I don't know if you're up to, or if you did it before, but, can I request a female reader poly relationship with Armin and Eren? đđ If you've done this or are uncomfortable doing it, you can ignore this request
You're so sweet! Thank you so much ŘŞđ
And I haven't actually written something like this before so no worries you're the first! It doesn't make me uncomfortable at all, although I appreciate you checking first, thank youđ
Hmm since this is a poly, I guess it'll classify as a valid Eren x reader fic, welp gotta make him his own catorgy now.
Being in a Poly relationship with Armin and Eren HC
{ Armin x reader x Eren | tw:none | fluff | Modern }
{ "What's Behind the Door" by Hans Zatzka 1859-1945 }
You're the middle spoon most of the time. Armin prefers being the little spoon and burying himself against your chest before falling asleep, while Eren likes feeling you in his arms and just pulling you so close against him. On rare times they switch positions.
As a result, you wake up with the two of them wrapped around you. Good luck getting up with how grumpy Eren is in the morning.
Talking about Eren, he enjoys listening to you and Armin talk in general. It could be about anything from the weather to a book or even complaining about him and he'll just sit between you two and relax. It makes him feel at peace.
You're his safe place when the world gets too much, he could just hug you impossibly close to him before closing his eyes while you and Armin hang out.
In fact he enjoys watching you two do anything together, even mondaine thing like help Armin detangle his hair in the morning. Oh no, he won't help, but he will sit next to you and observe even if it means he too will be late to work.
Eren is one of those people who get out of bed, mess their hair a bit and then have perfect hair somehow. He could just tie it back and it'll look so good despite being effortless.
Armin likes how playful you and Eren can get, how much he teases you and how you answer back. Especially when the two of you are trying to make him pick sides and back one of you up, he acts innocent but in reality he's looking for a bribe.
Armin also enjoys how Eren is mostly down to his adventures and even looks forward to them, it also means convincing you to tag along will be easier and the three of you will have so much fun.
He also feels more confident and bold when both of you are by his side, his usual anxieties and worries getting drowned out by your voices and presence. Plus both of your assurance are a huge boost to his ego, he can actually tease back if pushed hard enough.
Be warned, a smug cocky Armin is a...dangerous one.
I'm not saying you and Eren will get roasted but...
The three of you live in Armin's place actually, since with his grandpa away in the farm, he has the whole apartment to himself.
Eren still visits his mom on the weekends tho, will drag you two along, she bakes you pie and sends you home with cookies.
Eren is just a completely opposite person in front of his mom, you and Armin can get away with almost anything in front of her.
It's actually Armin who plans dates for the three of you , picnics, arcades, beach trips, diners.
They actually enabler each other a lot, being best friends and all. A lot of times Armin would just get Eren to drag you into places or ideas he has and a lot of times Eren will get Armin to convince you that yes spending money on expensive shoes is a good investment.
They keep a tap on each other.
You have no idea the amount of things Eren broke by accident and Armin was quick to replace before you notice. Or the many times Armin almost backed away from showing you things he wrote or got for you wasn't it for Eren encouraging him.
Eren is really protective, for both of you actually. He makes sure no one is bothering you and always steps in whenever you're uncomfortable
Armin is really considerate, he knows both of your preference and a lot of small details. He takes your emotions into consideration and always has a plan B and knows just the right words to say.
The problem is that both of them are extremely jealous people who don't know how to deal with it.
For real, Armin would seem sad and distante while Eren will be passive aggressive. And all of that just because you told Connie you liked his shirt or laughed at something Sasha said.
They act like kicked puppies, and won't ever admit to being jealous they just look at you with puppy eyes till you pay them the same attention too.
Drama queens, both of them. Will whine and sulk if your attention leaves them for a second.
Armin has a special nickname for each one of you, while Eren goes for the typical "babe" and looks at both of you making you try to guess "which one?"
Armin likes holding your hand and kissing you cheek, Eren prefers wrapping an arm around you and kissing your neck.
Both of them are big on physical affaction, expect a lot of greeting and goodbye kisses also being pulled into a hug or to sit near someone at random times.
Armin likes taking pictures of you, together or each by their own. He keeps them in a scrapbook that you help him make, Eren tries to find the best spots for him to photograph.
While Eren plays Videgames, he likes having you and Armin by his side. Even if you're not playing with him he'll just enjoy looking at your direction whenever he preforms really well like a kid looking for praise.
They have really different taste in food, movies and dates. Despite that they rarely argue or fight about It, since they've known each other for so long they learned how to compromise.
Lowkey each of them still tries to pull you to like the things they do so you'll take sides.
Even if you're not around, they will talk about you between them. Just how gorgeous you looked today and how adorable that outfit looked on you.
Actually both of them have you alone as their lockscreen, even whilst having a lot of pictures of the three of them together, they just like it this way.
Both are also big on public affaction so don't expect the pampering to stop just because you're outside.
They're just so comfortable with each other and when you came along they had absolutely no problem in sharing you, actually they even prefered because the other is the only person they'd trust with you.
They also don't mind when one of them takes you on a private date just the two of you alone, just give the other a heads up and maybe bring them a snack or something.
You prefer romantic cozy dates? Armin would love to share his softest blanket with you under the fairylights while sharing a milkshake or your favourite drink and watching a romantic comedy sitcom.
And the next day, Eren would take you to his favourite restaurant before going to the arcades or cinema after. Drive around in the car while listening to music and occasionally stopping at really nice spots to enjoy the view.
Maybe the three of you could go to a waterpark and Eren would attempt the really high dives while Armin just happily floats around in the water.
Or maybe going to the beach and watching them put actual effort and planning into making a good sandcastle, Armin collecting the seashells while Eren gets the sand.
Being in a relationship with them means you'll get the best of both worlds yet never get bored or feel alone. They have really different tastes yet are so similar at the same time, you'll truely feel loved and cared for.

Tear You To Pieces, Chapter 4

The day that Kelly had been waiting for finally arrived just over a week later. She was finally recovered enough from the attack, aside from still a few bruises and superficial cuts.
Stark felt bad for not leaving protection with her on the jet. She kept telling him it was ok. Loki kept telling him he told him so and he was foolish for putting her in danger. Which wasnât doing Loki any favours in getting in the Avengers good books.
Kelly so wanted to tell Maria that she had a date. But she needed to keep quiet, not wanting to upset Loki. He had asked her not to tell anyone, so she wasnât going to break her promise to him.
So she got ready on her own, after making an excuse to the others that she was feeling a bit iffy so wanted an early night. Once she was dressed and had her hair and make-up sorted, she sneaked out of her room and made her way down to the back entrance to meet Loki.
He was already there waiting for her. Her heart beat quickened when she saw him. He was so handsome, wearing a suit, black trousers and jacket with a white shirt and a black tie. It wasnât often he wore mortal clothes but when he did, it was always with such style.
Lokiâs smile grew larger as he looked Kelly up and down. She was deliberately wearing a green dress underneath her leather jacket. Her pulse quickened at the look in Lokiâs eyes as she approached him.
âWhy, you look absolutely ravishing, my dear.â Loki purred and picked up her hand to kiss the back of it politely, making her blush.
âThank you. You look really handsome.â She said shyly.
âThank you, pet. Had to look my best for you.â He winked at her, then he offered her his arm and she accepted, slipping her hand around his arm he led her out of the building to an awaiting taxi.
On the drive to the restaurant Loki had picked, casual chat had Kelly at much more ease and she actually forgot she was on a date with the God of lies and mischief, an ex-villain. She felt so relaxed and comfortable around him.
Loki hopped out of the taxi first and rushed round the car to open her door for her when they arrived. He helped her out too, then slipped his arm around her and they headed inside. Heâd booked a nice table by the window at the back, looking out to a nice garden.
âThis is so lovely. Thank you, Loki.â Kelly smiled as she sat down, Loki of course tucked her chair in for her after helping her with her jacket.
âI only wish I had asked you out sooner.â Loki said sheepishly.
They got some wine over to the table, then ordered their food. Kelly just hoped she would actually be able to eat something, she felt so nervous and excited, her stomach was all over the place. But the wine did help to settle her a bit.
âI must ask, are you wearing my colours on purpose or is it a happy coincidence?â Loki asked, smirking.
Kelly looked like a deer caught in the headlights. âUhm⌠I⌠on purpose.â She said shyly, downing a big gulp of wine.
Loki chuckled. âWell, I am honoured.â
Loki asked about Kellyâs life, about her upbringing. He shared a little of himself too, about growing up on Asgard with Thor. She was glad he was opening up to her.
âDid you tell anyone about our date?â Loki asked in the middle of their meal.
âNo, I didnât. I wanted to tell Maria, but I kept quiet.â Kelly said honestly.
Loki nodded and looked at her warmly. âGood girl. Itâs for the best.â
Kellyâs face went bright red as she suddenly became very flustered. She quickly reached for her wine and took a few sips to try and hide her face. Loki was a little confused at first, but then it clicked.
Good girl⌠She had a praise kink? He was sure of it.
Grinning slightly while he kept on eating, not wanting to make a big deal of it and spook her, he noted that information away in his mind. That could come in very handy indeed.
Luckily for Kelly, he changed the subject swiftly. Saving her from further embarrassment.
âHave you had many boyfriends?â Loki asked. She was a lovely woman, for a mortal. He was surprised she didnât have a boyfriend currently. Â
âIâve dated a few people over the years, but nothing ever became⌠official.â She shrugged after wiping her mouth with her napkin. She had managed to eat more than she thought she would, luckily.
âIâm surprised no one has snatched you up yet. Youâre a wonderful woman, Kelly.â Loki said, making her smile giddily.
âI just⌠I get attached quite easily. I uhm, I learned my lesson from the first guy I dated four years ago. He hurt me pretty bad, so I am trying not to fall so hard so quickly. Itâs made me a little more guarded.â
Loki nodded in understanding. âIâm sorry to hear that, darling. Love and trust are such fragile things, not something to be taken for granted. I know it has to be earned. Hopefully, I can prove that I might be worthy of at least your time, perhaps more.â
Kellyâs heart melted completely at his words.
He was such a sweet talker. His silver tongue one of his best abilities and one he was always very much thankful for. One that couldnât be taken away from him.
They didnât leave straight after finishing their meal. They had a few more glasses of wine first, Kelly was happily tipsy. Loki barely even felt tipsy, mortal alcohol didnât affect him in the same way. He would need to drink a few bottles of wine before even feeling slightly tipsy.
After the meal when they were ready to leave, there was a car waiting outside to take them home. Loki opened the door for Kelly and helped her in, then he sat in the middle seat so he could be right next to her, their thighs pressed together, making her blush.
Loki turned more towards her on the drive home and he stroked her cheek softly with the back of his hand. âYou are so beautiful.â He hummed.
Kelly smiled shyly as he slid his hand down and gently held her chin.
He licked his lips a little as he leaned in, but he paused a moment and looked deep into her eyes. âMay I kiss you, darling?â He asked so sweetly.
Kelly felt her heart swelling that he was so sweetly asking permission just to kiss her.
âOf course! I mean, yes⌠yes.â She blushed hard, trying not to seem too over eager. But Loki didnât seem to mind as he grinned and closed the distance to plant his lips upon hers, his hand slid round to the back of her head to hold her closely. Not that she would want to move away from him, anyway.
She felt like time had stopped as he kissed her gently, his lips were so soft and cool against her. He moved them slowly, moulding with hers. Her entire world was turned upside down, she had dreamed of kissing him for so long now, she never thought it would actually happen. But now it was, it was even better than she had imagined.
Kelly could only hope it was the start of many.
-
Later that night, Loki decided to pay her another visit in the middle of the night.
She was sound asleep when he manifested in her room. He was silent as he slowly walked towards her sleeping form in bed. It was quite warm so she had the blanket thrown off her, wearing nothing but a night gown and knickers.
He smirked as he reached the side of her bed. He leaned over her and pressed his palm to her forehead, seeping into her dreams. It was easy, considering Loki was already someone she dreamt and thought about a lot. He wasnât surprised to find some rather naughty dreams and fantasies about him in her mind.
Using that to his advantage, he manipulated her mind. Making sure she would remain asleep, but also so he could have some form of control over her dreams.
She parted her lips and whispered out his name. Thatâs when he moved his hand down underneath her night gown and he stroked softly over her abdomen before moving downwards into her knickers. She squirmed a little in her sleep, whimpering softly when his large hand just cupped her at first.
Loki kept his movements steady and careful. He knew his powers werenât as strong as they should be, so he didnât want to make a mistake.
Going slow, he slid his fingers through her folds and had to bite back a growl when he discovered she was already getting aroused. Using that to his advantage, he trailed some wetness up over her clit and rubbed it in circles. She started moaning more in her sleep, calling out his name again too.
This is far too easy. Loki thought with a wicked grin as he used his thumb on her clit and began inserting a single finger into her. But he was met with quite a bit of resistance at first, until he managed to ease his way into her with more stimulation on her clit.
âHow interesting.â He whispered, his cock hardening in his trousers at the realisation she was still a virgin. She was so impossibly tight, even around his slender finger.
She squirmed a little, frowning. âNo, please⌠feels weird.â She whined.
Loki rubbed her clit firmer, while wiggling his finger inside her. Whilst it felt weird for her, he could feel her clamping around his digit in arousal. But her movements were becoming a bit more insistent.
Then her eyes suddenly flew open, but Loki had been able to vanish just a mere second before that. He cursed himself for not being able to hold his powers better, he really needed to get them back properly.
Kelly was breathing hard and a bit sweaty as she turned her light on. She had been so sure that someone, Loki, had actually been there and was touching her. But there was no sign of him at all. And her door was locked, so she knew it couldnât have been him.
âThat was some vivid dream.â She muttered to herself and wiped her sweaty brow with the back of her hand.
Even though she felt aroused and uncomfortable between her thighs, she kept telling herself she had just dreamt it. Though it took her heart a while to stop racing.

|PART ONE| |PART TWO|
A low whistle came from Woods as Adler stumbled backward, groaning in pain as he clutched his jaw with a deep chuckle.
Mason winced at the sound, his eyes flickering between both you and Adler with a worried gleam. Adler huffed, standing tall and giving you a deadly glare. âItâs nice to see you too-â
You surged forward, ready to attack the fucking prick and release all of the rage you had built up over the last four months, but Mason was quicker. Faster than you thought humanly possible, he appeared by your side and wrapped his arms around your waist, hauling you away from the scene whilst Woods apprehended Adler. Once you were a safe distance away, Mason released you only to spin you around and place his hands on your shoulders. âHey, hey calm down...â He soothed, smiling softly as your wild and furious eyes met his own. They shone with unshed tears as he pulled you into a tight embrace, burying his face into the crook of your neck.
You didnât know how to react, taken aback by his sudden display of affection. Despite the fact that he knew what had been done to you all those months ago, and even though he looked at you with sadness and pity, he still treated you like you were one of their own. The fact that you had once worked for Perseus didnât matter. Everyone had their reasons, he didnât agree with brainwashing you, that was something he absolutely hated. He hated lying to people he cared about. You returned Masonâs embrace, sighing into his shoulder as a way to relieve your anger.
âWe all thought you were dead...â He whispered, tightening his hold around you âwhen Woods and I found out that Adler had shot you, we left the teamâ.
You pulled away from him, stepping back to look him up and down with an expression of confusion. âIf you left, then why did you come back?â You asked quietly, tilting your head to the side in wait for his answer. Mason grinned, âBecause we wanted to do you justice. You got us to Perseus the first time, and you helped us even though the CIA took away who you were, and you helped us even though we all lied to you. So we both thought we owed it to you to put a stop to Perseus once and for allâ.
You felt your heart swell with mixed emotions, feelings you hadnât felt in a long time. Your gaze fell to the floor as you released a long sigh, before lifting your gaze to stare across the room. Adler was already looking at you when you turned, there was something dark hidden behind his blank expression, something sombre yet guilty. You hoped he felt guilty at least.
Woods began to approach, a happy skip in his step as he left Adler to his own devices. âHoly shit, Bell. Iâll make a mental note that you can survive literally anything that is thrown at youâ He teased, wrapping you in a warm embrace of his own. You returned the gesture, chuckling lightly before pulling away with a warm smile. He held you at arms length, looking you up and down with a fond expression. He patted your shoulder âItâs good to have you backâ He spoke lowly, to which you nodded slightly in response.
Looking over Woodâs shoulder, your eyes met Adlerâs once again. In fact, you didnât think his eyes ever left your form. Carefully, you moved around Woods, half expecting the man to wrap his arm around you and stop you mid stride. But when he didnât, you approached the man across the room with heavy and reluctant steps. When you stood before him, you had to force yourself to look up at him, through those aviators he wore and into his eyes. Even in the small time you had known him, Adler had always been a mystery. He was the type of leader that always kept to himself, never shared his thoughts with anyone. Until now.
You could see through his facade, through those sunglasses he used as a front to hide what was going on beneath. Though he tried to appear stern and authorative, deep down, there was something he wasnât saying. Something that made you want to ask him-
A loud alarm blared through the bunker, red flashing lights gleaming brightly throughout various locations of the room. Adler huffed, shaking his head angrily. âFuck, we need to go. Nowâ He ordered, giving you a small nod before moving towards Woods and Mason. You followed a short distance behind, the four of you now ascending the stairs leading out of the bunker. It was no easy task, trying to sneak out of the base while everyone was on high alert. But it wasnât impossible.
The four of you made it out of the base relatively unscathed, making it to the jeep you had hidden atop one of the ridges without further hassel. With Adler in the passenger seat and Woods and Mason in the back, it made for a very awkward drive back into town. The cut on your arm stung painfully, you winced at the smallest movements. And of course, the man beside you just had to notice. âYouâre hurtâ Adler spoke lowly, his tone somewhat concerned, but more stating the obvious. You pursed your lips, wanting nothing more than to reach the safety of Viktorâs house faster. âIâm fine...â You replied shortly, turning left and taking the dirt path up to the house âitâs just a flesh woundâ.
âIt doesnât look like one-â
âDid I ask for your opinion?â You quipped, harshly bringing the car to a stop. Ignoring Woods and Mason groaning in annoyance in the background, you turned to glare at Adler, your eyes narrowing dangerously. Adler held your glare, his chest rising and falling as his annoyance no doubt grew. With a long roll of your eyes, you removed the keys from the ignition and quickly jumped out of the car, slamming the door closed behind you with a violent âthudâ. The others followed suit, closing theur doors a little more gently before joining you at the top of the stairs on the small wooden terrace.
Viktor had left the door unlocked, in the hopes of your eventual return. You smiled faintly at his kindness. Walking into the house, you were immediately met with the concerned expression of the old man, his mood quickly changing when he spied the three men standing in the threshold. âFriends of yours?â He questioned, his eyes now examining your form with a somewhat judgemental look on his features. You turned around to face the three men, finding Mason waving awkwardly in Viktorâs direction with a light chuckle.
Nevertheless, he old man beckoned them inside. Mason entered first, followed by Woods, who mumbled a complimentary ânice placeâ as he walked past you into the living room. And last, of course, was Adler. After closing the door behind him, Adler let his gaze wander around the interior of the house, studying the off-white walls and the wooden furniture, before returning his attention to your form. His eyes remained focused on the large bloodstain on your chest, the whole in the fabric a reminder to him of the damage he had done.
After an extensive silence, Adler cleared his throat âWe should talk, about what happened tonight-â
âNo, not now...â Viktor suddenly interrupted, moving to stand beside you in a supportive manner. When Adler opened his mouthto protest, Viktor stopped him once again. âYou are all exhausted, and injured. Some more than others...â He gave you a pointed look, one which you responded by poking out your tongue childishly â...there will also no doubt be soldiers looking for you. You will not talk tonight, but tomorrow, when all is safeâ.
Begrudgingly, Adler agreed, his shoulders sagging heavily with exhaustion. Viktor clapped victoriously, before offering to show the three men to a room they could use for the night. As Woods and Mason followed Viktor upstairs, you disappeared into the kitchen to retrieve the medical supplies that were kept in the cupboard above the stove. Managing to retrieve a spare bandage, medical tape and disinfectant, you trudged over to the table and collapsed into one of the chairs with a loud sigh. Carefully removing your long-sleeved shirt and tossing it to the side, you figured that perhaps it was time to throw the torn and bloody piece of clothing away. There was no way the blood would was from it now.
After cleaning the wound and stitching it with small strips of medical tape, you wrapped you arm with the bandage, grimacing as a blinding pain shot through your veins. Pinching the bridge of your nose, you allowed your eyes to close briefly. The memory from the bunker kept playing over and over again, Perseusâ voice echoing from somewhere within your subconscence.
Operation Hydra, you are my most valuable asset.
You were brought back to reality by the clinking of glasses, and the chair beside you scraping against the floor as someone sat down with a light groan. Opening your eyes slowly, you were surprised to see Adler sitting there, pouring two glasses of what appeared to be whiskey. âNow this, is the last thing you expect to find in an old Russian manâs cupboardâ He spoke lowly, extending one of the glasses toward you with a raised eyebrow.
Despite the mood you were in, you couldnât belp but laugh softly, taking the glass from his grasp with a small nod of thanks. As if in unison, both you and Adler downed the contents of your glasses, causing you to sigh at the pleasant burning sensation. Your eyes met, and Adler shook his head. âHow the fuck did you survive?â âWhy? Have you come back to finish the job?â You asked quickly, watching with observant eyes as Adlerâs hand tightened around his glass, his knuckles turning white as his shoulders tensed. âWe came back to Solovetsky, because we picked up some Russian chatter about our old friend Perseus. He was planning to rebuild that base up there...â He breathed, his scarred features forming a scowl âwe didnât expect to find youâ.
You laughed bitterly, leaning back into your seat and folding your arms over your chest âI bet that was a surprise for you-â
âDo you realise how hard it was for me to come back here Bell?-â
âThatâs not my nameâ.
Adler paused at your threatening tone, huffing loudly as you glared daggers. If only looks could kill. You sat up straighter in your seat, jaw clenching as you spoke âMy name is Y/n, but I assume you already knew thatâ. When the man before you said nothing, and instead found the surface of the table more interesting, you stood up abruptly.
âDid you regret it?â You dared ask, your voice becoming soft, grabbing Adlerâs attention. When his gaze met yours, his lips parted in response âRegret what?-â âDonât fuck me around, Adler...â You snapped, violently slamming your hands down atop the table âyouâve screwed me over enough. I donât think you understand how hard this is for me. The man I trusted with my life, the man who fucked up my mind and shot me because he considered me a loose end, is sitting right in front of me. No more lies. No more bullshit. Tomorrow, you will tell me everything you know, and I will tell you everything I know, which admittedly isnât much. But if your plan is to just fuck me over again, then Iâm already outâ.
When Adler didnât respond, you took that as your sign to leave. You ignored Woods and Mason, who watched you storm past them up the staircase to the second floor of the house. You were beyond tired, overwhelmed by the days events.Â
Viktor brought you tea later that night, offering his company should you need it.

âPorter sur toi un nouveau regardâ: basic outlines and preparatory notes
What better way to celebrate a fic being completed than me releasing some of the basic notes I took while planning it? Here they are, with a few additions.
It all started as a prompt I got on Discord, the very simple âlove at first sightâ and I wasnât quite sure what to do with it at first, but the idea of sight stuck with me. Are your first impressions the right ones? Can you learn to see someone a certain way or another? Itâs ultimately a story about learning to see other people and yourself, isnât it?
Which meant I had to take a certain point of view, because an omniscient floating eye is emotionally detached. Character POV may have a limited scope, but that may help empathise with them. This is a story about Kagami, so it was only fair for Kagami to be the centre of it.
Chapter 1:Â
âHow does Kagami truly feel about Marinette before Ikari Gozenâ?Â
While Marinette sees the two of them as rivals, that rivalry is one-sided, and Kagami wouldnât take that girl seriously. Sheâs simply annoying.Â
Kagami is a lonely character, who genuinely wants to make friends, still, and sheâs anything but cool or smooth. She doesnât know the other characters the way the audience does, at all.
Tomoe Tsurugi sucks.
Switching from âDupain-Chengâ to âMarinette Dupain-Chengâ to âMarinetteâ would be a nice way to keep the reader hooked. Lots of tiny details thatâll come back later on!
Comphet.Â
Lots of comphet already. What you âshouldâ like, a calculated, conscious choice.
A few jabs at the show because why not.
Chapter 2:
Filling gaps in characterisation and timeline to make sure that everything hurts later on! Including pre-Adrigami. People thought the paperwork between Tomoe and Gabriel was a marriage contract, not quite, but an arranged relationship? Definitely from Tomoeâs side.
Are Kagami and Marinette already going on dates when they visit the city together all on their own? Isnât that the true sapphic experience.
Also, the promise of them going to the terrace rooftop on sunny days! Itâll come back later on.
The Bike Motive. Marinette driving her forward.
âYour hair is beautifulâ but make it much gayer.Â
I hate the AndrĂŠ scene in the finale, it sucks and itâs awful for everyone. It should be awful for both Marinette and Kagami. Comphet. So much comphet.Â
Kagamiâs impression of brokenness is something weâll come back to over and over again.
Adrien doesnât notice because heâs Adrien. The kiss. Nothing.
âK-Kagami!â End with a cliffhanger for more suffering.
As a side note, I made myself cry writing this chapter.
Chapter 3:
Everything hurts. Everything. Hurts.Â
Identity reveals donât solve anything, they still fail, and Marinette still isnât willing to show herself to Kagami, still hiding behind a facade.
Just because Marinette understands things a little better doesnât mean it hurts any less
They are both lying to each other and themselves and they donât even realise it.
âFixing the brokennessâ through comphet.
Nothing is solved at all.
Falling asleep on a chaise longue plus blanket
Chapter 4:
Life as a socialite in Paris, concerts and restaurants, wearing clothes she hasnât chosen
The Adrien routine, pulling chairs and flowers
Itâs all miserable still, lots of âshouldsâ
Fencing competition, fencing competition ahead. Tomoe is a terrible parent and a terrible coach.
Text conversations with Marinette, overdoes joy with emojis
The Bike Motive Returns, with more feelings, Marinetteâs almost desperate gestures
(Kagami as the only person she can fully confide in, but still wonât)
An early birthday present⌠But Kagami is born in November, Marinette is a mess and so is her room.
Hug and first hint of reciprocated Marigami? Just the happiness of having someone like Kagami who admires her work as Marinette.
Falling asleep on a chaise longue plus blanket, part deux.
KAGAMI IN A SUIT!!!
Kisses on the cheek are really common in France, not Japan. A heavy kiss.
Dress or suit?
Marinette is a mess, texts at night. Difference between Adrien and Marinetteâs texts, Adrienâs more self-centred.
No sense of space in Tokyo, jet lag and closed house. Closed spaces.Â
Chapter 5:
Iâm going to write a full chapter about sabre fencing and people will love it
Lots of sneaky (or not so sneaky) GL and Yuri manga/anime references. Make Juri Arisugawa part of the Jury.
All the locations are real
Marinette overdoes it again, Kagami canât tell.
Kagamiâs technique dissecting her opponents. She is a champion already.
Teach the readers about fencing whilst describing it. Have opponents be challenging in specific, understandable ways.
She chooses the suit. What even is subtlety.
As a side note: it was a really fun one to write.
Chapter 6:
Marinette internship phone call, Nathalieâs plan. No way Gabriel would accept to work with a kid. Flirting, Kagami as a muse?
The Foucault chapter. Everything is a prison. Restaurant, vertical stripes on wall as prison bars, the relationship, the self-locking car. This is no Utena car.
Everything is wrong, including the food
Adrigami friendship, much better than Adrigami romance. Rose/Chair. She doesnât hate him at all, she just doesnât love him⌠It wouldnât work, sheâs gay and heâs a liar.
Self-imposed gestures of affection.
Do not describe the kisses, theyâre just a thing she has to do
Marinette is a mess, Ladybug is a mess, hell imagery, falling down a hole, almost dying. We are in the car with Kagami and we want to do something, anything, and we canât.
Chapter 7:
The first step to things being alright again is to admit that they arenât alright now
Nighttime conversation, Kagami letting Ladybug in
Marinette finally showing herself bare to Kagami but still tries not to until the dam breaks. Being a hero is miserable. Being the Guardian when you are a child with no guidance or support is miserable. Kagami as the only person she can trust.
Botched Lukanette date?
âIâm just so tired.â
âYou are not a failure, you are so courageous, a genius fashion designer and my best friendâ
(Additional note: I cried writing that passage)
Sharing the burden: help in more than just words.
âI hate that you have to see me like that.â
But showing your vulnerability and still being accepted as true love
Kagami truly sees Marinette now.
âTutorshipâ and Tomoe being awful but excuse works. Help is material, homework, tidying up the room together.
âStop feeling guilty about letting other people help you.â
Flirting hidden behind jokes, Kagami lying to herself. Way to ruin the mood.
Marigami baking.
Harlem 88, postal workers, acab
Watching television on the same couch, or rather watching Marinette watch television.
Umbrella scene with polka dots.
Kagami fully aware of her feeling and afraid of them, afraid that Marinette might feel the same
Chapter 8:
more fencing, Kagami absolutely rules
Worrying about Marinette alone with Gabriel, rightfully so, but canât say that out loud
Stereotypical outdated Japanese-ness, Kagami canât conform, doesnât know how to put on her houmongi on her own. Tomoe and paradoxes, her daughter is both weak and âtoo muscularâ at the same time.
The Palais Royal. The Buren columns are very climbable.
Gabriel, âquite miraculousâ. Testing the waters, Kagami doesnât notice.Â
Jealousy when Adrien speaks of Marinette?
Ratatouille reference! Tatou.Â
Tomoe playing the role of the exotic Japanese to be accepted.Â
Drunk parents, drunk on power and self-satisfaction.Â
Adrienâs kiss, forced to return it.Â
Fear that Adrien might become Marinetteâs muse
The bike motive once more
Barkkâs power is tracking magical signatures, each is different from the other
Marinette taking control over her own life, making plans to stop Hawk Moth instead of passively waiting for each attack,Â
âShe was never broken. She is in love with another girl.â
Marinette is in love with her too, but is ready to wait.
Chapter 9:
Adrien IS Chat Noir, up to the entitlement and his way of being physically affectionate. Stay true to canon and canon implications.
Adrigami/DJWifi double date, Alya means well but doesnât know everything
Wordbuilding: of course the Ladyblog isnât the only website ever, bad rival, Daily Bugle pun.
Not hating someone doesnât mean you should be with them.
Hints of Adrigami friendship again, relief at avoiding romance.
Food at Kagamiâs, cooker, formally perfect but not personal
Marinette and Barkk, closer to their goal
The Turtle Pearl bracelet: a shield, a great way to show feeling of danger, symbol of love
Kagami is the one to kiss Marinette on the cheek this time
Chapter 10:
Tomoe is a bad instructor episode 100
In which Adrien proves himself to truly be also Chat Noir, i.e. unable to understand personal barriers and entitlement. Still Kagamiâs POV. He doesnât think heâs doing anything wrong, insistenceâ playfulness. certainly wonât apologise
The bike motive again. Scenic road and conversation
Going to Orsay, definitely a date!
Chat Noir was moody during akuma crisis because of course he was.
Chapter 11:
Adrigami âbreakâ, Adrien sucks at admitting that heâs anything but perfect and being confronted with that.
Kagami bluntness.
Adrigami isnât about Adrigami, itâs about the Tsurugi familyâs status and Tomoe terrified of consequences. Attacking the room instead of Kagami herself.
The Turtle Pearl glows when wearer feels endangered or imminent danger
The museum pictures, the two of them together
Aquarium date?
âVoice of reasonâ isnât the voice of reason at all.
Barkk is in the bag, smells everything
Chapter 12:
Kagami as Tomoeâs messenger
Agreste mansion as a mausoleum, setting up the geography, security cameras, cold. Painting of Ămilie, goal is near
Nathalie being extremely good at pretending she didnât just knock that kid unconscious months ago, sheâs awful and itâs great.
Marinette internship, Gabriel wears a bowtie⌠Resembles a butterfly.
Barkk in the bag, smells everything.
Stressful phone call, feels feverish, itâs him and thatâs undeniable.
Marinette the detective.
âThanks for being there for meâ
âThank you for trusting me so muchâ
Having dinner with Hawk Moth, itâs awful and stressful
No more chair/rose
Adrien is miserable but not aggressive. Building up to final fight
Chapter 13:
Meet the Dupain-Chengs, short, awkward, sweet moment
Marinetteâs room, perfectly clean
From creepy stalker to detective, without downplaying the former or overplaying the latter
The two are complementary, very concrete things,Â
The plan: catch Hawk Moth red-handed, take it outside and expose him to the world
How the Kwami Pearls work: just like the Miraculouses themselves, feeding off the host, only more brutal. Marinette trying to reassure Kagami
Re-explain Turtle Pearl and other powers, illusion, thunder, time-rewind and portal
Gabriel owns original Degas painting since they are both assholes
Adrien/Chat still not great at all
Ice-cream but no biphobia/lesbophobia this time, just a regular shop suggested by Juleka.
The Pont des Arts, no more locks, just like in real life.
The confession, the kiss: consent and everything is right, but also desperate. Marinette really wants to do it well.
Longg is back, also, hype
Side note: I cried writing this one.
Chapters 14-15
Ryuko infiltrating the mansion, all in the details
I hate that Hawk Mothâs lair is an actual real physical space in the show, but if this needs to be material, then so be it. He was allowed to turn his house into that because he got help from the Mayor/Audrey.
Chat Noir canât fight, near breakdown.
Nathalie knew. Remake of first fight, only Ryuko has clear upper hand.
Having missiles in your house isnât a good idea.
The Turtle Pearl serves its purpose at last,Â
Gabriel mostly defeats himself on his own, hubris, the whole extent of his power dynamic with Nathalie
Going back to the Champ de Mars,Â
Teamwork, taking the butterfly down. Chat Noir rejects his father entirely, cataclysm-ed akuma.
The mansion again, entirely destroyed, paintings of Ămilie burning. Spell book and tablet recovered.
Chapter 16:
Taking the big bad down is useless if you donât take down the power structures that allowed him to strive in the first place. Killing Voldemort only solves that much.
Discovering it all on a phone screen, shut-in
ACAB no matter your gender
They are just following orders and happy to do so, and Gabriel still has some power over them
Tomoe plays by the rules, even though these rules are awful
Kagamiâs anger
Chapter 17:
Aquarium date, aquarium date! Fish facts
Kagamiâs anger still, doesnât die out, render it through environment and senses
Water as a healing motive, fish facts
Hot outside - cold inside, ice-cream
Kagami nearly blows out because of kids after being slightly soothed
The power of love is strong but it canât solve everything.
Additional note: someone in the comments asked me if Kagami had ASD, and the answer is, I donât know, you tell me! If you think she is on the spectrum, then she is!
Addressing Kagami being closeted, because thereâs simply no other way. This isnât good. Having to live hidden out of fear isnât good..
The bike motive, + ice cream
Kagami uses the word âlesbianâ for the first time to describe her own experience.
Chapter 18:
Tomoe has feelings and these feelings suck. Under the guise of rules, abuse.
Kagami fighting back.
Power is material, through connections and money, nothing that canât be bought
Kagamiâs first demonstration, donât make it too violent but still ACAB
Nino and Alya as reporters, Julerose and Luka seasoned protestors
The Palais de Justiceâs gilded gates are closed vs the crowd
Marinette using her powers for something other than Hawk Moth, strong stance but also still a 15 yo kidâs understanding of the situation
Chapters 19-20:
No tanabata because Tomoe is terrible
The rooftop terrace at last, more Marigami wholesomeness
Dupain-Cheng house vs Tsurugi house, the furniture and dishes, the meal, more Tom and Sabine
Marinette has been cut from her Chinese heritage, exploring that (callback to Mandarin app, chapter 1) and bitterness of it
Adrien moving on in England, still Plagg with him, heâll become a rich prep boy
Marinette as a Guardians, her own spell book
Duusuu is devouring Ămilieâs soul and neither Marinette nor Kagami knows
Françoise Dupont at night, fencing classes, Marinette moves like Ladybug
The future: it is bright but bittersweet, letâs talk about it together
And there was only one bed
Oh, to cuddle with your girlfriend in her bed for the first time
Watching the sun rise together, calm breakfast
Side note: I also cried writing this one.
Chapter 21, epilogue
A new beginning
Kagami turning her back on her mother almost entirely
The bike motive, but Kagami no longer needs Marinette to show her the way now
New school, familiar faces but not only
An ordinary bracelet for Marinette, but proof of love despite everything
End on their hands.

Fic: Forged Through Fire (10/13)
Summary: Amestris. Once democratic, now a military dictatorship. Prohibition is strict; personal freedoms curtailed. All alchemists must be state-licensed or face imprisonment. Foreigners are met with suspicion. Itâs a grim place and a grim time, but there are some people able to bring a little light to the world. Behind an innocent-looking bookshop, speakeasy proprietor Chris Mustang has formed an unlikely alliance with unlicensed alchemist Van Hohenheim to provide alcohol to those who want it and medical care to those who need it. When Rizaâs newly complete tattoo becomes infected, Roy brings her into this underworld, little knowing the way it will change their lives in the future â uncovering the secrets of the mythical Philosopherâs Stone and the schemes of a Fuhrer hell-bent on achieving immortality, all whilst navigating what they mean to each other.

Forged Through Fire
Ten
Roy had absolutely no idea where he was when he woke up, which was alarming since he woke up by falling off a couch to the soundtrack of someone knocking on the door.Â
âRiza?â It was Hughesâ voice. âRiza, everyoneâs back apart from Roy, weâre starting to make plans. Falman and Fuery have news.â
Oh, right. He was in Rizaâs apartment above the shop.Â
Riza came out of her bedroom, fully-dressed and ready for the day, and she passed a mug of coffee to Roy as he got off the rug and grabbed his boots. He must have really been out of it if sheâd managed to come in and make coffee around him without him noticing.
She opened the door.Â
âHi Maes. Royâs here and weâll be down in a minute; Iâm just going to take Hayate out.â
âOh.â Hughes peered into the apartment past Riza and raised an eyebrow at Roy.Â
âNothing happened,â he muttered, feeling his face begin to flush bright red.Â
âNo, from the state of the couch and the state of you I can see that,â Hughes said. âBut we think weâve got a breakthrough, so come down once your headâs screwed on straight. Gracia brought breakfast for everyone.â
However much Hughes might exaggerate when talking about Gracia, his summation of her cooking skills was spot on, and Royâs stomach growled. He finally succeeded in jamming his boots back on his feet and grabbed his jacket, following Riza and Hayate out of the apartment and down into the bar, to be met with the mouthwatering smell of pancakes and syrup.
Hughes wasnât kidding about everyone being there; Havoc and Rebecca had brought Trisha back as well as Gracia coming along. The only person missing was Breda, who was monitoring the radio in the office. Everyone looked to be in various worse for wear states having had so little sleep the night before, and Roy was glad that he wasnât the only person dishevelled and still in yesterdayâs clothes.Â
With everyone eventually settled around the table with pancakes (and a plate delivered to Breda), the discussion began.Â
âHohenheimâs been taken to the Fifth Laboratory,â Fuery said. âWe picked up on the car movements early this morning.â
Hughes gave Roy a pointed look. The Fifth Laboratory definitely existed then, and Roy had indeed been a fool to think it hadnât.
âWe think that Bradleyâs there too, as he hasnât been seen in any of the other places where he would normally be and we know from the security guardâs logs that he didnât go home last night,â Falman added. âAlso, if the guards know where he is then theyâve been instructed not to say; Mrs Bradley was getting worried about him and asked if they knew his whereabouts.â
âRight. Do we know where the Fifth Lab actually is?â
âNot yet,â Falman said. âI need to go back this morning and pick up all the reports from this morningâs early shift, they wonât have been filed yet. Thereâs nothing on record about it. Or rather, everything thatâs on record about it has been redacted, but it all ties in with what Hughes has already found out about Project Xerxes. Thatâs where theyâve been doing most of the groundwork for it.â
âRight.â Roy looked down at the map that was spread out over the table. The city had been built up along circular lines and he traced the limits, marking the four existing laboratories with pencil.
âThe alchemist in me wants to say Itâs here,â he said, moving Rebeccaâs plate and circling a couple of blocks. âPut all those points together and you get a basic transmutation circle, although I dread to think what a city-wide transmutation circle would do. Would you agree, Armstrong? Armstrong? Alex?â
Armstrong jerked out of whatever thought heâd been in and looked at the map.Â
âYes. Iâd agree. But I think thereâs an easier way for us to find out where the Fifth Laboratory is.â
Roy handed him the pencil. âIâm all ears.â
âYeah, anything to avoid getting the evil eye from the secret police record keeper.â Falman shuddered.Â
âTim Marcoh used to be the head of research for Project Xerxes. Heâd know where the lab is.â
âThatâs great, but Tim Marcoh died three years ago,â Havoc pointed out. âOr heâs in Xing, according to Hughes.â
âOh, heâs not in Xing, but he did fake his death,â Armstrong said, completely matter of fact.Â
âWhat? How come youâve never mentioned this before? How do you even know this?â
âI only found out by accident and I swore to keep the secret, especially since he thought Iâd been sent to kill him. I was taking my mother to a sheep festival in the EastâŚâ
âThe Resembool sheep festival?â Trisha asked.Â
âYes.â
Trisha laughed, although it was the hollow laugh of someone who didnât think theyâd ever laugh properly again. âThatâs my hometown. I met Van there. Sorry. Go on.â
âThe train stopped for repairs before we arrived in Resembool and I met Dr Marcoh in a small village. Obviously heâd changed his name, but heâs been living out a quiet existence as a local doctor having sworn off alchemy for life.â
Roy just stared at him.Â
âHow far away is this village? If we commandeer a car, how long would it take you to get there and back with Marcoh?â
âIt could be done within the day, as long as we could persuade Marcoh to return to Central.â
âEven if you canât get him in person, you can at least get the location of the lab,â Falman said.Â
âI think it would be better to get him in person.â A plan was beginning to form in the back of Royâs mind. It was probably the worst plan in existence, but it was the only plan he had.Â
X
âYouâre absolutely crackers, but I canât think of anything better, so Iâm in.âÂ
Breda managed to succinctly summarise everyone elseâs thoughts towards Royâs plan in that one sentence. Fuery had gone back to manning the radios for any updates as to Hohenheimâs status, and Armstrong and Falman had left to go and forge the papers for commandeering a car and then to drive said car to find Marcoh. There was so much being left to chance and Roy himself was beginning to doubt his own sanity.
âYouâre all crackers if you think Iâm letting you just run out of here following Roy on this madcap scheme.â Chris was standing at the head of the table with her arms folded, and Roy was about to protest when she spoke again. âHughes, youâve only just recovered from being shot, the military is still looking for you, and this time you donât have Hohenheim to pull you back from the brink. The same goes for all of you; this is ridiculously, stupidly dangerous and you canât fall back on Hohenheim to patch you up like youâve done before.â
Hughes looked suitably chastened, and Chris continued. âTrisha, I know how worried you are about him, and I know you want to help, but you donât have the military experience that these ones have and Hohenheim will actually murder me if I let you go on rescue missions in your condition. You and Hughes are staying here at mission control. Riza, RebeccaâŚâ Chris sighed. âYouâre not military, but I know you girls both know how to shoot, so I guess I canât stop you. But all of you remember that you need more of a plan than this. Iâm not saying not to go along with this plan, but you need more of a plan. Itâs you lot against the entire military. They have access to all the trained soldiers, all the weaponry, all the licensed alchemists, all of the secret police and their bag of tricks. Youâre going up against Bradley himself. You are going to need more support. You canât take down the entire military on your own.â
She paused. âRoy, you are brilliant and youâve already taken control of this situation better than I ever could. But the scope of this is incredible. This affects the entirety of Amestris. This isnât just a simple jailbreak. Thereâs no easy way out of this.â
The speech was a harsh truth, and hard for Roy to swallow, but something in Chrisâs words echoed through his mind, and a thought came to him.
âYes.â
âYes?â
âThis affects the entirety of Amestris. We canât take down the entire military on our own, but maybe we can get the military to take itself down. Project Xerxes, the Fuhrerâs plans to become immortal⌠They are secret plans, we only found out about them by accident. What if we take them public? What if all of Amestris knows whatâs going on? What would the military do then?â
Rebecca grinned. âTheyâd have to start scrambling to perform damage control. I know just the paper to break the story, and we can get it all over the radio as well.â
âEven if we donât have any tangible proof, theyâll have to go into overdrive in case people start asking too many questions, because they know that itâs true and theyâll need to find out how everything got out. I mean, even the rest of the military donât know whatâs going on in the Fifth Laboratory,â Hughes pointed out. âThereâs only so many people in the know, and they canât take down the entirety of Central Command and all the civilians. We could cause one hell of a scene.â
Roy felt Chris pat his shoulder, and heard her whisper in his ear. âI told you that you were brilliant.â
X
Ten hours later, Central Command was in complete chaos.Â
The Central Heraldâs office had been raided, but all the staff had barricaded themselves in the printing press shed and were continuing to churn out publications that were flying off the shelves almost as fast as the runners could get them through the underground network. Rebecca had cheerfully reported over the radio that they had plenty of food and they were only going to stop once they ran out of press paper.Â
Since Fueryâs access to the Central Command radio rooms had opened up with the daylight hours, he had set up shop in there, quietly settling down in one corner to keep an ear on everything and reporting in anything that could be of use, leaving Chrisâs radio equipment free for Hughes and Gracia to cause merry hell on the airwaves in conjunction with Rebeccaâs paper.Â
Roy got the impression that Hughes was enjoying himself far too much.Â
A phone call from Falman had reported that Marcoh had been tracked down and although it had taken a lot of persuasion, he was on his way back to Central with them for the crux of the plan. For a moment Roy wondered if theyâd simply knocked him out and kidnapped him, but that hit far too close to home considering what had happened to Hohenheim and he pushed the thought away, knowing that it would have hit far too close to home for Falman and Armstrong as well.Â
Riza, Chris and Trisha were holding the fort back at the bar; there wasnât much Riza could do to assist in this stage of the plan, but she was ready to help explain everything to Marcoh if he arrived before Roy did.Â
Roy, Breda and Havoc were on their way to the armoury, albeit rather later than theyâd expected to be infiltrating it. No one was paying them any mind at all as they made their way through the corridors of Central Command, walking with enough purpose to convince everyone that they had orders to be somewhere, but not fast enough to be suspicious.Â
They passed the war room where the top brass were trying to perform damage limitation. Bradley was nowhere to be seen, and hadnât been all day, and the generals were going frantic trying to contact him. Roy smiled to himself as they passed. That was a problem when your secret plan for immortality was so secret that not even the most trusted subordinates knew its full scope.Â
âI donât know why youâre grinning, Mustang,â Breda muttered. âWeâre not out of the woods yet.â
That was unfortunately true, and raiding the armoury was only the next step in a set of many more before they were out of the woods.Â
Like most of the other more volatile areas of Central Command, the armoury had been locked down as soon as everything had started to happen, and the armoury clerk was nowhere to be found. The door was double locked and padlock-bolted from the outside, but Havoc could always be guaranteed to have lockpicks on him. Breda set up to keep watch at the end of the corridor as Havoc got to work, and Roy flexed his fingers, feeling horribly exposed without his gloves. Potentially creating sparks in a place crammed full of ammunition wasnât something he wanted to risk, but at the same time, he was on edge with the fear of discovery.Â
âOK, weâre in. Youâd think theyâd use better locks on the guns, but hey.â Havoc pushed the door open, and Breda and Roy followed him inside.Â
âWe canât take too much, only what wonât look suspicious, but we should be able to get enough for everyone if we count Rizaâs pistols and the Madamâs rifle as well.â
They moved quickly through the racks of guns, selecting easily concealable pistols and stuffing them into the kit bag that Breda had brought. Havoc had unlocked the ammunition cabinets and started clearing them out; they could have as many guns as they liked but theyâd be useless if they didnât have anything to fire.Â
âCome on, that should be enough, letâs get out of here.âÂ
The armoury door swung closed with a bang, and the sound sent a jarring rush of ice all along Royâs nerves.Â
âWhy am I not surprised that itâs you, Mustang? I mean, you were there the night that Hughes was shot, after all.â
Roy turned to see Kimblee standing inside the doorway, arms folded and a sinister smile on his face.Â
âAnd Havoc, of course, we canât forget that your latest squeeze works at the Herald and is currently prepared to go down with her printing press.â He looked at Breda. âNo idea who you are, but welcome to the party.â
Roy could almost feel his skin beginning to crawl. He was aware of Kimblee as a fellow alchemist, and knew him as the kind of man who would have joined the military solely for the thrill of the carnage that inevitably came with it.Â
There was a click behind him, and Roy glanced to the side to see that Breda was aiming at Kimblee. Roy sighed. Might as well go all in, since Kimblee definitely knew that they werenât in here with any kind of innocent intentions.
Kimblee just grinned that terrible grin and clapped his hands together, the alchemy sparking off his gloves. The time bomb was ticking and the next thing he put his palms on would explode.
âNow, now. Letâs not do anything rash.â
âYouâd really try that in here, with all this ammo?â Even as he said it, Roy knew what the answer would be. Kimblee had never been what one might call fully sane.Â
âIf I go down, Iâm taking you with me.â
âAnd half of Central Command,â Breda muttered, but he lowered his gun nonetheless.
Roy realised something, and he kicked himself for not realising it before.
Trisha had said that the alchemist from the secret police who had bagged Hohenheim was an explosives specialist. Kimblee was an explosives specialist.Â
He also looked like heâd had a recently broken nose that had been fixed up with medical alchemy.Â
Roy had only ever seen Kimblee in uniform like he was now. He had never realised that he might be part of the secret police when he wasnât in Central Command.Â
âDonât think I donât know itâs Hughes causing mayhem on the radio, either,â Kimblee continued. âWhereâve you been hiding him, then? No matter, Iâm sure weâll find out soon enough. I have to say that Iâm impressed, though. All this chaos just to spring one alchemic freakshow?â
Very carefully, he pulled something out of his breast pocket, and Roy recognised Hohenheimâs glasses.Â
âDonât worry. Iâm sure the good doctor will give back whateverâs left when heâs finished with him.â
Royâs first instinct was to ball up his fists and break Kimbleeâs nose for the second time in as many days, and he would have done it if it hadnât been for the explosive arrays on his gloves still glowing, the time bomb still ticking. Kimblee just grinned.Â
âNow, gentlemen. Shall we?â
Roy was about to respond â not that he had a pithy response ready, but he had to say something to wipe the smirk off Kimbleeâs face â when three things happened almost simultaneously. He heard the reinforced glass of the armoury window shatter. He felt something fly past his cheek. He saw Kimblee bend double and start swearing as blood began dribbling from his hand.Â
It was a shot in a million and it could only have been Riza.Â
âWhat the hell?â Breda began, but a second shot cut him off, ripping through Kimbleeâs other hand as he reached out towards the wall, ready to blow them all without a second thought.
Now that there was no danger of the room exploding around them, Roy gave into impulse and brought his fist squarely into contact with Kimbleeâs face, breaking his nose with a crunch and sending his head smacking back against the heavy door. He gave a groan and slumped down.
âDonât question it, just be grateful and letâs get out of here.â Havoc grabbed the bag of guns and ammo as Roy and Breda dragged the unconscious Kimblee to the now-empty ammo cabinet and shoved him inside, re-padlocking the door on him.Â
Roy grabbed Hohenheimâs glasses from where Kimblee had dropped them and followed Breda and Havoc out of the armoury. For all they were trying to act casual and like they had every right to be there, someone would have seen Kimblee come along this way and someone would notice his absence pretty soon. They had to get out of there as soon as they could, and Roy did not fancy trying to get them all out of the front door with their loot.Â
Sneaking out of the menâs room window wasnât exactly what heâd had in mind when heâd first been planning the raid on the armoury, but needs must, and it was only once they were safely out of Central Command and trying to put as much distance between them and the building as possible that Roy could think about perhaps breathing easy again.Â
Theyâd passed the point of no return now; there was definitely no coming back from that, and Roy could only hope that after all the dust settled, they would be able to think up a reasonable excuse for everything that had happened.Â
None of the civilians paid them any mind as they fled; there had been soldiers running around the city all day, and the few people who were out in the streets and not holed up in their own homes for fear of being caught in the crossfire were all too concerned with what was playing out on the larger scale to pay much attention to three men pelting hell for leather away from Central Command and towards an unknown destination.
They reached the meeting point that theyâd agreed to fall back to if they got separated, and Roy saw Riza coming out of the shadows towards them, holdall over her shoulder.Â
âHawkeye by name and nature.â Havoc gave her an impressed nod.
âYeah, you got us out of a jam there, thanks,â Breda agreed.
Riza shrugged. âI figured you might need some backup. Hughes told me which window to go for. Looked like I got there just in time.â
Roy took advantage of the shadows to find Rizaâs hand and squeeze it.Â
âThanks for having my back.â

darts, drinks and dirty tricks
Itâs games night in East City, and Jean Havoc has a plan. Not only will he win the eveningâs betting pool, but heâll also have the satisfaction of pulling a fast one over on Lieutenant Hawkeye to claim the position of best sharpshooter for the night.
Dangerous territory? Absolutely. Provided he succeeds that is.
Colonel Roy Mustang however has no plans to let his subordinate steal his First Lieutenantâs sharpshooting crown right off her pretty little head. At least, not without throwing a dirty trick of his own into the mix.
... xxx ...
It was a typically warm and humid East City evening as Colonel Mustang stood up at his desk, his hair a mess of dark strands that perfectly complemented the tired expression on his face.
By any outside account, it would seem as if he had just finished up a long hard day of rigorous paperwork, when the reality was much closer to him having just woken up from an impromptu two-hour nap.
âWell,â Roy said brightly, stretching his arms above his head before retaking his seat. âI donât know about you guys, but after the day Iâve had, I am in dire need of a drink to unwind.â
There was a general murmur of agreement from his subordinates. âIsnât it games night?â Falman piped up, poking his head over the large stack of papers in front of him.
âIt sure is. So ⌠what are we betting on tonight?â
His First Lieutenant stood attentive to his right, and although she might have been out of his direct line of sight, Roy could already feel her rolling her eyes at him and he sunk further into his seat in satisfaction.
Despite her obvious distaste of gambling, Riza Hawkeye was content to let the boys throw their money at each other so long as they kept her out of it - which they almost never did.
The Colonel eyed the members of his team sprawled haphazardly across their desks with a level look. âI believe itâs your turn to choose the eveningâs entertainment Fuery,â he said eventually, turning towards the baby-faced Sergeant and raising an expectant brow.
Cain Fuery squirmed under the Colonelâs gaze, as he was prone to do when put on the spot, and Roy could almost see the different options for the night flashing in his glasses. After an impatient sigh from somewhere across the room, most likely Breda, the Master Sergeantâs face lit up.
âHow about a game of darts, Sir?â
Falman and Breda groaned collectively, both notoriously terrible shots, but one sharp look from the First Lieutenant was enough to have them commending the Master Sergeant with an appreciation bordering on grovelling.
It was amusing to say the least, but Roy found his gaze drawn to the corner desk where his Second Lieutenant, Jean Havoc, sat chewing his cigarette with a conniving smirk plastered on his face.
âDarts, huh,â he mused softly, clearly conjuring up some sort of plan in that uniquely chaotic mind of his. Roy couldnât be sure what his subordinate was thinking, but he had the odd feeling that it had something to do with the nights betting pool.
If he let Havoc have his way, he was fairly certain the sharpshooter would be reigning victorious at the end of the night.
Roy didnât like the thought of that one bit. And not only because his underling would lord it over them for weeks. He glanced sidelong at Hawkeye, their reigning champion, and his brows furrowed.
Before he could let himself dwell on the feeling, Roy forced himself to stand. âWell, now that thatâs settled,â he started with a clap, itching to leave the musty office for somewhere livelier. âWhoâs driving?â
The military car rattled noisily as Havoc sped through the busy Friday night traffic, the First Lieutenant sitting in the passenger seat whilst the other four piled into the back.
Whenever he was in charge of driving, Hawkeye refused to sit anywhere other than beside him â likely so she could yell at him whenever his irresponsible driving endangered others, which he had to admit was more often than not.
As he caught sight of the womanâs stony expression, it seemed today was no different.
So far heâd already been berated twice for manoeuvring the vehicle too close to pedestrians, and he only grinned widely as he corrected his steering. He took it all in his stride, but even with someone keeping an eye on him, Havocâs driving was still borderline reckless.
The team arrived at their local bar in record time, much to the First Lieutenants dismay. Havoc parked up on a quiet road beside the establishment, patting himself on the back for fitting the car into such a tight spot. He frowned at the dark heavy clouds hovering above them for a moment before joining the others as they filed into the building.
The group grabbed their preferred drinks, Hawkeye sticking with a lemon water, before congregating on the sofas towards the back, set out beside an old dart board nailed precariously to the wall.
"What are we playing again?â Havoc asked, shedding as much of his uniform as was appropriate in a public setting before taking a seat, leaving him in a tight black tee and his standard issue trousers.
âSix-oh-one, straight in" Fuery clarified.
âSweet,â he murmured, turning to see the Colonel watching him with a peculiar expression. âWhatâs up boss, worried Iâm gonna beat you?â
Mustang shrugged his shoulders half-heartedly before draping himself over the sofa. âNot one bit Havoc. Youâre all going down anyway.â
âFighting words,â he said with a low whistle. âYou canât snap your way to victory tonight. You sure you wanna subject yourself to the embarrassment of losing to one of your own sharpshooters?â Havoc joked, flashing his own skill set before his superior.
âI donât recall ever mentioning myself,â Roy said smugly. âMy moneyâs on Hawkeye,â he said, garnering a disappointed shake of the head from the woman in question.
âOh, I wouldnât be so sure about her winning,â Havoc taunted. âWhat about you boys?â
Breda went with Hawkeye and Fuery with Mustang, whilst Havoc managed to convince Falman to go with him. He wouldnât mind splitting the winnings in the end if it meant he had someoneâs confidence.
With the bets placed, the games began.
One by one, the team started several rounds of Fueryâs chosen game. Some time and several drinks later, Mustang collapsed onto the sofa beside Havoc with a pout.
âIt would seem that Hawkeye remains the undefeated champion,â he said, clearly sulking at having been obliterated by the woman. "You're gonna need all the luck you can muster if you think you can take her on."
Havoc grinned at his superior. From the Colonels reaction, you wouldnât think the guy had money riding on Hawkeyeâs victory.
âDonât worry about me, Sir. Iâve been watching her play all night, and Iâm pretty sure Iâve figured out a strategy to take down the Hawkâs Eye.â
"Oh really?" Mustang asked, an eyebrow raised in clear amusement. "And how exactly do you plan on defeating my First Lieutenant?"
Havoc sat up a little, chewing at the end of his unlit cigarette. âThe trick is to get under your opponentsâ skin,â he said matter-of-factly.
âOh, is that all,â Mustang scoffed, his dark eyes drifting over where Hawkeye and Fuery were clearing the board for the next game. Of them all, Mustang knew the First Lieutenant the best, so he had good reason to believe that Havoc had no clue what he was doing.
But Havoc had known and observed the woman long enough to have an idea of things that would likely affect her in some way. And he only needed something to work once.
âThat is all. Wish me luck Boss,â he said, stashing his cigarette into his pocket as he stood and waved towards the two members still at the dart board. âAlright, Iâm up next Hawkeye!â he called, grabbing some spare darts off of Falman before joining them.
Hawkeye nodded to Havoc in a friendly manner as she rolled her own darts along her fingers. âAfter you, Second Lieutenant.â
âAre you ever gonna call me Jean?â Havoc grinned as he stepped up to the firing spot. When she didnât respond, he merely shrugged and fired off his shot without warning. He smiled smugly as his dart scored him a triple twenty.
He vacated the space, using both hands to welcome his opponent up to the spot. He watched with eager eyes as Riza Hawkeye threw the first of her darts with all the aim and precision to be expected of the Hawkâs Eye and bagged herself a matching triple twenty, just as Havoc had expected.
âWould you look at that Hawkeye. It seems weâve got the same game plan here.â
âI donât think so Second Lieutenant. Mine ends with me winning,â she said plainly as the others hooted behind them.
Havoc worked his jaw with a grimace. âWell, then I guess itâs time to shake things up,â he said, flexing his fingers as he readied himself for the next shot. The game was on.
With a soft breath, he released his dart and it landed with a sharp thump on the dartboard.
He grinned widely at Hawkeye, totalling his current score before stepping aside to make room for her. As the woman raised her arm to fire, Havoc casually stepped towards her.
âHey Hawkeye, you know your hair would look beautiful if you were to wear it down from time to time,â he said, voice low so only she could hear. He wore his best flirty pout, but from the sidelong glance she flashed him, sheâd already clocked he was attempting to goad her.
She let off her shot without a single hitch, watching with narrowed eyes as it arced through the air and slammed onto the board, exactly where Havocâs had landed. From the small smile she flashed at him, his words had had no effect â her shot had still hit exactly where sheâd intended.
Shaking off his first failed attempt at distracting her, Havoc took another shot. Heâd have to try harder to get to her next time.
When she got ready to fire again, Havoc talked about how mysterious she was, and that half the bar couldnât help but stare at her - all stuff in his arsenal that would usually have girls swooning at him â but it had no effect on his colleague. Hawkeye only looked him dead in the eye as she fired, equalling the score between them with minimal effort for a second time.
As Havocâs jaw hit the ground, the woman merely smirked at him. âYou're gonna have to try harder than that Second Lieutenant.â
Havoc bit the inside of his cheek. If he played his shots right, he could win the game in two shots, but not if she kept matching him dart for dart. He had to get both shots perfect and get her to throw at least one, otherwise the night was done.
Glancing back at the sofa, he saw the team watching the two of them. Falman and Fuery gave him a thumbs up as he went to throw, whilst Breda gave the slightly more appreciated middle finger. Havoc couldnât help but notice that Mustang wasnât looking at him at all. The manâs gaze seemed to be stuck somewhere to his right where âŚ
He hid his grin behind his hand as he spun to face the dart board again. It seemed like heâd found himself a trump card after all.
His threw his shot, and whilst Hawkeye was lining up her own, he took the opportunity to lean in towards her. She threw him a confused glance as he remained silent, but he knew that his timing had to be just right.
He waited patiently for her to pull the shot back, and right as she was about to release it, he struck.
âSay, how long have you and Mustang been together?â
He knew he had her under his thumb the minute her eyes widened in surprise, disrupting her focus enough that her hand slipped and messed with her aim. The dart he knew would have otherwise landed on the same spot as his own flew through the air wildly and landed on the outer edge of the board, giving him the edge he needed to win.
"Oohoo, Lieutenant,â he taunted. âWhat a shot!" he said, hopping in the spot with glee. A part of him couldnât quite believe that his plan had even worked at all, and it became even more unbelievable when Hawkeye turned to him with a look of pure annoyance on that usually blank face of hers.
âThe Colonel and I arenât together.â
Havoc whistled low. "I only meant to ask how long you two have known each other Hawkeye. No need to get all worked up over it." He clicked his tongue softly and the First Lieutenant gave him a dark look, warning him against his next words.
He bit his tongue and Hawkeye simply sighed, blowing her hair out of her face before giving up the firing position. As Havoc took up the mantle to shoot, he knew he would have to get the shot perfect.
He knew his limits and getting this far on Riza Hawkeyeâs bad side was more than enough for him to handle. Any more and it would definitely not be worth the payoff.
Her reaction at least confirmed something Havoc thought to himself, although he was too focused on winning the game to quite place what it was. As he lifted up his dart to his line of sight, he couldnât help but give one final retort, knowing that this would be the final shot that brought him victory.
âThank you Lieutenant. I believe youâve just given me a solid win over almost everyone behind us,â he said loudly, his gaze drifting to the sofa. Everyone was watching him with bated breath, but he couldnât help but notice that Mustang was the only one frowning.
Was he really that mad at losing the pool?
Havoc shook off the thought. âOne bulls eye coming up,â he stated, making sure to aim for the fifty points that would bring his score down to zero.
Any higher or lower and the game was forfeit.
If he went too high he'd lose by default and going too low would give Hawkeye the chance to match his score again and end the game in a tie. He'd distracted her once tonight already, and he highly doubted she'd fall for it again. Besides, he already knew she'd find some way to get back at him for his words earlier and he was reluctant to dig himself in deeper.
Steadying his nerves and shaking hand, he pulled back to fire when he heard an unexpected name from his side.
âCatalina, what in godâs name are you wearing?!â
Havoc couldnât help it. Even though he knew not to trust anything Mustang said at any point in the game, he turned without thought to see where the man was looking. The dart flew out of his hands without aim and he turned back just in time to see it veering off course and lodging into a wooden beam in the wall.
Fuck.
Damn that Mustang, he groaned internally. And damn that Catalina too, this was all her fault after all. He turned back to the bar behind him to scan the faces around them and berate her, but no matter how hard he looked, he couldnât see Rebecca anywhere.
So what exactly had the Colonel-
It took one look at the manâs half hidden smirk for Havoc to know what was up. It seemed he wasnât the only one playing dirty to win tonight. Hawkeye was too proper to fight fire with fire, but it seemed their superior had no such qualms.
Fuck.
He knew even before the First Lieutenant stood to take her next shot that the game was over. Having gained no points this round, she would easily knock her score to zero in the next round and tie with him.
Having already given up, Havoc fired half-heartedly during his next turn and barely hit the board, his score still too high to win. When Hawkeye got the bullseye she needed to hit zero, he heard the sofa behind him, who had all been holding their breath in anticipation, burst into life.
Havoc clicked his tongue in defeat, pulling out his cigarette as Fuery and Falman burst into celebratory whoops â he didnât know why either of them were so excited since neither of them had placed their bets on Hawkeye, but who was he to judge.
A win was a win after all.
When Fuery thrust Hawkeyes hand in the air and named her the reigning champion, Havoc knew heâd need several drinks to take away the sharp sting of defeat. How did he play dirty, come so close, and then still end up losing?
It was embarrassing when he thought about it.
As he passed by the sofa on his way to the bar, the Colonel caught his eye with a smug smile. Havoc continued walking right past him without commenting on it. He was much too sober to be engaging in a dispute with his superior officer, that was for sure.
The rain splashed against the windows of the car with a rhythmic drumming, accompanied by the occasional swish of the wipers as Riza drove to the East City Barracks â the others having been too inebriated to even attempt to get behind the wheel.
Sergeant Fuery had called shotgun, and within seconds of sitting down, had proceeded to fall asleep against the door and add his light snores to the already loud weather outside.
Behind her, she could hear the other four bickering about their winnings, or losings, for the night. Well, Havoc seemed to be the only one bickering, the others were either gloating or attempting to keep from falling asleep.
âYou know what I donât even care anymore,â Havoc slurred, having attempted to drown his loss with his cup. âI had that win in that bag till you threw me off at the end. Whyâd you do it Boss. Is it cause you really do have a thing for Hawkeye, huh?â
Riza tried her hardest to keep her eyes on the road, but she couldnât resist peeking at rear-view mirror. Havoc was staring at their superior with a narrowed gaze, half leaning over the top of Falman who looked half a second away from passing out.
The Colonelâs face was blank and unreadable. He said nothing, responding only by lifting a wad of cash out from his pocket and waving it at Havoc in answer. The Second Lieutenant had the gall to look disappointed as his head bounced between Breda and Mustang, the two winners of the night, and she shook her head softly as she returned her eyes to the road.
The back of the car fell silent not long after, and Riza got the distinct impression that it was because theyâd all fallen asleep. But when she glanced behind to confirm, she was met with a pair of dark eyes that watched her with an intense look.
The Colonelâs lips quirked into a little smile as she caught him, but he didnât look away. Her gaze flitted between the road and the mirror, but his eyes remained on her up until the moment the car came to a halt and the others began to stir.
The group fell out of the car and straight into the dreary late night, with not a single one of them prepared enough to have brought along an umbrella. They shivered as the cold rain washed away their sleepiness, bidding their farewells as quickly as possible before beginning the short run to their barracks.
Mustang however hung back. Riza could feel his gaze on her as she locked up the car, and he fell into step with her as she began to walk.
âYou didnât have to wait for me Colonel. Weâre headed in different directions,â she pointed out.
Mustang merely shrugged. His hair was already so soaked with rainwater that it clung to his forehead, and Riza had no doubt that her own was doing something similar. Although, she wasnât the one with the aversion to water.
They walked together in silence, pausing at the edge of the street where they would part ways. She was about to wish him a goodnight when his hand landed firmly on her shoulder, keeping her from leaving.
âHang on a second Lieutenant,â he said, reaching into his pocket and pulling out the wad of cash heâd waved at Havoc earlier. âYour winnings for the night.â
âI didnât join the bet, Sir,â she clarified, refusing the money.
âYeah, but I figure since youâre the only reason I won you should get a cut. You could buy yourself some nice flowers or something.â
âNo thank you, Sir. Itâs yours, you should spend it on whatever you like.â
âCan I spend it on flowers for you?â
âRoy, no,â she retorted. âI mean, Sir.â
Rizaâs face burned hot at the momentary slip, but her superior officer barely seemed to care. As she looked up at him through her lashes, she saw him pouting like a child as he replaced the money in his coat pocket.
He turned to her with a sigh. âI suppose youâll be going now.â
âYes. Good night, Colonel.â
Mustang gave her a curt nod, but the smile that accompanied it made her dread having to answer the door in the morning for fear of drowning in blooms. She really hoped he wasnât being serious about the flowers.
âGood night, Riza.â

Arguments of Concern - Part Three
The love I got on âescapismâ was so great, thank you so much <3
I also donât remember much of the beach scene so ignore inaccuracies pls lol
WORD COUNT: 2105
[PART ONE] [PART TWO]
Adam was fast asleep on (Y/N)âs lap as Tommy drove them towards Margate. He was excited when he was told that he was going on a trip to the beach and spent the first couple of hours excitedly chatting and asking his parents a hundred questions before he became bored and tired, allowing his parents to spend the remaining hour of the journey to talk without the chance of having little ears overhearing anything that was said.
Whilst their relationship had slightly improved compared to before, (Y/N) was still bitter at Tommy for getting involved with Mosley and subsequently dragging them into the mess too. Adam was her number one priority and despite how much she hated the idea of it, she would take him and leave Tommy if she needed to. Tommy was the love of her life and has provided her with everything she could ever need but slowly the bad was overtaking the good and she didnât think she could just watch from the sidelines anymore.
Tommyâs hand on her thigh brought her out of her thoughts,
âYou okay?â
âHmm, just thinking about this mysterious friend of yoursâ (Y/N) teased, pulling his hand off her thigh before lacing their fingers together.
Tommy brought their conjoined hands up and pressed a kiss on the back of her hand, âDonât want to ruin the surprise.â
âThe surprise...â (Y/N) scoffed, âDonât tell me itâs one of your old flings or girlfriends?â
Tommy snorted a laugh, âIf I did that, I wouldnât have to worry about Mosley killing me since I know youâd kill me before heâd even get a chance.â
(Y/N) made a vague noise of distress before she pulled her hand free of his and whacked him on the arm,
âDonât joke about dyingâ She scolded him.
â âm sorry.â
âNo, youâre not.â
âNo, Iâm not.â Tommy threw her a smirk and wink causing her to giggle.
If (Y/N) tried her hardest briefly forget about the actual reason why they were going to Margate, she could pretend that they were just taking a small holiday as a family.
âWhen all this is over, weâll go away somewhere. You, me and Adam. Just the three of us eh?â Tommy spoke up after a few moments, glancing at her.
âHmm, we can go to Wales or Ireland.â
Tommy smiled at her, âWe could stay in a caravan. Adam would enjoy it.â
(Y/N) bit her lip before she spoke again, slightly hesitating, âWhen this is done...youâll take a step back right? From the more dangerous stuff?â
Tommy sighed â(Y/N)...â
(Y/N) also sighed, âIâm not being unreasonable Tommy, Iâm not telling to completely stop with the illegal side of the business. All Iâm asking is to not get involved in dangerous situations with dangerous people like you have nothing to lose, because you do Tommy. You have us.â
âWeâll talk more about it when everything is over.â
(Y/N) simply nodded, not wanting to fight and wake Adam.
They had arrived at Margate now, driving right by the coast, no doubt close to their final destination.
âItâs gorgeous.â (Y/N) gasped as she peered out of the window, gazing at the beach and at the people making the most of the end of the summer heat before autumn fully settled in. The scent of the salty air and the sound of the seagulls made (Y/N) smile, she found the place somewhat calming.
Five minutes later and they were pulling into the drive of a mansion and even though the hedges were preventing her view, (Y/N) knew they were still close to the seafront as she could still hear the crashing of the waves and the faint sound of people.
Tommy got out of the car first and made his way over to her side of the car and opened the door for her. (Y/N) missed the figure step out of the mansion and make his way down the stairs that were in front of the mansion as she tried to step out of the car with Adam in her arms.
âHere lemme take him.â Tommy took Adam in his arms, the young boy still fast asleep. As grew older, he also grew heavier meaning that (Y/N) couldnât hold him for long periods of time, making her miss the days where he was tiny and never wanted to leave her arms.
âMrs Shelby! Itâs wonda-ful to see ya lovely face again, shame you brought ya husband along with you though.â
(Y/N) whipped around to where the voice came from, instantly recognising it. She couldnât believe her eyes and when she looked back at Tommy to make sure that she wasnât hallucinating, she received a nod that told her that he was real.
âAlfie? Jesus ChristâŚâ (Y/N) murmured as she made her way over to him.
Her eyes caught on the large scar on his face, âWhat happened to you? Tommy only told me you had died.â
âOh, this thing âere?â Alfie pointed at his scar, âYea well, you can blame your husband for thaââ
âYou asked me to kill you, Alfie.â Tommy sounded like heâd had this conversation many times before.
âYou what?!â
âIn my defence luv, I did think I was going to die anyway.â
âI...uh..â (Y/N) was speechless.
âIâll explain  when we get inside.â Tommy told her as he moved to stand next to her.
Alfieâs eyes catch on Adam who was clinging on to his father in his sleep, âIf it isnât little Tommy Jr, heâs grown a lot hasnât he?â
Alfie had only met Adam once when he had visited Tommy at the house, (Y/N) had just come home from a walk with a then two-year old Adam when Adam had run into Tommy office to say hello to his father. Alfie had immediately taken note of how similar the father and son looked and the started to call Adam, âTommy Jrâ. (Y/N) was pretty sure that he had only done it to annoy Tommy, which it did- not that Alfie would ever find out.
âI think we need to talk, donât we? Letâs head inside yeahâ Alfie led them into their house and sent his maid off the make them some tea.
Tommy placed Adam on the couch so that he was laying down before taking a seat next to him and (Y/N) sat on Tommyâs other side so that he was in the middle.
âRight, so what happened?â (Y/N) asked as she shrugged off her coat.
Alfie a slightly guilty expression on his face but Tommy began talking before she could question him.
âRemember the boxing match a few years ago?â Tommy asked his wife
(Y/N) sat up slightly, âWhen you were dealing with the Italians? Yeah, why?â
âAlfie had betrayed us-- me and sent Changrettaâs men undercover as his to kill me, except they attacked Arthur instead.â
(Y/N) stared at Alfie, gobsmacked, âI..why would you do that? Actually, why am I surprised, youâve betrayed us before!â
Alfie just winced and kept silent.
âAnd so when I went to confront him, he tells me that heâs suffering from skin cancer but he wanted to go out his own way--â
âHe wanted you to kill him?â (Y/N) caught on.
âI didnât wanâ to die because of fuckinâ cancer. The doctor said that I most likely got it from the trenches in the war and thatâs not how I wanted to die. He also said that it would be painful and long anâ thatâs no way for a gangster to go out is it?â There was both pain and anger in Alfieâs voice.
âSo you betrayed Tommy because you knew that he would kill you?â
Alfie nodded, â(Y/N)...I wanted it to be quick and painless. I didnât want to die from cancer.â
âOh, Alfie.â (Y/N)âs heart hurt for him.
âI didnât want to shoot him at first but then he shot at me so I shot at him back.â
âYou got shot?! You told me you were dealing with Arthur after he had one of his episodes.â
âIf I told you I got shot, you would have killed me.â Tommy smiled at his wife.
âYouâre absolutely right.â
Whines and grunts came from Adam as he slowly woke up, his body shuffling against Alfieâs couch. (Y/N) couldnât help but laugh as he sat up, his face was puffy and his hair was a mess, there was also a frown marring his face, clearly not appreciating the fact that he had been woken up.
âMama?â He croaked as he crawled over Tommy and into her arms.
âHello poppet, did you have a nice nap?â (Y/N) ran her fingers through his hair, trying to tame it.
âUh-huh, I had a dream that there was a big lion but dada saved us before it could eat us!â
âDada saved us? How lucky are we huhâ (Y/N) pressed a kiss to his forehead
âHere, drink this Adamâ Tommy passed Adam a glass of water that he easily gulped down.
Feeling refreshed and no longer tired, Adam twisted on (Y/N)âs lap but froze at the sight of Alfie sat opposite them.
âHello there, Iâm Alfie Solomons.â Alfie lent forward and held his hand out.
Adam silently stared before leaning forward and shaking his hand âIâm Adam Shelby.â
âNice to meet you, Mr Shelby.â
Adam paused before he spoke again, âWhat happened to your face?â
âAdam!â (Y/N) hissed but she didnât know why she was surprised, he was a kid and kids were curious.
âNahh itâs orright, heâs fine. I had an accident and hurt myselfâ
âDid it hurt?â
âFor a bit, yeah, but Iâm fine nowâ
âOkay!â That seemed to satisfy Adam who no longer seemed interested anymore.
Tommy shifted as he pulled his watch out of his pocket and sighed when he checked the time, âI have to go.â
âWeâve just got here.â (Y/N) whispered, upset.
âDo you like ships Adam?â (Y/N) smiled at Alfie, knowing that his plan was to distract Adam so that she could talk to Tommy.
âI donât think heâs ever seen one.â (Y/N) laughed.
âIf weâre lucky we can see one from the balcony, wanna see if can see any?â
Adam looked up to his parents for permission, excited at the prospect at seeing ships. (Y/N) and Tommy nodded and he eagerly jumped up off of (Y/N)âs lap and allowed Alfie to take him to the balcony.
âCan you not stay any longer?â (Y/N) asked her husband.
âI wish I could. You have no idea how much I want to stay with you and Adam and hide from everything back home.â Tommy pressed his head against hers and wiped away the tears that slowly began to fall down her cheeks.
âYou must come back to me. You must come back to us because I donât know how I survive if youâre dead.â (Y/N) sobbed.
âI will come back to you but if something does happen then you must promise to do what we planned yeah? You take Adam and you go.â
âThomas!â
âPromise me (Y/N)â Tommy made sure she was looking at him in the eye as he made her promise.
âI promise. I promise you, Tommy. If something happens, Iâll take Adam and go.â
âGood.â Tommy pressed a kiss to (Y/N)âs lips. âI love you.â
âI love you too. I love you so much, Tommy.â (Y/N) kissed him back and they continued kissing before Tommy pulled away and stepped back.
âAdam, come say bye to dada!â (Y/N) called out so that Adam could hear her from the balcony.
âBye? Why?â Adam wondered in with Alfieâs binoculars in his hands.
Tommy knelt down in front of him, âDada has to go back home for a bit but Iâll be back soon, okay?â
Adam frowned but nevertheless nodded, âCan we see the ships together when you come back?â
âOf course. Weâll go to the beach as well okay?â
Adam grinned excitedly and hugged Tommy, âOkay. See you soon! Love you!â
Tommy tightly wrapped his arms around Adam and kissed the side of his head. âLove you tooâ
Alfie took Adam back outside while (Y/N) followed Tommy to the car to say one more goodbye.
âCome back to me okay?â
âI will. I love you.â Tommy gave her one last kiss before getting into the car.
âI love you too.â (Y/N) said before Tommy drove away.
