anyway air was playing music from spotify’s generated playlist (or something) & they go ‘they put tracy chapman’s fast car on the breakfast playlist’ (or something? maybe the lunch playlist) & I’m like ‘I have never heard tracy chapman’s fast car’ because I haven’t, I only know it by name or it being referenced somehow. actually after listening to it, I have no idea if I might’ve heard it before or not because it certainly didn’t sound like what I’d expect from a song called ‘fast car’ so it’s entirely possible I’ve heard it without knowing what it was. anyway they move on and say something like ‘steely dan’s on the lunch playlist’ and I go ‘I have never heard steely dan’ because I think the closest I’ve gotten to his music is knowing the jojo character, and they play whatever song it was, and I don’t remember it, so again, entirely possible I heard and forgot about it. anyway another song comes up on the lunch playlist and after the first verse I’m like ‘oh I know this one!’ and sing a line from the chorus & air’s like ‘how have you not heard any of those other songs but you know this song???’ because it’s a random-ass song from the 1950s & I’m like ‘? I dunno? maybe because it’s cole porter’

Birthday gift for my dear friend who loves vampires♥ . The whole thing was made in three days, I had too much fun drawing it! I created the cover drawing in the car on the way to the birthday party. So I had no time to scan it :D Well, if you enjoy reading it let me know and I will try to post more (I am making comics for my friend regularly, I am just too ashamed to translate and upload these silly things online x_x ) _____________________________________ Patreon Commissions

there is a judge in Seattle who does the weekly name change hearings, and who says it's her favorite part of the week. she says she doesn't read out previous names, or ask about the reasons why people want to change them. she says it's a beautiful moment, and a celebration; a claiming of a new identity, or a reclamation of an old identity. she encourages the room to clap for folks. then she welcomes everyone up, one by one, by last name and with warmth; she shows them the court order where nobody else can see, asks them to double check the spelling, and then they're done! do they want a picture? do they want their friends and loved ones who came with them to be in it too? do they want the court order in the photo? she helps everyone pose, shakes hands and stands with them for as long as they need to take it, recruits the clerk for help taking photos of the folks who came alone. then she tells them where to go next, congratulates them, and claps along with the rest of the room.
probably three quarters of the people there were trans, and she centered their experience quietly, with love and joy.
I think I'll be thinking about her a lot this January, and for a long time after. it's good to know she's there.

the worst part about being an adult is thay its no longer socially acceptable to just roll down a really big hill and then run back up it and roll back down again. "oh is this a syphilis metaphor" passerby would ask. "is this for a tick tock". no i just wanna come home covered in dirt and scratches and bask in the the solace of childlike mirth

Pomegranates have diverse cultural-religious significance, as a symbol of life but also as a symbol of power, blood and death.
It had a strong association to Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love

I'm knitting in the corner at a party
and guys my age stop by to tell me I remind them of their aunt, of their grandmother. This is a compliment and I take it as such. They confess to having tried crochet once, and I smile. They get back in line for the bathroom.
I'm knitting in the corner at a party and a queer woman sits on the floor next to me, arranges her skirt, and smiles up at me. (I try not to blush.) She asks me all the questions on her mind about my craft and I answer them, hands still moving. We swap yarn sources. She doesn't stay, but she knows where to find me.
I'm knitting in the corner at a party and everyone knows where to find me when they need a minute, when socializing is too much and the music is too loud and they need to catch their breath. They pretend to be checking in on me, which is sweet, but I can see the relief in their eyes the moment they stop performing for a house full of people. They sit down and tell me things and all the while they never take their eyes off my hands.
The party has wound down and I'm still knitting and the hosts, two guys in their twenties, thank me for "helping to curate the vibe." I had no idea that's what I was doing. I leave the party having forgotten to drink anything and without that woman's number but with many rows added to my top-down raglan sweater. I call it a night, and a good one.
