Hi everyone. I've been putting some thought into the best way to bring this up without making light of it, since this is a serious topic and this is a very unserious blog. I don't want to reblog a bunch of individual posts without context and explanations attached, but if I find posts that I feel are thorough and explain what is going on, I may reblog them. Here is a summary, for anyone completely unaware of what is happening:

A trans woman (Rita, URL was Predstrogen, now Cyprederone) has had her account falsely flagged as NSFW and banned multiple times as a result of a transmisogynistic harassment campaign against her. You may have seen people talking about how her transition timeline has been flagged mature content, multiple times.

Support have been unhelpful when it comes to the harassment, and dubiously helpful about restoring accounts until this latest event.

People reached out to Photomatt about the topic, who is the CEO of Tumblr. He decided to respond, claiming that Rita was personally harassing him and posting death threats about him. This does not line up with the official reason why Rita was banned, which was "sexually explicit materials". The "death threat" was a slapstick post about an exploding car full of hammers. Matt threatened to contact the police or FBI about the threat, used neutral pronouns for Rita despite being informed of her pronouns, and even referred to her as 'it' in one sentence. He referred to Rita as "pergstrogen" in one post, which may be a particularly unfortunate typo, but may also be an ableist slur. He also sent people direct messages about the topic. Matt denied any possibility of transmisogyny playing a part, and suggested that people who feel this site is not safe for trans women should just leave to a different site.

Rita has been banned for life. Several people criticising Matt for this have also been banned.

Please pay attention to this, read other posts about it, look at Photomatt's blog (archived as of 21/02) to see the way he has handled this and Cyprederone's blog to see Rita's statement.

it also provides the allusion of safety. identity politics are rampant and people assume that people are safe because they check certain boxes when in reality all human beings are equally capable of harm. but a 15 yr old who doesnt have the experience to know that sees someone who is trans or bi or a person of color or a leftist and they unconsciously assume that person must be safe. they must be reasonable, they must just be being misunderstood somewhere. surely someone who understands transphobia and racism to such a complex extent must not be dangerous, but thats dead wrong

these people know that people will make that assumption and that is why they use this kind of language and why debating them is such an issue. its all a tactic

I'm expecting some backlash soon from the message I sent. No regrets tbh. If you can only respect trans people that "Don't Look Like Nasty Men Lmaoo" then why should you be in a community built on the backs of trans women? I honestly don't get why someone would make such a gross depiction of trans people then be like "I respect trans people! Just not the ones that preform societal femininity!" Do people seriously still think dysphoria is the only reason people can be trans? Wack. Plus to portray people that don't feel the need to transition as "gross perverts who take over woman's spaces" is really fucked up? Idk i'm not good at articulating words about this. But WHY focus on this at all? What damage has trans people/or even the trans people op doesn't like have done? We all know the rapist/pervert stereotype is a myth created by NON LGBT about people that don't fall into extreme western gender roles??? To take that stereotype and just be like "Well it doesn't apply to Lgb+, only the dirty transies that don't comply to these rules." Racism, misogyny (the actual kind not the watered down terf kind), ableism, even HOMOPHOBIA within the Lgbt community is more rampant than whatever made up issues come from not respecting all trans people.

Defining womanhood by sex, chromosomes, gender sterotypes, how much sexism you experience, etc is a stupid idea. Defining womanhood at all is kinda stupid too, bc everyone has their own idea of what makes a Woman a Woman. But I know my version doesn't tell people that they have to fit MY version to be acceptable. Do you check so see if someone has a vagina before you use her pronouns? Do you turn your head to people that don't present a doctor's note of their body's chromosomes? Do you scoff at butch lesbians for "trying to act like men!" Do you deny woman's resources to those that "don't think sexism is a big deal." You don't? Am I strawmanning you? You don't like that? Maybe don't do it to others?

I think op should be allowed to resources/lgbt help. I think op deserves a life of happiness. But why should they be involved/active in a community, when she damns an innocent portion of it? It's not oppression that people don't like the shit you're spouting, and don't want to invite you into their circles.
