canon is billy (sweetest boy ever) being taught all about paganism and spirituality by his mom and actively participating in rituals with her as a kid. i am in love with the concept and the thought of him carrying out those traditions once him and steve have a home of their own, fr.

because i’ve said this a million times before and i’ll say it a billion times over but it’s all i can think about, honestly. even on the days of celebration that most pagan religions don’t abide by exactly— for example, new year’s eve!

like, can you imagine harringrove’s first nye in their own little apartment? christmas would be an absolute blast, yea but a day or two later and billy would be turning the place upside down trying to clean. i mean, vacuuming, dusting, bagging stuff up and forcing steve to help him with all of it (which he grumbles about but does anyway because he’s boy crazy about him).

he’d open every window and every door, only to be reminded that “hawkins is fucking freezing, babe— this isn’t california” so he’d have to relax a little. but once steve’s out at work? he’s back to his shenanigans and airing out all of the bad energy.

he’d teach steve about manifestation and meditation, too. or rather, he’d try to before hawkin’s hottest resident started fidgeting and sighing and fiddling with a million other things. and then naturally, billy would have to roll his eyes at him and finally give him some attention.

billy would also probably write a few letters to ring in the new year.

to max, of course; apologizing and wishing for her to be happy and live brightly and to be everything that his teenage self couldn’t be. he’d also write to susan and his dad; the latter of whom, he wished to never see again.

he’d wax absolute poetic about steve in his and hope for his happiness; imbue every bit of his love into the point where pencil and paper meet and wish for long, long lives together.

the last one would be penned to his mom, though; uncertain and full of questions. smudged. slightly damp. wrinkled and ripped in places where he erased too much or wrote too hard but the longest of them all.

and then he’d tuck them all into a little shoebox and leave it at the back of their closet. not in an attempt to hide them like he did— he wasn’t at cherry lane anymore — but to keep them safe.

he’d boil orange peels for purification, love and happiness in the day— the scent clinging to every inch of their home. and steve would moan about the smell but he’d be smiling and holding billy sososososo close that it wouldn’t even matter.

(it worked as well as he remembered it doing for his parents; before things took a turn for the worst, at least)

and at midnight, they’d light white candles and wrap around each other in bed while the rest of the world celebrated, too. billy would trace sigils into the flesh of steve’s palm and kiss the crown of his head in the soft, dim light of their room. he would quietly set his intentions for them and because he’s not a monster, the rest of steve’s little dork gang that he cared so much about. he’d ask the universe for endless years of this peace, their safety and the perfect thing that they had created in hawkins.

akito who is known for being so hard on himself because he always pushes himself to become better and is rarely ever happy for himself + immediately shuts down any sense of pride he might have for himself "why do i want to be loved" & toya who was forced into classical music at a very young age and when he finally broke free and wanted to do his own thing his family hated him and he only found solace and a sense of resolve through meeting akito and owes everything to him "why do i want to love"

this line being a direct reference to the vbs main story where toya didn't want to be partners with akito anymore because he believed that he wasn't worthy enough of a partner to be with akito he believed he had the weakest resolve and determination among all of them and that akito deserved people/partners were actually as determined as he was, like an and kohane

the line directly after that "never needed to look for the words" because after that happened akito managed to confront toya but he didn't convince him or anything he just helped toya realize that he has the same resolve he (akito) does and that he's just being hard on himself akito's confrontation where he tells him he's good enough and that he wouldn't think of teaming up with anyone but toya

(i read like...half of We Are Robin, Joker War, and i've read batman from where zdarsky come in so like have also read Gotham War.) (might read Catwoman?? not the point.)

since we're sticking strictly to net positives, i'll include something that i like, even if i have criticisms of it, but i won't get into those criticisms so we can stay positive!! reasons for why I'm doing my speech on this: I heard two 6th graders talk about a hypothetical person they would marry, they were asking those eraser things that you flip with yes and no on them and asked if the person they'd marry would be a woman, it landed on yes, and then asking if they'd be trans, when the eraser landed on yes, they began referring to them as an 'it' and said: "oh, so it's just a man then."

By grade 6 you should know that that's not true?? Or okay to say out loud??? my school likes to say it's diverse and accepting, but I've seen people glare at the GSA slides in the morning announcements, I've seen kids stop being friends with someone because they were gay, I've seen people being deadnamed, people being outed, people using 'gay' as an insult, and I really do wonder where they got the notion that they were accepting from. I mean, it could be worse, but it SHOULD be better.

You and Buddha sat quietly in the shared bed, the soft noise of the outside filling the void. His slightly calloused hands ran up your back. He caressed the sides of your torso and pulled you closer to him. Rarely were words exchanged in moments like this. You were just happy to be in the gods presence. Your eyes were closed as you rested gently on the pillow. You both had just woken up not to long ago, but what's better than morning cuddles? You felt Buddha shift away from your for a second, causing you to frown a bit.

His usual routine of course was to grab a piece of candy. You found it a bit silly, but it was cute at the same time. The wrapper crinkled as he opened the candy, popping it in his mouth. He rolled back over, his hands tracing up your torso. His fingers ran along your scars, his head resting in the crook of your neck.

“Mm.. you smell so nice hun.. sweeter than candy..”

His hands traveled lower and lower til they rested at your hips. His fingers danced along your delicate skin as you leaned into his touch. His hands grew lower and lower til they slipped underneath your boxers. He felt you squirm slightly and he grinned.

Buddha positioned himself so his hands could caress all of you body. His hands slipped towards your area, watching your brows knit up and your eyes close hard and fast. I am SOSOSOSOSO curious to see how you'll continue Burn It To Ashes. Do you have anything you'd like to talk about for that fic? I particularly love the part in the fic where Joker seems to flip from being playful and deliberately trying to rile Batman up (being insufferable) to obedient (for a lack of a better term) and willing to keep his impulses in check. I kept expecting Joker to inevitably try to break one of the "rules" Batman set, or at least pushing a boundary/ toeing the line (Just like Batman also expects him to!). But he doesn't! I love how you strictly only show Bruce's thoughts and we don't know what Joker's thinking, leaving the reader to speculate on why Joker's acting this way. I found myself asking many of the same questions Batman was. Is Batman right and is Joker just biding his time? Does Joker secretly enjoy being degraded, or is it just because Batman's doing it? Is allowing Bruce the control another way of Joker toying with Batman, meaning Joker's the one "winning" while Batman thinks he is? I love how Batman convinces himself throughout most of the fic that he's enjoying the experience because Joker isn't (punishment), contrasted by his later obvious excitement at discovering that instead Joker's thouroughly enjoying himself. It's so similar to me to their dynamic in general, where Batman can never really "win" against Joker because Joker always spins it in a way that it means he's won. I don't think Batman would've actually enjoyed it if Joker had seemed turned off and only merely allowed Batman to do what he did.

I'm really happy you like burn it to ashes! Aaa, so nice to get an in-depth ask like this with great reflections, thank you. To be honest, that fic is pretty much a consequence of Silvestri's portrayal of Bruce being a shade darker than usual, with the not-so-subtle need for domination on display. Which all Bruces have, but this one spit in Joker's face and put him in a gimp mask and then in a skintight suit he designed and then did whatever the hell "Come and get it" was... It lit my brain up like a Christmas tree, hah.

As to the questions on Joker's state of mind: yes, is the answer to most of that...? Though Joker would probably kill anyone else trying something like what Bruce did in two seconds flat. Batman has the capacity to dominate and degrade him because Joker thinks he's an equal and worthy of it. But thing is, they're both losing and winning at the same time. It's a zero sum game, despite Joker being much better at spinning it in his favor. Joker is allowing for Bruce to dominate him that way because it's Batman doing it, but he's still conflicted; he's enjoying himself and Bruce can't stop him from liking what's happening, but that doesn't mean Joker doesn't dislike his weakness being used as dangled bait to make him behave and play by Batman's rules. Neither of them are free, they're inescapably under the influence of the other, and thus will always feel a degree of hatred towards the other for it. And Bruce is banking on Joker's resentment in making it a punishment because he hates Joker's guts... but at the same time he enjoys that Joker enjoys everything he does. Because it means he's in possession of someone he can do whatever he wants to, but still won't ever leave. It's a contradictory thing; Bruce's sadism and genuine anger at all the things Joker's done drive him to make Joker suffer, but at the same he'll always be relieved that Joker isn't actually suffering, because then maybe Joker would stop being unconditionally devoted to him. So yes absolutely, I agree that Bruce wouldn't have fully enjoyed it if Joker didn't like it too.

As a sneak peek, I'll say that the continuation will be a separate work. Gonna have to make this baby a series. Because in issue #4 of Deadly Duo, Joker disobeys, doesn't he? Bruce told him not to kill people, and yet Joker threw those passengers off the train. So the next work will take place in issue #4 and be centred around Bruce enforcing... consequences of the horny kind.

I wasn’t posting about it here because I was freaking out about it in real life and got distracting so this is a late post but GUYS OH MY GOD KYLE FINNEGAN IS AN ALL STAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THEY ACTUALLY NAMED HIM TO THE TEAM!!!!!!!!!! THIS IS ALL I WANTED AND WHAT HE DESERVES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And they literally named him to the team the last possible second, apparently he was at Hershey Park when they told him and he had to yeet himself over to Texas real quick, he didn’t even make it to the derby last night lol

HIIIIIIII LILY MY LOVE!!!!!!

soooo. i am here to talk about 'as we fall, time is broken.' because. WOW

(preemptive apology bc i'm typing this on my computer so i just know it's gonna be long teehee)

first of all, it was an incredible read. i was literally in awe the entire time. like i would consider this a magnum opus of sorts. i would frame this if i could

okay a few themes i just wanted to pick apart and talk/think about:

the 'first woman' warnings - i LOVED this idea, the little inserts of the past. the idea of passing knowledge forward, knowing what happens, trying to protect someone from your own fate. but also knowing that she cannot learn from verbal warnings; she must learn from experience. the need to live dooms her

running vs protecting - we see toji run when people come to the ship, and our dear reader gets hurt, devastatingly so. even if he wasn't there, he heals her at the end. and yet, at the true end, he's not there, because he knows he would die in the process. i was just left wondering why: the obvious answer is that he's selfishly protecting his own life above someone else's, that he never loved her in a way that could change him. but yet, i was still thinking if he thought, even for a moment, that in allowing himself to continue living, that he was in fact protecting our reader. he knew she cared about him, perhaps more than herself. she would sacrifice herself for him. if he died for her, would she forgive herself? would she be happy?

pride - there are very few instances where we see toji be proud of our reader. at first, i fell head over heals with the line "was it disgust or pride that was making his lips curl?" and then, when he allows her to drink his blood to heal her, there's this question of if the look in his eyes is pride. and finally, at the end. when he's watching and choosing not to intervene, and there's the question of "would toji be proud of her in this moment, as he had been when she defended him all those years ago?...he had to be." because, again, she was saving him. it makes me wonder what truly makes toji proud - is it her sacrifice? but then, why would he be proud when he saves her? was he, too, not sacrificing something in giving a piece of himself to heal her? idk idk idk and just the dichotomy of pride and disgust and AAAHHH idk what to do with this will have to think

this is less of a theme and more just i love him asking for forgiveness in japanese (with the caveat that my japanese is HORRIBLY rusty but that was the sense i got), but in the sense that it's a plea, truly an ask, more than just an "i'm sorry." idk it just felt like, for a moment, he was truly asking something of her (as if she would not do it; as if she would not do anything for him)

aaaAAAHHH once again apologies this got so long and it's mostly just nonsense HAHAHAHAHA but i absolutely adored reading this and thinking about it and thank you for writing it and i love you!!!!!!!!!

to be honest, i absolutely adore reading what you think and have interpreted in this fic. as i’ve mentioned in previous asks, there are no right or wrong answers here. especially for part one and part three of your review. the ‘first woman’ is very much up to interpretation for who you think it is! it could be the reader, or someone else :3

part 2 is sooooooo delicious!! the way you think toji did not help her in the end to preserve himself because he thought she could never be happy in a world without him????!!!! SO DELISHHHHH MHMMMM I LIKE THIS ALOT!!!!

for part 4, as i said to a nonie in a previous ask, is that it might be toji who asked for forgiveness, and it might not be either hehehehe ;))))
