Listen!! Brainrot!!
SAGAU Childe/Foul legacy finding out that his s/o(us) were a street racing back in our world!! And a great one at that yall!!
oh my goodness wait wait WAIT first you have to introduce him to vehicles in general!!!
listen, Childe does NOT know what a car is and neither does Foul Legacy. the only thing that comes close is the aquabus in Fontaine, and that's exclusively restricted to water travel (if you ask Childe, he thinks it's just a glorified high-tech boat) so to see a machine that easily take you where you need to go with just metal and a bit of gas, even more so one that's considered COMMON has your two boys completely in awe. unfortunately, Foul Legacy's too tall to fit inside, but Childe's more than willing to sit in the passenger's seat as you drive- it's absolutely exhilarating for him, especially when you go on the highway, and after you arrive at wherever you're driving to you have to sit for a few minutes because Childe's giddy and rapidly tapping his feet with a huge, wonderful grin
as for street racing, my goodness they both think you're so cool. genuinely, they think you're amazing because as much as they love the concept of cars, it also scares them a little because of how easily one wrong move can kill someone when driving, and the fact that you're handling your vehicle so easily is incredible. Childe REALLY wants to come along, but you refuse to let him put himself into danger even more, so he'll watch from the sidelines instead. Foul Legacy, on the other hand, is more concerned with making sure that you're safe. he'll mentally pull Childe away from the crowd and take control of their shared body, watching the cars from a distance until he can see yours, specifically keeping his eye trained on it for the entire race. he lets out a soft purr when it's done, shifting back into Childe to see you with other people. but don't worry, the moment you're home you'll feel claws wrap around your waist as you're scooped into Legacy's arms, rumbling and snuggling you as congratulations on a job well done
#genshin impact#childe#tartaglia#foul legacy#foul legacy childe#genshin tartagalia#genshin childe#genshin tartaglia#chit chat#anon#ok but no lie i genuinely like driving#it can definitely be a little terrifying but i enjoy it#i'm also the one out of my friends who knows how to get to places since i spent a lot of time staring out of the window#only downside is that the car i drive is old and does not have an aux cord#so i am at the mercy of whatever the radio stations play#including a month of festive music#short scenario#good evening :)#vroom vroom hehehehehe#so uh it's the next day and i'm just realizing that i read this as Childe coming to our world not SAGAU#anon i'm so sorry aaaaa#whoopsie! still a very cool concept tho

Map of Amity Park
So I did a bunch of research and traced over the map the GIW had in DCMH and extended it to try and build a map of Amity Park. I also paid close attention to locations and places named in canon. I am by no means an artist, map maker, photoshop pro, or civil engineer; I just wanted a general reference map for the phandom to use.
Here is where I place Amity Park. We know AP isn’t in Michigan or Wisconsin, but is most likely a day drive away from Madison (Bitter Reunions). AP is a decent sized city of itself, so I can see it being an outskirt of a large city like Chicago. Lancer mentions the Northwestern Testing, and Northwestern University is in Evanston, IL, which is why I placed it where it is.
LIST OF PLACES (in great detail):
Every city needs it’s basic services: energy supply, water supply, sewage, and trash/recycling. These of course are located more on the edge of the city, as they need a large amount of space and are typically isolated.
I placed a local airport in the city as well. Typically you would fly out of one of Chicago’s airports anyway, but private planes (Vlad, Mansons, etc.) can take off and land here.
University of Amity Park is located at the north side of the city, and is home to a Nasty Burger location, an LGBT Center, and is probably near a gas station. The blocks surrounding the campus are more student housing.
Near the University, we have the Science Center, Axion Labs, a Mental Institute, and the Museum, as a lot of research from the University would go into those places.
In the more isolated areas, we have the Penitentiary, the abandoned North Mercy Hospital, and the GIW Headquarters.
The Zoo is located on the north side of the park and is also close to the University for research purposes.
The Observatory is also located in a more isolated area, so you can actually see the stars without a bunch of light pollution.
Going into the center of town, where most things are actually located:
A community college, which is near the internet cafe where Danny and Tucker play games, a gas station, a liquor store, a thrift shop, a Planned Parenthood, Java Jive (the coffee shop), a tech store, and a gym.
We also have a shoe store, the hunting goods store and Guitar Palace that Skulker and Ember take over in Reign Storm, the U-Ship Box Store the Box Ghost takes over, a barber and a hardware store.
There is a hair salon, tanning salon, and nail salon, where Paulina frequents. There is also Elmer’s Pharmacy, a dentist office, a law office, the TV repair store, butcher shop, and pet store (which we see next to each other in an episode), a toy store, and a vet office.
Government buildings include City Hall, a public library, a court house, a DMV, a bus station (for all mass transit in the city), a community center (likely where town halls are located and other smaller events; Ida plays bingo here every week), and a retirement home.
There is also the post office, Amity Park Fire Department, a bank, the 24K Jewelry shop, a nearby ice cream shop, and another Nasty Burger location (this is the one right by Casper High that the trio usually hangs at). Also an animal shelter, a grocery store, and a pizza joint.
Education: there is a preschool and daycare, the elementary school, a playground/park, the middle school (yes, a Beetlejuice reference), and Casper High. Casper High campus also has the track, a fieldhouse, and the football field.
Moving towards Amity Park Mall:
Bucky’s Music Mega Store, an apartment complex, Amity Park Police Department, a bookstore, doctor clinic, gas station, a Denny’s (where Phight Club happens), Material Grill restaurant, the mini golf course and bowling alley, Freddy Fazbear’s (which is actually a horror video game, but here it’s a kids pizza place like Chuck E. Cheese), a furniture store, a party supply store, and the movie theater (which is Marmel’s Multiplex 22, Amity Park Multiplex, and Googolplex Cinemas...it seems that they go to the same movie theater throughout the series and the names just change, or these could also be other movie theaters in the area (like near the college campus). I just picked Multiplex 22 cause it sounded very mall-y).
Along the interstate, there’s a pawn shop, a publishing house (which somehow prints all 5 of Amity Park’s newspapers), a homeless shelter, the diner, Safe House Motel, a laundromat, the 89¢ Store (a nod to Fanning the Flames), and the car dealership.
Also near the mall is Amity Arena, which hosts concerts, sports events, and other large entertainment events. There is a hotel near both the arena and the hospital (the one that isn’t abandoned and haunted). Towards the outskirts of the hospital, there’s a trailer park; north a few blocks is the TV station, where News 4 is headquartered. There’s also a construction site near Amity Arena, but that kinda went out the window when Undergrowth hit.
On the other side of town, we have:
A-Mart, a convenience store. I named it like this because it can be like an offshoot of KMart, but A for Amity!
Floody Waters, right off the interstate.
North of Floody Waters, East of Casper High, we have the main residences: the Foley household and only a couple blocks away is Fenton Works.
There’s also another gas station and the Amity Park Radio Station nearby. There’s also a private school near ultra posh Polter Heights, but the A-Listers attend Casper High because the private school doesn’t have a football or cheerleading team.
Moving into Polter Heights and the surrounding area:
The Polter Heights Golf Course and Country Club are exclusive to those in the neighborhood, as well as their private neighborhood pool; members only.
The Mayor’s Mansion (eventually Vlad’s) is located in here too.
All of the A-Listers’ houses are of course in this neighborhood, as well as Val’s previous residence and the Fenton’s temporary mansion from Living Large (which is of course right next door to Vlad, but with some distance, because the rich are always socially distancing with their big houses).
Polter Heights is adjacent to a bunch of farmland (this is the midwest, we like cows and stuff), and there is a church close by as well.
Just outside Polter Heights is the Manson Mansion (with Sam’s greenhouse). Lucky for Sam, the Skulk and Lurk Books and an occult shop are just down the street. The Manson residence is also near a funeral home and graveyard (how did Sam get so lucky? Oh, because I love her), a synagogue, Mario’s restaurant, and a dry cleaners.
We get more spacious as we get away from the center of town!
Along the shore of Lake Eerie, there are the docks which are home to many warehouses, including the mattress factory.
Also along the shoreline, there is a pier which doubles as an amusement park (think kinda like Navy Pier in Chicago in comparison) and alongside the pier is the public beach area.
Camp Skull and Crossbones is located on the other side of Lake Eerie, and the fishing area is more on the north side of the lake. Lake Eerie is not one of the Great Lakes, it’s just its own thing in Amity Park.
Back towards the park, we have event grounds space, which is where Circus Gothica is located, as well as the Meet Swap and flea market. Basically whatever rotating event hits town, it comes right here. Just next door is a theatre (for music, opera, Broadway, etc.). There is also the third and final Nasty Burger location in AP.
This is all surrounding the actual park Amity Park, which has a pond, a big fountain, and also hosts that really big hill that overlooks City Hall.
On the south side, across the bridge and over the interstate is Elmerton, where Val currently is resided.
All the other blocks are filled with more office buildings, apartment complexes, houses, and businesses, but all of the main places are already listed and placed.
Finally, yes, I did name some places for myself and my friends because they’re great and they deserve it. These include Steph’s (mine) Occult Shoppe, Nick’s Liquor Emporium (@ecto-american), Lexx R Us Toystore (@lexosaurus and appropriately named after the Lexxpocalypse), Laz’s Law Offices LLC (@kinglazrus), Dee’s Dentistry (@qlinq-qhost), Lily’s Looks Thrift Store (@dannyphantomisameme), Ceci’s Funeral Home (@ceciliaspen), Vic’s Amusement Park (@babypop-phantom), and Reverie Books (@wastefulreverie).
#Danny Phantom#Amity Park#this is literally not a perfect map but here have it anyways#I hope this actually comes into use for you guys#stephanie shares things#Amity Park Map#map of Amity Park#long post

me rambling abt stuff i noticed on my deltarune chapter 2 playthrough, with a few screenshots sprinkled in. secret boss stuff included in here because i did do that
[Image ID: A screenshot of Ralsei, Susie, and Kris from Deltarune all posing next to eachother. Susie holds up her fist and smiles confidently, Ralsei holds his arms and one leg out joyfully, and Kris turns mostly away from the viewer in a cool pose. End ID.]
stuff from chapter 1 if you have save data is remembered, like the thrashing machine you created for susie and lancer.
If you go to the entrance of the school while you have the dark world stuff balanced on your head, you get a cutscene with Alphys and Toriel. Toriel is showing concern for Kris and their wellbeing, implying they have been acting stranger than normal as of late.
At aforementioned cutscene's room, you can call Toriel on your phone and insist you aren't strange.
Kris doesn't want to acknowledge or dwell on a fair amount of mentioned family stuff. They close their eyes if you try to look in Asriel's room at Queen's Mansion. They also choose not to read anymore when you try to read an article in the police station that mentions Asgore Dreemurr no longer being on the force.
Previous point, perhaps a parallel to Undertale where he hurt people like the fallen 6 children and Toriel wanted very little more to do with him and by extension was removed from the force?
The character that is (presumably) Mettaton would like something enertaining by tomorrow in game, probably meaning next chapter.
You can't hang out with Papyrus unfortunately, and his house says the trousle of bones grows fainter.
Unfortunate cutscene with Asgore, Toriel, and Sans in the latter's shop, if you go around the left side of the store. Asgore wants San's free complimentary pickles...
Cutscene at the very bottom of town as well, where Susie defends Kris who was supposedly a "weenie" about whatever is behind the locked door.
Rouxls Kaard's name is confirmed pronounces "rules".
[Image ID: A Screenshot from Deltarune Chapter 2 of Ralsei and Kris on a swan boat with Rouxls Kaard on the opposing ship, with an eyepatch and pirate hat. Rouxls' textbox reads "*Chips Ahoyeth, Landlubbers!" End ID. ]
Sans is a bit awkward at the Asgore scene, and turns away when he comes in. Also he says this in the store and I hate him for it.
[Image ID: Screenshot of San's textbox in Deltarune Chapter 2, reading: "*maybe a day... maybe another 2 years. " End ID.]
After the secret boss, Kris is asked if they are ok. In my playthrough I chose "No." and Susie and Ralsei comment on Kris apparently yelling this answer. Ralsei subsequently tries to comfort Kris, saying that there's probably no deeper meaning to the puppet imagery of the fight. I don't think Kris agrees.
Speaking of the secret fight, heres a bit of my experience with that specifically.
My game crashed when I hit the Transfer answer in the shop when working on getting to the fight. This is probably not supposed to happen, and worked just fine once I tried again.
I had more difficulty with the teacups after turning off the forcefield on the way to the fight than the fight itself. How i dealt with it aside from learning the pattern of the obstacles on the teacup ride, is to move my hand position to one pointer finger on the left and right arrow keys alone.
With the fight itself, I went the mercy route and got an armor called the DealMaker (I think) when defeating the boss.
My strategy for the fight was to use Snap All whenever my party had about half HP or more. ButJuice (lol) is very helpful but i recommend a few items that heal the entire party a bit as well, and the SpinCake was very essential for me.
Try to figure out what attacks its more helpful to charge your bullets for (in my experience, the eyes nose mouth attack, the egg attack, and the telephone attack) and what attacks to spam the minor bullets for.
If you beat this fight, go to Seam and that funny little cat will take the Crystal from you, and mention that the next fight may be impossible for you, especially without the "dark mantle" (?). Which Seam seems to say has gone missing. So we are screwed I guess.
The fight with K_K, Cap'n, and the last one I forget the name of (Sweets?) is hard in my opinion, but I didn't realize its more of getting through as many turns as possible until you get the ability to have Ralsei and Susie do their own ACTs. So it is probably ok to focus more on healing than dancing.
I gave Berdly the gift and in this case, it was a tiny plush of Berdly with nipples apparently. he appreciated it but no one else knew why Kris did it. i dont know why I did it either.
If you go back to Castle Town at the end, I noticed at least 2 NPCs mention people being left behind. Spade King says so angrily, and I believe Cap'n (whatever the radio head character is named. im sorry im bad with names) is the other who mentions such. I want to say this is because I may have failed to recruit every possible enemy.
You can find the Ice-E and Susie Statues in Kris and Susie's rooms at the end as well, if you interacted with those when they first show up.
Kris, in their room, seems to note a lack of agency again, if you check their closet. They say "They could wear whatever they want." but obviously, they cannot.
That's it of what I remember for now, because I was up till 2 AM playing it and my memory is bad. If anything significant pops up in my memory later I may add to this! Thanks for reading!

Hello you amazing human! Me having an unhealthy obsession with Kai Parker (and TV sociopaths in general) I am requesting like a Romeo and Juliet inspired story? It can be like the 1996 version of R and J and make it like modern? Idk I think you are talented and I love you and I want you to adopt me.
Here is a modern version of the 1996 Romeo and Juliet movie in the vampire diaries world. Story takes place in Mystic Falls.
Word Count: 11,032 OMG
The characters I have used/ re-written are:
Kai Parker in place of Romeo Montague from the Gemini Coven, Reader Cadell in place of Juliet Capulet from the Oasis Coven, Kai Parker's friends: Sampson, Gregory, Benvolio, Mercutio and Balthasar, The Cadell boys: Abra, Petruchio, Tybalt, The Father/ Priest, Reader Cadell’s nanny, Parents to Reader, Parents to Kai, Rosaline, The governor’s son aka Dave, Police Captain, news anchors
* * * * * * * * * * * * Scene: Local gas station* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
Kai Parker’s friends pull up to the gas station hooting and hollering. The ill tempered red head name Gregory shouts,
“Those dogs called Cadells really piss me off! Any dog from that Oasis coven will make me angry enough to take a stand!”
Sampson exclaims in response to his friend, “This quarrel is between our leaders...”
The red head interrupts “...and us their men!
“I would be a tyrant, fighting the men and being merciful to the women by cutting off their heads!”
Gregory is mock outraged, “The heads of the women?”
Sampson turns up the car radio and the boys start to dance but stop abruptly at the sight of a black car.
Sampson says, “Here comes the Oasis coven boys.”
Abra and Petruchio Cadell stare coldly. Sampson gulps nervously as Gregory nudges him mockingly.
“Fight back and take a stand, will ya?”
Sampson tries to hide his panic and responds, “Let them start the fight.”
The gas station door slams closed, BANG. The Parker boys jump at the sound, their attention drawn back to the Cadells who are laughing at the sight of the terrified group. Sampson brazenly flips them off out of embarrassment. Abra’s eyes look back in the mirror to see Sampson’s finger. Abra whips the car around full speed to block the Parker boys from escaping. He jumps out of the car and yanks Sampson out of his car.
“You dare flip me off? Huh?”
“Yeah I gave the bird.” Sampson sneers.
“You dare to?!” Abra roars, gun drawn.
“You think the police will be on our side if I say yes?” Sampson turns to Gregory.
“Nope.” Gregory grimaces.
Sampson turns back to Abra stuttering, “Well I- I did give the bird. But I didn’t give it to you.”
“You want a fight?” Gregory asked.
“No I don’t want a fight,” Abra fake smiles.
Sampson turns to Gregory, “If you do fight, I will be by your side.”
Abra laughs, “Ha! Only you two? You can’t do better?”
“Uh...”
Just then, Benvolio comes back from the bathroom, and shocked by the scene pulls his gun out.
“Here comes our back up!”
“You fools!” Benvolio shrieks, “You don’t know what you’re doing! Let us keep the peace.”
“I hate peace.” Tybalt spits. He fires his gun at a child on accident, smacking the child’s toy gun to pieces.
Benvolio panics and accidentally shoots a bullet near Tybalt’s head. Gregory shoots and nicks Abra’s arm when he attempts to move it away from his face with his magic. A gas tank explodes after a magically moved bullet hits it. A news van screeches around the corner going live with the gun fight and explosion. Tybalt corners Benvolio, placing a gun to his head.
“Look upon your death, Benvolio.”
Suddenly a burning light blinds Tybalt and the Police Captain yells through a megaphone. Police cars have surrounded the scene.
“Enemies! Place your weapons on the ground now! Stop using your magic!”
Tybalt looks to the police and stands down.
* * * * * * * * * * * * At the police station * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
The Police Captain sits down at his desk, across from the leaders of the Gemini and Oasis covens.
“This is the third time your covens have disrupted the peace of Mystic Falls in a brawl.”
Cadell’s lawyer tries to intervene, “Captain I can-”
The captain slams his fist down. “If you ever disrupt the peace again, I will personally see you both go to prison.”
* * * * * The Parkers are on an awkward ride back to their mansion * * * * *
Kai’s mother sighs and looks out the window. “Oh where is Malachai? Have you seen him yet today?” She turns to her husband. “I’m just glad he wasn’t at the fight today.”
Benvolio feels guilty and answers, “He’s been at the lake side. I saw him walking there this morning.”
Kai’s father scoffs, “He walks too much around there, crying like a child.”
“All he does is hide away in his room, penning himself up and shutting out the light to make it dark as night.”
The driver leans back, “Ma’am, I’ve just received word. He’s at the pier.”
Kai is eating a bag of pork rinds, looking out at the sunset. “Love is a smoke that leads to disappointed sighing. I will never be able to get her, the beautiful Rosaline. Niece of my enemy. Unflawed love would make me feel powerful and alive. But when one does not return the love, the love only creates sadness. Love is madness. Love is bitter tasting but keeps us preserved and alive with its sweetness.”
Back in the car the family continues to chat.
“It’s not healthy for Kai to shut himself away with this depressing behavior. He needs a friends counsel to get him over whatever troubles him.” Kai’s father urges Benvolio.
“Let me out, I’ll talk to him and see if he will tell me what is wrong.”
Kai’s father gives an encouraging smile that disappears as soon as the door is closed. “Let’s go home.” He sighs.
* * * * * * * * * * On the beach * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
“Good morning cousin,” Benvolio tries to act casual.
“Is it really only morning?” Kai asks seriously.
“It’s a new day.” He tries to act cheery.
“Sad hours seem long...” Kai turns to Benvolio. “Was that my father that just drove off?”
“Yes Kai but...” Kai shakes his head and starts to walk off, Benvolio walking swiftly after him. “What sadness makes your hours long?”
“Not having the love of her. With her the hours seem short.”
“You have gentle love in your view, but in others it is a sign of tyranny!” He exclaims.
“Whose view matters on my love...” Kai pauses when he sees a TV, playing back the news report of the fight from last night. “You had a fight?”
“I -”
Kai interrupts, “Don’t give me an excuse. I’ve heard them all. It’s much easier to hate someone than to love them. You are wasting so much time on someone who does not care about you.” He storms off in a rage, going up to the sidewalk heading toward a night club. “Why do you love to fight and love to hate, creating conflict out of nothing? My heart is swept away by love but it weighs on me that I am bound to it. It is agony my cousin.” He screams at a bouncer and uses his magic to flick him aside into trash cans. “There is no love like the one I feel,” he dark chuckles, “What cousin? Not going to laugh?”
Benvolio says nervously eyeing the crumpled bouncer, “No...I’d rather cry.”
Kai smiles mischievously, “Good bye, cousin.” And he takes off running down the sidewalk.
Benvolio sighs and starts to pursue. Finally arriving home, Kai gets to a car and a man hurriedly gives him the keys.
Benvolio cuts him off panting, “Tell me... who is it...that you love?”
“My sad heart is in love with a woman.”
“I knew it was a woman,” he rolls his eyes,
“She’s a beautiful lady.” Kai pulls down his shirt to reveal a small tattoo that says ‘Rosaline’.
“Rosaline?!” Benvolio is surprised but impressed. “She is quite beautiful.”
“She does not love me back, her heart is well guarded.”
“Hmm.. You know what? Forget about her!”
“How can I forget about her?”
“Look at all the other ladies,” he motions toward the girls on the sidewalk.
Kai laughs dismissively. “Good bye. You can’t teach me how to forget.”
Benvolio hurries and jumps into the passenger seat of the moving car. The boys head to a bar.
“She would be in just as much trouble as I would be anyway, being a Cadell and a Parker.” He continues, “I think I could keep the peace between our families though.”
The bartender smiles. “It’s honorable of you to try, it’s too bad your families are fighting.
* * * * * * * * * * At the Cadell Mansion * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
The Cadell leader of the coven, your father, is set down at a meeting with the governor’s son, Dave.
“So what do you say to my proposition?” Dave asks.
Cadell looks at the picture frame of his wife and daughter. “My daughter is still young and innocent. Give her 2 more years and then she will be a perfect wife.”
Dave is persistent. “Sir, girls younger than her are happy mothers.”
“Hmm,” Cadell eyes him hard, “And younger girls married too soon are blemished. She is my pride and joy. If you can woo her and get her consent then you have mine as well.” He comes around the desk to give Dave a fatherly pat on the shoulder. “I will hold a large feast tonight, join us and meet y/n.”
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * Back at the bar * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
Benvolio and Kai have started playing pool.
“Bring another lady into your sights and heart, then you will forget about her.” Benvolio hits a shot and Kai stops it with his hand, throwing it to hit other balls. “Are you insane?” Benvolio asks in mock outrage.
“Insanely in love, yes.” Kai mocks back, stepping toward the bar.
An entertainment show is on the TV above, the female news anchor excitedly announcing. “Tonight the rich Cadell is hosting a great feast-”
“A grand costumed event!” Her partner interrupts.
The partner starts to read off some of the important guests who will be there. Rosaline’s name is on the list and Benvolio turns to Kai, wiggling his eyebrows.
“Looks like Rosaline will be there.” Kai grimaces as Benvolio continues. “Let’s go to the feast, it’s perfect. We can sneak in disguised and find you another woman who is even more beautiful than Rosaline.”
“More beautiful than her? Ha! There has never been a more beautiful woman since the dawn of time.”
Their attention is drawn back to the anchor. “If you’re not a Parker, come and drink some wine at the feast!”
Kai pauses to think. “Fine. I’ll go, but only to prove that no one can be more beautiful than Rosaline.”
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * At the Cadell mansion * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
“Y/N!!! Y/N!!!!” Your nanny yells.
She rushes around the house trying to find you. You roll your eyes and sink down further into the bubble bath, ignoring her calls. Lady Cadell is trying to ready herself for the feast, going maniacal at the nanny screaming. She yells your name.
“God’s sake nanny, where is my daughter? Tell her to come to me.”
“I’ve been calling for her ma’am but I still can’t find her.”
“Mother, nanny? You called?” You said coolly, feigning innocence as you stood there in your bathrobe.
The nanny exclaims in shock, “Oh! Get dressed y/n!
“Just leave her alone. We will speak in private, you can stay as I need your advice.” Your mother looks casually into the mirror, examining her costume and continuing. “You know, y/n darling...I was about your age when I was married.” She turns quickly, unable to hide her excitement anymore. “The governor’s son wants to make you his wife! Isn’t that exciting?”
The nanny tries to take her side. “He is a charming young man, miss.”
“Oh the most charming and handsome!” Your mother giggles, her drinks obviously kicking in.
“What-” you are too stunned as she speaks again.
She grabs your arm, “He’s coming to the feast tonight! To see you! He is a rich man, fall in love with him. You will become his and all that is his will become yours!”
The nanny asks you cautiously, “What do you think of his love?”
You choose your words carefully, not wanting to put your mother in a foul mood. “I’ll try to like him and see if there is anything likeable, but ultimately I will only marry him if you approve and give me the strength.”
A maid comes in. “Lady Cadell, the guests have started to arrive.”
She gasps in excitement. “Hurry y/n, get ready!”
The nurse leans in to whisper, “And don’t forget to enjoy yourself.”
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * Down by the pier * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
Kai Parker and a couple friends are sitting down at the pier, watching the bright lights of the Cadell mansion from across the lake. They hear a roar of a sports engine pull up and turn back to see who it is. Getting out of the car stands Mercutio, Kai’s best friend, dressed in drag. The boys practically fall over laughing as Mercutio pretends to be posing for paparazzi.
“Now applaud!” He yells and whips out the party invites from his mini skirt.
“Holy shit dude, you did it!” Benvolio and friends jump up to grab them.
“I dunno.” Kai stands and continues to look out at the lake.
“Oh come on man! You have to go and dance.” He grabs Kai and starts to waltz.
Kai laughs and shoves him away, “You can dance but I can’t, my heart is too sad.”
“Aw, poor heart broken child.” He mocks.
Kai looks at the stars. “Is love soft, or rough harsh and rude?”
Mercutio jumps on his back. “If love is rough with you, then be rough with it. Beat it down.”
“Your love is crushing me cousin.” Kai laughs, starting to fall down.
Benvolio honks the horn impatiently. “Come on! We’re wasting daylight!”
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * At the feast * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
The boys pull up hooting and hollering. Waltzing inside, it is obvious that Benvolio and another friend have already started drinking. Kai walks in calmly, looking at the dance floor. Mercutio dances with a woman and passes her off to Kai.
“Come on, every guy should have the chance to dance.”
A Cadell boy drunkenly strides up to Kai who is dressed as a knight. He puts an arm around him, not recognizing him to be a Parker.
The Cadell yells out, “Musicians! Play us a song!”
Kai felt as if his heart would burst out of his chest at any moment. He quickly ducks out of the boys grip, abandoning the lady and tries to find an area away from the crowd. As he is walking he spots an angel. A literal costumed angel in the form of you. You are wandering through the crowd aimlessly when you spot him. Kai stares back at you, his plump lips forming a smile. His brown hair falling to the side, frames his perfect face. In that moment you knew he was the one. A yell disrupts your focus and you turn to see the nanny calling you.
“Y/N!”
You look back for the mystery boy but he has vanished. The nanny starts to drag you toward Lady Cadell and Dave, the governor’s son.
He extends his hand, “Will you dance with me?”
Knowing you can’t decline, you place your hand in his.
Your mother trills, “Oh such a fine young man.”
Kai didn’t know how it had happened but in one moment he had lost sight of you. Rushing through the crowd to find the angel again, he accidentally bumps into a Lucifer. Little did he know, the man dressed as Lucifer was Tybalt.
Tybalt then turned to Abra. “How dare Malachai come to a Cadell event. He mocks us with his mischief and antics. I will not consider it a sin to kill him in order to protect our coven’s dignity.”
He starts to storm off when your father Cadell stops him with a strong arm. “Where are you going off to?”
“It’s Kai Parker, he’s here.”
“Calm yourself, Tybalt. Don’t ruin this night, be peaceful in this house. Tolerate him for tonight and don’t waste your time on him. He’s not worth it, save it for another night.”
“I won’t tolerate him!”
Cadell rages, “You will! You will behave and stay out of any fights!” He shoves Tybalt. “You are making a scene.”
An older couple looks on shocked and Cadell tries to regain his composure. Comforting the couple he turns.
“Don’t worry, cheer up and have some drinks.”
They smile heartily and walk away. Turning back to Tybalt, he harshly whispers. “I am the leader of this coven and you will obey me. Now go away.”
Kai spots you on the dance floor once again, but this time you are with a man. He whispers, “I have never known what love truly means until I have spotted this angel. I take back and disown the idea of love I had for Rosaline.”
Even dancing with Dave you were still distracted by looking for the handsome mystery boy. Then you spot him again, your eyes connecting. You quickly look back to Dave, not wanting to seem too distracted but within a moment you were back to staring at the boy over his shoulder. The lights black out, colorful spotlights turn on as confetti and balloons rain down. You had stopped dancing. You let out a gasp as a hand suddenly yanks you behind a curtain. There stands Kai, he pulls you close to his body so your chests are almost touching.
“Your hand is so clearly holy, if I offend you by touching it with my rough unholy hand, then let me make it better with a kiss.” Kai woos.
“Don’t be so hard on yourself. You holding my hand is a sign of devotion. Placing our hands together is a palmer’s kiss.”
“Might I suggest we do with our lips what we do with our hands?” Kai kisses your lips sweetly. “Now my sins are gone.”
“Oh but now your sins are on my lips and the only thing that can make it better is another kiss.”
Kai kisses you once again. “There, now all is right.”
“You are very clever in coming up with reasons to steal kisses from me.”
Suddenly the nanny interrupts. “Y/n, your mother wants a word with you.”
You head toward your mother, and wave a hand, signaling Kai not to follow but he trails anyway. Kai watches the nanny and you head up the staircase instead of leaving like the guests. At the top is a furious Lady Cadell standing with Dave. Your eyes dart nervously to Kai as your mother starts to harshly whisper in your ear. She pullls you away from the stairs and that is when it dawns on him.
“She is a Cadell?” he whispers under his breath.
You stop to look back at Kai and the nanny whispers in your ear. “HIs name is Malachai Parker from the Gemini coven.”
You feel a coldness fill your chest, disappointment and reality crashing down. Mercution runs up and claps a hand on Kai’s shoulder.
“The party is starting to break up, we need to leave now so we don’t draw the attention of the Cadells.”
“It’s what I thought, yet I’m still dissatisfied.”
Mercutio ushers him out to the waiting car while Kai looks back over his shoulder longingly. As Mercutio starts to drive the boys away, noisily singing, he spots you in the window.
You see Kai and whisper, “My true love is born from the coven that I’m born to hate. I fell in love too soon and now it is too late to hate him. It is such a large degree of love, that I must love my enemy.”
You close the window and lean your head against the glass, unable to take your eyes off Kai’s disappearing form. Down below in the doorway stands Tybalt, also unable to take his eyes off the enemy.
“I will obey my uncle tonight. Malachai’s intrusion may seem sweet but it is bitter and will come back to poison us in the end.”
* * * * * * * * * * * * Out at the car * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
There is a traffic jam from all the cars trying to leave. Kai sighs and whispers beside his noise raucous of friends. “How can I leave here when my heart stays behind? I have to go back.”
Kai leaps out of the slow moving car and Benvolio yells.
“Kai! Where are you going?”
Kai is running back along the road, using the cars and bushes as a way to shield himself from the guards’ view. He stealthily climbs vines and leaps onto the other side of the stone wall bordering the property. Mercutio pulls the car around in front of the gates that are swinging shut.
Benvolio points out, “I think he ran that way. Call his name!”
“I’ll do you one better,” Mercutio laughs. Jumping out of the car he dances in front of the gate swaggering like a flirtatious drunk lady. “Oh Kai!” He calls in a falcetto voice, “It’s me Rosaline! Come to my plump lips, my bright eyes and my long legs and quivering thighs!”
The boys cheer Mercutio on. Kai smiles at his calling.
“He makes fun of love scars that are non existent.”
The boys are now laughing hysterically at Mercutio swooning around like a love sick fool. The fun is cut short when a security guard yells and a spotlight comes to life, pinning Mercutio in its beam.
“Alright boys, let’s go.” He quickly hops into the car and they speed off.
Outside the rear wing of the house, Kai creeps near the pool, taking cover when a bright light comes on.
“But wait, what light shines through that window?”
Almost in response, the balcony doors open and you step out still in your angel robe. You start to walk near the pool, unaware of Kai hiding in the shadows.
He whispers, “Y/n is the sun, rising in the East and killing the jealous moon. She is far more beautiful than any others.”
You sit on the pool ledge, legs dangling in the still water.
“It is her! My love!”
You sigh. Looking longingly to the stars you ask, “Oh Malachai, my Kai. Where are you? Deny your father and rebuke your name, or if you will not, my love, I swear I will no longer be a Cadell.”
Kai whispers, “Should I say something or remain silent?”
Starting to pace you continue, “It’s only your last name that is my enemy, but you, yourself are not a Parker. But what is a Parker? It is not a body part of a man. Why can’t you have some other name! What is a name? A rose by any other name would smell as sweet. So if Kai, if not called called Kai Parker, would be just as perfect. Kai, lose your name. Trade in your name, which has nothing to do with you, and take all of me in exchange.”
“I will take all of you in exchange at your word!” Kai steps out of the shadows and calls wildly. “Proclaim your love for me, and you can call me whatever you want!”
You scream and topple backwards, Kai tries to balance you out by grabbing your hand but is instead plunged into the pool with you. A security guard moves toward the pool area and you wave him away. assuring that everything is fine.
“Kai, why did you hide in the darkness and listen to my private thoughts?”
He puts his hands up in a calming gesture. “My own name is so hateful to me, if it were written on a piece of paper I would rip it up.”
“I have not heard you speak over a hundred words, but I recognize your voice and have memorized it’s sound. Should I not call you Malachai? And a Parker?”
“Neither my love, if you don’t like the names.”
“How did you get over the walls? If any men of my coven find you here, they will kill you.”
“The darkness of night will hide me, besides let them kill me. I would rather due than live without your love.” Kai leans forward, you kiss long and greedily until you push Kai away.
“I’m glad it’s night so you can’t see how embarrassed I am that you over heard me gushing about you. Part of me feels I should pretend I am not interested, as that is how proper ladies would act. But it is too late for that, do you love me?”
Kai starts to speak but you silence him and continue. “I know you will say yes and I believe you. Swear to me so you can’t be proven false my sweet Kai. Say it faithfully. If you think I’m too quickly won over then I will frown and see you no more, no matter what ends of the earth you may go to win me back. Honestly... I favor you too much, you may not believe me but I’ll prove myself to be more true and loyal than any other woman.”
“My love, y/n, I swear by the moon, that lights the night so beautifully.’
“No, don’t swear by the moon for it constantly changes.”
“What should I swear by?”
“Do not swear at all. But if you dare to, swear by yourself. You are my idol and I will believe you.” You touch his cheek with your palm and Kai moves his lips close to yours.
“If my hearts dear love-”
Confused, you break away. “Do not swear then. I take joy in you, but not in a rash, sudden contract. We need to slow down, we don’t have to rush into anything. We should take our time and see where this love goes.”
Another light turns on and the nanny begins to call. “Y/N!” You rush up the pool stairs.
“Will you leave me so unsatisfied?” Kai tries to keep up.
You scoff and give a shocked expression, “What more satisfaction do you want tonight?”
“I would be satisfied if you promised me your love so we could exchange vows and be married.”
You run joyously into Kai’s arms. “I will gladly exchange vows with you and promise my love!” You kiss fiercely and passionately before being interrupted by the nanny’s yell again.
“Y/N!!”
“Good night dear Kai. If you really intend to marry me, send word tomorrow. I will come to you, tell me what time and place. I will leave all my fortunes behind and follow you all over the world.”
“Y/N!”
“I’m coming!” You holler. “A thousand times goodnight.” You kiss again and finally run inside. You reappear at the top of the balcony. “Kai! What time should I come to you tomorrow?”
“By 9 o’clock!”
“I will be there! Good night sweet Kai until tomorrow. Parting is such sweet sorrow.”
“Sleep well my lovely y/n.” Kai blows kisses to you and heads back toward the wall to take his leave.
* * * * * * Morning time in a greenery * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
A priest is giving an herbology lesson to some young boys.
“Plants, herbs and stones are a beautiful thing.” He makes a small cut in the bulb of a purple flower. “In this flower, lies a poison while also having the power of a medicine.” He carefully puts the sap in a beaker. “It smells lovely, but if tasted, can stop the heart. Our lesson is done.”
Turning to put the beaker away in the fridge, he pulls out a jar of candy. Looking at them sternly, the boys take their candy and scram. The Father starts to watch the TV but his thoughts are interrupted by Kai knocking on the door frame.
“Good morning Father.”
“Good morning! Why do you come so early in the morning to see me?” The priest studies Kai for a minute. “It is very early for you to be getting out of bed, and if I guess right it means that you never went to bed last night!”
Kai follows the priest as he starts to walk through the empty church. “It’s true, I never slept because I was enjoying the sweet night.”
“God have mercy on you! Were you with Rosaline?”
“With Rosaline? Father no. That name is out of my mind and long forgotten.”
The priest starts to lay out preparations for communion. “Good my son, so where have you been?”
Out of old habit, Kai starts to help him. “I was feasting at my enemies house. So suddenly I was wounded by love and now both of ours only cure can come from you. I gave no hatred, and your power will benefit my enemy.”
“Speak clearly. Tell me what you mean. I do not know how to help you if you speak in riddles.”
“I am in love with the leader Cadell’s daughter. I love her and she loves me. We’ve promised our love to each other but we need you to make it official. I’ll tell you more later about where and when we met, how we fell in love. But I’m begging you to marry us today.”
The priest stands there a moment, thunderstruck. Two of the young boys enter in robes and he dismisses them. They get the message and bolt. He turns back to Kai, still stunned.
“Holy Saint Francis! This is such a sudden change. Have you given up on Rosaline so quickly? The one you claimed you loved? Young men love with their eyes and not their hearts. How many tears did you waste crying over Rosaline? I can still freshly remember you crying to me about your heart’s woe. You’ve changed so suddenly.”
“You’ve always scolded me for loving Rosaline.”
“I did not scold you for loving her, but for obsessing over her.”
“Don’t scold me over y/n now, we truly love each other. Rosaline did not love me.”
“Rosaline knew you loved her but didn’t really know what it meant.” The priest sits down in a chair and looks off into the distance where the childrens choir are assembling. The priest is moved by the childrens singing and he turns back to a waiting Kai.
“Come with me, I will help you with your secret wedding. If we’re lucky it may turn the hatred between your covens into love.”
“Then let’s go, I’m in a rush.”
The Father stands and looks down on Kai, “We need to be smart about this and take it slowly. We don’t want any slip-ups.”
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * At the beach * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
Benvolio and Mercutio are arguing.
Mercutio snaps, “What do yo umean Kai didn’t come home last night?”
“I spoke to my uncle’s maid, she said Kai never came home.”
“He’s so obsessed with Rosaline, he’s gone insane.” Benvolio paces the sidewalk, “Tybalt sent a message to Kai’s father’s house.”
Mercutio interrupts, “I bet it’s a challenge.”
Benvolio stops pacing. “Do you think Kai will take up the challenge?”
“Anyone can write a letter demanding a challenge. But it takes a true witch to demand a fight with a siphoner like Malachai.”
“Kai is daring enough to challenge Tybalt.”
Kai’s car pulls up beside the lake’s parking lot. Benvolio heads toward him.
“Here comes Kai! Here comes Kai!”
Mercutio saunters up the beach with mock chalance. “Bonjour Kai,” he speaks with an accent, “You gave us quite the slip last night, no?”
“Good morning to you too. What slip did I give you?” Kai feigns innocence.
“WHAT SLIP? You gave us the slip last night, are you mad?”
Kai grins smugly. “Oh my apologies, Mercutio. I had a great time, thanks for asking. It was very important business, I didn’t have time to say a proper goodbye.”
“Oh I’m sure you were kept quite busy last night.” He jokes and Benvolio hoots, jumping on Kai’s back.
“Oh shut up.” Kai shoves him off into the sand. “I’ll fight you.”
Mercutio flicks sand at him and starts to run down the beach. Kai laughs and starts to chase. Kai gains on Mercutio and dives into the sea, following him.
“See, isn’t this better than groaning over love?” Mercutio splashes and Kai tries to dunk him underwater. “You’re much happier now!” He walks onto the beach, “Come on Kai.”
Kai tackles him onto the wet sand and Mercutio suddenly becomes serious. “How happy you are now, is who you naturally are.”
A shadow falls over the boys and there stands the nanny in a bright red ‘disguise’.
“God, you are a beautiful woman.” Mercutio remarks, bemused at the sight.
The nanny ignores him and speaks to Kai, “I need to speak privately with you.”
Kai gets up and starts to follow the woman up to a black car waiting in the parking lot. Mercutio looks questioningly to Benvolio who shrugs. “Maybe he’s going for dinner?” Mercutio yells at Kai, “Come home for dinner!.”
Before stepping into the car he yells back, “I will be there soon!”
“Goodbye old dragon lady!” He jests, blowing her a kiss.
* * * * * * * * * * * * In the car * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
The nanny leaned in uncomfortably close to Kai and whispered harshly, “If you lead y/n on, treat her poorly or break her heart like a delicate tea cup then you will suffer an ill fate.”
She leans back to her seat and there is a silence. Kai chooses his next words carefully. “Ask y/n to come to confession today. The Father will hear her out, absolve her sins and we will be married.”
* * * * * * * * * * The Cadell mansion * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
You are waiting excitedly in your room, looking for the nanny’s arrival. The black car pulls into the driveway and out steps the nanny.
“Here she comes!”
You bolt from from your room to meet the nanny at the staircase going to the rear of the house. You burst into the kitchen following her where she proceeds to start looking in the fridge.
“What did he say?” You ask again impatiently, “Nanny! What did he say!”
Stepping away from the fridge the nanny sets food down on the counter. “Let me rest a minute, I am tired and hungry.”
You continue to plead, walking to her. “Please tell me! Is it good news or bad?”
“My God, why such a hurry? Can’t you stay here and talk for a while? I am out of breath.”
You cannot stand the suspense anymore. “How are you out of breath? Tell me! Is it good news or bad? Just tell me that much!”
The nanny sits and take a big bite of her sandwich, talking between chews. “You’ve made a simple choice of a man. You don’t know how to pick one. He is a very handsome and attractive young man but he doesn’t have the best manners and composure. However, he has a gentle spirit and nature. Have you had something to eat yet?”
“I already know those things about him, tell me more! What does he say about our marriage?”
“Oh dear, I feel a headache coming on, and my back aches...”
This is a game you know well. You climb onto the back of the recliner, setting down so you can massage her,
“Ooooo yes! Get right there!”
You then coo sweetly, “Oh sweet nanny, what does my love say?”
“He is an honest man, kind, handsome and virtuous. Where is your mother?”
You crack. “Where is my mother? That’s your reply?! My love says like an honest gentleman, ‘Where is your mother?!’”
The nanny pouts, “Calm yourself y/n!”
You explode in frustration. “How can you tell me to be calm? WHAT DID KAI SAY?”
The nanny goes quiet for a moment. “Do you have time to go to confession today?”
“I do.”
“Then go to the priest, Kai awaits there to be a husband and make you his wife!”
With a scream of joy, you hug the nanny.
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * At the church * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
The priest shakes his head. “Such extreme emotions about this kind of pleasure often ends in disaster. Even the taste of too much honey can become sickly because it is so sweet.” He looks to Kai. “So love carefully and long may your love live.”
You push through the oaken double doors to the church. The priest cues up the choir and beckons for you to come to the altar.
“Good afternoon Father.”
Before the priest can reply, you and Kai kiss passionately. He wait just a moment then delicately interrupts you.
“Come, come and we will make this quick. Because, if you don’t mind, I’m not leaving you two alone until you’re married.”
You and Kai exchange vows and rings. The priest follows the two of you out, throwing hand fulls of rice. Your driver takes a perfect picture as the bride and groom kiss. He holds the car door open and you reluctantly get in. As the car drives away, Kai runs along side it until he watches the big car speed away.
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * At the beach * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
Mercutio stands knee deep in the water fishing. Benvolio shelters himself from the heat under a life guard tower.
“Come on Mercutio, let’s go. It’s too hot!”
Mercutio ignores him and continues fishing with his gun. Benvolio looks around nervously hoping they don’t draw the attention of the Cadells.
“The Cadells are out, and if they see us, we won’t get away without a fight.”
“You are like one of those men who enter a bar and put their gun down on the table saying, ‘I pray I never have to use you’ but by the time he orders his second drink, he pulls the gun on the bartender for no reason at all.”
Benvolio doesn’t find him funny and turns away when a black Sedan rolling up stops him cold. “Oh great, here come the Cadells.”
“Well, well, I don’t care,” Mercutio drawls.
The car slides to a stop only feet away from where Benvolio stands. Tybalt, Abra and another Cadell emerge from the vehicle and step toward the Parkers menacingly.
“Good day gentleman, can I have a word with one of you.”
The rest of the Parker boys stand nervously at Tybalt’s words. Mercutio responds wittily, “You want just one word with one of us? Put it together with something else. Make it a word and a blow.”
“You’ll find me ready enough to do that sir, if you give me a reason.”
Tybalt’s hand moves to rest on his gun handle. Mercutio stops jesting upon spotting the firearm.
Breathily he asks, “Could you not find a reason without me giving you one?”
The Parker boys start to snicker again and Tybalt snaps. “Mercutio you hang out with Malachai.”
Mercutio’s anger grows. “Hang out? What do you think we are, a bunch of musicians? If I am a musician, then this is my fiddlestick,” he motions to his gun, “And I’ll use it to make you dance.”
Benvolio tries to mediate, “We’re talking in a public place. Either go someplace private, or it talk it over rationally or just go away. Out here everyone can see us.”
Mercutio retorts, “People’s eyes were made to see things, so let them watch. I’m not moving to please anybody.”
Just then, Kai arrives in his car, heart full of happy news.
Tybalt walks away from Mercutio, “Nevermind you. Here is the man I am looking for.” He calls out to the approaching Kai, “Malachai, there’s only one thing I can call you. You are a villain!” Pulling his jacket aside, Tybalt reveals his gun to Kai.
“Tybalt, I have a reason to love you, let me put aside the hatred and forgive your remark. I am not a villain. So good bye. Clearly you do not know who I am.”
Kai turns and walks back to his car, surprising everybody. Tybalt is confused and outraged, hurling himself back into his Sedan. He kicks the car in a U-turn, slamming into Kai’s car. Kai locks the car as Tybalt gets out to beat down on it. He smashes the passenger window and hauls Kai out.
“Boy, your words can’t excuse the harm you’ve done to me!” Tybalt punches Kai across the face, sending him sprawling to the ground. “Turn and draw your gun!” He yells.
Kai shakily lifts himself from the ground, feeling his busted lip. Speaking through his bloody teeth, Kai answers. “I never hurt you. And so, good Cadell - which name I care for more than you can understand,” Kai cautiously pulls out his gun, “be satisfied.” He throws the gun to Tybalt’s feet.
The Parker boys can’t believe their eyes as Kai starts to walk down the beach. An angered Mercutio steps forward.
“This calm submission in dishonorable and vile!”
Tybalt grows angrier, handing Abra his weapon and sprinting down the beach after Kai. In a bone cracking collision, Tybalt tackles him to the ground near an abandoned life guard house. The boys run to catch up while Kai still refuses to fight and runs up the stairs. Tybalt trips him and he careens into the old wooden railing, smashing it to pieces. Tybalt kicks savagely at him, willing him to fight back. Mercutio runs after him, picking up a piece of wood from the broken railing and hitting him across the head making him fall down.
“Tybalt, you ratcatcher!” Will you go and fight me?”
“What do you want from me?” Tybalt swings a lump of wood and Mercutio dodges.
“Why, King of Cats, I want to take one of your nine lives. I’ll take one and depending how you treat me after that, I might beat the other eight out of you too.”
Tybalt swings his wood again and Mercutio blocks, throwing the stick away. Tybalt, now empty handed, charges and slams him against a window shattering the glass. Mercutio is back on his feet lightning fast. He raises a rock, ready to smash in his head when Kai rushes between them.
“Stop this fight Mercutio!”
Seizing his opportunity, Tybalt lunges up and aims to slash Kai with a piece of broken glass. Instead, he misses and slashes Mercutio across the stomach. He screams out in pain, grabbing his side. Everyone goes quiet. Abra tugs at a stunned Tybalt.
“Let’s go Tybalt!”
The pair bolts for their car and Benvolio goes to Mercutio.
“Are you hurt?”
Mercutio covers his wound and laughs, “Yes but it is just a scratch.”
Kai helps him get down the stairs. “Have courage, the cut can’t be that bad.”
“It’s not as deep as a well or as wide as a door, but it’s enough to do the job.” Mercutio jokes, “If you ask for me tomorrow, you’ll find me a very grave man. Goddammit! I can’t believe that rat could scratch me to death!” He says through crazed laughter.
He now turns his attention from the cheering boys to Kai who is struggling to support his weight.
“Why the hell did you come between us? He struck me under your arm.”
“I thought it was the right thing to do.” Kai starts to panic.
Mercutio pushes himself away screaming, “May a plague fall upon both your covens! They’ve turned me into food for the worms. I’m done for. Curse your families!”
He collapses to the ground and Kai kneels, cradling his best friends dead body. Thunder booms and it starts to sprinkle, turning into a heavy rain.
Benvolio whispers, “Mercutio is dead.”
Kai cries out, “Oh sweet y/n! Your beauty has made me weak, you have softened my bravery when before I was hard as steel.”
The sound of Tybalt’s car peeling off brings back cold reality. Kai’s sadness turns to uncontrollable rage. He runs to his car, in an effort to head him off. The rain is now blinding but Kai stops for nothing. Pedestrians scream and cars screech to a stop. He rounds a corner and slams into Tybalt’s car, veering out of control. Tybalt scrambles from his car and Kai runs toward him. Tybalt draws his gun but Kai continues to march on.
“Go on! Kill me so I can join him!”
Tybalt nervously starts to walk backward.
“Either kill me or I will kill you!”
He shakes his head in panic, Kai flicks his wrist sending Tybalt’s gun into the air.
“Why did you come between us?”
Kai remains silent. Police cars screech to a halt, surrounding the area. The gun lands back in Kai’s hand and he fires three shots.
“Put down the weapon!” A police officer calls through a megaphone.
Tybalt’s body collapses to the road. A cop fires, grazing Kai’s arm and he screams.
“Oh! I have awful luck!”
A strong gust of wind and rain blinds the police. Balthasar drives up and starts screaming.
“Don’t just stand there! Come on!”
Kai quickly slides into the passenger seat, holding his wounded arm and crying.
Lady Cadell pulls up to the scene and runs to crouch over the body. “Tybalt! Oh my sweet nephew. My family’s blood is spilled on the streets.”
The Captain parts through the police line. “Where are the men who started the fight?”
A hand cuffed Benvolio is pushed forward. “Captain, I can tell you everything about the fight. Tybalt killed your relative Mercutio and then young Kai killed him.”
Lady Cadell begins to scream again. “Tybalt was my nephew! Oh my nephew is dead! Captain, you are honorable, take revenge by killing someone from the Parker family.”
The Captain ignores her and turns to Benvolio. “Benvolio, who started this fight?”
“Tybalt started the fight before he was killed by Kai. Kai spoke to him reasonably and didn’t want to start a fight but rather make a truce. Tybalt refused and was deaf to peace!”
Lady Cadell interjects savagely, “He’s lying! I want justice, Kai killed Tybalt so Kai must be killed!”
The Captain, losing his patience turns to the woman. “Kai killed him after Tybalt killed Mercutio.”
Malachai’s father, Sir Parker l arrives and begins to plead with the Captain as well. “Please Captain, don’t make Malachai pay the price. He was Mercutio’s friend. His death has been avenged by Tybalt’s. It is even.”
The Captain eyes him coldly. “And for the crime of murder, Malachai is exiled from Mystic Falls. You have involved me in your rivalry. My nephew Mercutio is dead because of your bloody feud.”
“But Captain-” Parker starts to plead.
The Captain silences him, “I will not listen to your excuses and your begging will not change my mind.” He turns to address his officers. “Tell Malachai to leave the city immediately or else if he is found he will be killed.”
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Your bedroom* * * * * * * * * * * *
“I wish the sun would hurry up and set already so night can come immediately. Because when the night comes and everyone goes to sleep, then my Kai will come to me, leap into my arms and no one will know. Gentle night, give me my Kai and when I die, turn him into the stars and make a constellation in his image. His face will make the heavens so beautiful that the whole world will fall in love with him. I belong to Kai now, this day has been so long, waiting for him.”
A car pulls up into the driveway and you rush down excited to meet the nanny. Your knees buckle and you fall to the ground at her news.
“Oh god! Did Kai kill Tybalt?”
“He did, he did! This is a most cursed day!”
“He’s like a snake disguised as a flower. Was there ever such an evil book with such a beautiful cover? I can’t believe such evil lurked inside someone so beautiful!”
“There is no trust, faith or honesty in men. All of them lie, cheat and are wicked. Shame on Malachai!”
“How dare you wish shame upon him! He was not born to be shameful. He deserves only honor, I was an idiot to be angry at him.”
“How can you say such good things about the man who killed your cousin?”
“Am I supposed to speak badly about my own husband? Oh my husband! How could I speak bad of him when we’ve only been married 3 hours? Kai why did you kill my cousin? Probably because my cousin would have killed my husband. It is comforting to know my husband is alive, but I am crying still because he has been banished. This is worst than the murder of 10,000 Tybalts. No words can express my pain. Nanny, where are my father and mother?”
The nanny gets down to comfort you. “They are mourning the death of Tybalt. Go to your room, I’ll send Kai to comfort you. I know where he is.”
You look up through tears. “Please hurry and find him. Tell him to come and say his final good bye.”
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * At the church * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
The priest leads the nanny into a bedroom. Kai lays on the bed, shirtless and bandaged.
“Nanny!”
The woman rushed to his side.
“Tell me about y/n. Where is she? Is she okay? What does my hidden wife say about our ruined love?”
“She doesn’t say anything. She just cries and cries. She falls down but when she tries to get up, she just calls your name and collapses again in tears.”
Kai has started to cry uncontrollably, “She calls out my name as if I were a bullet murdering her, just like her cousin.”
The priest shakes Kai, “I thought you were smarter and more rational than this! Your y/n is alive, you should be happy. Tybalt wanted to kill you, but you killed him. Be happy that you’re alive. You have been banished, not sentenced to death. Be happy about that. Your life is full of blessings.”
Kai has calmed down and the priest helps him get changed into a new white shirt.
“Go. Go to your wife and comfort her. Get out of here before daybreak. Good night.”
The priest ushers Kai out of the church and gives him one last handshake good bye. Kai and the nanny sprint towards the car.
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * At the mansion* * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
Dave stands by your father holding flowers awkwardly. Your mother comes down the staircase solemnly.
“She refuses to come out of her room.”
Dave replies calmly, “It’s understandable. These times of pain are bad for romance. Good night ma’am, give your daughter my regards.”
“I will. And I’ll find out what she thinks about marriage tomorrow morning but tonight she is shut up with sadness.” The three leave down the hallway.
* * * * * * * * * * In your room* * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
You are softly crying into your pillow when you feel a hand gently touch your face. Your eyes dart up to see Kai standing above you. There’s a still moment of disbelief. Leaning down, Kai kisses away the tears that fall from your wide y/e/c eyes. Your lips find his and he gently sinks back into the bed with you.
* * * * * * * * * * Back in the living room* * * * * * * * * *
Your father sits reclined in an armchair. Dave and your mother sit opposite him. He whips himself in a drunken frenzy of excited thoughts.
“My sir, I’ll make a desperate argument for my daughter’s love. I think she’ll do whatever I say- no - I think she’ll do that and more. I have no doubt about it. Wait- what day is today?”
Dave answers, “Monday, sir.”
“I will talk to her tomorrow about marrying you on Thursday. Does that sound good to you?”
Dave tries to catch up, stunned at the suddenness. Your father eyes him.
“Sir- I wish Thursday was tomorrow. It sounds wonderful.”
Your father raises his glass to toast and they stand. “Well go home. Thursday it is then.” He turns to your mother, “Go see y/n to prepare her. Tell her to get ready for her wedding on Thursday.”
* * * * * * * * * * * * * Your room* * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
Morning time comes, shining light upon yours and Kai’s bodies tangles together. You lie blissfully asleep. Balthasar’s car quietly pulls into a side road near the estate. Sitting up suddenly, Kai wakes up remembering where he is. Sitting on the side of the bed he starts to get dressed. You silently wake up and climb onto his back, kissing him gently on the neck.
“You’re leaving already? The day has just begun.”
Kai turns and softly strokes your cheek. “If I want to live I must leave now, if I stay then I will die.”
You sigh in resignation. “You’re right, you have to go. Now leave before it gets any lighter!”
You frantically help Kai get dressed. You both freeze when there is an urgent knock on the door.
“Y/n!”
“Nanny!”
“Your mother is coming to your room!”
You hurriedly usher Kai out to the balcony.
“Good bye my love, one last kiss and I will leave.”
You caress his face and whisper. “Do you think we will meet again?”
“I have no doubt.” Kai smiles up at you and heads down the wall.
You turn at your mother’s voice at the door. “Good morning y/n! Are you awake?” Your mother walks in right after you hastily flop back into bed. She crosses over to the window, opening the curtains to let light in.
“You have a caring father. He has arranged a day of joy to end your sadness. A day you did not expect and that I did not look for.”
You try to play along. “What day is that?”
Your mother takes a deep breath in. “You will be married to the handsome and charming governor’s son! You will go to the church and there become his wife.”
You are too stunned, “By Saint Peter he will not make me his wife!”
A look of fear crosses your mother’s face. “Here comes your father, tell him that yourself.”
Cadell with a whiskey glass in hand, barges calmly into your room. “Have you told her what we have decided?”
“Yes, but she refuses to and says thank you. I wish the foolish girl was dead and married to her grave.”
Your father becomes dangerously calm. “How could she refuse? She should be grateful and proud of the match we’ve made. She’s not worthy of the gentleman.”
“I am not proud of what you have decided for me. I am thankful that you tried. I can’t be proud of something I hate, but I can be thankful it was done out of love.”
He thinks for a moment, then throws his glass across the room, shattering it against the wall. “You are a spoiled little girl and not really showing me any pride or thanks. You are going to get married to the governor’s son on Thursday. I will drag you there if I have to.”
You try to move into the hallway but he grabs your shoulders, shaking you.
“Please listen to me...” you beg.
“NO! You will not speak back to me.”
Your father throws you to the ground and you sob. His hand slaps you across the face.
“Are you insane?!” Your mother retorts and he responds by backhanding her face.
“You disgust me y/n. My worthless daughter!”
The nanny gets between you and your father. “God bless her! You are wrong to berate her like that!”
Your father now furious, shoves the nanny aside and grabs your face up. “I’ll tell you what- you WILL get married at that church on Thursday or you will never show your face to me again. I will disown you and you can die on the streets, I swear to god!” He storms away down the stairs while you lay huddled on the floor.
“Mother, please don’t disown me! Delay this marriage as long as you can or I will kill myself!”
She looks at her lip in the mirror and speaks softly. “Don’t talk to me because I will not say a word. Do whatever you want, I don’t care anymore.” Your mother turns and leaves.
You beg your nanny, “Please nanny! Tell me how I can stop this!”
The nanny doesn’t respond and sits in a heavy silence, moving towards you.
“Please give me words of comfort!”
“Listen to me, I think it would be a good idea for you to marry this man. Malachai has been banished and can’t return unless he is undercover. I think you could be happy with the governor’s son, you are no use to Kai anyway.”
You stay still. “Do you honestly mean this?”
“I do.”
You decide to play along, despite the pain of faking. “You’ve comforted me a lot nanny. Tell me mother I am going to the priest to confess and be forgiven for angering my father.”
“Alright, I will. That’s a good idea.”
* * * * * * * * * * At the church* * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
The priest stands at the front of the church with Dave talking about what will happen on Thursday.
“Her father wants us to rush and be married very soon.”
Just then you walk into the church, not expecting to see them there.
“Look! There is the woman who is my wife!”
“That might be the case sir, after I’m married.” You respond icily, one hand hidden resting on a pistol.
“That ‘might be’ will be on Thursday.”
“What must be will be.” You walk down the isle coolly.
The priest states, “That is a certain truth.”
“Did you come here to confess?” Dave inquires.
“If I answered that question, I’d be confessing to you, Dave.”
You and the Father turn to leave and Dave starts to excuse himself. “Y/n, I will marry you early on Thursday morning. Until then, good bye.”
You give him a stone cold glare as he leans forward and kisses your cheek.
“Keep this kiss, and goodbye for now..”
As soon as Dave left, you stormed into the backroom, the priest following your lead. “Y/n, I already know about your sad situation.”
“Tell me how I can prevent it, Father.”
“I’ve heard you must marry a man on Thursday and that nothing can delay it.”
“If you’re so smart but can’t help me, then you will call my solution smart and I’ll solve it by myself.”
You pull the gun out and point it at your head. Horrified, the priest moves to stop you but you panic and point the gun at him.
“Hold on, y/n!” He holds out a soothing hand. “I have an idea. But we must act boldly because the situation is so desperate. If you’re so desperate you would kill yourself instead of marrying Dave, then you must be desperate enough to try something similar to death to solve this problem. Come with me to the greenhouse.
You obey, eager and desperate to try anything on the face of the earth to be with your love.
The priest holds up a little vial with a blue liquid in it. “When you are in bed, drink this. The sleep inducing drug will run through your veins and stop your pulse. Your body will turn cold, you’ll stop breathing and you become so pale, your family and Dave will think you are dead. You will stay like this for 42 hours and then you’ll wake up like you’ve only been sleeping. They will take you to the family vault. I will tell Kai about the plan and he will come to you and take you far away.” The priest cautiously hands you the vial.
* * * * * * * * * * * * Later that night* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
At a trailer park out of town a mail truck pulls up to a bland looking trailer. The mail man knocks loudly at the door with the letters from the priest. Kai is too busy with his headphones to hear the knocking. The mail man shrugs and slips a ‘WE CALLED’ note under the door.
* * * * * * * * * * * * The Cadell mansion* * * * * * * * * * * *
It is the night before the wedding and you stand in front of a mirror. Two od the maids hold up your wedding dress, fussing over which shoes match the best. Disinterested you point to a pair and satisfied, the maids leave.
“Nanny will you please leave me alone tonight?”
“Why?” The nanny asks as you guide her to the door.
“I have to say a lot of prayers so the heavens will bless me. You know I am troubled and full of sin.”
The nanny leaves, shutting the door. Confident that you are alone, you rush to the bedside table and pull out the glass vial.
You whisper, “What if this mixture doesn’t work? Will I be forced to marry Dave?”
You cautiously begin to unscrew the tiny black lid. Suddenly there is a knock on the door. You palm the vial and turn to see your mother walk in.
“Do you need my help?”
“No, we’ve already figured out what I’m wearing tomorrow. So if it’s okay with you, I’d like to be alone now.”
You slip into bed and your mother sensing your unease nods. “Good night then.”
“Good night!” Your words surprise her and she smiles, closing the door. “There’s a slight cold fear running through me. I have to go through with this.”
You bring the vial to your lips and toss your head back. You have a sudden violent convulsion and then collapse backward, face painted with fear.
It is morning time, the sun light shines down on an ambulance and police cars in front of the house.
One of the medics speaks over the radio. “Drugs?”
The second medic responds, “Yes, a deadly amount. She overdosed.”
The family numbly enter the house again, wedding decorations mocking their pain. The priest enters your bedroom, kneeling by your side and quickly checks your pupils. He pockets the vial and looks toward the undertaker.
“She is ready to go to the church.”
The man dressed in black nods. “We will take her to the Cadell vault.”
Balthasar, hearing the news of your death, rushes away to tell Kai.
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * At the trailer park* * * * * * * * * * * *
Kai is sitting at his table, writing in his notebook, still not paying attention to the ‘WE CALLED’ card. Balthasar’s car speeds to a stop in front of the trailer and an excited Kai rushes out.
“What is it Balthasar?”
Balthasar is too stunned to speak.
“Did you bring me the letters from the priest? How is y/n?”
Balthasar does not know how to word what he has come to tell Kai, and looks away. “She’s not well, she lies dead in the Cadell vault.”
For a long moment, Kai is still and when he speaks, his voice is chillingly calm. “Is it really true?”
Balthasar nods. Kai turns and stares out into the distant wasteland.
“Then I hate the stars!” he moves to the car. “I have to see her tonight.”
Balthasar tries to hold him back, “Just wait-”
“Leave me alone!” Kai roars, pushing him against the car.
“You look pale and wild as if you’re going to hurt yourself.”
“Well, you’re wrong. Leave me alone. Do you have a letter from the priest?”
“No I don’t.”
Kai shakes his head and smiles, “Nevermind. I’ll go see her tonight.” Kai hops into the passenger seat and Balthasar reluctantly gets behind the wheel. The car roars out of the park and Kai silently whispers, “I am coming to be with you tonight, y/n.”
* * * * * * * * * * * * At the church* * * * * * * * * * * *
The priest speaks into a phone, concerned. “Did Malachai get my letter?”
The mailman responds, “No. He didn’t answer the door.”
The priest hangs up the phone and looks at the time. “I need to get to the vault, y/n will be waking up withing an hour.”
* * * * * * * * * * * * At the cemetary* * * * * * * * * * * *
Balthasar’s car pulls into the cemetary’s driveway and Kai hops out.
“Give me your flashlight.” Opening the trunk he pulls out a crowbar.
“Kai just listen to me.”
Kai turns around a punches him hard causing him to fall down, blood spilling from his nose. “Go and stay away from me or I will tear you apart!”
Balthasar rises slowly, both boys are trying not to cry.
“My plan is wild and savage, more fierce than a starving tiger.”
“I will go and leave you alone.”
Kai smiles and the boys hug. “Go live and be happy, good bye my friend.”
They part ways and Kai goes to the mausoleum, starting to pry the door open.
“You horrible mouth of death. You’ve taken the most precious girl on earth away from me. I will tear your jaw open.”
Kai grunts and with a final heave, the door scrapes open. All is silent inside, flickering candle light the hallway.
“Despite my hatred for you beast, I’ve come to give you another body.”
Roaming the hallway he finds your coffin, collapsing to his knees he cries out. “Oh! How often are men happy before they die!”
* * * * * * * * * * * * Outside the mausoleum* * * * * * * * * * * *
The priest thumps the steering wheel in frustration as he slowly pulls into the graveyard. “I am afraid something terrible is going to happen.” The priest shakes his head in horror seeing the vault’s door broken open.
* * * * * * * * * * * * Inside the mausoleum* * * * * * * * * * * *
Kai pushes aside the lid and kneels by your figure. Moonlight streams in, lighting your beautiful face as you sleep.
“Oh my beautiful wife! Death has sucked the life out of you but it did not take away your beauty.” Unconscious tears fall from his eyes as he continues, “Ah y/n, why are you so beautiful? Should I believe death has fallen in love with you and he keeps you away from me? I hate that death, so I will stay with you and never leave this vault! Let me kiss you one last time!”
Kai kisses your lips one last time. Your hand twitches but he doesn’t notice. He pulls out a vial of poison he stole and drinks it quickly. He convulses and falls, his head resting on your body. Kai fights for breath and you wake up, becoming aware of Kai.
“Kai? Is that you?” You sit up and cradle his head in your lap.
His clear wide eyes stare back up at you but he is unable to move, save for his weak breaths. You find the vial in his hand and start to cry.
“He drank it all and left none for me. I will kiss his lips, maybe there is some poison still on them to make me die with him.” You delicately kiss Kai on the lips. In a broken hearted whisper, “his lips are still warm.”
Desperately you both cling to each other. With all his might, Kai whispers, “Thus, with a kiss I will die.”
His breathing stops, there is only silence from him as you sob, hugging his lifeless form.
“Malachai, oh my sweet Kai.” You look to the gun in his jacket.
* * * * * * * * * * * * Outside* * * * * * * * * * * *
The priest hurries to the entrance of the vault when a gunshot rings out.
“God have mercy! Y/n? Malachai?”
His breath escapes him, coming upon the tragic scene. There, under the statue of Saint Peter, lie Kai and y/n. United again in death.
THE END!

“Open mine next!” Mina squeals, shoving a very pink wrapped box into your hands. You smile at your eccentric friend and shake your head at her antics.
“Calm down, it’s not a competition.” You joke, beginning to unwrap the gift now in your lap.
“You joke but it dead set is. Whoever gets you the best present is the superior friend. And as your best friend ever, I am determined to win.” Her grin is borderline concerning but you can’t help but laugh as you look over the rest of your close friends crowded inside your dorm room.
Kirishima, Sero, Kaminari, and even Bakugou showed up in your dorm before you had even woken up this morning, showering you with presents and complete with a cupcake with one of those annoying fake candles that wouldn’t go out. Apparently, it was a birthday tradition that they had just started this year… on your birthday. You aren’t complaining though, so far, you had a new pair of sunglasses thanks to Sero, a box filled to the brim with your favourite candy and protein bars because Kirishima couldn’t help but put something somewhat healthy in to ‘balance it out’. Bakugou had taken part too and had gifted you a scarf that was by far the nicest thing you now owned.
Mina is staring at you before gesturing with her hands for you to hurry up, her excitement practically making her almost bounce off the walls.
“Okay, okay, I’m hurrying!” You laugh before pulling the fluorescent pink paper off the box and carefully flicking open the lid. “Mina…” you turn to your friend and can’t hide the grin off your face as you pull the new skins for your Nintendo switch from the tissue paper. “I’ve been saving for these!”
“I know, but I thought I would get them for you first.” She says, winking at you. Wrapping her arm over your shoulder, she gives you a tight squeeze. “Happy birthday sweetie!”
Turning back to the boys sprawled across your dorm room, she smirks at them. “So did I win or did I win?” She teases.
“Who fucking cares who wins or not,” Bakugou growls from his perch, leaning against your door as if ready to make a quick escape.
“Oh please, you’re just pouty because you lost,” Mina fires back, using her hand to gesture an L sign with her fingers at him, but Bakugou surprisingly says nothing in response. It had been one of your requests for your birthday, no fighting. And although you had only been awake for like ten minutes, they were agreeing to your terms for now. But you wouldn’t be surprised if that didn’t last long.
“You’re about to lose pinky,” A voice suddenly says, and Kaminari gets up off the floor and stands in front of you. With a gentle smile and pure mischief in his eyes, your heart flutters inside your chest.
“Happy birthday y/n.” He smirks, holding a plain envelope out to you. Your eyes lock onto him before staying focused on the paper in his hands.
If Mina was your best friend, Denki is your second half. You had become attached at the hip in your first year of school at UA, and years later, you were still just as close, something that hadn’t changed. Well, one thing had changed... That feeling you felt for so long and pushed off as admiration for your best friend, you had realised was much more than that.
You had been in love with Denki Kaminari for almost a year and hadn’t told him, purely because you were too scared that he didn’t feel the same and it would ruin one of your most treasured friendships. There were times, that you thought he might feel the same, but it was hard to tell. Kaminari is a flirty guy, so when he was like that with you, he was also like it to a lot of other girls. You thought you were conspicuous about your crush too, but apparently everyone knew just how you felt about your best friend. Even Kirishima, who could be one of the most oblivious people you had ever met at times, could tell. And somehow, Denki didn’t know?
To be honest, what you felt for Kaminari was almost exhausting sometimes. How your heart would race every time he came near you, how you would have to remind yourself to breath when he would throw his arm over your shoulder. You weren’t sure how long you could take him not knowing… But this feeling is better than rejection, you think.
“You’re not going to win this,” Mina grumbles at Kaminari, still situated next to you. The blonde in question only folds his arms across his chest, that smirk still stretched teasingly across his lips. You quickly make work of opening the envelope and the second you do, two small strips of paper fall onto your lap, making your breathing stop. Oh my god.
“What is it?” You hear Mina ask, peering over your shoulder to catch a glimpse, but you can’t seem to focus on that. You pick up the tickets, not quite believing what you’re seeing. You turn them over, looking at the printed text on them, and this time, you can’t hold back your scream of excitement, which earns a groan from the group.
“Holy shit Denki!” You scream, before diving off the bed and onto your best friend, who catches you around the middle, steadying you so you both don’t fall over.
“How did you get tickets? I thought they were all sold out?” Still clutching the tickets to your favourite band in your hand, you pull back from your embrace and look up at the electric blonde. The grin that covers his face you know matches yours, and the look somehow makes your smile grow even more. You’re sure you look like an idiot right now, but you’re too excited to care.
“They were, but I managed to win some from a radio station.” He shrugs like its nothing, but you know just how hard those tickets would have been to win, so you just squeal and hug him again. His arms wrap around your waist as you bury your head in his neck.
“Thank you, Kami.” You whisper before being interrupted by a loud groan from Mina. Looking over Kaminari’s shoulder, you see her pouting face and barely hold in your giggle.
“That’s so not fair! That’s like the trump card Kaminari!” She protests, but Denki just shrugs again and looks at them all as you pull out of his hug once more, even though your heart protests the action.
“I don’t know why you guys are surprised. Hello? The superior friend here since day uno.” He grins which only makes them roll their eyes.
“Whatever, are we done here?” Bakugou groans and you smile and turn to all of your friends. God, you’re so grateful that you have them in your life. Even your angry gremlin of a friend.
“Thank you guys for all of this. This has been the best birthday I’ve ever had.” You say, your words bringing soft smiles to their faces.
“Well, the days just starting Y/n!” Kirishima grins at you both.
“And I bet it's going to get a lot better.” Sero’s eyes cut to Kaminari as he speaks and you’re grateful that Denki can’t see the blush covering your cheeks at the words. Thank god for small mercies.
As they all make their way out of your room, Kaminari looks down at you, hesitating to leave. “The concert’s tonight, I got permission from Aizawa to go as well. So I’ll meet you downstairs at five.” Denki says, shooting you a wink before giving your hand a quick squeeze. He turns to walk out of your room, and you instinctively step forwards as if to follow him when he meets the door.
“Denki,” He stops at the door, looking back over his shoulder. Those golden eyes pierce your own and lock your feet to the floor, and suddenly, you can hear your heartbeat in your ears. How is he so attractive?
“Thank you,” you say quietly, unable to completely articulate just what you’re feeling. Something flashes through his eyes, but it is gone as quick as it arrived. The blonde instead just smirks, shooting you a wink that strikes your heart making it ache.
“Only the best for my best girl.” He replies before walking out the door. The nickname wasn’t something new, it had been his name for you for a long time now, and your heart still didn’t know how to play cool when you heard it.
Looking down at the tickets in your palms again, you can’t help but let out an excited squeal and flop back down onto your bed. You’re going to a concert, with Kaminari, to see your favourite band, with Denki! You pull your pillow over your face and squeal into it, not wanting to annoy your neighbours. This was by far the best start to a birthday you’ve experienced, and you just knew, tonight was going to be even better.
♫ ♫ ♫
This can’t be real.
The words have been on loop in your head since you walked into the arena with Kaminari. You are really here, even though you had at first missed out on buying tickets when they had originally gone on sale. You had thanked your best friend multiple times during the trip to the arena, but Kaminari had just simply shrugged, and squeezed your hand which he had been holding the whole time. ‘To make sure I don’t lose you,’ he had said when he entwined your fingers with his the second you had gotten out of the taxi. But you weren’t complaining.
You have also decided that going to concerts with Kaminari was one of the most fun things you have ever done. He is unafraid to jump around like an idiot with you and scream along to the music to the point that you were glad tomorrow was a weekend, as you doubted you both would be able to speak tomorrow. Kaminari has a way of making you feel so comfortable and confident in your own skin, and you love every second of it.
One thing, you don’t like, however, is the guy next to you that has spent the majority of the concert brushing up against your side with a smile that made you want to run in the opposite direction.
You had gotten Mina’s help when choosing what to wear tonight, wanting to look good for Denki (and yourself), but apparently, this guy liked the way you looked as well. Too much, for your liking. Again, you feel the man brush against your shoulder, and you surpass the point of being creeped out and reach pure S.O.S freak out mode. Instinctively, you step closer to Kaminari, hoping that the man will take the hint. The second you move towards Denki, he immediately pulls you in front of him, wrapping his arms around your shoulders, locking you against his chest. A smile pulls at your lips as you rest your head back against his shoulder, he was always so observant when it came to you. But still oblivious to your feelings. Your heart feels as if its a hummingbird inside your chest, fluttering skittishly far to fast to be comfortable.
“I’ve got you.” Kaminari’s breath meets your ear, his voice just loud enough for you to hear. Goosebumps break out across your skin, at his closeness, and you freeze, not wanting to break the moment. Also wishing to reply to him, but not wanting to shout, you instead reach up and squeeze one of his arms locked across your collarbones, in thanks. Leaning back and finally relaxing again, you can’t help but think that this is one of the greatest nights of your life. You’ve sung your heart out, danced like a maniac and spent the entire time with the guy you like, could it get any better?
As if hearing your thoughts, the band announces that its the last song, and Kaminari immediately lets go of you.
“Alrighty babes, get on my shoulders.” You are grinning as he slinks around you, kneeling to make it easier for you to climb up. Thank god you and Mina had decided on shorts because there was no way you would have done this in a skirt. Once your legs drape across his chest, Kaminari stands, making you squeal and thread your hands in his hair for something to grip. If he cares, he doesn’t mention it. He just holds the tops of your thighs firmly to keep you in place and looks back at the stage. Its a whole different energy being on someone’s shoulders at a concert, and you are living for it! You sing along with every word as they band play, trying not to move too much so Kaminari doesn’t drop you, but its the second that the confetti explodes from the ceiling, you find yourself laughing. Strips of rainbow metallic looking pieces of paper scatter through the crowd in a never ending shower and look up to the ceiling, closing your eyes.
This was perfect. Everything about it was so indescribably wonderful, this was one of the best days of your life.
Your attention turns back to the man below you. And you look down at Kaminari, only find him already staring up at you with pure adoration in his eyes. Was he watching you? You know you’ve got tears in your eyes, but you’re so overwhelmed with how thought out this whole gift was for you. He truly knows you and, god you loved him for it.
Kaminari’s mouth moves, but the bass swallows the words before they reach your ears/
“What?” You shout, leaning down a bit to be closer to his face.
“Happy birthday babe!” Kaminari shouts, a mega-watt grin covering his face as he reaches up and pulls a shiny piece of confetti from your hair. For a moment, you just blink at the man below you, letting the whole night sink in, desperately wanting it and the feeling of pure euphoria to last forever. All the excitement and happiness running rampant through your veins has your head feeling dizzy, so your not entirely surprised when your mouth moves on its own.
“I love you Denki!” You yell down to him, loud enough for him and probably the people around you both to hear it over the music. You witness as your words are processed through the blonde’s brain, and you don’t care about the consequences of your words, you love him and you need to tell him. Hell, you need to scream it off a rooftop or something, so screaming it off his shoulders will have to do for now.
Kaminari looks up at you, saying absolutely nothing. But you see nothing but happiness in his eyes, and your thundering heart seems to get some peace from that. Without another second of hesitation, his hand leaves your thigh before it meets your cheek, and he pulls you down until your lips meet his. Holy shit! He’s kissing me!
It’s awkward because you’re on his shoulders, and essentially am kissing him upside down, but it’s so you and perfect that you can’t help but love it. Your hands tighten in his blonde hair as he deepens the kiss, and you feel him smile against your lips. Shocks spark to life inside and across your body, ones that have nothing to do with Kaminari’s quirk, and for a second you think that your heart may have just exploded and that's the aftershock. But as you pull away and stare down into Denki’s grinning face, you’ve never felt more alive and more important in your entire life.
“I love you too, babe.” He yells back up at you and quickly wipes away a tear that slips down your cheek. You laugh at the fact that you’re crying at something like this, and quickly wipe your eyes, thankful for the waterproof mascara you donned.
Looking down at Kaminari one more time, you lift your hands into the air and cheer as the band plays their final notes.

Rainy Gays
Summary: Virgil hosts a radio station with Janus, and since it’s the only station that runs in their small town, just about everyone listens to it.
He still didn't expect one of those people to be his soulmate.
Ships: Intruxiety (Virgil and Remus) and hints at Roceit (Roman and Janus)
Read on Ao3
Chapter 1 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Good morning gaybies and gentlethems, you’re listening to Rainy Gays Radio, and we’re your hosts, I’m Janus,”
“And I’m Virgil, clearly the superior host, and that’s why it’s my turn to talk about the weather. Let’s see, looking outside, there’s some clouds, oh shit is that a bird? Nope, false alarm, it’s just another cloud. Rude little shits, pretending to be birds. That’s false advertising. Anygay, it’s supposed to rain later this week, so we really will be rainy gays then.”
“Wow, what an original joke Virgil, you totally don’t use that one every time it rains.”
“Nope, never in my life, shove off Janus.”
“Why Virgil, I’m wounded. I thought we were friends, and now you betray me? I never thought you’d be the one to stab me in the back, my dearest friend, how can I go on without you?”
“Perish.”
“Well, just for that, I’m not paying for coffee later. You can buy your own latte.”
“Rude, how dare you revoke my caffeine privileges, and on today of all days!”
“Wow, what a subtle transition into today’s caller topic, you’re a master of subtlety.”
“Shut-“
“No. Today’s topic is what everyone’s talking about. The new drink over at [INSERT COFFEE SHOP NAME HERE], the only coffee shop in town, and therefore the lifeblood of said town.”
“What would we do without it?”
“Perish.”
“Bite me, you’re not allowed to use my tactics against me.”
“I just did darling~. Now listeners, here’s your chance to burn no more than ten minutes and call in, tell us all about your thoughts on the new drink, Virgil dear, remind me of the name?”
“Black Hole Latte, I think it’s supposed to be blackberry or somethin? I haven’t had my coffee yet today, is it showing?”
“Yes dear, you look like shit.”
“Wow, thanks.”
“Anytime darling. You know the drill by now, we’re taking callers starting, now.”
“Here’s our first caller, that’s quick, people must be extra bored today. You’re on air now, spill the tea. Or the latte.”
“Hey, it’s Thomas, have either of you tried the latte?”
“Not yet”
“Negative Thom-a-roony.”
“Well, it’s not bad, it’s definite blackberry, but honestly I’ll be sticking with my usual, I’m not a huge fan of branching out.”
“You gotta mix it up sometimes, keeps things exciting.”
“Indeed, variety is the spice of life.”
“Yeah, I’ll keep that in mind, but for now me and my regular coffee are going to chill in the nice safe bubble.”
“You know man, that’s such a mood.”
“Thank you for calling Thomas, lovely to hear from you again.”
“Anything to burn a little more time away from work. Speaking of which, I’ve gotta go there now. Later!”
“See ya. Say, we’ve known Thomas for a few years now, does anyone know what he does for work?”
“Of course we do, he’s uh, hmm, actually, I don’t think we do. A real enigma, that man.”
“Yeah, he’s a real tough walnut to crack.”
“Here’s our next caller, you’re on air now.”
“Hey kiddos!”
“Hey Pat”
“Hello Patton, aren’t you at work right now?”
“Yeah I am, but I just wanted to let you both know how proud I am, you’re doing great! And I tried the new latte on my way to work, it’s super yummy! I think you’d like it, Virge, it’s got some nice fruity notes! Just make sure you don’t drink it too late or you’ll never sleep!”
“Will do Popstar.”
“That’s all, love you both!”
“Love you too Pat”
“I do as well.”
“See you both later tonight!”
“And that was our resident puffball, Patton.”
“At least she didn’t drop another pun, I’m not sure how many more Logan can take.”
“Yes, we might have been in need of a new soundboard tech had Patton not resisted the temptation to pun.”
“Oh shit there’s been another caller waiting.”
“Oh dear, sorry for the wait, you’re on air now.”
“Really babe, keeping the sole provider of coffee waiting?”
“Oh it’s just Remy.”
“Just Remy? Careful Virgil, or you’ll be getting decaf for the next week.”
“Please forgive my sins, oh merciful coffee god.”
“Relax, I didn’t call just to blackmail you. I just wanted everyone listening, which we all know is pretty much anyone, that if I hear any shit about my new latte I have no qualms about putting you all on decaf for the next two weeks, so think carefully before you call.”
“Remy, I do think that’s considered censorship, which is in fact, illegal.”
“So is fishing off a giraffe in Idaho, that didn’t stop me then, and this won’t now.”
“Wait, you went fishing off a giraffe? In Idaho? When exactly did that happen?”
“A story for another time, I’ve got a coffee shop to run, later babes.”
“Alright, later-“
“Oh, one more thing, some weirdo came in and ordered it and poured in half a bottle of green Gatorade, and it was the most interesting thing that’s happened all day.”
“Did you say Gatorade?”
“I did, and now I’m saying bye, see ya, sianara, farewell, later bitch.”
“Wait who- and they’re already gone. Well, now I know there’s someone new in town, no one here would ever add anything to one of Remy’s coffee.”
“Excellent deduction Virgil, you should start a true crime radio.”
“You’re right, I should.”
“That was sarcasm, you’re not allowed to quit on me now.”
“Yeah yeah I know, but a guy can dream.”
“Dreaming is for the weak and the innocent, and you are neither.”
“I’d get mad but you’re right.”
“Did you just admit that I was right?”
“Oh look a new caller, how convenient-“
“Virgil answer me damnit- hello you’re on air now.”
“You know, I thought the coffee was good and all, but it was much better once I added my usual shot of Gatorade.”
“Did you just say- oh dear I think Virgil might need a trashcan.”
“Wow Virgil, do always make that wonderful gagging noise? I’d like to see what other noises you can make, with that lovely voice~”
“Dear random stranger, I think you broke my co-host, and possibly my back as well, seeing as I just fell out of it”
“Is that what that thump was? I was almost concerned for a moment.”
“Who the hell puts Gatorade in their coffee?!?!”
“Oh Virgil, glad to see you’ve recovered.”
“Don’t you play innocent, I will end you on air.”
“Wow, the sexual tension between the two of you is reeling right now.”
“Uhh, no thanks. Janus and I go way back, there’s no romance there, plus, we’re not soulmates.”
“Yes, Virgil is a dear friend, and while I love him, it’s purely platonic, and we’re happy with that.”
“Cool cool, does that mean Virgil’s single?”
“That’s what you got from that?”
“Yeah, you sound like you’re pretty hot.”
“I think you broke Virgil again, Gatorade stranger.”
“Oh, my name’s Remus! Though Virgil can call me whatever he wants, lover, dear, daddy, all acceptable.”
“Dude, you’re on the radio.”
“Oh, I’m very aware of that fact emo.”
“How do you know I’m emo?”
“You sound like it Gerard Gay.”
“Fair point.”
“As riveting as this conversation is, I think my brother is gonna stab me if I keep talking, so bye for now!”
“Why is your brother- and he’s gone, okay.”
“Final caller, you’re on air now, please don’t flirt with Virgil again”
“Is that what he did? I’m so sorry about my brother, Remus has zero filter.”
“Dude it’s fine, surprisingly we’ve gotten weirder calls.”
“Really?”
“Yeah, one time we got a telemarketer for a lingerie company.”
“That is weird, but trust me, doesn’t even touch on what Remus is capable of.”
“Good to know.”
“If he turns out to be a frequent caller, will you keep calling to apologize? You do have a lovely voice, so I wouldn’t be disappointed with the arrangement~”
“Oh I, um,”
“Stop flirting with the callers.”
“Callers? Do you do this often?”
“Only when they sound like a sunrise personified.”
“I’m hardly a sunrise, but yes, I wouldn’t be opposed to calling in again, Remus’s contributions aside.”
“Oh my god, I know the show is called Rainy Gays, but please stop flirting before I vomit again.”
“Apologies Virgil, we’re almost out of time anyway. Any chance I can get a name before we have to go, my dear?”
“Oh, Roman, my name is Roman.”
“A name fit for royalty~”
“Janus I swear to god-“
“And that’s all the time we have, for now, tune in later for your daily traffic report and water cooler conversation.”
“We’re not done talking about this-“
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Virgil glared at Janus as he packed up, the smug bastard smirking every time their eyes met. They had no right, looking so self-satisfied, how dare they flirt so smooth when Virgil was cursed to be an eternal gay disaster?
He huffed, and Janus snorted, and he threw them a glare.
“You could at least pretend to be sorry.”
“But Virgil, that would be a lie, and I would never lie, it’s a blatant mark on my character!”
“We both know that’s a load of bullshit.”
Logan walked out of the sound room, rolling his eyes. “With the way you two carry on, it’s no wonder the listeners think you’re romantically involved.”
They both gasped and spluttered, grievously offended. “How dare-”
“Just try not to flirt with the callers so much? You’re both incorrigible.” He straightened his tie, and slung his bag over his shoulder, heading out. “Don’t forget to lock up, we don’t want another raccoon breaking in.”
“Logan, don’t say such things about Virgil, his eyebags and crummy food choices don’t warrant name-calling!”
Janus just smirked when Virgil hissed at them.
“Plus, his hissing is distinctly cat-like.”
“You little-” was all he got out before he threw his balled-up scarf at them, which they caught with ease. Smug bastard.
He ruffled through his bag, then his coat pockets, then his bag again. He sighed, and scrubbed his hands through his hair. “Have you seen my keys? I can’t find them, and Joan will skin my alive if I lose another set.”
Janus sighed and pinched the bridge of their nose. “Virgil, have you ever considered getting a keyring? Or something to keep track of them?”
“Hey, I do! I got the stormcloud one, remember!” He protested sheepishly, “but then I lost that too. It’s with my keys, wherever those are.”
“Virgil, you are a disater, how are you still allowed to live on our own?”
“I have you and Pat as neighbors.”
“Fair enough, your keys are hanging on the key rack, right where you hung them up when you got here.”
“Oh.” He sheepishly proccured his keys, and then held the door open for Janus once they were ready, and the two headed home together.
“You taking the bus?”
“Not today, it’s quite nice out and I have the energy for it, a walk will be good for me, and for you too, a little vitamin D won’t kill you ya know.”
Virgil gasped dramatically, feigning offense. “Exxxxxcccuuussseee you! That bright motherf***er,” he pointed to the sun, “is absolutley trying to kill me. Skin cancer, sunburns, heatstroke, cataracts? All from the sun!”
“Virgil the sun doesn’t have an vendetta against you, it has one against all of humanity.”
“Bold of you to assume he’s human!”
The voice came from behind them, making them both jump, and Virgil couldn’t help what blurted out of his mouth, truly it wasn’t his fault.
“MOTHMANS LITTLE HOE! WHo the F*** STILL SNEAKS UP ON ME!?!?!”
He spun around, and dropped his jaw as he layed eyes on the most drop-dead gorgeous man he’d ever seen. Was showing that much skin even legal?
The man gasped and looked down at his wrist, and his eyes widened before he looked back up at Virgil, grinning. “Well well well, looks like you’re my soulmate, Gerard Gay!”
Virgil sighed, “f*** me and my big mouth.”
But You Can Never Leave [Chapter 2: Accept The Fucking Offer]
Series summary: You are an overwhelmed and disenchanted nurse in Boston, Massachusetts. Queen is an eccentric British rock band you’ve never heard of. But once your fates intertwine in the summer of 1974, none of your lives will ever be the same...
This series is a work of fiction, and is (very) loosely inspired by real people and events. Absolutely no offense is meant to actual Queen or their families.
Song inspiration: Hotel California by The Eagles.
The floor is quiet. Your patients—all except one—are sound asleep and mercifully keeping their call buttons at a distance. Patricia is camped out in the nurses’ station at the other end of the hall, chomping noisily on sunflower seeds and wailing along to Tammy Wynette on her portable radio. Queen is enjoying their fourth late-night picnic of the week. You close the door and check your watch; you have seven minutes left before your break ends.
“Let’s kill her,” Freddie suggests casually, hanging his smoldering cigarette out of the open window.
“You know that’s extremely bad for you.”
“What? Committing felonies?”
“I don’t think you’d do well in prison, Fred,” Roger says, popping a Cheeto into his mouth. “No sequined leotards. No cats.”
“Smoking,” you correct. “Smoking is extremely bad for you.”
Freddie takes a drag, exhales a fog of smoke, and grins at you beneath gleaming sunglasses. “Possibly. But darling, the aesthetic is divine. And you’ll take care of me if I get sick, won’t you? Ensure I get all the best drugs, procure new lungs for me on the black market?”
Brian rolls his eyes and nibbles a violet plum, then gestures for John to pass him a napkin as juice dribbles down his stubbled chin. John flaps the napkin just outside of Brian’s reach, yanking it away each time Brian swipes. Roger snickers, observing their exchange from his place on the floor, before eventually advising John to have mercy. Brian snatches the napkin and promptly whips John across the face with it.
“So now you have me committing felonies,” you tell Freddie with a smile.
“Keeps things spicy.” Freddie peers over at you, brow crinkled, studying you like an abstract painting. “Do you like your job, dear?”
Brian groans. “Fred, please, don’t interrogate her—”
“I’m not interrogating, I’m inquiring—!”
“It’s fine, seriously, Bri, it’s fine,” you say. Brian raises his hands in surrender. His coloring has improved, he’s gained five pounds, he’s being discharged tomorrow. Then Queen will be whisked across the Atlantic back to London...and that’s a truth you’re struggling to grasp. “I love what I do. Just not necessarily where I do it.”
Freddie nods, puffing on his cigarette. “Because of Nurse Queen of the Underworld.”
“Not just her.” You can remember being a child and worshiping at the altar of familiarity: your home, that old maroon Queen Anne-style house at the intersection of Apple Avenue and Arcadia Street; inhaling New England autumns; burying yourself in your mother’s soft, cream-colored knit sweaters that were dusted with the scents of homemade pies and Chanel No. 5; the creaks of that uneven, tobacco-stained wood floor of your father’s study beneath your bare feet. Whatever existed outside of your comfortable, commonplace universe—whatever monsters or treasures or undiscovered ringed planets dwelled there—held no interest for you at all. You wanted to live here, die here, raise your own family here, take your children to play under the same weeping willows in the Public Green that your grandparents had met beneath. And then one day, in the purging heat of the summer after your sophomore year of college...you woke up and realized that all those comforting things suddenly felt like a cage, that your fingers were threading bars made of your family and your friends and every grain of soil in Boston. Patricia is dreadful, of course, and has been since you arrived at Massachusetts General nine months ago; but she’s not what you’re running from. “It’s this hospital, it’s this city, it’s Boston. I was born here and I cherish it, don’t get me wrong, but I want to see the world. Mountains and lakes and cathedrals and castles and...and...you know. All the rest.”
“That’s how I felt about Cornwall when I was a kid,” Roger confesses. “I’d take my little acoustic guitar out into the backyard and look up at the sky as I played and think, ‘Is this really it? Am I ever going to get beyond all this to something more?’”
“Yes, yes, well no one asked for your autobiography, blondie,” Freddie quips. Roger chuckles, entirely unoffended. “Continue, dear.”
You think before you respond. When you do speak, it comes out heavier than you mean it to, more serious, more pained, whispered, your voice splintering. “I guess I just don’t want to die without really living first.”
The boys watch you for a while: Brian poised and pondering, Freddie seeking, Roger empathetic, John very quiet. John has spoken—at the absolute most—five words to you since you’ve met him; but you know he can get chatty with Freddie or Rog on occasion, and so you’ve held out hope that you can still win him over. Now you’re almost out of time.
At last, Roger raises his beer, smiling, showing the tiny points of his canine teeth. “Cheers to that.” And it sends something through you like a one-way ticket into a brand new world.
You laugh nervously. “Okay. Wow. Enough of all that, I have to go save lives now.” You wash your hands in the sink and pull on a new pair of gloves, dodging Roger’s large, affecting eyes.
“Do you have a boyfriend, lovely Clara Barton?” Freddie asks. They know your actual name, they’ve known it since night one, but they’ve taken to referring to you as whatever famous nurses they can recall from high school.
“Freddie,” Brian admonishes.
“What, I’m just asking—”
“No, actually, I don’t,” you tell Fred. “Why, do you want a Green Card?”
“Darling, no offense, but if I was going to marry for strategic purposes I would aim for someone far older and astronomically richer. With life insurance.”
“Thanks, Freddie.”
“You’re quite welcome.”
“Are you single? Since we’re all sharing our life stories.”
“I’m not,” he replies, somewhat cagily. “None of us are. Well, Brian certainly isn’t, and Deaky wasn’t last I checked, although he’s tricksy and awfully quiet about the whole affair, so I ought to confirm that at some point...how about you, Rog?”
Roger chokes on his beer and wipes his dripping nose with one fuchsia sleeve. “Uh, I, uh, yeah, yeah, uh, I’m single. Yes.”
“Oh?” Brian says, eyebrows raised. “Someone should probably inform Josephine.”
“That’s a casual thing. Super casual. Not exclusive.”
Freddie and Brian exchange a glance: an amused, smirking, what else can you expect from Roger? glance. You try to smirk at Roger too; but he shrugs guiltily, endearingly, with some mesmerizing spell of danger and innocence and wildness and beauty, angels and demons that you didn’t know could coexist without clubbing each other to death. And you mean to file this away as a warning, a reminder to keep your distance; but it feels more like blowing on embers until they leap into flames.
Bad idea, lady. Really, really, really, exorbitantly bad idea.
“Alright, I’m out. Brian, you have the call button if you need it. There’re extra cups and napkins in the cabinet and—”
You open the door. Patricia is halfway down the hallway and approaching quickly, glinting-eyed, stone-faced, keys grasped in her hand. A glimpse at your watch informs you that your break ended two minutes ago. You swing the door shut.
“Get out!” you whisper urgently, and Roger bolts for the window. He pitches his beer outside and helps John climb through the opening and drop safely to the ground below.
“Fred!” Roger hisses, waving, and he lowers Freddie out of the window next as you kick snack wrappers and empty bottles beneath Brian’s hospital bed. Bri smooths his blankets, turns off his lamp, shakes the peanuts out of his hair that John lobbed there. You rush to Roger as you hear keys rattling against the door.
“Here, I’ll help you...” Without thinking, you take his hands as he hesitates in the open window and steady him as he crawls out. You can see Freddie and John down in the darkness, reaching up to catch Roger when he falls. A sudden wave of mourning grips you. I’m never going to see them again. “Bye,” you say, without any cleverness at all. But Roger smiles like it’s the best thing he’s heard in weeks, maybe months, maybe ever. He glances to where your hands hold his.
“Bye,” he replies in that raspy, radiant voice. And then he’s gone.
You sigh shakily. You turn around. Patricia stands in the open doorway.
“Oh,” she says, grinning like a shark, almost gloating. “You are so fired.”
~~~~~~~~~~
“We’re sorry, we’re so sorry, you have no idea how—”
“It’s fine, Roger.”
You’re standing under a lamppost just beyond hospital property at 7:15 a.m. Your shift is over, your very last shift at Massachusetts General; Roger waited outside to meet you all night. There are swollen shadows beneath his eyes, his cheeks are flushed with fury and mortification, he’s edgy and pacing and chain smoking. The sun is bright and already hot, the Arctic terns cawing and swooping overhead.
“It’s not fucking fine,” he flares. “We got you fired—”
“Roger, I was miserable there. I was jaded and complacent and I felt trapped, I felt like I was standing in cement, I felt like I was suffocating and I didn’t know how to bail myself out of it or how to explain any of this to my parents. But now...thanks to Queen...I’m free. I got the shock I needed. I can move on.”
“You didn’t deserve to leave like that,” he insists menacingly. “That bitch isn’t going to write you recommendations. You were good at what you did, you were really fucking good, Brian was despondent before you took over. You deserved better.”
You shrug. “Life’s not fair, Rog.”
“That’s the truth.” He takes a drag off his cigarette and you hold out your hand. He stares at you, perplexed, but passes the cigarette. You smoke a few puffs, then give it back. Roger smiles. “I thought that was extremely bad for you.”
“Most of the best things are.”
“Well.” He shuffles his feet anxiously. “I have a proposition.”
“Yeah?”
“Since you’ve successfully untethered yourself from all your unfulfilling earthly obligations...come to London with us.”
You feel your jaw fall open, feel all the tension in your muscles unravel as the numb shock rolls through you. “Uh. I was thinking maybe the Peace Corps or joining a travel nursing agency or something.”
Roger winks and nudges your shoulder with his. “Transatlantic flights to London count as travel.”
“That’s...accurate...”
“No, seriously!” Rog presses. “Look, every time a band tours, the company hires a medic or a nurse to go with them. They stitch up busted faces, sanitize infected tattoos, prevent us from dying of alcohol poisoning, ice knocked-out teeth until we can get to a dentist, the works. We’re going to be recording as much as possible in London, but Brian will be on bed rest for most of the next few months. You can take care of him. Keep his spirits up. You’re good at that. We’ll all chip in to pay you if the company won’t, Freddie and John have already agreed to it and I know Brian will as soon as I ask. Then, when we inevitably go on tour again...you can be our travel nurse.” He grins confidently, electrifyingly, like he’s figured out all of life’s thorniest questions.
“Rog, I really appreciate the offer, but...uh...this is really too much, and I have no travel nurse experience whatsoever, and...and...look, you are all really talented, I mean that, but you have some seriously chaotic energy and I’m not sure global fame is in the cards for Queen—”
Roger interrupts you brusquely. “You said you love what you do. So you like taking care of people, right?”
“I do, yeah.”
“And you want to see the world.”
“Absolutely.”
“And you think we’re fun, don’t you? Exciting? Audacious? Reckless enough to keep you busy with the fallout of frequent near-death experiences?”
“That sounds about right.”
“So...” He waggles his blond eyebrows. “Come with us.”
You look up into the mid-June sky, as blue and churning as the Boston Harbor, and try to imagine it: packing your suitcase (you really don’t need to bring all that much), digging your passport out of your jewelry box (you know exactly where it is), telling your parents that you’re jetting off to Europe the next day (they would accept it, maybe they’d even be proud; you’d finally be striking out on your own), renting some cheap little apartment in London (you have enough savings to get you started).
“Accept the offer,” Roger says.
“I really don’t think—”
“Accept the offer.”
“—I just couldn’t impose like that, I mean you’re not making any money yet and—”
“Accept the offer.”
“—You guys shouldn’t feel like you owe me this just because I happened to—”
Roger cradles your face with rough hands, gazes fixedly into your eyes, and smiles blindingly. “Love,” he says. “Accept. The fucking. Offer.”
Bad idea, terrible idea, literally the worst idea in the history of human civilization.
“Okay,” you reply softly.
“Okay, like, for real okay?”
“Yeah.” And entirely against your will, you break into a grin. This is the start of the rest of my life. This is the graveyard of familiarity.
“Yes!” Roger cheers. He takes your left hand, raises it to his lips, bites you lightly across the knuckles: some feral, ludicrously on-brand vision of Roger as a Disney hero. I’m the Lady and he’s the Tramp. I’m Sleeping Beauty and he’s the Prince who’s going to finally wake me up, even if it means slaughtering a dragon or two.
“Cute,” you say sarcastically. But, actually, it sort of is.
“Can I walk you home?” Roger asks. “You live around the corner, right? I can help you pack. Oh, wait, maybe I should shower first, I don’t want your parents to see me like this...I am a literal ashtray...my hair is ridiculous...I think I still have some eyeliner on...is the fuchsia jacket too much...?”
You watch Roger as he scrutinizes himself fretfully, his words fading out of the picture, the world becoming a silent film. You can’t look away. If Brian’s a willow tree and Freddie’s a lightning storm, what is Roger? Wildfire, you decide.
He follows you through breezy, shaded Boston streets to the house at the intersection of Apple and Arcadia, with the solemn promise that he can borrow your shower and an old pair of gym shorts. You know he’ll charm your parents instantly, that they’ll fall in love with him. Everyone does.
When you look down at your left hand, there’s a vanishing silhouette of a bruise where he bit you; and if you really think about it you can feel that it still burns.

don’t need money, don’t need sleep (just need your pretty face)
hi !!!!! some jalex fluff for you all :)
back when i was looking to start writing some jalex i requested prompts from my friends and @tirednotflirting gave me three from this list: 14, 23, and 82. sam i am sorry it took me so long to get this done (and that it’s not like, my best work or anything) but i am treating this like a prompt fic even though you never actually sent the prompt to my inbox so here it is as its own post. how exciting
title is from bottle and a beat by all time low god that song really did not deserve to be a b-side have i mentioned i love all time low?? was that evident?? anyway. onward
read it here on ao3
Jack yawns. “I’m sleepy.”
“Then go to sleep, you dolt,” Alex says, although it’s dripping with fondness and he’s sure Jack can tell, even over Skype.
“No,” Jack says. “Talking to you.”
“We can talk tomorrow,” Alex says logically. “I’ll be home tomorrow.”
“Mm, that’s too long,” Jack says, and then yawns again. “Alex,” he says, stretching out the vowel, “I’m tired. ” He closes his eyes and buries his head on his pillow. The angle of his camera really should be unflattering, but Alex is so in love, and he misses falling asleep with Jack so much, that even getting to see his almost-asleep face is feeding a part of him.
“You want me to sing you something?” Alex asks. Jack smiles, or at least the visible half of his face does.
“Just tell me about your day,” he says. His voice is barely audible and his lips hardly move; he’s clearly just on the verge of falling asleep completely. Alex is concerned for his phone battery.
“I’ve told you about my day already,” he says.
“Tell me again. I like to hear your voice.”
They’re so ridiculous, Alex realizes. They are the shitty rom-com couples that people point at to say look how unrealistic that is. Nobody acts like that in real life. But Alex is happy with Jack, happier than he’s ever been, and he thinks that’s more than worth the cheesy tropes.
“Alright,” Alex says. He settles back against the hotel pillows. They’re too soft; if Jack were here he’d have a lot of choice words about that. Jack’s firm anti-soft-pillow stance has taken over their bed — all of their pillows are relatively unyielding. Yet another way that Jack has made himself a permanent fixture in Alex’s life. God, Alex loves him. “Well, I woke up at the hell hour of five in the morning, and then I tried to Google Maps my way to the radio station, which didn’t work, and I ended up kind of lost. So then I called Rian, because obviously I didn’t want Bryan to know I got lost, and Rian just laughed at me, and then together we figured it out — there are two places here with the same address, like, one is the radio station and the other is, like, a convenience store, so I don’t know what kind of planning went into that? Anyway, the radio promo stuff was fine, and then I went and got coffee and called my boyfriend, except he didn’t pick up because he was still asleep, and I should have probably known better than to try and call, so I left him a really cute message that I bet he still hasn’t listened to.”
Alex pauses, watches the screen. Jack’s breathing is even. He’s never been the kind of person who could fall asleep right away, but now must be an exception, or maybe he’s more tired than usual, because he’s already dropped off, and his phone is moving irregularly until it finally slips out of Jack’s grasp and the screen goes dark, face-down on the bed. Alex smiles. “And then I had a boring day and then I Skyped my boyfriend and he had the audacity to fall asleep while I was in the middle of talking to him,” he concludes. “And I love you, and I’ll see you tomorrow. Goodnight, sweetheart.”
Jack doesn’t reply, so Alex resolves to remind him tomorrow. Maybe without calling him sweetheart, though. Jack doesn’t take kindly to nicknames unless they’re grossly unrealistic (sugarplum, and such).
For the moment, though, Alex listens to Jack breathe slowly, and then he hangs up the call, sets his phone aside, and pulls the covers over himself. Sleeping alone is one of Alex’s least favorite things, but he’s lulled to sleep by the promise of not having to do it again tomorrow night.
-
“Hi,” Jack breathes, throwing his arms around Alex’s neck. Alex gives a little, wrapping his arms around Jack’s waist and squeezing tight.
“Hi. I missed you.”
“I missed you,” Jack echoes. “More. Fuck, it’s good to hear your voice.”
Alex laughs. “You heard my voice yesterday.”
“Not like this,” Jack says, bringing his hands reverently to Alex’s throat like he wants to feel the way it moves when Alex talks. “It’s so much better in person.”
“That’s rude,” Alex says. “You listen to my voice on recordings all the time. Are you saying I’m worse on albums than I am live?”
“Whatever,” Jack says, drawing Alex into a kiss. He’s managed to suspiciously sidestep the question — Alex will have to interrogate him further later on — but for now he just hugs Jack close. Yet another cheesy rom-com trope: kissing on the doorstep.
It makes Alex chuckle, so it might do it for Jack too. Alex pulls away. “They should make a Hallmark movie about us.”
“Fuck, I’d love that,” Jack says, grinning and stealing another kiss off Alex’s lips. “I don’t think I’ve ever seen a Hallmark movie, but I’d watch it if you were in it. Or if I was in it, honestly.”
“I don’t think they’d cast us as ourselves.” Their acting careers begin and end with the “Something’s Gotta Give” music video. “And I would want to be played by Jason Statham.”
“Jason Statham? Why the fuck?”
It had really just been the first name to come to mind, so Alex shrugs. “Handsome and British?”
Jack snorts. “I want to be played by Brad Pitt then.”
“What the fuck do you and Brad Pitt have in common?”
“Uh, excuse me? We’re both sexy and have cult followings.”
Alex laughs, loud. “Got me there.” It makes Jack smile indulgently, all pleased like he’d gotten precisely the reaction he’d wanted, and Alex loves him so much it threatens the break the seams holding his heart together and just flood him. It might already have done.
“Okay, it’s cold,” Jack says. “You’re letting all the fucking air in, you asshole.”
“You can’t be nice for more than one minute.” Alex edges past Jack into the house. It’s true they’re letting the cold night air inside, but if Jack’s going to be a shithead then two can play that game.
“It’s late and I’m tired,” Jack whines as they walk together to the bedroom. Alex drops his bag on the floor. He can unpack it later. Tomorrow, or the day after, or next week — definitely at some point. Maybe he can harass Jack into unpacking it for him. Bribe him with sexual favors or a fancy dinner or something.
“Babe, you’re preaching to the choir,” Alex says. He’s exhausted. Travel takes it out of him, and the prospect of curling up with Jack, cold feet pressed against calves under the warmth of the blanket, is so appealing it almost makes Alex cry. Putting on a silly affectation, he says, “Prepare the bed, monsieur, and I shall join you presently.”
“Ah, yes,” Jack says, rolling with it — because he’s the best and weirdest boyfriend ever, and so perfect for Alex — with an exaggerated bow. He jumps into bed, already pajama-clad in boxers and one of Alex’s shirts, kicking down the covers so they’re far back enough for Alex to slip underneath. In a French accent, he says, “Le bed is prepared, monsieur Gaskarth.”
“Merci,” Alex says, which is about the extent of his French knowledge. Carelessly discarding his travel clothes, he grabs a comfier shirt and pulls it on. Then he clambers into bed, Jack’s arm settling comfortably over his shoulders. Even more than their reunion hug/kiss/debate at the door, lying down with Jack in their bed at home restores in Alex a sense of peace that he only finds here. He wishes it existed in words instead of just feelings, but it doesn’t. Alex would know; he’s tried, hundreds of times, to write it down, has filled pages with efforts to find an adequate description, but there’s nothing like the feeling. Nothing like just being at home with Jack, redundant though that is.
(If it’s Jack, it’s home. But it’s nice to have a place where they can mutually agree to be at home with each other.)
“I missed this,” Jack murmurs, leaning his head onto Alex’s shoulder as Alex shifts to accommodate him. “Before you say it, I know you were only away for a day, but I can still miss it.”
“I was going to say I missed you too,” Alex says. “But now that you’ve mentioned it, Jack, come on. I was only gone for a day. Don’t get clingy.”
Jack bites Alex’s shoulder and Alex laughs. “You’re an asshole.”
“I know.”
“I’m joking,” Jack adds, yawning.
Alex reaches across Jack’s lap to grab his hand. It’s a little awkward, holding Jack’s left hand with his own, but they make it work. “Okay. Tell me about your day. We didn’t talk all day because I was traveling.”
Jack hums. “Seriously, now?”
“I talked you to sleep last night,” Alex protests. “It’s only fair.”
“So you don’t even want to know about my day? You’re just going to fall asleep?”
Alex shakes his head as Jack straightens up in mock-indignance. “Come on,” he entreats Jack, shuffling lower to curl up against him. Jack’s not small in most ways, because he’s the tallest in the band, and his personality fills every room like a gas, reaching the corners no matter how far they are. But he’s so skinny, so many lean lines, that it should be more difficult to cuddle up to him. Still, Alex finds it surpassingly easy. He rests his head against Jack’s chest, immediately attuned to the steady beat of his heart. When the foundations of Alex’s world are crumbling to the ground, when he’s grasping at straws or gasping for air, he can always sink an anchor into Jack’s heartbeat.
Objectively, it’s just a ba-bump rhythm like any other, but it’s music to Alex, and music has always been his driving force.
“Fine,” Jack huffs, curling his fingers into the cotton of Alex’s shirt. Alex burrows into him, closing his eyes, sliding his legs between Jack’s under the covers and slinging one arm over Jack’s stomach. “But it wasn’t that exciting. Mostly I just waited for you to get home.” Yeah, right. Even Jack can’t sit around doing nothing for a full day. “I don’t know. I washed my dishes from yesterday. Listened to all of Enema start to finish. Called my mom. It wasn’t that eventful.”
“You’re so ridiculous,” Alex mumbles, feeling his lips buzz against fabric. “Proud of you for doing the dishes, though.”
“Don’t get your hopes up. It won’t happen again.”
Alex smiles, too tired to laugh. “Sure.”
Jack is gently rubbing his knuckles against Alex’s back. “That was it. Not a lot to report, I told you.” “How’s your mom?”
“Good. She asked about you.”
“Oh? What did you say?”
“That you went dark side and became a drug dealer.” Alex snorts. “She took it well, of course. Told me she always knew you were a drug dealer inside and that she was glad you were living your truth.”
“She did not say that.”
“I am one hundred percent serious, I can call her right now and ask.”
If Alex weren’t so worn out, he’d keep up the banter, but he’s pretty sure neither of them are up for it at the moment, so he lets it drop. For a few minutes, they sink into an easy quiet. Alex sighs, content. His soul has stopped its restless search for comfort, now that he’s home, now that they’re reunited, and the calm washing over him is stronger than a sedative. “Mm, I’m so tired,” he says, mouth barely moving. “Wanna sleep.”
“I’ve been tired for, like, twenty-four hours,” Jack says. “Go to sleep. I’m right there with you.” He drops a kiss onto the top of Alex’s head, knuckles still tracing their pattern just under Alex’s shoulder blades, a sweet soporific lulling Alex to the edges of consciousness. He wants to kiss Jack goodnight, but he doesn’t have the energy to move. As it is, he’s pretty sure he’s already drifted off.
“G’night,” he remembers to say.
Jack drums his fingertips over Alex’s back, and even though Alex can’t see him, he knows Jack is smiling. “‘Night. Love you.”
Fuck, that’s what he’d forgotten. “Love you,” Alex exhales with the last of his waking energy, and falls asleep after that, with no reason left not to.
(He would say I’m happy to be home, but he’s already said it with love you, and he knows that Jack knows.)

Chapter 2: Funny Feeling
Story: Why Can’t This Be Love
Chapters: 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6
Art of Eddie and Richie by @whatidoisxsecret
Located on Archive of Our Own
___
Eddie’s leg was bouncing up and down quickly as he sat in the semi-empty Thai food restaurant. Mike and him always had lunch at on Wednesday. It started after Mike’s dad died for a source of comfort. Not that Eddie felt qualified in any way to comfort someone after the death of a parent when he could barely remember his own father, but Mike meant a lot to him. He needed someone who would listen. Who would not change the subject because they were uncomfortable like Bill, or make an inappropriate joke like Richie, or avoid the topic of fathers altogether like Beverly had every right to do. Ben used to come before his big promotion, it had him traveling too much now. That left, Eddie, who would listen, nod, give some thoughts, but mostly just be there for Mike.
They kept up their lunch dates long after Will Hanlon’s death because it was special to them. If there were a couple of dishes they both wanted, they would get them and share. Mike always got a dessert that Eddie would mooch from. Spending one on one time with Mike was easy, never worrisome.
For once, Eddie was especially nervous today because he had to lie to Mike. Lying to his friends was not his forte. He knew how to lie or fudge the truth, it was an important ability he developed living under his mother’s strict roof. The question wasn’t whether he could do it or not but the guilt might eat at him.
This was all Richie’s FAULT. Last night when he suggested they be each other’s dates to Ben and Beverly’s wedding, Eddie was so caught off guard that he found himself agreeing. Well, not exactly saying yes, but he certainly didn’t say no. He told Richie he would think about it. The idea was actually brilliant, the only problem would be convincing their friends they were dating and not just using a loophole in the ‘Eddie and Richie must have wedding dates’ rule.
He wasn’t even necessarily nervous to pretend to be Richie’s date. In fact, he found himself a little exhilarated at the prospect. Their conversation about how to handle this didn’t get very far, but Richie said they would have to start dropping hints to the losers club immediately. It wouldn’t be enough to be each other’s date, they must convince everyone they liked each other as more than best friends. It was this part that sent him into a bit of a spiral.
“Sorry, I’m late!” Mike came flying into him for a quick hug, almost tipping him out of the chair, then sat across picking up his menu. Eddie looked at the tired, yet caffeine-fueled human in front of him fondly. Mike was a handsome and extremely good-hearted man. It always surprised him that Mike was single, but Eddie had a feeling he was looking for the kind of true love his parents’ possessed. Which wouldn’t be easy to replicate as the Hanlons were a beautiful couple.
“You’re fine.” Eddie waved him off. “I’ve just been suffering from the boredom of waiting for you.”
Mike rolled his eyes, “So much suffering. I bet you were texting Richie the whole time.”
“No, I wasn’t!” his eyes flashed in irritation. He hadn’t been, nevermind that normally he would be texting Richie. Right now he felt a little nauseous thinking about it. “My life doesn’t revolve around him.”
Mike laughed, “No need to bite my head off.” Eddie rolled his eyes but begrudgingly smiled.
“So why were you late?” Eddie asked.
“Boss needed me to show a new employee around the library.” Mike picked up the menu. “She seems nice.”
“Nice?” Eddie raised an eyebrow in surprise. His friend tended to be very private about people he might find attractive. It was vital he stayed cautious, if not also a bit nosy, when trying to ask questions. He hesitated then, “Are you interested in her?” Then immediately regretted it as that was probably too much too fast. So much for cautious.
Mike glanced over the top of his menu clearly debating how much to reveal. His dark eyes were steady with internal conflict. “Maybe? She’s a knockout that’s for sure. So how was dinner last night? Any new news?”
He nodded still wanting to push the subject further but he had the job of leaving hints about his own fake dating life. He considered how to do this then a crazy idea came to him.
Without meeting Mike’s eyes, Eddie started by saying, “Mike...I think I am gay.” He couldn’t believe he just said those words aloud.
A gasp and smile came from Mike’s lips, “Oh wow! I…” He was completely thrown for what to say. “Thank you for sharing that. How do you feel?”
“A little sick to be honest.” Eddie groaned. He should not have done that. It was a mistake. Suddenly, his breathing picked up in a telltale sign of a panic attack emerging.
“Hey, hey…that’s ok.” Mike reassured him gently, he reached forward to pat Eddie’s hand comfortingly.
“I told Richie too.” Eddie gasped out, breathing evening back out with his friend’s kindness. Silence ensued as Mike clearly tried to control his facial expressions. This was Eddie’s chance, he gulped heavily. “I’m happy Richie knows.”
Mike hesitated then said, “Oh yeah?”
Eddie nodded, “Ya know, because he’s...he’s Richie.” He’s my person. But Eddie didn’t want to say that out loud and offend Mike, someone just as important. “I don’t know how I am going to tell Ben and Bev when they JUST told Richie and me about this ‘Have to take a date to their wedding’ deal.” Eddie bit the bottom of his lip. “Thanks for not warning me by the way.” He said sarcastically, removing his hand from underneath Mike’s.
Mike opened his mouth to defend himself but the waitress swooped in to grab their food and drink orders. She gave Eddie a wink when he asked for his meal, which reddened his cheeks a bit in embarrassment. People flirting with him always made him uncomfortable. Except with Richie, he was the only person Eddie could laugh off the flirting easily. Most likely from years of dealing with it.
After she walked away, Mike turned to Eddie with a determined expression, “You had to know they would ask something like this of you. Stanley’s wedding was bad enough then Bill’s, you both need someone to rein you in.”
A spark of rage ignited within Eddie, he was always easily angered when pushed. “Those were rough fucking times for me! And last year was hard as fuck on Richie with the death of his dad. You should understand of all people.”
Mike’s lips pursed and he spoke very slowly, “I do understand, Eddie. But this day is about Beverly and Ben. They get to ask whatever the fuck they want from any of us.”
“It’s embarrassing, Mike.” Eddie’s voice was rising in pitch and volume as a familiar panic started to set in. “Forcing me to get a date and, in turn, now I have to come out to them to explain why the person I am bringing will be a guy. It wasn’t fair of them to put me and Richie on the spot like that! You knew! You should have said something.” As all of this rolled out of Eddie’s mouth, a crazy dawning hit him. He might actually...be...no...he can’t be. Can he?
Mike listened carefully before sighing loudly. He looked away from Eddie then back at him. “I’m sorry I didn’t tell you.”
Eddie nodded. “That’s all I wanted to hear.”
They got interrupted by the waitress coming with their food and drinks. The meals smelled incredible but neither of them touched their food. Mike clearly wanted to say more from the tense way his jaw twitched.
“I really didn’t think about it, Eddie. I’m sorry you were put in that position.” Mike gave the saddest expression that made his tired face look even more burdened.
Eddie was never able to stay mad at his friends for long. “You apologized. Good enough for me.” And almost as a sign of peace, Eddie reached over and took a spoonful of Mike’s Pad Thai. “So tell me about the library girl.”
Mike beamed at him. “Her name is Carole Danners…”
Eddie marched forward like a soldier ready for war. He got to the door of Richie’s apartment and knocked. There was a thump and yell from inside. Richie must have been napping then fell off the couch. Which made sense since he worked the night shift at the Radio station and did standup many nights.
Eddie was losing his resolve with every passing second. It was taking far too long for Richie to answer. His feet started carrying him away from the stoop then the door flung open.
Richie’s hair was messy, sticking out everywhere. Eddie was annoyed at how his cheeks warmed seeing Richie shirtless and wearing only boxers.
Now, he isn’t blind or an idiot, Eddie knows Richie is really good looking. He’s known the guy through braces, the growth spurt, his skin clearing and the mercy of puberty turning him into a beautiful man. Richie works out to keep fit for industry standards, he has a soft stomach from still eating junk and too much beer, his eyes are ocean blue behind stylish glasses, jaw defined, and overall unfair attractiveness.
Richie leaned on the doorframe with a smirk. “You going to stand there and drool over my sexiness or come inside?”
Eddie frowned, shoved past him and into the apartment. “I wasn’t drooling you turd. And you aren’t sexy, you’re a nerd.”
“So what do I owe the pleasure of your company, besides the obvious of enjoying your company always.” Richie plopped down on his couch and patted the seat next to him. Except Eddie didn’t feel like sitting yet. He went over to the record that was playing a Queen song. Richie always had music playing, he could barely go 30 minutes without some kind of sound surrounding him. It was particularly bad in school when he would finish tests quickly then bring out his headphones to try listening to something. Teachers hated it.
“I want to go as each others’ dates for the wedding.” He heard Richie get up from the couch, then a hand came on his shoulder to turn him around. Those blue eyes searched his own greyish-brown ones for a minute. The scrutiny made Eddie feel exposed, so he shrugged him off changing the record to a song by Aretha Franklin. “I’m serious. Whatever it takes for us to go together, I will do it.”
This seemed enough for Richie. “Fuck yes! This will be so fun.”
“It won’t be fun to lie.” Eddie groaned.
Richie ignored this as he said, “We need to plan. It has to be convincing. Some of our friends may not believe us.”
“I told Mike I am gay.” Eddie blurted out. Richie’s eyes widened in shock, which looked huge behind his thick glasses. His big mouth opened in a dumb gaped way, “And he fucking believed me which I feel says something about me that I am not sure I want to tackle at the moment.”
“Oh shit,” Richie laughed and gave an air of completely impressed. “No, you fucking didn’t!”
“Yeah, I fucking DID. He sat there and was proud of me.” Eddie paused. “Richie, do I give off gay vibes?”
“Er…” Richie shifted from one foot to the other, while rubbing the back of his neck. “How should I know?”
“Bowers used to call us faggots all the time…”
“Eds, that was just one of the few words in Bowers’ vocabulary. You can’t possibly take it seriously.”
Eddie studied Richie for a second longer. “You're probably right. I’m overthinking this.”
“Definitely. No more thinking.”
“You do enough lack of thinking for both of us," Eddie stated, to which Richie barked out a laugh. "Ok. What do we do?”
Richie frowned in confusion, “What do we do what?”
“About pretending to date!” Eddie felt small and vulnerable. This situation was not ideal for him, either of them. He couldn’t put his finger on exactly why so many hang-ups were emerging, him and Richie messed with their friends all the time. This felt different, more dangerous, disrespectful maybe or...too real perhaps.
Richie must’ve sensed Eddie was in his head as he slung a long arm around his shoulders leading them to the couch.
“So, first we have to pretend to date,” Richie informed him. This reminder made Eddie grimace. Going as wedding dates was one thing but actively dating would be a challenge. “It’s the only way to convince them it’s genuine and not a trick.”
“Dating to go to one wedding together is risky, Rich. What if you find someone you are actually interested in?”
“Eds, you know my track record is all over the place. I’ve never held a girlfriend for more than a couple of months.”
“You dated Sandy for 3 years and lived with her for 2 and a half.” Eddie stated bitterly.
“Right, blocked Sandy out,” said Richie, obviously lying. He rarely ever brought her up and never talked about why they broke up. Eddie always figured she thought Richie wasn’t mature enough. Whenever the subject of marriage came up, he used to make a joke about them being too young or that she wouldn’t want to marry him. Until one day she stopped him in front of everyone and said she did want to get married so what did he have to say about that. They broke up the next day. Eddie never told Richie he was happy about that break up because he knew it wouldn’t go over well, but Sandy always tried to change Richie. To do that to the most immovable force in Eddie’s life was unforgivable in his book. “Anyway, don’t worry about me. But if you want to date someone within the next year, speak now or forever hold your peace.”
Eddie shook his head aggressively, “Definitely not up to actually dating someone.”
Richie placed his hand over his heart. “Hurtful.”
“Asshole.” Eddie grumbled and poked Richie’s forehead hard.
He rubbed the spot but smiled fondly. “I’ll be your practice subject for your future soulmate.” The sentiment didn’t reach Richie’s eyes. Probably because Richie doesn’t believe in soulmates or something.
“Alright,” Eddie took a deep breath, “Should we make rules?”
Richie ran a hand through his hair making it stick up more. “Like what?”
He fidgeted uncomfortably on the couch, he toed off his shoes, then leaned back bringing his feet up. “Like ‘If we start developing feelings, we end it.’.”
He couldn’t be sure but he swore Richie looked at his lips before saying, “What makes you think we will develop feelings for each other?”
Eddie stared at the small burn in Richie’s couch instead of his eyes. To this day, Beverly has never admitted that the burn is from her leaving a lit cigarette down for too long. Everyone convinced Richie he burned his own couch when drunk and trying to light up a cig. The lie has been going on since college, far too long, so none of the losers can ever tell him. It’s one of the only secrets Eddie keeps from Richie.
He decided to ignore Richie's question saying, "You make up a rule now."
"Er..." Richie thought for a little bit then, "‘Kissing in public to prove it is fine, but not in private’?"
"AND NO TONGUE!" Eddie insisted. "I used to hate when Myra wanted to french kiss. She of all people should know how many germs are in a mouth. More than a toilet!"
"Ya really had a rockin' affair there with Myra the hydra. Didn't ya, Eds." Richie was smirking.
“Also, ‘We cannot tell anyone or any of the losers no matter what’.” said Eddie with a bit of warning tone thrown into his voice.
“I’d be more worried about YOU not being able to tell anyone.” Richie lightly hit Eddie’s leg. “You’re the one who can’t keep a secret for shit.”
“I haven’t told a soul that you were my first kiss at 11!” Eddie argued.
“Yeah, cause it’s embarrassing as fuck. Actually, we can have that be an anecdote now!” Richie said excitedly. “Thank god, that secret was fucking eating me alive.”
Eddie laughed a belly-busting laugh. Richie had this way about him, he could diffuse the most awkward situations. Deciding to do this was about as awkward as it could get with them. When Eddie’s laughter subsided, he asked, “So how did we start dating? This is also weird because it’s going from secret dating to dating. We will need solid stories.”
Richie leaned back on the couch and thought about it for a bit. “Ok. I got it. We can literally blame it on Beverly and Ben. They forced us to bring dates, you come out of the closet to everyone which in turn gets me thinking differently about you. So I make a move and…”
“Why do you get to make the first move? And why do I have to come out of the closet to everyone?!”
“I’m more ambitious than you and you keep fewer secrets, so you have to come out first. Also, you already fake came out to Mike, so the rest should be easy.”
“But I’m bolder in my actions!” Eddie surprised himself with that one. But he was getting to know himself better lately, and one of the things he prided in was taking action when necessary. “Case in point, coming out to people, so I could’ve made the first move!”
“Fine. How about, we both drank too much one night and started making out but have no idea who kissed who first because we both just went at it. Sound good?”
“Yes,” Eddie nodded. “And...um...we didn’t want to tell anyone because we had no idea if it was a one-time thing or like something real.”
Richie bounced a little in his seat enjoying the storytelling. “AND! We didn’t want to ruin the friend dynamic without being sure it worked.”
Eddie’s stomach felt queasy talking about this. He wanted to be excited like Richie, usually, when they schemed he was all in, but this time he wanted to vomit. The stakes were so high. “Perfect. Alright, let's decide who finds out first.”
“Bill should catch us,” Richie suggested. “Everyone will believe him. Also, the look on his dumb face will be beyond fucking worth it.”
“Don’t call Bill dumb, Richie.” Eddie chastised. Richie rolled his eyes, which he let slide. “I agree about him catching us though. He’s most likely to confront the situation too. Ben, Mike, and even Beverly might keep it to themselves.”
“In general, we should drop hints like ‘I think I like someone but I don’t want to say who’ or ‘I’m hooking up with this cutie who has an ass you can slap day and ni…’”
Eddie smacked the side of Richie’s face with his foot, knocking off his glasses, “No jokes about my ass!” Richie hit him in the chest because he couldn’t see Eddie properly. Eddie launched himself toward Richie sitting on his stomach, knocking the air out of him. Eddie grabbed a couch pillow shoving it harshly in Richie’s face. He tried to fling Eddie off but couldn’t get a proper grip on him. He stopped struggling and tapped Eddie’s leg asking to be free.
Eddie paused realizing one flaw in the plan. He removed the pillow, hyper-aware of Richie’s hand still on his thigh but he should probably get used to the touching. “There is only one person I’m super worried about believing us.”
Their eyes met ominously as they said at the same time, “Stanley.”

Just poppin in to say that Chop Top story was 👌 and I’d love to hear a continuation. He’s gotten himself and the reader into quite a mess considering how Drayton reacted to Bubba and Stretch, and now you’ve got me all curious about how they’re gonna get out of it.
((You are very correct. Meeting the family on the first date? Lord knows what he was thinking. AND GUESS WHAT! I saved this bad boy so it’s my 69th post. *smacks lips and looks at the camera* Noice. It’s what Chop would have wanted. Also, I am trying my best to stick to the canon story-line like I did in the first part but like…the canon story-line as is does not allow much wiggle room. I’ve cranked the forced 70’s slang up to 11 so I hope the context clues work. ;P Also, it’s pretty much canon that Chop only listens to shitty “experimental” prog-rock. In any-case, thanks so much to all of y’all who’ve encouraged me to write the sequel as well as write in general. Your support means a lot to me. TW For Drayton being…the way that he is. Most of his dialogue is straight from the script but if that’s upsetting feel free to skip this one. Tagging: @i-cant-get-with-it
From outside, the abandoned theme park was just an empty husk of long-forgotten family trips and worn plastic over a warped metal skeleton. Inside however, the old Texas Battle Land had found a second life as home to some of the most wanted people in Texas. When the youngest members of the Sawyer clan arrived home, it was just as they had left it. Fluorescent lights casting a dull glow over the filthy environment, made even more unpleasant by the ever-present smell of decayed flesh and dried blood.
As they carried the bodies they’d gotten earlier inside, the older of the two stopped his brother before they entered the threshold. “H-Hey Bubba, I, uh, I’m just gonna take this one alright?” he asked, gesturing to the body whose head wasn’t a gross mess of blood and pulp. The younger, Bubba, looked at his brother curiously, and while it was impossible to tell from beneath the mask, his eyes conveyed that he definitely was raising an eyebrow at this behavior. Chop-Top fidgeted under his gaze, “I-I g-got a, er, project I wanna do with it.” Bubba just shook his head and shrugged the limp body off his shoulders, into his brothers arms. He grinned up at Bubba and turned to walk away before quickly whipping back. “W-Wait!” he held onto Bubba’s arm, “Don’t-Don’t tell Drayton about this one, ya dig? He’s joanin’ on us enough already.” Bubba nodded solemnly and he and Chop parted ways down into the labyrinthine tunnels.
…
When you finally woke up, you had no clue where you were. Your first instinct was t scream but you held it back as you tried to analyze your situation. The room was dark and looked like the inside of the Devil’s Shaggin’ Wagon. The walls were lined in colorful, yet dingy carpets and miscellaneous oddities, ranging from bones, to old and blurry Polaroids, to worn and torn band posters, and age-bleached centerfolds of woman and men, naked as they day they were born. After quickly taking in your surroundings, you groggily moved to stand up, but were cut short as you finally took notice of the rope tying you arms and legs to the chair you sat in. You instantly wanted to panic, memories of what happened suddenly flooding back. But you knew that, whoever these people were, you were at their mercy, and it was in your own best interest to just try and play along. Just thinking like that was frying you, but you had to keep it together, or you didn’t have a chance
.After what felt like ages of waiting for a bomb to go off, the door directly across from you opened up to reveal the pale face of the man from the radio station. His glasses and wig were gone revealing an exposed metal plate embedded into his skull, the edges where it met skin were raw and torn, indicating they had not been allowed to heal. He turned to you, and when his eyes met yours his face lit up. “Y-You’re awake! I-uh, well, groovy!” he said, scrambling over to you. He sat beside you, and started messing with your still-trapped hand, picking at the skin and bringing it to his face. If you remembered right, this man mostly responded nicely to you, so he was probably your best option.
“Um, hey man, not-not that I can’t dig it but-either I’m tripping or you’ve got some ‘splaining to do Lucy.”
The man laughed at that and moved away, crossing the room to a shoddy looking record player. “You-You like At-t-tomic Rooster?” the man asked, though the record was in place before you could answer. Distorted keyboarding and some bitchin’ guitar riffs blared through the tinny speakers as the man bared his teeth in a manic grin. “Th-this one’s called Ger-Gershazer,” at that word, he started giggling to himself. Disappointed, you tried again.
“So is this your pad?”
“Damn straight!” the man yelled before more quietly adding, “Well, I-I don’t live alone…But-But I paid for this place!” He pointed at the metal plate, “What I got for this chrome-dome ‘Nam gave me?”“You…you were in Vietnam?”
The man’s eyes got a weird glint to them and his head whipped back in a loud cackle, “NAAAPALM! FIRE IN THE HOLE! The ole’ AGENT O!” He gripped your shoulders tightly, “It’s the dream baby, Nam Land!” You just stared at him in a mix of shock and horror. Before you could respond, from somewhere outside the door, you could make out the sound of a someone yelling. The man’s eyes narrowed and whipped towards the door. “Just-Just w-wait here. Don’t bug out on me now,” he said before bolting out the door. You didn’t bother to mention that you couldn’t even if you wanted to, well, of course you wanted to, it’s just…it doesn’t matter. There’s certainly nothing you can do right now. Worry about your apparent susceptibility to Stockholm Syndrome later.
When the trippy hippie finally returned, he wasn’t alone. “Hey sunshine, he crooned, seemingly having gotten over whatever caused him to freak-out last time, “I got someone I want you to meet…” He gestured to the other person revealing a gnarled old corpse wearing a camo army jacket, and you bit back a scream. The thing was on the rough side of decomposition and looked like a prop from the guy who did Dead of Night. The man broke into a near falsetto and reached the corpses hand out as if it were a puppet, “H-Hi my name’s Nubbins! You’re-You’re a r-r-real f-fox.” Despite the horror of the whole situation, you couldn’t help but let out a chuckle. The man swatted at the corpse and turned to you, with a noticeable pink to his cheeks that wasn’t there before, “J-Just ignore m-my brother. He’s a j-jelly brain.
You decided not to address the obvious taxidermied elephant in the room, “So you two are brothers?”
“Yeah. We’re twins! But I got the good looks.” the man argued. Given the state of the other one, you’d have to agree. “Ya see those pictures on the wall?” You nodded. “Nubbins is the one who took them. He always liked artsy stuff…” he drifted off, lost in thought or perhaps memories, of a happier time you couldn’t picture. You were about to offer some comfort when the door slammed open, revealing the giant from before. “DON’T YOU EVER KNOCK!” the smaller man shrieked, leaping up to try and block the other from you. You heard the masked man mumble indignantly. “SO WHAT IF I DON’T USUALLY CARE!” Despite the hippie’s best efforts the large man pushed past him and was struck dumb when he saw you. He turned to the other and yanked him off to a somewhat separate part of the room. While you couldn’t tell what all they were saying, you could tell it was a heated argument. Before they could return to you, the yelling voice from earlier called for them both and you were left alone again.
…
Drayton was on one again, this time, he was convinced that there was some intruder in the house and had been yelling at the two of them to FIND THEM DAMN IT. Finally Chop-Top and Drayton caught up to where Bubba had some girl cornered at the end of a tunnel. It wasn’t surprising to find a cave-in or a dead-end and end up lost for hours. “What the hell’s going on here?” Drayton looked from Bubba to the young woman, confused and angry, “Bubba, you nap-haired idiot. Get out of here. Who’s this? I get it. Are you the saboteur that’s fucking up our house? Tryin’ to put me out of business? Thousands of dollars lost. You got that kind of money?” “No!” the woman finally responded, and Chop-Top finally recognized that voice.
“It’s the DJ. My faaaaave.”
“That dirty thing?” Drayton sneered, “Told me you boys got her!”
“Well, yeah,” Chop butted in, “Leatherface killed her once already tonight. But look, she’s red-faced. Bubba’s been playing with her. Bubba likes her!” With a exaggerated gasp, he broke into an obnoxious chant, “Bubba’s got a girlfriend. Bubba’s got a girlfriend! Bubba’s got a girlfriend! Bubba’s got a girlfriend!Bubba’s got a girlfriend! Bubba’s got a girl-BLEAH” he jumped and erupted into cackles again.
“Is that what this is, Bubba?” Drayton asked, “The old cock-and-cunt swindle, huh? S-C-E-X. Sex. And you had to find out about it, didn’t you? You just couldn’t leave it alone. If you wanted to know about it so bad, why didn’t you ask me? You wanna know about it? Ask me. Ask me! It’s a swindle, that’s all. So don’t get mixed up in it…”
Bubba grunted angrily and pointed to Chop-Top, who had lost his playful expression. “What are you going on about?” Bubba communicated in his own way what he had seen in Chop and Nubbin’s room. “Cheese-eating fink…” Chop-Top mumbled under his breath. Drayton threw his arms in the air, “Are both of you falling for it! What would Grandpa say!” Bubba hung his head sadly and Chop just rolled his eyes. Drayton sighed, “Alright, Chop-Top, take this one away,” he thumbed towards the DJ and glared at the his second-youngest brother, “Then we’re going to see this little cock-monger of yours!”
…
After a more than awkward first meeting with the eldest of the Sawyer clan in which he called you every name under the sun, you were brought to a large dining table and were sat across from Vanita. She briefly stopped screaming when she saw you and sobbed, realizing the fate she had doomed you and L.G. to. You tried to comfort her but there was only so much you could say over Drayton raggin’ and monologuing his totally square life story. “There’s Grandpa now!” he crowed as the two other Sawyers brought in what appeared to be a decrepit corpse in on a throne like dining chair. As Drayton began rambling again about the man “Grandpa” used to be, you noticed that the thing in the chair wasn’t a corpse at all! “Refracto…” you muttered as you watched the ancient man move, albeit slowly. The man who had captured you, “Chop-Top” you had heard the others call him, kept scrambling around, alternating between taunting Stretch and nuzzling against you. “Get the hammer!” the cook squawked and the hippie scampered off. Drayton ordered them around, yelling to “Just get on with it!” and soon they had a small tub set down in front of the old man.
“Wait, uh,” Chop spoke up, “Maybe we ain’t g-gotta kill ‘em.” He looked nervously back to you, “I mean, at least n-not both of ‘em. Mine ain’t gonna be an-any trouble. A-And I’m the one bankrollin’ this place! I should decide!”Drayton sneered, “I can’t believe both you shit-heads are gonna pussy-out on me at the last minute. You know the country’s in the shitter when a man can’t even rely on his own family! The plight of the American businessman! Quick fucking around and bring them down!” The two younger brothers looked at each other, neither moving. Slowly, the larger one, Bubba, hung his head and starting walking towards Stretch who started screaming again, pleading for him to let her go. You were too scared to scream and could only watch as Vanita was dragged from her chair and made to bear her head over the bucket at Grandpa’s feet. Chop muttered something into your ear about “Not tripping” and “Just letting him handle it.” But something told you it was gonna take a miracle to get you out of here alive.
That miracle came in the form of a disembodied voice singing “Bringing in the Sheaves.” From your position at the table you couldn’t really make out what was happening, but you could hear Drayton talking to someone, apparently some competition in the catering biz? You heard Stretch pitifully say “Lefty…” Wait, wasn’t Lefty the name of the guy you two were waiting at the station for? Before you could even call out to him, everything exploded into chaos. All you could hear was chainsaws revving and the screams and yelling from the whole family. You saw Stretch run past you into the tunnels, Chop-Top hot on her heels. Bubba was chainsaw-dueling with a guy who looked like a love-child of Sheriff Buford T. Justice and Major Kong. Drayton was nowhere to be seen.
In all the excitement, they seemed to have forgotten about you. You seized your chance to escape, wiggling out of the ropes Chop-Top seemed to have purposely tied a little loose.
You made your way through the seemingly endless tunnels, finally making your way outside. As you finally reached the surface, you realized night had turned to day. Exhausted on all levels, you collapsed inside the metal tunnels leading to the main body of the park. You heard the sound of explosions, chainsaws and screaming in the distance, but they barely seemed to break through the daze you were in. You had no idea how long you sat there, but you were suddenly broken out of your stupor by a gangling shadow looming over you.
You looked up, only to see the grinning mug of that crazy Head you just couldn’t seem to lose. He looked more than worse for wear, blood dripping from his neck and a gaping hole in his abdomen. Despite everything he had put you through, you found yourself still feeling pity for him. “Hey, rock b-bunny,” he crowed weakly, “Figured you’d blown this p-pop-stand.” You couldn’t bring yourself to respond, instead leaning in to look over his wound. He brushed you off, “Don’tcha’ know?” He grinned, “Sawyers are like cockroaches, it’ll take more than a lil’ rough stuff and and a wayward Smokey to take us down. Now c’mon.” He held out a hand to help you up, then started off back towards the park, “Let’s go round up the rest of ‘em.” You took one last glance behind you towards the horizon, your freedom, the rest of the life you had always believed you wanted…then turned back and followed your new life into the caverns. Into his, and now your, hell, or perhaps…heaven.

Am/Pm
2 AM - Roger
While not at all the apartment (Y/N) and Roger dreamed of, the sixth floor hotel room was the perfect snapshot of all they wanted. The sign for the bar across the street flashed neon colors and turned signals glowed on the highway. "Did you really need all this stuff?" Roger asks from behind (Y/N). She turns around to find her boyfriend holding the stack of books she brought with her. "Yes," she says without a thought, turning back to the window. Her eyes droop slightly as she makes her way to her and Rogers bed, catching sight of the clock next to the notepad she picks up. 2:30 in the morning. A familiar song comes into her head as she pulls a sheet over her legs and begins scribbling words onto the hotel notepad. Roger walks past the end of the bed, humming quietly and unzipping the small suitcase they Brought. Trying to avoid taking a shower and getting ready to go to sleep. (Y/N) thinks back to the last time she stayed up this late, when she and Roger were clad in denim jackets and her hair was pulled tight on the Side of her head. "Do you want to watch a movie?" (Y/N) asks, quickly wracking her brain for the list of things she and Roger wanted to watch. He shakes his head and jumps into bed next to her, handing her the notebook she had bought the day before at the dollar store. "Why did I buy this?" (Y/n) asks, looking quickly at the cactus on the cover of the notebook before dropping it on the floor, along with the hotel pen and paper already in her lap. Roger shrugs, leaning forward to check the time on the clock.
11 PM- Danny
"Come here you stupid hippie," Danny whispers, putting his hand on (y/n)'s back and watching as she sniffs the lemonade scented candle she holds. She rolls her eyes, remembering a teacher in highschool who affectionately called all her favorite students dirty hippies. "What actually makes a person a hippie? " (y/n) asks, causing Danny to pause and lean against his open bedroom window. "Like, is it someone who does drugs? Is it someone who rallys for free love? What are the criteria to be a hippie?" Danny frowns, shrugs, than climbs out the window onto the roof. "You coming?" (Y/n) nods and follows Danny onto the roof, suddenly sad that she'll never be able to live this moment again. (Y/n) checks her phone quickly, to see what time it is. Only 11:15. They have the whole night ahead of them. As (y/n) lays down, her head on Danny's chest, her Boyfriend begins to point out different stars. Danny begins humming in (y/n)'s ear, but stops when she tenses up. He remembers why the song upsets her. "I have a present for you," Danny whispers, trying to calm (y/n). (Y/n) sits up. Danny turns around and reaches inside, grabbing something from his desk. He hands (y/n) his grey sweatshirt, (y/n)'s favorite item of Danny's wardrobe. "What's this for?" "Happy 11:30 PM." (Y/n) smiles. Happy 11:30.
5 pm- Sonny
The sunset reflected off the lake, making the water glitter and causing (y/n) to reach for her sunglasses. "Can you hand me my cup?" Sonny asks as she turns. (Y/n) slides her sunglasses on and hands her boyfriend his foam cup full of tea, a drink she didn't know he liked until that morning when he ordered it. "I can't believe you like tea" (y/n) whispered as Sonny slurped from his straw. "Especially flavored tea." Sonny shrugged. He set his cup down on the bank of the lake and stood up, walking into it towards the sunset. He waves (y/n) in after him, but she shakes her head, instead walking inside and looking through the picture of clothes on the floor for a shirt to put on over her swimsuit. (Y/n) walks back outside and slips on her shoes. "Let's go get something to eat!" She yells at Sonny. He wades back to the shore and sits down to pull his shoes On as (y/n) pulls her bike out. "What do you want to get?" Sonny asks, biking next to his girlfriend onto the main road. "Take a guess." Sonny rolls his eyes and turns a corner towards a bakery with what his girlfriend calls "The best croissant I've ever had and will ever have in America." "Merci" (y/n) tells Sonny as he exits the bakery with the croissants. "I should write a letter to your French teacher and tell him that you literally will not stop speaking French." (Y/n) checks the time on her phone as she sits down across the picnic table from Sonny. It's 5:07 pm and the lake still blindingly reflects the sunset.
10 AM- Doody
The picnic spot felt perfectly private, despite being immediately next to a parking lot and in clear view of the main road. The soft picnic blanket provided sufficient protection from the still wet grass. It was a beautiful take on their bi-weekly ritual. Every other Saturday, (y/n) and Doody would be the first customers at their favorite bakery when it opened at ten. They would order whatever they wanted and take their food to whatever picnic destination they chose that day. Today, it was a small grassy area right down the street from the bakery where (y/n) listened as Doody played guitar. They discussed all the food things that had happened to them that week, including (y/n) getting a 110 on an algebra test that no one else passed. Occasionally, Doody would put down his guitar to write down song lyrics in the open notebook beside him. The margins of the notebook had been filled with drawings of (y/n)'s favorite flowers, done in pale greens and pinks. Doody took a sip of his coffee before picking up his guitar again, smiling as (y/n) took a bite of her croissant. At twelve, the couple packed up, (y/n) walking to a trash can to throw away the trash from their breakfast as Doody put his notebook and jacket into (y/n)'s bag. They walked past rows of cozy apartment buildings as they left, too expensive to ever dream of living in but too perfect not to dream of.
5 AM- Kenickie
Kenickie drove with his hand on her leg and his foot on the gas. He couldn't sleep, and he knew (y/n) loved late night drives, so they began their adventure. The neon lights of a gas station flashed by as Kenickie sped onto the highway. A dream had woken him up, a dream that wasn't worth writing down to talk about later. He turned the radio on to forget, and (y/n) laughed loudly as Wannabe filled the car. She grabbed Kenickie's arm through his leather jacket and looked seriously at him as she sang along. Kenickie ran his hand through his already messy hair and laughed. He remembered all the times he wasn't with (y/n) when he woke up, and all he could do was call her until he felt better. (Y/n) leaned back against the window and looked at the clock on the dashboard. It was broken, but because even a broken clock is right twice a day, it was also Correct. It was five am. (Y/n) had untied the flannel shirt from her waist and was using it as a blanket, staring out the windshield and smiling.

Alex Karev/ George O’Malley Imagine
Alex Karev/ George O’Malley Imagine 2515 Words Suggestions: Reader is George’s twin sister. Song Shot! Song: Wish You Were Here by Avril Lavigne Requested By: Several Anonymous Disclaimer: I do NOT own Grey’s Anatomy, NOR WISH YOU WERE HERE, Nor YOU!
I can be tough I can be strong But with you It's not like that at all There's a girl That gives a shit Behind this wall You just walked through it
You didn’t wanna believe it was George. Meredith told you there was a John Doe in the ICU. She said it was George. Personally, you thought she was thinking that George hurt himself, that going into the military was a mistake, so you didn’t believe it. When you saw the guy, your thoughts turned. In a second, your mind quickly turned over into fear’s claws as you so hesitantly placed your hand on the ICU glass as Callie went in. Everyone else stood around and watched. The moment she started to cry, your whole world crumbled.
He’s dead, You thought at first.
You stared at him on the ICU bed, repeating those words over and over again your mind.
He’s dead.
You slowly slid down onto your knees and pressed your face against the glass. Callie walked out, only to stare at you, his twin sister, in sorrow. You stared for a few more minutes, while everyone was in silence. You got up on your feet and turned your head. Most of everyone looked at you.
“I’m going home.”
Your voice was dry. Your head was pounding. You walked past everyone, even past Callie, who was trying to grab your arm and reach out to you. You went to the staircase and stared out one of the windows, deciding if you were going to drive or just walk home. Buses and taxis were no longer an option in your brain.
And I remember all those crazy things you said You left them running through my head You're always there, you're everywhere But right now I wish you were here. All those crazy things we did Didn't think about it, just went with it You're always there, you're everywhere But right now I wish you were here
You were paged to Izzie’s room. You got up and sighed.
“Help everyone. Help Izzie,” George’s words echoed in your head.
You headed to Izzie’s room. When you got there, you saw Alex, Izzie, and Callie. You stared at the 3 of them.
“Tell her,” Callie whispered to you.
You looked back at Izzie. Alex gave you a look that said ‘Don’t. Your heart was in your throat. You haven’t really come to terms with it yourself.
“(Y/n)-,” Alex started.
“I’m taking a break,” You breathed, tears slowly slipping out of your eyes.
They all looked at you in shock.
“I’m going on vacation,” You muttered, turning around and heading out.
You saw Bailey in the elevator. She looked at you.
“(Y/n),” She murmured.
You crumbled… Like a cookie, you crumbled. You caved in as you started crying, holding your face in your hands.
“He’s dead,” Your voice cracked.
Damn, Damn, Damn, What I'd do to have you Here, here, here I wish you were here. Damn, Damn, Damn What I'd do to have you Near, near, near I wish you were here.
You were inside Meredith’s house, like always. You’d sit, knees tucked in, watching TV drama’s until you got sick of it. Dr. Webber allowed you to take the next few days or weeks off until you were getting over it in the littlest way possible. You heard Izzie was going to be released, and didn’t care one bit. Your heart hurt, and some part of you wished you didn’t hear that. Occasional people came over other than Meredith or Derek who lived here. You were crashing until you couldn’t crash anymore. You hit your low. You lost your dad a few months ago, now you lost George. He was your other half. You both were outcasts in your family, you both being Doctors, and you being a girl the most compared to your other brothers. You heard the door open, and turned your head and saw Alex.
“Hey,” He muttered, setting his keys on the table.
You looked back at the TV.
“Mer said I could use her keys to get in, so I can talk to you.”
You nodded, not looking back at him.
“So… There’s going to be a merger. We’re merging with Mercy West.”
You nodded again.
“Everyone wants you to keep your job, but you might not get it if you don’t come back.”
You shrugged, not even considering having a job after what happened with George.
“(Y/n), say something. Anything. Tell me what someone can do to help you.”
You looked down slightly. Alex was a good friend of yours, despite the constant feud with George every other while or so. You learned he was going to stick around for a while, might as well get used to it.
“(Y/n)-.”
“I want George… I want him to come back. I want to run to George and ask him what to do… but he isn’t here anymore. My other half. My brother. He isn’t here. He’s gone. He’s dead. I could’ve done something. I could’ve said something, and I didn’t. Instead, I left him be. I just left him be. Now I can’t help but feel down. I want to do something, but I can’t. I don’t know if I can. I want to come back and not see a ghost following me around every corner, taunting me, haunting me with every fiber in its nonexistent body. I want to get up and walk straight in there and say ‘Hello World, I’m back’. But I can’t now, can I?”
After your some-sort of mini-speech, Alex grabbed your shoulders and made you face him.
“Come back. Everyone’s there. Me, Mer, Cristina, Izzie, we’re all there. It’s been 2 weeks. We want you back. I’ve never seen you quit. I’ve seen you take things head on, helping George in the elevator, helping out when Mer drowned, helping out when Izzie was crashing and burning. You’ve done everyone something good. Don’t break that since George is gone.”
You grabbed his collar and growled.
“Don’t you dare say that. I know I helped, that’s what I was born to do. I was born to take the world by the horns and help. Don’t you dare repeat to me what happened in the past year and a half. You’re not the only person who has told me that!”
You were looming over him, his collar in your fist as you gave him an angry look. He smirked.
“Welcome back.”
You let his collar go.
“You can tell everyone I’ll be back tomorrow. Let me ease back into it.”
You walked into the kitchen.
I love The way you are It's who I am Don't have to try hard We always say Say it like it is And the truth Is that I really mi-i-iss
You walked into Seattle Grace with a few things in mind. You entered the doors with a calm look. You shut your eyes as you walked into the elevator, heading to Webber’s office. When you walked in, he said just a few words. ‘Welcome Back, get to work.’ Honestly, it was easier said than done. You walked in and changed into your scrubs. You saw where George’s stuff was at and saw his lab coat. You put yours on and took a deep breath. You were on Bailey’s service today. You arrived in front of her with a plain and simple look.
“I’m ready for whatever you have set for me Dr. Bailey,” You nodded.
She jumped up and looked at you.
“Oh, O’Ma-… (Y/n). Welcome back. How are you,” She asked.
“I want to get through the day, nothing special needed. I’ll whatever easy or hard task you have for me.”
You nodded your head.
“Alright, I have a couple of labs needed for today, can you get them?”
“Yes ma’am.”
You were back.
All those crazy things you said (things you said) You left them running through my head (through my head) You're always there, you're everywhere But right now I wish you were here. All those crazy things we did (things we did) Didn't think about it, just went with it (went with it) You're always there, you're everywhere But right now I wish you were here
After a few weeks of getting comfortable, you already got used to the merger. You didn’t like Mercy West, but you’re going to have to tolerate them eventually.
“So, O’Malley, what are you doing after work?”
It was that one guy that kept trying to hit on you, what was his name? Oh yeah, Charles Percy.
“Don’t call me O’Malley,” You muttered, finishing off the chart you were filling out.
Izzie left, not much to your surprise. George has been dead for a while now, which is what you noticed greatly. It was a tad bit touchy when people called you by your last name.
“You’re Dr. O’Malley, why wouldn’t people call you by your last name?”
You walked away and went to change, with him following you. You rolled your eyes. He kept asking you, even while you were both were in front of everyone in the changing room.
“Because only patients call me Dr. O’Malley, you finally gave him an answer.”
“On a professional level, people would call you O’Malley.”
“No, they wouldn’t,” Meredith shook her head.
“Why? Is she special,” A red haired girl, you knew as Adamson, asked.
“There were 2 O’Malley’s. She’s the younger one,” Cristina pointed out.
“And the other one?”
“Dead,” You said bluntly.
Alex, Meredith, and Cristina stared at you in shock. They knew it was hard for you to say the words Death, George, and O’Malley in the same sentence.
“He was my older brother. He’s dead. Before that, they called him O’Malley and me by my name. Since I don’t like you guys at all, you can call me that. I just won’t listen.”
You gave them a fake smile and put in your shirt and jeans. You grabbed your purse and walked out. Alex jogged to you and grabbed your arm.
“(Y/n)-,” He started.
“I’m okay. I’m alright. They don’t bother me. People who know me will know what to call me.”
He leaned forward and pressed his lips against your forehead.
“If I need to knock some heads in-.”
“You won’t. I’m okay.”
You got into your car and waited. You sat in the driver’s seat, waiting for a song to be called out and acknowledged. You called the radio station every Friday night and requested a certain song to be played. Katy Perry’s Teenage Dream hit the speakers and you drove off.
Damn, Damn, Damn, What I'd do to have you Here, here, here I wish you were here. Damn, Damn, Damn What I'd do to have you Near, near, near I wish you were here.
When you saw Izzie return, you didn’t know how to feel. Part of you just said, move on, and the other part said ‘who cares’. You went with ‘Who cares’.
“He’s moved on Izzie,” Meredith said as you, her, Cristina, and Izzie sat at a cafeteria lunch table.
“I know he has,” Izzie sighed.
Speaking of him, Alex walks up and looks at the 4 of you. You focused on your sandwich, suppressing your crush on the guy since intern year. Another thing that reminded you of George. He told you to confess. You haven’t, and probably never will.
“(Y/n), can we talk,” Alex’s voice rang.
The girls look at you as you looked up in confusion.
“Me? I mean… Me,” You squeaked.
“Yeah, you. C’mon, I don’t have all day.”
You got up and followed him with your sandwich in your hand. You heard Cristina laugh and Izzie asked ‘what’s so funny.’
While away, Cristina was laughing really hard.
“Seriously, what’s so funny,” Izzie asked.
“The reason he’s moved on,” Cristina giggled.
“What?”
“(Y/n) is the reason why he’s moved on from you,” Meredith looked at her.
“(Y/n)? Wait, we’re talking about the same (Y/n) right?”
“Yes, the one he just walked out with.”
“I think he’s going to confess,” Cristina said.
“Of course, he is, he asked me about it this morning.”
“Alright, I’m starting to feel it.”
“Wait, Alex likes (Y/n)? And (Y/n) likes Alex,” Izzie asked.
“To answer your first question, after you left, it became an eye opener for Alex.”
“And to answer your second question, (Y/n) has been in love with Alex since Intern year. Even George said she should confess,” Meredith nodded.
Izzie nodded. The fact that he moved onto you made this even worse.
No, I don't wanna let go I just wanna let you know That I never wanna let go
The constant reminder of George telling you to confess to Alex never left your head, and you didn’t want it to. It was a reminder of his voice. It was a reminder of something he always told you to do.
(Let go, oh, oh)
You didn’t want it to leave you. It was something heartbreaking.
No, I don't wanna let go I just wanna let you know That I never wanna let go
“(Y/n).”
Alex grabbed your attention as you looked up, finished with your sandwich by now.
“What’s up,” You asked, tilting your head to the side.
“I… love you.”
You blinked twice.
“Come again?”
“I love you.”
You stared at him.
“Okay, wait, you love me? As in you love me back?!”
“Wait, love you back?”
“Whoops, I didn’t say that. No, I said love me. Yeah, so, you love me?”
“I’m not brushing off that you said ‘Love me back’. You love me too?”
“Well… Yeah… I do… In a way… Yeah, I really do.”
He had his hands on your shoulders.
(Let go let go let go let go let go let go let go)
“How long?”
“Um-.”
“How long?!”
“Since Intern Year! I wasn’t going to tell you then and surely, I wasn’t going to tell you now or in the future for that matter. You’re just… Ugh. I didn’t want to, and I have my reasons.”
“What reasons?”
“Reasons.”
“Damnit, tell me!”
Damn, Damn, Damn, What I'd do to have you Here, here, here I wish you were here (I wish you were here) Damn, Damn, Damn What I'd do to have you Near, near, near I wish you were here.
“I remember George’s words clearly. He always told me to confess to you, even when he didn’t like you. He’d tell me ‘You should tell him, and brush those feelings aside when he rejects you’. Honestly, to other people, it’s sounds harsh, but it’s George. He cared enough for me to say it then and he would want me to say it now… But I’m afraid I won’t remember his voice. I want to remember his voice.”
Damn, Damn, Damn (Damn) What I'd do to have you Here, here, here (Here) I wish you were here. Damn, Damn, Damn What I'd do to have you Near, near, near I wish you were here.
Alex leans down and kisses you deeply.
“You won’t forget. Okay?”
“Okay.”

Voice Episode 2 Recap “Chapter 2: Two Faced Healer”
After a recap of episode 1 we begin episode 2 with Kang Kwon Joo (Lee Ha Na) telling police detective Moo Jin Hyuk (Jang Hyuk) that the kidnap victim is being held in a barber shop. He doesn’t trust her…yet, but she urges him to. Jin Hyuk realizes that Kwon Joo has been right about other things. He believes the barber shop is strong possibility that matches the kidnap victim’s description of something with color. So, he goes with it and starts to run to the barber shop.
The clock is ticking for our kidnap victim. The 17-year-old girl, who used a dating app and found a psycho, wakes and sees the kidnapper welding a knife.
Jin Hyuk arrives outside the barber shop.
The kidnap victim begs the kidnapper not to kill her. He smiles and asks how she wants to die.
Jin Hyuk requests backup.
The kidnap victim pleads for mercy. The kidnapper tells her he has to go home soon. He promises to make it quick. He raises the hammer. He hits the ground beside her to terrorize her. The victim fights back throwing what she can to slow the kidnapper down. The kidnapper grasps her and slaps her.
Jin Hyuk breaks in the barber shop door. He races up the stairs.
The kidnapper raises the hammer. This time he intends to kill her. Jin Hyuk races into the room and kicks the kidnapper to the ground. Yes, yes, yes!! I am so relieved at this moment. Jin Hyuk asks the kidnap victim if she’s okay. She can only sob in response. The kidnapper lunges for Jin Hyuk. They grapple. Jin Hyuk shoves the kidnapper into a mirror. He orders the kidnap victim to run. When he stares at the kidnap victim he sees his wife imagining what she looked like as her murder terrorized her. Again, he orders the kidnap victim to run. She runs.
Kwon Joo calls for all officers in the vicinity to converge and help Jin Hyuk who is fighting with the kidnapper. She gives the barber shop address.
It’s not a pretty fight.
The kidnap victim runs outside the barber shop. She’s tackled as she runs. It’s the other police officers. Really? They choose to TACKLE a traumatized kidnap victim? She cries the kidnapper is trying to kill Jin Hyuk. His partner informs the emergency call center that he’s heading into the barber shop.
It’s still not a pretty fight. Jin Hyuk ends up submerging the kidnapper in the bathtub of water. He finds bloody items in kidnapper’s bag. He takes the hammer the kidnapper would have used to murder the victim and grabs his head. He tells the kidnapper that he is scum and worthless. His intent is clear, death is the only option for this predator. Kwon Joo tells Jin Hyuk not to kill the kidnapper. She states the dead will never come back. Jin Hyuk stares at the kidnapper. He imagines his wife being bludgeoned by the kettlebell. He raises the hammer. He strikes the tile next to the kidnapper. He drops the hammer. He slides to the ground. His partner rushes into the room followed by the other 2 officers. They radio they’ve captured the kidnapper and Jin Hyuk is okay.
Kwon Joo removes her headset. The police chief and his officer, Jang Kyung Hak, sigh in relief. The kidnapper was captured within “golden time”. Kwon Joo spins and asks if they understand. If the victim dies, they’ve failed. She boldly proclaims her initial case of the Golden Time Team a success. She states she’ll select the other team members on her own. The police chief gives her the latitude to pick her team and 6 months to prove the unit’s worth. The police chief asks how she determined the barber shop was the kidnapper’s location. Kwon Joo states the correlated case file helped and her voice profiling (that she spent 3 years sharpening in the United States). The police chief wishes her success. He and his team leave.
Jin Hyuk’s partner wonders how Kwon Joo determined the barber shop was the kidnapper’s location. Jin Hyuk finds the victim’s phone on the ground. He sees the open line to the emergency call center. Jin Hyuk remembers Kwon Joo’s references to sounds. He wonders “does she hear things we can’t?”
The police chief and his team discuss Kwon Joo. They admit she has tenacity. They note her father died in a hit and run around the same time Jin Hyuk’s wife was killed. They state Kwon Joo maintained that the same man killed her father and Jin Hyuk’s wife. They note the rumor that the defendant’s sponsor paid for her training in the United States. The police chief tells Kyung Hak that because he couldn’t capture the kidnapper in the related case, he’s stuck with granting Kwon Joo what she wants. Kyung Hak apologizes. The police chief orders Kyung Hak to learn why Kwon Joo wants the Golden Time Team and who she wants on her team. He and his team leave. Kyung Hak calls someone.
A reporter details the events of the day. Kyung Hak details the police side of the story to the gaggle of reporters. A reporter asks if the emergency call center played a part when the victim called. Kyung Hak confirms this. He shuts down further questions and puts the kidnapper in the police van for transport. Jin Hyuk and his partner arrive at the police station. The reporters swarm him. He pushes through ignoring their questions.
Jin Hyuk strides through the hallway. Shim Dae Sik (Baek Sung Hyun) catches up and congratulates him on capturing the kidnapper. Jin Hyuk stops and asks Dae Sik if there was a barber shop sign at the end of the hallway, could he hear it? Dae Sik doesn’t understand why he’s asking. Jin Hyuk answers his own question and says he could not hear it either. He strides away. Dae Sik wonders what Kwon Joo said to upset Jin Hyuk.
Jin Hyuk strides to the emergency call center and learns Kwon Joo has gone to the hospital to visit the kidnap victim.
The kidnap victim’s mother thanks Kwon Joo for her help. Kwon Joo says it was the victim’s fortitude that made the difference. The mother sobs that she was too busy working to pay attention to her daughter. The daughter (kidnap victim) chides her mother for coming in her work clothes. Her mother tells Kwon Joo if her daughter had died, she would have been devastated. Kwon Joo tells both women she must return to work. Both women thank her. Kwon Joo gives the victim and meaningful look. The victim, young, scared, but alive due to Kwon Joo’s faith and Jin Hyuk’s apprehension of the kidnapper thanks Kwon Joo. It’s heartfelt and touching. The victim thanks Kwon Joo for believing in her. The kidnap victim hopes whatever Kwon Joo’s mistake was (that Kwon Joo referenced during their exchange during the ordeal) that it gets resolved so she can move on. Kwon Joo thanks her and leaves. Kwon Joo looks good cleaned up. She was kind and relatable with the mother and daughter. I like it.
Kwon Joo waits for the elevator. The doors open and Jin Hyuk is there. She assumes he’s there to see the kidnap victim and starts to tell him where her room is. He looks at her and orders her to follow him. He strides away. After a pause, Kwon Joo follows Jin Hyuk.
Outside Jin Hyuk’s asks Kwon Joo how she determined the barber shop sign was the key to identify the kidnapper’s location. He asks what her magic was. She repeats what she told him, she has hypersensitive hearing. He barks he wants the truth, not her ridiculous claims. Kwon Joo calmly explains she heard the barber pole just like 3 years ago when she heard the killer’s voice and knew it wasn’t the defendant on trial. Dae Sik calls and warns Jin Hyuk not to believe anything Kwon Joo says. He says Kwon Joo knew the location because of the correlated case file which stated the kidnapper was a wanderer. Someone tells me how that indicates the kidnapper’s lair was a barber shop. Jin Hyuk hangs up and laughs in Kwon Joo’s face. He tells her that she solved the crime off the backs of other officers’ work when she read the case file. He asks why she insists the key was hearing the barber shop pole. She tries to explain but he cuts her off. He says if she’s ever felt guilt about him being a single father raising his son, then she must stop pursuing the Golden Time Team. He says her father died while working a hit and run investigation. Jin Hyuk feels bad for her dead father having a daughter that lies. He strides away. Kwon Joo sighs. It’s annoying when someone demands an explanation, the proceeds to cut the explanation short because they think they know the truth. A fine example of anger blowing out the candle of Jin Hyuk’s mind (anger overrides clear thinking).
Dae Sik and Jin Hyuk drink after work and bad mouth the liar Kwon Joo. But then Dae Sik wonders if Kwon Joo is telling the truth. Jin Hyuk tells him to be quiet. Dae Sik says he saw a documentary that if the frontal lobe of the brain is injured, supernatural powers could be developed. I don’t know if that’s a shout out to Beautiful Mind or not. Recall in that series, Jang Hyuk’s character had an injured front lobe which allegedly limited his emotions. Remember that Kwon Joo stated her childhood eye injury caused her to hear the world differently. Jin Hyuk tells Dae Sik not to joke about the possibility. He strides away. Dae Sik pays the checks and goes after Jin Hyuk.
Kwon Joo returns home. She pulls back the curtain and reveal an evidence board that graphically details her father’s accident and Jin Hyuk’s wife’s murder. The reminds me of the evidence board in Remember and also the board of nonverbal correlations in Beautiful Mind. She thinks about Jin Hyuk’s doubt. She sits in a chair and listens to the audio of Jin Hyuk’s wife pleading for her life and the murder’s voice “you shouldn’t have acted up.” She puts her face in her hands and stares at a picture of her and her father. She promises her father she’ll get the culprit and make them pay. With tears in her eyes she asks for her father’s support. Nice moment. Kwon Joo is becoming more human and less machine.
Jin Hyuk thinks about what Kwon Joo told him and Dae Sik’s suggestion that it could be true. He shakes his head denying the possibility. He exits the hospital elevator. From his hospital bed, his son, Dong Woo, watches the reporter identify his father as the police officer that apprehended the kidnapper. He smiles. Jin Hyuk enters the room and smiles at his adorable son. He sits down next to his son’s bed and hears Dong Woo’s praise at how cool he looked on TV. Dong Woo is worried that facial bruise was from the kidnapper. Jin Hyuk downplays it and says it was a scratch from the arrest. He reminds his son that he’s strong. He gives his son a desired toy. Dong Woo declares his father is on a roll. Jin Hyuk boasts that the police can’t do anything without him. Jin Hyuk tells Dong Woo that his birthday is soon. He asks what he wants. Dong Woo says he knows his father is working hard to pay the hospital bills. Dong Woo tells his father he’d like to eat his mother’s cooking. He says he dreamed about her last night and she looked sad. Jin Hyuk reminds his son that he’ll catch the man that hurt his mother. Jin Hyuk gets a call saying he’s been transferred to the Golden Time Team. He’s shocked. I loved the exchange between Jin Hyuk and his son. I’ve noticed in past series that Jang Hyuk gentles around children and looks at them with kindness. I wonder why his son is in the hospital.
Kwon Joo meets with the sweet faced Oh Hyun Ho (Yesung) who claims he can’t join Golden Time Team because he can’t work indoors for long stretches. A cute female officer, Park Eun Soo (Son Eun Seo) sits next to him and apologizes for being late. Kwon Joo tells Hyun Ho that she needs a hacker like him on her team. She tells him he’ll start immediately. Taken aback the Kwon Joo knows about his hacking abilities, he starts to decline. Kwon Joo turns to Eun Soo and tells her that her ability to speak many languages will be utilized at the emergency call center. Eun Soo states she’s not interested as she’s studying to join another team. Kwon Joo says that Eun Soo has the responsibility for her grandmother and sister. She assures both of them that emergency call center is vital. She tells Eun Soo she’ll wait for her acceptance call tomorrow. She tells Hyun Ho he joins the team today. She indicates Officer Cheon will fill him in on the details. The small wave Officer Cheon gives Hyun Ho is cute. As Kwon Joo leaves, Hyun Ho asks if he has a choice. Kwon Joo says it’s either emergency call center or the civil service team. Hyun Ho mutters that he folds easily in the face of aggressive women. He turns to Eun Soo and says she’s beautiful. He asks how to say “you are hot” in Russian. That line is so bad, it’s good! Eun Soo stares at him and warns him to leave her alone before she sues him for harassment. Eun Soo strides away. Officer Cheon asks Kwon Joo if she thinks Eun Soo will join the team. Kwon Joo says it’s up to Eun Soo.
Jin Hyuk calls and demands to know why he’s been transferred to the Golden Time Team. He tells her he’s not interested. He says to stay where she’s at because they are going to talk this out. Kwon Joo says she outranks him and he needs to speak to her with respect. She tells him his desk is now at the serious crime unit. She hangs up on him. Jin Hyuk stares at his phone in disbelief. Dae Sik comes into the hallway and points to the sign above their desks. The sign reads “Golden Time Team, Emergency Dispatcher”. Both men are horrified. Jin Hyuk tries to rip the sign down. Dae Sik informs him that HR states they are stuck on the Golden Time Team for the next 6 months. The serious crime unit team strides in. One of them congratulates them on their new team. Jin Hyuk warns him not to push it, he’s in a bad mood. But the man won’t stop. He says Jin Hyuk’s wife would be livid to learn that he’s working for the woman that let her attacker go free. Jin Hyuk won’t take that and a fight breaks out. Kyung Hak (he must be the serious crime unit’s leader) enters the room and yells at them to break it up. He orders Jin Hyuk to follow him. Jin Hyuk tells Kyung Hak that he wasn’t offered a choice, he must join the Golden Time Team. They yell at each other, neither of them happy with the new situation.
The emergency call center gets a call from a 7-year-old boy claiming to be stabbed. They wonder if it’s a prank. Kwon Joo has the call transferred to her. We see the boy is stabbed. He tells Kwon Joo that his mother tried to kill him by stabbing him. Kwon Joo confirms they haven’t received any prank calls from this number. She sounds the alarm for police support. Jin Hyuk gets on the walk-talkie and tells Kwon Joo his job situation is in a royal mess and she’s got explain why he must be on her team. Impassively Kwon Joo tells Jin Hyuk he either responds to the alarm or he loses his badge. I like her iron grip control! Jin Hyuk tells her to take his badge. Kwon Joo asks if he wants to continue this conversation in this vain while a child potentially dies. Dae Sik tells Jin Hyuk they have to dispatch. Jin Hyuk tries to talk to Kwon Joo but she cuts him off. Frustrated he leaves. Kyung Hak mocks him as he goes. Sarcasm on…what a supportive team the serious crime unit is!
The little boy tells Kwon Joo he can hear his mother searching for him. The mother, with a knife in her hand, calls to her son to come out. The blood drips from the child who admits he’s hiding in the washing machine. Kwon Joo tasks Hyun Ho and Officer Cheon to track the child’s cell phone. She tells the boy to press on the wound. She asks where he lives. He doesn’t know but says he lives in a block of red brick houses. Hyun Ho determines the housing division the boy must live in. Kwon Joo asks the boy if the building or short or tall. The boy answers and says he’s getting sleepy. Kwon Joo tells the boy he can’t fall asleep.
Kwon Joo calls Jin Hyuk and Dae Sik. She informs them the boy’s housing division has been confirms and but he doesn’t know the particulars of where he lives. Dae Sik comments the boy is younger than Dong Woo. The mother searches for her son outside. Her neighbors see her and ask why she doesn’t answer her phone. Realizing her son has the phone she offers a lame excuse. The neighbors say there is a rumor that the mother in 104 beats her son every night. They show her the garbage with bloody clothes. They don’t report this? The mother flees. The enters the apartment and searches for her phone. She calls it but the line is busy. She calls her husband and claims the boy left with the cell phone. She worries they’ll be reported to the police. The boy tells Kwon Joo he needs help.
Jin Hyuk and Dae Sik arrive along with other officers. They don’t know where the boy lives so they divide up to search the group of buildings. Is this like finding a needle in a haystack? Kwon Joo asks the boy if he knows the floor he lives one. He doesn’t. He tells Kwon Joo that the apartment is normally dark and his former friend Jin Gu was nice to him. He says Jin Gu lives with his Grandmother now and doesn’t want to come back. Are these abusive foster parents that take in kids for the money? The boy describes how his mother stabbed him and he pushed her down. He ran into the laundry room with her cell phone. Kwon Joo tells Jin Hyuk and Dae Sik that multiple children have been abused at the apartment.
Jin Hyuk and Dae Sik talk to the complex’s security officer. The neighbors tell them that the child in apartment 104, building 5, reported his mother as an abuser. They show them the trash of bloody items. The security officer says he’s heard children screaming before. And he didn’t report this? Jin Hyuk gets the apartment owners name and tells Kwon Joo the pertinent details. They run to the building.
Kwon Joo tells the boy the officers will be there soon. The boy says he hears the sound of a xylophone when his father comes home. The mother hears the sirens. She sees Jin Hyuk and Dae Sik running near the building. The phone rings. It’s her husband. She tells him the police are searching for her. She freaks out. The boy drops the cell phone. The mother hears the noise. She hangs up. She picks up the bloody knife. She croons to the boy that everything will be fine. The boy cries that his mother knows he is in the apartment. Kwon Joo calls to Jin Hyuk and Dae Sik that mother is approaching. The police data indicates that the mother in 104 building 5 has an 8-year-old son that goes to school. Jin Hyuk and Kwon Joo realize that differs from what the boy on the phone has said. Kwon Joo wonders where he could be. She thinks about the xylophone sound. We see that it is 5 minutes after the incident has been reported.
The police run to the building. Jin Hyuk approaches 104. Kwon Joo wonders what the xylophone sound means. Kwon Joo tells Jin Hyuk that she thinks 104 isn’t the right number. Jin Hyuk tells her they will check out 104. The mother searches for the boy. She enters the laundry room. The boy tenses. She approaches the washing machine. She leaves. Jin Hyuk bursts into 104 and finds a mother disciplining her child. But it’s not the right mother.
The mother returns to the laundry room. She sees the blood dripping from the pipe from the washing machine. Yuck! The mother realizes the boy is there. She croons to him. Creepy! Kwon Joo knows the boy’s time is limited. Jin Hyuk and the police search. The mother opens the washer. She sees the boy. She laughs. Jin Hyuk and Dae Sik stare at the buildings. Which one is the right building? The mother grabs the boy. Yikes!
My Thoughts
The second episode was solid. I’m on board with this series. I typically do not like procedural “crime of the week” shows. But the two cases have gripped me. My heart races as they try and find the victim. Kwon Joo seemed less magical and more managerial this time. It was made clear that she correlated the other case prior to engaging in this one. That helps mitigate a complaint I made after the first episode that Kwon Joo’s putting the pieces together in real time was a stretch. We’ll see how this “real time realization” plays out for this case and future ones. While Jin Hyuk and Dae Sik were not happy to be on the team, Dae Sik was the one that told Jin Hyuk to engage and stop arguing with Kwon Joo. Now I’m wondering if Kyung Hak is the right police officer to be suspicious about. Dae Sik seems to have proved his openness to Kwon Joo’s claims and the team. I also enjoyed the touches of humor the writer sprinkled in the episode. The politics, the personal angst, the cases are all so grim, that any moment of humor is a welcomed break. Isn’t Golden Time Team the worst name ever? It sounds like a team of geriatric officers.
Moo Jin Hyuk (Jang Hyuk) decided that he didn’t believe Kwon Joo’s claim of superhuman hearing. He looks like an idiot for deciding that but anger is controlling him. He is seething at Kwon Joo’s interference with his career and the fact that she’s the reason why his wife’s killer went free. He can’t get over the anger that he’s nursed for 3 years. You can see why he cannot open to Kwon Joo. In Jin Hyuk’s mind, Kwon Joo is the cause his wife’s killer got off free and clear. Who would be open to that person, that single point failure that you’ve blamed for 3 years? Jin Hyuk is smart. If Dae Sik can see the possibility (and that surprised me) then Jin Hyuk must see the possibility eventually. Either that or Kwon Joo will convince him empirically with each case she solves by intuiting sound in a way no other human could. I liked Jin Hyuk’s son. I liked Jin Hyuk’s interaction with his son. Jin Hyuk lives with perpetual anger in his gut. I look forward to him focusing that anger on the right people. My money is on Kyung Hak as a possibility. I still want Jin Hyuk to be more than Kwon Joo’s lackey as she directs him. This episode Jin Hyuk did more independent police work on the scene when he talked to the security guard and the neighbors.
Kang Kwon Joo (Lee Ha Na) created a team that no one wanted to join. I loved the way she calmly and succinctly told Hyun Ho he was on her team. She offered Eun Soo latitude. Why? I look forward to learning Eun Soo’s story. Kwon Joo’s impassive no nonsense manner with Jin Hyuk is impressive. She’s unflappable no matter what he says or how he says it. Her comment in the first episode has stuck with me. She stated Jin Hyuk isn’t ready for her apology. Kwon Joo’s got an apology to give, but she’s right, he’s not ready to hear it. Kwon Joo was sensitive to the kidnap victim and her mother. Kwon Joo was sensitive to the boy. In fact, anyone that hears her interact with the victims must register that Kwon Joo has empathy for the victims. That counts in my book. It must count with others too. If it doesn’t, she has to win them over with actions not words. I am loving Kwon Joo’s impassive straight forward communication style.

NTEB RADIO BIBLE STUDY: Is There A Spirit Behind The COVID-19 Coronavirus Global Panic That Is About To Bring In The New World Order?
What is happening now is unique in our modern global society, and tonight we will ask the question if perhaps the COVID-19 coronavirus panic is actually a cover to bring in the New World Order?
As I sit here writing this article that will bring you tonight’s end times bible study, the headlines from around world are nearly unbelievable in what they are saying. The Times of Israel tells me that the Israeli government okays mass surveillance of Israelis’ phones to curb coronavirus, armed guards in Kentucky are enforcing quarantine at gunpoint, and in New York City, the mayor is calling on President Trump to institute Martial Law to fight COVID-19. In short, the world has gone crazy, and it’s only just getting started. Could all this have something to do with the prophesied New World Order we read about in scripture?
“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” 2 Timothy 1:7 (KJB)
On this episode of Rightly Dividing, we are looking at the last days found in scripture and comparing them to what is happening right now not only here in America, but in other countries around the world as well. Something is not right, we have had many scary bad virus outbreaks but none with the fear and panic that the COVID-19 coronavirus is now generating. There is a spirit at work here, I suspect, and we are going to do our best to see if we can identify who and what is behind that spirit, and how it might be connected with the New World Order.

An event like what we are experiencing now is unique to me in my lifetime, nothing that I can recall is equal to what is happening at the moment. People are panicking, people are afraid, Christians are afraid, and it is disproportionate to the COVID-19 outbreak that is supposedly causing it. People didn’t panic like this over AIDS, or SARS, or Ebola, or Swine Flu, or over anything else at all. What is happening now is unique in our modern global society, and tonight we will ask the question if perhaps the COVID-19 coronavirus panic is actually a cover to bring in the New World Order? This is one show you should not, and indeed cannot miss. We will talk about everything currently propelling this mass frenzy, and it will blow your mind.

Your Generous Donations Make These Live King James Radio Bible Studies Possible!
On our Sunday night radio bible study, we are preaching and teaching the gospel of the grace of God, rightly divided and dispensationally correct, to a truly global audience who is hungry for the word. These programs would not be possible without your generous support. Listen to just a few of the recent comments we have gotten:
“Thank you oh so much for sound teaching. I am so thankful and blessed for clicking on your channel. I have been on your Facebook page since 2011 and never subscribed to you-tube channel until today. I loved the live recording of singing, what a delight to hear the joy of the Lord in the voices of the congregation. So wonderful to hear the part about Luke 12:36, that has made my eyebrows furrow when I read and therefore I have always steadfast to not leaning on my own understanding. May God continue to bless you, your family friends and loved ones. All Glory be to Jesus, my Saviour Redeemer and King, Amen.” Susan Anderson
“Loved this teaching! Presented in a clear contextual manner that was easy to follow along. You connected the dots for me that had previously brought so much confusion, namely the 4th seal covenant, the 5th seal tribulation saints, and the 6th seal 2nd Coming of Christ AFTER the wedding of the Body/Bride of Christ IN HEAVEN. Wow, after 41 years since my being born again by the Holy Spirit in to the Body of Christ, I finally have the answers to end the confusion. What joy and peace has flooded my heart! Thank you for this encouraging teaching of the Word.” SB
“I am from Sri Lanka and listen to the radio Bible study every week.” Nihal Perera
Nothing thrills my soul like teaching the word of God, it is what the Lord called me to do 29 years ago, and Now The End Begins is the vehicle in which I am able to do it. How exciting it is to be able to teach the Bible to tens of thousands of people per year. Like I told you with the first post of 2020, I have dedicated myself now full-time to NTEB, and it is only through your generous support that such a thing is possible.

“Hey NTEB, just wanted to say thank you for the radio show, I am loving it every single one of them. Right now I’m studying the rightly dividing the kingdom of heaven and the kingdom of God. God saved me from a horrible pit and the Holy Spirit lead me to Pastor Charles Lawson many years ago, and now at NTEB. Can’t be more blessed than that.Thank you, Thank you, Thank you……….Jesus. Till He comes…Blessings and Prayers on you.” Alda Kajana
I just want to thank you for the teachings you give every Sunday night on radio. You are such a blessing to me. I absolutely love your way of teaching the scriptures. I don’t have a church where I can have fellowship and teaching, so you have been my teacher for many months now. Thanks God you are there for all of us who have no church to go to. I pray that the Lord will bless you abundantly in your ministry, and your loved ones too. You are such a blessing to me, and many others, in these last days before the rapture. Thank you so much Geoffrey, from the bottom of my heart. May the Lord keep you, until He comes back for us. You are in my prayers.” Donald Godin
“Thank you for the work you are doing brother. Your page and your testimony were a blessing to me this morning as I came across it for the first time. Thank you for the reality of your testimony and what God has done for you in introducing you to Jesus our Lord. God has brought me, in salvation, to Himself as well, through His love and mercy and grace in salvation. How can we praise Him enough? How can we not share this good news!? I pray this day for God’s blessing on your ministry that He may save many souls through the work He has called you to. Isaiah 40:31 (KJV)” Mark and Melissa
“Love the Sunday night bible study. I want to support someone who has the passion for the lost like Geoffrey does and rightly divides the word of God. God bless you.” Teresa Carey
“I give because not many news outlets are brave enough or Godly enough to tell these stories from a Christian’s point of view. I see stories here that will not be seen anywhere else.” William Grayshaw
“It’s hard to find solid biblical teaching in America these days. It’s a blessing to be able to take part in a ministry financially without being concerned about false teaching. All glory to God! God bless!” Maximilian Swan
“I donate because you are reporting the truth about the increasing wickedness of our time, as God’s word foretold. In so doing we are reminded to “Keep looking up” as we wait in joyful hope for the Lord’s coming, Maranatha! ” Anthony Sloane
“Geoffrey has the best End Times News out there. I have been receiving his emails for years now and always enjoy his Sunday night messages although I don’t always think exactly as he thinks. We are all in this “boat of life” together and as I come to the end of my life’s journey here, I am more aware of Jesus’s call for us to be one as He and the Father are One.” Deborah Cleaveland
“I believe in Christ Jesus, my LORD and Savior. I see Mt 24 “ The Days of NOAH “. Happening before our eyes. I think from all the signs, turmoil, godlessness, the Rapture Is at hand.1 Thes 4:16–18. WARN SOMEONE TODAY.” Dwight Shotwell
” I like the way you are promoting the scriptures of the Kingdom Message Baptism of Jesus Christ, as those of Paul in Acts 20: 27-31 Preachers don’t D this !! they make up their own IDEAS and then claim the person has Holy Spirit, WHEN THEY HAVE NOT not ever will !!!! …bye now…” Bara Rodgers

But whatever you do, don’t do nothing. Time is short and we need your help right now. If every one of the 12,882 people on our daily mailing list gave $4.50, we would reach our goal immediately. If every one of our 151,781 followers on Facebook gave $1.00 each, we would reach 300% of our goal. The same goes for our 14.000 followers on Twitter. But sadly, many will not give, so we need the ones who can and who will give to be generous. As generous as possible.
“Thank you very much!” – Geoffrey, editor-in-chief, NTEB

Turning 47: pt. IX
“Rocky Mountain Way”
21 May 2018
Monday morning at the Double Bar “L” farm and I am seeing my folks and aunt off. Before they go, my dad advises wisdom, should any meeting take place. “She probably has a lot more to risk than you, keep this in mind. Are you ready for this?”, he asks. I say that I am, and believe that I am.
One final farewell and my dad climbs into the minivan with my mom and aunt, and utters the phrase that has punctuated the beginning of all the road trips we had as a family, “We’re off like a herd of turtles!”, and they set off on their 12 hr journey back to their small town in Minnesota.
Traveling long distances by car is the way my family has always made their way to far-away destinations. The thought of flying to a place rarely, if ever, enters into the equation. Whether it is too extravagant, modern, or would relinquish the feeling of hands-on control, it is not something that they do. I have this same bug in my system. I love driving hours on end, marathon road trips, like the one I am on. Nature or nurture, I don’t know, but I love it. And for the month following my arrival back to Sweden, my dreams will consistently be of me in a car driving behind the wheel.
The drive ahead of me is not so long, 6-7 hrs, but promises to be dramatic, landscape-wise. But more on that later. For now, I say goodbye to my uncle John, thanking him for all the hospitality, food, and remembering to bring me a knife at meals (after living abroad, I am completely lost eating with solely a fork and fingers. Who knew?).
And I head out, off like a herd of turtles.
My plan is to be in Colorado until Sunday the 27th at the latest. That is the slimmest margin I can afford to return to Minnesota in time to catch my flight back to Göteborg on the 30th. This will give me a week to be in the vicinity should Arla be up to meet, a general sketch I describe to her via email. Whether or not she is game, I will be there. How could I not?
Man, is this part of the country, western Kansas, is beautiful to me. Flat forever on the horizon, semi-trucks barreling by, wide open skies, fields of grain extending as far as the eye can see; corn, wheat, soybeans, alfalfa, sunflowers, rows creating a visual rhythm as I zoom by, cruise control set to 75 mph. Having experienced it all from the backseat growing up makes being behind the wheel all the more enjoyable.
So what would it be like to meet my mother, my birth-mother? I have always pictured the emotion of it overwhelming me, with deep guttural yawps I had never heard before. Over the years here in Sweden, my mother-in-law (now ex-mother-in-law), Eva, has been bent on getting me on this television show, “Spårlöst” (means “without a trace”). The show’s premise is to follow and assist adoptees in Sweden search to find their families. Though I am touched that she would want this, I have absolutely no desire to make my meeting with these mysteries being unveiled a broadcast event. No way, no how. I can only imagine wailing uncontrollably like a buffoon on camera, and this is not how I wanted to be presented to the public. She would return to the idea again and again.
NOW, if a meeting were to happen, it would be in private and, hopefully, in the right conditions.
The only blood relatives I had ever met were my children, August and Esther. There are certain attributes and personality quirks, in both, that I can see come directly from me, (but then, from whom before? I wonder. How deep does this go?). August is lean and goofy, Esther is observant and hilarious. In fact, she is the most naturally funny person I’ve ever known. So quick witted. Years ago, shortly after their mother and I divorced, we were sitting at the dinner table, eating and talking, when August or I said something awkward that stopped the conversation. Esther looked up, as if toward a camera, and said, “We’ll be right back”, as if we were on air. She was 7. I must have laughed for 3 minutes straight. A real watershed moment. August and I share an interest in cars, though his far outpaces mine. We’ll be out and he’ll say, “Dad! Dad! Did you see that?” I’m like, “What?” “That! Over there! It’s a Mazda XBGDHTVFX-3! There are only TWO of those in Sweden! I can’t believe I’m seeing this!” I am excited for him to be starting auto mechanic school in the autumn. So, this is the extent to which I have been in touch with my bloodline, and whatever traits there might be in this shared DNA. What would await?
I cross the Kansas/Colorado state line. The landscape is exactly the same, flat, though a bit more arid and wild. I pull off to the first rest stop a couple miles in. It’s completely vacant; a perfect setting for a scene in a David Lynch production. I skype with Sara, my girlfriend back in Sweden, to just show her the area where I’m standing. Both the US and Colorado state flags are waving strong and proud in the gusting wind. It’s good to talk to her in this unassuming, nearly off-the-grid location. I am wishing she could be with me on this road trip. Skyping is the next best option. Thank you, internet.
I get back on the road, and will stay on this path for the next few hundred miles.
Musically, I alternate between my CD collection (thankfully brought a sleeve from home and purchased dozens at Goodwill back in Chicagoland), and the radio. Now, when you’re on the road, away from your local pre-set channels, you are at the mercy of the strength of the radio signal. You might find a station playing the perfect music or news, only to have it start to crack and fizzle as it loses it’s reach. Then you have to scan for another. I do like it, though, getting to know the culture of a given area via the radio options. During these stretches, one can reliably count on three radio flavors; Country, Christian, and Classic Rock. And you can find multiple versions of only these three, all within the same market. It started me sketching out a song in my head about this.
The miles wear on, the music plays at volume, and I’m singing along heading into the unknown. Then I see them; the Rocky Mountain range peeking up at the horizon. Faintly visible, just a touch of ultra-marine blue, added to copious amounts of white is how I would mix the paint. The feeling of seeing this has never changed since I was a kid, a feeling of power, possibility, adventure, and wonder. I have never gotten over it, and am exhilarated to know this, just this sight, still sends me. Every time I have been to Colorado, I am aware that this is where I came from (because that’s what the birth certificate says). And every time I think, I MUST have family here. This time I know for sure.
I stop to grab a bite to eat and check my messages and social. Arla has replied. She says that circumstances are such that we would not be able to meet this time, but that we most certainly will at some point in the future. Unfazed, I write back to say that there is no pressure, since the revelation of existence has already jumped us from 0-100, but that I will still be staying in Colorado this week if circumstances happen to change. I also emphasize that my being in the states is actually a rare event and that sometimes there is never a best time for things. Sent.
Sandwich and email finished, I celebrate with a strawberry shake and an extra shot of insulin.

You will pass the farm, Double Bar “L”, at 01:35. (Double Bar “L” is the family branding sign, used to brand livestock. It’s a capital L with two bars underneath. )
Below, you can see the Rockies come no into view.
