I’ve actually been considering making my first active forays back into fiction writing again by writing fanfic for Indiana Jones because it’s a fandom I’m into that doesn’t exactly have a shit-ton already but the main idea I’ve got is one that explains why the fuck Indy didn’t adopt Short Round but it is a bitch and a half to actually find information on both Connecticut and New York adoption laws circa 1935 (because that’s where Marshall College and Barnett College are located respectively) but knowing my luck I’d wing it and publish it somewhere and get the one person who knows those laws by heart commenting on how inaccurate I was

#pointless #text #I've got a title and everything #Wayne Lee Jones #because Short Round's canonical birth name is Wan Li and it'd likely get anglicized no matter who in america adopted him #tho there's a line in Temple of Doom that's subtitled as 'you listen to Short Round'#that sounds far more like he says 'you listen to So Wah Mu'#so like the Wan Li name is kind of in that same vague area of canon that everything not in the movies or directly referenced is anyway #but yeah the gist of the idea is Indy actually did intend to adopt Short Round #but wasn't actually able to because he's a single 30-something globetrotting archaeologist #so he ropes his cousin Frank (seen in the Young Indy series) and his wife in New Mexico into adopting Short Round so he can stay in his life #yeah anyway tho this is all pretty pointless was just thinking about it
