Parings: lando norris x gf!reader.
Summary: after the Brazil GP, lando comes home to the worst week of his year. Also, it was his birthday. So even though the world hates him, you wanna make sure he is loved and he did nothing wrong. And that if you could you would set the world on fire for him.

MASTERLIST
Your heart was completely shattered. Your heart was racing to get out of your car at the airport. In exactly 20 minutes your boyfriend will be back home after the worst weekend ever imagined. You couldn't assist the Brazilian GP because of your work schedule. You had a few meetings after Mexico gp. And you felt so guilty about it. You knew lando would be more protected if you were there. At least in the intimacy of you, emotionally speaking. Having someone there for him to hug and to comfort him. to calm his mind. To stop the self hatred you knew it was playing right now in his head.Â
Lando is an overthinker and you get him because you were also one. You knew to which scenarios his mind can travel to and how painful it can be for him to live with himself sometimes. You were fighting your tears reading all of the atrocious things people commented online. You knew that wasn't real life. But you also knew he would see all that and how that would weigh in his heart. They can never let him win. And the worst part was only because it was just him. Other drivers could do or say worse things and everybody would laugh and brush it off. But when it came to Lando, he was a monster, a loser, an arrogant son of a bitch. That hurt deeply. Because in reality lando is the sweetest soul you have ever met. And you knew how vulnerable he could be. Tho you always admired him for that. You always thought that the bravest and strongest people in this world are the ones that admit to need help, the ones that are vulnerable and open about it. In a world this cruel, that was no easy task. But he did time and time again.and he did even knowing how shitty people were gonna be to him. Though, he did it for people he knew that counted on him. Lando always talks about how people sometimes come to him saying he has saved their lives and the impact he had on them. It's something beautiful yet that weighted on his shoulders as well, you thought.Â
You crossed the airport gates. Anxiety shaking your whole body. You wanted to hug him so bad. To tell him everything was gonna be fine.Â
You opened the flight information he sent you before his plane took off so you looked for the probable gate he was coming out of when landed. Even though you were anxious you were also relieved that he was home with you.
After a few minutes passed by, a lot of people started coming out of the door you were waiting for. You started gazing at everyone just to find him. After a bunch of people got out, there he was. One of the last ones to go through the door. When you saw him your body almost came undone. You were out of air for a moment while the two of you got closer. When he is finally within reach, you give him the strongest hug you could. He melted on you, hugging you by your neck. Not much time passed when you heard him crying hid in your neck. Your heart that was shattered, broke immediately. You tighter your grip unto him. He started to sob and you couldn't hold your own tears at that point. You knew he had the worst time on that flight, alone with his cruel thoughts torturing him for hours. And there was nothing that you could do to protect him. You couldn't say a word. There was nothing that you could say that it would make things better right now.Â
Lando was sobbing and shaking. His levels of anxiety reached a high when he saw you standing there looking for him desperately with your eyes. He needed you. But lifeâs a bitch and you couldn't stay with him throughout the whole American leg. He came undone in your arms. He needed to hug you for so long. He was broken. His mind replying to all the mistakes he made. All of his wrong decisions. All of the shit he said. He was embarrassed, angry and defeated. He was ashamed of himself. Disgusted. Frustrated and scared. Â
Yu rubbed his back trying to comfort him in the hug and trying to not cry so you could be the strong one for him. He needed you, you knew it. And you wanted to fix all of this in a snap of fingers, but you couldn't.Â
âItâs okay baby. You are gonna be alright, I promise. I love you. Youâre home now ", Yu said, to make him feel at least slightly better. When he heard you he started sobbing even harder. You let him take all the time he needed. While doing so, you tried to see where you were and how you could, if someone was recording and taking a picture. Fortunately you were almost alone. It was the last flight arriving for today. You feel relieved knowing this won't be used against him by the cruel internet trolls.Â
(...)
The drive home was silent. No music, no speaking. He didn't even look at you the whole ride. He was looking through the window avoiding any contact with society you thought while driving your Audi R8 V10 GT RWD through the illuminated Monaco streets. It was around 9pm. You had cooked for him some home made pasta you knew he adored. You just wanted him to feel better.Â
When you got home, he took his bags to the room with your help. You left his second suitcase next to his wardrobe and saw him lying on the bed.
âI made your fav homemade pasta. Do you want me to bring it here and eat it in bed?â you offered him with a soft voice. He was looking to the ceiling. He did not answer right away, but after a few moments he did.
âI'm not hungry, but thank you. Maybe i'll eat laterâ he said with a deep cracky voice and turned himself in the bed showing you his back. You frowned a bit.Â
He couldn't look at you. He hated that you could see him like this. He was ashamed of himself drawing in self pity and self hatred. He felt he let you down.Â
âAln, did you eat something during the flight at least?â you asked worriedly, walking forward to the bed so you could get closer to him. You sat on the table next to his back looking at him. You didn't want to touch him just because you didn't know if he would want you to. You didn't want to be invasive. You stayed in silence for a few minutes. You understood he didn't eat, that he didn't want to either or speak. So you stood up and let him have his alone time closing the door gently behind your back.
You ate alone that night.in silence just as if you could hear him from your kitchen aisle. The past was really good. You turned off your phone after washing the dishes and tidied the kitchen and living room up. You didn't want to see what social media was saying about your lover before bed. It was already enough scrolling and reading so many people wishing lando to die. That was the hardest part of it all. You left your phone charging on the kitchen counter and went to your shared room. When you entered he was already showered getting into the bed again. You half smiled at him even though he couldn't see you. You put on your pajamas in silence and climbed up the bed. He looked at you while you were getting comfortable next to him.Â
Your eyes met. Any of you said anything. Just looked at each other trying to read each other thought as if that was possible. He licked his dry lips. His eyes turned glassy.
âI messed everything up,â he said almost in a whisper. Your heart is breaking again. You shook your head at him getting closer and bringing him into your chest. You hugged him tightly.
âNo you didnt baby. Sometimes people are just mean, you know? They will interpret things as the wishâ you said softly rubbing his back and arm and caressing his hair gently. He felt a bit better under your frame. He felt protected but as a little kid when missbehaved so now he tries to find comfort. He didn't want to cry.he was trying hard not to let tears stream down his cheeks. You kissed his forehead and made him look at you. âI know you dont wanna talk about it but i love and i am so deeply and entirely proud of youâ you whisper close to his face. You saw him pout and the first tears coming down his face. You hugged him tightly. He hid in your neck and eventually fell asleep. You wanted to set the world on fire for this. You wanted to ruin every single person who says awful things about it. The comments, the media. You wanted to destroy everything and everyone just to protect him. He doesn't deserve this. He is an angel and you can't believe the world could only see the devil in him.Â
Lando tried to sleep but he couldn't. Everytime he closed his eyes, all of the tragic scenes from the race replayed in his mind. How the car felt, the rain, the radio messages, Oscar's voice, comments from his engineer . everything replayed in his head torturing him the worst way possible. He felt like getting down. He felt alone and miserable. He remembered Oscar words replying in his mind over and over again. âYou will eventually make it, mateâ. It was a positive message but he replayed it like a fucking nightmare.Â
What if he never makes it? What if he doesn't have what it takes? What if people are right? What if he is actually a monster and deserves to die? What if he did? Would they like him again or figure him out? Would anyone care about his feelings? Why does it have to be him and not someone else? Why are they all so cruel to him?
He couldn't stop thinking about every single detail about the weekend. He didn't want to celebrate his birthday anymore. He had you there but couldn't look at you. He felt disgusted by himself. He can't control it. He wants to go back into go karts and stop the time when he was actually happy and having fun with his friends. Now that line between friends and enemies is so blurry for him. Max didn't talk to him like before when all of this shit started. He knew Max was really competitive, of course he did, everyone knew it since day 1. But what about their friendship? Lando shit talked, max shit talked. He felt so confused even by his own feelings around this whole shitty situation or championship situation. Whatever you want to call it.Â
(...)
When you woke up the next morning he was gone. You felt kind of confused for a bit. You heard him talking so you guessed he was speaking on the phone. When you got up from bed you walked out the room to find him. When you got closer to the living room you knew he was talking to Max on facetime because you heard his voice.Â
âMorning, guysâ you said, getting into the kitchen for some water to take your thyroid pills. Lando looked at you half-smile.Â
âGood morning babyâ he said as sweetly as he could. You smiled at him. Before coming back to your room to shower and stuff you went and gave him a good morning kiss making Max almost throw up when he saw you in a funny way. You showed him the middle finger and disappeared so he could talk in private with his mate. You respected his place a lot. And i guess thatâs why you understand so much each other.Â
(...)
The following day things got worse. Lando hasn't eaten any meal you prepared for him, didn't even want to have take out or anything. You found him crying in the kitchen and in the garden by the pool of your house. His anxiety was killing him, you knew. The desperation and guilt were eating him alive and you didn't know what to do rather than try to talk and comfort him.
He was sitting on the sofa in the living room. His sight was fixed on the floor without moving. You got alarmed because you knew what was going on. You got close slowly to not trigger him even more. His face was red, his hands sweaty and shaking. You sat on the floor diagonal from him looking at him. Slowly and gently you grabbed his hands trying to capture his brain's attention and get him out of the fog he was in. You were almost sure he was having an anxiety attack and he started because of your touch. You gently rubbed your fingers in his hands. He was out of breath for a moment and you got scared so you tried to do as your therapist told you in case someone you know goes through this.Â
âLan, can you hear me? Try to pay attention to my voice okay? I'm here and I'm with you dull be alrightâ you said really softly trying to make him look at you. You looked for his eyes with your gaze. âItâs not as terrible as you think, baby, I promise. You aren't all of those things people commentâ you used your words carefully. His hands caught your strength and so you reassured him. You saw his pout becoming deeper. You hurt to see him like this. It was so unfair. He doesnt deserve this, god. And he broke. He broke down again. His tears streamed down his face. Sobbing in so much pain. You sat next to him to hug him tightly once more. But now you knew it was worse. He was shaking under your arms.you let him go through this. So he can let go of all of this shit inside him. âI promise lando, you aren't all of those things. People are just mean and cruel. You are a good baby and so talented. Gifted. You have it in you I promise, I can see itâ you tried to comfort him with your words as well, trying to distract your mind from the tragic thought he was dealing with by himself. A few tears fell down your face. It was a hard time. And you were trying to be strong for him.Â
âI'm so stupid I'm sorryâ he sobbed and you shook your head.Â
âNo, Lando, you aren't. I promise okay? Believe me.i know you and you aren't. And this will pass. All the people that know you for real, we love you and we are so proud of you. You had an amazing year. You are fucking fighting a three time world champion, even sooner than he did with lewis back in 2021. Thatâs huge my love. Your dream is near, I just know it. Because I know you, and youâll make it, baby. You didn't let anyone down. You're getting stronger so when you finally make it, all of these moments will make it taste so much better and sweeterâ you explained while rubbing his back. Your words made an effect on him. Heslowly calming down. He didn't want to let you go. He wanted to just stay there in your arms. Where he felt safe and sound. Noone could hurt him there. That was what made him fall for you. You saw him. You knew him. And you care about him. He was finally important for someone for being lando, and not lando norris formula one driver. His past lovers left him feeling confused whether they loved him for him or their idea of him. You came outta nowhere and blew him away. You were brutally honest, no filter yet so gentle and caring with your words. He thought his perfect girl didn't exist but then there was you, listening to him for hours if he needed to. Giving him the best advice and clearing his perspective. Always cheering him up. Cracking jokes so he could distract and feel relaxed. Heknew he was in love with you the moment you offered to give him a ride because he was drunk as well at a new years party. It was normal but the fact that a stranger could do that for him blew his mind. He never admitted afraid people would think itâs weird. But it is what it is. Your smile ended him right there and when you started cracking jokes he didn't want to live in that damn car for the rest of his life. So here you are 4 years later, and you still be the greatest person in the world and the one who knew him the most. He felt your lips on his forehead. For a moment he thought about leaving racing. What if his life was better without it in it? He could go back to Bristol and be with his friends. With you. Maybe start a family and have a normal job so you could spend each day together. He started crying again at that thought. He loved racing but this year was the hardest yet amazing one.Â
He finally calmed down after a few minutes in silence. He looked at you with puppy eyes. You caressed his face gently brushing a few tears falling down still.Â
âWould you be there with me? Could you?â he asked, making you a bit confused. And he noticed. âTo the races. I need you there. Please. To every race and when I become a champion, would you be there with me? You could feel he's scared. You half smiled at him melting as his comment.
âOf course I'll be there, baby. Iâll always be there for and with you. If I could , I would set the whole world on fire just for you. Never doubt it, okay?â he nodded and you pulled him closer to give him so many little kisses around his whole face making him gigle a little.Â
âI love you, y/nâ he said looking at you fondly.
âI love you, lando. Everythingâs gonna be alrightâ you said, assuring him and gave a peck on his lips. âGo have a shower and dress cute im gonna take you out on a date before your birthdayâ you said more lighful to cheer him up and his face lit up.
âReally?â you noddedat him and send him to shower agin funny. Before going with him so yhou both looked facy, you needed to say something to the world. You couldnt stay crossed arms and do nothing about it.Â

You turned off your phone once again. You were already so fed up with it all. Let them talk. You were sure they would choke with their own shit eventually.Â
but continued with the day. Lando was still a little off but he was looking better so maybe he is actually feeling better. You took out to dinner at a restaurant he always dreamed of going to. He was so happy to be there. The food was delicious. It was near the beach though it is colder here so we looked at it through the glass window. You gossip and talk about anything and everything as if everything was alright. And it was a fact it was. Because this is real life. Not social media. A few people stopped you while eating to ask for pictures and Lando said yes every time you even became a photoshoot photographer. Nice people telling him nice things was what he needed right now. Plus, you would never be pissed off by his fans. You were actually grateful for them. Of course, some can be disrespectful but you knew the real one was it. You really embraced Lando's life even though itâs nothing like the life youâd dreamed of to have one day. But he is the boy of your dreams so why would it be a problem.Â
November, 13th
When the clock hit midnight, the restaurant made a cake for him so we all sang him happy birthday. You chose his favorite type of cake. He giggled all nervous and shy. His cheeks red while his eyes showed a little sparkle while watching the candles. He blew them. You recorded the whole thing and took so many pictures. He thanked the staff and staff of the restaurant and they let you enjoy the cake in comfort. Your heart was full to see him a little back again.Â
After The restaurant kicked you out because they needed to close, you decided to do a road trip through the mountains of monaco. You always enjoy a good ride with good music and good company. And you also had sex in the car. You kind of guessed he needed to take his frustrations out somehow because you had the rough sex you really enjoyed. He joked it was his best birthday present making you laugh. He was joking again.Â
âThank youâ he said while gently rubbing your naked chest. You were seated on him. You smiled and leaned for a soft kiss on his lips. You really loved him. And all you wanted for him was happiness and well being. And you would do anything to make sure he is okay.Â
You came back home and had another round of sex. Enjoying yourselves in intimacy. Lando finally fell asleep after a terrible few days, in the calm of your body. His face on your bare chest. You clothed him and fell asleep relieved.

yourusername: What can I say about you? There's no words that can describe your greatness. Or my feelings for you. I'm so grateful you were born on November 13th. 25 years ago my best friend and the love of my life was brought to this world. And sometimes what unfair is that, right? A world that is so cruel to you. A world that doesn't deserve your greatness and kindness nor your attention. You are the greatest son, brother, uncle, friend and lover. Anyone who says otherwise doesn't actually know you. We are all so lucky that you choose us to spend your time on this world with. Thank you for being who you care. For caring about the people you love and making sure we are alright and happy. Thank you for being the light that you are for so many lives. Thank you for being vulnerable. I admire you so much, lan. You are the strongest and bravest human I know. so honest and open. Anyone who says otherwise, actually, doesn't know you. I know this is not the best birthday of your life, but I promise you I'll try to make it better. Thank you for being who you are to me. I promise I see you and I care. You're the love of my life. And I'm so lucky you love me over any other human out there. So happy birthday to the prettiest and most genuine, real, fun, kind, warm person I have the chance to call mine everyday. Hope you have the best day you can have right now. Thatâs the least you deserve. I love you forever bestie. Donât ever change.

So you had a master plan for Lando's birthday. You went to the Hilton hotel for some coffee with Max and Lando of course. We lied and said pietra couldn't make it because she had a meeting and Lando believed. Truth was, you have contacted all of his friends and arregened flights so everyone could make it to Monaco on time. Pietra was the one in your house. You left her a spare key yesterday evening after coffee with alex. You gave her the directions and the idea of what you wanted while you and Max distracted Lando until 7pm, she decorated the house and received all of his friends. Lando had no clue of what was going on but he was so happy it was the second cake you brought to him. You recorded the moment and seeing him smile made your heart melt.Â

When 7pm came around we all âdecidedâ to go to your house and eat pizza for dinner. Lando even said to me that they could do a stream and have fun for a bit. You agreed and all knowing that wasn't gonna happen. The ride home was so much fun. You spent the 20 minute ride screaming a one direction song from the top of your lungs. You sang Lando âthrough the darkâ And he sang âYou and iâ.it was lovely, Max almost threw up when you kissed. Luckily he was driving so he hadn't watched much of your pda.Â
You got out of the car trying to play it cool though you were so nervous. You saw Max texting Pietra that you were close.the lights were off. And silent. Your nervousness took over you when you tried to open the door but let the keys fall nervously. Thankfully Max and Lando were discussing which type of pizza they would order. Finally you opened the door, lando behind you and so you turned on the lights.
Everyone jumped from everywhere saying happy birthday in unison. Yoursmile was so big but when you saw lando his smile was even bigger.
âSurprise!â you said and lando was still processing it. But when his friend started hugging him he started crying out of joy. He thought his friends weren't coming this year because of their busy schedule.but that was a lie you made them tell so lando wouldn suspect anything. Fortunately, they all kept the secret safe. Lando was so happy.Â
You all spent the night playing poker, drinking gin and tonics and surrounded by laughter and love. In the moment, around everybody, you felt lucky to be there. Especially to be in landos life. Everyone was so sweet and good just like him. He deserves the world.
Everyone went home around 2 am. You were exhausted and tipsy at the end of the night. So you put your pajamas on and sled straight on the bed. Lando wrapped his arms around your waist.
âThank you for everything. It was a great birthday. Thank u for always taking care of me always.you make me the happiestâ he said under a whisper looking at you. He looked so gorgeous with that little smile and tired eyes. You stroked his cheek gently, smiling.Â
âYou deserve to be happy darling. You are unstoppable. Better days at work will come,I know.but im grateful that you have so much love surrounding you. I love youâ he smiled widely listening to you and leaned to kiss you with so much feelings and passion. You were the greatest thing that ever happened to him and also the greatest decision he has ever made when he asked you out.

f1gossipofficial: here it is @/yourusername at the McLaren garage ready for fp1 cheering for his 4 year boyfriend @/landonorris! Lando was asked about the whole drama around the Brazil gp and his birthday and her statement and he said âIâm lucky to have her. I would set the world on fire for her. So yeah. We are the same that is why we work so well. It was a great birthday though. She brought my whole group of friend to Monaco for a poker night so yeahâ also he said that if it wasnât for her he wouldâve collapsed on his overthinking but thankfully she was there. We love a power couple on the grid!! What do we think about all of this? #LasVegasGP2024

It was the day. The day you were back to media duties. Back to being a target for social media. Back supporting your boyfriend no matter what. You even went on media day to be there for him if he needed it. You chatted with everyone around to entertain yourself while he was doing interviews.Â
Oscar helped a lot and the whole McLaren team to make Lando feel safe and actually enjoy the weekend. You Were grateful for it. At least they decided not to be dicks in front of his face.Â
Fp1 was about to start and you were proudly there in the garage to cheer on him. You were also anxious because you felt things almost like him and this competition is rather never racking. You kissed him gently but shortly. A good luck kiss before getting into the car. He smiled widely.Â
âGo be the best you can be. Youâre greatâ you told him sweetly.
âI'll try my best to impress you,â he replied, letting go of your hand.Â
âYou already do everyday babeâ you said smiling making him grin before walking into the car to start the first session of the weekend.Â
You watched from there how fp1 unfolded hoping this would be a great weekend.

"Things were just very different after that attack," he explained cautiously, his arms crossing absently in front of him in some quiet attempt to reassure himself. That time was it's own horror but at least he wasn't in for any revelations about it through suddenly accessible memories of it. "I wasn't able to trust anyone in The Program after that, only Samantha and she had her own burdens to bare aside from me." The breaking up of O-Cell had been a shock to the system for the pair of them and just in time for the new way of working to come in too. "I am still very distrusting of other agents, though I try my best not to be." Paranoia brought its own challenges, "another disorder I have earned from working for Delta Green." Though that in particular had been because of Sloane, again though, details.
"She basically set it up, but she speaks to agents who do very foolish things, break the rules or jeopardise themselves and their fellow agents." He said of Samantha, "she's very good at her job and other agents don't know how lucky they are she's there."
Theo managed a short and quiet chuckle that still wasn't quite right but he was at least amused at her agreeing he did indeed lecture her. Surprised that she had been hoping for one and not realising it was because she would see it as a sign of him returning to normal. Though he didn't particularly want to talk about his work for Delta Green he wanted the dangers well known and understood to her but he supposed he could open it to her to ask and that way he could understand what it was that seemed to intrigue her most. "What do you want to know about it? I can't promise to answer but I'll tell you what I can."
Still he was pleased when she revealed that she would be careful about her own security when talking about her travels and would take steps to protect herself. What really delighted him though was the reveal that she no longer wanted to work for Delta Green. The wave of relief that appeared on his face was unmissable and Theo's shoulders that had been so tense for days seemed to relax just a tiny bit more. Her reasoning was both a reassurance and a sadness that she had only needed to understand what Delta Green had done to him to be deterred from joining.
"I am so pleased to hear that," he told her straight and honestly. "I was so worried when you said you wanted to join them, I should have explained it all sooner but... I couldn't." He was still struggling in being honest with her, but he thought as long as he was mindful not to reveal too much he could get away with it, especially with her no longer wanted to be an agent. "You would be right, if they had just asked, I would have agreed. But that method has long been obsolete it is still a questionable organisation in its own right." Threatening and killing agents as it needed to.
đđđđ & đđđđđđ @multipleoccupancy
"Why... why did you stop working together after Sloane's attack?" Violet didn't really know, of course, that they used to be a close-knit cell, and that Sloane's betrayal had left invisible scars on Samantha, too.
"I didn't know Delta Green had an HR department." That seemed very... corporate of them. "What does she do?" It was a relief to know that her dad could call Samantha if needed, as this week was proof that she would be there for him. But it would have been much more reassuring to know she was out there on the field with him. Violet remembered how fiercely Samantha had protected him, in that abandoned parking lot.
She managed a little smile. "I don't mind the lectures," she explained, "in fact, I was kind of hoping you were going to lecture me today." It would have been the final proof that he was feeling better. "But I like this conversation better. What else did you want to tell me? About the Program, and... your work as an agent?" She wanted to know everything he was willing to tell her. It was a part of his life he usually never revealed. And she always worried so much, whenever he left on a "work trip."
Her dad's reassurance widened her smile a little bit, it even brought a slight flush of pink to her cheeks. "Thank you, Dad." But she was still taking his warning very seriously. "I won't tell anyone else," she promised, "and I'll be careful, I won't talk about it on the phone." The last thing she wanted was for people to think she was a cultist, or that she worshipped the Horned One. The thought alone made her nauseous.
"I understand. And... you know, Dad, I don't want to work for them anymore." Violet suddenly realized she hadn't told him yet, until now. "After meetin' Agent Davidson, and seeing what the Program did to you... I don't want to work for an organization like that. I know their goal is noble, but... I don't think the greater good justifies treating people like this. They tricked you and hurt you when they could have just asked you instead. You... you told me you wanted to open a special FBI branch, to fight monsters. I know you would have accepted if they had just asked."

Grasping at straws: Thoughts about Viktor's disability in Arcane
Disclaimer: In this post I try to give it some credit to Arcane writing from within the narrative. This is a Watsonian interpretation, not a Doylist one. Assume that underneath all of this I am beating Riot with LeGuin tomes.
Bootstraps and Denial
We get a glimpse into Viktorâs sense of self while heâs talking Jayce down from the ledge in S1A1E3: He is extending a sense of kinship to Jayce, who has just been stripped of his research equipment and autonomy by the Council when they relegate him to the care of his mother. He also considers the fact that heâs a faculty assistant in Piltover something he worked hard for, that was awarded to him despite his disability and immigrant status. His visible physical disability, accent, name, are all class signifiers that he must reject and dismiss if he wants funding, accommodation and recognition and it points to Piltover only allowing Zaunites as both a PR token and only if they reject enough of their Undercity culture. This is crucial: Viktor did not earn his position because he worked hard and believed in himself, he was rewarded for assimilating.
Becoming a Specimen
All of Viktorâs screentime in S1 takes place in Piltover to the exceptions of his visits to Singed, both in his childhood flashback and his adult visit to request help with the Hexcore experiment. Two things stand out to me in these interactions: The traumatic experience of being valued as a specimen, and the scrambling to the top of the ivory tower as a response to said trauma. He meets Singed and Rio in the immediate aftermath of a fall caused by his legâs angle while he kept track of a device he built, a reminder that it would be the defining feature of his career, not his creations. Rio is shown to him as a lively, yet dying, specimen that must be preserved because it is a mutant, because it is defective and that defect makes her extremely valuable. I can understand how a young Viktor would latch onto the idea of saving something because it is faulty and project, and how finding Rio effectively dead and her body used for profit ended in an understanding that defects are only good if you can exploit them in some way, itâs not you, as a person, that they want. Conceptualizing a Viktor that is dead set on convincing the world that his work is important in and of itself goes through understanding that he sees his visible disability as both a hindrance and a weakness to exploit from the Piltover Academy.
Jayce encourages Viktor to do PR for Hextech with him several times, and right before the Progress Day speech, just as Viktor has had a coughing fit and is sitting down to rest his leg, Viktor says he doesnât want to be seen as his partner, not in front of âthemâ (them being Piltoverâs aristocracy). Viktor sees in Hextech a chance to leave a scientific legacy, and Jayceâs partnership is a way to keep the funds coming without his disability being an issue for investors. He believes in his partnership and Hextech as a joint endeavor between him and Jayce, but he knows what happens when Piltovans see a disabled Zaunite in any position threatening their hegemony. The catch here is that Viktorâs experience with Rio makes it so that this is not so much political awareness, as much as it is an avoidance so hard it loops back to agreeing with the oppressor, just to live a little more, just to make sure the world sees what you did.
When Viktor is diagnosed with Sump disease, a terminal condition caused by overexploitative mining and industrial pollution caused by Piltoverâs factories and production exports, the sequence plays alongside an investor PR campaign from Jayce. Itâs Viktor, who is already disabled, losing his place in the legacy of Hextech because he is dying at the hands of those who made it possible financially. Itâs this Viktor, who sees his hopes of being remembered for his inventions dwindling, desperately going back to Singed and saying âI understand the value of the specimen. If rejecting my personhood buys me time, I will be what they want to see: A cripple, a corrupted Zaunite, a man desperate for power.â
The Hexcore has been trained to heal the subjects itâs used on, but Viktor was the one to train it: He was the one to determine what parts of the subject were considered sicknesses and flaws. To the degree that the Hexcore is, in many ways, a reflection of Viktorâs understanding of disease. It targeting his leg on first deliberate connection is a reflection of intent and desire more than any kind of agency from the device. Sky being used as fuel for the Hexcoreâs learning is a point of contention for Viktor at that point because itâs the meeting point of the specimen and the scientist: Some lives are expendable if it means furthering your goal, and your life is the most expendable one. Are you ready to kill, be killed, for legacy? And Viktor panics because he is back, heâs looking at Rioâs corpse, born and raised for dying. Suicide for him at this point is an out, an unhealthy way of trying to go back to when he still had a choice. He asks Jayce to destroy the Hexcore and let him die because at that point he is still capable of dying without becoming a resource.
The Horror of Bioethics
Season 2 for Viktor is him becoming a specimen: Not a person, but a tool used to pave the road to a goal. In this case, Noxusâ acquisition of Hextech weaponry (which Viktor opposed ethically in Season 1, as he becomes the weapon itself in Season 2). He is resuscitated using the Hexcore against his will, a Hexcore containing both Viktorâs inputs for non-human healing and Skyâs research on applying those principles to the human body. He is a machine trained to heal, and he leaves for Zaun not under Viktorâs orders, but under the maxim to heal. He sees the widespread health issues caused by people that Viktor was bootlicking in Piltover, the direct result of him helping care for Rio until she died and was used to synthesize Shimmer as a drug, and where Viktor avoided his association with Zaun, the Hexcore resorts to the inputted instructions: Fix what we have established is broken. Viktor, who rejected his own disability, who rejected his home, his personal history, taught this thing to target the disabled, to target the poor, to target the sick. It is horrifying. The script presents it as vaguely unsettling but well-intentioned when it is blatant eugenics brought on by the loss of autonomy of a disabled man; the horror of it is not the cult, itâs knowing that all of this healing comes from someone having assimilated emotionally, politically, and physically, into his oppressors. It is not Viktor helping Zaun from the inside, it is Piltoverâs allegedly meritocratic hellscape grafted onto Zaunites.
Who is allowed to be disabled?
Now, Jayceâs journey in the post-Hextech apocalyptic world is shown as a climb up from the Sump into the top of the Hexgatesâ tower, almost reminiscent of Viktorâs journey as he understands it: Youâre in a pit with a broken leg, in pain, hungry, desperate and you climb because itâs that or accepting death. You hope whatever is up there was worth the climb, but itâs a leap of faith. Itâs remarkable, in contrast, how Jayceâs understanding of that climb is shaped by his own socioeconomic background. Viktor reaches the top and is punished for it, Jayce reaches the top and comes to an enlightened understanding. Viktor grows up disabled and is punished for the climb, Jayce acquires a disability during war time and he becomes the scientist-politician-hero. I appreciate how Jayce, upon encountering Viktor, fully armored even in his mind, can see a back brace, a leg brace, strained tendons. But it is also why a terminal illness resulting from Piltoverâs economic chokehold on Zaun is conflated with a visible congenital disability, while they are manifestly not the same: This is a Viktor who got absorbed into Piltoverâs vision of legacy, this is a Jayce who has grown up in it.
Legacy? What legacy?
In his final shot with Jayce as they erase the rune-stone, Viktorâs right leg is curving inwards, implying his femoral anteversion is something that he has finally incorporated into his perception, which was absent in every previous shot of this realm. Viktor's acceptance is for his own body, yes, but also for the consequences of giving up on it and dying.
This story as it is presented to us is a tale of avoiding annihilation through denial of one's limitations. While it's not a story that I enjoy, it is the one we were given. My hope is that through understanding it we can all tell better stories about disabled people.

CRAVE | Joel Miller
SUMMARY: thereâs only one thing that joel craves, and it isnât the mental fucking torture of an overly stubborn twenty-something teasing him âtil heâs blue in the face. and balls.
PAIRING: dbf!joel miller x afab!reader. legal unspecified age gap.
WARNINGS: MINORS DNI, 18+ CONTENT BELOW THE CUT. alcohol consumption. pervy old man joel. readerâs dad (iâve named him sorrrry) is there before joel gets pervy. some religious themes and also descriptions of religion in a negative light (this is MY experience with christianity, if you do not agree then please donât read), no explicit smut but descriptions of what joel wants to do to youuuu so: mentions of piv, cock-riding, oral f!receiving, choking if you squint, dirty talk asf, joel being cocky which leads to his cock being sad and alone. reader is cunty. not proof-read âcus, once again, iâm a lazy bitch and i donât have time for that. enjoy. đ«¶đ»
An end to craving is an end to suffering.
Todayâs last stream of sunlight fulgurates through the branches of your fatherâs prized Texas Ash, hitting perfectly the dime-sized crucifix situated comfortably between two pert tits sheathed in sheer black cotton.
Joel tries not to stare, but itâs impossible. Heâs been watching you all fucking night. Every time you get up, heâs been glued to your ass. Whenever you lean over, Joel canât seem to pry his eyes away from your cleavage. The more heâs been drinking, the more brazen heâs been with his stolen glances.
When your father rambles about some work-related spielâand youâre sitting so innocently across the wayâhe canât help affixing his eyes to the swell of your breasts. Wondering what itâd be like to touch, and grope, and suck on them.
Your mother was right about him. For all of the years that she knew Joel while your parents were together, sheâd always say that he was trouble. A good-for-nothing, splenetic, perverted old-man who was but a bad influence. And you never noticed, never cared. You always thought that he was a great friend, and a stand-up guy.
Until today. Until you saw him scrutinizing your formâin front of your dadâyou had a lot more respect for Joel. But now you realize that your mother was right. He is a perv. Butâfuckâdo you love that.
Youâre not sure what you enjoy moreâdisrespecting your insane Catholic mother, or knowing that Joel is undressing you with his eyesâbut you canât help yourself feeding into his fantasy.
âDaddy?â Your father hums, not entirely bothered by the fact that youâve just interrupted his conversation. He smiles. âDo you want another beer?â
âPlease, hon.â He hands you his empty bottle, mumbling something about how he was going to get himself one and that you donât need to. But you insist.
The blanket over your thighs is being discarded, hiking your dress up with it. Joel gets a glimpse of your lace panties that he likes to imagine you wore just for him, and shifts uncomfortably in his seat.
Bare, supple skin is on display as you get up from the deck chair. You turn to him with a prurient twinkle in your eye, and ask if he wants a drink too. âYeah, another wonât hurt. Iâm already prettyââ he hiccups, âpretty far gone, anyway.â
Dad laughs while you saunter to the cooler and make a big show of bending over, completely unaware of the way Joel is trying to conjure up a plan to get you alone tonight. But thenâŠ
âSame âere, bud.â He laughs before heâs nodding toward Joel. âStay the night, if âya wanna. I mean, youâre in no fit state to driveânone of us areâand I got a spare bedroom.â
His nose scrunches up, as if to decline, before youâre turning around with two unopened beers and a small bottle of wine. Your hand wraps around the neck almost romantically, leaving very little to his imagination.
âYeah, you might as well stay, Miller.â You put down the beers on the table, still holding firmly the Merlot. âIâm stayinâ. I got nowhere to be in the morninâ, and dad bought breakfast stuff.â
Two brown eyes are latched to each of yours, and you feel beads of perspiration roll through the valley of your breasts. Despite the evening cooling down, youâre stifling beneath his unyielding gaze.
âAlright, Iâll stay.â Joel concedes. He takes his can and cracks it open, lifting it up to cheers your father. âSâlong as youâre makinâ me breakfast, Gary.â
Dad salutes and you smile, sinking into the purple cushion with a satisfied hum. You ogle Joel, biting fiercely the skin of your bottom lip. And it doesnât go unnoticed.
Joel swigs his beerâletting your dad drunkenly rambleâand doesnât take his eyes off of you. Wondering how heâs going to make you pay for torturing him like this.
But this hadnât been your intention when Joel showed up to watch the Cowboys v Browns game this afternoon. In fact, him staying past nine oâclock was completely unintentional and if it werenât for your dad pumping him full of Coors and Old Milwaukee, heâd be fast asleep at this very moment.
He supposes that he doesnât mind, being here. Especially because heâs buzzedâstill able to speak and think coherently, which is surprisingâand gets to spend some rare time with you. Even if it is with your dad.
You watch them converseâthe way that friends doâadmiring how patient Joel is with him despite him being a little bit too inebriated for his own good. Heâs the kind of friend that your old man needs; understanding, forbearing. And it baffles you that theyâve not known one another for longer than seven years, but surmise that theyâd definitely be best friends in every other timeline because they just work so well.
But itâs the thought of them being friendsâbrothersâthat urges feelings of unease. Trepidation. Garyâll have a cow if he finds out the way that his so called buddy has been making googly eyes at his little girlâs titties for the last eight hours.
Joel senses the shift in attitudeâyouâre not teasing him nowâand turns the topic of conversation to you. Dad doesnât mind, though. Never minds talking toâor aboutâhis kid.
âWhat made you stay in with us oldies tonight, huh?â
Wine is being swiveled around the glass before you take it back in one swig. A grimace flits over your features, but they both catch it.
âDidnât feel like hittinâ the bars.â Candidly, you say. Itâs refreshing. âCanât be dealinâ with pervy old men tryna touch me.â
Less refreshing.
Joelâs blood runs cold, and you smirk. He swallows thickly the liquid acrimony bubbling from the chasms of his throat. He wants to screw that stupid grin off of your faceâstuff his cock straight between those plush lips and throat fuck you âtil youâre crying and gasping for air.
He just nods instead of saying anything.
âIâll kill anyone that touches you.â Dad says, not sensing Joelâs sudden frigid state. âSeriously. âSpecially if itâs an old fuckinâ degenerate assholeââ
âAlright, Gary.â You halt the hate train, pouring the last few dregs of wine into your glass. âNo need to get all protective. No old coot is cominâ anywhere near me.â
You look directly at Joel when you say; âold men canât do what guys my age can, anyway.â
Dad grimaces. Joel scoffs. You canât help smiling, feeling very proud of yourself.
âYâknow, youâre still my kid? And hearing this shit is nasty.â Your father tells you around a burp, and realizes that this might be the time to call it a night.
Heâs never been able to handle his alcohol, especially after being married to your psychotic beer-loathing, hymn-signing, prayer-group-leading, holier-than-though moronic fucking mother.
He lets himself get too drunk too fast, now. Ever since she went back to Kansasâwhich was totally code for I fucked the priest and got extradited from the churchâheâs really let his hair down, and youâd be lying if you said this version of your old man wasnât the very best. Because heâs living his life the way that he wants to, now.
Itâs nice.
âIt might be nasty, but âleast you donât have to worry about me bringing home a man your age. Or even worse; older.â
Gary gets to his feetâknees clicking and cracking as he does soâand nods. ââSpose thatâs true, kid.â
Joel. Is. So. Fucking. Pissed.
As you say your goodnightsâand put on a few lights so that your dad doesnât trip over his own feetâJoel is mentally counting down the minutes until he gets you alone on this damn patio. Heâs determined to make you regret the few little comments that youâve made tonight.
âDonât stay up too late. Yâknow how cranky âya get with no sleep.â Dad reminds you. âYou too, Miller.â
You hum your response, lifting your empty glass and indicating that youâll be retiring to your room soon, too.
âNight dad.â
âNight, pumpkin.â He turns to Joel. âMake sure she ainât up too late.â
He nods and shifts his gaze to you, eyes darkening. âYessir. Iâll put her to sleep.â
Your father grunts and slides the patio door to close. Leaving his daughter and best friend alone together might be the biggest mistake that heâs ever going to make.
Joel watches him intently behind the glass door, heeding him stumble across the tile. He might be about to rearrange your guts, but he at least wants to be courteous.
Your legs squeeze together, for the only sound you hear is the reverberation of Joelâs Iâll put her to sleep in that sexy, beer-slick tone.
He sees it.
âShe makinâ âya squirm?â
You blink at him. âI beg your pardon?â
âYour pussy.â Joelâas candid as everâelaborates. âIs she flutterinâ âcus âa me?â
The fallout of a chemical bomb would be much more appealing than having to look Joel in the eye after such a lewd statement.
âDonât worry if so. I have that effect on the ladies.â
âMakinâ yourself sound like a slut, Miller.â Coolly, you respond. Your hand is reaching for a can of beer, twining fingertips around the base while another pulls the tab.
Two eyes screw shut when a spritz of alcohol is flushing over your face, neck and chest. Droplets of Bud trickle between those perfect tits that Joelâs eyes have almost burned fucking holes into; forcing even the horniest man on planet earth to render himself utterly speechless.
You trail a finger through the valley of your breasts, collecting the sticky liquid before youâre putting it straight into your mouth; sucking it clean. Your eyes are locked on Joelâs.
âWhat? Cat got your tongue?â
Slowly, he shakes his head. The sight before him is truly one to behold; his friendâs sweet daughter with her fingers between her tits out in the patio. Nobodyâd ever believe him if he told them this. Joel probably wouldnât even fucking believe himself.
âYouâd like that, wouldnât âya?â Is what he says in response. Heâs quick witted, youâll give him that. âMy tongue stuck in your pretty little pussyââ
Heat flashes over you.
âYouâre fucking vile.â
âAinât that the way itâs meantâa be?â He lurches forward, and your eyes travel to the small opening of his shirtâs midsection that highlights perfectly the fact that he hasnât a base layer beneath the flannel.
You see a small patch of hair; brown, and gray and seems a little fuzzy. Itâs a sudden reminder that this man is a smidge too old for you. But you canât find it in yourself to care very much.
âDonât think so.â Trying to out-douche him, you respond. Joelâs thick fingers are twined together, hands resting over the peaks of his knees. âThink youre meantâa have some kinda respect for me. Yâknow, as my dadâs buddy, ân all.â
Joel snorts a laugh.
âIâd have respect for âya, but the way that peachy fuckinâ ass was in the air when âya bent over the cooler tells me that daddyâs âlil girl is more of a slut than me.â
Your jaw rolls. Reaction: gauged.
He inches nearer to you; slimy grin plastered across rough, rugged features. âOnly pullinâ your leg, hon. I know youâre no slut. Too much of a prissy bitchââ
âOh, really?â Irked, you spit.
Joel nods. Pushing at your buttons has never been much of a difficult feat. Itâs something that he quite enjoys, actually.
âMhm, yeah.â The man is leaning backwards in his chair, now. Arms folded behind his head; hands pressed against his dark curls. âGonna have to prove that you ainât like your mama.â
Your blood boils. And then it runs cold.
âDonât gotta prove shit to you.â You defend. Very defensively.
âNo, thatâs right. Donât gotta do nothinâ, kiddo.â
You see the outline of his dick as it stiffens within the confines of his dark, navy-denim jeans. Heâs actually getting off on this.
âUnless you want toââ
âNah, Iâm good.â Youâre leaning back, now, lifting your legs to sit criss cross applesauce. The barely-covering-your-crotch sheer fabric of your thong catches his eye; a glint of something wicked flickers through them as he clears his throat.
If youâre playing the long game, then so is he. He can out-stubborn anybody.
âSo Iâve heard.â He jabs, insinuating that youâre a prude. Again. âCan prove âem all wrong, if âya wanna.â
Itâs killing him, this. Itâs torture. But heâs strong. Ish.
You shake your head, reaching for your almost-empty can of beer. Youâre taking another long pull, making a dramatic show of tilting your head back and puffing out your chest as you do so. His lips purse.
âIâm good.â You tell him again with a syrupy smile. âRather we just talk. Yâknowâbe civilized, ân all.â
His arms are moving to the sides of his deck chair, now. Joelâs tongue runs along his bottom lip. He gives a quick bob of his head.
âYeah, we can talk.â His eyes zone in on your pussy; the engorged wet patch situated on the part of fabric that kind-of clothes your cunt. His mouth waters. âBut whatâll we talk about, baby girl?â
Another surge of pleasure oozes out from between your thighs, turning what was once a purple thong into a jet-black one. Joel doesnât mind, though. The sight is sweet; itâs prurient, in some sick way.
âHm.â You pretend to think, all the while spreading your legs a little bit more. He sees perfectly the outline of your folds as fabric hugs and highlights the inner workings of your beautiful anatomy. âWhy donât we start with what youâre thinkinâ about, Mr. Miller?â
A weakness of his, that is. You referring to him as Mr. Miller has always gotten him hot. Itâs innocent, almost. Itâs like thatâd been engrained into your brain by the god-fearing fruit-loop that brought you up, and you canât quit saying it in these situations.
âOh, doll. Not sure youâll wanna hear what Iâm thinkinâ of.â His tone is rough, now. Like 180 grit sandpaper against the wooden walls inside of your fucking brain. You hum.
Mentally, Joelâs cock is spearing open the tight hole between your legs; making you scream his name. Heâs thrusting his prick up into your cervix while you ride him like heâs the last cowboy on earth, desperate to feel a kind of pleasure that no man your age could ever bestow upon you.
In his head, heâs picturing your crucifix dangling in his face while youâre pleasuring yourself on his length; glistening with sweat, and cum, and Sierra Nevada. Howling at his girth, speechless at the size of him.
He wants nothing more than to wrap a hand around the base of your throat and fuck you into next week; feeling damp walls contract and seize around his cockâ
âNo.â You snap him back to reality; halting his train of thought. âNo, you can tell me. Iâm a big girl, I can take it.â
Oh, Iâm fuckinâ sure she can.
âFine.â He clears his throat. âJust thinkinâ of stufinâ that warm âlil cunt with my big âol cock, âsâall.â
âOh, is that all?â Your tone is teasing.
Joel does not like to be teased.
âIf youâd shut your fuckinâ mouth, Iâd be able to finish.â
In a moment of pure, unapologetic submission, you nod. The skin of your bottom lip is getting fucking gnawed at by your teeth in an attempt to conceal a moan.
It works. Kind of.
âWhat was I sayinââŠâ He strives to recall his last few words; and then he remembers. âOh, yeah. Stretchinâ out that cute pussy âa yours.â
That cute pussy âa yours, is twitching. Fuck that, itâs pulsating.
âAnd youâre so sure of that? You being able to stretch me out, I mean.â
âDead sure, angel face.â He quips. âI know for a damn fact that youâd be havinâ trouble takinâ my fat cock all in one go; be cryinâ for everyone to hear.â
Through long, thick lashes, you stare at him.
âYouâd be seeinâ stars; and not just the ones above us right now.â
You look up to the sky and hope to alleviate some of the mental pain being bestowed upon you right now. Which is entirely your own doing, of course.
Joel shifts in his seat so that heâs a little bit more sunken, able to heed clearly the sickly sweetness blanketing the chair youâre on.
âIâll eat your pussy, too.â
Your attention is snapped back down to Joel, now. Your brows raise.
âSuck your soul right out from between your legs.â
âOh, Joel.â You moan, a little. He lets his eyes shut for a brief moment, only to open them again to find you taking off your panties.
Itâs like Christmas fucking day, this.
âIâd love for you to take me right here; fill me up on one âa the sunloungers.â Youâre getting off your chair, and Joelâs heart is starting to pound within the chasms of his chest.
Thump. Thump. Thump.
Youâre walking toward him; thong in hand. Fingers wreathed through soaked purple cotton.
âCanât think of anything thatâll bring me more pleasure than you fuckinâ me âtil Iâm crying. Or gasping for air.â
âYou ân me both, beautiful.â
You smile. You give Joel your underwear, before youâre running your fingers through his hair and heâs letting a hand glide up the meat of your thigh and beneath your skirt.
âJust a shame, ainât it.â
âWhatâs a shame, sugar?â
The feeling of his fingertipsâcalloused and covered in rough skinâis almost orgasmic. But youâre stronger than what he is. So you pull yourself away from his hold, and begin to feel an unwavering sense of need. You shirk it, though.
Youâre leaning into him now, breasts pressed against his shoulder, lips touching the shell of his ear. Goosebumps prickle over his neck and you assume that theyâre making their way down south, too.
âHuh?â He says to get your attention, for you still havenât answered. âWhatâs a shame?â
Fingertips trace over broad shoulders enveloped in soft, warm flannel. Youâre leaning closer; hot breath on his skin. Your lips part to whisper:
âIf daddy ever found out about this, heâd kill âya.â
âBabyââ
Youâre taking the panties from his hand, and tucking them into the breast pocket of his shirt. Fighting a blushâfeeling very proud of yourselfâyour face remains straight.
You tap at his chest and walk away, but not before throwing a ânight, Millerâ over your shoulder.
Joel looks down at the ground, presently wallowing in some sort of self-pity. But then remembers the visible effect that his words hadâand the way he looked atâyou, and he canât fight the stupid fucking grin pushing its way onto his face.
He mightâve just experienced blue-balls at his big age, but to see you submit to his gaze was absolutely worth it.
He just hopes youâll never tell a soul about his dirty-talk. He has a reputation to uphold, these days.

What do I have to do to get some filthy Nico thoughts this morning? Xoxo
not much, honestly
was thinking about how absolutely rabid heâd be after that canes game, all high on winning. but unfortunately for him, youâd be out of service for a few more days, mother nature having paid you a visit a couple of days ago. of course youâd help him out, giving him a nice, long, treat on your knees to reward him for the victory, but he wouldnât be satisfied until he could have all of you.
heâd be such a little menace about it too. snaking his arms around you while youâre in front of the mirror, doing your hair, letting them rest dangerously low on your waist. little smacks to your ass anytime you pass by him. waking you up in the morning by rutting his morning semi against your ass.
and when the two of you are out in public? god, heâs almost worse than when youâre at home. drinks with the guys turned into you being trapped in the booth, nicoâs hand resting high on your thigh, fingers brushing you over your underwear. you knew wearing this dress was risky, especially with how heâs been the last couple days, but you figured since you would be out with the guys heâd be on his best behavior. but of course you were wrong. his long pinky makes long, drawn out circles on your barely covered clit, working you up continuously just to casually slide his hand away. only to do it all over again every ten minutes.
then, when you came to visit him at the rink for lunch, he was dragging you into a random corner, kissing you like he was trying to take all of the oxygen from your body. his heavy frame pinning you against the smooth wall of whatever deserted hallway you were in. he knew you were close to being his again, having his own tracker app on his phone for your cycle. which also means he knew you were in the stage where you were becoming increasingly more desperate and horny as the hours ticked by.
ânicoâŠnot here. please. you know we canât. just another day or so,â youâd pant out, so close to just letting him have his way with you anyways. his response would be a hand coming up to cup over your sex, digging the palm of his hand into your clothed clit. âjust think of everything you couldâve had already. all the fun youâve missed out on, caused me to miss out onâ he whispers gruffly in your ear, biting the sensitive skin there. âdonât you think i finally deserve my reward for having such a good game the other night?â
you let out a harsh gasp, the sight of your open mouth and perfect tongue poking out combined with your wild eyes nearly enough to make him start ripping clothes off right here, not a care in the world if anyone would see the two of you or not. he brings a hand up to pinch your bottom lip between his fingers, pulling the skin out. he has the urge to do something he never has before, which is letting a dribble of spit drop directly from his mouth into the small pocket created by your outstretched bottom lip.
he watches your pupils dilate in surprise, releasing your skin so it snaps back into place. he looks down at your throat, watching you swallow the saliva he just transferred to you. he smirks, knowing by the look on your face, and clench of your thighs, heâs almost got you.
you hear footsteps approaching the two of you, straightening up and pushing nico away from you only slightly, not wanting to get caught in a compromising position in his workplace. an equipment manager rounds the corner, looking up when he notices the two of you and waves.
âhey cap! got that new stick in you were wanting! on my way to go pick it up now, actually. meet me out on the ice?â he waves in greeting, cheery attitude showing heâs excited about the delivery.
âsure thing! see you out there in a few!â nico responds just as enthusiastically, a stark contrast from his demeanor mere seconds ago. you both watch the man retreat down the hallway, having given you a small wave of goodbye, which you returned.
âokay wellâŠiâllâŠuhâŠsee you at home, yeah?â you clear your throat, hardly able to concentrate on the words youâre speaking.
âmhmm. see you in a bit,â he places a kiss to your forehead, backing away from your still stunned figure. âoh! and stop by the kitchen on your way out. grab a water, you seem a littleâŠthirsty,â he smirks at you as he walks backwards, teasing you for just how quick you were to accept and swallow his spittle moments ago.
that night when he returned home, he couldnât find you anywhere. you werenât in the living room on the couch, in the small kitchen, in the bedroom. when he called out your name you emerged from the shared walk in closet, clad in his favorite lingerie set of yours.
âgood news, neeks,â is all you managed to get out before he was stomping towards you, backing you against the floor-to-ceiling shelving of the closet. a few shoes dropped off the shelf at the force of his actions, but that was the least of your worries right now. you could fix them in the morning, considering the two of you never managed to leave the space the whole night, waking up on the carpeted floor to his soft snores, one of his suit jackets draped over your naked body as a makeshift blanket.

I completely agree with this. I feel like this is one of the worst parts about Veilguard. My Inky is in the South, and while I firmly believe Orlais is the devil, it's very weird that Tevinter is just super chill about my elf Rook when my elf Inky had constant micro-aggressions as well as just out and out slurs hurled at her. Also I'm going on a rant about Mythal.
SPOILERS BELOW
Bellara also seems to just...kind of ignore that I'm an elf? Davrin makes more sense. He left his clan and joined the Wardens because he just didn't really vibe with the Dalish. He'd think of himself as a Warden first, I think. Wardens don't seem to give much of a shit about your race or religion or sexuality or whatever. In The Calling, they canonically don't give a fuck about the gay couple in their little group, or that Fiona is a mage and an elf. Absolutely irrelevant. So Davrin could start to fall into that mindset because frankly, it's a nice way to live. It's just not real outside the Wardens.
So when Bellara is like oh my god our gods are evil and Davrin is like eh, fuck 'em, that's actually about the most realistic reaction we've got re: elves. Davrin is just out here like yo I'm a little busy saving the world fuck them gods. Love Davrin.
Also, in Inquisition, there's concern that knowing Corypheus's artifact is Elvhen will cause violence against elves. So knowing it's the Elvhen gods causing all of this? The consequences of that, even if an elf Rook saves the world, should be looming for a Shadow Dragon in particular. Clearly Inquisitor Ameridan's race did nothing for the elves of Orlais. It was covered up over time. His sacrifice meant nothing to the humans. This should make Solas's plans to restore the elves much, much more tempting.
The way the Crows were presented REALLY bothered me as well as someone who romanced Zev. The Crows *tortured* him, sexually assaulted him, made him feel worthless, because it was seen as necessary. Sure, Lucanis being blood family might give him a very different perspective and experience, but Jacobus is just allowed to be a Crow and start his own house when he wouldn't kill? I mean, I totally agree that prolonged, public shaming and imprisonment is worse for this individual, but like.... That's not how the Crows work. They kill stuff for money. Sure, they run Antiva and would be pretty pissed off about the Antaam taking their territory I'm sure, and they might work with Rook since Rook helped Lucanis and he's a big deal to the First Talon. But like... It should be a hard choice to work with them for Shadow Dragon Rook, because SLAVERY.
I feel like the pullback on slavery is to make Solas's actions seem more ambiguous, and to make it seem like there was some equal power between him and Mythal. But I have a very hard time believing he was never Mythal's slave. Also, a spirit of BENEVOLENCE? Get ABSOLUTELY fucked. She was fine with SLAVERY. Thought she could just slowly phase it out, maybe. Yeah, no .
Because here's the thing: slavery is evil. Whatever you have to do to stop slavery, short of participating or killing slaves, is pretty easy to justify. Maybe I'm just John Brown-pilled from living in Kansas a good chunk of my life, but killing slavers and slave owners and freeing slaves is MORALLY CORRECT. FULL STOP. A "kind" master is still a master. Sure, you can give them a chance to free their slaves and make reparations first, but waiting to vote slavery out didn't work. The US had to go to war. Haiti had to rebel (and give basically all its GDP to France for like two hundred years. Fuck Orlais AND France).
The only reason my Inky was able to befriend Dorian, at first, was their shared trauma in going to the future. That changes people (that whole quest fucked me up the first time I did it) and I think my elf Inky was looking for reasons to trust Dorian and ignore the system he participated in. She didn't have to see it so it seemed less real. He's an altus so he doesn't own the estate. He seems open to other opinions! And some part of him knows it's wrong, or he wouldn't be so awkward upon talking to Inky the first time.
But Solas's inherent and never fully overcome distrust of Dorian isn't wrong. Solas needs to see action; words aren't enough. I don't blame him.
This is the same softening we saw of the Templars in DA2 and Inquisition, but if you read The Stolen Throne and The Calling and play DAO, it's very clear that mages are oppressed by the Chantry and live in horrible conditions. The ones in Lake Calenhad are described as pale and kinda sickly looking (or something like that) because they don't get any fucking sunlight. Fiona is happy to go to the circle at first because she was a SLAVE in Orlais (Honestly Loghain's hatred of Orlais is justified even though his actions aren't). If you decide to allow the right of annulment or whatever in DAO, Zevran calls it genocide. Zevran isn't one to mince words. He doesn't pretend he isn't a killer or that he wasn't tortured.
My Inky and my Rook are both 'no gods no masters' types, which is why I think clan Lavellan sent their First on a risky mission supposedly by herself (got real sick of her shit lol). As a result, she heavily sympathizes with Solas's cause, and would have happily joined him in bringing down the Veil if he'd just agreed to spend time making sure as few people died as possible, particularly after she meets the Avvar and sees how spirits really are. She knows Solas better than anyone, and even without a full explanation, she'd know that his reasons for doing this were morally right. He freed her people. He never meant to hurt them. He can't live with his guilt. Inky (who in my game was more like 30 because I don't think she could have made decisions or led on her own at 20, nor would she have been a studied enough mage) wants freedom for everyone. She's chaotic good.
Rook is a Shadow Dragon who killed slavers a little too hard for an organization dedicated to killing slavers (based Rook). They're also chaotic good, and a bit of an idiot, bless them, who kinda sees everything as a nail because they have a hammer. They see slavery, they fight it. Fuck the consequences. Solas did the same.
So why is Rook not bringing up slavery a lot? Why is Rook only finding out that Solas freed slaves on the regular at the beginning of the game? Did Varric just decide that wasn't worth bringing up to a person whose entire life revolves around ending slavery? Why is Rook not having an existential crisis after talking to Solas and finding out the truth of his past in his memories?
Look, all I'm saying is that I don't understand why more people aren't angry with Mythal and why no one is talking about slavery and racism. The whole point of fantasy and sci-fi, and the point of Dragon Age, is to critique modern society through thinly veiled references. That's why people get so passionate about Star Trek. And yeah, yes, it's necessarily going to make a piece of media more niche, or people are going to bitch about it (especially gamer bros my dude calm down, sorry something is very briefly not about you), but it makes a game *good* and lasting
BG3 did a good job of exploring the themes of trauma and power imbalance, and while some characters I think needed more fleshing out (Wyll my beloved, I owe you a lengthy fanfic for the injustice done to you), it was particularly powerful in Astarion. The people are ready for real exploration of real issues. We always have been. Backing off was a mistake.
ANYWAY I have feelings and none of my friends share my special interest. Here you go.
Why Fenris could Never Cameo in Dragon Age: The Veilguard
In the run up to Dragon age: The Veilguard, I was almost certain that Fenris would be our main legacy character from previous games. Not only has he been central in the comics released between DAI and DATV, he is an escaped Tevinter slave who's plot revolved around magisters, magic and the structural prejudices surrounding elves in Thedas. Not only that, but he's canonically in Tevinter killing slavers currently so he's geographically in the right place for us to meet him.
About halfway through the game though, it was clear to me: Fenris could never cameo in The Veilguard. Because he'd break it.
How the Veilguard treats Thedas is...odd to me, to say the least. I will be writing another post about how much I adored the expanded big lore in this game (the titans, ancient elves were spirits, where the blight came from etc.) and yet while these large lore expansions worked for me, the actual culture of modern Thedas is entirely softened, its sharp edges filed down until it's a sanitised fantasy world devoid of what made the franchise so vibrant and compelling in the first place.
So let's start with Fenris and slavery. In all three games, the reality of slavery is pushing at the corners of the world. In DAO Loghain allows Tevinter Magisters to enslave elves in order to raise money for his war effort. In DA2 Fenris is fighting to be free from slavers who will not leave him be, let alone the reminders that the city was built by slaves which are everywhere. In DAI one of the two possible mini-bosses is Calpurnia who was a slave, and characters such as Gatt and Dorian both show us how much slavery is tied into Tevinters culture and success.
But DATV the first game actually set in Tevinter where we get to see the famed Minrathous...it's like the game purposefully wants to avoid the issue. I can feel it tilting the camera away to not allow me to see. Slavery is mentioned, but never talked about in depth or as a specifically ELVEN problem in Tevinter. This might have been done to be less problematic, it feels ignored.
We are in DOCK TOWN. We are at the DOCKS. You would think that slaves from all over Thedas who are being smuggled and bought by various groups would be everywhere. You would think that the injustice in dock town would be partly built on the back of ships we've seen in the comics crammed with elves in chains. This is the world Dragon age set up for us. And yet...nothing. zilch. A tiny easily skippable side quest where we free a couple of venatori slaves, but only one of whom is an elf.
None of our Tevinter characters seem to have been influenced by their culture even a little bit when it comes to how they view elves; there is no moment when Neve fucks up and says something prejudiced, no moment when Bellara or Davrin are distrustful of her for being a Tevinter mage.
The same goes for Zevran; a character who epitomised the issues with the crows. The crows have consistently been characterised as very morally dubious assassins who kill for the highest bidder and who buy children on the slave market and torture them as they grow in order to assure that they reach maturity able to withstand torture without giving away a client's name. Zevran is very explicit about the fact that if you fail a contract your life is forefit.
Nobody responds particularly to you if you're an elf. Nobody trusts rook less for it in Tevinter. Nobody treats Rook any differently. Even DAI had better mechanics for this; with nobles in Orlais less likely to trust you as an elf.
Considering one of the main plot points of this game and what makes Solas sympathetic is the fact that he was fighting against the slavery of ancient elves...you'd think the game might want to mirror that in modern Thedas. It might want to show us how characters fighting to end slavery in Tevinter are similar to Solas and how the society Solas fought against was similar to the one that characters we love such as Fenris have fought against in modern Thedas. Maybe we'd want to explore how in a world of slavery like this, how could the answer NOT be to tear it all down? Maybe we should have that option at the end of the game so it really can chose whether we agree with Solas and his plans or not.
Adding Fenris to this game would entirely break the game because Fenris refuses to allow you to look away from this horror. He is a sympathetic character who had to learn to trust mages again because of course he didn't trust them. Of course he didn't. Fenris wouldn't allow the camera to shift focus because he's literally covered in the lyrium scars that show how slaves are used as experiments in Tevinter. Fenris WOULD question Neve on how she feels about elves and slaves. Fenris WOULD have things to say about Lucanis and the crows (let alone the fact Lucanis is an abomonation). So he could never be in this game; he'd drop a bomb on it's carefully constructed blinders to the very society its supposed to be set in.
And yet, in DATV, the crows are presented as...a found family of misfits and orphans? The politician who opposes the crows having absolute power in Antiva is framed as a comically evil idiot who doesn't understand that the crows are ontologically good. Yet...they're NOT. Crows in this game act more like a secret rebel group than an assassin organisation. We see no crow taking contracts with the VERY RICH venatori magisters despite being hired killers. We see crows just refuse to kill people despite having a contract because 'its crueler to leave them alive'. The crows don't feel like the crows here, they feel like a softened version of a cool assassin group who are cool because they wear black and purple.
Our pirate group are also sanitised; the Lords of Fortune are good pirates who only steal treasure that's not culturally significant. Theyve clearly read the modern critiques of the British Museum and have decided to explicitly stop anyone levelling similar critiques at them. There is no faction of the Lords of Fortune who aren't like this, no internal arguments about it. Everyone just. Agrees. And is able to accurately tell what a cultural artifact is vs. what treasure that you can have yourself is. Rather than showing us why a pirate stealing cultural artifacts might be bad (like in da2 where such a situation literally causes a coup and a war) it just tells us it's bad. But also pirates are cool so we still want them in our world.
This issue seaps into Thedas and drains it of any of the interesting complexity and ability to SAY anything that this franchise had before this game. It becomes a game about telling and not showing rather than the other way around. The games have ALWAYS asked questions about oppressive structural systems and their interplay with society, religion and culture and how these things can affect even the most well meaning character. Dragon age at its best IS a game about society and how society functions both for and against it's characters and what happens to societies built on cruelty and indifference. The best bad guys dragon age has given us are those who are bad because they embody these systems or have been shaped by them. Our main characters have had to wrestle with questions surrounding how to exist in these systems, fight against them, learn and grow.
Yet every group you come across in DATV is sanitised and cleaned up to the point of being as non problematic as humanly possible. None of our cast of characters have to wrestle with where they came from or the world that shaped them. None of them have to confront their own biases. They start the game perfectly non-problematic and end it that way too.
And this just...isn't what Dragon Age has been in the past. It isn't why I love the franchise. The whole game just felt, in a way, hollow. And this was a CHOICE and it is why the legacy characters are few and far between. Too many dragon age characters are just too...angry and complex for this game. You can feel them pulling their punches on this one. I have to imagine they did this because they didn't want to be criticised or have too much controversy? But I think it honestly goes far too much in the other direction and just makes it bland.
I can't imagine what I say here will be unique, but it is the basis for a LOT of my other thoughts on this game so I wanted to get it out of the way first. The softened Thedas and characters make this game by far the weakest in the franchise.

David Gaider on Alistair, under a cut for length:
"Ah, Alistair. Depending on who you ask, he's the adorable woobie with the biggest heart or the irritating, over-used man-child. Yes, he is indeed all of those things. Good characters have flaws to go with their virtues. Ugly spots. That is literally their humanity. He was a bit of a bear to write, at the outset. James (Ohlen, the first creative director on DAO) had this idea he needed to be a grizzled Warden veteran - older, distrusting. Everyone hated him instantly. I call this the Carth Onasi Problem, and suggested to James that maybe I try something else. My observation says that the characters who are generally liked the most are the supportive ones. Enthusiastic. Funny? Sometimes, sure, but that's *not* required. I need to digress. See, at the time James had this (regrettable) period where he believed everything could be derived from a formula. He even sold this idea to the founders, Ray and Greg. Google 'BioWare formula'. Anyway, how this relates is because James thought the DAO cast needed a Minsc: a comedy character who would become super popular and, ideally, the icon of DA. "Isn't that Alistair?" you ask. "Arguable," I say, "but no." James had me to up a huge list of 'comedic archetypes' and I wrote some possible dialogue for each one. Then he had the team vote. The winning archetype? The Buffoon - like Homer Simpson or Peter Griffin. James was pleased. I was not. "The problem," I said, "is I don't find the Buffoon funny." đ
"
""But you're a professional." "Sure, I *can* write him... but comedy isn't science. I need to find him funny. If I write him, the only comedy I'll mine is where he makes fun of himself." James took that on board and then passed the character onto someone else. The result? Oghren. I rest my case. So back to the supportive character: that was my thought for a new Alistair. It was a special case, after all - the DAO PC was thrust into a terrible situation. They needed someone who had their back. A bud. A *likeable* bud. I was watching Buffy at the time, and my thoughts drifted towards Xander. Now, I know Joss Whedon is persona non grata these days, but this was 2006, OK? I was watching Buffy and thought, "man, Xander is such a wasted character" and considered how to fix him. Then I realized this might work for Alistair. Plus, I wanted to see if I could replicate the Whedon vocal patter. That was the new Alistair: a more useful and likeable yet equally dorky version of Xander. We had very strict rules in DA about language: no modern speech styles, colloquialisms, any words that came into use in our world after 1900 got severe side eye... but Alistair? Alistair got a blanket pass. Was it great that the lead writer's leading man got to break the rules? I guess not, but it's my opinion that you can break those kinds of rules - selectively, in small doses. Too much and you break the illusion. And it worked. Alistair was an instant hit. Not just with the team, but with the fans."
"Confession time? Yes, I knew Goldanna wasn't meant to be Alistair's mother. But neither was Fiona, originally. I think fans caught wind of some revisionism at work, and OK it's true. I had a more Arthurian idea for his birth but I stopped liking it... yet not soon enough to go back and make edits. Should I have just left it be, left Goldanna as his mother? Maybe. It was one of those writer things I just couldn't let go of and I probably could have used someone to sit me down and go "Gaider, please. Just stop." I still like Fiona, and where I took it. But I probably shouldn't have gone there. Casting Alistair was SUCH a chore. He required a weird mix of devilish charm, but with enough sincerity and adorkableness it didn't come off as smarmy. Every audition went full smarm... until Steve Valentine up and appeared out of nowhere. In the midst of a batch of audition files, there he was. We brought Steve in "just to try out", and he pulled it off. Even the "frog time" line, which (seriously) nobody else could. And when he got to the romantic lines, Steve's voice turned into pure butter without, again, sliding into "oh, he's slightly creepy". Both Caroline and I were sold. And he was so gloriously easy to write. It's a well I'd probably return to... a bit too often, maybe? Maric, then Anders in Awakening, and then Alistair kept popping up in future games and the comics because, yes, he was pretty much the breakout comedy character of DA. Which still makes me happy. đ CORRECTION: Goldanna was someone Alistair thought was his *sister*, and her mother his mother. Look, it was almost twenty years ago, OK? đ
--- I actually had a whole scene written in DAI where Fiona tells him, but the requirements were so specific for them both to be in Skyhold and it seemed like it'd be relevant only to a small small sub-section of fans (and confusing to everyone else) so it was dropped. Rightfully so, I guess."
[source thread]
User: "The Buffy vibes were strong in DAO and I was very happy with that at the time. What I loved about DAO was the mix of dark themes entwined with bits of levity. That's how I like my angst. Dark, broody with a side of ha-has and y'all delivered in DAO for sure." David Gaider: "That's a me thing. I like going dark - really dark - and then pairing it with light, comedic moments. It provides peaks and valleys in the tone, and prevents either from becoming overwhelming. Hey if it worked for Shakespeare (alas, poor Yorrick), it can work for DA, right? đ" [source]

Pairing: frat!rafe x sorority!reader
Warnings: SMUT, language, fingering, p in v, no mentions of protection (wrap it!), breeding, self pleasure (Rafe)
ê„ê„ê„
You had come over to hang out with Rafe. You both havenât seen each other since yesterday since college was busy for you both. Rafe needed his daily dose of you, so he spammed texted you to sleepover.
So here you were, lying in his bed. Wearing just his old football jersey and a pair of Calvin Kline underwear. You laid in his bed watching tv. Rafe was playing cod with the guys. His headset on but one ear off just in case you wanted to chat or needed anything. He sat in his gaming chair at his desk. His eyes glued to the monitor, but occasionally glanced over to you.
You watched the tv on his wall, enjoying the company and finding it funny how the boys talk in chat.
You felt drowsy, your eyelids felt heavier each blink. You moved your head into the pillow more, turning over to lay on your stomach as you went to sleep.
Rafe glanced over to you as he heard you shift around in bed. His eyes raked over you. Seeing the jersey had rode up resting on your kid back. Showing off one of his favourite things about you, your ass. He could stare at it all day if he could. His hands on it most of the time. But it was the fact that you laid in his bed. Tangled up in the covers, wearing his jersey. Looking peaceful and relaxed, that made him hard in his sweatpants.
He groaned as he looked down at his sweats, seeing the newly formed tent. He didnât bother putting on boxers as he had only just got out of the shower and just wanted to throw something on. Besides he does it most of the time when he lounges around.
He turned his attention back to the game. Trying to calm down the hard on in his sweats. But he canât help but look over to you every so often. He couldnât do anything about it yet. You were asleep. And he wasnât the type to do such things without you knowing. He knew better.
He moved his right hand over his bulge. His controller in his left hand. The guys and himself were in the lobby of the game. Some of the guys either going to the bathroom or getting snacks. He quickly muted himself.
Moving his hand into his boxers, he closed his eyes and leaned his head back. Stroking the long length of his as he thought about you sat on top of him on his gaming chair. Like you have many times.
He just couldnât budge it. Not even his hand was helping anymore. He had enough. He was going to climb into bed and sleep it off. He quickly made an excuse for him to end the game with the guys. He logged off and turned his ps5 off.
He climbed into bed beside you. Pulling you close to him. Letting out a long sigh, he closed his eyes and tried to relax.
He soon fell asleep. Then to be only woken up at two in the morning. He groaned to himself when he felt his hips subconsciously grid against your side.
He was tried, so were you. But he had to get rid of it. And heâd know youâd most def would help him.
He brushed a few strands of hair out of your face. Then whispering in his deep husky tired voice âbaby⊠need you to wake up fâmeâŠâ
You turned over, rubbing your eye âhm?â
He grinned softly âcâmon⊠I need some help⊠you looked so good in my jersey earlier⊠I couldnât shift itâŠâ he pressed his hard on against your hip to show you.
You resting your forehead against his lips âbut âm tired, RafeyâŠâ âI know, I know, could you just stay awake? Iâll do all the work⊠just relaxed and help me out, yeah?â God his voice did things to you no one could ever explain. His raspy along with the deep mess of the accent and his overall tone. Sent shivers down your spine.
He pressed a kiss to your forehead, then your lips, then your neck. Gently turning you over and lifting your right thigh up more. He moved his hand along your side and down to your entrance.
His palm against you, already feeling your underwear to be damp. He smirked lazily âthatâs my girlâŠâ he moved his hand in slow, lazy circles.
You moaned softly, he pulled your underwear to the side. Moving his middle finger inside of you. He lazily pushed it in and out. Curling his finger every other time. You pushed your ass back into his hard on. Causing him to groan and rock his hips into you.
He slipped his ring finger into you next. Prepping you for him. Causing you to tiredly rock your hips against his hand.
He pulled his fingers away and move his hand into his sweats. He then tugged his sweats down just enough to let his cock out. He was hung. No doubt about it. All the girls in college would die to get what you got most nights. But you took it all the way each time. Nothing like the girls he had in the past. Nothing compares to you.
He ran his tip along your slit, gently pushing it inside. Causing you to moan softly. He went in, inch by inch.
He moved his hand to your jaw. Holding it and turn your head enough so he could kiss you. As he would lazily and slowly thrust in and out of you.
You liked this side of him. Most of the time you both were rough or loud. This was quiet and relaxing for a change.
He bit your bottom lip gently as he pulls away a little. He looked into your eyes with pure lust. His lips brushing against yours as he mumbled âso fucking tight fâme⊠best fucking pussy, all mine, baby, yeah? All mineâŠlove it so muchâ you moaned softly. Looking into his eyes with tiredness and attraction. God the look youâre giving him right now drove him insane.
He kept moving his large length in you. He moved a little so he was on top of you more. Getting a better angle and also going deeper in you. Causing you to moan a little louder. He moved his left hand next to your head in the bed, stabilising himself. As his right went under the jersey and over your breast. Massaging your breast as he rest his forehead on the side of your head. He breathing heavy and ragged.
He felt you tighten around him, causing him to groan lowly âfuuuccckkâŠâ
He picked up his pace, you were about to moan when he shoved his hand over your mouth gently. He whispered âgotta stay quiet, baby, I donât want the guys hearing how good I make you feel⊠donât wanna wake em up now, yeah?â You nodded.
As you feel your climax approaching, Rafe smirked. Knowing your body inside and out. He knew you were close. He picked up his pace more. The room filled with heavy breathing and cheek smacking.
Your jaw slackens as you tighten around him and finish. He groans âthaaatss it, come all over my cock, yeah? Mhm fuck, so hotâŠâ
He moved his mouth to your ear âwant me to come in ya? Want it, baby? I know you do, tell me, do you?â You nodded âyes, Rafey, want you too⊠so bad, pleaseâŠâ he smirked.
Feeling himself finishing in you was amazing. Knowing it was him that made you feel this good and him being the one to finish in you, was a dream to him.
He stayed there for a moment. Giving you a âthank youâ kiss. He mumbled against your cheek âthank you for helping, babe⊠did so good fâme⊠Iâll treat you in the morning, you donât have class till the afternoon⊠Iâll eat you out all morning, hm? Wanna do it so bad, been craving youâŠâ
You nodded eagerly, one of your favourite things he does was just that.
He gently pulled out, watching his seed go down your thigh. He grabbed some tissues on the side of his bed and wiped it. Knowing youâd probably not want to sleep with it all over you.
Tossing the tissue into the trash can. He laid back beside you. Pulling on his sweats again. And wrapping his arms around your waist. Whispering sweet nothings into your ear as you fall back asleep.
And best believe he kept his word for the next morning.

Were you being punished by your love for him?
You tried to move on, you really did. You tried everything you could think of, bar from ignoring Rafe all together. You had even joined a dating app, where you met a fellow Kook named Alexander, and you went on a few dates with him. He was a great guy, handsome, smart, and charming, but he wasnât Rafe. Alexander didnât draw your attention away from your best friend that you were hopelessly still in love with, even after trying to gaslight yourself into believing that you had a crush on him.
You kept Alexander around for a while. He was a fun guy, he paid for your little lunch or coffee shop dates, and he was a good fuck. You had lied and told him that you just werenât a very vocal girl in bed, but in reality you were biting your tongue to keep from moaning Rafeâs name into his ear. It had been a few weeks, and even after everything, Rafe was still the only person you thought of when you slipped your hands under your panties at night. You eventually started to feel bad about leading him on and tried to break things off amicably. He didnât take it well, but you didnât expect him to.
You had tried to distract yourself, going to party after party and club after club, making out with whatever guy you could get your hands on. But nothing worked. You couldnât stop thinking about your Kook prince, the most feared man on Kildare that had a soft spot in his heart for you.Â
You had almost hoped that Rafe wouldâve ditched you, wouldâve kicked you to the side like a dog. At least it would be easier to move on that way, and you wouldnât be stuck under his thumb, thinking about the ways you could get out of the hold he has on you. He still wanted to see you and be around you, constantly calling and texting like it was normal, like you hadnât professed your undying love to him only three weeks ago. You felt like a two-headed monster. One head was his best friend, one head was deeply in love with him.
You know heâs fine, but what about you? What do you do?

Even after everything, you still have to show up for your Friday night tradition; sitting on Rafeâs sofa, tucked under his arm, watching a shitty 80s zombie movies while eating a Costco pizza. You shouldnât have agreed, knowing it would only make things harder, but you would do anything for him. Your poor heart would always surrender to him.
Maybe this time he would start falling for you, too.
You pull into the driveway of his new house, grabbing the pizza from the backseat before heading up to the front door, balancing the giant box with one hand as you knock.
The door swings open a second later, with Rafe standing in the doorway, grinning at the sight of the pizza box in your hands. He steps aside, gesturing for you to come in. âYouâve arrived with the goods, I see.â
You swallow hard. He looks so fucking good, wearing a tight black t-shirt and a pair of dark green sweatpants. You hug him with one arm, burying your face in his shoulder and inhaling deep. Your eyebrows furrow slightly and your free hand clenches around your keys. He smells different. Sweeter. Almost like candy.
Sofia mustâve been here earlier.
You pull away, carrying the pizza box into his living room. âYup. I got you extra cheese, too.â
He follows behind you, shutting the door behind the two of you. His arm wraps around your shoulder when you reach the sofa, pulling you in tight to his side. âExtra cheese for my girl.â he teases, taking the box from you to set on the coffee table. Youâre on the edge while heâs so goddamn polite and composed.
You tense up slightly as you settle into his sofa, grabbing the remote. You turn the TV on, trying to distract yourself from the empty feeling building up inside of you and gnawing at your guts. âWhich movie are we watching tonight?â
âMmâŠâ He stretches out on the sofa, his legs tangling with yours as he looks over your shoulder at the TV. His body is pressed up against yours, and as usual, his proximity starts to stir up feelings deep inside of you. Feelings you thought you had managed to repress. âHow about Romero?â
Your eyebrows furrow again. This man was going to give you wrinkles. âI thought we were watching zombie movies. Not ones about a Salvadoran archbishop.â
âNo, not Romero like the actual archbishop, I mean like--â He lets out a frustrated sigh. âThe man who invented the zombie film genre, dumbass. Do you need me to find a new best friend or something? Because youâre starting to get a little too idiotic for me.â
What the fuck? âExcuse me?â
He snorts, watching you get defensive. âCome on, it was a joke,â he says, nudging you with his knee. âLighten up, Iâm just teasing.â
âIt wasnât funny.â You say.
Itâs then that he notices the way your shoulders are tense. Your jaw is clenched, and your eyes focus on the screen in front of the two of you with a bit too much intent. Youâre upset. He can feel the agitation radiating off of you, and he hates it. Heâs too used to his best friend being comfortable with him, happy around him. He lets out a breath, sitting up straight. âDonât be like that,â he mutters. âRelax.â
âYou donât get to call me a dumbass, Rafe.â You say, your tone sharp.
Rafe stares at you, his irritation rising bit by bit. He takes in your expression, your sharp tone, the agitation that was practically coming off of you in waves. This was new territory for him. You werenât just being cold, you were pissed. Heâd never seen you this pissed at him. He didnât like it.
He wanted the old you back, the you he thought you were. His best friend, his confidant, not the girl whoâs helplessly in love with him, not the girl who lies awake all night thinking about him. Not the girl who moans his name into her pillow as she cums, hoping one day he would fall in love with her, too. He wanted you to just move on, to give up, to completely wipe your romantic feelings for him clean. He wanted more, while leaving you with less.
âYou didn't use to care about this shit,â He says. âNot until you decided you were in love with me or whatever.â
âDecided?â You ask, scoffing. âIt isnât something you just wake up and decide.â
Rafe stares at you, his gaze hard, almost like heâs trying to search for the words that he wants to say. He was never good at this, talking about his feelings. He sighs, leaning forward to rest his elbows on his knees. âI⊠I donât know.â He mutters, staring down at the floor. âI just wish things were the way they used to be, okay? I didnât ask for all this bullshit. I never asked you to feel this way, so why are you making things so difficult?â
âI didnât ask for this either.â You say.
âWell, youâre the one whose in love.â He says, the words almost bitter on his tongue. âYouâre the one who made things difficult. I didnât ask you to feel this way. I didnât tell you to go and fall in love with me. So why are you getting pissed because Iâm not in love with you too?â
âIâm not pissed, Rafe,â You say, although deep down you truly are. âI knew from the very beginning that I had no chance with you. I wouldnât love me, either.â
He falls silent, running a hand through his hair. He didnât know how to respond to that. He knew that wasnât true. He knows that youâre beautiful, and sweet, and kind, and funny. He knew that you should have every chance with him. But he just didnât love you that way. âHow many times do we have to go over this?â He asks, his voice soft. âIâve never loved you like that. Youâre my best friend, you know that.â
âThanks for the reminder.â You say bitterly.
He grits his jaw, frustrated now. He hated how bitter you were when it came to this. He hated that you expected him to be in love with you back when he just didnât see you that way. He hated that he had to keep explaining this over and over again to you, and he hated the fact that you were just sitting here, pouting like a toddler. Like a girl who was in love.
He was tired of being the bad guy in this. âThen you shouldnât have fallen in love with me.â
âI wish I never did.â You say.
He doesnât speak. He doesnât know what to say. He just turns to look at the movie, his jaw clenched. He hated that you said that. He hated that you wished youâd never fallen for him. He didnât want you to wish that. If you didnât fall for him, how long would it be before you fell for someone else? Someone who wasnât him? He didnât want the thought of you with another guy to piss him off so much.
Rafe sighs. âQuit looking at me like Iâm the bad guy here.â
âDo you want me to pretend youâre a good guy?â You ask, crossing your arms.
âI am the good guy,â He snaps, his eyes narrowing. What the hell? He knew he wasnât an angel by any means, but he was a good guy. He took care of his family, protected his friends, and stayed loyal to his girlfriend. âYouâre the one who fell in love with me. I didnât do anything wrong.â
You sigh, looking away. This was pointless, even more pointless than the daydreams you filled your mind with when you couldnât sleep. âWhatever.â
He looks at you for a moment, jaw clenched, his body tense.
âYou know, this whole self-pitying, 'woe is me, Rafe is the bad guy' bullshit is starting to piss me off. Itâs getting annoying.â He says.
âI donât know what you want me to do, Rafe.â You say.
âStop acting as if Iâve done something wrong. Like Iâve wronged you,â He says, exasperated. He canât understand why youâre being like this, and itâs pissing him off even more. âI donât like you that way. Iâve never liked you that way. Why is that such a hard concept for you to accept?â
âIt isnât,â You say, your voice starting to get thick with emotion. âI know you donât like me, I know you arenât attracted to me, I just⊠itâs just so hard for me to move on, and I donât know why.â
Rafe is silent for a moment, watching as your face starts to crumble. He canât help but sigh. He moves closer to you, placing his hand on your thigh. Normally, it was the opposite. Normally it was you comforting him, not him trying to comfort you. âItâll pass. Youâll get over it eventually.â
Itâll pass.
Itâll pass.
It will never pass, will it?
You sniffle, one hand reaching up to wipe the corners of your eyes. âI should go.â
He catches your wrist, tugging you back down on the sofa. âSit down,â he says, his voice firm. âYouâre not going anywhere yet. We need to talk about something.â
âAbout what?â You ask, not looking at him.
He lets go of your wrist, crossing his arms over his chest. âThis,â He says simply, gesturing towards your face. âThisâŠdepression, sadness, self-pity bullshit. I hate seeing you the way you are right now, like youâve just been kicked down. Itâs pathetic. Itâs not you.â
You donât reply, finally looking over at him, eyes red rimmed with tears.
He stares back, his expression unchanging. You think he wouldâve softened up at the sight of you, but he doesnât. He doesnât want to see you like this anymore. Youâre supposed to be his best friend, the person he confides in and takes comfort in. âYouâre supposed to be the person I come to when Iâm upset. Not the other way around. This pity party you have going on needs to end. Youâre better than that.â
You look back down at your lap, starting to pick at the skin around your thumbnails. âWhat do you want me to do?â
âMove on,â Rafe says, his tone harsher than he intended. âMove the fuck on. I want my best friend again, not this whiney, insecure brat. I donât have any romantic feelings for you, and Iâm tired of treating you with kid gloves because you canât handle the truth. Get a grip and get over it. You either move on, and things go back to normal, or we stop being friends.â
You feel your stomach drop, your throat constricting, air getting caught in your windpipe. You donât look at him, continuing to dig your fingernails into your skin. He watches you for a moment, noticing the way your chest shakes as you try to keep back the tears. He knew your habits by now, and he noticed the way your hands started to fiddle and pick. You did that when you were trying to distract yourself. You did that when you were upset, hurt.Â
âStop that,â He mumbles, reaching out and grabbing your hand.
You pull your hand away and stand up, fists clenching as your chest shakes. You couldnât break down. Not here, not in front of him. âI should go.â
Rafe reaches out, grabbing your wrist again. He stands up too, using his grip to tug you back towards him. âWe need to talk about this. Sit down.â
You pull away again, taking a step back, a soft squeak tumbling out of your mouth as you start to cry.
The squeak causes his stomach to twist. His face falls. âDonât pull away from me.â He pleads softly, his hand reaching out for you again.
You retreat again, shaking your head as more tears start to fall. Your legs shake, your hands coming up to cover your face.
He grabs your wrist again, gently pulling you into his arms. âStop it,â he says firmly, pulling you in close to his chest, his arms wrapping tightly around your trembling frame. âStop.â
You sob into his chest, your hands still covering your face, shoulders shaking violently as you try and take a deep breath.
He stays quiet, one arm wrapped around your waist to hold you firmly against him. His other hand comes up to tangle in your hair, playing with the roots of it as his chin rests on the top of your head. âStop crying,â He repeats, his voice a bit gentler. âIâm not worth it.â
âYes you are.â You mumble, wiping your tears with your fingers, palms still pressed against your face, mascara smearing across your cheeks.
âNo, Iâm not,â He says firmly, his breath fanning over the crown of your head. His fingers tighten slightly in your hair, rubbing slow circles into your scalp. Not to offer comfort. No, he knew that wouldnât work. But to just keep you where you were, firmly held against his chest. âIâm a disaster. Even after everything, after trying to change, Iâm still a disaster.â
âYou're not a disaster.â You say, pulling back to look at him.
He stares down at you, his expression hard to read. He has his usual, guarded look on, but the way his hand reaches up to gently wipe away one of your tears gives away the fact that heâs affected. âI am,â He repeats, his voice quiet. âAnd I wonât ever be the man you think I am.â
You hesitate. âI want the Rafe Iâm looking at. Not the picture of you in my head.â
He lets a huff of air out through his nose, his expression softening for the briefest of moments as he looks down at you. You were so beautiful, even when you were crying and on the edge of a breakdown. But he couldnât allow himself to get caught up in it again, like in high school. He had moved on. At least, in his mind. âYouâll never be satisfied with that. Iâm no saint, and Iâll never be the romantic, fairy tale guy you want me to be.â
âI just want--â You try to correct yourself, although you meant the former. âI just wanted to be yours.â
He stiffens for a second, his gaze hardening again as he studies your face. âNo,â he mutters, a tinge of something you canât place in his voice. âYou canât be mine. Iâm not yours, and Iâll never be yours. Youâre not mine to keep, youâre not the one I want, youâre not the one Iâm in love with.â
You sigh, your voice soft. âI know.â
He lets out a breath, the expression on his face pained. He cupped your face, wiping away some of the smeared mascara. âI donât want to keep hurting you,â He says softly. âI donât want to keep making you cry. I donât want to keep disappointing you.â
âIâm hurting myself,â You say. âItâs not your fault. Iâm the one who just canât move on.â
âYouâre not the one at fault,â Rafe says, his thumb still wiping at the tear stains on your cheek. âIâm the one who canât love you the way you want to be loved. And Iâll never be able to. You deserve someone who can, and I want you to find that person.â
You did find that person, the one holding your face and looking at you like youâre his saving light in eternal darkness. You had ignored so many bad omens, hoping that the universe was wrong, that they made a mistake, that your red strings of fate were intertwined in the stars.
But they werenât.
You swallow hard. âIâm sorry. Iâll try harder. To get over you.â
âGood.â He says, his thumb brushing under your eye one last time, wiping away a tear. His thumb brushes across your cheek, pressing down slightly to feel the softness of your skin. He moves his other hand to your jaw, moving his thumb side to side on your neck, feeling your pulse.Â
His eyes meet yours before his gaze travels over your face, soaking in every detail of you. They linger on your lips, just for a second too long, and much to his dismay, you notice it. His eyes move back up to look into yours.
Your breath hitches ever so slightly, your lips parting. Rafe purses his lips together slightly, rubbing them together, his eyes looking back down at your mouth. He mumbles your name quietly, his voice soft.
âWhat?â You ask.
He doesnât answer.Â
His eyes are still looking at your mouth. He watches your lips move as you speak, watches how your tongue peeks out of the corner of your mouth ever so slightly.Â
He canât think straight. He canât think at all. His mind has gone fuzzy, and every cell of his body is telling him something he knows he shouldnât do.Â
His hand slides from your jaw to the back of your neck, and he pulls you in closer.
He places a kiss to your forehead, his eyes closing.
Your eye twitches, your stomach churning, your face getting hot with shame and embarrassment.
He pulls away, looking down at you. âIâm sorry, alright? Can we just⊠can we just chill and watch a movie?â
You should say no. You should scream at him, yell at him for manipulating you, for looking at you like that and acting like he was going to kiss you.
But you canât. You canât bring yourself to hate him, even after this.Â
You swallow hard, blinking a few times as you look at the long forgotten pizza box on the coffee table. âYeah. We can watch a movie.â
He feels relieved. Thatâs good.Â
He gives you a small smile, placing a hand on the small of your back and ushering you towards the sofa. He turns you towards the sofa, gesturing for you to sit down, his hand still lingering on your back, the feel of your skin under your sweater making his heart race.Â
His eyes linger on you for a moment, before he turns to grab the remote off of the coffee table. He sits down next to you, trying to keep a normal distance between the two of you, instead of pressing himself up against your side. He opens the pizza box as he opens Hulu, handing you a slice.Â
You take it, your fingers and hands numb and tingling as you try to suppress the bile in your throat.

The Outer Banks is truly paradise on Earth.
Although The Boneyard isnât the nicest beach on the island, it has a few secluded spots that still manage to take your breath away. You find your favourite spot easily, a small sandbank by the entrance to a long-forgotten cove. It was once filled with rumours of pirates and treasures, but now itâs full of seaweed.
You settle into the sand, holding your sandals in your hands, arms draped over your knees. You watch the sunset pink and orange streaking across the sky, listening to the soft crashing of the waves and the distant call of a seagull. The wind gently pulls through your hair, and you push some behind your ears, closing your eyes as you feel the sun on your face.
Itâs peaceful.
Another soft breeze brushes over you, carrying with it the scent of weed, an uncommon occurrence for this particular spot. Not a lot of other people on the island knew of your spot, mainly just Rafe and Sarah.
You turn your gaze to your left, finding a familiar figure sitting about a yard away from you.
JJ smiles, head tilted to the side, a lit joint between his fingers. âHey.â
âHey.â You say, smiling softly. You had always had a little soft spot for JJ, considering him to be one of the few Pogues you could actually stand, maybe other than Kiara.
JJ takes a hit of the joint, looking out over the ocean, the sun starting to descend towards the horizon. He sighs contently before turning to look at you again, raising his eyebrows as he studies you. âWhatâre doing out here all alone?â
âJust watching the sunset.â You say. You pat the sand next to you, inviting him to take a seat.
âYeah? Me too,â He says, moving closer to take a seat next to you. He stretches out his legs, leaning back onto his hands and resting his head against the sand. He takes another hit from the joint, sighing out the smoke before offering it to you. âWant a hit?â
You nod, taking it between your thumb and pointer finger. You take a deep hit, sucking in the smoke and blowing it out in a thick white cloud. You hold it out towards him. âThanks.â
He takes it from you, his fingers brushing against yours. âAnytime,â He says, leaning back. He watches you for a moment, his gaze lingering on your face. The sun is setting in front of you, casting a warm, orange glow illuminating you that catches on your hair. He canât help but admire the way the sunset looks against your figure, casting a glowing haze around you. His gaze softens in the presence of your soft glow. âYou look pretty tonight.â
You smile softly, feeling your face get warm. âThanks, JJ. So do you.â
He smiles back, his eyes locking with yours. Itâs just the two of you out here, and JJ likes it that way. Just you and him sitting alone on the beach, watching the sunset. âJust pretty?â He asks, raising an eyebrow at you.
âHandsome.â You add.
Heâs silent for a moment, staring back at you. He lets out a breath through his nose, trying to hide the grin on his face as his cheeks turn a deeper shade of pink, but itâs still clear on his face. âDamn right, I am.â He mutters. The two of you just stare at each other for a minute, the quiet sounds of the ocean in front of you and the distant sound of a fish jumping, trying to catch a bug flying across the water.
You smile at him again, looking back over the water.
JJ studies your profile for a moment, taking a hit off of his joint before passing it back to you, still staring at you. His eyes linger on your eyes, before slowly dropping down to your lips. He watches you, the soft expression on your face and how your hair blows in the wind. Heâs always liked the way you look when youâre relaxed. You always look pretty, but you really look beautiful when youâre relaxed, when thereâs no stress or worry in your mind.Â
He studies your face, committing every detail to memory. He sits up straighter, placing the joint back in his mouth. He hesitates before throwing one arm around your shoulder, pulling you closer to his side. You oblige, slotting yourself against him, leaning your head against his shoulder.Â
He smiles to himself, feeling you move closer. His arm tightens around you, fingers absentmindedly tracing circles into your shoulder. He watches the sun over the ocean, noticing how the light dances over the rippling water. He takes the joint from his mouth once again, taking a hit. He holds it in his lungs for a second, before leaning forward slightly, his gaze shifting down to your cheek. He lets out a cloud of smoke from his mouth, the smoke hovering in the air between the two of you.
You take the joint from him and take a hit before handing it back, holding it in your lungs before exhaling slowly. You look up at him, watching as he puts the joint in his mouth as he shifts in the sand. You smile softly again, admiring the way his eyes shine in the pink and orange hues of the setting sun.
Sometimes the one you want is not the one you need.

I like your explanations of our morally imperfect existence, accepting the need for help or a savior, that Christianity is also a mindful and onerous process, not a side-thought with no burden, that being raised Christian and being Christian are two entirely different things, and the personal relationship with God. I would add, Christian faith is faith in the ultimate goodness and victory, Hope unending, despite the world, despite everything, because of Him.
Everything in this universe is transactional, except God's love, which merely has to be understood, and accepted. God is perfect and needs nothing - he made us because he wants us, because he loves us, because he chooses us.
A "Christian declaring himself to be a Jew" is a schismatic and heretical form of the religion, very atypical, a Messianic Jew, and should not be used to misrepresent Christians in general.
Catechism leading up to confirmation, in many Christian denominations adult confirmation, is also a process of learning, reflection and commitment, although it is not "conversion" itself, it is part of the road towards being a full member of the Church and living in the faith, and it is for example the way i converted / re-connected.
I however, perhaps influenced by having being an atheist until the time of my actual conversion (despite having being raised Christian), have never come to actually believe in punitivistic Hellfire doctrines.
I can get the doctrinal view of the existence of a state of self-imposed separation from divinity, and of the unredeemed, but I believe two fundamental things that modulate how I interpret that: (1) there are kind and good people who are not Christian, (2) Christ helps us willingly and enthusiastically by us accepting his moral message, which is time-sensitive worldly kindness and ultimate goodness, and rejection of cruelty and tyranny when it matters, which is now.
I really don't believe that atheists, Jews, muslims or other 'pagans' are "punished" simply for not professing Christianity, the mere idea is unchristlike. Communication and truth go deeper than that. Christ, who is the Logos, emphasized content and criticized form so many times it can't be a coincidence.
I also don't conflate unredeemed and unredeemable. I think only God knows what the "restoration of all things" is and that attempts by us to see who is in eternal exclusion are meaningless, because we are partial and our view is partial so long as we are here- as Christians I believe we should, for example, reject the death penalty to be truly pro-life, and also reject "capital punishments" of the soul in our utterances of who is condemned, lest we incur in sin, because if we pronounce a soul condemned to hell, and we are wrong, what does that entail for our soul? I believe we should strive for healing, reconciliation and restorative justice on this Earth, for literally everyone. No one harms who has no god-given unmet need and is at ease, no one kills without halving their humanity. There is no other sound view of universal human dignity, to me. You can't dignify through disdain nor exclusion.
On proselytism, my views are not precisely typical or orthodox. I believe there are many ways to evangelize. I personally don't have an individual disposition towards trying to make others hold my beliefs. On the contrary, my tendency is towards compatibilization unless proven wrong. So as for evangelizing, I think there are good ways and bad ways to do it, and I think the Church has sometimes done it poorly, organizations within it often do great work however and I appreciate it, and have been part of some.
As for my personal life, I believe in doing good and in sharing knowledge as the main forms of 'showing not telling' my moral worldview. I feel more like non-proselytes in that regard, because I know I can influence people in a positive way despite them not coming to share my worldview - and that I can learn from the Other and genuinely listen, even if they aren't Christian, without needing to be insecure that it will challenge or oppose my faith.
At the end of the day, these are just my interpretations, and I've shared them with my spiritual father; there is room for discussion and differing views on punitivism and proselytism, but I remain a full member of the Roman Catholic Church and I respect my fellow Christians and those who are not because I believe highlighting the human dignity of everybody, in our work and in our words, is the most christlike thing we can do.
My favorite, and I mean FAVORITE teaching of Judaism is that proselytizing is wrong. Itâs the one Christians have the hardest time understanding. That even though Judaism is an incredible part of my life, that itâs an incredible community to be apart of, that I could not care less about wether or not they choose to become apart of it. That conversion is possible, and converts are a welcome part of our community and no less Jewish than anyone else, but at the same time we do not seek out people to convert. In addition, conversion is a very serious decision, and the conversion process is lengthy and difficult.
Itâs because while I love being Jewish, and I love my community, I do not think that Jewishness is required to live a happy and productive life. I know that it is not right for everyone. I know that for most, the conversion process is not something they view as worth the time and effort. And that is okay. No one HAS to be Jewish. No one should EVER be coerced, manipulated, or forced into conversion.
If someone chooses to convert, it is because THAT PERSON wanted to. They saw something of value in the teachings and community. I think that means so much more than âconvert or youâre going to burn for eternity because you are a bad person.â

âCash or card?â
âCard.â
The sound of light dinging follows, the transaction completed. âHere you go, Miss. Have a good day.â
âThank you, you too.â The woman takes the small bag from your outstretched hands, giving one last smile before exiting. The bell at the top of the door rings, signifying her exit. You sigh and look at the clock, one more hour. Itâs not that long. But youâve been here since opening and the shoes youâre wearing are beginning to hurt your feet. Maybe you shouldâve broken them in more.
Itâs a quaint little cafe. Most of the customers are teenagers, college students, or overworked office workers who need caffeine to get them through the day. Other than that, you have no qualms. Of course, it does get a little annoying having to tell the newer, much younger co-workers that they canât do this or that.Â
A mundane routine of making coffees, packing orders, and ringing them up. Just one more hour.Â
As soon as the clock strikes 5:00, youâre clocking out and saying goodbye. The school is an exact walk of ten minutes, six if youâre fast. Then another ten back to the apartment. And finally, another fifteen to the convenience store.Â
Hustle and bustle is all youâve ever known. Sure, you like it most of the time. But you just wish you could get a break. Itâs always go, go, go, but never take a rest and time to yourself for a moment. But when you see that adorable smile plaster on those chubby cheeks you never shy away from pinching, itâs all worth it. âMama!âÂ
âBaby!â you crouch down and open your arms. The young boy wastes no time in throwing his body into yours, face nuzzled into your chest and arms around your neck. âHow was school? Fun?â you ask, hand rubbing his back up and down.
He nods. âMhm! Mr. Ito says I got the most gold stars out of everyone in class.âÂ
Your smile grows wistful, aweing. âWow, such a good boy, arenât you?â
You carry Koji into your arms, starting the walk back to your very humble apartment. He chatters innocently the entire trek, with you occasionally adding on or asking questions. His soft white hair pokes at your cheek, to which you straighten down with one free hand. Itâs days like these where you wish you could just lounge at home with him, basking in his sweet innocence. But while most people are ending for the day, youâre barely starting your second half.
You feel the self-deprecating thoughts fill your mind like a virus while stationed near the light, waiting for the pedestal symbol to indicate. Your grip tightens around your son slightly, as if anchoring yourself to reality and reminding yourself youâre doing it all for him, and to keep going for him.Â
Itâs hard, yes. But so is parenting.Â
The symbol comes on and you walk, seeing the building of your complex in the distance. Forcing any lingering negativity away, you clear your throat. âSo, what did you learn today, baby?â
Koji looks up at you. âWe learned how to add! I helped Mina.â
âThatâs very nice of you.â
He giggles bashfully, leaning into the kiss you place on his cheek. Eyebrows raising as a sudden memory hits him. âOh! And Mr. Ito said Dad Appreciation Day is next month. Thereâs gonna be food and music.â
Your smile wavers, footsteps momentarily pausing before continuing. âOh, really?â you ask, inhaling a wavy breath of air. âThat sounds like fun.â
âMhm.â Koji nods, then tilts his head curiously at you. âBut everyone is bringing their daddies. I wanna bring Papa too.âÂ
And you really try not to make your guilty grimace visible. âI know, sweetie. I know.â
âCan Papa come?â he frowns.Â
No, he canât. But youâre not about to tell your five-year-old that the reason his father canât make an appearance is because he doesnât even know he has a son. Itâs been a difficult conversation for you. Youâre not sure when or how to have these sorts of hard ones with children. So youâve been dancing around the subject. Saying his dad is away on vacation, or fighting intergalactic dragons, or some other excuse youâve been forced to use. He believes you, most of the time. But that doesnât stop his curiosity and growing impatience.Â
The last thing you want him to think is that he has no father in the first place.
He does. Youâve shown him pictures and videos occasionally. Of, and of course, heâs an exact carbon copy of the man. From his bright blue eyes, albino hair, and all the way down to his stubborn personality. You were a little annoyed when your only child took quite literally everything from his father, only leaving him with a couple of things from youâyour nose and helpful nature.Â
âWeâll see. Papa is busy, remember?â you gently reply, walking through the parking lot of your complex to the lobby.
Kojiâs frown deepens and so do the metaphorical scars on your heart. âBut Papaâs always busy! I wanna see Papa.â
âI know you do, baby. You will soon, okay?â
âDo you promise?â
You hesitate but eventually nod with a forced smile. âMama promises.â
After leaving Koji with the babysitter, you give him a quick kiss and recite the list with the babysitter before rushing off to your second job. A convenience store.Â
Not the most savory place, mainly because you get all sorts of crazy and odd customers, but also because you are close. You hate closing. But you need the second disposable income and this is the only place that fits with your schedule. Itâs also a little more leaned back than the cafe, when there are no customers, you spend your time browsing the web for jobs.
Youâve probably sent in over 500 applications over the years, with not even half of those places reaching out. Even then, youâre not guaranteed a job. The job market is horrible nowadays and youâre living through it.
Whatever, you think to yourself as you clock in. One day at a time.
Itâs around eleven at night when you're slugging back into your apartment, lights dim, and silence enveloping the place. âThank you, Sana.â You mutter, exhausted but still sparing the 20-year-old a smile. You hand her a small envelope. âFor today and last Saturday. How was he?â
Sana thanks you kindly and grabs her stuff. âAll good, no tantrums today.â
âThatâs good.â you walk into the kitchen, grabbing some food youâve meal prepped. âGet home safe, okay?â
âThank you, Y/N. Sleep well.â
When she leaves, you give yourself a moment to slump over the kitchen island, sighing in both relief and lingering tiredness. The silence feels nice, like an old and familiar friend welcoming you and praising you after yet another day of the same routine. Youâve always loved routines, but you canât help but crave at least some sort of spontaneity. Putting the tupperware of chicken and rice into the microwave for a minute, its light humming makes you zone out. The conversation from before with your son ringing in your mind like a very annoying bell.
Soon, images of his son, your ex, flood your mind. An old fluttery sensation residing in the pit of your stomach, your body suddenly feeling all too warm for your liking. Your fists clench to stop their light trembling, shaking your head free of him.Â
Not now.
You stop the microwave at one second, before it makes that obnoxious beeping and wakes your son. There are two chairs at the small dining table, you sit at one of them and eat your now warm meal. Youâve started meal prepping after one too many missed meals and a few incidents where that light-headedness and blurred vision caused you to faint. Luckily, you were alone when that happened. Unluckily, you were alone when that happened. Nursing a few bruises to your forehead after making contact was not a fun time.Â
You take time to eat, in no particular rush. Although you know you should be getting ready for bed soon for another early day tomorrow, your body doesnât move. Either consciously or subconsciously. The end of the day is when you find yourself attempting to unwind and detach from the dayâs events. But, the stress of unpaid bills, debts, and worry for the future always find time to crawl back.
Itâs exhausting, extremely so. Sure, youâre an adult and this is normal. But donât you deserve at least a little bit of time when you donât have to worry about anything? It feels like every waking second your mind is working overtime, your body in a constant state of motion. Itâs worn you down completely over the years. But you have a son who needs you, so you suppose you shouldnât be feeling pity for yourself.
This is what parenting is all about, isnât it?
Making sacrifice after sacrifice for your child. However, when you feel yourself sinking deeper and deeper, slowly losing more of yourself, what if thereâs nothing left to sacrifice in the first place? The eviction bill from this morning taunts you as it lays upright in front of you in the middle of the table.
Itâs then do you think, no, you do have one thing left.Â
Koji.
If Kojiâs gone, then you really have nothing left. Thereâs no reason to live if that happens. And with the path youâre going down, thatâs feeling more and more like a dreaded possibility.Â
I wanna see Papa.
Kojiâs words play repeatedly. For a second, you feel yourself resonating with your son. Only for a second. You reach for your phone and go to Google, typing in a name that still haunts you. Youâre barely three letters in before his name appears and youâre clicking.
A smiling image fills your screen along with other general information.
For some unknown reason, your breath hitches. You feel like heâs almost staring at you, smiling at your pathetic predicament. Grip tightening around your phone, swallowing down an unexpecting lump, tears fall from your eyes and onto the phone screen.
Why youâre crying, you donât know. It could be many things, but you wonât address that right now.
Gojo Satoru.
The father of your child, your ex of 4 years.Â
You rarely look him up, almost never. Only in desperate times when you feel yourself drowning and needing some sort of comfort. Itâs stupid. You havenât been together or even seen him in seven years. Not since you ended things with him. Not since you felt his hands roam your skin, whispering sweet words.
He didnât even protest or question why. Almost like he knew your breakup was inevitable. Youâre not sure if that hurts more.
Youâre twenty-eight now. But while your life still feels the same from when you met Satoru at the ripe age of seventeen, youâve reached a plateau. But him? Heâs thriving, of course. Making a name for himself, as an heir to one of the biggest conglomerates in Japan, the Gojo Group.Â
Youâre happy for him. But where is that happiness for yourself?
You feel a little, no, a lot jealous. You always were of Satoru. Being given everything he wants without much thought, never worrying about money, and a stable home life. Youâre extremely jealous of that bastard.
But right now, jealousy isnât in the picture. Itâs your sonâs father. And if you want to keep your son, give him everything he wants, that starts with one person.
Letting him meet his father.Â
âHoney, do you like your pancakes?â you ask your son whoâs currently scarfing down his plate of breakfast. Adorned in an adorable shirt uniform shirt and some little black trousers. He hums back excitedly with a muffled âyes, mamaâ. With a chuckle, you dry up the rest of the dishes, then your hands. Dropping him off at school is the first thing on your agenda, as per usual.Â
The walk to his school is a familiar one, wanting to get your son knowledgeable with the route so when the day comes that he needs to walk him himself, heâd know his way back. You pass by other kids and parents, some children yelling bye as they step onto the school grounds, with others giving their children long-lasting hugs.
You walk until you reach his door, his teacher, Mr. Ito, standing outside and greeting his students as they enter. When he makes eye contact with Koji, he smiles a bit wider. âGood morning, Koji.â
âGood morning!â your son happily replies, waving up at his teacher. With one final hug and kiss shared, heâs running in to already begin talking to his friends. Standing back up, you see Mr. Ito already looking at you. And you especially donât miss the way his eyes not so subtly rake up and down your figure. You clear your throat. âGood morning.â
He meets your eyes again. âGood morning, Y/N-san. How are you today?â
âGood, and you?âÂ
âVery good.âÂ
The way his tone is almost causes you to visibly shiver, brows furrowing slightly in discomfort. One of the things you dislike the most about Kojiâs school, his teacher. Although he hasnât outwardly done or said anything inappropriate, youâre a smart woman. âThatâs good. WellâŠhave a nice day.â Doing anything you can to quickly end this dreaded conversation, but still wanting to maintain a level of politeness.Â
Youâre about to turn on your heel and leave when he calls out. âAh, Y/N-san?â
Damn it, what now? âYes?â you turn and look at him.
The distance between you reduces as he steps a little closer. âI have some concerns regarding Kojiâs behavior in class. Would you be available to set up a conference anytime this week?â
âBehavior? Has he been misbehaving?â You did not expect that.
âWell, itâs complicated. He has some trouble listening as talks when he shouldnât. Iâd like to nip this in the bud before it grows out of control.â Mr. Ito cooly replies, smile looking more like a hidden smirk. âSo, will you be available?â
You hesitate, not really. With your two jobs, you barely have time for yourself, let alone your sonâs teacher. But if itâs regarding a behavior problem, then do you have any choice? âI think Iâll be free this Saturday. Weekdays are very hectic for more.â
He nods. âThatâs fine, we can grab coffee.â When your head tilts slightly, he adds on with a chuckle. âAnd discuss Koji over coffee. On me.â
Right, of course. You know what this is, but just think about your son. Thatâs the priority. âOkay, 8 am at Latte Lounge sound good?â
âSounds excellent, Iâll see you then. Have a wonderful day.â
With a simple nod back, you turn around and finally leave. Practically feeling the way his eyes shamelessly check out your behind. A frown inevitably grows on your face, why wouldnât it? As long as this man doesnât try anythingâŠmore, you should be fine. And if he does, 1) youâll be in public, and 2) youâll tell him straight up.
Whatever.Â
âPizza or teriyaki?â
âPizza!â
âOf course.â you chuckle and put the frozen pizza in your cart, your son clutched onto your right hand after announcing he can walk on his own because heâs a big boy. The grocery store isnât crowded during this time of day. Rightfully so. Itâs 7 pm on a Tuesday, most people already cooking dinner by now. You always grocery shop at this time, your son appreciates it too. Thereâs been a few times when you both got quickly and very overwhelmed with the bustling nature of the grocery store on a weekend morning. Currently, youâre moving through the snack section now, picking up a few of your and Kojiâs favorites.Â
âMama, can I pick a cereal?â Koji asks and points to the cereal aisle next over. When you nod, he happily runs off. You still however make sure to look over at him frequently when picking up and putting down a few snacks.Â
You reach up to grab a pack of Hello Panda, the pink and chocolate ones, before a hand beats you to it. âOh, Iâm sorry.â As soon as you look over, you and the stranger meet eyes.Â
Immediately, thereâs a silence that falls over you two. Eyes each blown wide in shock.Â
Oh, youâve got to be shitting me.
Just your luck. As soon as the stranger speaks, a strange nostalgia fills you. âY-Y/N?â
It almost sounds weird coming from his lips. Your friendâwell, ex?--friend gets out. He still looks the same, just moreâŠmanly.Â
â...Suguru, IâIâm⊠surprised to see you.â you awkwardly laugh. Reunions were never easy.
âOh my god,â Suguru breaths out, shaking his head with a faint smile. âWell, shit. I mean, how are you? You..you look good.â His eyes move down your figure in an appreciative way.
âThank you, Iâm good. How are you? Your hair is longer.â you motion to his sea of black, healthy locks. â âM a little jealous.â
He laughs with you, the sound reminding you of old times. âYeah, been working on it. And Iâm good.â
Another pause is permitted, as if you two arenât very sure what to say to one another. Well, in all honesty, it has been seven years. âWell,â he clears his throat and puts his hands in his pockets. âWhat are you up to?â
âOh, you know,â you glance down at your cart. âJust some shopping.â
He also looks down, head tilting slightly. âAh, right.â With a nod, he juts his head toward the direction of the kidâs toothpaste. âJust for one?â He laughs, joking of course.Â
You mentally curse yourself, putting a pack of cookies on top of the toothpaste to hide its already revealed existence. âUh, yeââ
âMama! I want this one!â Koji runs up to you, showcasing his desired cereal.
WellâŠ..shit.Â
As if things werenât already complicated.
With Suguruâs eyes even wider than when they were staring at you, his mouth is practically on the floor when the young boy looks at him. His sharp eyes dart across his features andâŠ..
âI-is thisââ
âKoji.â you cut him off, gulping and shifting the child closer to your leg. âMy son.â
Suguru spends another good minute staring at the boy, who innocently stares back. When his eyes slowly move from the blue ones to yours, there are a million and more questions swirling in his brain. Heâs not even sure which one to ask first. But he goes with the obvious. â...IsâŠ.is heâŠ..â
You nod uncomfortably.Â
He lets out a breath he didnât even know he was holding, hand running through his hair. âHoly shit, I meanâŠ.holy heck.â
Your lips purse, putting Kojiâs cereal in your cart before picking him up in your arms. âKoji, this is Suguru. Say hi.â
âHi.â Koji childishly smiles at the older man. âAre you Mamaâs friend?â
Suguru spares you a glance. âUhmâŠyeah. Yeah, kid, I am. Nice to meet you.â He then shifts weirdly, not sure if he should shake the boyâs hand, which seems too formal. He decides to gently ruffle his hair. âSoâŠhow old is he?â The question is directed towards you, but Koji answers. âIâm five!â He holds up five small fingers.Â
âFive?â Suguruâs brows furrow at you. Itâs surprising how quickly you recognize that scolding look of his. âHave youââ
âNo.â you once again cut him off, shifting Koji to your hip. âI havenât.â
âWhy?â
Thatâs a good question. One you know the answer toâŠslightly. But with Koji looking between you two curiously, you canât exactly say why. At least not here. âIâŠ.I justâŠhavenât.â
Silence.Â
You can feel Suguru regarding you with many emotions, but the main one is confusion. He bites his lip as he thinks over how to react properly to this situation. From the looks of it, Koji is just as clueless as him, maybe even more. âJesus Christ, I donât even know what to say right now.â Heavily sighing, he looks back at Koji, then you, then Koji, then finally you. âYouâre going toâŠright? I mean, he deserves to know, Y/N. Youâve justâI mean, come on.â
Thereâs not much of a response to that, much to his expectation. You always used to do this when you were guilty. But Suguru has always been the more⊠empathetic of the two. âLook, IâI know youâre probably going through your own things, butâŠâ
You look at him again, remorseful. His lips purse and with a heavy sigh, he takes a card out from his pocket and hands it to you. âHereâs my business card, it has my number. We lost your old one, so.â
Your hand reaches out to take it, examining the words, Rising Futures Foundation. "Building futures, one child at a time.â You meet his eyes again, forcing words out. âOkayâŠthanks.âÂ
âNo need,â he waves you off, taking down the two Hello Panda boxes and putting them in your cart. âIâm sorry, I have things to do right now, but pleaseâŠgive me a call, okay?â
With slight hesitation, you nod. He mirrors you before focusing on the child again, a smile forming. âSee you, buddy.â Suguru pats his shoulder lightly before walking away and away from your vision.
Your mind is being overrun, body feeling stiff and stuck, unsure of how to process what the fuck just happened. No doubt heâs about to tell his best friend. Then said best friend will find you and Koji. Then maybe heâll try taking you to court for hiding his son for five years. Youâll obviously lose because you have no lawyer and Satoru has the best. Your son, your one and only, your sole happiness will be taken away from you and youâll be left alone to rot in anguiâ
âMama?â Kojiâs small hand is put to your cheek, stirring you from your mild comatose state. âAre you okay? You have tears in your eyes.â
âWhat?â Raising your hand to your eye and sure enough, you are letting loose some tears. âNo, no, Mamaâs okay. Iâm not crying, justâŠjust tired.â
But with growing age, so is his perception. âAre you sure? Did your friend make you cry? I donât like him then.â
Oh, how sweet. You smile, head tilting. âNo, baby. Donât say that, okay? Mamaâs fine. I promise. See? Iâm smiling. Wanna smile with me?â
Like clockwork, he follows your emotions and smiles, giggling. âYeah, I wanna smile with you. I like smiling with you, Mama.â
âAnd I like it when you smile with me too.â
Maybe, this isnât too bad. You were just thinking that you want Koji to finally meet his dad. So, this is good. This ensures a meeting. But, it also ensures a deep-rooted, most likely bad confrontation that will take place between you two. Why wouldnât it? At least youâll be able to prepare yourself now, mentally.Â
You can imagine the harsh words he might say. The raised voices and brutal questions about how you can do this to him and so on. In hindsight, you deserve it. What kind of woman does do this to a man? Children are supposed to be bundles of joy, not hidden secrets. Of course, thereâs the lingering worries of what legal action Satoru, or his family, might try to take.
That would quite literally fuck you over so hard.
ButâŠmaybe Satoru will go easy on you because of your past. You really donât know. This situation is messy as fuck and itâs mostlyâa lotâbecause of you. You have no one to blame but yourself. Hopefully, heâll take pity on you, even though you hate when others pity you. Itâs different when it comes to him, the father of your son. It always has been and it probably always will be.Â
Honestly, youâre a little relieved that you ran into the best friend of the man than the man himself. Now that wouldâve been bad.Â
The sounds of skin against skin fill the room, mixed with heavy grunts and airy moans. The headboard repeatedly hitting the wall plays like a drum, the lights dim and the view of the dark city landscape is exposed. Satoruâs gripping the womanâs hips, leaving crescent-shaped indents in her fair skin. Her constant mewls sound heavenly in his ears. âGod, you feel soâŠ.goodâŠâ
âS-satoru!âÂ
âYeah, say my name. Just like that, baby.â
He presses a firm hand down on the small of her back to keep her arch in place, feeling his release invade her warm walls, filling her with a lovely warmth. She clenches around him, moaning out once more as she finishes with him.
He collapses against her back, his heavy breaths tingling her ear. âBaby, that wasâŠso goodâŠâ she croaks out.Â
Satoruâs mind is fuzzy, vision blurring slightly. He hums in response and leans back up to pull out, discarding the heavy condom with his load into the trashcan beside the bed. âStay.â With a small pat to her hip, heâs forcing his limbs out of bed and to the connecting bathroom to grab a warm rag. Aftercare. Although most of the time, he really canât be bothered to do something like this. Cleaning her up feels like a chore sometimes, but the last time he voiced that opinion, it led to a huge argument between the two.Â
In just a few minutes, theyâre both cleaned and changed. Wearing his sweats low on his hips while she indulges in just one of his oversized shirts. Another small pet peeve he has. And another thing he must keep his mouth shut about. âWhat time do you have to go into the office tomorrow?â Himari asks, snuggled up against his chest, dainty fingers tracing circles along the firm muscles.Â
âSame time as always,â he sighs, grabbing the TV remote and putting a random show on. âYou know that.â
âI know, butâŠcanât you just call off tomorrow? Please? I wanna spend the day with you.â
When he looks back down at her, sheâs frowning. A small tug is pulled at his heart and before he knows it, heâs pulling her closer and placing a gentle kiss to her hair. âCanât, baby. Maybe this weekend?â
Satoru can feel her ready to protest again, but the sound of the front door downstairs being opened and closed interrupts the moment. Followed by the familiar voice of his friend. âSatoru! You here?â
Satoruâs brows furrow slightly. A small grunt falls from his lips as he maneuvers Himari off his chest, standing up and walking out. He looks down the staircase and sees Suguru staring up at him. âWhat do you want? Iâm sorta busy.â Himari comes out and hugs his waist, proof of his so-called âbusynessâ.Â
Suguru holds back an eye roll when the woman gives him a look, focusing on his best friend. âNeed to talk to you. Privately.âÂ
âFor what?â
âItâs important.â
âSo just say it now.â
âDamn it, Satoru. Just come down and kick your friend out.â
âGirlfriend.â Himari corrects with a scowl.
âYeah, sure.â Suguru waves her off and motions for Satoru to come down as he walks into the manâs kitchen.
Sighing with his eyes closed, he turns to Himari. âSorry, babe. My driverâll give you a ride back.â
Once again, she frowns. âBut Iââ
âPlease.âÂ
His bottom lip pokes out in a small, but convincing pout. âIâll see you later, mkay?â Satoru reaches his thumb out and brushes it along her cheekbone, which he knows sheâs weak for. Confliction and hesitation dance in her eyes but she concedes. Gathering her purse and shows, she gives Satoru a dramatic kiss on the lips before leaving.Â
âFinally,â Suguru huffs from the kitchen, swirling a glass of whiskey. âI thought you guys broke up.â
âIt was a break.â Satoru grumbles, walking over to stand across from his friend, snatching the glass out his hand and sipping. âAnyway, whatâs so important you come unannounced for and demand my sweet company to leave?â
âThat woman is not sweet.âÂ
Satoru smiles and shrugs, âShe tastes it.âÂ
A groan is heard from Suguru, eyes rolling before he shakes his head. âLook, you should sit down.â
âThat good, huh?â he plops down in the nearby chair and leans back, arm resting against the back of it. He nods. âAlright, shoot, baby.â
Suguru takes in a deep breath and steels himself for the more than likely hard conversation. A part of him feels like heâs intruding, like itâs not his place to reveal such a thing to him. But at the end of the day, itâs his best friend. And you, wellâŠheâs not exactly sure if youâre still friends or not. âWhat I tell you might sound crazy, but I need you to promise youâll stay calm until Iâm done speaking, got it?â
Satoruâs brows raise in mild astonishment, seeing Suguru get all serious like this is quite amusing. âOkay, I promise.â He shrugs again. âCanât be that bad, right? No oneâs hurt.â
Not yet, Suguru says to himself. He claps his hands together, mulling over how exactly to break the news. âSo, I came across an old friend today.â
âOh yeah? She cute?â Satoru swirls the alcohol in his glass.
Suguru holds back another eye roll. âYeah, she is.â
âNice, man.â the white-haired man chuckles, head tilting. âSo what, did she make a move on you or something? Now thatâs crazy.â
âIâll have you know, Iâm actually quite favorable amongst women.â
âAre you now?â
âListen, you ass. No talking, just listening.â When he doesnât get a response back, he takes it as a sign to continue. âAnyway, I saw an old friend. AndâŠshe had a kid with her.â Satoru nods slowly, already getting lost on his this information is even remotely crazy, or relevant to him. But he stays shut, deciding not to face another one of Suguruâs mini-lectures. One more deep breath is let out from Suguru and he gets to the point. âIt was Y/N, she has a kid.â
A small beat of silence follows as Suguru gauges his best friendâs reaction. He doesnât look like heâs flipping out, but he doesnât show much emotion either. Confusing Suguru, he waits for the inevitable lash out. âWho?â Satoru ends up asks.
His best friend knits his brows, trying to see if the other man is serious or not. When his expression doesnât change, he replies. âY/NâŠâ he speaks slowly. â...your ex?â
Still, no emotion. But his grip on the glass does tighten. âAnd she has a kid.â Suguru reiterates, almost in nervousness now.Â

64 / 4.1k / soap soulmate au, final part
...
"You doing okay?"
Hearing Gravesâ voice knocks what little breath you had out of your lungs. It's been months, but that's him. Your old boss. You never thought you'd hear his voice again.
"I've been better," you say finally. "Been awhile."
"Yeah, it has," he says. "Wish you'd've called me to catch up sometime, rather than under the circumstances. You don't sound too banged up. They treat you alright?"
"I'm fine."
"I didn't ask how you feel. I asked if they roughed you up."
You feel your own temper shorten in response. "I need you to call KorTac off."
There's a pause. You can imagine his frowning face, the way he's thinking that one over. "I'll take that under advisement," he finally says, but you can tell he's not going to do what you ask of him. "Puttin' me in a predicament here, kid. You're giving those boys a hard time, and here I thought I was helping you out. Paying your bail, so to speak."
"Itâs more complicated than that."
"Always is. Letâs just have you dropped off back on base with us. You can clean yourself up and weâll talk."
He waits for your crisp yes, sir, but it never comes.
He speaks again. "You got somewhere else to be?"
"I can't go back."
"Can't or won't? You got something you ain't tellin me, soldier?"
"I said I can't go back. And I'm not your soldier anymore. You're not my boss. I don't work for you."
"You know Shadows don't leave one of our own behind. Not to rot in some CIA prison cell. So lose the attitude," he says, voice like iron. "This ain't a good time to play games, kid. You're comin' back with me because I spent a pretty penny on you. You owe me. You have your personal business, fine. Come on back to base and let's talk this out face to face before you go makin' any hasty decisions."
You're so frustrated it's hard to form words. You should be grateful. You know that. Graves doesnât pretend to care about his men. He cares enough to lead from the front. But you met your soulmate, and you canât act like it didn't change you. You need to make things right. You also canât exactly tell Graves you kind of sold him out.
"Hey. Focus up." He doesn't raise his voice to a command. Still, the order is in his voice, and you have been long trained to follow your commander's orders. Then he sighs. "What happened to you, kid?"
"You betrayed the 141. You killed innocent people in Las Almas, looking for them."
You can almost hear his jaw working behind his clenched teeth, the muscles in his face tight. He does not allow this kind of disrespect. "You think I like what I had to do? General Shepherd's orders were clear. We followed them. 141 did not." He huffs out a sigh. "I didn't enjoy it. But that's the job. You of all people know that."
You swallow. "You told us they were our brothers. You killed innocent people, Commander. Johnny said he saw you do it--"
"Johnny?" Grave's voice rises. "You on a first name basis with Soap now?"
"We all know what happened in Las Almas," you retort. Your skin goes hot at the way he says Johnny's name. "I won't work for Shepherd anymore after that. I won't fucking do it."
"Don't pull that with me." The warning is written in his voice. This isn't like you. To the Shadows, youâre calm. Cold. You don't lose your temper. You don't talk back. Especially not to Graves. "You think you can walk away at the drop of a hat just because you don't agree with an order? It doesn't work like that. You follow an order, even if you don't like it, even if it pisses you off. You don't get to decide what you think is right or wrong to carry out. When I give you an order, you follow it. That's your job. Your loyalty is with me. Not with the 141."
"I did my job."
"Then act like it," he snaps. "Stop acting like I'm some evil bastard out here. I made the only choice I could. Task Force 141 was not supposed to be there. They knew my orders, and what did they do? They came after my men, went behind my back, screwed us over. We did what we had to. You wanna be pissed at someone? Be pissed at them."
You glare down at the ice, but say nothing.
"You know I'm right." He knows you. He's getting to you. "And you know what else I find interesting? You don't seem a bit surprised to hear me alive." His voice is too casual and sharp as a knife. "Didn't you get the memo? Did no one forward you my obituary, soldier?"
You stiffen. You're not supposed to know he's alive.
"You're an awful liar. Always have been." He pauses for a long moment. "It ain't easy, surviving against the 141 if they want you dead. You know how I managed it, soldier?"
Yes. "No,â you retort. âAnd stop calling me that. I'm not your soldier. I don't work for you anymore."
"The hell you aren't. Maybe you're not on the payroll anymore, and maybe you're no longer under my command, but once a Shadow, always a Shadow. That makes you my responsibility. And my goddamn headache." Something shuffles on the other end of the line. "You know exactly what I'm willing to do to keep one of my Shadows safe. But if you're so keen on turning yourself in, fine. I'll have you in front of Shepherd's desk first thing tomorrow. Is that what you want? You know Soap and Ghost put Shadows in the ground that night in Las Almas."
"Shadows tried to put Johnny and Ghost in the ground first."
"This isn't about who shot first. This is about you." His voice is dangerously low, but he keeps his temper in check. Then he huffs a laugh. "You keep callinâ him Johnny. Makes my brain itch." Johnny MacTavish. John MacTavish. Yeah, that's it. "I'll be damned," he mutters.
You touch your exposed soulmark compulsively as if to hide it. Most soldiers hide theirs, but yours has always been tough to cover up. He's seen it more than a few times.
"Got you right out from under my fuckin' nose."
Your stomach tightens. You feel too exposed, like suddenly heâs putting the story together--how 141 got in.
"Shoulda known. Shoulda known. You know the military has a registry for this shit. There are rules. What's wrong with you?"
"I made a mistake," you mutter.
That might be the funniest thing he ever heard. And he's heard some good jokes. "You don't make mistakes, kiddo. You never have. That's not how I trained you." He's right, and you know it. "But hey. Guess it's true what they say about it."
"What?"
"Soulbonds. Make you take your best-laid plans and raze âem. Full scorched earth.â
âThis isnât about that. Iâm making this decision on my own.â
âYou think?â He takes a puff on his cigarette. âI donât. I don't blame you, either. You sure as hell fought it as best you could. Didn't give in to save your own life. If that's not the soulbond making your decision for you, soldier, I don't know what is."
You look up at the sky. For all the time you spent working with Graves, that past version of you might as well be dead. Maybe thatâs the grave youâve been digging. "I can't work for Shepherd anymore. I won't do it."
"You're a good soldier, 86. You were loyal. I still think you're loyal, even if I'm not who you're loyal to," he finally says. His voice is still calm. It doesn't make you feel any better. "You know if you choose to walk away from this, the next time we meet might well be as enemies."
"Then I guess we won't meet again, sir."
He says nothing. Then he lets out a long huff. You really are going to do him dirty. You can hear his scowl. "That's a damn shame, kid. But you have more of a spine than I gave you credit for," he says. There's a tone of reluctant respect to it. That's as close as you're going to get to a compliment from him now. "You're a loose end, then. You'd best stay well out of the way. Mine and Shepherd's. I hope you're not making the wrong choice, 86," he says quietly. "I really hope you're not."
"Itâs out of your hands now. And pay KorTac," you add. "Pay my squad. They did their job."
That makes him scoff. "Now why would I do that? You might be a traitor, but you're still my investment. You were worth more on my payroll than theirs, and thatâs a fact I intend to maintain."
"You owe me," you remind him.
"Don't push your luck," he warns. "You're an asset. You donât get the privileges of rank anymore. But, well..." He sighs. You imagine him with his heels kicked back on his desk, cigarette in hand. "Iâll tell you what. Iâm in a charitable mood. I'll pay them off. I'm a man of my word when the time comes to pay off my debts. Hell, Iâll even throw in a tip for a job well done." Despite the annoyance in his voice, you don't doubt he'll do just that. "But that doesnât mean I trust you anymore. I trusted you once, and you went rogue. I let you go now, that means I expect you to keep my secrets. Don't you go singing if Shepherd puts you in a chair. You got that?"
You glance up out of the corner of your eye at Soap, whose hands are still clenched in tight fists at his sides. "If Shepherd puts me in a chair, he's the one who's gonna sing. Not me."
Graves chuckles. "You're a good soldier, 86, but you can't take on an old war dog like Shepherd. Leave that to someone more qualified."
"Like who? You?"
"As I said, you best steer clear. I don't want to hear your name again." His voice hardens, and you hear your old commander again. "Good luck, kid. You'll need it. And give Soap hell."
You toss the phone back to Horangi. He listens to what Graves has to say. Then, eyes meeting yours for a moment, he wordlessly moves out away from the river, leaving you weary with relief. It's over. Finally.
Soap watches him disappear into the trees. Then, he looks back at you, alone and shivering on the ice. You look half-dead, bleeding, and your lips are near blue. He wants to make his way to you, but the ice is scarcely holding you. It won't hold him, too.
"Oi," Soap calls. His voice is rough with anxiety. "Get over here. You're gonnae freeze to death even if you don't fall through."
You blink up at him. Standing in the rising sun the way he is now, he looks like someoneâs guardian angel. Yours? You'd like very much to be wrapped in his wings.
You make your way over to the bank, but the rocky ledge up is slippery and icy. Behind you, between the ice where you're standing and the bank, there's a yawning gap. To your left, there's a bridge, but snow has already melted off the surface of the ice, and it looks thin. "There's no way up," you call. "But downriver..."
"Noâ a chance in hell Iâm going to let you try to cross that," Soap says as he approaches the edge. "You'll be swept away and drown, hen. You're not in any condition to swim, and even if you were, that river's too bloody fast to risk it."
"Then what do you suggest?"
His eyes sweep over the river once more. It's wide; too wide to attempt a jump across. The ice has fallen in, leaving it almost impossible to make it to the bank. It isn't safe. The longer you stand there, the more the ice cracks under you. He admires your guts for putting yourself on the line like that to get back to him, but damn you. His blood pressure has never been higher.
Soap throws off his pack and slings his gear onto the bank. "I'll pull you up."
"But..."
"But nothing." With the adrenaline still pumping through his system, Soap thinks nothing of the risk of the bank collapsing under you both with his added weight. The only thing on his mind is getting you back in one piece. "We both know damn well, if I was the one on the ice now, you'd already be down there trying to help me, so for once, just shut up and let me help you."
Can't argue with that.
He pulls out an ice hook--mountaineering equipment; he was prepared to climb this mission, luckily--and offers it to you.
You toss the grenade as far as you can in the opposite direction. Then you raise your hands to grasp the rope. He's holding the sharp end and giving you the handle. You try to keep hold, but as he lifts, your bloodied hands slip just as the grenade explodes nearby, too close, spiderwebbing the ice with a final crack.
You land hard, break through, and disappear under the freezing water.
Soap has never known panic faster than when he sees you go under.
He dives after you. He has to get you back to the surface before whatever air you had in your lungs gives out. Your survival is his survival.
He finds you in the rushing black abyss when your fingers hook around his sleeve. Wrapping his hands around your arms, Soap anchors you to his chest.
You come to in his arms. You're colder than you ever have been in your life. Your fingertips tingle in pain and numbness. He's carrying you ashore somehow--far downriver, thinner ice--and he ducks into an old cabin with you in his arms.
Soap kicks the door shut behind him and moves into the cabin to set you on the floor, propping your back against the wall. His hands work fast as he pulls out his knife to cut away your soaked thermal clothes and gear. You dip in and out of consciousness until he wads up a fistful of gauze and packs it into your side wound. The sudden pain chokes you. Then a wave of nausea washes over you. Youâd like nothing more than to tell him where precisely he can shove that gauze, but youâre too lightheaded.
"You with me, hen?" His gruff voice wavers. "I need you to stay awake."
He gathers you up in his arms and lifts you into his lap. It's a tight fit, wedged underneath the frosty window and between a table and an upturned stool. You register the warmth of his skin on yours and dimly realize he's stripped both of you almost bare, huddling around you to prevent hypothermia.
You soak up Soapâs body heat instantly. He's a furnace, and he needs to be, given the state you're in. He tucks you as close as he can. You're both shivering, but he doesn't care. He can be cold as long as you're warm. His broad body shields you from the drafts leaking into the decrepit cabin.
"No, no, eyes open." He tilts your face up as your eyes flutter. "Don't go passin' out on me."
You gaze up at him in your stupor. Maybe it's the blood loss, but even through your own pain and frustration, he's the most gorgeous thing you've ever seen.
"You have really odd eyes," you mutter. "Like blueberry soft serve."
Oh, you're definitely delirious. Maybe concussed.
But he can't deny the look you're giving him right now makes his stomach flip. The sight of you in his lap, your frost-scorched fingers wrapped idly around his ID tag and staring up at him like he's just pulled the moon out of the sky for you... it's the first time heâs seen you with your guard down.
He swallows and keeps you pressed against his skin. Thereâs a lot of blood. He canât tell whatâs yours and what isnât. "You're in no shape to flatter me."
You hum, your fingers dabbing idly at a smear of blood on his chest.
He doesn't move to stop you. Instead, his eyes flick down to your hand. Your fingers leave a trail of sparks over everywhere you touch.
With a soft sigh, Soap catches your wrist. "Quit it, hen."
"Quit what?"
"Teasin'. Makin' me wish you'd put those hands to other uses," he says, voice quiet and rough. It's just you and him in the little cabin. The world is far away. His thumb rubs against the inside of your wrist, trying to bring some warmth back into your skin. "You're in no shape to be feelin' me up, either."
Your head lolls against his shoulder. "Maybe it's the perfect time. Maybe we won't get another time."
Hearing you say that twists his insides into knots. He leans down to rest his forehead against yours. "Maybe you just need to shut up and let me take care of you. Don't talk like that." His voice leaves no room for argument. He tightens his grip on you, pressing you closer as if he can somehow press that into your skin by sheer will alone. "There'll be plenty of times for you to get your hands on me."
"Mm." You tuck into him tighter. You'd be mortified with yourself if you weren't half-dead from blood loss. "Sorry."
He exhales into your hair, pressing chaste kisses there.
You're practically in his lap, the two of you tangled into each other from head to foot in the space under the window. He's surrounded by the smell of you. It's a soothing presence in all that surrounds him.
He shouldn't want to touch you, shouldn't want to take advantage of your weakness--but the thought of having you so open and wanting, of you willingly in his arms, makes something in him ache. Makes the selfish parts of him scream.
"You're a pain in my arse," he says. He focuses on taking inventory of your wounds, brushing over your arms with his touch to assess the damage. "You gonnae bleed out on me?"
You shiver a little as he drags you closer by your bare thigh. "Wouldn't be the worst way to go."
"Oi," he snaps in warning. He slides his hand up your side, checking for bleeding. Itâs just as much a caress over your bare skin. He has to ignore how his skin tingles every time the curve of your body slides against his in that tantalizing way. Something in his lower belly tightens. "You don't get to tap out after makin' me go through all this trouble for you. You're livin' through tonight or else."
"Or else what?"
"Or else." He moves his hand up to the base of your throat, his large, calloused fingers wrapping around your neck and tilting your chin up to look at him. He fixes his blue eyes on yours to take in the dazed expression on your face. "I'll drag your arse out of hell and tan it until you can't sit right."
You're too weary to laugh, but you rest your scuffed cheek on his thumb, and it pushes your lips into a smirk. "All for me?"
"Aye. Hell of a lot more trouble than your pretty face should be worth."
You pull free and rest your head on his shoulder again. "Where do you live?"
"Glasgow," he says. "Not sure I should be tellin' you that."
You trace his chest around the chain of his ID tag. So many muscles. "Probably not."
"And what about you? Do I get to know?"
"No. Maybe. If we get out of here."
"Yeah? Well, you're not goin' anywhere with this wound. Bleedin' out, nearly froze to death, and still mouthin' off. No idea how to shut up and be good." He looks down at the injury, assessing how bad it really is in the dim light of the cabin. "You lost a lot of blood. I bet you feel tired." He brushes your hair off your face. "Stay awake a bit longer. The boys'll be here soon."
"I shouldn't," you mutter.
Soap doesn't miss the slurring of your words. He knew the blood loss would affect you, but he was hoping for more time before he had to really worry. "Shouldn't stay? Too late to get away from me now," he says, trying to keep his tone casual. Your skin is too cold for comfort. The gauze in your wound soaking through with blood can't mean anything good. "I donât trust you as far as I can throw you. Sure as hell not letting you out of my sight. You've got a lot to repay me for."
You try to keep your eyes open. Every blink is more sluggish than the last. "Like what?"
"Runnin' away and makin' me chase after you, for one. Puttin' yourself in the line of fire for me, second. Takin' a swim in a frozen river. Scared me to death." He presses his lips to the crown of your head, a gentle, chaste touch at odds with the possessive, dominating instinct he can feel creeping into his thoughts. You're vulnerable right now, something he should never want, but part of him wonders if heâd ever have caught up with you without this. "Aye, you owe me. First thing we do once you're patched up? We have a long talk. We have a whole hell of a lot we need to say to one another. And you'll answer every question I ask you."
"I dunno if you'll like the stuff I say," you mutter.
"Hardly matters. Youâre plenty keen on spittinâ fire at me as it is. No reason you canât keep tellinâ me everything I donât want tae hear."
Another shiver wracks your body.
Soap rubs your arms. "You gotta give your word you stay awake for me, aye? Stay here."
His radio beeps nearby. You huff. "Fine."
"Fine." He leans over to grab his radio and tries to keep an arm around your shoulders to keep you warm as he does. He keeps you cradled against his chest as he responds to Price.
"Soap here."
You don't hear the conversation. Instead, you listen to Soap's voice vibrate through his chest. He speaks to Price in hushed tones, talking about your condition and the team's ETA.
Price has a laundry list of questions, but Soap manages to wrangle them into holding off until they have everyone back on base. No sense exhausting you on a mission that's already been a shitshow. Finally, they're done. Soap lets the radio go to focus entirely on you again. "Still with me?"
"How long do we have?"
"Shouldn't be too much longer," he says. He checks your side again. The coldness of the air has soaked into the wet gauze. You shiver again. It makes something in him ache. "ETA's about ten minutes out."
You pull his lips down to yours and kiss him.
He's surprised, but he doesn't pull back--not from you. He lets you kiss him. Your taste seeps into his brain and turns all rational thought to white noise. One hand cups your jaw with a surprising gentleness, and the other slides behind your waist to keep you against his body. He's gentle--you need to be handled with care right now.
He pulls back before he loses himself in the desire to deepen the kiss. His eyes search your face, his forehead pressed against yours, his breath hot against your lips.
"You're lucky you're injured," he murmurs. "Or you'd be in a very different kind of trouble right now."
You shiver, but not with the cold. Just that one kiss has you feeling much warmer. You touch your name where it's written on his arm. Then you curl your fingers around the back of his neck and pull yourself closer. "Hold onto that thought for later," you murmur. "Give me something to wait for."
Then you kiss him again.

Since you were so graceful to deliver us that magnificent Optimus (and autobots) x Human in their heat cycle, another question arises. What are the autobots' thoughts on eating pussy? What about their styles?? Please and thank u
Good god, Iâm going to assume this is general TFP pussy eating and nothing to do with the heatverse. For now Iâll stick to the main cast and add Wheeljack/Ultra Magnus/Smokescreen when I get a better feel for how I want to write them. (also fuck making gifs, thank you for existing, Tenor)
Back when he went by Orion Pax, he was as chaste as a lily. Not from lack of fuckability, oh no. His small frame at the time made him especially cute to onlookers, but it was nigh impossible to hang around him when he was too busy working as a clerk or researching Cybertronâs history in his downtime. There's certainly a possibility he ate at least (1) valve back on Cybertron. Whose? Who fucking knows. My bet would be on Megatronus, but he wouldnât have horribly fumbled the bag if that was the case. Maybe cunnilingus could have saved their planet⊠Having, to an extent, merged his consciousness with the thirteen primes, he has gained their wisdom and become something akin to a demi-God by Cybertronian standards. Except with none of the praise, and the weight of the world on his shoulders. Anyway, letâs cease philosophizing about his nature as a Prime, what weâre looking for is how good he is at eating pussy with that extra knowledge. Answer: it depends on the receiver. Considering the size difference, he makes it work without catching your clit between his glossaâs mesh plating. He prefers supporting you in his massive servos, carefully wrapping his digits around your frame in case you start squirming too much and fall off. He applies slow languid licks between pauses, waiting to gauge your reaction in case heâs hurting you. Itâs sweet of him, but please Optimus, you need to make your partner cum else theyâll die.
Ratchet has been alive for Primus knows how many slutty millenia. Of course he can eat valves. And if he can eat valves, he can eat human pussy just fine. The hard part is dragging him away from his workstation. Donât get him wrong, he would love to bury his face between your legs, but heâs got things to do, nevermind a whole ass team to keep alive on top of manning the ground bridge and fixing whatever alien technical bullshittery Raf canât help with (seeing as the little guy only takes care of the human technical bullshittery). Heâs perpetually exhausted, and if Cybertronians had an equivalent to coffee, youâre sure heâd be downing it like a single father after losing everything in the divorce except the kids. So when he gets the chance to eat pussy, he takes his damn time with it, pressing his face against your groin for so long you think heâs fallen into recharge. When he gets to work, heâs savoring every inch of you, making a point to complain there isnât enough energon to mass displace and taste you completely. The size difference is especially annoying to him, but he makes due nonetheless by slipping the tip of his glossa between your folds, pushing it as far as it can go without hurting you. His engine growls from desperate hunger as he grinds his spike against the ground, grunting and scoffing against your pussy as he has to contend with the smallest sample heâs ever received. Ratchet is going to kill Megatron.
Bulkhead is a complicated case. Yes, heâs tried valves. Any wrecker worth their weight in energon has eaten valves like no tomorrow. But the point is, when you look at his jaw, things get a bit complicated. An overbite in humans is mildly bothersome for a giver, but it gets even worse when you look at Cybertronian anatomy and realize that oh, heâs going to do some major jaw exercises to stick his glossa out properly and eat you out. Thank fuck youâre so small in this case, you have no idea much easier this makes his job. To be fair, his main worry is hurting you. Optimus is careful, yes, but Bulkhead has known destruction for the vast majority of his life, not only as a career, but as a way of life. So when he finds you naked in his servos, smiling up at him, his spike retracts into his panel from anxiety alone. If he so much as bruises you, he will shrivel up and offline. He can handle humans just fine, but during interface? He already has to take a breather before he tries anything in the Cybertronian equivalent of a panic attack. His cooling fans are screeching, and if he could sweat, heâd be causing a major flood in Nevada and all its neighboring states. In conclusion, yes, he can eat out. Not perfectly, but he puts in some valiant effort thatâs sure to pay off sooner or later.
At first glance, you may exclaim âWowzers! Bumblebee doesnât have a mouth! How can he eat pussy without glossa or lips?â â well guess what! Take a vibrator and stick it between your legs. Thatâs Bumblebee right there. They should add him as a synonym for it in the dictionary. He may not be able to lick up your juices, but he can buzz incessantly against your groin at a near illegal setting until you come undone. He is so proud of himself. And for his own sake, letâs hope he never got to experience valves before he lost his oral equipment. He tries to be comforting, beeping words of encouragement that you absolutely do not understand but get the gist off anyways. Chances are, heâs either helping you balance on top of his face to get the full hitachi magic wand duct taped to the floor experience, or youâre both lying down while youâre cupped in his servos as he buzzes excitedly between your legs; equal parts cute and overwhelming. You feel bad for using him like this, but he beeps reassuringly and urges you to lie back in his servos and enjoy the ride. Heâs such a hitachi toy itâs not even funny anymore. You start giving him setting levels which he eagerly follows like the boyscout he is, keeping the same vibration pace even as you start humping his face plate. You pray to Primus Raf isnât looking for his guardian, else heâs going to overhear things you would rather die than explain.
Arcee is⊠way too good at eating out. On Cybertron, she could eat a valve like her life depended on it, sucking on the anterior node and wiggling her glossa inside of it well after her partners would overload, begging her to stop from overstimulation alone. Nowadays, she still has it. With her two-wheeler frame type, she can easily access a human pussy without any trouble, treating it like the cutest minicon valve sheâs ever seen. Sheâs all rapid licks and wandering digits, stuffing you to the brim when sheâs busy torturing your clit between her lips, then circling around it as she pushes her tongue between your folds. Arceeâs a fucking menace. She leaves you a crying hyperventilating mess as you plead with her to let you breathe. Yes, sheâll take your words into account and stop at some point. Key word: some. You get a break whenever she fancies. This, or you go into cardiac arrest and she has to deal with your metaphorical blood on her juice-soaked servos, all from eating pussy too good. No one should have that sort of power. But Arcee does, because sheâs an unstoppable force. Prepare yourself from some light pillow talk after she takes mercy on you, stroking your cheek and leaning in for a kiss. You can taste yourself on her intake, and she wants you to contemplate the flavor as she wraps her arms around your squishy body in a protective hug, the blue glow of her optics dancing over your skin.

TheShatteredQueen posted in /r/AmITheAsshole:
AITA for doing whatever I can to save my people from genocide?
So obviously that title needs a bit of clarification. I (21f) am leader of a very small and tight knit minority group that's being persecuted by a very rich and very powerful man (3200m) and his family. For anonymity's sake we'll call him "Thunderbeard." He wants us all exterminated and our souls sent straight to eternal punishment, just because he has beef with our parents, my father (10000m) in particular. My father is also his father, but that doesn't really matter to him so we'll leave that aside.
We don't want anything to do with our parents; they made us solely to use as expendable soldiers, and we want more out of life. I literally diced one of them (7400m) and threw the pieces into super hell so we could avoid that. Unfortunately we only got a couple days of peace before Thunderbeard learned about us and had a bunch of his "employees" start hunting us. This was about five years ago.
I've lost good people. I can't imagine how they must be suffering right now, for no good reason. We'll all join them if we don't do something. I have a long term plan, but to enact it I need to buy us time.
Here's where things get complicated. Thunderbeard and his co-tyrants have kids similar to us, and a lot of them. Some are much younger than us, a few are much older, but they definitely outnumber us by a sizeable margin. Whenever Thunderbeard and Co need a job done, they typically send a few of the kids out to do it, more depending on how big the job is. The only reason they haven't been sent against us yet is because Thunderbeard thinks there's not enough of us to warrant it. My worry is that once he realizes he's wrong, he'll "rally the troops," as it were, and we'll be overwhelmed.
So I looked for ways to mitigate that, and happened on one that's a bit morally contentious. See, their kids are split into two groups (the criteria for which is a bit hard to follow and not really relevant atm) that have fought each other in the past. My thought was, if they fight again, maybe they'll weaken each other enough that we stand a chance against them. We've been laying the groundwork for that for a few years now, and earlier this week we kicked things firmly into motion. Barring any unforeseen mishaps, it could be the saving grace we've been praying for.
Now clearly that's not a good thing to do, I'm fully aware of that. It's already putting strain on my personal relationships. I just learned that I have a half-sister (19f) who I'd love to get to know, but she thinks I'm a "warmonger" and won't hear me out at all. It's all I can do some nights to fall asleep while the guilt eats away me.
But what else should we do? My people are counting on me to save them. We're damned even if we do nothing, so isn't the moral thing to fight however we can, even if it's sneaky and underhanded?
AITA?
StrengthAndEndurance: NTA. It's your job to think about what's best for the people under you, not anyone else. Keep your head high, don't let the guilt get to you.
FerrumMemoria: NTA. The oppressed have never gained anything by playing fair with their oppressors. In any liberation movement, bloodshed is inevitable. The ruler who does not recognize this is not fit to rule. Carry on as you have, and worry not about the judgement of history until you've survived to write it.
StargazerButch7: NTA. I understand feeling guilty, but there's no easy way out of this mess. We all appreciate the hard choices you have to make for our sakes. Keep the faith!
WaterloggedRedhead: NTA! Thunderbeard is the real asshole! Keep up the good work, we're all behind you!

hello, you can resquest scenery, TFO Orion Pax, D-16, B-127 and Sentinel wait for their Conjux femme reader to give birth to their Sparkling. (about the others except Sentinel, where they go to the surface and return to Iacon and it would be that they meet their newborn Sparkling)
TFO Chars/Pregnant!Femme!Reader [hcs]
featuring: Orion Pax, D-16, B-127, Sentinel Prime tw: pregnancy, very brief mentions of violence, slighty yandere!Megs by the end, mixture of fluff/angst. word count: ~1940 a/n: I hope I understood your request well. Feel free to correct me if I did something wrong so I can remake it.
Orion Pax.
I feel like Orion (cogless, since it's before they went to the surface) is probably that typical young dad that has no idea how to take care of a child and might as well set on fire the kitchen in attempts to warm the bottle of energon for the sparkling.
But! He is very enthusiastic about it, and he supports you in every way he can; it's just that he lacks any real experience with it. Reading in the archives about sparklings, pregnancy and how to be a good mentor is easy; the hardest thing is to actually deal with it.
There is a big possibility that you are also cogless like him, and I'm not sure Sentinel actually cares about poor pregnant miners to give them at least a one-day off. Your supervisors would constantly remind you to continue working, since there's always a big need for energon.
Orion often picks up fights because of it. Can't those big bullies see that you're sparked? You need rest and good care, not lifting heavy equipment...As usual, he gets scolded by Elita for not doing his job properly, but he makes sure that he helps you with everything. You can rest during your shift, while Orion is happily working for both of you, so you won't be reported to the higher-ups. It's a little hard, but there is nothing he wouldn't do for you.
Following my last statement and the previous headcanons, Orion desperately wants the best future for all Cybertronians. He hates the thought that his sparkling will grow up in the same place as him. No actual home, no equality, only hatred from the others. That's when he sees the opportunity to change the future, he grasps onto it.
It pains Orion to leave you in Iacon. It wasn't really his fault, though. He would have come back to you after the Iacon 5000 race immediately if it wasn't for Darkwing throwing him on sublevel 50, and the next events after that...
Orion gains the maturity he lacked, and with realization of his other past mistakes, he also understands how careless he was before. You're probably scared to death without him; he left you without a word, and now you have to only guess where your conjunx is. How stressed you will be after someone tells you that he's dead.
Just as much as it scares him and makes him angry at himself, it also motivates him for more. No matter what, he will come back to you.
The moment he sees you, he is relieved. The reunion looks awkward, his form towering over your smaller one, but that doesn't bother either of you. When he finally meets the sparkling, his own little spark, all the pain from the last battle is gone.
Orion swears to you that he will never leave you alone after today; with a new spark born in this world, there is a hope. How meaningful it is for his own child to be born the day the Iacon becomes free.
D-16
Just like Orion, D-16 has a little to no idea how to take care of the sparkling. If his best friend will be so happy to be a sire, D-16 has mixed emotions about this.
Don't get me wrong, he is excited about it just like you, but D-16 is the bot who is reluctant when it comes to going against the rules. He is not sure if this is actually the right place and time for the sparkling to be born now. Both of you are cogless, and there is no great future for you. Maybe after countless cycles ago he can get a higher position, a bit better life, but will it be enough to raise someone so young?
Even then, he shows you that he is happy. He doesn't want you to think that he hates the idea just because he's not so sure about your current life.
D-16 is a naturally strong bot, probably one of the strongest when compared to other miners. He gets extra affectionate with his conjunx, holding you close and maybe even carrying you around if you show him the tiniest sign that you're tired. He is really sweet.
As Orion drags him into the race, he begins to slowly lose his cool. His outburst in the cave after finding out about the truth is even stronger. The betrayal, pain, the sick feeling of worry about you and his sparkling. If only Orion didn't drag him into that damn race, he would have been with you, making sure that you're safe, none of that would have happened.
The frustration boils over with each step he makes. He needs to come back to Iacon, to you, but first, he has to get rid of the one who caused the cycles of pain and humiliation.
The time D-16 gets his servos on Sentinel, ripping him apart in front of anyone, he thinks it is the only way to solve everything. Only he can fix it, and only he can trust himself with protecting you.
You weren't there to see him deal with Sentinel, thankfully. It is for the best to avoid all the stress it could have caused if you saw him. Your dear conjunx is seething with hatred. Sentinel took many things from him; he wasn't even able to be there with you when your sparkling was born. D-16 Megatron will cherish both of you forever, and he will make sure to raise his little one as strong as him, so they won't live through the same events as D-16 was.
B-127
Oh, this one is a little too sad to speculate. Let's say, both of you are cogless but met each other a long time ago before you two ended up on sublevel 50. The moment you two failed to please the higher-ups and also the moment you find out that you're sparked up. What bad timing!
B-127 seems to be more happy than you are when he realizes that he is going to be a sire. A little too happy. Even though he doesn't fully understand it. You might go like, âYou're going to be a sire, Beeâ and then he hits you with, âI am sparked up??â which is kind of funny. Is that really your man?
Out of other bots, I can see being the best sire ever. Of course, he gets a little confused, but who wouldn't be if they dealt with their first child? You try to explain to him everything you know about the topic, and he quickly catches up on it.
B-127 is already thinking about the names. Does Badasstron Junior sound like a good name for sparkling? Or maybe he should practice combining your names together? Anyway, it really helps him not to get insane down here. Having you around is good for Bee's mental health, though you're not so sure how much time passed since you were demoted.
Even then, Bee shows his caring side. He does get serious when the situation really needs it, so he is constantly tied to your hip because he wants you and the sparkling to be safe. The conditions are not great, but he makes the best of it. No matter how bad it gets, he always makes you smile, even though sometimes he has no strength to keep his cheerfulness.
Bee is happy to have more new friends and to partake in the journey of finding the matrix of leadership, but he doesn't want you to get hurt. That's why (with tears in his optics) you two agree that you should stay. But hey, it will probably not take too much time. He will come back with his new friends to Iacon with the matrix; the energon will flow again, so there's no need for you to stay!
Bee doesn't stop yapping about the fact that he is going to be a sire to Elita. This fella just likes to talk and when he sees the opportunity, he doesn't miss it! Poor Elita has to listen to him how hard it is to choose the name for the baby, or how he is going to be the best sire ever once the group comes back. Ohh, did you know that he also really-really loves you? And his sparkling? Elita barely handles him, but even though she never met you, she knows everything about you.
After Bee comes back to Iacon, he almost faints. First he got a cog, then met the high guard, got a job with the government, AND became a sire? When he sees his sparkling, he feels a little sad that he wasn't there with you, but he will compensate it in no time. Every little move your sparkling makes is cheered by, and Primus have mercy on the poor bots around him. He is probably that dad who will show you the pictures of his kids...
Sentinel Prime
Being a conjunx of Sentinel has its own perks. Lucky you, no work for you! It will be too bad if you get sparked up and cogless, huh?
Sentinel is a busy bot. There is always work waiting for him, especially the oh so important ââsearching for matrix of leadershipâ thing. Even then, when he is in Iacon, there are lots of paper jobs and meetings being here and there since everything should be personally controlled by him.
One of the cons while being sparked up and being conjunx of Sentinel is that he doesn't have much time for you. By the end of the day, he always comes back to your quarters, but it's just so lonely without him! You're always surrounded by the guards, the medics, but they can never replace the presence of your loved one.
All the changes in your body don't help at all, the mood swings, the certain energon cravings in the middle of the night, so-so hard to deal with, but he's a Prime, after all, so that shouldn't trouble him that much...
Sentinel might be a little irritated with it. When you wake him up, just to ask for something Primus-knows-what-next, that will probably take hours to search for, but he has no strength to deny you. If his conjunx wants it, he gets it!
I like to think that Sentinel is probably always aware of your and sparkling's health, but in a slightly concerning way. Yes, he can miss one or two meetings at the doctor's with you, but that doesn't mean he is ignorant. Everything is reported straight to him, so if anything, he will drop his work and join you. There is also a looong track of every checkup you had, and he has a timer that counts seconds to when the sparkling is born.
Imagine how annoyed Sentinel is when he gets humiliated by the quintessons and misses the birth of his sparkling? He practically scowls when someone reports him about it and totally has to restrain himself from strangling someone on his way to Iacon, but he manages it somehow.
Sentinel's mood quickly replaced with warmth for you and the sparkling, even though inside his head, he is still annoyed. How could he miss it? When he planned everything to the last second? The one thing that keeps his mind occupied is the little one he has in his servos. He's not going to leave you two again. At least, when he still can.

The Brave (Daemon Targaryen x Reader)
Summary: A collection of first times with Daemon.
Warnings: Bastard! Reader. Daddy issues. Corruption kink. Innocence kink. Age difference, power imbalance. Poorly translated HV. Angst. Enemies to lovers (Sort of?) Happy ending. Usual warnings for Daemon (Sexual thoughts, mature language, violence)
Requested: Yes! My first after Halloween, life has been crazy.
THE FISHERMEN SAIL too early for your liking. You know it has little to do with their personal preference, and more to do with the tides. It doesnât mean you are happy about it, though.
Your job is to ensure all your ships are in good condition and ready to transport whatever those men bring home. Your mother had made a small fortune by expanding her fatherâs fleet, and after her passing, it was your turn to handle it. You preferred to oversee things personally, knowing that only an ownerâs touch could ensure the quality of service you prided yourself in.
No one loved these ships more than you. Small and old they were, but they tied you to your mother. You lacked her knowledge, and sometimes, they made you far less money than you hoped for, but you insisted on keeping them. Your siblings had not shown such an interest, choosing other pursuits.
Allyn, much more practical, had preferred to learn the trade of a shipwright. He now worked under Lord Corlys. It embarrassed you to say it, but it was him and not you who was the breadwinner of your family. Some months, if not most, it was far more lucrative than your business with the ships.
Addam worked occasionally as a shipwright too, but he didnât have a steady source of income. He was far too young to be hired anywhere, lacking the experience most lords wanted from those building their ships. Sometimes, he also helped you.
Today wasnât one of those days. Otherwise, you would have forced him to come here in your stead. With a grumble, you jumped from the ship to the dock. Everything was as it should, so you had to move to the next one.
The sunrise makes Hull look even more beautiful, the city slowly beginning to rise under Driftmarkâs watchful eyes. The white marble and ivory of the castle provide a backdrop for the goldens and pinks that color the scene. It would make you smile, were it not for the fact that the peaceful morning is ruined by every damn bell in the city tolling.
Visitors. Noble ones. By the amount of noise, they are announcing the visit of someone very high ranking.
The splash of cold water against your ankle makes you grumble more. You hated getting your shoes wet. Or your ankles. You fix your hair scarf, worried that the sea breeze will make it come loose.
You shouldnât have bothered. A harsh gust of wind takes it fully off and nearly sends you caroling into the water. The dock shakes underneath you, the ships and water agitated by the same thing. You scream, as do the rest of the sailors who are near.
As you look up, you see him. A man, with silver hair and a smug look on his face, riding atop a dragon. He is showing off, ducking low, the dragonâs tail dipping in the water before springing back up again. It is what is causing the breeze. You marvel for a second, wondering how such a gigantic beast can be so nimble.
You had never seen a dragon up close before. You are not allowed to go near Driftmark, where the Princess and the Lord and Lady keep theirs.
The few captains and sailors that were on the docks alongside you have fled. But not you. Alone, silver hair in full display, you stand frozen in the same spot you had been before seeing him pass.
The man smiles. He winks at you.
You lower your eyes and do not stop running until you are safe at home.
DAEMON SEES YOU again when he least expects it. He has looked for you in every pleasure house on this island and has not been able to find you. The brave little maiden with silver hair, who had screamed bloody murder but stood her ground on the docks when she saw him approach.
You must be of Valyrian descent. There is no other explanation for your lack of fear. You were young and comely, so he had guessed that you must be a whore. It was what happened to girls who looked like you. Men loved pretending they were either a Princess or the daughter of some lord. And so close to Driftmark? They probably asked you to pretend you were little Laena Velaryon.
Daemon would have so enjoyed to play such a game himself. His future bride was far too young to do little more than court under her parentsâ watchful eyes. If he could sneak a bit of a taste in advance, you wouldnât catch him complaining about it.
When he had agreed to accompany Corlys to oversee the progress being made on the news ships for his fleet, the last thing he expected to encounter was you.
Your laughter was the first thing that caught his attention, a sound so girlish it seemed improper among the men carrying saws and woods for the ships. His head had turned instinctively towards the sound, and it was then that he saw you.
The dress you had on was a plain gray, as it was the headscarf you wore. But Daemon would know that face anywhere. He had sought everywhere for it. You were holding a small basket, next to some shipwright. The man looked older than you, already bald. You were all smiles and animated gestures, seemingly taken by him.
The man tickled your side, and you laughed again. You handed him the basket and kissed him on the cheek.
Daemon seethed. He hated sharing. With whores, it was to be expected, yet it didnât make it anymore palatable. It was why he enjoyed taking maidenheads so much. Yet, he could ignore it if the woman was pretty or well-trained enough, like he did with Mysaria. To watch a whore with her lover, though, it was intolerable.
Whores were professional liars. You paid them to pretend to be someone they were not. But watching you with a man you truly loved would forever break the fantasy. There was no way he could believe the sweetest lies on your tongue, not when he knew what you looked like when truly in love.
Is it in bad taste to approach you when his future father-in-law is distracted by his sailors? Probably. But he cannot stop himself. Because the only thing Daemon can think of, the only thing that would make him feel better, is to bring you as low as he. Ruin your little fantasy as you had ruined his.
He marches towards where the man and you are, and gently cups your chin in his hand. The sudden interruption startles you, and you try taking a step back, but his sweet hold has turned into Valyrian Steel. There is no escape for little whores.
âI looked for you in the brothel, but you were not there.â
âI⊠Excuse me?â Your voice is shrill, more angered than panicked. âDo I know you?â
And oh, the nerve on you. The nerve to question him, as if he were just a passing man on the street and not a Prince of House Targaryen. The same nerve that drove you to stand your ground against Caraxes.
Begrudgingly, Daemon has to name the strange feeling taking place in his stomach. Awe. Admiration. You had fire in your belly, and steel on your spine. You were a truer Valyrian than many of his own family members.
They were weak. Soft. You were not. But you were still a mere peasant, and he couldnât allow you to disrespect him such.
âYou should be more careful on how you address your betters.â
You shove him, hard. And Daemon feels his rage bubbling up, and raises a hand to do something he will most likely regret⊠But before he can strike you, the man you had been smiling at steps in.
âUnhand her.â He says, voice firm. His expression doesnât waver, the same steel you have mirrored in his brown eyes. Up close, he is much younger than Daemon expected, tall and muscular from what seems like a life of hard work. He tugs you behind him.
âAnd who are you? The husband? The brothel owner?â Daemon sneers, getting in his face. Your hand comes up in between them, fragile and unadorned. Yet, you hit with strength, palm flat against his chest. Daemon laughs and grabs it between his. You attempt to pull back, but his grip is much firmer. âAh, cupping a feeling, sweetheart?â
âDaemon.â And really, things were just turning interesting. Why does Corlys have to interrupt at the worst time possible? âUnhand her immediately.â
At his appearance, both you and the boy turn an awful gray shade that matches your dress and headscarf. Fear of their liege, perhaps?
But the boyâs jaw ticks, and your dark eyes lower in a manner that they hadnât when facing him. Something else is at play here.
âI was justâŠâ Daemon slowly retracts his hand, studying the surrounding faces carefully. You, sullen, the boy enraged. Corlysâ cold as ice. Neither of you speak, yet it is clear you are not strangers.
âI do not care. Unhand her. We do things different in Driftmark.â
And the tone Corlys uses is strange, for a man unbothered by the costs of power. What are two peasants to the favor of a Prince? Why does he know them? He had never struck Daemon as someone concerned by his subjects.
And then, a piece of your hair falls out of your headscarf. Silver against a dark background. And it is then he knows it. You are no dragonseed. Nor is the boy with the shaved head.
âYOU DO THINGS different here, for certain.â Prince Daemon says, appearing at your window while you knead bread. His presence is as unexpected as it is unwelcome. It is the first time you are home alone after the incident, not Addam nor Allyn willing to risk this stranger attempting anything worse than he already has. Three days had passed, and they had considered it enough. If the man had not approached you during that time, it meant he wouldnât, right? Clearly no. He had just been bidding his time, waiting for both of your brothers to go. âCorlys's little secret.â
Your hands shake. You wished Allyn wasnât so set on teaching Addam his craft, and hadnât gone out today. Being home alone with a strange man around didnât spell anything good for you.
A quick glance at the door reassures you that it is still barred. You take a not so subtle step back from the window.
The prince lipâs quirk upwards, not quite a smile, but betraying his amusement. Does he find your fear funny?
âI wonât hurt you, my lady. I didnât mean to scare you, either.ïżœïżœïżœ His voice is gentle, as if dealing with a spooked animal. The title makes you scoff. No one has ever called you a lady, much less a Prince.
As a child, you used to watch Laena Velaryon and pretend you were her. Wondering what life would have been like if you didnât have to hide, if your father acknowledged you. Wondering what it would feel, to be a Lady and never go to bed hungry, to be surrounded by beauty all day.
You are no lady. You are a bastard girl, and you have gone to bed nearly starving more times than you could count.
As if sensing your thoughts, Prince Daemon lifts one of his hands. He holds up a package, wrapped in bright white silk. Both he and his gift look deeply out of place here, near your window. In his fine clothes, in brighter colors than you can afford, he sticks out like a sore thumb.
âAny child of mine, even if natural-born, would never have to go hungry. Your father should be doing more for you, not hiding you three like a shameful secret.â
You do not take the parcel. You merely look at him and fight an overwhelming urge to cry.
âHere.â Prince Daemon pushes the parcel through the window. âConsider this my apology for my behavior. Rather uncouth, huh?â
You open it carefully. Two smaller parcels fall from it, both as carefully wrapped.
âYou can wear the silk.â He tells you, gesturing to your hair. âAnd the restâŠâ
Curious, you peer into one of the parcels. Itâs full of cured meat.it would have cost him a pretty penny, having it already preserved for you. It is a luxury Addam, Allyn and you never get to have. Not since your mother passed.
With rushed hands, you open the other parcel. A small sack of flour, lemons, and pages torn from a book. They are all expensive things, nothing like the flour you buy at the market to make bread or the bruised fruit you get when Addam craves something sweet. You squint at the pages, puzzled by their presence.
âMix one cup of flour with⊠Is this..?â You ask him, astonished. A small smile begins to form on your face.
âThe recipe for lemon cakes. For your baking.â He smiles back. He then gestures to your hands, still covered in flour. âI hear you enjoy it. Just⊠Save me a piece.â
âThank you.â You beam at him. He gives you a bow, and leaves. You find yourself smiling like a fool the rest of the afternoon.
You cannot believe it. Prince Daemon has just given you the recipe for lemon cakes. As far apologies go, this is a great one.
Addam and Allyn go to bed with full stomachs. You go to bed with yours full of butterflies. No one has ever ensured such for the three of you.
âIS IT CLOSE enough?â You bite your lower lip, watching Daemon chew a piece of cake. His brows furrow a bit, and he lets out a small, throaty moan.
âClose enough. A tad more lemony than the one at Driftmark, but I like it.â He smiles. You fight the urge to beam. He has been coming almost daily after bringing you the lemons, but it is the first time you allow him to taste your creation.
He says it is because he enjoys the walk. You are not entirely sold, but thinking it is to see you seems a bit conceited.
âI got excited.â You scratch the back of your neck, sheepish. The batter had smelt and tasted so heavenly, you had just kept adding more.
Daemon laughs. He uses his now free hand to tug you towards his side. You love when he does that. The gesture feels very protective. He never lets you walk too far from him, or on the side next to the ocean, so you never stumble or get soaked by an errant wave.
Itâs peaceful here. He often says he cares not for the ocean, but the two of you always walk the same route. From your home, towards your ships, then back.
âWouldnât you like to go somewhere else?â You ask him, watching the waves lap at the shore. Then, feeling stupid for asking, you lower your eyes. As much as you feign blindness, you are not blind. He is probably ashamed to be seen with the likes of you. Even your father is. Why wouldnât a Prince?
Your eyes feel warm, and your vision blurs. Gods, you hate crying. You try to focus on something else. Your scuffed shoes. His boots. The sand under your feet. The urge to run away, and scream, and die from the humiliation of even asking.
Daemon sighs. He sits down on the sand, patting the space on his side. His clothes, despite their simple design, are very fine.
âYour clothesâŠâ You mumble, without sitting.
âBah, I have three other cloaks like this one.â As if proving a point, he takes it off, laying it down for you to sit. You feel even sillier at his patience. âCome. Sit down, jorrÄeliarzys.â
You obey him because there is little else to do. You have already messed up, you donât wish to make any other mistake. His company has become precious to you, a welcome respite from your brothers. Living with two boys, you are never alone. But every so often, you wish for more engaging conversation.
âI am not ashamed of being seen in your company. I just⊠I thought you preferred it here.â Daemon explains, softly tucking a stray curl behind your ear. âWould you like for us to meet in the city, instead?â
You think of meeting him in the cityâs market. Of the rumors that would sure follow, of the names you would be called. Of your father finding out. You know what it would look like to him. That you are making the same mistake as your mother did.
You are not dumb. Daemon is not here to simply plan an alliance. Alliances are always sealed in blood, and your half sister is barely old enough to be considered.
Your mother and you are different. She didnât know your father was using her. You know Daemon is using you. And you intend to use him right back, milk him for all of his worth.
So why does it hurt like this, why does it feel like something inside you is breaking?
You take the parcels he gives you without any shame. That night, as the three of you are eating a generous serving of venison, Allyn scowls.
âI donât like it. Canât you see what he wants?â
Addamâs fork freezes midway to his mouth. He looks down at his plate, as if he is truly seeing the meat he is being served for the first time.
âI am not mother.â You say, icily. The venison tastes bitter on your tongue, but stubbornly, you keep eating. Allyn is just angry that it is not longer him who is putting the meals on the table. âI know what highborn men are like.â
What your father is like, too. How they use women as if they were little more than things, how they produce children and leave them to their fates.
âAll the more reason not to allow him to take your maidenhead.â
âDo you listen to yourself?â You scoff, getting up. âMaidenheads, as if I were some great lady. I can handle it. Handle him.â
Allyn looks at you, eyes full of pity. You cannot bear it. Your eyes sting again. You hurry out of the table.
âWhere are you going?â Addam reaches forward, as if to grab you.
âTo my room. The two of you have ruined my appetite.â But it wasnât the two of them, not really. Daemon is ashamed of you, the voice in your head whispers. Ashamed of you, just like your father was. He only wants to use you, and once he has had his fill, he will discard you. Just like your father did to your mother.
Alone, in your room, you tear the headscarf he had given you to shreds. You squeeze the rests on your palm, you make a ball, you throw it against the wall.
The next morning, you have sobbed your throat raw. You still go to meet him in the afternoon.
SOMETHING IS WRONG. Daemon can tell when he picks you up that day. Your eyes are swollen and bloodshot, and your complexion an awful gray. The headscarf he had given you is nowhere to be seen, and you are back to your severe gray one.
Like a bad case of heartburn, the lie he had told you comes back to him, leaving an acrid taste in his mouth.
Daemon is not ashamed of you, but doesn't want to be seen with you either. The consequences for you would be too great. He had learned his lesson with Mysaria. The double stain would have made you a pariah, both because of your birth and because of whom you were bedding.
Because it was all that people would think about when they found out. No one would believe Daemon had yet to touch you.
He was unsure if he ever would.
You were an extraordinary girl, yet still a bastard. There was nothing to be done about it. All you could be was friends and lovers, and nothing more.
Yet, your dark eyes were so kind, your face full of such happiness, Daemon dared not to sully you. Something in you screamed at his instincts to protect, something tugged at his heartstrings when he saw your face scrunched up towards the sun, and told him to gather you in his arms and never let anything touch you.
Daemon had been like you, once. When younger. He, too, felt a lack of acknowledgement by those around you, and an urge to prove himself. His father had passed when he was still young, and Viserys had received all laurels. It would have never bothered him because he loved his brother, but Viserys had left him behind. Married Aemma. Had children. Gained the love of his people, found new friends.
Never once Viserys had looked at Daemon. No matter how hard he tried to reach for him, his brother always evaded his hand. Daemon had been left there. He, too, had stood on the shadows and feigned indifference, burning up with secret resentment.
The idea of you growing up to be like him was both appealing and horrifying. There was a sweetness to you, a naïveté that he had lacked even in his younger years. He wanted to preserve it. Shield you from the world.
Bedding you would ruin you. Daemon enjoyed playing the role of mentor, teaching you new things, helping you gain experiences you would never get as a bastard girl. Yet, you had such a tempting figure, with a mouth made for sin, and a body that begged for worship. You were a little girl, but you had all the self-possession and looks of a grown woman.
You would taste exquisite on his tongue, crumbling from his caresses. Your cunt would feel like wet velvet around him, and you would sound your sweetest when he was spearing you open on his cock.
And how would you smile, joyous and fierce, his brave girl. Some maidens cried, but not you. You were made of sterner stuff, a heart that burned brighter and stronger than the Fourteen Flames. You had stood your ground, terrified but unbowed, in front of Caraxes himself.
Such a face you had, all Valyrian empress. A sovereign nose, the fleeting shadow of your eyelashes, and a slippery laugh that always gave you an air of mischief. A face not made for sadness. It is what prompts him to do what will become either the greatest mistake of his life, or his greatest triumph.
âI was thinkingâŠâ Daemon says, watching your expression closely. âWe could go to a tavern tonight.â
âA tavern?â The surprising offering shakes you out of your sadness. Your face changes from a sad little frown into a curious one.
âHave you ever gone to one?â Daemon tugs the hair scarf from your hair, softly. The silver curls fall free, in a lovely mess. You scowl, trying to get it back, but he holds it just out of your reach. Itâs a lovely thing, to watch you give little jumps on your tiptoes, curls bouncing with the motion. âAh! None of that, now. Answer my question first.â
âNo, I havenât. Addam and Allyn go from time to time, but it sounds too rowdy for my liking.â You cross your arms over your chest.
âItâs rowdy, but in a good sense.â Daemon cannot help it. Your curls are a bit mussed, from wearing the ugly headscarf for too long. He fixes them, fluffing them up slightly at the roots in the way he has seen handmaidens do for Laena. He then tosses the damn thing into the sea, for good measure, ignoring your outraged cry. âDrinks, music, people, greasy food. You will love it.â
âI hate drinking.â You wrinkle your nose, cutely. He fights the urge to bite you. The face you make is too sweet, too tempting.
âBecause you have only drunk swill. Iâll teach you to drink real wine.â He tugs you into his side, and begins walking back into the city.
The walk to the city is awkward. Not because the two of you have nothing to talk about, but rather, because of the stares. Your silver hair, despite your simple clothing, commands attention. So does Daemonâs presence, and the arm he has around your shoulders.
He had not been wrong. This would cost you. A cost too steep for someone he sought to keep safe.
Still, you face it all bravely, as you had that morning at the docks. The two of you manage to get a cozy table in one tavern that Daemon had visited before. He calls for wine to be served, an expensive barrel from the Arbor he is sure they had kept around for years before anyone had the coin to buy it.
Itâs delicious. But when he serves you a goblet, you take a big sip and begin to splutter.
âMittys hunes iksÄ.â Daemon tuts. His silly bunny. âYou are not meant to drink it such. You ought to savor it.â
âSavor?â You arch an eyebrow. âTastes like dragonfire.â
And perhaps it's the choice of words, or the glint of your silver hair under the low light emanating from the torches, but something about you reminds him of the way he had loved Rhaenyra and admired Laena, the other Valyrian beauties in his life. They are not here, he cannot reach them. But you are.
âCome here, hunes.â His own voice sounds strange to him, low and demanding. When he calls you bunny, he is not exaggerating. Does the fox feel as wrong as he feels when becoming over his prey? Does his gums ache like Daemonâs do, with the urge to bite, to tear apart, to wound? Does he mourn the little bunny whose innocence he is about to shatter? âThere is something I wish to show you.â
You eye him warily, but get up from your chair and move until you are standing in front of him. It's not enough for Daemon. It never is. He always wants you closer, closer to hold, to protect, to own.
He tugs you between his parted legs.
âDo you trust me?â
There is a slight furrow of your brow. The barest hint of hesitation. Yet, your voice is firm when you answer him.
âYes.â
His girl. His precious girl. If you had been his, he would have never hurt you like Corlys had. Never allowed to become easy prey for men like him. You shouldnât trust him.
Daemon shouldnât be doing this, either. It is a good thing he has never claimed to be a good man.
He takes a sip of his wine, and leans towards you, capturing your mouth in his. At first, you fight him, the suddenness startling you. Itâs only when he gives your lower lip a sharp nip, that you melt into the kiss. When your mouth parts slightly, he passes you the wine.
You splutter, but Daemon holds you down, arms held by your side. He forces you to take and take some more, chasing the tart taste of the wine into the honeyed one of your mouth.
Your obedience and compliance only makes him wilder, drives him to grasp at your hips, pull you closer. Just when you begin to lean into Daemon, dutifully swallowing the wine, someone jerks you out of his grip.
âI did not think it to be true.â A womanâs voice, one he knows too well, says. Rhaenys. Her face is a mask of absolute rage. She gives you a shove that sends you stumbling before Daemon can even get out of his chair. âYou have much nerve.â
Your face turns ashen. You look like you are about to cry, or worse, flee. Daemon jumps up, and gets between Rhaenys and you.
âYou were always a whore!â She screams, her index finger digging into his chest. You let out a sob, quietly. Daemonâs heart feels like it is being wrenched from his chest. At this point, the screams have attracted all the tavern's attention. Daemon doesnât doubt that by this time tomorrow, the whole island will know.
You will be shunned. Just as he had feared.
âI am talking to you!â Rhaenys insists. You cower behind him. It only makes Rhaenys angrier. âNo, not you, you stupid girl. You, Daemon.â
Daemon feels utterly stunned. Never in a million years he would have thought Rhaenys was referring to him.
âAre you calling me a whore?â
He feels the slap before he even sees her move. His head gets forcefully turned to the side, and he hears you whimper. His cheek stings. Daemon has to blink back tears, Rhaenys has hit him that hard.
He wasnât even aware that a woman could land such a blow.
âYou dare! You toyed with my daughter and this girl as you saw fit.â And Daemon cannot even get a word in because she is too angry. He feels his cheeks reddening, and its unsure if he is feeling embarrassment at being scolded like a child, or rage at her words. âBut worry not. I will make this right.â
Rhaenys has a manic gleam in her eyes. For a frightening second, Daemon thinks he sees in her the famous Targaryen madness.
Instead of setting you both on fire, she lunges, avoiding Daemon, and grabbing you hands in hers.
âI shall not allow you to make the same mistake your mother did.â Rhaenys says, and she is gone before Daemon can answer anything.
THIS IS YOUR greatest triumph. Why, then, does it taste like ashes on your tongue?
You are wearing the finest dress you have ever owned, gifted to you by Daemon. Princess Rhaenys has forced both him and your father into complacency, and even forced King Viserys to allow your betrothal. Still, you feel adrift. Even betrayed.
What Daemon had done to you had seemed purposeful. You had not realized when he had stolen the kiss from you, giving you your first taste of fine wine, but you understood it now. Had Princess Rhaenys not been there, or had she been any less merciful, a much different fate would have awaited you.
The stink of shame that followed you around, the whispers of dishonor and the looks of distaste, would have been even more intense. You would have been ruined, known as little more than a whore. And your family no longer had the money that had shielded your mother during her pregnancies.
You had not known it. But Daemon must have. He had a reputation for taking maidenheads as he saw fit, Addam had informed you. You were a fool for not knowing, and a fool for believing he wanted something else from you.
The royal decree is read by a Maester, in front of all the Lords of near castles, the smallfolk of Driftmark and the Velaryons. Even in the first beautiful dress you own, you feel small. Out of place. The looks your half siblings are shooting you do not help you feel better.
Once the bill is read, Lord Corlys steps forward.
âDaughter.â He says, grasping your hands in his. He is cold. He is cold, and it makes your skin crawl, even when it is all you wanted as a little girl. Itâs the first time he acknowledges you, and he is not at all like the man you imagined, when dreaming as a child of what it would be like for him to look at you. Because even a glance would have been enough back then. âItâs a pleasure to finally have you join the family.â
Addam and Allyn are still in the crowd, unacknowledged. They are your family, not this man who is grasping your hands with a calculating gleam in his eyes. Wondering, as all highborn do, how he might use you. How you might serve to further his own ends.
Your brothers could not be recognized as you were. You had shyly asked Princess Rhaenys, and if she thought you dimwitted before, she had probably confirmed her suspicions. They were men, she had explained, and a threat to Laenorâs rights once your father passed. You, instead, were nothing but a girl who had sullied herself, whose honor had been compromised so thoroughly you had turned even less important in the great scheme of things.
She was helping you because you had been taken advantage of by Daemon, Princess Rhaenys had said, but also to spare her daughter from your fate. Wife to a husband that would most likely betray you and sire bastards.
Lord Corlys was just happy to have another pawn to marry off and forge alliances. Freeing his daughter from a disloyal husband was an added bonus.
Every time you heard them, your hands turned into fist, and you could barely fight the rage from clouding your expression. You had not done the thing everyone was accusing you of, and yet were being judged for it all the same. Daemon, too, did nothing to correct them. Not even when the most scandalous rumors surfaced, saying you would wed him with a child already in your belly.
You had not let him touch you like that. You were not as stupid as everyone thought. As a daughter to a single mother, you knew all about scorn and loneliness. You would never doom a child to your same fate.
The day doesnât pick up from there. The feast to follow feels just as empty, and you turn down an insincere offer from your father to be housed here. You cannot wait to run back to your brothers.
It would be impolite to leave so soon, though. Lord Corlys has thrown this feast in your honor and is making the lords and members of his household present you with gifts. You admit it is a clever strategy, to avoid having to spend money in your trousseau. Hence, you need to stay a little bit longer.
You get handed new quills and parchments, alongside a new seal for your correspondence by Laena.
âI figured you wouldnât have one of these.â Her smile is strained as she reaches for your hands. âSince you werenât raised the proper way.â It says a lot about the company you are in that it is the most polite greeting you receive all afternoon.
When it all begins to become a bit much, and your eyes are stinging after a lady said you had no grace and no manners, you decide you need to run. But when you are stepping a foot outside the hall, Daemon appears by your side.
âRather improper, isnât it?â He asks, grabbing your hand in his. You try to jerk away, but he merely interlaces your fingers together. âA lady cannot quite run around unescorted as you used to.â
âLeave me alone, Daemon.â You say, still trying to free yourself. The last thing you want today is to deal with him.
âI do not think I will.â Daemon cups your cheek in his hand, hands gentle despite the calluses on them. It was one of the things you had first liked about him. His hands were artisanâs hands, like the ones of your brothers, despite being highborn. He had seemed so different from the rest of the men you knew, back then. âNot when my betrothed is nearly weeping in her own feast.â
âYou heard all those people. I do not belong here.â You look up at him, fighting your tears. You feel like such a whiny child. What happened to you is something that only happens in fairytales, it's the stuff songs are written about. No bastard girl gets acknowledged by her father and marries a Prince.
âWho cares what those cunts think?â Daemon scoffs. âYou are above them. You always were.â
You bloom under his praise. There is no other word for it. It warms you, from head to toe, and your stomach fills with butterflies. A small smile forms, even through the tears that threaten to fall.
âThere she is.â Daemon brushes his thumb over your cheek. âThatâs my girl.â
His girl. There is nothing you would like more.
âI never wanted to be a Lady.â You lower your eyes, embarrassed at the admission. You feel ungrateful for saying it, but itâs the truth. You had never imagined a home away from your siblings. The marriage will mean you will be taken away from them, and only see them if Daemon feels like it.
You do not own a dragon, after all. And you arenât too sure Allyn and him will be the best good brothers.
He grabs you by the waist and gives a little tug.
âBe mine instead.â Daemon whispers, and when you nod, he kisses your forehead.
MARRYING YOU HAD never been in his plans. Yet, when he saw you walk down the aisle, dressed in Velaryon blue and looking awkward, Daemon was sure you were the woman he wanted to spend the rest of his life with.
You were not a lady or a princess, yet you and him were alike. Birds of the same feather. For the first time, Daemon could say there was someone who understood him.
Daemon had never been poor, nor had he been born a bastard, but he too, had lost his parents while young. He, too, was considered too wild by his brother. And he knew all about of trying to fulfill an impossible task while honoring the legacy of his ancestors.
Laena was a mere child by your side. Her innocence and Valyrian looks had appealed to him once, but after meeting you, Daemon knew no other woman could compare. There was an edge to you, beneath all the innocence and beauty. A fire that burned bright in your belly, and could not be quenched. An anger that both amazed him and scared him, and drew him in like a moth to a flame.
You would have been great if you had been born into his house. Great but terrible.
Or perhaps you wouldnât have. Perhaps, if you had grown acknowledged by your father, you would have not been the lost little girl who dreamed of recognition and slept lulled by the sea. You wouldnât have grown into the woman who got the recognition and understood she did not need it at all.
A shame that recognition had come at a price so steep. Recognition in exchange for rumors of dishonor, whispers of the shame of your existence and the shame you had brought on yourself. These cunts did not see you for what you were. Not some malicious creature, some silver tongued temptress. No. You were determined and fierce, brave and true. You honored your houseâs words. Your ancestors would have been proud.
Yes, Daemon decided. He would marry you and take you away from here, from this horrible little island where people behaved like they were above you. The cunts should be honored that you were even looking their way.
The distance might even help those stubborn brothers of yours to forget all about the way Daemon had become part of their family. When the grudge was forgotten, he would bring you back, less the eldest skewered him alive.
Not because Daemon feared Allyn. Of course not. But because killing him would be such a nuisance, and you would cry, and⊠Ugh. He couldnât stand to see you cry.
You were about to burst into tears right now. He could tell. Daemon grabbed your hands in his, uncaring he was breaking protocol, and pressed his forehead against yours.
âWe can still marry on the beach, with only Caraxes as witness.â He whispers, gently. âHells, I would prefer it. We can run still. The Septon has not spoken.â
You laugh, a bit watery.
âAddam and Allyn would drop dead, thinking we will not be wed.â
âAllyn looks like he would attempt murder.â
âAttempt?â
âI doubt he would succeed.â
âI would protect you.â You say, and it warms something inside Daemon he wasnât even aware that he had. âIf only because killing a Prince is a crime worthy of the ax, and I wish to have nephews.â
Daemon's mouth opens and closes.
âYou little..!â
You laugh, but before he can lunge and throw you over his shoulder, the Septon clears his throat.
âIf the two of you are done..?â
âJust get to the part where you handfast us.â Daemon says, giving him his best lecherous expression. âI have many things I wish to show my new bride.â
And there were. He had taken many of your firsts already, he wasnât about to stop now.
