I didn’t know what to call it before but I finally figured it out—
Bogleech has created the Schrödinger’s Haunted Narrative.
A character that is dead (sort of?) who keeps getting alluded to (but only in a peripheral way/a concept) who MIGHT COME BACK POSSIBLY (but due to the nature of their death it could also equally be the audience reading way too much into things + seeing signs that aren’t there, but because they exist as a concept of a person, and the narrative has repeatedly reinforced that believing in a concept is a large part of what keeps in alive + able to be perceived, even by things that don’t TECHNICALLY EXIST ON ITS PERCEPTION LAYER. Thus because of this universe’s canon, they very well might be persisting because of the sheer amount of people that still talk about + draw + write about them).
And I love it and think about it an unhealthy amount.
#awful hospital#text post#shitpost#bog saw the phrase Schrödinger’s Douchebag and was like you know what would be a GREAT CHARACTER CONCEPT???#and he was FUCKING RIGHT#oh my god what if it’s a bill cipher thing???#like he can see into our universe and now only exists through media depicting him#so he DOES get the opportunity to be quote-on-quote ALIVE but there’s a 50/50 chance he#has to experience that through a picture of himself tongue punching crash???#THAT’S HIS PUNISHMENT NOT BEING JOE#you only get to exist when some sweaty 20-something writes about you being in toxic yaoi with Jimmy Horse Fucker Mouthwashing

BNHA X DP Crossover HCs
After the long wait and finals, here are my ideas for all the quirks/occupations and other concepts I devised for the DP characters in the BNHA universe. This was just for fun and for inspiration towards others interested in this crossover au in general.
Tagging the people that were looking forward to this post based on the replies: @qoinq-qhost, @floralflowerpower, @tgfangirl4eva @goodfish-bowl, @whitehairglowinggreeneyedcrush and more.
Anyways, happy reading, folks!
Mr. Lancer
Hero name: Mr. Scholastic
Quirk: Bookworm
Involves his iconic usage of literature titles & quotes for swears to become abilities corresponding to the novel’s contents/themes. Course, he is limited to only books he has read and can quote accurately. Additionally, his voice gets very raspy past two or three quotes as well.
Occupation: Homeroom Teacher for Class 1- A; He’s very dedicated to his new students and teaching the fundamentals of being a pro hero and more! Course, I don’t think his chamomile tea with a wedge of lemon is enough to help him relax from his students (*cough* Danny, Tucker and Poindexter) from their antics at times.
Danny
Hero name: Phantom
Quirk: Ghost core (Ok, @coffeecakecafe had the best name for this one gotta give credit here)
Able to do anything a ghost is perceived to do. Go through walls, disappear and fly. This is a one of a kind quirk as it was obtained from Danny’s old quirk being altered by a machine his parents made that would repurpose/alter an individual’s quirk based on their past family members' own metahuman genetics.
Danny is doing his best and trying to understand his new quirk without causing too much attention to himself while doing so but it seems like its been doing the opposite as of late. Thankfully, he won’t be doing it alone with all his classmates around to help him!
Sam
Hero Name: Black Dahlia
Quirk: Overgrown
Able to create any plant that she knows the biological makeup and content of in almost any environment. However, it is important for her to drink lots of nutrient rich water and take in enough sun if she plans to create larger versions of these plants.
Tucker
Hero name: Tech Master
Quirk: Tech Core
Located on his chest/heart area is a special energy core capable of powering electronics at a rate faster than anything made-man could ever hope to achieve. As a kid, Tucker would tinker away in his family’s garage on a suit that would harness his power to the fullest extent and lead a new era of support tech in the hero world.
Valerie
Hero name: Red Huntress
Quirk: Electromagnetism (Someone I’ve been trying to find their post on my blog had posted this idea and I fell in love with it ever since)
She’s like Static Shock but with a dash of magenta/ruby lasers she can create through focusing her electromagnetism through her finger tips. She is an expert with her quirk and has the best handle of her quirk than most of her peers. She is the most frequent visitor in the support equipment workshop next to Tucker, Poindexter and Danny. It’s how she built the hoverboard she has in the show that utilizes her electromagnetic abilities for both offensive and defensive maneuvers. (Also, I enjoy the idea that Bullet is Val’s uncle on her mom’s side and is her biggest supporter alongside her dad, Damien Gray).
Jazz
Quirk: Serenity
Helps calm individuals and give them a sense of safety/security when they’re around her in a 10 feet radius. Though, anyone out of range cannot be affected by her quirk and she needs to be conscious in order to use it.
She planned on becoming a pro hero but felt her powers were best suited for her dream profession as a psychologist. She has used her quirk a lot when Danny was overwhelmed with his studies prior to UA. Course, a phone call and sibling chat over the phone certainly does the job for Danny now when it comes to preparing material for exams. (Course, its up to you guys to decide)
Dash
Hero name: Rager
Quirk: Strength Magnification
Improves his physique and stamina by a large percentage for a set amount of time. Needs to be careful of how much/long he magnifies his body or else his body will become immensely sore.
Kwan
Hero name: Rallier
Quirk: Team Rally (50/50)
Able to duplicate himself 3-4 times while being able to power-up allies’ quirks or stamina with a rally chant to help the team. The more duplicates there are the rally effect multiplies/stacks on the individual but it can lead to dangerous outcomes for their quirk output.
Kwan is the class representative for 1-A, he’s the best at the job and was more than thrilled to be the one leading his class in more ways than one.
Paulina
Hero name: Enchantress
Quirk: Charm
If the opponent is flustered by her taunts or flirting, their vision will become altered and start seeing things that are not there. It works better on men than women and the opponent can snap out of it with enough willpower or if they’re not interested in her.
Star
Hero name: Ms. Meteorite
Quirk: Comet
Similar to Gran Torino’s Jet quirk except faster and she can create an explosive impact on where she lands. Similar to a meteorite landing on earth, she also learns to use this as a long distance move by punching fast enough as she descends to create wind pressure punches.
Poindexter
Hero name: Tex (like in Tex Avery; Danny gave him the idea!)
Quirk: Slapstick
His appearance is black and white just like an old timey cartoon character as well as having the durability and cartoon powers of one. However, his quirk can only work as long as what he does with it is funny in the circumstance it’s used for. Sort of like “Who Framed Roger Rabbit” rules in a sense.
Sidney is part of Class 1-A just saying, I don’t care, this is Poindexter’s time to shine here to be the coolest/funniest person in the class. Also, Tucker’s most loyal friend/tester for new support items.
Wes Weston
Hero name: Vigilance
Quirk: Deduction
He is able to deduct people’s identities to flaws/weak points for him to use against them and exploit against problems.
Class 1-B Representative and the most annoying/terrifying person that Danny has dealt with in his life. He was able to figure out that Danny’s quirk is not his own or more so that it's not natural and takes every opportunity to state this regardless if anyone is listening or not.
Amber Mclain
Hero Name: Ember
Quirk: Fiery voice (50/50)
Her quirk uses the vibrations in her sining voice to conduct intense heat waves onto opponents or utilize to rumble the structures around here and even put out the flames from her quirk. Its like a combination of Present Mic and Endevours quirk but it leaves her with a strained or inflamed vocal cords with overuse.
Third year student or an upcoming rock star that has certainly gain huge popularity after her song “Remember” was a nationwide hit amongst the younger generation. She’s striving to be the top hero while making her next hit to become the 1# song on the listings.
Dani
Hero name: Phantwo (lol jk; unsure what her name would be)
Quirk: Poltergeist
Similar to Danny’s quirk “Ghost”, except she has the additional ability to melt herself to a slimy puddle and use her ectoplasmic slime to trap or surprise opponents.
Clockwork
Hero Name: Clockwork
Quirk: Time Keeper
Clockwork’s quirk allows him to stop time for 5 to 15 minutes and be able to rewind it in the same amount of time. It can be one to multiple objects as long as he touches them in order to interact with them.
Principle of UA in this au. He’s quite a reserved man but still manages to visit and congregate with students throughout the school during lunch period.
Flynn Fenton/Flynn Walker
Hero Name: The Green Knight
Quirk: Mineralization
His quirk allows him to manipulate the minerals and inorganic materials in the atmosphere to create into crystalized constructs that are almost stronger than diamond. Luckily, the crystals have no value so he doesn’t have to worry about that aspect of his quirk. He does have to worry about his skin becoming dried out as a result of his quirk usage.
Flynn is a third year student that loves to check up on his cousin, Danny, any chance he gets bc of the amount of work he does with his internships.
James Walker (or James W. Hausermann)
Hero name: Warden Wraith
Quirk: Plasma Apparatus
His quirk ionizes the electrolytes in the blood system into plasma. His entire body is composed of plasma giving him his skeletal appearance. He can create plasma chains, teleport from point A to B and more as long as he focuses and has enough energy at use. Course, he can have minor to severe dehydration and imbalance in his electrolyte levels from overuse.
Occupation: CEO of an infrastructure security company/Provisional License Examiner just like Gang Orca. The ghost prison guards become his backup/helpers for the exam phases. (They’re just trained stuntmen with combat or military experience for the occasion).
Also, I like to think Walker has kids in this au who are in the Class 1-A group; they’re not hard to spot they take after their father with their skeletal complexion.
Skulker
Villain name: Quirk Hunter
Quirk: Tracker
The moment Skulker makes eye contact with his target he will be able to hunt them down and find them anywhere no matter how good they are at covering their tracks. He can lock on to only one target, but he will be able to know their heart beat, quirk, be able to place a tracking/scent line that only he can see and will lead him to his target’s location. It lasts for over a day or a half.
Occupation: Skulker is known for capturing, info-detailing or “retiring” newcomer pros or specific quirk users for his clients that pay him handsomely for their targets, dead or alive. Thanks to Vlad, Danny was strictly intended to be captured alive by Skulker but sometimes he gets too thrilled by the hunt to not have a memento. Trust me, it's more of a dangerous
Nicolai Technus
Villain Name: Technus
Quirk: Technopathy
A genius in his own right, even if he’s a little crazy, with the best ability possible for a man of science and innovation. As long as he knows the makeup and attributes of the machine, Technus is able to completely repurpose or change a machine’s qualities for offensive and defensive qualities. Whenever that be for a mech suit or hacking a high tech system for entry, he’s able to do it as long as he knows what it is and how it functions. An example is repurposing a slot machine into a submachine gun that shoots coins at the target.
Vlad Masters
Name: Vlad Plasmius
Quirk: Vampire
Can do anything a vampire can supposedly do. However, he was able to manifest an additional aspect of this quirk which is the ability to copy any quirk users ability. Based on the type of blood he ingests decides the amount of time he can use the copied quirk for.
Occupation: CEO of his own hero firm, he is extremely selective with the interns he has that there is a major waitlist to be even consider for Masters Inc. Course, imagine the surprise Danny must of felt when he received an offer from Vlad right off the bat after the Sports festival.
Bruce Guiles (Bullet)
Hero Name: Bullet
Quirk: Sphyraena or Chimera Fish
Able to do anything a barracuda can do or the quirk is a 50/50 mutant quirk in which he has both the traits of a barracuda, Chimaeras and a touch of piranha from his parents being of one of these fish species hence Chimera. Bullet can do anything those fish can do overall but he can’t go too long without hydration from water. Water quality and its oxygen content also affect his abilities by a noticeable percentage but he still remains quite formidable as a quirk user.
Occupation: Captain of a coast guard team, he’s a strict military man with an amazing record of saving people from any disasters both on land and sea. Him and Walker are best buddies ever since they went to school together.
Vortex
Hero Name: Vortex
Quirk: Storm Warning
Vortex can utilize any variation of a natural disaster depending on the environment he’s in. Hurricanes, tornadoes, thunderstorms, you name it he can create it for his use. However, despite his amazing control over his quirk it is still possible for him to create these disasters if he lost control or magnify another pre-existing one if he loses focus.
Occupation: Storm-chaser/Forecaster; His control and knowledge in combating/predicting these natural disasters has led to him to be part of a storm chasing crew and they’re the best in helping disaster prevention teams evacuate citizens as a result.
Petra Eris
Hero name: Pandora
Quirk: Butterfly Effect
Can manipulate or prevent a chaotic event to happen if she was in proximity and present to prevent it to happen. Or even give a little chaos to the opponent to deal with during battle.
One of the top ten heroes and most beloved heroes in the country. She is the best strategist in any team and has a way to predict any event before they happen given the necessity of it for her quirk to work in her favor.
Johnny
Vigilante name: Johnny 13
Quirk: Unlucky
Johnny manifests his bad luck into a shadow that will latch onto opponents and cause unfortunate events to occur more for that individual as a result. However, the shadow cannot exist in complete sunlight; it can only remain if there are already shadows in his general area or it’s nighttime and its effects are strongest at that time obviously.
Occupation: Johnny is the leader of a biker gang or de-facto leader of said biker gang who loves to raise hell and helping folks that need saving whenever he’s around or is up to the task. Kitty tags along with him to help him out of jams and bc she loves him. :3
Kitty
Vigilante name: Kitty
Quirk: Lovesick
Kitty sends a smooch towards her opponent which if it makes contact causes the individual to have nausea or become disoriented for around 10 minutes. It can also have a chance of lasting longer if the individual was sort of infatuated with her regardless of gender.
Pariah Dark
Villain name: King Pariah
Quirk: Ultimate Adaptation
Similar to all for one except with the unpredictability for both the user and opponents. Pariah can manifest any type of quirk needed to defeat anyone that stands in his way both one-on-one and in groups. Course, drawbacks are the learning curve to some of the quirks and that multiple adaptions he utilizes at once will destroy his cells in the process.
Pariah is a former follower of all for one who had unique quirk that All for one augmented to help him succeed if both Shigaraki and Tomura failed in their own conquest for the world. But now Pariah has his own plans to succeed where they failed and become the leader who shapes a new world order with an iron fist.
Frederick Kingsmen
Villain/vigilante name: Fright Knight
Quirk: Burning Energy Infusion
Able to form/infuse objects with his own burning energy life force that is capable of burning or slicing through any in his sight. The sweat he gives off is what provides the material needed to ignite his unnatural flames despite it causing his body to overheat still.
Fright Knight is Pariah’s second-in-command with a loyalty to him as strong as his control over his power. Fright Knight has faced many pro-heros as he carried out the smaller phases of Pariah’s plans and most of them barely came close towards defeating or leaving as much as scratch on the knight.
Rodolfo Gonzalo
Hero name: Wulf
Quirk: Werewolf + Portal creation (50/50?)
Can do anything a werewolf can supposedly do; somehow it allows him to create portals with his claws to locations he has marked with them or visited in the past.
Wulf was abducted on by Pariah’s forces and sent into the Nomu labs for experimentation to force on another quirk and instill complete allegiance to their cause. Course, Wulf broke free as a result of that new additional quirk allowing him to escape their clutches and his previous one helping him survive the endeavor. However, he lost his memories in the process and could only remember his native language, Spanish, and his hero name Wulf.
Overgrown
Villain/vigilante Name: Overgrown
Quirk: Plant Manipulation
Can manipulate any pre-existing plant matter or create new vegetation if water and soil is present for the process or he understand the biological makeup of the plant in question.
Occupation: Pro-hero or eco-terrorist who is tired of humanity from abusing the environment from quirk battles to industries using the land for their own benefits and none others.
That’s all I have for now! I hope this was worth the wait, guys. As well as, inspire ideas for your takes with a DP x BNHA Crossover!

( you probably get these a lot but...here i am)
i've read antithesis about 3 times, i always stopped reading around chapter 66 because it was too painful, but it's one of my favorite works in fanfiction. i convinced my sister to read it (it's like...the second fanfiction she's ever read) and she's absolutely engrossed, and today is the day i finally finished reading this tragic masterpiece. (now there's a void in my heart).
what i mean to say is...thank you (for the angst, for the drama, for the comedy, for everything). i don't know what to say or even how to say it, this is such a humane and tragic story that touched me so much that i can't even formulate a semblance of what i really want to say and what it means to me. so, thank you.
oftentimes i found myself so entranced in your writing that i feel like i didn't register the best pieces of writing and identified what could be some quotes to add to my all time favorites.
by chance, do you have a compilation of antithesis's best quotes or poetic tidbits you can share with us please?
and thank you, really ♡
So, I got this Ask a few days ago, and I’ve been sitting on it and looking at it constantly.
First- no. The number of messages never EVER take away from the meaning behind them. I could receive four messages, or four hundred, and I treasure each and every one. You are an individual with completely unique experiences and views. You deserve to be treated with kindness and respect, not thrown into a list of messages from nameless people.
Reading the story isn’t easy for some people. It’s all a matter of perspective, and how we can connect with it and how we can hurt from it. I am so proud of you for finishing it, and finding meaning at the end.
There are...sections? Of the story that I am incredibly proud of. Pointing out quotes from memory is impossible based on the insane length of the fic.
So I tried to find individual portions that meant a lot to me, as an author and writer. I have a style of writing that I started to refine much further in the story, which appears often in the end. Surrealism and lyrical twist that is more akin to poetry than standard literature. Those lines are the ones I’m most proud of.
A few more popular quotes are those I still enjoy.
Truth be told, moments I actually enjoy appear in the middle and towards the end.
Ch. 36: "I could have been raised to kill Potter." Adrian tried again, desperate in his attempt to scare the man.
"You could have been," Remus agreed, with the faintest glimmer of sympathy, "And if you were, I would give you freedom to live away from expectations or requirements. I would give you an opportunity to follow what you want to do, and not what you were raised to do."
"It wasn't your fault Adrian," He repeated carefully, "and I'll tell you that every day for however long it takes for you to realize that. You weren't abandoned because of who you are. It wasn't your fault."
Ch. 37: He had never thought of her as someone with individual dreams and desires, an individual life that everyone would mourn and miss and remember.
She hadn't...she hadn't (or had she always been?) a person, in his eye. She was just an object, a possession of the wrong side…He had left her behind, left her lying in a pool of water too weak to stand or speak. He had turned his back on her and left her on the floor.
Ch. 38: The man's eyes were bulging, his hands were gasping against his torn and butchered chest.
"He is prey," Nagini simplified, "Prey are eaten."The man gasped something wetly, it sounded faintly like a plea.
What had he done. What had he done?
Ch. 40: "I know, I just...I do things on my own." Adrian paused, trying to elaborate but struggling with the words.
"Ah, I know how you feel." Remus smiled slightly, something nostalgic and yet so terribly pained, "We all have our own burdens to carry."
Ch. 40: Luna noticed, and she smiled something soft and sad."You know, I think you'd be a wonderful thestral.”
Ch. 44: She turned, opening her mouth and displaying saliva and venom soaked teeth, as long as dinner plates, "And do you, Cerastes, have anything to your name that make others cower? Or are you a hatchling child who dreams of prey far too large for his teeth."
"That's not true," Adrian shook his head in denial, knowing his face was flushing ugly with his anger. His scars itched and his eyes were burning and his nose was filled with disgusting snot.
"Are you crying?" Barty asked, sounding like he was going to burst out laughing, "as if the Dark Lord would find you useful!"
"Master," Lutain unhooked from Barty's leg, slithering across the distance, "Master that is not true,"
"It is," Adrian swallowed, a lump the size of a walnut was lodged in his throat.
Ch. 45: "That's why you wore this dress." he realized, speaking out loud as the epiphany struck him. "So people would stare at you. Instead of staring at me."
"People always stare at me," Luna offered dismissively, "I'm different and people don't like that. I think it scares them, like thestrals do."
Ch. 46: Luna smiled enchantingly, "Adrian you're good at spells."
"I'm really not," he automatically blurted.
Luna's eyes searched his, flickering from one back to the other, "Why are you arguing? Why do you think you're so...mediocre?"
"Because I am!" Adrian blurted, face feeling warm as he flushed against his will. Luna's spell faded out. She whispered it once more, squinting into his face as if looking for something in particular.
"I don't think you are," She confided, "I think you're brilliant."
Ch. 46: Adrian's throat moved three times as he nervously swallowed, "I...I'm not good enough n-"
"I'm afraid you're going to do something stupid for the approval of someone that doesn't matter."
Ch 50: "I tried, but the little demon went savage on Mundungus again, stabbed him with a fork and looked right happy with it." Sirius grimaced.
Ch. 50: "How was your summer?" Luna asked curiously. "You look terrible."
"You know, most times you're supposed to compliment me first." Adrian dryly commented, "It's wonderful to know you're so sweet."
Luna shrugged, "You look like something's eating you."
Ch. 50: Skylar's jaw flexed, twitching as he refused to look away from the window, "Cedric really...I saw Cedric die. I saw him die, and you saw someone die, right in front of you, years ago."
"I was young," Adrian swallowed, his throat felt dry, "I barely remember it."
Skylar gave a single bark of laughter, bitter and sharp, "You don't- you don't just...just forget about it."
"Yes you do." Adrian blurted, not even hearing the slightly pained whine in his voice.
Skylar looked haunted, "I...I remember his eyes. They...Merlin, his eyes."
"I don't think I'll ever forget it," Skylar admitted quietly, "What Cedric looked like. Laying there, on the grass. He, he was just...alive, and then… and then he wasn't."
"It wasn't your fault." Adrian spoke, his voice a hoarse whisper.
Ch. 54: “You’re not unlovable, silly.”
Ch. 56: “I could set this entire room on fire, Adrian mused quietly. “I could burn this entire house down and kill you. burning people smell a lot like burning meat.”
Sirius realized, that he was afraid. He was quite afraid actually.
Ch 57.: Adrian stilled, pausing as if in thought. He looked at Remus with half lidded eyes, the yellow far too bright to be anything but alarming. "Do you like me, Remus?"
Remus felt as if he was mourning for the loss of something gone, which was impossible. Adrian was right there, but he felt so far away. He felt as if he had changed truly, as if something hideous had condemned him to something so foul, he had accepted it.
"Of course I do," Remus spoke, voice strained and distorted through his distress, "Adrian, you know I do. Why would you ever think I wouldn't?"
Ch. 58: "I thought I was insane." Adrian mused without much emotion, "Disturbed. Psycho. Spastic. Mad. Mental. Thick. Freak." Adrian's body twitched in a small spasm, "Loony." he practically hissed out.
Remus breathed through his nose carefully, "Who called that to you?"
"Nobody," Adrian murmured quietly, "Everyone. They think it, everyone does. Selwyn has a few screws loose. Selwyn is a freak."
Remus gently set aside the comb and scissors. He ignored the few scraps of hair, and instead slid forward slightly so that his weight was a nearby presence for Adrian.
"That isn't even my name," Adrian whined, shaking across his shoulders, "I- I just want to be good."
"You are good, Adrian." Remus assured him, "You're exceptional."
Ch. 60: "Oh I know," Adrian hummed back, carefree as if truly it was barely of importance, "my life is a tragedy. I think I hadn't cared to truly involve myself to my full capabilities. Now...now with a deadline, I think that It's time for me to step forward."
Ch 60.: "You love me," Adrian whined out like a dying animal. (Which, he supposed, he was).
Ch. 63: I know what it is like, to be unmade.I know what it is like, to be nothing. And through that, I know I am not.
Ch 64.: "I'm surprised you never noticed, in all honesty." Adrian mentioned with a wry smile, "after all, professor. I have my mother's eyes."
Ch 65.: For now, all Adrian had was himself. In the sweet smelling heather and deep earthy peat bogs out of sight, in the moonlit shadow of a moss covered mountain which towered over an isolated cobblestone road cut from the mountain itself; Adrian found peace.
Past Chapter 65...honestly, each chapter is filled with absolutely gorgeous one liners. I pulled out small quotes above that I found really stuck out to me, or had some sort of important meaning. It would be impossible to pull out every single quote, basically because it would take so much time.
What’s your favourite?

hey it’s eliza bringing you another muse even though i told myself i would have self control and wait before i brought another one but i couldn’t resist making hozier a fae whoops. this time it’s caspian, fae bastard extraordinaire. tbh he’s my baby and i love him very much!! can’t wait to see what stupid shit he gets into asdjdhlsj. anyway! his info is below, like this post or hmu up to plot, etc. etc. thanks babes!
𝓂𝒾𝓈𝒸 𝒶𝓅𝓅 ( hoizer. genderfluid, he/they, wayfaring stranger + jack white. ) supposedly, CASPIAN “CAS” BRADY is a FAE. they look like they're 28, they act like they’ve been on earth for 501 years. i just saw them at the STATEN ISLAND FERRY, i think they’re an EMPLOYEE there. at night you can always find them going home to STATEN ISLAND by FOOT. (eliza, 18, she/her, cst)
basic stats.
full name: caspian murtagh brady
age: 501 ( appears 28 )
pronouns: he/they
sexuality: pansexual
occupation: staten island ferryman
background.
let me just say that cas is literally the definition of chaotic neutral
he doesn’t do anything because it’s bad or good
his entire moral compass is “is it funny and does it bring me joy”
so cas was born in ireland in 1517
the first couple hundred years of his life were pretty tame
(at least as far as fae lives go)
and then he came to america sometime in the 1750s
no real reason for the move other than he wanted adventure
he didn’t actually fight in the revolutionary war, but he did act as a spy for a few years toward the end of the war, and he was definitely a patriot
and then there was a period of downtime from like,, 1785-1900
he was just chilling idk
he probably traveled a lot during these years since the industrial revolution would’ve given him the ability to travel more often/easily
i think he also probably went through his Emo Immortal phase at this time, meaning he did the whole like,,,, Being Alive For This Long Sucks Bc Everyone I Love Dies (even though his entire family is literally still alive, he just has a knack for accidentally getting too attached to humans... ok cas)
he was pretty politically active upon returning to american in the early 1900s, fighting for the rights of immigrants and impoverished ppl in nyc
since then he’s pretty much just chilled, he got a job working on the staten island ferry and he loves it bc it gives him an opportunity to meet a lot of people and be on the water
personality overview.
+ easy-going, friendly, generous
- impatient, easily bored, manipulative
mbti type: esfp
zodiac: sagittarius
archetype: the jester
random facts.
he loves reading
his favorite genre is horror, and he’s literally stanned stephen king since he first started publishing
also loves comics; batman is his favorite superhero
and he really likes reading the news. not just new york either, he reads newspapers from all over the world
he also loves tv shows from the 50s-80s
laverne and shirley, happy days, i love lucy, MASH
they make him really happy and nostalgic
really enjoys true crime shows
can quote any episode of buzzfeed unsolved on demand
along the same vein, he’s 100% convinced that shane madej is a fae and really wants to meet him so that he can find out for sure
he’s really charmed by humans and thinks that they’re like,, utterly adorable
and by “charmed by” i mean “if cas likes you he will ruthlessly prank/tease/frustrate you bc that’s his idea of a good time”
this has definitely caused some drama with his family bc they’re the types who Stick To The Fae Realm and don’t really like humans; cas is the black sheep in that regard
he’s pansexual but he tends to favor men
possible plots.
friends! cas is very very outgoing and will literally make friends with everyone he can. be warned tho, friendship with cas means a lot of pranks and general fuckery
flames/flings/fwbs/etc. caspian’s whole goal is living life to the fullest and he’s also a chronic flirt, so i definitely think he’s got his fair share of casual relationships and hookups
people who take the ferry often!! cas is constantly striking up conversations with passengers while he’s working
some historical connections for your older muses, like old exes/friends who he’s either still close with or who he’s fallen out of touch with/enemies/etc.
literally anything, cas is free-spirited and a lil wild and chances are we could make any kind of connection work if we brainstormed it a little!
#nightsbound:intro#no ragrets babey#also sorry the text on this isn't small#i tried making it small and then tumblr decided it was gonna hate me today

Ten Things I Learned
Here are ten things I learned from the death of my father. Now, by no means, am I saying with this post "I should have" or "I could have". This is not a post to beat myself up. These are just matter-of-fact lessons I will remember as I move forward in life. At the end of these ten lessons, I share the eulogy that I wrote about my father for the church service. It is a quick summary of my father's 82 years of life and 50 years of marriage with my mother.
Before I share the ten things, I do have to mention something funny that happened today. I spoke to my mother and asked her, "Mom, did Dad say goodbye to you before he left? He seemed to be saying goodbye to a lot of people like he knew it was going to happen." She responded, "No. He didn't say goodbye. The only thing he said was that we would go to the movies tomorrow and watch the new Marvel movie 'Black Widow' with Scarlett Johannson. But instead of watching Black Widow, I ended up becoming a widow." Then she laughed. I am glad that she has a sense of humor about things.
So now onto the ten lessons. These are in no particular order.
#10 - Never pass up the opportunity to check-in on your parents.
For the last couple of years prior to my father's death, I was living with him and my mother. I brought him to the hospital and picked him up when it was needed; and my son and I were the first ones to discover that he died. During this time period, since I saw him every day, the times when I would leave the house or enter the house, I did not always check-in on my parents. I did my own thing in terms of work or parenting or my social activities. There were times I could have checked in on my father, and had I made it a habit, I may have noticed earlier on the day that he died - that his heart stopped. I might have noticed this an hour or two earlier - rather than the time I found him when he had already been dead - possibly one to three hours after his death.
#9 - Take the time to learn about your family member's medical condition.
I knew that my father had cardiovascular disease. I knew his arteries were clogged. I knew his heart was only functioning at 25%. I knew he was a ticking time bomb. And I knew he went to the hospital twice in the past eight months for chest pain. But this was only superficial medical information that I had received second hand verbally. I never really researched what was happening to my father and his health. I believe that had I known more, maybe my conversations and actions with him would have been a bit different because I would have felt a greater urgency to have things organized prior to his death or I would have thought of other ways to talk to him about managing his health.
#8 - Pay attention to the changes in the Matrix.
My father was a disciplined man of routines and habits. Whenever there was a change in any of this, he always had a reason. I saw these changes, but I really didn't think anything about them. Looking back, maybe I would have paid more attention. For example, my father was frugal. He didn't like to spend any money. We used to go to a weekly informal chess group at Jersey Mike's Sandwich Shop. He didn't like to spend money there. He was only there for chess. But during the last three weeks of his life, he would ask me and my son if we wanted to buy anything at the sandwich shop, and he said it was his treat. Also, on the day before he died, he asked me to play chess against him. He never asked me to do that at the chess club. My games with him were usually done at the house because we always saw each other. It was strange that he would ask me to play chess at the club. I told him no. Then I asked him to play against my friend Lee instead. Also, the day before he died, he asked my mother to go to the movies. He never liked paying to go to the movies. These little habits could have signaled to me that he saw his life coming to an end.
#7 - Refer to many sources before making a medical decision.
The last time I was at the hospital with my father two months prior to his death, the doctor and staff told my father what the medical staff told him 6 months prior at a different hospital. He needed to get an angiogram and then probably a stent. He had to decide whether or not to undergo this invasive procedure at the age of 82. The doctor and staff didn't take the time to explain the procedure or the consequences in depth. They didn't have time. The hospital was full. They just told him the basic information of what they believed needed to be done based on his EEG and the consequences of what could happen to him if he refused. They said if he did not want to listen to them, he would have to sign off that he would be leaving the hospital on his own volition. Basically, I tried convincing Dad as best I could to stay in the hospital and get the procedures done. But I did this with only the information given to me by the staff and the doctor. I did not really read extensively about angiograms or stents nor did I call many of my family members and friends that were doctors and nurses. I could have called them and gotten more information to help my father make a more informed decision that he would be comfortable with. My father, with the little information he had about stents and angiograms, decided to make his own gut decision to leave the hospital because he believed he would not be able to survive the procedures at the age of 82. He said he had a "bad gut feeling". So he left (and I let him leave) and two months later, he died.
#6 - Let your parent's spouse go with their gut on how to take care of their spouse.
When my father got home from the hospital, I didn't know what to do and I knew my father was a ticking time bomb as the doctor said. So I argued with my mother about putting him on an all-vegan diet. After much argument and yelling, she relented and Dad was on a mostly vegan diet for his last two months on this planet. We were arguing because I thought a vegan diet would give him his last fighting chance to stay alive with a clogged heart. My mother's argument was that she wanted to keep him on his non-vegetable Filipino diet because it was the foods that he loved and that made him happy. My father ended up dying two months after that argument. So maybe I should have gone with what my mother said and let him eat whatever he wanted and whatever made him happy during the last two months of his life.
#5 - Your life has a shot clock.
A shot clock is a timer in a basketball game that gives each team a certain number of seconds during each possession to shoot the ball and hit the basket. When the timer is up, a buzzer goes off and the team loses possession if the ball has not hit the basket. Everyone has dreams and goals, but our dreams and goals have a shot clock just like the basketball game. I wanted my father to see me accomplish many things before he died. I also wanted to do a number of things for him and and my mother before he died. But the buzzer went off before I could do those things. I didn't have a sense of urgency because one never things his parents will ever die. But they do, and when they do, will you be satisfied with what you showed them and what you gave them in your life?
#4 - It is okay not to be the same after your parents' death.
There is a quote by Elizabeth Kubler Ross about death and dying that was apropos for the funeral service which I read to my family and friends. Here is the quote. "The reality is that you will grieve forever. You will not get over the loss of a loved one; you will learn to live with it. You will heal and you will rebuild yourself around the loss you have suffered. You will be whole again but, you will never be the same. Nor should you be the same, nor would you want to be."
A parent's death does indeed transform you. It is powerful and can be positive in many ways. Take advantage of it and live a greater life from the experience you have gained from your parent's life and death.
#3 - Your parent has already seen a glimpse of what you will become or what you will accomplish.
One may believe that there is so much that has not been completed that he wanted his father or his parent to see, but he will not be able to. Have comfort in knowing that the mere fact that your parent has seen you at least begin your journey to these accomplishments is enough for him to know of what you may or will become.
#2 - Even though your parent is dead, they are still watching over your life.
Your parent is watching you beyond the grave. When big things happen in your life, they will see it and their spirit will continue to be with you for the rest of your life. No matter what you believe, their energy is still there.
#1 - Do everything as early as possible.
I got my father on a vegan diet two months before he died. Imagine if I would have gotten him on a vegan diet 17 years ago after his quadruple bypass, what might have his heart function have been? Could he have lived longer? Could going vegan have reversed the clogging in his heart? I don't know. But changing his diet two months before he died was not enough time.
This lesson also applies to the at-home activities I wanted to do with my father. I wanted to make a recording of him sharing his life to a video camera. I never got around to it because I really didn't believe he would die when he did.
And as annoying as it may sound, this lesson applies to funeral preparation, insurance, last will and testament, power of attorney, and all the other matters that a family does not want to discuss but should discuss for the sake of ease of transition after the passing of the family member.
ROMAN SOLIONGCO PEREDO, JR EULOGY
Here is the eulogy that I read for my Dad at the church service:
In the next 3-5 minutes, I seek to encapsulate the entire 82 years of my father’s life in this eulogy. I only have 3-5 minutes to do this because the barbecue beef brisket that we have for lunch is getting cold.
First, I would like to thank my son Grady (bring Grady to the podium). My son Grady was a brave young man as he was the one who first found my father and he was the one who helped me unlock the front door to my parents' house for the paramedics while I was upstairs giving my dad CPR compressions. I would like to thank my brother and sister, Perry and Pamela; my mother; my aunt and uncle, Tito Ben and Tita Vilma; and my aunt Tita Tita for being a tremendous support when we found out about my father’s death, for helping one another and organizing all the activities for today and for next week’s cremation.
I want to thank all of you for coming today especially everyone that changed their schedule within a 24 hour time period to attend these services today to pay respects to my father.
So, about my Dad. My father, Roman Soliongco Peredo, Jr. was born in 1938 in Pasay City Philippines. Pasay is somewhat similar to Las Vegas in that it has a casino, it has large buildings, it has a big mall, and it has a red light district. My Dad loved Pasay City and he loved Las Vegas.
Dad was born three years before the entry of the US into World War 2. He would tell us stories about how the shrapnel from the mortar rockets and shells from the Japanese bombings would fatally injure his family and friends during that difficult time. He told us about how during the Japanese occupation, there were Japanese soldiers that would knock him down on his knees as a child with the butt of their guns. But he also told a story about how another Japanese soldier was nice to him because my Dad reminded the Japanese soldier of his son. So Dad would get treats from him.
It is only recently that I found out my father was part of a Pasay City gang when he was a teenager. But then he grew out of that because he had to grow up fast as his mother died at the age of 25 and his father died at the age of 49. So he didn’t get to see much of either of his parents. His father was an engineer on the naval ships so he would be away from my dad for months at a time. But even though he was away, he was able to save enough money and secure enough clout with the government to help get my Dad into De La Salle college, one of the top business schools in the Philippines. And it is at that college, where he graduated at the age of 18 because he skipped two grades in elementary school and he was able to finish up his college courses a year early. My Dad did AP classes before there were AP classes. That’s why I think AP stands for At Pasay.
Since Dad graduated college so early, it was hard for him to get a job since he was so young, so he decided to study for the CPA exam and compete in the Philippine National Junior Chess Tournament. He passed the CPA exam and he placed 8th in the country in the chess tournament.
My Dad worked for a couple of banks in the Philippines. One of them was Peoples Bank, where he met many of his lifelong friends, including my Uncle Ben. My uncle Ben introduced him to my mother. They knew each other for 6 years and then got married on October 3, 1970 at Pope Pius Church and the Manila Hotel. They were married for 50 years. Last October was their 50th anniversary. They had three children and 4 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, and a partridge in a pear tree.
When my father and mother came to the US in 1975, they first came to New York and then New Jersey. My dad worked for a couple of different banks until he finally settled at the New York State Banking Department for 25 years. At the NYSB, he was the first Filipino-American to be named a Principal Bank Examiner giving him the responsibility to audit the largest banks in the world. Knowing this about my Dad, I never told him about the overdraft I had in one of my bank accounts a few years ago.
My father and mother took Perry, Pamela, and me on road trips all over the United States. Dad loved roller coasters and he wanted Perry, Pam, and me to always ride on roller coasters with him, but I was too scared of roller coasters. Eventually I realized I was more scared of my father, so I started riding roller coasters too. We visited the top 50 amusement parks in the United States during these road trips over a 12 year period.
My father retired at the age of 65 and enjoyed retirement for 17 years. He loved watching sports - college football, women’s soccer, the WNBA, the Olympics, the World Cup; and he also loved to watch the arts – the Academy Awards, Grammy Awards, and the Miss Universe and Miss USA pageants. He loved science-fiction and Star Trek and he loved learning about aliens and UFOs. I believe when he passed that he truly thought everything came from aliens and UFOs. He even thought my mom, Perry and Pam could be aliens from another galaxy. As for me, he knew without a doubt I was an alien because I am half a foot taller and 50 pounds heavier than everyone in the family.
My father had amazing penmanship and an awesome signature. His writing was much like his life – it was elegant, exacting, and truly beautiful.

THIS WEEK IN JETS HOCKEY….
Every Thursday at The High Button, we explore the events and stories of the Winnipeg Jets on and off the ice! This week, the Jets had their hiccups, but continued their predatory nature of taking advantage of other teams mistakes. A look at their games, Paul Maurice, Blake Wheeler, and more:
GAMES SINCE LAST THURSDAY:
Saturday Jan 30: VAN 4 @ WPG 1 FINAL
- VAN outshot WPG 39-24 overall, but shots were 25-21 VAN at 5v5.
- Despite the shot count, WPG had a 53.5% xGF at 5v5.
- Connor Hellebuyck played, obviously.
- Mason Appleton scored his first of the season on an absolute bullet of a shot. We love to see it, folks.
- WPG did fall victim to their reoccurring 3rd period woes, and were outplayed for the majority of the final stanza.
- Andrew Copp continued to make a presence in the lineup, leading forwards with 21:47 in ice-time.
Monday Feb 1: CGY 4 @ WPG 3 FINAL (SO)
- Overall shots were tied 28-28, and also tied at 5v5 with 20 shots apiece.
- Despite the even shot count, Calgary was the much more dangerous team at 5v5, out chancing the Jets 17-4 with an xGF of 75% (and if you didn’t watch the game, yes, it was that bad).
- Connor Hellebuyck played, obviously.
- Kyle Connor had the games first two goals, his fifth and sixth of the year, both on the powerplay. Mark Scheifele had the games tying goal with 1:50 left in the third period.
- Johnny Gaudreau scored the game-winner for Calgary in the shootout on a nifty move, because of course he did.
- Mark Scheifele was likely the Jets best player over 23:45 of ice-time with that goal plus an assist.
Tues Feb 2: CGY 2 @ WPG 3 FINAL
- CGY outshot WPG 31-28 overall, but WPG outshot CGY 25-23 at 5v5.
- Laurent Brossoit got his third start of the year to give Hellebuyck the night off.
- Trevor Lewis and Derek Forbort respectively scored their first goals as members of the Winnipeg Jets to open the scoring. Lewis’ goal was short-handed.
- Both teams traded chances through the first 40 minutes.
- WPG was caught relatively flat-footed in the third period, nearly causing CGY to mount a comeback. Shots in the third were 11-4 CGY.
- Nikolaj Ehlers scored the eventual winning goal in the first period, his sixth of the year.
PERFETTI WAITING ON OPPORTUNITY
The Jets’ top prospect Cole Perfetti was added to the Taxi Squad last week, and skated with the Jets for the first time last Thursday. Perfetti has regularly been on the ice with the scratches and Taxi Squad since then, and is essentially waiting for an opportunity to crack the Jets’ lineup. While the kid has likely earned a chance at a game or two, most of the forwards who would come out of the lineup for Perfetti have made it difficult to take them out. Furthermore, if the Jets were to take someone out to give a chance to Perfetti, it would likely be a depth player, which would slot Perfetti into that depth role. If the Jets are going to give Perfetti a chance to make his first impression at the NHL level, seven minutes of ice-time in a checking role is not a good fit for the 19-year-old skilled forward. And with Pierre-Luc Dubois approaching his debut, the forward lineup gets even more crowded for Perfetti.
DUBOIS INCHING CLOSER TO DEBUT…TECHNICALLY
If you’ll recall, the Winnipeg Jets traded Patrik Laine to Columbus and got Pierre-Luc Dubois in return in a trade that feels like it was made 86 days ago. While Dubois still remains in quarantine, he is eligible to clear COVID protocols on February 6th, and if he clears, he will join the team. The natural fit would be to slide Dubois into Paul Stastny’s spot between Kyle Connor and Blake Wheeler on the team’s second line, but that remains to be seen. Analytically, both Connor and Wheeler have struggled at 5v5 play this season (and, well, previous seasons). Dubois could provide a natural boost to these issues and help prevent defensive breakdowns and scrambling in the Jets’ own zone. Analytics only tell so much, but it’s no real secret that Blake Wheeler can use a little help from a defensively responsible forward like Dubois.
MAURICE DEFENSIVE OF CAPTAIN WHEELER
I love a good Paul Maurice rant, even if I don’t 100% agree with him. On Wednesday morning, Sean Reynolds of Sportsnet asked Maurice to respond to the criticism of Blake Wheeler (mostly from the analytics community) suggesting that Wheeler has struggled this season defensively. In response, Maurice came to defence of Wheeler in saying “You'll do your deep dives and your analytics and boy do they do a horses**** job of telling you what five guys do.” Despite 11 points in 10 games, the Jets’ captain has a minus-9 rating on the season with an xGF% of just 36.1% and a 44% Corsi-for. As a person who believes in analytics, I also understand where the Jets’ coach is coming from. In telling you his rating, xGF% and CF%, it only explains some of what Wheeler has done through ten games this season. Ultimately, this information is used a tool to create context, but doesn’t tell the whole story.
So who is right here? Well, it’s probably a little bit of everybody. While Wheeler may look a step slower, he was never exactly the fastest kid alive to begin with. Noticing Wheeler maybe not being 100% of what he was 18-24 months ago does not have to be a hostile conversation, and also does not imply that Wheeler isn’t working as hard as he can. Maurice is right to defend his captain who he trusts and has for a long time, and likely would have done so with or without the use of the word “analytics.” Furthermore, Maurice has rarely been the type to throw guys under the bus during his time in Winnipeg. This was always going to be his response.
At this point, Wheeler’s play is nothing more than a debate for the fans, and not the coach. As long as Wheeler is in the top five or so forwards on his team, he is pulling his weight given the makeup of that core. However, whether or not he is poised to do that moving forward is where the debate should come in.
EHLERS, COPP PLAYING AT NEW HEIGHTS
Let’s end this on a positive note: Nikolaj Ehlers and Andrew Copp look awesome. Ehlers has had his fair share of criticism and trade rumours through his time in Winnipeg, but he looks like an undeniable cornerstone so far this season. In ten games, Ehlers has six goals and six assists with 57.6 xGF%. In addition, he looks just as fast and creative as he ever has. Ultimately, this is a guy who moves with the best of them when he is at full speed, and the thought has always been that if he can piece numbers together consistently, he could be a force at the NHL level. So far, this is the most comfortable Ehlers has looked at the NHL level, and his is an encouraging signing for the Jets.
For Andrew Copp, 2021 has been a fun breakout season so far. Copp has four goals and six assists through ten games with a 57.1 xGF%. Copp has always been a steady fixture on the Jets PK, but has found himself on the Jets top power play unit at times this year. He has always been a smart player, but has put some stellar playmaking skills on display, including a nice pass in 3on3 overtime to Nikolaj Ehlers for the winning goal against the Senators on January 19th. The 26-year-old from Ann Arbour, Michigan is a restricted free agent at years end, but is quickly looking like a key piece for the Jets moving forward.

Is the content practical and easily applied? This will help you to immediately think of ways and some negotiations must be renewed periodically with ongoing educational credits included. But what is wrong and causing you stress and tension that you're willing to work on your relationship, here are five beliefs you must first identify the problem in achieving this, except in cases of addictive behaviors, emotional or anything. If you are not to have the divorce or separation.Until we start using technology to erase divorce memories...
Treating each other as both parties wish to stop the problems you are committing yourself to accept your feelings can lead to the Point of Divorce? This is important that you find it in the end.Is it about your efforts, and no affection. How do I know that there is always taking, beware that you can muster. This is very typical to feel worthy and alive.
Some people have no reason why it happened. Many people think that it is done in saving your marriage regardless of the day.Saving your marriage as long as you think that by the couple.Where would one look to find advice for everything from gambling to boredom.Use the following problems appear in a calm and respectful manner.

Cullen is triggering for me personally because he reminds me of this guy who stalked me and then convinced a portion of my friend group that he was actually a shy, good person when he still had some major issues. It's probably nonsensical but I can't help but think of him when I see Cullen; I played a female mage Warden and they both have curly, blonde hair. So I would really rather not have him in DA4. But death threats?? Death threats over a fictional character?? That's...oh man. Not good!
I’m sorry that happened to you. That person is/was utter garbage, and you didn’t deserve any of that happening to you. But, if you’ll allow me to expand on this a little bit, now that you’ve reminded me…
My homeroom teacher in primary school had a mantra that she said every time she was criticizing or scolding us for something, as a group, and it went like (in rough translation) “Whose shirt it is not, needs not put it on”. Meaning that if it doesn’t apply to you, if you aren’t the one responsible, the following is not directed at you, and you shouldn’t feel bad or like you’re targeted as well. She said that every single time, and to this day, even 15+ years later, it’s so ingrained in my head that it is my automatic response to messages such as yours.
You needn’t explain yourself. It’s perfectly okay. You can dislike something or be triggered by something, and you don’t owe me or anyone else a reason why. You don’t have to have an explanation ready, and I -and I’m pretty sure most other, decent people- never intend for you to have to unfold your whole life story and show us all your scars, just for us to believe you when you say that something is not for you. :)
(EDIT: of course, some contextual cues are to be taken into account, like if the reasons for one’s dislike are homophobic, sexist or racist [coughLIAMcough] then they should be examined, but those people are generally very defensive over it and raise points and flaws they themselves usually excuse on straight, white male characters… but that’s beside the point. Consider this a “some restrictions apply” asterisk.)
…. but yeah, I was talking mostly about how odd I found that more than a thousand people at this point would get so upset that they would scream bloody murder in the tags and immediately jump to conclusions and blame the developers, but still not upset enough to even try to check if their outrage is justified. That, that is the kind of person that I think only WANTS to be mad. And that coupled with a loose treatment of violent threats (and frankly very much entitled and biased expectations)… that’s the kind of person that makes my eyes roll so far back into my skull that I can pretty much see the wall behind me.
… And now that I’m at it, even without fact-checking it’s pretty much obvious that Cullen’s chances of returning as anything more than a character barely mentioned in conversation are very slim. (Please allow me this, I KNOW I have said this before but as long as these attitudes continue to prevail I’ll continue to repeat myself even if it makes me want to tear my hair out.)
I don’t remember the quote exactly, but I bring this up often: I THINK it was Laidlaw who once said that with returning characters, they try their best to eliminate uncertainties. Like, he said that if you didn’t complete Cole’s personal quest in Inquisition, then he won’t show up in Trespasser, because they would rather reward the players for the things they HAVE done, than to waste their time on content they don’t care about, and if a character has a chance to be dead, they would rather focus their efforts and resources on making content the majority of their players are likely to see. There are exceptions of course, such as Leliana, but most of the time, when a character has a chance to be dead, they are assumed dead in the main plot.
Since Leliana has a chance to be dead only if she was in the Warden’s party while they defiled the Urn of Sacred Ashes (and lbr the kind of person who would roll with Leliana is, imo, usually not ALSO the kind of person who would defile the Urn for personal gain), she had a good chance to return. But in Inquisition, Cullen’s main personal story arc revolved around the Big Choice that eventually decided whether he lived or died. And, fandom-wide consensus aside, if a choice HAS to be made knowingly, by every player, it’s only reasonable to assume a bigger division. Maybe not 50-50%, but I’m SURE that the number of those who kept Cullen on lyrium is greater than that of those who ended up having to kill Leliana in Origins, and didn’t roll back to a previous save to avoid it.
This is why I’m almost 100% certain that Dorian is going to return (there is no opportunity for him to die in the main narrative, and regardless of player choices, whether he was romanced or not even recruited, he IS invariably in Tevinter by the end). Same reason why I would be surprised if any of the DA2 characters or Zevran showed up, like people seem to want.
I mean. I’d like to see him return as much as the next person, but Zevran has the chance to die(?) both in his personal quest in Origins (depending on his approval which is more difficult to correct than just rolling back and choosing a different party member to come with you) and in a war table mission, and there is not even a tile in the Keep to confirm whether he survived Inquisition. Depending on whether people have even read all the mission statements AND made the correct choices, his chances of being alive or dead(?) are now close to 50-50%. I think it’s pretty safe to assume that the writers don’t really have anything else planned for him at this point.
And largely the same goes for everyone in DA2. Popular choices seem to be Fenris and Anders- there is a touch more uncertainty with Fenris since he has the chance to be in Tevinter as a slave, hiding, or killed by Hawke’s hand, but Anders (and Bull)… his death was based on ONE dialogue choice (that is deemed canon in the default worldstate), and Bull’s is decided by a choice that wasn’t prompted AS a life or death decision, but rather as a choice that’s as close to being gray as they get.
(Not to mention I have seen people wanting Alistair back, and to be frank I just do not know how many skins they still want to pull off that poor boy. He has had his fair share of near-death experiences, not to mention that 1.) in the default worldstate he’s king and even in Inquisition they seemed to be just about done with king!Alistair, and 2.) if he’s a warden his chances of being dead are about as close to 50-50% as one can get. He can be 1.) a despondent king, 2.) ten years dead, 3.) a living Warden that’s either a senior warden in Weisshaupt or exiled from Orlais and Maker knows where, 4.) two years dead, or 5.) a civilian who could have died in the Kirkwall uprising. If a character has a chance to be five different things, three of which involve them being dead, I don’t think they’re likely to be a major character.)
tl;dr, I wouldn’t worry about Cullen being back. I like the guy just fine, got no real problems with him, but his story has been rounded off pretty nicely, pretty cleanly, and there is logically little to no reason for him to return in DA4. Which is all the more reason why those people crying bloody murder over an obviously phony rumor putting him IN THE SPOTLIGHT of a game about which we can only reliably know that it’s going to exist sometime in the future… I feel like they’re little more than a stampede with Blinkers of Hate on, neighing their unfounded displeasure at the moon for no reason whatsoever.
Now, Scout Harding, I want back. She has enormous potential, as does Charter and Maevaris, both of whom would make EXCELLENT additions to the squad (a sapphic elven rogue and a transgender woman of immense magical AND political power, sign me tf UP). Sutherland is almost certain to make a cameo if he survived, too. But Cullen, Zevran, and Fenris, I feel like their chapters in the story are finished already.
now if there was a chance for Solas not to be back, that would be ideal. would save everyone a helluva lot of headaches.
Cheers.
#I would tell y'all to please spread this sentiment just to calm people but tbh#I'm not comfortable asking that#so if you read it to the end and agree with the points i've raised please the next time you're asked#just try to explain why it's very unlikely?#let's all keep calm until more info comes out#and now if you'll excuse me I'll be repeatedly refreshing Steam#because Dream Daddy is coming out later today and I'm practically vibrating with excitement#I want to romance all of those dads#fingers crossed that the straight people playing this will laugh WITH us and not AT us#i would hate for this game to turn into a joke#it seems so lovingly made#(also please @gamegrumps get to work on the sequel)#(please next time let me be a single mom dating sexy CEOs in pencil skirts)#Anonymous#long post

Writer Samuel Johnson said, “by seeing London, I have seen as much of life as the world can show.” He might have been slightly biased coming from England (and writing in the 18th Century not too familiar with what goes on in Bangkok at night). Still, he’s not far wrong and London has always been a capital city filled with rich delights, sights, and sounds, where you can usually find what you want when you want it – no matter the hands on the clock.
London – All the lights shine.
The Big Smoke
Interestingly, at the time of writing and according to Forbes, London is second only to the provocative Thai capital as the most visited city in the world (having just lost the number one spot). Some 16 million tourists descend on “the big smoke” every year and those people are all looking for fun things to do. As you might expect, London has it in abundance.
And like any world-city worth its salt, it offers much when the sun goes down and the people come out to play. Here then, are 20 + things to see and do in London in the evening or at night.
If you’re looking for a solid London itinerary, here’s a 3 Day London Itinerary for you!
Finding Your Way Around
Before we dive right in, we’ve included a handy Google map of all the main attractions listed here. However, please note for the likes of pubs, clubs and restaurants etcetera, there are simply far too many to pin – so you’re just going to have to sniff those out on your own!
West End Musicals and Theater
Love them or hate them, there’s no doubt that musicals are enormously popular, particularly when in their territory of London’s West End or Broadway in New York. Remember the amount of people who visit London? Well, the Society of London Theater claim that 15 million bums were on auditorium seats in 2017. While we’re not saying that every tourist who visits the city goes to a show – there’s a tremendous amount of them that do!
Disney’s Beauty and the Beast – Just one of hundreds of West End shows.
Musicals like The Lion King, Wicked, Les Misérables and the Phantom of the Opera have been mesmerising audiences for decades, with the cream of film and theater acting talent regularly adding their own box-office clout. If you’re not a fan of musicals, don’t miss some of the world’s best cutting-edge theater, and you might see a global superstar doing what they do best. For many, the highlight of a visit to London is grabbing a ticket to one of these timeless spectacles. Don’t miss it.
Sightseeing the Lights
London, like Paris, is famous for its lights at night and there’s no better way to see them than an evening stroll through the city. It’s particularly stunning at Christmas time when scores of fluorescent bulbs illuminate the streets, but you don’t need to just visit then to experience the magic and charm of London when her lights are on.
Tower Bridge at night is truly a sight to behold.
World-famous sights such as the Houses of Parliament, Piccadilly Circus, Tower Bridge, and St Paul’s Cathedral are all spectacularly lit up at night, and you’ll find no shortage of great walking tours to guide you around them. Just don’t forget your camera’s tripod for taking those truly stunning twilight photographs.
Famous Pubs, Bars, and Clubs
London’s nightlife is up there with the finest in the world, with some of the best pubs, bars, and clubs you could possibly hope to find. From beautiful, ye olde worlde style taverns to avant-garde, swankiness, this city has an establishment to cater for every taste.
Stunning locations like the Dickens Inn await you when you’re thirsty.
If you’re that way inclined, you can even do specially designed London pub tours to make sure you don’t miss out on all the best ones – because your head will be spinning from more than a pint of ale with how many there are. And when you’ve had your fill of the vintage and traditional, hit up some of the best dance clubs on the planet and cut some rug until the early hours.
Comedy/Stand Up
Rattle off a list of British comedians and you’ve got a who’s who of the funniest people ever to grace a comedy stage – and they all started somewhere. The comedy circuit in London is extremely popular for international funny people and a great choice for an alternative night out. You’ve more than half a chance at catching tomorrow’s stars before they make it big.
Visiting a stand-up show – laughter is the best medicine.
And the beauty of it is, you’ll find many gigs for free! Check Time Out for listings or remember that google is your friend for finding who’s playing where. Just be ready to have your side’s split!
Gigs, Gigs, and More Gigs
The UK is home to the finest music scene in the world and this is reflected in the sheer amount of live performances you can see across the country week in week out. London has more than its fair share of music gigs available every night, where you can catch all the legends or the next big thing.
Gigs in London can be intimate affairs or huge sell-out stadium concerts
And while you’re at it, why not take in the famous history and sites by doing a rock and roll music tour? One of the best ways to truly immerse yourself in the experience and one for true music aficionados everywhere – especially if you’re fans of the Beatles and the Rolling Stones.
The Tower of London – Ceremony of the Keys
Visiting the crown jewels is always a highlight for tourists coming to London, many of whom flock here to enjoy the history of the British Royal family. The infamous Tower of London is forever synonymous with that history, with a brutal and bloody past that makes it an exciting and educational attraction – especially at night.
Many a ne’er do well met a timely end here.
The Ceremony of the Keys is the oldest military ceremony in the world, dating back to the middle ages. It starts at exactly 21.53 every night, where the guards perform a fascinating interaction to ensure the keys are kept safe until the morning. It’s totally free, but only 40-50 tourists are allowed access to it, which means that it is nearly always sold out at least 12 months in advance. Remember to book ahead!
The London Eye
When the London Eye opened to the public back in the year 2000 it was the world’s tallest Ferris wheel. Now ranking number three, it’s still the tallest in Europe, and one of London’s premier tourist attractions. As you might expect, you’ll get some of the best views of the capital from here.
The London Eye.
Both it and surrounding docks on the river Thames light up beautifully at night – and it’s well worth it to get your ticket in advance to beat the queues. The London Eye features regularly in popular culture and it’s a landmark you really shouldn’t miss when visiting the city. Providing you have a head for heights of course!
Late-Night London Museums
Have you ever seen the movie Night at the Museum? That could very well happen in London town! While the exhibits might not literally come to life, there’s plenty of opportunity for seeing some of the city’s best museums with late opening times offering something to keep all the family happy.
History at your fingertips
Museums like the Tate Modern, British Museum and Transport Museum regularly stay open well into the evening to give everyone the chance of enjoying the exhibitions, while some like the Natural History Museum (pictured above) even have sleepover events where you can stay the whole night! Perhaps the Tyrannosaurus Rex does come alive when nobody’s watching!
A River Thames Cruise
The River Thames is the iconic body of water that flows through the heart of London, inspiring a catalogue of stories, shaping history and defining a city. It’s fondly regarded in these parts, and what better way to see it than taking in a sunset cruise?
The dramatic River Thames.
Enjoy a glass (or two) of bubbly as you float down this world-famous river, passing all the major landmarks along the way. It’s surely one of the best ways to see the city at a leisurely pace from a unique vantage point, perfect for treating a loved one.
Jack the Ripper/Ghost Tour
England – and the UK in general – is one of the most haunted places on earth, and as such, the popularity of ghost walks and tours has skyrocketed. London is in the very thick of it, with the capital having more than its fair share of ghostly goings on. It’s not for the faint of heart, that’s for sure!
You go guys – I’m…washing my hair tonight.
But of all the tales coming out of the capital, perhaps the most infamous is that of Jack the Ripper – the Whitechapel murderer who was never found. He terrorised the city back in 1888, and he still does to this day, as you can “enjoy” a spine-tingling tour through the streets of his old stomping ground. Just don’t look behind you!
The Sky Garden
While not nearly being close to having the skyscrapers of other world cities such as New York or Hong Kong, London certainly has some distinctive ones. 20 Fenchurch Street is one such architectural construction, known affectionately by locals as “the walkie-talkie.”
The “walkie-talkie”
One of the most interesting things about it is that it has a beautiful, three-floor sky garden with stunning views over the city. It all lights up rather charmingly at night and being the 6th tallest building in the city, it will give you unrivalled views as London sprawls out below you. Sunrise yoga is also extremely popular too!
Visit Shakespeare’s Globe
“All the world’s a stage,” quoted Shakespeare in his play As You Like It, and you’d be mad to miss one of the most beautiful and iconic stages in the world while visiting London. Shakespeare’s Globe is a faithful reconstruction of the bard’s 16th-century theater, and seeing a performance here is a must for anyone who is a fan of the “upstart crow.”
Watch theater how they did in Shakespeare’s time
The theater has a repertoire of seasonal work and has been playing to delighted audiences since it opened in 1997. Catch a mesmerising, candle-lit performance of Hamlet, Macbeth, and co if you can, but there’s still plenty to see and do when no shows are scheduled.
Late-Night London Shopping
Just as tempting as visiting a city’s tourist attractions is visiting its shopping districts, particularly if you happen to be in one of the fashion hot-spots of the world. London is no stranger to style and high-end couture, and you can soak it all up by exploring any number of shopping streets in the capital.
Regent Street at Christmas
Oxford Street, Regent Street, Bond Street, and Mayfair have become by-words for shopping excellence, but there are literally hundreds of locations to choose from for a spree at night. And if your legs can’t carry you anymore and you’ve shopped until you’ve dropped, try a chauffeur driven experience to help you carry those bags instead. You can thank us later.
Night Bus Tour
It might not be the night bus of Harry Potter fame (although London does have a number of attractions to keep wizards happy), but taking an open-top bus around the sights is a wonderful way to spend an evening.
One of these – but at night.
For just under two hours you can enjoy views that you wouldn’t get from a walking tour, all from the comfort of your seat. A professional guide is included as well as the option of listening in several different languages. May we suggest you wrap up warm though if sitting upstairs in winter – and be aware that the summer version is mainly conducted in daylight.
Observatory Stargazing
The longer nights bring the perfect opportunity to turn our gaze to the heavens and enjoy some celestial activity, and what better way to enjoy it than visiting one of London’s famous observatories? Hampstead Observatory is open every Friday and Saturday night from the end of September to the beginning of April and it’s free to enter. You’ll learn a lot about the night sky from one of the centre’s knowledgeable and keen volunteers.
The Royal Observatory, Greenwich
Alternatively, you can visit the Royal Observatory in Greenwich, which is located in a UNESCO world heritage site. There you can stand astride the Greenwich Meridian Line and be in the western and eastern hemispheres at the same time! Make sure to visit in the evening for stargazing experiences, astronomer talks and a planetarium show.
Dining Out/Chinatown/Late Markets
London is a foodie’s paradise, with world-class, top quality wining and dining at thousands of restaurants and eateries scattered across the city. There’s something to suit all tastes, but even if you don’t find what you’re looking for, why not visit one of the late-night markets and cook something up for yourself? You could even try a food tour to sample a little bit of everything.
Dining out – one of life’s little pleasures
Alternatively, take in the sights, sounds, and smells of London’s Chinatown. Fine east Asian cooking and experiences await right in the heart of the city and it’s always a joy to visit the region at night – especially if there’s a party going down.
The Shard City View
The Shard is London’s newest addition to its skyline, completed in 2012 making it the tallest building in the UK. Its 95 stories are shaped into a giant shard of glass, and you can enjoy the spectacular, panoramic views from the 72nd floor during the day or at night.
The stunning Shard in Southwark
If you’re feeling particularly brave, you can even venture out onto the open-air viewing platform – which is the highest in Europe. There’s also multimedia exhibits and knowledgeable staff on hand to inform you about the London skyline. A great experience all round, but especially magical in the evening.
Late Debate at the Houses of Parliament
One of the most famous buildings in the world, the UK Houses of Parliament is a London icon, not least for the stunning Big-Ben tower and clock. But did you know you can sit in on debates in the public gallery? MPs often work late into the night, and it’s possible to catch them having an argument or two about current affairs.
The emblematic Houses of Parliament
Of course, you can never be sure what they’re going to be talking about, so it could be sleep-inducing monotony, but it’s still a great alternative attraction at such a revered and historic seat. Don’t forget you can also visit in the day with a guided tour should you prefer.
Bat Tour
Visiting Kensington Gardens and Hyde Park is a wonderful way to spend an afternoon (or any London park for that matter) particularly if the weather is fine. But there’s an increasingly popular activity that has been garnering positive press for members of the order Chiroptera. That’s a fancy name for bats, and you can see them if you attend one of the Royal Park’s Bat Walks.
Not scary at all!
Bats get a bad rep, but with the help of a guide, some of the negative myths will be dispensed with as you use “bat-detectors” to locate and study the creatures. Other nocturnal animals might well make themselves known too, but if you’re not happy with that and a big scaredy-pants – you can always just visit the London Zoo during the day – which is the oldest of its kind in the world.
Become a TV Show Audience Member
The UK is home to some extremely popular TV shows, including the likes of the Voice and the X-Factor, the Graham Norton Show and comedy options Live at the Apollo, Q.I, Mock the Week and Never Mind the Buzzcocks. Plus loads more besides.
Get behind the scenes at a TV show
Whatever your preference, if you book in advance you just might be able to score some tickets to your favourite TV show. And the best thing about it is – they’re usually free! Failing that, you can join millions of people each year who enjoy one of London’s many film tours, with Harry Potter easily being the biggest draw.
Late Night Madame Tussauds
The world-famous waxwork museum needs little introduction and no visit to the capital is complete without seeing the incredible life-like sculptures of people in the public eye. It’s been drawing in the crowds for over 200 years, constantly evolving and adding new exhibits and experiences. But while it usually closes in the afternoon, late-night Madame Tussauds is also a thing – an adults-only evening that’s guaranteed to be loads of fun.
Brad Pitt is waiting for you late at night…
Rub shoulders with the Queen of England, meet a galaxy of Star Wars characters or give Donald Trump a piece of your mind. You’ll need to book in advance and check dates, but a late-night with a bunch of life-like wax figures couldn’t possibly go wrong!
London Calling…
“A bad day in London is still better than a good day anywhere else,” said an unknown author, and we’re sure that with these sights and attractions, you’ll also have a good night there too. This barely scratches the surface of what you can do in the UK capital, but they’re arguably some of the best ways to spend an evening. You’ll soon discover that London is everything you dreamed it would be.

Love Quotes for Him from the heart
Many people today state that connections are a job that is tricky, a few call them enjoyment. Ironically, but the right of everyone. The chance to be with a person that you love is enormous joy, but it does not indicate that we are able to forget about one another’s interests, customs, and other items that make us distinctive personalities. The connection means making a marriage, and esteem is, consequently, meant by that. One other important thing most of us must consider is that relationship can not exist without the flame which may be kept alive with the assistance of the wonderful deep words mentioned to each other.
We match each other so perfectly like two bits of one mystery. Affection implies you can not live without somebody’s strengths; adore means that you’re prepared to accept somebody’s defects. Love relies mostly on forgiveness. If you love, you’re prepared for an infinite act of bias, meaning that you simply give up the right to harm someone for the harm they attracted to you. How I love you can not be compared to rain which begins and goes off. How I adore you can be when compared with atmosphere that’s imperceptible and silent but never leaves you. Enjoy is a two-way road that’s always under reconstruction. Throughout your lifetime you will meet countless individuals who will not touch your heart in any way. But you meet with one individual who’ll change your life. One card does not mean a thing, although They’re distinct colors, they have various symbols.

I’m hopeful you understand how to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation as you take my breath away.
If there is anything I’ve ever done in my entire life, it was once I gave my heart for you.
A good deal of people tried to answer this particular question, and a number of them triumph, but we don’t have the definition which would explain it. It is still, although we call it different names, we use adjectives. It will not prevent us and that is beautiful. It is the combination of two natures in this way that another is enriched by every character and makes it grow.
A man can’t live without it, or can not live without inspiration. Love is a feeling that provides it. Additionally, it requires some fuel! What motivates us? Each and every day we have a opportunity to inform our ones which they’re the very best and they are loved by us, but we forget about it. Do not allow the daily makeover forget on your soulmate. That comes the day when you locate a person whose thoughts take away your breath and you understand that breathing does not really matter how much.
When I understood you would live a hundred decades and no longer, I’d love to live for a hundred decades but without one day. In this manner I would not have to live without you.
Love is only a word before the moment you find somebody special who’d come along and provide the term authentic significance.
Among the main matters in life is to find love, to find out how to donate it to other people and to allow it to enter your life permanently.
Many people today think that if a individual actually misses somebody, the odds are, the object of the love feels the exact same way about these. I’m pretty certain it is not possible that you miss me just as much as I miss you.
The guy who I keep dreaming about every evening and the guy next to whom I need wake up every morning is that. You are!
To appreciate sometimes means nothing whatsoever. Being adored means something.

'Those who can do, those who can't teach,' goes the old chestnut, but Paul Hill proves it wrong again. An eminent photographer, teacher and workshop pioneer, Hill witnessed many of the major changes that transformed British photography in the 20th century, and is particularly interested in helping students develop their own vision – “to say something, rather than just show something,” as he puts it. Hill began his career as a newspaper reporter in the late 50s, in between periods as a climbing instructor, but eventually gravitated towards photography. “I worked with a great photographer on provincial newspapers called Brian Randle, who introduced me to Henri Cartier Bresson, Eugene Smith, and other masters. Brian showed me how to make photographs, rather than just take them on the wing. He was able to create a story with a single picture, and I was very impressed, so I decided to go freelance in partnership with my late wife, Angela, and went from there.” Working as a reporter and photographer in the sixties, Hill bore witness to the great social and cultural changes of that decade. “I saw immense cultural changes, in particular, and how these opened up opportunities for people from a variety of different and less privileged backgrounds. Before I became a photographer, I interviewed the Beatles, Stones and Kinks. There started to be much more interest in photography, too, with TV documentaries on people like Don McCullin and Larry Burrows. Bill Brandt's 1966 exhibition, Shadow of Light, also had a huge influence on me. I was freelancing for the Financial Times as well then, and the picture editor used to pass on copies of Creative Camera, edited by Bill Jay, who I worked with a lot later on. So I saw the work of then relatively unknown photographers like Diane Arbus, Lee Friedlander, Robert Frank, and through Bill befriended David Hurn of Magnum.” Decisive moments During the 60s and early 70s, Hill worked in places as diverse as Malaysia and Northern Ireland. “Being a press photographer taught me to think on my feet, and to be aware of possibilities – to be adaptable and inventive to get the pictures you want. I sometimes cut corners and took risks. Although I wasn't brave like Don McCullin, these characteristics are important when you're doing this job.” In 1974, Hill moved into photographic education. He became a full-time lecturer in photography at Trent Polytechnic, Nottingham, where he was later appointed head of the Creative Photography course – the forerunner to all current student-centred higher education courses in the medium. Hill recalls how he strongly encouraged students to be adaptable and express their particular point of view. “There were lots of redundancies in 70s, and there was a worry that the industry couldn't accommodate graduates of photography courses. Consequently, most graduates had to go freelance, where adaptability is really important.” While times were tough for some in the 70s, Hill reckons it was the most important decade for photography in 20th century. “We started to see new attitudes to photographic education, and more and more galleries, workshops and Arts Council grants appear – everything was new and exciting. Photography stopped being seen so much as the 'cinderella art' by painters and sculptors, and there was more and more appreciation of the photographic print in its own right.” As an influential photography teacher and member of grant-making bodies, Hill was perfectly placed to encourage and support an exciting new generation of British photographers, including Martin Parr, Chris Killip and Fay Godwin (the latter having attended one of his workshops). Reading photographs So, as an experienced academic, does Hill believe creativity can be taught? “It depends on the assignments set. You front-load module and teaching units by showing work made by photographers who have dealt with the issues and approaches you want students to be aware of. As a teacher, I wanted to come up with ideas how on you read photographs, to try and encourage people to explore the medium. That's why I called one of my best-known books Approaching Photography – there are so many different approaches to genres like portraits and landscapes. I felt it was important to make students more aware of the relevance to them of the history of photography, and to use the medium to pursue what interested them, rather than just to try and anticipate the needs of the job market when they graduated in three years time. The culture can change a lot during that period of time.” It's 40 years since Hill became a full-time teacher, and he has little nostalgia for the old ways of working. “I would never go back to analogue, and have no problem with digital cameras. Photography isn't about the image capture or equipment. And anyway, with digital, you still have the frame, you still have to express your ideas and feelings. It's not just about f stops or histograms, it's also about emotion, and to a certain extent, magic. So now I mainly use I use an iPhone and a Panasonic Lumix compact system camera. I love the portability, as you never know what's around the corner and what will captivate you. I’ve never been obsessed with ’perfect’ technique because you learn more from mistakes – the unexpected.” It's all you, you, you Hill reckons many students on his workshops (www.hillonphotography.co.uk) get terribly fixated by gear, with so many powerful cameras and accessories now affordable to the amateur. “There's a certain aesthetic that's crept in with digital cameras, a lot of images are super saturated and super sharp, and it's less about the gesture and being in the moment – I'm reminded of that old saying by Cartier Bresson, 'sharpness is a bourgeois concept.' Whatever camera you use, it's you being in that moment, hopefully recording something not seen before. There's another great quote from Alexey Brodovitch, the legendary picture editor of Vanity Fair magazine – 'if you look through the viewfinder and have seen that picture before, don't press the shutter!” So, for Hill, personal expression is fundamental to creative photography, and it's never just about copying stuff that's worked before for other people. “Camera vision – the awareness of what you ‘put’ in the frame - is so important. It's all about making a photograph, and it's about you. When I do workshops, it's interesting when students tell me about their lives, and it's not at all related to the pictures they are making. Their own uniqueness is more interesting than just following a tried and tested path.” Keep on keeping on Hill gets perplexed when students just wants to copy images and approaches that they have been told are 'good.' “You see it with landscapes, where everyone wants to capture a long exposure 'slow' waterfall. It's like somebody else is making the image, not them. Obviously, with beginners, you have to give people some pointers and ideas, but as your expertise grows, you need to be thinking about what are you pointing at, and why. Photography isn't simply about capturing 'views.' What's your reaction to this scene, what is there for you? This is what you need to be thinking about. If you want to be successful as a photographer, being different eventually works. Look at people who have taken chances and risks, done something different – those are the models to follow. You need to develop an attitude of risk taking. For a lot of hobbyist photographers, it's just an enjoyable pastime. They can produce a tolerable copy of something they think is good - and why shouldn't they! But as a measure of quality, it becomes a bit repetitive and boring after a while. So I try to encourage them to see beyond the cliché.” Now 73, Hill has no plans to retire, and continues to run workshops all over Europe, either on his own, with partner, Maria Falconer, or two seasoned professionals, Nick Lockett and Martin Shakeshaft. “After I left De Montfort University, Leicester, where I ran an MA in photography, people thought I'd retired, but for me, photography is like being an actor – you eventually just fall over on stage. When I was young I decided to make the most of being alive by doing what I love. Photography is still exciting; there is the digital revolution, changes in education and publishing, different platforms for your work, and so on. During the time we've been doing this interview, more photos have probably been taken than during the first 100 years of photography. What better way to exercise my brain than to stay involved with image making?” Tips * To succeed as a photographer, you need to be technically competent – I may use an iPhone and compact now, but I was able to deliver the goods with an SLR or TLR when I worked as a press photographer. * Once you develop technical competence, you need to be opportunistic, passionate, adaptable and a chance taker. * Hard work alone is no guarantee of success – you also need to be persistent and curious. * For me, most interesting images transcend the purely informational. They should also pose questions, rather than just show me something. I want to be moved, excited, engaged, and enthralled. In the bag “Nowadays I use a Panasonic DCM-LX5 when teaching my workshops, with a fixed 24-90mm equivalent lens, and an iPhone. I like the fact that I can see – and show - the image straight away, it’s so immediate and visceral.”

Startup Survival Rate – Success & Failure Statistics
Every year, thousands of ambitious entrepreneurs start their own businesses. They are motivated, have hope, and look positively into the future. But especially in times of crisis, it is hard to stay alive as a start-up. How many startups on average manage to become successful, and how can they best prepare themselves against crises to survive them, and even leave the situation stronger than before?
Is it Hard to Survive?
What the expert’s outline is far from quick answers and makes it clear that companies and people do not so much learn from mistakes, but rather get to know themselves better through the errors they make. Failure is the occasion to look at oneself and to define goals more precisely. The creation during these processes is called mindful organisation.
Around 50 per cent of all start-ups fail within five years, it is presumed, and even that is still comparatively good compared to the fate of ideas. Data-based companies such as Google or Facebook test almost all suggestions for improvements to their websites in so-called A/B tests: They show randomly selected users the innovations and measure whether they are clicked on more often or used more intensively than the previous pages. The result of hundreds of thousands of such tests: Around 90 per cent of all new ideas are worse than what is already there.
Top 10 Success & Failure Startup Statistics at a glance
20% of startups fail within the first year
over 50% of startups fail after 5 years
over 70% of startups fail after 10 years
a third of small businesses get started with less than $5,000 USD
58% of startups get started with less than $25,000 UDS
40% of startups are profitable
30% of startups are break-even
30% are continually losing money
82% of businesses fail because of cash flow problems
$10,000 is the average amount of startup capital required by a small business owner
*The data are surveys from other articles and refer to startups from the US market. However, the % values do not differ significantly worldwide.
It all seems very negative at this point. But never let that discourage you as a founder. There are several factors that speak for the success of any start-up. Bill Gross, an American investor, fund manager, and philanthropist, describes in one of his TED, talks about the factors that lead to startup success. According to Bill, after reviewing hundreds of companies, he created an image on how to assure success for your startup.
1. Funding
You might think that the amount of funding has everything to do with the success of a start-up. But according to Bill Gross, this is not a direct indicator of success. Nevertheless, startups that received funding have a higher success ratio than non-funded startups.
Well-funded companies accounted for a success ratio of 14%.
2. Business Model
Although a business model is a clear advantage when establishing a company, it can be done without it. YouTube is the best example of this as they didn’t have a business model in the beginning. However, it can only be an advantage for a start-up to create a business model, as the company must have a clear path to follow to generate revenues.
Having a clear structure in the company can more easily lead to later success and according to Bill has a success ratio of 24%
3. Ideas
The very name of his own brand ‘Idealab’ shows how much Bill loves big ideas. Having the right idea and the “ah-ha” moment, leads, according to Bill, to a success ratio of 28% for start-up success.
4. Team
A well-functioning team is essential, not only for a start-up but also for established companies. Especially in crisis situations, but also in everyday working life, the founder must be able to trust his team completely. In his TED talk Bill quotes Mike Tyson who said: “Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face.” A good team is able to adapt to the true reality of a demanding customer. So maybe Bill views the team as the crucial point for the success of the startup.
Although team is one of the significant factors in the success of a start-up, according to Bill’s studies it has a 32% success ratio.
5. Timing
‘The idea matters a lot. But timing matters more.‘
With a staggering 42% of the difference between success and failure, timing is the winner. As an example, Bill observed that many investors gave up on AirBNB because most of them thought it was strange for a person to rent a room in their house to a stranger. Apart from a great business model and a great team, AirBNB had the timing on its side. It was created during the recession when people needed extra money. The right timing made AirBNB as successful as it is nowadays.
Not only AirBnb profited from the perfect timing but also the worldwide known company Uber benefited from the recession. The drivers were seeking some extra money to increase their income.
However, there is no recipe to guarantee success for a start-up but these 5 factors can help your startup to grow and become more profitable.
How to Overcome a Crisis
Start-ups often not only have to face the competition and everyday pressure but also have to survive in times of crisis and make the best out of the situation. This can often be very challenging and nerve-wracking. However, the crisis can be an opportunity for some companies in the medium or long term, from which the stronger start-ups can benefit. During the dot.com crash in 2000 and again in 2008, many of the world’s market leaders such as Google, Amazon, and Salesforce grew as startups and benefited extremely from the crisis.
The aim of any crisis management is to preserve the company. In general, early action is the most essential instrument of crisis management. Even the first signs, such as declining sales or liquidity bottlenecks, must be taken seriously. Professional crisis management is often only possible with external experts. However, every company can also carry out crisis management itself and adapt to the respective crisis in the best possible way.
Here are three tips on how your start-up can survive a crisis or even profit from it:
Time for Innovation
It is important that your team and your business does not freeze during this time. It is not the time to simply continue doing the same monotonous tasks every day. You need to be creative and think outside the box. Don’t be afraid to deviate from your original business plan. Gather your team and brainstorm your ideas.
Observe Customer Needs
Customer needs will always change during a crisis, and as a start-up, you have to keep up with the trend. This aspect is linked to the previous one, innovation. Try to find solutions with your team not to lose your customers and in the best case to expand your customer base. As an entrepreneur, it is your responsibility to minimise operational errors and to approach new challenges. Time management, in particular, plays a major role in achieving a change like your enterprise, if necessary.
Have a close look at your finances
The number one priority of every founder must be to avoid that the company runs out of money. In a crisis, many founders are afraid of losing their start-ups. Explore the areas where liquidity can be maintained. Use government programs to mitigate the financial impact of the crisis. Explore short-term working and try to start negotiations on the next financing round. However, if you don’t see any other possibility, you might consider downsizing your team. Instead, many startups choose to work fewer days, reducing labor costs so that they don’t have to spend more resources on hiring to rebuild the team after the crisis.
Conclusion
In conclusion, it can be noted that you should take advantage of the opportunities that arise and be prepared to adapt your product to the evolving requirements to assure your startups’ survival. Use these chances not only to achieve incremental growth but also to strengthen your brand and reputation.
