I am dead fucking serious when I say I wish I saw more fat women in public. I want to see fat models. I want to see fat women in department stores getting absolutely HYPE when they find racks and racks of clothing in their size and sizes up, so they too can get the "oversized, baggy fit" like women who fit into smalls and mediums. I want to see fat women wearing crop tops proudly and rocking mad midriff. I want to see fat women trying on clothing for their friends and family and saying "look! it compliments my body shape! it's like it was made for me!" I want to see fat women with "cankles" wearing pretty jingling anklets skipping and jumping just to show them off. I want to see fat women on TV, in magazines, on billboards, in all manner of ads, and in online shop images because I want to see my fucking self and all the women I know who don't see enough of themselves. I want to see fat women living, loving, and being visibly proud of who they are because they are beautiful, WE are beautiful. I want to see fat women because fat women need to see other fat women.

It's honestly fucked up to me how everything associated with wellness, like fitness and what have you, is associated with "being skinny."
I told somebody how I wanted to go to the gym after work, and it was surprising to me how they responded, "What for, you're already skinny," as though your only goal at the gym should - or can - be to "get skinny"
Diet culture and whatnot is a fucking disease.

So so tired of people who think being fat is something that's being "promoted" or "glorified". Sorry for thinking we shouldn't continuously shove unsolicited dieting and workout advice on someone's face because they're fat.

So I was scrolling and I uh. Got this ad.
Tumblr media
Which like... ugh, you know? Like I really thought we were moving past this as a society but whatever we've just rebranded the same old diet culture to... whatever this is. And I was ready to move on with my life, but then I thought: I thought there weren't any drugs specifically fda approved for weight loss? And then I recognized "bupropion" (aka wellbutrin) and sure enough, upon a closer look,

Huh??? The topiramate one is especially egregious because what they're advertising it for (lowering appetite) isn't even related to what it's approved for (seizures and migraines).
This like... can't be legal, right? Like, something about this is definitely illegal? I mean it's for sure unethical but aren't there laws about this shit?
And the annoying thing is, when this DOES get shut down, it's going to make it harder for people who DO need these medications to get them and add more hoops to jump through, the same way that when Cerebral got cracked down on, it became like ten times harder for me to get my adderall prescription. Son of a bitch. Every doctor involved in this sham should be fucking ashamed of themselves.

don't know how to say this in a nice way but. the food recalls we're having? the shortages of (and high prices) of eggs due to bird flu? they're not JUST because of lax regulations under trump though they are. they're also because animal agriculture when done intensively is fraught with risk and because we literally don't have the space to sustain ourselves like this. and some of us are so privileged by the fact that this global clusterfuck of a food system we have is designed to feed the western empire that they don't realise how bad it is
I know going vegan or even eating less meat is not possible for many people but i am BEGGING you to please, let's all collectively get our heads out of our asses and realise for one more time that just because individual behaviour does very little it doesn't mean that there isn't a LOT of collective action and systemic change that needs to happen. because nutritious food from plants should be cheap and easy to access but it isn't! because animal products, despite taking a lot more resources to get to the point of consumption are heavily subsidised. because our whole food system is based on competition rather than making sure everyone gets enough to survive, starting with the most vulnerable who aren't going to have as many options as the rest of us.

i’m over it. i’m over calorie deficits. i’m over counting calories at all. i’m over “guilt free snacks” and “clean desserts”. i’m over numbers and stats. i’m over restriction. i’m over the fear mongering around food. i’m over it. i will eat protein and carbs and sugar, i will give myself calories. i will eat salads and pasta and brownies and everything in between, not as a punishment and not as a reward but because i genuinely enjoy them, and i will acknowledge the goodness in all of them. i’m not listening to diet culture anymore. i’m over it.

I am once again pissed at diet culture. I just watched three tiktoks in a row. how to cook dairyfree. How to meal prep without carbs. How to make healthy snacks without sugar. I keep getting (and stupidly clicking on) those articles that are like "ten things you shouldn't eat if you want to lose weight" and "why xy foods are bad for you" and wouldn't you know it last week i got recommendated articles that said those specific foods were super healthy and great for weight loss and now i should "never eat" them?? Is there any food we're still allowed to eat without being made to feel guilty?

I don’t want a glow up, or a dream body, or a transformation. I just want a cute space to live in, and good food to eat, and fun clothes to wear, all of which I can do just as I am.
