today was not your day as you’ve been cranky the entirety of it, every little thing seemed to tick you over the edge and now having guest in the house didn’t seem to help out either. the scent of many people—other than his—lingered in the air, and your tail immediately twitched in irritation. you hadn’t been in the mood for socializing to begin with, and now you were stuck in a room with six extra voices talking over each other.

“hey, look who finally decided to show up!” jake grinned, giving you a playful nudge.

you flattened your ears and let out a low grumble, brushing past him. “don’t touch me.” you hated giving him attitude as jake was the one you were the most closest with but you couldn’t help yourself. you tail brushing against your legs as it rest in between, feeling guilty at the look jake gave you.

“whoa, someone’s cranky,” sunghoon teased, raising an eyebrow.

heeseung shot you a warning look, but you ignored it, slumping onto the couch and pulling your knees to your chest. you weren’t here to entertain anyone. your tail flicked aggressively behind you, a clear sign of your sour mood, but they didn’t seem to get the hint.

“did you eat yet, y/n?” jungwon asked kindly. a sweet smile on his face as he had brought you your favorite food. you loved it whenever he would bring it as he’s always the nicest one to you.

“i’m not hungry,” you muttered, staring at your lap.

“maybe that’s why she’s acting like this,” jay chuckled. “she’s like a little cat that needs food before she starts attacking.” he giggled a bit but was cut off by your hissing which only alerted heeseung.

“enough!,” heeseung suddenly snapped.

your ears perked up, and you looked at him in surprise. his usual playful tone was gone, replaced by something sharper, colder. it had been a long time since you had seen heeseung this mad and maybe you just thought you had gone a bit too far now. your tail that was once flicking aggressively, was now tucked behind you.

“you’ve being rude all day,” he said firmly, eyes locking onto yours. “they’re just trying to talk to you, and you’re acting like a brat.”

his words hit like a slap. your heart sank, and your claws instinctively gripped the fabric of your sleeves. he had never talked to you like that before—especially not in front of others. your tail stilled, and a lump formed in your throat. you gazed up to look at the others as they looked at you with concern, your eyes met sunoo’s as his lips jutted into a pout.

“i’m not—!” your voice wavered, but heeseung was already sighing in frustration, rubbing his temples like you were some kind of burden. “go to the room. now.” heeseung’s voice was cold, cutting through the tension like a blade. “i’m done with your attitude. unless you want to embarrass yourself even more, leave.”

that was it. your chest tightened, and before you knew it, tears welled up in your eyes. you blinked rapidly, trying to hold them back, but the embarrassment of being scolded in front of everyone made it worse.

you stood up abruptly, your ears pressing flat against your head. “i—i’m sorry—!.”

without another word, you rushed out and ran into your shared bedroom, ignoring the concerned calls behind you.

you curled up on the bed, burying your face into the pillow. your tail lay limp beside you, no longer flicking with irritation—just sadness.

the door creaked open, followed by the sound of hesitant footsteps.

“kitten…?”

you tensed at the nickname but didn’t respond.

a weight dipped the bed beside you, and you felt warm fingers hesitantly brushing through your hair.

“i shouldn’t have said that,” heeseung murmured, guilt lacing his voice. “i was frustrated, but that doesn’t excuse me talking to you like that—especially in front of them.”

your ears twitched, but you still didn’t look at him. heeseung sighed and shifted closer, gently nudging you.

“i know you weren’t feeling good today. i should’ve asked you what was wrong instead of snapping at you.” his fingers trailed down to your tail, lightly stroking it—a silent apology.

you sniffled, finally peeking up at him. his expression was soft, regretful, his usually confident demeanor replaced by uncertainty.

“i just don’t like it when you’re mad at me,” you mumbled.

his lips parted slightly before he leaned down, pressing a kiss to your temple. “i don’t like it either, baby.”

he pulled you up on his lap, wrapping his arms around your small frame. you melted into his embrace, purring softly as he rubbed soothing circles into your back.

“can you forgive me, baby?” he whispered.

you hesitated for a second before nodding against his chest. “only if you give me extra kisses.”

heeseung chuckled, pecking your lips softly as his lips trailed down your neck and then back again towards your lips, holding you tighter against his frame. “deal.”
