We Are Ep.2 thoughts in chronological order

what peem did in the car trying to convince phum to part their ways is what the youth calls ✨a yap sesh✨ (he tried ig) (this is what this post is as well)

we're probably never seeing phum use those things he bought ever, he'll just keep hanging around in his engineer shirt

peem has so many ppl ready to square up for him including his auntie and he is recognised by tan as someone who loves his friends very much (which makes the fact tan has sold him away for time with his crush TWICE even worse lmao)

i don't really get phum's insistence on not telling anyone about being phum's "slave", not even tan who got him into the mess or his best friend but it's just his ego ig (aside from plot reasons)

i find pun more relatable now - tags along for the funsies and gets happy around fire

not convinced the beans and pork scene wasn't an ad but im not sure how cause i didn't clock any labels

the scene where peem brings in food and laughs with q feels like improv or breaking left in lol

fai missing cause of upset stomach might be some sort of foreshadowing and i'm a bit worried bout her

the professor is handsome <3 and could pas off as chimon's sibling in a show

q absorbing those noodles was very satisfying idek why lol

peem and q's friendship is in the background but the show still constantly makes it a point that they are really good and loyal best friends

i thought "oh theyre gonna make the sharing food a thing in the future" so when boys showed up i was like "ah, we're doing it immediately? bit boring" but then he didn't share!! joey never shares food!! i think he will in the future though, him being a foodie is a constant thing so i'm guessing we're using it as a sign of compromise in the name of love or smth

satang playing this type of character felt a bit much in the first episode but i think he's getting more comfortable with the role as the show progresses and it look more natural; i'm glad his character isn't the googly eyed mentee and he actually teases a lot and snaps back but knows when to stop playing because q isn't the most patient person. (matt having to jump in like "bro he's serious" was so funny cause i hadn't clocked that either hahah)

the way we can see q flustered at certain points but seemingly unbothered at others is fun because his reactions aren't entirely predictable at this stage as we're still getting to know him. also it's mad cute when he clearly doesn't know what to do with himself

idk how he hasn't asked toey bout why he's in art yet, ig they're just now starting to properly get to know each other

toey took one look at q's back and decided "that's a cool ass aura to base my entire future around!" and tbh that's very young adult of him

q regularly asking about peem's work being submitted, he's honestyly worried <3

the way i cheered for peem burping in phum's face and then went "oh he came back :(" bahah

phum is definitely already planning his day and schedule around peem, i don't think he'd ever tell his friends because he wants to actually keep it going so one of the reasons is to not run into his faculty friends including tan and the second is to have lunch with his unconscious crush AND I AM VERY HAPPY WITH THIS STUPIDITY

thought peem could overhear the convo behind the car and realise what he was exchanged for but nope, he just dipped; i think that might be a plot point for later

phum not knowing tan has a crush on fang is so weird cause he genuinely acted like he knew while taunting tan, i don't have an explanation for that

fang is their p'!! i was so conviced he was the little brother, ig because of his big round eyes and the way phum acted all protective (that just makes phum cuter tbh)

what is the age difference between bar owner and prof cause i ship it

it took me a bit to realise the nongs were there instead of the full arts gang and i was glad to see toey and q together (also the green sweater is beautiful on toey, hope it makes a comeback)

i was ready to believe fang had some sort of falling out with tan with the way he treated him but tan beaming and enjoying a dreadful setting (no talking, awkward sitting around in a bar with mid music and alcohol) shows that man is glowing just from being in fang's presence (i hope he reaches ridiculous levels of lame for him)

i was screeching when i realised where things were going with wasted peem and seeing him n the bench outside had me exctaticcc (ofc he didnt book a taxi. and ofc they cant just order one for him noww could they)

phum cockblocks but he kinda has to cause there's no reason for fang to be there otherwise; once the ridiculous proposition of him taking peem home comes up he doesn't really fight it at all - he wants to be with peem, sure, but i think he's also pretty okay with tan and fang being a thing

the way i was screaming "just buy the flowers rich boy!!! he wants to go home" and then the kid went to get more lol

ofc he couldnt just leave the flowers in the backseat, peem just has to have them in his lap.. and the seatbelt scene was so predictable but it's too much of a classic with all "figuring things out" parts of a romance that i can't complain

it makes absolutely zero sense aside from people liking people (cause fang knows what he's doing too) that phum would drive peem to his house - a place where tan has sleepovers at all the time and phum hasn't been to before. fang is his brother and they can sleep at the same place as well even if they don't live together but nope. also THAT CAR HAS EMPTY BACKSEATS, if phum wanted to he would've forced them to ride with him to keep an eye on tan

fang is probably planning to launch a big revenge attack on peem and that'd be so funny, those four can get way too entangled, i could get DRAMA out of their plans and schemes (this show is more hidden agenda than hidden agenda was)

tan's energy with fang reminds me of the duracell bunny lmao it's late at night and they've had a few drinks but his mind and body are all focusedon wooing fang (who is playing nonchalant but has probably had a crush on tan as well)

also no way he was just gonna leave tan on the street lol

toey and q aleady work so well together, toey knows his effect on q more or less and q doesn't shy away from being at least a bit vulnerable as of rn; i think they can be one of the best if not the best couple if they have a proper storyline; im certainly enjoying it the more than i thought i would

the fake blush on both toey and peem is ridiculous esp up close but ig they're cartoonishly drnk anyways

auntie took note and now doesn't do facemasks at night, otherwise it would've been an amazing first meeting

"he likes to whine" and she's the one who can't leave the room from complaining sm lol auntie is so cute

ahh, the mandatory "a look around the room shows me you're truly passionate about what you do and you're deeper than i thought" scene..thankfully he didn't mutter "you like painting this much, huh" to nobody cause i was ready to yell HES AN ARTS MAJOR like he kicked you in the balls for a reason doofus

theyre giving us so many closeups of these two and i keep thinking "this is so drama/y im embarrassed" but i have no shame, if it's fun it's fun (and it's pondphuwin, youre not gonna hear me complain about looking at pond's face for too long or from too close)

reaching out to touch his face was a bold choice thoughh i lost it

rambling ass thought hence the readmore, but i had an interaction with my boss earlier that im still thinking about:

basically a customer was making some errant comment about eating chili, like, okay whatever, and my boss says something about how like. okay why should i give a shit. obv not to her, he was perfectly polite to her, but after when i said hes really good at pretending to be nice, he said sthn like 'yeah i have to be polite because i cant just say bitch idc' but also yeah why should he give a fuck really, he doesnt know her at all and he doesnt care and he has work to do. he is someone who clearly has been taught to always be polite and shit, right? now, i also dont really give a fuck about what a customer i dont know is having for dinner, but i also didnt really grow up with the heavy expectation to pretend to care abt small talk. i have to now, for my job, be passively polite, but i also have to do other things that dont come naturally to me, like try not to curse, etc. i also, as an adult now, understand the social role of being passively polite to people as a way to show like. we're all people who should at least care about each other in the grand scheme of things, and to not make things needlessly hostile- i dont care, but i also dont feel as irritated as he seemed, because i dont give a fuck one way or the other, and i dont feel such lifelong social pressure. to me its like wearing shoes. i understand the need to do so in public but at home i like keeping my feet on the ground. basically the thought im rolling around in my head like a marble is how i wonder if its .. creating its own issues, when people feel socially pressured to be super polite or pretend to care about each other, and its like, seen as this super important thing? i wonder if this is why so many neurotypical people and/or people who are on the spectrum slightly but mask a lot wind up seeming like theyre about to explode. OR, if its just a symptom of being super neurotic? because this dude is also super fucking neurotic, chronically stressed, and kind of grumpy at times

see, ive never really known how to mask, not really, and my parents never like taught me like super specific rules and manners and shit that other people seem to learn, i did have to learn a lot of this later, and consciously, but also as an adult now i tend to gravitate towards both autistic and deeply neurotic people so i have no idea how deeply these kinds of pressures and stresses are going on in others' heads. the only person in our friend group who wasnt autistic and was tied in knots over social rituals also had ocd and was excruciatingly neurotic so i cant rly judge all of social interaction off that, though it does explain how a lot of people act i guess

anyway its interesting bc this thought seems to come up a lot from other retail workers and especially cashiers, like being really spitefully annoyed with customers- and i completely understand why and where the feeling comes from i just find it hard to muster that much ire myself on a day to day basis over the really banal stuff BUT this is probably the most mentally healthy ive been in decades AND "feeling" my feelings is, due to autism, kind of weird and complicated at times so idk

#tldr: are neurotypical people/masking people more prone to anger over faking polite small talk due to the internalized pressure they feel #that i dont really grok because that was never drilled into my head so i just dont really give a fuck 1 way or another #or am i getting a biased sample here by only knowing people who are either autistic or deeply neurotic

thank u for giving me an excuse to talk about my au where ray and violet are childhood friends, but it's still the same time period as when they meet as adults. i call it the "my s/i gets to indulge in 80s stuff for kids (while being age appropriate for it for once)" au.

ray and violet meet and fall in love when they're very young, but they're SO young they don't know it yet. Janine is violet's best female friend and they're both the weird girls in school. all the ghostbusters are also childhood friends. violet and janine have sleepovers on summer nights and watch scary movies and those horror anthology shows that are on at 11pm that theyre not supposed to be watching. the ghostbusters just happen to also be having a sleepover that night and they and the girls all end up at the 7 Eleven after sunset. ray and violet buy big gulps and trade marvel trading cards in the parking lot. they go back to the houses they were sleeping over at and their friends tease them about their obvious crushes on each other, but they've been friends for so long they can't imagine their lives without the other. peter prank calls janines house at 11:45pm.

by the time prom comes around, its not even a question that ray and violet will be going together. ray has been violet's best friend even through that weird phase boys go through where they're supposed to stop being friends with girls. at prom, ray confesses that he's in love with violet, but he never wants to ruin their friendship, because she's the most special and important friend he's ever had, the person who understands him the way no one else has ever understood him, the only person who never made him feel bad for all the weird stuff he likes, the person he could count on to go to the comic book store with him and marathon star wars movies with him. violet is overjoyed because OF COURSE she loves him too!!! he's the sweetest boy she ever met, the one who always makes her feel safe from all the bullies in school, who never thought she was weird for liking horror and cartoons and that alien autopsy special. after that night, they've been together ever since.

species specific addison hcs:

(aka "transformers fan makes addisons more complicated than they actually need to be, more at 11")

addisons are androids mass produced in factories. They’re made in batches of about 4-5 individuals. each batch of addisons has a specific soul frequency that theyre all intune with. basically they can feel each others life force. they cant tell each others emotions by this connection but its a good way to tell if someone in your batch is dead or alive

this obviously comes with the downside of being the first to know when your batchmates die. losing that connection to their batchmate won't kill an addison or impair their ability to advertise but it is obviously deeply traumatizing

"addison" is just the name of the model of robot they are. they just use it as a collective last name to make things easier

addisons main processor (brain) and soul are contained in a disk slotted into their chest. this disk can be removed and slotted into a new body anytime. as long as its another addison body. if they try to inhabit a body not specifically made for their processors itll basically fry itself out of the effort of trying to actually Use that body

most of the addisons vital mechanisms are contained in their chest and torso so you could theoretically remove their head or any of their limbs and theyd be completely fine (save for them going blind)

addisons are hardwired to be Extremely social and will go insane from loneliness if theyre isolated for too long (like left alone for over a couple months long). this often results in them latching onto the first person that gives them attention and becoming extremely clingy to that person OR being mortally terrified of any and all social interaction and falling deeper into isolation out of fear

the above reason is often why a lot of batchmates stick together for large chunks of their life. or at least until they get more relationships later in life. i mean even if you didnt get along with someone youd still keep them around if they were the only thing keeping u from going bonkers yknow?

addisons colors are painted on and can be changed really easily. kind of like dyeing your hair. most addisons have a "default" color though and dont really change it to keep up branding

addisons are adults from day one but they arent built with identities, theyre given some clothes and a serial number and then let out into cyber city to build their own identity. its mostly left up to them and any older addison/other darkner to make an identity for themselves

they have basic information (like how to talk and walk and advertise) uploaded onto their processors when they step off the conveyor belt for the first time so they dont Act like newborns but young addisons still dont know a lot about the world or how to build relationships

the most common way for an addison to die is for them to stop being profitable. once that happens their manufacturers initiate a "recall" of that particular addison. a recall is basically a killswitch and offlines them permanently since their manufacturers dont wanna waste resources on addisons that wont make them money. addisons can only go a year and a half with very little/no profits to justify recalling. an addison dropping dead in the streets of cyber city or even mid-conversation/mid-task isnt an uncommon occurrence unfortunately

their voices work like vocaloids. instead of voiceboxes they just have voicebanks of pre-recorded phrasez and sounds that they use to talk. this also means that talking to an addison for more than a couple minutes can start to sound weird since their pronunciation of words or delivery can be wonky and their voices dont have that much emotion. they also all have the same voice because their manufacturers didnt want to spend more money than necessary making multiple voices for them

on that note. addisons under extreme stress rely more on "adspeak" to get by. spamton is a prime example of this

addisons are quite stiff and don’t bend more than they need to. most can’t even pull their knees to their chest or bend over to touch their toes

addisons are tall by default since they have to stand out in their surroundings. most of them average about 6'3 to 6'9 but more successful addisons have been known to get body mods that make themselves taller to distinguish themselves from other addisons

addisons have heels built into their feet. they need specially made shoes because of this

addisons can technically purr. it’s not actual purring, but it sounds similar enough that most consider it purring

body modifications for addisons are very popular but also very expensive to buy and install. They only tend to show up on addisons that are super successful. some addisons specialize in installing and selling body mods entirely (yes addisons advertising to other addisons is infact a thing. gotta make that money somehow). common body mods include but are not limited to: voice mods, additional limbs/limb extenders (to like. make u taller yknow), different heads, glow-in-the-dark paintjobs, hair re-rooting, etcetc

addisons cant cry. they are physically incapable of crying or emoting much with their faces at all

addisons have screens for faces. yes they still have the long noses. do not question how that works i couldnt tell you either (im a very tired artist, theres your explanation)

addisons have a metal endoskeleton and a hard plastic shell around all their internal mechanisms and pistons and gears. their disk is placed in the center of their chest

addisons are prone to rusting sometimes. they take baths in wd-40 to fix this otherwise their joints will start squeaking like old door hinges

addisons have plugs on their backs and plug into the wall to recharge energy. recharging is basically synonymous with sleeping to them

addisons dont actually know what lightners do with their products. they understand what their products are of course but they have no clue why lightners need them or what they do with the products. lightners (organics in general and Especially humans) confuse and gross them out so much

some addisons are obsessed with looking organic (some to almost fetish levels of obsession) and get body mods specifically to make them look human. others get body mods to make them look More robotic bc they think humans are gross and weird. most dont care about appearances though

the earrings i draw addisons wearing are also built into them. they literally cant take the earrings off. permanent drip

I need to rant about helluva boss xD

Personally I’m not sure why I still watch it tbh xD I think it’s the art style mostly. This show gets so much praise and I really don’t get why.... First of all the Stolitz ship. Ah yes, the Stolitz shit.

Okay, so until ep 1 of season 2 came out, there was still a bit of room for speculation about how Blitz and Stolas feel about each other. And this ep literally KILLED the ship. Like...how are y’all still shipping this?? xD

We know for sure that Blitz was always a little shit using Stolas. And yes, I Know he had a fucked up father. But he still kinda decided to grow into a little shit, while Stolas for example did not. Blitz used Verosica, he used Stolas pretending to be his friend and he’s using him now. The only exception to this dynamic might be Fizz. So where’s that cute, romantic part you’re talking about?

They met as children, had one day where both had kinda fun. Because yeah...they’re kids. I mean Blitz had Fizz. So...I’d assume it wasn’t all that special playing with Stolas. For Stolas, it was a rare occasion. Okay. That’s pretty one-sided to begin with honestly. And again, that was one day in their childhood (if I’m not completely mistaken). And I’m damn well sure Blitz didn’t think of Stolas until he decided to steal that book xD which is...pretty fucking normal really. They met once. (Also...maybe it’s just me, but their friendship felt super out of place for me. And...how does Blitz and Stolas being around the same age work at all?)

Then they meet again when Blitz is once again, attempting to steal from him. And then he fucks him out of pity. Back in episode 7, I kinda got Blitz’ point when he said he was never more then a sextoy for Stolas. At this point, I was actually starting to think okay, maybe it’s not completely one-sided. Maybe there’s more to that.

But here’s the thing. I don’t think there is more to that. Like...things just don’t add up in this show. The characters seem to keep switching their intentions and it’s just weird at this point.

The circus killed Stolitz. xD and I really hope these two don’t end up together.

And spare me those THEYRE IN HELL HELL IS TOXIC bullshit. No. There are pefectly fine ships in this show.

So coming back to the character’s switching intentions problem...

I think helluva boss is actually meant to be deep...but the show just ain’t deep. They’re constantly killing the potential there is by ‘solving’ things way to quickly and handling character development inconsequently.

Once I think I got what’s going on in a character they’re acting out and it’s not ‘ohh, plottwist’-surprising. I’m just constantly WTFing at what everybody’s deal is.

Like what the fuck is everybody’s deal in that show?? xD Character’s don’t give a fuck (or maybe just the fuck looking at Stolitz) and all of the sudden BOOM deep shit to that and actually we do care. But...none of them didn’t act like that at all before... and it feels OUT OF PLACE.

The whole show’s goal feels all over the place for me. It’s like an edgy teenager (no offense to all the edgy teenagers out there :D) tried to make an adult show cause they’re GROWN UP NOW! Let’s get to the adultery by...using sex, drugs and...lots of CUSSING! yeah! AND OH, it needs to have deep plottwists...

But actually the writers don’t really seem to know how to do that. Sorry to all helluva boss fans who might read that. But I just can’t stand this ‘we pretend to be something we are not’ attitude.

ok now onto My Thoughts (which are considerably less Important than hers)

-ok shun leaping onto his monster to save a small child then everyone being like 'omg i cant believe he'd do that..wow…hes not so bad…' LIKE? YOU THOUGHT HE WAS HEARTLESS??? dude cares SO much hes been consistently trying to stop a war and find his sister and stuff??? jkdashkj (also it was just very dramatic and Cool and made me laugh bc he was SO serious and straight faced during the whole thing. nerves of STEEL)

-'i wonder if kurosaki is a lot like crow'….theyre both bird boys. theyre uniting to be bird FRIENDS and FIST BUMPED OVER IT WHY AM I TEARING UP. SHUN LOST WITH A SMILE TOO….im glad theyre friends and birds and birdfriends. even jack smiled over crow winning AAAUGH. STOPPP. too cute. didnt expect this ep to be so WHOLESOME

-the subs said smth like 'youre one of us' when they were through speaking (which is lovely bc they have a solidarity in that they both have causes theyre fighting for) but the more literal translation of what was said was closer to 'you're one of my/our friends now' from crow. Augh. AUGGH. ;_;

my god the sora meeting up with yuzu then their monsters working together (in an ADORABLE dance sequence) was THEE best thing ever like 2 eps in a row have been BANGERS and making me unlock new emotions. I love both of their decks SO much too????

screenshots that made me bawl my eyes out tbh. like I literally, actually cried a little JKADSHKFJ sora has FRIENDS for the first time and he LOVES THEM and they TRUST HIM he found the best friends ever and its SO tender. this is why I watch ygo btw. sobbing in the club rn.

-yuzu declares shes gotta save yuya bc he is, once again, locked up. girl boss protag! …of course tsukikage interrupted and tbh he and sora had Points abt it being better if sora goes and gets yuya since hes…yeah, trained for this kinda stuff but they all trust each other and the whole teacher and student thing with yuzu and sora…god theyre all so CUTE this is EXACtly what I wanted ;__; exactly what i NEEDED.

-yugo v serena started exactly how I expected jdshjk I LOVE how constantly Pissed serena is. shes SO blunt and I love her for it. (but also wARRANTED he got way too clingy fast and im sure thats Weird for her. gotta assume her and yuri werent…like, even acquaintances or anything by way she acts around the yu boys) she did make sure to let yugo know she expected a lot from him from his last duel which was Something. but my god yugo is SO in love with rin isnt he kjdsahkj hes got like that wholesome childhood friends puppy love, the way he imagines her, and its REALLY cute. cannot wait to actually meet rin…

-roget is so damn annoying that everytime he speaks i just hear the adults from the peanuts cartoons so i cant recall, but hes saying smth abt wanting serena to be a symbol for the commons and the tops and im like. he wants her and yuzu so academia cant have them and has his own plans for them, but. does he know WHY academia wants them? im gonna need him to share with the class. I still need to know too

-also its rly annoying that roget is cheesing the duel in serena's favor. but also I'm always rooting for the girls so like. i get it, but if shes gonna win I want it to be on her own merits yk… (rin seems so cute from the flashbacks also, she always WON IN THEIR DUELS?? GIRL IS STRONG IM EVEN MORE EXCITED TO MEET HER)

-yuyas thng where he can astral project (??) himself into his alt selves bodies is creepy and i KNOW its prob not supposed to be but it IS and I Dont Like it. Pls dont Dissolve yugo too like u did with yuto. maybe it only happens to them when theyre not in their dimension. maybe yugo will absorb yuya instead. I DOUBT it since yuya is protag protected but still

-….yugo being like 'no, i LIKE it that when youre in trouble the course changes and u get an action card!! its cool and a good thing!!!" OK FEMINIST KING JHDSKJF. hes great and I love him. -much as I hate to see her lose her attitude makes PERFECT sense given how she was raised in academia. duels are not Games to her, theyre tools, and she hates relying on whats basically handouts from roget to win or dumb luck. perfectly understandable and I appreciate her stubbornness and sense of honor abt it. but gotta agree with yugo that nah girl take the W if u can jkdhsjk. she ofc changes her tune later in the duel but Still

-oh my god yuri is HERE im going to PUKE just seeing his silhouette made me get so hyped up. i dont even KNOW him hes barely had ANY screentime but the way the other characters and even fucking roget hyped him make me like. dude u better be a hammy villain i have HIGH hopes for u. if hes good at being squirrely he WILL be my fav yuya counterpart EASY bc looks wise hes already my fav. pink and purple is unbeatable. but hes just STANDING THERE. MENACINGLY. with his lil bunny hair...tbh kinda cute.

-AWWW serena being like 'why am i getting kind of excited…' girl has had so little Hype in her life and this is def her first time hearing ppl cheer for her im gonna cry. id hype u up bestie ur SO cool and good at dueling….AND SHE GOT TO SAY LADIES AND GENTLEMEN THIS TIME. and SHE IS ENJOYING HERSELF GOOD FOR HER. I did kinda figure she woulnt win or go all the way (and I assume the same goes for yugo...) but. still very proud of her. and her and yugo had funnnn together ;w; yugo is lowkey befriending ALL the yuzu counterparts isnt he. king shit! love him!

-I know this shot of yuri standing is supposed to be menacing and threatening but he looks like a little. i dont know. like a littol kitty or perhaps a pug dog. he said :I look at him:

fiveya obvs i ship this since this is 90% of my tua drawings lol

1. ill wait ill wait (to be the one) by georgiestauffenberg made me ship it cause holy fuck dude. I dont know if i ship them romantically when i saw them onscreen cause first of all, age difference is kinda weird lmao. Second, they dont rlly interact much outside literally the first couple of eps. But he was so soft for her, and i felt like they had so much unexplored history.

so i looked at fanfics cause i was wondering if ppl still ship it, then i liked the description of this one so i gave it a go.

Basically the premise is that vanya dates a much older man who seems to know a lot about her. And it was amazingly in character and just provided their characters some depth that u wouldnt find outside of a romantic relationship between them. (The implication of five pining while she doesnt know who he is, their missed chances when he time travelled, fives missed chances of living and having a 'normal' life bec of his own hubris, vanyas insecurity and being able to open up bec shes with someone whos known her since childhood). Its so sweet and thats how i was like, oh yep i can do so much more with these two, and what has kept me interested in drawing them etc.

2. My favourite things are the shippers cause i made some friends in the fandom who are super cool and supportive! I dont get super involved in fandoms and usually just watch from afar so finding people to talk to and muck around with in this tiny fandom is super cool 😭

Though thats not to say I havent come across some bad apples in this fandom and things that I dont like. I think thats the importance of carving out a place for yourself and ur friends in fandom tho.

Another thing I like about the ship itself, i just like the grumpy person whos soft for one person trope. Its so cute. I like all the little clues in canon on how their relationship as kids is quite warm, which is interesting cause five is basically the star student and he can be quite cold vs vanya who is the black sheep of the family.

I also like how five likes her powers even when she caused the apocalypse he spent the majority of his life in lol. Like its a popular hc that five is just a wife guy and i love that.

I see vanya as the type who has a lot of love to give, and she sometimes has unrealistic expectations of what her partner can give. Betrayal and lies really angers her, but also when her partner cannot meet her expectations of love she gets very upset bec its also an indication of how shes not good enough, or not loveable enough to be able to have this in the relationship (her insecurity means every failing always comes back to her, even if its out of her control).

I feel like five would be a level-headed person enough in the relationship to not be afraid to say 'vanya ur being stupid' (ie. the s2 confrontation lmao). Also, five's personality means she will never have to doubt his actions bec she knows hes the type who will not give u the moment of the day if hes not interested.

Not to mention they also have the whole apocalypse vs. saviour, hero/villain thing. Theres just a lot to explore!

3. I probably have several. But mostly I dont mind five being a dick to vanya bec first, even if the appeal is hes soft to her hes already kind of a dick in canon lmao. Also, vanya isnt a child. Shes grown and she can handle petty af things like five telling her shes not good at cooking lol. I also dont mind it cause I feel like people are getting too afraid to write... conflict for fear or portraying an abusive relationship or smth. Like, chill. Conflict is fine, resolving it is how u get a story. However in saying that, nobody should be obligated to write any way unless you want to! Fanfic is for comfort so if what your doing is making u happy then its good enough!

horrance which i also ship but i love the platonic and romantic relationship equally:

1. I came in tua in general not shipping anything so Im honestly not sure. I do remember someone doing a meta before s2 came out that was basically how ben acted weird when klaus summoned dave in s1 that made me go 👀 Otherwise, tua s2 rlly made me like them cause tua FED horrance shippers. Like..... the fact that klaus didnt want ben to leave him, and ben knows thats why he stayed 😢 or the fact that klaus was all over him for some reason???? Somebody also mentioned gay ben once and I resonate with that deeply. Like i get that jill exists but i resonate with gay ben deeply.

2. I love their bickering, theyre so cute together. I just like ben being angry bec hes self aware that hes got both shit and amazing taste. Shit bec he cant believes he likes Klaus (and also amazing also bec Klaus). I think the idea of them being kind of underdogs, theyre not rlly leader types and dont want to be, helps them bond together even in platonic horrance. They're both down to earth, and even tho they can annoy each other, they also know if they want a space to feel comfortable its with each other. Theyre not pressured by rivalry over leadership, or any sort of competition.

I love the idea that even tho ben is like klaus's ''conscience'', hes also down for chaos and bitchy. I feel like klaus rlly enabled that side of him, its not exactly a good thing but its p funny lol

3. I know some people think their dynamic is unhealthy but i dont care lol

alluther. So id say i dont ship this, mostly due to the fact that im not invested? Just like all tua ships so far I rlly came out not wanting anything but platonic relationships cause I feel tua doesnt do romance very well. With alluther, theyre so cute but im not super invested in either of their chars so they havent stuck for me. I appreciate seeing them and talking about them tho, and I'm def open to exploring them further.

1. I think tua canon romances are just so lackluster 😔 Idk who writes the romances but I was just like 'nice' but afterwards I dont really think about them. I love their dance scene and the message behind it! Otherwise, theyre sweet like most of the tua romances but im not super invested, same with all the non canon ships.

2. I really feel like tua needs to decide on what their relationship is. Like, just say its incest or not and stick with it 👀 Or if you wanna support it or not, just make up ur mind. I think I would've liked it better if I found the characters more interesting. Allison especially I feel like suffers from the fact that tua just doesn't want to make her ''mean''. They want to make her supportive and are less interested in making her flawed (ie. she should've had a conflict with Vanya in s2, but the writers didnt want to write the girls fighting which is stupid imo and not what that conflict is about).

In regards to Alluther, the scene where Allison gets annoyed at Luther for sleeping with someone else felt out of line. Like, how are you marrying other people and moving on but Luther isn't allowed to? But honestly, I don't mind if they actually just acknowledge it and make it a deliberate part of Allison's trait that Allison can expect a certain loyalty automatically from other people (which can tie in to her childhood being a star, and the rumour).

Luther is a big simp for Allison, which is sweet, but at the same time it would be nice to have him explore himself for a bit, and who he is outside of the academy. Then maybe they can rekindle their relationship again as new people and see where they go from there.

3. I don't hate them, but they're ok. I'm not super invested in them, just like all the tua canon romance. But I wouldn't mind making content for them if I were a bit more invested in their characters. I love their dance scene in s1 and I feel like its super a underrated portrayal of what their relationship is meant to be. I know no one talks about it but it's just such a great scene, and I'm pretty sure the choreographer was into interpretive dance? The scene had a lot of meaning that I don't see people dig around with.

Essentially I'm pretty sure the fairy lights are obviously a throwback to their childhood together, spending time outside of Reggie. So the dance scene kind of symbolized that pocket of space they made for each other in their life (even if theyre far away, or with other people, they will always have that space for each other).

The way they danced was more like playfighting than dancing, which means their relationship isn't sensual. It's more ''pure'', and romantic. Its basically two kids rekindling their love as adults. I also think this is a response to the incest, cause in s1 tua klaus literally said that 'thank god Regg is not their real father' right before Allison and Luther meet lmao. So its kinda like saying Allison x Luther isnt supposed to be 'ohh step sibling hot' but two people who experienced the same trauma as kids and finding comfort with each other (and rekindling that love after many years).

honestly since its on my mind here is my rankings of jason ships off the top of my head:

jayt1m, bruj4y, j4ydick,j4ydami, jayt4lia, jaysl4de: theyre bad scoob. inc3st and p3do shit galore; jayt1m woulda been more bearable if tim hadnt been adopted right before jay came back, but still has issues esp re: how jay acted towards tim and tim being a minor while jay is an adult, ableit one very close to his age. tbh i dont trust anyone who likes any of these for obvs reasons. anyways jay has a rly interesting dynamic with all of them except slade tbh and making it romantic ruins it for various reasons, but also bc family is SUCH a driving point for jason!!!!

jaybabs: i am so tired of DC putting babs with every man they can lol. she deserves better. anyways i dont like it, the few interactions we see with babs and jay prior to him coming back have very older babysitter-like energies, she is supposed to be older than dick (who was already 18 when jay was 12!!) and has known him since he was a child its a weird age gap and they rly dont have a lot in common other than a shared trauma over the joker. its not good and does a disservice to what could be a good platonic relationship that could allow them to heal, esp jay.

jayroy: i prefer them as friends. they have such good energy with jay as roys’s friend’s little brother who somehow became his friend but as a romance its kinda dull to me, and im not the biggest fan of their age gap

jaydonna: only ogs will remember when DC tried to push that jay-kyle-donna love triangle on us lol thanks dan didio. honestly its not the worst, i could maybe see it, but donna being around dicks age still makes it a lil weird and the love triangle sucked. donna deserves better, but hey, its better than donnas canon husband tho!

jaysionis: no comment.

jayanita: yes this exists it appears in 1 issue of the young justice comic during the world without young justice storyline. in this jay is about 18 and alive, with something akin to his pre-crisis backstory. hes shown to have been in a relationship with anita, who i believe is around 16-18 and then he dies lol. would be interesting to see them meet in normal canon but anita hasnt appeared since like 2007 and who knows how old she’d be now with the wonky ages. has potential ig but its in a grey area.

jayrose: i feel like they have potential BUT it is ruined by the fact that it only ever seems to exist with them already together and interested in each other, with basically no build up or real chemistry as a result. it feels forced and more like out of a necessity to pair people up. they could have a fun dynamic, esp around damian but it feel like its never done right, and often at rose’s expense

jaykyle: their ages are vague due to varous timeline fuckery in DC but i always assumed they were both roughly college age by the time they interact, with kyle being a lil bit older . has a lot of potentiall imo but they havent interacted much in so long. got that sorta bad boy x tortured artist thing going on i like it.

jayconnor: tbh i would love to see them interact more. i feel like this is the superior jay/archer ship tbh tbh. i think it could rly work esp bouncing off each other with their different personalities but they still have a lot in common. they def should interact more now that connor is back in the comics.

jaysteph: speaking of ppl who need to interact more... DC has fucked with their ages a bit since they want to age up jay but not age up steph, so that is an issue, however originally they were only about a year or two apart (since jay is a few months younger than cassandra cain and steph is older than tim by about a year). they have a lot in common with their backstories and their roles in the batfamily so i think it could b cute! much better jay/batgirl ship than babs tbh... would love to see them just TALK. also funny to imagine jay rubbing it in tims face.

jaytemis: i rly like artemis and can see potential in this one so i really do like it! however scott lobdell is NOT the one who shoulda been telling their story and thus they suffer from his writing heavily imo. has a lot of potential and is def my fave bat x amazon ship.

could you perhaps elaborate on kobra and cherri’s dynamic in twitterverse with regard to their like. soft-ish moments of respect and why they keep coming back? maybe???

ah! i can! (and again i know i get rambly feel free to follow up if any of this isnt clear)

okay yeah so as you (im assuming ur the same person thats sent the other twitterverse asks) mentioned yesterday, so much of twitterverse is about like. reputation and perception. and cherri and kobra are somewhat equal in terms of how theyre treated by the rest of the zones.

theyre both addicts, theyre both known to be lethal, kobra's got a bit more of a sociable reputation from racing and sleeping around but hes still like. not necessarily seen as a person by other joys? i touch on it a bit in. i think chapter two or three? when kobra's smoking with that roller after the race and they go "i cant believe im smoking with the kobra kid" (or whatever they say) like. its a weird celebrity worship. cherri has a bit of a worse time of it because waveheads are SO stigmatized in the zones whereas sweet tooths are like. ehhh theyre partiers that took it too far

so like. theres a lot for them to respect about each other and theres a lot of understanding that can come with being these kind of. highly stigmatized individuals and having a way that people do expect them to act. you arent really gonna have the same expectations from a person thats on the same footing as you. and most of their softest (imo) moments come around when theyre having sex bc theres a lot of intimacy inherent in that Anyway (especially once it happens more than once). im Really going benefit of the doubt that ur an adult but i still wont be too graphic here

so for instance, theres a moment where cherri asks kobra if he Actually likes having sex bc up till then (and after still but i think to a lesser degree) kobra is. really performative about how he fucks. and im not gonna say whether or not kobra having this many hookups is good or bad for him bc it varies, but cherri's pretty good at getting a read on people and it can tell that kobra isnt being 100 percent genuine. and this is like. a big moment for kobra bc its a guy that, really has no reason to actually stop and care abt what kobra wants but it still does. its a moment where kobra gets that cherri isnt going to take advantage of him (an earlier draft also touched on this when they were at the radioshack and cherri established that there was something it wouldnt do with kobra while he was high)

so ig thats like. (apart from the fact that it is really nice sex) why kobra keeps coming back? bc he consciously or unconsciously knows that cherri sees and respects him as a person and doesnt really look up to him OR look down on him. just kinda looks at him

as for cherri, its also a lot of being able to feel like its more or less an equal to kobra. like, im not sure how much it came across and if/when i do a followup ill probably explore this more but newsie and chimp (cherri's two closest relationships other than whatever it and kobra have) are SO much more put together than it is. its the black sheep/wavehead/ultraviolent/bad at talking to people/cant even really get itself around the zones without asking for a ride/fuckup of the family (affectionate). theres not really a sense of inferiority that cherri has from this but it is like. newsie takes care of it in a lot of ways and sometimes you're jsut tired of that! kobra isnt gentle with cherri, he treats it like an equal and like someone thats dangerous and capable and desirable and (going back to how stigmatized waveheads are) he treats it like its a person. (i dropped an essay abt cherri and personhood in regards to gender a LONG time ago like before i even started publishing SOA that kinda ties in)

i also hope im not spoiling things for u bc idk how far youve read but i really tried to make sure i never had kobra and cherri insult each other based on obvious insecurities. once cherri clues in to how much kobras reputation as a 'slut' bugs him it never throws that at him, neither of them really throw the waveriding and sugar at each other to try and rile one another up. like yeah, they'd probably be justified and it wouldnt be punching down bc they are, more or less, equals, but i think both of them would feel a) shitty and b) hypocritical for using shit like that as an insult

so um. to sum up its on a shallow level bc they can have really good sex with each other and on a deeper level its the kind of understanding that comes with being outcasts in different but still deeply similar ways.

more jinjetsongko headcanons because i’m still quarantining so what the heck else am i gonna do.

shout out to @azenkii for coming up with this and supporting my nonsense. also considering calling them the ba sing se bimbos, please share your thoughts.

so like. it’s pretty clear song can handle herself, and even as they’re getting rid of the body, jet is telling her about their group and what they’re doing. song’s in shock, because murder’s not something she’s ever done (but something her mother has always prepared her to do), and so she just is kinda like “yeah, okay, i’ll join, whatever, but does the smell of death ever leave your nostrils or does it stay there forever?”

“it fades,” he tells her happily, slinging an arm around her shoulders, “but don’t worry - you’ll get used to it.”

zuko wants to punch jet in his stupid handsome face because they can’t have the girl he STOLE FROM in their stupid gang but he can’t TELL ANYONE so he’s just bitter about it until song reassures him that it’s okay, he’s forgiven.

despite her capacity for violence, song does not Vibe With It, so she ends up acting as a lookout most of the time. there are other drugs, ones that just put people to sleep for a while instead of killing them, and she tends to use those on any suspicious parties.

if she’s ever in a serious bind, though, she carries a set of needles hidden up her sleeve. just because she’s the least Down with Murder doesn’t mean she isn’t down with it at all. she’s not a freaking narc.

jin previously was Not Down with Murder but when you hide a dead body you have to very quickly Get Down with Murder or Get Gone, so she gets down with it. everything else about her friends (arsonist, terrorist, deadly apothecary) quickly becomes categorized as extremely normal because otherwise her brain would explode.

best asset is her knowledge of the city, and the fact that she can get information from anyone, anywhere. she’s got more street smarts than any of the “country bumpkins” as she affectionately calls her friends, and she puts this skill to good use.

she wants to be able to fight, too, and since both zuko and jet wield dual weapons, that’s how she learns.

(plus, the idea of all four of them being dual-weapons wielders is cool and fun so i’m running with it)

she steals away into the small trunk of family heirlooms that sits hidden beneath a floorboard in her building, and procures two sickles her father used during his time on the farm. interestingly, theyre about the same size and weight as the kyoshi warriors’ fans. if jin were to ever find herself amongst the kyoshi warriors, she’d probably fit in. just a thought.

jin, like jet, is unrefined and fights dirty, but it works and gets the job done. zuko fights with honor and fury. song is light on her feet, and her goal is mainly to get the fight over with. all in all, they make a good team.

obviously, iroh and song’s mother adopt them all. jin is the natural favorite, being genuinely likable and funny, and also the most normal. iroh is also still hoping she’ll marry zuko one day, and song’s mother basically sees any teen girls she meets as someone to be Cherished and Protected anyway.

jet is definitely the least favorite but is also Begrudgingly Beloved by the adults. both iroh and song’s mother are too smart to fall for his slick words, but they find his efforts to be charming endearing. plus, they both know boy soldiers when they see them, and it’s hard for them not to want to be a parent to a kid who’s been through so much.

song and her mother love teasing zuko and iroh for their past encounter. song’s usually the one teasing iroh, and he takes it in stride, always offering her free tea and treats and dramatically begging her forgiveness in a way that absolutely makes zuko sweat bullets. song’s mother is the one who teases zuko, but he’s so awkward and weird about it she just ends up feeling bad and giving him an extra serving of dinner, which jin and jet loudly protest.

all three teens have a different version of a backstory for zuko and iroh. they’ve all shared their lives with each other, except for zuko, and no matter how much they pester iroh he insists it’s not his story to tell.

jin works the circus angle for a loooong time, knowing full well he was full of shit when he said he was in the circus, but hoping to make zuko perform increasingly ridiculous stunts so as to vindicate himself. he draws the line at the tightrope, and gets weirdly quiet about it, so she drops it.

jet thinks zuko was in the war, which is how he got his scar. he assumes zuko and iroh are so poor because they didn’t get any sort of compensation for their part in defending the earth kingdom, which is just what he would expect from their “government”, or as jet calls it, The Man.

song assumes zuko got his scar the same way she did, when the fire nation invaded his and iroh’s village and probably took his father away, too. she also assumes this is what’s hardened him to the world, and is glad he seems to be loosening up a bit around his friends.

jin is the closest, believing zuko and iroh to be deserters of the fire nation, but she guesses they’re from the colonies. she also definitely thinks iroh’s earth kingdom (you can’t live in ba sing se and love it THAT MUCH without having a little earth kingdom blood in you. no way no how). she assumes that zuko got his scar for his treachery, that he left the fire nation because he believed it was Evil. secretly, she believes he’s incredibly brave.

after the war, zuko casually mentions that he got his scar from his father.

“your what now?” jin asks in disbelief. my father, zuko tells her. he recounts the war meeting, the agni kai, all of it.

“and your father, the ex-firelord, he did this?” song asks, deadly calm, messing with a few vials of something Very Dangerous and Very Painful.

“the ex-firelord as in the ex-firelord locked up in the capital prison, that guy did that to you?” jet asks, just as calm, sharpening his hooks. zuko says yes, not sure why they’re being so weird.

“we’ll be back later,” jin tells him. “we have to go do something totally unrelated.”

it takes zuko way too long for the penny to drop because by the time he catches up to them they’ve knocked out half the prison guards and are screaming about vengeance.

(secretly, he’s touched, but he wishes he’d learned his lesson because he goes through the same thing with sokka and katara about a month later).

I won't say who for the sake of privacy, but recently I saw a user who had a post on how people that shipped Swagger Bishie (aka Dash/Danny) were "condoning abuse" and "severely downplaying the very real trauma that stems from being bullied as a adolescent for the sake of 'hawt yaoiz'". Any thoughts on the matter?

i mean sure thats a valid take and im not gonna like. say its wrong technically. like yeah alright

but also like..,,, theyre basically middle schoolers. kids are just assholes

IF YOU WANT MY LONG ESSAY: While shipping danny/dash purely in the context of what canon’s given is, no doubt, implying abuse- as their entire relationship hinges on the mutual bullying (dash bullying danny publicly, danny bullying dash as Phantom) of one another- fanon/headcanons way outweigh “canon” for a franchise as old and as interpreted as DP. Many people who ship danny/dash adhere to similar principles:

-That Dash was going to be given (or at least deserved) a redemption arc, as hinted by various behaviors (danny’s reveal in Reality Trip, the back-to-back fight scene in Pirate Radio, just the entire premise of Micro Management)

-that Dash is in an abusive home situation and/or is covering for his homosexuality with toxic masculinity (we never see his parents, the only home life hint we get is that he can throw massive parties with no adult supervision (Attack of the Killer Garage Sale), and the “gay bully” is a stereotype fanon often clings to)

-That Dash only knows how to show affection via “bullying,” ie that he thinks aggression is the best way to show interest in someone (see the “he’s only doing that because he likes you” trope/stereotype)

Obviously these characteristics on their own don’t absolve Dash of any actual abusive behavior. But it’s also important to mention that the assumption of abuse is that players are on unequal footing, and while pre-canon it could be assumed that Danny was at a massive disadvantage, we see firsthand that Danny is just as capable of fighting back as Dash is.

Splitting Images is an episode built around the concept that Danny bullies Dash right back, and while it was poorly written, the point it was making still stands. Danny “abuses” Dash in much more horrific ways than Dash could ever abuse Danny, frequently overshadowing him to undermine his body autonomy and embarrassing him publicly with no way to absolve the situation (I forget the episode title but like, the first time Danny possesses someone (Parental Bonding?) it’s Dash and he without missing a BEAT uses this opportunity to humiliate Dash by telling Paulina he keeps his mom’s toenail clippings or something).

So while yeah, you can say Dash abuses Danny, you can also say that Danny abuses Dash, and that’s just as fucked up. But it also means there’s not an inherently toxic power imbalance; real life abusive relationships are abusive because one party feels as though they can’t fight back, held back by physical power, social norms, empathy, or some combination of the three. Yeah it’s still fucked that they beat the shit out of each other, and they’ve both probably got trauma, but it’s not like Danny’s trauma specifically is being romanticized.

In fact most of the danny/dash shipping I’m aware of (or at least do) is centered around Danny being able *to* fight back, and Dash *earning* his redemption arc, taking these otherwise “incomplete” pieces of canon and fleshing them out.

It’s also really important to note that Dash looks up to Phantom, even if he hates Danny- to the point where his respect for Phantom outweighs his hatred of Danny. Back to Reality Trip, when Danny gets revealed onstage, Dash’s immediate response is to round up the popular kids and come to his aid- he has no second thoughts about Phantom actually being Fenton. This, alongside fanon interpretations of Dash’s actions, suggests that Dash’s “hatred” of Fenton is based on some want to conform to the Alpha Male stereotype-- which, while bad, doesn’t mean he’s intentionally abusive. Fenton is weird, his family is weird, all the cool people hate them, so, to be cool, Dash *has* to hate Fenton. That’s science.

At the end of the day, it’s more than obvious Dash is a victim of toxic masculinity (he genuinely enjoys the romance channel and stuffed animals, for example, but these are played as “jokes” in universe; bitch fartman influence aside, it’s not a leap to conclude that he keeps his softer side “hidden” so he doesn’t come off as less of a man). His bullying of Danny isn’t specifically directed as a form of abuse, and outside of some specific school settings, he has no actual power over Danny. Danny also is more than wiling to fight back, using his own ghostly powers against Dash, putting them at a nemesis-level instead of an abuser-and-abused one.

Listen, I’m gonna be real, almost all of us were “bullied as an adolescent.” Bullying fucken sucks, but like, Dash is clearly meant to be an over-the-top caricature of a bully; no real person acts the way he does, and the audience is meant to (and does!) interpret his actions as a *signifier* of his Bully status more than literal and exact depictions. After all, we don’t see Danny anything other than mad over these things, like they’re mild inconveniences; he’s not actively traumatized or overly introspective about this one asshole in high school.

Not to mention, Dash and Danny are like, fourteen years old. I don’t know about you, but I was like, the worst version of myself when I was fourteen; I was edgy and made awful jokes and made a big show of liking violence. Fourteen year olds just, inherently, suck (no offense to any 14 year olds reading this, I’m sure you’re fine). Dash has more than the opportunity to *grow out of it.*
