Have y’all ever died from radiation?
"Just Abbi so far, unfortunately. While Abena wasn't among the original Radium Girls, she had her hands on some of that luminescent paint thinking it was harmless."
"We couldn't get to the root of why I kept getting ill and dying no matter how much I used it until the scientific truth was out! How was I to know it was harmful?! And I used it recreationally as fingernail polish and makeup! Imagine the actual poor factory workers who had to work with the paint as a livelihood!"
#all the photos I found on the Radium Girls were white women tho#so idk if Jim Crow was in place hard and black women couldn't get work there and thus had to use radioactive materials in the factories#so Abbi didn't get work there (thankfully)#death tw#[Captain Josep Frascona]#[Abena Frascona]#[Modern AU]

Redbull gives you orgasms - Mike Schmidt x reader
Moving in with your boyfriend was a no-brainer. Abby loved you, Mike loved you, and well it was easier to split the rent two ways. The only problem was with the sleep schedule. Your partner was an absolute early bird. Even with his sleep experiments, he still managed to wake up at 6 AM sharp to get his sister ready. And 99.9 of those days you'd murmur a ''Goodbye Mike, love you'' into the pillow and fall asleep. If it wasn't for your job, you would be a total night owl. There were instances where you'd wake up at 3 just to jolt down a good idea you had. Thankfully, once Mike was asleep, there was no waking him. Him falling asleep was a completely different matter. And you were gonna find that out soon through the magic of ... public holidays.
That's right public holidays. You were gonna take a break, finally, and spend some quality time with Abby, maybe even get to help Mike find some better job options. But before that, you had to work extra hard and prepare posts for the time you'd be gone. You were stressed, and overloaded on free coffee and sugary snacks. By the end of the day, all was good. You handed over some tasks to your more senior colleagues and headed home. Grabbing groceries on the way, you were even given a sample of a new redbull flavor. You grabbed a few of those for your boyfriend and were finally ready to relax.
But Mike had other plans. He looked dejected, so you figured that the meeting with Jane didn't go well. "I'll take the night shift job tomorrow."
"If you're sure. Well, let's have an early dinner then.". After you all ate and the two of you made sure Abby was in bed, it was finally time to sleep as well. You had a bit of chit chat with Mike, nothing too heavy. He was just about to drift off, putting you through the usual routine when he noticed how restless you were. You were tossing and turning, bouncing your leg under the covers. Then came the pillow adjusting, cover moving. Afterwards you went to the bathroom. Then grabbed water. Then the bathroom again.
"Sweetheart, please. " Mike said, his voice groggy. "Did I wake you, shit. I'm sorry, thought you already dozed off." you replied.
"I can go on the couch?" You suggested.
"No, just come here. I'm so used to you that I can't fall asleep without you here anyway. Your work trips fuck me up." he replied. "I'll fix you right up, I'm a sleep expert after all."
You laid down and let him "fix you". First he moved you to the side, then he wrapped his arms around your waist. Then he began to kiss your neck.
"Mike." you moaned.
"Shhh. I need you to not turn off your brain. Just focus on what I'm doing to you and think only about that. Can you do that for me, sweetheart?"You just nodded. He continued kissing you, but now he was also touching your chest. Squeezing your breasts, gently pulling on your nipples. You were getting wet and he knew it. He slipped his hand in your panties, and started rubbing on your clit.
"You're so needy for me. Can't wait to see you let go for me.". You moved your hips to bring him closer to you. But instead of giving in, he slipped a finger in you, then a second.
"Feels so good, so so good.". You felt him get hard against your ass. You reached out a hand to help him out, but he gently moved it away.
"Shh, I have it all planned out. But since you wanna spoil your surprise." His fingers were still inside you. He first undid the buttons on his boxers, letting his cock spring free. Then he moved your panties to the side and removed his fingers. You whined at the loss of contact. But then gasped when you felt his dick in-between your thigs, rubbing against your wet folds. Not only that, but his fingers were back on your clit. You were done for.
"I know you wanna cum for me, but can you hold it for just a little bit. I want us to do it together. Don't worry, I won't last long with your perfect pussy all wet for me like this."
"Please, just a bit more, just the tip. Need you inside me again."
"You know I can't say no to you, sweetheart.". With that Mike slid the head of his cock inside of you. He buried himself to the hilt inside of you, allowing himself 2 thrusts. Reluctantly he pulled away continued humping you.
"Come on sweetheart, let's cum together." You didn't need a second to think about it. Using your last functional braincell, you "aimed" Mike's cock, so he came on your stomach. When you were a bit more coherent, you gathered the cum and licked it away. There was no way you were gonna leave that on the sheets. You turned to kiss Mike, but saw he was fast asleep. Guess reading that sleep book did have its benefits.

A Nice Dinner
Word Count: 2.4k
Summary: your niece Fiona is in town and asks to go to dinner with you, Abby, and your daughter Hailey, you agree of course. You wait for Abby, your wife, to return home from work before you head out. Dinner doesn't go super well but after some reassurance from Abby you feel better.
Cw: meltdown, stress, crying, teensiest fight between reader and Abby
A/n: ok so this won the poll i posted yesterday so here yall go!! Don't even worry bc I will still be posting Our Little Secret pt. 2, I just need to finish writing it lmao. Also PLEASE lmk if you guys like this type of wife/mama Abby bc I'd definitely write more of it if u do! And feel free to leave requests as well:)))
Your cheeks hurt from smiling so much. You were sat at the kitchen table with your daughter Hailey, she was in her highchair smiling from ear to ear as you fed her. Sure she could eat her own food seeing as she was three years old, but she was just so cute when she let you do it. It was her last bite as your phone began to rang.
You gave her a loving pat on the head before going to place the bowl and spoon into the sink then pick up the phone.
"Hi." You greeted.
"Hey! So you know how we're staying at thst place this week? Well it's only like a half hour drive from where you guys are." Your niece Fiona answered.
"Oh really? That's awesome! We're yall thinking of coming down here?" You asked, Fiona and her parents were on vacation this week.
"Well actually my parents were going on a date for their anniversary and I was wondering if I could come and maybe we could all go to dinner? I'd love to see Hailey!" She exclaimed.
Fiona had always adored Hailey, she even babysat a few times when needed. Well that was back when you lived nearby. Either way, of course you wanted to go out to dinner with her.
"That'd be just great Fiona. I'm sure Hailey would love to see you too, so will Abby and I." Abby was your wife, who was currently at work.
You and Fiona worked out the rest of the details as you texted Abby about the plans. She was on board and seemed pretty excited as well. You'd offered to pick Fona up but she said she would be fine since she had her own car. Once you got off the phone you took Hailey from her high chair and brought her into the living room. You sat and watched her favorite cartoons while you waited for Abby to get home.
♡♡♡
After pretty much doing nothing but watching cartoons and snuggling Hailey, you deemed it was time to get ready. Abby would be home in just under an hour and Hailey was still in her pajamas, as were you. So you'd taken her upstairs to her room first, so she could pick something to wear.
You were pleasantly surprised when she chose something that actually matched. A pair of jean shorts with her favorite t-shirt which was green with a dinosaur on the front. After a quick diaper change you got her dressed then told her to go in the playroom while you got ready. She ran to play with her dollhouse and you went into you and Abbys shared bedroom.
It's not like you were going anywhere super fancy, so you chose something simple. A pair of biker shorts and an older band tee that used to belong to your older brother. Which you found fitting since Fiona was his daughter. You brushed out your hair then put it up in a ponytail, making sure to take out some wispies on either side of your face.
Now that you were all read you went to see what Hailey was up to in the playroom. Thankfully she hadn't made a huge mess, there were just a few barbies lying around which didn't bother you. You motioned for her to come follow you downstairs where you would wait for Abby to arrive home.
A little while later and she was walking through the front door, still in scrubs and her bag thrown over her shoulder. Hailey ran to greet Abby immediately, wrapping her arms around her leg as she shouted out 'mama' in the most adorable way. Abby chuckled, patting her head then smiling st you as you came to give her a hug.
"How was work?" You asked as you pulled away, Abby kept a hand on your waist.
"Fine, gotta go change. When's Fiona getting here?" Abby asked as she gently removed Hailey from her leg and started walking upstairs.
"Oh probably like a half hour or so." You answered, leaving her to get ready alone.
You'd come to learn that Abby enjoyed some alone time when she got home from work. Even if it was just five minutes, she needed to be by herself for a little. So when Hailey tried to run after her, you picked her up and went to continue cartoons instead.
Abby was coming back downstairs in no time, now dressed in a comfortable pair of grey sweats and a black hoodie. She came to join you and Hailey on the couch, holding an arm around you as she pulled you into her side and Hailey laid across both of your laps. A smile formed on Abbys lips as she brushed her hair back out of her face.
It wasn't long before there was a knock at the door, you left Hailey to lay in Abbys arms as you went to answer it. As you opened the door you noticed your niece had gotten taller, and with a smile you pulled her in for a quick hug before closing the door. Immediately she made her way to sit beside Abby on the couch and scoop Hailey up into her arms.
"Hi Fiona." Abby greeted with a chuckle at her affection for Hailey.
"Hey!" Fiona replied.
You smiled as Abby made her way over to where you stood in the living room, pressing her chest against your back as she wrapped her arms around your waist. Fiona was so involved in Hailey she hadn't even noticed as you wo shared a quick kiss. You let your hands come to rest on Abbys before speaking.
"Well we can probably all fit in Abbys truck, we're ready whenever you are Fi." You shrugged, only now did Fiona look your way.
"Oh yeah, let's go." She smiled, carrying Hailey out to the car as she played with her hair.
Since you trusted her enough, you and Abby let Fiona get Hailey buckled up before you drove to dinner. Abby let you drive, which was rare and usually meant she had to just be exhausted. You understood though, work usually had her pretty beat by the end of the day.
The car was silent for the first minute or so, but it soon filled with the light hum of the radio. Then also the conversing between you, Abby, and Fiona. The occasional babble from Hailey would make its way in there as well. You guys didn't chat about much, just caught up really.
You arrived at the restaurant and exited the car. Abby got Hailey from her carseat, letting her walk on her tiny sandal-clad feet up to the door. Then once she entered she brought her up into her arms, knowing she'd try and run off and probably get herself into some trouble.
"Hi, three and a high chair please." Abby greeted the hostess.
You admired the way she would always lead when you went out, take control. It was nice to know you had someone to take care of you like that. The hostess grabbed three regular menus and one kids then took you back to your table. It was in a more secluded corner of the restaurant, which wad nice.
You and Abby sat beside each other one one side and Fiona sat across from you two. Your waitress came over in no time to ask what you wanted to drink. You ordered your usual favorite soda, and Abby looked at you for approval before getting a strawberry daiquiri. She didn't drink often, but every once in a while didn't hurt anyone. You nodded and waited as Fiona got a pink lemonade.
After a few minutes she brought your drinks out and said she'd be back in a few to take your orders. You'd already opened your menu, and were still looking. Fiona seemed to be set on what she'd be getting since she was more focused on helping Hailey draw on her kids menu.
"Anything look good?" You asked Abby, bumping your shoulder into her own lightly.
"Uh I kinda wanted to try this but I definitely couldn't finish it by myself." She pointed out the item on the menu she was speaking about, taking a sip of her drink.
"That's definitely looks good, we could just share it if you want." You offered and she nodded.
"Hailey? What do you want honey?" You asked before reading off her options.
She'd choose the third item you listed and you'd nod, giving her the menu back so she could continue to draw with Fionas help. You brought an arm around Abbys shoulders, leaning into her lightly.
"So, Fiona, you know I have to ask. Do you have a boyfriend?" You asked your niece and she blushed a deep red.
"Uh, actually no." She answered with a giggle.
"Oh? Really." Your voice picked up an octave, her physical response differing drastically from her verbal response.
"Well actually I have a girlfriend.." She smiled as her voice got lower.
"What! No way!" Abby exclaimed, unfortunately a bit too loud.
Hailey had a reaction to this of course, she hated when people were loud. Immediately she burst into tears and started to thrust around in her high chair. You sighed, removing your arm from around Abby and now pulling Hailey from her chair to sit on your lap. You bounced her lightly on your keg as you shushed her, rubbing at her arms soothingly.
"Ah- sorry. I'm sorry." Abby apologized, she just felt terrible.
"Hey, it's fine. She'll calm down in a minute." You reassured, but there was a harshness in your tone anyways because you were just frustrated.
Instead of wasting more time with another sorry, Abby instead asked Fiona all about her girlfriend. She was very excited to tell Abby all about her, and you listened too of course. She sounded very sweet and Fiona was certainly happy.
Haileys cries had stopped by now and she sat peacefully in your lap, sucking at her thumb. Your waitress came back now to take your orders, you looked to Abby and let her order for you two while you'd order for Hailey. Fiona collected your three menus and handed them off with a smile and a thank you.
You picked up your soda to take a sip when a waiter was just making his way past your table. Due to the close proximity of his table to yours, he bumped into your elbow and caused you to spill all over your shirt. And Hailey broke out in tears once again. You sighed and let out a groan of frustration, slamming your glass back down on the table.
Hailey began to thrash around in your arms, which had you looking to Abby with tears brimming your eyes. A look that merely said you were tired and needed some help.
"Here, I've got her. Go ahead and wash up in the bathroom." She took Hailey in her arms, shushing her then making silly faces so she'd giggle instead of cry.
You paid them no attention as you were already on your way to the bathroom. Once you got in there you couldn't help it as your tears spilled over. You tried to wipe them away, but there was a consistent stream. Thankfully it was one of those bathrooms where it was just made for one person, and you wasted no time in locking the door.
A small huff fell past your lips as you brought a wet paper towel to try and rid your shirt of the soda which was probably making it sticky. It was stained of course because that was just your luck. If things couldn't get any worse there was a knock at the door.
"What!" Your voice was angry.
"Hey, it's me. Come on open up." Abby spoke softly.
You sighed as you unlocked the door and let her in. Your tears continued to fall as you stood there embarrassed, the wet paper towel smooshed in your hand at your side. Abby tilted her head with a frown, bringing her hands to your shoulders.
"Baby. It's ok." She tried to reassure.
"But it's really not!" You shouted, you didn't want to yell at her but you were just so overwhelmed, "i-I just wanted to have a nice dinner! And now my shirts ruined, Hailey's already had two meltdowns tonight!" You struggled to speak through your sobs but you managed.
"Y/n, Hailey is fine. Besides can you even call those meltdowns? She just cried a bit that's all, and here you can wear my hoodie." Abby removed her hoodie to reveal a beige t shirt underneath.
You let out a small sigh, tossing the paper towel in the trash then removing your shirt before putting the hoodie on. It was too big, but extremely comfortable. And it smelled just like Abby which relaxed you a bit. Your face was still tear stained and red, even if you stopped crying.
Abby looked down at you, opening her arms and waiting as you leaned into her. You buried your face into her chest, wrapping your arms around her lower back as you let out a sigh of relief against her. She uses one hand to rub up and down your back, the other massaging your scalp. Your eyes fell shut for a moment as you felt calm for once that evening.
Abby let you stand there in her embrace for a few moments before separating from you just enough to meet your gaze. You smiled up at her, the way she brought her hands to either side of your face grounding you. She rubbed her thumbs across your cheek, placing a sweet kiss to your forehead before asking if you were ready to go back to the table. You just gave a simple nod and followed her as you walked back to the table hand in hand.
A feeling of adoration filled you as you saw Fiona playing peekaboo with Hailey back at the table. And Hailey, much to your surprise, was sat in her high chair like an angel. She was giggling at Fionas actions, which had a bubbly feeling forming in your stomach.
The rest of the evening went well, and you all enjoyed a wonderful meal together. Later you'd get back home and say your goodbyes to Fiona. Then you'd work on getting Hailey and yourself ready for bed.

Imagine Abby thinking you sacrificed your live to save hers
Abby took slow steps towards the edge of the same cliff she'd watched. You throw yourself over just a few seconds ago followed by at least twenty to thirty runners and clickers. She counted each second after that in her head waiting to catch a glimpse of your hand appearing at the top.
Five went by and still there was no sign you somehow managed to pull off the impossible. Abby didn't believe in God or praying, but she was willing to try anything right now. If it would bring you back to her in one piece. She dropped to her knees just a foot short of the edge taking a fistful of her own jacket. Tears clouded her vision as a guttural scream ripped free from her throat. A cry. A desperate plea to the heavens above for a miracle.
Abby refused to believe you were truly gone. She was never good at being open with her feelings, but it got even worse after the death of her father. After losing him Abby shut down completely leading to her break-up with Owen, and months of isolation from her friends. It took a year for the other wolves to get her to warm up to them after her and Owen joined up with the group.
But you were the one who slipped past her defenses right into her heart. Every single wall Abby built to stop herself from ever falling for someone so hard. To the point where the mere thought of losing them made her to curl up in a ball, and cry. Crumbled in your presence until just the sight of you smiling at her caused a red tint to coat her cheeks.
She had a bad feeling about this particular patrol when Issac gave her the location. He was sending the two of you to search making sure it was still clear of infected. An old rotting building the wolves used as a main outpost at once, until the Seraphites pushed them back. But in the past couple of months the WLF were able to gain some ground in the ongoing war, and this was one of the areas. They had managed to regain control over, and Issac wanted to establish dominance now while he had the chance. The building had way too many entry points Abby could see for a mile away. Instead of deciding to turn back and return with a bigger group. She led you into the infected death trap where the two of you were separated. When the horde descended out of nowhere, and a few moments later out of ammo armed with just her fists. Abby found herself cornered about to be devoured.
You came out of nowhere dropping out of a hole in the ceiling right behind the horde. Without hesitation you drew them in shooting your gun into the air. The shots ranging out drew every single last one of them away from her, and then you tore out of the building still shooting. They followed with growls and rumbling moans.
Abby took down as many as she could, but without a viable weapon there was nothing she could do to help you.
Now you were gone and would never the truth about how she felt about you. You were dead because of her. The image of you being caught in the mob of infected while falling to your death flashed through her mind. Abby fell over resting her forehead on the in the freezing snow as a sob racked through her body. She just hoped you had a quick death, and felt no pain. You deserved better.
So caught up on in grieving your death the usual always on alert wolf didn't pick up. On the sound of a pair of footsteps approaching her in almost frantic run. Nor did she register your voice or your hands gripping both sides of her face. Pulling her upright to face you, and it was then when her blue eyes bored into your own soft ones wide with worry. She realized you were still alive, and the water works got even worse.
"Abby what's wrong? Did one of them bite you? Abby please tell me you're not infected after what I just went through. Abbs talk to me" You pleaded with your best friend. Your hands fell from her face to search the rest of her body looking for any tears in her clothing, and a bite mark. Thankfully you found none, but it still made no sense to you why she was crying so hard.
"Abby hey its okay I'm here" You whispered brushing a few strands of light brown hair out of her face. Leaning forward to press a quick kiss to her forehead as your arms wrapped her shoulders. Abby clung to you as the sobbing began to subside.
Eventually Abby recovered enough to pull away from your embrace. The next thing she did baffled you more than anything. Before you could get to your feet your body was sprawled out in the snow. You looked up at the muscular girl a mixture of confusion and anger dancing in your eyes. She had shoved you onto your back, and it wasn't a playful shove either. Abby meant it with hurtful intent.
"What the hell was that for?" You snapped propping yourself up on your elbows. Abby towered over you her bottom lip quivering.
"You nearly got yourself killed idiot" she shouted.
"Yeah and I saved your damn life in the process. A thank you would be nice." You replied back not holding back your own attitude. This wasn't an argument you intended to lose.
"I never asked you to do that" Abby shot back.
"The alternative would've been watching you die. Would you had rather I'd done that?"
"Yes anytime you have to choose between saving me or yourself. You choose yourself I'm not worth dying for y/n" she yelled jabbing a finger at you. Her rage no longer hidden beneath the surface anymore. It had broke free letting you see she wasn't just upset by your actions, but genuinely angry.
You were on your feet now. "That's bull Abby for some many reasons, but even if I wanted too. I couldn't what kind of partner would that make me?"
" I don't care about any of that y/n. I only care about you okay" She gripped you by your forearms bringing your body to hers. You wouldn't have been able to resisted if you wanted. "You're not just a friend to me okay, you're so much more than that. I-" Abby paused short of finishing what you both knew she was about to say.
But once those words were spoken there was no going back, and Abby wasn't ready for that this whole situation had gotten out of control. More than she ever wanted to and the only thing she could do now to make sure things stayed normal between you and her was walk away.
So that's exactly what she did.
Abby released her hold on your arms letting you step back from her. Both of you were breathing heavily as you regarded her with sympathy and curiosity.
"Just don't do anything dumb like that again okay. You're a one of our best. We can't afford to lose you" Abby murmured. Then she turned around and started walking back towards the outpost.
I can't afford to lose you
She hadn't said it but you heard it along with the underlying tone of softness in her voice. Abby Anderson was in love with you.
You were sure of it now, and she was going to admit to you one way or another.

Safest in your arms pt 1
|| series page || next chapter ||
Pairing: Georgia Miller x Fem!OC
Summary: A blonde woman moved in across the street, little did Samantha know she’d be turning her life upside down.
Warnings: (18+) minors DNI cursing, drug use. age gap relationships (18 and 30) grooming.
Notes: welcome to my new series! i’m really excited to write this:)
being adopted and hispanic in a small town like Wellsbury was rather lonely.
at least that's how Samantha always felt. she had never really felt like she fit in with her siblings or in her family, really. Ellen and Clint had problems getting pregnant early into their marriage, in fact they thought there was no hope so they adopted Samantha as a newborn. then two years later Ellen ended up pregnant. it was a miracle, a happy miracle. Samantha would have siblings and that's all the Baker parents really wanted.
growing up Samantha was alone most of the time, she went a school with mostly white people, only a handful of kids that could relate to Samantha. thankfully that all changed once she started middle school, she had met the twins, Oliver and Nia first during the first day of sixth grade. Samantha was going to sit alone like usual but Oliver saw her and sat at her table no questions asked. Nia followed after her brother and soon they became best friends. Mathew came into their lives only a couple of months later during their gym class. he was considered popular, he even played on the football and basketball team but even then he chose to hang out with the three best friends. it wasn't hard to understand why, they all had one thing in common; being outsiders.
the four became inseparable, even when Oliver joined the football team or when Nia joined cheer or even when they all started high school. it was as if they were a small family. they fought sometimes, like normal friends do but it never escalated into anything serious.
it was freshman year when Natalie and Jade joined their friend group. Oliver had a crush on Natalie so he asked her out and the group accepted her without much thought, Oliver seemed to really like her so they didn't find a reason to give her or him a hard time. they had met Nicole one day when they were at the skate park hanging out, she had approached them speaking to Samantha in particular and from then on she seemed to linger with them more and more to the point in which she just hung out with them everyday.
Oliver and Natalie dated most of their high school years, they broke up briefly during their junior year which wasn't surprising. junior year was known for being the most academically challenging. Oliver had practice along with keeping up with his AP classes and Natalie had an after school job so they didn't have much time to hang out. regardless they made it work and got back together just four months later.
junior year was also the year Max and Marcus started high school. Samantha didn't love it, especially considering Max would ask her for advice literally every second of the day or include herself in the friend group even though she most definitely was not. it didn't last long though, her Abby and Norah soon blended in and left Samantha and her friends alone. thank god.
the six teens were hanging out in Samanthas room the day before the first day of school. Oliver was sitting on the floor with Natalie beside him whilst Nia was on Samanthas beanbag and Jade was on the bed beside the shorter girl. Mathew was on his way and they were all waiting for him to bring the alcohol. initially they planned to smoke but Ellen had said Samantha couldn't go out since she started school the next day. they wouldn't stupid enough to do it inside though, the smell would be too obvious and Samantha did not want her parents image as a perfect child to be ruined.
Natalie giggled as Oliver kissed her neck making Samanthas nose scrunch in disgust, "can you guys please stop" she groaned and threw her body back on the bed. Oliver chuckled with his arm thrown around his girlfriends shoulder whilst the blonde stuck her tongue out at Samantha.
"suck my dick. you're just mad that you're still single" Natalie smirked.
Samantha rolled her eyes, she turned her head to see Jade looking down at her with an amused smile. the shorter girl smiled back and moved her body closer to Jade so she could rest her head on the girls lap. immediately after Jades hands began to softly comb her hair.
"yeah. why are you still single? arent half the girls at school in love with you or something?" Nia asked and narrowed her eyes in confusion.
Samantha scoffed, "please like that matters. Maxine would kill me if i got a girlfriend" she rolled her eyes with a huff.
Nia mimicked her actions, "are you serious? don't you get tired of having to put your life on pause because of her? i mean didn't she pretty much welcome herself into our group and when i asked you to join cheer you said no because 'Maxine thinks cheer is a cliche for mean girls' or whatever" she said holding her hands up in quotes.
Samantha could hear her friends chuckle at Nias words, "it's not like that. i just don't want her to feel left out, okay?" she said feeling a little annoyed by their comments now. sure, Maxine could be a lot but she was her sister and as the older child she felt like she had a responsibility to protect her sisters feelings.
"fine if you say so" Nia said holding her hands up.
it was Jade who spoke next, "what about you Nia? excited for Mathew to come over?" she said wiggling her brows in a suggestive manner earning laughs from the other two girls in the room.
Oliver looked at them confused, "Mathew? why would you be excited about him?"
Samantha glanced at Nia who was looking at her in warning. "it's nothing" she muttered lowly to try and cover for her best friend.
Jade laughed, "yeah nothing at all" she added.
Oliver didn't seem to be buying it as he glanced at each girl still obviously confused by Jades comment. thankfully the door opened to reveal the subject of their conversation with a huge smirk on his lips.
“why wasn't i aware of the smoke show moving across the street?" he said immediately moving across the room and toward the window. he moved the curtain to the side and looked outside.
"what are you talking about?" Samantha asked confused and began to sit up from Jades lap. Nia turned her body toward the window as well to look out of it, her eyes widening.
"holy shit, she's hot"
Samantha didn't waste another second and jumped up from the bed, she almost tripped on her own feet as she shoved Mathew out of the way making the boy groan and hold his stomach.
"shit girl, chill. she's not going anywhere" he joked making Samantha roll her eyes and give him the finger. the raven haired girl could faintly hear her mother yelling at her brother but she didn't much bother listening to whatever it is she was lecturing him on. it was the same story everyday with him.
her eyes roamed the street to try and find the woman Matthew was talking about. she didn't have to search for long as her eyes landed on the blonde woman in a yellow top with jean shorts on. she had a bandana to top it all off and she looked hot as hell.
"close your mouth, you're drooling" Nia said and Samantha didn't have to look at her to know she was smirking.
"fuck you" the short girl responded.
"Samantha, i made cookies!" a loud voice called from downstairs making all the teens jump up and start rushing out of the room.
"move your ass!" she heard Oliver say most likely to Matthew as they shoved one another to get downstairs first.
Samantha was about to turn around and leave when the blonde woman grabbed a box from her trunk and began to walk to her house. she was beautiful, really. her hips swayed naturally and everything about her was screaming Samanthas name. until the blonde stopped abruptly and turned her head, her eyes roamed the house until they landed on the window the young girl was currently looking through. any normal person would've backed away from the window and walked away but Samantha didn't. she felt like she was in a trance. instead she kept her eyes locked on the blonde, intently watching every emotion swirling behind her eyes. it was hard to read her though.
the blondes lips quirked into a small almost missable smile but Samantha caught it. their staring contest lasted just a second longer before the blonde turned back around and continued walking into the home.
a blaring alarm was what woke the short girl up from her deep slumber. a loud groan echoed throughout her room as she hit her hand against the pillow beside her. black hair was sprawled on the pillow underneath her and her face was smudged into the pillow, some strands of hair resting on her face. she was surprised she wasn't woken by her parents instead of the horrid noise coming from her phone. she reached over toward her nightstand where she finally found her phone and slapped it until the noise finally stopped.
it took her a couple of minutes to actually wake up. she wanted to skip school, it was the first day and most teachers just went over the syllabus or made them introduce themselves to the class as if they weren't already seniors. she only had half days, taking all AP classes when she was in her junior year paid off. so enduring three hours of school shouldn't be that bad.
the raven haired girl got out of bed lazily, her feet dragging against the ground as she walked to her dresser to choose an outfit for the day. a pair of light blue jeans and a white tube top. she'd take a sweater with her just in case she gets dress coded. her room was slightly messy from the day before, they all got a little buzzed and ended up watching a movie before it got dark and Ellen told them they needed to get home.
the white duvet on the bed was neatly made and sitting under three pillow. there was a black nightstand on the left side of the room that held a picture of her and her friends during their junior prom. her walls were painted dark gray with LED lights along with posters of movies she liked. she had a dark blue beanbag near the window and across her bed was her dresser with a television on top. she even had a desk pressed against the left side of her room among that there was small tokens of her, like the plant on her desk, the pictures of her and the people she loved, even the mini figures of characters from her favorite movies.
once she was completely dressed with her hair curled and makeup ready she went downstairs and was met with Max and Marcus arguing about who knows what. it was like that almost every morning and at a certain point Samantha just learned to not care.
"good morning" Ellen said with a smile.
"good morning" Samantha signed with a slight smile.
"want me to make you chocolate chip pancakes?" she asked as she held up the spatula in her hand.
Samantha shook her head, "kinda in a rush. i have to pick up Jade" she said as she grabbed piece of pancake already cut up form Marcus's plate and ate it.
he looked at her with a bored expression to which she winked, "what? i'll consider that my pay for driving you around all summer" she said with a shrug.
he gave her an annoyed smile and looked back down at his food, "can we stop by blue farm on the way?" Max asked her sister.
"nope"
"what?! why not?"
"because i am not paying for your caffeine, i don't need you freaking out because i'm going five over the speed limit again" she said.
Marcus chuckled making Max groan in annoyance.
"mom, tell Samantha to take me to blue farm"
Ellen shook her head, "her car, her rules" she shrugged.
Maxine huffed in annoyance once more and Samantha shot her a cocky smile. once she drank all of her orange juice and ate half of Marcus's food, she grabbed her backpack and kissed her fathers cheek in goodbye. "let's go chums" she said as she walked toward her mom to give her a kiss goodbye as well. Ellen smiled in appreciation and watched as her daughter walked to the front door with marching steps.
she had always been the more responsible out of the three. being mexican meant she didn't get a lot of the opportunities that her siblings could have, that meant she had to get a job at blue farm since she was a freshman, had to take the most advanced classes and even join a lot of extracurricular activities. she even bought her car with her own money - although her parents pitched in for the down payment she had to pay every single bill from that day on.
the girl got inside her white Camry with her siblings behind her, as Marcus was about to get in the passenger side she clicked her tongue with a shake of her head. "nope, you know the rules. in the back, i don't need your sister ripping Jades head off" it wasn't much of a surprise that Jade and Max didn't get along, they were slightly alike yet completely different. Max thought Jade was a bitch and Jade thought Max was too loud and possessive over Samantha which meant Samantha did everything possible to keep them as far away from each other as possible.
"cant i just get in the back once we pick her up?" Marcus asked slightly annoyed.
Samantha sighed, "fine. whatever. just get in" she said waving him inside. he smiled in triumph and got inside the car like she had said. "seatbelts" she turned to look at each of them to make sure they were buckled in before finally backing out of the driveway.
the ride to school from Jades house was a little awkward, Max kept talking about how she was crush sophomore year and interrupting Samantha and Jades conversation every other second.
the shorter girl shot Jade an apologetic smile but she just waved her off, she already knew how Max was and after four years she was used to it. once they pulled into the parking lot Samantha got out with her backpack slung over one shoulder.
"later losers" she said to her siblings as she walked alongside Jade.
"i know you're gonna hate me but your sister is a bitch" Jade muttered with an eye roll.
Samantha laughed, "yeah she is and you know you're the only person i'll let say anything about her"
Jade smirked, "cause i'm your favorite?" she asked and fluttered her eyelashes flirtatiously.
the shorter girl shook her head, "whatever" she muttered shoving her softly. Jade laughed loudly as they approached the other three teens who were sitting at their usual spot. "sup losers" she saluted them as she sat down on Nias lap who was sitting on the couch. the curly haired girl wrapped her arms around her best friend and placed her chin on her shoulder.
"how was it?" Natalie asked Jade who shrugged.
"like always, didn't let me get a word out" she said making everyone chuckle.
they soon fell into a conversation that didn't last long considering they all had to get to class.
"i have calc and AP Lit after" Samantha announced as she stood from Nias lap.
"fuck, isn't it exhausting being little miss perfect?" Matthew asked with an amused smile.
Samantha looked at him with a neutral expression, "isn't it exhausting acting like a slutty jock?"
he laughed holding his hands up, "damn. you're breaking my heart here, Sammy" he joked making her roll her eyes.
"yeah, yeah. save the dramatics for Lauren. where is she anyway?"
"we broke up" he shrugged.
everyone stopped walking and turned to look at the boy in slight surprise, "seriously?" Jade asked.
"yeah" Matthew shrugged once more with his hands in his front jean pockets, "she was bitching about how i don't have enough time for her so i figured it's better to call it quits now. she was only supposed to keep me company for the summer anyway" he said with a smirk.
Samantha groaned, "oh my god, you are such a fuck boy it physically hurts to be around you"
"what? my parents are divorced and i went through emotional trauma and-"
"oh my god, shut up!" Jade exclaimed quickly earning laughs from everyone including Matthew.
"you know i'm fucking with you guys"
"yeah super solid joke, it isn't five years reused or anything" Natalie shot back making Oliver laugh.
"god i love you" he admitted and pulled her in closer as he had his arm wrapped around her shoulder.
Jade made a gagging noise, "please leave and never come back"
"gladly" Oliver said happily. he dragged his girlfriend with him into his next class.
"relationships are gross" Samantha grimaced.
"please, i live with him and they don't know what being fucking quiet is so if anyone has a right to complain here it's me" Nia said with a grimace.
Samantha and Jade laugh at her whilst Matthew slings his arm over her shoulder, "don't worry, i can keep you company" he said shooting her a wink.
anyone else would've missed the look on Nias face but Samantha didn't, the girl had a slight blush coating her cheeks and her step faltered for just a second before she continued like normal. soon after she shoved the boy off of her, "please, you would be my last option. after like - Marcus"
"absolutely not!"
three hours later Samantha and the five teens were sitting at a table in blue farm. Samantha and Nia were the only ones with half days but the rest decided to just skip the rest of the day, it's not like there was anything important anyway.
everything was going great, they were all talking like usual when a certain blonde walked in and everyone went quiet. in fact they didn't do much talking after that but Natalie commented on how obvious they were being so they tried to act as if they were making conversation. they all glanced at the blondes table as she talked to Paul and even after he left.
"i swear you guys are staring like some kind of stalkers" Natalie said in a hushed tone leaning toward the middle of the table.
"she's hot" Matthew shrugged.
Samantha was trying to be more discreet. she sipped on her coffee and listened to Matthew and Natalie argue back and forth.
the young girl was glancing at the blonde from the corner of her eye every couple of seconds, that's when she noticed the blonde woman stand from her table and approach them.
Samantha tried hush them but they weren't listening, up until the woman was standing at their table. "hello" she said a very strong country accent dripping in her voice that made the young girl feel queasy.
she had on a pink dress that highlighted all her curves and pushed her breasts up. her hair was down and she was holding a bag in one hand. Samantha's mind went blank at the sight.
"uh hey" Jade said with a slight wave.
the woman looked around the table until her eyes landed on Samantha, "i moved in just across the street from you" she said directing her words at Samantha.
the young girl gulped before nodding, "yeah." she said dumbly. she was never really the type to be left speechless, in fact it was always the other way around but somehow with this unnamed woman she couldn't come up with a single coherent thought.
"Georgia Miller" she smiled with her perfect teeth and held her hand out. they all glanced at each other then looked at Samantha in anticipation.
the girl smiled, "Samantha Baker but i assume you already know that" she chuckled softly as she shook Georgia's hand.
"your mom is so kind, she brought cookies over" she said happily.
"oh, her cookies are to die for" Oliver said making everyone look at him including Georgia. he didn't seem to care that he said his thought out loud.
"i can second that" Georgia said, "not to be.. that adult but shouldn't you guys be at school?" she asked looking around the table again.
"i have half days" Samantha said quickly, cursing at herself silently for answering so quickly.
"me too" Nia responded.
"and we're just getting lunch, we'll be back once we're done. right guys?" Jade asked looking at her friends with a slightly tightened jaw. they all nodded quickly.
"yeah, yeah. of course. we're very responsible" Oliver said with a charming smile.
Georgia seemed amused by all of them as she nodded, "okay well i'll be leaving you guys to it" she said, "have a nice rest of your day" she finished glancing at them all once more. and yet again her eyes landed on Samantha for just a second longer. soon after the blonde put on her sunglasses and walked out of the restaurant with a slight sway of her hips.
"holy shit" Matthew said practically reading Samanthas thoughts.
"she's hot as hell" Nia said breathily.
"how is it you check out girls more than your brother does?" Jade asked.
Nia shrugged with a smirk, "i actually have good taste" she said looking at Natalie who rolled her eyes and lifted her middle finger at her.
"fuck off"
"my eyes are simply captivated by this beauty right here" Oliver shrugged and pecked his girlfriends cheek.
"gross" Samantha said with a slight smile.
if only either of them noticed the look of longing in the girls eyes.
after blue farm they all went to the store to buy snacks and then parked outside of an abandoned building to smoke. Samantha opted out of it for the time being, she had to go home and confront her mom and she had already seen the way she reacted with Marcus and did not need that kind of weight on her. once school was officially released she said her goodbyes - much to everyone's disappointment who still wanted to hang out but she had to pick up Marcus from school. Max was already home, she had texted her saying she skipped after lunch.
much to Samantha's surprise they all decided to just hang out at her house. everyone was there except for Oliver who had practice and Natalie. the two worked at blue farm but Samantha wasn't scheduled in for the day. they usually had the same schedule but Joe thought they distracted each other too much so he made sure their work times didn't align all that often. unfortunately.
they were all outside, Samantha didn't feel like spending another day cooped up in her room so she decided to just stay outside instead. she was on the hood of her car with Jade beside her whilst the other two were standing to the side.
"there's gonna be a party Friday" Matthew said once he blew out the smoke out of his mouth. Ellen didn't have much of a problem that her daughter vaped, of course she didn't love it but she was eighteen and she couldn't really control that part. although Samantha always made sure to never do it in front of her or make it obvious that she was doing it.
"already?" Samantha asked confused.
"what do you mean?" Matthew chuckled, "it's the back to school party, Tyler is hosting" he says referring to one of the guys on the football team.
"hell fucking yeah, he always has the best parties" Nia smirked and snatched the vape out of Matthews hand to take a hit.
"i charge for every hit y'know" he says looking at her. Nia rolled her eyes.
"oh yeah? how's that?"
"i wouldn't mind a kiss" he shrugged innocently making Nia snort out a laugh.
"hilarious. really"
Samantha laughed at them along with Jade. the shorter girl had one leg resting on top of Jades with her head on the girls shoulder. "im assuming your going then?" Samantha asked Matthew who quickly looked away from Nia and at her.
"of course. i can't miss out on the first party of the year" he said with his usual smirk, he and Nia had a respectable space between them but every so often Samantha could see both of them inching just a millimeter closer. it was cute how oblivious they both were.
"Oliver and Natalie are probably going so count me in. just please don't let me do shots like last time" Nia said in a desperate tone.
the two girls chuckled at her whilst Matthews smirk widened. "i can take care of you"
Nia laughed, "right. sure. maybe i'll wake up in the bathroom floor and see you hooking up with some other girl in my room again"
Matthews smirk twitched, "that was one time and i said i was worry" he said and even though he was trying to sound playful it was obvious he truly felt bad about it.
Nia chuckled, "yeah okay"
Jade glanced between them, the tension so strong it was starting to suffocate her so she turned to Samantha, "are you going?" she asked.
Samantha shrugged, "maybe. i have to ask but she'll probably say yes. i'll just need a ride" she said knowing that was one of the only rules Ellen had set when she started going to parties. she knew her daughter would drink and she'd rather be aware of it then the fact being hidden from her so she just always made sure Samantha wasn't the one driving.
"i'll drive. Oliver and Natalie will probably ditch me either way" she rolled her eyes. Samantha smiled. she had been ditched by them as well, having to find a ride home from someone she'd rather not think about.
"cool then yeah i'll go" Samantha nodded.
Matthew cheered softly knowing he wouldn't be having to venture yet another party alone. it wasn't really anyone's fault, he seemed to want to go to one every weekend and they all were busy. considering his parents were divorced he had the benefit of their guilt on his side so he didn't have to get a job or do anything other than the bare minimum. he even got a black mustang for his sixteenth birthday.
Marcus had joined them a little later as he began to clean his bike. Samantha thought it was pointless that he got one, he couldn't ride it for another couple of months and she knew their mom wouldn't be all that in favor of him riding it all that often.
they were talking calmly until a girl with curly brown hair walked out of their house. Marcus stood up from cleaning his bike and said something but Samantha want entirely listening. she wondered who the girl was, though.
she saw the teen get on the bike and put on the helmet, she was slightly confused but then assumed she was just trying to show off to Marcus. she knew her brother could be an asshole and for some reason girls really loved that. but she was wrong seeing at the teen turned the key to start the bike and soon drove off.
"shit" Samantha muttered as she stood from her car and saw Marcus tell the teen to stop and come back but it was to no use. Matthew stopped talking to see what she was talking about and by the time he did the curly brunette was back on their driveway. she took off her helmet and got off, her body turned and she grabbed Marcus by the shoulders and leaned in to kiss him.
"damn" Matthew said amused, all of them now forgetting whatever it was they were talking about as they watched the scene unfold before them. the kiss looked awkward and weird and it made Samantha laugh along with her friends.
Matthew couldn't cover his amusement so he held his fist up to his mouth to try and contain his laughter. then a car pulled up making Samantha turn to it. shit.
Padma said something to Marcus and he immediately turned around to walk to the car. Samantha knew all about them hooking up and in her opinion Padma deserved better than an emotionally unavailable fifteen year old. they all watched as Ginny watched them drive off very obviously embarrassed by her previous actions.
"bold move Maxine's friend" Matthew called out obviously having heard what Marcus had told Padma just seconds before. the brunette blushed pink and began to walk away. she saw her walk toward Georgias house. huh. could she be her daughter? Georgia looked way too young to have a fifteen year old but then again she could've been a teen mom.
once the brunette was out of sight Matthew began to laugh even louder making Samantha turn and smack his arm. "stop being an asshole!"
"hey!" he laughed, "you've got to admit that was funny" he said his laughter still not dying down.
a small smirk formed on Samanthas lips, maybe he was right. Nia and Jade broke into a fit of laughter too which a wave of laughter escaped her lips as much as she tried to fight it. she just hoped that girl wouldn't cause problems in Marcus's life, he already had to go through enough shit already.
once the sun had set everyone except for Jade went home. Samantha was the one who had to take her home and she didn't feel like being without the girl so she told her to stay for dinner instead. Ellen loved that. Jade was always extremely respectful toward her and seemed to be the closest to Samantha aside from Nia.
after dinner Samantha drove her home, they stayed in the car talking for an hour before Ellen told her it was late and she should start heading home. the girl did so, even watched a movie with her parents before saying she was going to bed. of course she wasn't, she just had to wait until it was after one before she could sneak out and smoke. her mom never really suspected her daughter smoked weed and she'd never been caught, even by her siblings. she made sure to keep her secrets hidden. that was the point of a secret after all.
the raven haired girl already had a blunt rolled so she climbed down from her window and sat behind her car where no one could see her. she took her lighter out of her pocket and flicked it on. once it was lit she inhaled deeply, leaving it for a couple of seconds then exhaled. a wave of relief hit her at the feeling. the girl laid her head back against the white car, her arm was on top of her knee whilst the blunt was held with her thumb and pointer finger.
the neighborhood was quiet to no one's surprise, she lived in a rather wealthy side of town so it made sense that there wouldn't be crime or people on the streets. it was almost depressing how boring everything around her was. only the crickets could be heard and occasionally a vehicle or two would drive by. the only thing accompanying her was the starlit sky and the full moon.
or so she thought. her eyes landed on the house across the street. it was normal, just like any other house in the neighborhood. the porch light was on, Georgia's car was parked in the driveway and it seemed quiet. just like a basic suburban home. but it wasn't just a basic suburban home because this home had a blonde woman sitting on the balcony that was on the side of the house. the woman looked to be drinking a glass of red wine and she was staring at Samantha intently.
it was dark so Samantha couldn't really make out what she was wearing but she could feel her eyes on her. she wasn't expecting much so she just sent the blonde a smile, although she wasn't all that sure if she could even see her. it was hard to make out but once she narrowed her eyes she saw the blonde motioning her over. Samantha was confused, was she imagining this? she debated on if she should go over, she reeked of weed and she's sure Georgia saw her smoking but she didn't seem like a snitch. at least that's what she hoped. maybe going over and asking her to keep what she just saw on the low wouldn't hurt.
the raven girl put out the blunt and stood, she was a little high, just enough to feel fuzzy but not enough to actually feel it. she dusted her silk shorts and put her hands in her gray sweater. she was wearing black silk shorts that didn't exactly like hide much but she wasn't exactly expecting to have eyes on her, especially not her hot neighbor. she was only wearing a tank top so she decided to throw on of Marcus's sweaters on that for the record it looked like it was drowning her.
she made sure to look both sides before crossing the road, it was pointless considering it was the middle of the night but she did not want to die tonight. once she reached the blondes home she looked up as the blonde looked down at her. "hey stranger" she said with a smile.
Samantha smiled back, "hey" she responds. the blonde looked at the shorter girl slightly amused as she looked at the girl up and down. the action alone was making the raven haired girl grow nervous. she cleared her throat, "you didn't see anything.. right?" she asked extremely nervous now.
Georgia laughed, "oh, you mean the weed you were just smoking?" she asked with a very cocky smirk. Samantha was shifting from one foot to another and she scratched the back of her neck nervously. the blonde woman seemed to find pity on the girl as she waved her off, "i'm kidding of course."
a sigh of relief left the girls lips, "cool so you like, won't tell my mom or anything?" she asked hopeful.
there was a glint in the blondes eye that made Samantha feel even more nervous if that was even possible. "on one condition" Georgia said making Samantha raise a questioning brow. "share" she said simply.
Samantha was confused as hell by her comment. did she hear her correctly? she wanted her to share? "share?" she chuckled nervously.
Georgia simply looked at the girls right pocket that her hand was in and she was holding her blunt. the young girl finally cracked a smile, "fine" she shrugged. if she had to share her drugs to not get in trouble then that's fine with her. the blonde motioned to the tree making the shorter girl look at her confused.
"what? want to go through the front door instead?" she asked with a raised brow. Samantha glanced at the front of the house, contemplating if she should just go through the front door or not. chances are she'd end up making too much noise and wake her daughter up, not something she needs. she sighed heavily and took her hands out of her pockets.
"if i fall please tell my mom you coaxed me into smoking with you" Samantha said as she began to climb the tree. a beautiful laugh echoed throughout the dark night making the girls stomach fill with butterflies. it was hard to get her balance at first, her foot slipped once or twice but finally she was able to grab onto the railing. Georgia was standing now holding her hand out in case Samantha needed help but the girl was able to do it on her own. "fuck that was horrible" she breathed out and held her hand against her chest.
"you're so dramatic" Georgia rolled her eyes in amusement. once the girl calmed her heart she sat down where Georgia was previously sitting and the blonde followed her actions, taking the spot beside her. Samantha wordlessly took the blunt out of her pocket and the lighter as well.
“wanna do the honors?" she asked holding it close to the older woman. Georgia smirked and grabbed it from Samantha's hand before pulling it up to her lips. the raven girl turned the lighter on making the fire illuminate her face with an orange light. her freckles could be seen perfectly in that instant. the young girl made eye contact with the blonde before they moved down to the blunt, she bit her lip as she carefully brought the fire toward the blunt and heard it sizzle before it began to burn.
she pulled away a second later, still a little dazed by how close she was to the blonde. she cleared her throat awkwardly and looked at her hand as it reached into her pocket to place the lighter there. her eyes soon met Georgia's body, they started at her legs that were exposed. she was only wearing shorts and a silk shirt, both a beige color. her skin looked so smooth and soft Samantha had to hold herself back from recaching toward her and touching her. but she was snapped out of it pretty quickly by a cloud of smoke hitting her face slightly. her head shot up to see Georgia already looking at her with a small smirk.
Samantha cleared her throat, "i think i met your daughter today" she said and watched as Georgia offered her the blunt. the young girl grabbed it and brought it up to her lips, she inhaled deeply letting the smoke remain in her lungs for a couple of seconds before releasing it into the night.
Georgia chuckled, "oh, you mean the one who stole your brothers bike and then kissed him?"
Samantha smiled in amusement, "guess so"
Georgia sighed and brought the bud up to her lips and took a long drag. "that little shit doesn't know what's coming" she said as she released the smoke form her mouth. Samantha watched in amazement. she had been around people who smoked all the time but something about the way Georgia was doing it made her mind go blank.
she quickly blinked, she did not want Georgia to see her as the hopeless lesbian in love with her hot neighbor. "hey now," she said with a slight laugh "my brothers an asshole but.." she trailed off, where was even going with this? "yeah no he's just an asshole" she nodded in agreement.
Georgia laughed and blew the smoke out of her mouth once more. she did the same thing once more and gave Samantha the blunt. "you're not like your siblings huh?"
Samantha furrowed her brows in slight confusion, she looked at the ground as she took a small drag out of it. she was starting to feel it a little more now and wanted to pace herself. plus Georgia looked like she needed it more than her and she's willing to just give her the rest. "well i'm adopted" she tried to joke.
Georgia looked at her with a 'seriously' look that made Samantha laugh even more, "you know that's not what i mean"
the raven haired girl turned a lot more serious suddenly "i don't know i guess we just.. we don't have the same privilege that's all." she shrugged. Georgia saw the look on Samantha's face that told her she shouldn't push on the subject so she decided to change the conversation topic instead.
"your friends are funny" Georgia commented.
Samantha chuckled and pulled her knees up to her chest, she placed her chin on her knees for support and turned to look at the blonde. "if by funny you mean stupid then sure."
Georgia shook her head with a slight laugh. "you're a senior, right?"
"yeah. i was supposed to graduate early but i just couldn't leave those losers behind."
Georgia raised a brow, "so you're polite and smart, huh?"
Samantha did a double take "polite?" she asked completely confused and why she came to that conclusion. the blonde seemed to be asking completely random questions and she was starting to wonder how hard the weed is hitting.
the blonde smiled, it was one of those that made Samanthas heart beat a second time in just a second. "well, the first conversation i had with your brother he gave me weed" she started and was interrupted from continuing
Samantha looked a bit bewildered "he.. what?" she was aware her brother smoked every once in a while but she didn't think he'd be stupid enough to do it somewhere in which he could be caught. although she felt stupid for even thinking that considering their mother found him smoking on the side of the road a day before.
the blonde laughed softly at how concerned Samantha looked, "okay i'll admit i might've pried it off of him but regardless and this is the second conversation i've had with you that isn't ending up with you kissing up to me or you staring at my boobs."
Samantha looked even more shocked by her statement "oh?"
Georgia laughed even harder, "i just mean.." she chuckled breathlessly "you're mature for your age. that's all." she explained with a slight shrug. by now she had smoked all that she could and the tiny bud was resting on the ashtray beside her.
the girl finally understood what she was trying to say, she wasn't like her brother or maybe some of the teens she had met recently. it wasn't that she wanted be boring or a suck up but she just always craved the validation of her mom and sometimes even other adults. it was the way she could always be trusted and she was never considered to be irresponsible that really fueled her to always be perfect. she shrugged, "yeah well i guess that comes with being the older sibling and all."
Georgia nodded at her words and the two fell into a small silence. most of the time it would've made Samantha's skin crawl, she wasn't a fan of awkward encounters but somehow the way Georgia was smiling like this just gave her so much comfort. but even then she felt the need to fill the silence and he did, "so Ginny is your daughter?" she asked although she already knew the answer.
the blonde could understand the intentions behind her question pretty easily, it was everyone's question. "yeah," she nodded. "had her when i was fifteen."
Samantha's eyebrows rose in surprise "damn, that's.."
"slutty?"
the girl chuckled "i was gonna say brave"
the older woman raises a brow in question, obviously not believing her words. that had never been a way she was described and she didn't think the stoned eighteen year old in front of her would be any different.
Samantha chuckled at her actions, "i'm serious. you seem to have your life together, it's really impressive."
the blonde didn't seem to find a single lie behind her question so she accepted it "thank you"
the smile and intensity of the woman's stare was making Samantha feel all giddy. a shy smile overtook her features "yeah." she said lowly. she realized the conversation ended there when Georgia didn't make a move to speak again. a beat of silence passed before she spoke, finally getting the hint. "i think i should probably get going though."
"yeah," the woman nodded "don't want your mom knowing you were smoking with me."
Samantha smiled and stood "most definitely not. have to keep up the whole 'perfect daughter' persona up, y'know" she said and dusted herself off again.
"absolutely" the blonde agreed with a slight smile. she didn't stand and Samantha assumed she was going to stay out a while longer.
she carefully climbed to the other side of the railing and held on tightly as she said one final thing to the beautiful blonde "i'll see you around bud buddy"
Georgias eyebrows furrowed in confusion, a dozen different emotions flashed by her "i-.. did you just.. you know what? i'm too high for this" she shook her head holding her hands up in defeat.
Samantha laughed at her and climbed down the tree. once her feet were safely on the ground she turned up to look at Georgia again, she shot her one last smile that the blonde returned with ease. a second later she turned around and ran back to her house. she climbed her tree back up to her room and closed the window behind her, she didn't even bother taking off her sweater that reeked of weed and threw her body on the bed.
an uncontrollable smile overcame her features.

"A Sky Full of Stars."
This was a request for a one shot where Mike and Vanessa reveal their true feelings to each other. I didn't get all the plot points in the request, but I'll save those for a different one shot.
Thank you to the person that requested this. It was a joy to work with you, and I hope you enjoy :D!!
word count: 1,537
--
"How was school today?" Vanessa asks, taking her seat at the dinner table. Behind her, the setting sun casts an orangish glow on the off-white wall. It's a quarter after seven. It was a little later than
their usual dinner time, but only because Mike and she had to work later.
Mike at the local diner downtown.
And Vanessa at the police station.
Thankfully, she had the foresight to pick up a pizza before heading home.
And isn't that such a novel concept?
Home.
A place that Vanessa looks forward to returning to every day, with people that fill her heart with joy.
She feels….safe.
Mike smiles at her across the table. It's not as rare a sight since the entire incident at Freddy's occurred. For a while there, Vanessa worried he was incapable of smiling.
"Good," Abby answers, biting into her pizza. "I aid-"
"Ew, Abbs, don't talk with your mouthful," Mike lightly admonishes. "It's gross."
Swallowing, Abby sticks her tongue out. "You're grosser!"
Mike makes a face. "Nuh, uh!"
Watching the pair of siblings bicker is the highlight of her day. Their arguments are almost always silly and nonsensical, but they are the most entertaining things Vanessa has ever watched.
"Vanessa," Abby says, "tell Mike he's grosser than me."
She looks between the siblings. To a (relatively) clean little girl, save for the pizza sauce stain on her shirt. And then to the nearly 30-year-old man, with chronically sad eyes and a penchant for sleeping.
Neither of them are "gross" by any means, but Vanessa once watched the aforementioned nearly 30-year-old man dig through the trash can for coupons. Which she would be sympathetic to if they weren't already five months expired.
"Mike."
"See," Abby gloats, sitting back in her chair.
Mike puts a hand over his heart, leaning back. In a dramatic voice, he yells out, "Betrayal!" He touches the back of his hand to his forehead, feigning sickness.
Both she and Abby erupt into laughter. The kind that makes your sides hurt.
These are the moments that make this house feel like a home.
These are the moments that make Vanessa feel like she's finally found her people.
-x-x-x-
That night, Vanessa tucks Abby into bed. It's usually Mike's job, but he's setting up the VCR in the living room.
"Vanessa…?" Abby asks, fiddling with a loose thread in her blanket.
"Yeah?" She tucks a stray hair behind Abby's ear, soothing down the girl's bangs. "Something wrong?"
"No, I just…"
"Just what? You know you can talk to me. I promise, whatever it is, I won't get mad."
Abby nods. "You aren't going to leave anytime soon, right?"
"I would hope not. Unless this is your way of telling me to kick rocks?"
Abby blinks owlishly up at her. "What does kick rocks mean?"
Again, Vanessa soothes the girl's bangs down. "Leave, get out."
"Oh," Abby murmurs. "No, I'm asking because we don't want you to leave." She furrowed her eyebrows. Such a severe expression on such a cute face should be laughable, but Vanessa listens to her as intently as she would her boss. "I think if you left, Mike would be sad again. He smiles more when you're around."
"He smiles when you're around, too," Vanessa says. And that's the truest thing she's ever said.
Everything he does, he does for Abby. Hell, what led Mike to even take the job at Freddy's was his need to stay with his sister.
"Yeah, 'cause he loves me, too."
Vanessa flounders, trying the right words. "Yeah…uh….well, your brother doesn't love me. But we are pretty good friends, so-"
"No, he loves you." Her tone is so matter-of-factly that Vanessa finds it hard to argue. "Or, at the very least, really, really likes you."
She nods along, unable to formulate a coherent thought.
"But that's okay with me. I like you being here." Abby's eyes start to shut, head sinking deeper into the pillow. "I think you're cool."
Vanessa pulls the covers up. "I think you're cool, too," she murmurs. "Goodnight, Abby."
-x-x-x-
It's nine by the time Vanessa makes her way down the hallway. A glance at the clock hanging in the dining room tells her that much.
The living room is only lit by a static-filled screen. The VCR rests in front of the TV, not hooked up. Mike is nowhere in sight.
"Mike?" She calls. "Where did you go?" It's times like this that Vanessa really hates her father. When her anxiety starts acting up, and it feels like there's a weight on her chest. Making it hard to breathe. To think.
She panics - just a little and quietly because Abby is sleeping. She looks behind the couch, in the
kitchen, and even behind the TV stand. But there's no sign of Mike, which only makes her anxiety worse.
The front door opens. Mike pops his head in. "Right- are you okay?"
Vanessa stares at him, eyes wide and hair a mess from the frantic search. "Yes, why wouldn't I be?"
He looks at her, and then looks at the askew couch cushions, and then back at her.
"No reason. I wanted to show you something." Mike holds the door open.
"I thought we were gonna watch a movie."
"I promise this is better," he says.
"Better than," Vanessa eyes the cassette tape on the TV stand, "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer?"
Mike shakes his head. "Nothing is better than Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, but this is definitely a close second."
She laughs, joining Mike outside.
It's a warm night in the middle of July. Pleasantly warm, too. There's a slight breeze that offsets the heat.
He takes her by the hand, fingers intertwining with hers. "Sit here," Mike says, leading her to an area in the front yard. A thin blanket has been laid out.
"What-"
"You have to lay down." As if to emphasize this point, Mike lies down. He glances up at her. "C'mon, you're going to miss it."
Heaving a sigh, Vanessa lays down next to him. The yard is lumpy, and her back still hurts, even with a blanket. She hopes whatever Mike wants to show her is worth the back pain she'll be dealing with for the next month.
"Good, now, look up."
She does so. The sky is beautiful tonight, a million tiny twinkling stars against the black void of space. It's mesmerizing. Vanessa smiles. "This…this is beautiful."
"I know," Mike says, "but that's not why I brought you out here. Keep looking."
Vanessa hums a response, focused on the night sky. Something about looking at the sky puts in perspective how small they truly are.
Suddenly, something crosses the sky. A ball of light. Her eyes widened. "Mike?"
"Make a wish," he murmurs, interlocking his fingers with hers.
Considering Mike doesn't seem concerned, she chooses to believe that whatever that is, it's not dangerous. Especially when a few more pass by after it.
She closes her eyes and makes a wish. When Vanessa opens them, Mike is eyeing her intently.
"What did you wish for?"
Her smile turns mischievous. "I can't tell you. Wish rules and all that."
He turns his head back to look at the sky. "Right, right, otherwise it won't come true." Mike sighs dramatically. "I guess that means I can't tell you mine."
"Nope," she says, zero hesitation in her answer.
It's silent for a solid minute. The only sounds are dogs barking in the distance and the occasional car passing by.
Mike is the first to crack up, and Vanessa's composure crumbles shortly after that. Their laughter feels contagious, being passed back and forth until their sides and faces hurt.
Vanessa takes a deep breath, trying to calm herself. There are tears in her eyes, but for once, they're the happy kind.
"Phew," Mike starts, breathless, "hehe…I…I haven't laughed that hard in a long time."
"Me either."
It finally hits Vanessa that they're holding hands, like…like a couple. She glances down at their
interlocked fingers. Mike is so gentle when he holds her hand. She could yank it away without any extra force at any point, but he's still firm in his grasp. He squeezes her hand every so often.
It makes her heart beat faster, and her face turn red.
They look at each other. Not a single word passes between them, but they don't have to talk.
Vanessa doesn't remember if she or Mike made the first move. All she knows is that they're staring into each other's eyes one second. And the next, they're kissing.
His hair is surprisingly soft beneath her fingers. His lips, too, and he tastes like an after-dinner mint.
When they pull away, his face is red, and his pupils are blown. Mike smiles at her. "I like you," he admits. "And it's okay if you don't-"
Vanessa leans in again, kissing his forehead, the tip of his nose, and finally, his lips. "I like you, too, Michael Schmidt."
"Really?" He asks, sounding genuinely surprised.
"No, I just go around kissing everybody."
Mike laughs. "Okay, smartass."
They continue watching the sky. Vanessa gets closer and leans her head against Mike's shoulder. Hand-in-hand, they fall asleep under a sky full of stars.

a lots gonna change pt.5
Summary: Married life isn’t great, infidelity ensues, and things change.
next chapter
“Tell me who you belong to.” She demanded, hand wrapping around your thigh, squeezing tight.
“You… I belong to you.” You could hardly speak but managed to get that much out between her hard licks. Tears of pain and pleasure started to form in your eyes.
“Say it! Who!” She shouted. “Who makes you feel this good?”
You moaned louder. “...mommy… only mommy fucks me this good…”
Your wife had your legs wrapped over her shoulders, licking and sucking as you moaned uncontrollably. Her fingers plunged inside you, as your soft, tight walls throbbed around her, as her fingers moved continuously on your clit, rubbing her tongue against it in tandem with her hand. Your body began quaking as you overcame your orgasm, screaming obscenities into the otherwise quiet room.
You inhaled deeply, trying to catch your breath as you lifted your head from the bed to look at her. She was kneeling on the floor at the edge of the bed, face slick from your release, her cheeks a dark shaded crimson.
"Jesus... when you asked to come upstairs for a kiss, I didn't expect that..." you muttered, breathless and smiling.
-
Ellie was sat on the left side of the sofa, like she always did, her fingertips drumming lightly against the soft fabric of her black slacks. Louise, your couples therapist, sat adjacent to the couch, in her armchair tapping her fountain pen against a notebook. The two of them didn't share a word, save for greetings and awkward smiles of acknowledgment. Ellie glanced at the clock that sat on the wall and sighed, where were you?
It was now nearing 4, and you had agreed to meet Ellie at 3:30. Yet you still hadn’t arrived, to make matters worse your phone wasn’t going through which was strange, as you were always reachable.
"Mrs. Williams, I have a client coming in, in about" she looks at her watch and gazes back at her. "15 minutes, I'm always happy to reschedule" she smiles politely, as she gets up and walks to her desk.
"Sure, I apologise on behalf of my wife, I'm not sure what's going on" she says, as she rises from the couch then collects her coat.
"No need, she's a working woman again, we can't blame her" she smiles and walks Ellie to the door. She nods her goodbye as she exits the office, slightly glad she wouldn't have to sit through another session.
-
You were currently in the parking lot of a local bar, sat on the curb as Abby and Morgan, tried to fix your car. After finishing off work quite early, Abby had persuaded you into joining she and the rest of the team for drinks, seeing as you still had 1 hour before you and Ellie’s session you’d agreed reluctantly. After a single gin and tonic (to avoid going over the limit) you packed your things and bid the crew goodbye, but once you got to your car you realised you'd be stuck in this parking lot way longer than you'd like. To ensure Ellie didn't waste her time waiting for you, you quickly plucked your phone out of your purse only to find that it had died.
"So what exactly is wrong with it?" You ask, coming up behind Abby and Morgan who are stationed in front of the car with the hood popped open.
"Nothing, we've checked everything from the engine to the battery and it all seems to be okay, I'm not sure why it won't start" says Morgan as he scratches his head in thought.
"I think it's a problem with your key, the battery in it is dead so you're going to need an entirely new key... or do you have a spare?" Abby asks as she turns around to face you.
"Yeah, but it's at home" you reply.
"Well without that spare key, this car is not moving" Abby says, making you groan. This couldn't have come at a less convenient time. Ellie was either fuming or worried, you were hoping for the latter.
-
After your failure to show at todays counselling session, Ellie picked Lila up from Joel’s and went straight home. By now Lila was fully better and her irritability and clinging had thankfully come to a stop. That didn't mean she dropped the sass. Ellie prompted to make dinner, so when you returned, whenever that was, the three of you could eat together but Lila had other plans.
"No momma, tea party!" She yelled from the kitchen floor as she tugged on her legs. If she weren't her child, Ellie would've been tempted to step on her.
"No, I have to make dinner" her voice stern and decided, leading the child to roll her eyes, a habit she had very recently become accustomed to.
"Mean momma" she angrily toddles out of the kitchen with her pink and gold embellished tea cup, causing her to sigh and return her attention to the dinner she was trying to make.
-
Just when you thought your evening couldn't have gotten any worse, rain began pouring heavily. Morgan and Abby encouraged you to leave your car here for the night and have one of them take you home. Abby being more than willing to take you home, one could even say she was quite adamant. You didn't want to be stuck in the rainfall waiting for Ellie to pick you up and the short sleeved blouse and pencil skirt you sported didn't help so you accepted her offer.
"I've turned the heater on, I can see that you're freezing" She says as her hand strokes your thigh, for a lone second. You immediately shift uncomfortably at her advance. She knew you were married, she had met your wife and kid and yet her flirting never stopped. You whispered a quiet, “thank you” and kept your attention on your lap, as you played with your wedding band.
"Here, have this it seems the heater isn't working in your favour" Abby smiles at you, while reaching for a coat that was splayed on one of her backseats. You accept the offering not wanting to freeze, as you sink further into the warmth of the heated chair.
"Thank you, I'm not usually affected this much by the cold" you reassure her as you look outside the car window, lost in the buzz of traffic and the street lights of the cities boulevards.
"Well that's one thing we have in common” She simply smiles ahead, her eyes focused on the road. The car falls silent and you spend the rest of the ride sat in gentle silence.
-
"Where's mommy?" Lila has returned to the kitchen after giving her mother the silent treatment, in search for her other mother.
"I don't know baby, she's running late isn't she?" Ellie reaches down to pick her up when she hears a knock at the door.
"Mommy?" She questions, looking at Ellie in search for answers.
"Well let's go see if it is mommy" she states as she makes her way over to the foyer to get the door.
-
The doors to your home open and you are met with Ellie, who is stood in her usual band tee and a pair of sweatpants, with Lila sat in her arms. The first thing she notices is your freezing state and the oversized coat that clings to your body.
"Y/n, what the fuck happened are you okay?" Ellie questions as she hikes Lila higher and looks at you worriedly. Lila waves at you sweetly and you return the action making her smile.
"I'm so sorry I missed todays session, our team went for a drink and then my car wouldn't start so Abby was kind enough to drop me home" you say as you wrap your arms around yourself, shivering.
"Don't worry about that, come in you're freezing" Ellie ushers you into the house and immediately reaches for her phone, adjusting the home’s controls to turn the heat up.
"So what happened to your car?" She asks as she leads you to the kitchen and starts the kettle.
"I'm not entirely sure, you know I don't know shit about cars, but Abby thinks my key battery died" She looks at you as she drops a teabag of chamomile and stirs a small spoon of sugar into a large embellished teacup.
"Yeah, that shit happens you'll need to carry around your spare from here on out, I was worried" she says, placing the cup of tea on the island and leaning down for a kiss.
"I know I'm sorry, here can you put my phone in charge I'm just going to let Abby in, she needed to use our bathroom" you say as you place your cup down and make your way back outside. Ellie rolls her eyes, not wanting to be in the presence of that woman who so clearly wanted you.
"Hungry!" Lila whines and Ellie decides it's time she reheat the dinner she so graciously prepared.
-
"Still need to take a leak?" You question Abby through her rolled down window, she smiles and nods so you lead her into the house.
"You have a nice home" she observes the foyer in all its glory, the glossy orange hue from the midway entries, large vintage light piece glowing through her blue orbs.
“Thank you” you say, as you lead her further into the home.
-
"Abby, evening" Ellie says as she stands behind the island, a pot of spaghetti in hand, Lila is sat on a bar stool, colouring a rather hideous drawing she had made.
"Evening Ellie, sorry for disrupting your dinner but I have to use the restroom" Ellie nods and focuses back on what you're assuming was spaghetti and meatballs, one of very few meals she knew how to make. You show Abby to the bathroom and return to the kitchen.
"Did you cook, dinner?" You ask, coming behind Ellie who was grating a generous amount of cheese onto the meal. You wrap your arms around her waist, peppering kisses onto her neck and back.
"Yes, you know you’re not the only one who knows how to cook around here” she smirks as she plates some of it, opting to give Lila a smaller portion as her appetite was not quite as big as the two of yours.
"Mmmmmm, it smells really good, best way to end the night" you smile as you nuzzle further into her.
"Well there are better ways to end the night" she smiles, looking down at you and you know where this is going.
"Don't be dirty minded" you playfully smack her arm and she laughs at you. "Hey, to be fair you thought it" you can't help but push her again and then look to your left where Abby has now entered the kitchen.
"Oh Abby, everything alright?" You question as she straightens her suit and walks over to you.
"Yeah, thank you for your restroom, I'll be leaving now" she smiles.
"You can stay for dinner" you blurt out, unsure of where the idea had come from. Ellie physically tenses up at your words and turns to you.
"She can, since when?" She says out loud and you roll your eyes at her bluntness.
"It's fine Y/n I wouldn't want to impose, plus my cat is probably due a feeding" she waves off dismissing your invitation.
"Well I suppose another time then" you smile apologetically at her, embarrassed by Ellie’s behaviour. Abby simply nods. You expect her to make her way to the door when once again she walks up to you, placing a kiss on your cheek. Your body freezes up and you turn to gauge Ellie’s reaction.
"I'll see you out" Ellie spits through her teeth and you have to suppress a groan at the obvious strap off the two of them were having.
-
"What are your intentions with my wife?" Ellie asks as she and Abby walk through the halls towards the front door.
"Nothing, I find y/n to be a good friend, you’re lucky to have her" Abby says, trying to make Ellie feel small, or at-least that's what Ellie felt she was attempting. As she towered over her, smirking.
"Good, I'm glad you know your boundaries, just remember that she’s my wife, she belongs to me" they've made it to the door and Abby steps out of the house, Ellie’s left leaning on the frame of the front door, gazing at her with fury.
"Goodnight Ellie, pass my regards to y/n and Lila"
"I will" Ellie lowly spits, she attempts to close the door when Abby suddenly calls her name once more making her halt.
"By the way, tell y/n she can keep my coat for as long as she pleases" Abby is now smirking, as she walks away in the rain, making her way over to her car. Ellie wasn't sure what she was feeling but she sure as hell was seeing red, she was going to kill that motherfucker.
-
"Mmmm" Lila exclaims each time you feed her a mouthful of the spaghetti. Ever since the awkward encounter between Abby and Ellie, the two of you hadn't spoken a word to one another. You were upset that she couldn't be civil with your colleague, but also couldn’t blame her as Abby couldn’t seem to keep her hands to herself. You however didn’t understand why Ellie was taking her anger out on you. It’s not like you were entertaining Abby’s advances.
"All done?" You question Lila and she nods, you pick her plate and yours up, place them in the dishwasher and pick up the messy child who was now covered in spaghetti sauce.
"Say Goodnight to momma" you tell her, as she was off to bed from here and you knew she took it very seriously whenever she didn't get to bid Ellie goodnight.
"G'night momma" she says as she leans down and places a kiss on Ellie’s cheek. She mutters goodnight to her daughter, placing a small kiss on her forehead and then proceeds to pack up the table.
After giving Lila a bath and settling the toddler in for the night, you head to your room, deciding it was about time you finally called it a day.
-
"I changed the sheets" Ellie mumbles as you enter the bed, fresh out the shower.
"Thanks" you mumble, as you reach into your bedside table to grab the book you were reading.
"Why did you have her coat on?" You hear her blurt abruptly as you are halfway through your page.
"What kind of question is that?" You now place the book on the side table and gaze at her.
"It's a question, now answer it"
"I know what your stupid question is insinuating Ellie, and I'm offended you would think that lowly of me" she shakes her head and sighs. Honestly you’d had a hell of a day, and weren’t in the mood for her accusations.
"This isn't about what I think of you, she fucking kisses you infront of me, she has no sense of boundaries. I don't trust her and I can tell from the way she acts around you that she wants to be more than friends and you're blind if you can't see that."
Her voice is calm and collected, she must've been utilising the tips Louise had given the two of you during your sessions, about settling conflicts.
"As my wife you should trust me enough to not worry when I'm in the company of those that you don't trust. To assume that I did anything with that woman is unfair and disrespectful" you counter.
"It's jus-"
"If we don't have trust we have nothing Ellie" tears begin to spill down your face and she can't help but feel guilty. You grab your book and phone and climb out of the bed, heading straight for the door.
"Y/n come back!" She urges, but you aren't hearing any of it and exit the room making your way to the guest room.
She felt like shit, she let her greed and selfishness push her into cheating. Not only was she doing that but she was pushing the paranoia she, herself manifested by her own cheating onto you. You didn't deserve this, any of this and she was running out of ways to make things better.

When Herogasm was over, Abby tried to move on from whatever had happened that night. She actually did move on, focusing on her work in her town, stopping robberies and crimes, patrolling the streets and trying to keep her image always friendly.
She could punch robbers and catch shoplifters all day, but people didn’t learn about her works from that, but from her actions and her charity. Half her day, when the sun was up, was spent building houses and hospitals and working with fundraising for people in need, defending protestors and maintaining peace.
Tonight, though, it was a little different. Police had alerted her about some bank robbers near her, so she could reach them while they were still on the way, and she was trying to work out how she was going to catch them without them noticing her presence first.
She tried to be stealthy, getting in through the back as the robbers and hostages were in the front, and managed to do it, hearing the yelling from the robbers as they tried to threaten the bank clerks.
Abby sneaked down the hall, and thankfully, one of the men passed by as they tried to use one of the codes onto the safe, giving her the opportunity to quietly disarm him, putting him into a choke hold, so he wouldn’t say anything until his body fell unconscious in her grip, and she quickly shoved a cloth between his lips and covered his mouth with the tape he had in his hands, taping his hands together and shoving him into an empty room.
She stared for a moment at his gun, unsure. Abby had had formal weapon training, but she had never actively carried a gun before, with her strength always being enough. Still, this was a close-quarters environment.
She had to diffuse it before it got worse.
So she put it in her belt, moving to the front and stopping as she saw another
She made a move to the front, seeing another man on patrol right behind her. Before he could process her presence, though, she hit him on the side of the head, knocking him against the wall and out like a light.
“Who the fuck-!” she heard the voice of gun head shouted, finally seeing her.
He grabbed one of the crying clerks and pressed the gun against her temple, while a final robber pulled his gun to Abby’s face.
“Stay the fuck back!” their leader commanded. “Or we’ll kill every single one of them!”
Abby tried to keep her cool, raising her hands and showing them her open palms.
"The police are on their way," she told them. "You don't want to add murder to your charges. If you let them go, I promise you, I-"
"Screw the cops!" he interrupted her, voice full of fear. "We are not going back to jail."
"You are afraid," she stated simply, trying to reason with them. "I get it."
The leader flinched, trying to keep his posture.
"They didn't give a shit about us. I was locked up for ten years, and then they just spat us out," he told her, angry. "I didn't have clothes, money, not even a place to stay! Do you think this whole shit even matters? They can replace every brick of this fucking place."
She nodded along, listening to him.
"But those people are important," she reminded him. "They have families. Parents, children and partners. They can't be replaced."
He looked at the clerk, hesitant and shaking a little.
"Let her go," she told him. "And I promise I'll personally help you with what you need."
He finally sighed, defeated, and tossed his gun away.
"Let her go, dude," he told his partner.
Abby sighed in relief.
"Thank-"
The glass of the window broke as a shot rang out, and she didn't have time to even move as the leader robber fell, blood splattering all over the clerk in front if you like a bullet got him on the head.
A figure stood at the entrance, and she was about to push the man in front of her out of the way when he fell in her arms with two bullets down his back.
"No!" she gasped.
Screams filled the room, but the sounds were muffled in her ears as she tried to revive the man in her arms, but he was far gone, instantly dead.
Abby hadn't even been able to process anything when a pair of boots stopped by her side.
"I heard you needed help, doll," a known voice spoke, too cocky, from above her.
She looked up and there he was. Soldier Boy.
Ben.
He reached his hand to grab hers, not looking bothered.
"Come on," he hummed. "These people still need to get out.
She took it, unsure of what else to do.
"Everything is fine now," he told the group. "You are all saved."
She watched as people's faces changed from fear to happiness, and their screams became cheers.
The police rushed him, and things moved along. The man she had locked up was arrested, just as the one unconscious by her side, and the blood-covered clerk was very quiet as they escorted her away.
"You almost had me worried there," Soldier Boy hummed, hand rubbing the small of her back.
Her hands were still covered in blood.
"I had it handled, sir," she explained softly, unsure.
He chuckled.
"Sir?" he asked. "Now that's new."
"He surrendered," she looked at her face.
Soldier Boy scoffed.
"Right," he shook his head. "Sweetheart, men like that don't just surrender and let cops carry them away. He would have just hurt you as soon as you turned your back to him."
She wanted to say something, but a sudden flash hit her face.
Reporters.
"Smile," Soldier Boy instructed, but all she could do was look at them. "They are gonna want to hear all about how you saved the day."
She turned back to him just as he moved to put his shield in front of them, covering her hands.
"This is gonna make the first page."
She inhaled deeply before smiling when the first reporter walked to them, and they did just as he had told her, asking questions about everything.
She expected Soldier Boy to leave, but he just gestured to his very nice car.
"Let me drive you home, ma'am," he smiled, holding the door open like a gentleman.
A part of her wanted to say no, but once again she felt trapped by his eyes and sweet smile.
So she followed him and got into her car, and Soldier Boy said goodbye to everyone before driving the two off, and she was about to ask him if he knew where he was going - she hadn't told him her address - when he pulled into an alley and grabbed her face in his hands.
"God," he groaned, kissing her. "I've missed you."
She moaned at the kiss.
"You couldn't have found me sooner?" she panted.
"I wanted to," he assured her, groaning. "Got busy with dumb bullshit. I had to hack the police intercom for just a fucking reason to come down here."
He pulled her to his lap quickly, and Abby gasped.
They were going to do this? Here?
"We can go to my home," she tried to argue with him.
"But I can fuck you right here," he moved his hands up, looking for her zip.
Abby shook her head.
"Unless you don't want us to go more than one round, someone will find us," she argued.
He looked at her, challenging, but she stood her ground.
Finally, he grunted in defeat.
"Fine," he rolled his eyes. "Let's get to your home."

44. Two Roads [Ophelia, Abby, Miri]
An announcement before getting to the writing is that WIP Wednesdays for October will be on hold because I will be participating in Fictober again this year, making it the sixth year I've done so.
As such, I won't be posting a prompt from the 100 Themes Challenge on the first like I normally do as I'll be working from this year's Fictober list instead. If there are prompts that I start but don't finish, they will be posted at my End of the Year WIP Wednesdays for 2024.
So, no end of the month WIP Wednesdays for the month of October! Sorry about that!
Now, onto September's prompt for this year: Two Roads. We got:
-Ophelia literally choosing a path to follow while she's on the run with Ranmaru trying to stop her -Didn't get to the choice part of his story, but Vincent has just lost Abby to the Time Door and he's not happy about this turn of events -And Miri is debating on telling Lucifer that she's from the future because he's really pissing her off with his stubbornness. Inspired by Nightbringer Lesson 35.
Raw, unedited writing below the cut. No major warnings save for things being a little emotionally heated with these prompts. At worst, Vincent contemplates door violence?
----------
Ophelia
Distant shouts and gunfire rumbled behind Ophelia as she ran as fast as her legs could carry her. Where she was going, she had no idea. All she knew was that she had to get away from Nobunaga. She had no place in war, the man was mad to bring her here, even after all the times she had refused him.
She felt lucky to have escaped when she did amongst the chaos. Was it foolish on her part?
Yes, very much so.
Did she regret her decision?
No, she did the right thing in getting away from him.
All that was left now was to find a way back to Vail Isle, before any other strange phenomena decided to sweep her away again.
First, she needed to find shelter. The battle was still too close for comfort and who knew if Nobunaga would be sending his lackeys after her.
When she stopped to catch her breath, before her stood two roads. One was a well, worn open path. It might lead her to a village that was close by, she figured.
The other was a forested path, branches and stones littering the ground. It seemed unused, older, as if it hadn't seen a human passerby in a few ages. Where would that path lead, she wondered.
"Lady Ophelia!" A familiar voice called behind her, the footfalls coming towards her quickly.
Ophelia didn't turn around, already moving her own feet down the forest path.
"Don't go down that way! It's dangerous!" Ranmaru shouted.
Ophelia ignored him, kept her eyes forward and continued to run, her lungs feeling like they were on fire.
"Lady Ophelia, please! Stop!"
Ranmaru continued to chase her, gritting his teeth as they raced through the forest.
A low tree root stood in Ophelia's path, sending her flying towards the ground. Ranmaru scrambled to catch her, both landing thankfully on a soft patch of grass. However, Ophelia pushed hard against Ranmaru, the younger trying to hold onto her.
"No, let me go!"
"I can't let you go, Lady Ophelia!"
"Release me!"
"I can't! You're in danger here!"
"I'm not going back to that psychotic wretch of a man!!"
"I won't take you back! I promise!"
"Then release me!"
"I can't! I told you it's dangerous here! I can't let you go any further!"
Ophelia squirmed and pushed hard, finally running out of steam as she sat on the ground.
Ranmaru sat beside her, also catching his breath for the moment. "I won't take you back to Lord Nobunaga, I promise, but can we go back to the other path? It's safer there."
"You keep saying that. What's so dangerous about this forest?"
"I'll explain later, but, please, come with me?" Ranmaru pleaded, holding Ophelia's hand between his own. "I can take you somewhere safe for the time being. Please, Lady Ophelia?"
-----------
Abby
Vincent fell to his knees in front of the door, sealed tightly no matter how much he pushed and pulled. He called out Abby's name, banged his fists against the door. No other sounds in the hallway reached his ears. No booted footfalls, no grunts of struggle, no demands for what happened. All Vincent could do was stare at the door in silence.
She was gone. Abby was gone. Vincent couldn't feel air entering into his lungs anymore, as if someone had punched him in the stomach. His head fell forward, the hard wood making a dent into his forehead but he didn't feel it. All of his thoughts were focused on the last image of Abby falling through the open door, her eyes full of fear. He banged his fist against the door again, hard enough to feel it starting to bruise.
After a few moments, a large, warm hand squeezed his shoulder, the scent of cigarillos enveloping him.
"Le Comte wants to see you."
Vincent stopped beating the door, his breathing ragged.
"I have to go after her."
"Hm?"
"I need to go after her."
"The door won't open for another month, caro."
"I'll… I'll make it open…!"
The hand on his shoulder pulled on him harder.
"Whoa, hold on there."
"Let me go. I have get her back."
"You won't get to her by turning the door into splinters and chips."
"We won't know until I try it, right?"
"Vincent." Leonardo admonished. "Much as I want to tear it off the hinges to get her back too, that's not how it works. Talk to Le Comte first."
-----------
Miri
Miri knew that she likely wouldn't survive this surprise train ride with Lucifer, one way or another. And Lucifer was going to get his way, regardless of her answers, she knew that as well.
If only she could tell him the truth. That she was from the future, that she was going back to him, to him and his brothers in the future, where she truly belonged. She had already sworn to secrecy with Solomon as it could disrupt the flow of this timeline's flow (or something, she still didn't understand a lot about time magic or time travel), but Lucifer was making it very difficult for her to keep her mouth shut. First at the bookstore with his declaration that she should be a teacher at RAD, then inviting himself along with the train trip tickets she had won, guaranteeing the two would be alone 'to talk', picking out an outfit for her to wear to dinner, and finally, the final straw, choosing for her at dinner without her input.
She probably should have taken a page out of the Anti-Lucifer's book and cursed him with how angry he was making her, but, for all of his… childishness, let's call it that, she knew why he was doing it and that made her eyes prick with unshed tears.
If only she could tell him the truth, maybe then he'd back off. He'd agree to the pact again and she could finally back home… back to him… back to her normal….back to the Lucifer she knew. Her Lucifer.
She looked down at her ring, his ring, feeling heartsick.
"You're not eating, Miri." Lucifer's deep, familiar voice interrupted her thoughts.
"Sorry, but not getting a choice in the matter has soured my appetite." She refused to look at him.
A sigh.
"Still angry, I see."
"And whose fault is it I'm angry to begin with?"
"And stubborn."
"Thanks, I learned it from the best."
"You're being ridiculous." she heard the sound of a knife scraping against a plate. "Just stay in Devildom. You can be happy here. You already are."
"I can't stay."
"Why not?"
"Because."
Another sigh.
"'Because' isn't an answer. Try again."
She finally turned to look at him, her brows furrowed. "Isn't wanting to go home enough of a reason?"
"Where is your home?"
"The… the human realm."
"You hesitated."
"So?"
"You had to think of the answer. It wasn't the first thought that came to your mind, was it?"
"What does it matter? I'm a human, so that means I'm from the human realm, duh."
"Where is your home in the human realm?"
"It's… it's a big realm."
"Is it now?"
"Yes. You probably haven't heard of it."
"You're dodging the question."
"Why do you want to know? Are you going to going to follow me home?"
"As tempting as that sounds, you can't return without my help. And you still haven't answered me."
"Yes, I have."
"Miriam…"
"I want to go back to the Human Realm. What else is there to know?"
"Where is this place in the Human Realm that you want to return to so badly?"
"Why does it matter so much to you?"
"You're still not answering me."
"You're not answering me!"
"Fine, let me ask a different question." He held out his fork towards her, close to her mouth. "The people you want to return to. What are they like?"
"What are they-"
"They must be special to you. So, tell me about them. You've told me about this bitter coffee lover in your life. Let's start with him."
Miri, startled by the sudden question, didn't notice that Lucifer had slid a piece of his bicorn into her mouth until she started to chew. She looked at the Ring of Light again, lost in thought.
"At first, he was pretty scary. Intimidating. I was a stranger to him that was imposed onto his family, but he tolerated me. That's how it started anyway."
Miri pressed her fingers close to her right ear, where Mammon's pact was. The lines were invisible when she wasn't actively using her pacts, but she always got a slight tingle when she thought of the brothers.
"And I was… nothing but trouble for him. Sticking my nose in where I shouldn't and all that. Sounds familiar, doesn't it?"

hi! i was wondering if i could get something with gibbs where you're abbey's new assistant? using: "right person, wrong time" thanks!
Title: Back To You
Word Count: 2206
Warnings: None
Pairings: GibbsxReader
Summary: The director assigns you to be abby's new lab tech. After chip and Fred she doesn't trust you until Gibbs gives her a reason to.
"No." The lab tech's eyes darted between you and the director.
"Abby," Jenny sighed, like it wasn't the first time they've had this conversation. "Chip was one person, Y/N is different. We've done an extensive background test and not only that but she's a former Marine."
"I don't care what she is! Chip was a bad, bad guy, Director! And so was Fred! She's probably bad too!"
"You do know that I'm standing right here, right?" You cross your arms over your chest. This wasn't where you wanted to be either, you wanted to be an agent in the field but the injury you sustained on your final tour wouldn't let you.
"Director I cannot have an.. outsider as my assistant! I work alone."
They kept bantering back in forth as if you weren't there until the Director finally snapped. "That's enough! Miss Sciuto, Y/N is going to be your assistant, no negotiations. This is final. It is still a trial basis, after one month we'll see how it goes." She gave you a look that clearly said 'good luck' before she turned to leave.
You stood awkwardly while Abby ran her eyes over you, squinting and turning her head in all weird sorts of way.
"Is there something I can do to make you more comfortable around me? The director told me what happened to you, with your other assistants."
Abby rolled her eyes. "I'm sure she did. I'm sure you know all about them because you're one of them."
"Abby, I'm not.. one of them," you tried to explain, "I'm just me. You read my file right? I've done a tour in Afghanistan and a tour in Iraq and I've been working for the Army CID for eight years. I'm highly decorated, and guess what, I don't want to be here either, but here I am."
Abby didn't answer, she just handed you a clipboard and said "Inventory."
The next morning you arrive to work at a time that you thought was early, however entering the forensics lab you could see that you were very wrong. Abby was hovering over her computer, a print was running through AFS. Another agent was standing next to her, looking through a bin of evidence.
"Morning Abby," you say, putting your stuff down in the office. She doesn't answer you. You sigh, grabbing a Monster out of your bag and throwing on a lab coat. "Do we have a case?" You stood on the opposite side of the table as them, trying to get a look at the evidence laid out.
"Sorry she gets like this when she's focused." The other agent smiles and looks up, extending a hand. "I'm Special Agent McGee, you can call me Tim."
"I'm Sergeant Y/L/N. Call me Y/N. Very nice to meet you."
"And you as well." He leaned against the table, taking his time to actually talk for a minute. "Are you in the navy?"
You shake your head. "Army CID. So, are you the boss around here? Other than Jenny, of course."
Tim laughed, shaking his head, "No, thankfully. That'll be Gibbs, wherever he is right now. He's a little intimidating when you first meet him but after awhile you realize he won't hurt you."
McGee continued talking but he had lost you at 'Gibbs.' It wasn't until you realized the talking had stopped and they were both staring at you that you realized you had zoned out. "Agent Gibbs," you start, "is he here now, or.. will he be coming down here?"
"No." Abby answers. "Did you finish inventory?"
You nod, handing her the clipboard that hung on the wall. "Finished last night before I left."
She hesitated before taking it, giving you a slight nod.
"Is there something I can do to help you with this case?"
"No." She turned her back to you and McGee just shrugged.
"So Gibbs," you say again.
"He's in the field right now," McGee replies. "Why?"
You tried to sound nonchalant as you answered, "I just want to meet the man in charge. Is there something wrong with that?"
McGee shook his head. "Nope. Just kinda weird. Most people hear the name Gibbs and try and run as far away as they can. He should be back later this afternoon."
"Y/N." Abby whirled around. "I'm going to give you a job. If you mess it up I swear that I will make your life miserable. Take this," she handed you a bin of evidence, "up to Officer Ziva David, McGee will go with you. Can I trust you not to kill him?"
You rolled your eyes and took the bin. "If that's what it takes for you to trust me."
The two of you stood in the elevator, taking it up to the main floor.
"This is Ziva. Tony, Agent DiNozzo, he's out with Gibbs."
A young agent with curly brown hair and bright brown eyes smiled up at you. "You must be the new lab tech."
"Yeah," you take the handshake she extended. "Y/N."
"Ziva David."
"Ziva is a Hebrew name, right?"
She nodded. Before you could say anything else, there was a yell from across the bullpen. "Ziver!!"
Your breath caught in your throat. That voice. It brought you back to 1990, stuck under 10 feet of sand, trying to claw your way out. You turned your head upwards. There he was. He hadn't noticed you as he breezed past you, barking orders at the agents. Ziva made her way down to autopsy and McGee was sent back down to the lab. Before you could turn around and follow him, Gibbs spoke up, still staring down at his computer
"Somethin' I can help you with.." He trailed off realizing he didn't know your name.
You could barely speak. He was older, sure, but he was the same man you had met when you started serving. "Sergeant Y/F/N Y/L/N. I'm Abby's new assistant. It's nice to see you again, Gunny." You said the last part quietly.
His head whipped up and his eyes went wide. "Y/N/N?" You remembered the first time he had called you that. "Come with me." He put down whatever he was doing, leaving his computer flashing some message. "Now." He stomped towards the elevator and you followed. As soon as the doors shut, he flicked the switch on the wall, shutting it down.
"Thought you died, Gunny." You were met with silence. "You got blown up and then never said a word."
"Could say the same 'bout you."
You shook your head. "I was never blown up."
"Thought you died," he clarified. "Sent you a letter after I was discharged."
"Where were you before that?" You tried not to sound angry, but you were. "Before you were discharged and after you were blown up? Where'd you go then?"
"Hospital. Coma for days."
Your face fell. "I didn't know."
"I know."
"How's your wife? Your daughter must be at least eighteen by now. Shannon and Kelly right?" He turned away, suddenly not able to meet your eyes. "Jethro?" Your stomach dropped. "What happened?" You whispered.
"Dead. Killed while I was overseas."
You felt tears forming for reasons you couldn't fathom. When you had met him, he had just married. All he talked about was how much he loved Shannon. And then when his daughter was born she was his everything. "I'm sorry," you whispered. You knew how he felt about apologies but you didn't know what else to say. "I didn't know." You found yourself saying the same phrase for at least the second time that conversation. You usually knew everything, it was part of your job, but now you just felt lost.
"I know." He shifted and put his hands in his pockets, leaning against the wall, clearly wanting to change the subject. "What 'bout you? Still with that one guy? What's his name.. Max?"
You smiled sadly and shook your head. "Broke it off as soon as I got back."
"Why? Always said ya' wanted ta' marry 'em."
"I did." You only had good feelings for him, he had been your best friend and your best lover, someone you wanted to spend the rest of your life with. "But I couldn't. I just… I felt like I wasn't being honest with him. It was kind of," you drifted off.
"Right person, wrong time?" you said at the same time.
"Yeah." You stood in the silence for a few moments, each of you just looking at the other. "Jethro are you seeing anyone right now? Better question, are you ready to see anyone?"
"No and depends."
"On what?"
"The person."
"Right."
"I'd be ready if it was you."
"Why didn't you try harder to find me? I mean, one letter Jethro. You're a man of few words but even that seemed scarce."
"What was I suppose' to do? Far as you knew I was married, far as I knew you were datin'. I married three times after her."
Your eyes went wide. "Three? Goodness Jethro, you always did gave game." You rolled your eyes at how stupid that sounded but went on. "Can I ask you something?"
"Jus' did."
You would have laughed if you weren't so shaky. It was like seeing a dead man walking. "All those years ago, if you hadn't been married to Shannon, would you have done something about how you felt about me?" It was no secret the feelings you both shared. During the war there would be brushed hands and gazes held longer than necessary, but you had both stayed loyal.
"Can't imagine that," he answered. "There bein' no Shannon, 's what I meant."
"Jethro, would you like to try again?"
"No."
You stopped. "What?" Had you totally misread the situation? Was he no longer the man you thought he was? Was he not in love with you anymore? "Did that coma go to your head or something?"
"Mhm. That's what they do." He reached towards you and you thought he was going to flick the elevator off but instead his hand came to rest on your back, pulling you in. "Don't wanna try again. Insinuates that I failed the fist time. Was right person, wrong time. Now it's right person, right time."
He pushed his lips against yours, gently, and all the doubt in your mind faded away. You let your tears fall as you held the man you had always loved, the one you gave up everything in hopes that somehow you would find your way back to him. And yet he was also the man that you had forgotten about, who simply sat as a torn photograph on your wall. He was nothing more than a memory of someone you had served with, and yet here he was. Flesh and bone and all the other good things that made up Leroy Jethro Gibbs.
You kissed him harder, a disgraceful noise being dragged from your throat as he pushed you up against the elevator door. "Y/N." He groaned, pushing his leg between your legs to hold himself up. You wanted to breathe but you wanted him more. Your hands worked their way down, pulling his shirt up, discarding it who knows where. At the same time, he worked on the buttons on your blouse. You had wanted this for so long and now finally, finally, it was coming true.
"I love you," you said sloppily. "Glad you're not dead.." The rest of your words were lost as he finally finished the buttons. Before he could rip your top off entirely, there was a ding from the elevator. You pulled away, just barely seeing the absolute love in Jethro's eyes before you realized you had been caught.
"Abs." Jethro breathed, stepping out of the big metal box with you on his arm. Your back must have nudged the lift back on during the very sexy make-out session. The button you had pressed just happened to be that for the lab.
Her eyes went between the two of you in rapid motion. "So I see you and Y/N have met.. I was just coming to talk to you about her."
"Yeah? Somethin' wrong with her? Seems like she gets the job done." He helped you do your buttons back up, leaving his coat still on the elevator, whichever floor it was going to.
"N-no, I just wanted to say.." She looked back at him. "She's amazing at what she does." There was a hint of a real smile on her face as she said it. "Whatever makes you happy, Gibbs."
"Hm. Know what'd make me happy right now?" He looked down at you, his blue eyes reminding you of the blue sky that broke through the tan desert. "I think McGee, DiNozzo and Ziva can finish this case up without me."
"You think?" You grinned up at him, trying to tear your eyes away from the small red mark you had made on his neck.
"I do." He clicked the elevator again, calling it back down. "Hope she's proved herself," Jethro said over his shoulder. You couldn't see it as his lips met yours again, but Abby smiled a real smile. Maybe this would be a good change from the CID.

who wants baby drivers
“I still cannot see anything! Colorful blobs are not helpful,” Doriane complains, accent thick on the O in blobs. “At least you have color,” Kimi says, glaring at the ceiling. Now that the silence is broken, it’s a free-for-all. They chatter, about new kids showing up (Lando has not met Chloe yet, which is clearly a glaring misstep on his part), or others Developing (Jak’s getting close now, apparently), or the milk that was definitely spoiled at breakfast Tuesday morning (he didn't have cereal that day, thankfully), as they work their way through mental mazes. Sometimes, too much concentration turns everything to dust in your hands. Talking’s a good distraction. Lando’s walked his own maze a thousand times, to no end. He’s still plenty happy to spend the evening making snarky comments. Even if he’s chugging water to try and stay awake. “I think it’s time for bed,” Ollie says. He looks wide awake. It’s not even 9pm. “What? No, it’s no—” Doriane’s protest is cut off by Abbi’s elbow. “I mean, wow. So sleepy.” Kimi fakes a loud yawn. Lando rolls his eyes, muffling his own very real yawn in his sleeve. He’ll take the out anyways. He hops off the desk and stretches, back cracking with a wince, and heads off to bed.

I love a good chance at redemption, but sometimes it requires a bit of an Isekai to make it work.
We have young adult Max Villareal (They/Them) from my second save file/world 2 who is an evil, jealous, self-absorbed mess of a sim. On the surface, they seem to be perfectly content with their life, but deep down they have a huge layer of self-loathing and a regret they've never spoken to a soul... a regret with a name: Lucas Munch.
(lots and lots of words under the cut - believe it or not, this is the condensed version of their story)
They admired Lucas and liked him more than they wanted to admit. While they entered into their teens with high self-confidence, the self-loathing was also there. They were tempted to try to shoot their shot with Lucas, but in the end decided not to. Lucas was a sweet, wholesome boy who enjoyed the outdoors and was loved by all. Max was... Max. Why would Lucas bother with them when he could do so much better? So they watched as the boy fell in love and eventually got married, but deep down they wish they had of tried even if it didn't work out.
In another world (Save file 1/world 1), Lucas Munch (They/Them) was just kind of existing. Life was rough to them, and a lot of their passion for things like gardening was gone. They had adored their world's Max ever since they were both children, and once the two came of age Lucas confessed their feelings. At first it seemed like things would be good, but a lot of Max's peers gave him grief for the relationship. As a result, Max became deeply closeted and hid his feelings and relationship. He treated Lucas poorly as well, but the young sim refused to let him go thinking that once they were out of school and away from the cliques, things would get better.
That chance never came. When Jacques Villareal died of old age, Max decided to go rogue as a criminal rather than joining the "career". The teen made the wrong person mad, and without the protection of Jacques and "family", he met a grisly and violent end. Not long afterwards, Lucas also lost his mother and witnessed the death of a partner of Gunther's. They coped the best way they could, and ended up in a relationship with an older sim.
A curious Casey Goth in world 1 miscast a Necrocall spell which resulted in ripping world 2's Max into her world. After she panicked and fled to report what happened to the sages, Max was distressed to find Von-Windenburg manor abandoned and in disrepair. Desperate for a familiar face, they went to the Munch family home. Gunther's husband directed them to Evergreen Harbor where Lucas was living with their partner, Wolfgang, and his partner.
After calming a VERY panicked Lucas down (thankfully, they were home alone or else Wolfgang would have greeted Max with his fists), they were able to explain what happened. Lucas figured this made as much sense as any of the other weird things that had happened in this world (Johnny Zest is a werewolf and Malcolm Landgraab was a vampire for a bit).
They've taken the time to rebuild/build their friendship and even built up a romance as well. For Max, it's the second chance they always wanted and are now doing their best to be a better sim. For Lucas, this Max was one that was actively working to be a good partner who wasn't ashamed of them and encouraged them to pursue their passions. Max's own love of gardening helped revitalize Lucas, and now the house features so many garden pots and planters both inside and out. Lucas also joined the botanist career!
Oh and Lucas' no good deadbeat older partner got ditched and beat up by Wolfgang (which is something he had been wanting to do for quite some time). >_>b
Now, in Max's world, they had been abducted by aliens once before... and now in this world they got abducted again! This time the abduction resulted in a little bouncing green girl named Abbie. Both the Watcher and Lucas were surprised to see the infant had blonde hair! Max and Lucas are both bonding well with their out of this world baby!
If you made it through all of that, then thank you for letting me info dump/gush at you for these two. <3

If the hints and speculation about Buck being (and coming out as) bi this season turn out to be true, I'd honestly be really happy to see it done well and done with respect. I am forever and always a Buddie girlie (gn), and of course I'd looove to see Buddie become canon, but whatever the outcome of Buck and Eddie, again I'll be so pleased to see a bi Buck storyline handled with care.
As far as we can even tell, Eddie for season 7 is and will still be written as straight (despite Ryan playing Eddie so beautifully and so so queer <3). And of course this can change down the road because if Buck is going to be bi and if this is received well by the audience, well then that paves an easier path to later make Eddie queer too.
I've seen talk about the hows and whys of why the show would need to "introduce" one of our presumably straight guys as not straight, and not doing both at the same time. *flaps hand* Like I get all that, and hopefully y'all are okay with me not expanding on that further, cause we all get why anyway, yeah? So okay.
One way in which I hope Buck being bi is done justice is that whoever his new love interest may be (plenty think it'll be Tommy) will be a character that the writers care about, and put actual effort into whoever he is. Because as it stands, the only love interests that got the most work (for Buck) were Abby and Taylor. Yes even Taylor. The biggest issue there was that we all had to suffer her for over a fucking year, but anywayyyy. Ali in season 2 was barely present, but she had some spunk to her I suppose. Natalia is barely a character, be honest. Just based on her actions we can only conclude that no actually, she and Buck should not date (and thankfully it seems Natalia will be gone very early season 7).
So really I'm truly hoping that the guy, whoever he is and however long he sticks around, is a decently well rounded and written character. Bonus is if the guy is someone I can like on his own. That would be great! Because to mention Buck's previous love interests again, to me 1) Abby was an interesting character, but I didn't like how she treated Buck, 2) Ali was fine but she was there and gone, 3) Taylor was a shitty person and girlfriend and dear god I hope she has no more appearances, and 4) Natalia is just kinda there and yet still clearly not a good match for Buck.
Part of what I'm trying to say with these comparisons I guess is that while I'm a Buddie girlie (gn) and will always prefer them over any other pairing, like damn it would be a wonderful change to have a love interest for Buck (and Eddie) that I actually like, y'know?
To briefly touch on Eddie's romantic pairings 1) Shannon was an interesting character, but I didn't like her, 2) Ana was nice I guess (though low key ableist) but so bland, and 3) Marisol isn't even a character at this point, lbr. So I'm kinda begging at this point to give these fellas a love interest that I can like. 🙃
I hope all of this made sense.

SICKOS.JPG YES....YES!!! imagine me slowly dripping blood onto the floor of ur inbox its uhhhhh rough out here. tolkien gateway save me. but u did excellent here are ur BONUS FIC COMPLETION AO3 WRAPPED QUESTIONS :D 6, 9, 18, 28, + bonus pick any question u really wanna answer >:)
abby i'm sending you all my power not just bc i'm about to go to sleep but bc i believe! in! you!
6. Favorite title you used
again you do this to me, the song lyric as titles user..... forcing me to choose between songs... it's actually my silver smile knows your honest mouth, because i came up with that one myself and i'm really really proud of it!!!!! it's not from a song or anything it's from my BRAIN!!
9. Favorite pairing you wrote for this year?
yeah this one goes to pikelan. it's always a real nostalgia trip to write about them and i had a lot of fun with it this year. second place is cass/courier because i am just so in love with my cass characterization and the courier is an OC so she benefits from my predisposition to love my OCs
18.The character that gave you the most trouble writing this year?
so, there's this overzealous watch captain in 2006's very relevant to my life this year The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. i wrote about hieronymus lex because he annoyed me so much that i wanted to give him a bad day personally. i had a lot of fun doing that with my deeply manipulative wizard OC alindra in polish every surface to a brilliant sheen, but then i wanted it to be from his perspective for some reason? so it was a challenge because i think he sucks but he would never think he sucks. still fun though and i like oblivion a lot so i might write more about it sometime. to me it simply does not matter when a game came out 👍
28. Favorite work you wrote this year?
this is the hardest question on this list in my opinion. it's kinda out of left field since i don't reread it very often but i think it's actually like flowers and blue skies, which is a. no way around it. it's a legally blonde fic set in a dungeons and dragons au. in the notes i literally say it has all the characterization of playing with paper dolls. i don't think it's the best thing i wrote this year by a longshot, but out of everything it was the most What I Wrote When I Needed To Write It. idk if that makes sense it's getting very late but it's like... this fic is summer 2023 to me in this weird trapped in amber way.
BONUS. 27. What do you listen to while writing?
i make fic playlists! it's one of the first things i do and then i just leave them looping as i write; i didn't used to link them or share them or anything but now if i think it's good enough i post it along with the fic :) probably 90% of the time i just put the playlist on and write for that fic. on rare occasions i just put a kind of chill background album on. for a few years i could only write to instrumentals but that has thankfully passed :)
#answering asks#ask game#thank you abby. i have crossed the finish line of my fic and now i MUST sleep but i am wishing you luck!!#the one i was writing was short and 'easy' and it sounds like.the one you're working on is really tough!! you can do it!!

Step by step, she continued to trudge through the sand. It wasn't easy in combat boots but she made it work. A few little stumbles here and there but her bottle remained unspilled which was more than some of them could say. Abby had no complaints at his suggestion. "You mean I get to shower and relax while you cook? Oh man, life is so tough. I don't know how I'll manage," she joked and laughed to herself. As much shit as she gave him, he really was quite the guy. She maybe wasn't the best at conveying her appreciation or how she felt but she figured he knew. He knew. Right? "Don't worry about the potatoes, I'll do them and you can hit the shower. I'll leave hot water for you." It was a very Abby way of showing her appreciation, but it was an attempt none the less. She was making an effort to the best of her ability.
As he stopped, she stopped too and set the cooler down a couple of feet back from the edge of the waterline. God it was beautiful. The sights, the sounds, the smells. She couldn't wait to get to it. Abby followed his lead and plopped herself down into the sand to begin to remove her boots as well. "Yeah?" she responded at his initial thoughts. Wasn't like anything prevented them from naming it. As far as she was concerned, this cove was for the taking and she didn't know many Fireflies that frequented it other than Owen which left it ripe for the taking (or naming in this case). His suggestion made her freeze up and cheeks flush but thankfully it was hot enough outside that her face already had a red tint to it. Otherwise she would have been busted. Abby resumed working at her laces and speaking with a casual tone. "I mean, it's a strong name. But it leaves out one of the best parts of it: its founder. It's gotta have both worlds in it. I dunno, like Seal's Cove, or something." She mumbled out the last part, not sure if it was a dumb suggestion or not. By no means did she want to assume but she figured seals had good meaning for the both of them if the aquarium was any indication.
Throughout his time working on the house, Owen kept thinking about Mel. How he had acted in those months after Jackson. The two of them trying to make their relationship work despite the obvious strain her pregnancy had put on it. It hadn’t been just that though. He’d felt stuck within the WLF and was so damn tired of it all. The fighting never stopped. And… Owen took his frustrations out on Mel. Treated her poorly when she did not deserve it. It was not the first time he experienced this sort of retrospection over the four years since Seattle and it wouldn’t be the last. He couldn’t stop himself from feeling a deep sense of guilt that Mel never got the chance to live in a real home, to live somewhere safe to raise their baby without all the WLF bullshit. They could’ve co-parented together. Made it work somehow. The house felt too empty once he was done his work and so inviting a close buddy to move in with him seemed like the ideal solution.
The look on Abby’s face, the one she wore whenever she was getting lost in her head, got him thinking about another project proposal. Something else they could work on together along with Lev’s fish tank. Something that she could share with the young man who had become not just Abby’s family but Owen’s as well. He wanted to make her happy, too. “Actually, you should take a shower first,” he replied, chuckling. “It’ll give me time to prepare whatever we catch and peel the potatoes.” Owen stopped near the shoreline and set his equipment down just out of reach of the lapping ocean waves. Then he looked to Abby with a warm smile. “I was thinking about naming this cove.” He started to unlace his boots and roll up his pants to knee level. “Never did name my boat so I figure I should make up for it. Any suggestions? What about… Abby’s Cove? I like that one.”

Abby stopped and stared at the beef in front of her for a moment, unsure.
Ben was coming over. Again.
It wasn't the first time he did it, he actually came over a lot recently, and they were... dating. Kinda. For a while. Actually, for a whole month now.
So when he called and said he was coming over, she wanted to make him something to eat, cause that was what people did when they were... dating.
"Here comes Soldier Boy and Crimson Countess right now!" the man on the TV announced, and she whipped her head around to see it.
Abby's heart squeezed tight in her chest when she saw the news showing their most recent story.
"We managed to catch some moments with America's favourite couple after their latest visit to the White House. Aren't they just perfect?"
The screen showed them just earlier that day, waving at reporters, before Soldier Boy dramatically pulled her into a kiss.
She knew she shouldn’t be jealous, it was just show business - she knew that too well.
When Abby was younger, it was all her mother spoke about when she told her she couldn’t date. She should focus on her career, having a boyfriend would just mean that’s all the media would care about her for, her relationships.
And yet, it stung. Very much so.
She couldn’t help but think that she could never, ever, be in that position with him, not even if they wanted it. People didn’t take it any kindly to miscegenation, the Supreme Court had just barely ruled the bans unconstitutional.
She couldn't help but imagine it, though.
Walking on the red carpet, him calling her his girlfriend and maybe secretly wanted to show that she was lovable enough to win the heart of America's hero.
A loud knock snapped her out of her thoughts and she jumped in surprised.
"Abby?" He was here? Already? She had barely had the pasta into the pan and she was still in her apron!
"On my way!"
She could lift cars ten times her weight but still struggled to get dinner ready in under an hour.
Abby tossed the apron off, thankfully for her quick thinking - she had done her make-up and changed into an outfit before starting to cook - and tossed the pasta into the pot quickly before rushing to the door, checking herself up before opening it.
Yep. She still looked better than Crimson.
Abby was a little surprised when she opened her door, and found him standing there in just… civilian clothes. It was the first time she saw him out of his uniform - aside from naked.
“Hey!” she greeted him. “Hi. Nice clothes!”
Ben smiled largely, opening his arms and showing off a little.
“This?” he asked. “I thought I could dress up for you.”
She smiled as he leaned closer to her, to kiss her lips. She bet Countess had never heard that.
“I was promised a dinner,” he purred, rubbing his nose on hers. “And maybe even dessert."
She giggled, but quickly remembered the boiling pot and the uncooked beef.
"Yes!" she shoved him back, and hurried into the kitchen. "You do take a seat, I already set up the dinner table for you."
"Maybe I should have called beforehand," she heard as he moved through the living room. "Is that wine?"
"Yeah!" she placed the best on the skilled. "And it's alright. I just... got my head in the clouds."
She hoped he didn't catch her in the blatant lie.
Ben thankfully didn't prod, more interested in the wine, and they fell into a comfortable silence as she cooked, humming a little old song to herself.
"Now that is a catchy tune," Ben noticed, surprising her with his presence in the kitchen.
"Oh," she flushed. "Yes. Kt was one of our chants back in my little league days."
One of the few nice things back from that time.
Ben frowned.
"You played baseball?"
She shook her head.
"No, no. It was The Little League of Heroes. I joined them when my powers first emerged."
More like her mother made her join it.
Ben looked very unsure.
"I'm sorry, what was the name?" he asked.
Abby smiled a little. Of course, he wouldn't know about it.
"It was for the non-white heroes," she explained. "For union and all."
"Oh," he spoke slowly, awkwardly.
She giggled.
"It's alright," Abby assured him. "We usually did community work and TV show appearances. We even had a special on Sesame Street once."
She tried not to cringe as she remembered her mother in her dressing room, telling her she couldn't ruin her makeup.
It was easier to wait for bruises to heal than to redo her makeup.
Her mother had very heavy hands.
"I bet you are so adorable," he teased her, arms suddenly wrapping around the waist. "Did you sign little show tunes all the time?"
She shrugged, trying to humble herself as she smiled.
"Singing, dancing, and some acting," she told him, heart beating out of her chest as he pushed her hair back to kiss her neck.
"Oh, a triple threat," he purred. "Maybe we have more in common than what I thought."
“Wait,” she turned to him. “You dance?”
Abby moved back quickly to turn the meat.
“You know, let me serve you and you tell me about this,” she pulled away, determined.
Ben barely ever talked about himself.
“It’s not much of a story,” he moved away from her. “Swept Jackie Kenny off her feet back in ‘62.”
She nodded along, seeing him smirk when she served his food.
“Not the only thing I did to her,” he chuckled under his breath.
Her face flushed at the statement.
"Ben!" she hit his arm, huffing.
"What?" he asked. "She was an easy piece. Not many women can resist me, you know?"
She rolled her eyes, not wanting to hear anything more.
“Yes, I’m sure,” she mumbled, angrily putting his plate down and sitting across from him.
Ben didn't look any happy.
"Oh, come on," he groaned. "You are acting just like Crimson."
Great, now she was being compared to both fucking Jackie Kennedy and Crimson Countess. And all for the other women who could not resist him.
"Can we just eat?" she snapped. "I worked hard on this dinner."
Ben tsked, clicking his tongue in displeasure, but complied, and they ate in silence as her thoughts brewed over her.
God, she couldn’t even take a little joke about his life. What kind of woman couldn’t take a joke about her boyfriend’s past?
Why would she be so worried about another woman catching his eye? It wasn’t like she could compare, anyway.
She wasn’t even that interesting, maybe he was just settling for someone unglamorous and that was why he was here.
Abby quickly took the plates away, and tried to keep her breath from hitching as she washed them. She was so pathetic, her mother was right.
She closed her eyes when he pressed his chest to her back.
"Baby doll, I didn't mean anything by it," he hummed, reaching and turning off the faucet, pulling her close.
"It's stupid," she mumbled. "I'm stupid."
"Hey, no," he turned her over, voice firm. "You are not."
She looked away, but Ben pulled her chin up.
"I shouldn't have brought it up, especially when you worked so hard to please me, all pretty," he told her, hands moving down her hips. "Who can think about Jackie when I got my own Marilyn right here?"
Her eyes shot up to his face. Marilyn.
"You didn't do it with her, right?" she asked. "Marilyn."
"What?" he asked. "No! Of course not."
She relaxed. Good. One last woman for her to worry about.
"You are my Marilyn," he smirked, rubbing his nose on hers.
She smiled a little, and he pulled her along.
"I think this is a good moment for me to mention my surprise for you," he told her, sitting down and taking her to stand in front of him.
"Surprise?"
What surprise?
"You are amazing," he told her. "People shouldn't remember you as just a kiddie hero, you are a real hero. So I pulled some strings and now you are performing on the Tonight Show."
Her eyes widened.
She what now?
"Ben!" she gasped. "You can't be serious."
He smiled.
"Would I ever lie to you?"
She watched his face for a moment, shocked, processing it, and threw herself in his arms when she realised what it meant.
"Oh, Ben!" she squealed. "This is incredible."
He laughed as he held her.
"There's that smile!'
She was so overjoyed she didn't even think about the words that left her mouth.
"I love you, you are so incredible!" she beamed, kissing him before even realising what she had just said.
Abby pulled away the moment she came to her senses, finding his eyes wide in shock.
"Oh my God," she stuttered. "I didn't mean-"
Before she could finish, he pulled her right back into a passionate kiss.
He manhandled her onto the table without any effort, and she gasped when he pushed her skirt up.
"I think I can have my dessert now," he decided.
Ben devoured her, licking and eating her out hungrily, knowing too well how to give her pleasure.
"Ben," she cried, arching her body to him.
He was always so good, always made her cum so quickly.
She was already on the edge.
And suddenly, his mouth was gone.
"Ben!" she whined, moving to sit up, but he held her down.
"Say it again," he huffed.
She blinked, confused, mind a little too foggy to understand him for a moment.
"What?"
"Say it again!" he growled.
Abby thought for a moment.
Oh.
"I love you," she exhaled.
He looked at her, as if expecting her to falter, but she didn't.
"I love you, Ben," she affirmed, firmly. "I know it is too soon, but you are the only man who ever made me feel like this. The one man who ever..." the only one who showed her he cared, she thought, but couldn't say it. "I love you."
No one had ever loved her the way he did, even if he didn't say that.
He broke their exchange of looks by putting his head between her legs, moving back to eat her out even more passionately, until she was crying and shaking and cumming.
After she finished, Abby sat up and grabbed his face, kissing him hungrily and crawling out of the table, kneeling between his legs and looking up at his face.
"I love you," she repeated, opening his pants. "I love you."
He moaned as she unbuttoned his pants and pulled his cock out. It was so big and thick, she sometimes wondered how she fit it inside her cunt before.
She took the head first into her mouth, moaning as she did so, looking up to see him watching her closely.
Ben's eyes followed her as she slowly swallowed his cock down, licking the skin, stretching her mouth around his thick cock, and he moved his hand to her hair, pushing his fingers into her curls.
"There you go," he groaned. "Good girl, taking her daddy's cock."
Her fave burned at the new nickname, taking more of him until her nose rested against his crotch, touching his trimmed hair.
“You like that, pretty girl?” he grunted. “Taking my cock so damn good, just wanna-”
He pushed all the way into her throat, as deep as his cock could go, and Abby fought her gagging reflex, feeling her eyes tearing u and she took it was well as she could as Ben started fucking her throat.
"Love this mouth, so fucking good for me," he moaned. "All mine, my pretty girl."
Abby felt so full as he fucked her mouth. She never wanted to be anywhere else, just with him. Ben, her Ben.
His balls rested under her chin as he pulled her down again, and she reached her hands down, tenderly stroking them, making him quiver.
"Fuck," he chocked up, and she knew he was closer.
She pulled her mouth away from him slowly, and he grunted, almost pushing her back before she started using her hand to stroke him.
"Cum for me, Ben," she asked, boldly. "I want to feel you cum down my throat."
She took him in her mouth again, swallowing him down and actively sucking his dick, determined to make him peak.
It didn't take long, and he came calling her name, and Abby could feel the rush of his seed down her throat, eagerly swallowing.
She pulled away when he was done, and crawled back into his lap, quickly being embraced.
"Maybe we should head back to your bed," he chuckled. "Or not. I wouldn't mind christening this whole place."
She flushed, hiding her face in the crook of his neck.
"Ben," she spoke softly. "You... you didn't say it."
He caressed her back slowly.
"What?"
"When I said I love you, you... you didn't..."
She cringed at herself. Why couldn't she just enjoy what she had? He was already with her, why did she have to threaten that with stupid questions?
"Yeah," he moved, uncomfortable. "Right..."
Her heart picked up the pace, and she tried not to panic.
"It's alright," she said quickly. "You don't have to-"
"No, you are right," he interrupted her, sounding genuinely conflicted. "I should say it. It's just... I'm a man, we are not... the feeling type. It's not easy to say that shit."
Abby nodded, along, not even looking at his face, a little too embarrassed.
“It’s fine” she was quick to reassure him. “You’ve already done so much for me I shouldn’t ask for too much.”
Ben moved, and pulled her back gently, caressing her jaw and making her look at his face.
“You are a wonder, baby doll," he affirmed, eyes full of something she couldn't quite read. "I don’t know many other people like you. Everyone is always out for themselves but you’re just... you.”
She flushed at the praise, warm on the face, and kissed him slowly.
“Can you stay tonight?" she asked, hesitant. "Please?”
He always left. Ben had never stayed past morning.
"Of course, baby," he kissed her temple. "But first..."
He picked her up, and she grabbed his shoulder to level up.
"Let's do something more than sleeping now."
