Prompt 3 - Frostbite

Remus woke up to a blanket of snow. He looked out of the dormitory window and sighed at the beautiful sight. No one had ventured outside yet, and even the local creatures had left the sloping grounds untouched. The snow would be completely rucked up by lunchtime as there was no way a snowball fight wasn’t happening, probably started by him and his friends. 

He heard movement behind him and the soft pad of Sirius’s feet across the wooden floorboards and stopped just beside him. 

“Wow,” Sirius breathed, his warm breath fogging up the glass. “Get dressed, Moony, we’re going to go build a snowman,” Sirius clapped him on the shoulder as he turned back to his bed to get dressed. “Don’t forget your gloves, don’t want you to get frostbite,” Remus rolled his eyes at him but was excited to get outside, so he got dressed quickly and grabbed his gloves before chasing Sirius all the way down to the grounds. 

Remus ran after Sirius through the entrance doors and was hit by the silence and stillness that fresh snow brings. He was pulled out of his revive by a snowball to the face. Oh, it was so on.

Nico's hair puffs up into the air as the snowball collides with him, the rest of him knocking to the side as well with the sudden impact. At least whatever hit him isn't too solid, made of firmly packed snow rather than hard ice. He's been hit with an ice ball before, and once was enough, thanks.

Still, it surprised him. "Hey!" Nico snaps, glancing around frantically for who might have lobbed the snow at him-- only to stop and gape in surprise when he sees the specter. "What--how did you do that?"

now THIS guy looks like he needs to lighten up- who's funeral is it anyways?? just casually perching on his staff, he manipulates the frost into a nice, solid snowball.

—BAM. right in the skull with a snowy explosion! yet another unsuspecting victim, good job jack. thank you jack. he's shaking his own hand for a job well done.

The way people are complaining that jinx isn’t the same character this season because she’s “sane” (aka not actively having an episode of psychosis, even though she literally did experience a hallucination when seeing vi with the enforcers), is strange.

also I find it strange that people talk about jinx and powder as if they’re separate people. they aren’t. jinx is powder, grown up and traumatized and mentally ill. like i completely understand that jinx likely struggles to realize this, because extremes are often the stable of bpd and she shows all the signs, and well—a personality disorder is a personality disorder.

but no jinx did not kill powder and taint her memory. powder is not gone. jinx can not exist without powder, and vice versa—because they are eachother. that’s what vi needs to realize and accept as well—her sister is not gone.

her sister just grew up and changed and is traumatized and mentally ill. it’s impossible for jinx to kill powder, or for powder to “come back,” the exact same she was. vi could never have powder back because the powder vi remembers was a scared, helpless little girl who depended on her for almost everything. powder was never going to remain that way forever—not if she wanted to survive.

powder has grown up and changed without her. that was always going to happen, it happens to everyone. if nothing happened as it did, their family was still alive, vi was never thrown in jail and powder never taken in by silco; powder still would’ve changed, somehow, someway. She’d likely still just be going by powder rather than jinx.

something i dislike about baldur’s gate is that i have to take the characters on a trip for there to be snow. i want them to walk through the snowy winter streets in the night. but no. they’ll have to go north for that shit. smh.
