I Want You Around - Snoh Aalegra
"I Want You Around," is a single from Snoh Aalegra's 2019 album, Ugh, Those Feels Again. I recently just got introduced to this artist from my brother and I like her sound quite a bit. This is a pretty chill song that is reminiscent of how one feels when they meet someone they really like and just want to spend every single minute of the day together. From the music video, it seems like a summer romance situation, where you just want to be in each other's company without necessarily any expectations, just being. Although the music video gives a sentimental feel, it's not all that interesting. You all know I love a good storyline. This project is the first I have heard of her and it's a good impression so I'll probably check out some more of her music!

It’s been over a thousand days since August 8, 2019.
That was the debut of my last formal mixtape: Dealing with Distractions. Who knew 218 days later we would be in full lockdown mode?
That’s the biggest reason I was on a mixtape hiatus: Quarantine Vibes and Quarantine Fridays took the place of a properly themed mixtape.
Mixtapes take time. They take inspiration, too.
GOOD THING I’M GOING THROUGH SOME SHIT RIGHT NOW.
I made the decision to leave my teaching profession in late February and wrote about all that here: meet ej - the idealist.
I prepared as much as I could for this moment.
Nevertheless, the pressure is mounting as May winds down and I still haven’t honed in on exactly what I want to do next.
I’m simply trusting my principles to how I got here in the first place.
And with that, I’ll leave the theme of the mixtape somewhat cryptic with that description.
Enjoy!

Snoh Aalegra’s “Situationship”
On August 2nd, Snoh Aalegra released her fourth single ‘Situationship’ from her upcoming and anticipated album, ‘- Ugh, Those Feels Again.’
‘Situationship’ is Aalegra’s most upbeat song out of the four other singles released. It has a tropical, jazzy, and dreamy feel to it - not unusual for Aalegra’s sound. The most accurate way to describe her music is that it almost feels like a classic r&b song remixed into a modern style. The song’s lyrics describe a complicated relationship, something almost but not quite. Aalegra’s voice feels timeless in all her music; and the vocals in this song aren’t any different.
Snoh Aalegra’s second album, - Ugh Those Feels Again will be released on August 16, 2019.
Listen to ‘Situationship’ now

Tobias Forge: People want to see a show
PLEASURE
The hard rock band Ghost, led by singer and songwriter Tobias Forge, receives the government's music export award for 2019, a year when Ghost performed on 137 stages worldwide.
- It should definitely be up on the wall, says Forge about the award.
Ghost engaged in music exports in the literal sense of the word during the "A pale tour named death" tour that followed the album "Prequelle" and which ran from autumn 2018 to March this year. When the pyrotechnic smoke subsided and the last hellish guitar riffs echoed out, 137 gigs in North America, Europe, Japan and Australia were cut.
It is precisely the desire to tour and show off, especially in the US, that is a big part of Ghost's recipe for success, says Tobias Forge.
What happens if the situation does not return to "normal", that music can be played in front of a large audience, in the foreseeable future he does not want to speculate.
- We have played with the idea of perhaps playing in a smaller context if it is an alternative. But my purpose in playing live with Ghost is not to do it at any price, because that's not what people want to see. People want to see a show, he says.
- It's not just that I show up and it's done, quite the opposite.
"Maybe not to participate"
The idea was that Ghost would hit the road again in March next year. Those plans have been postponed until the autumn of 2021, but a new album will be released this winter. But no matter how much the 2020 dramaturgy overlaps with classic Ghost themes such as death, mass hysteria and catastrophes of biblical proportions, Tobias Forge has not drawn much inspiration from his time when he wrote the new songs.
- I have already made an album about God's wrath and doomsday, even if "Prequelle" was not about just infection from a medical perspective. But I have a feeling that there will be plenty of doomsday and quarantine-confirming records in the future, and I think I may not participate in it, he says.
Over the years, Tobias Forge has worn various scenalias, most recently a creation called Cardinal Copia which at the end of the "A pale tour named death" tour rose in the ranks of Ghost's unholy church and was titled Papa Emeritus IV.
TT: How does Papa Emeritus IV view now having the support of both Satan and the state?
- I may forward the question, but I assume that he is satisfied with it, says Forge.
Founded in 1997
The Music Export Prize was established in 1997 and is awarded every year to Swedes who have achieved international success and contributed to a positive image of Sweden abroad. This year's dividend was supposed to have taken place on March 25, but was postponed due to the corona pandemic.
In addition to Ghost, Robyn, Håkan Hardenberger, Smith & Thell and Snoh Aalegra were also nominated. In addition, the record company veteran Marie Dimberg was awarded the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' honorary prize for her efforts for Swedish music abroad.
