Conserve Water; Shower in Pairs
description: reiner joins your shower
pairing: reiner x you, reiner x fem!reader (reiner braun, aot/snk)
smutttttttyyy
You were startled when the door opened, some water droplets flaking off you from the sudden jolt. “Reiner?” you called out to the steamy bathroom air, holding your breath.
“Yes, love?” Reiner hummed, his soothing voice immediately settling the uneasiness in your stomach. You relaxed and continued rubbing the soap suds into your upper arms.
You exhaled deeply, smiling. “Nothing, just making sure it was you.”
He hummed in response and continued shuffling behind the curtain. Then the curtain was pulled to the side, exposing half the tub. Water droplets bounced off the side of the tub and splattered into daughter droplets, scattering across the tile.
Your body shivered from the cold air, from the steam rapidly escaping into the room. “Reiner!” you called, the surprise flooding your voice as he stepped inside.
You swallowed heavily when you peered over to where he was standing, where he was entering the tub, naked. His broad chest and shoulders blocked the light, casting a cool shadow over your wet-hot skin.
“What?” he asked innocently, closing the curtain behind him, the muscles in his arm poking out, steam rolling over the strong tissue. “You always say we need to conserve water.”
The blood rushed to your cheeks and, from the smug smirk plastered on Reiner’s face, you knew the blush was visible. Your skin was hot, exposed to hot water and hot air and the body heat radiating from just how close he was to you.
The water pounded at your back as he shrugged, his bare shoulders rounded, his chest expanding, his biceps flexing, the veins in his wrists popping out. You could feel yourself salivate, could feel the additional heat of him staring at you, thriving at your blatant adoration.
“Besides,” he continued before you could speak, snaking his arms around your hips and pulling you closer. You gasped and your eyes widened as you felt his half-hard cock against your hip. “It’s not like we haven’t seen each other naked before.” He tilted his neck down and brought his hand to your chin, raising your head to meet his. “That’s why I need to shower,” he whispered.
He kissed you mid-breath, leaving you partly dizzy as his lips slid against yours, as his saliva swirled with yours.
Reiner's hands were gliding down your back, the stimulating sensation multiplied by the steady stream of hot water, light streams following the natural curve in your spine, collecting on large, scarred hands.
His lips moved to your ear, lightly taking the lobe into his mouth, between his teeth. "Mind if I take the water?"
By that you knew he meant switch spots under the showerhead.
You pulled away and made eye contact. "Let me just move out of the way," you said flirtily, bending your knees. You knelt down until your knees touched the tub floor, eye level with the deep, defined V, like an arrow marking his strong erection.
His blue eyes twinkled with awe at the bold maneuver, the sky-blue quickly disappearing behind tight eyelids as the palm of your hand lightly pressed to the side of his upright shaft, neatly wrapping your fingers around the thick girth.
"Ahh," Reiner moaned, tilting his head back, as you engulfed the thick tip into your mouth, wrapped it around your tongue. You pushed further a few more inches before pulling back, mimicking the same motion with your hand. "Oh, baby, that feels so good."
His hips rocked into your mouth and you released your grip, moving both of your hands to his built thighs, watching the water droplets trace the muscle flexion in your peripheral.
"Oh, fuck," Reiner groaned as his hips sped up, a few more inches entering your mouth, the tip pounding into the back. Your fingernails dug into his thighs, sure to leave slight red and purple indents in his clean skin.
Then he rapidly pulled off, gasping for air, his hand immediately reaching for his cock. "Please, baby, let me--" Your hand joining his on his cock, quickly following his rhythm, sucked the air from his lungs, making his heart beat speed up.
"Yeah, yeah, you can come on my tits," you answered his question, chuckling lightly because it was just a little funny, how desperately he always wanted to, how excited he became whenever you said yes.
Your hand lazily joined his while your mouth nipped at the skin near his hips, smiling and sucking in air as soon as a hot viscous fluid touched your sensitive skin, as soon as you heard Reiner moan out your name.
As you stood up, both of you reached to wipe the fluid off your chest, Reiner's method being to cup your breasts and scoop it up.
"You just want to feel me up," you laughed, moaning softly as his palms slid across your now lubricated nipples.
"God, yes," he moaned out in agreement, "I find you beyond sexy." Two fingers pinched your nipple. The other hand lightly traced down your side. He moved onto his knees, lowering you with him, the water now falling against the back of the tub.
Reiner knelt over you until you were sitting down with your back was against the cool tub. He kissed you quickly before traveling down your stomach, fondling both breasts as his lips kissed in a straight line.
His hands held onto the undersides of your soft thighs and squeezed, lifting you off the tub floor. Your legs scrambled for footing as Reiner tucked his nose between your legs, his tongue quickly retracing the same pattern that made you scream last night.
The noise of the water hitting the back tub drowned out the noise of Reiner hungrily lapping and sucking on your clit, occasionally biting your uppermost thigh to hear the sharp squeal that left your lips.
He loved that the most, the noises you'd make. It was fun, finding out what made you squeal versus moan, gasp versus scream, inhale versus airless panting.
As he confidently flicked his tongue and removed one hand, supporting you with just one arm as the other hand joined his tongue, listening to the breathless pleas for more, he promised himself he'd learn them all during your lifetime together.

Terra my love 💚
So many questions about your WIP post it note 😜
(remember the post was actually a WIP ask game, right?)
1. Is the whole story planned with chapter structure etc... or even partly written already?
2. If you already know, how many chapters will there be for this fic?
3. Will they kiss? & more importantly will they fuck? /jk
4. What other SNK characters will appear throughout the fic?
5. May I ask for a sneak peek? (because there was no "WIP it Wednesday" post yesterday 😢)
Could be from the next chapter or another random chapter, I'm so in love with this fic & in love with your writing style & greedy that I'll take any crumbs 🤲 🧎🏻‍♀️
Love you lots & even more 💚
Val! Thanks for sending these questions. I'm always so excited to talk about what I'm working on! I think A Sunrise Without You Is Coming will probably be my longest (and last) fic.
1. Is the whole story planned with chapter structure etc... or even partly written already? The whole fic is planned from start to finish :)
2. If you already know, how many chapters will there be for this fic? I planned 25 chapter outlines originally but ch3 ended up being longer than I thought once I had written it. I had to snip it off part way through. This might happen again so let's guess somewhere between 26 and 30 chapters in total.
3. Will they kiss? & more importantly will they fuck? /jk Honestly, I haven't included anything more than pining and eye fucking in my ch outlines! To give the story an authentic feel, I'm going to feel my way through their relationship as it grows. If the moment seems right, I'll take things to the next level ;)
4. What other SNK characters will appear throughout the fic? Apart from OG Levi Squad, Moblit, Nifa and Nile... you can expect to see Miche, Marlo and Floch very shortly. In future chapters we will also be joined by Hitch, Reiner, Erwin, Zeke, and Kenny.
5. May I ask for a sneak peek? (because there was no "WIP it Wednesday" post yesterday 😢) I have skimped out on the WIP It Wednesdays, huh? Fair's fair. Let's have a sneak peek then:
From ch4: I'll Not Speak A Word Despite a lingering chill and the last vestiges of afternoon light, the folk of Shiganshina were still leisurely browsing the marketplace. At the centre of the military village, where the earth roads converged, stood three avenues of unembellished stalls, each exhibiting their wares.
Levi walked amongst civilians, hesitating as he drew level with a metal rack of women’s clothing. Inconspicuously, he cast his eyes around, before approaching.
Thick woollen cardigans hung amongst long floral-patterned skirts. Levi peeled back a knitted sleeve. Then, with growing impatience, he swept past one garment after another.
“Hello? Are you looking for anything in particular?” asked the proprietor, a woman with dark hair pulled back into a low ponytail. At her intrusion, Levi quickly withdrew his hand.
With a final sweep of the area around them, Levi inclined his head as though he were about to mutter his response. He opened his mouth. He closed it again.
“This is part of our Fall Range…” The woman lifted a yellow button-down shirt, smoothing the material. “You know this is what they’re all wearing on the continent.”
She crooked a finger, beckoning him closer. With an expression of resignation, Levi obliged her.
“...I saw pictures in a Marleyan magazine once,” the proprietor boasted.
Levi nodded, uncomprehending, as the woman seized a peasant skirt to tempt him with next. The pocket of his khaki military coat vibrated. Thankful for the interruption, Levi removed his cell phone.
“I’ll take them all,” Levi indicated the entire rack with his hand. Flipping his phone open, he held the device up to his ear.
“What size is she, sir?”
Levi hesitated again, his palm covering the mouthpiece.
“She’s… tall.” Turning away he answered in a low voice. “Miche?”
Delighted, the woman began bagging the clothes up.
“Levi,” came the Section Commander’s voice on the line, “I still haven’t been able to reach Erwin.”
“Sir, will you be needing underwear?”
The woman slowly pulled back the navy blue cloth which covered the stall, unveiling a low shelf of bras in different colours. Some were frilled and elaborate, others dark and lacy. Some contained padding, wired supports and front clasps. Others were elastic, unfilled or entirely strapless it seemed.
Levi made a small noise in the back of his throat.
“Levi?” came Miche’s voice.
Covering his cell phone once more, Levi glanced at the proprietor.
“I’ll… take all of those too.”
On the other end of the line, Miche gave an impatient sniff.
“Look, whether Erwin’s off having breakfast or the world’s longest shit, this can’t wait,” Levi hissed, “the MPs seized a vehicle of defectors right outside our base. How can he have nothing to say about that?”
“Which size is she, sir?” The woman held up a large, padded bra helpfully.
Levi stared determinedly past her, over to where smoke rose from red brick chimneys.
“...any,” he replied faintly, lips barely moving. He blinked. Cleared his throat.
“You didn’t hear about the traffic incident?” Miche continued, “happened last night on the central road to Mitras.”
“The one where the pedestrian was killed?” Levi turned away from the proprietor who was now tucking numerous bras into another bag. “They found a woman’s body according to a member of my squad.”
“Worse,” Miche countered, “the vehicle that struck her was being driven by two MPs. Skidded right off the road. I’m sorry, Levi. Every one of those defectors was killed.”
(Thanks again for your questions, Val!)

Opinion About Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves Having an English Dub. Will People Use It?
So the newest, upcoming fighting game installment by SNK is gonna bring back the Fatal Fury series, Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves. And get this, the game is gonna have an English dub!
Tumblr media
Exciting?
Well, I say “Exciting?” because I’m not even sure if people are gonna play the game with English voice acting, they might instead play the game in Japanese. The likeliest reason why anyone would want to do this is probably because they’ll think the Japanese dub has better voice acting. This would concern me a little bit, because if I watch people’s videos of the game on YouTube, a majority might prefer to play the game in Japanese and not English.
Now before I explain why this would concern me, what I want to talk about first are the past fighting games SNK made 20 years ago. I’m of course talking about KOF: Maximum Impact. It was a spinoff game that brought The King of Fighters to the 3D fighting game genre, and get this, it has an English dub.
Tumblr media
Or rather, a really bad English dub, as in, either no one knows who the voice actors are, what other work they’ve done, or they’re not professional voice actors who have dubbed anime by Funimation. It was the mid 2000s, and at the time, not every Japanese video game series got to cast professional voice actors in the dubbing business. This playlist should suffice as evidence if you want to check out some character playthroughs of the game.
I will say that while there is some positive reception with Maximum Impact (like in the 7/10 range) the game’s bad English dub is probably the reason why no one would want to play it. If I remember right, in IGN’s review of the game, they described the English dub as “piss poor”. And worst of all, the PlayStation 2 version of the game doesn’t have the option to switch between English and Japanese dubs, although the Xbox version has this issue resolved. So if you went to a store that sells used video games and wanted to try out Maximum Impact (if they have a copy) I’d recommend playing the Xbox version if you don’t want to deal with its bad English dub.
SNK even ended up making a sequel, KOF: Maximum Impact 2, although the localized version is titled as The King of Fighters 2006, which is weird since 2006 was when The King of Fighters XI came out on console. SNK even made a third game, KOF: Maximum Impact Regulation A, which was released in Japan only. My guess is that because the first two games had bad English dubs, SNK probably figured that Regulation A wouldn’t sell good outside Japan.
But it doesn’t end there, well, maybe for Maximum Impact. In 2009, SNK released The King of Fighters XII, and I’m sure not many people know this, but the game does have an English dub!
But there is a problem. While the voice acting in KOF XII is better than Maximum Impact, the game doesn’t credit which voice actor voices which. The game now remains as probably one of the most underrated installments in the series, seeing as how the game can be seen as sort of a beta version of what The King of Fighters XIII would be like. I’m not sure if there was a majority of gamers playing the game in Japanese, but from my experience, I chose to play the game in Japanese out of concern that the game’s English dub would be just a lame as Maximum Impact.
The King of Fighters XII ended up being the last game in the series to try out an English dub. When The King of Fighters XIII came out in 2011, that game didn’t bring back the English voice actors from KOF XII, whoever they were. Interestingly enough, it’s one of two KOF games (the other being KOF XIV) where Atlus got localization rights (I think) and even though they’ve made English dubs for some of their own games (e.g. Persona) I’m guessing Atlus chose not to give KOF XIII & XIV English dubs. Or it could’ve been SNK’s decision, thinking back to the bad English dubs the Maximum Impact games had, they probably couldn’t afford to hire professional dubbing voice actors.
For this new Fatal Fury game, Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, it does look like this is SNK’s first try to cast professional dubbing voice actors. Unfortunately for me, I don’t know who they are, and I’m too lazy to even look them up. I mean, my generation of dubbing voice actors might be different, so I doubt this game is gonna cast any voice actors I’m familiar with. For all I know, my favorite voice actors are probably retired at this point.
But now I want to talk about why it concerns me that a majority might prefer the Japanese dub over the English dub.
It’s silly I know, but I’m actually worried that people would think the game doesn’t have an English dub if a majority play the game in Japanese. Then again, with all the English trailers, I’m sure people will know the game has an English dub, but I’m worried that people won’t actually care for the English dub, no matter how famous the voice actors are (if they’re famous).
And it’s more than just thinking back to the bad English dubs the Maximum Impact games had, if anyone today remembers those games. I remember 9 years ago when Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN- came out. A lot of people were playing that game in Japanese despite the game having an English dub with professional anime voice actors. Back when I used to be a Guilty Gear fan, I did play this game in Japanese, thinking that maybe Aksys Games didn’t have the funds to hire professional voice actors like with SNK. But it’s only until a few months back I got to learn a little more about Aksys Games, namely the fact that they originally localized the Zero Escape series by Spike Chunsoft, and that series has the same kind of voice actors from Spike Chunsoft’s more familiar series, Danganronpa, and they’re the same kind of voice actors used in the Guilty Gear Xrd games.
I ended up learning a year after Xrd -SIGN- came out that the game has, well, I’ll try not to say it multiple times. I found out for example that Tara Platt ended up voicing both Millia Rage and I-No in the game, which surprised me since, at the time, I knew her as the original English voice actress for Vert in the Neptunia series (before being replaced by Carrie Keranen) and in that series, there were plenty of familiar voice actors to me and lots of people were playing that series in English. Vert is my favorite Neptunia girl, and back when I was a fan of Guilty Gear, Millia was my favorite, so I guess it was like… destiny or fate? Or maybe just a big coincidence? Despite this, it did bother me a little to see a majority play Guilty Gear in Japanese and not English.
But Guilty Gear aside, I’m not sure if other Japanese fighting games like Street Fighter and Blazblue are like this too, where there’s a majority of gamers playing them in Japanese despite these games having, again, professional dubbing/anime voice actors. When I did try out Street Fighter IV and the first Blazblue game, I chose to play them in Japanese. But I’ll admit that I’m not a fan of either of these games, I thought Guilty Gear was cooler looking than Blazblue, and Street Fighter IV felt like a piece of shit game (but that’s a different story for a different time). I will say that I do see a lot of people play Soul Calibur in English (myself included) but I’m not so sure about those other games.
As an aside, in the 90s, there were anime movies based on the Fatal Fury series, and they got to have English dubs made by Viz Media (the same people who made the English dubs for Bleach and Inuyasha) and they do have some pretty good voice actors. For example, I remember reading that they casted David Kaye to voice Kim Kaphwan (surprisingly, I know him as the voice of Clank in the Ratchet & Clank series). If Kim does return for this new Fatal Fury game, I highly doubt SNK is gonna recast David Kaye to voice him.
I mean, I can’t say for certain if the Fatal Fury anime films were any good, I’m not one for anime reviews, and this is a 90s anime we’re talking about. There’s also an OVA based on Art of Fighting, but it wasn’t that good despite having an English dub too.
I’ll admit that there are some games where I’ve chosen to play them in Japanese despite the opposite, where a majority might prefer to play them in English.
For example, I play Breath of the Wild, Tears of the Kingdom, and even Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity in Japanese, but a majority seem to prefer to play them in English. It’s not that I think the English dubs are bad, though I admit that I’m not big on Princess Zelda having a British accent or Matt Mercer voicing both Rauru and Ganondorf (I think Jamieson Price would’ve been a great casting choice for Ganondorf) but they’re one of those games where the lip sync during cutscenes is based on the Japanese dub. That, and I only know a few of the voice actors, more specifically, I only know that Kate Higgins voiced Purah, and Cherami Leigh voiced Riju. Another example is Dynasty Warriors 9, I play that game in Japanese since the English dub didn’t recast the original voice actors from the other games and the English dub is, well, just as bad as Maximum Impact I guess.
So with the upcoming Fatal Fury game, how are people gonna play the game voice acting wise? Will they actually try out the English dub to see if their favorite characters are voiced by their favorite voice actors, or will they stick with the Japanese dub thinking that the English dub might have some lame voice lines or bad translations like with Maximum Impact. In my case, I’m curious to try out the English dub. It’s the first time in 15 years since SNK gave one of their games an English dub, and it looks like this game is gonna have some very professional voice actors. I highly doubt I’ll recognize any of them, but I’ll still play the game in English to see if I’ll like it.
I hope I made some sense with this blog, and I apologize for how long it is if you made it this far.

fic writer interview!
Snagging from @definitelynotshouting because I loooove talking about my fics lol
How many works do you have on AO3?
between my two accounts and including all my anonymous fics, i have published 115 fics since 2014. if we're only counting ones visible on the residenthesitant and hesitantresident pseuds, 58.
What's your total AO3 word count?
Again, counting both accounts, it's 630,517 words total. On RH alone, a whopping 498,925. jesus christ. i did not think it was that much.
What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
With the ones just on RH/HR, they are:
Look at the World So Close (And I'm Halfway To It) (DSMP) - 1,777 kudos
Like Begets Like (DSMP) - 405 kudos
END PRINCE LEARNS TO BE NICE (NOT CLICKBAIT) (OSMP) - 314 kudos
That Bitch is Back (& We're Gonna Have A Chat) (DSMP) - 258 kudos
Static (Danger Days: True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys) - 219 kudos
honestly, im kinda surprised by this one. i fully thought there'd be at least one of my anon fics in here. wild.
rest of this is under the cut!
Do you respond to comments?
I try to respond to comments, but have had difficulty in the past. most often i do because i want to talk about behind the scenes stuff.
What's the happiest ending you've written?
I prefer happy/bittersweet endings,  but I think my happiest is world so close, since it basically has a fairy-tale happily ever after to it.
Do you write crossovers?
Nah. I'll do AUs, and maybe there's some crossover due to the nature of the MCYT fandom, but I largely keep characters in their own casts. It feels weird to put them elsewhere.
Have you ever received hate on a fic?
No, but someone did delete a nice comment once, which was kinda weird lol
Do you write smut? What kind?
i did kinktober last year! if "toxic fucked up manipulative puppetduo sex" is what this means by "kind," thats generally what i do. i uh. i wrote 1/3rd of the fics in that tag. so.
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not officially, but I joke that the writers of the Homestuck Epilogues stole part of one of my fics to write about how dirk felt about his own death. The fact that they read exactly the same means that I Understand the character ig.
Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Yes! World So Close started a collaboration with my beloved friend Jinx but largely fell to me when they got too busy. I also have a couple Frantic Fanfic collabs and a co-written zine piece coming up.
What's your all-time favorite ship?
Very hard question. I don't think I have an All Time Favorite out of all the fandoms I've been in, but if we go by fav per fandom, they'd have to be dirkjake (homestuck), a rotating selection of c!eret ships though I am extremely fond (understatement) of dreameret (dsmp), shadowgast (critical role: mighty nein), zoethian (yogscast), and a PC/PC romance from my dnd game.
What's a WIP you want to finish but don't think you ever will?
sighs. For Every Failing Sun. it says its marked as complete because i have the rest of the plot in not!fic form, but the fact of the matter is that i dont think i'm gonna get around to completing it unless the danger days hyperfixation grabs me again.
What are your writing strengths?
Dialogue all the way. if i dont have a character voice right, i will simply perish
What are your writing weaknesses?
i will use the same words and phrases within two paragraphs of each other and then miss it in the edit, and i'm a fiend with an em dash. take those things away from meeeeeeeeeee
What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
this one doesn't really come up for me, though i get a little annoyed when it's worked in very clunkily. dark shout out to 14 yr old me doing this with a tumblr snk fic.
What's the first fandom you wrote for?
Unofficially, Peter and the Starcatcher when i was 7, hand-written. Officially, House of Anubis on the nickelodeon message boards circa 2011.
What's a fandom/ship you haven't written for yet but want to?
I want to maybe write a perc’ahlia fic sometime soon? Depends on how the mood takes me? Like, I've officially now written for critical role, but perc’ahlia seems like the next step. Only took 8 years of being in the fandom for the blorbofication of Percy de rolo to happen. It's kinda funny, I've been a fan of shadowgast for so long but have never felt the need to write for them. It just hasn't felt necessary.
What's your favorite fic you've written?
this one's easy. It almost certainly has to be bring a little rust, slow the gears, which i, coincidentally, wrote for TJ for a fic event! genuinely one of my favorite things i've ever done, i'm extremely proud of it and it has some of my favorite c!eret dynamics at the forefront. OTHERWISE, it'd have to be Le Roman de la Couronne, which is a c!punz/c!eret courtly love au, which really just means i spent 33k infodumping about medieval and elizabethan literary tradition, with blorbos on top of it.
anyone who wants to do this, say i tagged you. i love when people talk about their own shit. ok love u bye

SNK Actors AU. New Years party to celebrate the the completion of the anime series. Including characters from the beginning of the series
thanks :)
resolutions
scouting legion. marley warriors. actors au. 2124 words. read on ao3.
“Who wants alcohol?” Pieck asks in a sing-song voice. She smiles as she approaches the group of child actors. In her hand are some plastic wine glasses. Behind her is Porco with a disapproving frown on his face. She’s offered them alcohol once before at the previous cast party, the one that they had thrown to celebrate the end of Attack on Titan, but this time the children are less enthusiastic about her invitation to drink illegally.
“No thanks,” Falco says with a sour face and Udo and Zofia nod in agreement. “It was so sour last time I could hardly finish my glass. Drinking is weird. I don’t know why adults do it.”
“Well, I’ll have some!” Gabi says, puffing out her chest proudly. “I can take it because I’m so mature.”
“You gagged the whole time you drank it last time,” Udo points out.
“Shut up! No, I didn’t,” Gabi hisses, looking up quickly to make sure Pieck hadn’t heard any of it. She clears her throat and smiles broadly up at Pieck. “Anyway, I would love a glass, Pieck.”
“Coming right up,” Pieck says with a wink.
Porco follows closely behind Pieck. He glances back at the kids who are laughing and teasing each other, happy to be reunited after a busy year of wrapping up such a large project and starting new ones, and then leans towards Pieck once they’re out of earshot. “Do you think she’s going to figure out that you’re just giving her prune juice?”
“Gabi? Nah,” Pieck laughs as she hands Porco the extra glasses so that she doesn’t have to bother with them. “Udo, on the other hand, is pretty clever. I think he has an inkling that I’m not actually giving them alcohol. He’s gearing up to be a little mini me.”
“God, I fucking hope not,” Porco mutters.
Nearby, the other actors that played the Marleyan Warriors are chatting with Ymir and Historia. Despite only Reiner having any decent screentime post season three, the five are quite close and talk easily with each other. Although the other four actors appeared either infrequently or not at all during the later seasons of the show, they made sure to meet with each other every few weeks to catch up.
“How did we get a big enough venue for this? It’s like everyone’s here,” Reiner says with a grin. He smiles at another passing cast member and raises a glass towards them in greeting. “Did we really invite everyone? There are people here that I haven’t seen since season one.”
"The more, the merrier,” Annie says although her tone and expressionless face doesn’t quite agree with the words she has just spoken. On her plate is a small pile of cookies, tarts, brownies, and whatever sweet treat she managed to snag from the dessert table. The actress’ sweet tooth was so amusing to the writers that they had written it into her character for the show.
“Are we supposed to mix and mingle?” Bertholdt asks nervously. He loosens the tie around his neck and puts on a shaky smile as he looks around the room. Even after being a part of one of the biggest shows on television and participating in comic con during all his active years as a cast member on Attack on Titan, Bertholdt is still wracked with nerves when put in a room with too many people. “Is it okay that we’re just talking amongst ourselves?”
Historia takes a sip of her champagne and waves her free hand at Bertholdt dismissively. “It’s fine. If they wanted to talk to us, they’d talk to us. People just find their natural groups after working with each other for so many years.”
“Historia’s right,” Ymir says with a grin. She has one arm slung around Historia’s shoulders. “You worry too much about other people, sweet Bertl. Just have a few more drinks. You look like you can use some.”
Bertholdt, never much of a drinker, begins to protest even as his friends goad him on.
Connie Springer is one of the only people not wearing formal attire for the end of the year wrap party. Instead, he’s thrown on jeans and a t-shirt with the words “I survived the Rumbling” emblazoned across his chest. He’s proudly showing off his shirt to the other members of the main cast that had been in the Scouting Legion who are watching him with amusement.
“I made one for everyone! Well, everyone who survived the Rumbling anyway. Sorry, Sasha. These are for heroes only,” Connie snickers as he begins to hand out matching t-shirts to his costars.
“Hey, no fair! I saved people, too! I had that whole arc in the village,” Sasha protests.
“Doesn’t count, you had to be alive during the final battle,” Connie replies and laughs when Sasha pouts in response.
“These look great. Did you print them yourself?” Jean asks. He’s slipped the shirt on over his outfit even though it looks ridiculous when paired with his midnight blue blazer and matching dress pants.
“I did indeed!” Connie says, puffing out his chest proudly. He watches Mikasa and Armin carefully. The two have accepted the shirts but haven’t put them on yet. “You guys don’t have to wear them right now, but promise me you’ll wear them.”
“Oh, I’ll wear it. Sometime. In the future,” Armin says with a frown. His tone is unconvincing but the tentative promise seems enough for Connie.
Mikasa nods at Eren who, like Sasha, is also emptyhanded. “Why doesn’t he get one?”
“Are you kidding? He’s the one who started the Rumbling in the first place! I’d never give him one,” Connie sniffs.
“Hey, you guys wouldn’t have even had the Rumbling without me. It’s because of me that you’re able to have those shirts printed in the first place,” Eren says with a charming smile. Even though the last episode had been filmed months ago, he still keeps his hair long although tonight he’s swept it up in a bun.
Eren’s comment is met with a chorus of boos and the leading man only laughs as Mikasa and Armin take a few swings at him with their new shirts.
“Oh, to be young,” Hanji says with a smile as they observe the younger cast members joke and bicker amongst each other. They lean over to nudge Moblit with their elbow, a lopsided grin on their face as they ask, “Their phones are probably still blowing up with movie and tv show offers.”
“As if yours aren’t,” Moblit says, and Hanji laughs in reply. Moblit is only speaking from his own experience, but he’s received offers ever since his character’s death during the middle of the show. He hadn’t even thought his character was all that popular, so he was surprised at the “Justice for Moblit” campaign and numerous fans who have recognized him on the streets. He’s had his fair share of movie and tv show offers, although typically for supporting roles. He expects Hanji’s offers are even more impressive.
“That’s true. Too many to choose from, although that’s kind of the opposite of a problem,” Hanji laughs. They gesture towards Pixis who’s chatting by the punch bowl with a few other actors who were part of the Garrison members. “Even Pixis is busy after the show’s ending. I heard he has a role lined up as a crazy king in a historical fantasy show.”
The premise seems familiar to Moblit. “Throne of Lies? I think my manager sent me a script a few weeks ago. The director was interested in casting me as a knight or something,” he frowns. “God, they’re going to kill me again, aren’t they?”
“It could be a good thing. My fanbase absolutely exploded when I died. I was more popular dead than alive. You should consider it,” Hanji says. They toss their head and look back to where Erwin is talking with Mike and Nanaba. They wave Erwin over, nearly knocking Moblit in the head with their arm in their excitement. “Hey, Erwin! You have any roles that you’re taking soon? Maybe there’s a project we’ll have together.”
“Mmm?” Erwin hums. He feigns oblivion but everyone knows he’s incredibly private about his life. Only his closest friends know about his private life and hardly anyone knows what projects he’s in until they begin airing. It’s no secret he’s in high demand after his role as Commander Erwin Smith, but what upcoming roles he’s accepted remain a mystery. “I’m sorry. I haven’t decided yet. I’m still going over the scripts.”
“You’re as tightlipped as ever,” Hanji grins. “Directors must love you. You never give anything away. I didn’t even know you were doing that spy thriller until it came out last year. Nobody heard so much as a whisper until the trailer was released.”
Erwin shrugs. “What can I say? I like my work to speak for itself,” he says before taking a sip of his drink.
A few tables away the other Scouting Legion members are conversing with Zeke much to Levi’s displeasure. They get along well with one of the series’ main antagonists even though all the members of Levi’s Squad had perished well before Zeke had appeared in the show. Even Farlan and Isabel, guest stars for a special episode, seem to be enjoying Zeke’s company. It’s difficult for Levi not to take this as a personal betrayal.
“So they really had you bare ass naked on the set?” Auruo asks with an expression almost akin to awe. It’s the sort of admiration he had previously only reserved for Levi.
“Multiple times, actually,” Eld says. He holds up fingers as he begins to list out all the times Zeke had appeared on Attack on Titan in the nude. “That time the goddess Ymir reconstructed his body, the finale, and then there were all the times he showed up shirtless. The fangirls went crazy.”
“Oh yeah, I remember all those trending hashtags because everyone got a good look at that,” Gunther says, nodding at Zeke who just laughs modestly. “Pretty sure some of those scenes were just fanservice. Even the writers knew how popular Zeke was among the audience.”
“Come on, they could have chosen other people in the cast to strip down,” Farlan says, and it’s only now that Levi feels he has an ally. Farlan gestures towards his own abdomen. “Nobody has any idea about the body I have and it’s only because the writers weren’t smart enough to write it in. That 3DMG training alone gave me abs for the next month and the poor audience doesn’t have a clue.”
“Jealous?” Isabel snickers and Farlan scowls in response.
Petra nudges Levi who notices that she’s not taking part in the conversation with the rest of their colleagues. She smiles up at him knowingly. “Do you have any interesting projects lined up, Captain?” she asks. Like many of her costars that had been part of what the fans affectionately call “Squad Levi,” she still keeps his title when referring to him.
Levi has been in demand since his first appearance midway through season one although he had declined any additional work, choosing instead to focus on Attack on Titan until its completion despite the long hiatuses in between seasons. He hadn’t really thought of doing anything afterward, at least not immediately. He prefers to keep a low profile and Attack on Titan has already propelled him to heights of fame that he had never intended of reaching.
“I’m not sure. This project was already a lot of work,” he admits. “I have a stack of projects my manager sent me that I still haven’t read.”
“Maybe something more lowkey? There are a few indie projects that have blown my way. I can contact a few people if you’re interested, although my projects fall mostly in line with romantic comedies and the like,” Petra warns with a laugh.
Romance of any kind would clash with his current image as a cold, calculating fighter, but Levi doesn’t actually mind. He could use a change of pace and reuniting with an old costar for an indie project could be an interesting challenge for the new year. “Sounds like it could be fun,” he says much to Petra’s surprise.
“You’re not afraid of tarnishing your image as Humanity’s Strongest?” she teases.
“Humanity’s Strongest New Year’s resolution is to take part in a good but unexpected production,” Levi replies with a shrug. He gestures to everyone else at the party. “I’m sure everyone here has similar goals for the new year.”
The two enjoy their drinks and company as the others around them exchange stories of their old days and hopes for the future.

King of Fighters: Maximum Impact (2004) PS2 Review
SNK was in a weird spot during the early 2000s. Their contemporaries had shifted nearly all of their focus on 3D games made to be played at the home but SNK continued to produce their coin-op titles for a dwindling arcade industry.
In an era where arcade games were largely released in collections, SNK put out single game home conversions with little to no extra features while Neo Geo emulation became more prevent online.
None of this is to say SNK's output at this time was lackluster. Metal Slug, Garou, Samurai Shodown and King of Fighters continually pushed the standards for pixel art, still looking gorgeous to this day. But the market trends had shifted and without a digital market place to sell shorter arcade games they had trouble finding an audience outside of hardcore enthusiasts. Hence in 2004, rather than another yearly entry of KOF we would receive a 3D spin-off "King of Fighters: Maximum Impact"
Maximum Impact ditches the staple team battle system for a traditional 1 on 1 bouts. Team battles are only available in versus mode and have loading screens inbetween each round. The game still mainly takes place on a 2D plane with the only 3D manuver being a side-step that I personally didn't find particularly useful. What is incredibly useful are the 'body slams'. Simply hold forward or back while mashing punch or kick and you'll perform a little combo string, no doubt a mechanic implemented to help newcomers but it can go boths ways and you can easily find yourself cornered.
Which brings me to the most frustrating aspect of this game, the final boss Duke. Now we all know and accept SNK final bosses are bullshit but Duke has to be the cheapest and most uncreative version of an SNK boss. Duke has an aoe super that will drain more than 80% of your life in a single hit. He can activate it instantly and unless you hit him just before it activates he has super armor, meaning most of the time if you press a button he can just activate his super and get you. Said super also breaks your guard when you block it, can't be jumped over and because Duke has infinite meter he can just spam it over and over again.
But the thing about Duke is that it's also insanely easy to break the fight if your character has a good jump kick. I've had fights last between 1 minute to an hour entirely depending on my characters ability to bullshit their way through the fight.
The game features 20 characters, 6 of them being original. The story sees two lead characters, brothers Alba and Soiree take on the KOF Tournament to wrestle control of Southtown from the aforementioned Duke and avenge their friend Fate. If you play as anyone else you basically get the same intro and outro cutscenes for everyone with minor dialouge changes.
The original character designs are rather hit or miss. The only real stand out is the disciple of Kim Kaphwan 'Chae Lim'. The others range from unremarkable to bland, it's not surprising alot of them haven't made any return appearances.
The game does however feature some stellar alternate costumes and models for each character. Some of which are so good, you have to wonder why it isn't the default. The alternate costumes for Mai and Yuri in particular are ones I'd love to see make a comeback.
The visuals while they don't match the visual splendor you'd see in the previous years KOF 2003 or Namco's 3D fighters of the time they get the job done. The music doesn't quite hit the mark but there are a few standout tracks. The english voice acting however is hilariously horrendous as nearly the entire original KOF cast are given voices that don't match the characters at all. The voice acting was the biggest point of contention from reviewers of the time, so much so that the Xbox port gave the option to swap to the Japanese.
Maximum Impact for all it's faults is a fascinating time capsule of the times and SNK's efforts to break into the mainstream. The game was successful enough to see a sequel 2 years later that would greatly expand on the foundation this game laid out.

Escape from Tombstone - Beat ‘em up Culture (pt.1)
As part of my grading I was tasked with taking a deep look into the forefront of the type of work I would be producing. This proved to be somewhat challenging. Most of the games that inspired me to create this project are from the glory-days of arcades, when coin operated side-scrolling brawlers were all the rage and 2D was king. In particular Capcom, SNK, Namco, Konami and Data East were everywhere. Most of these studios are still active today however only Capcom is thriving and in many ways the Beat ‘em up has been long cast-aside as a genre although it’s DNA can still be felt to varying degrees in many modern games (I’ll get into this further in a follow-up post).
So in preparation for my work I tracked down and played as many classic beat-‘em-ups as I could get my hand on. This was to establish a cultural baseline of function and user- experience for the genre. Determined to cast an even gaze at all of them to see how they fared in the absence of nostalgia and under a more refined, modern and critical outlook. While I won’t be reviewing each game at length, I have collected the notes I took throughout my playthrough of each game below:
Tumblr media
Renegade Fun to wail on people and do ground and pound. Dual directional inputs are interesting. Single life clear is bullshit. What's the point of credits? AI is designed for frustration. Some hitbox issues combined with AI create un-fun scenarios. Such as jumping kicking the bike dudes or any boss fights. Especially girl boss. Some environmental hazards to knock enemies into in the first 2 levels. Enemies can grab and hold you and you have to fight your way out or kick in the opposite directions to knock away enemies who will try to take advantage. Sound effects make the brawling feel pretty good.
Tumblr media
Vendetta Fun stage transitions, 4 player mode. Knocking people into the background makes weapons feel powerful, knocking enemies off bridges etc. Kicking downed enemies and fighting off grapples all make for a fun gameplay experience. Colourful graphics make everything very readable and make it easy to tell Allies apart. Distinct characters. Interactive stages. Decent variety in events (falling fatties and then lumber carrying punk). Fairly easy. No defence options.
Tumblr media
Double Dragon Continuous scroll is cool. Variety of moves. Easy to get overwhelmed due to AI and Hitboxes. Lots of weapons iconic but visually uninteresting stages. Needs follow up move for enemies on the ground. Baseball bat hits need a sound effect. Too much finicky platforming and falling to death. Very weapon and environmental hazard focused. Enemies do the Renegade duck. Hitting enemies and them bending over in pain and being sent flying is fun. Follow ups on stunned enemies grabs and such are fun. Fighting out of enemy holds and holding enemies from behind.
Tumblr media
Double Dragon 2 Less moves. Directional attacks feel limiting in this. Uninteresting stages. Lots of Interactables and weapons.
Tumblr media
Double Dragon 3 Rosetta stone SNES version has Unlockable moveset. Wall Jumps, etc. A lot of Unlockable depth to the combat.
Tumblr media
Super Double Dragon Large variety of moves. Wall Jumps. Cool counter mechanic. Great animations. Fun levels. Not enough environmental interaction.
Tumblr media
Bad Dudes vs Dragon Ninjas Fun voice lines and script. Two levels to fight on adds some depth but other than that rather simplistic.
Tumblr media
The Combatribes Interesting SD art style. Lots of cool attacks and systems. Smashing enemies heads into the floor, swinging them by their legs, smashing two enemies into each other. Enemies rolling out of throws, etc.
Tumblr media
Crime Fighters Similar to Renegade. But a couple more move options, punches and kicks are possible as well as a dedicated jump kick and back kick button. Downed enemies can be kicked and there's more of an emphasis on a serious tone apart from the random comedic sections such as a billboard squashing the character so he waddles like a duck as well as getting crushed between a door and the wall in stage 3. There's quite a few animations such as flicking a knife as you pick it up as well as different sprites for kicking an enemy depending on if you're in front or behind them. Kicking downed enemies is fun and overall the feedback is middling to decent. Bosses have memorable designs and exploitable patterns mostly. Enemies are recognisable and only some are annoying to fight. Weapons dramatically fly out of your hands if you're hit enough and enemies can throw you into the background and do other memorable things that make them feel distinct. Weapons are infinite until you get hit. Levels are fairly generic. Enemies combo stunned can be grabbed and thrown or kneed. Much like double dragon. Bosses become much more bullshit as it goes on. Lots of stupid invincibility frames on moves as well as large Hitboxes even on basic enemies such as the Martial Artists. The game definitely becomes designed for frustration in the later parts. The final boss is the bodyguard of the big bad. Then the big bad steps out of his limousine, throws you the key and if you go to pick it up he starts machine gunning you. You then have to close in on him, knock him down and kick the shit out of him on the ground. Very satisfying.
Tumblr media
Zero Team A beat em up with a Tokusatsu twist. All the characters are cool and the animation and general style is very appealing. Everything is bright colourful and a little exaggerated. Enemies satisfyingly wall splat and explode when defeated. Your moveset is surprisingly solid you have a grapple with several variations depending on direction, a varying combo (up during the combo for a special Finisher and back during to hit enemies behind you) and a clear out special move as well as a more powerful combo Finisher if you hold up during your attack chain. Feels good to play and there's lots of stuff to pick up and the sound effects and soundtrack fit it nicely. Some of the enemy designs are great and distinct. Some enemies' armour is slowly broken away when you attack them. Thrown spears can get stuck in the wall and your jump counts as a flying knee which you can combo into a follow up attack by pressing attack in the air. Some of the weapons are pretty unusual for the genre such as a bazooka. Bosses explode in satisfying showers of loot.
Tumblr media
Streets of Rage 2 Really iconic enemy designs (great colour coding. Everyone has a primary colour with tones. And then a strong accent colour). Some cool moves and abilities that give flexibility to how you fight. Flipping over people you grapple for back grapples or to leap off them for distance, dashing attack, different special moves. Weapons. There's a lot here to add to the combat.
Tumblr media
The Peacekeepers Taunt Button, Grapple variations. Cool character and enemy designs. Lots of boss dialogue and "cutscenes". Feels very zoomed in.
Tumblr media
64th Street Throwing enemies into the environment and smashing it apart and in 8 directions is visceral and fun (can even throw them into the water at the pier). Restricted view because of square resolution sucks but isn't too much of a problem because of the AI not exploiting your lack of vision. Absolute hoards of enemies in the later levels. Lots of fun knocking them all down and into the environment. absolutely ear splitting horrifying music. Some pretty shitty knockdowns leading to free hits for Enemies. Unless you use your clear out which costs health. For many of them you'll have to figure out their weakness such as tumbling guy. Which can be slow and dull. Cool setting. JoJo's inspired. Final boss is kind of fun. Blimp final level is a cool idea. Completely transforming hallways by throwing people into stuff is fun.
Tumblr media
Mutation Nation Special system is cool but hits lack impact. Lots of short stages with interesting bosses with more mechanics than you'd think for this kind of game. Exhausted idle. On low health is cool. Having different abilities is cool. Wish the Uppercut had combo potential. Some very unfun to fight enemies (such as the leap off screen and then either come down with an attack or don't) also charging a special takes just a bit too long meaning you won't get to use it when you need it. Boss rush at the end sucks. Some enemies moves are not very readable (such as green Cyborg Mutant). All enemies are either Mutants or robots which should be fun and sometimes is but mostly doesn't really reach it's full potential.
Tumblr media
Burning Fight Stage transitions and side areas are cool. Combos are fun enough and the game responsive. Combat is simple and the game probably about as milque toast as it gets but it has cinematic aspirations with it's many mini cutscenes. Other than that fairly unimaginative. Lots of items in the world to smash up though. Levels are short and punctuated by mini bosses some of which are actually pretty fun to figure out. Game could really use a dash and ground follow ups as well as more expansive grappling options. Throwing people into the objects in the environment would be great. Hilarious wrestler names.

The english dub for episode 1 of season 2 is streaming now on Funimation's website. Since you said you'd be checking it out, I'll just ask the obvious: what did you hate about it? Was there anything you liked about it?
It’s hard to be critical now because after three years of frequent anime con attendance, I’ve met most of these people. Some of them several times. I have a better idea of the difficulties they face and also the effort they put into their job. I still side eye a lot of the word choices, but again, matching flaps is hard and requires some creative hand waving. They do the best they can.
A few things I will say. Jessica Calvello was a good choice for crazy mad scientist Hange but I was anxious to hear how she’d do in the more serious season 2 role. She did fine. That said, there’s no way anyone could compare to the amazing Romi Park, so Jessica is at a huge disadvantage.
Josh Grelle’s as Armin screaming his way into Eren’s room made me laugh. He’s my favorite English VA for good reason. He’s consistently amazing.
Gelgar’s little lisp might grow on me. In fact, I think it’s growing on me as I type this.
J. Michael Tatum is one of the funniest men alive, so I cannot take him seriously as Erwin Smith. My favorite J Michael moment was when he was signing autographs sitting next at Matt Mercer (Levi). Someone in my group mentioned their crush on Matt and J Michael looked at them and said, “Good luck with that, honey. I’ve been barking up that tree for five years!”. It’s hard to hear them together on screen and not laugh thinking about that.
Thanks for your ask anon!

snk cast x gn!reader + cute summertime romance
Tumblr media
18+ ONLY, MINORS DO NOT INTERACT, PLEASE!
☼ — ft. Eren, Armin, Mikasa, Jean, Levi, Hanji, & Erwin (all characters are 18+)
☼ — genre: pure fluff + gn!reader x character, warnings: mentions of vandalism/petty crime, alcohol mentions
☼ — a/n: please enjoy my first snk x reader content :)
E R E N
Fills his time with a weird mix of volunteering around the city and committing blatant acts of vandalism
He spends his days helping out at the youth shelter and nights scribbling graffiti anywhere he can find a spot. Takes you to spray-paint every underpass you come across
Unnaturally good at arcade games and wins you lots of little random plushies from the claw machines. Your favorite is an angry-looking brown bear that you can’t help but think resembles him
Loves to stay up late and discover new parts of the city with you. Has a bad habit of falling asleep on your shoulder wherever you are though, when he finally runs out of energy
Even though he tries to play it off like he’s too cool for them, insists that you two take cute photobooth pictures together and keeps his favorite of them in his wallet
A R M I N
Practically lives at the beach during the summer. The two of you plan out your days there in advance so your able to visit the different tide pools and see various sea creatures.
Has a strong sweet tooth. He’s a huge fan of any type of frozen treat, but is extremely partial to slushies. In at least half the pictures you get of your summertime adventures, his mouth is stained teal from the blue-raspberry flavor he always buys.
Gets surprisingly tan during the summer, due to the fact that he’s outside whenever possible. Even when studying, he prefers to do so at parks around where he lives rather than indoors. His hair bleaches out a little further as well.
Willing to go to parties with you when the two of you are invited by mutual friends, but tends to slip outside to the porch after the first hour. More often than not, the two of you wind up ditching all together and heading off to find someplace to get late night food.
He brings you to visit his grandfather during the summertime and the two of you help him out with repairs around the house. Being around the two people he loves the most brings out Armin’s talkative side and the three of you spend your vacation days swapping stories over glasses of iced tea.
M I K A S A
Busy during the summer, so you can’t meet as much as would like
Part of her gym’s regional kickboxing team and helps teach part time. You go to all her matches and cheer till your voice gives out. She tells you that you don’t have to come, but secretly is so, so grateful that you do
On days when you’re both free, you try out all the best brunch places in the city. Mikasa prefers small family-owned businesses. The two of you quickly become regulars at your favorite spots
Sends you voice messages when you are apart ever since you said that you liked to hear her voice. She’s adorably awkward in them, usually just telling you about whatever she’s doing at the time and how much she misses you
Gets misty-eyed when you show up at the airport with flowers for her when she gets back home. Squeezes you till your out of breath and lifts off the ground a little bit when you hug again after your time apart.
J E A N
The actual best at planning a fun day full of activities
Busts his ass working at a couple part time jobs most days, but makes up for how busy is by making sure you two have the best possible time and do the most when you’re together
The type to have a bucket list for all the different activities he thinks you guys should do together. He puts a lot of effort into creating it with you. The two of you decorate two matching posters so that each of you has a copy.
A little bit of a sucker for cliches: ice cream dates and visiting waterparks. He’s a romantic at heart and with you he feels like he can finally participate in all the classic lovey-dovey activities couples do.
One of those people who acts like an influencer despite the fact that he’s only followed by family and friends. Takes super high quality pics of you so he can brag about how great his s/o is. Took a few photography classes in college and it shows. Every photo he takes of you looks amazing because you can tell just how enamored he is with you.
King of matching couple fits. Loves when the two of you wear coordinating colors or even just similar accessories.
L E V I
Not a fan of hot weather, so prefers to hang out in the evenings or early mornings when it’s cooler (which works well with the fact that he has to work most days).
Has no clue what to do during the summer, besides what you two always do, but does his best
You two go for early morning runs at his suggestion and then get breakfast afterwards. There’s a smoothie place down the block from the park that you frequent, with different local fruit specials each week.
He brings you to his favorite tea shop and you two slowly drink your way through their summer refresher menu throughout the season. You learn
Is willing to go to the beach, but be prepared to cover the man with sunscreen, because he burns. Since he knows that he won’t encounter anyone from work, he sometimes wears a large sunhat for extra UV protection.
When your vacation time finally lines up, the two of you get out of the city and head to the charming town where his mother lives. You get to help Kuchel in her garden and listen to her stories about adorable young Levi.
While he’s not extremely enthusiastic about summer as a season, he does find it far more enjoyable when he gets to spend it with you
H A N J I
Lives for traveling during the summer months, half for fun and half for their work as part of an anthropological research team. Whenever they can’t bring you along, expect lots of silly, cheesy postcards and many late night phone calls.
Thinks that camping is an absolute must. You two go on hikes together to find the best places to camp. Teaches you all sorts of cool facts about the different areas you are in. Likes when the two of you get “lost” and have to navigate back with a compass (and a park map as backup).
Makes their own homemade juice blends (some better than others) and freezes them into popsicles. Brings you them and other snacks when you’re working.
Stays up late with you and points out different constellations while you drink hot cocoa on the rooftop of their apartment building. While you don’t understand everything they are explaining to you, you love to watch their excited expression and enthusiasm as they tell you all about the world.
E R W I N
Glamorous cultural events are Erwin’s favorite part of the summertime
Expect to to be brought to opening ceremonies, christenings of cruise ships, and wine tastings
Despite the fancy events, Erwin makes sure you don’t feel too out of place by spending the evenings shit talking the other guests with you, and trying to guess who is sleeping with who and who is going to get drunk and ruin the evening
Insists that you get out of the city as often as possible, so expect a lot of weekend getaways
As much as he likes to do things with you, he can also appreciate an afternoon spent drinking sangria and reading by the poolside (a private pool, of course. He can’t resist asking you to put sunblock on his back (half because he actually needs the help, half just to see you blush at the request).
Owns a sleek vintage convertible that he’s only able to drive in the warmer months. Likes to pick you up from work in it while still dressed in his impeccably sharp suit from the office, just to see the looks on your coworkers faces

Lostcauses Fic: The Permanence of the Young Men
(aka Lost's ridiculously self indulgent end-of-SnK fic or What Happened to Levi After The War.)
The curtains billow softly in the mild breeze that blows in through the open window, the late summer sun casting long stripes of light and shadow across the floor. Levi closes his eyes and tilts his face up to catch the last of its warmth.
“You’re like a contented cat.” Erwin smiles, turning a page of his book.
“You’re a fine one to talk.” Levi casts a sidelong glance at the man sitting next to him. Erwin is barefoot, boots cast aside, long legs stretched out in front of him, shirt open at the collar, sleeve rolled up.
The room is familiar but different. Same bookcases, same bed, their bed, same round table where they’ve sat so many times before. But Levi knows that outside the window, instead of the Survey Corps’ training grounds, he’ll see the long golden sweep of the bay and the sea stretching blue to the horizon. He can hear the ceaseless sound of the waves through the window and, somewhere in the distance, the sound of voices and Hanji’s raucous laughter rising up from the beach below.
“Fucking four eyes. Disturbing the peace.’
“Always.” Erwin agrees.
“Some things never change huh?”
They fall back into comfortable silence. Erwin reading, Levi just listening to the sound of the waves and the cry of the gulls wheeling past the window. It’s quiet. Peaceful.
“Do I have to go back?” he says at last.
Erwin closes his book and lays it on the table.
“You don’t have to, but I think you should.”
“Why?”
“Because you of all people deserve to live.”
“I don’t know about that.” Levi looks down at his hands, two fingers are missing on his right hand.
“I do. You’ve earned it Levi.” Erwin replies earnestly. “You saved humanity.”
“Did I?” Levi looks up from his mutilated hands. “Isn’t everyone dead?”
“Not everyone.”
“What if I don’t want to live? What if I want to stay here?” He chokes suddenly, voice catching in his throat. “With you.”
Erwin smiles fondly and reaches out to take his hand, warm palm closing over the space where his fingers used to be.
“We’re always with you Levi. We always have been. You won’t be going back alone. I’ll be with you. We’ll all be with you.”
“I guess…”
“Levi, promise me you’ll live.” Erwin clasps his hand tightly, and there’s a look of such gratitude, such conviction in his blue eyes, that Levi has to look away.
“Besides,” Erwin continues, “I want to see what you’ll look like when you’re old and grey.”
“Fuck you.”
“Promise?”
Levi nods, voice still thick with emotion. “Yeah, I promise.”
~
There is before and there is after.
Before, there was a world with giant lakes of salt water, rivers of fire, lands made of ice, snowy plains of sand. There were mountain ranges and river valleys, grassy steppes and great forests teaming with life. There were nations, cities, towns, and villages, where people lived and fought and loved and died.
After, there is nothing but razed earth, sullied waters, mountains crumbled to dust, forests splintered to kindling, carrion and the creatures that gorge on it. After, there is death, disease, starvation and despair. And a new nation that rises like a carrion crow fattened on the bloated corpse of the world.
A handful of nations survive unscathed, to the far east and uttermost west, beyond the reach of the rumbling’s swathe of destruction. Hizuru in the south west, escapes the worst of the ruin, along with a few nations to the north and south. The apocalyptic devastation radiates out from Paradis, which sits like an untouched jewel in the midst of a dung heap, obscene in its perfection.
The few nations that have survived unite in their efforts to save what is left of the tattered remnants of humanity. The first year is the worst; 50% of the 20% that survived the rumbling succumb to famine and disease. But life is stubborn and it finds a way. Humanity survives, traumatized and tormented by unfathomable loss, but it survives.
And somehow, against the odds, Levi survives too. They find him on the battlefield at the foot of Fort Salta, more dead than alive, and carry him to the makeshift field hospital that swells and grows into a vast refugee camp, as those who were fortunate, or unfortunate, to survive the rumbling flock together for what meagre succour the remaining nations can provide.
