Behind the Concept - Location: Over the course of the year, before things got a little crazy, I asked myself what I could do to level up my visual art projects. Knowing how much I feel that the right look/location for a shoot can make a big difference in how it hits upon delivery, I wanted to push myself to make my concepts even more realistic by figuring out real places I could put them as often as I could. Everyone loves a good studio shoot, but there’s something about seeing a concept exactly where you’d expect it to be. That familiarity with the setting can go a long way into making the photo feel like a surreal snapshot from a real life situation that you’re seeing in real time.

I looked up boxing gyms around town and ended up finding the Seattle Boxing Gym. I considered reaching out, but wasn’t sure if I’d be able to get it or they’d be interested in letting me shoot there. But I did have it in my back pocket, so when I reached out to photographer Lamar G, I asked him if he thought the shoot would look good as a studio shoot or at an actual boxing ring. (I still needed a boost of confidence and) I did still think the shoot would look cool as stills in a room, but that the boxing ring would bring a special touch to it. He said either would work, but if we could get an actual ring, the photos might really pop.

So I took a chance, reached out to the gym and - wouldn’t you know it - they were into it. We went there, they had an instructor hang around to oversee us shooting and he even gave me some tips on how to make sure I looked as realistic of a boxer as possible with my stances and throws. Bless him 🙏 Being in an actual ring, I could believably tell the story of a fighter training, in progress, and feeling the highs and lows of an intense brawl. The audience wouldn’t have to feel in the pieces, even if I could’ve still emoted and styled in a studio. Instead, they’d have all the pieces and real-life elements around them to really frame the concept and ground the story in reality. Plus, I mean, how badass and professional is it to use an actual location just for your art? *casual polo pop* It was a trip to send an email that said, “I and a fellow art festival featured photographer would be honored to use your space.” #flex

As with a lot of things, sometimes it’s just that extra oomph and effort that can take a great project into a memorable project. Even if it was a lot to plan, I’m definitely proud of how I put my creative direction hat on to elevate this shoot and now have more confidence in my ideas and hope to continue pushing my creativity/work as I keep creating. The results speak for themselves. Thank you, SBG!

Do you think Cielo is a gal or guy

The toy manager/developer confirmed none of the cardbots in season 2 are women, noting how it's a bit unfortunate, as it's how robot genres tend to go.

However other animation directors on the team have been referring to Cielo as an older sister in their posts and fanart. Some staff have also stated that technically there isn't a gender setting for the cardbots either. (However it's similar to transformers in that "they're just robots" so they didn't consider gender, but it's obvious they deemed men/masculinity as the default.)

But due to the nature of all that, while they don't have genders I think you're free to give any gender headcannon to the cardbots as well!~

alright i know this is a bit after the poll (this week was Hectic) but. i loved the tournament a bunch even though i didn't have time to make good propaganda for my boy matt

like. i didn't know who whole or brian were before this tournament but now i have spent way too long playing yuppie psycho (considering that poll came out like a week before finals and also that. i can't do any of the puzzles) and have so much cccc brainrot. all the participating blorbos were too powerful. amazing competition
