Welp. We woke up for our shift today and the BEMmon had evolved overnight. Now instead of 15 little fellas running around we have one very stoic Snatchmon tagging along. Still no idea why this big fella's component Digimon decided to follow us around but evolving has changed nothing. Oh and they ate all our food. Even my coffee beans,,,,

Ok, I know this is not usually the case, but I'm in the middle of an infiltration this time, and we've got a temporal ally-
Let me-
Let me just explain from the beginning.
During a little reunion I had with my friends a few days ago, we got inside a castle in the center of my city, that also works as a museum for those interested. During this little trip, the system they use to track who enters the museum crashed one one of my friends, someone who has already been featured in this blog tried to enter their social security number to register, this was a mere coincidence for me then, but it revealed itself to be the result of me not warning my friends of what may come after them if they have or have had digimon under their possession.
Last year, this friend of mine tried raising an Agumon on their phone, but this wasn't possible due to the complexity of the phone's OS that wouldn't let Digimon Capture run properly, and even tho that Agumon never got to be even on child stage for that long, the remains of its data still inhabited my friend's phone, which made the BEMmon that have been a problem for me before go after him, he had the misfortune of having to deal with those things, it however, wasn't as destructive as it was for me, since they just targeted the Agumon data on his phone and sadly the data on his 3DS's SD card, which helped them grow a lot, more than enough for one of them to become BEMmon Adult, or, what I have dubbed Snatchmon, due to its tendency of fighting using snatching movements, that allow it to harvest the opponent's data with its claws, but I'm getting ahead of myself. One of these Snatchmon got to the castle's system and somehow managed to move into the train station, train station that I used to get back home that day, and he stayed in the train station that's near my house to camp and wait until I got back, however, something must've got his attention, because he got inside some rookie police officer's phone.
If you wonder why I know this, well, you see, I know a repairman who happens to know about digimon, but not about how to use them, so ive got a kind of partnership with him, he sends me devices with digimon-related problems, so I can investigate and get some money, and I get my repairs cheaper, well, it just so happens that the officer who we'll call "Chief" from now on, went for help to this guy and he redirected her to me, involving both of us in a crusade against the particular Snatchmon that infected her phone andILLEXPLAINTHERESTLATERITSHERE-

A while back before Namco revealed official art for Vemmon, Snatchmon, Destromon, and Galacticmon (20 years after their original appearance in Digimon World 3!) I had done my own art of them in the classic official style, scroll far enough back on my feed and you will find them!  But I wanted more, we needed a Gaiamon to go with the Vemmon line, we already had one for the Appmon series, and if Hackmon can be a Digimon and an Appmon then so can he! So here is my version of Gaiamon, complete with a little DOTGaiamon sprite! I really enjoy this one, I wanted him to look like he was on par with if not exceeding the Sovereign Digimon. Compact but imposing.

WarGreymon has some pretty interesting etymology. If you didn't know, the name "Greymon" is derived from the English word "Great." And I've always been convinced the "War" is WarGreymon was short for Warrior, rather than the event, as it roles off the tongue better in Japanese. This means that WarGreymon's name ends up meaning "Great Warrior Digimon," which is pretty neat, though I think my reinvisioning might match the event more than the class.
Anyway, I'm much more happy with this version than my first version. Mostly, it's just less monotonous since it's not just blue. Moving the old faceplate to the shoulder was inspired by Dracomon X3 from the cancelled Digimon Fusions mobile game. Apart from that, a lot of it was just looking at the toy, figuring out if the dimensions roughly worked, and trying to enact the things I listed I wanted to do when I finished the first version.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also, I didn't bring it up last time, but I kind of imagined these two being my equivalent of Liberator Digimon. I was talking with someone about designing one, but as I thought more on the idea, and especially after reading the novel, most of the new Digimon are just new evolution lines. And with the reveal of Vemmon retaining its evolution into Snatchmon, the idea of adding another partner to the MetalGreymon DigiXros makes more sense.
Anyway, I'm gonna also redo BoostKabuterimon and RizeGreymon, if only because there are a few minor things I want to change; nothing as big as this. Probably not going to do a full redo of SkillGreymon, but I might sketch it out. And then I can finally get around to Tankdramon and ShineGreymon... And maybe a few other things.

Digimon World 3 - Final Thoughts
I've beaten the third Digimon World woohoo!! It was a brisk 40 hours, the perfect JRPG length. Overall, it was way better than Digimon World 2, but maybe not better than 1?? I dunno. It was definitely more enjoyable than 1 gameplay-wise, but if I look at it big picture it was way more generic and less memorable. Defeating the first Digimon World felt like more of a triumph and beating 3 felt kinda hollow (because it was easy and anticlimactic).
Despite any gripes I have, I could see myself replaying this. I'm especially interested in a potential revisit (like 10 years from now lol) because I found out that the PAL version of the game (Digimon World 2003) is the true, complete version of the game. Whoops...
So uh...Lord Megadeath and Snatchmon huh...great naming sense guys, good job.
Confession: I straight-up ignored all of the side quests in this game. Skipped all of the card battles, never got the fishing pole, etc. In the end, I don't really regret it because those card battles were kind of pointless anyway.
Confession part 2: I WAS planning on getting back to the side quests in the post-game until I realized that there is no post-game in this game. This is one of those games where you beat the final boss and they kick you back to the start screen with no opportunity to save. I hate it when games do that TT__TT now there's now proof that I beat it!
That ending was kinda lame. I liked the final battle with all of the epic FMVs, but the epilogue with the kids was literally so boring. They did not make me care about any of these characters in the slightest.
Speaking of FMVs, this game had so many!! The FMVs combined with the awesome pixel art definitely made this game great. It was a little lame how half of the world was just the same environments but palette swapped, but eh...whatever. There was enough variation to keep me excited.
Travel in this game was BULLSHIT. I said in one of my previous posts "fast travel will probably come soon!" NOPE, never came. The worst was when you beat a boss and then they made you back track throughout the whole dungeon for no reason. Thank God I played this on an emulator because an unexpected death would have set me back AGES. Very often it would take me an hour in REAL TIME to get to the next place I needed to be. Entire game sessions were just me walking across the map. If it wasn't for this mechanic, the game would have been like 10 hours long lol. Definitely artificial padding.
I noticed a couple of digimon here and there that I had never seen before. I think this game had a great variety in its wild encounters, although it was kind of weird to battle so many ultimates and whoop their butts so easily.
Speaking of easy...I think this game was maybe too easy or at least too exploitable. Health items were dirt cheap so it was super simple to stock up on 99 of each at all times, the counter crest allowed me to deal massive damage beyond my digimon's levels. The final boss fight with Galacticmon was just a game of letting my digimon attack until they died, resurrecting them with a healing item, and repeating that cycle until the battle was finished. The resurrection item brings back all digimon in your party with their full health which is pretty OP. By the 2nd half of the game this strategy became unbeatable and battles became kind of stale.
SO many random battles, like an obnoxious amount. I would leave one random battle, take a single step and another one would be triggered. I listened to a lot of podcasts slogging through this.
One of the weakest parts of this game was the plot/writing, but that was also weak in Digimon World 1 & 2. At least the translation seemed pretty decent this time around. I guess the "stuck in the game world" cliche was kinda fun.
The other thing I ignored in this game was the bonus digimon you can pickup along the way. I did end up getting two of them, but I never used them. They start at level 1 and ain't nobody got time to level up digimon from level 1 halfway through the game. Also, I wasn't super interested in using Guilmon when my Renamon already had MegaloGrowmon in their digivolve roster. I kind of wish this game allowed you to catch the wild digimon because you could create some really crazy parties.
My "main digimon" that I ended up using the most was Kotemon in their Kyukimon form. This was unfortunate because I think Kyukimon is butt ugly, but oh well lol.
The blasted mechanic in battles was really great and I hope they bring it back in future games! It allows you a second chance when you're in a pinch and just feels epic. I rarely used the digivolve option in battles, so it was nice getting a "free" digivolve every now and then.
I could go on and on about this game apparently, but I'm gonna wrap it up here. I have many many more games to get through before I start the next season of the anime. Onwards!
I give Digimon World 3 a solid 6.5 out of 10

So let's say you're a BEMmon player and you have 3 memory, a tamer in play, a memory boost in play, and nothing else.
DigiXros into BT-18 Snatchmon for 2; because you have no Digimon not named BEMmon in play, you can use cards in your trash as xros materials, in this case 4 BEMmon
Evolve your tamer into Mercuremon for 2 (either one works but I prefer the BT-18 version for obvious reasons)
Jogress into Chimairamon for free; its [When Evolving] effect places an additional BEMmon from the trash
You now have 5 BEMmon in sources
Use Fusionize for 1; placing an additional BEMmon from trash, you evolve into Ragnamon in your trash for free
Ragnamon's effect places 4 additional BEMmon; with 10 BEMmon in sources, you can pop an arbitrary enemy digimon
But you're not done yet
Evolve into Apocalymon for 6 like the anime villain you are
Apocalymon's end of turn effect places a promo Destromon from your trash in your sources; it then activates Destromon's [On Play] as an effect of Apocalymon
You have 10 BEMmon in sources
You can pop 13 play cost's worth of bodies
Mill 2 cards just to flex
You now have 17,000 DP on your opponent's turn because of Mercuremon's inheritable, AND a redirect even if you swung with Ragnamon, AND once the redirect is consumed Snatchmon's inherit lets you unsuspend and become <Blocker>

Erebusmon, my oc digimon
Tumblr media
Ok so I have been working on this digimon for the past week or so, and I have no idea what to make for it to communicate it to peeps, so here's my literary analysis of my own oc digimon who barely has a design bc i dont have the storywriting abilities to make a story.
Premise: the premise of Erebusmon in the canon is a bit confusing, but it is a fusion of Eosmon(mega), Chaosdramon, Chaosmon: Valdur Arm(which I will refer to as ValdurChaosmon), Rapidmon(gold), and MetalPhantomon, it is pure power and can rival beings such as Omnimon X and even Odugomon (not X lol). Erebusmon’s premise thematically is the relationship of chaos and control, how they are the same and conflicting, and each of it’s components represents an element/ aspect of control.
The story: Erebusmon’s story is the story of it’s components, only appearing at the end of a story for a final battle.
For Eosmon, the story is very similar to Kizuna’s, about someone who emotionally abandoned their Digimon to “grow up” and follow the expectations/ social contract, however, realizing what she missed, created Neverland to prevent children around the world from having the same “growing up” as she did, almost engaging in a sort of self-infantilization. Eosmon’s element of control is control over the past and present, in hopes the future will continue to be that past/ present. This Tumblr post and this Elliot Sang yt vid go more in depth about it, even tho the vid isn’t necessarily about Kizuna.
For Chaosdramon, it’s about a Vemmon who evolves (to Snatchmon) because it gains a sense of self (opposed to the other Vemmons, who don’t), and used the other Vemmons, terraformed the world around it and got a sense of superiority, thinking itself to be the highest on the hierarchy, thinking itself to be a type of god, a false god. It then digivolved to Machinedramon as the manifestation of that, but then again to Chaosdramon as an extreme version, becoming a chaotic beast overruling (some of) the Digital World. It’s element of control is about the relationship between identity, machines, and nature. A good explanation about that is this 10 min yt vid.
For ValdurChaosmon, it’s even split more, with ValdurChaosmon being a fusion itself, of BanchoLeomon, and of Varodurumon. BanchoLeomon is a Leomon who gained it’s title by having it’s spirit tested, but never broken, thus strengthening it’s ideas of Justice, and any who do not follow that Justice, are Evil and BanchoLeomon will hunt Evil down. Varodurumon is a Digimon who evolved from Hououmon X, an extreme Holy symbol, presiding over the skies, any touch of evil will be eradicated with Varodurumon. This fusion to ValdurChaosmon represents the control over the self inherent in ideas of good and evil, especially in executing said ideas on others.
For Rapidmon(gold), you might be thinking it’s a strange choice, but just hang tight. Rapidmon evolved from Shoutmon, through Shoutmon’s regular evo line with Rapidmon being the Mega form. Shoutmon, similar to in Xros Wars/ Fusion, wants a single thing, and that’s to be the Digimon King, and so through the Evo Line he gets more and more power, enough power to influence and control, and becomes Rapidmon(gold) like Destiny. Rapidmon’s element of control is how interrelated the idea of control is to the idea of destiny, this yt vid is great at explaining it.
Last, and maybe least, is MetalPhantomon, who, similar to Rapidmon, explores ideas of destiny, but in the context of death, the fact that theres an end to this life at all, and understanding that, makes all the other’s relevant and may be the most important thing to understand.
This all culminates to a fractured, powerful digimon, Erebusmon, who’s only motivation is to control. Erebus, in Greek Mythology, is the son of Chaos, yet the father of Fate, the Three Fates, Old Age, Darkness, Dreams and more. Erebusmon, in the story, is fractured, split, and fused between multiple components, however, it seeks to control and be one being. It brings in the ideas of the Absurd, the conflict between the chaos, absurdity, of life, and our inherent drive to find meaning, lucidity, and thus control, in it. It also brings in the idea of the Split Subject, which is a conscious being, who is split, but really more accurately represents this quote "[you are not a Split Subject] you are only a Subject because you are Split... when you are truly yourself is when you understand yourself the least" by Clark Elieson, but is also the antithesis to it by always seeking out control, to be one, however he’s still the thesis as he only exists because he is split, he is Absurd.
Erebusmon also has 2 crests of Destiny on his chest, and a fractured digicore, which is the blue orbs on his shoulders and in the center of his chest, and 4 holy rings on it's ankles and calves.
And if Erebusmon is in a game, I think it would be good if in the moments of death, Erebusmon realizes true power comes not in the form of control over self or others, but instead from acceptance of the chaos.

DMO: Digimon Military Operatives_54.TXT
I'LL LEAVE THE X-ANTIBODY QUESTION FOR LATER, LET'S FOCUS ON THE BATTLE BECAUSE THIS HAS TO BE THE WEIRDEST COMEBACK I'VE SEEN IN... FOREVER.
Thunderballmon X jumped out of the table and threw itself against a power-crazy Snatchmon, and used the Thunder Bomber to make it flinch, and when it tried to get back and eat the BEMmon, Damemon took the chance to use the Gun Vulcan to make it fall for a brief moment, once Snatchmon was on the floor, Canoweissmon didn't even got to think before we all encouraged him to break it's data with the Gallia Fissure, and once the external case was damaged enough, Tyutyumon got out of the Tyutyu Tray yo get the data Snatchmon ate and haven't fully digested yet.
Getting them back into a random folder on the phone, and then ordering Damemon to smash Snatchmon's incomplete DigiCore with the Bunbun Ken, so Tyutyumon could save the outer body...
This deranged rat just gave us the win and I don't know how to feel about it.
