AC6 is such a wonderful emotional experience. The whole game for your first playthrough is heehee hoohoo look at all these cool characters!!! Are they all so fun and quirky and unique and interesting???

Now kill them. Do your job and pull the fuckin trigger, dog.

I vividly remember fighting back tears for the whole ending arc of Fires of Raven. I lost so many friends, some at my own hands. I didn't know. I didn't know it would come to this. Im so sorry, everyone. By the time i realized the path i was on, it was too late to save any of you.

Then you do it all again in NG+. Try to be better, make more thoughtful decisions, and fight the right people. Only to find you're still pointing your guns at the people you love.

So you go again, numb to the loss but still desperate for another way.

Only this time, you truly lose everyone. No one you care about survives the Coral Release.

But maybe it's for the best. Maybe you could push forward and build something new on the bones of everyone you sacrificed.

Toshiro's nightmare is sooo interesting to think about.

I think it might have happened before Marcille joined their party, otherwise Marcoulle would probably have already known about nightmares already I feel- she doesn't seem to be familiar with them at the end of chapter, but who knows.

Like what would it be about? My first instinct is to say it for sure has something to do with his father. His beef and sentiment of inferiority with him is even the main point Kui highlights on his adventurer’s bible profile, it’s at the center of a lot of his issues….. Maybe he fails at something in his dream or everyone tells him he sucks or such… Kinda like Laios parallels! Ohhh ohh you're letting the family down Toshiro!! Orrr, people die when he was supposed to protect them I could see too— maybe even something to do with the heirdom.

But my favorite? If his nightmare was only a slightly harsher version of his daily life at home. Just him going along doing his routine, training, meeting with his father for extra stress, eating alone a meal that tastes bland, all while Maizuru and others nitpick at all of his little imperfections in his demeanor and choices and acts. Constantly being criticized on every little thing he does wrong... Hold your chopsticks more neatly young master, walk straighter and don’t stare young master, land that blow more cleanly young master, you have to go meet with your father young master. Never taking too long of a break because he still remembers the time one of Maizuru's spirits chased him with a knife.

Living your nightmare... Nightmare that’s just blasé routine you constantly go through, so even though it’s your most hated most dreaded most feared situation you just act as if everything’s normal because to you it is, it is your normal, and he doesn’t even let a crack show.

And like Falin getting to see what it was like for him back home would be so good too. Helping him through it and "Hey, this isn't real, come back to reality with us"... I wonder if it happened before he fell for falin or after... I like to think it happened before. Maybe even early on near when Toshiro joined them, especially since he mostly stayed in the party for her... And listen I have a soft spot for Maizuru, but I do bet if she'd seen his nightmare she would have found ways to judge it whatever it was, maybe throuh coddling her precious baby boy a bit, but if it was the routine theory then I bet she'd would just have been like "yes, of course that's the correct way to raise him. what is nightmarish about this?" Cough cough, the HAG BABYSITTER SPIRIT!!

which is worse: a nightmare where an active enemy is aggressively threatening you, or what appears to be a perfectly normal daily life.

I've decided to end the backstory there! I mainly wanted to tell Vincent's child/teen years by highlighting the key events in a story. It's a happy, but heartbreaking ending that leaves you wondering all sorts. Thank you everyone who has followed along! I understand story and wordy stuff isn't for everyone and how people generally favour gameplay posts over lots of words/dialogue in a legacy. Vincent's backstory is something I've set my mind to completing and I'm proud of doing that. I have a newfound confidence in my storytelling and writing abilities and it's all thanks to you guys ❤️

Also how do you like my poem??? 🤭 I made the text underneath match the pictures but it can be read on its own. Honestly, I was writing this as I went and somehow it flows nicely 🤭 It's referring to Vincent's life with pain, coming, living with it, going away, etc

It was all a facade And I didn't know that We were just like any other family I remember it all so clearly Meeting new friends Making new memories But why does pain always come in the end?

I keep thinking back to those times When the good things come from the bad I saw all the signs When he was playing with our minds Staying strong was just so hard Even when the good people came For how long will I have to live with this pain?

There are some things we will remember For the rest of our lives Like my first love that September All its flashbacks start when I close my eyes No longer was I going to hide From all the events of those days Still, will this pain ever go away?

It was us against the world then Nothing was going to stop me Seeing my best friends again They say everything happens for a reason That I can take control of my decisions And make myself feel understood So is this pain finally gone for good?

And what if this pain comes back again?

In my heart of hearts, at the end of the session the snails seemed to disappear inside their shells with a little pop, and after curiosity got the better of the lifers, they lifted the shells up to reveal a pocket-sized, completely harmless version of their snails they could keep as friends
