hm. not feeling great today. might vent a little.

i ordered a few clothing items so i could dress more modestly, including 2 abayas and a khimar, and ive been more motivated to become a niqabi (especially after going to the mosque and seeing a few niqabis and being inspired by them)

but honestly i just kinda feel like a fraud. like, i want to dress so modestly because i think its physically, mentally, and spiritually more comfortable, but then people might look at me and think "wow, that person must be such a good devoted muslim"

but theres still so many things i do that are haram, so many habits that are difficult to break. i know im new at this, so its a gradual process of learning, but by wearing the niqab, it feels like i would be pretending to be better than i really am

not sure how to feel about all of it. maybe im overthinking it, i dont know

Snails concern

Snail season has arrived. Every few yards, there are baby snails on the footpaths. Some of them are half trampled to death. The fact that only half of it was stepped on doesn't mean someone stepped on it intentionally. On the way out, I just passed by, but on the way back I begun worried.

In the end, I picked them up one by one as I walked and threw them over the fence by the road, but for some reason they seemed annoyed as they tumbled down onto the grass.

I googled a bit, thinking there must be a reason why they would go out of their way to come out, when they would be more comfortable in the soil or grass.

“Snails require high levels of calcium to form and maintain their shells and may lick discarded shells or the dead, old shells of other snails. You may see large amounts of snails attached to block or concrete walls, and this is also a phenomenon where snails gather to eat the calcium contained in the concrete."

..I was sorry.

カタツムリの心配

カタツムリの季節がやってきた。歩道には数メートルおきにカタツムリの赤ちゃんがいる。中には半分踏みつぶされて死んでいるものもある。半分しか踏まれていないということは、誰かが故意に踏んだということではない。行きはそのまま通り過ぎたが、帰りはだんだん心配になってきた。

結局、歩きながら一匹ずつ拾い上げ、道端のフェンスの上に放り投げたが、草むらに転がり落ちる彼らはなぜか迷惑そうに見えた。

土の中や草むらの方が快適なのに、わざわざ出てくるのは何か理由があるに違いないと思い、少しググってみた。

“カタツムリは殻を形成・維持するために大量のカルシウムを必要とし、捨てられた貝殻や古くなった他のカタツムリの死んだ殻を舐めることがある。雨が降った後、カタツムリがブロック塀やコンクリートの壁に大量に付着しているのを見かけることがあるが、これもコンクリートに含まれるカルシウムを食べるためにカタツムリが集まってくる現象である。”とのこと…

its been a while since i last posted!! not much has happened, and for a while i was neglecting things like prayers and studying, astagfirullah :(

but! i kept wearing my hijab and reminding myself that i cant give up like i have so many times before! and then one day i got the motivation to pray again and i felt much better :D

ive also been wearing niqabs in public a LOT more often, usually with whole abayas and khimars!! its intimidating since i probably stand out a lot, but whenever i see my reflection i get so happy because im dressing in a way that i like!

im really hoping i can get back into studying arabic and the quran, i need to refresh my memory on a lot of basic words, maybe ill look for friends to study with :)
